I'm glad you can hear it. I got a couple things. One, I went to the Cubs game last night. A lot of fun. Weather got good. We were worried

because remember, went to the Cardinals and it rained us out. Oh, yeah. Terrible. It started I think it was us. Yeah. Kevin, we started thinking it was us. Yeah. You guys bring the rain. Bringing in the rain everywhere we go. Instead of we brought to loss. Oh no. That's worse. It's all right. Not really. Because they won two or three from the Braves. Okay. They're They're not going to win the division anyway. They're five bat. Well, they were five back going last night. The Brewers are a different animal.

They were going to make the playoffs. So it was a fun game. Ate, two hot dogs. There were some famous people there. Tom Morello. From Rage Against the Machine. Wow. Guitar player.

That's right, Kevin. Come on. Come on. Eddie, is that your first time at Wrigley? No, it's my second time. But it's my first time with those seats. They had a picture. Actually, I saw it.

Yeah. That's nice. We were probably like seven rows back from home plate. That's legit. Yeah. You see everything. And the coolest thing that I liked from the angle we were at was just to see the curvature of the ball when it gets hit. Just to kind of see like, oh, man, that's going, let no, it's not.

It's curving right. And then you see the outfielder track it. Oh, yeah, we can see up against the pole, like the line on the pole. Isn't that crazy? The outfielder is like how they get that tail and you're just like, how do you read that? It was fun. Way to good time. That's awesome.

We spent all day in Chicago yesterday. I went to promote a bit of the other podcast that I do with Matt Castle. because this one doesn't need it this one's a baller did you throw our podcast in there just like this one yeah I didn't I went up with intention of that one to promote that one remember we don't need it

right right right right this one's a baller but you know you know what bobby said Kevin he because he went into we saw I saw two of your interviews out of the three and the one that they weren't broadcasting in the room you watched the Cubs one too so you saw three of the four okay yeah three of the four but the one that we did not watch

he comes out, he's like, oh man, you guys didn't watch that? I threw you guys a shoutout. Really? I did. I swear to God. I'm like, did the one that I didn't see you threw a shout out out. So I get there and that's, you know, Barstow is a mostly male audience. Yeah.

So it's a different audience that can be exposed to me and to hopefully some of them will go and sample lots to say. Like that's the goal. Yep. And so go up and I do mostly sports with Brandon Walker and Mark Titus, who I'm a big fan of. And so they do their show. It's a YouTube show they do every day and it's a podcast. And they do their show live. every day same time. And so I hop into that show. And I walked in and they had already started

a few minutes earlier. So I was a little discombobulated because I had never met them in person. I'd only been on one of their shows through this studio when I did it virtual. So I walked in and I was like, oh, and they were already going. So I just sat down on the couch and I liked it because I just kind of jumped in, just kind of fell in and they asked me some stuff. But I did plug the podcast that Matt and I did. And we just did an hour talking about all kinds of stuff. stuff. It didn't say anything about Eddie. Nah. He didn't really come up. Yeah. And George Burge was with us. He's a friend of ours.

But George now has two number ones. And they had something come up about New Country Music. I'd have given George's shout out. Didn't come up. I knew they were watching on the television out in the main lobby. There's like a room they have. That's like a chill-out room. Okay. But I didn't really feel the need to like shout them out. No big deal. Like forced them. The other one they watched was called the yak.

And it's like an hour, 45 minute YouTube show podcast. And it's like everybody that's up there all sitting around. and I did the gauntlet and you go in the gym and you do all these Oh yeah I've seen clips and videos of that Like shooting I crushed it did you He crushed it Kevin

Crushed it I'm not here To gas myself up Because there are many times I don't crush stuff But it starts off with a bean bag Cornhole Cornhole okay

And you can't touch a bag And you have to grab And start throwing one at a time I grab one bag across the gym nailed it first Right in the hole Right in the hole Nothing but hole. And I was like, oh, God. So then I go, I suck kicking, but of the first three balls, one of our balls went in.

Field goal? No, sorry, soccer. Okay. Sorry. Hey, classic American. Football. I didn't see it go in, but they're watching the line, and apparently the ball went behind the goalie's hand over the line. I kept kicking.

No, no, it went. So I went. The next thing is that wiffle ball, and you have to throw it to yourself, hit a home run over this out of the gym. The timing's weird because you're throwing it to yourself and trying. Dude, I ripped it. Home run, first swing. Gone. Dang.

The next one is a quarterback throw with a hole and you got to throw the ball first throw, through the hole. Dang. And I'm like, I'm on fire. I lose my shoe on the gym in the basket. So my shoe comes off. And I'm one-shoed and I hit my fourth three-point or the four. They have a rack, so I shoot one.

Almost made the first one. One of them, third was an air ball. I was like, calm down. Drill the fourth one. Go across, drill it. It did the whole thing in like 36 seconds. So I was really feeling great about that. Yeah.

I did the whole interview with them. Never said anything about Eddie. Sorry, buddy. It's okay. They didn't ask about it. Didn't expect it, really. Did the Cubs one, and they were in the room, and it's the channel in Chicago that has the Cubs, the Bears. It's called the Markey Network.

It's a television network. It didn't really bring up out of your Georgia. There was no reason. It didn't come up. It came up on this other podcast that I did called Macrodosing, which they do a lot of culture stuff. They talk about sports a little bit. And I go in, and one of the guys that host it is very popular. His name is, well, not a general name, but.

PFT Yeah Is what he goes by him Very popular Yeah And so he was like He was in Austin For like eight years

He used to listen to your show All the time And he was like It's crazy that You have all these people You've always worked with And I was like yeah Like

Didn't give us any money So I just brought in my friends And I was like my friend out here today Eddie's like my best friend But he's also been on my show now For 12 years Because I just surround myself With people that put me in a better place

And so I gave Eddie a shout out And then we're talking about music And I was like you know there's a lot of music. Like in Nashville, you just naturally are embedded in it if you're in the industry. I was like,

my friend George out here, George Burge is a two number one songs, but he's like part of our group. Like, it's just a... And so I gave him both a shout-out and I came out. I didn't know they weren't on TV. I didn't know it wasn't...

That was the one that we weren't able to watch. I didn't know it wasn't on. You didn't even have an option? No, because they were watching a different show. The other guys were watching, like, a different bedding show or something. Yeah, we were there with, like, other interns in the room.

Yeah, so... Yeah. What's young guys? I didn't know they couldn't see it But I didn't say it because they were there But I did give him a shout out I was like I shouted you guys out They were like shut up

We watched you for three hours You never said anything about us Yeah coincidentally The one that we couldn't see He shouted us out Nah we appreciate that though dude Thank you man You didn't have to do that

Thank you I didn't Do you feel the pressure at all Like when you're on the other three Like I know you said Shout them out no Yeah okay Just making sure like I don't know

There's no pressure I know there isn't But I'm just saying This is not 1999 party line you call in and say hi to your friend on the radio. I know, but I can see Eddie, like, sitting in the back looking at you. No, no. Why'd I?

Like, yeah, Bobby, say my name. Say my name. Honestly, if you would have never said anything, I wouldn't even thought, like, did you give me a shout out? No. But he came out of, like, straight out of the studio. He was like, man, did you guys see that? I just gave you a shout out. Like, you know that we can't see.

