Starting point is 00:01:16 at the center of a chilling true crime story. Does anyone know what show they've come to see? It's a story. It's about the scariest night of my life. This is Wisecrack, available now. Listen to Wisecrack. on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Every case that is a cold case that has DNA.
Starting point is 00:01:38 Right now in a backlog will be identified in our lifetime. On the new podcast, America's Crime Lab, every case has a story to tell. And the DNA holds the truth. He never thought he was going to get caught. And I just looked at my computer screen. I was just like, ah, gotcha. This technology's already solving so many cases. Listen to America's Crime Lab on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:02:05 This is the Ben and Ashley I, almost famous podcast with IHeart Radio. Hello and welcome. The one and only, Sandra. What's your last name, Sandra? Mason. Mason to the podcast. We know Sandra because she was epic. She was hilarious on the Golden Bachelor.
Starting point is 00:02:23 And she's rolling her eyes right now and shaking her head. And I'm like, Sandra, do you know how amazing you were and how we all, I think you win this superlative, one we wish we saw more of. Oh, I didn't know that. Yeah. That's kind of cool. All right. I think so.
Starting point is 00:02:39 So you just had like some really good one-liners. Is there anything that you were embarrassed of when it aired? Yeah. The fart. Well, of course the fart. So it was a 23 second, very loud fart. It was like basically the equivalent of the elf burp, an elf. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:01 You know, what you guys did not see is that Fartola lasted a lot longer than they showed. No. Yes. How does that happen? Well, you know, here's the thing. That all of that gas came because I had gotten sick. Oh. You know, and they had pumped me full of electrolytes and an IV and I was distended.
Starting point is 00:03:21 I looked four months pregnant. And so I kept telling the producer who was. interviewing me, we have to hurry, we have to hurry, we have to hurry. It's like, you're a balloon. I thought he had cut the feet. He said he had, but he didn't. And so he kept, and I kept telling him, it's going to come, it's going to come. So you all didn't hear that, right? So anyway, I finally, I had to let go.
Starting point is 00:03:42 And then I was so perturbed with him. That's why I looked at him and said, you were saying. Oh, thank you for the context. This is so amazing. But I do need to say, like, in the Bachelor Ranch and you get bloated more easily because you can't just like fart around your house because there's so many ladies around and then you get this big bubble of air in your stomach and it needs to come out. You've got to take a nap or like get under the covers.
Starting point is 00:04:07 Yeah, but mine wasn't just ordinary again. Yeah, yours was sick. I had all that stuff pumped into me. Yeah. You know, to help me feel better. But I know it was epic like you said. It was forever being known as a love art lady. I had a farting moment too that people will bring up from Bachelor in Paradise.
Starting point is 00:04:24 I don't remember that. It was like last year when Jared and I went back and like apparently our fantasy suite was ruined because I was gassy and I had a creamy Caesar. I do remember that. Yes, yes, yes, I do remember.
Starting point is 00:04:37 Look, okay, so you're a Bachelor fan. Yeah, oh yeah. So how long have you been watching? And it's just so just mind-blowing to be in this house and to have been casted and to walk out of a limo? Yes, yes.
Starting point is 00:04:50 And I just couldn't wait to see this mansion. Now, I know the mansion this mansion wasn't the one they used, I don't think, back when they first started Alex and then Trista house. It's been like 15 years. 15 years. Okay. But anyway, I've watched since the beginning. And most episodes, I must say I don't think I missed many. And I was fascinated with it. You know, young love and romance and all that kind of stuff. But so, you know, when this opportunity came along, it was like, why not? Did you sign yourself up or did somebody else? No, I signed myself up.
Starting point is 00:05:23 Literally, I can tell you a day. Well, never mind. Anyway, I signed myself up last November and totally forgot about it. Just forgot about it. Last September. Last November. Last November. Okay.
Starting point is 00:05:36 So this was like, they had been casting for a while because it got delayed for COVID and all that. Yes. Well, that was in 19 or 20, 2020. Yeah, exactly. They started the first air those. This was just 12 months ago. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:49 And then totally forgot about it. And in February, I get this phone call from. a strange number that I almost did not answer and had a great conversation with this young lady. And at the end, she says, well, do you have any questions for me? We made an appointment to talk with the casting director. And she said, do you have any questions for me? And I said, I do. And I said, what took you guys so long?
