This is the Ben and Ashley I, Almost Famous Podcast with IHart Radio.
Welcome back to Almost Famous. It's Ben and Lauren back to breakdown. The final episode.
Are you sad, Lauren?
I'm kind of sad.
I feel like they left us with like
something to be desired.
Right?
I don't know.
Let's hear more about that in a second.
The final episode of the Real Housewives
Ultimate Girls Trip, Roaring 20th.
Before we get into the breakdown,
you just said, Lauren,
it left you with something to be desired.
Can you please elaborate?
Well, I guess we did see like some fighting
from the Rhode Islanders
towards the end
and they didn't tell us what they were fighting about
and that was kind of like leaving me on a cliffhanger
but I guess that's just supposed to have us watch
Rhode Island
and then they were like okay
let's pop champagne fireworks and we're going to go
party away. I don't know. I thought that would be a little more
conclusion with like the
the core group from the girl's trip.
Yeah like we didn't get that final scene of them.
We did
hear from Andy during this episode that he had heard the trip was going well.
I was actually surprised about it a little bit because I felt like the trip was not going well
for many that were on the bus.
I guess all things considered in Housewives world, this was heaven.
Okay.
Yeah, I think this is pretty even keeled.
People like Luan was taking criticism really well, actually, after a drunken night that we saw.
Yeah, I think it was going pretty well.
I think just enough drama to keep people going.
But I enjoyed watching this season because it was like palatable.
Like it wasn't just full on screaming all the time.
I agree with that.
I actually think I, looking back, learned a lot about the Housewives franchise from this.
I learned about my new favorite character on the house size.
Kyle?
No.
I do like Kyle.
It's Chanel, right?
of Chanel, yes.
I think Chanel's every scene that she's in, it makes me laugh.
Gold, gold, yes.
She just, I feel like she's a good hang.
She's funny.
She's logical.
And she's doing, like, she's just going to go after.
I think she's hilarious.
Yes, I will concur.
And now I'll watch Housewives of Dubai because I've never seen that either.
She's definitely a new favorite.
Vicki's a new favorite because I love how she wants to just be in her bed.
and warm and cozy.
And then obviously we got the O.G. Luann,
who is still my favorite after all of this.
Let's talk a little bit about Luann.
This episode does start with the solution to the cliffhanger from last episode,
where she is in the bus.
She's late to the bus.
And it is brought to her attention that she has been annoying and is annoying most of the people.
I found it fascinating because you don't usually see this on television too often.
I do think it's something I'm learning to appreciate about.
the housewives. They didn't back down. They said, no, Luann, you have annoyed all of us. Now let's
move forward. How do we, you know that truth. What do we do about it now? And Louanne, as you said,
did respond well. Yeah. She was like, sorry, I've actually just been having such a good time that I
haven't realized that everyone isn't like kind of on my level right now. I feel like she just felt
safe with all these girls was like we're on vacation we're having fun there's drinks that's all the way
and wants and she thought that everyone's like just talking and singing all the time too um but some
people need like a breath do you do you ever find that happens with you where you're in an environment
you're having a blast and you at some point look back you like maybe i was not seeing things the
way everybody else was. Yeah, definitely. It's just like overthinking central after a big
loud get together. So I mean, it's it's rare for me because I'm an overthinker like that,
but I definitely could see how that's happening. Like everyone's having such a good time.
It's like you're ignoring like the person in the corner who's like Vicky, who's just like,
please, I need silence. Yeah, I get that way sometimes. There's a few moments where it stands out to me
where I'll look back and be like, I read that situation completely and accurately.
And now I'm the idiot in the room.
I mean, I know that Luan will watch this and see, especially the Miami trip, I think,
where she was at the dinner table or the lunch table and just spewing, spewing, spewing words,
and she's like, yeah, that was actually pretty bad.
So she's going to actually have the instant replay, or not instant replay, months replay,
and see it firsthand rather than our memories just making you the shit up.
Yeah, that's tough.
I don't shut upon anybody.
I'm actually shocked I ever did TV.
I think about that every day of my life, Ben.
Yeah, yeah.
Like, how did I do that?
