This is Nick. This is Jack. It's Friday, the real Friday. February 10th, and today's pod is honestly, truly the best one yet. It's such a T-boy. Thank God, it's T-Bore. The pods of T-boy, and we got our weekly quiz. Jack, what's our first story?
The Super Bowl is going to look a lot different compared to last year. Crypto is benched. Cognac is in.
For our second story, Disney, just gave us the darkest update we've ever seen from the Magic Kingdom. Honestly, this was the earth.
Of earnings reports.
And our third and final story is Taco Bell.
They just told us that Kim Kardashian's ex has saved their breakfast menu.
Because breakfast is a repeat rabbit.
Are we saying a repeat habit rabbit?
I don't know.
Are we just going to do repeat rabbit?
But you're confused which of Kim's exes we're referring to, aren't you?
Yeah, you are.
And we did it on purpose.
But Yeties, before we hit that mysterious mix.
This is just a great mix today, Jack.
Big question if you're hosting the Super Bowl party on Sunday.
Yeties, Jack and I got a question.
And we think you know what that question is going to be.
Are you going to Venmo your guests?
Great to have everyone over.
If you could send $55 to at Nick Martel, that would be fantastic.
underscore Nick Martel.
Because meat, fish, fruit, veggies, plates?
Jack, all those prices are up 8% from last year.
Don't even get us started on the silver.
Beer is up 11% on average from last year.
Juice, it's up 13% on average from last year.
Who brings juice to a Super Bowl party, Nick?
You don't want to be that guy with the extra pulp.
But Yeties, we come with some fantastic.
food news today. Besties, we come with some news so good, you're going to need an extra napkin.
Chicken wing prices are down. We repeat, we repeat, wing prices are down from last year.
The price per wing has fallen 12% from last year's Superbass. I mean, Jack, grab the eraser. We
got to take buffalo wings off the hoarder's almanac. That's right. We're no longer in a state of wing
emergency. Yeties, you can devour that drumstick fully guilt-free. Oh, you're not satisfied with a
price drop? Maybe you're a vegetarian. You want more good food news? Well, avocado prices are down 20% too.
Okay, we repeat as well. Avocados are now on the sale rack. Now, we should clarify,
guac is still extra. Yeah, but it is a little less extra than it was last year. So drop the dips.
Forget the queso yeti. This year, yeties just serve up some wings and guac. Not a classic
combo? But it is the financially responsible thing to do. Oh, and there's emojis for both wings and guac, so you can
Venmo people. Spoiler, you're going to
Venmo them. Jack, let's hit our three stories.
Throw it at 11% surcharge
for yourself as the home. That'll be a 20%
tip. Fifteen years before
this song, two boys from the Northeast
met in the dorm. They had an idea
that caused a cultural storm. It's the 50%
that's a fat tip. Tea Boy
City on your at list. If you
know, you know, because we're ready to go.
We can't wait no more, so just start the show.
For our first story, the Super
Bowl is this weekend, but Jack and I
want to talk about the
commercials. Because Super Bowl ads are an investment in sentiment. Perfect timing for this story.
Actually, perfect timing for the story in a bunch of ways. Because we just got a financial scoop on the
Super Bowl earlier this week. Yetis, Fox is going to broadcast the Super Bowl this Sunday.
And they just reported earnings and their stock jumped 4%. How timely. Why? Because the CEO of Fox
forecasted record Super Bowl ad spending this year despite flat viewership expectations.
Okay, Yeties, Fox is going to bring in 600.
million in revenue in those four hours that you're watching on Sunday.
$600 million.
Jack, how much did Jeep just spend on that 30-second commercial, my friend?
The most expensive commercial in Sunday Super Bowl is $7 million.
Jack, can you whip out the whiteboard and do a little more math for us over there?
$233,000 per second.
That's right.
To get a Super Bowl ad, you're paying a full Goldman Sachs analyst base salary per a second.
Now, we're seeing contrast here because Snapchat, Google, Facebook, they've all reported that their ad sales are slowing or shrinking.
But on the other hand, Jack, old school cable TV is kicking it like it's 1996.
Get me that TV guide.
Get this, Yeties. Fox sold 90% of this weekend Super Bowl ad slots before Labor Day.
Yeties, Super Bowl is advertising's biggest stage.
But the way Jack and I see it, the Super Bowl ads are an investment in sentiment.
You're going to see Clydesdales.
You're going to see talking puppies, probably talking babies too.
And then some child actor you remember for that movie when you were a kid.
Yeah, that's where you're going to see Sunday.
That's what we know we're going to see.
