We've got a couple people just out. But they played great. The defense stepped it up. whatever Iber Fluse is doing, he's doing great things. They're shifting, baby. I know they're playing the Jets, but that was going to say, you know what they're doing? They play the Jets. I know.

But people always say like, oh, man, don't you want like a more close game? It's like, no, no, exactly what happened Sunday is exactly what I like. Yeah, good Cowboys win. It was fun. Two, two and one now. And one. That's considered a winning record, though. Yeah.

Yes, by not saying he's the next coming of Josh Allen. And your guy Stevenson fumbling again? Dude, it was. Oh, don't get me started on him. Dude, the penalties? Oh, it's too much. Luckily, Buffalo might have been even worse as far as, like, penalties. I think they had a little more yards. They had another turnover. A couple bad turnovers for them. So that saved us.

It looks like, you're right. He can't even throw the ball. Yeah. And when he does, because I saw them post a clip. because I was flipping back and forth. I saw, I missed the long touchdown he threw, but I watched it like seven times. They're like Arches back.

Even, it's like an underarm fling. Yeah, he's... His mechanics are weird. And then for that one player, backup quarterback came in, throws a dart. Oh, my gosh, why can we add that guy? Arch's helmet came off

so the backup guy has to come in, freaking, like a 16 yard out. Boom. On the money? On the money. I didn't see it. It's number one and number two preseason are now not ranked.

Crazy. Penn State and Texas. That was an ugly. Penn State game. Oh, my God. Like, when we had, add them my parley, and they didn't hit, but I liked watching them lose more than I... Want to hit the parlay? Yeah, yeah, yeah.

or the running back like on a screen. I was watching it, I was working out, and then he throws, and it was just, it was over from there. They never got their bearings back. Yeah. You can look really good and have a bad game as a rookie. Sure. He reminds me of what Bo Nix was doing. last year when I was like, dude, I know he sucks right now, but he's going to be really good. I think Jackson's art's going to be good. He just does not know how to get down. He was way aggressive. He threw some bad picks.

But the Giants like five possessions in a row. It was like punt, punt, fumble, fumble, interception. Yeah, they're all often. It just didn't. Didn't look the same. With no neighbors. Oh. It's funny that rookie quarterbacks do act like that.

Like, they just don't. I would think the first thing the coaches do like preseason. All right, here's the first thing. You're going to slide. We are going to protect you. You're not going to be an idiot. This is the NFL. But they always do it.

They're just like, I'm not sliding. I don't think it's a rookie thing. I think it's how aggressive they are as runners, more so than it being a rookie thing. Because I think Josh Allen did that for two years, almost three. Sure. And I think they tell them, they tell them. But it takes usually a couple of hard hits to realize, oh, this is better. They're like stubborn kids.

But think about like growing up your whole life in high school and college. Like, you are the dude. And you never slid. And you never had to. Like you're running people over in high school. college not so much but still like you're the dude. I know. Kind of running people over and you get to the NFL and it's probably like

oh I really can't do this. Nope. But you have to do it to learn that. Especially if you've always done it because instinctually it's in you. I don't think you just go I'm going to start playing and I'm just going to slide all the time naturally. Especially if you're going for first downs because your idea has always been I got to get the first down to get the most

yards possible. Instead of the NFL a lot of times live to play again. The guys that look most natural or the baseball players to Kylie Murray's. Yeah, because they know how to slide. It looked like a small kid had escaped. Oh my God.

Yesterday when Kylie Murray, I saw him running around the right side. I thought it was a, dude, I thought it was a child. He looked like a child running. He does, he does. He does. He's so small. And I know he's small. That's always the joke.

But he was like, he broke and he was around the right side and he was running. He was like, me, yeah, you know, it was rooting for the little child to get away from the big man that was chasing him. Don't hurt him. What about when he got hit in the head with that snap? He had to go into like concussion. I know. The ball hit him so hard in the helmet.

That's what happens to a kid. That's what I'm saying. They were like, Tyler Murray might have a concussion. And they showed the clip and I thought it was going to be of him like not sliding. No, it was a shotgun snap

to hit him in the head. I mean, how hard was that snap? It was like, oh, thar. You can't hit a child in the head with the ball. Okay, that's pretty funny. More notes. I do have a note about that. The head?

