Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. This is the Ben and Ashley I, I almost famous podcast with IHartRadio. Hey guys, welcome to another episode of Headlines. Ben is still away shooting that show, which is so exciting. Can't wait to hear more about that.
Starting point is 00:00:19 We are joined by one of our favorites and one of our almost-amous family members, Trista Sutter. She's here to break down headlines with me. Hello, Trista. Hello, Ashley. Thanks for having me. Of course.
Starting point is 00:00:33 You're my ultimate fill in. And of course, you know, our wonderful producer, Heather. We love chatting with her too. Hi, Heather. This week, former bachelor, Jake Pelfaca, got married. You have to know Jake, yeah? After all these years? Okay, well, he's 48, and he's getting married for the first time.
Starting point is 00:00:56 It's pretty big news. Yeah, I know. I mean, especially for him. But, yeah, he came on the podcast, gosh, last year or the year before and talked about how he was really in a very happy relationship. And I think at that time he had either proposed or was going to propose. So he made it happen. And it seems like he's happy. I mean, you know, obviously there's been a lot of controversy around Jake with the whole like sit down with him.
Starting point is 00:01:30 Oh my God. Vienna. Vienna. Forever. Forever. Forever. I mean, like once you've seen that, you will not forget it. No.
Starting point is 00:01:43 I think that was basically the first episode of The Bachelor I ever saw. Really? Yes, because it was during Allie's season that they had that catch up at the end of an episode. Yes. Makes so much sense. And I was like, I guess I'm in. You're like, if that's. what I have to look forward to then. Sign me up. Anyway, yes. So obviously, he's been
Starting point is 00:02:09 wrapped in controversy because of that. And I'm just happy for people who find love. He's always been kind and nice to me. He was on Dancing with the Stars. And so we saw each other last year at the Dancing with the Stars reunion. I think I actually, I met her. Oh, that's so I'm thinking about it now, but I'm pretty sure she was there with him. So they seemed really happy in person, and he seems really happy in general. So I'm happy for him. Good. Yes.
Starting point is 00:02:44 Her name is Amy. And he said to People Magazine that he wasn't sure that he would get married and then he found her. And he said, it almost doesn't feel real. There's a sense of peace and certainty that comes with knowing that I get to spend my life with my best friend. she said she didn't try on many wedding dresses. She said she'd actually just just tried on one.
Starting point is 00:03:06 She was in the bridal shop in 20 minutes. What? I knew I wanted something simple, classic, and time was hot damn girl. That is impressive. I mean, and it seems like she wasn't like all about the hype. Like if you walk into a, like I wanted to take my time, you know, not that I was wish, you know, it was a different situation. But I feel like if I was walking into a bridal salon, I would want to be enjoying the champagne and like the time with my mom or bridesmaids. It's not an errand.
Starting point is 00:03:39 But it's whatever you want it to be, I suppose. Totally. Yes. Totally. Amy, she did this. They met on Bumble in 2024. And after their first date lasted for six hours, they both felt like there was something special. They got married on Sunday, June 7th. 7th in California at a place called the Tuscan Rose Ranch.
Starting point is 00:04:03 So congratulations, guys. We're super happy for you. We're going to have to have you both on. Yes, for sure. We're actually, we were already talking about that for L.O.Gs. Yeah. Fantastic. Hopefully.
Starting point is 00:04:16 Becca Tilly appeared in a pride parade this weekend with her fiance, Haley, Keoko, and she shared an emotional reflection. She said that if I could go back and show this video to the 2018 version of myself, just for you guys to know that they were together in 2018. Yeah, they had just, yeah, they're starting a date in 2018, but obviously kept their relationship under wraps for years. She said that she would tell herself to breathe easier and walk lighter. And I'd tell her about the joy and the smiles from strangers and the simple gesture
Starting point is 00:04:47 of waving, signaling the mutual feeling of I see you. I would tell her about a community of beautiful people and proud allies and friends and family in every direction. and the love of your life sitting beside you. And that's so cute. We're so happy for Becca and Haley. They are just wonderful together. Truly, truly wonderful and totally in love.
