Starting point is 00:00:00 bestie bestie well no i've got it i've got it on the it's on the outro i just used the one from oh we're not gonna keep doing it no it's on the outro file My name is Justin McElroy, and I know the best game of this all time. My name is Griffin McElroy, and I am the king of all good games. My name is Christopher Plant, and my game is the best game of this week in possibly all time. Wait, am I supposed to go now? Yeah, you're the fourth. Oh, okay. I go now.
Starting point is 00:00:52 Okay. Russ Frustic, great games coming at you. Yeah? I think that was gold, actually. I think we nailed it. This is the besties. This is a besties. This is a podcast made by Vox Games.
Starting point is 00:01:09 I'm the managing editor. Russ and Chris are senior editors. Griffin's our reviews editor. Not even close. He's not. That's not his role. Our chug-a-lug master. He's the deputy of chug-a-lug. Parties. He he's he wears the chuggalug hat and he tells people at the party when they have to slam it down and gulp it up
Starting point is 00:01:31 i am the bong keeper you are the mighty bong keeper uh so so that's what we do that's who we are every week uh we we endeavor to select the best game. Griffin, since you picked the best game last week, why don't you tell us a little bit about our rules? So we are operating under the fiction that Welcome Park was our favorite game of last week. Chris Plant, you picked the best game of last week. I believe that I picked the best best game and it was not a tech demo it was actually a video game called it was called ziggurat which is uh french for pyramid
Starting point is 00:02:14 didn't know that yeah didn't care about that continue why don't you tell us about the rules of the game chris uh the rules of ziggurat or the rules of besties no you dumb the rules of the show we were oh okay so the only rules of ziggurat are shoot them and don't die freaks shoot the freaks uh the rules of besties are as follows uh each uh player of the besties game is given three minutes to present what they believe to be the best game of the week. Following those three minutes, the rest of the panelists are allowed to ask questions and verbally assault the original player. At the end of the show, we crown a game of the week, and we take a short moment to decide if the game of the week is our new reigning game of the year therefore the best game decided by best friends griffin how are we deciding our uh our draft order the order which we get to pick our games and present this week this week i think we should go by uh bmi body mass index lowest to highest oh mine's really low i guess i would start i'm yeah
Starting point is 00:03:28 i think i'm mad skinny i think russ would get to go first and like i'm pretty obviously second i don't mean to call anybody out weight wise i'm just saying i'm gonna bring it home i'm gonna bring it home last then okay fresh dick uh and and russ before you go maybe you should uh say a little bit about yourself Because Some of the listeners They want to know who you are What drives me as a person
Starting point is 00:03:52 Who are you? Hi guys, I'm Russ Frustik I like Games of all sorts Vikings as well I like them too I'm about six foot tall and your weight just so we can like verify your bmi i'm like 140 145 which tells you how low my bmi is wait bmi has to do with
Starting point is 00:04:17 bowel movements right where did you work before box games i was at mtv uh mtv news mtv multiplayer i was running after uh uh it was left by steven totillo and before that was uh ugo.com what do you bench i can sit on benches is that no you lift with the weight that you lift oh the the weight that i lift uh i can wait on benches how much weight can you i don't want to talk about it do we really have to delve into it is a bit of a sore i mean he has finally been able to lift an actual video game controller which is a big deal for him well not the big xbox one not the original xbox one i'm working up to that i'm just imagining 140 pounds you're just like just skin draped over sparrow bones pretty accurate it's kind of there my bones might be hollow but they're effective now russ of course this all has been counting against your time so oh no okay i better
Starting point is 00:05:13 go quick i i kid go ahead three minutes go here we go three minutes so uh the game i'm bringing this week is called waking mars it's an ios game uh from the people that made Spider. So how can I describe it? It's basically there is an astronaut who lands on Mars and things do not go so well. He ends up falling into a crater and needs to find his way out. To do this, he must use his talents as a gardener. Yes, a gardener. Yes, a gardener. To plant different creatures throughout Mars, opening new gates, using their different abilities.