No. The Cardinals running back who flipped the ball. Oh, my God. the one guys. How does this cross it? Just cross the line. Every year there's somebody who does this.

Yes. College or NFL. Yep. Who flips it and they have to go to replay and see if they started flipping it right before they crossed the line. It's not like the line is, it's just like get across it and do whatever you want. You do row, row, row your boat. You can do a snow angel, whatever you want.

Just get in the middle of the end zone. It always happens to when there's a lot of time to think about it. It never happens after like three yards out. or it's a quarterback bootleg, you know, from seven yards out. It's always something with a 35 or 40 yard catch or run, which was this case. And they have a long time to be like, oh, yeah, yeah. Ooh, they toss it. It's real stupid.

Yeah. But even, like, was it Jamar Chase or somebody, like, scored him and just walked in backwards? Did you see that? Like, even that, like, just get across the line and do whatever you are. I don't mind that. I don't mind, like, the, Sean, old school, like, catch it. Until he actually did it, though. He did flip it, though.

He was probably the worst one. But yeah, no, I don't mind that either. I don't mind you going in backwards. Just go in. Sideways. Who cares? But even the walk like, oh, gee. Even like Justin Jefferson.

Like, he did a thing where he caught it. Oh, yeah. Back home. Yeah, I just slowly walked in. I think that looks cool when they do that. Yeah. That means you're so far ahead of everybody? Yeah.

You can just screw with them. But if you're running full speed and you still drop it. It's like you made it all the way there. And this is what you do with it. The funniest one, and I'm glad it's not my team that's doing it. But the funniest one is whenever they do the, I pull my hamstring. Oh, yeah.

it's like becoming like Really? I saw a video of him yelling at him I didn't see a punch Like he right after he got done yelling He like hit him in the chest or the arm like Punched him You know what? He's got shoulder pads on it

He deserved it No I don't know I didn't see it Like a punch in the face would be different I didn't see He makes him take his helmet off so he can punch him in the face Take it off take your helmet off Because I'm going to punch you That's different

Okay Punching the arm Come on. Let's see some other stuff here I have. Mark Sanchez, what the crap. That went from pure sympathy to WTF. As the news came in more and more. Because everybody was like prayers for Mark Sanchez,

prayers for Mark Sanchez. And I get it. Mark Sanchez stabbed late at night. You're thinking he probably got mugged. Probably had a nice watch on. Something happened. And nope, some dude with a truck. Sanchez was drunk.

Try to get in the truck. Because at first you hear, the guy was parked in a place and Sanchez was like, you can't park there. And then Sanchez tried to get in the truck. And the guy pepper sprayed him. And then Sanchez continued. So then he stabbed him.

Yeah. And the guy said he felt like he was fighting for his life. That's crazy. And the guy was like 70. Yeah, 69 years old. Why is Sanchez trying to beat up a seven-year-old? Right, right. And what are you doing in the alley of a bar at 1230 at night?

Yeah, so that's a good question. Like, so was it like trying to find a parking space and that guy was delivering something? Sanchez, I don't think, was trying to find a parking space for himself. No. What I read, I couldn't even, I don't even know if this was true because so many things keep coming out. But like they were literally in the back alley like running sprints or like doing something back there. That's what I saw too. And the truck was in the way.

And they couldn't run. Yeah. Okay. So they were just, so now you get it. Well, so when you're drunk, sometimes you're like, I can race you, I can beat you or maybe you're doing like a little sprint races back there. Yeah, that's what they were doing. Yeah, I think that's what they were doing. Okay.

And then the truck parked in the way of the sprints. Yeah. So he told the guy to move his truck. And the guy was like, no. Oh boy. And that's what it led to. Which is just, yeah. And also imagine you're like a small 70-year-old man,

and there's a 6-2-2-230-pound Mark Sanchez trying to get in and beat you up. You know what you do? You spray and spray. And then when that doesn't stop him, you know what you do? Anything. Yeah. Because he got the crap, not Sanchez, the truck driver. He looked terrible in the hospital.

