The stage has been set.
An incoming president with a love of tariffs,
who feels that his country has a bum deal as it relates to Canada,
who feels that Canada has been skating on its relationship with the United States,
not investing in border security,
not giving a care in the world about migrants going across the porous border or fentanyl,
not taking care of our Arctic sovereignty
or defending our borders or living up to our international obligations as they relate to NATO,
has said he's going to make our life hell with tariffs the day he gets in if those things are
not dealt with. Upon meeting with the prime minister who's been antagonizing him, he and
his government over the course of years, calling him a boogeyman and all manner of sin on social media and the House of Commons,
decided to needle the guy, telling him then maybe Canada should be the 51st state, calling him Governor Trudeau.
This is the most monumental negotiation that we are set to have that could affect our country in devastating ways, if not handled properly,
for not just in the immediate term,
but for years to come.
So Justin Trudeau gets on stage
at an event hosted by Equal Voice Foundation,
an organization dedicated to improving gender representation
in Canadian politics, and said this.
No, it shouldn't be that way. It wasn't supposed to be that way. We were supposed to be on a steady,
if difficult sometimes, march towards progress. And yet, just a few weeks ago, the United States
voted for a second time to not elect its first woman president. Everywhere, women's rights
and women's progress is under attack, overtly and subtly. But I want you to know that I am
and always will be a proud feminist. You will always have an ally in me and in my government.
So I try, I try to be polite on this show,
but I'm going to just say this.
Who the hell does this guy think he is?
And you know what?
That's a good faith question.
Who the hell do you think you are?
First of all,
by any measure,
you are absolutely not a feminist.
We, we are hearing stories now that you're going to turf Chrystia Freeland. Ask Selina Cesar Chavan if you're a feminist. Ask Jody Wilson-Raybould
if you're a feminist. That is patently false. Ask that woman, I believe there was that time
when he was a teacher, where a woman said that he touched her and he said, oh, we experienced it differently.
These are not the actions of a feminist.
This is performative nonsense at its worst.
But let's put that aside for a second.
Let's put the lack of self-awareness
to the side for a second.
If you don't think that Trump's team
is listening to everything you say in the gear up, in the lead up to the negotiations, you're a fool.
And what you just said is, first of all, you minimize his election win.
That always goes well when people minimize his accomplishments in his head.
That always goes well. But you blamed it on all the sad nonsense
that the left has been peddling in the United States. As Bill Maher said, it's no surprise
a party that views everything through the lens of sexism and misogyny and racism would blame
their loss on sexism, misogyny, and racism. You just made everyone's life harder, Justin.
You just made everyone's life harder.
And you know whose life is going to be really hard today?
Yours, sir, when you walk into that meeting with the premiers
because they are going to give you an earful.
How was that helpful to the biggest issue facing your government
as it relates to our economy?
How is that helpful? I know you were in a room of people that you think love you,
and you're going to throw red meat at them. I'm a feminist. And oh, he won the election
because of misogyny. A grade 12 student could give a better account of what happened that election
than you did in your speech. And you've been prime minister of this country for nine years.
You know, I should have been taking calls. I totally forgot to take calls. Let's start taking
calls on this 416-870-6400 or 1-888-225-TALK is 4 1 6, 8, 7, 0 6,400. I'm sorry. I just got,
I went down the rabbit hole there guys, but I'd love to hear what you have to say.
This is, I mean, how can Justin Trudeau with a straight face say things that are demonstrably
false when his own actions tell a different story, But more importantly, because that we already know,
that part is baked in. How is this going to help in these consequential, meaningful negotiations that could affect everything and everyone? Or maybe he doesn't care. Maybe he's lighting the
house on fire on his way out the door, and he going to leave it to pierre to figure out how to put out the flames 416-870-6400 or 1-888-225-TALK as i said the text line is 416-870-6400
yeah they had an opportunity to elect a a female president but she was a flawed candidate the lack of nuance the the sheer simpleton analysis
of why kamala harris lost it i mean makes me think he didn't listen to a word that came out of her
mouth or studied any of her policies it's just it's just nonsense hey let's go to kyle kyle when
you heard that clip in the with the backdrop of these negotiations, what did you think?
I think not just because of this, but just accentuated by this.
He is an absolute fool.
And we're about to go into negotiations with a 200-pound gorilla, and he's throwing stones at him.
Like, this guy's a fool. He can't wait.
I cannot wait until he leaves.
But I just, I'm afraid he won't be out soon enough,
and he's going to burn down the house, as you mentioned earlier.
He's going to burn down the house on the way here.
And he has absolutely no self-reflection.
And the reason Kamala Harris lost is one of the reasons why Trudeau is going to lose.
So he is a fool.
Yeah, she was a bad candidate.
Put everything else aside.
Thank you very much.
Let's say hi to James.