I did know they couldn't see. That's funny. I didn't know. So, yeah, it was a good. It was an awesome day. Yeah, I kind of felt bad for them because they had to sit there for like four hours. I did all these interviews. Dude, barstool, that place is like, it's like sports heaven.

It's all dudes. It's all dudes. They got a full gym. Yeah, a workout gym. Simulator. Oh, that's cool. A golf simulator. Dude, you name it.

The way I told my wife is like, if our boys had their own business and you're like, you get to decorate it however you want, do whatever you want, that's how it would be. That would be it right there. And it's just a bunch of dudes. I'm sure they're doing jobs, but just sitting around. Dang. Like on laptops. Who knows?

Again, I'm sure they're working on the things. And then there's all these rooms. They go and do podcasts and stuff. Is that their main hub or is it in New York? Do you know? So their main hub was only in New York. They opened this one out. I think they're moving out of New York to Chicago.

I don't know. But that's now the one. That's where they shoot the TV show from. They just started on Fox. Oh, okay. So it was great. And I was super happy that they had me come on all the shows, got some press for the podcast that we do.

Love it. Went to the game. We went to the Sky Deck, which is the top of the, it used to be the Sears Tower, the tallest building in America. Oh, yeah. I don't think it is anymore. But we went up on top of that.

And so you just go up to the top and look out a window. What do you think that ticket cost? Oh, no. No, no, no. You're on vacation. Yeah, no, no, no. Okay, you're just going up the top and just seeing the scenic views, right? That's what we're doing?

There's no, there's nothing to do up there. No, you just look out. Just look out. I'll say $45. That's expensive. It is. They remember my story, not that good. I mean, in Chicago, it's a...

Yeah, it's $60. Yeah. $65 bucks a ticket. That's crazy, man. And I was like, we should go up to this. So I was like, I'll pay for everybody's. Because I, the one that made them come there, I don't want to pay for $65 for something they didn't really want to do.

So we all went up. So I paid like, $250 for us to go out and look out a window. And then I was like, yeah, this is pretty high. It's cool. But we were in an airplane earlier. That was higher. He did say that. That's a good point.

And it had windows. That is a good point. And so I also, we got on this part, the glass like goes out over the city. And you stand on it. And the bottom's out. And they take a picture of you. There's a camera up. And so me, Eddie, George, and Morgan got in the picture.

And then I bought the pictures, like $40 for the four pictures. I bought four of them. $300. Yeah, it was. It was. I bought the four pictures for us. And Morgan's like, I'll carry the pictures. She left them in the car last night.

Oh, no. Morgan. Yeah, no pictures. Dude, I'm sure those pictures were awesome. They were awesome. You can see the whole city underneath your feet. Yeah, that is cool. Was it scary at all?

That part was, because it's just glass, dude. You're standing on glass. Bobby was like, that's not scary. I hate heights, but I knew we weren't. Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of heights. You knew we weren't going to fall. I knew we weren't going to fall. I knew we're going to die, yeah.

I will say, though, man, like, the way you like to see, sightsee, I love it. Like, I wish that that's how my family would sightsee. Would you describe how I like to sight see? Absolutely. Buy the ticket, go look at it. Cool, are you guys ready? And then we leave. And it's like, dude, we saw it.

We saw everything we needed to see. We did a little, hmm, oh, look at that. Took pictures. And then we leave. And then he wants to. Like, you want to go see the bean? Yeah, it's about nine blocks away. I've seen the bean in pictures.

Let's go check it out. We get to the bean. You want to take a picture? Cool. Gosh, that thing's huge. All right, you guys ready to go? That's amazing. And we did.

We should all be like that. I agree. It's like, okay, you see it. Now what? You just stay in here and keep looking at it. Like, my family would be like, let's buy popsicles and let's just sit by the bean for a little bit. Like, what are we doing? Get out of here.

Yeah, I didn't think about it. That's kind of how I live my life. Yeah. Okay, God, everything I can possibly get out of it, and I don't want to feel any more miserable being here. So let's just go ahead and kick rocks and get out. So, yeah, we had a good 12-hour trip to Chicago. Yeah, that's cool.

I like Chicago a lot. Me too, when it's not cold. I've never been there when it's freezing. Don't, don't go. Okay. Quick recap. And it's me and five other guys, five other teams, six people, and you each draft six teams. And every time your team wins, you make money.

Every time your team loses, you lose money. But it gets hard around, rounds three, four, and five to get teams that are good because they're all just gone. And the first year I did, I lost like $2,000. Second year, lost like a few hundred bucks. Third year or last year, I made like $4,000. That's awesome. Yeah. And I don't think I figured it out, but I had a strategy going in because I played it a couple times.

And so on this show, I was like, you guys want to get in? but there's no limit to what you can lose. But there's also no limit to what you can gain. We had Matt Stell on, who's our friend, and he was like, yeah, somebody lost like $10,000, one like, whatever it was. So you guys decided to come in at 25 and 25%. Yep.

And I'm 50%. So I text everybody, I'm like, hey, the draft is at 8 o'clock of these teams, and you guys be on text, and I'll try to update you as we're going. But it moves fast. And so Kevin's like, I'm putting the babies down.

and I got to shoot some influencer videos. Oh, no. Some drink station. Priorities. And Eddie's like, cool. Well, I knew Kevin was with the kids. I sent Eddie the Zoom link. Just hop on the Zoom that I'm on when we do the draft. So Eddie gets on the Zoom. So he's able to text without me even texting him.

Like, he's listening in. And at first, you bid on who gets to pick their draft slot. So I've done this few times now. I know you can get a pretty good draft spot for pretty cheap early. So I'm like, $200. I want to pick my spot. And they're like, great. So I pick the third.

spot because it's snake draft. Okay. So if I'd pick first, you get a Buffalo or Baltimore or whatever, and then you have to wait to pick freaking 12. Right. So I pay 200 bucks and I get spot three because I feel like there are three teams in that A tier. We paid 200, right? No, I paid 100, you pay 50-50. You don't have to pay. It happens at the end. They either put it on your bill or take it off your bill. Okay. So what are these things that three teams are on the A tier? The A tier would be Buffalo. In my mind, there could be more. Okay. Buffalo, Baltimore, Baltimore, Baltimore, In Philadelphia?

Kansas City. I was going to say Kansas City. I've been to the Super Bowl three years on row. I'm not trying to be a hater, but... Oh, yeah, you hate Kansas City. I forgot because they threaten the Patriots. It was between Philly and Kansas City, if that helps. Okay.

So in Philly, you could put in the A tier for sure. Yeah. I didn't. Because, you know, my friend's a Cowboys fan, and I respect that. I appreciate that. Yeah, yeah. And I was watching, too. So I get the third pick, and I'm like, boom.

So first pick, Buffalo, figured. Second pick, Baltimore. Figured. I'm like, I'm sitting here. I'm going to take Kansas City. Okay. So I take Kansas City. Feeling good about that.

Had Kansas City last year made me a lot of money. So 4-5-6 happens. Then it goes 6-5-4-3 back to me. And I'm ready to take the Packers. Which, by the way, I was looking at the odds, Super Bowl odds for this year. Buffalo and Baltimore at Plus 600. They're the leaders. Philadelphia, then the Chiefs, then the Packers.

