Starting point is 00:01:37 What would you do if one bad decision forced you to choose between a maximum security prison or the most brutal boot camp designed to be hell on earth? Unfortunately for Mark Lombardo, this was the choice he faced. He said, you are a number, a New York State number, and we own you. Starting point is 00:02:43 Happy finale week of The Golden Bachelorette. We are here today to break down the finale of Joan's amazing season of the Golden Bachelorette. Joan thrives. Joan looks beautiful. But the big question going into this episode was, did Joan find? love. Ashley, good morning. Good morning. It's a little early for us, but I'm fine. Guess what? This was, this is my announcement, guys,
Starting point is 00:03:11 the least dramatic finale of all time. Would you agree? Oh, 100%. There's like no stakes. There's nothing. This could have been a 10-minute episode and it would have been beautiful. I don't want to take anything away from what I think will be a very healthy, exciting loving couple and we're very excited for them here
Starting point is 00:03:32 but it could have been a 10 minute episode yeah and actually it kind of felt like a 10 minute episode because when I recapped it in my brain
Starting point is 00:03:40 I was just like dump sky gets engaged the edge I wonder actually if we take away the live TV portion if how much we saw them together
Starting point is 00:03:51 was actually maybe like 20 minutes they could have extended like the meet and greet with the family or the date that they had something.
Starting point is 00:04:03 Well, that's where I want to start breaking down this episode. Obviously, Joan's family flies in to experience this week with Joan. They're going to meet the two guys remaining. This is a really fun time, I think, for the family. Because they've gotten to watch Joan, or not got to watch,
Starting point is 00:04:20 they've gotten to sit at home and wait for Joan for the last few months. And now they actually get to kind of dive into the process. catch up with her make sure she's healthy and happy and then meet the guys that she's falling in love with and then also have a lot of fun while you're doing it it's like a big family vacation in a lot of ways i know i know i was just thinking about their flight though i don't know why i get so stressed for other people flying i'm just like oh no borah borah is beautiful but isn't it worth like a 16 hour flight have you been to borah borah borah no have you no no no no
Starting point is 00:04:58 never it's actually number one on my vacation list like i'd like to go to paris and england and like well to the netherlands with my family because my mom's such but like as far as a vacation lie outside every day i wanted to go bore bore number one i mean it looks i mean so last night jessica and i watched this together she was uh was actually our anniversary so this is what we did on our Oh my gosh, the fastest three years of our lives. I know. Isn't that crazy? Oh, grab. Happy anniversary. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:05:33 Wow. Thank you. I've been gone all week. I got home last night. She got home really late from work. We're going to celebrate her anniversary at some date to be determined. And we will. I'll make sure of it. And she'll make sure of it. But last night, we're like, you know what? We're both tired. We've been gone. Let's just turn on the show and watch it because I've got to do the show tomorrow. until we watch us in one of the first takeaways. I always like hearing Jessica's opinion because she doesn't really watch a show and so it's always a new and fresh opinion
Starting point is 00:06:02 was, can you believe how... It's like our third silent host. Yeah, she is. I mean, she gives us great input. She said, can you believe how beautiful that water is? It was a gorgeous place. That's what I was thinking. And then her second question to me, Ashley,
Starting point is 00:06:17 which comes up at this point is, why is Joan on a boat? They just had her go on a boat as if it was the mode of transportation to go to her. No, she was living on a boat. Oh, yeah. They were like on a cruise.
Starting point is 00:06:29 Yeah. Yeah, the last week they kind of they lightly established that. It was like why? I like it because I'm a cruiser. I mean, Guy's home was gorgeous and looked like paradise.