He had gashes on his face. Yeah. So he'd get stabbed too? Like... I think he got beat up. Like, I think Sanchez got. Again, this is just me seeing pictures and then reading little... news

sections because it's all the same except a news story will have slightly different variation of what we read yeah it was a crazy one and that was Friday night Saturday night

If I had to tear my prayers, I'd go old man first. Yeah? I hope Sanchez gets... I hope he's okay, but I don't waste any prayers on him. I've got a double prayer up on the old man. Can't be doing that, man.

They freaking torched him. He was a LSU player who supposedly was in the created the car accident, killed the person. He ended up killing himself. he didn't even do it. Now the footage just come out

and he was like 70 yards behind. Oh my goodness. Yeah, I can give you some of this. It's just how the world, how the internet treated, Kair and Lacey. When the story first hit, I mean, he was villainized quickly.

They said he caused a deadly crash. It was flying down a highway in Louisiana. They was passing cars in a no passing zone and then drove away from the scene while a man lay dying. That story was everywhere. All over social media, people were commenting on the story.

People piled on. and then we're calling him a killer. And then it was proven that he didn't cause the crash. His lawyer released footage showing his car was about 70 yards behind when the impact happened. He didn't hit anybody. He didn't touch another car. And there's now, I watch the body cam footage from the cop, there's now evidence that some witnesses may have been coached in their statements.

Oh, my goodness. Even prosecutors were unsure that he had done anything. But everybody, the internet, had completely attacked. So he killed himself in Yep April Yep Because he was about to go

And so legendary football player in the 80s for Oklahoma. He's the only person to ever win the Buckkus Award twice. He won a national championship with the Sooners. Yeah, because every school that we would go to on the road, all of their players even when we got to you know when we played in the orange ball I remember of Washington's players they'd get us together on these little you know orange bowl like trips and stuff

and we were on some crews and I think that's when it first hit me all of the players from from Washington were going hey man hey boss man I'm going to get a picture with you you know and they gave us those little Kodak cameras and stuff I guess it's like the little freebie stuff that they would

give you in the swag bag. And I'm thinking, is this weird? Why am I taking pictures with the opposing team? I don't know how my teammates are going to feel about that. But the team, my teammates were also, they kind of enjoyed the ride too because, you know, I would just say shit because I felt like we were good enough. We could back it up, you know, and it was just all organic. I wasn't doing it to like, you know, you know.

market myself. I was just, you know, living my best life and the best, you know, school possible and everything was working. All the stars were aligning. So I was along for the roller coaster ride, but I was bringing everybody along with me. And we were all having such a blast. And then it just kind of everywhere we went, you know, we'd, you know, at the end of the game, the cheerleaders would come over, hey, we want to get a picture. And I'm going, you know, I don't sing, I don't dance. I just play football. We're really good. I'm not as good. without these guys, but it just seemed like all the notoriety

was coming down on me. I mean, I helped a little bit because I cut my hair weird. I didn't think it was weird. I just cut it because my old man wouldn't let me cut it in high school, and I was just like, well, he's not, he's not here now,

so I can do whatever I want to. That wasn't like a big statement when you cut your hair the first time? Like to the world? No, I mean, it was more of a f*** to my dad because my dad was like, you know, hair. I pay $7 to get that bowl cut and that's the cut you're getting. I said, but dad, everybody in this,

you know, in high school, right before fall ball, they all go get their hair buzzed and you're not doing that. You're going to get your bowl cut and that's what you're getting. So, I mean, my dad was one of those you live by his rules or you don't live. And I appreciated that. I mean, I would rather have a dad that was that way than a dad who was trying to be my friend because I see the consequences of parents trying to be their kids' friends instead of their parents. And they're not supposed to be their friends. They're supposed to be there to make them hate life so they can get the hell out of the house

and grind their own foundation and build their own house with the tools of hard love, tough love. And thank God for that kind of relationship. I mean, I wish he was a little more warm and fuzzy and happy, but I know that that was what he was capable. love. He gave me as much as he had. And, you know, it was what it was. I wish it was more, but I appreciate what I did get from him. But, you know, all of the stuff that really happened really was, it just really happened organically. I remember when we were going on the Orange Bowl

