The Bobby Bones Show - 25W: Why Bobby Loves Fernando Mendoza Even More After His Post-game Interview + The Secret Eddie is Keeping from His Wife + Most Googled Athletes of 2025

Episode Date: December 8, 2025

While everyone else thinks Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza's viral interview was cringe, Bobby is somehow an even bigger fan of him and explains what it is about that moment that stuck with him. Things ge...t a little dicey when Eddie admits he’s keeping a secret from his wife—and tries to justify why he hasn’t told her yet. Then the guys play a game trying to guess the most Googled athletes of 2025… and it does not go well. Guesses are all over the place; logic flies out the window, and somehow, they still feel confident until the real answers show up. It’s loose, honest, and one of those episodes where you really hear how they think when nothing’s scripted.   Download the DraftKings Sportsbook App today: https://dkng.co/bobbysports   If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, crisis counseling and referral services can be accessed by calling 1-800-GAMBLER (1-800-426-2537) (IL/IN/MI/NJ/PA/WV/WY), 1-800-NEXT STEP (AZ), 1-800-522-4700 (CO/NH), 888-789-7777/visit http://ccpg.org/chat (CT), 1-800-BETS OFF (IA), 1-877-770-STOP (7867) (LA), 877-8-HOPENY/text HOPENY (467369) (NY), visit OPGR.org (OR), call/text TN REDLINE 1-800-889-9789 (TN), or 1-888-532-3500 (VA).   21+ (18+ WY). We talk with Eddie about the Cowboys lost later, but we recorded that right after the game. I'm better now. I don't want better.
Starting point is 00:04:16 That's why we did it right after the game. So fresh. there. But I don't know. Looks like the Chiefs are done too. Yeah. This is a double whammy this week. Looks like the Bengals are done too. It's a bad. Bad. Bad. For us, we lost a lot of money. Guys, I'm telling you, if we don't have teams in our little league that make the playoffs, you just keep losing money and you have no chance to gain
Starting point is 00:04:37 it back. We're going to lose thousands of dollars. Like, how many thousands are you thinking? It just depends. It just depends what happens here. We're down 1600 right now? Okay. And what's the most? Say like we lose every single game from here on out. Like just to prepare myself, please. I don't know that. Yeah, that could be. That could be whatever.
Starting point is 00:04:52 Yeah. So we need the, because the Bengals aren't going to make the playoffs. No, they can win some games. It doesn't matter. People don't want to hear our little deal. It's like listening to somebody talking about fantasy football. Like nobody cares. I get it, but just know that it's not good for us.
Starting point is 00:05:04 We're down a lot. A lot. Like the Chiefs can still make the playoffs. But barely. 12%? Yeah. The Cowboys can still make the playoffs. I think it's like down to 6%.
Starting point is 00:05:13 Oh, it is? It's fallen since we talked about it last. Wait, but they're not even in our thing. No, I know. But just for, I don't even care about your emotions anymore. I just want money. Wow. Dude, I still haven't told my wife about this thing.
Starting point is 00:05:24 About the league that you're losing thousands of dollars. And so like the other night, I was talking about just kind of like how I just feel like a loser. And she's like, why? What's wrong? And I really couldn't tell her the reason. You know, like I started making stuff up. Why are you hiding from your wife how much money you're losing?
Starting point is 00:05:37 Just because maybe we won't have to. Maybe we won't. Maybe we won't. Maybe we won't have to owe that much. What if everything turns around and we just, we get money? Then I'll tell her. The problem with that is like we need the bucks to go far
Starting point is 00:05:49 and they lost again to the stupid saints You're kidding me They had that game too We should have Eddie call his wife And tell her on the phone on this No No It's a terrible idea
Starting point is 00:06:00 I think that's a terrible idea too Thank you Okay so Where do you guys want to start It wasn't even that interesting Of a football weekend I can say that Bengals And Bill's game
Starting point is 00:06:13 By itself in a vacuum was an awesome game. The snow was super cool. Love it. Battle of two great quarterbacks. But Burrow, man, sucked at the end. Those two interceptions, that little screen.
Starting point is 00:06:24 And the other was a deflection, but still. Yeah. And he looked awesome before that. The whole game. The whole game. Awesome. I thought the Bengals were going to win that thing. Me too.
Starting point is 00:06:32 Yeah, it was super cool. But it just wasn't that fun of an NFL weekend. Or maybe I'm just tired. I think you're tired because there were a lot of close games. I've lost so much. I don't care about close games if it's not like teams, it matter. I know that. But still, like, you know,
Starting point is 00:06:45 If you're going to sit and enjoy football, there were some pretty good games there. Not for us. Name one. Bears Packers? Bears Packers is good. That was one good one. Go ahead. Let's see. Don't say Steelers' Ravens, even though it was close. Steelers suck. Ravens suck.
