Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:00:38 Yep, that's me, Clifford Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits, my basketball and college football journey, or my career in sports media. Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show. This is a place for raw, unfiltered conversations with athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated. So let's get to it. Listen to The Clifford show on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:01:04 And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok podcast network on TikTok. On The Look Back at it podcast. From 1979, that was a big moment for me. 84 is big to me. I'm Sam J. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick a year, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it. With our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors.
Starting point is 00:01:25 Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s. 84 was a wild. I mean, it was a wild year. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque.
Starting point is 00:01:47 Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. This is the almost famous podcast with IHartRadio. Hi, guys, it's Trista Sutter back on the Will You Accept This Advice podcast? And I've got Michelle Money and Molly Meznik.
Starting point is 00:02:24 We're talking so much fun. fun stuff and I've got some rapid fire questions for them right now. Best dog hack you've learned so far. Ooh. I got them. I don't know how I got a dog hack, but the thing that I've learned very quickly that is the best thing for a brand new puppy is like even though you want to play with them all day, sleep, sleep, sleep, sleep. Yes.
Starting point is 00:02:47 She just took a two-hour nap and woke up so sweet. And like when she takes a 30-minute nap, she's bitey. You know, she's like the little... And so. Sleep is so important. I would agree with that. I love it. So important. Just like babies. Just like babies. Never wake a sleeping baby. Never, ever wake a sleeping baby. Let them nap. Which is probably also a really good thing for for you in Molly in making her little area where she sleeps, like isolated into herself so that you can't, she won't be bothered. Yeah. Yeah. We really quickly, because multi-poos are known for getting like their vocal. dogs and they are known for getting separation anxiety and I'm like I cannot have a dog like that with my job I'm like in and out all the time and so literally day one we would just like set her in there
Starting point is 00:03:38 and walk away and she is totally fine like right at the beginning of this I set her in her pen and take a peek like she's totally independent and fine on her own and I know it's hard to do because when they're puppies they're so cute and you just want to be with them all the time so true you know our dog was was I don't know know that he tank our our yorky was definitely had a lot of separation anxiety and at one point we tried the CBD um pills or whatever have you guys heard about this that it relaxes yeah dogs yeah would you ever try that if it's something that when he we did that with lobo and it really helped did you yeah that's awesome it totally helps i love it um because why not whatever's out yeah that's my theory at least
Starting point is 00:04:25 Totally. Okay. What three things should you be prepared to likely happen within the first year of owning a dog? And you guys are brand new to this. So maybe you can't answer that question yet. But, well, I will say, like, what I've learned is, like, it's amazing how fast they grow. Like, Ben has put on, like, five pounds in a week. And, like, even just looking back one week, he has, you can see how much he's growing. And, and, like, to Molly's point, like, because of that. they do need a ton of sleep. So, you know, the sleep is really important. But every day I've like gotten to know him better. It's like a relationship, right? Like the more time you spend with someone, you build that bond and you build that trust and that like, I don't know, like I feel like after what has it been like nine days of having him,
Starting point is 00:05:16 there's this beautiful connection that's like starting to form that is so cool. And like I wasn't really, I don't know. like I didn't realize how beautiful that process is. I know, right? It is so beautiful. I love it. I'm just so jealous. I wish I was living in either or both of your cities
Starting point is 00:05:37 and could just come play with your puppies because they're the cutest. It makes me, have you guys heard of puppy yoga? Yeah. Yes. I just went like a month ago. Oh my gosh. And there were mostly there. Is it amazing?
Starting point is 00:05:53 I mean literally. this big, like this big, so tiny. And they just, they do it every weekend or maybe every other weekend in Denver. And the one this weekend is miniature husky puppies. I'm like, oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. So really like no one's doing yoga though, right? You're not really? I didn't do yoga at all. At all. Not at all. So Max was kind of struggling that week. I can't even remember what was going on, but I was like, we are going to puppy yoga as a family.
Starting point is 00:06:29 This is family date day. And of course, Blake's Lee and I had all the puppies and Ryan and Max were doing yoga. So cute. It was so funny. But if you need like an endorphin, like release or whatever,
Starting point is 00:06:45 go find puppy yoga. Or just, gosh, go to a breeder. I know that Max's girlfriend's sister is going to pick out a golden this weekend and I so badly want to go, but I can't. I was just going to invite myself because really there's nothing cuter than just hanging out with a bunch of puppies. And the thing that I love about dogs is like when you're with them, you have to be so
Starting point is 00:07:08 present with them, especially as puppies because you have to keep your eye on them. And so I've just noticed even just in this last week, like I am so much more like present in my life because of this dog. So even just getting a little hit of that, like from the. like a dog yoga makes a ton of sense, like why people do it. Yeah. Yeah, for real. I wish there were like more of that. Like there need to be more of that because I would show up. I was having a horrible day yesterday and I was like, I just, I just need, I would have loved to just show up at somebody's house with a bunch of puppies. But yeah, yeah, unconditional love.