that first year, I went and got the haircut. I want to say I got that haircut about halfway through the season. It was after, I know it was after the Texas game because I've seen pictures with me with just long scraggly hair. So sometime during that season, and I remember going to their orange bowl, I asked the girl, said, I used to be a towhead. I'd love to be a towhead again. Can you do that? And she goes, yeah, just sit down. And we were leaving that day to go on the bus to the plane, to get to, you know, to go to Miami. And I was already packed. So I had made the appointment so I had I could get trimmed up nice and clean and then get on the bus and then go and back in those days if you missed a bus you're paying your own way I mean they might be upset with you but to get to

get down there you got to pay your own way and I'm sure you'd have to get up and do some stadium stairs at 530 in the morning but I remember sitting in the chair and I'm looking up my watch and I'm going holy shit I'm going to miss the bus you got to get this stuff off man I got to go so she washed it off I didn't even look at it and I got to the bus, I walked on the bus, and the guys just started donkey laughing. I mean, I'm just, what? What's, what's matter? Your hair?

I said, yeah, what's wrong with it? It's orange. It's orange? I looked in the, like, the reflection. I can't see it. Is it orange, really? She's, yeah. Well, we're going to the orange ball.

So it was like everything happened, you know, accidentally, you know, with a slight bit of on-purpose. I corrected it later after I got back, but, you know, it was like, you know, everything that I did was like, how outrageous can I push this? How much further?

Here he is. Jason, appreciate you coming on, man. Oh, I appreciate it. Thank you having me on. Hey, so I saw you tweet that the SEC is wide open. Yeah, I don't even know where to start except for Texas. Probably sucks. Like, let's start there.

Texas kind of sucks, right? I tell you what, I knew that was going to be a tough game for Texas. When you think about how they went to Ohio State and that first game, they wouldn't able to score many points again, Matt Patricia's defense, who kind of laid a blueprint for a lot of SEC schools as far as like doing the zone blitzes and how to hide blitzes that you see in the NFL. He's kind of brought the college a little bit. But I knew Florida played great defense all year.

They've kept them in every game. They've struggled offensively. And I just kind of figured that once they got a buy week and an opportunity to work on their passing game and fit some things there that they could be a good football team. And it would be a dangerous team for Florida to go, I mean for Texas to go in there and play. Yeah, with Texas next week and they do have to play Oklahoma. were we unfair on the expectations onto Archmany? Yeah, on my first show or a podcast,

I deal with Taylor Davis, I told everybody I said, you know, you have to pump the brakes and awarding kids, you know, trophies before they actually play. And will he be in a screen talent in the future? He probably will. But as of today, I was just like, you can't put that much pressure on the kid

that haven't started in college yet in his first two games that he played in in college was against, you know, lesser opponents. And he came in and sparing time. So it wasn't like he was a full-time starter and having to play this schedule. You know, once you become the target, now everyone shoots for you.

And unfortunately for him, he was a target before his career even started at Texas. So I just think, you know, he carried a lot of pressure on his shoulders. You know, you feel like he has to live up to, you know, his uncles and everybody. That's what everyone expects.

That's what everyone expects. And I don't think it was fair. for him to have to deal with all of that noise in the beginning as far as, you know, everyone's saying he's the top Heisman candidate. He's the first pick in the draft next year and all these different things. It's almost

like the media was kind of building them up, you know, just waiting for him to mess up so they've got an opportunity to, you know, to have bigger stories. Oklahoma's undefeated. They'll play Texas next week, but they don't have John Meteer playing. I mean, he was a Heisman favorite until he had to go in for hand surgery. Hawkins

looked pretty good last week, but how do you see this game happening? Oh, Red River rivalry. It's always a tough game, right? If John Teter was in that game, I lean towards Oklahoma heavily. I say heavily in the rival games. Seven points is heavy. But, you know, because of what he

brings to the table. And I saw him play against Auburn defense, and I figured our defense was one of the better ones, you know, in college football, you know, he made the plays that he had to make when it was there. And to me, that's the true testament of a quarterback. When they had to go down and win the game. He took him down to drive. He stood in the pocket, you know, took some hits to the

chest, and he was still delivering balls accurately when he had to. And I thought we put a lot of pressure on him from a defensive standpoint to get him off his mark. And he just kept chopping wood and kept chopping and eventually they end up beating us at the end. But, you know, Oklahoma's going to lean heavy on their defense. You know, Mason Jr. is a beast. He's probably the best pass rusher or one of top three pass rushers in college football. He has speed, he has size. He can come off the ball with power. And so I know Tess is going to have to try to chip block him with the running back as well.