Starting point is 00:06:44 Joan, Joan, it looked nice. I'm not going to say, I mean, oh, Guy was living in an other location? Yeah. I thought they were all on the boat. No, she, he was, he was,
Starting point is 00:06:53 inland okay now that's a little strange but it was we know it was an ad well we don't remember was it wind it was it windmere cruises yeah i mean i think it was beautiful it works uh i would love to go on a cruise love cruises it just was a little awkward that she had a cruise boat parked there and it never moved and she we just see all these scenes of her on this cruise boat hey not the biggest part of the story um meeting the family for the first time, Ashley. So that's how we kind of kick off this episode. The, I think the theme that we could say was going on throughout this meeting was that
Starting point is 00:07:36 Joan is still, I think she wants her kids approval on her moving forward with somebody. Because I think at this point, we probably know she wants to move forward with somebody. And she has yet to get their approval on moving forward past her, you know, late husband, John. Well, she's like, yes, this is the first time she's introducing somebody. So, like, obviously that those feelings are going to come up. But they did approve her, quote, quote, for being the Golden Bachelorette. So, you know, they're down for her moving on. I think there was, my biggest question was how is Chalk going to handle it?
Starting point is 00:08:11 You know, he's been very intentional with Joan since the beginning. I mean, we kind of saw it during this recap with, I'm crazy about you. It was like a lot. Oh my God, it was so funny. He was very into her. So I personally was not concerned or wondering, I guess would be the better way to say that. For him, if he would be a little too pushy or kind of come on too strong to the kids. Like, be like, hey, call me daddy kind of thing.
Starting point is 00:08:46 He didn't. He did great. Why, I find that to be so funny. At that point, I figure. At that point, I was 100% sure he was the one being chosen because he did so well walking through that and saying, I don't want to replace your dad. You know, it's going to be big shoes to fill kind of stuff.
Starting point is 00:09:05 But he was very conscious about, hey, we got to celebrate the two people that came, you know, into our lives earlier. And then also just have a lot of fun in the future. He said the right things that he's never said all season. That's how I'll close this up. is he said the right things that he's never said all season
Starting point is 00:09:21 like what I really want with Joan is to have adventure and have fun and to like celebrate the rest of my life with her. It felt like all of a sudden he became the Pascal and he became the Jonathan he became himself
Starting point is 00:09:38 like he had a little worse like that's good. Yeah. Yeah. What did you think about the son? He was very he like had the look of judgment which was hilarious. But then like
Starting point is 00:09:49 turns out that he liked he really liked him he just seems to be taking over as the protective figure in the family yeah sure what i think i think at first i thought oh this is going to be bad like this kid this poor son is going to be protective is going to come off really weird and he's going to be weirded out by it um he loosened up over time he did i think what i got from him just watching him is he really just doesn't want to be there he was like i this is stupid i just got off a 16 hour flight and you're now telling me my mom's going to send the other guy home tomorrow and I have to leave in two days. Like this is stupid. I am so mad that I came. Again, I was just thinking like, I really hope they let them vacation a little bit while there after a rapid flight. I think
Starting point is 00:10:31 there's a lot going on in his head behind the scenes and he was like, I'm happy for you mom. Like, this is great. This guy seems good. He's, he's fine. You just made me fly 16 hours for two days. Like, I want to, I want to yell at you on national television, but I can. it's always. Hey, Ben, the one thing we didn't talk about that happened earlier in this episode that I must talk to you about is that they like started her up with the whole maybe I'm unlovable storyline. And since you are the owner of that storyline, why did they do this? This was never something that she felt. It's ridiculous.
Starting point is 00:11:06 You've been married for so, you were married for so long. You have children. You're very much lovable, just as you are very much lovable. But she said that when Pascal said he didn't love me. it hurt her and then she thought that. You think it was made up, don't you? They were like, oh, let's like throw a bad storyline in here. Really quick for a little drama because it's the least dramatic episode ever.
Starting point is 00:11:26 Can I say this, Ashley? I need to get residuals. I need to get paid. Sweet and me, I love you to two people and this. Yeah, because then we see Grant season preview and he's standing there like, I don't know who to choose. And Jesse's like, we have them waiting. You know, let us know who we need to send first.