Starting point is 00:07:44 Easier said than done. It's so like, yeah, so cliche, but it's so true. It's so true. It's so excited to see, like, first thing in the morning when she wakes up is like the very best. like she hasn't seen me a million years and she's so excited. It's like a drug. Like the opposite. She's like, don't speak to me. Oh my gosh. That is so true. Okay. How will you share responsibilities with the kids? Like are you going to have Riley do certain things when it comes to me? I'm being really realistic about it. I know that the novelty wears off super fast. So I'm not like you're in charge of picking up poop and you're in charge of feeding. It's just like it's a collective. We're all doing it together. I don't want to make it some hard task for her. I don't want her to resent the dog.
Starting point is 00:08:33 Right. The fact that she even likes the dog is a big deal. So we're just taking it day by day. I don't know. I don't know what the hell I'm doing, you guys. I'm with you. You're not alone. You are not alone. So with my kids, we really didn't force any responsibility either. But as like they're obviously way older than Riley and can be on their own when we're away like for work or whatever. And if Ryan's working and I'm traveling or something's going on, I'm like, okay, here's your responsibility. You need to wake up for school and take the dog for a walk. You know, like, so I think it'll, it'll just naturally happen that you'll, you'll figure out, you know, how she can help out.
Starting point is 00:09:19 So this is a podcast about video games. Kind of. It's also about friendship. Definitely. And chaos. Unavoidably. Welcome to It's Dangerous to Go Alone. A podcast where we talk games, culture, nostalgia, and immediately go off topic. There is no gatekeeping.
Starting point is 00:09:34 There is no skill check. If you win a game on Easy Mode, we support you. If you've never touched a controller, honestly, same energy for some of us. It's fun, it's chaotic, it's friendship with a loose gaming theme. And somehow we keep getting away with it. You should listen. Stream It's Dangerous to Go Alone on the free IHeart Radio app. Or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:09:51 Another podcast from some SNL, late night comedy guy. Not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Jim Gaffigan to Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman, help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel, help an Acapella band with their between songs banter. There's that worst singer in the group? The worst?
Starting point is 00:10:14 Yeah. Me. Is there anything to the idea that because you're from Harvard, you only got in because your parents made a huge donation. The yard herds, right? That's the name. The Harvard Yard, but they're open. Do you have a name suggestion?
Starting point is 00:10:30 We're open. Since you guys are middle-aged, one erection. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Humor me. I need some jokes to make me seem funny. Imagine an Olympics where D.Hartreve. Doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games.
Starting point is 00:10:57 Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:11:21 A win is a win. I don't care what I'm saying. Yep, that's me, Cliver Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football, or my career in sports media. Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined. And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show. This is a place for raw, unfiltered conversations with some of your favorite athletes,
Starting point is 00:11:46 creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated. One week, I'll take you behind the scenes of the biggest, moments in sports and entertainment, and the next we'll talk about life, mental health, purpose, and even music. The Clifford Show isn't just a podcast. It's a space for honest conversations, stories that don't always get told, and for people who are chasing something bigger. So if you've ever supported me or you're just chasing down a dream, this is right where
Starting point is 00:12:11 you need to be. Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok Podcast Network on TikTok. pet insurance would you is it something you're licking into that veteranarians have recommended what are you guys we did it just to start um everyone like i've asked a ton of people and it's like yes 50% say yes 50% say no yes why don't we just get it and we can always cancel so we did it and i just went to the vet and i just submitted my claim and it paid me right back so i'm like oh this is actually kind of nice
Starting point is 00:12:54 so why would people say no Because they think you won't need it, you know? But I kind of was like, I've never had a dog. And so I have a feeling when something is mildly wrong, I may panic. And I'm going to want to go to the vet. And so it may be a little more overreactive than someone who is used to dogs. I was like, we might as well just have it for now and see how it goes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:20 Yeah. I was just coming on doing it. We didn't do it with Lobo. And every time we took him in the vet, it was like so expensive. And I'm like, let's just two dog insurance. Goldens will eat like dish towels and then they have to have surgery and that costs $5,000. Yes. Totally.
