What do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club? Answer, a new podcast called Wisecrack, where a comedian finds himself at the center of a chilling true crime story. Does anyone know what show they've come to see? It's a story.

Listen to The Bright Side on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:02:35 This is the Ben and Ashley I, almost famous podcast with IHart Radio. Hey, I'm here to get us in the mood and kick us off because a new season of The Bachelor isn't really that soon yet. But it's coming and we got a promo, Ben, and we have Ashley here. Well, Ashley, so much you're talking about on this episode. Peter Weber's promo comes out. What do you think? Well, I think it's like very stereotypical at first. You know, the first half of the trailer is like the standard voiceover of girls
Starting point is 00:03:14 are like, oh my God, I can't believe this is happening to me. My heart is broken. I want to lick him up and down. And then we get to the good stuff because Hannah Brown, it looks like in the middle of the season comes in and tells Peter about her lingering feelings for him, possibly. And he is like, oh, Hannah Brown. And of course, the way they edit it makes it look like the girls are really annoyed to see her. It looks good.
Starting point is 00:03:45 It looks really good. But I also saw that little tease that Hannah comes out of the limo on night one. So does that mean at least two Hannah appearances? this season? I don't know. Let's see. I wonder now, well, first off, let's pause for a second, switch gears. Congratulations to Hannah Brown on winning dancing with the stars. She's crushing her right now, and actually, I've got to ask you, is it weird for somebody that feels like she has the credibility Hannah has right now?
Starting point is 00:04:16 And it's kind of living her best life, as we heard Carrie Ann and Armour say, to go back on to the show. Well, I mean, let's figure out the timeline of this. I'm thinking that Peter's premiere episode was filmed the last week of September, and that would have coincided with Hannah's first week or so of Dancing with the Stars. So she would have had no idea how far she was going to go. At that point, she could have been eliminated on Dancing with the Stars Week 1. Sure, I think that a lot of people are going to be like,
Starting point is 00:04:49 oh, hold yourself up to a higher standard, don't go back to. like somebody that you dumbs and go back on the show as a non-lead after you are a lead. I don't, who's, who's done that? Who's gone on the show after they've been a lead? Anyone? I don't remember.
Starting point is 00:05:09 I don't think anybody's come back as a contestant who was a lead. I mean, I did. I did on the, uh, winter games. That's the only time. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, damn.
Starting point is 00:05:20 Maybe that, maybe you are the, the only one. How did, did you get any flag for that? Did you get any flag for that? Not really. Not really because Winter Games was such a new experience. Nobody knew what it was. Like nobody had any idea on,
Starting point is 00:05:37 now I think it's different when you're going back onto the big show. You know, the one that matters. I don't know, I don't think it's bad. I remember when Nick Vile was on, was second on his season with Andy and then came back on the Caitlin season. And then people were saying, move on, you've had your chance. My thought is this. Who said we only are allowed one chance?
Starting point is 00:06:00 Or who said anybody going on. I agree with that. Go back if you feel it. If you get a chance in paradise and you get multiple chances in paradise, honestly, because so many people go back for second seasons there, that if you get second chances in paradise, why can't you have second chances on the big show? We thought Becca Tilly did that as well.
Starting point is 00:06:18 And I don't think anybody really frowned upon her for that, especially since watching you on Caitlin's season, I think she genuinely felt like something could work out between you guys based on what she knew about you. And possibly Hannah, after what she went through with Jed, is thinking that she really did make a mistake letting Peter go. Am I crazy here? Two thoughts here, Ashley.
Starting point is 00:06:45 One is, do I remember that Brad Wilmack tried to come back onto Jojo season? That wasn't Brad. that was Jake Palvaca. Oh, Brad. Yeah, Jake Pavalca. But remember, he didn't try. He was there because he was a family friend, and he was there for moral support as somebody that you could coach you for guidance.
Starting point is 00:07:05 But really, it was for the trailer. It was for all the great teases that get people hyped up to see Jake Palvaca come and beg to be part of the thing. But, you know, it never really turns out the way that it's alluded to in the trailers. Yeah, that's a good point. And then the second thought is, is this, did Tyler Cameron or Peter get second? I forget. Why am I blanking this?
Starting point is 00:07:31 Tyler got second. However, both Tyler and Peter were sent home in the same episode, which is why you're thinking that. Okay. So she's saying her feelings were Peter never wavered. She still has kind of this like underlying feelings. Go back at it because here's the thing. I know is. The chances that Peter ends up with somebody are fairly high after he's the bachelor.
Starting point is 00:07:57 So she's feeling like he could be the one and she wants to see it through. I can't hate her at all or hate on her at all for going back. I think I've said it a zillion times on this podcast. I'm a big proponent, especially when it comes to, well, when it comes to anything, but in this case, love, don't let there be any what-if because you should go through life with as little as possible so you know that you, like, are firm in each decision that you make. You know, just to explore everything to the fullest extent. Here's my concern, Ashley.