Starting point is 00:11:46 So he's obviously in love with two people. Every single lead since season 20 has been in love with two people. And now last night I looked at when Joan said, I said, no, I said, Jess, that's my thing. I, I, um, yeah, I don't know. And for me, it's been such a, like, pivotal moment, like, for me personally changed everything. You wrote a book about it, basically. I wrote a whole book about it. It enhanced the way, um, I saw myself.
Starting point is 00:12:16 I saw the world night. And so my first thought is if that is true for Joan, then I am glad that she is able to admit it openly. If that is not true and the show pride to get something out of her to make this episode a little more dramatic, a little more emotional, a little more confusing, that's sad. It diminishes the story. Yeah. Well, I think it was probably one of those moments where she's in the interview room.
Starting point is 00:12:48 And she's crying. She's obviously very upset that Pascal left, who I believe was number two in her heart. And then somebody was probably like, how did that make you feel? Like, did it make you feel like maybe you're unlovable? And then she says, it kind of did. And they said, so do you feel unlovable? And she was, I feel unlovable. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:08 And then all of a sudden, she's just saying this to Nancy. And she's probably taking a step back a couple of days later. like, why the hell did I say that? Yeah, that doesn't make any sense. Yeah, I don't know. I mean, goodness, I said that, which was a very, like, real true moment, unexpected, not even coerced. And then I, you know, obviously I have the two I love yous, at some point residuals would be appreciated. I mean, you know, I got a family to raise.
Starting point is 00:13:40 This is a father talking about now. I'm a future father. I'm a future father. so that was a big deal and it was great to see nancy come though i do think nancy was probably a just love her yeah she's such a great just a great human carrying you know she's a great listener again though let's give nancy credit on a 16 hour flight for probably i bet this show gave her a day like they probably flew her in and flew her out well no because she was in last week's episode i don't know if you saw it um because just
Starting point is 00:14:14 Jared was here. But she had two episodes. Okay. So, fief. So at least she was there for three days. Yeah, you're right. That's true. It's still, it's rushed. But Nancy's amazing. And she is I mean, the perfect person for Joan to confide in. Actually, I didn't get this sense through this whole entire episode that Joan was ever going to leave this thing single. I know that was something they were kind of pushing. You're right. I know. And I think that's why. the drama this episode never felt strong. It was
Starting point is 00:14:51 never dramatic because even though they tried really hard to kind of do what they do every finale, which was like, is anybody going to get chosen? Is the league going to get chosen? Is somebody going to go home early? That kind of stuff that you always have going on in your head. They tried. It just didn't
Starting point is 00:15:07 work. I think the whole time we knew that she was going to be leaving with somebody and it felt very much. for the last goodness month and a half that it was going to be chock i know ever since he left to go to his mom's you know to figure out his mom's arrangements um yeah we pretty much knew it was chock and also the fact that like not only was he so obviously the one that she was into the person that she was like into second was just so far apart in feeling
Starting point is 00:15:44 and and I think that person actually was like I said earlier Pascal and I think because Pascal left she was off a guy who was technically her third choice so then it was like a no-brainer and they couldn't even fake the drama yeah and I mean it's sad to watch I think it's really hard to watch the golden bachelor bachelor at show because the emotions seem so raw and they also seem in a sense, foreign to a lot of these people, especially the men. It doesn't feel like Guy cries often like he did there. It felt like it came from a very hurt place. And so that was difficult to watch.
Starting point is 00:16:29 Ashley, I do have a question for you, though. We obviously see the breakup with Guy. The crowd is shocked. People are surprised. I don't think anybody is surprised that Guy is the one that's going home. I think they're surprised that guys and how a guy went home. Then they have the live show with Guy on it. And they still yet, they refuse to ask him the questions that all of the public now knows.