Then the Lions. Then the commanders. Then the 49ers. Oh, my. Well, so I was like, I think the Packers, but the Bengals are all, I was telling Eddie beforehand. Somebody's probably going to take the Packers. But if they don't, we should take the Packers. If they take the Packers, we'll take the Bengals.

And he's like, Bengals. I like, in my mind, I'm going, man, I would take the Packers, but I like Cincinnati too. And I just sent the text. No, no, no. You were fighting for the best. I sent the text. I was like, I like Cincinnati. And then it came to Bobby.

Packers were there You should have heard his voice He was like Yeah let's go Yeah We'll go bengals Oh no I didn't want to not give you guys a voice

I know Would you have gone Packers Yeah Yeah just based on preseason odds And expectations Absolutely Anything I mean I love Joe Burrow Their offense is awesome

But anything you know about the Bengals Are the first four weeks They're probably going to lose three games They didn't make playoffs last year. They did make the playoffs last year. They played great at the end. They went nine and eight, I think. Yeah, they almost squeaked in. They don't have a defense. I think the Bengals are going to be pretty good this year. I do. And also in their division, I, who knows what's Gavin with Pittsburgh? The Browns suck. Yeah, man. But the Ravens are really good.

Mm-hmm. And so, that's all the division, right? Yeah. Yeah. So I, and I'd look back, and I said to him, hey, Packers, if they're not there, we'll take the Bengals. What do you think? And I just wanted to to say that. I agree. Look, if I being honest, I just wanted him to go like, I agree. Yeah. But he didn't, and I respect that. I respect because you guys are putting money in for sure. Yeah.

So I said, okay, Bengals, and I'll be rooting hard for the Bengals, and I hope I'm wrong. I hope I'm right. Gosh, I hope I'm right, because I'll never hear the end of it. You won't. I will not. You won't. I hope. They both could win, though, too.

It doesn't have to be one or the other. But that's that situation on that. So it goes over to the Bengals and wraps back around, and I believe in round three, I took the bucks. Yeah, at that point there was no like Eddie, what do you think? It was just like, I got this. I got this. Hey, man. Hey, get off the call.

Get a drink, whatever you want, dude. At round three, I took the Bucks. I feel like they play in a weak division. Love that one. I feel like they can, yeah, I just like the Bucks. Yeah, I do too. And then great offensive line, especially when they come back fully healthy. Yep.

And then round four, there aren't a lot of teams left after round three. You're talking about 18 teams gone. Now, they're picking teams to lose as well, because you pick a team to lose, and if they lose. But the problem with picking teams to lose is once the playoffs start, you can't make any more money. Except for maximum one time. If one of your good team makes it and then loses

and you pick them to lose, but you probably didn't pick a good team to it's a whole thing. You don't really... So I took the Patriots in your honor. Now, you didn't tell me to do that. So I'm not going to blame you. But I won't... To lose, Kevin. No. I didn't go. No. I'm just not saying with them. So our four... And then I tried the old trick again, but it doesn't matter because they're off the board. I have Miami Dauphins to lose, Miami Dauphins to win.

So they're dead. Yeah, they cancel each other out. Right, yes. So we have four teams. We need them all to win. We really need three of the four to win every week. I was wondering if you picked the Patriots, like, if I had any influence on that. Oh, yeah, for sure.

But not so much that I irrationally just jumped into the Patriots. There were no teams left. It was around that time. And I thought, okay, there's like four teams, I think are about the same. And I was like, I think Kevin won't like it. Since they're all the same in my mind, if I went with the Patriots. Love it. It makes us root for them, too.

I love it. And you have a Patriot hat on today. Perfect. Thank you. So those are our four teams. Okay. I feel pretty good. I've never rooted for those four teams ever in my life.

The Cowboys were only picked once and to lose. Yes. It's the first year that's ever happened. Really? Somebody always picks them to win. They were never picked to win. They were only picked to lose. They're playing tonight.

How do you feel? I feel great. I feel so good. I'm just so glad the season's starting. This is an exciting feeling, dude. Eagles, eight and a half point favorites. Not worried about it. I don't think we're going to

It does. It does keep going up. Oh, really? I'm going to bet if it's still 8.5 Right now, I'm going to bet heavy on the Cowboys. I think it started at 7. And then it went 7 and 1 half. Yeah, I saw 7 and a couple days ago. And now it's 8.

It'll be 9. By the time the game starts. I mean, that's a lot in the NFL. I'm telling you this too. I am on such a heater. Did you hear my baseball story earlier? No, no, no, tell him. Tell him the baseball story.

We were doing the show, the podcast on the show. I need to bet this cowboy real quick. Oh, that boy. I did. It's still plus eight and a half. All right. I'm going to bet. I mean,

I do, it's going to be closer than that. You got to, you got to think, right? I don't think we'll win the game. Oh, God, if he's thinking that,

I don't want to bet it anymore. I don't think we'll win the game, but it's got to be closer than eight points. That's so much in the NFL. It is. Okay, I'm going to put $250 on Cowboys plus $8. Let's go.

coming out of college at Iowa but I wasn't like but everyone was like there's no chance she's going to do this. And it was just like nonstop dragging. And then she started the season and wasn't hot because they came right off, right at a college of the WMBA. People were killing her. And I was like, I'm in.

I couldn't root harder for Caitlin Clark. And so I became a big Caitlin Clark fan. I'm rooting for Arch. I hope Arch throws for 500 yards and Texas loses. I'll get you a jersey, man. No, I don't want a jersey. So that game I'm interested in. I'm interested in Oklahoma State at Oregon.

Now Oregon's a 28 and a half point favorite. But in one of the pressers, they go to Dan Landing and they're like, you know, oh, Gundy, He said you got spent $40 million on your roster. And then Dan Lannning just slides into it and goes, you know, we do invest a lot in winning here at Oregon. And I feel like the teams that don't invest a lot in winning because you can invest a lot in winning or you can not invest a lot and have an excuse for losing. And I was like, oh, he took him out to the woodshed in a very nice way. And so they're playing each other.

I can't wait for it. That's awesome. And Oregon's probably going to serve it up. Yep. And I like Oklahoma State. And I like Gundy, but I thought that I liked that. That was awesome. Gundy crying about money.

Like, Oregon doesn't have anything unfair. If you're crying about something unfair, I get it. They're Nike, but yeah. That's not unfair. Anyone can have a Nike. T-boom Pickens, dead. But billionaire, built their stadium, had all the nice facility. Like, everything at different times.

Who is that guy? What did he do? Oil man. Oil man. Of course. Oil, man. You still have Lannin's number? Yeah.

I got two other games college-wise. Arizona State at Mississippi State. This is interesting to me because Will Arizona State and Dillingham, they're a top 15 team. They had a great end of the year last year. They lost the Texas in the playoff, obviously. They're playing an SEC school in an SEC stadium that is a top 15 team. They're a top 15 team. They had a great end of the year last year. They lost the Texas in the playoffs. They lost the Texas Stadium that is,

not supposedly good, but they are on the slight rebuild, and I like them now because I watch any given Saturday. I like the coach. I like Levy. I think both of those teams are going to see who they are. Yeah, I'm excited for that one too. Like Mississippi State, they played Southern Miss. It was pretty close for a while. Yeah. That game is interesting to me for a lot of reasons. It's a Big 12 school. It's an SEC school. It's a team on the come-up, Arizona State, like on a national level, a prominent level with a coach who's now like the darling because he's like the youngest. I think he's nine. Yeah, something like that. He's been on the show too. Yeah.

