This is Nick.
This is Jack.
And this is Snacks Daily.
It is Friday, the Real Friday, September 10th.
I can feel the weekend already.
Jack, there we go.
You know what that is?
Oh!
Actually, it's a polar 100% natural,
Celtsor calorie-free black cherry.
You know, that's a family-owned company out of Busta, Massachusetts.
Non-alcoholic.
Good for the soul.
Good for the microphones.
Snackers, this is the best one yet.
This is the best one yet.
Jack, first story.
What do we got?
In honor of the NFL's kickoff, split-left 90,
Hook and ladder on one.
The NFL's biggest move this season, Snackers?
It was your phone.
That was the move.
For our second story, Facebook wants to be on your face.
True story.
They're not smart glasses, new thing.
They're smart ray bands.
That was a big launch.
For our third and final story,
Lulu Lemon used to be for Peloton.
Yeah, I did.
And Peloton used to be for Lulu Lemon customers.
And they used to spot each other,
but now they're fighting each other.
But Snackers, before we hit those three wonderful stories,
This is a wonderful mix, Jack.
I do have Seltzer all over the microphone.
20 years ago tomorrow.
Yeah, we're never going to forget where we were on September 11, 2001.
I was 13 years old living in Vermont at middle school.
And the school made an announcement I didn't understand until I got home, saw my mom,
and sat in front of the TV the rest of the day.
Yeah, Jack, I was in middle school, in the Bronx.
You could see the smoke coming up from Manhattan.
Didn't they shut down the bridges in the islands?
Absolutely. We were trying to go back. We tried to walk across the Henry Hudson Bridge, shut down. New York City, Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania, and all of America.
And of course, New York City hit the hardest. And New York City someplace really special for Jack and me.
I like to say that humor was invented in New York City. You do. I love how you say that.
I can say that snacks was created in New York City. It was. And so was a certain Nicholas Martel.
It's true. But East 14th Street, that is where snacks began and it will always be special.
to us. Maybe you know someone who was in the towers that day, or maybe you weren't even born
yet that day. Either way, Snackers, it's a big day. But a big takeaway for this 9-11 anniversary coming
up. Jack, you got the takeaway for us. The 9-11 anniversary is actually a day of service. So,
Snackers, here's what Jack and I are thinking. Tomorrow, when you have some time, maybe just a few
minutes, this is what we're hoping you can do. Maybe a volunteer. Yeah. Maybe you can do
what you do, anything you can do that is outside of yourself.
Perfectly put jack.
Maybe you help a neighbor.
Maybe you just call someone you've missed.
Or maybe you just pick up a piece of trash that's on the corner that needs picking us.
Snackers, before we hit these three fantastic stories that we're fortunate to get to do today.
Let's have a moment of silence for those harmed 20 years ago on September 11th.
Let's hit our three stories.
You're tuned in the snacks daily.
We spoke to the lawyers and we got to get something legal out the way.
For snacks about the hair ain't food
It's air candy
They don't reflect the views of the Robberhood family
It's all informational just so

It's not a research report or investment advice
Not an offer or sale of a security

For our first story
The NFL kicks off this weekend
But the highlight of the whole season
is their deal with Verizon.
This is wild.
The NFL doesn't look for sponsors and money.
No, no, no, no.
Sponsors and money look for the NFL.
Oh, hard jack.
Before we have to issue a correction here,
we should point out,
the NFL actually began last night, technically.
Classic Brady.
Messing with this podcast.
Brady's always messing with this.
I don't know what he's thinking.
Well, there's one incredibly annoying fact
about football we need to address.
It's so annoying, it's not even a snack fact.
We don't want to even want to be brand associated with this.
Any professional sports stadium in this country has terrible cell service.
We've all been there.
You want to live stream the waves.
Oh.
But you got no bars.
The NFL is fed up with that just as much as you and me.
They are.
So they just announced that Verizon is treating all 32 NFL stadiums like palaces with 5G service.
Except it's actually, it's 25 stadiums because there are seven stadiums.
We don't know who you are, but you're not going to get this glorious.
gift of powerful 5G.
There's a support group at NFL.com slash still 4G.