Starting point is 00:08:34 And I think that Peter's season of The Bachelor is going to be terrific. I've said that I think that I believe it. But I always have a little hesitancy. And hear me out here. When I see a promo that kind of throws in some curveballs like a Hannah Brown show up or like Jojo season when Jake Pavelka came up. I always think was the season not going to be interesting enough on its own that they had to throw in something like this to spark our interest? Was there not enough captivating footage in the season to make us want to watch? And I
Starting point is 00:09:08 think that's my concern watching this promo is, hey, it's just like every other promo. You really aren't getting a lot from it. There's never really any truth to it. It just gets us sucked in and gets as excited again. But when you see a Jake Pavelka come on the promo or a Hannah Brown, it makes me wonder, hey, did they have to do this just so we're interested? Okay, so I would say good point there. But if she really does come out of the limo on night one, that means that the whole season didn't even unfold yet, and they still want her there for that zinger on night one.
Starting point is 00:09:41 So you never know how a season's going to unfold, even if you know a little, bit about the cast personalities. So let's just go ahead and say Hannah is hot right now and they want what's hot to stick around on their show. Yeah, I get it. I get it. Well, hey, after watching the promo, my takeaway is this. Peter looks good. He shows emotion. He shows smiles. The women are obviously going to be drawn in. He feels like he's a great catch for any person. And so I think this is going to be a great season because real love is going to be found or at least explored. And I believe after this promo, I am more and more excited to watch Peter Weber as The Bachelor.
Starting point is 00:10:21 But let's move on for a second and celebrate Hannah. Separate her from coming onto the show. She is now the mirror ball holder. She is the champion. I would say going into the finale, it was expected that she would win, right? Yeah, I happen. I've never really watched a full season of Dancing with the Stars. But from everything that I saw and heard, she was absolutely the frontrunner.
Starting point is 00:10:42 because every week I was hearing about her performance and I and nobody else no other names who are sticking out well I were pumped for Hannah she's she's obviously I mean we got a lot of people last night kind of got a message saying hey make sure you vote for Hannah she's been through a lot this year I know she's been through a lot I know she's gotten her criticism I know you know obviously the situation with Jed was unfortunate for her but I also feel like Hannah Brown is definitely the phoenix rising to the top and living her best life right now. And from all of us still almost from his podcast, congratulations, Hannah. What an accomplishment, what a feat.
Starting point is 00:11:20 And I know it was not an easy journey. What a year she has had. It's unbelievable. That girl is, she is cruising and she's working hard and she's dominating. She's straight dominating. I think she might be most popular, one of the most popular bachelor contestants of all. all the time. Maybe if not.
Starting point is 00:11:42 Well, here's the crazy part. Well, and you remember, Ashley, when we first started talking about Hannah, you had to convince me that she was going to be a good bachelor at because we had watched her on the first episode. And everybody was like, this is going to be terrible. She can't even talk. She's going to be boring. This is going to be goofy.
Starting point is 00:11:59 And you're like, no, I like her because she's real. And look at where we sit now. I got a good increase, people. I know you do. Anyway, a few more things. things I want to mention before we move on to this very exciting episode where we're going to answer all of these questions that you guys have sent in about the behind the scenes of Bachelor filming. One, Peter's hair looks great in the teaser. Don't you think that like the criticism
Starting point is 00:12:28 that he got for his hair? It's all gone. It's all out the wayside because his haircut is looking amazing. Also love the show. What was wrong with his hair? Come on. Everybody was talking about how his hair was just two Boy Scout, too squeaky clean, he looks like a little bit more rugged. Okay, okay, get it. That's fair, good for him. That's a girl thing. Girl note.
Starting point is 00:12:48 Okay. Number two piece of news that I want to discuss really briefly, it looks like Tyler Cameron may have moved on from Gigi with Kylie Jenner's best friend. Her name's sleeping my mind right now, but she's very pretty. And I think that he might have had a little out of, with Kylie or Kendall this weekend.
Starting point is 00:13:13 So we've got to keep our eyes peeled for that romance. He's really, he's getting all those young celebrity circles. Is it, uh, is her name's Stacy? Stossie, Stossie. Not Vanderpump Stossie. That's it. Another Stossie. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:31 Stossie. Well, you know, I wonder, what do you think about that, right? I mean, Tyler Cameron gets off the show. He obviously, they Gigi Hadid, and now he's in that. other circle. Is that just coincidence? Is that something he's interested by? What do you take from that? I think it's obvious that he does like the celebrity. The celebrity that has come with his show fame. And that's not a bad thing, but he's definitely not trying to go back to a regular life in Florida or even a regular life running his charity. He likes to live in the
Starting point is 00:14:10 spotlight, and he wants to do that right now. He's going to take full advantage of it, and that is totally fine. I know, like, some people will be like, don't shame him for all that. I'm like, I'm not shaming him. I'm just saying that, like, it's evident that he, if he has the opportunity to date somebody a little famous, I think he might go for it. What do you think? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:31 Well, I mean, I think that's, I think you're spot on. I think this whole world for him has exploded. When we talked to him on the podcast at the very beginning, he was like, hey, you know, I don't know what to expect next. I mean, who would have even thunk that, I don't know how many months later. Now, he is all over every news outlet for the people he's dating, for the circles he's running in. You know, if Hannah Brown is the biggest name to ever come from this show, Tyler Cameron is definitely probably one of the most sought after, I would say, like, I don't even know how to say celebrities from the show, meaning on kind of like how recognizable he is