I forgot about that. I had him on last year during the playoff. That's right. That to me is fun. But the big game is Michigan at Oklahoma. Two top 20 teams, two legendary teams. You got a five-star quarterback and Bryce Underwood at Michigan who played pretty well last week. They played New Mexico. I'm going from memory here. Look good. 18 years old. Just turned 18. Five-star kid. And they're going to Oklahoma. and Oklahoma has a possible Heisman contender a quarterback, you know, the offensive coordinator and the quarterback, both came down from Washington State. So Oklahoma is almost a touchdown favorite because they are playing in Oklahoma.

But that game is interesting to me because it's going to allow a lot of things to settle. How good is Bryce Underwood when he's not supposed to be as that good. And he's supposed to be good, but he's 18. Yeah, he doesn't have the hype that arch, nobody does. Nobody does. To that standard, though, I'm saying, because he is still like you said. Michigan. And they had a down year last year.

Oklahoma also had a down year. Yeah, bad down. Yeah. So both those teams are going to show something. I always root for the SEC team in situations like this. And then because it's my family's team, I root for them, obviously. But that should be a good game. Obviously, Arkansas, Arkansas State, nobody cares about that by us.

We shouldn't even think, we don't even think we should play it. We've never played them in the history of football. It's the first time ever. And we're playing them at crappy Memorial Stadium in Little Rock. I respect the stadium, been to a bunch of games. They're rushed to the field. But it's like we shouldn't play games off campus. but it's actually closer for Arkansas

than it is for Arkansas and it's an Arkansas home game. There's really nothing you can get positive from it. Because if they even play close, they're like, hey, look at us, we're close to the big school. It's stupid.

So I hope we win and move on. Thinking about going to the Ole Miss game next week at Ole Miss. Okay. Who are they playing? Ole Miss. Oh, sorry, Arkansas. Arkansas.

And he talks all about the quarterback position from way old school people to people of today.

Great writer. At Seth Wickersham. Here he is, Seth Wickersham. All right, Seth Wickersham is on with us. And we were just talking about the book, Seth. by the way, again, it's American Kings, a biography of a quarterback, which you can pre-order, but it's not even like a pre-order because it comes out so soon that it's almost the same time. If you order it now, you'll get it basically when the book comes out, right?

Absolutely. Great to see you, man. Good to be here. Yeah, congratulations on the book. I think this is great. It's super timely. Let's talk about Arch Manning for a second. And, you know, you write about how ruthless the recruitment was. How did they settle on Texas? So my goal with the book, you know, what I wanted to do was show what it's like to do this very, uniquely American job, very unique American responsibilities of like every level, from current high school to college pro, retired Hall of Famer. And Arch was interesting to me because, you know, it was a window into this entire iconic quarterback family. And so I was able to kind of like,

where I was hoping to try to tell the entire main story through Arch and specifically through Arch's recruitment. And it got so competitive. I think that like even being there, it was interesting to just to see, especially in the NIL era, how hot it got for art. You know, I think that it came down to Alabama, Georgia, and Texas. The reasons why he picked Texas were, I think they were pretty wise. I mean, in no particular order, number one, Steve Sarkeesian, he's the play caller and the head coach. So he's not going anywhere. He's not going to be one of these guys who gets poached to be a head coach somewhere else. Number two, he really liked that Texas might, you know, was going to be a team on the upswing. And here's a chance to win a national championship there. It kind

help elevate it. He liked it. It was a school that had a ton of talent. And I think after being at Isidore Newman, which is obviously a pretty small school in New Orleans, he wanted to be on a team that had, you know, other five-star players. And then finally, and this is the one that I personally find the most interesting, is that, you know, Austin's a big enough city. You don't even call it a college town. It's a city that he thought he could be pretty anonymous there. And that to me is the most interesting aspect of it all, because here you have Arch Manning. and, you know, member of, like, you know, football royalty. And, you know, part of the reason why he picked Texas was because he thought, and we'll see how well that works out, that, you know, he could be anonymous there. And I think that, like, even some of the reporting in my book, you know, shows that, like, that itself was, was too difficult to ask for. How influential were Archie, Cooper, Peyton, Eli, all in Arch's recruitment and actually helping him achieve his destination of Texas?

He did it himself. And I think that they're all really hyper aware of looking like they had a hidden hand. And Nelson Stewart, you know, so Arch's sophomore year, obviously they realized he was going to be a top prospect. So Nelson Stewart, the head coach at Newman and Cooper Manning get together. And they try to think about like how they want this recruitment to look like. And this is looking like staring at a tsunami from a distance. Like there's no stopping this thing. And so Cooper said, I want this to be a 1975 recruitment. And coach Stewart was like, What do you mean? And Cooper was like, I want you to run point. I want you to be the gatekeeper. And we're not going to take offers. We're not going to be posting on social media every time a school offers to us, how grateful we are. We're going to do things a little bit different to try to give Arch a semblance of a normal

high school life and, you know, maintain his love of the game. And I think that's really important. And so it was arch driving things. And obviously, like, the family members, you know, could weigh in when they wanted. but, you know, they went to University of Virginia where Arch's older sister May goes. And as they were walking around campus, Cooper was like, look, you know, this isn't a bad choice. You know, it's a beautiful campus, great school. You know, it's not football crazy.

And I think like maybe your life could be more normal here. And, you know, obviously Virginia wasn't a school that he, you know, ended up considering at the end of the day. It was him that was driving this and he's the one who decided on Texas. Really, just like Peyton did with Tennessee and even Eli did. you know, back in the day with Ole Miss. You're right about Joe Namath. Before both of our time, obviously, Joe Namath, I think about 1969, him guaranteeing him wearing the fur coats, him being like in New York.

But it was an odd juxtaposition because he played at Alabama. Like all of that, we didn't get to experience it, but we're only catching it like through story, like folklore even. And so what did you think of Joe Namath cultural impact once you started to really get into it at a deeper level? Well, I mean, look, all quarterback. are cultural archetypes of John Unitas and Joe Namath. I mean, those two guys are huge pillars.

And as I show in the book, there are other guys who helped set them up, especially Bob Waterfield in the 1940s. He was married to Jane Russell. They were like the first couple's first power couple. But really, Namath is, you know, a watershed moment in so many ways. And it was interesting because I've been with Joe Namath at events in New York, and I've been with him at one event at the University of Alabama at the stadium.

