Starting point is 00:02:21 This is the Ben and Ashley I, Almost Famous Podcast with IHeart Radio. Welcome back to the Almost Famous Podcast. It's been Indiana. back to chat with the runner up from Let's Marry Harry. Today we're connecting with Dinell. Hi, Dinell. Thank you for joining us today. Ben, mostly Ben, but me. We're so excited that you could come because myself and our producer, Heather, have been following the show. And I know that we have you guys for a short period of time today. And I have so many questions. I don't know how that I'm going to get everything answered. I'm going to jump off from the beginning here. here because I know Deanna has a lot of questions like details and digging into stuff.
Starting point is 00:03:04 And I was just on social media. And there's an argument going on on social media that I want to ask you specifically about. Okay. Danelle, do you think Harry actually wanted to find a wife? That's the million dollar question, isn't it? Uh-huh. You know, I think he does want a wife. I'm just not sure if he's ready.
Starting point is 00:03:24 I think deep down, he, you know, he did everything that he could to prepare for it. his friends were saying, you know, he was reading all these books and doing all these things, talking to his like married friends, like getting advice before like to prepare himself for the show. I think he really did want to find a wife. I don't know if he's ready. I have to ask something kind of tough to know. We had Amber on the podcast yesterday. All as well. But at the reunion, you said that you think Harry chose her over you because she was the safe option. do you still stand by that? You know, I think that actually kind of ties into Ben's question.
Starting point is 00:04:03 I think you see in the show, you know, Amber's a little more hesitant about getting married, where I was like, yes, I am ready, a thousand percent, no question. And I think he realized that maybe he wasn't ready. And maybe Amber was also a little unsure. So I think that that's why he went that route rather than. picking the girl that he knew that was a thousand percent for sure ready to marry him when he wasn't ready himself for sure. So why marry me to break my heart that way? I would rather him have not married me and broke my heart the way he did than to marry me and then break my heart
Starting point is 00:04:42 because he's not ready. So here's what, you know, as a, as a viewer, I was really thrown off because it is let's marry Harry. And Amber is using the word marriage a lot. But early on, online, we saw that it is not a legally binding contract. And so, you know, at the reunion, I heard her talk about we were married, our honeymoon, all of these things. I just, I'm unsure how to feel about that. Yeah. I mean, I didn't know that it wasn't legal until, like, they announced that.
Starting point is 00:05:23 Um, so when I was going into my wedding day that day, I thought that it was also a legal wedding. That's the impression that I was under. So I think that in her mindset, you know, she's valid for thinking like, well, this is what we're signing up for. We're signing up to get married. So of course, like we're married, you know, like they had the paperwork, the fact that they didn't file anything. I think kind of says a lot too. So I don't know. But it got a little sticky because at the reunion,
Starting point is 00:06:00 when she was talking about all of this and leaving Australia and then the two of you connected after the show, you and Harry, she very much, it appears that she feels betrayed by you both, given that situation. And I know that you've done several podcasts and I've heard you share that you didn't quite know. You trusted Harry, right? He said, we are not together.
Starting point is 00:06:22 He told me I am single. Okay. So what am I supposed to? Yeah. My whole thing on that is I was so in love with that man and he's telling me that he's single. He wants to see me. Why would I second guess him? If I was going to marry him, I should be able to believe him and take his word, you know.
Starting point is 00:06:44 And also like now looking back, it's like I was maybe gaslit by Harry. so was Amber. So, you know, I think we both were kind of just wronged. We were wronged. All right, Dinell, this is something that we dove in about on the podcast, the situation with you and Harry in the closet. And I'm wondering, what did you think when you watched the episode, where you and Harry actually go in the closet and they played that audio?
Starting point is 00:07:20 This was a huge topic of conversation for us because my producer, Heather and I did not feel like the audio actually fit. And then we dissected the fact that when you get out of the bed, you still have your tennis shoes on. So we were really debating what went down with that. And so we're just wondering what you thought and when you watched it back and how you felt. Yeah. When I watched it, I was corringing and my jaw was on the ground. I was like, I can't believe the way that this is looking. Like, this is not what it was, you know? But, you know, at the same time, I get it.
