Right, Eddie, blow whistle.
Looking at our parlay and Kevin and I missed.
Yeah.
Last night.
So me and Reid got it right.
That never happens.
Out of the four of us, it's crazy.
Yeah.
Wow.
We'll talk about it.
Well, that goes to show you that, hey, this is all just kind of luck.
It's not.
I mean, it's not.
What do you mean?
Hey, I will start by saying this, though.
I have been on a cooler.
And so I've hit six in a row.
I didn't bet the parlay.
I'll be honest with you guys.
Dang.
I do.
That's why.
That's messed up.
No, I tell you guys, I don't like the parlays.
I hate having to make them.
But if you don't have faith in our parlay, how are we supposed to put that out?
Mostly I'll bet them if I do all of them.
Oh, when we're all, I got you.
When we're all pitching in, I got it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that makes sense.
I fit six bets in a row.
I was so cold that I then was like, let's just see.
And then I did a heat check where I bet, uh, heat check.
During the game, I bet Ladd McConkey and Texas.
his wide receiver
Nico.
Nico Collins scored
touchdown both
as a parlayas
boom
hit them both
couldn't believe it
couldn't believe it
I bet
a thousand bucks
on
Ohio State
to cover
and I bet big
on the one we bet on
Notre Dame
man yeah
so we're the ones
easy go
kind of easy come
I'm not quite back yet
but I'm off the
I'm off just eating
green peas
yeah that's all I was doing
is eating green peas
for like three days
is a rough one.
We'll start with Kevin.
How about you?
Yeah.
Big deal.
Kevin is a massive Patriots fan.
That's right.
That's right.
Even bigger than him
getting engaged.
Yeah.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
For sure.
Bigger than that.
Mike Vrabel's head coach
to the Patriots.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, forget the twins that are coming.
Mike Vrable is our head coach, you guys.
Mike freaking Vrable.
Your thoughts.
I love it.
It was a very, very good way to start the day.
Like the one and only
with the Dan Hurley, I believe, at Yukon said you better get us now
because we're coming.
And the Patriots are coming back.
We got the quarterback.
We got the head coach.
That's the two pillars that you need
to restart this organization in the right direction,
and we're on our way.
Not if the Jets have something to say about it.
You guys are going down again.
Well, they don't have a coach yet.
Rex Ryan's going to be able to.
I love it.
I watched the news conference this morning,
and Brable, he fires me up, man.
I'm ready.
If they would have hired Brable from the tight.
Meaning when the Titans, they were just playing ho-hum.
If they would have hired him from the Titans, how would you have felt?
Like, right when Belichick left, Belichick were hiring very well from the Titans,
because my feeling is you wouldn't be as pumped.
I would have.
Because here's the thing, these coaches that sometimes lose a job and have a year off,
they kind of get rebuilt by the media at how it amazing.
And again, I'm not saying he wasn't amazing at what he does,
but it's almost like a rehab year.
Mike McCarthy, right?
He took a little time off.
A lot of, that happens with a lot of coaches.
I don't know that you would have loved it as much
if Vrable comes from the Titans
and goes right to the Patriots.
Maybe not as much, that's a good point.
It's always that saying too, you don't really know
what you're missing until it's gone.
So you're always like, oh, Belichex,
it's time for him to go.
Let's get something in the Mayo comes in.
You're like, oh my gosh, this is really bad.
And then you get something new
and you get a little like, you know,
rejoice and something new and Vrabel coming in.
But his teams, I mean, he had Henry,
he had Ryan Tanahill and they went like 12 and 5.
They had the one seat that one year too.
He didn't he draft Marcus Marriota?
Or was that before him?
That might have been before him.
Did he have Marietta?
And then his front office got rid of AJ Brown, Derek Henry eventually.
Well, then stand up be a man and keep him.
You're asking me.
As the coach.
My point isn't so much about Vrabel, but a lot of times when a coach gets fired and takes a year off,
there's kind of like this new polish that's put on them.
And it's like, ooh, I wonder what he's, because he has all these options.
Well, he didn't last year.
And is it, do you think Vrable is a good coach?
or is it that he's a patriot and he's back home?
No, I think he's a good coach.
I think Mayo had trouble leading like a team
and an organization and getting the right coaches.
And then Vrable comes in
and he's immediately going to have these guys respect
and the entire team and the organization is going to buy into what he's selling.
With Mayo, I mean, he was all over the place all year,
like throwing his players under the bus, his coach is under the bus
where Vrable will be whether it's good or right or right or wrong.
He'll say, this is my fault.
I'll get on track.
He does.
Experience being a head coach.
Mayo has not.
Yeah.
So, again, you're comparing Mayo's first year to Vrable's head coaching career.
But again, that's a reason why they're hiring him.
I think he's also a good coach because as much as I'm messing around about, would you have wanted him for the Titans?
Like, he did a lot with a little here.
Yeah.
Or we are.
It wasn't like they were loading them up with weapons.
And he said we need to get the past game going for the Patriots.
Well, then I'm in.
That's what he says.
We're coming, boys. We're coming.
Let's go.
Okay, let's do best news then.
Best news of the weekend.
And it can be in whatever form you want.
If it can be sports or life, is yours going to be variable?
Oh, yeah.
Eddie?
I mean, mine's breaking news.
I think the best news for us is the Dallas Cowboys got rid of Mike McCarthy.
And not necessarily.
I didn't see it.
I've been so, my head's been in work all morning.
We're finally coachless and now we're open for business.
They wouldn't let him interview with the bears and they fire them.
Apparently they couldn't get the contract right.
So it took time to get the length of the contract right?
That's dirty dog.
They wouldn't let him interview with the Bears and then they cut them.
Bears job still open, though, unless that's...
But is it dirty dog?
Because they let Ezekiel Elliott go to the Chargers and play a playoffs game.
That's not the same thing.
That levels it out a little bit.
Dude, I did not know.
Is there any other news to that?
That's it.
And he's no longer a cowboy.
So now we're open for business.
Did it just happen?
Yeah.
Yeah. Deon Sanders, we're here.
That's who you want, huh?
Maybe.
if you bring Chador
But you can't just bring Chador
It's not like he can just put him on the fly
And be like, I declare Shador a cowboy
And your other two sons, even the social media
guy, bring him too
Deion Jr?
Yeah, bring him too.
I mean, look, McCarthy
I think was a pretty good coach.
I honestly think that if the
Cowboys, if they can
just, if Jerry can just let a
head coach be a head coach.
But that's, you're saying if.
Dude, he's not done that in his entire lifetime
have been the owner. I know, but I think there are certain coaches, certain people, certain
personalities that could do that. And I think Dion could be a personality like that. They can be like,
hey, Jerry, come on. Let me do my thing. Does he sound like Hulk Hogan, dear?
I'm right. Brother. Come on, brother. Let me coach. Here we go. I'm just seeing it. So it's posted
from when we record this 48 minutes ago. With Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy,
eligible to talk to other teams after midnight Tuesday, still haven't been in negotiations on
New Deal, and then that gets updated 12 minutes later.
Mike McCarthy is not expected to return to the Dallas Cowboys.
It is now set to become a free agent.
The two sides engaged in no discussions about a new deal.
See, that's what sucks because that makes the Bears thing completely.
If they had no talks about a new deal and they kept them from interviewing with the Bears, that sucks.
It is dirty.
That's dirty dog.
I'll go back to it.
McCarthy is expected to be a candidate in Chicago and New Orleans.
So Chicago hasn't filled that job so he can still go.
There we go.
It's okay.
We're all good.
And that's dirty dog, dude.
So I don't know. That's good news for us.
I think just starting news is good news for us.
That's be great.
Okay, outside of Dion.
Like, say, a Ben Johnson or...
Because Deon wanted to go to the Raiders,
but now they're saying the Raiders don't have interest in Deion
because Tom Brady's running that.
So let's say it's not the Raiders.
Let's say it's not the Cowboys.
Like, who is it?
Because, again, Ben Johnson, but he's never been a head coach.
You don't think Jerry's going to push him around?
He doesn't only have the credibility to go to like,
No, this is how I plan to coach this team.
Sabin.
Sabin, come on.
