Starting point is 00:02:27 We're back on the almost famous podcast. with another recap of The Real Housewives of Rhode Island. Lauren, things are starting to go off the rails, literally and figuratively this week. And I don't know about you, but the end of this episode is giving me whiplash. I actually think maybe the first like four episodes have given me a little whiplash. I've tried to keep up. And I think I'm keeping up. It comes out of nowhere, right?
Starting point is 00:02:54 You're like, wait, I don't even know what we're fighting about because it's like that, you know? this episode starts out like very different than most it's very um the first word that's coming to my mind is like wholesome it's nice it's uh they're enjoying each other's time they're breaking down things that have happened in the past let's start with the beginning uh joelan really isn't a part of this episode and i think we're only shown that she's packing for our work trip because the show is trying to set the stage that she will not be a part of these activities this week yeah i'm kind of surprised. They were like, oh yeah, we'll film without Joellen, like, the real shiester, or maybe it'll give us an opportunity to talk about some of the other girls. And we need to
Starting point is 00:03:37 like get to the bottom of why Liz was so mad at Kelsey last week anyway. So I don't even know. Do you feel like we got clarity on that based on what we saw? I mean, I actually think it was a very normal conversation where Liz was like, hey, I overreacted. I'm embarrassed at how I reacted to you. and Kelsey, maybe your choice of wording was like, I don't know, we'd call it triggering or like it set something off inside of her. But she also admitted to over drinking. She's bummed with herself because the night was so good. It was pretty much everything we said last week.
Starting point is 00:04:14 Yeah. It was really nice to see because usually women especially, they'll be like, I wasn't drunk. I wasn't. But Liz was like, no, I was having a good time. and that was all alcohol, basically. And I love to see the accountability here. And then Kelsey gets into it kind of explaining, like, Dino is a triggering topic. Because I guess Kelsey hooked up with Dino in the past.
Starting point is 00:04:38 And then Dino became a little obsessed, a little stalkery. Yeah, a little weird on her, huh? A little weird on her. And it kind of all makes sense now because we've all, not we all, most ladies have hooked up with someone and you've gotten like the crazy ick from them. And you're like, I don't want to love. look at you. I don't want to hear from you. And you keep popping up in the fact that you're even in Liz's life freaks me out. So her trying to stir up shit is just basically another way to get
Starting point is 00:05:05 Dino out of her life and out of Liz's life. It all makes sense. Yeah. I mean, and the weird part about this and something that was illuminated once again to me was just how close this group is. She can't leave or separate from Dino. In fact, she said even after they hooked up, things were done, he would show up at the same place as she would and he was like controlling in the sense of he didn't want her talking to anybody else. He was kind of hovering around. It just feels like a very odd scenario. And obviously Liz was pointing to that during the last episode. I still don't have clarity on why it was such a hot topic for Kelsey other than the fact that she's pretty much saying, hey, that guy, like I don't want to even be around him. Like he's so weird to me that I don't want to be around
Starting point is 00:05:51 him. I guess from my perspective, and nobody, I mean, most housewives fans would not care about this. I'm sure I was shocked at one, how nice their boat was. And two, how much stuff she has in that boat.
Starting point is 00:06:07 Yeah. I'm also shocked that those two ladies are the only ones helping clean that thing out. Liz does seem to be one of those housewives that like fits the ultimate housewife like archetype being extremely rich.
Starting point is 00:06:21 Like we can tell by her house and her boat and her bags and everything. So they're selling the boat, why? Because he's not doing his... He's done. He's done. All right, so no more Dino. We don't have any use for Dino anymore because her husband will be home with her. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:35 Yeah, the cannabis queen. The cannabis industry must be doing well in Rhode Island. I know. In fact, do you know, Lauren? I mean, you're a lot closer to this. Are we watching this show? I mean, I think we've already commented. The money side of...
Starting point is 00:06:51 this is actually very fun to watch. Not everybody's super wealthy. You don't have, you know, it's relatable in a lot of ways. But is this mostly older new money? It appears to be new money. Yeah. I don't think there's any old money besides Kelsey's boyfriend who has old money. Yeah. Nothing's like been passed down from generation to generation. No, because you think about Rula, she makes her own money. Brian's a podiatrist. And then Joe Allen, like, if you go down the list, they're all like, you know, they're doing something. They're doing well, but it's new for sure. We get our first big scene of the episode with the girl's beach day.
Starting point is 00:07:30 Ashley chooses the beach that she loves to bring her boys to. Yeah. I'm like, why is this the beach for filming? I know there's only a couple beaches that would have allowed filming. So Ashley was like, hey, I got a great one. It's so tiny and there's absolutely no good water or anything. That's why she likes it because the boys won't try. drown in it.
Starting point is 00:07:52 Yeah. It's so, it's so funny. It's so Ashley not to be like embarrassed by shit like that. And then she shows up like, is she in a bathing suit then? Yeah, I guess she shows up.