Starting point is 00:15:04 now in the United States. I wonder if, so taking all this into consideration, do I think it's a smart move. I don't know. I don't know what he's wanting out of this. And I don't think either of us are claiming to know. I think the celebrity part of it is exciting. It's fun. It's a change. It's a little euphoric. It's captivating. But here's what
Starting point is 00:15:24 I wonder. And we're only going to know here soon because social media has really just kind of hit its run here in the last year or two. And the show is kind of now turned into more of a celebrity focused show. I wonder after Peter's season, if we're
Starting point is 00:15:40 to see a similar reaction to the Bachelor of Peter and how big of a name he becomes and also one of his contestants or two of the contestants to see if they become real celebrities after the show as well. I don't know. We'll have to wait and see because we'd only have one season to really test. But I mean, even Colton season has it peaked. You don't, it has it peaked. I mean, Colton's season doesn't have this kind of reaction, right? I mean, Colton was known, but he wasn't as known as Hannah. And, you know, his top three. people were loved and Cassie is obviously loved by everyone and Hannah is loved by everyone, but they aren't as recognizable as the Tyler Cameron's of the world. I wonder if this season
Starting point is 00:16:20 we see a very similar theme happen. I don't know. We'll see. I mean, there were rumors flying that the Bachelor producers were trying to get away from girls that seemed like they were trying to get in it for social media and for fame. I don't know how you really weed that out. I don't really think you can, but apparently they're trying, and this is all hearsay, that they're trying to find girls that didn't already have a semi-established social media page, a la Hannah G., who went in with like 50,000 followers. Yeah, no, hey, this is a whole new world, one that you and I will be trying to understand as we go. We'll obviously be talking about it.
Starting point is 00:17:03 It's going to be talked about all season. We'll be talking about. We'll be breaking down not only upcoming season, of the bachelor with Peter Weber, but also how these characters and people that are watching on TV, how they become even more of celebrities after the show. We'll talk to them, we'll get to know them throughout this season. But before we do all that, we do have to end this segment by just saying, hey, congratulations, Hannah. It's a big deal you won, and Ashley and I could not be more excited for you. But coming up, we're going to answer your questions.
Starting point is 00:17:38 We're back. We're ready. We're talking vulnerability today, Ashley. I don't know what it is. I'm a little, I just got back from Puerto Viro to Mexico. I was staying at the Hyatt Ziva down there for my buddy's wedding. Nice. I saw the pictures. It was a great wedding. My buddy Brian married his partner, Josh, on the beach. It was beautiful. And Jessica got to go and my family was down there. But it hit me the last day. And Ashley, I want to know what you're feeling. I'm like a little like down right now. Like I don't life. There's a great thing's happening tonight. My new restaurant actually opens up called Mr.
Starting point is 00:18:24 Oso in Denver. Big last night for me. Yeah. And that's awesome. Right. But I yet I still feel like blah. Like I'm still like last night I had this like existential crisis where I was like, what is happening?
Starting point is 00:18:38 Where is my life? going. And is this just the time of year? Is it like seasons changing? Am I, am I a dud? Ashley, what do you think? Okay, I think a couple weeks ago, we talked about how just nostalgia in general, right? And I think that fall in the holiday season always brings nostalgia, which always makes you just think about your life and where it's headed a little bit more and think about your past a little bit more. So I think that's pretty darn normal, especially around this time of year. I also kind of understand you. I think that you and I maybe we will be able to relate to this whereas like most everybody else outside the bachelor probably doesn't. Our life like you Ben and I
Starting point is 00:19:23 is the most calm in the fall, especially October, November when there's no bachelor talk. We aren't doing the podcast as like machine like as usual. I'm doing so many less. Recaps, all that. And then I'm like, go, go, go like crazy, like booked full-time job, you know, all the other nine to ten months a year. But fall is kind of like my summer. So I have been the past two weeks, had like a lot of downtime. And I'm like, you should be.
Starting point is 00:19:55 And I've been feeling really guilty about my downtime, which sucks because you would want to use it to relax. But now, like, I feel like in our society, time to relax is not like looked at as a good thing and for me it gets me frustrated because I'm like oh man I should be working on something else this means that like the end of this the end of my career is coming because I have downtime but I always like I know it always speeds up again but these these lulls come very far and few between it just sucks that I can't truly enjoy them yeah I know because what we do doesn't have a guarantee we're not yeah it could end tomorrow yeah it could in tomorrow like
Starting point is 00:20:37 I get it. So listeners, write us in hashtag almost famous podcast or email us at Ben and Ashley iHeartMedia.com. What is happening? Like, are you feeling a little down now? What do you do when you start feeling this way? Because it is a true feeling. It's not fun to live in this little bit of like law, but I'm there.
Starting point is 00:21:02 Sounds like Ashley, you're there and we need your help. So again, write us in. Hey, Ashley, this podcast is about vulnerability. So we're going to go behind the scenes. We're answering listener questions today. Some questions that have kind of sat out there for a bit about the show. So the questions this podcast, we're going to get real. We're going to get dirty.
Starting point is 00:21:22 We're going to share things that never has been shared before. And before we do, let's jump in to talk about one of our favorite sponsors. Ashley, take it away. Starting point is 00:23:22 Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon. This person writes, my boyfriend has been hanging out with his young professor a lot. He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her. Now he's insisting we get to know each other, but I just want her gone. Now, hold up. Isn't that against school policy? That sounds totally inappropriate. Well, according to this person, this is her boyfriend's former professor, and they're the same age.
