Listen to Wisecrack on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The Super Secret Bestie Club podcast season four is here. And we're locked in. That means more juicy chisement.
Starting point is 00:02:15 Terrible love advice. Evil spells to cast on your ex. No, no, no, no. We're not doing that this season. Oh. Well, this season, we're leveling up. Each episode will feature a special Bestie, and you're not going to want to miss it. My name is Curley.
Starting point is 00:02:28 And I'm Maya. Get in here. Listen to the super secret bestie club on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. This is the Ben and Ashley I, almost famous podcast with IHart Radio. We're live from Squaw Valley in Tahoe. Yep, IHart set us up with a really cool cabins. We're kind of having a three on three date tonight. Is it?
Starting point is 00:02:57 Especially after the game we're about to play. Oh my gosh. Okay. So basically, Jess, I just called you guys, Jen. That is your couple name. Jen. So Ben and Jess are here. Dean and Kalin, Becca and Garrett, but they're leaving.
Starting point is 00:03:10 They're not sleeping over at this cabin. And then Jared and myself. So we're spending Valentine's Day together, us three bachelor couples. And this podcast, we're going to talk about our stories, you know, our love stories. And we're also going to play this really fun. truth or dare game called was it kinky truth or dare so i love truth truth truth has always been my thing dares are not my thing and i think these dares are more like bedroom dares so i'm not sure if we're really going to be acting that here but we're having a great valentine's day and we're going to
Starting point is 00:03:42 be really open with you guys it's one of those pick a stick games here's how the game's going to work we're going to bring the couples up here into our little studio they're going to sit down we're going to mic them up and then i'm going to at random pull a stick out of the tube and ask that question. For example, give us an example question. For example, I just pulled a stick. It's a truth stick. It says, what person from high school
Starting point is 00:04:06 would you most want to booty call today? At that time, the couples have to answer that question. It would be a little awkward at times. We're going to try to censor it. Do you have an answer for that question? I really don't think I do. Like, I mean, honestly, my high school was great. We had a lot of fun.
Starting point is 00:04:24 I had a lot of, like, friends that were girls. but not a lot of love interests in high school I was kind of on my own there but this game's gonna be a blast we're gonna have a lot of fun this episode in addition to this kinky truth or dare game we're gonna just ask a couple some questions about their lives
Starting point is 00:04:39 figure out where they're at tell some love stories and also hopefully encourage all of you out there who are single or in a relationship to just continue to pursue love because love is love again we're in Squaw Valley in Nevada hanging out
Starting point is 00:04:56 out for the almost famous podcast. Hey, let's take a break. When we come back, we're going to have Becca and Garrett as our first guest. All right. We are back. We've got Becca and Garrett on the podcast. And we're going to be playing a little game with them since this is Valentine's Day episode. We're going to be doing a love game. But first, I want to talk to you guys about life on the road with Ben Higgins. Becca, what is one thing that you've learned about Ben that is surprising over the past couple weeks of rehearsals in the first couple shows. I have learned so much about Ben.
Starting point is 00:05:32 I just learned today that he was a zookeeper in Peru and I'm very jealous because I at some point of my life would like to work at a zoo so I asked him what qualifications I need. Apparently in Peru you can kind of just go in and do it and they'll let you feed the animals.
Starting point is 00:05:50 I also learned that he doesn't wear deodorant. I did not know about you. Do you wear a crystal stick? No, I haven't worn a deioner in years. Is this a Dean thing, though? It sounds like Dean Influency. Dean, about three years.
Starting point is 00:06:02 Dean was the one that kind of told me, talked me into it. It was also the same thing with like no underwear. It was a Dean thing that we talked through. I've kind of gone back. Dean and I kind of went back at the same time. We talk through this stuff often, but I've gone no deodorant for a while. It's so far I haven't gotten anybody saying it's not a good deal. I've been on stage with him now and through rehearsals for like 14 hour days.
Starting point is 00:06:24 I haven't smelled anything. You don't smell bad. Why not natural deodorant? You know, I haven't thought that much about it. There's moments like if I'm going out to something super stressful and I know that it's going to get me all worked up, I'll wear some dove deodorant, some women's deodorant, some dove all natural deodorant. Yeah, it's really nice.
Starting point is 00:06:46 No, aluminium. So I want to know, have you, did you wear it for our first show in Mesa? No. I forgot. That was a bad one. I forgot that. Did you have, do you think? Probably.
Starting point is 00:06:56 It was a stressful. It was a stressful experience. Well, that's why I'm surprised that you didn't. 2,000 people yelling. I will say, though, sometimes when I need extra strength deodorant, I will wear men's. I'll go in and sneak garrets. I don't think you've ever known that. The best deodorant, if anybody out there is like hyperhydrosis, is sirda dry.
Starting point is 00:07:16 It is unbelievable. It will paralyze your armpits like Botox. That sounds awesome. I used to have to do it in middle school, and it saved my life. life because I would have like puddles in middle school did you ever go through that Becca I think like a lot of teenage girls go through that I think so see I'm not really Garrett's like I did I still do I let it sweat I did but my sister had this weird prescription deodorant yeah it's like almost like so I used it I think two or three times
Starting point is 00:07:44 and then I didn't have any that's all you need that's all I needed and then it was fine that's what it is but yeah but I think for me it's not like feeling sweaty because I don't really sweat that much it's more just like I know if I'm like really nervous I can like smell my arms yeah yeah it's only when it's like a high stress environment um all right so what did you ben learn about becca so far being on the road uh you know we so here's what kind of where we're at right now on the tour uh we're a weekend we've had one show i just say i love the way you say tour it's like justin timberlake and how he says tour really tour tour tour tour um we will be on the road now for four months we just went through uh
Starting point is 00:08:23 Our first week of, like, 14-hour-day practices learning this show, the first note I was just sharing with Jess the night is Becca really cares to do this well. And I would imagine that transfers over to most things in life. Like, she really wants to do things well if she's going to do them. I've learned that. I would have not expected it. It's just something I've seen. And I respect that, especially when, you know, Ashley, I get to sit on this with you every week. I know you want this to be done well.
Starting point is 00:08:53 and like if you go into partnership with somebody and you go into business with somebody you go into a tour with somebody you want them to do it well because your name's up there as well just like this podcast the second thing is the details really matter to Becca
Starting point is 00:09:08 and the third is I don't think her brain has stopped churning since the moment we stepped out on that stage there's stuff that she's computing through her mind I think it's probably been now five times that I've just started to get comfortable to tell her like Becca you don't actually have to worry
Starting point is 00:09:23 about that like stop worrying about that piece of the show that isn't your job to produce this side of the show all you have to do is get up there and speak talk entertain don't worry about how the lights in the back are going to flash at this moment like that ain't you because you start trying to do all that and it's going to stress you out like it's going to paralyze you in this like i don't you you don't know your role um and so like for me it's fun i also like love what i've I have noticed and Jess mentioned it to me two nights ago after seeing it is this crew, Ashley, you have the same quality about you. And actually the people in the Bachelor world that I think we've all stayed in contact with have this very similar quality.
Starting point is 00:10:05 It's a unique factor that many people in this world have, but some don't, and it's sad when they don't, is every person matters, no matter if they are the least on the totem pole to the highest person in the totem pole, they're always treated the same. No matter if they were on this show or not on the show, you look them in the eyes, you thank them for their time, you care about their experience. You want people to feel loved,
Starting point is 00:10:33 and I think when you have those type of people's around you, life makes more sense, it gets a little bit better. So those are the things so far. I think the other part of this will be that Becca will enjoy the tour bus and being around people a lot more than I will. I love people, but as soon as I step on that bus, I think my door is closing. Speaking of, you guys have separate tour buses.
Starting point is 00:10:53 Yes. So how do you guys feel that's going to go socially? Like, is Ben going to be the guy that goes back to his hole every night? And then you're, like, down to socialize or like, how is this going to go? Well, I think, I feel like, I mean, we're only one show in. So I think pretty soon we're going to get tired. We're going to get run down because we've so far been going, going, going. and we still have 65 shows to go.
Starting point is 00:11:20 I do like my alone time, but I also am now realizing, because we have a whole crew. We have the dancers. We have the stage manager. And we're on a group text, and I have FOMO when they're all out doing stuff, and I'm not with them.
