Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. It's that time to put on your jersey and wave your flag, whoever you root for. Why do I watch the walk up? That's like asking me, why do I breed? And it's beautiful. The guys are young and cute and fit.
Starting point is 00:00:19 It's not just a game. It's your culture. I like watching it with my dad. It's a connecting force. From Futuro Studios, I'm Fernanda Chavari, and this is American football, a show about soccer culture in the U.S. and its underdog roots. Listen to American football on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Joy is essential and it's also elusive, but now there's a new and exciting way to start your journey toward a more joyful existence.
Starting point is 00:00:56 Joy 101. It's a new podcast hosted by me, Hoda Kotby. If you're craving inspiration to maximize your joy, tune into these candid, uplifting, and moving on-air chats. Open your free IHeart Radio app. Search Joy 101 and listen now. Joy 101 with Hoda Kotby is presented by CVS. There was no anything inside those eyes. They turned black.
Starting point is 00:01:25 It scared the hell out of me. Evil, wake up. I'm the one that saw the murder take place by Krivac and Divor. Tipo. Anthony DePippo showed no signs of remorse, appearing unfazed after being sentenced to the maximum. I said, I'm not guilty. I'll take it to the grief. Listen to the devil's quarry in the Bone Valley Feed on the Iheart radio app.
Starting point is 00:01:51 Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcasts. All right, listen up. The Jonas Brothers here. Our podcast is called, Hey Jonas. We're here since everyone has a podcast, we want it to as well. And we've had some incredible guests so far. And now our good friend Nile Horn is joining the show. How's it going, boys?
Starting point is 00:02:12 Hey, Niall. It's the same thing with Slow Hands. Slow Hands is not about anything else, really, is it? You know, or taste so good can't be about food. You do the same, Nick, with some of the stuff that you've done. You too, Joe. Drop what you're doing and listen to Hey Jonas on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to your podcasts. This is a podcast called 25 Whist.
Starting point is 00:02:38 So, Stalking Me! And they all wear a whist. Blow it. We yield meat because today is the meat in my mouth challenge. Lovely. Brandon, you can lay them up here. I'm so scared Brandon switch the two.
Starting point is 00:03:02 Do you know which one's which? Okay. Okay, so if you missed last week's episode, both Eddie and Kevin claimed they could smoke the best brisket. I gave them both $75 to go and buy the brisket. Now, I just need to know, do I need to eat it immediately or can I talk about something for a second?
Starting point is 00:03:22 I mean, it's up to you. Do you like your meat hot or do you like it? You guys know me? I like the meat in my mouth, you know? Yeah, yeah. Everybody knows me. There's one thing everybody says about me. Like you walk out in an office with I've been in and you like, that's the one thing about
Starting point is 00:03:36 that guy. He likes meat in his mouth. It's always better warm. Yeah, yeah. Okay, fair enough. Kevin, how long did you cook your meat? 10 hours. Eddie?
Starting point is 00:03:48 13. Any story behind? I don't know who's is who's. I've got two plates here. I don't know who's is who's. I can't even look at it and tell who's is who's. I can tell which one looks a little more appealing.
Starting point is 00:04:01 But I don't want to say anything yet. The one you have in your hand. You're not going to tell me. No, I'm just, I'm doing a number system. Okay. Is that okay? Well, I would think this is number two. That's not.
Starting point is 00:04:12 That's number one. That's number one. And number two. Okay, so this is number one. That's number one. Okay. I'm going to take a bite of number one. I don't even know which one's why
Starting point is 00:04:22 I know I thought I was number three okay so oh dang that's good oh dang is that yours oh dang that's good
Starting point is 00:04:34 oh damn that's good I'm on alive it's good briskered there I don't know if you guys know about me I'll love me in a mouth yeah you know a lot
Starting point is 00:04:49 something okay okay so that was what that was number one I mean it was number one because I ate it number one. Brandon said to use that number one.
Starting point is 00:04:57 Okay. God dang, that was good. Okay. Let me go to number two. Number two. Now, I'm going to say this. Number one tasted way better than I thought it was going to because it visually did not look as good as what number two looks like. Only because number two, the edges are blackened.
Starting point is 00:05:22 And I'm not even sure if that's what you say about it. And nobody correct me because then I might know who it is. Yeah, no, no correction. Okay. Number two. Can you say blackened? Sorry. Should we bleep that?
Starting point is 00:05:33 I'm not even going to make the joke. Guys, come on. Okay, here we go, here we go. Oh, dang, that's good. So both are good? Here's the thing. They're not just good because I love meat in my mouth. Because you do?
Starting point is 00:05:56 I do. That's the thing. Man, I'm nervous. Me too. I'm really nervous now. Me too. God dang, those are both good. He's going for seconds.
Starting point is 00:06:07 Well, I have to. I can clean my palate. And I'm only eating off the same wine. Do you have water? I got. I guess that's how you clean your palate. Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. This is close, Kevin?
Starting point is 00:06:20 To everybody listening, it's elite type stuff. Nice job, Eddie. Man, I'm going to be honest, Kevin. Like, I was very proud of what I made. And the fact that it's so close, that's good. To number two. Good. It's a big deal.
Starting point is 00:06:38 As good as the first bite, better than the second bite, or better than the first bite? It can't be better than the first because now I know what to expect. But the fact that it could even, it's like the first time you do heroin. It's awesome. Yes, yes, yes, yes. But if that second time you do heroin can be close, like, I'm chasing the dragon on now, boys. Absolutely. I'm chasing the dragon.
Starting point is 00:07:04 Get your fix on. Now, do you want to do the barbecue sauce now, or is it just plain versus? skip for now. Okay, first of all, I'm a guy who believes this, and it's controversial. I believe, you put a little sauce on something, it's always better. Even if it's perfect, it gets a little more perfect. I love A1 sauce. I love sauces.
Starting point is 00:07:22 This is good enough that sauce will still make it better. But this is good enough and I need sauce. Both of them. Hey, let's skip the sauce then. Bobby's taking his second bite. This is the second bite of number one. He sure is there. Brandon with the playoff.
Starting point is 00:07:36 He's taking two bites of number two. and his face says it all. God dang. Have you ever loved me in your mouth more than right now? Well, yeah. Woodstocks, 69? It was a dangerous time for all of it. It was muddy.
Starting point is 00:07:57 We didn't know what was happening. I'm telling you, it smells good in here, doesn't it? It smells amazing in here. Guys, I'm shocked that they're both so good. I am too. I am actually shocked that you're having such a hard time.
Starting point is 00:08:12 I'm having such a hard time because I think in my head I've got one that's slightly better but it only could be the order that I'm eating it too so I'm probably gonna have to go back and put even more meat
Starting point is 00:08:24 in my mouth. Oh, okay, okay. But we did bring Dylan in. I know scuba Steve is here too he's doing body bone show stuff. Hey scuba Steve, can you hear me? Can you have him
Starting point is 00:08:35 put his headphones on real quick? Hey, what's up? Do you enjoy meat in your mouth? Yeah. Okay. His face is so scared. Yeah. We're having a meet off. We don't know whose meat is who. Okay.
