Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed human. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what you're saying. Yep, that's me. Clivert Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits,
Starting point is 00:00:12 my basketball and college football journey, or my career in sports media. Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifers Show. This is a place for raw, unfills of conversations with athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated.
Starting point is 00:00:28 So let's get to it. Listen to The Clifford Show on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok podcast network on TikTok. On paper, the three hosts of the Nick Dick & Poll show are geniuses. We can explain how AI works, data centers, but there are certain things that we don't necessarily understand. Better version of Play Stupid Games, Win Stupid Prizes. Yes. Which, by the way, wasn't Taylor Swift, who said that for the first time.
Starting point is 00:00:58 I actually thought it was. I got that wrong. But hey, no one's perfect. We're pretty close, though. Listen to the Nick, Dick, and Paul show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. On a recent episode of the podcast, Money and Wealth with John Hobriant,
Starting point is 00:01:13 I sit down with Tiffany the budgetista Aliche to talk about what it really takes to take control of your money. What would that look like in our families if everyone was able to pass on wealth to the people when they're no longer here? We break down budgeting. financial discipline, and how to build real wealth, starting with the mindset shifts.
Starting point is 00:01:32 Too many of us were never, ever taught. If you've ever felt you didn't get the memo on money, this conversation is for you to hear more. Listen to Money and Wealth with John Hope Bryant from the Black Effect Network on the I'd Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hi, everyone. I'm Cheryl Stray, author of Wild and Tiny Beautiful Things. I'm excited to share that I have a new podcast called Mind Over Mountain. In each episode, I interview athletes, adventurers, and adrenaline seekers to discuss the inner landscapes that informed and inspired their extraordinary feats.
Starting point is 00:02:10 So we too can better understand how to face our own seemingly insurmountable challenges. Listen to Mind Over Mountain every Thursday on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. This is the Ben and Ashley I, almost famous podcast, with iHeartRadio. We're back on the almost famous podcast with another recap of the real housewives of Rhode Island. The best time of the day. Why do I get excited to break this down?
Starting point is 00:02:38 I mean, I get excited about a lot of things on this show. I do love doing it and I love talking to your sister, Lauren. She is one of my favorite humans that ever exists in the world. However, there is a different excitement for me when I get to break down this show for some reason or another. Well, it's different for you. You've never watched it before. And the episodes get better and better every week. And I was very pleased with this week's episode.
Starting point is 00:03:01 And like Ashley would be in my top five women that I like feel a protection for and a love for in this world. So we've spent 10 years together. So when I watch this, I don't necessarily have the behind the scenes because it wasn't like she was calling me confiding in me. She was talking to you and her husband. So I'm watching this like blindly as a fan and a friend. and somebody I'm like, okay, I know she's awesome. I'm so nervous right now. I know.
Starting point is 00:03:31 And I want the girls to see and the viewers to see that like there's more to her than what she's giving right now. Yeah, because you can sense her nerves in a lot of these interactions. So I feel I feel like, come on, Ashley, come on, say more. But I know she's so nervous. And it's just because she's so sweet and she's scared to get yelled at. So that's also, I feel the protection too. Oh, these women could make her, I mean, if I don't want to see it.
Starting point is 00:04:03 Yeah. But there's a side of me that's like, if something turns and they go after Ashley, I'll be so mad at all those women. And I also will find it very entertained because they could crush her. I know. There's no reason to crush her, though. But she doesn't have, like, you're right. Like, it won't happen because she's not going to put herself in that position.
Starting point is 00:04:23 but sometimes these women are yelling at people for the stupidest stuff already. So true. So true. We don't even know what they could yell at her for. It's like buying the wrong brand of cereal or something, you know? Bringing a cheap bottle of wine. P.S. Yes, yes. A little note as we get started. Ashley does go on a cruise this episode. So she's there, but she's not there the whole time. And because of the drama about Rula and Brian, the mistress and Joeline, there's just a lot of drama that goes on. So we don't see Ashley a ton, but we see her a little bit.
Starting point is 00:04:52 I do want to mention it's going to be later on the episode. I noticed that Rosie is bringing better bottles of liquor to the parties now. I think she brought some Vuv to the like get together at the restaurant. And I was like, that's hilarious. Yeah, she's like, I'm not making that mistake again. No way. The episode starts with Rosie's gay friend Anthony invites her to a surprise birthday party for his husband, Jack.
Starting point is 00:05:25 And Anthony mentions that she can invite her friends. Well, that's great because the cameras will be up. And that's what we want to see. Isn't it amazing how the world are colliding here with no production at all? No production at all. Yeah, that was a really like quick little thing. And then we go right. It was like really nothing just to kind of say that like Rosie was kind of nervous to get back with the girls.
