This is the Ben and Ashley I, almost famous podcast with IHeart Radio.
It's the almost famous podcast.
I'm here today with my good friend Trista.
Hello, Trista.
Hey, Ben.
We are here in San Francisco.
We spent yesterday at Radio Row, the Super Bowl.
Today we are sitting in the podcast studios, newly built.
Very beautiful in San Francisco.
But there's been a lot happening in Bachelor Nation recently,
and we've got a lot of news to bring your way.
Trista is here with us today to be our resident expert,
break down everything happening.
We're going to start with a big one.
A big one that was actually a lot of people were talking about it last night.
A lot of people were talking about a lot of opinions.
I have my own.
I know, Trista, you have your own.
But the overall, I think, feeling is excitement and curiosity.
Chris Harrison to host traditional marriage dating show
nearly five years after Bachelor exit.
Trista, tell us about it.
We'll talk about it.
Yes. I mean, honestly, I feel like nobody I saw yesterday was, everyone was talking about it.
And I think because it's a bit controversial.
And I think the only reason that it's controversial, I mean, clearly Chris knows dating shows.
Yeah, he's pretty good at it.
But because of what the tagline or the caption about the announcement was.
And it basically said, not basically, this is what it said.
A prominent streaming service is casting single men and women 21, 21 plus,
who want a traditional marriage-minded partnership built on commitment and shared values.
We're looking for singles who believe in clear,
roles, and I think that was part of the controversy, long-term commitment in building a life together,
and who are dating with real intention. Now, I don't see the controversy in most of that.
99% of that statement I don't see. But the clear roles part, someone commented, what the heck
does that mean? I feel like what people are wondering is if it is promoting women staying at home and
cooking dinner and, you know, like that kind of like clear role or is it just saying, in my mind,
saying it could be clear roles like, you know, I'm going to be a firefighter, Ryan, I'm going to
be a stay at home work and work mom, I'm going to make the dinners, Ryan. I'm going to take the
kids to school. Like, are those the clear rules or are they, are we going back to the 50s and kind of
that more quote unquote traditional marriage. Well, a couple things here. Yeah. As you said,
Chris Harrison knows dating shows. There was no language used in this announcement. Yeah.
That was not on purpose, right? Right. And if there's controversy, there's conversation. Yep.
And conversation is great for the promotion of a show, right? Yep. Now, here's the other thing. And I think you and I can speak to this because
we know Chris so well.
Yeah.
Look at his own marriage.
Totally.
I said that all night last night.
Yeah.
Look at his own marriage.
Lauren works.
He works.
She runs her race.
He runs his race.
Yep.
I, and I don't know this to be a fact.
But my assumption and what I would stand pretty firm on is when they say clear roles,
it's more in the lines of what you are saying, where, hey, this is a traditional relationship
in the sense that we are looking for a man and a woman today.
They're both going to have their separate interests and hobbies.
Right.
You know, could there maybe have been a little more like clarification to that
and the caption when they announced it?
Sure.
But then we wouldn't be talking about it like this.
Exactly.
A couple other things.
I think a lot of people are going to be so excited to see Chris host a show again
on their television.
Yes.
I think, as you said, 99% of this.
I don't see any problem with, right?
Yeah.
They're obviously casting for something looks like similar to what the Bachelor has
casted for, right?
Yep.
There's a man, there's a woman, they date, you know, a woman is dating a bunch of men,
a man is dating a bunch of women.
Yeah.
I don't know if that's the setup for this show.
It seems more like it's almost like a matchmaking kind of thing
where they're bringing two people together that they seem could work.
But this is big.
we haven't seen Chris Harrison on our televisions since 2021.
It's 2026.
It's five years of a host who America grew up with, loved and recognized.
At one point was probably one of the more famous people in the United States of America.
He has been off our televisions.
And he's coming back.
I don't know who with a prominent streaming service,
but I would have to imagine.
if Chris is going to say yes to doing another show,
he's got to believe this is going to be a hit.
Well, yeah, he wouldn't do it otherwise.
He would not do it otherwise.
He doesn't need to do it otherwise.
No.
I think what we need to do,
because in today's world, right, we can,
I think we're looking for reasons to get upset.
Yeah.
And sometimes they're justified and sometimes they're not.
Yeah.
I think when we look at this,
let's assume that they're not like looking for like a show
that it takes us back to 1950s.