Starting point is 00:08:03 Saying that everybody looked like Barbie and she looked like a mom who like kind of tried today. Kind of trying. Yeah. It's accurate. Lauren, you say Ashley isn't embarrassed by this. She's never embarrassed.
Starting point is 00:08:13 Period. Is that because she is aloof to the like concept? She's just like, no, this is a good beach. Or she's just like, no. I'm going to own this. This is what I do with my boys. And if you all want to come with me, great.
Starting point is 00:08:27 Like, what is her mindset? I think she thinks it's a good beach. I think she's like, well, it's quiet. We'll be able to hear each other. No one's going to drown. It's close to our homes. Like, I think she literally is thinking of the good things and doesn't think of how anyone else could possibly see this beach. I love that one of the, I forget which lady said it, but she's like, I have a beach club that
Starting point is 00:08:51 we can go to. They'll carry my bags in my chairs and set us up. And in my mind, I'm like, no, I want to see this. I want to see you all go to a beach that I could go to. I want to see you sit down there. They're eating pizza chips. This becomes a topic of conversation. I think it's a brilliant idea. You like pizza chips? I've never had one. I don't know how it tastes. But when it comes to a beach snack, it makes sense. You eliminate the cheese, and so you don't have to keep it cool, or you don't have to like figure out the whole cheese contaminants on it. And it's it's filling. Kids probably love it.
Starting point is 00:09:27 Is this your first time hearing of it? Yes, first time hearing of it. Okay. Okay. So my first time hearing of it too. And it's called, according to Ashley, pizza chips are also called party pizza in Rhode Island, where when you're having a party, it's already cold and there's no cheese. So you don't, it's always going to be fresh.
Starting point is 00:09:48 Yeah. But at the same time, then, it's always cold. Ashley, obviously, is not a fan. She says she doesn't like pizza without cheese. Yeah. So she gets the concept, but these things are like, you go to the grocery store in any Rhode Island grocery store, and they have a party pizza,
Starting point is 00:10:03 which is simply a cold, saucy piece of bread. That's all it is, right? That's all it is, yeah. Yeah. I mean, I've never heard of it. I'm glad we got exposed to it. Yeah. This episode really kicks off with these,
Starting point is 00:10:18 really relatable moments and their fun moments. Ashley's Beach, the pizza chips, those things. And then Rosie goes in to say, hey, let's do something even like more down to earth, which is jump on this like train ride that we pedal. And I am immediately excited because one, I know Ashley, riding a bike for six miles is not something that she's accustomed to. And I love the idea of it. I love the idea of all of these ladies, you know, diving in to get a little workout in.
Starting point is 00:10:53 Yeah. Well, according to Rosie, it's just so they don't kill each other because they're going to release end of the bike ride is really where all the drama happens. Actually, it happens on the cycle with Rosie and Liz when they're talking shit about Ashley kind of. I'm like, who could possibly talk shit about Ashley? Did you see that? I did see it. I mean, I don't even know. Ashley explained it well.
Starting point is 00:11:16 she's shy her. And so she's going to come off, standoff. She thinks everybody has this like idea of Ashley being, you know, she's a big deal, right? She's beautiful. She's confident. She doesn't get embarrassed. They've seen her on TV. They think she has this kind of like larger than life personality.
Starting point is 00:11:38 And when you spend time with Ashley, she is larger than life in so many ways. But her personality doesn't need to take over a room. And she is probably a little. more standoffish and shy out of no other reason other than her own like desire to get to know the situation before she steps into it. Yeah. And if you see
Starting point is 00:11:56 like the history, she's with the ladies, she's not going to jump in and just speak her mind because you see how much they flip a switch. Yeah. So yeah. And she says that she is scared of Liz. And I, Rosie does say to Liz like, oh, it's because you're successful and beautiful and blah, blah, blah. But it's
Starting point is 00:12:12 really because she's kind of just scary. Like she is very dominating and she has strong opinions. And that's kind of why Ashley's just like playing it safe. But then also, I think they flashed back to the Fourth of July party where Ashley hugged her and then looked away. But she's like, what do you say? Like, what's your next line? You say, hi, I'm Ashley. Blah, blah, blah. What is your next line at a party? Be like, so you live close to here? I guess, like, I don't know. I think it is, it's one of the things that Ashley is always comment on with me.
Starting point is 00:12:47 And I think it is because she doesn't, like the eye contact. She, you know, I just doesn't. And it's not, I, rude. And it's not because she is dismissive or pushing away. But all these women have such like this, I mean, even when they're fighting, they're staring each other in the eyes. That is not, I guess, I don't know many people who when they're arguing with me, where they're like able to look me dead in the eyes and make an argument,
Starting point is 00:13:19 it's usually like a very like nervous time. Totally. Yeah. It's not, she's not cold. I really didn't take it as them talking negatively about Ashley because it felt like they're trying to get to understand, like to understand her.
Starting point is 00:13:35 And as a result, it's coming off the way it is. Ashley does though in this scene kind of start to engage a little bit. She's confused at this whole thing because she's, She says that Brian isn't very hot. Like she doesn't understand what's happening here. Oh, yes. We're at the beach again.