Because I beat myself up over the stupid as the things and the idea that I had to watch
myself back, how did I not have an absolute meltdown?
Well, that's why you were so good, though.
Like, you were, I mean, it's been exhausting being in your head, but you did play it all very
well. Well, thank you. That does give me peace of mind. I need to hear that because there's,
there'll be many nightmares. Yes, you wake up like, oh, why did I say that? You can't fall
asleep. Do you fall asleep with a TV on or anything to distract yourself from your thoughts?
Just raw dog it. No, I just, just raw dog it. Okay. I love that. This means so many different
things now and it's not what it meant when I was growing up. Yeah, I just raw dog life.
That's so great.
Yeah, it's fun.
Hey, so the solution with Luann does exist.
I do feel like it's a very special moment.
And is the moment we kind of all want to see at the conclusion of this really fun trip.
They all come together.
They mention how much they love each other.
And it does set up for what I feel like is kind of a team coming in to this final episode.
They're going to walk into that mansion as a team in support of each other more than
some isolated events.
Before we dive into what actually happens at the mansion and all the details of who we meet
and who's there and if it's special or not,
there is a very weird scene that just pops up in the middle of this show with a guy.
Wendy's?
Oh.
What'd you say?
Wendy's going to Wendy's?
Oh, no, it goes for Wendy's.
They paid a lot of money for that stop.
They need a lot of money for that stuff.
Okay, yes.
What guy?
So Vicky checks into the hotel.
exhausted as you know what
I get it Vicky I'd be too all you want to do
is go to your room if you have 45 minutes
and just close your eyes lay on the bed without anybody
talking around you and there's this guy
that carries her bags up he's holding a
glass of wine I watched it three times
trying to figure out if at any point
we get clarity on who this man is
we don't and then it never comes back around
it just ends like who was he
was he endangering Vicky
what's his role there he's in her room
I guess there was a collection of fans in the Berkshires, and they were welcoming them.
And it ended up being like four in the morning, which is weird that they would stick around.
And obviously they were all drinking while waiting because this man was drunk.
I think he was just a fan.
And then Luan was like, do you know be funny if you help Vicky with her bags to her room?
And Vicki was unaware of who he was either.
But he was just a fan that was doing what he was told by Luan.
but yeah he was not leaving quick enough though no it was like uh it was yeah you know we all have
had moments where it's like hey it's time for things to depart we all move on it's better he was lingering
he was soaking in that housewives moment with the ogy vicky he did get a screen time so he will
watch this and i mean even if he looks odd he's going to get a screen time and vicky's like who are you
I don't know who you are.
Get out of my room.
So I think she was actually,
she handled it pretty well
because she was just as confused as us.
Love her for that.
They also,
I wonder if there was a prompt to,
for the girls to play pranks on their cast members
because Kyle also pulls a prank in on Porsche
with the producer hiding under the bed
and grabs Porsche's leg
because the hotel they're staying in,
the red line in,
is allegedly haunted.
And so I'm sure
this was a play on that.
So they're having fun with each other,
I think is the point.
That's nice.
Yeah.
Keep it light, everyone.
I hope that no one takes a prank too far.
This prank reminded me of a prank I played on Ashley
when we were younger.
I don't know if I said this,
but she was in seventh grade
watching all classic horror movies.
And so she just saw The Exorcist.
And I hid underwerexie.
her bed for like an hour and a half waiting for her to go to bed and the second she like kind of
started falling asleep I like rocked the bed and she because you know the bed moves in the exercise
and she flew off and then I grabbed her foot from underneath the bed it was the what did she do
most like just like my mom said she was waiting to see her reaction for also the hour and a half
and she just went white and just you know obviously leaped and screamed but like I was like that is a very
very perfect prank on Kyle's part because
Did Ashley get mad at you?
Yes, yes.
Yeah.
Very mad.
And then my mom was like,
what kind of mother am I facilitating this prank too?
My young daughter.
Anyway, that was funny.
That is, I want to ask Ashley about this.
I want to hear.
Oh, yeah.
If she, you know, if she remembers it.
She does.
She remembers everything.
Yes.

