This is the Ben and Ashley I, I almost famous podcast with Iheart Radio.
Hey guys, welcome back to the almost famous podcast. Today, Ashley, that is me and Ben. Why am I weird?
Our breaking down Bachelor Nation headlines for you. We got ballroom dance floors, floods,
and celibacy. There's a lot happening. Hello, Ben. How are you?
I'm so good. It's good to be with you.
You want to dive in these headlines?
Yes, please.
Okay, let's start with this one.
Dancing with Stars is back on our televisions.
Derek Cuff awkwardly calls Tyler Cameron Dylan during Dancing with the Stars premiere.
So Dylan, Dylan Efron was on last season.
So Derek has just probably got Dylan still on the mind.
And there's just like a general, like, sexiness, I guess, that comes with both of them.
So it's easy to get the mixed up.
But after Tyler's dance yesterday, he said there's something Patrick Swayze about you. Dylan, Dylan, you have this like Patrick Swayze or about you. And that's a little awkward. And I guess, did anybody correct them? Yeah, did anybody say? Nobody said a word.
Nobody said like, oh, hey, that's Tyler, not Dylan.
No, we just let it sit. It's better when you just let it sit.
That's so funny.
I will say that since the beginning of Tyler Cameron's fame,
I've always thought that he was Swayzey-like.
There is something about him that feels like Patrick.
I don't know why, but I like it.
And everybody else does too.
Taylor Frankie Paul reveals.
Okay, so this is one, Ashley, that I need caught up on.
Because I've tried my hardest to catch up on the Taylor.
Frankie Paul stuff when it came to Bachelorette, post-bachelorette, all the storylines combining.
And now all of a sudden, we're in this text thread with IHeart and our producers, and I'm getting videos sent to me of people that I've never heard of.
And so somehow along the way, I didn't know about this Ben Lambert guy, but the headline reads this way.
And then you can help me understand what in the world's happening and where Ben came in.
but Taylor Frankie Paul reveals real reason for Ben Lambert breakup.
Okay.
Ben, when she became the Bachelorette,
not only did she sleep with Dakota the night before leaving for it,
she was also talking to this other guy named Ben.
That is actually disrespectful to the franchise.
You know what's more disrespectful?
The fact that she gets home after getting engaged to Doug,
and she had made.
that she was engaged to Doug, like it's basically spoiler alert on this season of Secret Lives.
She goes and she cheats on him with this guy, Ben, and Dakota.
I was going to say, I knew about Dakota.
Yeah, we all knew that she went back to Dakota for a moment.
And we're like, oh, my God, this girl's so addicted.
But actually, she also cheated on Doug with this guy, Ben.
Did she like, has she talked about, did she actually really like Doug?
Or did she just feel like this was a stepping stone?
Or has she brought that up at all?
I'm going to bring producer Heather into explain that because I know that she's watched more
secret live. She's probably watched the entire episode. You know I watched the whole season in a span
of 24 hours. Absolutely. I know. So she calls Doug a clout chaser. And so when her cast members
are actually like, hey, when are you going to tell Doug that you are back together with Dakota or
you're seeing this guy been? She's like, I'll tell him when I feel like it. But they're currently engaged.
Yeah, and she goes, or I'll tell my lawyer to tell his lawyer.
She's like, that's gross.
Oh, my God.
Oh, my God.
I have to, now I have to admit it's gross and I'm intrigued to watch it.
But why did you agree to be the Bachelorette?
That's actually pissing me off.
That actually pisses me off.
Well, you have the same sentiment as a lot of her cast members because they ask the same thing kind of over and over again to her.
And just to go back to the Ben thing, you guys actually did know about Ben because when we were doing.
I know. I wanted to come in for this too because you were doing detective work on some other guy
that you thought she ended up with from the show. But in fact, she was missing him from before the show.
Yep. So remember we did that deep dive on Frankie Friday once where she used a very special song on an
Instagram and I couldn't track down who the artist was or anything. And then some of our sleuthy
listeners were like, hey, it's this guy named Ben. He's this singer.