Starting point is 00:13:52 We're at the beach. She's like during this whole thing, Ashley feels like she is entering in more than she is commentating on. Yes, yes, yes. And I was like, I'm so glad you said that because the audience is thinking, how is this man getting two women and he's not even that cute? So I thought that was funny. She spoke for the audience.
Starting point is 00:14:14 And then I think another favorite moment of Ashley's is when they go to Alicia's house. Actually, wait, hold on. After the beach, we go to Jo Ellen's house really quickly for like a little blurb to the show that her sister, Joellen's sister, is like taking over her role because she used to hook up with her husband, which is very bizarre. And then she makes like a comment being like she wanted his sperm or something. And I'm just thinking from like a sister standpoint, how weird it is to even consider taking your brother-in-law's sperm for your own, you know? Yeah, the kids would look very much alike.
Starting point is 00:14:55 I know. But then at the same time, I always think of this in the Patriot, you know, in the Patriot, when Mel Gibson ends up with his sister-in-law because his wife died. I'm like, but the closest person you could ever get if you don't have your wife is your wife's sister. So it would make sense, you know? Yeah. I mean, I actually think historically, too, if we throw it back to like 2,000 years ago, this is not a uncommon concept is, hey, you take care of the person. If I've lost my spouse, the closest person kind of brings them in.
Starting point is 00:15:25 My only question here for you, Lauren, is that's, you know, the whole thing with the sister being at Joellen's house, helping take care of the family while she was gone. You know, we've obviously had this kind of language used in the season before. when it comes to Liz and her husband and Dino coming in to help take care of his wife. Is this at all foreshadowing something to happen like with Joelle and her sister and the husband? I don't think that would ever happen. I think it's kind of like a fun, playful thing. But then deep in Joelle and sister, I don't remember her name, her mind.
Starting point is 00:16:05 I think she would say yes. And I think she would marry Joel's husband. But I don't think it's actually going to happen. and Joellen would obviously never allow it. But I think the sister kind of has a crush. And I think she has something to prove since Joellen did end up swooping in and stealing him in high school.
Starting point is 00:16:21 You know, so she has something to prove. And I don't think she's married or has kids. It doesn't sound like it. Yeah. I think they actually mention that they don't. Well, it is something to watch. Is that going to be a foreshadowing of the future? Is the sister going to engage?
Starting point is 00:16:38 Jen is the sister's name? Is Jen going to engage? in the family deeper than she already is. One of my favorite moments of this whole episode before we obviously get to the kind of climax of the episode where everybody's arguing with each other and it gets super funky is Alicia's house. I think it's such a fun part of the show.
Starting point is 00:16:59 It's the best. I love the mom and the aunt being so open and honest about their struggles and their marriage. It seems like everyone's been cheated on, affairs and Rula is getting some Rula and Alicia are both getting advice from these older women. And it feels like very comforting to me. It reminds me of going to like my grandma's house in New Jersey and like having all these women like giving you relationship advice when you're like 16 because they know so much better.
Starting point is 00:17:28 And then there's a moment where Alicia's mom says to Rula like, I just want you to hurt him. I want you to find a way to hurt him. And Ashley said she beat her pants, which is very unbrand for Ashley. But it was so funny because, yes, Rula needs to get back at him. Yeah. I mean, it kind of, this whole scene feels, honestly, I think the real housewise, what I'm watching is a lot of these scenes feel genuine, even the arguments that does not feel set up and stage. They're allowing conversations to exist to get to a place where everybody feels very comfortable. This feels like a very comfortable conversation.
Starting point is 00:18:06 It's also how I imagine, I've never been a part of these, what it's like. when a bunch of women get together of all different age groups to just chat for the day. It's amazing. It looked so fun. I wish I was there. Everyone was giving wars of wisdom. I think even Ashley was saying like, Alicia,
Starting point is 00:18:22 you've got to get your name on the house. It's like so important. And it's like real talk. It's not like fluff. And that's what I really liked about it. Let's pause here to talk about Ashley again for a second. Okay. Lauren is Ashley going to bring back some looks?
Starting point is 00:18:36 One is the pigtails. Two, she rocks a backwards hat at the end of this episode and kind of like tucks her hair into it. That's not something you see extremely often, I think, with women. Do you see these becoming trends? The backwards hats are iconic. She looked amazing.
Starting point is 00:18:56 So sexy. I loved it. I wear that all the time. I think she copied me. But the pigtails, I hope we never see again. Why is that? Tell me more. It's just like, I mean, she looks really good with every hairstyle,
Starting point is 00:19:07 but like we can do better than that. Yeah. Did she decide that? Yeah, she does that sometimes and it's not the best choice. The backwards hat's great though. Like don't you love a woman in a backward hat? Oh, she looked amazing. That's what I was like,
Starting point is 00:19:19 I could see this like being rocked more by like everybody if they're going on the beach or they're out with their kids. You know, it keeps the kids from pulling the hair. It's like it's a cool look. I thought she looked great. I think she will influence children with her big tails though. I think we'll see a lot more statistics creators
Starting point is 00:19:37 who are going to school of pigtails. Why does she do it? I don't, she thinks it's cute. I think it, like, makes her cheekbones look really nice to have it pulled back like that. Okay. Yeah. She obviously didn't have a hair girl that day. No, she didn't call up the sister before and listened well.