Why would you want a college coach who failed in the NFL's first time and is also in his 70s?
We're all about second chances.
Dude, he's going to live 10 years.
How long is he going to be able to coach?
I don't know, man.
Pete Carroll?
While we're on the old name.
Pete Carroll.
He wants back in.
He wants back in.
Pete Carroll's pretty cool.
You really don't know.
No clue, dude.
No clue.
And even like if we try to guess, it's going to be someone that we didn't even know.
How about this?
Sorry
Oh
Is Sark?
Not a bad move
Three hours up the road
They didn't have to pay for a big relocation fee
Right, right
The moving fees
Not that bad
That's true
That could be good
If they can't
Boom breaking news
Steve Sarkisian is now
The head coach
Of the Dallas Cowboys
Your feeling would be
That'd be interesting
But I don't think
I don't think Jerry's gonna let her
Tell you
Your feeling would be
Same same thing
We're gonna be in the same position
Just another coach
Rotating through
That has been how it's been
for like the last 20 years.
Forever, dude.
Forever.
It's the same coach coming in and then them trying,
oh, they're going to be the savior.
And then two years later, like, get rid of them.
But then why do you think this will be different?
If Dion.
Someone, like Jimmy Johnson, who can come in and be like,
I'm the coach.
Let me be the coach.
Trust me.
Trust me, Jerry.
I got this.
But it hasn't happened in 20 plus years.
You're right.
But who we had?
Wade Phillips?
Like, who we had?
Jason Garrett does clapping.
Jason Garrett.
Good turnover.
Good turnover.
So you're saying, if it is.
that you'll be happy, but do you think it'll be someone
like that, is my question? I think it's going to
have to be someone like that. So Jerry
and the kids understand
the situation, they're going to allow someone like
that back in.
Good luck.
Thank you. Grasasas
Dios.
Casey?
I mean, I'm a jet fan, so it's been pretty bleak, man.
I don't know. No news. I mean, Rex
Ryan might be coming back. I don't really
want that. I mean, I feel like it's surely
not, right? I don't know. I mean, he seems pretty
convinced on the network that he's on. I've watched him say he hopes that he gets to coach
so he can beat Brable a couple times a year and say that stuff. That was the latest. But is there
really any chance? I don't know. I mean, I'm hoping that we could get that Aaron Glenn guy from
Detroit. I guess he's the best option I think that we realistically have as defense. Do you feel like
you need someone that like Eddie's saying because Woody Johnson? A culture guy, right? But someone
that can actually have a voice against the owner? Yeah. I mean, I was hoping that
was Rabel, but once we interviewed him, that's when Kraft fired
Mayo, so, you know, the Jets helping out the Patriots.
Best case scenario for you as coach?
Best case scenario?
He goes, Dion.
I mean, honestly, I think it's got to be Glenn or Ben Johnson, but I don't think one of the
lions guys.
Yeah, that would be my pick.
Reed, what's your best news from the weekend?
Oh, man, mine actually pertains to TV shows.
You actually shared it, and you shared that the second season of Severance is
coming out this week, and that is like one of the
Friday. Yeah, one of my favorite shows I've ever watched and I had no idea that there was even going to be a second season until I saw your story.
You didn't even know there were doing the second season. No, I had no idea. So you broke the news, bones? You broke the news?
Dang, I'm out on Shepter or Breeze. Come on. Mine is just stopping the freezer that I lived in for betting because I was...
I figured it would be the Texas loss. No? That wasn't the best thing? No, it's not. And here's why. I don't like Ohio State either. I'm glad Texas lost eventually. I think the best case scenario for me would have been,
They both
Torfair.
I think Ohio State's just going to run
Notre Dame. I don't think Texas would have run
Notre Dame. So if Texas would have
lucked out,
not even lucked out, they played pretty good.
You know, they were...
They had a chance. It was close for it.
Were they first in one, first and goal from the one?
Yeah, man. Yes.
Had Texas been able to win that game,
I think Notre Dame would have probably beat them.
I don't think
Notre Dame can beat Ohio State. I don't like Ohio State winning it.
Yeah.
So not the best. I'm happy they lost. Thank God they lost.
Mostly it's like a relief more than it is a happiness.
A little happy. No offense, Mike.
Yeah, that was bad. I told myself, like, as long as we were competitive, I wouldn't
going to be sad, but I was still sad. Like one yard away.
And you got to the same spot both years, right? Yeah. Isn't this it? One game away.
Final four?
What about the screen, Mike, at the end of the first half, 75 yards?
That's stupid.
Yeah. That is so frustrating.
Well, it was like the worst case.
You had money on it.
Defensive call.
Yeah, plus three and a half, Texas.
They used to mind the screen.
In the first half,
it was the worst ever defensive call.
Oh, you had a half-time bet.
And the perfect offensive call,
because they blitzed.
And they threw the screen.
One guy missed, and he was gone.
Gone.
So we can second guess that forever,
but it was the worst
meets the best.
Worst thing they could have done
at that point with them running the screen
was blitz those guys.
So that's a bad one.
You see they benched the kicker?
too?
Yeah.
Auburn doesn't kick anymore.
Dang.
That hurt, dude.
I'm bad for him.
After Stark was all like,
you're my favorite,
I love you.
You my lovey,
wubby,
you my lovey,
wovey,
then he moves on.
Oh,
and they kept showing
him on the sideline
with his curly hair.
Classic Cowboys coach,
you know what I mean?
It's a Texas thing,
dude.
Classic Cowboys guy.
Yeah, no,
mine is,
again,
I think I hit five in a row.
I didn't bet the late game
last night because I didn't think
I'd make it to the end.
Did you make it to do?
No,
and I saw the doyke this morning.
Well, it wasn't that late.
I was tired, dude.
Okay.
I was really tired.
What time did the game end?
Yeah, it was like 10.30.
Oh, yeah, that's late.
What are you talking late?
What are you talking about?
The nightly news.
I don't know.
It's the news.
Yeah, I went to bed too.
You miss the doink?
Yeah.
I just, yeah.
And also, I didn't even care about that game.
I didn't care.
I didn't care.
Playoff football.
You guys going to sleep early?
If I were going to rank the games I cared least about,
that was probably the one I cared least about.
But this was the best.
The closest game out of all of them.
Because again, yeah, they all sucked.
Yeah.
Pretty much.
But yeah, no, I didn't care that much.
So, and we can roll through that in a second.
But the first round of the NFL playoffs,
much like the first round of the college football playoffs.
Yeah.
It was wild cards.
Yeah.
But it was.
It was good because I made a little money.
We like that.
Yeah, we love that.
As we look at the parlay, we went two and two of four.
and if you even miss one, you get none.
That's a parley.
That works.
So that's it.
So we didn't hit that.
Everybody who bet that, I'm sorry.
I think we missed the first game.
Yep, we did.
Oh, the Steelers.
That was me.
But that was a late Saturday game, so we didn't feel like losers until late Saturday.
So all Saturday before it even hit, we're like, yeah, we haven't lost yet.
Because we didn't bet on the Texas game, the Texans.
You should do pick six, though.
Pick Six is awesome.
You can even do pick six in places where maybe you can't do it like Drive Kings.
But pick six, and you, you can't do it like Drive Kings.
But pick six, and you, and you,
You could do it with the game tonight.
You'd choose more or less if they have a stat, like, for example, Vikings at Rams.
Sam to Arnold, more or less than 265 passing.
Eddie?
More.
Justin Sling it.
Justin Jefferson, more or less than 89 yards receiving.
Way more.
Pug and Akua more or less than 91 receiving yards.
You want all mores?
I think you've got to go more.
And Matt Stafford, more or less than 241 passing.
Oof.
That's even less than Sam to Arnold's.
Let's go more.
You're going four more?
Four more.
Give me a little more.
Dang.

I want to play this for you guys.
Phrases from the 90s.
This was a video they put out,
but it was a VHS,
and it made like a news show.
And this guy's giving phrases from the 90s
so parents could know what their kids were saying.
Oh, wow.
This is crazy.
Dude, it's hilarious.
Here we go.
You want to be sure to sound hip in the 90s.
Yo, a greeting.
Oh, curb.
What's up?
Clutch the pearls, said in amazement or disbelief.