The WNBA playoffs are about.
to begin. The talent is insane and the personalities are giving main character energy. And of course,
the fans love it. But 30 years ago, when the league first started, it was a different story.
I remember sitting with a couple of male writers all whining about, oh, what are they going to do
if they break a nail? No one's going to show up. But from the very beginning, there were two teams
that captured everyone's attention. The comments were the real deal. I mean, come on. The Liberty

I'm Kerry Champion, and this is biggest rivalries of all time season two.
The New York Liberty versus the Houston Commons, the very first rivalry of the WNBA.
They picked us to finish last, and they picked them to finish first.
That's all you need to know.

Carl thought he was living a normal drama-free life until the messages started.

For nine months, someone infiltrated every aspect of Carl's life threatening to ruin him.
Cyberstalking, swatting, extortion, impersonation.
And then the text threats escalated.

Yes, apartment.

The Bluestone Manor is the reason they're in this area.
the final party of the ultimate girls trip is themed the Gilded Age.
Now, who thought that asking a bunch of housewives to dress like the Gilded Age was a good idea.
I'm not saying these housewives are very, very intelligent people.
That is not what I'm saying here.
But we've learned through this season that references and historical
events or maybe not their expertise.
It's not where they spend their time studying.
All I kept thinking about was Joe Ellen
when they asked her what the 4th of July was about.
Yeah.
You know, I'm like, how is she going to know
what the Gilda Day is?
100%. And so I know they're all Googling this.
We're definitely going to get a bunch of fur jackets,
which is, you know, great.
Does Ashley own a fur jacket?
Well, she owns a fur jacket.
but I don't think she ever thinks to wear it.
She always has this stupid
like trench coat looking thing
from Abercrombie that she wears over like formal attire
and it drives me nuts.
So I asked her after watch it.
So like which coat did you bring?
She goes and I'm like waiting for the answer
and she goes, I think it was the Abercrombie
one. I'm like, I'm going to kill you.
Because these women are wearing
the most extravagant fox furs ever
which I know is also a touchsy subject
which is probably why she doesn't wear fur all the time anyway.
I don't enjoy the idea of a fox being on somebody's head.
I love a fox.
I know.
And so every single woman there had a fur jacket on it.
And I just want her to blend it in a little bit.
You know, I want her to not stick out so much by wearing an Abercarby trench coat.
So it was freezing.
It was freezing there.
Yeah, I'm sure a lot of them were fake too, yeah.
Yeah, like just rock a fake fur.
It doesn't have to be real.
Nobody's going to be more impressed that you have alpaca on your back.
you can find a fake fur that looks great and is warm and cozy.
Ashley, as we've learned through doing this with you,
doesn't think about her fashion as much as some of these others.
Absolutely not.
But you would want to be warm because you could literally see their breath.
Interesting note from this party too is there's no food to be found.
It looks like through this whole party.
In fact, as I mentioned, one of my favorite Chanel is commenting on the fact that she's
so hungry, she's going to eat the decorative grapes. Yeah, that's, it's rude. It's a terrible
host. One of the rules by Durinda is no food upstairs. Guess what? No food to be found. You can't
even bring the food upstairs. So maybe she's actually a big stickler and worried about her home
being destroyed that she didn't even offer food this time. Well, you obviously and I both know
Ashley, and we know that if there's no food somewhere, Ashley does not do. Actually does not
do well. She is not one to just like stay quiet about it. She's going to be going through your
refrigerator if there's no food in the house. What did she do? It's true. This whole party,
I was thinking, I don't know how Ashley's surviving. So much socializing with people she doesn't
know in uncomfortable dresses, not a warm coat, freezing, heels, no food. It's a nightmare for her.
I don't know how she survived.
But there were hors d'oeuvres being passed around.
I'm sure, like, you know, a little piece of salmon or something isn't going to keep your belly full.
But she obviously had a one liner in here.
One line was like I never say no to food or something.
So there she is being absolutely classic Ashley.
And since we're just talking about Ashley, we let's just do the other time we saw her in this episode and that'll be it.
Okay.
Um, she is introducing herself to Luan.
And I'm just like, can you just like be confident and look at Louan?
And I just like, it's so nice to meet you.
I've been watching you for so long.
You're blah, blah, blah, rather than just be like, hi, I don't, I don't really know what I'm doing here.
Like the double kiss on each side of the cheek.
Like, Kiss Kiss Kiss is like classic Luan.
She should have known that going in to be prepared for that, you know?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
she's just like wow wow this is just wow and crazy i'm like they're going to treat you like you're a child