Good morning, James.
Welcome to the Ben Mulroney Show.
Good morning.
Ben, I think you're right.
I think he just caters to his base, and he just doesn't care.
And it's a shame.
It's a shame because, you know, he caters to his base, and I think he should be a shame because you know he cares to his base
and I think he should be a prime minister
for all not just his base
and Ben
I think you should run
I think you'd be great in politics
James thank you very much
I enjoy chirping from the cheap seats
as I like to say
hey good morning to you Max
welcome to the show
Ben good morning I love the fact that I keep getting through you, man. It makes my drive so much more
powerful. Well, thank you. So like, honestly, man, it's one thing to sit here and make jokes
about the prime minister, which is easy to do. But this is no joking matter. This is deathly
serious. This could affect this could affect jobs. This could affect the economy. This can
affect people's livelihoods. this could affect people's lives.
And he is being very cavalier.
And this is precisely to my point.
And I mean, it sounds dystopic to say it this way.
We need that long lasting damage to happen.
And I know that might be an unpopular opinion.
People need to remember this election cycle coming coming the next and the next four after
that this is what happens when you elect liberals it's not just four or five years of discomfort
and policy and bad relations with the u.s it is long-standing withstanding damage that these
people do but look and max to be to be fair to the electorate is yeah we gave him a majority
the first time but the last two times he received a minority, he wised up after the second minority and said, no, no, no, that's not good enough for me.
And cobbled together a coalition, which has allowed him to govern as if he had a majority, which I think is it's not it's not anti-democratic.
But the result, I think, is a toxic resentment in the people for this government.
And in and they're going to feel it at the polls.
But we are going to feel it as an economy before we hit the polls.
And it's going to only get worse for him if he continues with this nonsense.
Thanks for the call.
And let's say hi to Dan.
Hey, Dan.
Good morning.
It was a good morning until you got my blood boiling on this.
We're so in sync.
He is burning the bridge down the road
down he's putting salt on it as he's leaving as he's leaving yeah he is this is this is what what
ego and he's a child literally a boy with no experience to be making these statements
falling into every trap and taunt that Trump is putting out there and exposing us.
Like just setting up the negotiating table all at the weakest position.
He ran there like a simp, like 24 hours after Trump made the threat of the terrorists.
And now he's making this statement, which alludes to name calling on Trump,
is the whole reason why he won his
election was he was so, all the name-calling that they gave him, he's just falling right
into the trap. Yeah, I agree. He's exposing us to a lot of potential damage. Hey, thank you so much.
Welcome back to the Ben Mulroney Show. Donald Trump has been taunting our prime minister on
social media for a while now, and it looks like it's gotten under his skin to the point that trudeau took to the stage and um gave it right back to donald trump especially
undermining the value of his mandate uh saying that if sexism misogyny played a role in it
that's not that's going to land really well with the guy he should be negotiating with about these 25% tariffs.
I think it was prideful.
I think it was myopic.
I think it was short-sighted.
I think it was dangerous.
And I think it could lead to a very difficult negotiation.
And he should be ashamed of himself for behaving in such a petty, petty way.
Let's see what you guys think.
Welcome to the show, Peter.
Peter, what say you?
Hey, good morning, Brent.
Good morning.
You know what?
Your previous caller, I think, just kind of stole my thunder by calling him basically a man-child.
And this guy's just throwing a tantrum right now.
And I get it.
You know, we have to wait for an election before we can bring about any change. And I've always had the conversation with people saying how he could still cause a lot of damage before he goes.
But I didn't see this one coming. No, neither did I. This guy, he's destroying us. We're going to
have to deal with this. Donald Trump is predictable. Donald Trump is consistent. You know what you're
going to get. He is a known
quantity and you know that once he gets a joke in his head, he's going to keep using it to be so
prideful and to fall into that trap and to lose whatever moral high ground you think you have.
He's behaving exactly as he does. He thinks that because he over enunciates and he's got great
diction that somehow this is different than the way Donald Trump behaves. You are waiting in
and insulting out the other guy. That's what you're doing. Except we don't have any cards to
play here. Anyway, thank you very much, Anusha. Thank you for your call. You actually think
Donald Trump's being, Trudeau's being courageous. Yes, I think so. Because, you know, for one,
he's standing up and why should we always cave into what Trump is saying or, you know, his actions?
We don't have to react to that. And we can we can put our foot down and say, you know what?
This is Canada. We're Canadians. We're not afraid of you.
I think that's what Trudeau is doing. And, you know, if he slashes the tariffs, that's OK.
We'll find a way. We'll show them we're Canadians. We can survive.
I mean, I appreciate how bullish you are on Canada, but certain realities you can't get around.
You can't get around how much we depend on this country.
And I don't know that Justin Trudeau making himself feel good by pumping his chest is worth 25% tariffs on everything that goes across the border.