But I think in this game, again, Arch is about to go against another top defense. And the difference between Florida and Oklahoma, Oklahoma has young corners. You know, they had a true freshman that they're starting, that they had on Cam Cove. And I thought we was able to, you know, take advantage of that. I think Shart would try to do the same thing this week against Oklahoma. Speaking of your school, Auburn, Jackson Arnold feels like he's like 25 years old because, you know, he's a five-star kid. He was a freshman last year at Oklahoma, but it feels like he's lived a long life. How do you see his development so far this year? I think for Jackson is the biggest thing, when you play for defensive coordinators, right? And I think when he was at Oklahoma, it's all about, you know, I don't want to turn the ball over because we have this great defense and we don't want to get off the opposing team something easy. I think the hardest thing for him right now is, you know, just couldn't it look.

You know, he doesn't want to make the mistakes. He doesn't want to throw an interception. And I think sometimes you may need to throw one, you know, just to kind of feel, you know, get it off your back a little bit and just, you know, being able to take chances sometimes because, you know, he's a dual threat quarterback. He can run, he can throw. And I think the thing right now is just trying to figure out the offensive line up front. I think that's where everything starts at is getting better pass protection.

And I think for him is just trust what you see. and when you see it, just let it go. You know, in this league, guys are not going to be wide, wide open often for guys two to three yards in front of someone that's open, you know, and just trust your arm and trust what you see and just let it go. So I think to get him to the next level, he has to start trusting his eyes a little bit more and just let the ball go.

Who do you think is the best team in the SEC right now? Oh, man. Ooh, that's a tough one because every week is like, you know, at one point everyone saying the LSU look good at they beat, Clemson. Then once you saw a couple weeks of Clemson, you're like, okay. And now LSU offense is sputter. And then, you know, Tess's offense, you know, everyone was waiting to see who they play after they played Ohio State because, you know, they beat some other teams, but it wasn't the same size value as SEC or Big Ten. And now they lost two of those big games. You know, Alabama is trending in the

right direction. I thought Vanderbilt could have won that game this weekend. They don't turn the ball over twice in the red zone. I hate to see it, I guess, right now. It has to be Alabama. Yeah, to look at the AP that came out, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Alabama, Georgia, you got all these teams up, and the great thing about the SEC

is also the worst thing about the SEC. It'll all shake itself out. But man, they're just eating each other up every week. Yeah, it's the NFL in college. Yeah, that's why I tell everybody. Next year we go to nine SEC games. So on any given Saturday, anybody can be beat. You saw Mississippi State, you know,

could have beat Tennessee two weeks ago. They gave up two touchdowns to the defense for Tennessee's defense. So they spared them 14 points and still winning overtime. You think about, you know, A&M. They look really good defensively, but offensively they struggle a lot. I know they kind of pulled away from Mississippi State a little bit in third quarter this week. But overall, they're still struggling a little bit offensively except for the Notre Dame game. When I think about Ole Miss, Ole Miss to me is the, that's the team you got to keep

your eye on. Coming into this year, everyone knew they had to replace a lot of defensive players. They had replaced Jackson Dart, some of the receivers. And man, they found something. This kid is shamless. You know, this kid come from a, you know, basically, D2 level. And D1A, he's shining right now. Like, he's throwing over 300 yards. He's rushing the ball. You know, Austin Simmons was a good talent as well. But, you know, Austin, you know, had a couple turnovers. But this kid protects the football. And he, um, and he's just, leading his team pretty good and team believe in him. And defensive, I think Pete and Goldberg got these guys, Pete Golden, got these guys playing

higher level than what they expected. So to me, their schedule gets a little hard, so we're going to find a little bit more out of the Ole Miss as we get rolling here. But to beat LSU, I thought in their backyard was a big, big win for them. When you were playing, and I want to take Tuscaloosa out because that was a rivalry game, but when you were playing at Auburn, what was the craziest loudest stadium you played in? Oh, that was, you know, LSU at nighttime. You know, anytime you went to Baton Rouge at nighttime,

you gave everybody all day to get hammered. So by the time the game started, you know, they had this big tiger that would sit beside your, like your locker room, you come out. And he's like, man, a big tiger, you know, trying to intimidate. You know, I'm like, alone that things stay in the cage, we're good. But I tell you, man, it's, it was live. I'll tell you what, Auburn at nighttime.