Well, you know he's married.
Clutch the pearls.
Oh, my.
In the 80s, it was just wasted.
I don't know how many I have.
But why did I get bucked?
I sure felt that one.
That was really the worst thing I'd ever.
Bucked.
Buck was that one.
Buck.
I hope you didn't drive home.
No way.
McGiver is in the TV show
where the impossible is often accomplished.
I can't believe you got off that speeding ticket.
What a McGiver.
Oh my God.
Secret.
That's funny.
I never use Clutch the Pearls.
When someone clutches their pearls, I don't use it in a thing.
I'm still going.
Definitely.
You've done your job.
You've really been novel.
Black and Decker.
Or a real tough aside.
You get the analogy, right?
This dog is a real grind.
It's just a black and decker.
Some phrases may be around forever.
Well, look, I got to run.
Peace. Bye time.
Peace. Peace.
Clutch the pearls. If someone's clutching their pearls now, it's like they're faking, like they're offended.
Oh.
And they're not.
Got it. You never say it.
I haven't ever heard that one.
What?
Clutch pearls?
Well, you don't even say it now.
It's just like, if you're like, all right, stop clutching your pearls.
That's like, stop acting like you're offended when really you're not.
Have you ever said that?
No.
The only ones of those I've ever said were Black and Decker?
McGiver.
McGiver.
I used to McGiver.
You did?
Yeah, yeah.
Wow, McGiver.
How'd you do that?
How'd you get here so quick?
I said that one time to my dad and he's like, you know that?
He's so proud.
Maybe like, yo.
Of course.
The greeting.
That was about it.
Eddie may have gotten a little too hard at basketball practice.
Are you coaching?
No, I'm not coaching, but I take my son to practice.
And then the two coaches usually get dads from the, you know, that are sitting on the side.
And we help just kind of like stand in or help us kind of with passing.
And we were doing charging.
The coach was teaching the kids how to take a charge.
And so they're like, Eddie, coach Eddie, why don't you get the ball and just like act like you're driving the lane and charge?
And so I did.
Oh, no.
Dude, I don't half-ass anything, man.
I got that ball.
And I went, drove the lane.
And the first kid, he didn't really do it right.
He started walking backwards.
so then he tripped backwards.
I fell on top of him.
I made two kids cry the whole practice.
It was terrible.
There's such videos when they do parents versus kids
and their kids are like six and they're in football.
Football, that's good stuff.
It's the moms.
Dude, that's hilarious.
That's kind of what I feel like that is.
Yeah, and some of the other dads are like,
okay, Coach Eddie, don't go so hard.
Let's light up on this one a little bit.
Up the breaks, bro.
But I feel like if I didn't go hard,
they would never learn how to do it.
You know what I mean?
That's not true.
They don't need an adult man to run into them.
No? Like, what's going to happen comes Saturday when a kid comes charging down the lane?
That's when they learn. That's when you learn.
Oh, not when I'm...
Through experience of...
Okay. Maybe I should have lightened up a little bit.
Your peers.
Gonna give them PTSD.
You didn't do that with your kids, though. You just hurt other kids.
I do it with my kids too.
No, no, but I'm saying it's the practice.
No, no. Well, my kid knows that I'd take a charge.
We've already practiced that on our own.
You'd make him cry at home.
Exactly. Get out of the way.
Just when no one else is around.
Read, you're not, you know, I'm assuming you didn't want.
and watch a lot of sports this weekend since you don't normally?
Negative.
What did you do?
Let's see.
This weekend, I cleaned my house.
And I actually recorded a pilot slash first episode of my podcast.
So that was fun.
Wait, I've been a guest on your podcast.
Yeah, you have.
You are a guest.
Oh, but that's the pilot?
No.
Dude, you made the pilot?
They'll never be aired.
Oh, my goodness.
That's what I'm hearing, Bones.
Dude, that's a tester, man.
It was a tester.
I don't know what I'm doing.
That's never going to be heard.
and you gave your time up for it.
Hey, that's a dirty dog.
That's dirty dog.
He called in, man.
He was a caller.
That's dirty dog.
Dang, dude.
One of our favorite regular guests on the show is Brandon Marcello from 24-7 sports.
Brandon is as dialed in as anyone when it comes to reporting and having insight.
And follow him at B. Marcello.
He has a new podcast out, and he talks about that at the end.
So let's talk college football with Brandon Marcello.
Brandon looks like he's going somewhere special today, maybe a job interview.
He's got a collar under a sweater.
What's the occasion?
Football Coaches Association
annual convention meetings.
There's like 9,000 coaches here.
Yeah.
Where are you?
It's in Charlotte.
It's the one,
I think this would set the Guinness World Records
for loudest daps.
Because it's just a large convention hall
and there's thousands of coaches
and everybody dapsed.
That's all they do.
No one shakes hands.
Everybody's dapping.
So it's very loud in there.
and it's just constant clapping.
Who's like the big dog?
Who's the star that everyone's like just looking to get a picture with or say hello to?
Great question.
I would probably say, you know, the problem is that the playoffs is still going on.
So like the coaches that are winning games, I would maybe say Kenny Dillingham at Arizona State because he's the young buck.
And he just went to the playoff and he's here.
a lot of coaches, the head coaches, they don't swing into like the last day,
but Kenny Dillingham is someone who's very popular at things like this.
Well, let's take a look at these past couple of games.
It almost feels like, you know, the song, now I can't even sing it.
Which one?
I don't know.
It's where it's like, now it's time to say goodbye.
Not M-I-C-Y-M-O-U-S-C, but like Sinatra song where he's like...
I did it my way?
Yeah, it's over.
It's like, I said goodbye.
Like the season's almost over.
We got one game left.
So we're getting to that point here.
We got Notre Dame, let's go there first.
Do you think the reason they're not hated as much right now?
Two reasons.
One, because they're playing Ohio State, and Ohio State's hated.
And two, because Marcus Freeman's like a really likable guy.
That, and I also think because Notre Dame was humbled earlier in the year by losing the Northern Illinois.
And I think all of us wrote them off.
And for so often, you know, Notre Dame's always been the quote-unquote overrated team,
which is actually, if you look through it, the numbers,
it's not actually statistically correct.
Because when they start in the top 10 in the preseason,
they usually finish there or near there,
so they're not really overrated.
But I think what happened is everybody goes in the preseason
hating Notre Dame because of that.
They think they're overrated.
And then in week two, they lose in Northern Illinois.
We're all like, ha, ha, ha, ha.
Told you.
Notre Dame sucks.
And then what do they do behind the background,
behind the scenes?
They just keep winning.
They bounce back from that.
they handle it their right way.
They're underdogs here in the
playoff in a lot of games, and they just
keep winning. Plus, as you said, Marcus
Freeman is a nice guy.
He's just a very
agreeable guy, someone that you just get
along with, and comes along pretty
well on screen.
And all of a sudden, Notre Dame's
become this just like underdog
story. They finally are
living up to like the Rudy
legacy, so to speak.
Do you think there is any chance now?
if Ohio State loses that Ryan Day won't come back next year?
Oh, great question.
Anything's possible.
I think the one thing that really sticks with me with Ryan Day
is just the stories that have come out about his family,
just really just not liking all the pressure of that job.
I mean, you've heard the stories of,
and I've seen them too at the game against Michigan,
them crying on the sideline,
just the pressure is immense there,
even when you win,
let alone when you lose.
And, you know, there's NFL opportunities out there.
You haven't heard Ryan Day's name really come up tied directly with anything.
But I'm sure that if he showed interest in an NFL job,
one that's open now or might be open later,
they would give him a snip.
I just don't know if he'd be, I don't know if he's trying to do that himself.
But I think that's the only way he leaves at this point
is that the right NFL job comes open and he shows some interest.
Well, then can I offer an extremely hot take question?
If he wins, could he leave?
Because he's like, this is miserable.
Maybe, yeah.
Why not?
Again, I think it again just seems to be the pressure is immense.
And I think, I mean, listen, he can stand up there and say, this is what I signed up to do.
And you know how we, you know, not to get too psychological on you, but you know, when you watch these press conferences, and I've been doing this for years, Bobby, it's just you start.
start to realize that coaches and people in everyday life, they're projecting.