Starting point is 00:05:53 He's got a jetpack. Sort of like Metroidvania meets... What is that game? Harvest Moon. That's all I need. I think Metroidvania meets Harvest Moon is enough for you guys to appreciate how awesome you marry any villagers by giving them lots of milk and onions uh no i don't
Starting point is 00:06:13 think uh no you don't but you do give water to plants so you're giving out the rest of your time yeah yeah i i can see my time too uh? Yeah? Are you shitting me? It's awesome. Did you literally, in the first two weeks of our program, pick a solitaire game and then a gardening game? It's more of a space exploration game that happens to have gardening in it. True or false, are you or are you not my nonny? I might be. I don't want to talk about it but you really should um you know can
Starting point is 00:06:47 you talk about the controls a little bit like what's the yeah yeah so it's all touch controls um great which everyone loves who doesn't like no they they work well you tap to where you want to fly your jetpack around and you hold down the sides of the screen to walk left and right and pretty pretty uh intuitive what kind of art we're talking about oh this is mad good looking art right here let me tell you uh it's weird it's a mix of like paper craft and live action photography so like every time your character's talking it's like a photo of him talking. Wait, wouldn't live action photography be film? No, but it's not moving.
Starting point is 00:07:28 It's not moving, though. They're stills. I got to be honest with you, Fresh. I'm looking at some art online, and this still motion photography you're talking about looks straight up Mavis Beacon. Yeah, but doesn't he look like, I don't know, I think it's the very first Asian-American hero in a video game.
Starting point is 00:07:48 I think that's worth noting. What? That is worth noting. Also, the heavy Mavis Beacon influence is also worth noting, I think. Oh, yeah. Well, why do you say that, Griffin? What makes you say that? Well, it looks, the pictures pictures they look like they're from
Starting point is 00:08:05 mavis beacon like the video because there's an african-american woman featured in the game no i'm talking about the actual quality of these images and there's creepy still faces yeah appear to be from 1993 and they look like bitmaps yeah i uh i gotta be honest with you fresh dick this game actually does sound kind of fun. That's what I'm talking about. It sounds kind of interesting, but we've got a lot of show to get through. Okay. That's understandable.
Starting point is 00:08:32 And a lot of other competitors. But right now, I got to be honest. I kind of like the sound of it. Let me just say one last thing. If you hate Asian-Americans, you'll vote against this game. Do you hate Asian-Americans? Oh, wow. You're playing that card, huh?
Starting point is 00:08:44 I'm just saying griffin and plant we gotta figure out bmi between you guys okay i'm like five foot seven and like 135 pounds are you how do you guys weigh so little well he's he's tiny he's a tiny man i'm saying we all live pretty sedentary lifestyles oh no i i i walk three miles every morning you are kidding me no i wake up and i walk three miles okay who's your nani now justin he's speedwalking do you walk through the malls chris no i don't i don't do you walk to the annie annie's pretzels no do you know what i do i i walk i walk to the World Trade Center every morning. Oh, God. I do. I actually do.
Starting point is 00:09:27 That's haunting. Chris Plant, tell me a little bit about yourself. A little bit about me. I was a freelancer before I came here. I worked for such publications as Everywhere, including Edge. Let's see. One Up, The Daily new york magazine's vulture blog dog fancier you did dog fancy right dog fancy i did dog dog fancy cap monthly hamster daily uh and then before that i worked at uGO as a game editor, and I worked alongside Mr. Frushdick before that. And then I started my business in games with Hard Casual, which was a blog.