Starting point is 00:05:10 Yeah. I mean, I just got chills with you saying that. Like, I love, I love their love story and I love their love. I know. It's really something to treasure. So then another one of our friends, you know, when I say friends with Becca, and then I got Carly, also from Chris's season. We're talking about love, but we're talking about revenge situation right now.
Starting point is 00:05:33 She posted something on her Instagram about one of her exes. We don't know which one. And I can almost certainly tell you. I actually, I cannot certainly tell you. I don't think it's about Evan. You don't? No, I do not. Carly just went through like a worse breakup than I would say.
Starting point is 00:05:52 I don't know that she wants me out here quantitating her breakups. but the one that just happened is possibly worse than the Evan one. Got it. And then this could be from somebody in her past before too, but who knows? But she has a message for this particular ex. And she said it's only one X. Yep. She says that one of her exes told her that she could never get a home loan by herself
Starting point is 00:06:18 because she doesn't make enough money. And she didn't make as much as him. And she goes, well, I have some. good news to reveal. I just got pre-approved for what I would say is a very substantial home loan by myself.
Starting point is 00:06:35 So in your face. I love the end. I love it. She was like, in your face. Yeah. Anytime you can prove someone wrong who says something negative or makes you feel
Starting point is 00:06:51 unworthy or less than, I love it. I love that she was able to be like, yeah. Yeah. She got a lot of likes on this, on this post too. I'm like, like, kind of keep posting these things. This could be like your new thing, you know? Angry X messages.
Starting point is 00:07:10 True. What I have proved them wrong for. Like, I need to prove everyone wrong. Oh, I love it. She said in the caption, it's crazy how people can make you feel like you can't accomplish anything without them. And then you just go into your thing. go and do the thing that they said that you couldn't do.
Starting point is 00:07:27 She said, also my 12th grade English teachers, that would never be famous or a singer. And I can't remember his name now, but in your face, too. X-O-X-O. X.O. Very funny. Yes, keep doing that, Carly. We love it.
Starting point is 00:07:40 We love to see it. This is interesting. Cassie Randolph actually got married to her husband, Brighton, six months before destination wedding, and we didn't even know this. We saw their gorgeous wedding photos. and their gorgeous wedding, which happened in December. But she just basically said, hey, happy one-year anniversary.
Starting point is 00:08:02 Because they actually got married on June 3rd, 2025. Wow. Yeah. They did a little Laguna Beach wedding. It was a private thing six months before the destination wedding because their grandparents. Are her grandparents? Oh, no, both of our, both their grandparents. weren't able to make the Costa Rica,
Starting point is 00:08:27 the Costa Rican festivities. That's so sweet. I love that they did it with the grandparents. Yes. So cute. So amazing. I mean, hey, if you have to do something private, go for it.
Starting point is 00:08:41 Like, why do you have to tell everyone? You know, I feel like today's day and age with social media, people feel like they have the right to know everything. They don't. Do it on your own if you can. and live your life for you. So I'm glad that they were able to do that for their family.
Starting point is 00:08:59 Me too. So cute. And like on that note, Michelle Young celebrates her first wedding anniversary with her husband, Jack Lewis. Congratulations, guys. I mean, that's, I can't believe that's also been a year.
Starting point is 00:09:13 That's wild. And I know that you recently talked to Michelle about her health struggles. Can you tell us a little, you know, a little summary of that? I did. She is going through it. And I think this anniversary was even more special because, you know, when you're dealing with an extremely serious health condition that keeps you in bed most days. I know. Her Instagram reel of her day. Like how she gets like exhausted by putting her shoes on was just so sad. But having to deal with that in your first year of marriage, I think is a lot for both of you. You know, for Michelle, I think she feels really guilty that she can't be, you know, the kind of wife that she was as a fiancé, you know.
Starting point is 00:10:08 And then I just feel like he has really stepped up. And that's really hard. As a newlywed, you know, you're expecting to do all these fun. things. She was saying that, you know, they traveled a lot and got to be part of a lot of fun experiences. And they just had to kind of shut all that down because she just, like we're saying, can't get out of bed most days. So I think he's been extremely supportive is what she said. And she's really had to prioritize. And the biggest priority is just her health. And so I feel like in a marriage. It's really hard to do in the beginning. So I just, I send her all of my love.