Starting point is 00:11:34 And so right now they're planning on going to a movie and dinner. I'm like, oh, we should all be together. So I think after each show, I mean, we'll all have our moments. And we, of course, Ben and I have to do meet and greets and meet all of the wonderful fans who have, spent so much money in time to see us but I definitely think I'm going to need a glass of wine chill out with the girls Garrett will be there for some of it with Minnow and then yeah we're
Starting point is 00:11:58 gonna want we're gonna close those doors and probably pass out yeah no no no offense any person it's just like too much interaction with humans yeah I mean like it paralyzes me to where like I don't even know who I am yeah same I get so exhausted I've like gotten I gotten rid of FOMO in my whole system. Like I don't experience FOMO anymore. I'm like if I need to be alone, it's because of a reason. I don't fear missing out because I know that I'm doing what I want. Yeah. Well, and that's I since the show I will say I've gotten better at that. Like I've gotten better at saying no, especially because Garrett's also very social. And so Garrett, I'm like, if you want to do that tonight, go hang out with your friends do your thing. Um, I think it, I was just on this high
Starting point is 00:12:38 starting the rehearsals in the show that I love being around all of them. And, um, especially there's moments when we're backstage or if we're interchance. rooms and it's quiet. I'm like, where are the dancers? Where are the girls? I need someone here to kind of pump me up, but it is everyone going through something like this is going to need their alone time. That brings us into the first game of this episode. We're going to play a couple games during this podcast with some of our couples that come onto, into the living room that we're talking at right now. We're going to ask them a few questions about their relationship. Some questions that aren't bachelor focused, some ones that I think are interesting. We're going to start with this
Starting point is 00:13:13 one. I've pulled it. So this is what the game looks like. There's this, like, tube that has sticks in it. These sticks have questions on them. I've been pulling these sticks out. Whatever stick I get, I'm going to ask you the question. So if it's super inappropriate, I'm sorry. Blame it on the game. The game is called kinky, truth or dare.
Starting point is 00:13:33 Yes, I like it. This is going to be a question for both of you. Answer however you feel comfortable. What is something that Becca does, Garrett, that really turns you on? He is so nervous right now. Yeah. Something that Becca does that really turns me on is when she walks around and does laundry or anything in her lingerie. Wait, in her lingerie.
Starting point is 00:14:01 Like in underwear or lingerie? I walk around just naked. Yeah, that's pretty sexy. You do. See, I don't feel sexy walking. I don't feel sexy naked. I feel sexy in lingerie. Oh, I love to be naked in my apartment.
Starting point is 00:14:15 I don't know what it is And I know probably our neighbors can see us But I'm either in my robe Or just like F it And I don't want any clothes Becca will do it like if I'm watching TV She'll come around the corner and be like Garrett pay attention to me
Starting point is 00:14:29 And I'll be like what okay Garrett do you walk around naked Sometimes Jerry are both such private People when it comes to like physical stuff That man like He barely changed his underwear in front of me.
Starting point is 00:14:46 Well, see, I don't know if the people live across the, we live on the top floor of our apartment complex. And I don't know if the people across from us can see us, but sometimes I do a very obnoxious thing where I'm like, hey, I wonder if they're looking in our apartment right now. And I'll just be like, oh, no, he'll bend over naked. He'll bend over naked and then he'll start like shaking his hips. I'll give them the fruit basket. Are you going to do this on the tour bus?
Starting point is 00:15:13 So, Garrett, are you going to stay on the tour bus the entire tour? No, I meet up with their roughly every two weeks. Oh, well, that's a lot of time apart. You can't do this on the tour bus. There's six other people in this. Yeah, yeah. I thought you're going to be like mooning Ben's tour bus. You can't.
Starting point is 00:15:26 I might, I could moon the tour bus, but I wouldn't show other parts. Becca, what's something that Garrett does that really turns you on? This is a fun game. You know, make up on my feet. He does this thing. Oh, I've said it before, but he likes to rub ears. And it, for some reason, it feels so good to me. that every time he does i i just like pulling closer and i'm like don't stop and i i don't know it's and
Starting point is 00:15:51 it i don't think he means it to be more sensual but it just feels so good that it is a very erotic zone i love when he rubs my ears next question i'm pulling out here again this is at random um but when we're speaking of your relationship okay just your relationship has garrar have you ever sustained from physical intimacy of any kind. We don't have to go into your details, any type of injury. I would just say very sore hip flexors. Becca? Injury for me personally.
Starting point is 00:16:34 Well, I mean, we broke a headboard, so we injured that. The fantasy suites, yeah, in the fantasy suites. That's right. We got that one down. Do you think it was a flimsy headboard? board or was it just that powerful? I mean, it was an intense. It wasn't bad, sorry.
Starting point is 00:16:51 I think I went, and it went oof. So, well, hey guys, we have one last question for you all before we send you off. I know that you, it's Valentine's Day, you're going to go out to dinner night, celebrate. But
Starting point is 00:17:05 pulled a card out of a second game that we're playing. It's called the ultimate game for couples. This game that will play at the end, we'll just ask you one question about your relationship. And you each have to answer it. Gare, I'm going to start with you. What was the first restaurant you and Becca ate at together outside of this whole experience?
Starting point is 00:17:27 The first restaurant that Becca and I ate at outside of us. You can discuss together, I guess. I think I know. We were in New York. Oh, yeah, it was New York. We went, I think it was a place called Catch. Actually, you want to know our first thing we had was Starbucks and a croissant sandwich at gm a that is true it was your first meal and i bet that felt so weird yeah yeah
Starting point is 00:17:52 it was finally the first time we could be seen in public together and and yeah we were in the back room at gma with people and i yeah i shouldn't have done a venty black coffee before going on stage yeah huh no i i didn't feel poopy i just felt like i just felt like i was gonna faint No, I feel like I'm a generally energetic guy. And when I did that, I was so overly energetic that I had to tell myself internally calm down. And I was so in my mind to calm down that the prompter came on and only Becca said, good morning America. So they're like a deer in headlights and Michael Stringham. And I looked at him, we're like, you okay over there?
Starting point is 00:18:37 Yeah, I was like, oh, was I supposed to say that? I got to wrap up this interview. How's your relationship with Michael Strayhan, your celebrity crush before all of us? How was it before this? Oh, wasn't he a celebrity crush before all this? Yeah. So how's your relationship today with him? It is.
Starting point is 00:18:53 Michael, if you're listening, I think it's amazing. I'm upset because Ben and I were just with him a couple weeks ago, and Ben has his number, and I don't. So I'm a little bit hurt about that, but he's wonderful. Next to the bed, she has a picture of Michael Strayhan in a heart and minnow. That is amazing. He's not joking. Michael Strain is in a hard frame next to my bed.
Starting point is 00:19:14 It's at my mom's house, but it's there. You guys, can we just have a Michael Stryan appreciation moment? That is one of the most friendly, genuine men ever. He is just as friendly and peppy on stage as he is in the back room. But to everyone.
Starting point is 00:19:28 Yeah. Not even when he's on and to whoever he's hosting. It's to everyone. He's friends with every. Like, he truly like feels friendship. It goes back to what he's at the beginning. He's one of those unique people that genuinely,
Starting point is 00:19:40 I think care about people, no matter what place they're at in life. He just enjoys an interaction with another human. And I think we talk about that. That is a factor as we get older and older. That is a differentiator that I think we all are learning to appreciate more and more. People matter. And when you find something that really cares about those people, it lights up your world, just like Michael Strait and does the Becca.
Starting point is 00:20:01 Garrett and Becca, thank you so much for an almost-famed podcast. Thanks for taking time out of your Valentine's Day to meet with us. Becca and I will be on tour at 65 cities. Now, go to bachelor liveonstage.com to look for tickets. Also, we're coming to your area. So make sure you come to say hi, see us, meet us, greet us, and maybe, just maybe a lucky local bachelor from your area. We'll find love on stage, bachelor live onstage.com.
Starting point is 00:20:26 Becca and Garrett, thank you. Thanks, guys. And you guys, when Ben says they're coming to your area, like they're literally coming to your area because there's 66 days in the entire tour. So, yeah. We're everywhere. They're coming to a driveable locale. Coming in hot.
Starting point is 00:20:43 Tour bus ready. My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly, and now I'm seriously suspicious. Wait a minute, Sam. Maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit. Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon. This person writes, my boyfriend has been hanging out with his young professor a lot. He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her. Now he's insisting we get to know each other, but I just want her gone.
