Ten, ten shots five. City Hall building.
How could this have happened in City Hall? Somebody tell me that.
A shocking public murder. This is one of the most dramatic events that really ever happened in New York City politics.
I scream, get down, get down. Those are shots.
A tragedy that's now forgotten.
and a mystery that may or may not have been political,
that may have been about sex.

Ready for a different take on Formula One?
Look no further than No Grip,
a new podcast tackling the culture of motor racing's most coveted series.
Join me, Lily Herman, as we dive into the under-explored pockets of F-1,
including the story of the woman who last participated in a Formula One race weekend,
the recent uptick in F-1 romance novels,
and plenty of mishap scandals and sagas
that have made Formula One
a delightful, decadent dumpster fire
for more than 75 years.

This is the Ben and Ashley I, almost famous podcast with Iheart Radio.
It's the Almost Famous Podcast. And as the Bachelor Universe expands, we are bringing you
with our thoughts and opinions on the different shows they keep popping up on. Goodness gracious,
and they're popping up.
Today we're going to be breaking down episodes one and two of Alex Cooper's Unwell Winner Games
because we were supporting Joe and Serena, who are contestants on the show.
Now, Heather is with me today to break this down.
She's been watching vigilantly, as we all have.
We've already talked about this a little bit, Heather, in a past episode of kind of the casting of this.
Dakota is obviously a big name, and we also have Anna Delvey.
You know, some characters that were like, wait, what is happening?
That was answered for us in the first episode.
Clearly, they were going for people that were controversial.
It was definitely a choice that they were making.
It was a choice.
And I'm actually glad when I heard the intro, I was like, okay, now this makes sense.
They wanted this.
This was not a show they were trying to, like, please the moral compass of America.
They were wanting the chaos, controversy, and drama to come out of it.
So now that part makes sense.
Does it make it right or wrong?
That's for the viewer to decide and for the individual to decide.
But we now know why they did it.
Heather, I want to start with how would you feel if you went on a show and they entered it by saying all these people are unwell mentally?
I mean, I don't know if I would feel great.
But to me, when I was watching it, I was like, they're just really trying to.
fit the word unwell in here as often as they can. But yeah, no, I wouldn't feel great if I was,
you know, in a headline that said that I was cast on a show where people were unwell.
No, it wouldn't feel great. But we do kind of enter, I'm not going to go through every
contestant that's on the show. There's so many. But some familiar faces for you, though.
Yeah, Joe and Serena are on this. Louis from the perfect match.
Katch knew him well. I had no clue he was dating Huda from Love Island. We also have somebody on
there that has like 64 million followers on Instagram. Yeah, yeah. And funny, I was embarrassed by actually
how many people I recognized from this cast. I was like, what does this say about me and how
chronically online I am? But yeah, I actually don't know who that person is that has the 64 million
followers. I neither do I, which is wild. Juliet, we also see she was on the perfect
match. Obviously, we've mentioned Dakota, who Secret Lives. He's on Dad Talk, which is something
I've learned about very recently. We also bring in, I think, a cool little twist was one of the
contestants couldn't make it on day one. And so they bring in a producer to be a part of the cast.
That producer ends up becoming like the main character on this show very quickly.
I even had to do some sleuthing the other night to be like,
is this guy really part of a production crew?
There wasn't a whole lot I could find out about him on the internet.
I did find he has an IMDP page where he is listed as an actor.
But if you look at his Instagram,
you can scroll back a bit and see that he's been working at Unwell Productions for a minute.
So I think that there's definitely truth to the fact that he,
works at this company. And I did read an article that the Love Island contestant that wasn't
able to make it for filming, like, that there's no bad blood. It wasn't like they pulled out
at the last minute from like an issue. It's Kendall from Love Island, who if you're a Love Island
fan, you're familiar with. That's from the previous season, not this most recent season.
Yeah, so there was no issue there. It was just like a travel situation. And,
remember the show was only filmed over the course of four days.
Yeah, it was a very quick filming.
Yeah.
He, the producer owns it.
He not only gets told he's going to be on the show, but he dives in as a cast member very
quickly.
Yeah.
I mean, it does feel like he would have a, like, a little bit of an advantage because he
would have sat in all the pre-production meetings.
He knows what the show's going to be.
He knows who's going to be there.
He's almost a little too comfy on camera for me, though.
as somebody who has worked behind the scenes.
Like, this is, like, kind of my worst nightmare if somebody was like.
And I've been asked to do, I've been asked to go be in the background of shots.
I've also been asked to on competition shows one time the producers called me and wanted me to go and do the challenges ahead of time.