Um, so that was him. So she was seeing him before she was announced as the Bachelorette.
We saw that end up playing out a little bit on the last season of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
Then she says goodbye to him, whatever. She gets offered the bachelorette. She's like, yeah,
I'm going to take this. I'm going to do this. And then in the first episode of season five, she gets home and she goes,
yeah, Ben like sent me flowers when I got home and I just got butterflies. Like I've just always been
thinking about him and like the second he reached out to me, I knew it was him and not Doug.
So do we see Ben on Secret Lives?
Oh, yeah.
We see a whole lot of him.
We see a bathtub scene of them.
And then I'm not going to lie.
As soon as they have this like romantic bathtub scene, they meet up in New York.
He has to stay in her hotel room because they can't be spotted together.
She dumps him at the end of that trip.
And then that's why she did this whole long post.
and Ashley can get into it where she talks about celibacy
and the need to break up with Ben.
Okay, I'm sorry, but I don't care about your breakup with Ben.
And she's all, like, sad about it.
And I'm like, I'm sad that you went on The Bachelor.
You got engaged to this man named Doug,
and you went home and started cheating on him so openly
that you were like filming scenes with this guy, Ben.
That's where I get confused.
And Heather, you have to help me make sense of this.
And so, obviously, the Bachelor world is,
involved, they were excited or intrigued with Taylor Frankie Paul becoming the Bachelorette.
I'm just like kind of spitballing here because I'm walking through my thought process,
trying to make sense of it.
And so she ends up with somebody from the Bachelorette named Doug.
And then she also knows that this, her stepping out on Doug is going to be shown to the public.
Like this isn't even being done in secrecy.
This is being done so the public will watch on Secret Lives of Memorial.
Mormon wives. And Heather, this is where my question now comes in. Did she not think there would be any
consequences? Consequences? No, quite the opposite. She is very aware the entire time she's
talking about it. She's like, oh, Bachelor Nation is going to hate me for this. Like I, you know,
and I'm dead. Like, this is not going to look good for me. Let's also not forget the fact that
NDA what? She goes around to every single one of her cast members in the first episode.
and basically tells all of them,
oh yeah,
this is who I chose.
Oh, yeah, this is who I am engaged to.
Like,
flip it.
It's not on camera,
but it's like,
it's not secret.
Like, there was no keeping this a secret at all.
She was walking around.
Everybody knew how her season ended before it aired.
But there was social media videos put out there.
I remember these.
I couldn't reference the exact timeline,
but we broke her down during Frankie Fridays
of her and a guy, but the guy's face was never shown.
It was like his arm.
Yes.
Thank you so much for bringing those up, Ben.
They negate talking about any of that in secret lives
because once basically the season gets pulled
and we get to that part of the timeline,
that's when they shut down filming the show.
They say we have shut down filming,
and then they say we've resumed now filming?
No, so they shut down filming.
and they show like different social media clips
talking about the situation and stuff like that.
But like that's kind of where the season ends.
Ends?
Yeah, they did like confessinals and stuff like that.
But yeah, there's not like a storyline after
of like Taylor sits back down in the chair
and like, you know, we see life after, you know, the show.
Like all of that is not part of this season.
This is only five episodes.
this season. Oh, okay. So let me read this post, Ben. I want you to react to it,
because this is her post about the guy Ben, the guy that he, she was cheating with. This is a hard
post for me to write because a lot of emotions come to the surface. Ben is a reminder that there
are good men out there. He was patient, gentle, kind, and understanding and trying to get me out of a
cycle that I was in. We've gone our separate ways. However, he will
make for an amazing husband father one day and I hope he finds that person to give all that back
to him. She said that her nervous system remembered while watching the show back what calm felt
with him. He helped me through panic attacks, listened to me, cried, held space in sooth. He
reminded me that I'm a good mother, even struggling, and I hadn't heard those words in years,
which meant so much to me. I'm sorry for the heartache I caused and have told him as well,
nothing but the best, blah, blah, blah, blah.