Starting point is 00:23:45 It's even more likely that they're cheating. He insists there's nothing between them. I mean, do you believe him? Well, he's certainly trying to get this person to believe him because he now wants them both to meet. So, do we find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated with his professor or not? To hear the explosive finale, listen to the OK Storytime podcast on the IHeart Radio app, podcast or wherever you get your podcast. Hi, my name is Enya Umanzor.

Starting point is 00:29:26 When picking out rings for the proposal, does each girl pick out a few that she likes? Ashley, on the Bachelor, when somebody's getting proposed to, do they pick out the rings? The girls do not pick out the rings, but they do tell a producer who will relay the message to the proposing man
Starting point is 00:29:48 what kind of ring they like. There you. Simple answer. it is simple i mean neil lane shows up to this house i remember this i was sitting there he opens up a box full of 10 rings one of one of these rings is obviously the choice that you should be choosing like it's it's the biggest most beautiful thing you ever did see and he makes it pretty clear but that's the one you should choose so really like you said the woman have no choice except that they do to the producer what they would like and i think that ring is the one that stands out the most so question for you there's a there's a other guy usually proposing to the bachelorette is the guy who she's not going to choose and the producers know she's not going to choose um has like a ring that's not the kind of ring that she really wanted they kind of like throw him off i think so i think that's exactly what happens isn't that interesting yeah yes so i think i think there's like i just don't think that he gets to hints that the other one does yeah i guess you never you only proposed
Starting point is 00:30:52 once and you were the bachelor so it was a little different but um as far as the ring you were told which ring Lauren liked I was how did they hint that how did they tell you um you go around I like this one I like this one I like this one and then he would be like yeah but that one that one stands out to me like does it like yeah it does so it's it's pretty clear on what which one you should be like because I don't know I've had any clue how to pick out rings I was just looking for something that seemed nice um so it's pretty clear it's pretty funny all right this is one that a lot of people I think ask and wonder as they watch the bachelor from Sharon Langeros do they just buy groceries and everyone cooks for themselves or do they order food for the contestants you start Ben well actually I know you and I both are very passionate about this topic of food during the show And when you're in the mansion, I'll talk about this. And Ashley, I'll let you take it away. When you're in the mansion, you are responsible for cooking for yourself.
Starting point is 00:32:01 Now, there's always that one person that likes to do it for the whole group because either they're trying to be the hero or they're just a super good cook. But on Rose Ceremony nights, they have a caterer come in and heat up like hot dogs and hot pockets so that everybody eats those, which makes your breast smell awful as you talk to anybody. So that's the mansion. You cook for yourself. Groceries are ordered. They're brought in.
Starting point is 00:32:27 And then on Rose Ceremony nights, they do have a catered kind of like finger food dinner. And they also allow you to write in the kitchen what kind of groceries you want. There's like an ongoing grocery list. They go and get them every like two or three days. Then they also have like CVS trips too for all the girls that need toiletries. And then when you're out on the road and we're in hotels, there's like a buffet three times a day.
Starting point is 00:32:52 day in whatever lounge they set up to be our designated cafeteria, basically. And this is really when the Bachelor 15 begins because it's just this large, this large buffet spread. And the only thing you look forward to all day long when you're not out on a date and on the Bachelor, that's pretty often. That's like every two of three days. So you look forward to your meals and you're looking at your watch being like, is it, Is it meal time yet?
Starting point is 00:33:22 And it's a nice camaraderie too, but you, when you're really just live, when you're being entertained by food, you really pilot it on. And it's not the most healthy options. It's exactly what you think of when you think about buffet food. Yeah, you're exactly right. Kimberly Benyak has a good one. What do the women in the house do when they're not on the dates because they don't have TVs and they don't have phones? That was a good lead in. We eat.
Starting point is 00:33:51 it's not false i mean the guys did the same thing we ate and i mean actually i don't know if remember this but on my season of the bachelorette uh the game uh there's like a lot of card games being played um but you don't have books you don't have like access to tv internet or phones and so it's a lot of like just talking life with the people around you so much talking life and you'd think that you get tired of it after a while but i never did i don't think i did either i mean i think there's moments where i mean i think the first two weeks you're so nervous and then once you get used to it it's actually very kind of like freeing to be so focused on what's happening in your own life and you know talking to your friends about your insecurities or
Starting point is 00:34:45 the things that you do or i mean i got to know jared so well during my season of the Bachelorette because he and I really connected on a different level and we got to talk through life. So you talk a lot. Yeah, you talk a lot. And if you need alone time, you can go right in your journal or you can fake a nap or take a real nap. I faked a nap a couple times just because I wanted to like breathe and be like alone with my own thoughts and daydream a little bit and then um you know you can take a shower but we had our games we didn't really have card games i'm not a huge card game person but i remember just playing heads up a lot so um a handler would give us a phone with the heads up app you know that's ellen's game and we play that a lot
Starting point is 00:35:38 and then we would play the post-it note game where you would put a posted note on somebody's forehead and they had to guess what, like, historical icon or celebrity that was on their forehead. And it was really fun. Like, I was all about the pose at no game. Every now was like, you guys, let's pose a no game. I just love, like, yes and no, 20 questions type games. That's fascinating. Honestly, that's really interesting.