And just my personal opinion, I thought that he was way more revered, way more sought after, almost looked like with a type of reverence that was different when he was at Alabama rather than the events in New York. I think that like Alabama has such a, you know, a vast, you know, history throughout college football. and obviously Namath has so much cultural template that he started once he was with the Jets and kind of blossomed into, you know, this guy who first offered the idea of quarterback is like a lifestyle. But at Alabama, you know, he said that, Bear Bryant said that he was the finest player he ever coached. And I think that like, you know, when you listen to Joe Ameth talked about his career,

I think in a lot of ways you hear him talking about more joy when he was at Alabama than even during his heyday in New York. I remember when the story first broke when you were talking about the book, when it first was, hey, this is going to be a book that exists and the Caleb Williams pre-draft doubts came out. That had to feel a bit like a tsunami a little bit, and people were, you know, they all had opinions on your opinion and also what you saw, right? So what's been the fallout and the follow up from that story where, you know,

maybe Caleb didn't want to go to Chicago? Well, they looked at both Caleb and Carl Williams looked at it really intensely. And I think that one of the things that we forget, you know, quarterback has become so big in our, in our culture and so celebrated and mythologize that we think that they can do everything on their own. And in fact, like outside circumstances, context, those types of things have a huge impact on how successful quarterbacks are at the end of the day. And so when you're looking at a team on Chicago who's going to draft you and they have such a poor record of drafting quarterbacks, of developing them, of coaching. offensive football for Christ's sake, I think that it is very reasonable for the guy who's going to be the first pick in the draft to say, like, is there anything I can do? Are there any other options out there? Especially because he visited with Kevin O'Connell, head coach of the Vikings, reigning coach of the

year at the combine, and they really hit it off. And so I think that like what he was thinking of was like, is there a way to get myself to Chicago, to Minnesota, to work for Coach O'Connell? There really wasn't. And at the end of the day, the choices that he was faced with was either go to the bears or do what John and Jack Elway did or Archie and Eli Manning did and really create a situation that was completely untenable. And he wasn't willing to go there. As he told me, you know, I didn't want to nuke the city. And I think that like, you know, taking a step back here, I mean, Carl had huge fears about Chicago. He told me, you know, Chicago's where quarterbacks go to die. And he really wanted his son. He was willing to be a lead blocker for his son if he wanted to nuke the city. But,

you know, as Caleb told me later, he wasn't really willing to do that. And it took a year, but they got what they wanted. And that's, they have an innovative offensive mind whose success is tied to Caleb Williams is. And, you know, I think that Caleb played well as a rookie, a rookie year is largely about survival. And I think that, like, if I'm a Chicago fan, I've got to be pretty, pretty bullish right now on, you know, what's going to happen there because I think that he's going to do really, really well. So you think their mind has shifted because Ben Johnson is now the coach? Yes. So, I mean, look, the first year played out almost exactly to Carl's fears. And I mean, you know, I'm not hating on the bears here. The record is what the record is. I mean, you know,

they fired their offensive court in or the head coach didn't even last the season. It was almost exactly what Carl feared most would happen to his son. But I think they've got it right. And I think that like, you know, again, some people are kind of down on Caleb after his first year. I mean, I wasn't like that. I saw him make, he was incredibly tough for one thing. He took a lot of hits and he always got back up. And, you know, I think he made some pretty phenomenal throws in known passing situations, laid in games when they were down. Those are the hardest situations in the NFL. And so I think that like there's a lot to work on going forward. I do think that it'll take some time. Like these things are never as automatic as we want them to be. But I do think that

having a coach like Ben Johnson who really changed Jared Gop's career, I think is going to be a great thing for Caleb Williams. What did you learn about Patrick Mahomes as in more of the nuance of Patrick Mahomes that we don't get to see? I mean, Patrick's fascinating, right? Because he's, you know, he's so, he, he has come onto this scene so quickly and, you know, established a dynasty so quickly, even in a way that Brady didn't. I mean, you know, Brady wasn't throwing 50 touchdown passes his first couple of years in the NFL that, you know, that, But, you know, he's somebody I had to look at it, not just because he's become, like, such a cultural phenomenon with everyone kind of copying his haircut, but because I wanted to know how he managed fame, because, I mean, you know, fame in 2025 is much different than fame in 2000, and it's much different than fame in 1970. And, you know, he leaned into his religion a lot

more than I think people realize. And I think that like the challenge for quarterbacking has become so big that I think that like you have to almost, how you deal with fame and the pressure of playing the position, I think is a makeup that's almost as important as your ability to throw the ball, to be honest with you. That's how big it's got. And in order to keep your performance ahead of your notoriety, you have to have something that grounds you.

And that from the Holmes is religion. Like I think that it catches people a little bit by surprise that like someone's so gifted, you know, roots so much of his, how do I put it? It's like his awareness in religion. And, you know, sometimes people roll their eyes when they talk about religion in sports. You know, when it came to people like him and Kirk cousins, I wanted to take them at face value and at their word and actually learn about how religion helps them navigate. again, what's a really tricky space. I feel like I added a bit what you just said there is, you know, what's the cost of being a quarterback and what are you going to sacrifice in order to get these great things?

What are some of the costs that maybe we don't see, but they are really having to sacrifice in order to get to this level? I think that like we sort of like look at the beautiful throw in the pressure situation and wonder how they do that. And I think that like for them, that's the easy part. It's everything else that comes with it. that's difficult and how they manage that stuff, I think, ends up being a huge thing. Look, it is really, really hard.

And I think that you have to study. You have to, there's so much pressure on you that I think that, like, these guys have to create an ecosystem where they're kind of at the center of it. And they're almost detached and separate and isolated from reality in a lot of ways. As crazy as that sounds, in that way, it's very similar to, like, a politician or a pop star, whatever that might be. they have to be at the center of an ecosystem that, you know, protects them. And insecure, the greater quarterbacks get, I found, the more they volley between driving insecurity and almost like unreal confidence. And I think that like, it's one of the things that's like even doing that, even making that leap

to saying, well, I'm willing to be at the center of this ecosystem and have everything revolve around me. is difficult. Like, you know, I spent a lot of time with Andrew Luck over the years. And that, as much as the injuries, if not more, I think is what drove him out of football. Because I don't think he liked who he was as a quarterback. I don't think he liked it being, you know, Andrew's world 24-7. I think that when he was injured and he wasn't playing football and he had a chance to really examine himself, he was like, I don't like who this person is.

And I think that, like, he tried to do it where he was a quarterback. and trying to be a different type of person, and that worked for a little bit, but it really wasn't sustainable. And at the end of the day, he kind of picked himself more than the job. And so those are the things that I think are just fascinating that fans don't see. I mean, quarterback is not a job that you play. It's something that you are. When you wrote this book, obviously you consumed yourself with quarterbacks have passed,

present, and even we'll call Arch Manning quarterback of the future. What's like the through line with all of these guys that are super successful? I think it's the, it's the same thing that allows the lead singer to step on a stage in front of all these people with a microphone in front of him. You know, I think that you just have to have, you know, call it, you know, ego, confidence, ruthlessness, whatever it is to step on the stage and have everyone watch you and know that even though you won't admit it, I think that like there's a part of these great quarterbacks that think that they know more really than anyone else. And they might be kind of superior in some ways. And that includes, you know, teammates that they really like and adore and even the head coach. I think that, like, they have to figure out a way to, again, navigate this pressure. I mean, when I, it's not a history of the quarterback, but I do have historical aspects of it.

