This is the Ben and Ashley I, almost famous podcast with IHeartRadio.
It's almost famous podcast.
We are here with headlines.
There's not a lot of heads.
headlines this week. It's been a pretty quiet week in Bachelor Nation, but there are some big
headlines. Some big headlines that are focused around a similar topic. To start, we're going to
highlight Gil Ramirez, who you might remember him from the first episode of the Golden
Bachelorette. And here is the headline. The Golden Bachelorette contestant to have screen time
reduced after restraining order revealed. Another contesting going into the
The Bachelor franchise has a restraining order there has been one to obtain by people.
Ashley Gilramir, as I remember him, obviously from his picture, handsome man, did have a little
screen time in episode one, was not a main character, but this has all happened within the last
week. Ashley, tell us more. So yes, he didn't have a lot of screen time in the first episode,
nor will he be playing a big role in his episodes to come.
I don't, I think he gets eliminated early because the show has addressed this.
They said that they are not only does he play a limited role in the series,
but they will be cutting down his role even further.
What happened was the time between the background check that they do during casting
and him actually going to film the show is when this whole
incident happened
so he got the restraining order
in between the background shack being done
and him going to leave for filming so it's
truly slept
it slipped through a crack
his ex-girlfriend was
granted a temporary restraining order against him
on June 11th only a few
days before the series
began filming
a source close to the show
told people magazine that upon learning
about Ramirez's past the golden
bachelorette has
already edited his limited screen time.
The source also said that the restraining order was granted, like I said, in the brief period
between the completion of the background check and they still went through the exhaustive
vetting process with him.
But the girlfriend said that despite telling him not to contact her anymore or come to
her house, he still made repeated unwanted contact with her family members.
and friends.
There was 25 attempts to contact her in two weeks via phone, text, and video.
Although he lives an hour away from her, he still showed up at places that she frequented
to confront her on a daily basis.
You know, this situation, I guess, makes more sense to me.
Yeah, than the Devon situation.
The Devon situation we still have yet.
to have clarity on at all because the show really hasn't came out and said anything towards it.
And I think the reason is because the show realized, hey, we messed up and we tried to get away
with one here and it didn't work. Now, for this to happen between the time of filming and
when the restraining order or when the actual background check was done, it makes sense on how it
could slip through the cracks. I understand this. He was still a psycho. Yeah. I mean, I still don't
understand where and how they're vetting cast members at this point.
And I am, I guess, for the show to come out and say their cutting screen time is fair.
The odd part of this, Ashley, to me, would be that the show only came out and said they're
cutting screen time once this was brought to the public's attention, correct?
Yeah, but I also think that they probably didn't even know about this legal issue before it came
to the public's attention.
Do you know what I mean?
Like, I think they probably found out the same time
since they had been already completed their background check.
They probably didn't go back and check again.
What a wild week for them.
I know.
What a awful, awful week for them.
Yeah.
I mean, the fact that this Devon thing comes out,
and I know they felt the heat,
they felt the pressure,
what they did with the pressure and the heat,
I still don't know,
but they felt the heat,
they felt the pressure from the Devin situation.
They realized that they had to do something.
I don't know what they've done at this point.
And then probably two days later to come out and be like,
yeah, and a guy that's currently on your television screens
also has this, you know, a similar situation.
Probably made them go what in the world is happening.
Because I do agree with you.
They probably didn't know of the Gill situation because he isn't a main character.
I don't think he lasts very long.
They probably had him come and go and then kind of forgot, you know,
his name even totally i also just like worth mentioning it's like stupid but it's also worth mentioning
this guy was literally stalking this woman once he was already confirmed to be on the show
that's weird that's weird the whole thing's weird but also like if you're stalking someone at the
age of 60 something i feel like you must have some sort of sketchy pass as well not that any of it's
legal. I don't want to assume that he has, like, other legal issues that they didn't catch.
I'm just saying that, like, probably not a guy that you would think would be an appealing
option to cast, even if you didn't, I don't know, like, I guess people can keep their
creepiness secret for a while.
A foot washed up a shoe with some bones in it. They had no idea who it was.
Most everything was burned up pretty good from the fire.
that not a whole lot was salvageable.
These are the coldest of cold cases,
but everything is about to change.
Every case that is a cold case that has DNA.
Right now in a backlog will be identified in our lifetime.
A small lab in Texas is cracking the code on DNA.
Using new scientific tools,
they're finding clues in evidence so tiny you might just miss it.
He never thought he was going to get caught.
And I just looked at my computer screen.
And I was just like, ah, gotcha.

What would you do if one bad decision forced you to choose between a maximum security prison
or the most brutal boot camp designed to be hell on earth.
Unfortunately for Mark Lombardo, this was the choice he faced.
He said, you are a number, a New York State number, and we own you.
Shock incarceration, also known as boot camps, are short-term, highly regimented correctional programs
that mimic military basic training.
These programs aim to provide a shock of prison life, emphasizing strict discipline,
physical training, hard labor, and rehabilitation programs.
Mark had one chance to complete this program
and had no idea of the hell awaiting him the next six months.
The first night was so overwhelming, and you don't know who's next to you.
And we didn't know what to expect in the morning.
Nobody tells you anything.