It's just like, where's your sorry to Doug?
There's a lot of questions here.
I'm still trying to make sense of this whole thing.
And we haven't really heard a lot from Doug.
We've heard it feels like a lot from Shane, who was like her runner up or something,
I guess during this season.
We see him out there.
He's on a new show.
He's on social media, traveling with Bachelor of people.
We don't hear a lot from Doug.
And it's interesting, you know, this whole.
whole thing how it's playing out with them. The Bachelor world, I just have a lot of questions,
and I wish we could get somebody on who is helping make the decisions. I don't know if I agree
or disagree. I just don't know what's happening. It's been a long hiatus. The men were kind of
prompt, they tried everything to make these men like celebrities in their own right or
known by bringing them to events and doing these social media things with them and promoting who
they are as people and saying how great they were. And then they just like disappear again.
it's a lost season with lost castmates,
cast members, and missing storylines
that would help us as fans of The Bachelor
make sense of why they did what they did.
Doug here, I don't know if he's even owed an apology, Ashley.
I don't know anything about the guy.
I don't know anything about their relationship.
I know, Heather, come back in for a second
because I am right in the fact that she was cheating on Doug
with two people, right?
It may not have been long, but there was a time.
So she only hooks up with Dakota for like a couple of times and then she stops and then she starts
seeing Ben. So she's not technically seeing like all three of them at the same time. But yes,
literally her cast member, Michaela, is like, so are you going to tell Doug you cheated on him?
And she's like, no, my lawyer might tell him that we're broken up. He makes a face at the word
cheating. Like she doesn't consider it cheating. Why? Because she thinks it's a fake relationship.
because it came from the show.
They literally go,
she goes something like,
it's not really cheating or it's not really that or something.
And they go, yes, it is.
And then they go, that's like rich.
Like if the roles were reversed,
like we wouldn't hear the end of it.
Yeah.
And so she,
and then she flips and she gets totally like irate one day.
And she a couple of times.
And she explodes on her cast members because they start joking about this.
And then,
and then she ends up like apologizing and stuff.
But yeah, no.
The question is whether Doug ended up actually knowing about any of this in advance
or did he actually have to find out about all of this by watching the show?
We don't know.
Well, the new updates are from Taylor Frankie Paul is that she has committed the celibacy,
right, until she meets the man that she will spend her life with.
I don't know if that's the exact phrasing that she.
she used. But there are, you know, she is communicating, hey, this behavior is hurting people.
Even if I was upset with the person at the time, it's still hurting people. It hurt, obviously,
Dakota, Ben, Taylor, Frankie, Paul, Doug, all these people are getting mixed up into this thing.
It just keeps like, I feel like as soon as we kind of like have a grasp of it, Ashley.
Mm-hmm.
And we're starting to understand like, okay, you know, they're in court.
The courts are going to decide.
Here's the situation that happened.
I feel like it just opens up a whole new layer.
And I'm like, whoa, what?
Like, how did the show ever think they could air this?
Like, the Bachelor had to be aware.
How did they ever think this season could make air?
They had to know what she was doing because, like, Hulu knew, you know, over with Secret Lives.
Because they were filming, you know, January, February.
and then March was when it was supposed to start airing.
How did they ever think they could make this happen
and that it would help the franchise?
It would make, there's no path here that I see it helping the franchise
other than one season of viewership,
which maybe that's what they were going for.
Yeah, it would have been highly viewed
and it would have been so messy.
So it wouldn't have been love oriented,
but it would have been really messy.
And you know what?
We kind of knew that going into this.
I also, also worth mentioning that she wasn't really planning
I'm getting engaged to Doug, but then like when he got down on one knee, she's like, I guess so.
All right.

Yeah, it's reading. It's called reading. So we don't like to use that word anymore.

Middle school is a different world than the one we grew up in.
I'm Dr. Joy, and this is therapy for black girls.
We spent real time on it in our surviving middle school run,
bringing in a child psychologist and a psychiatrist
who's raising two black girls of his own
to talk about what's really going on with our kids right now.