Starting point is 00:16:57 This is not a secret. This is not like Reddit sleuthing. I feel like this is still kind of like one of those things where it's like if you just watch the show and you watch it on TV and you don't do any sort of your Instagram feed isn't about it, then maybe you don't know that he had a restraining order against him from his ex-wife. It's so weird, though, to see them, like, up there and, like, not worshiping. What's the other? Like, idolized, it's kind of like idolizing him, just making him seem like the perfect guy to date.
Starting point is 00:17:30 And you're just like, in the back of my head, I'm just like, how are they pretending? Like, he's the perfect guy to date when his ex-wife got a restraining order on him. Yeah, I don't know. I don't even have a theory for it. I thought they would at least ask him. I thought they would at least bring it up and say, hey, obviously, you've been in the news. Do you want to tell us more about this situation?
Starting point is 00:17:52 Because as right now, the show seems to be taking this strategy of like, don't ask, don't tell. They didn't say anything about Devin. They didn't say anything about Guy. They did kind of come out, I think, on a short little, you know, statement on social media and say, for Gil. yeah but they didn't really ever then confront it and he still was on our you know show a lot so i don't know what's going on i don't know what's happening it's weird also like you and i very
Starting point is 00:18:20 much like we'll forgive right it's like not a big deal i'm not gonna cancel you guy but i but because he's not an address it lingers in my head if i heard the story from him i'd probably be more forgiving because his family seems to have been very forgiving but like i i may be jumping the gun here but you know just tell me the story a little bit i don't need as a outside stranger the juicy details what i do want to know uh is if you were the one chosen by joan like tell me how this went down and if you've yeah why your family's forgiven you maybe um or maybe even more important than that i want the show to tell us how in the world these guys keep getting on the show also joan obviously knows and she still thinks of
Starting point is 00:19:07 him very highly. So I'm assuming that she knows the story. Yeah. I'm assuming she does now too. Anyways, that was just weird. It was kind of the hot seat moment that never became hot. The two of them seem cordial. He still seems very much into Joan.
Starting point is 00:19:23 And I think he really was into Joan throughout the season. I think he was a late burn. I think it happened like the last week. All of a sudden he goes, oh my gosh, there's two of us left. Do I really like this woman? And he goes, I actually do. I love her. But Joan was a there yet. At that point, I think Chalk had been her number one for way long, for a long time.
Starting point is 00:19:44 And so, it was a nice excuse. You know what? It was a sweet moment for her to walk and I think do it in the way she did. I think this was a good thing for her to do. I will say this, Ashley. For as little of, you know, the finale as we actually got to saw, see, because of that breakup, um, Joan Joan's going to be really hard to replace as a golden bachelorette. She's going to be really hard for them to find anybody that navigates a process like she did. Now, I think they'll find one, somebody that's maybe more emotional. They might find somebody who is a little more dramatic. Maybe they'll find somebody that has that really big personality, kind of the Caitlin Bristos and the Jojo Fletchers of the world, that really bring the life the whole show. but Joan as your spokesperson as your first is insane and the elegance and the beauty Jessica last night again back to our third silent host for this episode
Starting point is 00:20:48 Joan's sitting on stage at one point and Jessica goes she like laughs she goes can you imagine if that's your grandma like how messed up is that like she's hot she looks great she does just carry herself so beautifully. She will be hard to compete with. My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly, and now I'm seriously suspicious. Well, wait a minute, Sam. Maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit. Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon. This person writes, my boyfriend has been hanging out with his young professor a lot.
Starting point is 00:21:29 He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her. Now, he's insisting we get to know each other, but I just want her gone. Now, hold up. Isn't that against school policy? That sounds totally inappropriate. Well, according to this person, this is her boyfriend's former professor and they're the same age. And it's even more likely that they're cheating. He insists there's nothing between them. I mean, do you believe him?