Starting point is 00:10:16 It was a very small blog that five people read. It was funny, though. It was, oh, my gosh. When it was good, it was good. Okay, what do you got here's my game of the week because it's it is the game of the week uh it's called ssx and it is about snowboarding on the world's biggest mountains and chasing down griff simmons the meanest nastiest snowboarder on earth and there's no there's no there's no
Starting point is 00:10:47 planting there there's no planting there's no mars there is uh there's run dmc there's dj shadow there's skrillex well uh they're all featured on on the soundtrack are they playable no they're not playable they're musicians they would be terrible on a slope no you're no you are playing you're playing as only the best uh the best car thieves the best runway models the best uh football players who also happen to snowboard when do we get to interrupt him i i think that's well also it has great asynchronous multiplayer but not synchronous multiplayer no just asynchronous and it's great i can see the rest of my time uh so a funny note about the the main villain of the story um all week i've been
Starting point is 00:11:40 seeing people on twitter talk about griff's sick times times and all the dope times that Griff has. People across Twitter were celebrating the amazing scores that Griffin was getting at SSX. I was like, wow, people are really complimentary of his skills. He must really be burning up the slopes. I haven't played SSX yet
Starting point is 00:11:58 because it looks like more of a rental than a buy. I am the mo-cap inspiration for Griff Masterson. For Griff Simmons, that's you. Really, this guy sounds like straight out of Better Off Dead, the skiing movie with John Cusack. Yeah. Is that basically what we're dealing with here?
Starting point is 00:12:23 Oh, I mean, basically that's it. At the beginning of every race, you go, I want my $5! And he shakes his head. It's $2. And then... Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:12:32 Oh, God. Your game is disqualified. I'm sorry, but those are the rules. If you misquote a John Cusack movie, your game is automatically disqualified. I didn't make the rules. You know, I was doing it out of respect for the movie because I know it's trademarked.
Starting point is 00:12:44 And I would like to keep this podcast on the air for as long as possible hypothetical my dad comes over to my house and he sees me playing this snowboard game he says oh son that looks fun i want to bond with you and play this snowboard game with you that game the game doesn't allow for that situation to unfold right it doesn't allow from it does if you if he came over an hour after you left you'd be golden you just can't play ssx with your dad i can't play ssx with my dad ssx with your dad what you would do is you would you would be like his his mentor and you would like at the top of the mountain you'd be like here's how you're gonna do it you're gonna cut some ice and then you're gonna pop some flips and then you're gonna give
Starting point is 00:13:28 old griff a run for his money and then you'd send him down the slopes and then you would compete with his time after he finished respectfully i gotta be honest chris how many ssx games have there been so far i think this is the fifth. Sounds a heck of a lot like four other SSX games that I've played. No, it's nothing like the other SSX games. You can't play this one with your dad. Yeah. Does the other SSX games have Skrillex?
Starting point is 00:13:56 No. I can put a CD in. No, you couldn't. Yeah, try doing that on your PlayStation 2. Let's see you put a CD in while you're playing the game. I have a boombox. Do you no you don't okay i don't but you wish you did i do big time uh so let's take a quick time out right now from all the uh acrimony can we talk about who's winning so far because so far can i play can i play space harvest moon with my dad at the same time i know you can't yeah actually you can't no we're getting ahead of ourselves gentlemen we can't do this in
Starting point is 00:14:31 the middle of the show yeah we gotta wait until the end let's be fair time for building bridges bridge building what's going on with you guys i discovered a new beverage what's that brisk no i may be late to this party because uh i don't know it seems like a pretty i wouldn't say common sense because it is it is like a beverage that an insane person would drink it's you take a red wine and you put some ice cubes in it and then you cut it with uh coca-cola oh so bad wine you're having bad wine no the wine is the wine can be inequality um the coca-cola activates it in a way that i did not know beverages could be activated i realized griffin you're from still country west virginia that's the name of your uh town hometown right
Starting point is 00:15:18 you didn't need to bring that charm down to texas i don't think they needed that i didn't invent it i was i was informed of this beverage by a texan and and honestly it's all i drink anymore yeah hobo high c they call it does it matter name for this yeah that's for for it has the same insane person sangria scum water uh it's it's something kombucha, but it's not kombucha for obvious reasons. Is that the full name? That's kind of lengthy. I got to, I'm in San Francisco right now. I flew over from LA last night.