You know, whenever someone says, it's criticizing you, it's usually a reflection of that
own person.
And so when I hear Ryan Day at practically every press conference saying, hey, this is what
I signed up for.
This is, this is why they pay me the big bus.
It just, it sounds like a guy that's trying to deal with this even internally himself.
Like, how do I handle this?
This is just, this is just terrible.
all the hate I get and the pressure I feel
and my family's under the gun all the time.
And as I said, his family is really affected by.
I've seen them crying on the sideline.
If you win a national championship,
it's not going to get any better than that.
It's impossible to get better than that.
So why not just let that be your legacy at Ohio State?
Why not just walk away?
So, yeah, Bobby, I could see that happening.
He wins a national championship.
I could see Ryan Day walking away
and going to the NFL at the right.
opportunity presents itself.
What would he, like, what is Ryan, Ryan Day, obviously he gave Chip Kelly the play calling
duties, but like where did he cut his teeth? Because again, mostly what I know of Ryan Day is the
Ohio State guy who is next up, who could never, who can't beat Michigan. Like what,
it's been so overwhelmed. His story has been that that I think most people don't know his
origin story. Well, I think that his origin story in a lot of ways is that he was just, he was an
incredible assistant coach, obviously someone that was kind of in line under Urban Meyer previously
to keep that going. You understood the culture. You understood how to build that thing out from what it
was, even under Urban Meyer, because as we know, Urban Meyer went there. Urban Meyer really changed
college football twice. And by that, I mean, he went to Florida and the SEC was strong, but he made
it much different. He made it a situation where the SEC, other schools had to start really.
raising their level. And I'm talking about like Alabama going on its run, of course, in the
2000s. That's because of Urban Meyer. He raised a level in the SEC. Then he goes to the Big Ten
and he raised the level there. I'm not so sure Michigan would have won a national title this
past year if it was not for Urban Meyer pushing Ohio State over the hump because they're always
there in the national conversation under Jim Trussell. And then Urban Meyer took it to a different level.
And so Ohio State wanted to keep that going.
So they just, they bumped up Ryan Day to keep that going because he understood how that got that all going.
And he's been more or less about as good as Jim Tressel, the guy before Urban Meyer.
And Jim Tressel's a Hall of Fame type coach.
Don't get me wrong.
But it's not someone who was contending and winning a national title every three years or so,
despite he had that run there in the early 2000s.
And that's, that's going to be the stigma on.
coach at Ohio State.
Like if you don't win a national title, like in your first like four years on the job,
you're just dog crap to a lot of people.
And that's, that's an issue.
And it's, we've seen it at Florida.
The guys who replaced Urban Meyer there, like, they get pushed out quickly.
And then so you not just go to Ohio State where they want to win national titles and they have
Hall of Fame type coaches, but you get Urban Meyer to inject like this absolute nitrous
oxide into the system of we got to win, got to win, winning national championship now.
And then Ryan Day steps in as the disciple and he's not doing it.
And also, he's losing to the rival Michigan every year.
You can imagine the pressure that goes with that.
And I think Ryan Day gets an unfair shake.
I think he's an incredible coach.
It's just that he gets a bad rap for that.
And every little movement of his is ridiculed.
And Bobby, I mean, you saw a few weeks ago at the game against Michigan.
And I followed him around, you know, filming him just to kind of get his reaction at the loss.
And, of course, that fight breaks out.
And Ryan Day kind of froze up and just stood there and watched it.
And you could read in the body language and all that stuff.
But the fans just absolutely jumped them for that.
Like, why are you not a man of action?
Why aren't you getting involved?
Why aren't you pulling your players back, telling them to go back to the locker and get away from that?
Instead, you're just standing there being completely impotent.
And again, every move of this guy is ridiculed.
And so it goes back to your previous question.
Even if he wins a national title, like what else can you do there?
If a job came open and it's going to be less pressure, why wouldn't you take it?
I remember he said, what happened?
You had to read his lips when that fight was happening.
He was like, what happened?
Yeah.
I felt like, again, he was even unfairly criticized.
He really was wondering what happened.
But I hear you.
And let's go to that game first, Ohio State and Texas.
how do you feel Texas played as far as what the expectation was of Texas when they played Ohio State?
I said going into that game that I would not be surprised that Texas takes an early lead.
Well, that obviously didn't happen.
Ohio State was about to jump on him.
And then Trayvion Henderson had that personal foul penalty where he shoved a guy in the face.
Ohio State's running back.
And it stopped Ohio State from going up big early and it allowed Texas to hang around.
Texas had the horses defensively to slow down Ohio State.
I think a lot of us knew that going into that game.
I just didn't expect that offensively somehow they would have a chance late to win the game or even tie it as we saw late.
But then the quine years that I've grown accustomed to seeing popped up again.
They're about to score late in the game to tie it and he gets strip-sacked.
And they scoop and score and return it for a touchdown and go up 28-14 and the game's
over. It's just that Quinn
Ewers always seems in these big moments to always
have a bad turnover
or some situation. And, you know,
I'm not sold on Quinn Eurs as a future NFL guy.
I know he's high on draft boards and everything.
But man, when the pressure
gets to him,
and by pressure, I mean, like
defensive linemen, he just doesn't
know how to act back there. And
his past success
rate is just incredibly bad.
And you can't have that.
I mean, we're seeing in the NFL playoffs now, rookies that have done very well are first or second year guys,
Jaden Daniels, Michael Pennix with the Washington commanders.
You know, Pennix is the guy that I saw last season at Washington, and Washington beat Texas in the college football playoff.
And it was because of Pennix has just been calm and collected.
And Texas had an incredible pass rush, but Pennix was the guy that got them over the hump.
And that translates.
it translates to the NFL.
He's now in the NFL winning, I think, the commanders first.
I mean, it's just incredible, like all this stuff that you see with Michael Pinnock's.
And then obviously, Jaden Daniels as well, you know, Jaden is a special player,
Heisman Trophy winner.
But you see these guys that were Uber successful in college football,
and it's translating to the NFL almost right away when they're given their chance.
when years, when he gets the NFL, I don't think you're going to see that.
I think you're going to see a guy that's going to maybe bounce around from team to team trying to find a spot as a backup.
I think C.J. Stroud is another example of that, although it's not a rookie this year. Last year, he had a great rookie year coming out.
So do you see any parallel? And I remember back in the day, Major Applewhite started quarterback of Texas.
And it was like, we got to get Chris Sims in. We got to get Chris Sims in. Big controversy. You got Uers. You got Arch Manning.
well all of a sudden when Chris Sims is in, they're like, dang, we kind of miss Apple White.
They're like, you know, maybe we jump the gun and we kind of miss Major Apple White a little bit.
Any parallel in your mind there at all?
Good question.
I don't think so because I do think Arch Manning is legit.
Like, I mean, there'll be people like rumbling like in this first, second start potentially next season.
If he throws the interception, I'm going to, oh, Quinn yours wouldn't have done that.
But I think more often than not, he's going to be able to make big plays.
because he's much different from Quinn Eurs
from the standpoint that he can run the ball.
We've seen that this year.
They brought him into special packages
just to run the ball and pick up first downs
on third down or even fourth down even.
And he's been very successful in doing that.
You know, and I don't think that having the Manning name
bothers him or is going to get into his own brain.
And I think he's going to live up to the hype.
And to be quite honest with you, man,
I mean, I know like people thought Quinn Yors was great.
and then they would ridicule them from time to time.
But man, I'll tell you what,
I think the Texas fans were very patient with Quinn Eurs.
I thought this season there were several times
where they could have really called for Arch Manning to go in there.
But maybe what calmed that down.
You know what?
It's incredible, actually, still did I think of it?
Because remember Quinn Ewers got injured
and Arch Maining had to go in and start, you know, a game or two.
And you would think after seeing that, they would be like,
no, just keep Quinn Eurs on the bench.
Let's keep going to Arch Manny.
But I think a lot of people just saw
We're winning, we're still winning.
This is Quinn Ewers' last year.
Let's just ride this out.
Let Archmanning continue to develop in the backup role
and coming on the field every now
again, give us a taste of it.