And when I went back to 1906 when the forward pass was legalized in college football, I was thinking it was going to be like a slow build to do the quarterback kind of having its lofty cultural status. And instead, it went fast. I mean, we as Americans almost seem to notice that the spiral, you know, a forward pass was something very unique and mystical and magical and worth mythologizing. And, you know, even like 1921 quarterback named Bo McMillan at Teeny Center College in Kentucky, they go up to Cambridge, Massachusetts, and they beat Harvard. New York Times called it the biggest college football upset of the first half of the 20th century. and he returns to Kentucky and they threw him a parade

and the governor was there and the governor is saying remember this time politicians are about as high in cultural job as you can possibly have the governor is saying I would do anything

to trade places with this guy right now and sure enough soon his wedding announcement is in the New York Times and he's in Hollywood with starlets and his life really took off and again that was relatively early and so I think that from the

moment those types of things happened, things just changed for quarterback. When I was, when I was doing the book, I sat down with Steve Young and we started listing all of the hats that a quarterback has to wear, from matinee idol to field general to astonishing asshole at times, to amateur psychologist, all these things. And we stopped at like 17. And frankly, like, I think we could have kept going. And so it's just a different job than anything else that really we offer in American sports and I think global sports too. The book is called American Kings, a biography of the quarterback out September 9th. You can get it on Amazon. One question that's not super book related, I'm going to ask about Bill Belichick, because I know you spent a lot of time covering Bill. What do you think his office is like in Chapel

Hill this week? Oh my God. I mean, look, when Bill Belichick loses a game, that pain and that misery takes on an atmospheric type of, you know, presence. And, you know, when he's in staff meetings, I mean, these things can go for hours. And he'll mumble at the lowest of his voice so that, like, every coach has to lean in and hear him and listen to him talking about all of the things that they did wrong and all of the things that they have to do better. And so, look, I think that, like, today, tomorrow, Thursday are not going to be very good days in Chapel Hill. But the thing that's interesting about Bill, for as miserable as he can be, and as hard as he can push his assistant coaches, I mean, he's kind of fundamentally an

optimist. And by Friday, he will change his tone and change his tune. And I think that, like, he'll be working really hard to put his team not only in a position to win, but to give them confidence. And I think that, like, it's one of the aspects of him that I think is really underappreciated. And it comes from a place that's not like Vince Lombardi or Newt Brockney. You know, it's a brainier type of thing where he says, look, if you do these things, this will put you in a decent position to make a play that could change this game.

I mean, I thought that he was going to come in and call off football, you know, coach, like he was on a warpath and slap around Davos Winnie's offense and all these things. And I think that, like, look, there's a big talent gap and there's a learning curve. even for, you know, the greatest coach of the Super Bowl era. Seth, really appreciate the time. No way. Yeah. It was last minute. You know, a buddy of mine, he's been doing it for like two years. And I think one of their guys got sick. I wallie pipped him. I said, dude, I'm available. I can jump in.

And I did it on Friday night. And, dude, I was pretty good at it. The only time I screwed up one time. Which one do you do? Yeah. Well, both. Because which way are you going on the field? Well, there's a marker holder.

Yeah. I consider that part of the chain gang. The marker holder is Doug. That dude's been there for 40 years. Oh, you don't want to take Doug's fight? No, no, no. Doug's been doing this for like 40 years. Got it.

So, yeah, I don't do Doug's job. I do either end of it. Am I the first down or am I where the ball starts? So how'd you screw up? So when it was first and goal, I put the marker on the goal line and the guy's like throw it on the ground.

Oh, you don't need to because the goal line is the marker. Right. I didn't think about it. I just thought like, hey, maybe they need a reference, guys. The goal's right here. Yeah, that ain't so bad. Rookie move, but that's not like bad. Yeah, I was thinking like you got it like chained up all like caught up, you know what I mean?

And you had to break it up and pause the game. That's a little nerve wracking because it's along the sideline. So when you're right in front of the visitor team, they could trip on the chain. A couple times they stepped on it and I got to be like, boys, watch the chain. Wait, do you do the thing where if they're coming over, you just drop everything and move away? That's what they told me to do.

Don't risk it. The first time, dude, there was a run that came straight to me, and I used the stick to guard it. I don't think that's the way it's supposed to do it. It's not. Because it could hurt a player. Yeah, and the stick bent. So now we may need to get a new stick. So in your first game, you put the stick on the goal line.

Not that bad. Shouldn't do that, though. But you bent the stick. I bent the stick. Because the player hit it? Yeah. So, like, the players came to me and they were, and I, I just kind of stuck it out like a shield.

Like, like, you were blocking yourself from the player by using the metal rod. Yeah, and they land on the bottom of the stick, which then I let go of it. But by that time, they'd already step on the stick and it's a little war. But they didn't teach you just if it's coming over, drop it. They did. But, dude, I mean, it's so fast. You can't really think that quick. Do you ever get distracted and like you just start thinking about the things?

And I'll say, like, oh, God. Because I think I would be doing that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, dude, you got to stay in it. I think the best part about it is that you are. in the visitor's sidelines. So you're hearing everything. Is there a way the chain gang could cheat in high school?

Absolutely. How? I mean, once you start realizing what green tomato, once you realize what green tomato means, and when they call it, you could easily text. Because, I mean,

I have my phone out, checking scores. You're checking scores? Absolutely. That's why the player ran into the stick. Sure. Yeah. Dude, I mean, it's a, it's a high school game. They're boring times and you're just like,

they're never, it's like, it's like, third and 20. They're never going to get a first down and here they come. And I'm like, oh, crap. You ever know watching Chit on TikTok? Yeah. Yeah, but dude, I think. You have AirPods in. Ed's got AirPods in over on the side watching TikToks? I could

easily text the other team and be like, yeah, dude, they're throwing green tomato every third down. What was green tomato? I don't remember. That's an example. But like, well, you start figuring out the trends. He's the Connor Stallions of the high school. He wears a different hat each time. Dude, but it was cool, man. Like, I'm, I'm

kind of excited about this. Did you get like a little power trip. A little bit. Did you wear the uniform? No, see, that's where I screwed up. And I don't know if I missed the, if I missed it in the text, but I wore like a white flower shirt and like they were all, the chain gang wore black. And I'm like, did you know you were going to do it going into the game? Yeah, they text me two hours for the game. And you still wore a flowered shirt. I didn't even think about it. I thought, you know what I thought. I thought they were going to give me one of those orange fluorescent bibs and they never did. So there was with a flowered polo shirt. Oh, man. And this is high school.

High school, man. Big time. It was just cool. Like, you know, there was, so we were on the visitor side. And some guy comes up to me. He's like,

hey, man, so I do the chain gang for our high school. Like, you guys are doing a great job. Thank you, man. Dang, respect my chain gang. Change gang. Do they have the digital ones at all? Yeah, that's what Doug carries.

Doug carries the down. Okay. And he just follows the ref. Like, wherever the ref says the ball is, Doug goes to the ref All he does is hit the button And he goes one, two, three, four Instead of flipping it over

Instead of doing the flip And he's gonna do as a game changer Did you ever have to go on and do it And measure? No, I never went out on the field to measure Uh-uh The whole game, they never call for a measurement You need to bring an index card

So you can put it in between the football Dude, what's crazy is like when the quarters When the quarter shift happens Like how do you like I was just kind of confused Like how do they know Because you got to flip to the other side of the field but they've got to keep that same mark.