But what interests us more, Jack?
What we won't see.
That's what interests us more.
Because last year, Yetis, we had a very specific name for the Super Bowl.
Last year, Super Bowl was really the Crypto Bowl.
FTX, Coinbase, Crypto.com.
They spent $54 million to pay celebrities.
to go on TV and tell you to buy crypto.
That was the number one ad buyer last year.
But Jack, how many crypto ads are we going to end up seeing this year?
Maybe a few less?
Maybe.
None.
None.
Zero.
We will see zero Super Bowl ads for crypto firms this year.
Matt Damon won't give you a purple nerple if you don't buy Ethereum this year.
And one of the reasons you're not going to see those crypto ads is because we're not seeing
as much crypto and Jack's in my portfolio anymore either, are we?
Bitcoin is down 50% from last year's Super Bowl.
Dogecoin.
Dogecoin.
Now, do you know, just.
I should point out that FTX did buy an ad spot in this year's Super Bowl.
But a judge intervened because, you know, bankruptcy.
Yeah, fortune, it favors the solvents.
So, Jack, what's the takeaway for our buddies over in the Super Bowl?
This year isn't the crypto ball.
It's the biggest ad buyer this year?
It's actually Budweiser.
They're the biggest.
They bought four ads.
They spent nearly $30 million on those ads.
That should be no surprise because Bud is the king of commercials.
But they're not the only adult beverage you're going to see on Sunday.
Because get this, Yetis.
After 33 years, Budweiser is shockingly giving up its exclusivity deal for the Super Bowl.
So for the first time ever, Muls and Coors, Corona, Heineken,
they can suit up the shoulder pads and put on a commercial on Sunday.
Yeties, this is unprecedented.
Like the cognac brand, Remy Martin, or Remy Martin, honestly, we don't really know how to pronounce that
either, they're going to have a Super Bowl ad too.
We just said Yetis that Super Bowl ads, they're an investment in sentiment.
It's true every year.
Well, last year, it was optimistic.
It was frothy.
We all still had that stimulus money.
We were splurging on stuff.
The Crypto Bowl captured that perfect.
Well, this year, there's a little bit of recession paranoia.
There's a little bit of eggflation.
And the war in Ukraine is still rumbling on.
We need a booze ball this year, don't we, Nick?
We're craving a booze ball.
For our second story, Disney just announced their darkest earnings report.
since Jafar.
But that pales to the political target on Mickey's back.
All right, yet he's Nick and Jack with you here.
A little secret we do and we jump in T-boy style.
Sometimes to like understand an earnings report,
we will categorize it as a Disney princess.
Yeah.
And this one, it's not Ariel.
These are Ursula earnings.
Disney just dropped the Ursula of earnings reports,
which means we got to talk about our buddy Bob Iger, Jack.
Bob Iger, the 15-year Disney CEO who returned
from retirement in November, welcome back to Disney.
And in Bob's first earnings call back, he did what Wall Street asked him to do.
The most magical place in the world just shockingly cut 7,000 jobs.
Disney just cut jobs, cut costs, and did a reorganization that puts the creative
storytellers at Disney back in charge again.
He undid all the trademark moves from the previous CEO, from the other Bob.
The other Bob.
Bob Jay Beck.
Now, yet he's here's what Jack and I find fascinating.
about this story. Bob Eiger stressed to investors that streaming is the future. But it's not the
present, apparently. That was the interesting clarification. Because the number of Disney Plus subscribers last
quarter fell from the year before. Yeah, the streamers streaming into Disney Plus dropped by 3 million to
160 million subscribers. And the average subscriber is only paying five bucks a month because Disney Plus is a lot
cheaper outside the United States. And honestly, that's just not enough to pay for all that Disney content.
Not enough.
Baby Yoda, that's an expensive CGI project right there.
And for that reason, Disney Plus lost $1 billion in the last three months.
We think of Disney Plus as a success.
It lost a billion dollars in three months.
Okay, Jack, but that's the Shmovies and that's the shows on Disney Plus.
What about the movies, the big box office, the Hollywood stuff from Disney?
How's that looking?
I'm glad you asked Nick, because Avatar 2 passed Titanic to be the third highest-grossing movie of all time.
Avatar 2, sit down, stand up, sit back down again.
That sounds fantastic.
But we're about to sprinkle on a little asterisk here, aren't we?
Yeah, Blue Avatar 2 was so expensive to make.
The CGI was way more than Baby Yoda.
It's barely profitable.
So, you know what you're thinking.
All that sounds not that great.