if you can't just say hello normally it's her love you yeah but it's her and rosy together they're
both doing this rosy is if you look at that scene again everybody's talking amongst each other
and rosy's like doing what i said i did last week where she's repeating herself over and over
until somebody hears what she's actually saying because she's nervous yes she's excited and she thinks
she has something cool to say that's going to make her fit in. And so she's just repeating
herself. And it gets really awkward to watch because nobody's paying attention to her. And they
never do. No one's listening to what anyone's saying, truly. No, no, it's not just that everybody's
like speaking past each other. And she's so excited to meet Luanne. Yes. You have like a legit like
celebrity moment. I've seen this with Ashley like my, the one best memory is the first time she met Lance
Bass.
Oh, gosh.
It was one of the funniest, like, interactions I've ever witnessed with my own eyes is her
excitement and her nervousness and this, like, her spewing, like, these random things as fast
as she possibly could.
Uh-huh.
Yes.
Like, I was in a magazine when I was little and I had most posters on my wall.
And it just so, yeah.
At least, like, with Lance Bass, she had, like, a lineup of good things to say, Lou Ann.
She's just like, it's cool to me.
Yeah, but whatever.
We'll give Ashley some grace there.
It was a rough night, rough, rough night.
It's also like a whole bunch of ladies just like trying to talk over each other.
So no one's having substantial conversation.
So you're just trying to make like a good enough impression.
We really don't see any conversations existing until the Rhode Island ladies sit down in the parlor room.
Honestly, I am loyal to Rhode Island.
It's the only season I've watched front to back.
they really annoyed me during this episode.
Like I did not enjoy who they were at this party.
And I don't know if that's just because they did feel like outsiders.
And so they kind of had to sit together.
And I don't know if any of them actually really like each other that much in general.
They're just comfortable seeing another person.
But they did, I mean, they did kind of distract from the party in a lot of ways.
Yeah.
But I think that's kind of what a Housewives party feels like it is at this point.
All season, we've seen people.
distract from the party. So true. So true. I mean, I think it was, you know, like, their
turn to argue, I guess, like, everyone along the way has already had their little arguments.
And it's just because they're the unknown ones that it seemed to be even more disruptive.
Because they're like, we don't even know you. Like, what are you even arguing about?
It's like, well, we just filmed our season and awaiting the reunion. So they didn't get the,
like, this was before they filmed the reunion. So they didn't get to a chance to,
to hash it out yet.
Like this was the first time to hash it out.
Okay.
That makes sense timing wise.
Yeah.
So like they haven't seen each other since filming wrapped,
but not the reunion wrapped.
Okay.
Yeah.
So emotions are strong.
And everyone was coming for Joe Ellen for some reason.
We don't really know.
She's the Antichrist, according to Liz.
What else did we see?
Oh, Rosie yelling at Kelsey.
It was just all classic,
but we don't know what any of it was were truly about.
Yeah.
it just was a lot of yelling.
It did feel distracting.
Durinda is hosting this party.
And it does seem at the core of all of this.
Durinda's hope for this evening is to celebrate 20 years.
It does feel like she wants it to be a celebration and emotional as they look back on the time together for the Real Housewives franchise,
which helps that Andy Cohen shows up.
It makes sense that he shows up.
Once he shows up, it does feel to me like the vibe in the house changes.
It goes from more of everybody talking over each other to when Andy at least is in conversation, people listen.
Yes, you can't piss off Andy.
He is the...
Does Andy ever get pissed off? Have we ever seen it?
Yeah, yeah.
I think he's a very short fuse.
He has his favorites.
It's like almost scared.
I'd be very scared to piss him off because it's very obvious when he dislikes you.
or just like something that you said.
So yeah.
Interesting.
So he's got like this little sass.
So much sass.
Like scary sass.
Really?
I've never seen that yet.
I know.
Am I completely out of it?
It's like I think sometimes it happens when I'm watch what happens after the show.
Okay.
When he's interviewing certain people and doesn't like their answers and stuff.
It's like kind of like you have to know his personality a little bit to like notice.
Like it's not so obvious for the outsider person to understand.
like you can see it when he's mad.
Does he like Ashley?
I think he likes Ashley.
Yeah.
And then obviously if we think about this in detail,
there are,
we've mentioned this and now I'm making sense of it.
There are our housewives who have been on the franchise
who have left or spoken ill about the franchise
and are never brought up again.
Yeah.
Yeah.
If he doesn't like you, you're done.
You're done.
Done out of you.

this is going to change things.
Basketball was going to have this fundamental impact
on the way people viewed women athletes.