And the ref just does this thing where he counts the links, puts his finger on it, follow me, and he goes all the way to the side, kind of does a little measurement, and says put it right there. Well, you should mark it on the, like 35-yard line, right? Yeah, like it marks it on there. So then it's the 35 on the other side.

It's a little bit of math, though, because he's got to kind of move it exactly where it was. Like within one yard. Like there are different places you can put it inside of one yard. Yeah. I guess he's finding that. specific spy. Yeah.

We can learn so much from you. Dude, the ref was on it. If you guys have any questions about doing the chain gang or any kind of first down rules, like, let me know. I don't think you know them yet. Number one rule, drop the pole. Yeah, I would think as soon as someone's coming, drop it.

Yes. They told me that. Because the one that's not getting hit holds it, which holds it into its place. It keeps its integrity. Yeah. If both of them drop, what you don't need both of them to drop because they're 10 yards apart. If both of them dropped, you have a chance to lose the integrity of where the ball is, right?

Yeah. But both don't have the drop. The time I stuck it out, I was the first down, so I felt like that runner needed to know where to get to. You know what I mean? I feel like it would have been an injustice to drop the stick a little premature before he knows where that yard marker is.

Are they doing pylons and first downs as well? No, just me, man. Dang, all that pressure. Just me. The weight of the world is on you. Are you worried about getting hurt at all? Nah. I'd be worried about somebody rolling up on me.

They did tell me that... When you have a force-filled, a big metal pole in front of you? You didn't get hit by anything. It's not that hard though, dude. It's like weak aluminum. I would think so. I hope so.

I thought it was like a big rod, dude. I'm like, uh-uh, with a big pat on it. But it's not. It's like a little weak flag. It's just a aluminum stick. How could you cheat, though, not passing along information? Could you manipulate?

Like, let's say your team needs another half foot. If you worked on the same page with the person who is running where the ball started, you could have them like back up three inches and you could slowly move yours three inches. Yeah. Yeah. I thought they would check the tightness of the chain a little more.

They didn't. And there were some times where I'd look over and like, do that chain is loose. I'm probably giving these guys half a yard right now. Dang. Yeah. So I could cheat like that. I can give them a half a yard. Do you get paid?

No. I did ask, but no, no pay. No payment. It's all volunteer work. Well, they get what they get then. Yeah. I do get free concessions, though. Oh, now we're talking.

Gatorade and hot dog. Unlimited Frito pies. Half time. I got, it was free to get in. Well, that's good. Which, they didn't believe me because I had that flower shirt on. I was like, did I promise I'm working chain game? How early did you have to show up? He was there at noon? Painting the lines on the field.

He's running. He's doing runs with the poles. Like Kevin said, you got to make sure that chain's not tied up. Yeah. But you only do every other game, right? Just home games. Yeah. Because the home game. supplies the chain game.

So basically every other game. So how many is that total? Five or something. So are you bound to do it now? Like what if something happens on a Friday? I said, look, put me on the list. I'm like, if you think I did a good job, put me in the list. I want to do this every home game.

And they said, all right. Well, what about the guy who normally did it? He's always going to do it. Oh, the guy how Wally Pipped? Yeah, I don't know. I'm telling you, after the game, there was no talk of that guy. You think you did such a good job? They forgot him?

I think so. Did you make friends with the guys other than... Doug? There's another one, though, right? There's three. Yeah, yeah, yeah, my buddy, my buddy, Reed. Okay. Oh, Reed.

My buddy, Reed, I'm not our read, a different read, but I've known him for like three or four years. So, Reed and I are tight. Doug, though, Doug was tough, man. Like, it was almost like he looked me up and down. Like, who do you think you are? Like, have you ever been chain gang before? You had to prove yourself? Yeah.

Yeah, because Doug's been doing it forever. Classic Doug. Yeah. And I think Doug, I'm not 100% sure, but I think Doug was. was texting the updates to the newspaper. As it was going? Seems like a little too many updates. Yeah.

You know, like every time like they'd score. Yeah, but they don't have anybody there like reporting. Probably, but I just, every time we'd score. I don't think they have the reporting manpower to put somebody at every game now. Maybe not. And what's that website, the high school, Max Prep's? Mm-hmm. So maybe he was just sending them.

They may keep it updated in so people can check scores live, like Max Prep's. Yeah. Oh, well, congratulations on your big gig. Thank you, dude. That's pretty awesome, man. Moving up in the sports world. Thank you, man. It's pretty cool.

You ever think it can be fun to be a referee? Yes. Like that would be cool, right? It's a lot of school. I would only want to be a referee on the biggest, biggest of levels. And that doesn't work. It doesn't work like that. It's like you said, I want to only want to be a major league baseball player.

No, no, you got to go through rookie ball, you know, so. I don't know, dude. Ref seems like such a stressful position. Like you said, you can't daydream at all. You don't think being a refereff in the NFL will be fun. Like getting to be in it, see it here, you know all the insides. I think it would be fun until they're like, Eddie, what is it?

And I'd be like, guys, it could go either way. And he just runs off, runs in the tunnel like Forrest Gump. Like, it's hard because I know there was this one play on Friday night when, when there was a holding,

right? And it was like a holding on, an offensive line was holding. And then the coach was yelling, the holding was right in front of you. And then the ref looks at the coach. Like, I only have two eyes.

I was looking at the runner. You know? And it's like, well, it's still your job. But I'm thinking like, that's tough. Everyone's just like, the holding was right there.

But you're like, dude, I was looking at the ball, not the hold. So you don't think it'd be cool to be NFL, MLB? No. No, absolutely not. I think it'd be too stressful, man. No, I think that would be so cool. I think it'd be fun to, like, go to school to do that. Mike, you think it'd be fun?

I think that would be awesome. I wouldn't talk to the coaches. You can't. Yeah, why does this guy even, like, humoring the coach? But even, like, you know, you watch the college games, like, their coaches are always just, like, talking to the refs. So you've got to, like, somehow humor them. Yeah. It's a relationship, I guess.

You don't God, I wouldn't. Just ignore them. Yeah, I ignore them completely. The whole time. Doing my job. I think they have specific ones on the sideline judges. Yeah. Who are there to actually communicate with the coaches.

That job would kind of stuff. Yeah, that would suck. Especially when you get somebody that just, like Bob Petrino used to just bite heads off. Nick Sabon used to bite heads off. So, that's fun. Congratulations. That was a weather guy when I was when I worked the news. He would work Friday.

He was a ref on Friday night. Yeah. Jim Spencer. Go Jim. He was a weather man by day, during the week. and then Friday nights he was a rough. That's awesome. That's cool.

Kevin had a, he says one of the top three moments of his life. Eddie, do you want to guess what it is before we tell you? Top three moments. He said he had a top three moment in his life happen. Is this one of the influences? Is this an influencer deal? No. What did you get like 10,000 likes or something?

I, okay. Dude, you know that feeling. Hey, what's your, what's your tone about? You know that feeling. You're not even pumped for me. What's your tone? He had a tone. I'm curious to know your tone.

Yeah, he didn't care. Over 300 yards. Okay, like, good job. Good job. It's probably going to happen again if you did it once. See, I feel like he's down playing it. Downhill, wind. I'm glad you weren't there because everyone else was stoked.