But Snackers, as we know, any good partnership has got to be a win-win.
So, Jack, how does this win-win situation work out for the win for Verizon?
All right.
Well, Verizon's going to prioritize NFL stadiums with the rollout of 5G service.
So they're going to make sure that these 25 stadiums have incredible service.
Yeah, 5G being like absurdly fast speeds so that before you even think to call them, you've
already called them.
And they're also doing something with the NFL's app so that when you're in the stadium,
you can open up the NFL app and see the game that's being played from seven different camera
angles and have all the stats you could ever eat.
Total closeups.
You're going to look at the angle.
You're going to see someone's ACL.
It's great news for fans way up in the nosebleed section.
Is that a touchdown or is that a fumble?
People are being loud.
Now, for Verizon, there's a lot of bang to this partnership buck because the 80,000 fans at
the stadium who can afford the $100 tickets, that is the target audience of this marketing deal.
That is a very attractive target audience. And Verizon customers are the only ones who get to
enjoy all this. That's right. So Verizon is hoping to snag some free agents in the crowd who have AT&T
or T-Mobile service. Okay. So we whipped out the whiteboard on that one. That's the win for Verizon.
Jack, what's the win ideally for the NFL? The NFL is probably getting paid a bunch of money by
Verizon. They are getting a lot of money.
money probably. But they also get to combat the urge to watch the game from home instead of going
into the stadium. I mean, fantasy football these days, it requires like a NASA quality computer set up
at your home. You got to watch eight games at once, obsessively tracking everyone on your roster.
So the problem for the NFL is that your living room couch is perfect for watching fantasy football
because you got your TV, your iPad, and your phone all working at once together, one place.
But now with this 5G powered NFL app, fans,
can enjoy live stats and multiple video feeds in the stadium too.
So, Jack, what's the takeaway for our buddies over at the NFL?
The NFL doesn't sell partnerships. Partnerships sell to the NFL.
I mean, everyone wants to be the official blank of the NFL.
That's the life goal.
Microsoft is the official tablet.
Snickers, my favorite candy bar as a kid.
Adorable.
USAA got the official insurance.
That one's coveted.
You want to get that one.
And the reason that.
they all want this is because of the NFL's unmatched visibility and relevance. That's why Snickers
pays a lot of Snickers dollars. Okay. Of the top 100 most viewed TV programs last year,
this is wild. I love how you're setting this up. 71 were NFL games. Wow. That's why the Super Bowl
that's coming up in like six months hasn't even happened has already almost sold out all of their ads.
And get this, they're selling out those ads at an 18% higher price.
than they did last year. The NFL is such a hot commodity. How hot. That the weekend performed at
halftime in the Super Bowl last year for free. He didn't even want to get paid. That's how valuable
NFL airtime is. The NFL doesn't sell partnerships. Partnerships sell to the NFL.
For our second story, Facebook just launched, get this, Rayband Stories, weird name.
Rayband Smart Glass is powered by Facebook tech. Yeah, marketing emphasis though on the Rayband.
In fact, don't even say Facebook.
Oh, wait, Jack, we should sprinkle some context on this.
Smart Glasses, the holy grail of Silicon Valley.
So close.
Yeah.
Yet so far.
So far.
Google Glasses, 2013, right?
You looked like a nerd from Tatween who also casually invaded people's privacy with
the camera.
Snapchat Spectacles 2016.
More stylish, but Snapchat Spectacles haven't caught on.
Behold Snackers, Rayban Stories.
People have heard of these because they got launched yesterday.
Facebook's smart glasses and they have one ultimate goal. This is how Jack and I are seeing this.
Mark Zuckerberg wants to eventually replace your phone with these smart glasses instead.
And this is what he's trying to solve for. The problem is the live in the moment problem of your smartphone.
We've all faced it. Do you see something amazing happening in your life?
Great waterfall. And then you grab your phone to take a picture, you fumble it in your pocket, you ruin the moment.
You're that guy then. So here is what Mark Zuckerberg is sticking in these new smart glasses.
First, you're getting a microphone and a speaker and the ability to tap to record anything.
Thanks to Bluetooth, you can accept a phone call or listen to a podcast with the simple tap on the arm of these frames.