Starting point is 00:15:56 How are your folksy ways handling the West Coast? Well, at first I was scared by a taxi because I thought it was a big metal cat. But it turned out that it was just a car, so that was okay. I have a radiator in this hotel room. There's no air conditioning here. There is a radiator, though. That makes sense because it's typically, I would say it's more cold more frequently than it is hot on the West Coast. In California.
Starting point is 00:16:28 Yeah, it was, it's kind of, it came on in the middle of the night and it sounded like a, it was like a Skrillex record in the corner of my room. So that was unpleasant. It was a very Skrillex heavy episode. Yeah, it's a lot of skrillex talk did you do anything about it justin yeah i cried myself to sleep and wondered why the robot wouldn't stop shouting at me and you just waited for the drop uh yeah um so unless there's any other business any other personal business anyone wants to address i say we move on to griffin mcelroy
Starting point is 00:17:05 um uh your height and your weight please uh my bmi i actually know my bmi because i went to the doctor a couple weeks ago it's something it's something in the like 27 and 29 range i think is that i'm not sure i don't know i have no metric for i think 30 is the is they call that the danger zone uh but i i'm let's let's let's let's be real careful over these next few seconds about what i'm just saying i'm flying right under the radar um i oscillate i'm i'm the day walker of bmi my game is uh luminous electronic symphony now wait just wait a second because it didn't come out this week that's okay is it okay i don't think it's okay what makes you think it's okay new release there's gonna be some there's gonna be some light weeks in the year that's just the way the time works in those long summer months are we all going to bring
Starting point is 00:18:05 you know the new margaritaville dlc to the table just serves the idea that's the idea yeah um i think within the last two weeks is fair game okay okay i can concede that um in devil's advocate against myself luminous actually came out like 400 years ago but that's beside the point luminous electronic symphony it's a vita game which i'm i'm super hungry for because i i think i professed my uh i like the vita i wish i had more stuff to play on it and luminous is a game for it i never played any of the other luminous games um because i they just didn't click for me so much. But this one did, and I think it's just because it's so pretty, and I like to play it for long periods of time. It's a very soothing game, and not many games are like that for me.
Starting point is 00:18:56 Like, even when I lose after playing the Voyage mode for 80 minutes, I don't get that upset just because I get so so chilled out by the vibes that it's throwing at me uh and uh i like it apparently there's the the avatar system is new so you can unlock new characters as you level up and uh those characters have special abilities that you can use while uh while playing the game like turning your next block into a chain reaction block, which clears out all the other blocks that are the same color that touch it. And yeah, there's a lot of neat modes,
Starting point is 00:19:33 and there's this thing called the world block, which is something like a huge cube that's made out of a million or so luminous blocks, and then everybody across the world contributes to erasing it just by playing the game. And the world contributes to erasing it just by playing the game and uh if you manage to contribute to it before it gets totally erased and you get a bunch of experience points uh that helps level up your guys and earn new guys good news justin you don't have to go because our entire audience has fallen asleep oh man oh no i'm curious how how does one play this game with
Starting point is 00:20:08 pop pop uh with well here's the deal oh you don't pop no the answer is you don't play it with him system link you get out wait wait how much does a vita cost it's uh it's two it's only $250. What? It's only $250. Is that only $250? Is that how $250 is to you? What do you have for brunch? Do you eat gold bouillon for brunch? The only way to play SSX multiplayer is to have two Xboxes and two copies of SSX,
Starting point is 00:20:44 which is more expensive than two tvs and two entertainment centers to stand those tvs on okay i don't know griffin isn't this just like i think that even more so than ssx this is just like the other luminesce game and it's 50 dollars so expensive it it's it's got that in a $250 machine that most people don't have. Oh, I'll tell you what. I forgot one thing. So whenever you use your avatar's power, you have to recharge the power
Starting point is 00:21:12 by just frantically tapping on the back of the Vita. So you're almost constantly just drumming your fingers on it. Russ, can you do me a favor? Can you wake up Justin for me? Oh, Jesus. I should say that Luminesce on Vita is only $40, but still ridiculous still how much is the memory card six hundred dollars eight thousand dollars you have to get a second mortgage to pay
Starting point is 00:21:33 for the memory card guys i'm gonna i'm gonna come to griffin's defense i had not played a luminous game i am one of those people and i have been playing it on my Vita, and it is a really good game. It's extremely good. The only problem is it's not as good as SSX. I mean, that's the only thing holding it back. But here's the issue. You could have downloaded the same Luminous game for $15 on XBOA, and that came out three years ago.
