What is not a norm is to allow it to prevent you from doing the things that you want to do,
Starting point is 00:02:40 the things that you were meant to do. Listen to Therapy for Black Girls on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Welcome to I-do Part 2. It's Susan Knowles here today from The Golden Bachelor as well as Hulu's Got to Get Out. And from the podcast, I co-host with Kathy under Bachelor Happy Hour, Golden Hour. So, as you all know, I have been on I Do Part 2 before, talking about dating and putting yourself out there. And I am so happy to check in with all of you because I am finally dating someone myself. I am so excited for all of you to meet my man, Frederique, or friends. or Eric or whatever he wants to go by today.
Starting point is 00:03:43 Say hello. Bonjour, my friends. Thank you, there you go. And he's French. We also have our beautiful Jad, this is his daughter, who teaches me French every single day. And no, I am not good at it yet. However,
Starting point is 00:04:05 Thank you. We are in beautiful sense. St. Martin right now, right? Yes. And this is where he lives. So where do we start? I was on vacation with Kathy for 16 days. Yeah, it's a good idea.
Starting point is 00:04:24 And one night I had an espresso martini after dinner. When we came back, Kathy and I, we did our girl talk, wash our face. She went up to bed and I couldn't sleep. I was wide awake, playing games on my iPad, and I said, Let me try Tinder and voila. Obviously, I swiped right, but I didn't get back on for three days, right? It took three days. And who message to first?
Starting point is 00:04:57 It's me. How many times did we text before we went on our first date? Three days, three days. Three days, we text. Okay, okay. And do you remember what you said to me, the first message? Yes. What?
Starting point is 00:05:16 Thank you for your smile. Yes. Thank you for your aura. My aura, yes. And you love dance? Do you like to dance? Yes. And is my French better than your English, I think you said.
Starting point is 00:05:32 And I said yes to do, but no to what. because I can't speak French. So we decided to meet. He asked me to bring ear pods, right? We bring Kathy along because Kathy can speak a little bit of English. I actually... And Spanish. And Spanish.
Starting point is 00:05:50 And French. Oh, I said she could speak a little bit. No, French a little bit, Spanish a little bit, and English a little bit. Yeah, I said only English, please get it. So she helped with the introduction. He put the earpods in our earpots. in our ears and we were on our cell phones the whole entire time. Kathy stayed, what, five, ten minutes, had one drink.
Starting point is 00:06:12 Yes. And then she left. She was comfortable. We were comfortable. She understood the reason of the pitch. And, no, I did not have a code word or anything for Kathy to leave. As a matter of fact, I wanted Kathy to stay a little longer, but she was like, no, you two were doing your thing.
Starting point is 00:06:30 She goes. And we were fine with that. So, tell me about the first time we met when we were communicating with our iPhone. It's a beautiful moment. I see immediately your aura. My aura. And I know I have a good moment in your company. Yes.
Starting point is 00:06:56 And I want to stop the time with you. Ah, isn't that nice? Okay. So should more people in their I-do part two chapter have a wing woman? No, not necessarily. The only reason I brought my wing woman, if you call it, is because of the language problem. No problem.
Starting point is 00:07:24 No problem. No problem. He can speak better English than I can French for sure. However, I study more than you do. With that being said, no, it's not necessary unless there's a language problem. We're working through that just fine. I have several apps that I use and I have a tutor once a week and I have Jad every day right now because she's here in St. Martin with us before she returns to France. And then we're going to pick it up by phone, I think, when.
Starting point is 00:08:01 you go home, right? Yes. Okay, I am 14 years your senior. The coronology is not a problem. The geography is not a problem. Okay. You and me. No, that's exactly right.
Starting point is 00:08:15 Yes, I have dated younger men, and to me, the age is just a number. It's about the energy that you give each other and what you have in common. Age really doesn't matter. I mean, I know how many men out there date you. young, young women, older men, to have arm candy. That is not my goal by any means. It didn't matter to me how old you were. So I know I don't live in St. Martin.