But I think it's probably the best thing for all parties at this point
because Arch Manning didn't get that pressure to be a starter right away.
He's had an opportunity to develop over these last couple of years.
And I think he's ready to go, man.
I think next season he's going to be a superstar for Texas.
So if it were three years ago,
or three years from now, I would think Quinn Ewer's best move would be going to the draft,
maybe getting a second or third round draft.
But because the money is so heavy right now in the portal, and it's not going to be like
this for long.
I would compare this to the time when the NFL decided, hey, rookies can't make $100 million.
And I think Sam Bradford is one of the last rookies to be able to get that top pick
and make money forever.
Now they got four plus one.
You get rookie scale contracts are only so much.
But right now, look at Miami, and they just took the Georgia quarterback, and they're paying him roughly $4 million.
If I were – you were – I would probably go and make more money one more year somewhere else, that $3, $4, $5 million, even if I could be a second or third round picking the draft.
And those rumors have been out there about him maybe getting into the transfer portal.
We haven't actually heard anything from his camp along those lines, but there's been discussions in the background, among other schools, about potentially.
trying to lure him. And I think there's definitely a point to be made there. Any quarterback or for
that matter, even receiver or something like that, a guy that you see that's not going to be a day one
pick or maybe it's a borderline day two to day three pick in the NFL draft, like why wouldn't
you come back for another year in college football? Because Bobby, you hit it right on the head.
Like the money, not to say it's going to dry up, but the money distribution model is going to
change after this upcoming season. You know, revenue sharing is starting in college sports in July,
But we've got kind of a stop gap between January and July where schools are able to just freely spend really whatever they want in NIL.
And to keep players on campus, they're saying, hey, they're going to get revenue distribution here in July.
But until then, here's a nice little million dollars, $2 million.
And for the high profile guys, like you mentioned, Carson Beck going to Miami, you know, it's $3, four, five, six dollars.
and listen, Carson, that's incredible money for Carson Beck, one,
because he probably wasn't going to be selected highly in the NFL drafts as far as J-1,
but also he just had surgery.
He just had surgery on his elbows, throwing elbow,
and he's going to be out at least until July or August,
not able to really throw or participate in practices.
So he's going to get paid by Miami all the way up until that point,
the revenue sharing model goes into the effects starting in July.
and so you get to go down there and get paid handsomely to recover and get your body right
and then maybe try, you know, not maybe, but he's going to try and play this season.
NFL, if you're trying to get all that done and you can't throw for the combine, any personal
workouts, pro days and all that, your draft stock's just going to continue to fall.
So this is a different type of situation to say Quinn years, but this just made absolute
perfect sense for Carson Beck.
But I could see a scenario where Quinn yours is sitting there, you know, and the deadline
is coming up obviously here,
but that he could
maybe do it, but that
chatter was really heating up going
into that playoff game about
a week ago, and it's kind of cool since
then, so it certainly looks like
at this point he's probably going to go to the NFL draft.
Well, we saw Cammore to get a third,
fourth, fifth round grade last year
and go to Miami, and now
he's going to be the number one or two overall
pick. So I also think that
there's an example of it actually working
while also making a lot of money, more
money than you're going to make in your first couple to few years in the NFL.
I have two final questions.
One, James Franklin, you know, he lost another one.
Can't, you know, I'll say what everybody says.
Can't win the big game.
What do you say?
Can't win the big game, yeah.
I mean, he's, he's what, one in 18 against the AP top five in his career, including
his days back at Vanderbilt, 11 or 1 in 16 there at Penn State.
And, you know, I know a lot of people go, well, listen, he won two playoff games.
and yeah, that's great, but they weren't necessarily,
they weren't top five type programs.
I mean, SMU, obviously, in the first round.
But it's almost, you know, people go,
well, that game wasn't his fault.
It wasn't coaching mistakes that led to their loss.
It was Drew Aller throwing interceptions,
throwing an interception late.
And my argument for that is that players play
the way their coaches coach and act on the sidelines and throughout game week.
and it just seems like Penn State
it's not just this year but every year
when it comes down to crunch time late in games
they find a way to lose
and losers find a way to lose
winners don't find ways to lose
and the common denominator
and all that has been James Franklin
on the sideline.
I think he's a great coach
I don't think he's an elite coach
elite coaches win top five games
one out of every three times
he doesn't do that at all
championship game does
Notre Dame have a puncher's chance
I think so the defense
has been incredible all season
I think a lot of people are
underplaying the idea
that Notre Dame can match up
well against Jeremiah Smith
the receiver freshman phenom
for Ohio State I think that they could
potentially slow down that passing game
and look just this past game
Texas their defense slowed down
Jeremiah Smith one catch
for three yards.
And Smith, as we saw,
exploded in that Rose Bowl
against Oregon just a week prior to that
and was great in the first round game
against Tennessee.
But Texas slowed him down.
The key for Notre Dame
is just to play well on the outside,
keep Jeremiah Smith and check,
and that defensive line
where they lost their top defensive tackle,
Riley Mills, led them in sacks,
seven and a half sacks.
They've been playing without him the last two games
and done very well.
they got to slow that run game down and kind of make Ohio State a little bit one-dimensional.
And by being one-dimensional, I think you make Ohio State one-dimensional by forcing them to run the ball.
And that's how you beat them, because that's how Michigan beat them.
I mean, Ohio State kept trying to run the ball against them, and they couldn't do it,
and then they refused to pass the ball for whatever reason.
But if you could slow the passing game and force Ohio State to run the ball,
I really like Notre Dame's chances.
I've been watching your podcast with your wife.
How did you get your wife to do a podcast with you?
It was really kind of her idea.
She's been talking about it for years.
She even came up with a name for it that I,
that's not safe for work.
It's safe for here, though.
So we had to,
okay,
she wanted to call it basic bitch predicts.
I love it.
That's what she wanted to call it.
But I was like,
we can't do that.
It's derogatory and all that.
It's bad enough that we're doing a podcast together
where it seems like I'm plucking down to her.
But the whole idea is that the idea of the show is she likes college football.
She just doesn't know the ins and outs of it.
And at home, we barely talk about football or my job.
And so this is an opportunity for her to learn more about what I do for a living.
But also kind of she gets to ask just bare bones questions about what's actually going on in the game.
And she gets to present ideas that I think every common fan fan thinks about,
but is afraid to say because they'll be labeled as dumb or not in the nose.
and she's just freely out there asking those questions.
And we've done a couple of episodes so far.
I think they're going to get a lot better.
We've talked about because we just kind of just sat down and said, let's do this.
And we've talked it over and we've got some good ideas.
And she's been holding back a little bit on the show.
And I can't wait until she fully unleashes herself.
Yeah, it's called Basic Aff, but Basic As Football, right?
I mean, that's what it is, right?
Yeah.
Yeah, much better than the first recommendation for my wife.
but I did laugh but she brought it up.
You guys, check out the podcast.
I watch it on YouTube.
Brandon Marcello, thank you so much for being with us
over the last 10, 12 weeks.
Big fan of your work.
You need a vacation, so after this game, I hope you get one.
I hope they celebrate you at the coaches conference.
And good to see you again, my friend.
And hopefully I'll see you soon in person up in Fayville.
Appreciate you, Bobby.
Yeah, the coach is going to carry me out off of the convention floor.
Very rudy-like.
All right, Brandon, see you, buddy.

I announced this week I signed a deal with the NFL.
It's called Lots to Say with Bobby Bones and Matt Castle.
This is us.
It's five minutes of us talking with Jared Allen.
When you play the game, though, the most exciting part for me was always to watch your youthful enthusiasm.
Like, you had fun when you played the game.
And that permeated throughout the entire team, right?
And when you did your sack and you did the bull or whatever the heck you do, right?
I mean, that's the type of stuff that, you know, not everybody has that.
They have this workman-like mentality and they're told to act a certain way or do it a certain in a certain method of, look, this is how you're supposed to act.
but just how you went out each and every day and we had fun.
Like, that's what made you a great teammate,
but that's also what made you such a lovable player in the NFL, man.
Yeah, I last year's short not to have fun.
You know, I've got to remind myself of that in retirement sometimes.