Starting point is 00:19:54 This is a incredible scene. It's funny. I love when the housewife so far have brought in the moms and the grandmas of some of these women to just because they're not yearly different. You can see how the woman became who they are. I sense a spin-off. I think that would be amazing. It would be so good.
Starting point is 00:20:20 The newest tracks. Let's go. New music. And the next big thing. Always on the new music first. Your first place to hear it all. Because you're going to like it, love, or want to play it twice.

Starting point is 00:20:57 There's two golden rules that any man should live by. Rule one, never mess with a country girl. You play stupid games, you get stupid prizes. And rule two, never mess with her friends either. We always say that trust your girlfriends. I'm Anna Sinfield, and in this new season of The Girlfriends, Oh my God, this is the same man. A group of women discover they've all dated the same prolific con artist.
Starting point is 00:21:25 I felt like I got hit by a truck. I thought, how could this happen to me? The cops didn't seem to care, so they take matters into their own hands. I said, oh, hell no. I vowed, I will be his last target. He's going to get what he deserves. Listen to the Girlfriends. Trust me, babe.
Starting point is 00:21:45 on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. What's up, everyone? I'm Ego Wode. My next guest, you know from Step Brothers Anchorman, Saturday Night Live, and the Big Money Players Network. It's Will Ferrell. My dad gave me the best advice ever. I went and had lunch with them one day, and I was like, and Dad, I think I want to really give this a shot.
Starting point is 00:22:16 I don't know what that means, but I just know. the groundlings, I'm working my way up through, and I know it's a place they come look for up and coming talent. He said, if it was based solely on talent, I wouldn't worry about you, which is really sweet. He goes, but there's so much luck involved. And he's like, just give it a shot. He goes, but if you ever reach a point where you're banging your head against the wall and it doesn't feel fun anymore, it's okay to quit. If you saw it written down, it would not be an inspiration. It would not be on a calendar of, you know, the cat. Just hang in there. Yeah, it would not be. Right. It wouldn't be that. There's a lot of luck.
Starting point is 00:22:55 Listen to Thanks Dad on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, I'm Nora Jones, and I love playing music with people so much that my podcast called Playing Along is back. I sit down with musicians from all musical styles to play songs together in an intimate setting. episode's a little different, but it all involves music and conversation with some of my favorite musicians. Over the past two seasons, I've had special guests like Dave Grohl, Leveh, Mavis Staples, Remy Wolf, Jeff Tweedy, really too many to name. And this season, I've sat down with Alessia Cara, Sarah McLaughlin, John Legend, and more. Check out my new episode with Josh Grobin. You related to the Phantom at that point. Yeah, I was definitely the Phantom in that.
Starting point is 00:23:40 That's so funny. each day with me, each night, each morning. Say you love me. You know I... So come hang out with us in the studio and listen to playing along on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. We'll go back to Ashley. Ashley brings Rosie to the Farm Day.
Starting point is 00:24:13 This feels like the setup, at least what I'm getting from this, is we're trying to figure out more about Rosie. Is she wanting to be a mom? What does her future look like? What is her future with her, you know, fiancé? Are they engaged? Rosie? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:28 They're married. They've been married for one year. Okay. Her husband look like. We are really getting, and I think it's probably because of the age, you know, Hayden and Dawson are making quite a few appearances during this show and standing out during them. We have them at the park last week with Joelle.
Starting point is 00:24:48 where it's hot outside and Dawson's just upset because it's hot. We see him at the farm. Rosie has been a close friend of Ashley's for a while now and knows her children well. Yeah. Do you think Ashley is trying to convince her, hey, kids are great? Or do you think she's kind of like, hey, take it or leave it? Yeah. I think at this point, I know Hayden was being, he had a really rough couple months.
Starting point is 00:25:15 And you can see here, he's like, you know, pulling on her earring. and like he's being very fussy. That phase, I don't know if she was pushing kids on anyone, but like Dawson was beyond that fussy phase. So like she knows it's worth it. Like once you get over that hump, like she will convince anyone to have kids now. Obviously, it's better than the ups are better than the downs.
Starting point is 00:25:36 Yeah. And so, yes, she would love for Rosie to have kids because, you know, we hear as women like our entire lives, like, you may not want them now, but once you turn 40 or something, you're going to wish you had them and you tried. So, like, she's definitely convincing her. But I don't know if seeing, like, their behavior.
Starting point is 00:25:53 Like, I know Rosie goes up at her house all the time, and we'll see the kids have meltdowns. And she leaves and she goes, I'm so glad I can leave this house. Yeah, she kind of says during the episode even. Oh, okay. So, so I don't know how, I think she'll probably have one, but I don't know.