Starting point is 00:08:45 However, I am here right now, and I have been back five times since February. Yes. One because of. I broke on your arm. I broke my hand. We were hiking. in Grin, no, Aunt Marcell. They were going to go surfing and I was going to film his son and him,
Starting point is 00:09:08 and I slipped on gravel and broke my wrist. I had to have surgery, a plate, seven screws. Long story short, he took me to the hospital, took very good care of me, I will say, and perfect gentleman. And then I flew home, had surgery, and came back for rehab because I wasn't allowed to do anything. so what better place to be for me it's a destiny i cook he cooks he cleans me he showered me he shaved me yes i kiss you yeah kiss me so tell me for you yes what was it that made you swipe right for me what is it
Starting point is 00:09:57 You liked about me. Your smile. Your eyes. What else? God, you're allowed to say it. You're funny. You're crazy attitude. It's true.
Starting point is 00:10:15 I love you. You too. So, when I was home back in Philadelphia, every time, not every time, but when he talked to his daughter's ad on the phone, They would face time with me so I could meet her. And a couple weeks ago, they call me and she says, my daddy say he's in love.
Starting point is 00:10:39 I must spend time with this woman. So she came for the same amount of time that I'm going to be here. I've been here. I'll be here 18 days this time. And we got to spend a lot of time together. As a matter of fact, her and I do more than you and I this week. We've been having fun. with a lot of fun.
Starting point is 00:10:58 You have met my daughter on FaceTime and chat it just a little bit. My sons, just for a second or two. So when he comes to my home, then he'll have time with my sons. He was a little nervous the second time I was here because every time I would trip or fall, what would you say? No, no, don't get hurt, your boys. I won't be allowed back in St. Martin. Yes, big of careful.
Starting point is 00:11:32 So, yes, the children part, but you know what? At my age, I do care what my children think. However, this is my life and my time. And it's about my happiness. So I'm certain that my children will be happy for me. Okay, our favorite things about each other. Hmm. Your favorite things.
Starting point is 00:11:55 Things about me, you told some of them. The same. Your eyes, your smile, your positivity, your energy. And when I, with you, I love. Yes, we do laugh, we laugh a lot. Every day. Every time. I love it.
Starting point is 00:12:21 Yes. For me, the first thing I saw was his picture. on Tinder, and I thought he was handsome, and I swiped, right? That is it. When we met, it wasn't, as soon as I saw him, oh, my God, it was about two hours in. I think we were both with our heads on our phone with the translation. And I remember saying to you, you know, where I come from when I go on a date or meet someone, I usually make eye contact.
Starting point is 00:12:49 And I can't even tell you what color your eyes are because my head has been down on this phone and we both started to laugh, remember? Yeah. I mean, laugh. And I think it was that moment for me. Was it for you at that moment? Mm-hmm. It was for us, both.
Starting point is 00:13:05 That was it. We knew we enjoyed each other. We liked each other. The date lasted four or five hours. We talked forever. I don't remember. The time there is a stop when a, My favorite
Starting point is 00:13:23 My favorite My favorite things about him Number one, he's so handsome Number two, he's so funny We make each other laugh And I think that is so, so important In a relationship Romantic, the French
Starting point is 00:13:44 I got to give it to them This man thinks And that's not a put on And when we're out at my friend's house for dinner, he gets, when it's time to leave, you get my purse and my phone, he carries everything, he opens the door for me. He's a perfect gentleman and sexy. Because. Thus.
Starting point is 00:14:04 This is about us. No sexy. That's funny. We, we are funny. We are funny. Oh. professor is way too friendly, and now I'm seriously suspicious. Well, wait a minute, Sam, maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit.
Starting point is 00:14:25 Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon. This person writes, my boyfriend has been hanging out with his young professor a lot. He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her. Now, he's insisting we get to know each other, but I just want her gone. Now, hold up. Isn't that against school policy? That sounds totally inappropriate. Well, according to this person, this is her boyfriend's former professor, and they're the same age.
Starting point is 00:14:48 And it's even more likely that they're cheating. He insists there's nothing between them. I mean, do you believe him? Well, he's certainly trying to get this person to believe him because he now wants them both to meet. So, do we find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated with his professor or not? To hear the explosive finale, listen to the OK Storytime podcast on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.

December 29th, 1975, LaGuardia Airport. holiday rush, parents hauling luggage, kids gripping their new Christmas toys. Then, at 6.33 p.m., everything changed. There's been a bombing at the TWA terminal. Apparently, the explosion actually impelled metal, glass. The injured were being loaded into ambulances. Just a chaotic, chaotic, chaotic scene. In its wake, a new kind of enemy emerged, and it was here to stay.