Starting point is 00:22:02 Except it doesn't have the finger drumming or the avatar system or the world finger drumming doesn't sound terrible so and it sounds like we're 30 dollars twice as much as the game itself i'm just saying may i go ahead i've been sitting on this gym because i i first off hi my name is justin mcel I'm the former managing editor of Joystick and now I'm the managing editor of Vox Games I didn't introduce myself I just realized people know what is it I don't know do they
Starting point is 00:22:35 I used to work at Joystick but I don't anymore now I work at Vox Games so my game is called Code Runner oh no I yeah I brought the big guns this time so this I will actually am going to need my time here because it's it's kind of a an odd concept but but do hang in there with me before you start attacking me because I think it's really interesting. So Code Runner is an iPhone game that is GPS-based. Probably the best way to try to explain it to you is to just sort of tell you what the first few minutes are like.
Starting point is 00:23:21 You plug in your headphones and you start the game and you're informed that you're working for the uh i think it's the department of privacy which is a newly established wing of the of the government that uh sort of has carte blanche in tapping into people's phones and monitoring people and and uh hacking into their personal data etc um so your game the game itself is gps based so the first time you start you see a map uh of your area exactly where you are at um and you see a beacon where you are uh and a voice comes on over your headphones and tells you that they're watching you to act completely normal, but you need to exit the premises immediately because you're being monitored. So the very first thing you do is leave the area that you are in and have to get outside so you can get your first mission. And basically the missions populate across the area that you're in.
Starting point is 00:24:33 So one of the missions, for example, they want you to go to a location on the map, and it may be around the corner, it may be a block and a half away. It's always within walking distance. But once you're there, you will get some other snippet of the story. Like they'll tell you – the voice in the headphones will tell you that the – like for instance, the person you're trying to tail is inside this house. So you look at the house and in the fiction of the story, the terrorist or whatever is in there, and you'll hear their conversation or see video over through your phone that is supposedly going on inside the building. Or it works great in populated areas because sometimes they'll. Griffin.
Starting point is 00:25:15 Griffin. Yeah. Griffin. Yeah. What is that? Oh, sorry. I just thought our listeners might want some white noise. You're infringing.
Starting point is 00:25:24 You're infringing on my time um it's an infringement how much you've had 20 minutes so far is that's what it feels like no let me finish um okay so you know i've actually oh crap it's close the you have drop points also uh that are tied to real world locations that figure into missions so someone can set up a drop point at a at an atm and it's listed as such uh it's listed as we all heard that right yeah but you infringed on my time so i get a few more seconds to finish um but it's it's basically a real world spy game that's layered over the actual world and oh no i think you're done you're the other thing you're done that's it is a backdoor it is a backdoor fitness game
Starting point is 00:26:12 because it's what do you mean by backdoor like it it never builds itself as a as a as a game about fitness but it's ever all the time you're playing it you're up you're moving around you're walking and hence how much of our audience is uh into uh playing fitness games do you think it's that's it it's not it's not a fitness game you don't realize until afterwards like oh man i walked a lot this game is trying it's trying to sneak health i feel good on me no it's it uh it's like a suppository when someone's distracting you. It's the Michelle Obama of video games. It is the Michelle Obama of video games. It gets you fit.