And I was like, this is my worst nightmare.
Like, I do not want to be in front of the camera or on that side of things whatsoever.
So this guy just totally stepping in and being like, I'm going to bartend.
I'm going to make out with people.
I'm going to, it's like.
I'm going to drink a ton.
Absolutely has no care in the world.
And so, yeah, can't relate.
Can't relate.
It would not be me.
Yeah, but he did it.
He owns it.
The first episode is kicked off by a competition.
Who's the host of this, by the way?
He's obviously part of the production, but I have never seen him before.
I've never seen him.
before his lower third says Adam W.
I'm going to have to do some sleuthing because I actually do not know who he is at all.
Okay.
Yeah, I've never seen him before.
But he, his hosting role is really to be like the ultimate say whatever.
And none of it really ever makes sense, but just make it as like fun.
This whole show is kind of centered around the idea of let's just make it fun, chaotic and like open up the door.
for people to make the decisions that this group will make.
For me, it's been one of,
it's been a similar watch to like the perfect match.
It's entertaining.
It is, there's some very awkward moments that we'll get into for me that I don't enjoy
watching, but I know they're good for TV.
But they definitely did cast how they wanted and the people are performing up to
Stipar.
The one character that really kind of is cracking me up is Cameron.
Cameron is, he comes into this thing.
He's like a TikToker that just talks trash about everybody.
That's what he says.
Yeah.
And he comes into this after talking trash about pretty much every person that else that's there.
Cameron is on my FYP on TikTok.
He is one of the TikTokers I was very familiar with because he is so funny.
Could I have named him in a lineup?
Probably not.
But the second I saw him on camera, I go, I know who this TikToker is.
He's in my feet all the time.
so funny. I've got to ask you, because we're like the same age, did you used to watch MTV
when you were a teenager or was that, okay, I'm not sure about like what you used to consume.
This show gives me very old school messy MTV vibes. Now, I can't say I've watched MTV in
the last 15 years. I don't think it exists anymore, by the way. Some iteration of it exists
because they do like the challenge and stuff still. But, but,
But I don't know if they make content still like this,
but that is what I feel like when I'm watching this show.
You're not wrong.
You're actually, that's a great comparison.
It is like the original real world with more like competition based where
you get a bunch of strangers together in a house and you say go live together and see what happens.
For a competition show, it's much more focused on what's happening in the chalet than what's happening in the competitions.
Yeah. You know, Heather, I'm going to say, I want to ask a question that's controversial to you. Okay? Because we'll break down these episodes. Really, we're doing it for Joe and Serena. And I'll be honest, in the first two episodes, they are not a thing. I was going to say, first episode, blink and you miss them. They're definitely not there. We only get a funny line from Joe in episode two. Yeah. Like, this is, they're not the focus. It was, I'm asking this question because it was brought up to me by a friend yesterday.
You know, The Bachelor has struggled as of recent for multiple reasons, but, you know, my buddy has a theory that the lack of drinking on the show has caused for those elements of surprise and chaos to be eliminated.
It's now, instead of the drama coming as like kind of funny, like drunken arguments, now it's they're like sober and more like bullion.
direct, like, personal attacks because, like, nobody's, like, loosened up yet.
These shows obviously are, like, allowing people to consume as much alcohol as they want.
I'm not saying it's a good thing, right?
It's not something that I'm like, oh, yeah, go out and drink your brains out and then go on TV.
Yeah.
But is, I mean, these shows that are really taking off right now don't have a drinking limit.
And the shows that are struggling do.
Do you think there's any correlation?
That was his question to me.
I think that that is a valid point.
I feel like we've seen, I want to say that NBC Universal went through a similar thing
two summers ago about the drinking and now has to give like a drinking like guidelines
before the filming of every single show.
And they are also limiting their alcohol on those shows.
and as an avid Bravo watcher, I want to say that I've not noticed a difference in the content on that side of things.
When it comes to a dating show, I think the bigger thing that we've realized is that the younger generation,
because they have communicated so much on their phones, are actually more awkward when doing the face-to-face communication.
so it makes it a little bit harder to watch.
We saw this on the last season of Love Island
because Love Island also limits the alcohol.
And they actually only drink little like baby cups.
Like they had a very small drink.
Yeah.
And that show is full of dramas.
So I think it's a little bit here and there.
I think, yeah, we miss those.
I miss night one at the Bachelor Mansion
when, you know, somebody would get so drunk,
they fell in the pool in their suit.
It happened in my season, yeah.
Yeah, it happened in a lot of seasons.