Now you're just parenting.
Yeah, I just say you know.
No, do your homework.
Oh, my gosh.
Real life issues.
No, I that, but I mean, I literally was fortunate.
I told my dad when I was eight years old, I was going to play professional football.
Most parents are like, all right, Johnny, like, go read the books.
My dad would drop me off.
My dad trained raining cutting horses, so I managed ranching.
So my dad, at the ranch we lived at the time, was about a mile or so from the gate up to our double-wide trailer because we were high class back then.
Yeah, baby.
And so, and I was, I mean, what was I?
10, some of the year, and I would run.
He would make me run every night up to the hill.
And his whole philosophy is like, you want to be in the pros?
You better eat, sleep, drink it, because somebody out there is doing more than you are.
So you better make sure you're doing the most you could ever do.
So most parents are like, yeah, okay, have fun.
You know, go to school.
My dad was like, you want to be in the boroughs?
Let's get it.
And he, it was hard-nosed on it.
And but that was all I ever wanted to do.
And so when I got to play professional football as a living and make a living doing it,
man, there's no great, even on days that suck, even training camp days when you want to,
you're just bitching and complaining because it's training camp, you look back and
you're like, you know, I'm getting paid money to play a game.
This is dope.
How many celebrations did you have that didn't work out?
Because we all know you for the tie, but did you ever do like, the giddy up?
Did you ever have like, like, you have something that didn't catch on?
Yeah, well, that was a thing.
My very first one, my very first one, I got fined $5,000.
So my tied in, my buddy, my roommate in college are tied in, never scored a touchdown.
Right.
So I told him, I was like, and he had this brilliant touchdown in celebration that he's going to have, right?
So we were going to, we were going to high five, you know, low five, and then bring it back around.
slap the thigh like bodybuilders and flex it out, right?
That was like, you never got a chance to do it in college.
My very first sack, I'm doing that.
Preseason, don't count, but who cares?
First preseason game I sack, Eli Manning.
Bam, I hit that leg, shake it out.
Bam, flex it.
$5,000 for sexually suggestive behavior.
Oh, my God, that's what they said it was?
The outside of your thigh?
Yeah, right here.
Were they thinking you were slapping your butt?
No, he's probably trying to.
No.
So they said, so they said,
They said, I got a fine.
Well, I didn't get a fine because I was a fourth round pick,
so there's other people with my number on the team, right?
There was an undrafted free agent lineman with the number 69.
They sent him a fine for $5,000 for $7,000 to be here.
He's like, what is this?
He called the league and got it sent to me.
And so in the preseason, if you get fined, you don't pay it until you get, make the team.
And I'm like, bro, you know you're not making the team.
Like, you know that.
We're just honest truth right now.
He didn't need to push that on to you.
He didn't need to put that on to me to still cost me five grand.
for that. And then I had
the vets, my first couple years,
they would just pick celebrations for me to do,
like, all right, this week you're doing the lawnmower.
Dallas, I had like two sacks against
Dallas one year and
jelly roll, the original jelly roll,
Lionel Dalton, he's like,
all right, this year, this
game, you're doing spirit fingers and high kicks.
I'm like, oh, geez, this sucks,
bro.
So, finally,
finally we caught on it. I got to give,
I was actually telling Dustin Colque with this.
Yesterday. Neil Smith, we went out to dinner. Neil Smith got put into the ring of honor and Hank
Jr. sang the national anthem that game. Okay. So I meet up with Neil and then we ended up going out
we went to dinner with Hank Jr. afterwards, which is a whole nother amazing. Yeah. I'm sure.
That was good. And so Neil's like, hey, man, I really appreciate you doing my celebration. He's like,
but you know, you got to come up with something of your own. So I grew up on a ranch. I grew up
calf roping. And so
that's how we came about it. It's talked to my buddy's like, yeah,
let's tie them up. So when you calf rope, you flank your calf,
you tie up three legs, threw your hands up, that's when they stopped
the clock. So we just started doing that on
our quarterbacks and it stuck and then
yeah. Here's the question for you guys.
I have to go on
Good Morning Football tomorrow.
Awesome. On NFL Network. Very cool.
Incredible. Great. Love it. What the
crap am I going to talk about? What do you mean?
Here's the thing. They're interviewing me.
And you know,
because that show, they have real ballplay.
or what are they going to be like what are we even going to talk after a pre-interview today
which means they have somebody call me and go okay so here's what I have no credibility
what are you talking about mainly your podcast yes so they want me to come on to promote lots to say
that this show I do with Matt Castle which is an NFL product right it's their show and so
they want me to come on to promote it what what do they want to talk to like what again I have
credibility. In that show, it's like, I'm just saying funny stuff or having crazy opinions.
I mean, I was getting dragged a little bit for telling Kurt Warner he was hot and take his helmet off.
I saw some comments. Yeah, but then they ended up playing that on other NFL shows because I thought it was the funniest thing ever.
Oh, no, for sure. I would do it again. I'm just saying, I'm not the typical person that you'd put on like a hardcore football show on a hardcore football network.
So I think what makes any different is I have a question. It's like, hey, man, you're really good looking.
and does it suck yet to wear a helmet.
Like, that's the kind of stuff I think about.
So maybe I pitch stories to them today for me to talk about.
What do I pitch them?
Top five best-looking quarterbacks, maybe?
I don't.
You go all that route.
That's going to be your brand then.
Oh, my God.
I don't think they're going to interview me, right?
So it's not like I'm a host coming up with segments.
Like when I hosted Rich Eisen, that's what I did.
I came up with segments.
That's much easier for me.
Because I come up with a thousand segments
that are sports related.
I'm pretty knowledgeable, pretty funny.
But like those guys, they're going to be like,
what the crap do we talk to him about?
Because it's not like I know more than them about anything in football.
So on a football show, what are they, what's the deal?
What if you take the angle of, like, you're just the fan?
Like, because you do geek out over these guests.
Every podcast is like, we've got the fan and the player.
That's like lame and that is.
It is.
That's every.
Okay.
Because that show, though, is more of like a pop culture show because it's a morning show.
Like a typical any news morning show, but it's a football-related morning show.
So you can almost take like a pop culture sense of it, whether it's country music or whatever.
I don't want to go on, talk about country music.
You've worked in top 40 before?
I don't talk about music in general.
Well, Titans got the number one pick, so they might ask you about that.
Okay, so I can tell them to ask me about that.
Okay, because I know enough about that.
I'd be like, I also think they'd change the color of their uniforms because they look slow.
That's good stuff.
There we go.
Their colors look slow.
There are slow colors, and we have them,
and we're never going to get to the next level unless we change our colors.
That would be the kind of bull-catch.
Who likes baby blue?
There are slow colors.
New stadium coming.
They got to get new uniforms with it.
So maybe something about that number one pick.
What should the Titans do?
But again...
Oh, you know what you're really funny at?
Whenever you talk about playing Madden,
because you're really good at Madden,
and then you try to pitch Madden stuff to, like, real people.
Maybe I should just
Maybe that's what I should do
That's a good point
Because I like talking about Maddenor college football
Yes
And dude I've learned a lot though
I'm telling you like
You know different shells
Defensively
And shells into formations
And you know
Good job dude
Yeah for sure
You're putting in the work
I'm putting in the work
I've put in a lot of film set in YouTube
Watching like other 12 year olds
Tell me how to be better on defense
Kevin we were working out
And he was like watching his phone
I'm like what are you doing
You're watching a game
Because it sounded like a game
he's like, yeah, I'm watching a game.
Like, who's playing right now?
It was like 3 o'clock on a Thursday.
He's like, oh, no, it's a Madden game.
One of our buddies is playing a Madden game.
Like on Twitch or something?
Yeah, I was on Twitch.
And it was NCAA football and we have a gamble league.
We have a gamble league.
Yeah.
So we gamble on the league and it was getting close to the college football playoff
and I was making sure, you know, I was watching him.
I was making sure everything was kosher.
That's gotten ahead of it a little bit.
So maybe that's it, but I don't know.
I think that's funny.