Starting point is 00:21:09 Now hold up, isn't that against school policy? That sounds totally inappropriate. Well, according to this person, this is her boyfriend's former professor, and they're the same age. It's even more likely that they're cheating. He insists there's nothing between them. I mean, do you believe him? Well, he's certainly trying to get this person to believe him because he now wants them both to meet. So, do we find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated with his professor or not?
Starting point is 00:21:32 To hear the explosive finale, listen to the OK Storytime podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hi, my name is Enya Humanzor. Starting point is 00:24:12 They had no idea who it was. Most everything was burned up pretty good from the fire that not a whole lot was salvageable. These are the coldest of cold cases, but everything is about to change. Every case that is a cold case that has DNA right now in a backlog will be identified in our lifetime. A small lab in Texas is cracking the code on DNA. Using new scientific tools, they're finding clues. in evidence so tiny, you might just miss it. He never thought he was going to get caught,
Starting point is 00:24:43 and I just looked at my computer screen. I was just like, ah, got you. On America's Crime Lab, we'll learn about victims and survivors, and you'll meet the team behind the scenes at Othrum, the Houston Lab that takes on the most hopeless cases to finally solve the unsolvable. Listen to America's Crime Lab on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:25:08 all right well they really enjoyed the game honestly i think we we are on a time crunch today because we just got to really talk all these couples i think beck and garret would have stayed for hours i actually feel like i got to know them much better just from those uh popsicle questions okay um so my husband is on the way up from the like family room of this cabin and by the way we are in reno taho because ben is of course hosting Bachelor Live and Jared and I will be making a special appearance there. It's going to be so
Starting point is 00:25:42 awesome Ashley, I promise. This game I'm reading through these questions right now. They were about to ask these couples. I have to filter them a bit. I mean, this game was created by Goop, which is a Grineth Paltrow company. Oh, this is a Goop game? This is a Goop game. It is unreal. I mean,
Starting point is 00:25:59 there's stuff that I'm seeing and reading in here that is way beyond anything I could have imagined. All right, guys. Jared's studio hi babe uh hey babe can i just say actually you've given such more exciting entrances to everybody but yeah so jared's here she sees me every day it makes sense i see him when i wake up when i get bed um when he she's just not excited to see me anymore you believe this ben can you believe this we've been married six months she's not i am always excited to see you you're you don't really
Starting point is 00:26:27 care about seeing me are you kidding me i always care about seeing you i'm always one trying to touch you always cuddle with you you never you never want to do those things literally when he walks in the door I go, baby, and I'm like, I like, I would run to her. And he's just, like, I walk in the door and I look up. I'm like, oh, God, I got to get out of here. She's here. I was really praying to come home and she wouldn't be here. Of course not.
Starting point is 00:26:48 I'm always happy when you're here. Can we give a, I get an idea. Get really silent. Ashley, let's picture in your mind. Jared just walks through the door. What do you do? I, I go. You do exactly what you just did.
Starting point is 00:27:01 Yeah. Arms raised. Yeah, I always open my arms. And I go, like, back. Baby's home. It's pretty sweet. Sometimes, because she knows how much
Starting point is 00:27:10 I love our dog, Lois, and Lois is super excited when we get home, just like I need a dog and her tail's going a mile a minute. So sometimes Ashley
Starting point is 00:27:17 would pretend to be Lois when Lois is doing it and like it up and start shaking her butt. It's really adorable. I should really capture it on video one time. It was because one time
Starting point is 00:27:25 he was like, well, I'm sorry don't give you the attention that I give Lois. It's just that you're not right here ragging your tail. No, I know. I would say because
Starting point is 00:27:34 I'm like, Ashley, of course I get more excited when I see it's like, you're not at the door shaking your ass when I walk through. Hello, it's it. Now Ashley's got it. Well, Jared, this podcast has been a blast. We've been asking some super just like, I mean,
Starting point is 00:27:47 definitely inappropriate questions from this game called Kinky Truth or Dare. I saw it in the corner earlier and I really wanted to play. So I'm pretty happy right now. It's actually been fun. We've gotten some great answers. It's been funny. We're keeping this podcast about love and relationships and getting to know these couples a little bit better. To start the game, I'm going to ask a question.
Starting point is 00:28:06 that you both need to answer. Do we answer at the same time? No, no, answer separately. Jared, we'll start with you. Perfect. Love it. I love beginning things. What makes Ashley angrier than it should?
Starting point is 00:28:20 Angrier than it should? Frustrated, angrier, like, angry. Angry. I always think of enchanted. The first thing, one of the, oh, man, I had something to mind, but one thing that's so stupid is making the bed. Like, I make the bed and it looks great,
Starting point is 00:28:35 but then she'll come in and it doesn't like look perfect. I've gotten a lot better. What else gets you angry that I do? I used to get anger that he would make the bed and like he would just like throw the comforter. It's basically like if you just like threw the comfort to the other side and was like, it's made and just throw the pillows on. It's made. But now he like really knows how to make a bed. She's pretty justified in a lot of things she gets angry at because I was going to say I procrastinate.
Starting point is 00:28:59 But that's pretty justified. Like I'll wait for I need to do something. And she's like, oh, you need to email this person. Like, okay, I'll do it later. She's like, no, why don't you do it right now? Well, the thing, what about how our podcast payment? He's like, oh, podcast payment. You told me to email her and then I didn't do it until it was too late.
Starting point is 00:29:16 No, I did email, but then I never followed up. Long story short, anyway. This is fantastic. I also am a big follow-upper. Like, he'll just forget that the email was that. Well, I don't forget. Opportunity that didn't happen. I don't like to bother people.
Starting point is 00:29:28 Go get the opportunity, Jared. If I email someone and they don't respond, oh, oh, well. What happened yesterday? I followed up for him. And then she goes, oh my God, I forgot all about it. To the dark hole of my email, I would have totally forgotten. Yeah, it was a life lesson for me. Life lesson.
Starting point is 00:29:42 Okay, Ashley, what makes Jared angrier than it should? Everything. Everything. And it cannot be football related or any Boston sports related, please. I have an answer, but you go. Probably traveling. Traffic, traffic. Anything that's transport.
Starting point is 00:29:59 Oh, do you want to hear a fight that we had last week? So we were on our way. a movie downtown LA we were we were even like I wanted to go to one of those lounge theaters where they serve you dinner during it and then you get a recliner so we even were like we drove downtown we're gonna need we're gonna need an hour for traffic and we accepted this he got very angry and then we were in traffic and he was angry about traffic and we were planning a trip to see jaden tanner on orange county the next day and I was like Jared I truly don't know if this is gonna like it's if it's worth it because
Starting point is 00:30:34 you get so angry from traffic that I think that like you need to pick your mental health over this and then he's like I'm going to be fine like I know I'm really angry in traffic but then I get there and I'm happy. Was that not the case? You were fine but was it worth. I'm not sure that it was worth it. It was worth an hour of anger anger management. Maybe if you're you're you and I'm not me being like scared in the passenger seat. Are you really scared of me? There was a couple moments where you pressed on the gas like a wanting to ram into the car. Oh, I was very much in control of the car. Don't let her fool you, Ben.
Starting point is 00:31:10 So this is what makes you on Ben. This is what makes me angry. This is what makes me super angry is when Jared's angry, he uses the F word. I yell at myself constantly. He says F, F, F, F, at F, screaming it, not at me. And Jared isn't a big cusser. Like, he doesn't like, he cusses more than you would think. He's a Boston kid.
Starting point is 00:31:28 He has that to him, but like, I got the potty mouth every once in a while. But like, when he gets mad, That F word flies out of his mouth every third word. And I just feel very uncomfortable. I'm working on it. When I get angry, I yell at myself because here's not yelling at me, guys. Here's my answer is that I overreact when I do something stupid and I just beat myself to hell over it. It's so stupid.
Starting point is 00:31:52 Last night's a perfect example. I literally heated up pizza in dinner. He freaks out. He dropped the pizza. I dropped the pizza on the floor. On the floor. And I'm like, what? I'm such an effing idiot.
Starting point is 00:32:05 And then, like, ten minutes later, I was like, I dropped pizza on the floor. Why am I beating myself over the head? Are you actually mad? You would think that he had, like, third-degree burns on his hand. Because then I just get so angry. I'm like, why? How did I drop pizza? How did I do that?
Starting point is 00:32:18 It's the dumbest thing. Or if I'll forget to do something, I'll be like, oh, I'm such an idiot. God, I suck. Da-da-da. And she's like, calm down. You forgot to put the envelope in the mail. You're fine. Well, it's worth noting, team.