Starting point is 00:08:49 Both Eddie and Kevin smoked a brisket. And would you mind sampling a piece and just telling me which one you like better? And Dylan, same for you. Interesting. But we're not showing Dylan, right? No, no. Those two don't need to know who's his who. No, no.
Starting point is 00:09:07 No, no. I'm saying we're not showing his face, Dylan, right? Is he masked Dylan? Here's the thing about Dylan. He's hidden. He's secret. And I made the joke that Dylan's face will never be seen. And then someone just searched to I follow on Instagram and I follow Dylan.
Starting point is 00:09:28 There you go. He's no longer mask. You know, you can show. Yeah, we can show Dylan. All right. Okay. There's Dylan. Hey, Dylan.
Starting point is 00:09:37 Okay. Dylan. Yes. You go first. Okay. I'm going to have you come up. And I need another fork, though. Can somebody run to get another fork?
Starting point is 00:09:46 I'm not giving Dylan. Yeah, I'll get one. Because I've kept my fork only on specific pieces of me. Oh, yeah, yeah. One on the left. My left, you're right. Well, the fork's under the piece that I've been eating from. You don't need to worry that much, Dylan.
Starting point is 00:09:58 I'm okay, bro. I'm pretty sorry. Well, I was saying which one was. I got a baby. I got a newborn. I got to stay pretty healthy. Man. I'm surprised.
Starting point is 00:10:09 I'm shocked. I'm shocked. I'm shocked. I thought I'd come in, and you'd, be like, oh, this one's for sure the best. So I always checked out, listen to something else. I know Eddie's involved, but who's going up against? Kevin.
Starting point is 00:10:21 Oh, okay, all right. But you don't know who's is who's. Yeah, yeah. Good luck, Kevin. Right. We're going to bring in a couple other forks. Thank you. I'll get you with my hands, too. You could.
Starting point is 00:10:31 That primal. Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right, good deal. This is amazing. Do we have any paper towels or something? Because he's going to have to, like, grab a sheet. Oh, no paper towels here. That's all right.
Starting point is 00:10:43 That's warm out there. Kevin keeps running back and forth. You need a couple beers. Dylan is walking. All right, Dylan. This is number one. This is number two. So if you want to grab one of he comes back with the paper towel, you can lay it on the paper towel.
Starting point is 00:11:02 Yeah. Oh, I have another plate. Oh, yeah, you're doing a plate. Even better. Scooby, you can come on in then. Here's Scooby. I'll give you a plate right here. Number one.
Starting point is 00:11:13 So just grab a whole piece. and just remember which one's which scuba's entering the studio and then grab a piece over here the only piece i've eaten off of is this one boom so you remember yep left good no that's not for use for scuba man boys you guys out did yourself here i'm the the tension is high i'm so worried now uh scuba there's a plate right there there you go buddy yeah so you don't want to grab that one i've got that piece and that's that's piece number one you know you have a fork Kevin you a little worried and then they should have brought you there's forks over there. Oh, yeah, that one. That's number two.
Starting point is 00:11:50 So the blacker edge is two. And then, yeah. So you guys will have a couple bites of each and. Scoob it straight with the hands. I love it, dude. Let me know. What do you think? Oh, wow.
Starting point is 00:12:06 Oh, we got an oh wow. He's going for number two already. You want to go back to your desk? That's insane. Which one did you have? I had number one first. That's pretty good. I don't even remember which one was the woods.
Starting point is 00:12:18 That's pretty good. Brandon, you remember, right? That's all that matters. I have no idea anymore. That's solid. So far, I've had that first one, I think that's number one. That was hella good. Right?
Starting point is 00:12:28 That was so good. That was so good. A lot of good fat in there, too. Okay. I'm worried by the second one. It looks like it may be too smoked or maybe, like, too crispy for my liking. Well, you're just looking at it, though. You got to taste it.
Starting point is 00:12:39 Yeah, I guess I was giving my initial thought by looking at him. Yeah, we didn't ask about initial thought that. You got to put the meat in your mouth. I know. I'm talking on an eyeball test. Well, the cooking shows, they talk about how it looks and the platehouse presented. Does this look like a cooking show? This is not Gordon Rangty.
Starting point is 00:12:55 Hmm. It's interesting. The second one is like butter. Yeah. Okay. So don't make any answer. Don't say anything yet. Okay.
Starting point is 00:13:08 Let's let him. Dylan is jumping down. Hey, Brandon, would you mind giving them each a one of those yellow post-its that they can write down number one and number two on it? Yes. Just write your answer down. Wow. I did not expect for it to be like this. I bet you, I didn't either, actually.
Starting point is 00:13:27 It's like Tom Brady's showing up the Super Bowl being like, I got this, and then they're down by like two touchdowns. Then Nick Ball shows up. He's like, how's he's so good? Yeah. That's what's happening right now, Kevin. It's the young buck coming in, dude, Drake May. The rookie, yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:40 Yeah. Second year, second smoke. Drake May lost. This is your second smoke ever? Ever. Wow. A brisket. Well, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:48 But did he take any of the eddies? I didn't tell them anything. No, man. We haven't really even talked to them. No, we haven't been friends for about a week. We walked by each other and just been like, you're not my friend this week. Man, the problem is, like, one of them actually looks more appealing to me.
Starting point is 00:14:03 And if it's a tie, I end up having to fall to that. Do they write their answers down? Don't let them see it. Don't let them see. And Scooby, you're saying that's what they do in the cooking shows? They talk about the plate presentation, how it looks. Well, there's no plate presentation. There are paper plates, guys.
Starting point is 00:14:18 They're on paper plates with plastic force. Early as to Bobby's point, to Bobby's point, how it looks as the meat. Okay. And I genuinely don't know which one have you cooked which. Do you want me to bring you the... Yeah, please do it. Man, I wrote down a number and I made one... I don't know if I want to switch it back to another one.
Starting point is 00:14:37 You've already written down your number. Guys, I was pretty sad. Let's go, Eddie. Guys, it's that close? Yeah. It's that close? The Patriots got blown out in the Super Bowl. I was a little bit too salty, but I don't mind it.
Starting point is 00:14:49 This is like the Cowboys, you know, expect a lot, and then they just disappoint. Can I get a sheet please? I don't want to see theirs before I write my answer down. Dang. That was a pretty straightforward for me. It was? Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:01 Oh, okay. All right, Dylan. I like that. I mean, I thought it was pretty. That makes you feel a little better. Yeah. So. Okay.
Starting point is 00:15:14 Oh, man. Do you know? Do you know? I'm looking at those two. This is wild. Somebody pick number one. Somebody pick number two. Oh.
Starting point is 00:15:24 And that's not including yours? Mine's written, already written down here below. One and two. Dylan, which one did you pick? I pick number one. Because? The flavor's better. But I wish I could take the consistency and the texture and the feel of number two and put it with the taste of number one.