Like a humorous.
way to get into it because it's not like they're going to ask me or care about what I really think
when it comes to X's and O's with the NFL. That's not even what I do, right? But I'm doing that
tomorrow. It's live tomorrow. I'm going to do it from here. What time? I think I'm doing it
from here at like 1030 or something. Okay. Are they on the East Coast? West. Oh, the West Coast
Yeah, West Coast. We can go through the games real quick. Chargers and Texans.
I've said this forever, so I'm not saying this right now for the first time. I've said this
for every time we've spoke about this for three years,
Justin Herbert, meh.
Yeah.
I mean, you just waited.
You've waited a long time because you're like,
I feel like he's going to turn around.
It's going to get better, but it never really got better.
No, that's not what I say.
I feel like at some point, it has to, based on what everybody is saying.
There we go.
I've never seen it.
They anointed him.
Right.
And I've been saying forever, I don't see it.
But again, I just watched Madden, right?
You're a Madden player.
Yeah, a Madden player.
So, oh, I do four touches.
He's two four interceptions.
Yeah, the lights are just too bright for him in the biggest moments.
And it's, listen, he doesn't have a lot of weapons.
I get it.
I think McConkey's about it.
And he's like, he's 12.
He's so good.
He looks like one of my kids out there.
But he's so good.
That touchdown was unbelievable.
Oh, yeah, like the 80s.
Yeah.
Texans ran.
Yeah.
Especially at the end, second half.
I was making chili, and I,
I can just hear the TV like, another interception.
I block field goal for two points.
Like, gosh, guys.
Cameron Dicker got lit.
Yeah, he did.
Stainley played awesome.
Cornerback for the Texans.
Ravens and Steelers.
I'll confess this about this game.
I watched it, and I think it was 28-0 and I turned it off.
I think that was the score.
It was over.
And then I turned it back on.
It was 28-14.
They had the ball.
I was like, oh, God.
And then I was like, nah.
And it's over.
It's over.
I did the same thing.
Yeah.
I didn't even really jump back in.
We were watching a movie at that point, watching a rival.
Have you guys ever seen a rival?
No.
Amy Adams?
I don't like Amy Adams.
I know.
I don't know what it is.
Is that an alien one with like the inkblot pink things or something?
It's like that's their language.
It's how the aliens communicated.
Right.
Okay.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, I liked it.
I loved it.
Yeah.
I loved those type of movies.
Me too.
I thought was awesome.
The, uh, sex.
No, I go with science.
The science?
Oh, you say science.
Science movie?
Oh.
No.
Science is a good one, too, though.
I, yeah, I saw signs.
Emnight?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I think I saw signs.
It was good, though.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I like it.
You're just now watching it?
My wife will look for movies and she goes, hey, we should watch this movie
Arrival?
And I'm like, I don't know.
And she goes, well, it's got aliens in it.
I'm like, I'm going to watch it.
That's great that she likes those type of shows too.
She doesn't, but she tries to find one that she can stand because I hate movies in general.
It's too long for me to sit there.
And so we watched it.
She loved it too.
Yeah.
And Jeremy Runner, huh?
Why'd you hate Amy?
I have no idea.
I just see her on screen and I'm like, I don't like how she makes you feel.
She doesn't make me feel good.
She's like wholesome.
I don't know what it is.
She's awesome.
Is there a role that she plays where she's really mean or something?
Maybe I watched a movie where she was really mean.
Let's just look up Amy Adams movies, shall we?
Yeah.
Well, you think she's got a punchable face or something?
No, I don't know what it is.
It's like Joaquin Phoenix, too.
It's like, something about him like, he makes me nervous.
Amy Adams movies.
She has a movie called Disenchanted.
It's like a, I don't know, Disney's type movie.
Dear Evan Hansen, the woman in the window.
The woman in the window.
She's got to be mean in that one.
Have you seen it?
I don't know, maybe.
But you would know if you've seen it.
You can't just pick a title of a movie and be like, I bet she's mean in that one.
That's not true.
The other day somebody was telling me a movie, I'm like, oh, that's cool.
What's it about?
And they started telling me, I'm like, I've seen that movie.
I just forgot the title of it.
You've not seen the woman in the window.
Maybe, I don't know.
Justice League, Hillbilly Ellogy, Vice by Dick Cheney.
Oh, where, yeah, yeah, yeah, Dick Cheney was...
Arrival, Batman versus Superman, Big Eyes, American Hustle, Her, Lullaby.
American Hustle.
Wouldn't she like, uh...
When she's like a con, like the...
She was the wife of someone, right?
Yeah, of, um...
Was she punchable in it?
No.
No, I didn't say that.
Read did.
I didn't say that.
Man of Still.
Trouble with the curve.
Clint Eastwood, the baseball movie.
The fighter?
The fighter.
I don't know, man.
The Muppets. It's probably for the Muppets.
Oh, it's got to be the Muppets.
Dude, I think you have this thing where you probably
probably like,
secretly in love with her
and you can't have her
so you hate her.
That's true.
She's been in a lot of movies.
Golly.
Catch me if you can?
Uh-uh.
That's Tom Hanks, right?
DiCaprio.
That was awesome.
Yeah.
True story?
Ish.
Based on a true story.
Talladega Nights.
Ballad of Ricky Bobby.
Dude, I know what the movie is.
I don't know.
You can name all the movies.
I don't know what it is,
but when I see her,
I'm just like, I don't like her.
Or if somebody's like,
hey, let's watch this movie.
Amy Adams. I'm like, I don't want to watch it.
There's something new. Do you have an actor like that?
Yeah. I have, shoot, I can't think her name.
Is it a pretty woman?
Julia Roberts. Yeah, I have that about Julie Roberts. I don't know what it is either.
Boom, see? You can't explain it.
Yeah, I'm like, I see her on there. I'm like, no, I'm good. I don't need to watch that.
So has she done a movie you watched it was really bad? And then you think, I don't want to sit
another?
That's what I've always, I tried to pinpoint it to that. I'm like, what movie did she,
that I watched maybe when I was young? But I can't. I don't know.
Movie, Mike, what's wrong with these guys?
I don't know. Amy Adams is like always a nice person in most of her movies.
Yeah, wholesome.
And Julia Roberts is America's sweetheart.
Yeah.
I'm not, I don't know guys. I wish I knew.
Maybe it has a deeper meaning, you know.
Reed, do you have an actor like that?
I kind of feel that way about Amy Schumer.
Now, you can not like her comedy, though, or feel like her person.
But with Roberts and...
They're just actors.
Amy Adams, you don't only know about their personal lives that much.
With Amy Schumer, you can just hate her comedy.
Yeah, I don't know.
Because she's really not known as an actor.
She's done some acting, but I think mostly you just hate her comedy.
I guess so.
You guys hate anybody's comedy?
Where you're like, they're just not funny and everybody loves them.
I don't hate his comedy.
I just don't understand why everyone loves his comedy, and that's Nate Bergotson.
Oh, he's super funny.
And he's super clean.
He's very clean.
Yeah.
So you don't get why he's so popular right now?
Correct.
Like, I'll watch a special, and I'll watch for 30 minutes and maybe do a...
that's the most I would laugh
I turned his with the one on Netflix
I would watch 20 minutes
I'm like yeah I'm okay
why you think that is
it's just not for you
it's just not for me
and I'm not hating on his comedy
because I know what kind of comedy
I think I like
and that's just not it
you like lots of F words and
yeah
you do you like the
yeah I like the cussing
I think it's more relatable
for some reason to me
I like the cussing too
yeah I don't mind that
I don't know I think he's funny
I think he's funny
I think he's found a way to be funny
clean but like my wife loves him
and she'll sit together
watch the special
And she's like crying tears and I'm looking at her like, are you serious?
Like, well, this is why you don't think I'm funny sometimes.
You know who for me isn't that funny?
And I think it's just a culture thing or any of the Mexican comedians.
What the, oh.
Who, bro?
Gabriel and Glemyzzi.
What's you talking about, man?
And not all of them, but when they do, and it could be Gabriel Aglazi or Carlos Mitzis or they have really funny things.
But when they go into the Mexican culture stuff, sometimes I just miss it.
Oh, dude.
can't relate to it?
Yeah, I mean, I don't even know what they're saying sometimes.
Like when they're making, like, jokes and throwing in Spanish words, I'm just like, I don't know what's happening.