Starting point is 00:10:55 And I know she's on the right path. She's talking. She's finally, I think, talking to the right doctor. She finally got a diagnosis. And she's doing things that are helping her. So I feel like, you know, there is a light insight where she will be able to kind of, of get back to quote unquote normal life. She has a really positive attitude, even though she's going through so much. And I, yeah, I'm just so thankful that she was willing to come and be vulnerable with our audience and share her struggles because it is so important for everyone out there. I feel like to hear more and more stories about how people have to advocate for yourself. You have to advocate for yourself. You have to keep looking for
Starting point is 00:11:47 different doctors if you're not getting the answers that you feel like you need and you're not improving and your gut is telling you one thing like just keep advocating for yourself and that's kind of what her and i and claire were talking about so she's getting better with whatever treatment she's on but is it supposed to be a really slow progress yeah progression of it i don't think it's something that she's expecting to be cured from you know she can't take medicine and be like, oh, yeah. It's called again. It's called Pots, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia syndrome. And was it based on mold in her house? I think that that might have played a part in it. Yeah, okay. But I don't know if it's the, if it's the reason. Yeah, it may have just brought it on,
Starting point is 00:12:37 but it may have been like sitting dormant a little bit. That's how it was for Ryan. So with Lyme disease, mold like basically opens the gate to say that the lime can come in and wreak havoc and that might be the way that it is with pots as well um it is just a chronic condition and I feel like she's on the right path she's doing things that are helping her but there is no cure yeah that is awful so but you know I have hope because Lyme has no cure yeah unless you unless you get it like right way you see the bull's eye rash and you get on antibiotics. But Lyme doesn't have a cure. So I feel like, you know, Ryan's in a good place. There are other people like Daisy in a great place. There are ways to find relief and get treatment. And I hope that she just continues with those and stay strong.
Starting point is 00:13:32 And she mentioned that at her wedding, she was even feeling very lethargic and not really having a blast. no super low energy yeah through it a little bit yeah and that's so sad because that's one of the happiest days of your life and if you feel like you just have to push through i mean weddings are hard because you're having to talk to a million people as you're trying to enjoy this best day of your life you know so i yeah it's so sad i think she was going through a lot of this behind the scenes Not a lot of people knew about it for a long time. So I'm really proud of her for opening up about it because it can be hard to put yourself out there
Starting point is 00:14:17 and be vulnerable and talk about, you know, your struggles. So I'm just proud of her for finally talking about it. There's power in that. Yeah. Pride is like love. You feel it in your heart. IR Radio. Canada's number one.
Starting point is 00:14:41 streaming app for radio and podcasts, including IHart Pride Canada, your favorite hits and must have party bangers, plus personalized and curated playlists like back in the day pride. Joy is essential and it's also elusive. You can't order it, you can't borrow it, or simply hope it into life.
Starting point is 00:15:13 But now, there's a new and exciting way to start your journey toward a more joyful existence. Joy 101. It's a new podcast hosted by me, Hoda Kotby. Together, guys, we'll have meaningful conversations with the world's most fascinating people. Entertainment legends, sports icons, wellness experts, and everyday people will share how they find, allow, and experience joy. and I'll offer some of my own tips and takes on seeking a more balanced and harmonious life. If you're craving inspiration, support, and useful tools to maximize your joy, tune into these candid, uplifting, and moving on-air chats.
Starting point is 00:15:51 Joy after a breakup. Joy is an empty nester. Joy after a loss. Joy as a caretaker. This new podcast will speak to you. Listen to Joy 101 on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Switching gears. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:13 Taylor Freaky Balls. Bachelorette men have reunited in L.A. And it was posted all about on Bachelor Nations website. They went to the Dodgers game. They met up at a restaurant for some drinks. They had brunch. They did a lot of Instagram content. They did like a whole can I steal you for a second thing?
Starting point is 00:16:41 and like a passing the phone thing. And basically the reason we're talking about this is that we think that they were flown out there, perhaps by production, to get some attention, to get some press, to get people maybe excited about this group of guys. Because especially in the theories of our producer, Heather, we think that Taylor's season is getting,
Starting point is 00:17:11 closer to possibly airing. Or maybe they're just trying to get them out for Paradise reasons. I don't know. Like Paradise, they've been pretty clear, won't be starting to film until about a year from now. So I don't know. Maybe they're just trying to keep the guys as relevant as possible.