We don't get that moment anymore.
But I think there's a little truth to that.
And also just generationally,
we're just seeing a big shift in how the younger generation
communicates and how they hold themselves on camera.
I think they're a little bit more savvy, too,
when it comes to, especially these people,
when it comes to their brand.
Oh, and like going into a situation.
That makes sense.
Yeah, it does.
I just, I mean, this show, obviously, it came up because this show is open bar, drink as much as you want, I think.
I don't know.
We don't know, actually, right?
It looks like they were doing shots for sure in episode two.
And drinking martinis.
They're drinking wine, too, which actually kind of cracks me up.
Like, see, I mean, I love a glass of wine.
I'm in my 30s, but it's, like, kind of funny to see, like, a 21-year-old, like, holding a glass of wine, like, sitting in a chalet.
I, we'll get this in episode two, but cigarette smoking.
Yeah.
I didn't know it was still a thing.
I have not seen that in a minute.
And it made me right the question of, is cigarette smoking back in with the younger generation?
I think it's, I think it's a New York thing.
I think it's never left New York.
And I think all those people that were are like New Yorkers.
And I do think it's a New York thing still.
God.
I don't have any friends.
I have friends that previously smoked, you know,
past college and I don't have any friends that still smoke.
I don't think it's a thing.
I don't see it out a lot anymore,
but I do think when I go to New York, it's more common.
Heather, in episode one, we get introduced to the cast,
and then they play a game, a challenge where they are a jump on a snowmobile,
and then they have to pick the Tick-T-T or the amount of followers each person has.
This is really just an entry to the whole show.
There's not a lot here that takes away from it.
it, but we start to see kind of the whole idea of the show. It's four days. It's a competition show.
There's going to be two different teams. There's going to be people coming in and out. And there's
going to, it's kind of going to be a fly by the seat of our pants. Like, everything's going to change.
There's no really format. Like they're kind of saying, hey, you went home today and new person's
coming in. It's kind of the idea. Yeah. And the fact that everybody split into two teams.
So we've got the blue team versus the purple team.
And they're all competing for cash.
And then there's going to be chances for them in individual competitions to bank money for themselves.
That's kind of like the gist of the show.
The end of the show is to the teams have to pick their weakest link.
This ends up becoming Louie, who says that I will be the weakest link on this team because my
girlfriend is on the other team and I'm going to be loyal to her over my team. So I am your weakest link.
And then Hallie, who's a podcaster out of New York City, she volunteers because she's like,
this is just going to get awkward. And I know I'm the weakest link here on this team. And so I will
put my hand up. She says there's no way they're going to send me home. So that's not happening.
It was a very strategic amount of people being like, who's our weakest link? Well, let's vote off
somebody that's not really weak because we know that they're going to go into something.
They all knew that there was going to be a twist.
And so that to me was like,
these people are a little too savvy than like some normies who would go on a show like
this,
who would be duking it out.
You know what I mean?
It was like a very civil conversation between both teams to choose the weakest link.
And that's usually not how these go.
No, it isn't.
But they find out at the end of the episode that, uh,
you know,
the loser will be going home.
The two weakest links will be competing in a challenge
and the loser will be going home.

From I-Heart podcasts and Best Case Studios, this is Rorschach, murder at City Hall.
How could this have happened in City Hall?
Somebody tell me that.
July 2003, Councilman James E. Davis arrives at New York City Hall with a guest.
Both men are carrying concealed weapons.
And in less than 30 minutes, both of them will be dead.
Everybody in the chambers ducked.
A shocking public murder.

That may or may not have been political.
That may have been about sex.

And then we see in the end of episode one
that Demi from Secret Lives and Mormon Wives
comes in and she will be taking the spot
of whoever ends up getting eliminated
through this next challenge.
So everybody's pretty shocked to see her,
especially Dakota,
who is literally on the same television show as her.
Episode two we get into,
it picks up right where the last episode has left
off. And we see that Alyssa and Cameron are talking about their strategy to win the game. Cameron
says that asks Huda to talk outside and he's honest with her. They kind of clear the air because
there was a little bit of tension there. But the next day we go into the cast members having to
go to this mountain. They don't know what's up. And this is when, you know, the host tells them,
and Alex Cooper comes out, that, you know, they're going to be doing this next.
challenge, but Alex says that there's a twist. Whoever wins this challenge gets to stay in the unwell
games and win $10,000. The challenge ends up being beer pong. Do you have a beer pong past, Ben?