Starting point is 00:05:48 Because the last time Alicia flipped. And she won't have her emotional support friend because Ashley's on the lovely Royal Caribbean cruise with her lovely sister. Oh, yeah. Who do we see this episode? Yeah, we'll get into that, cutting out the fact that I cut Ashley's hair. Yeah, it's, I have a lot that I want to ask you about as one of Ashley's personal hair stylists and her sister in a second.
Starting point is 00:06:15 We do find out that Jo Ellen lost her grandfather. Was it grandfather or grandmother? Grandfather. And it was really, she almost made me tear up the way she was tearing up. She has like an infectious cry, honestly. Because she lost her father, and then her grandfather became like her father essentially and walked her down the aisle. And so it was a really big loss for her, even though he didn't make it to 100,
Starting point is 00:06:42 which is lovely. Yeah, let's celebrate that. In the great words and order of Winnie the Pooh. How lucky you might have something that makes saying good, buy so hard. Oh, come on. Goosebums. I love Winnie.
Starting point is 00:06:56 All right. Let's dive into this. There's so much that happens this episode. I would say this was one of the most action-packed episodes that we've had so far. There's a lot of changing storylines, a lot of different dynamics happening. So we'll kind of fly through some of the parts that feel less necessary. This part is very necessary. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:17 Ashley shows up to Kelsey's house for, uh, a haircut. This is all in the back end of Kelsey, if you remember a few episodes ago, criticizing Rosie for not kind of promoting her business when Kelsey did her hair. She promotes everybody else, but not her. And Kelsey's taking deep offense to it. So Ashley has a lot to live up to here. So she's at the house.
Starting point is 00:07:45 Ashley gets to see this magnificent mansion for the first time. Yeah. They're like, what can we do? with Kelsey and Ashley to like have them be closer basically. It's like, oh, let's have her cut her hair in the mansion so she can see where she lives and all this stuff. I thought it was funny because obviously they showed me washing Ashley's hair in the sink and then her going to this mansion with like a proper salon. Time out.
Starting point is 00:08:11 Let's pause here though. Let's talk about your scene. You are shown in this. Why is Ashley on your kitchen counter in your sink and not at your salon? Well, she, I was at her house and she doesn't have us a lawn. So that's why. And we did a huge chop that day. Like we cut her hair was like long, like almost boob length.
Starting point is 00:08:32 And then we cut it right above her shoulders. So she could differentiate yourself from all the other women that have long brown hair. So that's why she did the tiniest, tiny little trim just like kind of make this a storyline, honestly. And going back to Rosie and not posting and all that stuff. I was like, you don't have to post anything. Also, like, I wouldn't post if I just got a trim and some curls. I wouldn't be like, look at this. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:09:01 If you are a paying customer, you don't need a post. If you are exchanging a post for service, then, yeah, obviously you're not posting, but that wasn't the case. And I am so scared to watch this reunion between Rosie and Kelsey. Yeah, I mean, it's not going well. And we're only five episodes in. Yeah. Did they set up this Kelsey Ashley meeting because they're hoping that there was a friendship that could blossom between the two of them?
Starting point is 00:09:28 I mean, I can tell in Ashley's face when Kelsey is explaining the situation about not getting opposed to. Ashley's like, I don't agree with you. And I'm in your house. And I don't know what to say. No, Ashley says, I see, I like her is what she says. Yeah, she says, I like Rosie. I'm sorry. I like Rosie basically.
Starting point is 00:09:45 But like she should have been like, oh, come on. Kelsey, like, did she pay you, then that's what you get. But that's actually being too nice, you know? Yeah, it's, it's weird, though, that it's become such a major thing. I agree. I wouldn't remember. Like what you said last week, like, I wouldn't remember if I did someone's hair and they didn't post. So she's holding onto a lot. It must be that there is like a weight put into this of, hey, I'm going to cut this news anchors hair. This is going to blow up my business. This is kind of my next thing. True. It feels like it. if I was sitting with Kelsey and able to, like, be her therapist, which I'm not licensed to do,
Starting point is 00:10:25 nor do I think I'd be very good at it. But it would be like, all these things are stemming from this, like, searching for meaning. Yeah. In her way out, basically, of the situation that she's in. That's it. It's like you're crying to get out of this. Maybe the Band-Aid just needs to be ripped off. If there's not a better time than when you're on, you know, on Bravo as a real housewife,
Starting point is 00:10:47 I don't know what it is. Like now is your opening. Go, run. Yes, yes. Say goodbye. And then Kelsey starts coming at Rosie for like the house that she's building. And she's like, it's not even that big. I'm like, you don't even own a house.