and we play Georgia this week at night. I'm not being biased, but Auburn is probably one of the loudest places I've heard or seen it at nighttime in a home stadium outside of Baton Rouge. You don't think there's a little bit of bias there? I'm just saying, you know, it gets rocking, man. I'm talking about it gets rocking.

No, swag surf come on at the end. And the fourth quarter, you know, people get intense and, you know, especially if it's a big game like Georgia, Bama, LSU, you know, all these big teams, like it gets really, really loud. I would say this. I played in Florida at nighttime. The swamp gets loud. I really like the swamp. Texas and them, they like to sway back and forth, but I haven't been there at a night game. Both times Auburn played has been daytime that I've been calling games. But Tennessee is loud. I played in Tennessee in 04, and they had 110,000 and, you know, and they get the singing Rocky Top. So the SEC has a lot of premier stadiums that even in the NFL they can't even compare to because just the loudness and how intense they get, it is fun to play in.

You mentioned 04, I think of 04, I think about how you guys got screwed, you know, you're undefeated, you don't get to play for a national title. Does that still bother you? Yeah, it always will probably, you know, just the fact that you realize how hard it is to play in this league and I think we kind of set the run after us. I think the SEC went on like a seven, eight game, a winning streak in the national championship run. So it bothers you a little bit,

but I always tell people, man, no one can take away the undefeited season. No one can take away what you accomplished and all the different things that, you know, we was able to do that year, I think started a conversation about the playoff system, right? When you think about as a whole, these guys having a chance to now go out there and compete

and now you get into the dance where before you have to let a computer system decide, you know, who gets to play in the dance. Do you have a favorite drive when someone asks you that question from back in Auburn, like a drive maybe late in the game that you're like, man, that was the one? Oh, yeah, I can always go back to the LSU game that year. We're down nine to three and it's like we went forward on the one-yard line one time and we didn't get it. So we only had three points on the board at that time. It was a, you know, a jugging out, just defensive.

battle. I think over 30-some players, when people went back and looked at it on both of those teams, together played in National Football League. And it was one of the hardest hitting games I ever played in. And, you know, five minutes to go in the game and, you know, Nick Saban was a head coach and much champs, the defense

coordinator at that time. And, you know, he was defending national champs and we got to go down to go down and we know this may be our only shot. And we go in a long drive. And I remember getting the fourth and 12 coach Coach Borges, who's our offense coordinator,

they say, hey, we're going to do a rollout to the right because we've got to get you away from the Blitz. We know saving the Muncheon, we're going to go cover zero. And so true enough, they went cover zero, brought everyone, and we knew there's one guy we couldn't block that was the furthest defender, which was the corner on the blitz. And we went up sprint to the right, and I just remember, you know, two guys about the hammer me.

And I knew Courtney Taylor was one-on-one outside. I just remember just kind of letting the ball go a little bit and putting a little air on it so you can see it when you come out of it because I knew I was going to have time to wait for him. I just remember getting hammered. And the next thing, I know I heard the crowd getting loud and going crazy. And I was just like, I couldn't see if he caught it yet. So I got up and I saw the jumbo-tron and everything that he had caught it.

And we got the first down and then got the third and 12, which base was third in goal. I think we lost shorts in the first play. And we run, you know, a double stick nod. I played with two inside receivers. We knew we were going to get some type of too high quarters look. And true enough, according to Taylor, again. ran a double move, was able to find me in the back of the end zone, and the crowd just went crazy, probably the loudest I've heard in Auburn.