But guess what made up two-thirds of Disney's $3 billion in quarterly profit last quarter?
Theme parks did.
Theme parks are the Disney profit puppy.
And guess who took away Disney's theme park autonomy last quarter?
The governor of Florida.
This feels like a takeaway moment.
So, Jack, what's the takeaway for our buddies over at Disney?
Mickey has become politically sticky.
Yeties, Disney's movies are universal.
They are apolitical.
They transcend borders and they transcend cultural divisions.
Disney just announced sequels for Toy Story, Frozen, and Zootopia.
New sequels in 12 languages, Nick.
Sign us up.
But here's the situation.
situation yeties. Disney opposed Florida's controversial bill that limits discussion of LGBTQ subjects in Florida schools.
So Florida state legislature just passed a law that strips Disney's right to self-governance in Orlando, where its theme parks are.
Ipso facto, that means Disney's theme parks are now kind of captive to Florida's conservative legislature.
As Governor Ron DeSantis said on Wednesday, there's a new sheriff in town literally for Disney.
So if Disney says something China doesn't like, it gets banned.
And now if it says something Florida's governor doesn't like, it can get punished here.
Because Mickey has just somehow become politically sticky.
Now a word about our sponsor, Robin Hood.
You can do just about anything from your phone, but some industries, they've just been slow to move.
The finance industry was slow to move from phone to computer and then from computer to app.
Robin Hood wasn't. It's the Silicon Valley-based brokerage that's been updating

For our third and final.
story before the weekend. Taco Bell just had a sales surge thanks to one man, Pete Davidson. Because
breakfast isn't just a profit puppy. Breakfast is a repeat habit rabbit rabbit. It's a repeat habit rabbit.
Are we just going to say repeat rabbit? Which one you want to go with? Repeat rabbit. We could have
discussed before the pop, but I like what we're doing here. I like two words. Like profit puppy,
repeat rabbit. It works. Lost llama. One big happy family.
But yeties, before we go full farm on you, we got to talk about Yum brands, a.k.
K-A can Taco Hut.
You know that sometimes all three of these restaurants are in the same building.
I used to call it triple play when I was a kid.
A beautiful thing when that happens.
Because all three restaurants, KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut are owned by $140 billion
fried food phenomenon company, Yum Brands.
And there's no doubt that everybody loves a fried chicken sandwich or a pizza pizza,
maybe even together.
But Yum Brand stock popped 4% last week thanks to hard tacos, soft tacos, and those medium-spicy
packets at Taco Bell. Yeah, we noticed Taco Bell sales jumped 14% and that was all thanks to Kim Kardashian's
ex-boyfriend. Yeah, of the Pete Davidson variety who just rang the Taco Bell.
Pete Davidson, the SNL star, the native son of Staten Island, a guy who has got quite a dating
street going on right now. Taco Bell did one Pete Davidson commercial last year. That was it. They
just did one. It was in the fall and it drove breakfast sales up 9% this past quarter. We're talking Taco Bell
breakfast burritos, egg stuff, casidias, all those sales jumped 9% thanks to Pete.
Now, yeties, we've said before, it's important that a company knows thyself.
But here's the funny thing, Jack and I noticed.
Taco Bell knows it is terrible at breakfast.
Well, first, let's look at the numbers they reported.
Breakfast only represents 6% of Taco Bell's total sales compared to 25% for McDonald's.
In fact, Taco Bell is so self-aware of how bad they are at breakfast that one of their
executives yesterday apologized.
for how they do breakfast.
An awkwardly high level of self-awareness.
He said they should have just stuck to the basics.
And then he said,
we honestly over-innovated in breakfast.
Did you see that they offered a naked egg taco?
I did see they offer a naked egg taco.
Does that just mean they cracked the egg
and it's not wearing its shell?
Jack, no tacos should ever be nude.
On top of that, Doritos Loco's,
just don't pair with an orange juice like you think they would.
So yet is Taco Bell just bragged that Pete Davidson saved breakfast.
but not exactly.
Jack and I jumped in T-Boystile
and we should sprinkle a little context
on top of that breakfast burrito.
Breakfast sales only rose by 9% last quarter.
That trails the overall 14% growth for Taco Bell.
So what Jack and I are saying
is that Taco Bell's smallest meal breakfast
is still their smallest meal.
It's not growing like the rest of Taco Bell is.
It's their smallest meal and their worst meal.
Hey Taco Bell, would it kill you to make a cold oatmeal for us over there?
What?
I was thinking a cold oatmeal.
oatmeal, maybe with some like coconut milk, some leche?
Is that a Mexican-American cuisine?