Starting point is 00:15:41 Yeah, yeah. Just in hybrid. But, you know, overall, I'm something on eating. Yeah. I'm going to go taste. So I went number one. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:15:47 And Scooba, you picked number two. It did. Yes. It looked like a traditional brisket and had the texture of it and taste because one was really, good, but I think afterwards that the aftertaste was a little bit too salty. Almost like old people food. Oh, wow, wow.
Starting point is 00:16:01 You eat old people food? Like piccadilly. Okay, so before I reveal my answer, because I already have it written down, I cannot change it. I would like to know whose was number one. Can I look at them? I'll tell you what it is, which one? Well, it's always been the same.
Starting point is 00:16:17 I don't know, but let me see them. I can tell you what's number one and number two. Oh, okay. So number one was more straightforward. word the edges weren't blackened. Number two was more blackened around the edges. That's mine for sure. Blackened around the edges. Brandon. Number one is Kevin and number two is Eddie.
Starting point is 00:16:34 I have my answer. Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God. I just want to set this up first. Because I'm already down so I cannot change. I'm not O's the mentalist. I'm not riding it with my pinky behind the screen or anything. It's already down. Here's what I want to say. They're both. Excellent. Okay, so there's that. This is crazy.
Starting point is 00:17:01 It could be one of the greatest upsets in cooking history. Shut out! No, what I do? It didn't say it is. Relax. I said it could be. If Kevin pulls this off, relax. Come on, baby.
Starting point is 00:17:10 It could be the greatest upset in cooking history. Sorry. They were both dynamic. So you both could be very proud. Thank you. Somebody wants to hear that. Let's go. The winner.
Starting point is 00:17:25 You want to take another bite? I don't need to I will Because you want to It's good I'd like to have a little sauce And maybe you'd maybe bring a vegetable I got some fried owing
Starting point is 00:17:37 Some sauce and sauce I did tell my wife I was like I gotta eat more vegetables I'm just eating all meat at the house Because I hear the thing about me I love meat in my mouth You do You do
Starting point is 00:17:45 You do I'll wake up in the morning Perfect challenge for you Go to bed Can I have meat in my mouth The winner The winner Of the meat in my mouth challenge
Starting point is 00:17:53 Is Eddie how bad with us be for you if you lose. I would leave. I'm leaving. I'm leaving. I'm going straight home. Kevin, how cool would it be for you if you want? Dude, it would make my year. Like, I will come off. The entire year, I'm coming to every show and I'm changing my Instagram handle from Kickoff Kevin to the Brisket Master. Shut up. Cookout, Kevin. Just because of how confident he was. Cookout Kevin. Cookout Kevin.
Starting point is 00:18:20 That's Dylan. This is the food influencer. The winner of the Meat in My Mouth Challenge is. Come on, baby. Come on, baby. Number. Come on, baby. Two. Oh. So, Kevin.
Starting point is 00:18:48 It was awesome. Thank you. Yours is awesome. You know what? I'll take it. Hey, who did one? Hey, it's a very, a direct-made performance. You shouldn't be here so, so quick.
Starting point is 00:18:57 Keep working. I'm a little head. You shouldn't have got this close, this early, but you did a heck of a job. Thank you guys. Did you have an easy schedule getting here? Yeah, you played nobody. But. Hey, I can only play who's in front of me.
Starting point is 00:19:11 That's right. That's true. It's not on you. It's not on you. I only had one person. I think I'm glad Scoob and Dylan were here because it was that close. Solid, right, Dylan? Solid.
Starting point is 00:19:20 Both fantastic. Okay, who did Dylan pick? I picked one. He picked me. It's crazy. It's crazy. Dylan just went up in my book. And then Scoba, you went two?
Starting point is 00:19:28 Yeah, because one was a little too salty. I thought they both were very flavorful. Both were great. So when I has to have any critique, I think they beat anybody else that we play this game with. They're both that good. So this is basically Forrest Gump at the, what, 92 Oscars up against John Travolta and Pulp Fiction. Dang. Which one are you, Eddie?
Starting point is 00:19:52 Mike, am I right about any of that? Ninety-94. Okay, thank you. Thank you. Close. Right. You're talking about both dynamic. Wow.
Starting point is 00:20:00 Fantastic stuff. That being said, what separated it for me was number one. one, Kevin's, it was not tough, but it was a little tougher than Eddie's, which I put Eddie's in my mouth, and it was like the butter slightly melted in the microwave, and you put it in your You're like, you're talking about my briskey, guys.
Starting point is 00:20:17 Or, am I? No, yeah, you're talking about my briskey. Great job, guys. Hey, wow. Eddie is the king. And look, you're eating some more of mine, man, enjoy it. You want some chips and salsa, too?
Starting point is 00:20:28 I made some homemade salsa. Have you're interested? Got work? Okay, all right. I'm going to be honest, guys. If Eddie would have lost, I was I was going to like follow you home. I was about to tell Dylan like take over the cameras.
Starting point is 00:20:39 I'm out. I'm leaving. Right. God, that would have been the biggest. Yeah. But the problem with that is, Dylan might be better the camera. He's younger.
Starting point is 00:20:50 You want to do a camera on? All right. Next Monday. Camera on. Oh my God. Man. I was worried about that char. I was like I didn't get that char that I was looking for.
Starting point is 00:21:02 Let me tell you. Let me tell you. I was a little stressed out because I did mine last night. I did it yesterday, all day yesterday. I put it in at 11 a.m. thinking it's going to be a 10-hour smoke by about, you know, eight or so it'll be ready to go. Guys, at 8, it was not even halfway done. Really? And so mine was not ready till last night at 1 in the morning.
Starting point is 00:21:20 Really? I had to set alarm every 30 minutes and be like, go check it. So the fact that I had to wait that long, I was worried he was going to be completely dry. But it wasn't. Came out great. Are there any sponsors you want to think? No. Me.
Starting point is 00:21:34 I sponsored both of them. Bobby Pay for. I will say I got the brisket for $72. You gave me $75. It was perfect. Yeah, man, good job. What are you talking about? Good job.
Starting point is 00:21:43 Was there enough to, like, feed the family for a while? Yeah, I'm taking some home. I got the whole thing here, but I'm going to take it home. That's the first bite out of the brisket. So you have enough to, like, feed your family. Correct. So I fed your family's in multiple ways this week. Yes.
Starting point is 00:21:54 Yeah, great. So in the end, the money that you pay us. In the end, I am the winner. Dang. That was fun, though. It was stressful. It was so stressful. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:03 I was stressing yesterday. Preping Saturday. I went to the bathroom and I don't know who's is, but I see Eddie, like, fighting in that igloo thing up the stairs. He's like, I need five minutes. He's, like, hitting walls with it. I was worrying Kevin because I told him that I got, they're bringing the smoker in like 30 minutes. And he thought they're going to roll the real smoker out. I thought your family, like your boys are going to be in on it.