Starting point is 00:26:11 Yeah. It's, you know, it's funny because Ashley is walking her through motherhood and talking through her. And, yeah, Hayden's pulling on the earrings. Yeah. And it's kind of been this, Ashley is carrying this young mom role. Yeah. Throughout this season so far, where we're getting a highlight of what it's like for her to be a mom, the difficulties of it.
Starting point is 00:26:33 What I want to see more of, though, because I know it exists, is the upsides to it that Ashley experienced. I know. She's kind of upset that they're not really showing a lot of the upsides. And it's more about, like, the woes of it all. Yeah, it's the story right now is it feels like she's just like this, that she's like so far in it that it's hard to find any space to breathe. But I know that Ashley loves being a mom. And I want to see that side as well. I know.
Starting point is 00:27:00 It's not as juicy to see that side, really. It's not. But it exists. It's totally. I mean, I'm, I talk to her 90% of the day. And like, it's always like, can you believe how cute this is? Can you believe? Can you believe this is so good.
Starting point is 00:27:12 It's rarely negative. And that was a, that last. summer was a moment that was very difficult. But now, like, there's zero complaints, really. So I do wish they would show. Maybe they will show. I don't know. I hope they do.
Starting point is 00:27:29 Because Ashley, as an advocate for people to have kids, also needs to show. Why? She's an advocate for people to have kids. So true. I know, I know. She's concerned. Let's flash to the rail explorers. As we mentioned, the ladies are going to go on this rail line.
Starting point is 00:27:46 And it looks like a lot of fun. It looks like a really cool concept and great idea. It is brilliant to get people to work out so that they don't kill each other. It doesn't work as we get to in a little bit. Because the wine comes out and then you kill each other all over again. The wild thing here is, and I'm almost upset with Ashley, that she entered into this conversation. Kelsey mentions that she ate the McDonald's cheeseburger out of the trash. And Ashley says that's something I would do.
Starting point is 00:28:13 Yes. And in my mind, I'm thinking, that's disgusting. No, it's 100% on brand. It's so weird to me, Lauren. Yeah. Ashley would eat something off the floor. Like she, one time I went to her house and I was like, what is there to eat in here? And she's like, oh, there's spaghetti.
Starting point is 00:28:32 I like, this is one of our hardest laughs ever. And if I explain it, it's not that funny. But I laugh, we were both just like puddles of pee. It's so funny because I was like, what is there to eat in here? And she goes, oh, there's spaghetti. I go, when did you make it? And then she goes, it's fairly fresh, fairly fresh. And I go, what the hell does that mean?
Starting point is 00:28:50 And then she goes, it's from Friday. And I was like, it's Thursday. Like, this is six-day-old spaghetti. She goes, it's fine. So like, but we laugh so hard because like it's literally not fairly fresh in the slightest. No. But she would eat out of a trash can. She is a raccoon.
Starting point is 00:29:05 She doesn't care. She doesn't care, huh? No. I just had lunch with a buddy last week. And it's ingrained in my head. I even say, anything to him because I was so disturbed. We did this like dive bar and we got burgers and fries.
Starting point is 00:29:19 And one of his fries dropped on the ground of this dive bar. And he just like, he took his time to pick it up and put it back in his mouth. And I was like, that's disgusting. Yeah. The opposite of what I would do. Yeah, I would not. No, it's a lot. So this kind of gave me a stomach like bug for them.
Starting point is 00:29:38 Do you know how she cuts up food for her kids? Mm-mm. She'll like, say she's eating. cutting up like a carrot or something she'll she'll bite it all into little chunks in her mouth and spit it onto their plate like a baby bird like a baby bird yeah and she'll make salads that way she's breaking up croutons she'll bite it and then spit it into the bowl for a human adult like so weird so she's not clean by any means so yeah that's where her and kelsey really bond because she's like ah something real because Kelsey's almost like too perfect to get a long way
Starting point is 00:30:13 Yeah. Like everything is very tailored. You know, she says like she's kind of more posh than Ashley. So when she heard that she ate out of the trash can, she was like, this is now my friend. Yeah, this, I, I, we can relate on something. One, you went to McDonald's, two, you ate it out of the trash can. We now see eye to eye in life. Yes.
Starting point is 00:30:36 The, the wild move here too. And maybe this is a real housewives thing. You can maybe explain it to me. we're getting a look inside these beautiful people in a way that I love when it comes to television. I don't want to just see the glitz and glamour. I want to see the real life. I want to see why they are the way they are.