Starting point is 00:17:31 Yeah. And also, it's kind of like a throwback to when we used to do, I think it was before you were even on, we used to do like little reunions. and they weren't connected to the show. So, you know, obviously we didn't have the podcast or Bachelor Nation, like the website. But it was a way to like for all of us to just get together.
Starting point is 00:17:52 And it could have been just a get together. But I do think that there's probably. So there's like 13 guys together in a suite. What? A lot of guys. Yeah. What do you mean in one suite? I'm assuming in like one, not in a hotel.
Starting point is 00:18:10 Tell suite. I was like, a Dodger suite. No, no, no, no, no, no. And a Dodgers suite. I was like, I'm sorry they put bump heads in a hotel suite. That's so funny.
Starting point is 00:18:21 No, no, no. Okay, so no. They went on, like, had different explorations, you know, they went to the Dodgers game. And then. So I don't know if you've been contacted by Katie, but earlier this year, they did some kind of Dodgers thing
Starting point is 00:18:37 where the Dodgers were asking them to, like fill this sweet. And Katie mentioned something to me. And it might have been around the Bachelorette reunion. She was like, and if anyone's available, you can come out to the Dodgers game. I think the Dodgers were just... It's only them and one of the Goldens. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:55 The golden girl that, I'm sorry, I'm just sliver, her name's slipping in my mind right now, but it's the one that is the house manager who has the nephew on the Dodgers. Carol. Carol. Carol, yes, yes. She's so cute. Yes, I loved her. I actually chose her for the end.
Starting point is 00:19:12 Yes, me too. But it could be like, I'm sure. Well, yeah, right. So it could be that they're, you know, utilizing that Dodgers thing, but they're using it to be able to get these guys out there. And for whatever reason, I mean, I think it's great that they're doing something to get these guys out there because they are great guys, and they got this opportunity cut short because the show didn't even air or hasn't aired yet. So I think it's great that they're kind of promoting them and getting them to create content so we can get to know them a little bit more.
Starting point is 00:19:54 And then if they air the show, I'll be even happier because I want to see it. You're very supportive of Taylor. I tried. I try to be. And honestly, it's because I got to meet her. And I feel like through that experience, she became a friend and one of us. And I feel for her, I'm also an empath. And I feel obviously she has made mistakes and she's owned up to those mistakes and done jail time and all of that.
Starting point is 00:20:27 And so I just feel like why not give her the benefit of the doubt? She's really struggling, it seems like. And I don't want to be part of that for her. You know. She and her supposed winner have been, like, posting things, right? Uh-huh. Do you think it's in promotion of a season airing and it's all strategic? Or do you think they're actually trying to make things a thing?
Starting point is 00:20:53 I wasn't, I was not getting that they were trying to promote anything. I could, of course, be wrong about that. But I feel like it was personal. It was, you know, I can't remember what she did, but it was. It was him and somebody else, and she was, like, FaceTiming them or something. Yeah, right. She's posted FaceTime clips. Yes.
Starting point is 00:21:14 And you know that Heather is convinced that this is all just thought through. Yeah. And I'm just naively wanting it to be. Same. They're really trying to give it a go. Same. Same. And it seems like he is, you know, supportive of her.
Starting point is 00:21:32 I don't know anything, you guys. I don't, you know, it's not like I talk to Taylor on a regular basis, but I just see what everyone else sees. And I have to believe to. You know, I try to give people, I try to not be a conspiracy theorist. And, you know, I just think that they connected on the show and she made a mistake with Dakota and maybe he forgave her. Who knows? Who knows? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:22:02 Who knows? Who knows? I'm hoping for the most romantic outcome. Yes, me too. Moving on to our health news of the week, this is great. Katie Thurston says that her latest scans show no evidence of disease in her liver amid her stage four breast cancer. Guys, we are so happy to hear this because if you remember last week, we talked about how she wanted to go on the cruise without having to, like, think about things.