Starting point is 00:22:24 Fresh off the smoker. Okay, so we'll move away from that. Great job. Thank you. Good for me. Worth $150 for sure, just to see both of you guys. Stressed. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:34 All right. That was fun. Good job, Kevin. Thanks, you too. Let's go. We will talk some NFL draft coming up. We do have some sports to do. Pride Month Toronto.
Starting point is 00:22:44 Pride is an opportunity for you to create your own space. To celebrate your existence. Starting point is 00:23:16 In the moment, it felt like it was going on forever. I didn't think I was going to live. I was terrified. There was no anything inside those eyes. They turned black. It scared the hell out of me. That was your first murder case? Yes, sir. Fear to say this was the biggest case of your career? Yes, sir. The murder of a child is as bad as it gets. I would think so. Evil, wake up.
Starting point is 00:23:45 I'm the one that saw the murder take place by Krivac and DePippo. Anthony DePippo showed no signs of remorse, appearing unfazed after being sentenced to the maximum. I said I'm not guilty. I'll take it to the grief. Listen to the devil's quarry on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. And to hear the devil's quarry ad,

Starting point is 00:25:59 available on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. We will talk the Masters for a second because Dylan went to the Freakin Masters. So Eddie sent me this note too. He's like, did you know Dylan went to the Masters? Did we not talk about this? We did not. I didn't know. No.
Starting point is 00:26:19 No, we did. No, when I was leaving on Friday, he was. He's like, going to the Masters Sunday. Where did we talk about this then? We talked about it on something? Oh, I talked to you. Was it Friday? You were there, right?
Starting point is 00:26:31 Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think it was Friday. And you were there. And you were there. And you were the scarecrow. But we talked about it on this show. Did we not? We didn't.
Starting point is 00:26:41 I guess we didn't. No, because I didn't know. They said Dylan was going to go and I was. And we talked about my trip there. We talked about you being there. You guys just don't listen. I'm almost positive. We talked about it.
Starting point is 00:26:51 I think it was all fair. Because I was like Dylan, if you grab a seat, you probably won't grab your seat and run to that spot. And it's never happened. Yeah, I don't think that was recorded. That was in your dreams. It's not even recorded. But you were there. You were there.
Starting point is 00:27:04 Dylan went to the Masters. That's awesome. Sunday. Sunday, the best day? The reason is his wife works for corporate. Yeah, we'll say corporate. Okay, we'll go with that. And so he went down and he got tickets to go.
Starting point is 00:27:17 And what did you, did you get there? I'm burping up. Excellent brisket, by the way. It was a good smoke flavor? Good burps. Did you get there right when it was gates open? Oh, yeah. And what was your move?
Starting point is 00:27:28 We went to A.M.N. Corner. We had two chairs. Ah, yes. We got first row at Emond Corner. So you ran and set them down? Yeah. Isn't that cool that once you set them down, nobody can move them? It's fantastic.
Starting point is 00:27:36 I had to kick three people out like three times, but it was always a pleasant experience. Where were they? They're trying to sit in your chair? Yeah, so it's like, people can sit in your chair, and it's like just an understood thing if you come up behind and be like, hey, you know, thanks for keeping it warm or whatever. It's our seats. People get up and move. But if there's a chair, you can sit in it, whatever you like.
Starting point is 00:27:52 So you guys didn't hear this. Dang. But what happens is if you have a chair, it's a specific chair too. Yeah, Green Master's chair. As soon as wherever you put it, it lives there. And it's yours for the whole day. So you put it somewhere where you want to sit. But while you're gone, other people can sit in it if it's empty.
Starting point is 00:28:09 But when you go back to that chair, they got to get up. That's your seat. It's your reserve seat for the whole day. So what you do, it's much like as a kid, if you're a Texas giant, you want to go ride that. You know, there's a long line. Right when the gate opened, you run the, the Texas Giant. You run to a place that you want to have your seat all day. And you ran right to A Man Corner. That's cool. Did you walk around though?
Starting point is 00:28:28 So where do you get the chair? Like do they give it to you? You have to buy it. You can buy it. You can buy it in the shop. It seemed like everyone that was there that early already had chairs though. We got ours via my wife's company. So we already had them, which is great, but you can buy them at the store before or during or whenever. So some people that have been there all week, they'll go like one of the practice rounds, get at them. And it has to be a master's chair. Yes. You can't show up with a lawn chair.
Starting point is 00:28:54 That's what I was thinking. Okay. So I'm assuming you also, after you put the chair down, went walking around. Yeah, we did. We went up to the first T-box, saw the first three groups T off there, and then we went to Founder Circle. We got a picture. We walked during the whole course. You got a picture.
Starting point is 00:29:14 Yeah. They take a picture in front of. They take it up. Yeah, yeah. Got it. I was about to turn them in. Right. I was about to get his tickets taken for next year.
Starting point is 00:29:21 GBI just kicks in the door. So you got a picture taken. How did you feel about like trying to follow the famous golfers? So we didn't follow anyone because we knew it would be tough, especially on Sunday. And the people like, not to knock anybody, but like, you know, the good, really good entertaining groups didn't kick T off to like around 1, 1.30. So we kind of just walked around until then. So we got to catch different things like we saw Brooke. on a par three. I think it was on
Starting point is 00:29:51 six. So we saw people that way. We didn't necessarily follow anybody. But it was crazy. I was telling Brandon this. It's just hard to keep like, you have no idea what's going on at any point in time ever. You'll hear roars and you're just like okay. And I still don't know. I haven't watched a roundback. So I have no clue like 90% of the stuff
Starting point is 00:30:07 that happened yesterday. Because unless you're unless you see the main scoreboard or you see one the little ones walking around, you don't know what people's scores are either. If you're like watching them hit in a fair way, you don't even see the ball. no phones so there's no way to keep track there's not like a little app they give you to keep
Starting point is 00:30:25 it's just you're just there talking to people or having to walk to the middle to see the scoreboard to see where it is. That's crazy. And then there are roars just randomly all around you and you're like, I wonder what happened. What else was cool? What was cool about it? I met Daniel Jones. Oh, you did?
Starting point is 00:30:39 Yeah, he was walking around. They thought, they got to love that because no phones. It's probably just people coming up. Hey, you're great. See you later. That's it. Yeah. No pictures. Nothing. You say hi?
Starting point is 00:30:47 No. Oh, so he didn't meet it. Well, he was next to me. Yeah, what? Oh, you talked to him? Yeah, I wasn't like, hey, how's it going? What did you say to him? Well, he would just said something about it.
Starting point is 00:30:56 You said you played college for Chattanooga? You should have told it. And then you transferred up to the Northeast? You don't know me? Come on. Who do you? But, no, I didn't talk to him like that. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:31:07 I'm weird about stuff like that. I don't like to, like, bother people 90% of the time. Was he nice guy? Yeah, super nice. Was he larger? Oh, my God. Was he? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:15 Yeah, they're always big. Jacked. I was so shocked. Tall? Super tall. Like, six-six. How was his Achilles? Did you go down and take a look?
