These days, it feels like everywhere you turn,
someone's got a new theory on how to improve your mental health.
From ice baths to meditation apps,
there's a lot of noise out there about what's supposed to make you feel better.
But the truth is, finding what actually helps you isn't always that simple.
When it comes to mental health, there is no one-size-fits-all solution.
That's why speaking with someone who is trained to listen and to help,
someone who can meet you where you are and help you figure things out,
can make such a difference.
Trust me, I know what I'm talking about.

Welcome back to the Ben Mulruni show.
We are closing out this final.
episode of, I guess technically it's still going to be summer, but really summer ends when
the kids go back to school and that happens after this long weekend.
So we're ending this with a great friend of the show, a very important man in this country.
Pierre Polly of the leader of the opposition.
Pierre, welcome back to the show.
Thank you so much for joining us.
Great to be with you, Ben.
So you made a very big announcement and I think a lot of people, I mean, the timing of it is
very fortuitous because a lot of people across this country,
are having a conversation about Castle Law.
Do we have, we do not have the right as it stands to defend our homes against invaders.
And the example was laid bare this week when a man in Lindsay, Ontario, was trying to defend
his house from a home invader, and he was arrested himself because he was deemed to have used
too much force.
This flies in the face of human biology, the fighter flight response, the desire.
of parents to do anything and everything to defend their kids.
So what are you proposing?
Well, what I'm proposing is that your home is your castle.
And conservatives are calling for what we call the Stand on Guard Act.
And it would allow people to stand on guard for themselves and their families
when someone invades their home and threatens their safety.
it would create a presumption in the criminal code
that if you are acting against someone who
illegally and uninvited enters your home
and threatens your family
that any action or force you take against them
is reasonable and lawful.
So right now, the way the law works,
section 34 of the criminal code,
is that there is a complicated nine-step test
that is full of confusion
that allows police, prosecutors, and judges
to use their own discretion.
Judging after the fact,
a decision that was made by someone
who was obviously terrified
by the presence of an invader
who could kill their kids.
That is why we've had cases where,
you know, people have been charged,
even when they were doing the right thing.
This, my approach, the conservative law, stand on guard, says, if someone is in, A, invaded your
house, B, threatens your family, then you can take any action against them that you deem necessary,
including lethal action. Yeah. And it will be presumed lawful. And I'll tell you, first of all,
Pierre, I think this is, this is a very reasonable tweak to the criminal code. The fact that we know
there is going to be pushed back from anyone speaks to how far gone we've gone down a rabbit
hole in terms of making excuses and allowances for anybody but the victim in this country.
So that's a whole problem.
But if this change happens and a home invader goes into some guy's house and that person
takes every means to defend his home up to up to and including lethal force, if that happens
and this is tested in court and this guy is not arrested,
you're going to see a lot of people who were considering,
we're considering home invasion who are going to think twice
because if they know that the person that they're invading
could conceivably end their life,
the risk to their person is going to go up
and all of a sudden in the cost-benefit analysis of doing that crime,
they might not do it.
That's right.
And they shouldn't.
they should, you should know, if you go into, you break into someone's house, anything that
happens to you is your own fault.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Killed, you could be harmed.
But it's your fault, if you're breaking into someone's house, if you don't want to be
harmed or killed, don't break into someone's house.
That's the message of the stand on guard law.
And under the liberals, after 10 years of liberal laws, criminals are treated like victims,
and victims are treated like criminals.
Yeah.
That's what conservatives intend to reverse with this law.
And by the way, it's only the beginning.
We're also proposing three strikes you're out, free violent or serious offenses.
You go to the slumber for 10 years.
Life means life.
No bail for repeat offenders.
No parole, no probation, no house arrest, walk them up, throw away the keys.
Have you, as your side had any conversations with the government on any of these issues yet?
I mean, do you know whether there's a receptive ear on the other side of the aisle?