It's Facebook on your face. Here is what also is in these Facebook smart glasses. You're getting two cameras and a flash for dark shots.
Say you're at an aggressive James Taylor concert. Very aggressive. You can post a story live from the
mosh pit, that 15 second story to Instagram, without.
even reaching for your phone. And Jack and I can guarantee you, you'll be the only person doing that
at the James Taylor concert. Now, what's not in these smart glasses, surprisingly, is augmented reality.
Yeah, we were shocked because the Snapchat version is like all augmented reality. That's all it's about.
I thought Facebook would one-up Snapchat by putting a little screen on the lens so that you can
watch a movie wearing your glasses and see the world like Robocop does. Yeah, you want to Robocop this thing.
Snackers, these smart glasses are real. Yeah, they're 299.9.
They are. Six-hour battery life.
Keep going.
You can even get them tinted or untinted for like sunglasses or regular glasses.
But here is what is key about these Facebook glasses.
They're not Google Star Wars glasses and they're not Snapchat's cute little kitty glasses either.
Yeah, they're not ridiculous looking.
No, these are raybands.
These are bona fide raybans in two models.
You got the classic rayband Wayfair look or the more hipster round and meteor look and
both come in six colors. And Jack, we were talking about this, honestly, Zuck looked good wearing
him. I know. It was weird saying this. I hate to say he looked kind of cool on these ray bands.
He did, he did. You wear these things. You basically look like you're one of the Kennedys.
Now, the issue with smart glasses historically is that just like early electric cars, they looked
very flashy and kind of ridiculous. But the benefit of these new Facebook smart glasses,
you totally blend in. You look like Tom Cruise and every moody from the 80s. They just look like
Raybans. So, Jack, what's the takeaway for our buddies over at Facebook? A big reason these might succeed
is Facebook's unbranding of these glasses. Yeah, Snaggers, it's not what's on these glasses.
It's about what's not on these glasses. The word Facebook and the F logo is nowhere to be seen.
Uh-uh. In fact, the Facebook logo, the only time you're going to see it is like in small, tiny font on
the product box. That's it, not on the glasses. It's all Rayban branding all the way. Well, Facebook's
of crypto unintentionally explained why just a few days ago. He said with regards to Facebook's
digital currency they're trying to launch that Facebook has a massive trust deficit and needs the
benefit of the doubt from the public. So Facebook partnering with Raybans, that may get people to
finally try smart glasses. But erasing the Facebook brand from the product may get people to actually
keep them and use them. Facebook unbranding. For our third and final story, we had a one
Wild showdown yesterday. Lulu Lemon and Peloton just announced offensive moves against each other.
We got ourselves a showdown. Yeah, we do, Jack. Lulu Lemon stock, first of all, you're going to hurt yourself.
All right, sit down, stretch before you do something like this. Tell us, warn us.
Lulu stock jumped 11% yesterday to a brand spank and new all-time high. And the reason, Jack, why the surge in this stock?
Literally, men in tights. Yeah, Lulu Lemon is going to apparently double.
it's men's business way sooner than they expected.
This is the comfort economy.
If you're going back to work, leave your khakis in the storage unit.
Wear stretchy pants instead.
Full disclosure, are you wearing them right now, Jack?
I know you like to wear them.
I'm ensconced in aphleasure at this moment.
Jack wears the Lulu Lemon pants on his body and on his hands.
He wears them everywhere.
I think if Lulu Lemon came out with like a two button suit.
Okay.
I think that could sell.
Let's go three piece, Jack.
Why not?
Get the vest involved.
Snackers, Lulu Lemon thinks.
hit their five-year growth goals, two years faster than expected. They also just mentioned the
fitness tech company they just bought, the $1,500 workout mirrors 30 times in their earnings report.
Now, on the same day, Peloton jumped 10%. This is why this story is so wild. Peloton just announced
they're launching their own apparel brand. It's called Peloton Apparel. And it's inspired by
their Peloton instructors. And they're made with a new breed of stretchy fabric we'd never heard of.
We're talking about stuff.
Material, they only have a name for this yet.
It doesn't exist.
They actually do.