Yeah.
It just doesn't make sense.
It wouldn't, it wouldn't be accurate to his life.
So how can he host a show where like, you cook, you clean,
I'll go to work every day, make sure you make me a drink when I get home?
Like that doesn't make sense in his world.
So why would it make sense on television?
I totally agree.
I think that would be a big discussion in their house.
I don't think it would go over.
I don't think so either.
But Chris Harrison is hosting a new dating show nearly five years after Bachelor exit.
Stay tuned for the announcement of when the show will air.
but if you're out there looking for a relationship,
maybe this is the show for you.
Speaking of relationships,
we've obviously followed Nick and Natalie
along the headlines here recently as they announced.
They're hosting a show on Netflix that will be coming out very soon.
They also had a big announcement this week, Trista,
where they're expecting twins.
I don't understand what this means.
So you have to explain it to me.
I just don't know.
Rainbow babies.
I don't know what that is.
I literally was going to ask you.
I know I've heard, I think it's when you've had a loss, like a miscarriage.
Okay.
And after the miscarriage or I don't know if it includes infertility struggles or fertility
struggles.
And then if you have a rainbow baby, like we struggled with getting pregnant for two years.
And then we got pregnant with Max.
So I don't know if Max is technically called a rainbow baby because we didn't suffer a miscarriage
before.
But I believe it's because.
So that's in reference to obviously other things they've been public about.
They've had three miscarriages over the last year.
I mean, this has been something they've been really trying to build and grow their family.
And goodness gracious, now they're having twins.
I mean, what, like, just, I can't imagine finding out I'm having twins or like that Jess is having twins.
But like, that's, I mean, it still sets me back.
And I thought I was ready to have a second.
And I'm like, oh, gosh.
Twins. That sounds wild.
Totally.
But tell us a little more about this.
Obviously, they're expanding their family.
So Natalie said our rainbow babies are finally ready to join us.
And this time it's twins.
She and Nick wrote in a joint caption.
They have really sweet photos with their two-year-old daughter River sitting on Nick's hip,
wearing a cute little sweater saying big sister.
I mean, I love all the announcements.
All the announcements are so cute and honestly so happy for them.
I cannot imagine experiencing three miscarriages in one year, let alone ever.
And then to be blessed with the news that you're having twins.
Wow.
I'm laughing only because when you just still say twins, I just go, whoa.
That's wild.
I saw actually, I was kind of.
processing this as we prepared for today and we're so happy for them and anybody if the announcements
do get me every time and I was again processing the idea of having twins and what that would be like
and what my house would look like and all these things I was like putting myself in that scenario
I was like this seems so wild and then I saw saw and I remembered Ari Lyndeike and Lauren
they had twins yes they did and I saw Ari had commented twins of the best which is all really you need
to hear that like especially I think as you're preparing for is like not only
can we do this, they're great.
Yes. That's fun.
So congratulations to Nick and Natalie, again, on their announcement.
No due date was announced, but I did see on Instagram that she had commented,
I think walking into like brunch or something, that she's very pregnant.
Oh, got it.
So they waited a little bit longer, maybe.
And with twins, she's going to show a little more.
Yeah.
Again, wild.
I thought it was crazy when one was in there.
Because so many things happening inside your body.
Oh, is throwing it back.

The Bachelor Mansion, we mentioned this show a few months ago when it was announced,
but now we have a trailer.
The Bachelor Mansion is in rough shape right now or it was as of like a few.
Not anymore.
I was just there.
Oh, you were just there?
Does it look nice?
Well, because we did the Re-I-Man.
Oh, yes. So you've seen it all.
You've got the sneak peaks.
Goodness, Trista's sitting on a lot of info here.
HETV trailer was revealed.
And it shows some contestants that we know and love from the show showing up to the mansion for the renna, which was needed.
I think anybody that was there a year ago could have said, hey, this house needed a little makeover.
Yeah.
It was, I remember coming out the show Trista.
And I waited a year.
and then I was in a conversation with maybe Ashley about the mansion and how wonderful it is and how like
how many memories we have there. But I remember it not being great. And it's not a bad house. Goodness,
it's a mansion and it's not like I couldn't live there. It was just torn up from years and years and
years of furniture coming in and out. There's a family that lives there full time. So everything that
they owned had to be removed all the time. And then when I was filming, I remember the doors and windows
being open all the time.