Starting point is 00:06:14 It had only been three months. That wasn't the most kind thing to say. But I said, I totally forgot, what took you so long? And she said, well, Ms. Mason. she said, she said, we've had over 20,000 applications, and you've made the first cut. So congratulations. I felt so bad. I felt so small, but your sassiness helps you get, get cast.
Starting point is 00:06:36 Is that what it is? I think so. Okay. If anybody asks me, I'll tell them be sassy. I think so, yes, 100%. So there was a lot of, like, chatter about the fact that you missed your daughter's wedding to be here on the show. But like give us some context. I'm assuming it wasn't like this huge like 200 person ceremony where like your daughter walks down the aisle in a big white dress. What was the situation? Good assumption. Okay. No. My daughter's 51. Her husband is 53, 54, something like that. He's a grandfather. They've each been married before. I mean, this is not like a 20 year old first wedding white dress and all that. Like you said, it was at any rate. My daughter, you know what? what I said on the show, my daughter said, mom, I've got my guy, you go get yours.
Starting point is 00:07:24 My son-in-law, bless his sweetheart, said, mom, our ceremony is eight minutes. Our marriage is a lifetime. She said, he said, let's celebrate the marriage. Go. We're not celebrating ceremony. We're going to celebrate the marriage. Go. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:39 And so. In a situation like that. Yeah. Of course. And here's the other thing, too. They scheduled this date for the wedding long before. Was like a courthouse thing? well like a little like a little like a little like ceremony very intimate
Starting point is 00:07:53 like a couple people very small yes they didn't need me there you know they just didn't and they were so more excited they were more excited about me and this opportunity than they were about this ceremony yeah you know so yeah oh yeah how I remember seeing your age and being like just absolutely mind boggles like I we need your beauty secrets okay so wait you like what you like what you You're 70? 75. Okay, that is, okay, that's what really went over the edge for me.
Starting point is 00:08:25 75. You're, Easton, like, what, what is this? Like, I've never seen something more mind-boggling. I think I'd look at her and say 55? 55? 55. Oh, you guys are sweet. Thank you, thank you.
Starting point is 00:08:41 Wow. Mm-hmm. Ed, everyone say hello Ed. From a very rural background myself, my dad is a farmer and my mom is a cousin, so like, it's not like... What do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club? I know it sounds like the start of a bad joke, but that really was my reality nine years ago. I just normally do straight stand-up, but this is a bit different.
Starting point is 00:09:11 On stage stood a comedian with a story that no one expected to hear. Well, 22nd of July 2015, a 23-year-old man had killed his family. And then he came to my house. So what do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club? A new podcast called Wisecrack, where stand-up comedy and murder takes center stage. Available now. Listen to Wisecrack on the IHeart Radio app, podcast or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:09:48 What would you do if one bad decision forced you to choose between a maximum security prison or the most brutal boot camp designed to be hell on earth? Unfortunately for Mark Lombardo, this was the choice he faced. He said, you are a number, a New York state number, and we own you. Shock incarceration, also known as boot camps, are short-term, highly regimented correctional programs that mimic military basic training. These programs aim to provide a shock of prison life, emphasizing strict discipline, physical training, hard labor, and rehabilitation programs.
Starting point is 00:10:27 Mark had one chance to complete this program and had no idea of the hell awaiting him the next six months. The first night was so overwhelming, and you don't know who's next to you. And we didn't know what to expect in the morning. Nobody tells you anything. Listen to shock incarceration on the eye. Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A foot washed up a shoe with some bones in it. They had no idea who it was.
Starting point is 00:10:54 Most everything was burned up pretty good from the fire that not a whole lot was salvageable. These are the coldest of cold cases, but everything is about to change. Every case that is a cold case that has DNA. Right now in a backlog will be identified in our lifetime. A small lab in Texas is cracking the code on DNA. Using new scientific tools, they're finding clues in evidence so tiny you might just miss it. He never thought he was going to get caught, and I just looked at my computer screen. I was just like, ah, gotcha.
Starting point is 00:11:27 On America's Crime Lab, we'll learn about victims and survivors, and you'll meet the team behind the scenes at Othrum, the Houston Lab that takes on the most hopeless cases, to finally solve the unsolvable. Listen to America's Crime Lab on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The U.S. Open is here. And on my podcast, Good Game with Sarah Spain, I'm breaking down the players from rising stars to legends chasing history. The predictions, will we see a first time winner? And the pressure. Billy Jean King says pressure is a privilege, you know. Plus, the stories and events off the court. And of course, the honey deuses, the signature cocktail of the U.S. Open. The U.S. Open has gotten to be a very fancy, wonderfully experiential sporting event. I mean, listen, the whole aim is to be accessible and inclusive for all tennis fans, whether you play tennis or not.