Starting point is 00:13:38 Yeah. We're going to do it. Yeah. Yeah. I did just hear about, I don't and we haven't. And you know what? After having this conversation, I literally want to go do it right now. Because I feel like once I start talking about it, that's when something happens, right?
Starting point is 00:13:54 And I've looked into it in the past. and just never pulled the trigger. But when Sophie really got sick, she ended up having a mask. And, oh, it was horrible. And, you know, this wasn't on our mind at all then. We just wanted to take care of her. But it was really expensive. So, yeah, I feel like it's, you know, you have insurance for your family.
Starting point is 00:14:22 Why not look into it for your fur babies, you know. But I would. For anyone out there, just shop around, ask your vet for recommendations. That's what I'll be doing after we get off this call. Okay, so last question. Is there a dog item that you would splurge on? Like a Louis Vuitton carrier? Or, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:14:50 I mean, I will say, I just bought him like an actual dog house. it's like a modern looking like instead of the crate. And it was like $600 and Mike still doesn't know about it. But because they're growing so fast, he's like, he's going to need a bigger one anyway. And so instead of his crate, it's like this cool looking like actual house. Oh, it was ridiculous.
Starting point is 00:15:16 It was a ridiculous purchase. I love that. I mean, I kind of what I'm doing, I didn't want my house to look like it's been taken over by a dog. I wanted my house. Yeah. I'm weird like that. And so her,
Starting point is 00:15:30 she has a downstairs crate and then an upstairs sleeping crate, but they look like side tables. Like it looks like a piece of your couch, but it's actually a crate. So like it fits the aesthetic of the home. Yes. And then I created outside like her potty area. It looks like a white picket fence with grass and a house.
Starting point is 00:15:49 And there's like a little fire hydrant in there. Stop it. We need photos. We need photos. I just wanted to look cute. and like be aesthetically pleasing. So like that stuff is so. Totally.
Starting point is 00:15:59 But I don't know. A obnoxious. It's not unnecessary. I mean, if you've got the, the means and you want to like create that aesthetic in your house, then go for it. Like,
Starting point is 00:16:11 why not? It's actually really fun. There's really cool dog stuff out there now. They're for real. Is there like, tell me more? Like what else? Well,
Starting point is 00:16:21 like you can, yeah, like even just like collars, like cool collars that you can get. and like the harnesses and yeah like their beds and like there's all these toys like like lick toys and like all these there's so many things I just like like dog specific blow dryer hair dryer no yeah I have it because it's like not as loud as a regular blow dryer so it's like for your hair no no no for your dog it's for the dog but like it's like it's like a soft funny yeah
Starting point is 00:16:53 Jason's like, you did not order a dog hair dryer. I'm like, you better. That is so funny. Like the ridiculous things that we're about to do in the next few years is embarrassing. Okay, Michelle, this is maybe an idea for you because I feel like when we were looking for houses, because we wanted to have like a dog area in new builds or you can renovate. So, you know, hey, Mike, let's renovate. Have a little doggy area where it's like a built-in.
Starting point is 00:17:23 shower, like a little shower and a crate. And like, it's like in a mudroom or whatever. But I, I, that's a dream, that's a dream of mine in the future to have like a little room for my dog. We have a really cool dog room and we have a dog, uh, bath in the garage. Amazing. I mean, I love it. Yes. It's been so nice. It makes it so convenient. It's like a built in like, a built-in like little play pen with a door that slides. And like I did wallpaper it and I did put photos of all the dogs up everywhere. And I'm going to make some curtains. And I do have a doggy door that's like and a rug.
Starting point is 00:18:03 And yeah, it's obnoxious. Oh, I love it. I love it. I love it. I want a picture. Yes. Totally. Even if you just send it to us, we don't need to share.
Starting point is 00:18:13 I'll send it to you guys. We want to see. We want to see. Okay, you guys, I love my time with both of you. It's so much fun. Thank you so much. Thank you. It's fun to talk to other women who love dogs. Thank you, Trista.
Starting point is 00:18:28 Oh, gosh, of course. I know that Benny is going to bring your family so much joy. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Positive. That's so true. It's all going to work out. And Molly, I can't wait to meet me in person.
Starting point is 00:18:40 Like, I just want to book a flight to Utah and Seattle. It's so cute. Go see some puppies. All right, ladies. Well, you guys were my first guest for Will You Accept this advice? and I am so thrilled. That was so much fun. You made me so happy.
Starting point is 00:18:54 And I think it was great advice for, you know, for baby parents and real baby parents. So good luck with the babies. I'll be watching on Instagram as well the world. And I'll talk to you guys soon. Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy, not quite.