They have fancy names with Peloton in them.
Four proprietary fabrics that are all sweat-wetting, tight, and breathable.
Yeah, for when your sweat is 50% like Dom Parenthood.
That's when you're going to see this.
Now, if you look at the website to, like, you know, browse this apparel.
All the models wearing the apparel are Peloton instructors, you know and love.
Critical part of the marketing strategy, the instructor army is going to don't it in classes.
Ali Love is going to be pushing this hard on social media after her glutes class.
the way, Ouch for Adidas, which we covered on this pot a few months ago, signed a deal to be like
the provider of Peloton branded apparel. And by the way, Ouch for Lulu Lemon, which now has to
count Peloton as its direct competitor. Peloton is officially now an athletic company.
So, Jack, what's the takeaway for our buddies over at Lulu Lemon and Peloton? Good fences make for
good neighbors. No fences means war. Okay, Snackers, this is why we were like, we have to cover
this story today. Lula Lemon is an athleisure company that just entered at-home fitness tech with the
mirror workout mirrors. Peloton is an at-home fitness tech company that just launched as leisure.
Peloton apparel. So both brands just totally encroached on the other brand's turf. Get off my law.
They used to be complimentary, friendly neighbors. They used to wave high. They used to be buddies. This was a
thing. They used to send each other holiday cards every year and ask how the kids are doing.
They're direct competitors in their two core industries.
So over the next coming years, we're about to see a great case study of neighbors turned foes.
Yeah, which new product resonates more with an existing customer?
Tech part or the apparel part?
Jack, can you whip up the takeaways for us before I finish this seltzer?
Verizon is treating NFL fans as 5G VIPs this season.
Because honestly, there's nothing as close to the marketability of the NFL.
Facebook smart glasses are here for sale right now.
But they're called Rayban stories because Facebook unbranded them.
Lulu Lemon and Pelotod used to be friendly neighbors.
But the fence is gone, so now it's worth.
Now, time for our snack fact of the day.
This one tweeted in by Kyle Smith from lovely Los Angeles.
You may be enjoying some buttery, salted corn on the cob.
I like we did there.
Last cob of the season.
That's what we got going on.
Some kernel is probably stuck in your teeth.
You're looking for a placar right now.
But here is the wild thing about corn that you should appreciate.
corn is a veggie and it's a fruit and it's a grain all at the same time.
That's right.
It's not just a vegetable because we eat the seed.
It's also a fruit.
And because those seeds are kernels, they're not just fruits and veggies.
They're also grains.
Corn, vegetable, fruit, grain.
Father, mother, lover.
Snackers, you look fantastic this week.
Jack, first week back, we got to do this again next week.
This has been great.
This has been great.
Snackers, have a fantastic weekend.
Snack and Wants. We'll see you on.
And before we go, a shout out to Snacker Daniel Rodriguez, who's also from Los Angeles.
This guy's attention to detail spotted a correction in yesterday's pod so early.
So we think he was the only one who heard it.
So we corrected it thanks to his instant DM. Thank you, Daniel.
Congrats to Levi and Chelsea, who just completed half marathons, which I think means they
completed one full marathon together.
That's correct.
Congrats to UTang E&E, who just got a real estate license.
and Jose Flores, who just started his dream job over at Tesla.
Congrats on getting married to Chi Ming and Vanya in Taiwan.
And Chirag and Patel, they went to the same elementary school,
and now they're engaged over in Brooklyn.
Good luck and congrats to Anson Cole,
the Warren Buffett of Santiago, who just started sophomore year in Chile.
Chris and Yang Yang, congrats on the new baby, Kianu over in Connecticut.
Kianu.
Congrats to Brenna and Matt, who just had a new baby, Lily, in Minnesota.
And happy birthday to Noah Gaults in.
Anchorage, Alaska. And Noah Bartos in Denver, Colorado. And Jessica Lamb on the Upper East Side,
happy birthday. And Jamie Prince in Salt Lake City, Utah. And Junk Woon, Newt, over in Union City, New Jersey.
Ernie Rodriguez, happy birthday in Savannah, Georgia. And happy birthday, Paul Thalman in Whedon, Illinois.