The Super Secret Bestie Club Podcast Season 4 is here.

Terrible love advice.
Evil spells to cast on your ex.

Oh.
Well, this season, we're leveling up.
Each episode will feature a special bestie, and you're not going to want to miss it.
Get in here!
Today we have a very special guest with us.
Our new super secret bestie is the diva of the people.
The diva of the people.
I'm just like text your ex.
Okay.
My theory is that if you need to figure out,
that the stove is hot.
Go and touch it.
Go and figure it out for yourself.
Okay.
That's us.
That's us.
My name is Curley.
And I'm Maya.
In each episode, we'll talk about love, friendship, heart breaks, men, and, of course,
our favorite secrets.

My name is Ed.
Everyone say hello, Ed.
Hello, Ed.
From a very rural background myself, my dad is a farmer and my mom is a cousin.
So, like, it's not like...
What do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club?
I know it sounds like the start of a bad joke, but that really was my reality nine years ago.
I just normally do straight stand-up, but this is a bit different.
On stage stood a comedian with a story that no one expected to hear.
On 22nd of July 2015, a 23-year-old man had killed his family.
And then he came to my house.
So what do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club?

I'm Dr. Joy Hardin Bradford.
And in session 421 of therapy for black girls, I sit down with Dr. Athea and Billy Shaka
to explore how our hair connects to our identity, mental health, and the ways we heal.
Because I think hair is a complex language system, right?
In terms of it can tell how old you are, your marital status, where you're from, you're a spiritual belief.
But I think with social media, there's like a hyperfixation and observation of our hair, right?
That this is sometimes the first thing someone sees when we make a post,
or real.
It's how our hair is styled.
You talk about the important role
hairstylists play in our community,
the pressure to always look put together,
and how breaking up with perfection
can actually free us.
Plus, if you're someone who gets anxious about flying,