Starting point is 00:21:48 Well, he's certainly trying to get this person to believe him because he now wants them both to meet. So, do we find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated with his professor or not? To hear the explosive finale, listen to the OK Storytime podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hi, my name is Enya Umanzor. And I'm Drew Phillips. Open your free IHeart Radio app. Search Emergency Intercom and listen now. Imagine that you're on an airplane and all of a sudden you hear this. Attention passengers, the pilot is having an emergency and we need someone, anyone to land this plane.
Starting point is 00:22:45 Think you could do it? It turns out that nearly 50% of men think that they could land the plane with the help of air traffic control. And they're saying like, okay, pull this, do this, pull that, turn this. It's just, I can do it my eyes close. I'm Manny. I'm Noah. This is Devon. And on our new show, no such.
Starting point is 00:23:03 thing, we get to the bottom of questions like these. Join us as we talk to the leading expert on overconfidence. Those who lack expertise lack the expertise they need to recognize that they lack expertise. And then as we try the whole thing out for real. Wait, what? Oh, that's the run right. I'm looking at this thing. Listen to no such thing on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The Super Secret Festi Club, podcast season four is here. Each episode will feature a special bestie, and you're not going to want to miss it. Get in here! Today we have a very special guest with us.

Starting point is 00:24:12 My name is Curley. And I'm Maya. In each episode, we'll talk about love, friendship, heartbrates, men, and, of course, our favorite secrets. Listen to the Super Secret Bestie Club as a part of the Mycultura podcast network available on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. My name is Ed. From a very rural background myself, my dad is a farmer, and my mom is a cousin, so like, it's not, like... What do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club? I know it sounds like the start of a bad joke, but that really was my reality nine years ago.
Starting point is 00:24:49 I just normally do straight stand-up, but this is a bit different. On stage stood a comedian with a story that no one expected to hear. Well, 22nd of July 2015. A 23-year-old man. had killed his family. And then he came to my house. So what do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club? A new podcast called Wisecrack,
Starting point is 00:25:19 where stand-up comedy and murder takes center stage. Available now. Listen to Wisecrack on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. you know what we didn't talk about we didn't talk about how they had been planning to get a new york apartment and chock and her are going to spend a lot of time here and they're going to they're going to decorate it and he like basically gave her like a book of plans for it which is adorable as the gift that you see is typical for this episode it did make me wonder
Starting point is 00:26:01 I wish they told us more about their living situation didn't even ask about that on after the final rose I'm assuming that they're going to live in Maryland which is where she's from and then they'll go up to New York which is like three and a half hours from her it's a good point Ashley I mean that should be the number one question I think
Starting point is 00:26:19 that Jesse brings up during this now because it was such a big deal with Gary and Teresa is what are you guys going to do now what is next for the two of you especially if the show knows they're doing well. Do you think that was an allusion to them? No, I don't. I think it was a miss.