Starting point is 00:16:46 Terrorism. Law and order criminal justice system is back. In season two, we're turning our focus to a threat that hides in plain sight. That's harder to predict and even harder to stop. Listen to the new season of Law and Order Criminal Justice System on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Jay Shetty, and I'm the host of the Unprivile. purpose podcast and today I'm joined by one of the greatest athletes of all time Novak Djokovic the world's number one male tennis player he's won 14 grand slams in a glittering career
Starting point is 00:17:28 Novak Djokovic you've been through so many injuries losses I always heard himself what has Novak jokovic done what goes through your mind when you lose I just want to be left alone what has it taken to become Novak joccovich it's a consistent practice It's prayer work, mindfulness, meditation, conscious breathing. It requires more responsibility from you on a daily basis to prepare yourself for the biggest battle. When you reach your 30, you start counting your days to your retirement. I'm 38 this year. How far can I go?
Starting point is 00:18:03 How long can I push my own limits? Listen to On Purpose with Jay Shetty on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Have you ever wished for a change but weren't sure? to make it. Maybe you felt stuck in a job, a place, or even a relationship. I'm Emily Tish Sussman, and on she pivots, I dive into the inspiring pivots of women who have taken big leaps in their lives and careers. I'm Gretchen Whitmer, Jody Sweeten. Monica Patton. Elaine Welteroff. I'm Jessica Voss. And that's when I was like, I got to go. I don't know how, but that kicked off the pivot of how to make the transition. Learn how to get comfortable pivoting because your life
Starting point is 00:18:42 is going to be full of them. Every episode gets real about the why behind these changes and gives you the inspiration and maybe the push to make your next pivot. Listen to these women and more on She Pivotts, now on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. So my recommendation out there, obviously I was far away from home and I'll pick up a Tinder app anytime, anywhere. I never had this far of a long-distance relationship before, but it is doable. And I can't tell you,
Starting point is 00:19:24 sometimes you just can't find somebody in your backyard. It's okay to look elsewhere. You never know what's going to happen. I and Kathy both have been out there. We were on The Golden Bachelor looking for love. And two years later, I'm still not searching. I think I kind of gave up really searching.
Starting point is 00:19:43 for something and just was okay by myself and I happened to open up that app and here we are and it's working out perfectly actually. Yes, we don't choose to fall on romantic. Ah, yes,
Starting point is 00:19:59 go ahead and say that. He's sharing that you don't choose to fall in love that it just happens and if it happens to happen long distance at this stage of the game at our age that I do part two, it's okay.
Starting point is 00:20:16 Either one of you can pick up and go. It's not like we have full-time nine to five jobs anymore. We've raised our children, our grandchildren are here, at least for me, and you do what you want, right? It's a different day. Every day is a different day. So love is not sought, it's simply found. That's why we say we fell in love.
Starting point is 00:20:42 We don't choose to fall and have romantic encounters. They're just around the corner in a city far from home or near home. So don't be shy. Get out there. Put yourself out there. If you're looking for love, be alive, be where you are. And it's okay if it's not in your backyard. Nothing's for you, ma'am.
Starting point is 00:21:06 He says, don't look, she falls. It is true that we can give love the opportunity. by meeting people or just moving around. You can find love anywhere. What I love about Susan. Yes, God. He says what I love about Susan. Do I really have to tell you
Starting point is 00:21:29 is that when you are near her, you see her, you talk to her. She is captivating her gaze, her smile, her aura, this positivity that she excludes, at every moment, and I'm not talking about her physical assets like my ass. I think he likes my ass. You're so cute. So without being said, what else would you like to tell people looking for love
Starting point is 00:22:00 at this stage of the game in your golden years? It's your choice. What you want, I want, what you go, where you go, I go. When I'm with you, it's my birthday every day. Okay, this is so beautiful. And even being married before, I've never felt this kind of love before. It's magical. Magical, it's magical, but you have another word for more magical.