Starting point is 00:36:00 While we're on the subject of talking life with the fellow contestant, this is from Abby. Do you get to choose your roommates or the rooms when you move into the mansion or when you're traveling? Yeah, it's, this is a hard one. Because at times, right? I mean, there is obviously that the producers have an input on who you're staying with. But really that only comes into play, at least during my time, for the last, like, four or five weeks of this season. For the most part, it is kind of whoever you want a room with, as long as this person and you get along. And it almost feels like elementary school all over again when you're, like, on your way into the hotel.
Starting point is 00:36:40 And people start saying, like, you want to be my roommate? you want to be my roommate like kind of like you want to be my partner and you're just waiting for somebody to look at you and be like hey you want to be my roommate and then it's the coolest and best feeling um it's like elementary school and that's kind of how it works yeah and you don't know how many rooms are going to be there there was this one time that Megan McKenzie and I all shared one room and one of us got a cot so we had a king bed and a cot um it's like a little nerve wracking because you're like oh what if I get stuck with the villain because a lot of people somebody has to share a room with the villain once you go on on tour and then in the house
Starting point is 00:37:19 the first day you move in they have your name tags on the bed and then so you're running through all the rooms trying to find your name tag and then after a couple or so elimination then girls or guys I don't know about you guys actually girls started moving rooms because there'd be empty bunks and then you'd end up you know being more with your friends I heard this weekend actually that on Colton season they separated the youthful girls like all the 23 year olds were in one room and then all the old girls were in an other room so I think that they wanted to create that division interesting yeah so there's like ways that they do it you're not and the other part of this is too a lot of it comes down to like on the flights there to wherever you're traveling I mean we fly in the back of the plane and they they pick what your seats you're going to be in and so a lot of like the partnerships friendships kind of like happen starting on the plane right over to your location and then once you get the location as Ashley was saying you just kind of fall in the place in the rooms I stayed in the cot a couple times because I roomed with
Starting point is 00:38:27 Sean Booth and I mean I don't know I think I just had a better back or something I always felt like I was always in a cot I sometimes would choose a cot in that one case because I just wanted to like kind of have my own individual spot you know like my own place not to share a bed isn't it weird for is it weird for you guys to share a bed it's a little different when girls have sleepovers we share beds no i i i don't think so it never felt weird the only part that felt weird to me was like i just and i've talked about before in the podcast like not even thought i think i did when sean was on it was like every night he was like he had a really hard go at it he this was not like his most idea
Starting point is 00:39:10 experience. So every night as he was like processing his feelings for Caitlin, I was the one that had to hear it. And I was also dating Caitlin at the time. So like it always felt weird to be in the same room as somebody that was dating the same girl as you. That was just a weird predicament. But no, I think when Sean and I did, we just, we knew there was no other option.
Starting point is 00:39:31 The interesting one was Becca Tilly and Joel Fletcher were roommates the whole entire time. And I mean, they're still like best friends today. And you could see that kind of friendship blossom on the show, which is really cool when friendships happen like that from the show. Yeah, that's really cool. My boyfriend's professor is way too friendly, and now I'm seriously suspicious. Oh, wait a minute, Sam. Maybe her boyfriend's just looking for extra credit. Well, Dakota, it's back to school week on the OK Storytime podcast, so we'll find out soon.
Starting point is 00:40:04 This person writes, my boyfriend has been hanging out with his young professor a lot. He doesn't think it's a problem, but I don't trust her. now he's insisting we get to know each other but I just want her gone. Now hold up, isn't that against school policy? That sounds totally inappropriate. Well, according to this person, this is her boyfriend's former professor
Starting point is 00:40:20 and they're the same age. And it's even more likely that they're cheating. He insists there's nothing between them. I mean, do you believe him? Well, he's certainly trying to get this person to believe him because he now wants them both to meet. So, do we find out if this person's boyfriend really cheated with his professor or not?

Starting point is 00:43:17 This season, we're going even deeper into the world of music and entertainment with raw and honest conversations with some of your favorite Latin artists and celebrities. You didn't have to audition? No, I didn't audition. I haven't audition in, like, over 25 years. Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:43:30 That's a real G-talk right there. Oh, yeah. We've got some of the biggest actors, musicians, content creators, and culture shifters sharing their real stories of failure and success. You were destined to be a start. We talk all about what's viral and trending
Starting point is 00:43:48 with a little bit of chisement, a lot of laughs, and those amazing vibras you've come to expect. And of course, we'll explore deeper topics dealing with identity, struggles, and all the issues affecting our Latin community. You feel like you get a little whitewash because you have to do the code switching? I won't say whitewash because at the end of the day,
Starting point is 00:44:05 you know what I'm me? Yeah. But the whole pretending and code, you know, It takes a toll on. Listen to the new season of Grasas Has Come Again as part of My Cultura Podcast Network on the IHartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Mark got a new question? Sure do.