Starting point is 00:11:01 So like, are you jealous? Like, why are you coming at someone when you're literally just living in someone else's house? Yeah, it feels good to see other people, you know, feel like other people are experiencing a pain. Or if you're trying to hide something. I don't know how. we saw two episodes ago their remodel of this house it looked pretty big to me yeah it look big you're building a house you're designing it it's a big job it's like all consuming and it doesn't really matter how big it is if she's exaggerating the square footage fine but the fact that she's
Starting point is 00:11:34 building her own house don't diminish that well it's a little bit though and i and i do think we're going to fall into this and i and i wonder how much of the production of behind the scenes this plays into it. But it is a little bit with this show of keeping up with the Joneses. Yeah. And there is that envy, that jealousy that I need to, you know, perform. That's one of the things I love about Ashley so far in this. Yes, we want her to speak up and get into it. However, what I love is that we're seeing that Ashley really doesn't have this desire to be richer, cooler, more important than anybody else. That's not how she comes at conversations. And And I'm watching this going, like, this is such a beautiful thing to witness on a show like this is where somebody isn't drawn in to the rat race.
Starting point is 00:12:26 Yeah, I remember production at the beginning when they were like going over outfits and different events and stuff. And they're like, what are you going to wear? She's like, I was going to wear like this like body suit and like some jeans. They're like, do you have like Gucci or Blentziaga? And I just like, no, no. So then Dolores ended up giving her some bags. just to like where to like keep up with the Jones is. And like we got to fluff it a little bit,
Starting point is 00:12:51 but she would never buy something like that. And it's it's not only attractive. It's also a really fun dynamic to see somebody like Ashley and then somebody who's out there like this, a lot of these women are trying to, you know, either name drop or boost how much money they have or what they're doing, which is always a very unattractive quality in people is when you sit in a room and everybody's like,
Starting point is 00:13:16 oh, who do you know and how much money do you have? Not important, not cool. You would be surprised how many people do it, though. It's unbelievable. Yeah, but again, I think it comes from a place of insecurity. You're right. You're right. Therapist, Ben. Yeah, yeah, that's right.
Starting point is 00:13:33 This, how do you feel about, like, do you personally, Lauren, did you feel a little bit of like jealousy and envy and protection over Ashley? She sat in that chair and got her haircut by Kelsey? If it was like the greatest haircut, ever had that was life-changing i'd be a little pissed you know i'm saying but um didn't look that extraordinary to me i'm i'm gonna be torn apart by kelsey because you know like i'm more rye or die rosy so like if kelsey ever listens to this i'm beheaded that's okay maybe we'll see you more often on the but i will say Kelsey is like so stunning like annoyingly beautiful i'll give her that she is
Starting point is 00:14:11 gorgeous yeah she is gorgeous and i think that's something that everybody knows. It's almost like you're yelling at the screen being like, recognize it, Kelsey. Like, you know, you have nothing to prove here. So true. Yeah. Experience Megan Maroney live on her only Canadian tour date. June 20th in Toronto. Starting point is 00:15:16 my journey from basketball to college football, or my career in sports media. Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I, ever imagined. Starting point is 00:16:09 Hi everyone. I'm Cheryl Stray, author of Wild and Tiny Beautiful Things. I'm excited to share that I have a new podcast called Mind Over Mountain. In each episode, I interview athletes, adventures, and adrenaline. seekers to discuss the inner landscapes and life experiences that informed and inspired their extraordinary feats. I also bring a bit of advice into the mix so we too can better understand how to face our own seemingly insurmountable challenges. Do you know what I'm going to do? I'm going to pull out what you already have inside. We're coming into this world fighting for our lives. All I'm going to do is pull out
Starting point is 00:16:45 what you already got inside. We're there to support and celebrate each other. And that's not like your story versus my story. You're going to walk up and over that dang mountain. You're not just going to put your mind over it. Yep, yep, exactly. And if I can't walk up and over it, I'm going to go through it. Listen to Mind Over Mountain every Thursday on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:17:11 American soccer is about to explode. The World Cup is coming. Ramos sending on to Ernie. I'm Tab Ramos. I'm Tom Boe. On our podcast, Inside American Soccer, you'll get the real storylines. I'm not worried about Policic, I'm not worried about Balligan, I'm not worried about McKinney.
Starting point is 00:17:35 My only concern is what happens in the back. The biggest decisions. You're going to look at stats and numbers. He has no shot at making this World Cup team. And the truth about the U.S. national team. It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run into the semifinals. The World Cup is almost here.
Starting point is 00:17:56 Experience it all with us. USA! Listen, Inside American Soccer with Tom Bogart and Tabramos on the iHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcast. We are going to flash through this Jack's birthday party. They do go on a boat. It looks like it could be set up for a fun day. Honestly, it doesn't look that fun.