Starting point is 00:31:22 I should have lifted up his head leg and then like, oh, yeah, that baby's tight for sure. Was he walking around, like, pretty good? Yeah, he looked great. No crutches. Gives were, calves were strong. Oh, he's in shorts, right? Big calves, huh? Nice cow.
Starting point is 00:31:37 Great calves. Give us an example. What did you wear? Red Loat. I wore khaki shorts, master's polo and master's hat. Perfect. Like he's playing golf. Did you buy the stuff there?
Starting point is 00:31:47 No. This was from, my wife got it for me a few years ago. And did you wear it prior to this ever? Maybe once or twice. Poser. Now you can. Now, that's what I said we were walking out. I was like, I can finally say, yeah, I've actually been. Where were you when it ended? Were you still on the grounds?
Starting point is 00:32:04 Yeah, so we were at 18. So we thought it would be smart. So when Rory and Cam Young came through Eamon Corner, we immediately packed up after they finished and went to 18, thought we were spry. It was like an hour and a half before they were going to get there. No shot.
Starting point is 00:32:18 No shot. So we were like down behind a tree, like trying to see. And we watched Scotty finish up on 18. And we're like, okay, Justin Rose, you know, he's within striking distance. He was at 11 under going in 17. Bogie's 17. Roy had three strokes. We're like, there's no point in staying.
Starting point is 00:32:35 So we dipped out and it worked out. It saved me like an hour worth of traffic. But yeah. Pretty cool, huh? Yeah, pretty awesome stuff. What did you think of the ground? Unreal. So green, right? Unreal. And it's like the fairways and the greens and even like just the walking, it's just like turf. It doesn't look like real grass. Like I stopped when we were going to put our chairs down. I was just like rubbing the fairway. My wife's like, what are you doing? And I'm like, this is incredible. I don't know how you're not touching the grass right now. Yeah. What about the food? 10 out 10. Try it everything on the menu. Everything. Is it a big menu? It's not a massive menu. I mean, there's some stuff, but it's not.
Starting point is 00:33:14 Okay. It's not a cheesecake factory. I've seen egg salad, egg salad sandwiches, right? That's the thing? The pimento, chival. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:21 Is that where they got the hat? They exiled out. Yeah, I saw that. Hey, what about the birds? Are the birds as loud as they are on TV? Because on TV, the birds are very loud. They're so loud. Like, when we're sitting at a man corner, that's all you hear.
Starting point is 00:33:34 It's just the birds. Like, it's insane. You can see them flying around. They're flying around like crazy, but super loud. Yeah, just as loud as on TV. I'm not convinced they're not robot birds, though. Right. The gay rangers.
Starting point is 00:33:43 British spies. I am not convinced. Government spies. So, give me your top three. You may have already said it, but I don't want to miss anything. Top three things you come away with after going to the Masters. All right. Number three. I like it. Reverse order. Okay. You got to build up here, you know. Yeah, go ahead. Number three is, like we said, the grounds. I mean, everyone always says how great it is. And you're like, my expectations were high already, but it tenfold. Like, it was just absolutely incredible. Number two, my favorite. thing. There's these guys, other people know this, there's guys that hide in the woods behind every green. What do they do? And every T-box. And as soon as the golfers finish up on the greens, they sprint out of the woods maintain the greens, like they'll blow dry at, or if there's a bunker
Starting point is 00:34:27 shot, they'll put the sand, like, make the sand go away. Oh. Keep everything. Do you have camouflage on? Yeah, they like have dark green shirts. They're not in full camo. But yeah. Dilly suits running out. Yeah, that would be scary if you saw Cambo guys come out. They're like the little trolls that.
Starting point is 00:34:42 Yeah. Yeah, so that's number two. I thought that was funny. And the number one is just like being so present is it was incredible. Like I talked to so many people that I'll never see again, but like if we had phones, no shot I talked to these people. Did you see any other celebrities? No, I didn't. But a girl behind me saw Bradley Cooper and then one of my wife's friends saw Peyton Manning. So I was a little upset. I missed Peyton Manning. That's cool. It's a fun experience. 10 out of 10. Isn't it? And you may have a different recollection than I did. Driving up to it, it's just like a gated weird problem. property until you get the, like, yeah, like the course is on the ride, the road, but you don't even know it because it's like a normal gate with like, like a tarp over it type thing. Yeah. Then when you get to the front, you're like, oh, did you have that experience at all? Yeah, it's really weird. So it's off like a traditional southern main road in the town. Like you have just like all the fast food. Like it just totally looks so normal. Yeah. And then you take a right and you're just like at the course. It's like what? It's like what? And then you pull in just a gravel lot. And then obviously everything's fence. You can't see anything. You walk in. You're like, oh. everything just changes like that when you walk in the greens everything it reminds me a bit of for us in this room if you've come to nashville the bluebird meaning the bluebird is historic and you've seen the television of Nashville there's a documentary about it all these song right garth brooks was found of the bluebird taylor's found at the bluebird when you come to it it's in a freaking strip
Starting point is 00:36:02 mall and you're like what the heck that's it and then you get in and it's tight super tight and pack but you're like, oh, I feel it. Like, this is cool. But when you get to it, you drive to it, and you arrive, you're like, what the heck is this? Yeah, there's like image in your head and it just doesn't do it justice. Until you get in and then when it starts, you're like, oh, I get why this experience is that special. Like, you're in so tight, the people are in around. It's not this exactly the same, but that would be the comparison here.
Starting point is 00:36:31 Do you want to go back next year? Oh, if I could go back every year for the rest of my life, I would 100%. You would. Yeah. Would you go four days or just one and you're good? I had no responsibilities. I'd go four days. Like it's just the most serene, awesome thing.
Starting point is 00:36:44 Yeah. Incredible. You're young. You probably got a Coachella too. No way, man. No way. I think it'd be fun to go every few years. It's just a lot.
Starting point is 00:36:58 Traffic. Augusta, been to Augusta a bunch of times, not for golf, but just for shows or station stuff. And it's a small town. it's a traffic's a beast. You got to do what he did, but on purpose, you got to leave unless it's something really cool at the end you're going to wait for, but then you're going to be in traffic for two hours. This is his old man talking, though, now.
Starting point is 00:37:17 It's like, I don't want to be in, but yeah, it's super cool. I was thinking last night, I've been very fortunate. No, I haven't. I've worked hard, so screw that. Nice. I've not been for. No, I haven't. I've worked super hard to get this crap.
Starting point is 00:37:29 I've been to the Masters. I've been to the Super Bowl. Multiple, but I just say Super Bowl. been to the World Series at football I've been to the Stanley Cup finals I just haven't been to the NBA finals The only one I haven't been to
Starting point is 00:37:49 That's crazy to think of now Considering I never went to anything as a kid No games It's the parents taking me anywhere That's the one I got to check off Is to go to NBA finals And I've been to all the pro things And that's I was thinking about it yesterday
Starting point is 00:38:02 I was like I've been to the master's I'm like what other ones I've been to Because I only went to the World Series Because the Cubs were in it Super Bowl for work a couple times Masters because they're friends Where'd you guys stay? Where'd you stay anywhere?