Starting point is 00:32:31 They're very much in love. And we very much love Jared. I think about each other's fun. This is the first Valentine's Day that they've spent together as a married couple, which obviously this will be the first year they spend together as a married couple. Jared, we've been playing this game, Kinky Truth or Dare. Ashley typically is pulling out the sticks, but I'm going to pull them out this time. Love it.
Starting point is 00:32:53 The question that I want to ask you and Ashley, you both have to answer this now, is what is your ultimate role play fantasy? Now, when I say this, please don't jump to conclusions that this has to. to be sexual. This is about your intimacy with your partner. What is your ultimate role play fantasy? I mean, the only thing I can think is sexual. Yeah, me too. You can jump.
Starting point is 00:33:18 Do we play cops and robbers in our spare time? Is that what you're asking? If you want to? I mean, I know what Jared says. He's not going to share it on the podcast. What do you think it is? I know what it is. I mean, you have a pretty good idea.
Starting point is 00:33:35 Does it have to do with any Boston sports team? No, no, it's more of like, uh, um, I have, like looked at, there's like some Patriots lingerie. No, I wouldn't find that sexy. Okay, see, I was like, see, I look at it. Separate the two. I was like, is he going to like this? Like, is he going to even want me to spend $100 on this bra? Probably not.
Starting point is 00:33:56 No, I like Tom Brady's picture. Like, I love Tom Brady, but not. in that way. I would say, yeah, I mean, obviously, as men like, I am a big fan of lingerie, big supporter, but for, like, I guess more of just like a fantasy is more of, um, yeah, I mean, just, oh, you're going to say this. Yeah, you can't say it. No, you can't say it.
Starting point is 00:34:21 You guys can probably get an idea. I don't think I have any idea. Do you want to give us anything? Like, what is some fantasy that you have in your relationship with Ashley? kids a bigger house oh well that obviously begin a family a bigger house buying buying a house owning property would be a big goal of ours that's a great i've never owned property so i really would like to own it actually what's your uh ultimate fantasy with your relationship with jared yeah what's your
Starting point is 00:34:48 ultimate fantasy with me babe i was gonna say a fantasy would have would be to have more closet space some an easy fantasy really you have all the closet space if this listeners if this interview has not summed up a marriage a marriage i don't know what else would i don't know if we're going to get an answer out of ashley ashly you're going to give us an answer no you're not going to give us an answer a fantasy a fantasy of okay fine i have a fantasy okay a fantasy that jared like grabs me on the couch and embraces me tightly every night that is a great fantasy i think that's very very sweet and every night you know sometimes you just want to you want to lean on your side and get a nice rest.
Starting point is 00:35:31 Honestly, on the couch. Once a week where Jared leans towards me on the couch would be a fantasy. I lean towards you. Once asked. Never again. Jared,
Starting point is 00:35:41 are you going to have that couch alone? Jared, I want to talk about her closet fantasy. We have six closets. You have four dedicated to your clothes. You only have yours filled. You still have so much blank space in there? You can use some of mine.
Starting point is 00:35:53 I don't want to. I like it all organized the way it is. I don't want you using my closet either. Hey, Jared. Thanks for coming up. podcast. Ashley, thank you for sharing your husband with us. Jared, we love you. We thank you. Please
Starting point is 00:36:05 come back soon. Is our interview with Jess later going to be like this or it's still going to be like that first year in? Oh, you guys are probably just still giggling while folding laundry stage. Yeah, we're definitely giggling while folding laundry. Oh, I want to giggle while folding laundering. Get out of here.
Starting point is 00:36:21 Jared, get out of here. Go. I used to fold laundry and then you'd want to like pin me up against the wall. No, that was fun times, but you should definitely listen to Help I Suck at Dating and I have a radio podcast with Dean Ungler and myself. We talk about all things dating. It's great. It's wonderful.
Starting point is 00:36:33 You should also follow us on social media. We are at help I second dating. Where I post pictures of Dean's face. Where I post pictures of Dean's face. So you should totally check it out because I know you love Dean's face. Okay, bye, guys. My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly and now I'm seriously suspicious. Well, wait a minute, Sam.
Starting point is 00:36:50 Maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit. Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast. So we'll find out soon. This person writes, My boyfriend has been hanging out with his young professor a lot. He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her. Now, he's insisting we get to know each other, but I just want her gone. Now, hold up.
Starting point is 00:37:07 Isn't that against school policy? That sounds totally inappropriate. Well, according to this person, this is her boyfriend's former professor, and they're the same age. And it's even more likely that they're cheating. He insists there's nothing between them. I mean, do you believe him? Well, he's certainly trying to get this person to believe him because he now wants them both to meet. So, do we find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated with his boyfriend?
Starting point is 00:37:27 professor or not. To hear the explosive finale, listen to the OK Storytime podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. These are the coldest of cold cases, but everything is about to change. Every case that is a cold case that has DNA. Right now in a backlog will be identified in our lifetime. A small lab in Texas is cracking the code on DNA. Using new scientific tools, they're finding clues in evidence so tiny you might just miss it.
Starting point is 00:38:38 He never thought he was going to get caught, and I just looked at my computer screen. I was just like, ah, gotcha. My theory is that if you need to figure out that the stove is hot, go and touch it. Go and figure it out for yourself. Okay.

Listen to the Super Secret Bestie Club as a part of the Michael Tura Podcast Network available on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, sis, what if I could promise you you never had to listen to a condescending finance bro?
Starting point is 00:40:10 Tell you how to manage your money again. Welcome to Brown Ambition. This is the hard part when you pay down those credit cards. If you haven't gotten to the bottom of why you were racking up credit or turning to credit cards, you may just recreate the same problem a year from now. When you do feel like you are bleeding. from these high interest rates, I would start shopping for a debt consolidation loan, starting with your local credit union, shopping around online, looking for some online lenders because they tend to have fewer fees and be more affordable. Listen, I am not here to judge. It is so expensive
Starting point is 00:40:42 in these streets. I 100% can see how in just a few months you can have this much credit card debt and it weighs on you. It's really easy to just like stick your head in the sand. It's nice and dark in the sand. Even if it's scary, it's not going to go away just because you're a avoiding it and in fact it make it even worse for more judgment free money advice listen to brown ambition on the i heart radio app apple podcast or wherever you get your podcast we have caylin coming on to our podcast calen is one of our favorite people in the world she is the mother to pappy and the girlfriend to dean kaelan dean's not up here right now this is a couple's focused podcast. So I'm a little bit disappointed. Why isn't he here? Well, you know Dean. You know Dean very
Starting point is 00:41:29 well and you know how difficult Dean likes to be. So Dean decided when we first started dating that we won't do joint interviews. Yeah. I mean, if you guys remember, he didn't do it when we were at the IHeart Festival in September and he's still sticking to this role. Yeah, we had to do the newlywed game, but apart. So it's been eight months and still no joint interviews. What's the purpose to this? Mystery? Uh, Dean just likes to be different. And this is just one way to be different, I guess. I don't know. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:41:56 We have to talk about the fact that he's been wearing a wedding ring lately. Oh. So first he tried to, he first tried to fool me into saying that you guys got married while you were in Europe. And I still 50% believe that you did. I don't know if I'm allowed to talk about this. I don't know. Okay, but he is wearing a wedding band. Dina's wearing a wedding band.
Starting point is 00:42:20 Is this a symbol of his love? devotion commitment to you it could be i think it is and i think he wore it started wearing it after his injury because you just were there by his side nursing him taking care of him and i think it's really really cute i feel like that was such a defining moment in your relationship no i think i was just talking to jess about this actually um we had 40 days consecutively together like 45 days whereas before 45 consecutive days yeah and we were never part in those 40 45 days and so previously It was like, spend a week together, spend a week off, or two weeks together, two weeks off. And this kind of like forced us together for a long period of time.
Starting point is 00:43:00 And I was like, this could make or break us. Like, we haven't been together for this long. We both need our time apart. So how's this going to go? And it definitely brought us a lot closer. So I'm super, I mean, it sucks to say, like, he broke his leg. But it definitely did a good job in our relationship bringing us together. How are you and Dean doing now?
Starting point is 00:43:17 I mean, I know that's a very, like, general, like, really terrible question. Like, how are you doing? but you sit here now after 45 days together you have helped nurse him back to health he is wearing a ring I don't know if it's even worth us trying to get into never got tired of each other just how are you doing?