Starting point is 00:18:25 And I wonder watching this how much Jack's birthday party was taken away from by having the cameras there. I wonder what he would say. was, hey, that was a decent idea. And I'm glad that, like, the show paid for my birthday party. However, it really, like, there was, it took away from it. It seemed, yeah, it seemed, like, obviously there's two different, like, parties going on. You had the fight in Rosie and Ashley and Kelsey on one end.
Starting point is 00:18:55 And then it was a little awkward. And then Alicia didn't know about what games were. I don't know. I mean, I think Ashley did her, like, welcome party on that boat for her wedding, actually. Hmm. Did you go to that? I don't think I was at that. I wonder why.
Starting point is 00:19:14 I was at her wedding, though. I'm sure you were invited to that. But it is a fun time. It's lovely. So it should have been fun. But I think that it was obviously ruined by Rosie crying and fighting. It's, uh, Rosie's definitely getting like, she's the outsider here. like more than anybody else.
Starting point is 00:19:32 I feel bad for her. I hope she comes back because they are just like anything she says is not going well. And not posting someone's haircut is crazy. Like do you post your haircut every time you get your haircut? Me? Yes. No. No.
Starting point is 00:19:47 See? Why is it different? Yeah. My hair is not one to show off though. That's one thing. A very interesting switch here, Lauren, to the whole thing. The boat day was great. A lot of the things you said were brought up.
Starting point is 00:20:00 like there was the arguments. But we do get what I feel like could have been the whole episode is the Joellen and Rula sit down. They agree to sit down for brunch together without the husbands. And I actually think this is a, I'm enjoying Joellen and I think she'd be a good time to hang out with. She's definitely though one of those people that love to get into everybody's business and be actively involved in that business. and so I know this was something
Starting point is 00:20:32 that she probably was like really excited about I'm impressed that Rula said yes to it is my take I know I'm still impressed that she shows up to shoot this was such gold I still I don't know if Rula believes the words coming out of her mouth because Joellen's saying I literally have text messages between your husband and the mistress
Starting point is 00:20:55 from my friend and she and Joelan says that she knows the mistress because her kids went to school with the mistresses kids. And Rule is like, no, those, oh, no, no, no, those texts are from, like, AI. They're made up texts. And it's like, do you hear the words coming out of your mouth? Like, do you, she goes, and Brian told me that himself. I'm like, of course Brian told you that himself. What? I don't know what's, I don't know what's going on, Rola. Like, how could you believe that? And I love what men, I don't actually shouldn't say men.
Starting point is 00:21:33 I should say like people who cheat. They always say like, oh, the person, other person's crazy. They're crazy. Committable, you know. And so it's like, oh, no, she's unstable. It's like, that is a great way to still communicate and have text with someone and cover up a whole story. Brian is amazing. It's amazing television.
Starting point is 00:21:55 It is amazing television. Lauren, I want to dive into this. Yeah. I am so confused. You are married. I am married. I have a hard enough time. My wife is very allowing of me doing things I enjoy and love, like golf.
Starting point is 00:22:14 Yes, I am also very understanding. That boy is out of the house today. But I'm just confused on how this happens. And I know manipulation happens. And I know it's a process. Brian obviously is an intelligent person. because of his career and, you know, his education. However, like you said, he has somehow convinced Rula,
Starting point is 00:22:39 who also is a very intelligent person. Yeah. That this thing's not happening and any proof of it is either based on somebody being crazy or AI and made up. I don't know how you get to that. Like, I don't know how that happens in a relationship. You really just want to believe what they're saying. Like I've been cheated on in past relationships
Starting point is 00:23:00 and you just kind of want to believe it even if the proof is right there. Like one time I read a boyfriend's text like literally went through his phone, read them disgusted and still was like, I'm just going to ignore it because it's easier to ignore it. And especially with her actually being married and having kids. But then she also says she has a tracker on his car.
Starting point is 00:23:19 So she knows where he's going. And then Joe Ellen's like, they get breakfast or coffee every morning or something. The mistress and Brian get coffee every morning. She goes to the gym. Does he look like he goes to the gym? I call it line. And it's like, yeah, you can put a tracker on someone and be like, yeah, I'm about a coffee shop.
Starting point is 00:23:41 And then I'm going to work. And she can come to work. And trackers are foolproof. Not foolproof? They're not foolproof. You can go wherever you want. How in a town like this do you get away with anything like this, though? Sounds like he's just never gone away with it, not once.
Starting point is 00:24:00 And he's just somehow convinced the one person, his wife, who some, here's my confusion, if I'm honest, why does he care if his wife is mad or not? It doesn't sound like he's invested in that relationship at all. Right. If he's meeting up for coffee with somebody every morning, that sounds a lot more like a romantic relationship than what he has with Rula right now, where he's lying to her the whole time. And at what point does it? move beyond just being a mistress.