Starting point is 00:38:13 Did you drive down and drive back? One of her company had a few houses So we said... That's awesome. Man, if you have like a house in Augusta You're gonna like Airbnb be the F out of that thing For a few days at that time. That's cool.
Starting point is 00:38:23 They made some crazy money. That's awesome, man. You don't have an NBA team, do you? No. So like... My wife and her family are massive Thunder last year Because my wife and her family are massive Thunder fans
Starting point is 00:38:32 And I got invited to go out. Oh, wow. And they were like, hey, you should come to one of the finals games You didn't realize that's the one you've never been to. I don't know traffic. I get it. But I should go now and check the box. But that's super cool, Dylan.
Starting point is 00:38:48 That's awesome. And, dude, you should go back and watch Sunday because Sunday was crazy, like at the Masters. That fourth round? Yeah, there's a stretch. How many leads were there? Yeah. There's tons.
Starting point is 00:38:57 So many different leads. I bet on Rory before it started. $100 and $100. I went $30. That's pretty good. I mean, consecutive wins. I mean, he's the fourth one of the three years. I did. The only other bet that I made was Shuffler to be in the top five.
Starting point is 00:39:10 And he did. I didn't think he was going to. Came on strong. Yeah. Yeah, I got second. I think I bet $2.50. I won like $6.20. It wasn't that that was a massive pay, but it was. He wasn't doing that well. No. You know, so not until Saturday. That's when he started climbing. I think he shot seven under on Saturday. One other thing is that Kevin did not scam Cobra golf.
Starting point is 00:39:35 Oh, yeah, he did. not scam. Oh my gosh. He did. Cobra golf gave him golf clubs. Why did this even come up? Oh, we were talking about playing golf. And I think I talked about like if I would have won to bet, I'm going to buy these
Starting point is 00:39:49 new titleless irons. And Kevin's like, oh, yeah, I got new irons, like, brand new irons. I'm like, you bought irons? Like, no, I didn't buy him. Cobra gave him to me. And I was like, then he finally told me the story. I'm like, this sounds familiar. Scammer alert.
Starting point is 00:40:03 As if he wasn't there for the whole thing. The whole thing. Yeah. Guys, I'm forgetting everything. I think I'm getting Alzheimer's. We should say it, right? Yeah, man. I'm forgetting everything.
Starting point is 00:40:13 So, yes, we were going to shoot a series. So I had to deal with Cobra for a year and a half, maybe two years. And so clubs, I did social media stuff for them. And I was like, hey, we'll do a series with Kevin, trying to break 200 or something. I don't remember, it was it. It was 90.
Starting point is 00:40:29 It was 90. It was something realistic. Yeah, 200. And my guy that I did, the deal with left COBRA and he was like, hey, I'm leaving. I'm going to a different company. And so when he left, our debts were paid. They never had me back again. And I also, my deal did, I wasn't playing any more golf, though. And my deal didn't renew itself.
Starting point is 00:40:51 But Kevin did get irons from him, right? I got irons and we gave him to Kevin. Yeah. But yes, they were for Kevin. He got them fitted. We went and did the whole thing. But it was mostly through my deal. Okay, that makes sense.
Starting point is 00:41:02 No, you're being a hater. No, I thought, I thought COBRA was like, hey, guys, did we ever see anything from that Kevin, kick off Kevin guy. They kick off Kevin, the Break 200 series? No, but he got those clubs. We were going to do that series of Hit 1 in the Fairway. Does anybody remember that? All right, let's take a break.

Starting point is 00:42:12 That was your first murder case? Yes, sir. Fear to say this was the biggest case of your career? Yes, sir. Rape a murder for a child. Just as bad as it gets. I would think so. Evil, wake up.
Starting point is 00:42:23 I'm the one that saw the murder take place by Krivac and DePippo. Anthony DePippo showed no signs of remorse, appearing unfazed after being sentenced to the maximum. I said I'm not guilty. I'll take it to the grief. Listen to the devil's quarry on the Iheart radio app. Apple Podcast. or wherever you get your podcasts.

Hey, I'm Hoda Kotby, host of the podcast, Joy 101 with Hoda Kotby. Together, we're going to have meaningful conversations with the world's most fascinating people, like when actress Olivia Munn shared how she overcame fierce health challenges. I've gone through breast cancer and then helped my mother through breast cancer, and that was more difficult. There's a lot of people who understand postpartum depression.
Starting point is 00:43:25 I was not prepared for postpartum anxiety. Listen to Joy 101 with Hoda Kotby on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I love the sounds, the buzzing from the stadium, the chanting from the fans, the announcers calling the place soccer, football, at home. Why do I watch the World Cup? That's like asking me, why do I breed? I inherited that fandom from my mom. I like watching it with my dad. It's a connecting force.
Starting point is 00:43:59 From Futuro Studios, I'm Fernanda Chavari, and this is American Football, a show about soccer culture in the U.S. and its underdog roots. We go beyond the game to the people and the stories that make it great. A soccer game is a festival. It's not just a game. It's your culture. I took an elbow to my head, which cracked my skull. It is an American game. The Brazilians don't like hearing that, though. Are they the only ones that don't like that?
Starting point is 00:44:27 Nobody likes that. As we get ready for the Men's World Cup this summer, listen to American Football as part of the My Coutura Podcast Network, available on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. All right, let us welcome Nick Baumgartner with us, who is a senior writer at The Athletic, one of the best in the business when it comes to analyzing the NFL draft.
Starting point is 00:44:54 Michigan Native, who covered the Wolverines program for a bunch of years, has a Lions podcast called Welcome to Detroit. But when it comes to draft evaluation for the athletic, I'm a big Nick Baumgartner guy. So thanks to Nick for coming on. Nick, thanks for talking with this, man. Absolutely. How are you doing?
Starting point is 00:45:09 I'm doing pretty good. Yeah, just some questions I was thinking before you came on. Number one, I did see, and something that you had mentioned was Diego Pavia. Like, what's going to happen with Diego Pavia? I don't know. You know, at best, at best, he's going to be a backup of some sort. worked in the NFL. But I'm not sure if that's, you know, where that's going to go.
Starting point is 00:45:31 I mean, he's very small. He's an outlier in so many ways with the size and everything else. But also, like, I am curious how many teams, we saw this last year with Shredor Sanders. I'm curious how many teams are wanting to invest in a quarterback who's going to come with baggage, who's going to be like, I want to have this media career. I want to be like a budding, you know, this, that, the other. So I don't know if it'll be more than just like a flash. Maybe he gets a try up in camp, and that's the all we,
Starting point is 00:45:56 see he bounces around for a minute and then he's maybe off to some minor league situation i'm not sure but i just don't think he has the size or sort of the requisite arm talent to do it in the NFL the NFL don't they don't really want backups who want reporters at their locker right right that's kind of the thing i mean that was the thing we should do or that i think people you know they got a lot of people got their feelings for a lot of different reasons some of it was valid some of it wasn't but the reason why he fell as far as he did which it was a fall obviously It was a multiple round deal. It was because we don't want the backup quarterback
Starting point is 00:46:30 because that's what he's coming in here to do at best to distract from every other thing that we're doing, including our starter, our offense, our offensive coordinator, whatever else it is. We'll put up with that if it's a generational starter, maybe, but we're not going to do it with a backup. And I think that that's sort of the end of the day thing with quarterbacks right now.