Not so far. I mean, look, we've been proposing these things and having them voted down now for years.
So, you know, the liberals brought in these laws. We know they support them.
You know, Mark Carney favors the liberal approach to criminal justice, and they had shown no interest in reversing it.
Of course, they made some election promises, but what we're learning from Mark Carney is that he is a walking, talking, broken promise.
All of that being said, Ben, if Mark Carney wants to work with me to pass the stand-on-guard act,
I will be happy not only to work with him, I'll be happy to let him have the credit.
Mark Carney, steal my idea.
And I'll give you a big ad in the back.
You're the open-source opposition.
Anybody can claim it and use it as their own.
I want to talk about another story that we highlighted on this show yesterday.
There was a gentleman, say gentleman, there was a criminal.
He was caught trying to abduct two women, throw them in the back of a van.
And had that happen, had he succeeded, we never would have seen these women again.
I was being cavalier, but I suggested they would have been in a container ship on their way to Dubai.
And that's it.
We never would have seen them anymore.
This man was found and convicted.
And once they went to his home, they found all sorts of illegal guns that he's not supposed to own that were supposedly banned.
And he was punished with an ankle bracelet.
So he wanted to deprive two women of their freedom forever, and we as a country decide that his punishment would be for him to enjoy his freedom.
Oh, not convicted yet.
Why he's been charged, but rather than spend a minute in jail, we gave him an ankle monitor.
This is another thing up here that the liberal government is going to have to address.
Well, they did address this.
they created this.
Let's not pretend that the system just broke itself.
The Liberals passed Bill C-75,
which brings in the principle of restraint
requiring judges to release accused
under, quote, the least, onerous conditions
at, quote, the earliest opportunity.
That is a liberal law.
Is a liberal law, C-5,
that requires judges give violent, repeat offense,
House arrest. They can serve in their living room. These are liberal laws. And Mark Carney
has been prime minister for five months. Instead of working the summer to fix the liberal mess,
he's kept it all in place and all of these crimes are happening because of liberal politicians.
And it's no longer talk about the system or anything else. It's not the system. It's the liberal
laws that are causing this. And the only way to fix it is by passing conservative laws to
to reverse them.
Lastly, I want to talk to you about two stories,
and we don't have a lot of time,
so I'm going to go through them very quickly.
We hear about essence,
the massive Montreal e-commerce site
that's going to file for protection against creditors.
And then we hear about the Diageo move out of Amherstburg,
outside of Windsor,
that's going to cause 200 jobs to go up in flames.
Both can be traced to Donald Trump's tariffs.
Wondering what your take is on both those stories
in just about a minute or so.
Well, we need to take emergency action
to open our country for business.
We can't rely on the Americans anymore.
That's why I'm proposing the Canadian Sovereignty Act
that will put us back in the driver's seat of our economy
by repealing all of the liberal anti-energy laws,
rapidly approving construction on pipelines, ports, power lines,
LNG plants, nuclear plants.
It will eliminate capital gains tax
when people reinvest their money,
here in Canada. It will unlock more production of our oil and gas. It will cut taxes on
keeping technology and technology companies in Canada. It will do all of those things.
Again, I'm asking Mark Carney to steal this latest conservative idea. Put it in place. I'll
give you credit. Let's put our country first. Enjoy the long weekend. I know you got a long road ahead.
September 15th, the House comes back. Thank you very much for your time. Pierre. Have a wonderful
long weekend. Enjoy your Labor Day.
When I found out my friend got a great deal on a wool coat from Winners, I started wondering.
Is every fabulous item I see from winners?
Like that woman over there with the designer jeans.
Are those from winners?
Ooh, are those beautiful gold earrings?
Did she pay full price, or that leather tote, or that cashmere sweater, or those knee-high boots, that dress, that jacket, those shoes, is anyone paying full price for anything?
Stop wondering, start winning.
Winners, find Fabulous for less.