Starting point is 00:30:54 And we start talking about Rosie and how she left work. And there's theories on if she left or she got fired. That's not important here. But she talks about suffering from colitis. And Ashley says in the back seat, she was bleeding from her butthole. and I'm like, this is why, this is amazing because, like, you would never watch this show and expect these beautiful people to be talking about eating burgers out of trash cans and bleeding from
Starting point is 00:31:25 their butt holes. I'm crying. I find it fantastic. Yeah, no, I love it. This whole scene, like, yeah, Collideus in general is obviously awful, but it is like, you know, it's poop talk. And these ladies are having poop talk. but Ashley says she's bleeding from her butthole because one time
Starting point is 00:31:42 when time Ashley had food poisoning and she was going to the bathroom like all day, all day, all day, all day. And then she comes into some room in my, I'm with my mom. And she goes, well, I'm bleeding from my butthole. And we laughed for like, what do you mean? And then like come to find out she actually just had her period. She wasn't actually bleeding from her butthole. So that's why that term, like that phrase is like very prominent in the Ike and any family.
Starting point is 00:32:06 So I'm bleeding from my butthole. I love it. Yeah. I want to see more of that. I want to see more of the hidden camera where these women get comfortable and they start talking about the things that all humans deal with, but so few talk about. Yeah. And I think it is amazing.
Starting point is 00:32:23 That's why everyone's loving this season. I really, they're really not hiding behind anything. There's no hide. And I hope it stays that way. Kelsey opens up a bottle of wine or a beer with her teeth. Incredible party trick. I think it is one that should be shown off more and more. And also very impressive.
Starting point is 00:32:43 The excursion is what it is. They ride on a train rail for six miles. It's beautiful. I would want to do it myself if I'm ever in the area. I think it's great. But this is where we get into the heart of the episode, Lauren. All the women sit around. They start drinking wine.
Starting point is 00:33:00 Everything that day, we should mention, feels very good in a lot of ways. Like, very friendly. Because Joe, Aon isn't there. Yeah, there's no drama. There's no poking at each other. It feels like they're experiencing some fun things together. But we sit down afterwards and things start to happen. I guess it all stems because Rosie asked Liz, how do you feel about Ashley?
Starting point is 00:33:26 Yeah. And then Liz was like, I don't really know her, essentially. She doesn't give me the time of day. She's scared of me. And then Rosie looks at Alicia. basically and said, right, Liz is scary. Alicia, you said this. And then Alicia loses her mind being like,
Starting point is 00:33:44 don't put words in my mouth. Da-na-na-na. Don't loses it. And I think she loses it simply because she's scared of Liz. If you really go back to the heart of the issue is Liz is a scary person and she wants to show her loyalty to Liz. Yeah. I mean, how do you feel about Rosie like bringing that up?
Starting point is 00:34:04 I felt like the intention was not to cause drama because it was done in front of everybody. It was a, it felt like one of those comments that, again, that we've seen on this show that you make, thinking it's going to be relatable and widely accepted, and then it turns into something you didn't intend it to turn into. I don't think she meant Liz being scary was, was anything more than, like, I think she thought Liz was aware of it, I guess. And it's like, hey, you're. scary Liz, like Alicia's even said it and she's your friend. And Alicia got very defensive. And it ended up blowing up to this argument where I said again, I'm impressed that they made eye contact the whole time. Alicia says that, you know, welcome to Rhode Island and this isn't like how we do things here. It kind of came out of nowhere. I think everyone was shocked. Even Liz was like,
Starting point is 00:35:00 what the hell is going on? And then I think Dolores looked at Alicia. I was like, Alicia, Liz isn't mad, so you don't need to act like this. Like, you don't need to defend yourself in front of Liz. And she's like, yeah, but you, you, if you come out of me, like, this is what you're going to get, la, la, la, la. And then I guess, um, I don't remember who asked who to go, like, talk privately. I think maybe Rosie was like, come over here and talk to me. They ended up hashing it out. I don't know how it came to a conclusion, but they hugged it out within five minutes.
Starting point is 00:35:29 And then, um, they were like, that's why they call her. I forgot they said, but Liz was like, and that's why they call her something Cici because she flip-flopper C-C-C or something because she gets really mad and then she makes up really quickly. I'm scared of Alicia now. So I'm scared of Liz and Alicia. And then the end they go one of my favorite parts. I loved Alicia's house, but I loved one. I think it was Dolores. She was like, Ash is going to need a bath and holy water after this because this is the most conflict she's ever seen in her entire life.
Starting point is 00:36:03 It kind of feels like every episode there has to be this moment. We should have expected it. Yeah. It kind of felt like Alicia was speaking from now. Was Rosie right or wrong and bring it up in front of everybody? I do think it was probably a misplaced comment that came off incorrectly to Alicia. She was probably at some level or has felt based on the conversation leading up to it and the days before it where everybody's like, hey, Alicia, you got to figure your stuff out. Like your husband is cutting you off.