Starting point is 00:46:49 Pretty much settled. Mendoza is going to go to the Raiders at 1. But where does Mendoza fall into like the last few years of quarterbacks. Yeah. It's a great question. I think he's probably somewhere a little bit lower than maybe Cam Ward, maybe right around the same areas, Cam Ward.
Starting point is 00:47:07 I think he's a quality future starter, you know, maybe mid-levels, you know, sometimes that scares people, but I think that that's fine. Like, I think he's, my comp for him is a more athletic Jared Gough. Like, I think if you protect him and you put, you know, a good offensive line in front of him, give him a good run game, you know, a capable defense, he's going to be okay. like he's going to be able to win games, get a team to a Super Bowl, do all the things that, you know, we expect from a starter who's capable, who's going to be an extension guy and make a lot of money. Kirk Cousins is another great comp for him. Maybe not a guy that, like, lights anybody up every, you know, for the rest of his career, but a guy that's hard to ignore who's very consistent.
Starting point is 00:47:45 Just probably not generational, you know, I guess if that makes any sense, but just a solid player who I don't think is going to be a bad NFL quarterback. Which also makes sense as to why they would get Kurt Cousins to come to. the Raiders before they draft Mendoza, right? Yeah, it's a perfect I thought that was a perfect addition. I'm a big fan of you bring a rookie in. I want that rookie to be able to at least compete with and beat out a veteran,
Starting point is 00:48:08 a capable of a veteran. Let's see if he can what he's got in camp number one. And then number two, you know, when that happens, or if it happens, whatever it is, either way, Mendoza is going to be able to work with Kirk Cousins all year. And Kirk Cousins is, you know, a pretty selfless guy. He's going to be there for it. No matter
Starting point is 00:48:24 what, if he doesn't win the job, he'll be Mendoza's biggest fan. And even for a year, if it's no more than that, whatever it is, you know, that's going to be invaluable, you know, knowledge that he's going to be able to get from a guy who's been around for a long time. So I thought that was great. I was looking at your latest mock. Only one quarterback going on the first round for you. And these other guys have a chance to move up? So I think Ty Simpson for me is sort of in that a little bit lower than the Jackson Dirt thing, maybe last year that range, but probably right in that same area.
Starting point is 00:48:50 Like it wouldn't shock me if somebody really likes Ty Simpson or a couple teams really like Ty Simpson and somebody at the bottom of the first, maybe makes it move up. Maybe, you know, Houston trades out or somebody like this at like 25, 26 somewhere in there. Somebody comes up and gets their quarterback, you know, low risk, whatever it is. They want to get him on the extra year at the end of the first round. That's about the only thing I could see. Otherwise, I think you could probably just sit and wait, you know, because I think he's, I don't think he's a first round, first round quarterback.
Starting point is 00:49:18 I think that this class in general is probably a little bit like last year, maybe a little bit weaker, but probably pretty close to what last year. years was. So I think DART was right in that same range. Simpson could be good. We just don't know. And I think that that's the big mystery right now. And beyond that, it becomes Garrett Nussmeyer, who I think is a solid backup candidate Carson Beck and et cetera. Nussmeier is interesting because if you had asked before the season, you're like, Nussmire for sure is going to be a first-round pick, at least according to the census. However, he didn't have a great year, but also he was hurt, or at least supposedly he was
Starting point is 00:49:50 hurt through most of the year. Is there a chance that if a guy was hurt that he actually can move up a bunch, though, if that was the factor that made him not perform his last year? I think, I don't know about a bunch, but I think in Nussmeyer's case, it'll be significant. Because I think when teams saw him at the senior bowl and they saw him fully healthy, it was a different deal.
Starting point is 00:50:07 It was like, whoa, this is the guy that we thought we were going to see in terms of armed talent, in terms of mobility, in terms of consistent accuracy, all those types of things from the pocket. So it was like, he was much healthier in January, February, so you could see it. And I don't think he talked about it much during the season. Pretty
Starting point is 00:50:23 tough guy. I think that did help him quite a bit that he was healthier and he came out and showed up. Mark Bernowski's another guy lower on the list, obviously. That was probably undraftable but went to the Shrine Bowl. After playing in Iowa's bowl game, also a little bit healthier, but was in no way healthy during the season was terrible.
Starting point is 00:50:40 In the bowl game, in the Shrine Bowl, it was really good, and I think it will probably be maybe a candidate for a day three pick. But in Nussmeyer's case, I don't think the gap between Ty Simpson and Garrett Nussmeyer is super wide. I think Nussmeyer is a really quality future backup, who could steal a couple starts for you here and there,
Starting point is 00:50:55 smart player, son of a coach, all that stuff. Who I think he's going to be an asset for somebody. I don't think he'll make it to day three. I think he might be gone by the end of day two there. Isn't it a wild, when you look at Reese or Sunny Stiles or Carnell Tate or Caleb Downs, that Ohio State didn't win the freaking national championship, considering the talent they had on their team?
Starting point is 00:51:13 Well, I won it last year, I guess, so you give him a little bit of a break, but you flip it on the other side and you're like, Jeremiah Smith for next year is just like he's going to be the number one pick. Julian Sane is it really good, quarterback. They get the running back there. That's really good. I don't know how they didn't pull it off. But yeah, defensively,
Starting point is 00:51:29 this was as freaky as they're probably ever going to have, I would imagine. I mean, you've got a guy like Sunny Stiles who wouldn't even really know what his position, I guess, maybe technically he'll be in the NFL. It could be like five things. The guy could end up playing Downs is awesome. Rees is awesome. So yeah, tough break for the buck
Starting point is 00:51:45 guys. But I mean, we're not going to feel too bad for Ohio State. They win a lot, so I don't think anybody's trying to outside of Ohio. There's a couple guys that are probably top talent-wise, but they don't play a position that would get them drafted as high. And I'm curious, both of those guys, one would be Jeremiah Love. A lot of people say he could be one, two best players in the draft, just as position as a running back. And the other one, what you mentioned was Caleb Downs. Like, those two guys, do you believe they are elite that's just their position, hold them back a little bit? Oh, absolutely. I think Love is my number one
Starting point is 00:52:15 player in the class. I think him for sure. He is, you know, I think he's, I certainly have him above Ash and Jeanty from last year. I think there's several teams the NFL that would agree. I think most of the NFL probably would agree with that one at this point. I think love is in the Bejan Robinson Jemir Gibbs tier, right? Those guys are about to set the market here, I think, in this coming
Starting point is 00:52:34 off season. And that's really what you're looking for now in a modern NFL running back. The McCaffrey thing kind of too, where it's like, I don't ever have to take him off the field. He'd be a great receiver. When I need him to be a great receiver, he can run inside, he can run outside, can do anything. We don't have to be limited with what we call. He fits in any offense.