Oh yeah. I enjoy a good game of beer pong. It's a lot of fun. Louis is a little caught off guard
because he's going to have to be playing this. And he's from the UK and says he's never played this
game before. And he is going to be playing up until this point against Halley because she was the
one who, you know, said she was the weakest on the other team. But right before she goes, Andrew from
production says that he will take her spot. Because he likes her. Because he likes her. And,
yeah, that's, that's why. So they play face off against each other. And Louie, shockingly wins for having
never played this game before. It's pretty neck and neck.
He's good, though.
I mean, maybe they just show the maid cups.
Yeah.
But Louis takes him down.
Andrew looks like a guy who's played some beer pong.
Like you just like, yeah.
A hundred percent.
Andrew probably has his own beer pong set up at home.
That's what I would guess by looking at that guy.
Sorry, Andrew.
After this game, he's not happy that he lost.
But he goes back to production.
For about five seconds.
Yeah, and then he shows up again.
He shows up again.
And after the team challenge, which is sending people down in a...
Well, first it's a trivia challenge, and then it's the throwing people towards a bull's eye and an inner tube.
The challenge with the trivia stuff is when we get the one funny line from Joe so far in these two episodes,
which is that his whole pass is Duolipa.
It's a lot of people's actually, I think.
Duolipa is very hot.
She's a hot commodity these days.
We also find out that Dakota has slid into Selena Gomez's DMs and not heard back from her.
That was actually really funny because I think by his reaction, he did not know that that was actually going to be a question on the show.
He was pretty embarrassed that that got out about him.
And I think he's confused on how it did because he's like, I haven't told anybody.
Like, how does anybody know it?
It's like Dakota, you told a producer like at some point or you filled out an application and you put that as an answer at some point.
Yeah, he was very embarrassed.
by that answer and he was very embarrassed. He got called out. But yeah, then they do the inner tube
thing where they throw them towards a bull's eye. And the one who ends up getting closest is Nico,
another TikToker, TikToker that I am very familiar with, the Daddy Academy. I really love Nico.
If anybody doesn't follow him or follow his content, he's super sweet. He's East Coast base guy.
And his whole content is geared towards women about not falling for
boys and how to like, you know, get a daddy like a good guy that is not going to treat you poorly.
So he's very positive. We like Nico and we like the Daddy Academy. So I was happy to see him
pop up on this show.
Good for Nico. Again, I'm chronically online. That's all I realized when I watched this was I was
like, I don't think I'm the unwell demographic, but it made me feel like I am when I
watch this because I was like, oh, I know like 98% of this cast. Oh, that's good. I mean, that's
amazing, Heather. And I'm thankful for you because I did not.

Now, the big moments in the rest of this show are really,
Andrew, the producer,
coming back into the chateau for the evening portion as the bartender.
he's a bartender for just a short period of time.
Bartender who doesn't know how to make drinks.
He's very clear about that.
I think there's one thing on Andrew's mind.
Yes.
And it is, Hallie.
Yeah.
And the two of them end up canoodling for a bit.
This is the awkward exchange that I was talking about.
It's not awkward that they're kissing.
Good for them.
They're single.
They're into each other.
Go for it.
She's into a lot of the dudes there.
She admits to that.
She doesn't know who she's going to kiss and what order and how they're not all going to find out.
but the two of them laying in bed and this awkward like that's the moments that I cringe
where like he stops kissing right away and he goes oh you're a good kisser I'm like I don't
need that or like want that and who says that what's happening when he's in interview and he's like
a month ago I was at the mall and my friend pointed at a poster of Hallie and now I'm
making out with her I was like Andrew dude keep that to yourself man it's a little tough a little tough
for me to like to watch.
It's a little cringy, I would say.
The kids would say it's cringy.
It makes me like kind of like,
buckle up a little bit.
Also cringy, Andrew wearing his sunglasses all day and all night.
It's nighttime.
He is making out with Halley.
He is wearing his sunglasses.
He's wearing his sunglasses in his interviews.
He is not taking those babies off.
And that's a little cringy.
It's a little tough.
But he's enjoying his ride.
You know what?
For Andrew, he is, at a sense, outshining people who have made a living.
Oh, he's getting like the second most amount of camera time.
And he's not even a celeb, like, for sure.
Seleb, I use the word with air quotes on this show.
Yeah, it's loosely.
Next, Adam, the host, joins the contestants at the chalet after this whole makeout session.
It reveals someone from the losing team will be getting eliminated that evening.
It's the person who is furthest from the target.
So Hannah is eliminated.
Hannah, I think, is the one with like the second most followers or the most followers on this show, right?
Yeah, she had a very high following count.