Starting point is 00:36:31 it might feel like she could feel like she's being attacked in some way and it's kind of held in and this was her moment to say no stop this I think that's what I felt so smart that is exactly what happened because if you notice over the whole episode I think even when they're role playing
Starting point is 00:36:48 they make from Valisha for not knowing the word for all intensive purposes or some word like that and they make her feel stupid and the whole thing time it's like you're so stupid you're on the house you're not married the whole episode was tearing her down she was like i got a fight back somehow and rosy's an easy target yeah even if i mean i know i do this in my own life like i'm sensitive if i get the sense that over time somebody is
Starting point is 00:37:20 continuing to pick and prod even if they don't mean it that way i can take it that way hold it in and then i do explode when the moment feels like i can't take it any long longer, I do do that. And so I, I just felt like that's what was happening here. And also could be very misplaced, too. Like, like, if one of your coworkers is doing it and you come home, you'll let loose on your family. And you're like, I'm sorry, you're just an easy target right now. And I think that's probably what happened. Yeah. You is throwing it back. 20s, the decade. To the days of huge hits and unforgettable items, a nonstop stream of the biggest and best.
Starting point is 00:38:04 Drake, Rihanna, Beyonce, Katie Gaga, The Weekend. And more. All your decade defining favorites all in one place. Hi, it's Katie Perry. Hey, it's Bruno Mars. This is Keshe. Find 2010's The Decade on the free IHeart Radio app. Preset the station so it's always one tap away.
Starting point is 00:38:25 There's two golden rules that any man should live by. Rule one, never mess with a country girl. You play stupid games, you get stupid prizes. And Rule 2, never mess with her friends either. We always say that, trust your girlfriends. I'm Anna Sinfield, and in this new season of the girlfriends, Oh my God, this is the same man. A group of women discover they've all dated the same prolific con artist.
Starting point is 00:38:54 I felt like I got hit by a truck. I thought, how could this happen to me? The cops didn't seem to care. So they take matters into their own hands. I said, oh, hell no. I vowed I will be his last target. He's going to get what he deserves. Listen to the girlfriends.
Starting point is 00:39:13 Trust me, babe. On the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, everyone? I'm Ego Wodom. My next guest, you know from Step Brothers Anchorman, Saturday Night Live, and the Big Money Players Network.
Starting point is 00:39:33 It's Will Ferrell. Woo, woo, woo, woo. My dad gave me the best advice. ever. I went and had lunch with them one day and I was like and dad I think I want to really give this a shot. I don't know what that means, but I just know the groundlings. I'm working my way up through and I know it's a place they come look for up and coming talent. He said if it was based solely on talent, I wouldn't worry about you, which is really sweet. Yeah. He goes, but there's so much luck involved. And he's like, just give it a shot. He goes, but if you ever reach a point where you're banging your head against the wall and it doesn't feel fun anymore, it's okay to to quit. If you saw it written down, it would not be an inspiration. It would not be on a calendar of, you know, the cat, just hang in there. Yeah, it would not be. Right, it wouldn't be that. There's a lot of luck. Yeah. Listen to Thanks Dad on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Nora Jones, and I love playing music with people so much that my podcast
Starting point is 00:40:34 called Playing Along is back. I sit down with musicians from all musical styles to play songs together in an intimate setting. Every episode's a little different, but it all involves music and conversation with some of my favorite musicians. Over the past two seasons, I've had special guests like Dave Grohl, Leveh, Mavis Staples, Remy Wolf, Jeff Tweedy, really too many to name. And this season, I've sat down with Alessia Kara, Sarah McLaughlin, John Legend, and more. Check out my new episode with Josh Grobin. You related to the Phantom at that point. Yeah, I was definitely the phantom in that. That's so funny. Share each day with me each night, each morning.
Starting point is 00:41:19 Say you love me. You know I... So come hang out with us in the studio and listen to playing along on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Rula during this scene is kind of letting loose a little bit. We get to see more and more of Rula over this episode. And I appreciate that because she was kind of hidden for a while. And I do think her story is interesting.
Starting point is 00:41:49 We don't know a lot about it yet, but I do find her story very interesting when it comes to, you know, her past relationships, her current relationship, her relationship with her family, who she is as a friend to these women because, you know, she was communicated to us as a boss. And we don't really see her leadership during this season yet. But I think we're getting to see more and more about.
Starting point is 00:42:12 who she is. Now, Lauren, during this scene, we are one of the, I think, storylines that will continue throughout the season. We're going to talk about it here and just a bit in a little more detail on some things that have come out since the airing of these episodes is the Brian situation, who Brian is, what he's up to behind the scenes, who he is as a person. Obviously, we see Ashley comment that he isn't somebody that, or he is somebody that she's kind of surprised, has a mistress and a good-looking wife
Starting point is 00:42:41 because he's not that attractive himself. But Alicia starts to comment on Brian as well. Yeah, and Alicia gives us a little insight here, a little tea, that Brian's first wife was Alicia's Spanish teacher, and then Brian cheated on her with Rula. So it's kind of the case of you lose them as you got them or you got them as you lose them, whatever the term is. So it seems like Brian is a chronic cheater.
Starting point is 00:43:09 And then what's also come out while these episodes are airing is Brian's current mistress, last summer mistress, posted on her Instagram allegedly that she's the, she's allegedly still Brian's mistress, but that she's posting pictures in Rula's backyard. and kind of rubbing it in everyone's faces. And she is apparently and allegedly loving all this attention. Yeah, she's owning this, like, mistress is what we're hearing. And if it is true that she's posting from the backyard, she's not trying to hide this. And it doesn't really sound like, to me, from watching it, my opinion is that he's not really attempting to hide this either.