Starting point is 00:43:36 I think we're good I think we're the best we've ever been I think our relationship just continues to go stronger and stronger we just have this trust between each other and it's good I get annoyed with people very easily I wish that wasn't a trait that I had but I do and I need time alone.
Starting point is 00:43:52 But with him, I realized this when I was traveling with other people. I was like, he is one person that I spend time with. And I like, yeah, he gets on my nerves sometimes. But I don't really, I'm never like, God, I just need like a ton of time away from you. There are like little times here and there. But for the most part, like I can travel to this guy for forever and just be really happy and content with that.
Starting point is 00:44:11 That's one of the things that made me realize. It was like, oh, Jared and I can really, really be together because we just never get tired of each other. We never eat space from each other. yeah it's it's a cool thing for someone who's like we both get in order with each other or not each other like people we just like we're those type of people who need time alone me too I never thought I'd be able to have like well I thought I could have a husband but I'd be like oh my god I'll be craving my alone time and how is it going to be living with somebody who's
Starting point is 00:44:38 not a family member right and it wasn't weird at all that's great you just mentioned that dean is a little difficult sometimes keelan how has it been for you kind of processing through building your relationship with somebody that is like almost enjoys being difficult. He does enjoy being difficult. He does. He definitely does. And I was actually just talking about our dog was perfect before I left for Bali. I left for eight days.
Starting point is 00:45:04 And I came back and the dog is now a terror. And I blame it all in Dean. But I don't know. Dating him, it's a very unique relationship. And I don't think I could date anyone else after dating him just because I love the way he challenges me. I love his difficultness at times. It is frustrating, but I just love that it's not,
Starting point is 00:45:25 it's a very unpredictable relationship. I think unpredictability would be a good way to describe Dean. Dean, I would imagine, is a great partner to you, Kaelan. We want to learn a little bit more about your relationship. The very first question we have for any couple coming up here tonight is where is the very first place, where is the very first restaurant you ate at
Starting point is 00:45:44 together? Oh, I think the first restaurant we ate at together aside from Paradise. was in LAX one of those restaurants in there maybe after that I don't my first meal with Dean was also at LAX really that's so funny not by it today I was like why does that place feel meaningful I was like oh that's where I really met Dean for the first time yes we came back from Europe right after his accident and we're like that's where we sat that's where we had our first meal together outside of paradise that was like technically our first date that's incredible okay so we're also playing a game called kinky truth or dare.
Starting point is 00:46:17 Ashley has reached into the Popsicle funnel here and pulled out a popsicle that she's going to ask you. I'm shaking it now. You hear and kind of get an idea of what it is. Ashley, pull that out and ask one of the truths to Kailen for her to answer about her relationship with Dean Ungler.
Starting point is 00:46:33 This feels like the Elite Daily article I had about Lube yesterday. I had an interview about Lube yesterday and it was very awkward. I'll say that. So this is up that alley. I don't know. Who taught you the most about sex and how to please a partner?
Starting point is 00:46:52 You don't have to talk. Let's not make this just about sex. You can PGify it. Let's like say like who taught you the most about intimacy? Intimacy. Intimacy. Hmm. I think, okay, in my relationship with Dean, it's just, it is so we can be so honest.
Starting point is 00:47:07 We can be, I've never been fully myself and we were actually talking about this on our drive up. That in past relationships, they haven't. gone through the trials and tribulations or had hardships in their life like we have so we've had to hide that part of us so with dean i feel like i've just learned so much about myself in terms of intimacy in terms of everything that i'm he's just taught me a lot so dean as a person even with his difficulty has taught you incredible intimacy in all parts of your life kailen what have you taught dean you think um i always get asked and I always, I'm like, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:47:47 I know that I've learned so much from him, and I know he's learned from me, whether it be, we both have to live in patience for each other because we both are so different. But he's also, I feel like, opened up more with me, too. I don't know. How do you say no when he smiles? I can't.
Starting point is 00:48:03 It's so frustrating. Now I have a dog who gives me puppy eyes, but I also have Dean who gives like the best puppy eyes and he'll do something to make me mad or piss me off. And then I'm like, I forgive you because you're just so freaking handsome and cute. and you're so sweet that sucks doesn't it yes must be hard to be dean calum must be hard to be you too you're absolutely beautiful you're glowing
Starting point is 00:48:23 Caitlin thank you for coming on our podcast it means a lot for us for you to come up here speak with us about this relationship even though dean won't we appreciate you can come up or you're going to separate we'll see i don't know we'll see how we can drag him up here should we give her another popsicle stick you know what worried about the popsicle sticks i'm a little worried um We'll let you go for now. Get back downstairs, warm up a bit. Thank you for coming on the podcast.
Starting point is 00:48:49 Thank you so much. My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly, and now I'm seriously suspicious. Well, wait a minute, Sam. Now he's insisting we get to know each other, but I just want her.
Starting point is 00:49:14 gone. Now hold up, isn't that against school policy? That sounds totally inappropriate. Well, according to this person, this is her boyfriend's former professor, and they're the same age. And it's even more likely that they're cheating. He insists there's nothing between them. I mean, do you believe him? Well, he's certainly trying to get this person to believe him
Starting point is 00:49:30 because he now wants them both to meet. So, do we find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated with his professor or not? Listen to the Super Secret Bestie Club as a part of the Michael Thura podcast network available on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. My name is Ed. Everyone say, hello Ed. I'm from a very rural background myself. My dad is a farmer and my mom is a cousin. So, like, it's not like... What do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club? I know it sounds like the start of a bad joke,
Starting point is 00:51:29 but that really was my reality nine years ago. I just normally do straight stand-up, but this is a bit different. On stage stood a comedian with a story that no one expected to hear. Well, 22nd of July 2015, a 23-year-old man had killed his family. And then he came to my house. So what do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club? A new podcast called Wisecrack, where stand-up comedy and murder takes center stage. Available now.
Starting point is 00:52:08 Listen to Wisecrack on the IHeart Radio app, Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. What would you do if one bad decision forced you to choose between a maximum security prison or the most brutal boot camp designed to be hell on earth? Unfortunately for Mark Lombardo, this was the choice he faced. He said, you are a number, a New York State number, and we own you. Shock incarceration, also known as boot camps, are short-term, highly regimented correctional programs that mimic military basic training.
Starting point is 00:52:42 These programs aim to provide a shock of prison life, emphasizing strict discipline, physical training, hard labor, and rehabilitation programs. Mark had one chance to complete this program and had no idea of the hell awaiting him the next six months. The first night was so overwhelming, and you don't know who's next to you. And we didn't know what to expect in the morning. Nobody tells you anything. Listen to shock incarceration on the eye.
Starting point is 00:53:08 Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. We just talked to Kalyn, which is the half of this Unglert-Kailen relationship that we... That we so... Well, nobody knows, you know... Is Kaylin's last name, Unglert now? Maybe it's Millert. Miller plus... Well, we hinted out it earlier. Dean, you said it's the only reason you're up here. It's not the only reason you're up here, but we'll get it out of the way, just right off the top. You have a ring on your finger. What does it represent and why is it there? He just updated it, by the way. He got a new ring. Like, this is something that he's really planning on having on his finger for a while. I mean, yeah, I got my finger measured and bought this nice black ring. I don't, I appreciate you guys asking the question, right? Yeah, you wear on your left hand. Yes. I wear it on my left ring finger. I appreciate it. I appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:54:08 that question. I love that you guys are interested in me and my girlfriend's life. I don't think I'm the one that can answer this question for you guys, though. I think it's she's the one that has to answer this. She said that she couldn't answer it. She said she wasn't allowed. I'm not allowed to answer this. I think she's the one that's... This is just been big publicity
Starting point is 00:54:27 play. Here's the problem of this whole thing right now. Is I get what Dean's doing. He's a very smart man. He is he knows what he's setting us up for here. Because they will never do an interview together, she's going to blame it on him. He's going to blame on her and they'll never get him the same darn room to ask them both at the same time to say, what is this whole thing about?
Starting point is 00:54:49 Did she really say that? She wasn't allowed to answer. Yeah. Okay. So you guys are creating it so that there's always a mystery around your relationship and that people never stop talking about you. That's crazy that she said that I wasn't allowed to answer because she's the one that has the answer to it. It's like, are you engaged? Are you like wearing the man engagement ring?