So you have critters coming in and out of that house.
Oh, heck yeah.
It just needed, like, it needed some love.
Yeah.
And this, I think, is going to be a great way to do it.
It's a great way to do it.
I just am taking it so personally that I was not asked to be a part of it in any way.
So Ryan and I did a pilot called Rocky Mountain Renaud for HDTV.
Yeah.
And come on.
Like, I mean, please.
Do I have an interior design?
degree? No, but I love design and I'm like, oh, that would have been so much fun. And anyway, I
I mean, I talked to Joan a lot and Tasha because we were both at the mansion. So Tasha and
Tyler Cameron are the hosts. And there's a competition with people including Joan. We've got Jill
Chen. We've got Dean Bell. We've got Courtney Robertson. We've got Sandra and
Sam, Alicia, so many people are competing, and they're competing for the chance to win 100 grand
at the end of this.
It's not a small amount of money.
No.
I'm looking at, I mean, 100% it would have been a home run to have you in Ryan there, but we do have some, you know, Joan obviously is a part of this.
As you mentioned, she's on the show.
Jojo Fletcher, Rachel Bilsen, Nate Berkus, Christina Hack, and Sean Lowe kind of.
to come in and do guest appearances.
I, out of this, I mean, I think this is an all-star list of people.
It really is.
From Dean to Jill, to Noah, to Joan.
But one of the people I love so much, goodness, I think she's fantastic as Courtney Robertson.
I know all these people's backgrounds when it comes to either interior design or construction.
I don't know Courtney's.
I think she's a realtor.
She's a realtor.
So that makes sense.
Okay.
Most of everybody on this list has some type of association with homes.
Homes of some kind.
The Bachelor Mansion takeover premieres on Monday, March 2nd at 8 p.m. Eastern Time on HGTV.
And then each new episode will be available to stream the next day on HBO Max and Discovery Plus.
I think it's going to be so much fun.
The only problem is they can never do it again.
Like what you do it once it's over, right?
It's done.
Well, I don't know.
I mean, they could redo it again and again and again, but I don't see them doing that.
I don't think that's good for home.
But like, I don't even know how you set up a show to be like, hey, we're going to have one season.
Right.
Like, this is all we got.
Let's have a good time.
Michael A, who we remember from The Bachelorette.
And then again on season eight of Bachelor in Paradise has revealed just recently on social media that he's 60 days.
sober and he gives some reasons on why he doesn't miss it.
This is interesting, one, because there's so many people, what is today, the six,
there's so many people that are like 37 days sober because January 1st is such a popular
day to stop drinking.
But he's gone 60 days.
So he didn't do dry January.
He's doing it.
Yeah.
Good for him.
He said, what I've noticed is simple but profound, clearer mornings, deeper rest, quieter thoughts.
I feel present in my body again, present in my life.
The noise I thought I needed to turn down, turns out I could handle it better without it.
So good for him.
I don't drink a lot.
But anytime I hear about Dry January, I'm like, yeah, no.
Yeah.
I'm good.
Yeah, that my thing.
But more power to people who feel like, you know, maybe they were, you know,
indulging a bit too much and just want to have a clearer mind.
Yeah, Dry January is a good reason to be reset.
and I think it's a good excuse.
So if I were to stop for a month,
it would be in January because I know I could use it as a backup
instead of just telling my buddy's like,
I just am not this month.
And more of your friends,
there's probably a good probability
that you're going to have other people joining you.
A lot of my friends are doing it.
A lot of my friends are doing it and loving it.
Good.
It just doesn't.
I don't think it affects my life positively or negatively enough.
Yeah.
But I know so many people who have gone sober.
because it's negatively affected their life.
And I have yet to meet anybody
that doesn't say they're better for it.
True.
So, congratulations to Michael A
for making the decision
and sticking by it 60 days sober.
Trista here, I'm sure it says,
what is the reason why he chose to do it?
I don't think he had a reason.
He actually, he said,
hold of these.
He said,
Oh, 60 days since my last drink.
I didn't mark it on a calendar.
I just started paying attention.
And I think he just was feeling like foggy.
He was feeling like he needed to just be more present and more clear in his life.
And that makes sense.
I think that's why I did it.
Yeah.
Big announcement, Katie Thurston, is in the headlines again for something very exciting.
Yeah.