He acted friendly.
He talked friendly.
He sounded friendly.
They all knew that I did the scary boogie stuff,
and I said, maybe she'll find out where this girl is.
I saw him violent.
Backhanded a bow!
And that's exactly what made us all think he had something to do with him.
The clock is ticking down, and the woods are calling.
There are a lot of demons.

You broke me.
You do not desert of happiness.
I'm Andrea Gunning.
On this season of betrayal, we meet Carl Bryant.
Carl thought he was living a normal drama-free life until the messages started.
You will have hell to pay.
For nine months, someone infiltrated every aspect of Carl's life, threatening to ruin him.
Cyberstalking, swatting, extortion, impersonation.
And then the text threats escalated.
Someone's not going to make it out of this alive.
This department.
It's playing out in real life, not just on the phone.
Every piece of evidence pointed to one man.
But every piece of evidence was a lie.
He was not going to stop unless we stopped him.

A couple other questions I need to ask my expert, Lauren, here.
Yeah.
We get a few flashbacks this episodes of past scenes.
One of them is, including Luann and Durinda.
Mm-hmm.
And the whole thing is this like insider joke of feeling Giovanni.
And I don't get it.
Like I was lost the whole time.
Okay.
So it was intentional that Durinda and Luan wore the same dress from Giovanni.
because when Luann was doing her cabaret shows,
she got all Giovanni dresses,
but only got Giovanni dresses
because Dorinda introduced her to Giovanni.
So she was drunk in the audience.
Dorinda was screaming,
that's Giovanni, that's Giovanni,
taking like full credit for Luan's like outfits.
Also, fun fact, my made of honor dress at Ash's wedding was Giovanni.
Really? So it's a good designer.
Yes.
It's kind of funny because it's not like,
the most expensive thing of all time.
Like if you have like a big wedding or something,
Giovanni would be acceptable.
So I actually clocked that Luann was carrying a Giovanni dress, a bag,
getting onto the sprinter van.
I was like, oh, Giovanni, it's so funny.
Like I actually have a Giovanni dress.
So I felt like in the club.
And then this whole thing happened.
So let me, side note.
Lauren, because you have a Giovanni dress and you wore it for your sister's wedding,
would you ever wear it again for a different event?
No, but I would keep it.
Yeah, I mean.
That's why our closet in my house is stocked full of clothes because that's the mindset.
It's sentimental.
So you need to have like a vaxial storage bin of dresses that you want like passed down to your kids, you know?
Because like I'm just keeping, I have a son.
What am I doing?
I don't know.
but like I want someone else to wear it and be like,
oh, if you wear that, you know, to a big event.
So, but I would never wear it again.
Okay.
So that helps me make sense of the Giovanni moment.
I did mention Andy Cohen does show up to Bluestone Manor.
Everybody in the room seems to be very excited to see him.
He gives a very special toast in celebration of the women who have done this franchise.
And I don't think it's lost on any viewer or us,
especially that filming the Housewives is a very difficult process.
You are opening your life up to criticism and praise and exposure that most of the world
never has to open up to.
But they've done it and they've done it successfully for 20 seasons.
And we obviously started this show in support of their newest season,
which is, or their newest show, which is the Road to Highland, housewives.
But we now know a housewife.
There's only 200 of them, Andy says, in the world.
But there's many housewives that are existing out there amongst us.
Yes, so true.
It's so true.
He welcomes Ashley and Rosie into the club, or I guess he welcomes all the new cast.
And it's just like, what else can you say other than like, wow, this is so crazy?
So crazy.
Thank you so much.
So crazy.
Like there's no words to Andy Cohen being like welcome to the club.
It is just so crazy.
As we close up this breakdown of this episode specifically,
what else stood out to you during this episode that I think we should touch on?
Let me think about it.
We did see Heather and Lisa.
Oh, yes, this is what I wanted to bring up.
Heather and Lisa talking
talking to Andy or Andy was
actually just standing in between them while they were talking
essentially and Heather
called Lisa like