Starting point is 00:55:04 Listen, again, I really appreciate you guys being interested in this. But I can't answer it. She was, she's going to get upset with her. We're moving on here. Dean, we've been up here asking about relationships. Kailen, I'll just give it a hint. She explained your relationship as something that she's learned so much from you on. She's talked about that she could travel the world with you.
Starting point is 00:55:23 I think she said forever or a long time. Yeah, and never get tired of you. And never get tired of you. Dean, we asked her a question that I don't think she has a great answer to because I don't think she's the one that can answer it. Dean, what have you learned from Kailen? what have I learned from Kalyn? She didn't want to self-describe Ben. I get it.
Starting point is 00:55:42 I'm glad she did it. Oh, did you ask Kalen what I learned from her? Yeah, yeah. What have I learned from Kalen? I think I've learned that it's totally okay to be exactly the person that you want to be because she's someone that celebrates the weird quirkiness that I consistently possess. And I feel like in past relationships, I've always kind of hid that a little bit. But with Kalin, both of us, in my opinion, are able to be
Starting point is 00:56:05 super, super goofy all the time. And for the first time in a relationship for me, I've been able to like, it's like celebrated, you know what I mean? Because I've always been like a really weird guy, at least self-described as one. But in relationships, I feel like I always had,
Starting point is 00:56:17 I had like certain parts of me. And in this one, I feel like I don't have to. So that's, uh, that's what I've learned from her that I can be exactly who I am and not have to worry about being judged or, uh,
Starting point is 00:56:29 criticized. Why is it when people bring up the longevity of a relationship? You get so weary or like, awkward or unsure like i feel like you're never the guy that is like wants to say that he can see himself with so-and-so in look at him getting awkward in like a decade what do you mean i don't understand the question i feel like you always get like i feel like you'll never be able will you ever be comfortable saying that you're down to commit to somebody for a lifetime um i mean let's be honest a lifetime that's there's a lot of variables that go into what a
Starting point is 00:56:59 lifetime is like are you a guy that sees himself married see like look at the way he spends every question i'm just saying who are we to say what the rest of our lives are going to look like let's phrase this question in a dean way okay please uh we spoke with dean a few months ago and he said something that stuck with me that i'm very happy about because i do love this man he said and i don't want to put words in your mouth so dean please correct me is that he has envisioned longer lasting relationships more now than he probably did two years ago three years ago that the progression of his romantic life has increased to where it's opened his eyes up to new possibilities that three years ago you never thought you would feel. And is that something you learned because of the
Starting point is 00:57:39 Bachelor experience? It's hard to say no to that because everything that's happened after the Bachelor experience was because of the Bachelor experience in a way. You know what I mean? You could always trace it back to being on The Bachelor. I think that the biggest thing that's changed in my life has just been I love myself a lot more than I used to. And you always hear like these, you know, these hippie-dippy self-love type stuff. But the Dean from two years ago, that was fresh off of the first bachelor in paradise was like super anxious all the time insecure etc and now uh i still am like working on myself of course but i like i like the things that i'm doing now a lot more than i was doing then which was like back then i was like going to bars with my friends and getting
Starting point is 00:58:15 drunk but now i'm like doing the things that i want to like going out and exploring nature and taking pictures and skydiving and rock climbing and skiing all that kind of stuff so i think that because of the bachelor i've been able to do those things and because of those things i am the person that i am now when because sorry to tie this all back into the original question because I feel like I'm a lot more comfortable with who I am now, the longevity of relationships or all that kind of stuff seems to fit in my life a lot more. It makes a lot more sense for me now. How does Kailen fit into that then?
Starting point is 00:58:46 What do you mean in terms of like the things that I'm interested in doing for that? Yeah, like so your life has changed. You're exploring, which exploration typically is a pretty isolating event, which is great. It's a good thing. But there's adventures, there's skydiving these things that happening just for anybody out there listening. We see you on the road. We see you doing amazing things. But how does Kaelin now fit into that?
Starting point is 00:59:07 And is it, this is going to be a pretty harsh, aggressive question. I don't know any way to ask it. I have a harsh aggressive question next to. Is it, like, do you like having her there? Because those are fun things to do alone. Do you like having Kailen at these adventures? There are times where I will purposefully plan a trip by myself because I sometimes I like to use that time to, like, decompress.
Starting point is 00:59:31 and unwind and explore myself a little bit. But the great thing about her is she is curious. She is still learning a lot about herself while I continue to learn about myself. And so she's open to basically anything, right? Like, so say I want to go travel to this weird place. You'd be like, dude, I want to come with you. That sounds awesome. A lot of people aren't that way.
Starting point is 00:59:49 And so what's great about like her, the mode that she's in now is a self-discovery mode, which means she's like, I'm game for anything. For the most part, I've tried to get her to skydive. She doesn't skydive. That's cool, ma'am. But yeah, she's been super supportive a lot. Right, and you're right, it is a weird thing. Like, how does that fit in?
Starting point is 01:00:03 Because you and I have talked about, like, traveling to South America and stuff and how you did the Inca Trail and how isolated that was, but you, like, grew from it and learned from it. And some things you have to do alone, but sometimes it's nice to have, like, a partner with you to experience us together. That's great. I'm learning it myself. We'll talk about that later in the podcast, but I get where you're coming from. Being in a cabin with you guys, the three of us together reminds me of Winter Games. Your ex, Leslie, got engaged this week.
Starting point is 01:00:28 Any words? Congratulations. I know. That's the only word I've got. I think that's a great word. I think so too. What else are you going to say? Dean, we've been playing a game with our guests.
Starting point is 01:00:39 It's been great. Ashley and I've had a terrific time doing it. I'm going to ask you one question here, and then Ashley will take over a game that we call Kinky Truth or Dare. Wow. My game is just a question about your partner. Sure. So answer this about Caitlin.
Starting point is 01:00:55 What is her favorite purchase that she's made this year? Well, her name is Caitlin first and foremost. Kaylin. Did I say Caitlin? Yeah. I think I met Kaylin. No, I know you did. I know.
Starting point is 01:01:03 Yeah. It's a strange name. The favorite purchase that she's made? Yes, she's made this year. Oh, that's a really difficult question. The year's young. So let me just think back a couple months. As you think about this, Ashley's going to reach into our kinky truth or dare and just
Starting point is 01:01:20 pulling out. Ashley, hold on to that until Dean answers. Is this the clean one in here? There's cleaner. Yeah, we've pulled out those. The cleaner ones in here. Oh, man. her favorite thing that she's purchased.
Starting point is 01:01:31 I want to say, I'm going to go a little bit before 2020. I'm going to say a plane ticket to Europe to spend time with me while I recovered. Oh, that's awesome. I don't want to speak for her. I don't want to put words in her mouth. But I know that she really wanted to be there for me. And I think that that's really like the only big purchase that she's made that I can think of in the past couple months.
Starting point is 01:01:49 I remember the last time we asked a question like that at the IHeart Festival. That was the thing that she said about you. It was like that you guys had sports on airline tickets. Yeah, that's kind of our thing is we like to travel together, you know, and hopefully we can continue to do that. I do say as a friend, that was, and let's give an ode to Kalin here is when you got hurt. Yeah. That was a very big topic around kind of the, it felt like everywhere. And she has, I mean, can we just, can I speak for you or how has she been as your nurse?
Starting point is 01:02:21 He was so cute to see her just like jet off the next day or two. I mean, not to discredit her. She was already kind of planning on coming to Europe. But listen, don't get me wrong. The fact that she stuck with me in Europe throughout the entire thing and changed her plans, when I got back from that, when I arrived back in America through it after my accident, I was reflecting on it a little bit.
Starting point is 01:02:41 And I was like, that experience really, really sucked. But it sucked a lot less because Kailen was with me. And I was trying to imagine going through all that without having her by my side to, you know, do like ridiculous things. Like basically it helped me put my socks on, help me get out of bed so I could walk over to the bathroom, like that kind of ridiculous stuff. like the really really non-glamorous stuff and she definitely made that whole experience a lot less
Starting point is 01:03:01 miserable than it could have been so that's cool yeah and that's when you decided to wear a ring uh sure okay what's the kinky truth or dare let's get that have you ever caught yourself turned on by something completely inappropriate absolutely yeah give us an example uh i can't think of a specific example, but any boy that answers that question saying, no, is lying to you. I was going to say. A gust of wind. There is a time of my life that one of my best friends, he was my offensive line, he was the sinner when I was in high school and one football practice, he goes, dude, high
Starting point is 01:03:42 school sucks. I was like, why? He goes, there's just moments you just want to hump a wall. Yeah. When I was 19 or 20 or like right around that age, I was working as a bellhop at a hotel in Aspen. I was, you know, it's like a slow time of the season. So I was like reading a book at the bellhop stand.