Starting point is 00:07:57 It is what it is. But, yeah, the audio that was over it was definitely not my audio. I don't know who that was that they decided to throw that over. But yeah, you clearly see us like walk into the closet. And you can see the closet door is like a sliding door. Like when we walk out, we don't even. even open the door. The door was already open. We walk out just fully fine. We were literally in the closet making out. So it was, it was funny to watch, honestly. It's so wild when we
Starting point is 00:08:30 talk to people who have been a part of new reality television shows. Dinell, I don't want to put words or emotions into you, but obviously we did talk to Amber yesterday. It seems, if I'm just like guessing here, you're, you're doing pretty well now. It feels like you've, you know, you've moved forward. And I think that's my question. Have you moved forward from this? And if so, what do you, what do you take from this whole experience? I definitely do feel like I've moved on from this whole experience. Of course, watching all the episodes, watching the finale was definitely hard. You know, it was mostly just hurtful to watch myself being hurt like that, you know, is what really got to me. But ultimately, I am so far moved on
Starting point is 00:09:23 from this, like, ready to, I've already closed that chapter. Also, something I want to say with that too is because I've seen some comments of people being like, stop wearing the ring. Why are you wearing the ring? And I'm like, I actually don't wear the fucking ring. Why would I be wearing the ring? Come on. Let's be realistic here. I honestly, even when I went to L.A. and saw Harry, I don't even think I wore the ring then. Like the ring is, it was just, the ring is done. We're done talking about the ring. Where's the ring? I actually have no idea where it's out right now. I'm going to be so honest. I took it to L.A. with me for the reunion. Of course, they all, it was suggested that I bring the ring, you know, and because people want to see it for some odd
Starting point is 00:10:05 reason. But yeah. But to answer your other question is, you know, what I've learned from all of this is just honestly, I've learned that I actually am very hard on myself when I shouldn't be. You know, this whole experience, I've just learned so much. And the girls in the house were all so amazing too. And at the end of the day, I've realized, well, I've already known this too. You know, you got to choose your friends over a man. Would you do other reality television? I don't want to say never, but like, am I a little traumatized still? Kind of. It's honestly, it has been like before I did the show, I only had like 4,000 followers on Instagram. I'm not, I wasn't ever, you know, being criticized by people on the internet. And now people want to share their opinion about every
Starting point is 00:11:02 little thing that I've said that have left my mouth. And it's hard. It's really hard. And it's really scary and it makes it really difficult to want to voice your opinion on things because you know that you're just going to get backlash whether you're right or wrong. Get Bell Pure Fiber Internet with Crave Netflix and Disney Plus from $94 a month. Price guaranteed for two years on internet with a two-year term and auto pay credit. Visit bell.ca for details and to check availability. Bell, connection is everything. On the new podcast Solita, we share the messy reality of traveling alone as a I can wait four hours for the next bus or this random dude is offering me a ride on his motorcycle.
Starting point is 00:11:49 I chose option B. I'm Julie Pinero, and I travel by myself because it's a rare space where I can say yes without asking anyone else first. I'm on a mission to reclaim the word solita, trading the pity for possibility. Every time I tried to be alone, I kept meeting people, and they were like, you smiled at us. Not a lot of people smile around here. It's when you're alone that you're most receptive to the world as it is and not the lies you're sold about it. It can be a time where you push your limits, change your mind, or wake up to a new version of yourself. So whether you're a solo travel veteran or you're too nervous to book your first trip, I hope you listen to Solita on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:12:38 When I was 14 years old, I was kidnapped and held captive for nine months. I survived, and I've spent my life exploring how other people survive what should have destroyed them. I'm Elizabeth Smart, and these are the Survivor Files. I just remember this low, taunting voice next to my ear saying, shut up, don't say anything. Every week, I'm with survivors who live through the unthinkable. I knew if he woke up, without a doubt, he was going to hurt me. I started feeling that there was someone at the end of my bed, and I just started screaming. They are abducted, stalked, controlled, and nearly silenced.
Starting point is 00:13:22 But these aren't stories about what's taken from them. There's stories about what it takes to make it out alive. Listen to the Survivor Files with Elizabeth Smart on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Our town is small taters. most standards, right? But to the people who grew up here, it's everything. What happens when a quiet Tennessee town becomes the front line in a battle over the future of America? Developers with right-wing ties have purchased hundreds of acres of land in the area.