Katie Thurston reveals that her name.
Jeff are buying a house. And then she also shares some of her other 2026 goals. Obviously,
we've covered the Katie Thurston's, you know, breast cancer journey. And then also, I believe
recently her mom, we covered that on headlines. Also had breast, has breast cancer. So we've
talked about that a lot. But now we're talking about some of her goals, which is a really fun way
to cover Katie Thurston. I mean, yeah, she's been through so much.
And a house, buying a house is always a fun thing.
It's so fun.
I loved that whole process.
Especially your first.
Totally.
You feel like an adult.
You feel like an adult.
And then like you walk in, you're like, I could put something in this place.
Yeah.
And I don't have to ask anybody.
Totally.
It's mine.
It's mine.
It's my.
It feels so good.
Yes, I love it.
She also, I think this is a big part of the,
is that she's got new scans coming on February 13th, which will be the one year mark
since she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
And she's recently manifesting no evidence of disease.
Or she's manifesting no evidence of disease.
But at this point, I feel like that's where she is.
She's in a good place in her diagnosis and just hoping to manifest it completely being eradicated.
I mean a year in, and for her to see and even hope and believe that that's possible is such a win.
She also talks about how, I don't know if you remember this, Trista, but she had a whole Hawaii trip planned when she was diagnosed and it kind of got ruined, obviously, because of, you know, the situation is happening in her life.
So I believe in 2026 her hope is to redo that trip.
Yeah.
And I quote here, life is good.
life is good. My health is good. I'm happy to be alive, Katie says. That's awesome.
Love it.

Final headline of the week, there's a video kind of associated with this that I think adds some complexity to this announcement.
An anonymous gossip site, Des Mois.
hence at Jin Tran and Bravo star dating.
Trista, thanks to the powers of be at Iheart,
we were able to also match this headline up
with a video that Jin Tran recently posted
that seems to counter this announcement.
And my wife follows Des Moire.
Okay.
And typically, I feel like they're,
they're right or they're on to things.
I didn't. This is the first time I'm hearing
about this site. So I will be, I will be
hunting it down. It's a scroll
and a half. I mean, it's hours
of, not like I need more of that. Yeah,
who was seen with who win and where.
Yeah. But the video,
okay, so this announcement that
Jesse Solomon and
Jintran were spotted out together.
Okay. Is the announcement.
Right. And then we have
the video. And
like you said, Ben, the time
kind of works out.
So some are thinking that it's a clapback
to the man who bought her dinner.
So if you go watch the video,
I don't know if we link it or what,
maybe just do a search.
I think it was on TikTok,
on her TikTok account.
And she basically said,
well, actually, this is a quote.
I was out the other weekend at a bar.
Me and my friend were sitting at dinner
and these guys come and they sit next to us.
And they end up paying for our dinner.
honestly not a green flag or a red flag.
I think that's a yellow flag.
I can afford my own dinner, but they offered.
And I was like, sure, you can have my dinner.
Pay for it.
It's what happens afterwards because I think there are multiple ways you can go about it.
You can pay for the dinner and just be a gentleman and nothing can happen.
However, if you're paying for the dinner and then you're expecting something to come out of it, you're disgusting.
In my head, I'm like, why do you want to pay for my dinner?
Is my husband really going to be out here buying random girls dinners?
do you know who pays for random girls dinners?
Insecure men because they want to flex their money
and their big little wallets in my face.
And close quote from Jen Tran.
Yep.
Let's discuss this for a second.
Yeah.
There was actually more to the video that I,
not just this, but it was, it was very, very interesting.
I don't know if this is a thing that Jen is doing.
We've covered a couple of her videos.
One, I love the setup that she has.
She's always like sitting somewhere in like her pajamas.
and she just has like a buffet of food in front of her.
She's just scarfing.
I think it's hilarious.
And then she's just going off.
She's like,
mm.
Yeah.
She's just going off on rants.
And then she'll pause in between and be like,
this ice cream's really good.
Yeah.
Okay.
I don't really disagree with anything that Jen is saying in this video other than I think,
and goodness,
I know so many guys who have tried a thousand ways to approach women.
And they are,
they have.
ulterior motives and they're not like good and healthy.
So I do know that's a thing.
Not dismissing that.
However,
I also know so many guys who are good guys who are so nervous
to approach a beautiful woman when they're single
and they're looking for a way to do that without.