Starting point is 00:44:05 Right. He's just trying not to get caught, but not get caught doing it, just not take ownership for it. I mean, even in the last scene of the episode where he was being pressured to admit that it was over, he couldn't do it. So he just doesn't want to have a come to the surface, but he's not being very good about hiding it, especially if this alleged picture from his backyard is of the mistress. It's out there online right now. If you want to Google and find it, you can see it.
Starting point is 00:44:33 The situation gets weirder and weirder, and I think it is getting, it is sad, because it doesn't seem like Rula. Some of these women do seem okay with the behaviors of their husbands. Rula really doesn't seem okay with this. And yet she's put in this hard place of having to speak about it over and over and over again. It's going to be interesting. It's going to be very interesting to me how this plays out, Lauren, throughout the season. Like, where does this end and does it end?
Starting point is 00:45:02 We see the next episode. The ladies have a boat day. Kelsey says something to Rosie that she needs to support people. And Rosie says, because I didn't tag you on Instagram. So that's interesting. And also with Brian and Rula, I'm just going to say, I don't know how their marriage could make it past this season. I just don't see how it could happen,
Starting point is 00:45:23 especially with this mistress being so open about everything, it's yucky. It's probably, I mean, I would assume to with the airing and the popularity of this season, it will probably become more and more open, especially if she, as we're hearing, isn't hate. the title of mistress. And Brian doesn't want to have these conversations on camera, which continues to probably push Rula away from the camera. We see in the next episode that he asks her to leave with him.
Starting point is 00:45:49 He doesn't want to talk about this in front of the others or in front of any type of evidence that can be put out against him at some point is what it seems to me. My final thought, Lauren, these women have great memories. because if somebody didn't tag me in an Instagram post, and I felt like they should have, I would be upset at the time and forget about it 24 hours later, mostly not because I meant to, just because I would have forgotten about it
Starting point is 00:46:17 and probably forgotten why I was upset in the first place. These women are really good at remembering why they're upset and who they're upset with. It's a blessing and a curse to be a woman and remember everyone that's supposed to tag you. But we remember. I know. I know. She probably is looking at Rosie like being like, you knew my handle. Why didn't you say something? But I think next week looks great. Another juicy episode, another fight with Rosie. Poor Rosie. I hope she's doing okay. Because I know. Would you have expected this? You knew her before the season, Lauren. Would you have expected this character out of her? I don't know if I'm biased here. But I just don't think she's being that dramatic. I don't think she's being that polarizing. I think the women are just like, I think they're just using her as. a scapegoat to argue about something.
Starting point is 00:47:03 I don't know. Maybe because they're not as close with her, they can find it easier to argue with her, but I don't think she's that problematic. Is there any world here when it comes to the Housewives? I don't know. I'm asking that she's replaceable in a lot of ways as a character. And so the Housewives is okay with her kind of taking the brunt of the drama for a season or two.
Starting point is 00:47:27 Yeah. I mean, I wouldn't say she's replaceable. I think she brings a lot of the two groups together because there's an obvious like two groups forming. So I think she kind of is the bridge with the group. So I think she's kind of very valuable there. I wouldn't say she's like a classic housewife though. Like she was a reporter and she's just kind of a good dramatic girl, you know, but she's not like the classic housewife archetype.
Starting point is 00:47:53 Yeah. I will not say Rosie is replaceable though. Good. Well, I'm glad. Stand up for her. I just wonder. You're testing my loyalty as a woman. I mean, I just think so many of these ladies are huge characters.
Starting point is 00:48:09 And it feels like most shows I watch have the one person that's, in a sense, the scapegoat for the drama. Yeah. And then at some point, they're like, if she gets so mad at being a part of this show that she leaves, that's okay because she isn't the Liz. And she's not the this. Like, yeah. Yeah, she can get so mad at us. were okay testing those waters. I also think Rosie isn't afraid to stand up for herself.
Starting point is 00:48:34 So it's not like they would be in a fight with Ashley, who would be like, yeah, okay, you're, you know what, you're so right. Sure, good point. But Rosie will come back. And so that's why they can kind of attack her more. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. That does. Okay, well, we'll be back next week, breaking down another episode of the Real Housewives
Starting point is 00:48:54 of Rhode Island. And Lauren, any final thoughts on this episode or so far in the season? I mean, I don't know if this happens, but I would love to see Brian's mistress come into play. I would like to see her and try and defend herself because her advertising this all over the state and now country is wild. And I know she showed up to an event where all the housewives were a couple months back. And she had the balls to do that. So I guess I just want to see more from that. I do feel bad for a rule of that the most dramatic, juicy thing is like her life falling apart.
Starting point is 00:49:30 But I'd like to see more of that. And next week, it looks like a man is her on a boat. And that looks kind of interesting as well. There's so much to look forward to, Lauren. And I look forward to any week that I get to talk to you.