Starting point is 00:13:55 The first thing you see when it pops up is pioneers in Appalachia. But they weren't just planning houses. We need cities on a shining hill that exemplify and embody the Christian way of life. Stop right there. Is that normal? A podcast about what happens when a small town becomes the site of a social experiment. God need men to rule. Great. And decides to fight back. Do not use my hard work to sell your bull.
Starting point is 00:14:23 They're not just opposing what's being planned for here. Our hometown is not a test tube. They feel like they're standing in opposition to an entire administration. Guess you didn't move in on a bunch of dumb hillbillies now, did you? Listen to our town on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Mungeshit Together and I'm back with a new season of the podcast Skyline Drive. This time I'm diving into a rabbit hole of peptides, organoids, blood boys, blue zones and
Starting point is 00:14:54 brain replacement to try to understand what this longevity obsession is all about and what it really means to live forever for all of us. I learned about some rad science. I can make a brain for you and then we can test what draw is the best for your brain, a supposed to his brain. Here are some hard truths. I would expect Indians to age faster, but I did not expect it to be almost a four to five year acceleration. And get myself into a world of trouble.
Starting point is 00:15:29 I'd say probably start bones smashing. That doesn't work. To make it look more defined. They say it works. I don't know. Listen to Skyline Drive, How to Live Forever on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. You know, as we've been following along, it seems like Harry has moved on from the show, too. He has a girlfriend now. Have you met his girlfriend?
Starting point is 00:15:58 No, I haven't met his girlfriend. I didn't assume so. If you had met it, it was going to make a great headline. What do you think of the whole situation? That he has a girlfriend? Yeah. Part of me wants to say, I'm not surprised in a way. I don't know. I don't have a comment.
Starting point is 00:16:24 Well, if Harry's moved on, what about you? What's next for you, Dinell? I am moved on, but I am single still. I'm looking for my husband still. I definitely, it hasn't scared me away from wanting to look for my husband and date. I just haven't found him yet. You know, in today's world, Diana and I are a little bit removed from this. Obviously, we're just talking about. You are removed from this, Ben. I'm not removed from this. You are. Okay. So, Danelle, share some dating advice. Where do you plan on meeting your husband? Outside of reality television, because I don't think we're talking. Well, you know might be into that. I don't know. Listen, maybe Danelle needs to come on over to our sister podcast famously available.
Starting point is 00:17:10 Oh, no, I honestly, I'm not a big dater. Like, I don't do like dating sites or anything like that. I feel like I'm hoping to just meet my person like organically. Somewhere that I'm, I don't know, just meet him out with the people that I normally hang out with. You know what I mean? Not somebody that is so over here and I'm over here and then we're trying to like merge our two worlds together. Like I just feel like we'll be at the same place at the same time and it'll just work out.
Starting point is 00:17:42 Like perusing the broccoli section at Whole Foods? Exactly. That's my dream. Like that's where I want to just. be looking at all the greenery and a man to come over and be like, oh, my gosh, doesn't this head of broccoli look perfect? No, it's like you both reach for the same bag of broccoli. Yes. You touch hands. Yeah. You know where you can find Deanna at in her local Whole Foods just standing at the broccoli aisle looking left and right for hours at a time. Dinell, as we close
Starting point is 00:18:11 up with you here, Dinell, we've chatted about the whole experience. We've chat about the ups and downs. you've been a little bit removed from this show. But we always like to, especially in dating shows here on the Almost Famous Podcast, ask anybody who has had an emotional experience when it comes to reality TV, because it is hard and it is isolating at times. And it does feel confusing. For all the listeners out there, how are you doing in closing here? How can people support you or find you, you know, in whatever you're up to next?
Starting point is 00:18:47 Yeah, I mean, I don't know what's to come. I'm excited and hopefully it's something exciting. You know, I've seen a lot of comments of people being like, next bachelorette, let's marry Dinell. Like, they think that I'm deserving of finding love, which is nice, you know. And I also do want to say, too, I do go in and I read my message requests. And I've gotten so many nice messages from girls, you know, being understanding of like, you were following your heart, you thought that he loved you.
Starting point is 00:19:16 So it is really comforting to just see those nice messages. But yeah, I don't know. What's going to come next? Well, whatever it is, we are rooting for you. We hope for the best. We want every human who goes through the wild experience of reality television to come out on the other side better for it.