Starting point is 00:52:50 If we have to fire our coach next year, it doesn't matter. He's still going to be the guy. So I think Love for sure. We'll see where he goes. I can even see some teams maybe wanting to move up to get him because, I mean, if a contender maybe even or somebody a little bit lower because he's so talented. Like Kansas City signed Walker because I don't think they thought he was going to make it
Starting point is 00:53:08 that far. So I think that's number one there. And then Downs is also in that boat. He's not as like athletically like whoa as like a Kyle Hamilton or an Eamon Worry, which I think some people, you know, they look at that. say, okay, well, I'm out then, you know, whatever. But mentally and, like, as a football player, he's the most disciplined and best tackler, smartest defender, I think, probably in the class.
Starting point is 00:53:31 And a guy, like, again, there's just no way he's not going to be a really good player for a long time in the NFL. The Jets are at 2 and 16. The Jets are also terrible. What do they do? I think they just go best player. I think the reason why you trade all your guys, like they did last year, to get all those assets.
Starting point is 00:53:46 And remember now, they have a bunch next year, too. So it's not they're one of the few teams. I would say, hey, you can be a little bit patient with your quarterback. A rookie quarterback in this class is not going to come in and save that mess. So take the best player available at every single stop. I don't care what the guy's playing. I don't care what he does. For me, that's Arville Reese at number two.
Starting point is 00:54:05 Take him and then move on. If it's Jordan Tyson or whoever that drops you at 16. If it's Kenyon, Sadiq, do that. I really don't care. They need literally everything, premium picks in the first three rounds this year and next year. That's how you rebuild yourself out. that's sort of what the Lions did when Aaron Glenn was there. They traded Stafford, got a bunch of picks, and then really were bad, but like let those rookie guys kind of developed together.
Starting point is 00:54:28 And then by year three, away we go. I don't know if the Jets will give him enough time. But like from a franchise standpoint, that's what needs to happen. Kind of a JV version of that's the Cowboys. They have two picks in the first round, two, 12, and 20. Like, what are they going to do? Dallas is a really good spot. They've actually, you know, everybody kind of crashed on them for that Micah Parsons trade.
Starting point is 00:54:45 And it was weird. I'm not going to lie that it wasn't weird. But they got good return out of that. They've done a nice job, you know, kind of rebuilding their defensive line. They drafted well last year. Now they're in position, I think, at 12. And, you know, they can either package up and go get their favorite corner if it's Jermad McCoy, if it's Mansour Delane, one of the two.
Starting point is 00:55:03 You know, those are kind of big needs that they could package up and go get their favorite safety if they wanted to do that. Or they could just sit and pick. And I think that they're in a good spot to just sit, get a really good corner there at 12 and then kind of do whatever they want at 26. and Dallas suddenly should be a team based on how they've drafted the last two years. I think if they hit this right should be a team that can contend for a playoff spot again and it wouldn't surprise anybody and be right back kind of in the conversation again.
Starting point is 00:55:27 Nah, let's be honest. That ain't going to happen. That's the Cowboys, yeah, let's be honest. You see that, right? I'm like, I mean, it could happen. It could happen. It's done well. A macro version of this draft, like when you zoom out, like to me, it's one quarterback and a lot of really strong defensive players, but what do you see?
Starting point is 00:55:42 Yeah, that's really what it is. This is a really good defense. offensive class. And I think really more than that, I would throw the tight ends in there and say that you got the tight ends, the linebackers, and the safeties. The NFL is moving toward those positions are going to be a big deal, right? Your tight end, we saw that last year with the Rams and some other teams putting the three out there to change the math defensively. We saw what Seattle did with Nikki Minowary, moving him around. He was a linebacker and a safety. He did everything. You want hybrid guys that can move on defense that can cover those freaky tight ends. And then on the other side, you want the
Starting point is 00:56:14 freaky tight end that can make the math a mess defensively. So those there's a bunch of them in this draft and I think for the first time and a long time the NFL's ready for them for the first time ever. Isaiah Simmons, if anybody remembers him from like 10 years ago, would have loved to be in this draft now because I think if he gets picked
Starting point is 00:56:30 today, he'd have been used properly tomorrow. So I think this is a good draft for sort of hybrid specialists and creative teams. I think if you've paid attention to Mike McDonald last year and most teams should have, there's quite a bit of stuff to gather here in this draft. Sadiq, the from Oregon's a freak athlete, right?
Starting point is 00:56:47 Oh, yeah, yeah. Just to complete, like, 439, 40, I think he was over 40 inches on the vertical. Outstanding blocker, outstanding blocking potential. I think he can get better. Outstanding blocker in space. Legit receiver. I mean, you can play the X.
Starting point is 00:57:02 He can play Z. It could line up in the slot. It can be a fullback, H-back, tight-end, regular, whatever it is. He can line up in pretty much every skill position, but quarterback and be an impact guy. And I think that he is kind of your modern prototype for what that X-factor offensive weapon is going to be going forward.
Starting point is 00:57:17 Like when we compare tight ends down the road, I think it's going to be Sadiq and Rock Bowers, the kid from, that's with the Raiders right now. I'm going to ask a final question. There's a reason I'm going to ask this last because it's about a guard and that's not a sexy question to ask. But most of the time, you know, it's tackles. It's the outside.
Starting point is 00:57:33 It's protect on the quarterback. You know, to see a guard in your top 15, and most of the top 15s, the kid from Penn State. How is a guard going so early? Oh, man. Well, Venga, you want a, he is. He is arguably, you could make an argument that he's up there with either Finnell or go in terms of the best offensive lineman, best run blocker probably in this draft.
Starting point is 00:57:53 And I think that's what seals it. He is easily the best interior lineman, number one, in this class. Number two, I think he's the best pound for pound, probably run blocker in the class. I mean, he moves people. You notice him on film. He's uprooting guys and getting him out of the hole on, you know, on a duo call or power, whatever it is. And that anymore is pretty rare.
Starting point is 00:58:12 A lot of these college teams, they like to play the zone stuff. They like to spread teams out, smaller guards. A lot of the centers this year are small, but not a lot of big gap centers. So this is a guy at Vanga who has played some tackle before also that could play either guard spot. And I think come into a team and immediately help reestablish or change the culture of their interior and really become, you know, help change their run game because I think that's what everybody's kind of looking for right now in the NFL. Selfishly, what do you want the Lions to do? Tackle would be great.
Starting point is 00:58:39 But Vanga, we just talked about him. I think he, if he could fall. 17. If you want it, you could get there. I think you got Mays that you just signed. You're moving penesial to left tackle. Put Juanae there at Left Guard and you've got a pretty awesome left side of your line again. Not as good as if you would have had with Rag now, but I mean, maybe long term it would have it would have a little bounced out. So that's what I want.