And it's really hard to come up with a reason.
If you're nervous especially to approach somebody.
Right.
That's not like, hey, can I buy you a drink?
It's not that they want to buy you a drink, I think.
It's not, I would say most of my buddy.
who are dating are not trying to flex their wallets because they don't have big wallets.
Like they don't really want to be buying you a drink anyways. They don't have a lot of money.
So it's just mostly like a hello.
Yeah.
And without saying, hey, I think you're really pretty right off the bat.
Yeah.
It's like just opening up the door enough to be like, I noticed you enough that can I like show you that I appreciate your beauty?
Yeah.
I would think also that would go along with dinner.
And so I don't want to think that buying somebody dinner is misogynistic or like, hey, look how much money I have.
You can't afford this to let me buy it for you.
Right.
I don't want to assume that that is what happens.
I do think we need to understand and maybe just like take a step back and be like, hey, guys are very nervous to approach a beautiful woman.
Yeah.
Most of my buddies who are a little awkward don't know how to do it, but they're great guys.
Yeah, totally. Well, I think there are those people. They're the great guys, and then there are the guys who maybe have ulterior motives. And I think what the video went on to explain is she got the sense that they wanted something out of it, that they were expecting more than just hanging out with them and paying for their dinner. So I think it was just like her commentary on, wait, so were you just buying me dinner to be the nice guy who wanted to say, I appreciate your beauty? Or were you saying,
I want to buy you dinner because I want to get you back to my hotel room.
And I do think most people could read through that pretty quickly.
She did, I think, in the video quote, at some point the guy said,
I make more money than you anyways.
Oh, yes.
That was, come on.
Come on.
I mean, that showed his cards right there.
Oh, it's done.
At that point, you're done.
Get up, walk away.
Don't spend any more time.
No.
I also, and the almost famous listeners have gotten mad at me about this.
For years and years and years and I used to ride this train and I stopped because I couldn't take the comments about it anymore.
But I'm jumping right back on the train right now.
Any time.
And Jen mentions this without saying it the same way I do.
Anytime somebody has to describe themselves to you in a positive light, Trista, I love that you love yourself and that you're confident in yourself.
Do I?
No.
I don't know.
I'm asking that question to myself all the time.
But I love that you could sit here and tell me,
hey, I'm a good mom.
I'm a loving wife, all these things.
You could say that.
And I believe it.
However, I don't actually know if I need you telling me those things.
Totally.
I want to be the one telling you it from my witness.
I call it self-describing.
So Jen in the video says that the guy sat down and pretty much immediate,
he was like, well, I just want to let you know I'm not an asshole.
And it's like, as soon as somebody says something like that to you, that is a moment to take a step back.
How many people have we met that's like, oh, you know, I'm a nice guy.
If I sat down with you, Tristan, I was like, oh, you know me.
I'm a nice guy.
Nope.
Like, that's a weird thing I feel like for me to say.
Uh-huh.
You can say that about me.
Right.
You can talk about me behind my back and say, hey, been such a nice guy.
I don't even have to hear it.
But if at some point I am so insecure in who I am that I have to describe.
myself to almost manipulate your thought process, I think that is a red flag.
Yes. I don't know why you would get pushback on that.
I just, well, the show has a lot of self-describing, and it was always my like red flag
when I was watching The Bachelor, when somebody would come in and be like, you know, I'm not
crazy. I'm like, you're 100% crazy now.
Just because you said that? Yeah, you are.
It's all over.
You know what? And also, I am so drawn to the humility and
people, my husband is the most humble person you will ever meet on the planet. So I feel like I,
yes, completely, it gives me the ick. If someone's like, I'm a nice guy. I'm not crazy.
Yeah. Oh, yes, you are. And I'm staying far away from it. 100%. There's so many ways we can do this.
I've heard people tell them, tell me, you know, I'm really smart is another one. I'm like, oh, goodness.
If you have to say that, then I don't know. We have a lot of work to do.
Anyways, Jen Tran posted video.
It seems like she is trying to tell the public that, no, this Jesse Solomon rumor is not true.
She said within a thousand miles of her, there is no guys that intrigue her or interest her.
So we have this post saying that it won't be surprised if we see them out together again.
And her video from the source saying, no guys.
We are assuming that she was talking about Jesse, but still, timing works out.