Starting point is 00:26:37 I think what I'm saying is I think it should have been asked. So we could all get excited for them. Because as Teresa and we, you know, addressed a couple weeks ago, you know, location was the reason for their breakup publicly, even though she told us there was more. So wouldn't it be interesting, know what is next for you guys. We didn't really get that question more than how exciting is it now and that you're going to Disney World and the college football playoffs are going to be
Starting point is 00:27:07 happening on ABC, on ESPN. I have a buddy from my golf course that I golf with and he watches the show so consistently with his wife. And last night I was coming back late from a retreat and I hadn't been able to watch it yet, but he texts me and he says, my goodness, Jesse just randomly drops at the college football playoffs. They're going to be happening on ESPN and that he gets to announce a game. And then he said, should have been you. As the host of the show. Yeah, and then I got to be the college football. At least invite me. I don't know. Anyways, I'm feeling I'm feeling. Ben is having a, I feel left out. I have done a lot for you moments. I always wake up a little slow and just wake up kind of in this place of I think somebody was me but the uh what a random
Starting point is 00:28:01 drop we were laying there watching it ourselves and we just both went huh it's very weird because it's not like the same demographic necessarily no and then the national championship trophies just sitting next to jesse which means while joan and chalk are both like pouring their heart out about their relationship some little producer walks up with the trophy and sits it right next to jesse so those two see it and are like looking at that thing while they're like, yeah, it's been an amazing ride. We've had such a good time together. When they did the Mormon Wives show, when they plugged that, was that during Jen's or this
Starting point is 00:28:35 previous season, one of those finalies. And that made sense because like people who watch dramatic women like to watch dramatic women. So that's all in the same boat. This was like just very off. But whatever. I remember, okay, I had one more thought that I wanted to say. about guy and I'm sorry ABC but about the restraining order
Starting point is 00:28:56 see because you didn't bring it up I actually worried that he's crazier than he actually might be well as I'm saying it would have done everybody better for him to talk about it yes see because what do we see him crying and he's very emotional
Starting point is 00:29:14 and he's saying a couple little things I'm interpreting as this guy's going to blow up he's going to show his true colors you know he's crazy man he's not as even keeled as he comes across on TV I know better whereas like if he just talked about it then I would
Starting point is 00:29:31 have been like I don't know maybe interpreted those scenes differently but I couldn't the crying made me not the crying made me nervous but just like him getting broken up with I was like oh is he going to freak out is he going to freak out I only gear alone in that kind of moment
Starting point is 00:29:47 going what's is he going to get up and storm out it ended up being a very it ended up being a very chris stramberg type scene where he's standing on the pier laying his tears out into the ocean weeping it was the most him so if you guys missed a couple episodes ago ben said that guy reminds him of chris cupcake from his season and the comparison couldn't be more accurate and they're both doctors just to be clear this is before i knew about any legal trouble that guy was
Starting point is 00:30:23 Yeah, just to be clear, I don't 100% Yeah, Chris is a good Yeah, I love Chris. Oh, but I love him so much. He's the best. Just saying without, you know, from the surface, from the show, they're very similar people and huge muscles.
Starting point is 00:30:40 I just also didn't throw in there. It had me wondering if guy got broken up off camera, would it look like this? You know what I mean? Yeah. Yeah. I don't think you're right. wrong. And I don't think that's like a, I don't think you're jumping to this like a place of just
Starting point is 00:30:56 being a crazy fan. I think it was probably in a lot of people's minds. Ashley, a couple last thoughts on this episode. The family is going to Disney World. What an incredible gift for them to have all their families going out. That sounded fun to me. I wanted to see the reaction from the kids when they said it though. And we didn't get to see that. We were like a little woo. Yeah. I mean, if I was a little kid and my grandma is on stage dating this dude and I'm in the audience and everybody's celebrating her
Starting point is 00:31:28 and then they tell me because your grandma went on a dating show you young man get to go to Disney World I would have flipped out like I am running around that stage maybe he didn't get to hear it because it's kind of hard to hear things
Starting point is 00:31:44 in there and he's like four and then there's like the one and a half year old and then I know there's other grandchildren but those would be ones in the audience. I chocked and seemed super thrilled about going to Disney. He was like, Jesus, he's like, damn, I'm like, I just, I just ended up with this lady. Can we have a romantic vacation? Yeah, and he's probably in the back of his mind, like, I can't get out of work.