I can't remember the word she said
like phony or something
or and then she and then Lisa goes
I had Charlie XX in my dressing room
you think I'm phony
it's like I pause it
and I go
in what world does one have to do the other?
Like at her lounge, she had her at her lounge.
So she just needed a, she was like, how can I fit in that I know Charlie XX or I was in the same room as this girl?
And she took the opportunity then and no one even addressed it.
I thought that would be a great opportunity for someone to make fun of her and no one made fun of her.
That was big.
And then also another thing is I saw the Wendy's thing.
and now I know Lisa does a lot of ads for Wendy's.
But Wendy's, she didn't interview.
They're like, how many times do you actually eat Wendy's?
And she goes three times a day.
Three times a day, she's at Wendy's, three separate times.
And they're like, okay, well, what do you get?
What do you get?
What do you get?
I'm like, you're a liar.
Lisa, you're a liar.
And now I'm certain of it.
No one's going to Wendy's three times a day.
Nobody's going to Wendy's three times a day and looking like you do.
Yes.
yes like okay sure maybe you go three times he gave a day for a diet coke that's not it yeah you're
not for a diet coke great but you're not eating the spicy chicken with a side of fries and dipping it in
that frosty like i know no that's what i like great order great order thank you thank you very
what about you what anything else i just think it was a good celebration the fireworks were a great
touch i'm with you where i would have loved to see the cast that we followed this whole season maybe
in one last scene talking and amongst each other as they send each other back off to their
respective homes. But we didn't get to see that. But I do think this, what this whole thing in closing,
Lauren did for me. It made me believe that the housewives are in a really good spot. Not only with the
send off to the start of a new season of the Real Housewives of New York, but also we have Rhode Island.
And then I got to meet my favorite Chanel, who's doing Dubai that we now need to do that we now need to
tune into. It just, I'm not that curious about Utah because it just feels like it's too much drama
for me. Oh, Dubai is over. I'll go back. Yeah, but you can still go back. I'll go back. I'll go back.
Chanel back there. Yeah. Isn't that what we all do? We just go back and watch past seasons.
Yeah. That's it. Yeah, that's exactly what. Yeah, no Utah for me either. For some reason,
I have no desire to watch Utah. I'm sorry. It just seems too convoluted at this point. I don't have the
energy. Yeah. It's not really my thing. I don't really want to watch people.
yelling at each other and the whole time.
I mean,
Housewives,
or Rhode Island's kind of like that.
But then we get to watch Ashley,
who's our little,
you know,
glimmer of hope.
Yeah, glimmer of hope.
So yeah,
it just seems like the Housewives
is an really good spot.
And it's cool to see 20 years celebrated.
Selfishly,
I would love to see The Bachelor
do something like this.
You know?
Yeah.
It's been a long time
since I've felt connected
and I'm sure there's reasons.
Well, you have a cruise coming up.
Yeah, let's celebrate there.
Let's just do that.
We'll make it nice, right?
Making it nice.
I love their ending celebration.
I'm like, who uses their own quote
as like the final cheers, but make it nice?
Make it nice, and we'll make it nice here.
Hey, if you've loved listening to the ultimate girls trip
with Lauren and I, thank you.
for listening. But it doesn't mean that Lauren is going anywhere. We know the almost famous family

This doesn't mean Lauren's going anywhere. It doesn't mean that I'm going anywhere. So make sure
you continue to tune in to everything the Almost Famous podcast is putting out there for your

I would have never thought that.
No, come on, our sweet Bob.
I know.
All right, well, I'll watch along with you.
Thanks, Lauren.
Appreciate it.
Hey, you're great.
We'll be back on here.
Hopefully breaking down season two of the Real Housewives of Rhode Island,
if it ever gets confirmed.
Has it been confirmed yet?
Yeah, it's definitely confirmed.
You don't know who's on it, but we'll be talking about it.
Right.
Filming's confirmed.
Cool stuff's happening.
Some drama's already gone down.
So excited to watch it whenever that does come out.
Awesome.
Hey, until next time, I've been Ben.