Starting point is 00:44:26 Simple one from Emily Moschka. How many cameras are typically on you at any given time? I would say probably three. There's probably like one or two, like one close up, one from a different further way. angle and then there's probably one on the corner of the ceiling as well then would you agree yeah i mean there's there's okay so there's like one that's yeah definitely on the ceiling three in maybe two or three in the room it matters what you're at too if you're just in the house chilling and there's a date going on and you're not on it it's probably just one or two people now
Starting point is 00:45:00 if you're on a one-on-one date it's going to be like eight to nine cameras yeah um with like four people working each camera so there's like 40 people watching you um oh and what about the rose ceremonies that's when they have like 12 lined up 12 cameras with four people working each camera and other like handlers helping out if you're on a one-on-one day i would say this actually i bet there is at least 60 people watching you on that day 60 you think like well like yeah but behind the scenes as well like in the control room. Definitely. There's a lot of
Starting point is 00:45:39 bodies in front of you on the date though. Actually, you're right. No. Yeah. It's not far from that. It's not.
Starting point is 00:45:45 It's a lot of people. Yeah. Another. You get used to it. So like I don't want this to sound like, oh, this is like distracting and oh my gosh, it's fake. No,
Starting point is 00:45:56 you get, it's weird how quickly you get used to having all these people watching you. Yeah. It's definitely not weird after a while. The only thing that I thought continued to stay weird after um the four seasons was a one on one day in a dinner setting when you were like sitting at the table it it felt a little bit awkward because it like the room would be so silent except for the two of you and like a fork did you did that and yeah and you agree with me
Starting point is 00:46:29 there i i feel yeah i definitely agree with you here's the thing though you were the bachelor that So you experience that a lot more than I did. Yeah, exactly. I was going to say, like, that's what I got very used to it. The camera operators are incredibly good at staying silent and almost being unseen, though. Like, they, it's a real funny thing to, like, if you ever do get the chance to watch them, they, like, dance. And I don't remember many times, like, looking out at the cameras, but they, like, to move
Starting point is 00:46:59 and to operate, they're, like, doing this, like, very quiet, slow dance around each other. and you it's hard to notice them yeah i always felt so in an i tm in an interview room there's usually you a producer maybe three other people and this is when i would always feel so accomplished if i made a camera or an audio guy laugh in there then i was like if he laughed and he couldn't keep it in then i just definitely got a sound bite there yeah you remember ashley during um winter games when I asked to interview you because I knew like I don't think we've ever talked about this but during winter games Ashley was kind of dating somebody during it and she had these mixed emotions we never talked about this on air that you interviewed me and I interviewed you but you
Starting point is 00:47:48 definitely interviewed me far more and that was an in-depth podcast it was and I went into the producer and said I want to talk to my friend Ashley because there's some stuff going on what I really wanted to tell you and I don't know if you remember this but we were sitting in the locker room you were struggling with a few things and i remember going does any of this point you back to jared i don't know if you remember that and you're like i think we're just friends i think we're good good and moved on from that and i just could tell that you were not your full self and that there was something missing and look at you now i know i lied to myself so much throughout that experience yeah yeah well i get it but i get it i get why but um no so anyways that's the behind the
Starting point is 00:48:30 scenes of how the cameras operate. Miranda, sure. At what point are the hometown dates actually chosen so they can start scoping the towns out and planning things? There's no way they actually pull everything together with a couple of days' notice. So I was eighth place on Chris Sol's
Starting point is 00:48:47 season. The week that I was eliminated, he eliminated it down to six girls. So that week before the top six is when they start talking to you about what you would do at your hometown because I did have a meeting with one of the producers about what would happen at my hometown. Well, and for me on Caitlin's season, you know, I was, I got like going third and they
Starting point is 00:49:13 had asked me, you know, what I was going to do. They talked to my family. My family knew I was coming and then hometowns got canceled. I really do think it's about like Ashley said like that sixth. So like maybe a week and a half before they finalized it down to four, they start talking to the families and start prepping for that date but it is pretty quick i mean that's one thing that we the bachelor is very good at throwing some massive really cool things together with really short notice yeah my mom was like let me know so i can buy all new furniture my parents bought brand new outdoor furniture for when i was on the bachelor yeah and i didn't come home i didn't even come home but you did go home on the bachelor with emily i did so was the furniture showed off oh you you you're
Starting point is 00:49:59 I've got to believe that's a very first scene when I walk up on that show with my parents sitting in their new furniture. Hell yeah. I have one other thing to add. Your season with Caitlin, your hometowns were canceled. Did you know that you were supposed to go to Patagonia, the top three? Top three? That would have been really awesome. Yeah, you were supposed to go there.
Starting point is 00:50:22 I found this out this week, too. I think the reason that hometowns were canceled that year was, because of weather something like that i do remember that there's big storms in patagonia and then south america and i heard a rumor going to south america which was great because i had just lived in peru and so i was like oh cool we're going to like if we go back to my like peru this i'm going to be thriving um jared didn't get a hometown because of it and i'm glad he didn't i'm like i'm glad i'm the bachelor girl that you brought home oh oh that's sweet all right mark jenny has a question for the lead how does the lead remember the names of all the
Starting point is 00:51:06 people he or she is calling at the rose ceremony especially the first few nights but i think you've touched on this before yeah i have um well first off you want to try your best to remember everybody's name because it's happened in past seasons where a bachelor a bachelor bachelor has messed up a name and then it's just funny awkward tv so you want to really do your best to remember the names uh people want to say like there's name tags or it's written on your hand it's not it's not written on anything um but if you forget um you either sit there in it or i like to just take a break and i just take a deep breath maybe take a walk away regroup rethink about the names um but that's it you you really have to kind of do like some some memory tricks to memorize those names or it's
Starting point is 00:51:55 going to be awkward for everybody. Okay. It's impressive. Come on, give us some credit. It's impressive. Good job. It is impressive. Thank you.