So it's literally physiological and neurological and psychological
and psychological chaos happening all this end up.
We got into group chats and gaming,
friendships and bullying,
and how to tell the difference between healthy monitoring
and the kind of surveillance that erodes trust.
There's belonging.
You can think of belonging as I can be myself and I can still be accepted.
And then there's fitting in.
Spitting in says I have to change who I am in order to avoid rejection.
Then we turn the conversation toward the fathers,

But the reality is there's a lot of lives out there that we don't want you as your adults in their lives to miss out on.
This has been our surviving middle school run.

Former Bachelorette contestant Zach Clark, who's good friends with Caitlin Bristow.
Yeah.
We've seen their support on social media for you.
other caught in flood during half marathon.
Yeah, he was in Paramus, New Jersey, a place where they have a wonderful malls.
And this flood was like an actual river started running through.
People were like holding on to trees.
Yeah.
He showed this on Instagram.
Obviously everyone was okay, but it definitely made big headlines.
And he managed to finish the third in his age group.
He's a great runner.
This was crazy.
I had people texting me who've never watched The Bachelor and never know anything about the franchise
were like, hey, your boy, because I love Zach.
I think Zach's one of the best humans I've met.
Your boy is like this poster child for this race and I was watching it.
I was like, this is crazy.
One, it's flash flooding.
So there's debris obviously flowing down this, you know, path as well.
Obviously you have like strong water currents.
And so who knows, like what you're running through and how fast the water is going.
If you fall, it could be really bad, but nobody did get hurt.
Nobody got hurt.
Zach Clark did finish third.
Good for him.
And now he's everywhere.
He was on every news channel.
He was on all social media.
The guy just continues to find a way to make running cool.
I mean, goodness gracious, he's almost got me convinced to do the New York marathon with him because I'm like, I want to be like Zach.
Maybe I will one day.
I can't believe that you haven't run a marathon.
It seems like a Ben thing to do.
I have terrible knees.
Oh, yeah, that's right.
Comedian Jeff R. Curry says he and Katie Thurston are discussing surrogacy amid her stage
four cancer diagnosis.
Ashley, it's been a bit since we've been given an update on Katie and kind of where she's
at in her breast cancer journey.
And so I think we can kind of do both here, right?
Obviously, it's a stage four cancer diagnosis, and Jeff is now talking about future family planning.
So he doesn't say anything super clearly, but he does have this Netflix special.
It's called Nice to Meet You.
And he's talking about, he says that talking about her cancer journey on stage is actually therapeutic.
And he says that she said, do you think that maybe we can look into surrogacy this year?
And then he said, you just told me that we're doing too much.
But we do a lot of this to ourselves.
Yes, our plates are full.
But we made a lot of food on that plate and we're both very impulsive.
And we both have an idea and we'll both be like, yes.
And then we support each other.
And then three months later, we complain that it's too much.
I understand this.
Not to the degree that they do.
But he says, she's my best friend and she reminds me that I'm funny and she'll stop me
and she'll say, write that down.
And then she'll walk me through it.
And there's been many nights on the road where I've called her five minutes before
a set in front of a lot of people.
and I said, what's that thing that I said about peppermint candy?
She is my muse in so many ways, and she likes to challenge me in such a great way, that I could not be here without her.
So obviously, he pointed out that they are talking about surrogacy, but we don't get like a lot of meat from that statement, if you don't mean.
Ashley, what do you know about Katie's current situation?
I think that I don't know.
I think that I don't know.
But I do know that she just got chin lipo.
Yeah, that's the next headline.
It might be time to bring Katie back on to the show to kind of hear where she's at,
what she's going through, just to kind of get an update on her life.
Yeah, because she had the surgery to get it out.
That's the questions that we should be asking Katie or at least getting it from her rep so that we can fill you all in
because we did promise everybody that we'd follow that journey closely.
And we need to do that.
As you mentioned, the next headline is Katie Thurston undergoes chin liposuction amid breast cancer journey.
I kind of love this.