We haven't had rain in like a month. No, what were the factors? I'm asking you really. Oh, yeah. No, it's just no downhill. No, maybe a little bit of wind. I think some cross wind was coming actually. Okay.

Probably. Hit a car path, so then they kept rolling. Oh, that's a good point. But a legit 300-yard drive. Yeah, that doesn't happen. That's not in my arsenal. That's my best day of driving by far. All around.

All around. Yeah, I only had like four bad drives probably. Wow. Yeah. And I had like five. I had four really good ones in a row and that was the best one. So you said you went over trees. So was this kind of just like you had to go that way if you were going to...

Yeah, it was either like, you know, hit to the right of the trees a little bit and go around or just go straight over the trees. To be honest with you, I was just hitting it and it went over the trees. I did not expect to do that. But it went right over the trees. I mean, it was a monster shot. I will say that Kevin's drive. I mean, he doesn't, he don't play very well. but the driver, you struggle with the driver.

I do. Was there a reason to take a shot up? I know. I think. So what does he normally shoot in? In your opinion? Over 100. 110?

Around. Oh, not that high. Okay, 105. 101, maybe. Yeah, I mean, it's over 100 for sure. And so I've played with Kevin and the driver is left, right, straight. I always slice it. Yesterday, when we played, it was on, dude.

On. seen it like this. So I guess this is cool for him. It's the start of something for you. It's so much more fun when you can get a drive for the straight. Yeah, it is. Yeah, that's true. Well, congratulations. What do you think? What do you think about what? What's the question you're asking? A 300 and whatever yard drive. Okay. I think he's an athletic guy. If he's having a good day driving and he's swinging really hard, sure. It's just a great feeling. You guys know. Sure. When you get a hold of it? Sure. Yeah, it is a great feeling. I thought you had like an eagle. I think, I don't really think it's a top three moment for you though.

I mean, at the time, yeah. I think it's probably like a top 70, not 700 moment for you. Yeah, somewhere in there. Between 3 and 700. How much golf do you play? We haven't played a week. How much do I play?

I've only played twice this year. That was only my second time. And how did that round get together? I have family in town. My brother. Wait, I thought you were with Ray. Uh-uh. Did you not play golf with Ray?

No. At all? No. I haven't played with Ray in like two years. Did you see something? Maybe Ray and Pitts were playing golf. golf together. Oh, I, I played with Pitts.

My brother, my brother doesn't look like great. It was my brother and dad. Maybe it was that, I saw a picture of you guys playing golf. Yeah, yeah, Pitts, my brother, and my dad. How does that round get together? My dad and brother are in town, and we're like, we got to play around in golf. We had a nice Sunday, and then Pitts plays a lot of golf, so I was like, you want to come with?

He was our fourth. How hard is it to get on that course day of or day before? I booked it a week in advance. Got it. So that's, was it packed out there? It wasn't that bad. Okay, we actually had this guy's, this group behind us, right? this guy hit into the opposite fareway

and then we were waiting for him to hit up and he hit up and he had another really bad shot. Dude, this guy threw him, I'm not kidding, he had to be Gilmore his club back to his car. He threw it at his cart from like 20 yards away. I've never seen somebody that mad. I don't get that.

The weirdest part about people that throw clubs is there usually aren't good golfers anyway so you don't expect to be, how can you expect to be good when you aren't good anyway? Right. And then the next hole, they hit up on us. Like I can understand if you were a pro golfer and you wanted to throw clubs

because you probably don't hit that many bad so when you do it's a shock to your system. So what do you do when you're shocked? You throw a club. But like lunchbox. He's not a great golfer. No, and he throws his clubs. It's like, what do you expect?

You always suck. Yeah. Like I would never throw my clothes because I'm like, what do I expect? Well, and then plus they're expensive. Yeah, it's like you're throwing money. I know. You're damaging money.

That's what I thought. I was like, dude, you're not getting free ones out. If you break that one, you're not sponsored. You're not sponsored by how bad you are. So this guy hit on you guys? Yeah. And then the next hole he hit on us. I think we think he was so mad that he was playing so bad.

And then he hit up on us on the next hole. I'm not kidding, like five feet behind my brother. We were walking off the green. Was it the same hole, though? Did he hit 300 yards too? No, he couldn't do that. He couldn't do that. And he's looking for a way to find hate this heart.

I know. I don't know if it's just the hole, maybe. And he did it. So get this, he did it right in front of the marshal, literally sitting on that hole watching all of us. He did it right in front of the marshal. And so we turn around like, hey, what the F, blah, blah, blah, you know, and then the Marshall came up and he's like, I saw that happen.

Like, I'll talk to him. Like, come on, man. We look back, he literally has his arms around the guy. It's like, the Marshall knows the guy. Oh, boy. And we're like, okay, well, what do we do? And plus the Marshall's, like, what are they? Eight years old.

Yeah, he was. Yeah, he was. But it's like, what do we, like, we were pissed, but then we were having such a good time. We don't want it to ruin our mood. So then the next hole we just kind of sped up. And then we never had any problems after that. I get triggered and people hit on me. Yeah, that we were all, I mean, we were having such a good time.

seven holes in and then got triggered. Yeah, I worked on a golf course, and so I did maintenance on a golf course, so people hitting on me is a little traumatic. The workers would just get tagged with balls. And so without anybody, even because we had to water green, specific, if it got really hot,

because there was a, not hydration, what's the word of the water system? Irrigation. Thank you. The irrigation system, 95% of the time, unless it got really hot, and it couldn't keep up. So we had to go out real quick, stop it, go on a golf cart,

plug it in, and spray the greens of the water. And obviously we're on the green. Right. With a hose on the green. And they would still hit on us. I saw guys' heads get whacked, like cut. They wouldn't even, like, make sure you're looking at them or something? And like the foot.

You got hit the foot. Yeah, and like the foot, or I'd be like weed eating or something on the siding. People would hit. So I have a little PTSD with getting hit with golf balls. But once we were all playing in Austin, and it was me, Eddie, a couple of our friends at my course, and these guys kept hitting on us. And so we got up to this hole and they hit on us again.

It was like four. And so I'm pissed, so I'm like, all right, if I have to fight, I guess I will. I don't want to. I'm not a fighter, but I'm going to have some words because I'm pissed. And so they're coming at me and I'm standing there and I got my boy behind me. And I'm like, well, if we're going to fight, I guess we'll fight. And they're coming and I'm like, you guys got to stop me. And I look back and my boy's driven off and left me.

Oh, no. Oh, no. Bobby was all alone. No clubs, no boy. What the heck? He's like 200 yards down in the golf. And I'm like, oh my God, I'm about to get what by four dudes. Yeah, because talking crap on a golf course is cool when you have a foursome.

Or you got a wood in your hand. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You got back up and you got clubs. And I didn't need all four people. I just needed at least one with some clubs. Yeah. Because I was having a word. Now look back from my support.

Oh, my God. Well, sorry. All alone. You guys have a good day. The first thing I thought about was that hockey guy that just whooped that dude a couple months ago. And I was like, I'm going to be that guy today. They gets whooped? No, no, no, the hockey guy.

Oh, the one hockey guy. You're going to be the whooper. Yeah, the whoopper. Well, congratulations on your top three moments. Congrats, man. That's amazing. Thank you. Why are you being?