Starting point is 00:24:29 If you're having coffee with somebody and you're not just laying down beside them and, you know, doing what you want to do based on urges and lust, then you are no longer just cheating. You are full-blown in a relationship with somebody. Yeah. Yeah. And if what we see later on, I don't know if we're going to dive into that now, but he like kind of, it seems like when the mister says jump, he says how high.
Starting point is 00:24:53 Like, he's risking it all. and it appears that like yeah he doesn't really care if he gets caught because it kind of alludes to him making up elaborate lies just to go see her for an hour. So he's definitely like in love with her, I guess, and he should leave Rula, but maybe there's some financial things where he can or the appearance of a divorce like Rula said in the beginning. But this thing is definitely not over. And I don't know where it stands today like months after filming, but. But we do know that the mistress is posting things in his backyard still. And they're getting, I mean, goodness gracious, Lauren. Like, they're getting all this aired on television, which Brian is obviously very uncomfortable with.
Starting point is 00:25:39 He doesn't want any of this done publicly. What in the world did he think was going to happen? I think we've said that every episode for the last five episodes is what did he think was going to happen when you agreed to a show? And maybe he wasn't a part of the agreement. And this is kind of, but Rula just. feels like she doesn't want to know. So let's go to the intention of Joellen. Because none of these other women are really pressing the issue like Joellen is.
Starting point is 00:26:05 What is her intention of continuing to bring this up, continuing to make it a storyline, continuing to say, Rula, it's right in front of your face. I'm trying to share with you. Why is she doing that? If Rula continues to be like, Joeline, I don't care. Yeah, I really don't understand that. But this is kind of like something Ashley would do in like our personal lives is like she will not let it go until someone, like, has all the information. And it's very frustrating when
Starting point is 00:26:32 someone isn't listening to you. And at least what Rula could do is say, I, I hear you. I know what's happening. I will take it from here. But the fact that she's continuing to defend him is what's driving Joe Lund crazy, I think. It's like, let's just not stick up for him. It's fine if you guys want to continue this weird relationship. Obviously, polyamory or polygamy or where the hell is okay on the show. So we can handle that. It's just admit it. Just admit it to me.
Starting point is 00:26:59 That's what's right. Yeah. Yeah. It's going to be interesting, as you said, we were months post-filming. Hopefully season two will be picked up. I think it might be, I mean, it has to be a done deal.
Starting point is 00:27:10 This show has been so popular. I know. I know. Wild. But it'll be interesting and continue to follow to see if Rula ever does go back to Joelle and say, hey,
Starting point is 00:27:20 didn't feel good at the time, didn't like it at the time. Don't really know what your intention. were and continuing to bring it up. However, thank you for bringing the information to light to me. Yeah. We'll see if that ever happens. Rueless seems like a kind of person that will do that. Now, let me say I was watching, like, the old episodes just in here and then it rolled over into, like, the after shows. Have you watched any of those? No. I didn't watch until today. They are crazy on there.
Starting point is 00:27:50 So, like, they're admitting so much more stuff than what's shown on the actual episode. And Joellen was talking way back to when Rosie was asking about Kelsey's relationship. And Joanne's like, just don't get in your, just don't get in anyone's business. Just. And I'm like, Joanne, are you literally saying with a straight face, don't get in anyone's business? Unbelievable. So I highly recommend watching those. I was like, what?
Starting point is 00:28:17 And then Kelsey is so mean to Rosie in these. episodes too. So if Rosie is watching the after show too, they're going to need like a severe moderator in this reunion. Like I know it ends up getting physical, so. I mean, you've admitted
Starting point is 00:28:34 that you're, you know, you like Rosie, you're close with her. So when you see this stuff, do you feel like you're biased or are you like, no, this was just actually like very mean? Let's see, am I biased? I'm trying to watch from another perspective.
Starting point is 00:28:50 I think I would, oh, that's hard. I think it may be a little biased. I think that, like, Liz and Kelsey kind of seem like the cool, mean girls, you know, like the pretty cool mean girls, and I would want to be friends with them. But I know that I'd probably get along better with Ashley and Rosie, you know? So I would probably, like, want to be friends with them and, like, get their trust. But, yeah, so watching it as, like, a total outsider would probably be. be a little more neutral.
Starting point is 00:29:21 Okay. Yeah. This is where things get weird, Lauren. Yeah. The episodes continue to leave us on cliffhangers. They find it every week. We are going to go to the polo match. It's at Billy's Restaurant.
