All right, so with the conservative loss in the federal election, a lot of questions are
now being asked about the viability of Pierre Poliev as the leader of the party moving forward.
Now is the time to ask those questions.
Now is the time to have those honest conversations about whether or not there was enough to hang
their hat on as a party and build on it with Pierre Poliev or whether
he is, as my dad used to say in politics, a spent force.
I believe that he's done enough to earn the right to stick around, but I'm not one of
the people in charge of making that decision.
However, there are a couple of people who are adding their voices to their displeasure
of Pierre Poliev and how he ran his campaign and how he has, how he's acted as the de facto
leader of the conservative movement in Canada.
And those two voices are the Ontario Premier Doug Ford and Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston.
You'll remember during the campaign, if you were looking for it, if you were paying attention,
then you probably saw rifts and breakdowns in communication between the progressive conservatives
in Ontario and their federal analogues in the Conservative Party. You saw that Doug Ford didn't endorse Pierre. You saw
that his, with the exception of my sister, I don't believe that a lot of the
MPPs did any work on behalf of the Conservative campaign. And you saw Doug
Ford say some very nice things about Mark Carney during the campaign.
Well, now that the campaign's over,
the knives are out and here's what Doug Ford had to say about Pierre Poliev after his defeat.
Last time I checked, Pierre Poliev never came out in our election.
Matter of fact, him or one of his
lieutenants told every one of his members,
don't you dare go out and help the PCs.
This is not ironic.
But anyways, I'm not going to dig deep into
this.
The people spoke.
And I have no say in who people vote for.
PREMIER DOUG FORD, REPORTER, FEDERAL
MINISTER, FEDERAL MINISTER, FEDERAL MINISTER, FEDERAL MINISTER, FEDERAL MINISTER, FEDERAL MINISTER, FEDERAL MINISTER, FEDERAL MINISTER, FEDERAL you've said before you're born with a C stamped on your forehead, you talked about having a blue side on your lawn.
Why is there so much bad blood between you and
the federal party and how does the federal
party start to build bridges now within the
conservative movement as they look to the next
three, two, three, four years?
Well, all they have to do is make a phone call.
I like a lot of the MPs.
But the people spoke.
And they spoke loud and clear. They spoke loud and clear. four years? Well, all they have to do is make a phone call. I like a lot of the MP MPs, but the
people spoke and they spoke loud and clear. They spoke loud and clear in our election and they
spoke loud and clear on the federal election. All right, so that was Doug Ford. Here's Tim Houston,
the leader of the conservative government in Nova Scotia. You'll remember when Pierre made his one stop in
in that province, Tim Houston did not appear on stage with him. Here's what he
had to say. Part of it reading into your release of that video was that you it
came out when Pierre Poliev was visiting Nova Scotia for his one campaign stop
here. Should anything be made of the the timing of your release? I think it was
just a pure coincidence.
Are you learning from Riff between you and Polyev?
Were you unable to work with him in a certain capacity?
I don't think Riff would be a...
Like, I didn't have a relationship with him.
I don't have a relationship with him.
Obviously, during our campaign, there was a situation,
I think the Globe story was pretty accurate. is that something that happened there that kind of probably had ramifications on
both sides.
But look, I think I've always been clear, like I got the best job in the world.
There's a great province, tons of potential.
I love it.
Look, you can't say that what these guys are saying is wrong.
This is what they see.
This is what they feel.
And Pierre Poliev, if he wants to hold on to his job,
he has to take these men at their word,
whether or not what they said was appropriate
or the timing was right, he has to listen to them.
And you'll remember, Jamil Javani,
who got elected under the Pierre Poliev banner,
had some very choice words on the night of the election
for Doug Ford. So this leads me to the calls. Give us a call here
at the Ben Mulroney show. I want to hear from you. It looks like there is a
conservative civil war looming and I want to know whose side you're on. Give
us a call and let me know. Jamil Javani had nothing good to say about
Doug Ford with whom he he used to work. And so are you team Pierre or you team Doug?
Mario, welcome to the show. Mario, welcome to the show. Hi, I'm disgusted with Doug Ford.
Jamil Javani is my hero. Doug Ford, I didn't vote during the last provincial election because he
did not have to call the election. He could
have used that money and put it to health care. The same with the $60 license plate fees. He
could have put it into the health care. Next. Okay. When, when Pierre Pauliev gets asked a question,
his eyes look directly at the person asking the questions. Carney's eyes are all over the place.
You can't trust them.
Mario, thank you very much for the call.
Thank you for your input.
Let's turn the microphone over to Chris.
Chris, welcome to the show.
Hey, man, I love this show.
Thank you.
So there is a major problem with the Federal Conservative Party.
So I personally like Pierre.
I was one of his first supporters.
I kind of check in here and for the leadership. However, he has turned off women.
And what I would like to see is the toxic nature of Jenny Burns and Bernie tonight
need to go as well. I'm telling you right now, I want to be your sister,
Caroline Rooney. I'm telling you, I'm going to check for her to run for leadership.
If you want her to run, you're going to have to convince her because I tell you, I've had some
conversations with her and I think she's very happy with where she is. Thank you very much.
We need her. We need her.
Thank you very much for the call, my friend. Hey,
Gus, welcome to the Ben Mulroney Show. Team Pierre or team Doug?
Neither of them. I think they all got to go because not one of them has made any progress.
Even Doug, especially Doug, because I'm the supporter. But right now he's done nothing.
Seven years, we haven't increased the amount of doctors. We haven't even
addressed the issue in a clinical way so that people can understand the issues because the
politicians don't want the people to understand the issues.
Yeah. Listen, they don't, they don't. I mean, it's a per capita issue, which means they
have to kill a bunch of federal or provincial ministries and put the money in healthcare
But they don't want to do it the conversations I've had with people in the government
Said to me good luck because we're worried about how many votes we will lose Gus
I'm gonna have to leave it there. I got a lot of people lined up
They want to voice their opinion as well George welcome to the show
Hey Ben, how you doing? I'm well, I'm well.
So what team are you on?
I'm on team Paulie of all the way.
You know what?
I'm a conservative, always have been a conservative back to your dad's years.
And I think the only time I wasn't was with his replacement because of Bill C-17.
But other than that, I've always been a conservative and doctor dog ford is no conservative
he he's trying to show is
is conservative uh... side yesterday by screaming about the judges and
everything else but you know what he's been in their seven years
and he's done nothing he's done nothing that makes me think that he's a
conservative
well thank you for george thank you very much for the call thank you for the
perspective and let's uh... turn the mic over to anna and i think so much for calling what. Thank you for the perspective. And let's turn the mic over to Anna.
Anna, thanks so much for calling.
What side of the fence are you on?
Team Polio.
And I'll tell you why I'm discussing with Doug Ford because you do not air out your
inter-party grievances out to the public.
That's one thing I will give the liberals.
Oh, yeah.
They do it behind closed doors, not to mention, obviously, both men have two very different
perspectives on conservatism.
Yeah, you're right.
And it is to the detriment of the Tories that they air their dirty laundry publicly.
The liberals never, as I pointed out, Paul Martin and Jean Chrétien couldn't stand each
other and yet they made it work for years and both of them were successful because of it. Thank you so much for the call. We got time for a
very quick one from Lisa. Lisa, in short order, tell me what side of the fence
you're on. Team Pierre, all the way. Team Pierre, all the way. Hey, thank you very much. Very succinct and I
appreciate it. I thank everybody. Thank you so much. I appreciate everybody's