Now, I'm not saying that's automatically going to happen, but do we really want to take that risk?
Like, honestly.
And why should we as a country?
Because you were offended that he called you the governor?
Get over yourself.
We got bigger fish to fry.
Eyes on the prize.
Jim, welcome to the show.
Good morning, Ben.
Good morning.
Ben, Trudeau will go down as the worst prime minister in the history of Canada.
This guy is the most frustrating politician I've ever seen in my 56 years of being Canadian.
Yeah, yeah.
Listen, you can make a very good case for that you really can this is
but this is so petty and it is so based on ego without any regard for the job you actually have
bite your gd tongue get to work and solve this problem and And, and by the way, I think you owe it to Canadians
to explain how you feel that that speech and that comment gets us to where we need to be as a
country. How does that help us in this negotiation? Explain it to us chapter and verse, explain it to
me like I'm a frigging idiot because, uh, because the way I i see it that only hinders our ability to negotiate
thank you very much for your call let's welcome mary to the show
good morning ben it's wonderful to speak to you live on radio thank you mary for taking my call
um the unfortunate thing about our prime minister is that he doesn't um uh and emphasize how canada has had females women
in politics for decades yeah we've had a female prime minister we've had and have female premiers
mayors women in government on all levels count uh city counselors town counselors instead he
decides to antagonize the incoming president of the United States.
And also, Mary, if I can add,
forgetting that Mexico has a female president
for the first time.
Yes.
So his speechwriters,
because Trudeau can't think for himself,
he just reads off a script,
his speechwriters are what's ruining
the image, his image,
and the liberal government.
Yeah. No no thank you very
much mary i appreciate it uh let's welcome um gordon to the show gordon welcome to the show
good morning ben um it's just we have to look at his own record with his own cabinet
over the years uh jody raybould was one of his proudest moments as a gender guy and then when
she stood up against him for justice and law, look how he treated her.
She had to leave.
He totally went after her and she was in the right and he was totally in the
wrong.
And she was an Aboriginal woman.
So any woman that believes that this guy is gender biased is whatever he's
treated all the women,
most of the women in his cabinet.
If it's true,
he's going after Freeland just goes to show he shouldn't even be on that
stage. Thank you very much, Gord. he's going after Freeland, just goes to show he shouldn't even be on that stage.
Thank you very much, Gord. Let's
welcome David to the show.
David, what are your thoughts?
Do you think this was a smart move?
He might as well just...
First off, people have to get
real. This isn't just an imbalance
of power. It's a massive imbalance
of economic power. Only 1.4%
of their GDP is Canada.
That's like a three-month blip.
We'll bounce back as Canada. You're talking
over 40%. 40%
of our total GDP is with the Americans.
What are you going to do? Cut out 40%
of our business? You don't just
take it. You take
a knee. You kiss the ring. You
bow down. This is not a fight
we can win. It's not even a fight we should be
even embracing at all.
And I'm a proud Canadian, too.
There's something about pride. Oh, he's standing up for Canada.
No, he's not.
No, he's not.
40% of our GDP,
you see 10 people in a room.
More than 5 of them will be without a job.
And the ripple on effects from everything, we're dead in the water.
People have no concept.
David, the Trump team is listening to everything that's coming out of Canada right now.
Everything.
If you don't think this pinged on their radar, you're not paying attention.
Thank you very much.
Hey, let's welcome Ray to the show.
Good morning, Ray.
Thank you for calling into the Ben Mulroney Show.
Yeah, I just wanted to say that, I don't know about the last guy with the 1%.
Canada's banking system controls like over a quarter to a third of their banking system.
Our banking system is huge in the United States.
Hydro-Quebec, they depend on Hydro-Quebec.
They get like over 25% to 30% of their power from Quebec. You know,
they get 90 percent of their foreign oil from Canada. You know, Canada has a big impact in the
United States. That's what the prime minister is supposed to be talking about. We're both each
other's largest trading partners. You know, the main thing here, the main thing here, though,
with all the stuff I'm saying is defense and nobody in
the canadian media is talking about the big picture and the big picture here is defense oh i am i
promise you i've been talking about it no you are you are you're one of the only ones and and
mercedes stevenson on on global news the canadian media does not care about defense. That's what it's all about.
What Trudeau forgets is in this negotiation, Donald Trump has some very valid points.
We have been skating on our comfort, our comfortable relationship with the United States for so long that we are like, no, we don't have to live up to our obligation to NATO. The Americans will take care of that. And they won't mind if we insult them all the time, that we look down our noses at them and we we we we stereotype them in our speeches and we use them as boogeymen to get our liberals reelected.
They won't mind that.
Well, Justin, Justin, you just met your worst friggin nightmare in Donald Trump and he's calling you on your guff.