Starting point is 01:03:56 And I was reading this book and there was like something happening in the book. And I was like, wow, this is getting hot. And I swear, I was just standing there and like things started happening to me like down below. And the thing is, I'm wearing like a bellhop uniform like slacks tucked in shirt so you can see everything that's happening. And like a car pulls up and I'm like, what am I supposed? Like I can't go help them right now. Like that, you know, so definitely happens. And that's a great question.
Starting point is 01:04:17 I love that. I think anybody out there listening. Can you answer this question? Oh, I just like. I just like. I mean, I think anything. any boy that doesn't say, yeah, like, there's been moments your life. You're like, I hope nobody ever finds out what my mind is thinking right now.
Starting point is 01:04:30 Because this, it feels weird for me and you. There's a tree over there that was looking good for whatever reason and something happened. It's messed up. That's a great question, Ashley. I think I will say, I'll admit, like, in the 90s, like, I feel like I was oddly turned on by like a cartoon or two. Sure. Oh, of course.
Starting point is 01:04:47 Ashley, you're not weird. Are anybody out there listening to this? Sorry, is like, yeah. Yeah, anybody out there listening to this has it. experienced weirdness in their life before. Dean, we love you. We thank you. Thank you for coming on the podcast. Get back downstairs. Warm up by the fire. Go grab the next guest. We're excited to talk to Jess. Bring her up, please. On it. My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly and now I'm seriously suspicious. Well, wait a minute, Sam. Maybe her boyfriend's just looking for
Starting point is 01:05:16 extra credit. Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the okay story time podcast. So we'll find out soon. This person writes, my boyfriend has been hanging out with his young professor a lot. He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her. Now he's insisting we get to know each other, but I just want her gone. Now hold up, isn't that against school policy? That sounds totally inappropriate. Well, according to this person, this is her boyfriend's former professor and they're the same age. It's even more likely that they're cheating. He insists there's nothing between them. I mean, do you believe him? Well, he's certainly trying to get this person to believe him because he now wants them both to meet. So, do we find out if this person's
Starting point is 01:05:51 boyfriend really cheated with his professor or not? On stage stood a comedian with a story that no one expected to hear.
Starting point is 01:06:57 On 22nd of July 2015, a 23-year-old man had killed his family. And then he came to my house. So what do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club? Starting point is 01:07:45 to credit cards you may just recreate the same problem a year from now when you do feel like You are bleeding from these high interest rates. I would start shopping for a debt consolidation loan, starting with your local credit union, shopping around online, looking for some online lenders because they tend to have fewer fees and be more affordable. Listen, I am not here to judge. It is so expensive in these streets. I 100% can see how in just a few months you can have this much credit card debt when it weighs on you. It's really easy to just like stick your head in the sand.
Starting point is 01:08:16 It's nice and dark in the sand. Even if it's scary, it's not going to go away. just because you're avoiding it, and in fact, it may get even worse. Starting point is 01:10:44 all right jessica clark is in the room hello she's great isn't she you guys are so cute like the love is so fresh and like you look at each other so adoringly still when do you think that'll go away i hope never that's what we all say actually when do you think it's going to go away probably soon no i think that because jair and i got engaged so fast that like i think her honeymoon phase was over fast also because we knew each other for three years before we were together I think our honeymoon phase left a little quicker than normal because like how do you keep a spark when you've known somebody for so long I mean you do you find ways but like the look that you guys have I agree do you ever actually think or wish that you would have waited longer to
Starting point is 01:11:37 get engaged no okay what about married no not married I think we could have waited to get engaged like another six months. I don't wish for it, but like we could have done it for sure. But then it would have kind of thrown off our wedding timing because, you know, you usually get engaged and then like you have a year to plan your wedding. I think that's like average these days. And if we had gotten engaged in December, then we'd have to really turn around the summer wedding. And I really wanted a summer wedding. Do you guys know what season you want your future possible wedding to be in? And like how often did we talk about marriage? Like, is that weird for me to bring up? Or have you talked about weird?
Starting point is 01:12:13 have you talked about it we talk about it um so we'd have to get married in a certain time frame because of my little brother yeah explain this this is a funny one he's a baseball player he's a baseball player so he's only off november to february oh damn and he's got to be involved i have two brothers that's a cold season yeah i will i wouldn't mind like christmas okay i love christmas i was told this and i was like you gotta be kidding me we're planning this big day around your little brother and she's like yep it's important and i was like all right and i'm not kidding as soon as jessica and i started to get really serious and her family you know started to understand that like this was a long-term thing i was laughing because i got multiple texts from multiple people in her
Starting point is 01:12:56 family going you know there's a tight timeline for you guys to get married you know you got to be joking you're an only child you don't you don't have brothers so it's like your brothers they're vital philip philip philip it's all about philip but it is philip's world we just kind of live in it Not to look too far into the future, but how long do you guys think people should be engaged for? Like, what's an ideal engagement amount of time now that we're talking about, you know, weddings? I've heard six months. So there's multiple camps on this. Some people say that you should use the engagement period as the wedding planning period.
Starting point is 01:13:33 You shouldn't stay in it very long because if you get into it long and you're not planning a wedding, then you can be in limbo for a while. I have a different feeling than six months, mostly because I think as soon as you engage, you should start planning the wedding. Yeah. But I also think that we, like, I've seen so many people stress themselves out because their wedding is four months away, three months away, two months away. But that's what I just said. Like, you need, I feel like you need a year. You need, you should start planning it. But you should pick the place you want, the time you want, the location you want.
Starting point is 01:14:06 You should start prepping so that it's not like three months of just stress and like, chaos you start prepping right away but you give yourself the time to enjoy it yeah like it's a fun time and you'll never going to get that time back so why just jump into that next season like enjoy being asked about your wedding enjoy being like the still the couple that's engaged and like people want to know about like your friends and your family like you're engaged wins the wedding when are they like what's it going to be like because actually you're married now I imagine that it's a whole new type of exciting but there is a drop off a little bit from that like engagement period so we found the honeymoon was great for the drop
Starting point is 01:14:46 off to avoid the drop off because we went straight to the honeymoon and then we kind of like took a month to do very little work and we kind of eased our way out of it that was the best way of like not having that holy moly it's over now what feeling but it can happen that feeling can happen everybody a lot of people talk about i think it's also not putting too much pressure on the wedding and like I think I've been to enough weddings and been in enough weddings that I've realized that the wedding is for the people that attend and like you as a couple don't even really hardly remember it from what a lot of people have said but don't do that don't do that because I heard a lot of people say that too but jara and I feel completely different really we feel like we were completely engaged with each other the entire day like we made it about us and not the other people and that's what we that's the advice that we give to people we're like your guests are great show love to your guest but like don't sit there for five minutes with each person like a quick hello is fine spend that time with each other yeah i get that well and the cool part for jess and i and it will last us longer this honeymoon or like this super like fun exciting period i hope it lasts forever
Starting point is 01:15:57 i do and i know it's a wishful thought it's also because you guys are long distance i was gonna say a huge piece of this is we're long distance and it's been an amazing that's so fun there's been moments that it's terrible like when i'm doing something really fun or she's doing something really fun and we want to be together for it like there's moments like dang it wish i wish it was easier but for the most part there is something that i don't take for granted by walking around the corner when i haven't seen jess in two weeks and she shows up and she's there and i'm like you like it's just like this excitement and i and like i am enjoying this period too like even a couple days ago i was practicing for bachelor live on stage and i heard that
Starting point is 01:16:36 Jess was in my dressing room and I walked outside of stage and walked back to my dressing room and there she was right when I opened up the door and I was like my like heart sink like I was just like yeah like you know and I'm like I don't ever want to take this away like and I know once you spend day after day like you were just saying with Jared yeah you wake up morning after morning you sit there night after night you eat lunch you get you do all these things together I know that leaves it has to yeah and I this is advice that I always tell couples that don't live together so we didn't I was like not down to live together until we were engaged. but we were only together for six months or not even by the time we got engaged we yeah by the time we moved in I think we were together for four some months but what I miss so much is that period where we didn't live together and I'd hear his steps walking up to my door
Starting point is 01:17:23 and my heart would sink every time and it's so fun and then you like light candles and you make dinner and you shower beforehand and you put makeup on just like that extra effort where you feel like you're really dating that goes away when you live together because it's not a novelty to see them. Well, it also, like, takes an extra effort.
