Starting point is 00:00:00 That wasn't the end of what Bonnie Crombie said at this fundraiser. She talked about identity politics. Let's take a listen. That fuels cultural clashes in our communities. That divides us. If the result of the United States election teaches us anything, it's this. Identity politics is dead and buried. It's about GD time is what I would say to that. I'd say far worse things.
Starting point is 00:00:34 I think that identity politics has driven wedges, created silos and pushed us farther apart at a time where we should have been celebrating being together. We needed each other. We needed each other. We were nowhere for each other. But I would also ask for these people to take a look in the mirror, because I don't know what Bonnie Crombie's positions were a few years ago on identity politics, but people of her ilk, people on that side of the political spectrum wielded the strength of an emotional mob with destructive effects on a number of people who didn't deserve it. I could speak personally for the effects of cancel culture. A lie was perpetrated against someone I loved with destructive effects. And there are still people working in the media who contributed to it,
Starting point is 00:01:31 who orchestrated it, who added fuel to the fire until there was nothing left. And those people still work today when, although I'll say it, the awful toxic women on the social who wielded their influence to hurt my wife called her a racist. She was no such thing. It was all pure fiction. None of it happened. And they knew it.
Starting point is 00:02:01 And they just they did everything they could to destroy her. We talk about toxic masculinity. This was toxic femininity at its most disgusting. And when they had real racism in their midst, when they had a real racist sitting at their own table, the same show that tried to take down my wife protected that racist because they were one of her. She was one of their own. And what did she do? She used identity politics to protect herself. Oh, I had internalized racism, and that's why I acted like a racist.
Starting point is 00:02:31 The same show that tried to take down my wife defended one of their own. It was disgusting. And I had to walk into that building every goddamn day, every day, knowing that these loathsome people were working in the same building that I was. So I'd love to know what they have to say today. Actually, I don't know. I don't care. I haven't talked to them and I wouldn't talk to them. But this was a it was shameful behavior. Wasn't very proud of my my employer for allowing that stuff to happen, but it did. I couldn't believe it when I watched. I said, oh, finally a little justice. The person calling my wife a racist, uncovered as a racist.
Starting point is 00:03:15 Let's see what the people on her show say. And Marcy Ian, who is now an MP in the Liberal government. Gave her a pass. I know what's in your heart, she said about the racist on her panel. I know what's in your heart, giving her a pass. Meanwhile, she took down my wife. It was disgusting. And I guess
Starting point is 00:03:40 the good news is nobody, I don't think anybody watches that show. They haven't in a very long time. But yeah, you know what? I've anybody watches that show. They haven't in a very long time. But yeah, and you know what? I've never said that publicly. I'm glad I did. I'm glad I did because it was a terrible time. So I have a personal experience here.
Starting point is 00:03:58 So identity politics is dead. Good. Good. Shoot it in the head. Pull an old yeller. Double tap to the back of the head. And then think about your role in it. Because we're all guilty of it. In one way, shape, or form, we're guilty. We contributed to somebody. We might have tweeted something.
Starting point is 00:04:19 We might have reposted something. We might have, in a rush because we didn't like someone, repost something that wasn't true. And there were some real people who got hurt. Real people who got hurt. And by the way, some people deserved a little pushback for something they said or did. But in a lot of cases, it was a bazooka that was used to swat a fly. And we all know we did it. We all know we hurt people. It was a destructive, destructive evil time driven by emotion and capitalized on by some terribly toxic people and what and and they know what they did and and some of them will never feel bad uh but uh but now i've said what i've had to say