Starting point is 00:22:33 More magical? Oh, my God. You're going to make me cry. I love it. to feel love right now this part of my life is so important because you're not looking for the same as you were when you were 40 years younger or 30 years younger then you're looking to get married and to have a family and children we don't we did all that now it's just about enjoying the last chapter if you will of our lives and being happy
Starting point is 00:23:07 In French, we say, the measure of love is to be without measure. In English, the measure of love is to love
Starting point is 00:23:19 without measure. They're beautiful the French. I'm telling you. It gives me goosebumps even though I'm sweating in St. Martin. This kind of love
Starting point is 00:23:33 I couldn't ask for more. I really couldn't. It's just a miracle. It's a miracle that we found each other. The miracle, it's you and me in St. Martin. And me and what else? It's perfect. And also, as you all know, I am not going to be on Bachelor in Paradise because I did find love on my own.
Starting point is 00:24:01 And he's sitting right here. Right? But I keep thinking that maybe Nancy will find love. I don't know why I had this dream one night. Nancy kept popping in my head. So I'm so excited to watch Bachelor in Paradise or Golden in Paradise when it airs to see if I was right. And we all want Kathy to find somebody, don't we dear? That's yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:32 I don't know why. Oh, gosh. And our We also will talk about our new golden bachelor, Mel. I happened to meet him when I was out in California not too long ago for a Hulu event. And he had said to me any advice. I told, I welcomed him and said to him, my only advice to you, Mel, is be true to yourself.
Starting point is 00:25:00 You're going to be world win with all these women at your feet, dating here and there and everywhere. Just keep true to yourself and what makes you happy. That's what we did. Right? Everybody was excited about the new Golden Bachelor.
Starting point is 00:25:19 I'm sure the world is jumping up and down. Can't wait to see them. And me too. I can't wait to watch. and I keep in touch with everyone from my show, from both shows now. After filming Got to Get Out, those people, oh my goodness, they definitely became a part of my life just like the ladies on The Golden Bachelor, as well as Gary.
Starting point is 00:25:45 Gary and I still talk, but the people from Got to Get Out. So my most favorite person, I can't say that. Bonnie and Clyde, if you will, would be Val from Dan. with the stars. He was my client and I was his Bonnie and little Demi was my roommate. And as you all know, I hope everybody listening has watched the show. And I'm getting mail like crazy saying, why would you tell everybody your secret, your exit strategy? And I have to laugh because I was silly. But there was a reason I say this because it was very early in the show and I was not ready to escape. And I thought by telling everyone my plan, they would trust me. And if you continue to watch
Starting point is 00:26:31 the things that happened were hysterical, but I no longer told them when I had an escape strategy. With that being said, I talked to every single one of them almost daily in another text chain, if you will. And there wasn't one person on there that I disliked. It was a really wasn't. I loved all these people. And being on reality TV for me is just making more friends and enjoying every single moment of knowing new personalities and new destinations to go see people. I feel blessed. I really do. But the biggest blessing of all, I don't care anything about TV is this right here. Maybe I have an idea for the escape. Okay. For the escape. I still When we first talked about the Golden Paradise,
Starting point is 00:27:29 I shared with him that, you know, I might be going. And what if I kiss another man on TV? Remember what you said? What? Same. No. You said, it's not going to be fun to watch, but I know it's TV. Right?
Starting point is 00:27:51 But I couldn't pick it. anybody. I wasn't interested, so I had to be honest. You do what you want. I did. Just here I am. I want you. You're happy. Yes, I am happy. My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly, and now I'm seriously suspicious. Oh, wait a minute, Sam. Maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit. Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the OK story time podcast. So we'll find out soon. This person writes, my boyfriend has been hanging out with his young professor a lot. So he watched some of the golden, right? You could find that on the internet. However, I have not been able to get Hulu here in St. Martin. So he has not seen the show. He saw clips, a lot of clips from it.
Starting point is 00:33:12 But I have to wait until he comes to the United States for him to watch the show. Right? I think the three days I had left here in St. Martin after we met, we spent every minute together. And he had said, when will I see you? And it was in exactly nine days after I left, I was due to go on a trip to California, Kathy and I with some friends of mine. And unfortunately, she had a heart attack. So it was canceled.
Starting point is 00:33:44 And I turned to him and said, just so happens. I got all my miles back from the airlines, and I had the week off. So I said, I can come back for this day. He was perfectly happy. And I said, you'll have to help me find a place to stay. Remember? And you said, no, you stay with me.