So she said, after so many required medical surgeries, I decided to do one for myself.
I'm all about transparency, never had Botox or filler.
But today, I did have chin lipo.
And I love this for her.
She, I don't even know if she had to go under for her.
A lot of chin lipo, you don't have to.
and she shows some before and after.
And she got like some people messaging her saying like, oh my gosh.
Like why would you like put thought into your chin when you're going through this?
And she's like, because I may have stage four cancer, but I'm planning on living a long time.
And I'm going to do what I want to do and what's going to make me feel great about myself.
Are you going to tell me not to shower?
Are you going to tell me not to get manicures?
Like this is what I wanted to do for myself.
And I think I deserve a little treat.
And I was like, hell yeah, Katie.
Great for Katie. Katie's been through it. Goodness. It's always, I do. I want to follow up with her, Ashley, because there's so much that she's been through, gone through. She's done such a great job at keeping everybody informed along the journey. And then in great Katie style, she's still being open and honest with all of us.
And I'm like, do I want Shinlaipo? Does it look good? I haven't seen it.
Yeah, it looks really good. Go look.
Okay.
What does that do?
This is just like...
It's like really minimally invasive.
Like, it's like obviously somewhere in between like a med spot trip and like an actual plastic surgery.
Yeah.
But I'll show you the...
What does it do, though?
It makes this area look like tight.
You know what I mean?
Oh, underneath?
Just like Jared like like, like your jawline and your chin looks like tighter.
Yeah.
And you don't have like a gobble, gobble.
So I've been doing this thing that Jess has given me like vibrates my mouth.
I saw that.
It looks awesome.
Yeah.
You really do it every day?
Every day.
It's very easy.
I mean, it's like five minutes of my day.
I put it in when I go to bed and then, you know, go to sleep.
I know.
I'm going to need her to hook me up one of those.
Look at that, Ash.
Like, look at my jaw.
Is it for your jaw?
Is it for your, like, cheekbones?
I think it just does all of it.
I think it just kind of like, oh, look at me.

This is Prose Society, the weekly podcast that's part book club, part group chat for thought
pop culture obsessives, and anyone who thinks pride and prejudice and love island deserve the
same level of discourse. I'm Eli Rallo, and every week we're connecting the dots between books,
the internet, and the conversations everyone can't stop having. I'm going to have to look up this story.
I'm obsessed. I'm obsessed. From bestselling authors and your favorite book talk creators to the latest
pop culture moments, nothing is off the table. It's like if you can hide some real messages
inside compelling characters, and that is a Trojan horse.
Whether you're looking for literary deep dives, smart pop culture conversations,
or a community of readers who love to think a little too much,
you're in the right place.

What I try to do is faux journal.
I don't know.
Have you guys heard of faux journaling?
Yeah, it's reading.
It's called reading.
So we don't like to use that word anymore.
Okay.
A panel of New Yorker cartoonists.
Have you guys done Terry Gross's Peloton class?
No!
I've been dying too.
I'm so sorry.
I'm seeing a reading of Sadako and the Pousand
thousand paper cranes by Audra McDonald's at the Wonderland Bookstore on 14th.
That's crazy. I went to the Wonderland Bookstore yesterday and I heard Nora Jones do a reading of
Zero Dark 30. No way. You have to come to the last bookstore though. Kim Cottrell is reading
the guitar tabs of yesterday. A panel of Eurovision participants. And we do a little Halloween sometimes.
Does the Pope dress up? He winks on Halloween. He gets right up next to a microphone. I hear you can
almost hear the eyelashes hit each other.

Middle school is a different world than the one we grew up in.
I'm Dr. Joy, and this is therapy for black girls.
We spend real time on it in our surviving middle school run, bringing in a child psychologist and a psychiatrist who's raising two black girls of his own to talk about.
what's really going on with our kids right now.
So it's literally physiological and neurological and psychological and psychological chaos happening
all the same time.
We got into group chats and gaming, friendships and bullying, and how to tell the difference
between healthy monitoring and the kind of surveillance that erodes trust.