Starting point is 00:26:49 It's fun, and it's a really cool – if you like alternate reality games at all, that's exactly what it is. And it actually will make references to things that are in your area. So it will say like, okay, you're going to turn left at the gas station here because it's pulling the data off of google maps wait wait you're staring at are you driving no you don't drive you walk i mean that's how exercise works right if you're lazy you could drive but can you drive and then your guy is like oh man you're going really fast how are you doing this anybody run this fast um but but. Sounds a little dangerous. But the other people, if you have people playing the game in your area, the dead drops that they've set up will show up on your map. So you'll see there's one over here and there's one over here,
Starting point is 00:27:38 and the person has set up the password to the dead drop, usually with a word that's in the area. So there's a hint to what it is. This is a heady experience you've brought to the table justin mccallory if you if you try it just launched today no just launched this week with game center uh i really do believe it's gonna be the next big thing if you if you give it a shot um it makes you feel like a spy it makes you feel like you're important and people care about you and it lowers your bmi it drops that bmi down it seems like it's dangerous in the sense that you're constantly
Starting point is 00:28:08 telling people where you are to come get murdered and if there's other people who are pretending to be spies they might get too into the fiction start packing heat maybe you get to the drop at the same time they do and you get murked in real life so i would say because justin's game is the only one that could literally kill you in the real world in irl then uh then it's probably not the winner this week i don't know i'd be wary i'm not worried about getting killed by a merc but like what if i lost too much weight yeah you get too fit right that's a concern too but i would also say that since we've moved on to this section uh i would also say that my game and russ's game are the only games that haven't come out seven times already so that has got to be a plus in their column that's true we got originality on our side justin your game it might be the only game that you can play natively with your dad
Starting point is 00:29:01 without having to drop a whole bunch of extra skrilla a lot of extra skrillex you have the dad thing there and the two of you guys are going to get fit you're going to get fit you're going to bond you're going to go on runs you're going to get to know your neighborhood which is important yeah that is very important uh and if you ever come to honey to west virginia come come uh come check out my dad drops it's a little sad i'm just playing by myself right now so that's like i think it's time to start narrowing the list down okay okay okay ssx is out because it's already come out no it's out uh because it's it's uh it's come out so many times okay but i am code runner and uh no mars no you don't just because you talk faster than everyone else doesn't mean that your
Starting point is 00:29:42 is the that counts you know make an excuse make some reason that a game what that has come out eight times already can be the best game of the year okay it's only come out twice i think that's false there's no luminous one luminous two uh and xbox xbox live it's at least. Okay, so at least three times. Okay, here's all the games in the world that involve running. Tag, hide and go seek, running for fitness, track, all of the Olympic events.
Starting point is 00:30:16 So this game that you're describing has come out a billion times before. Yeah, and the video game part of it, I played it on the Nintendo Entertainment System and it was called Spy vs. Spy. Okay, settle down. Plant, do you think Luminous should be removed from this group? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:32 Of course he does, because he's got another f***ing game in the running. And so do Justin and I, so I think Luminous is gone. Yeah. Griffin, Griffin, do you think that... Your game is bulls***. Do you think that SSX should be removed? No. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:30:47 It's already come out too many times. Thank you. So we have a 2-2 right here. Griffin, do you think this silly-ass code runner should be removed? Absolutely. Yes. Absolutely. Can I say something before you remove it?
Starting point is 00:31:00 And I know that you are going to, but when Fresh Chicken Plant get to San Francisco and the three of us are on some fucking international super adventures like like three spies running around san francisco friends having fun yeah and i'm at home at home in austin keeping our website alive by myself because you guys are running around flipping over fucking rocks looking for secret passcodes guys uh nuclear button justin when did uh code runner first come out it was released on the 27th or 28th actually no no when did it first come out
Starting point is 00:31:35 on the itunes app store it was in beta but that doesn't count uh it was in beta that doesn't well ssx has come out and came out in 2002 We're not rolling that out Do you know how I know it's a different game? Because they took out one of the main features So it's obviously a different game Sliding on snow What? So SSX is out
Starting point is 00:31:56 Yeah, I think SSX should be gone No way That means we're moving on to Russ Russ, are we getting rid of Code Runner or not? I realize... I don't like what this is putting me in a position because I feel like it's turning into politics again. If you get rid of my game,
Starting point is 00:32:16 it's tricky to rock or it's fully SSX if you kill me. I will rise up against you. Freshness game is about space gardening. What part of that does not sound... And you have a jet pack. I don't know. The fact that there's no oxygen in space. So how plants supposed to...