Starting point is 00:32:07 I've already taken four months off of work this year. I cannot leave again. I have to get back to my normal life. I remember that being a stressor for me because I was still working a full-time job post-show. show. And so the show would call and be like, can you be in L.A.? Can you be here? And I can't, guys. I have a job. You, you know, if you want to pay me more, sure. Love to. It is hard. I think probably in the back of his mind right now, chalk is trying to figure out how to get back to his life with Joan and how to kind of settle into a rhythm. While now it's kind of just starting for chalk. He
Starting point is 00:32:46 hasn't had the opportunities that Jones had. He hasn't gotten into the travel mode. He maybe we'll be able to retire a little early here because he'll get a nice couple like chunks of money. But for now, I think it probably would be hard for him to figure out how to leave this job. All right. Ashley, in closing here, we'll talk about grant season preview. Just like the show did. I, if there is not a better representation for how quickly the show moves on to the next lead, this episode showed us perfectly. Because, yes, it's awesome that Grant was there. I think his season's going to be great. I think he's going to be great. I'm excited to watch it. That's not the point. The point is we have this happy couple on this stage. And then they do the preview. And then their exit. Like when we all say goodbye to Joan and Chalk after watching them for the last few months, Grant's standing right there beside him. He is, he's there and they have moved on. That show will say Joan and Chalk, great job. Good luck. Have a lot of fun out there. And Grant, come on in, buddy.
Starting point is 00:33:53 And they'll do the same thing to Grant when his season's over. It happens every time. This is why they need that soft rock song and the montage of their love to end the episode that they used to do. Why don't they do that anymore? They don't know. They tried to do it with the pictures, but we as fans didn't get to see them because the camera's never zoomed in for us. So there's pictures that were shown on the big screen of the two of them during happy couples. I didn't get to see it because the camera.
Starting point is 00:34:20 camera is so far away. I really want to know how the happy couples are when you're younger versus when you're older because like you guys like never really have a great time in there because you're like bored and want to get it out and they just seem to love their five. Yeah. Do crosswords. Yeah. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:34:39 I mean, I'm guessing it's I'm guessing it's a little awkward too for them because you, it doesn't happen right away. You don't get your first for a few weeks into the season. everyone right yeah it's a little weird you're like reintroducing yourself and i think it was so great of chalk to be like it was great to get to know her during this time which is my advice for any lead that comes on to the show is hey if you feel like you don't know this person like you don't have to you know i've talked about this you don't have to propose like that's not like a thing that you are committing to do but also you'll get to know them later like really well and i think that's
Starting point is 00:35:18 something that probably for Chalk and Joan is important for them to realize is they came off the show they were probably excited. There was that euphoria. There was that feeling. There was the interest. And then during happy couples, I think you really get to know the person better and fall in love or not. But for the two of them at this point, from what we saw during this episode, I think the two of them will make it. I hope they make it. I hope we see a huge success story from this season because Joan deserves it. I think Chalk deserves it. And I think the fans want to see it from the Golden Show to see that this could work. For sure. My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly and now I'm seriously suspicious.
Starting point is 00:36:02 Well, wait a minute, Sam. Maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit. Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast. So we'll find out soon. This person writes, my boyfriend has been hanging out with his young professor a lot. He doesn't think is a problem, but I don't trust her. Now he's insisting we get to know each other, but I just want her gone. Now hold up, isn't that against school policy? That sounds totally inappropriate. Well, according to this person,
Starting point is 00:36:24 this is her boyfriend's former professor and they're the same age. It's even more likely that they're cheating. He insists there's nothing between them. I mean, do you believe him? Well, he's certainly trying to get this person to believe him because he now wants them both to meet. So, do we find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated
Starting point is 00:36:40 with his professor or not? To hear the explosive finale, listen to the OK Storytime on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Starting point is 00:37:30 Think you could do it? It turns out that nearly 50% of men think that they could land the plane with the help of air traffic control. And they're saying, like, okay, pull this, do this, pull that, turn this. It's just, I can do my eyes close. I'm Mani. I'm Noah. This is Devin. Be a part of my new chapter and listen to the new season of the Overcumper podcast as part of the My Cultura podcast network on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Should we talk about Grant? Yeah, let's talk about the preview. Okay. He was definitely a little nervous when Jesse threw to him in the audience.
Starting point is 00:40:26 He was just like, inspiring, inspiring. But he's very handsome. So it doesn't really matter. That is a nice face to look at for the next, you know, however many weeks we get to do it. It doesn't really matter what he says. He's so handsome. It doesn't really matter. He's very stunning.