Another lead question. When you travel, did the lead fly in the same plane as all the other contestants? Oftentimes, yes. Only once.
Starting point is 00:57:05 Wait, your souls travel on the same plane as you guys? He did, I think, on the way to New Mexico. That's wild. No. So I would always travel a day. beforehand to do like B-roll and to walk through the town before the girls got there. And the only time I did fly on the same plane, it was to Jamaica and Kayla Quinn wrote me a letter and gave it to the stewardess to give to me.
Starting point is 00:57:33 And one of the producers saw it happen and actually came and took it off of my, like I had it in my book and I was reading it while I was in my book. And I felt like I was like a little kid in elementary school getting caught because I was reading it. The producer came and took it from me as I was reading it. And I don't know if I ever saw it. So not very often. Okay. So I thought it actually happened pretty often, but I'm obviously not the one educated on this. Well, and here's the thing. Here's the funny part. And it's, I don't know if this is good or bad. But the lead sits first class. The cast sits in the back of the plane either way, even if they're not on the same plane. Oh, yeah. I know. That's,
Starting point is 00:58:14 that's the image that I had in my head, which is why I thought it happened often because the most vivid image I have of traveling is Chris sitting in the first class and us walking by him. You don't even get the plane when you walk in the middle. That's the best because you have to see the people
Starting point is 00:58:31 in the first class. You have to walk through. Caitlin Roskioli McNichol. Great name. Bravo on that. What is on the famous packing list and how do you possibly fit everything into two suitcases?
Starting point is 00:58:42 So I saw this question right now. in front of me on our rundown and I looked in my Gmail and I don't delete anything and I found my packing list back that I was sent in 2014. Wow. The date is September 4th, 2014. Damn. Talk about nostalgia. All right.
Starting point is 00:59:01 Yeah, that's crazy. Ash, it's five years ago. Should I read? Should I read it all? Am I, is Warner going to kill me? Um, no. It's not private. No, it's a packing list.
Starting point is 00:59:14 okay so photo ID and passport valid through May 2015 your cell phone evening gown cocktail dresses they don't give you a number but they do say they say everything has to fit in two check suitcases a carry-on bag in a garment bag if necessary so then we have casual evening clothes casual day clothes workout clothing for indoor and outdoor activities comfortable outdoor clothes comfortable traveling attire for long haul flights, coats and jackets for dressing up and dressing down, clothes for all types of weather, snow, rain, sun, and wind, tropical resort wear, shorts, tang tops, ensembles for semi-casual outdoor dining, all types of shoes, dressy, hiking boots, comfortable, exercise, casual, a sun hat, several bathing suits and cover-ups. a robe or a cover-up with slippers, if desired, pajamas and undergarments, one pair of sunglasses, however, sunglasses are not to be worn on camera, sunscreen, prescription medicines, in original bottles, and refilled,
Starting point is 01:00:27 any necessary over-the-counter medications, personal items, including makeup, skincare products, body and hair products, and anything you can't live without. But please keep in mind that these are all limited to two suitcases only. Do not bring cameras. Do not bring clothing with exterior logos. Yeah. This,
Starting point is 01:00:50 I just want to pause you there for a second, Ashley, and tell you this packing list is famous. So keep going, but this is a famous packing list. Yeah, I mean, it's so ridiculous.
Starting point is 01:01:00 They like literally say, pack for everywhere on earth and keep it to two suitcases and make sure that you have enough to wear for two whole months. So nuts. Okay, I'll continue. No,
Starting point is 01:01:12 iPod or music devices, no computers or iPads, no chunky necklaces. Those interfere with sound. So there was one time on Chris's season, I insisted on wearing my chunky turquoise necklace. It was so beautiful, so Pocahontas-like. And they were like, Ashley, we cannot. We cannot. And I was like, I must. It was my only diva moment. And I taped it down with like a whole bunch of double-sided tape. We're done. That's it? Yeah, that's it. That's the packing list.
Starting point is 01:01:45 There you go. You've got the famous packing list. I'm sure it's changed because there was language in there about iPods. iPods that doesn't think exist anymore. But yeah, you get the idea. All right, Mark. All right, let's see here. How about Abby is wondering, is there any place in the mansion off limits the cameras?
Starting point is 01:02:03 The bathroom. Yeah. They're very respectful. Like, I never, ever in my time felt that anybody was invading my space to, a level that was like inappropriate. So yeah, the bathrooms, I think that's probably
Starting point is 01:02:21 about it. Everyplace else, like, if you were doing something, they had the right to come watch you. Yeah, and the bathroom people are going to say, like, well, we've seen shots of the girls doing their makeup and hair in the bathroom. Yeah, I mean, they'll say, camera coming in to do B-roll
Starting point is 01:02:36 for Rose Ceremony or date prep, but like they're never going to go into the toilet stall, you know, or if somebody's in the shower, they're not going in. And there's actually a bathroom in the living room of the mansion. Like when you see everybody sitting in there, there's a bathroom like right off the side. That was mine. That I would use often.