George Lopez does that all the time.
So, yeah, and I've, mostly George Lopez on TV.
But it could be, I guess it doesn't have to be the Mexican-ish comics.
It could be any culture I don't understand.
I watched a guy who was Asian, and he was doing a lot of Asian jokes.
And I didn't get, I didn't get them.
So I was like, man, I bet people are.
are loving this. I just don't get it. That's not my culture.
I see what you're saying because the Mexican
comedians, there's a lot of like, oh my
gosh, we do do that. That's funny.
And that's what we think is funny about it.
And I would bet that there are
Mexicans, Hispanics, Latinos that would watch
like, get it on. It would be like, what the
heck?
You know, like real redneck type stuff?
Because some of them are very culture specific and that's when
I get lost. I completely respect
because a lot of people think it's funny. There's something
to it that I'm not getting. But yeah,
a lot of those guys because they're so big, like the Gabriel Iglesias.
He's huge.
He's huge.
And some of the stuff is so funny.
But when it goes really Mexican, I have trouble because I don't know, I don't get the joke.
That makes sense.
Yeah, I don't get the joke.
But Nate Burgasci, like, he's a dad like me, you know, like I think what he's saying is funny.
Like the topics he's talking about is funny.
I just don't understand how he's selling out like a huge arena.
It feels like when he does stand up, it feels like I'm at a little dinner party and he's at the table telling a story.
And I'm like, that guy's funny.
He is your Gabriel Glacius.
You're a Mexican.
Yeah, yeah, could be.
You don't get the white guy's humor, man.
Could be.
That's what it is.
Okay, so I'm going to go with the, yeah, like the culture comedians that I don't get.
Sometimes Matt Rife's not that funny to me.
Yeah, he's a little extra sometimes.
But sometimes, yeah, sometimes he's not that funny to me.
But, again, my opinion doesn't matter because I'm only one person.
Who's really funny to you?
I've never seen, well, no, I was going to say a full stand-up, I don't know, but I mean, Theo Vaughn just in Clips version is hilarious.
Theo-Von, super funny.
His stand-up stuff's pretty good.
Okay.
Pretty good.
But him long form is way better.
Really?
Yeah.
I think.
Mike, what do you think about that?
Yeah, I would agree.
Small clips.
Yeah.
I don't really think he's known for his specials.
Like, I watched one on Netflix.
Yeah.
It's pretty good.
But again, I will watch Theo Vaughn crap.
When someone's like, someone asked him if he was racist and he goes, I don't.
I'll say that. He goes, sometimes I get so mad I'll write it down.
Like, that crap is so funny because he's just like thinking.
I think he's best in like the whole interview part too because he just coming up with stuff as
as it's flowing. And you can see it in his head working, work and working, and then he comes out
with something. So to me, like a stand-up for him where it's more thought out, I don't know
if it'd be as good. He was so funny. I told you we had like dinner with him. Yeah.
Like he came over and sat with us. That's bizarre. It was me and my wife and Brett Eldridge
and we're just at dinner. And he was sitting one over. I don't want to bother anybody, but he didn't
have food on his table and I wasn't like gonna
and so I was like
hey Theo and Bobby Bond's a big family
I think he's super funny and he just has a notebook
out and he's like writing out his notebook
hey man he goes oh
I said I watch a lot of your stuff online
he goes I'm big fan of your videos too
at this point I'm like really but I don't know
and I was like well thanks man don't bother you walk back to the table
go do you mind if I come over and hang out with you guys
I'd be like oh
and I was like all right come on
so he walks right over and sits down with me
Caitlin in a breath for like 15 minutes until his food shows up because he'd ordered it.
That's cool.
I don't remember the story he told it.
It was so freaking funny.
It was something about his buddies, one of his buddies took him like turkey hunting.
And they had, this is not a joke.
It's a story and I'm going to tell it poorly.
But I remember being so funny.
This is what he thought.
His buddy took him turkey hunting because he's from Louisiana and, you know, grew up around all that.
By the way, his dad had him when he was like 70.
Yeah.
His dad was born in like 1910 or something.
What the?
Oh, and he's from another country too, right?
He's from Louisiana.
Yes, French.
No, no, no, but he's sometimes.
Oh, his dad.
He always talks about how he's like Chilean or something.
His dad.
His dad is, yes.
He's like, for real, bro, I'm Nicaraguan, dude.
I thought you met really, O'Bahn.
Yes.
So he sits down, he's talking about his buddy taking him turkey hunting.
And he goes, man, we go out all day,
we don't see any turkeys, have a little lunch, go back, go back out again,
three more hours, I don't see any turkeys.
It was because we're talking about Arkansas.
And that's where he went turkey hunting.
So this is how I know.
this wasn't like a bit. He goes, oh well, we went
over to Camden. We were turkey on.
He goes, spent the first four hours of the day
and seen turkeys. We went to eight, went back
out, didn't see any turkeys. He said,
finished up, got back in the truck, put all our stuff away.
We're driving out. We see some turkeys. A buddy's
like, pull truck over. Let's shoot these turkeys. He's like, no,
the game's over. Like, he's like, the horn sounded. You don't
finish a basketball game and be like,
I feel like I can take him now, coach, let's go get him.
He goes, no, time expired.
We were done. And I remember laughing so hard.
That is really funny. And I was like, this dude is like
funny. Like, I don't know
if, hanging
out with him for that brief period of time, I don't think it's
an act or a gimmick.
Like, I don't think it's a put on. It seems genuine.
Yeah. Yeah. And
it was just, like, odd, but very funny.
And then he was like, oh, my food's over there.
I'm gonna go eat now. And I'm gonna like,
I was like, all right, buddy. See you later.
That's hilarious. I met him at a concert one time.
Really? Yeah, I just took a quick picture with him. That was it.
But it was super cool. Before he was famous?
No, this is three years ago.
Oh, so. So, yeah.
So I had a Morgan Wall in concert.
Let's see, Broncos, Bills.
Oh, back to sports.
Bill's,
hey, it gives the game for a second.
Bill's dominated.
This game for like the first two minutes.
Yeah, three, four minutes.
Eagles Packers.
You know what?
Eagles didn't even look that good.
Now, AJ Brown was reading a book.
Apparently that book is now like an Amazon bestseller,
the one that he pulled out.
Yeah, it was called like.
He was reading a book on the sideline?
It was called like giving it your best or winning or something.
motivational thing.
You do that on purpose
with the cameras?
There's no way
he has like one catch for 10 yards
so it was like his way
of passive aggressively
you know
causing a scene
that makes sense
and the commanders beat the box
20 to 20 on the kick
there's a game tonight
Rams
like we talked about the Brandon
you got the National Championship
but who cares
I think we're good
I hope Notre Dame wins
but they're probably not going to
that'd be cool
that was a good game
Penn State Notre Dame
it was worth
it was good
It feels like a lifetime ago
It does
With all the games since then
It was
A lifetime
And shout out to my wife
Because there was a lot of football
The last three or four days
Oh really?
See I felt like this was a treat
For my wife
Because there was more
I guess there were more important games
That we had to watch
But there were less games
And a little break maybe
Like
Right
I feel like all the games
Are so important
I needed to watch all of them
Yeah
Because they were all so important
So it was like
Gotta watch the CFP
game. Got to watch this one the next night. And we're
all snowed in too, so there's nothing else
to do except hang out. And so
But there was a break, I think, on Friday.
No, there wasn't. No, Friday night.
There were no breaks. Also, Arkansas play basketball.
You're right. I had to watch that game. I pulled a
ray and I watched the NFL game
on my laptop while, because my
fiance's mom is in town
while they watch TV. It was great. No sound.
So shout out to my wife for that.
That's it. I think that's it. We'll be back
later on this week.
Shout out to all the comedians we loved.
And for the record, I like Mexicans.
It's just when I don't understand the comedy.
Not all Mexican comedy.
Just parts when it's in Spanish or it has to do with Mexican culture, I don't get.
So you know what?
Say what you will.
I got you.
Thank you.
Don't clip that.
All right.
All right, that's it.
Thank you.
Eddie Love the West song.
All right.
We'll see you guys later on this week.