Starting point is 00:29:36 I kind of forget the exact name at this point. It looks like a cool... It's a mama? Or is it another one? Angelo's, Antonio's. Oh, yeah. Angelo's, Antonio's. It looks like a very, like, simple, nice.
Starting point is 00:29:50 little spot to grab a bite. The women are meeting there before the polo match. An important note is that they've gotten transportation to the polo match from the restaurant. So they can eat and drink and they have rides to the polo match. This is like a very welcoming fun experience and Brian and Rula show up. This is the first time that Joellen has been around Brian since their conversation at the party. And everything's going great. until Brian gets the phone call.
Starting point is 00:30:22 That his mom is sick and she's going to the hospital. And Rula and Brian say, hey, we're going to meet him to pull a match, but we're going to drive separate because we need to go check on Brian's mom. And to me, I'm feeling for Brian here, right? We all have parents, you know.
Starting point is 00:30:40 Even Joellen is. Everybody's like, dang. Like, that's tough. And that's kind of where we lead up to until we get to the polo match is that every, Everybody's feeling for him. Everybody's having a good time.
Starting point is 00:30:53 They're chatting. They FaceTimed Rula in the bus on the way to the pole match. And they find out that Brian is at the hospital with his mom and dad. But Rula didn't go. Interesting. It's very interesting. For one, you'd ask the question, Rula, why don't you just get on the bus and go to the pole match if you weren't going to go visit Brian's mom?
Starting point is 00:31:19 Correct. And I'm guessing Brian might have been pushing for Rula just to get in the bus. She's like, no, oh my God, you're so right. She goes, no, no, no, babe, I'll come with you, come with you. And then he's like, you know what? She's actually, you know what I think?
Starting point is 00:31:32 He was like, she's like, no, I'm home with you. And then they get home and home or something. And then he's like, actually, they're not going to the hospital. I'm just going to go check on her at the house, but I'll be back in like 10 minutes or something. And then that's when he got his little, Whatever the hell happened with his mistress, but we'll continue on. Yeah, no good things happen in 10 minutes.
Starting point is 00:31:57 For some people. For some people. Experience Megan Maroni live on her only Canadian tour date. June 20th in Toronto. I'm not worried about Balagan. I'm not worried about McKinney. My only concern is what happens
Starting point is 00:34:11 in the back. The biggest decisions. If you're going to look at stats and numbers, he has no shot at making this World Cup team. And the truth about the U.S. national team. It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great
Starting point is 00:34:27 run into the semifinals. The World Cup is almost here. Experience at all? with us. USA! Listen, Inside American Soccer with Tom Bogart and Tab Ramos on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcast. Hi, everyone.
Starting point is 00:34:45 I'm Cheryl Strayed, author of Wild and Tiny Beautiful Things. I'm excited to share that I have a new podcast called Mind Over Mountain. In each episode, I interview athletes, adventures, and adrenaline seekers to discuss the inner landscapes and life experiences that informed and inspired. their extraordinary feats. I also bring a bit of advice into the mix, so we too can better understand how to face our own seemingly insurmountable challenges.
Starting point is 00:35:13 Do you know what I'm going to do? I'm going to pull out what you already have inside. We're coming into this world, fighting for our lives. All I'm going to do is pull out what you already got inside. We're there to support and celebrate each other. And that's not like your story versus my story. You're going to walk up and over that dang mountain. You're not just going to put your mind over it.
Starting point is 00:35:32 Yep, yep. Exactly. And if I can't walk up and over it, I'm going to go through it. Listen to Mind Over Mountain every Thursday on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Brian is not with Rula when they FaceTime. So everybody does show up to the pool of match. It looks like such a fun day. It's beautiful, drinking, eating, hanging out with friends.
Starting point is 00:36:00 Everybody's dressed up. So they get to FaceTime. they hear that Brian is checking on his parents. I don't think this brings up like any shock and all. It's like, okay, fine. But then Joellen gets a text, Lauren, from a friend. Very convenient text, yes. How does that happen?
Starting point is 00:36:22 Actually, can you explain to me how that happens where it's so convenient? Well, honestly, maybe it was just like a, maybe Joe Allen was talking to her friend who also knows the mistress and was like, oh, I'm going to be seeing Brian and Rula today. How crazy is that going to be? And then maybe the friend got wind that the mistress was going to go hook up with him. And he's like, wait, aren't you filming? Let me text Jo Allen. So maybe it actually happened organically. When you are a mistress, are you texting your friend like, hey, I'm sorry, I can't, like, come see you right now. I'm going to go hook up with Brian for 10 minutes. Maybe she's really proud of like her role and she's like
Starting point is 00:37:04 ha ha I even got him away from filming I am so powerful and she had to share it with her friend interesting well it's an interesting friend to share it with because you know this friend also is one that's going to be sharing it with the masses but this all of a sudden starts
Starting point is 00:37:22 kind of the whole cycle towards the conclusion of this episode after this text Liz does say this is a lie Yeah, because it's too convenient. It's too convenient. Yeah, I understand that. And it's so elaborate.