Starting point is 01:02:54 Me too. Especially, yeah, especially during Rose. Or especially when I was nervous. I'd go in there and get a breath real quick to make sure everything was good. That was the most private bathroom because like it had a door and a lock and it wasn't attached to a bedroom. So like nobody was going in there and just leaving the door open or whatnot. So that was the bathroom that I would.
Starting point is 01:03:12 would always go shower in because I knew I could like actually have private time the other bathrooms girls like are kind of going in getting out and getting like ready all the time or like some girl will be in the in the bathroom one will be in the tub the other one will be on a shower I'm like no no I just like need my privacy right now so I would always go in that one great Sharon asks when you're in a different country are you allowed to leave the hotel if you're not on a date no oh no sightseeing you're not Ben you want to elaborate Well, I mean, so there's like a day typically where a producer will have the ability to take you out. And so it doesn't always happen, but if things work out the way they typically do, you'll get one day to cut.
Starting point is 01:03:57 You always do a B-roll day. So you're walking around doing the sites, seeing the things that are like cool to the city. And then there's a B-roll day where that's the B-Rill day. And at the end of the week, sometimes you just get a free. day to kind of like regroup as the bachelor or bachelor's traveling and the cast can go look but no for the most part you're on lockdown and you're in a hotel and it's there's like maybe some time to work out but for the most part we're doing what we talked about earlier we're talking we're eating we're sleeping yeah but yeah i would say i mean for us at least we didn't try we were like
Starting point is 01:04:36 the least traveling season and the girls in the spots that i were i was at we had a day of exploration but of course it's together as a group and with producers it's not like you get to go like out and be like you know we're going to go to that local paris cafe for lunch see you guys later no yeah no never quick one from kately has anyone ever sneaked a cell phone under the show that you know of so many people have one time in paradise yeah uh i think my sister walked in on tenly on her iPad on the toilet oh wow And she was like, oh, my God, don't tell. Please don't tell.
Starting point is 01:05:17 That's hilarious. Yeah, I think it happens quite a bit. Yeah, my sister herself snuck her phone in for Paradise. Yeah. I never did that. I do know that happened. I found, I was in Portland, Oregon during my season of The Bachelor. And I stayed in a hotel room that had the iPad controlled, like, the temperature, the TV, all of that, the hotel room.
Starting point is 01:05:39 And I took that and got on the internet. And I Googled everybody that was left. um i don't think i've ever just said this i kind of forgot that i was able like so unlike you i know i was able to read like the next place we were going um i was able to like read up on the girls um i definitely did that i was able to like see like like somebody had interviewed my parents in passing and i was able to hear what their comments were about the whole thing so yeah it was uh it was actually uh one of the most i felt like i was doing something wrong and i definitely felt like they were watching me to catch me in the act but no they were so rebellious and like even
Starting point is 01:06:18 though there's a phone in the hotel room you know just like a regular hotel room phone i've always i was always tempted to call my parents from it just to like say hi not even to like get illegal info but i was too scared to even pick up the phone for some reason what are they going to do eliminate me and they're like actually you're not going to be on this season anymore because you called home you're so scared yeah you're like it's literally Literally, you want to see 25 to, well, 20 to 30 year old, 35 year old. I don't know, people acting like they're in elementary school again. Go watch this show.
Starting point is 01:06:51 Like it happens. Everybody turns into like scared little puppies and everybody like just like worries about like what, you know, mommy and daddy are going to find. Yeah. My sister, if you guys remember all the way back in season two of Paradise. So she was dating someone back at home and she just couldn't, well, she was not exclusive with him. In fact, if you remember all the sloppiness to it, he actually had a girlfriend. We don't have to go there, but she didn't want to be, you know, not communicating with him
Starting point is 01:07:24 throughout the weeks that she was there. So she sneaks in her phone and yet somehow the dumbass forgot a charger to her phone. So when her phone ends up dying, you know, like 48 hours in, she went to one of the producers. and she was like, okay, so here's the deal. I have my phone. I need a charger. I need a charger or I'm leaving. And he was like, Lauren, Lauren, Lauren.
Starting point is 01:07:52 And they wanted her to stick around. So they kind of, well, I shouldn't go into it anymore. But the producer is no longer there. So it's not like they can get in trouble. But they ended up keeping her phone and she was allowed to check it every couple days just because she was such good entertainment. They don't frisk you. They don't do body cavity searches.
Starting point is 01:08:09 It's just not that serious. It's not that hard to do it, sounds like. Um, you'd have to bring a burner phone because you'd have to, so that's what my sister did. Oh. So she brought two phones, her old iPhone and her real iPhone and she handed off an old iPhone because they definitely take them. They're like, we need your phone. We know you have a phone.
Starting point is 01:08:29 Yeah. Uh, Sarah, do the contestants and the lead have access to a therapist during and after the show that Sarah Culseth. Definitely. Yeah, they do a great job about that. There is always somebody. available to talk to if you need them they travel with the show they're around the show so yes yes and back in the day i loved our therapist she was so easy to talk to and i remember season three of