Starting point is 00:32:30 Yeah, and it's Mars. They're Martian plants. You know the great thing about Mars? It doesn't have water. Yeah, you have like a tiny little bit of ass water. No, there's water in the core of Mars that no one's found yet. Also, wait, pause. Did you see Mars Needs Moms?
Starting point is 00:32:46 Did you see John Carter from Mars? These are bad things. What? John Carter from Mars? What are you talking about? You're saying things with Mars in them are just inherently bad? Total recall? Yeah, that's why they took Mars out of the title John Carter from Mars.
Starting point is 00:33:02 Because they were like, we have a real problem on our hands there's nothing wrong with mars there's a big thing wrong with mars i think it this is pretty serious um we need to rule at least one other game out and i think it should be ssx because that's a game that's come out so many times no no i'm not going to get rid of ssx fine code runner's gone i I vote out Code Runner. Okay, done. All right, so now it's time to Space Gardens and SSX. A dull snowboarding game that's been made over and over again.
Starting point is 00:33:35 How about a fantastic 9 out of 10 snowboarding game? You know, I want to add a little thing to my argument here. You know what's great about SSX? You want to play it with your dad, but maybe your dad works crazy hours. Maybe he works in a coal mine, and you work by day in front of a computer, and you want to have a friendly multiplayer session, but your schedules are never the same. So you come home, and you're like, look, dad, he carved up the snow so well,
Starting point is 00:34:03 and I've got a ghost dad to race against and I've got a ghost dad to race against. I've got a ghost dad to race against. Russ, does your game have a ghost dad? It has a ghost. No, don't give me horse crap. Don't even go to Mars. Griffin, I want to give you a – I think right now we're split with me and Russ on the side of space gardening
Starting point is 00:34:23 and Griffin and play on the side of SSX Griffin, let me Wait, is Griffin really on the side of SSX? Yeah, dude What if you and your dad live asynchronous lives? That's the only way you can get together Plant, I feel you Exactly, and if he's dead, he can still play with you
Starting point is 00:34:40 You're saying if your dad plays the game and then dies If your dad plays the game and then dies if your dad plays the game and then dies he will live forever within the context of the game it's ghost yeah that's how a ghost run works i want to put one thing in your ear just something to think about plant one last week do you really want to see that much of a power base over to him? Griffin, Griffin, I'm ready to make you a deal. Are you ready for this? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:07 You have my vote next week. Okay. Oh, no, no, no, no. Guys, this stuff is inconsequential. Plant just told me about a way to keep my dad alive forever. I'm going to go with SSX. On the basis that SSX can keep your dad alive forever, I'm going to name that our game of the week.
Starting point is 00:35:25 It's the recipient of the Bestie Award. Now here's the question. Is keeping your dad is keeping your dad alive forever better than Laser Babes? That's my question. He makes a valid point. It's not, but thank you.
Starting point is 00:35:43 It's not a valid point whatsoever. not but thank you it's not a valid point whatsoever you can continually race against your dead father for all time you know what honestly i'm loving that the fact that it can keep your your dead dad alive forever you might have turned me around on this one i think that uh ssx solely for its ability to keep your dad alive forever. I miss you, dad. You carve such a sick line. Dad, when you did that flip off the peak of the Himalayas, I love you. I miss you, dad.
Starting point is 00:36:11 Always. Why did you have to try to snowboard in real life, daddy? I miss you. Womp, womp, womp. Congratulations to SSX, the current bestie, the recipient of the bestie award in our current game of the year. Guys, I was worried. I was worried about when Mass Effect 3 comes out
Starting point is 00:36:31 that that's just going to be our game of the year forever, but I don't know that Mass Effect 3 will have functions built into it that will keep my dad alive forever.