I wasn't there in 13 when they won the kick sits. I was actually the pros at that time, but the loudest I've heard in there was that game, and it was going crazy. Was there ever a time that you were so prepared that when the defense got into whatever, whatever they were giving you, whatever shell, whatever, that you were like, oh, I know exactly what we're doing. Like, it was all, it felt like it was so, easy that night. Oh, yeah, first half of Tennessee, 2004. I think we was 31 and three at half time.

You know, we go to Rocky Top and, you know, cameras everywhere. The river is all lit up. I know the sea of tangerine orange is everywhere. And, you know, here comes old Auburn. And I remember that week, it was a top 10 matchup and everyone kept talking about Tennessee, Tennessee, Tennessee, and we're just like, hold on now. We got a veteran football team and no one's, you know, is giving us a lot of. created college game day was there and uh i know charles barkley i saw him on the set earlier that day and you know how he was talking about you know how he felt all we're going to come in there and win this game and the reasons why and that's the game we started locking arms if everyone

got and go back and uh you know we called i said hard fighting soldiers back in the day you know that was the book that our team chaplain came up with our name and he based it off um you know the story of the the 300 and uh so we ended up locking arms. And we came out that night and said, look, it's us against everybody in here. And, you know, it's 110,000 people in the stands. And it's, you know, there's only 11 can play on defense, offense, and special teams. So everyone will focus on, you know, your job. But, you know, we're going to come out of here, Victoria's night. Man, we came out that night, man, like laying a hammer, you know, Ronnie Brown was running the ball hard, cattle that running the ball hard.

And passing game was on point. You know, at halftime, we look up with 31 and three in the second half, kind of knell back a little bit because at that point in time it just controlled the game and get out of there. But, you know, that was one of those games. In the SEC championship, we had to play them again. And it's hard to beat a team twice in the SEC. And here we go playing Tennessee again. And what got it all started when, you know, one of their defense linebackers said that was a flute what happened at night in Tennessee. So, you know, we made sure that we beat them twice so that they can remember that it wasn't a flu. How satisfying is it to be in another stadium?

You're the away team and you shut the crowd up. Oh, man, especially there, right? You hear Rocky Top every two minutes. Like, yeah, I love Tennessee atmosphere, but you hear Rocket Top like every two minutes and pregame, it's all you heard. Time again, get your start, it's all you heard, kick off all you heard. And it's a great atmosphere.

It's one of the fun atmosphere to play in college football. But at halftime, when everyone's quiet and, You know, and then at the end of the third quarter, you start seeing the people, you know, twink out of the stadium. I mean, you must have done your job. And it doesn't get any better than that. You can go in the opposing stadium. At the end of the third quarter, you start seeing their fan base leave. Let me ask you one NFL question.

Do you remember your first NFL touchdown? Who was it, too? Chris Cooley. I think it was Tampa Bay game. We played Tampa in 2006. No, it was Carolina Panthers in 2006, Cooley. I think it was like a 67-yard, 70-yard touchdown. I remember I had to start in like in the middle of the season, you know, like, so

Braneo at that point in time was a starter. And then all of a sudden they said, hey, well, we're going to throw you out there against Derek Brooks and a run day barber and, you know, and Tampa Bay defense for your first NFL start. Yeah, okay. You know, that's when Tampa's defense was really, really good and everything. But it was a sight in time, you know, pro football. It's changing.

You see a lot of college now in pro football, the type of offenses they're running. The game has changed your back with so much, like as far as how you can hit someone, how you couldn't hit no one. Back in the day, people hit you as a quarterback, and they would bear down on you

and, like, try to bury you in the ground and everything. They try to knock the crap out of you. Or now, if you come even close to the head or, you know, you half a second late on the hit, you know, it's a penalty. Your podcast, the SEC State of Mind podcast, how many times a week do you guys do that?

We do it once a week. week. We try to cover all things SEC, none biased. Like I said, we get on there, we talk about a lot of things. It was going on around around the league. It seemed like my landscaping people decided want to come by the window while I'm on the problem. I didn't know if that was me or you. I'll be honest,

because it happens at my house all the time too. I'm like, geez, you know, like, it's ringing my side and they decide to show up at this time. But, yeah, I would say, we do it once a week, and it's a great show. Taylor Davis does an outstanding job. And then, you know, we cover all things. It's really fun.