Starting point is 00:40:44 His girls look like they're going to be dramatic. But yeah, I guess the real kicker is what you've already mentioned. He seems to get to finale day without knowing who he's going to be. Yeah. That's hard because he's like, hey, both girls are standing there. We're at this moment. We're already at this moment. We're not in the hotel anymore.
Starting point is 00:41:07 We're at the moment. And you don't know yet. That's good stuff. for us if I was there with him and I hope somebody did I think at that point if you are so conflicted
Starting point is 00:41:17 honestly conflicted on that day you can't pick you have to say hi I'd like to date both the person in the very life yeah one maybe like really do a heart dive here and say to the person that you're most into that you see a future with
Starting point is 00:41:34 hey this has been wild I haven't been able to have a clear thought in the last couple months, can you and I just leave here and try this thing together? And I think that's a fine way to end this. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:47 You can't get engaged to somebody when two minutes before you're like, I may want to pick the other one. Yes. Like, hey, I don't know who I want to fall in love with, actually. I love them both. Hey, I've been there,
Starting point is 00:41:59 but I think there was always this, what, who do I see a future with? And I think Grant has to get to that point. His season does seem dramatic. but every season is right that was yeah we never know from these previews exactly how the season's going to play out and how these connections are going to go and how deep we're going to get to the cast and get to know grant but it will be an exciting season to watch i'm glad uh that it will you know that grant is the lead but here's the thing that we need we need to know him better
Starting point is 00:42:34 we don't know grant yet and i'm sorry guys that i'm like making it seem like he's a piece of me but he's very handsome want to see his face it's because I don't know anything I don't know anything beyond that for him so now I know that he likes to play piano that music is really important in expressing his feelings and that's really cute
Starting point is 00:42:53 he writes a song for one of the girls ooh sloony yeah it's a good start I think you're probably you know as much about grand as any of us do we know what he looks like and that's that's something that is valuable in a relationship.
Starting point is 00:43:11 So his season will be coming up next until Grant's season, now that Joan's season of the Golden Bachelor is done. And let's do something for Joan here that I didn't feel like we got last night. Joan, again, was elegant. She was patient. She put her heart into this. She was enjoyable to watch. She was easy to root for.
Starting point is 00:43:34 She is beautiful on the inside now. she is an incredible first lead of the golden bachelorette and chock chock has been intentional he's pursued her even through some huge life tragedy he came back for her i think at least from what we've seen chalk loves her deeply and is so grateful for the opportunity to have met her through this experience and we want to wish the two of them them not only the best, but say thank you for letting us watch you and letting us in in your experience and your relationship. And we hope for you peace, enjoy and love all the years to follow. And we hope you have so much adventure and fun. And please keep us updated as fans because we're
Starting point is 00:44:24 fans of you. Yes. I really want to know about their life now. Like I know I already followed Joan, but like, oh some stuff. I want to see what the holidays look like together. And all that. You guys are very cute. We are so happy. And just to reiterate what Benna said, it's just like she was a beautiful lead inside and out. It was an incredible season.
Starting point is 00:44:50 We hope all the fans enjoyed it. And we hope all the fans maybe did get in Grant's word inspired by their love story. And we hope anybody out there listening who is single in their 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s knows that love can be found. again. So we take a little break for our off season where we'll catch up with headlines and questions from our audience and also some incredible interviews with some of your favorites from Bachelor Nation. We look forward to this time because it's kind of a reset for us before we enter back into breaking down episodes. So write us your questions. Send us any thoughts you have. We love to talk to you through our microphones. But until next time, I've been bent.

He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her.
Starting point is 00:46:06 Now he's insisting we get to know each other, but I just want or gone. Hold up. Isn't that against school policy? That seems inappropriate. Maybe find out how it ends by listening to the OK Storytime podcast and the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hi, my name is Enya Umanzor. And I'm Drew Phillips.