Starting point is 00:37:37 I don't know how you even get your wife to stay home when she's on the way of the hospital with you. It is very convenient. And I understand Liz being like, okay, now everyone relax. This is just fairy tales until they show up to the pole match and his ring is missing because Kelsey is like, Brian, where is your ring? And he goes, oh, it's in the car. It's, uh, I forgot to put it on. It was on when they showed up to the bus.
Starting point is 00:38:06 And Joellen goes for the whole storyline. But that is wild to take your ring off. Like there's no other reason, right? Do you see another reason to have your ring off in that matter of time? Uh, he says what? He was putting gel in his kid's hair or something. Okay. I wear, I do hair.
Starting point is 00:38:25 I have goop all over all the time. This ring never comes off. No, I'm with you. I don't think that's an excuse. I'm just, there's a few things here. One, I'm impressed that anybody noticed that he had his ring on or not. That is so woman-coded. Like, I'm always looking at men's left hands.
Starting point is 00:38:46 That is wild to me that that's ever, like, a thing. Two, if I'm Brian, I know these women think I'm having an affair. Yeah. I'm doing everything I can. If it's not true, I also just use the word prove, to prove to them that I'm not doing it anymore. It's done.
Starting point is 00:39:10 It's over. I'm happy with my wife. I want to invest into my wife. That would be like, I would overcompensate. They'd probably be like, hey, dude, like, we get it that you like your wife. Back up a little bit here.
Starting point is 00:39:23 This is a lot. You're overcompensating. He is doing the opposite of overcompensating. He is trying zero. I know. I know. It's amazing to see it. And then I think that Liz or Alicia comes over and I don't remember who it was and goes, oh, what are you scrolling Instagram? Because it was right after Joellen was on her phone and saw that the mistress posted in Brian's car like an hour before. So the timeline is checking out even further. And so then this is where I find it to be very interesting. I think Liz comes over and goes, what are you doing on your phone? What are you scrolling Instagram?
Starting point is 00:40:04 My theory is that he's actively deleting texts with the mistress, texting her being like, delete that photo, you dumb, dumb, be. And then just making sure there's no evidence because he knows they're coming for him. And he needs to get rid of all that evidence. And when someone's also talking to you and you're continuously looking, down like ferociously on your phone you're doing something sketchy well i found it weird that two episodes in a row yeah he has you know pretty much like exited the situation or tried to at least he is very much not wanting to have this conversation on television he's really not want to have the
Starting point is 00:40:49 conversation with rula at all i don't know what happens when they get back in private but after the party remember the questions that Rula was asking. Like, just tell me it's done. And we didn't see that. Then here, when he gets confronted, he is, like, I'm not having this conversation here. And you're like, how many times can this do get out of this? That's what I'm thinking.
Starting point is 00:41:11 How many times can this guy get away with it? Again, we're talking completely different scenario. If Rula's like, yeah, he's doing this and I'm cool with it. No, all we want to hear from Brian. Not from Rula telling. us what the situation is. We want to hear from Brian. This isn't happening anymore,
Starting point is 00:41:29 but there's too many clues leading to it. Yeah. His defense, his continuous line they keep saying is, if I was going to leave Rula, I would have done it last year. And he says it like three times over. I'm like,
Starting point is 00:41:45 how is that your defense are using? And then he also says, oh yeah, I called her yesterday. She called me yesterday. And it's like, what did she have to say? And that's just another defense that if they go through his phone,
Starting point is 00:41:58 they'll see a call from her and it was harmless. It's just so obvious and it's amazing. It's got to be exhausting. Like really tiring for him. Like how is he, he's juggling all this stuff. I mean, he has to come up with an excuse.
Starting point is 00:42:11 Like, who knows if his mom was sick or not. But he uses that excuse to leave this party and leave the party to go see what we imagine is his mistress. That's a big, like, Circus acts going on. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:27 And let me be mean here for a second. Please. When Rula and Brian walk into the pole a match, it was another reminder how far out of his league she is. She's not only like five inches taller than him. You see them walk in. You're like, it's one of those, you know, that you get on Instagram,
Starting point is 00:42:46 your buddy send your picture. Like, this doesn't make sense. How is this couple together? How does it come to be? And he's like, I would leave her a year ago. You're like, dude. She, like, what are you talking about? I know.