Speaking of keeping your creepiness secret for a while, Devin's apology about releasing Jen's
private text and statement on ex-girlfriend's restraining order. Now, we did cover this
in length on a separate episode. However, there has been new things come out. This is provided
by Red Banyan, the crisis communication firm that Devin has hired. So he recognized he was in crisis. He
recognized he was not doing any of this well on his own. However, he hires this firm. New stuff
comes out. This stuff is not good. It is in relation to a former friend of his and texts that
Devin sent this friend. I'm excited to not be talking about Devin any longer. And I'm hoping
we can stop because it feels like every day is a new Devin thing. And it just feels like every day
he continues to pretty much, I mean, his hole is as deep as it can get at this point.
Like he's dug a really deep hole and he just continues to want to like wallow in it, it feels like.
But anyways, Ashley, these texts have been released again by Red Banyan, the communications firm,
his kind of helping Devin try to clear his name, walk us through what these texts are and kind of just how, I mean,
read i'm reading them right now they're just awful okay so let's just talk about his so he released
the video in which he showed a whole bunch of screenshotsed texts some of which the first edition
of the video had some sexual stuff in there between him and jem he went to instagram to issue the
apology with the help supposedly of the crisis management PR firm and in a
which he said that the girlfriend who had the restraining order against him
actually ended up dropping it,
which we knew that that it was dropped.
But he says it was because they reconciled the relationship afterward.
Like, they started dating again.
That's in the apology.
Now, what happened is that reality Steve got a hold of a friend of this girl,
the one that he had, that sent out the restraining order.
And this is what the friend said.
In the spring of 2017,
Devin was issued a temporary restraining order
following multiple instances of abuse against my friend.
This year, he made the bizarre decision to appear on The Bachelorette
despite his well-documented history of violence.
After his troubling on-screen behavior,
the public uncovered his arrest record, including the restraining order.
Yesterday, Devin attempted to discredit in the said apology.
his ex-girlfriend and denied the existence of the restraining order despite clear public records to the contrary.
I refuse to stand by as he continues to malign someone I care about, especially after the pain he caused seven years ago.
In 2017, April, while repeatedly violating the restraining order, Devin made threats against his ex-girlfriend's friends and family.
I received disturbing messages from him filled with homophobic slurs and threats of violence.
His attempt to manipulate the narrative is exactly what he did in 2017,
while stalking his ex-girlfriend, burglarizing her home, burning the restraining order in front of her in her yard,
and slashing her tire, and intimidating her friends and family.
Devin's decision to go on national television has forced his victim to revisit a traumatic chapter in her life
in a public forum and I will
not allow his arrogance and
refusal to take responsibility
inflict harm on
someone I care about.
Devin is a dangerous individual
and a pathological liar.
So then Reality
Steve got a hold of the
actual, I'm assuming that this guy
or girl
who is sending
who has posted what I just read
sent Reality Steve
the actual receipt.
of what Devin said
and it says this
should I read it as I say
and we as it's said and we should
bleep things out? Sure.
Hey
guess who's getting
their fucking
licked? L-I-C-K
E-S
next time I see you.
Kicked. Sorry.
Don't want you getting confused.
See you sooner
than you think
what you?
Surprise someone
puts their
in that foul mouth of yours
keep my and out of that
bull especially when dealing with me
I think he meant name
keep my name out of that
asshole especially when dealing with me
educate yourself
this is in 2017
Ben is covering his mouth
it's like
it's just it's brutal
it's like hard for me to even hear
because like I
the only people that I've ever assumed talk this way are the robots on social media that are just like built to be mean like does that make sense like I've never heard a human like I don't know any humans in my life that would talk that way or if you have heard it you're like wow that's the most disgusting person I've ever I can't believe people like that exist and like you hear it like on a drunken college campus or something like that not that I have any personal I don't
I can't remember an instance where I heard stuff like that, but like,
it's just so hard to even, like, as you're reading it, I just don't, I can't, it's so hard to even, like, understand and compute.
Okay, so it's out there now, right?
This is there.
Devin has had now three weeks straight of controversy coming, and then him trying to cover up the controversy,
controversy and it being a really failed attempt and where like Ashley like what do we go from
here like what do what happens now are we just is it just like a write off like this is terrible
and like I'm so glad Jin's out of this relationship and like let's move on or like what happens
now I don't know I think we just hope that he never gets attention again what else would you
think what had happened
well I'm I guess there's two sides to it one would be
this was a really bad thing for him to
go on and for the show to let him on that is clear
like let's be clear about that he should have never been on this show
the show should never let him on the show
and what a dumb ass for signing up for the show
and the other hope is that like he
takes personal responsibility
and learns from these things that are coming out
and the reaction of the public being like what are you doing man
like this is like awful behavior like awful awful awful behavior so that he actually accepts it
and tries to grow and learn from it and he does that behind the scene somewhere and we probably
never hear about it or see it but he does it personally sure of course that's what we hope
and but there's no other like victims and people that he hurts in this process uh along the way
um you know this crisis management firm has been hired that typically is hired to get you
removed from it like moved on from it like clears your name from it
it. I don't think he needs his name cleared.
Like, I don't think that's the helpful thing for him.
It feels like he needs to sit in this and be like, hey, I need a adjustment.
Like, I need to do better.
And I guess the hope is that he takes that personally.
I don't know. Like, what do we do?
I don't know. All I would say is that, like, he's going to be going back to his normal job.
His normal job, he supposedly owns the company.
So I was going to say that the only crisis management, I can imagine him having,
to really get is
the fact that he was never
going to be able to get a job again after
this is out all over the internet
but if he owns his own company then like
it's like go back to your private life and get better
in private, learn in private
and you know
it just feels like one of those situations where if we don't
like you don't want to not talk about it
because it is headlines and Bachelor Nation
it is something that is obviously
very traumatizing for many
and it's something that many people are saying,
hey, yeah, but like let me get my voice out there
because he's covering this up
and this dude has definitely burnt some bridges along the way.
It just feels like with a Devin,
we could go on for the next two months
and talk about stuff that's going to probably be released
that he's done or said to people.
And that just feels unhealthy to me.
Like, I don't want to talk about it.
So do we not talk about it?
I don't know.
That was my question.
I don't know.
It's just, it's getting hard.
hard to yeah because we've already established that he's like a gross human or like yeah yeah yeah so
like why do we harp on it and like give it more attention yeah i don't i don't know if it's necessary
and if you're interested in it then like it's out there to consume but yeah but we don't need to
give it any more of our breath it's been the topic that's been most covered from gin season
since gen season some of that is warranted and i think some of that is healthy it feels like it's
no longer healthy.
Like, we just need to be like, dude, this is messed up.
But, like, Jen's season doesn't deserve to be marked because she was an incredible
bachelorette.
Like, we should be talking about her as an incredible bachelorette.
And so she, I'm sure she feels it, but I want her to know it.
And this just feels like it's a weird mark on this season.
I don't know what to do with this information any longer.
I guess is my point.
I sit here and I go, this is just, I'm tired of every week there being something new.
and maybe we should be talking about it.
And that's where we bring in you listeners.
Should we continue to talk about it?
Should this be something that week after week, when stuff comes out, do you want to hear about it?
Or is it just time for all of us to be like, hey, yeah, this, we've established this is bad and we move on?
I don't know.
That's my question.
Yeah.
And, you know, it's interesting is like looking back on his finale, I just called him a gross human.
And it's like, that takes a bit.
And I wouldn't ever call it.
I don't know. I felt
Icky. I felt gross
watching him on after the final
rows, but I wouldn't say
like he's a gross human
except for now
we have found out that he had a restraining order
that he violated and then he slashed
retires and then he burnt the restraining order in front of her
and then he called this person
all these names and yeah, so
now
it's a whole other
bulky.
Lots of headlines we have for this week.
Hopefully we get some up
lifting headlines next week.
That'd be good.
Come on, Bachelor Nation.
Let's do something good.
Let's do something cool.