There's belonging.
You could think of belonging as I can be myself and I can still be accepted.
And then there's fitting in.
Spitting in says I have to change who I am in order to avoid rejection.
Then we turn the conversation toward the fathers, sitting down with therapists
Kear Gaines on Black fatherhood and what it means to raise a daughter through this stage.
You don't have on shorts, so you can't do flips, you have on the dressy up across your legs.
That's the range of this run, from screen time to identity to the fathers doing the work at home.
You have to get off her device, but the reality is there's a lot of life out there that we don't want you as your adults in their life to miss out on.
This has been our surviving middle school run, brought to you by the people who spend their career,
is thinking about exactly this.
I'm Dr. Joy.

The Mob Season 1
First Look Photos and Premier date.
Okay, so the mob is this new show,
Ashley, that Hulu is putting out there.
The reason we even have it
on our headlines
is because there are some Bachelor Nation
people a part of it.
Some we know, some we don't know,
but I guess we will get to know them.
Yeah, so this is going to be Hulu ABC's version of Traders.
It is by the people who created Traders.
And in every episode, they will tackle mob movie-inspired jobs to survive.
But every mob family needs a dawn.
And whoever they choose will have absolute power deciding who makes money, who stays, and who ultimately gets whacked.
There is going to be Bruno from Dancing with the Stars, Demi from Secret Lives,
Harry Jossie, who Jousy, who is probably, I want to say the biggest reality star on here.
He's on everything, though.
Yeah, I know.
He's like literally, dude, how do you do anything?
It's because he doesn't have kids in a life.
Chelsea Laskani, who I don't know from selling sunset.
Debbie Mazar, who you know from like entourage and a lot of things younger.
William Belly from Rupal's Dragorese.
And then we have Maria and Shane from our Bachelor franchise.
And okay, I can keep going going.
But Joe Gorga is also on it, which gives me hope that if this is a hit that I can maybe be on it because they're letting Bravo talent over there.
You kind of skipped over to the two Bachelor people.
No, no, I just said I was going to go back.
So it's Maria and Shane from Bachelor.
And Shane is from Taylor's season, which is really interesting that they would put him on
another Hulu ABC show as if he was like a celebrity because like obviously we we don't know him
he's just really a random so they wanted him in my head to get some fame from it like to become a
personality so that possibly they could put him on bachelorette again or bat be the lead of
bachelor and then maria who decided to not ever do paradise but obviously wanted i think to
branch away from the franchise she's now
on the show. And she's like kind of mobby. So I understand that choice. If it does well,
then maybe you and I can both be on it because they chose two bachelor people here.
I would love that. I would love to do a show with you again, Ashley. I would like to do a show with you
too. But I'm like, I'm really bad at gameplay. So I'm not sure. Yeah, but we could be teammates.
Okay. Okay. Yeah. I think it'd be fun. We should really start to push for that.
Okay. I'll call Rob Mills.
I think it'd be a lot of fun in our stages of life.
Like last time we were on a show together,
we were both single trying to figure the world out.
Now we're like pretty settled in.
We're like pretty boring now.
Well, we have a lot less to lose.
I actually think we could like shock the world by like the stuff we do and say
and how far we're willing to go to win because we know we're coming back home to somebody
that loves us.
It doesn't matter.
Yeah, you don't have to be cool.
You don't, I'm not, yeah, I have nothing to gain from cool status.
I only have something to gain.
Financially.
financially.
Yeah, 100%.
We'll be crazy for money.
Actually, I think I prove often with housewives so that I will not be crazy for money.
Oh, we love you.
Ash.
Hey, we haven't talked about this in a while.
Let's close up with this.
Ashley, life is going great.
Your sister is amazing.
You should go and listen to the recaps of the Ultimate Girls Trip, the roaring 20th season.

Often I would meet people who would assume that there was something sort of Ted Bundy about me
because of these sort of characters that I play.
And we're celebrating our 300th episode in style with the one, the only, John Stamos.
There's nobody better to play this character.
I'm like, what is this?