Starting point is 00:12:23 Tennis is full of compelling stories of late. Have you heard about icon Venus Williams' recent wildcard bids or the young Canadian Victoria Mboko making a name for herself? How about Naomi Osaka getting back to form? To hear this and more, listen to Good Game with Sarah Spain. I heart women's sports production in partnership with deep blue sports and entertainment on the IHart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Presented by Capital One, founding partner of IHeart women's sports.
Starting point is 00:12:54 All right. So let's just talk about your dating life since. Well, yeah, let's just talk about your dating life since you were divorced. How has, like, what, when were you divorced at what age? At what age? Oh, God, I don't know the age. I was, it was in 94, what age you, and I can do the math. I don't want to do the math either.
Starting point is 00:13:15 So it was 29 years ago. Yeah. Right. I've been single or unmarried for 29 years. How was dating at that age? And was it more fun to date on the show than it is in real life? Oh, well, told a different experience. I mean, I'm never, you know, if I, if I was dating guy, I don't, I didn't know if he had more
Starting point is 00:13:38 than one. I mean, I didn't know his playing field. Yeah. I mean, this is obviously a different experience than most human beings have 23 to 1.
Starting point is 00:13:51 You know. Was Gary your type? Yeah, I guess, yeah, he was. How so? Well, because I've always been attracted to tall men. My husband was tall. My daughters are six feet tall.
Starting point is 00:14:06 Whoa. Yeah. So, you know, I'm their little mommy um so and my dad was tall so i've always been attracted to tall men so gary was right there in the in that range and um he's smart sweet as i said on on the show he's a very gentle man and i like that i don't like the bully types the big brawny i don't need um and um you know gary has had a way of like he's like he said tonight i believe of when he's With someone, he shuts out everything else and he's right there with them. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:42 That's been a theme amongst all the interviews we've done with the ladies. Like, he really compartmentalized all the relationships. He did. Now, most of our one-on-ones were not shown on television, you know, 43 minutes. She can't show everybody's one-on-one every week. It doesn't work that way. But we had some great chats. And so I got a little more attracted to him each time I sat.
Starting point is 00:15:07 sat down with him because we talked a lot of football and some other fun stuff and we had we had a good time oh nice so were you were you surprised at who made the top three or were you seeing that all coming oh i wasn't surprised i think most of us could predict not necessarily predict but along the way we could see the relationships he was forming um with the last three and four that that that But, you know, it was not a surprise. Maybe a little disappointment, but it wasn't just a surprise. What did you think about him expressing being in love with all three? You can be super honest.
Starting point is 00:15:52 Can I be super honest? Part of me says, that's the way the show is. That's, he's not the first bachelor or bachelorette to have done that. Yeah. You know, to express feelings for more than one person. Yeah. I wish it could be different because feelings get in the way people get hurt, truly hurt. But again, that's the format of the show.
Starting point is 00:16:16 And so I would think that each one would know that going in that. And they kind of express it as the show goes on. Yeah, but he said he loves me, yes, but there's two others or yes, but there's another one. And I don't know what he's saying to the other. So that's always in the back of their head, the back of their mind. And so, I don't know. It's, I have mixed feelings about that. I mean, that's what gives the show its punch and it's mystery and it's intrigue and
Starting point is 00:16:45 makes people tune in and online. The chatter is. It did make this season really unpredictable. It did. It did. My last question for you is quite fun. If there was, if there was, if there. Why does this have to be the last question?
Starting point is 00:17:00 Can't we just keep going? This is fun. Good. We will have you back. If you'd like to come back, we were always looking. for guests all the time. Okay. And especially ones that'll be really honest about what they see on TV.
Starting point is 00:17:12 Recap with us one day, okay? Yes, ma'am. Okay, so if there is a golden bachelor in paradise, we haven't seen, you know, a group of men because there's never been a golden bachelorette. But if you were to cast a dream man to land on the beach, what celebrity would he look like? Denzel Washington. Did I hesitate?
Starting point is 00:17:33 And we're done. I wish the camera. camera was on her now. That was an amazing response. And great. We all love Denzel. Shout out to Pauletta. I mean, you know, with all due respect, he has a spouse.
Starting point is 00:17:47 Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Good choice. All right, Sandra, it's been a pleasure getting to know you more. You're such a hoot and a beautiful woman. You're just so, so gorge. All right.