Starting point is 00:42:58 I don't know how he's got such a big head. But what's really interesting is that basically on the bus list was like, this is bullshit. This isn't, you know, you guys, this timeline is too convenient. But then she sees the post on Instagram and then the way he's acting. She's like, okay, I believe you guys now. And also, Rula was saying, like, Joellen's perpetuating this narrative. And she hangs out with the wrong people. And Liz was like enough of blabbing Joellen.
Starting point is 00:43:27 Please look at the man standing next to you. And I was like, that's the right take here. It's like, just don't shoot the messenger. And Rula needs to get that through her head. That Joe Allen's not the enemy. Here's going to be the interesting part. There's a few things that come from this episode that I find fascinating. Does Brian ever show up again?
Starting point is 00:43:43 Does he ever agree to show up to a filming again? It's not gone well for him so far. The other one is we kind of started this season with Joellen being, the one that people were most hesitant to like, I think, does this switch Joe Ellen's, you know, friendship with everybody? Does she now get even more ingrained than the group and kind of become the PAC leader? Because she's like, I was telling you guys the whole time you never listened.
Starting point is 00:44:09 You should listen to me from here on out. Does that dynamic change where now all of a sudden, Joe Ellen is the beloved participant in the Real Housewives of Rhode Island? And then the final one for me is, where does Liz play at? Like, how does this Liz conversation play out in the long term? I mean, Liz switch. We saw it.
Starting point is 00:44:29 You just said it. Her role switched here to being no longer kind of hesitant of Joellen but saying, stop Rula. Like, look at this. Does that open Rula's eyes in episodes that come at all? Yeah, I mean, I really hope so. And in the beginning of the episode when it was Alicia, Joellen and Rula, or not Alicia, Joellen and Liz at Alicia's house,
Starting point is 00:44:50 Liz, sorry, yeah, Liz mentions that it's low-lying fruit to like pick on Rula, because it's such a sad situation. But there comes a time where, like, you can't help anyone anymore if they're not going to, like, admit what's happening. So first we'll see if Rula admits what's happening. And then we can see, like, how, like, Liz, you know, handles it all. On the after show, it's Rula, Rosie and Ashley sitting there and talking all about the episode. So, like, they are, like, a click.
Starting point is 00:45:20 Because I think these girls understand, like, it's hard to just admit that this is hard and what she's going through. So she's not, they're not going to badger her to admit that your husband is having to fare. So I feel like that's kind of how baby came and click is like, you don't have to say it. I know. Yeah. Yeah, that's fair. And that's good. Great episode, wild moments.
Starting point is 00:45:44 We do see in the preview, Ashley, get a little feisty. She said a word. She said a word. I like how you said that. That's good. I like that. Yeah, I'm excited to see what that's about. I think Kelsey goes a little overboard with Rosie and her hatred for Rosie.
Starting point is 00:46:02 So I think Ashley really needs to step in, you know, because she could lose Rosie if she doesn't defend Rosie at some point. And yeah, Ashley really can't afford to lose Rosie. And Rosie cannot afford to lose Ashley. We see what happens when Ashley is not around to pull her to the side. But I'm excited to see what Ashley is getting fight. about. That's going to be fun. Yeah. Oh, Kelsey calls out Rosie for lying. I know that it's a lot about, I think, her job and how she lost her job and lying about the square footage at the house. So, very exciting. Can't wait for that. I'm excited to see Ashley, obviously. And then it appears that
Starting point is 00:46:42 Kelsey is going through a breakup. And I wonder with who. That's kind of the mystery, right? Which one? I guess I assumed the dude who we haven't seen and the guy that is, you know, no longer around. That's why she's asking for tags on Instagram all of a sudden because she needs an income. Oh my goodness. This is so wild and so good. Lauren, has Ashley ever yelled at you? We've gotten in one, no, we've gotten two fights, two fights before. All my fault.
Starting point is 00:47:14 She's a saint. I really can't get into it. Yeah, but you have seen the feisty side of Ashley. Yeah. Is it good? Yeah, but only with me. I've never seen with anyone else. So I honestly have no idea how it's going to look.
Starting point is 00:47:32 It is very foreign to me as well. This is going to be wild. Lauren, it's another episode of the Real Housewives of Rhode Island. We're breaking it down here. This was episode five. How many episodes are in this season? 10. 10.
Starting point is 00:47:46 We're halfway through. It's kind of sad. And then we got the reunions. Yeah. For those will be as good as they get. Oh my God. I'm so scared. I'm going to need like wine during that.
Starting point is 00:47:59 Yeah. I'm going to be so stressed. We need to do a live watch party. Yes. For the almost famous podcast and all the listeners to watch us together and moan and groan and drink wine and say, this is wild. Is it crazy? Lauren, thanks for joining us today.