That hasn't stopped Taco Bell before, Jack.
So Yo, Kiero, a takeaway for our buddies over a Taco Bell.
Profit puppies are nice.
How about repeat rabbits?
Yiddies, we noticed one credit Suisse analyst yesterday said that breakfast is actually the most
profitable meal of the day for fast food companies.
For a restaurant, it requires the fewest ingredients.
It's the least complex to prepare, and it has the best profit margins.
But the real value to breakfast, it's in the repetition.
It's that breakfast is a repeat rabbit.
You don't always brunch, lunch, snack, dine, or have a late night dinner at the same location.
Honestly, out of all the meals of the day, breakfast is the one you are most likely to eat the same thing at the same place at the same time and do not differentiate.
Four out of five weekdays, I eat the same thing at the same place at the same time with the same baby.
Cough, cough, it's a cold oatmeal.
We're looking at you, Taco Bell.
For restaurants, breakfast.
is a lucrative combination of routine and profit margin.
But tacos, they're not a breakfast item.
It's just not.
But Taco Bell keeps trying to change that
because breakfast is a repeat rabbit.
Jack, can you whip up the takeaways for us for the Real Friday?
The Super Bowl won't have a single crypto commercial.
Because yet is this year's sentiment, it's the booze bowl.
For our second story, Disney's earnings were Ursula, not Ariel.
We're talking job cuts and a reorganization.
Even worse, Mickey has somehow become...
politically sticky. And our third and final story, Pete Davidson is the only reason Yoquiro
breakfast burrito right now. Taco Bell wants breakfast because it's not just a profit puppy,
it's a repeat rabbit. Now, time for the best fact yet. This one set in by Jack and me,
because we wanted to whip this one up for you. Yiddies, the Super Bowl matchup this year
hits a meaningful milestone. For the first time every Yetis, we got two black quarterbacks
facing off in the Super Bowl. We got Patrick Mahomes for Kansas City. Yeah. And Jalen Hertz for Philadelphia.
All right, Jack, can we sprinkle on a little more context here?
It's been 35 years since the first black quarterback started at quarterback in the Super Bowl,
and he won a Super Bowl that year.
Well, this is the first time we're going to have two black quarterbacks in the Super Bowl against each other.
All right, here's the best fact yet about Jalen Hertz, the quarterback of Philadelphia.
He can squat 500 pounds several times.
Well, Jack, everyone likes a Philly cheese steak, but can we talk a little bit about Kansas City ribs?
The best fact yet about Patrick Mahomes, his voice is Kermit the Frog.
Yeties, that's three best facts yet in one.
And it's a win to celebrate before the Super Bowl.
By the way, besties, if you've got the best black history fact yet, we want to hear it.
We want to get it on the pot.
Submit your best fact yet for Black History Month.
We got a link in the episode description.
Honestly, you can record your voice.
Give us a voicemail.
We'd love to get that on the pot.
This is Nick.
This is Jack.
And this is you too.
And this is Pete Davidson.
Yeties, you looked fantastic all week.
Jack.
Are you doing guac and wings?
Gwack and wings.
It's the financially responsible thing to do.
It's the old Venmo combo.
Maybe a little Mexican cold oatmeal while we're at it.
Enjoy the weekly T-Boy quiz, and we'll see you on.
And before we go, congratulations to Yeti's Matt and Rose,
who are getting married at the Margaritaville in Hollywood, California, this weekend.
Happy fifth year anniversary to Timothy and Adrian Schwartz,
who are celebrating in Europe.
And Charlie and Carrie are finally listening to
T-boy together as a couple in Kansas City. Good luck this weekend. And a happy birthday to
Ashrem Shretha from Nepal now living over in Arkansas. Happy 28th birthday to Khaled Blada from Palestine,
now living in North Carolina. And a happy birthday to Max Schuer from the Upper East Side.
And happy 50th birthday to Mary Beth Hennessy Shatter in Ashbury Park, New Jersey. And Chris,
enjoy that birthday all the way in Milwaukee. Happy birthday to Brianna Strauss in Portland, Oregon.
And a happy birthday to Jessica Lou, a little girl celebrating in the Big Apple.
Happy birthday to Joseph Tribriani, celebrating in Naples.
Yeah, we don't know if it's Italy or Florida, but either way, have a blast.
Those are two good places to be.
And a happy birthday to Alex Yorasaki celebrating in the beautiful Joshua Tree National Park.
This is Jack.
I own stock of Disney and Nick and I both own stock of Robin Hood, some Bitcoin, and some Ethereum.