Starting point is 00:22:30 Yeah. Okay, so on the booby broadcast, she put liver, update, no evidence of disease. Pet scan will be at the end of the month, probably best, so the results don't have an impact on our upcoming trip to Alaska. I'm not really sure what I'm expecting with the pet. I don't believe there were clear margins with my DMX and only two lymph nodes were removed, but also what they did remove, it showed great response to treatment. So I can only hope whatever is possibly left hanging around is stable or shrinking. Okay, it sounds like she may have had a biopsy this week. Yeah, maybe that was the DMX. She also
Starting point is 00:23:03 said, we still don't really have answers to elevated AST ALT yet, which are liver enzymes, which means we continue to hold off on taking Kiskali or any drug. Okay. So she still has to wait to see what's going on with the liver enzymes, but that's good news. Yeah, definitely good news that there's no cancer it looks to be in her liver. Yeah. Okay, great. Fee-U.

You can't order it, you can't borrow it, or simply hope it into life. But now, there's a new and exciting way to start your journey toward a more joyful existence. Joy 101. It's a new podcast hosted by me, Hoda Kotby.
Starting point is 00:24:24 Together, guys, we'll have meaningful conversations with the world's most fascinating people. Entertainment legends, sports icons, wellness experts, and everyday people will share how they find, allow, and experience joy. And I'll offer some of my own tips and take some. on seeking a more balanced and harmonious life. If you're craving inspiration, support, and useful tools to maximize your joy, tune into these candid, uplifting, and moving on-air chats. Joy after a breakup. Joy as an empty nester.
Starting point is 00:24:55 Joy after a loss. Joy as a caretaker. This new podcast will speak to you. Listen to Joy 101 on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Kelly Flanagan. she had to go to the ER. I mean, this is much of a headline, but, you know,
Starting point is 00:25:16 it's definitely the light one to wrap up the episode. Yeah. Kelly Flanagan went to the emergency room because of a gardening injury. Now, she was stumbling. She, like, was about to sprain her ankle, but then she, you know, she got her balance with her wrist and then ended up spraining her wrist.
Starting point is 00:25:36 Oh, my gosh. Yep. And she went to the emergency room? She went to the emergency room, I guess, for an x-ray. turned out to just be sprained. Good for her for checking her. The best part is though that her mom was with her and her mom was like, where are the cute doctors?
Starting point is 00:25:52 My daughter's single. I'm like, now that is the memorable part of the story. Totally. I'm always, I used to definitely debate like just going to the hospital like cafeteria. Just being like, you know. You're like Grey's Anatomy. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:26:09 Yeah. I know it's like it's a doctor-daughter thing. thing. Totally. But also just like every girl like marrying a doctor is a great way of going. Yeah. Why not? Did your dad ever set you up with with any doctor friends?
Starting point is 00:26:24 We would always say this. And we still say this for our friends. We'll be like, dad, are there any cute young partners for so-and-so? And then he's like, I don't know what cute is. And I'm like, dad, you're a human being. You know who's handsome. Okay. constantly.
Starting point is 00:26:41 And yes, there was. And there was a really cute one. And he wasn't not age appropriate. He was probably like 10 years older than me. Maybe eight. Yeah. And he was cute. He looked like Michael Boubley.
Starting point is 00:26:54 He was like Colombian. Yeah. Super cute, but married. Accent. But married. But married. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:05 Not available. Yeah. Well, you know. Good on you for trying. The reason that I ever thought that he was an option, though, is because at the party that this guy was at, this was like literally 15 years ago. I don't even know why this is coming into my brain right now, but he wasn't wearing a wedding ring. And I was like, oh, my God. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:27:23 Dad, what the, how did you not mention him? And then he was like, he's married. I'm like, oh, he just forgot to put on his wedding ring. Yeah. Of course, of course the Michael Boublea look alike with swag. Yeah. Doesn't wear a something ring. Right.
Starting point is 00:27:42 All right. Well, Trista, thank you so much for joining us. Until next time, I've been Ashley. I've been Trista. Bye. Follow the Ben and Ashley I, almost famous podcast on IHartRadio or subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts. This is an IHart podcast. Guaranteed human.