And no, I mean, that's the funny part about this show is nobody knows when and how people are getting eliminated.
And they're just eliminating as they go.
So Hannah is being eliminated and she gets replaced by somebody, right?
Immediately.
So it's like, that's what's funny about this show is like immediately somebody goes home and then they're like,
Here's your new teammate.
And in walks in.
Dylan Kevich, I think I'm saying that last name, right.
He is known for, he's another TikToker that I was like, as soon as he popped up,
I was like, didn't know his name.
I have definitely seen him on my feed.
He does like very funny little dances.
And his whole thing is, shut up and fuck me.
That's what literally it says on his lower third.
And those are the TikToks he's known for making funny.
And he shows up at the chalet.
and when they're talking about going in the hot tub,
he's like,
wait, I didn't know we were going to be getting, you know,
shirtless.
Somebody needs to help me shave my back,
which is what they end up going to do,
shaving his back.
That is fantastic.
What a show, Heather.
Obviously, we're breaking it down for Joe and Serena,
but yet they are not fitting the mold of this show.
I cannot wait to possibly get them on as guests
to be like, what were you thinking as this thing was going on?
We get a scene with Serena really quickly.
I don't know how many drinks she'd had,
but Hallie's talking about, you know,
making out with somebody, blah, blah, blah.
And Serena goes, well, the least you could do is give him some tongue.
Yeah.
She did say that.
So we got, we got Joe is, his hall pass is Dula Lipa,
and Serena is encouraging a little tonsile hockey with her new castmates.
But other than that, yeah, we have not seen a whole lot of them.
Also, we saw Joe answer.
a question completely wrong during one of the challenges.
You just shouted out an answer.
So I don't know if they're just happy to be there.
If they're, you know, they just wanted to get a four-day little ski sesh in.
But, you know, we're happy for them.
Neither of them have gone home.
And they're on the same team.
They managed to not get themselves split up, which I guess is a good thing for them.
Yeah.
And hopefully they're getting more action, the two of them, than anybody else in the house.
I mean.
Oh, off camera, you mean?
Yeah, yeah, they're not going to get filmed.
You know, we all know that Joe and Serena live in a very tiny apartment.
I don't know if you watched them get that whole place made over.
I did.
And it's very small.
So I'm hoping that they have a very large room in this chalet.
And that was like one of the big reasons for them to go.
Yeah, it's a little vacation.
Heather, as we close for listeners out there, would you recommend watching this show?
I'm going to be really, really on.
As much as I do like Joe and Serena, I actually felt last night when I was watching episode two, I thought, did I just get dumber watching this?
There's a little too much of the chit-chat about making out who I'm going to make out with, when am I going to make out with this person.
There's like a little too much of that for me.
And so, no, I don't know if I would recommend this show.
But I also am like, I'm not the age demographic for this show.
So I would love to know if our listeners are watching it, if they're enjoying it.
Listen, it's a four-episode thing.
It's not like we're doing a huge undertaking, recapping this show.
But I would say, comparative to Alex Cooper's other show that we just recapped Love Overboard,
which I adored and thought was so funny and so twisty and great and so many levels,
this is not hitting those same beats for me.
Yeah, and it's obviously a very lower cost production.
Oh, clearly.
I saw a shot of a camera person in this second episode in a mirror,
and it's just a girl with a little handheld camera, like, standing there.
You know, so it's super, super low budge what they're making here.
Yeah, it's, hey, but it is a wildcast.
We've talked about it before, and we've talked about it today.
Can I just say, sorry, before we go, Ben, Anna Delvey showing off her ankle bracelet.
while filming.
That was actually a highlight moment.
I thought that was pretty funny.
Yeah, it is.
And she has to go charge it.
Yeah, she has to go charge it
because she's at high elevation
and she like doesn't want people to,
you know,
call the FBI on her.
So that was actually kind of funny.
What should actually make for a great scene in the show?
The FBI raids the chateau
to find out where Anna is.
This has been our breakdown
of Joe and Serena's appearance.
And that's what we'll call it
on the unwell winter.
games. Check it out if you want. Don't check it out if you don't want to. It's a, it's a time
passer. I would call it. It's a good time passer. Hey, this has been the Almost Famous Podcast.

10, 10, shots five, in City Hall building.
How could this have happened in City Hall?
Somebody tell me that.
A shocking public murder.
This was one of the most dramatic events that really ever happened in New York City politics.
I scream, get down, get down.
Those are shots.
A tragedy that's now forgotten.
And a mystery that may or may not have been pulled.
It may have been about sex.