Starting point is 01:17:43 Like, I feel like you could recreate it every once in a while. I do recreate it every once in a while. Yes, it just, you have to put in the effort, so it's not the same, like, feeling of, like, your heart drops to your toes sort of a deal, but you can still, it just is a whole different way of doing the relationship, I guess. Yeah. But I have friends that have done long distance all through dating, and then they get married, and they're, like, it's actually awesome to be sitting on the couch and look, and
Starting point is 01:18:06 they're there instead of y'all being however many miles apart when you get to a certain point i'm just totally sure but it does go away all right well i picked a popsicle stick before you came up here jess and the question was when did you know that you're really into ben what was the moment i think well after our first phone call i hung up the phone and i was on my parents house and i looked at my brother and I was like, I'm either going to date this guy or never ever meet this guy. And like, I kind of knew, even though when we hung up the first time, Ben was like, I'll get a good friend out of this at least. I was like, Bill, might not ever hear from again. That's what you said to her. Yeah. I was like, well, if we're saying comes to worse, like, it's really nice talking to you.
Starting point is 01:18:50 If, if all this fails, I'll get a good friend out of it. Oh, my goodness. But I will say the time where I was like, I'm in big trouble was after our first day together. We were talking about this today um we he had an event that morning and so we didn't really get that much time together and then we went to a late lunch that lasted three hours at this restaurant in evergreen colorado we we went there for our one year too but um after i left that lunch and just the idea like there's this feeling if i could tell him anything and he wouldn't judge me and i never really had that with a guy before and like we just sat and talked and talked and talked and i think i left that lunch and i was like oh no and then i remember calling my mom from the airport flying home from denver after the first time
Starting point is 01:19:33 and being like he's my boyfriend and um i don't think we'll ever break up oh my god that's so freaking cute did you say you're my girlfriend when you dropped her off of the airport i don't think i've ever said this yet so uh no before that we had talked in the phone and face time for three weeks she showed up to my house and uh she was your girlfriend before you kissed i no i opened up the door and there she was. I walked out and I kissed her right away. You did tell us this. She comes inside.
Starting point is 01:20:01 She sits on my couch with me and we're laying on my couch, just kind of talking and catching up and like just kind of holding each other. And I was like, you know, Jess, like, I would love for you to just be my girlfriend. Oh my goodness gracious. And at the time, I just knew it. Like, it's weird. I've said this on the podcast before, but my dad once when I asked him, like, how do you know when you found the one? He's like, I don't know if you can explain it.
Starting point is 01:20:25 When you know, you know, you know. it's a feeling it's a and it's a emotion it's a commitment it's looking across the table at somebody and going through your ups and downs to your failures and faults like i just know i want to be beside you and it was like that first moment and really weeks leading up to that over the phone with her that was like this girl just has something about her that i want to always support like she just has a purity of soul a purity of heart a desire to love people a desire to love me support me that like why would I ever want to give that up? Wouldn't you say I love you first?
Starting point is 01:21:00 I said it first. She did? I thought he was going to say it first. So I kept waiting and waiting and I told everyone else except for him that I was in love with him. And then he was in Nashville for his 30th birthday and my brother's 21st birthday, Philip again. We did a joint party.
Starting point is 01:21:19 Yeah, we did a joint party. We did a joint party for Philip and myself because our birthdays are like a day apart. And at one point this year, Philip's like, did you ever, you came to my birthday party, right? And I was like, cool, Philip. That was a joint birthday party for the world of us. It was a big one. Yeah. Yeah, it was a big one.
Starting point is 01:21:34 Anyways. But we were staying in my parents' house that weekend. Ben was staying in Phillips' room and I was staying in my old bedroom. And we were saying good night and we kissed good night. And I was like, I got to tell you something. He was like, what? You're so scared. I was like, I love you.
Starting point is 01:21:51 And that was it. And I said, I love you too. It's so cute, guys. And now we sit here today. Ashley, should we play like two cards? Let's play the one card game with Jess before you send you back off. Jess, it's been nice having you up here. You're good guest.
Starting point is 01:22:08 Thanks for having me. Okay, you're going to answer the question for each other. Like, I'm going to ask you the question, Jess, and then you're going to be like Ben would say this. Okay. If Ben could have an unlimited supply of one thing for the rest of his life, excluding money, what would it be? I don't exactly what this would be. Oh, gosh.
Starting point is 01:22:27 This is such an easy question. Is it like any category? Anything other than money. Yeah. Bourbon. No. Ben. What's the answer?
Starting point is 01:22:40 Massages. Oh. Well, is that why you're such a good masseuse? Oh, yeah. It's because I love them so much. And I will take them. This is something that Jess and I have had to work through in our relationship. I would take a massage from anyone if they're willing to.
Starting point is 01:22:53 And it's like, Like there's nothing. I was going to say, is it weird if I ask him for a massage because it is. No, it is. No, it's not. This is the thing.
Starting point is 01:23:00 So I don't like massages. Like, I don't enjoy them. Oh my God. Jess, you are with Ben, the best masseuse I've ever had, including professionals.
Starting point is 01:23:09 And you don't want to be touched by him, like in a massage way? Not. I just don't like, I mean, if Ben did, I wouldn't care, but I'm not going to land on a table.
Starting point is 01:23:17 She doesn't desire it. So why would I, like, it's not something she wants from me. Yeah. But I know he likes it. And so like, my thing is I'll always get you a massage like always because I know how much you love it
Starting point is 01:23:28 and so that's like my go-to gift for him is a massage do you give it to him or do you book one for him I usually book it since we do distance but if we're together I'll rub your neck sure my neck Jared's not so into them either like I will be like baby you want me to massage you and he's like what if you want to I'm like if I want like I's like no I don't need my hands to feel like sore well and it's like one of my love language is like I love coming behind my buddies or like you ash at the studio and just like grabbing your shoulders and like rubbing your neck like because my granddad that was his thing my granddad he was a car dealer but like i always notice how with people his friends and his family he would always come up to you and
Starting point is 01:24:08 he would just grab your neck and you just rub your neck and say how you doing and he would just lightly do it and it was like something that stuck with me and it was it's a very cool moment i think um but she doesn't desire them she's also so tiny that like for me to get a massage like I need deep. Like I need somebody like get in there. So she's sweet and she buys me them. I would say for Jess, my answer would be facials or anything to do with the skin.
Starting point is 01:24:33 So like skin products and facials if she could. She has insanely good skin. Yeah. She really likes to take care of her skin. Yeah. Well, I had really bad acne for a long period of time. Girl, me too. So that's why I'm obsessed with skincare as well.
Starting point is 01:24:44 Exactly. Because mine was so bad. I don't want to go back. And now it's like kind of fascinates me that like what you can do. do to help better it. Yep. And actually seeing visible results. But I think a lot of people who had had acne struggles are like that.
Starting point is 01:24:59 Can I do one more question? Yeah, one more question we're going to add here. Okay. Okay, I'm just going to go with the one here that's kind of fun. If Ben had to eat a spoonful of his favorite condiment, what condiment would that be? I know this one too. There's two answers here that I love condiments. I would both consider right.
Starting point is 01:25:16 They're my favorite food. ketchup and ranch. Nope, neither. What? Radish and mustard. Have you talked to a lawn about horseradish? Yeah. You know that he has a passion for it.
Starting point is 01:25:26 I have a little secret going on with the lawn right now when it comes to horse radish. I always forget that you like horseradish because you can't eat shellfish. And I associate horse radish with shrimp. Yeah. And then mustard. I love yellow mustard. I would eat yellow mustard on chips. Like I do. I put yellow mustard in a bowl with cheese and pepper and I'll eat it with tortilla chips.
Starting point is 01:25:44 And I think it's fan frieckintastic. That sounds pretty good. I've never seen you do that. Well, I love fries sauce. Do you do that when I'm not around? I hide it. So for Jess, it would be, oh, this is a tough one because she's a light salad dressing girl. I would say that I'm going to throw it out there and I know she loves her hot dogs and she loves ketchup on her hot dogs.
Starting point is 01:26:14 That's true. Yeah, so it's got to be ketchup. Nice. Jess, you've been a great guest. You've been a great guest. I love you, kid. I love you. I love you, love you, I love you.