Starting point is 00:06:58 It's two sucky teams both trying to not lose that division. Titans Browns? Both teams suck. Not a bad game, though. Titans Browns, you did not watch that game. Not a bad game. I did watch a little bit of it. I watched all of the selection show.
Starting point is 00:07:12 I watched the Indiana-Ohio State game was good. that was a good game. Yes. Did you watch it? I did. I lost on that one. Yeah, I did too, but that's okay. I kept doubling down in Ohio State too.
Starting point is 00:07:23 Exactly. Like I kept putting more money because it was like, there's no way Indiana wins this thing. Same. Because I had them when the game started at minus four, then I went to minus two, so I loaded up there, minus one loaded up there.
Starting point is 00:07:34 I loaded up and never got any of it back. I was thinking, man, there we go. This is where we cut, turn the game around. I'm pretty sure. That Kurt Signetti sold a, sold to the devil. He might have. This is the most dramatic,
Starting point is 00:07:48 this is the greatest rise in the history of college football. Like, until this past weekend, Indiana had the worst losing percentage of any power four team in college football of all time. And the fact that he came in year one and it wasn't like
Starting point is 00:08:01 a ton of money was injected into the year one Indiana team. He basically brought a bunch of his JMU guys and won. Yeah. He got a quarterback and won. And he got a better quarterback. back this year.
Starting point is 00:08:15 Yeah. Went to Cal, right? You know what it came? Yeah. Yeah. It's wild and it also is going to create an unfair standard to other programs because it's not like Texas Tech where they openly talk about.
Starting point is 00:08:26 I watched an interview with the billionaire Texas Tech. It was like, look, we saw where they were grandfathering in the old NIL rules. We had a very short time to commit all the money to it before the new rules changed with the revenue sharing. He said, so we did. So we did it. We dedicated all this money. We basically bought this team.
Starting point is 00:08:43 they can't do that moving forward because there are rules against how they did it but that is a different version of what Indiana is Indiana is a guy coming in changing the culture worst team ever year one they freaking go to the Big Ten championship they get in the playoff yeah year two they're the number one team they win the Big Ten
Starting point is 00:09:02 they've never even wild and they beat Ohio State who I thought and a lot of people thought was the best team by far in the country like I said it like top to bottom they didn't match talent-wise If you look to stars, at least they didn't have the depth. No, I mean, Ohio State's got first rounders on both sides of the ball all over the place.
Starting point is 00:09:20 Yeah, big shout out to Indiana. You're number one ranked. Indiana. What sucks is I put in this massive Georgia bet because I picked a team to win the whole thing, and it was Georgia. We did it on the show. But, like, I mean, massive for a thousand bucks. That's massive, right? Pretty big.
Starting point is 00:09:35 Yeah, that's pretty big, dude. I just don't want to get the messages. That's not massive. Massive's what? There's 5,000, 10,000. Don't be crazy. for me. It's a big bet.
Starting point is 00:09:45 I bet a thousand bucks on Georgia to win the whole thing. Well, now because Ohio State lost and they put them at the two, that'll be who they play, which sucks in the semis if they make it. What's boring about the bracket is you've got two rematches, which kind of sucks. You have Ole Miss and Tulane, which Ole Miss didn't have any problem with them earlier in the year. That's kind of boring.
Starting point is 00:10:06 You also have Oklahoma, Alabama. Oklahoma beat them pretty easily. Yeah. And neither team. are exciting to watch right now. Alabama, I think they got a raw PR deal. They had 10 guys missing for injury going into that championship game.
Starting point is 00:10:23 And I think if you play an extra game, if you have earned to play the extra game, if you could beat 100 to nothing, I don't think they penalize you. The difference in BYU is BYU wasn't in the mix. They had to win to just get in the mix. Alabama was already in.
Starting point is 00:10:38 So I don't think you can lose by having to play an extra game. I don't care if you get beat 100 of nothing I don't think you should be able to because nobody else played well enough to get to that point and they're in. Like a Notre Dame?
Starting point is 00:10:51 No, like an Ole Miss or anybody that didn't make the conference championship and they were playing 10 guys down basically against Georgia. Yeah, they got their bookwalk. But it's just hard to penalize somebody for winning and being forced to play more. Had Alabama not made it,
Starting point is 00:11:08 they'd have canceled the SC championship game. There'd be no more. Because why would anybody want to play it if it could get you eliminated from the college football playoff? You think eventually, because I think eventually they'll just get rid of these games altogether. I think they'll find a way for these games to be either a play-in or a part of it. A play-in would be good. Sort of, but you don't, but a play-in is a part of it. But yeah, it wouldn't be like it wouldn't have been Alabama versus Georgia.
Starting point is 00:11:36 You know what I mean? So I guess it wouldn't be a conference championship. That's my point. there would have to be some sort of tie-in to the tournament for that to happen. Is it an honor to win the conference championship? Yeah, the conference champions. Like Indiana has never been the Big Ten champion.
Starting point is 00:11:52 Texas Tech, I don't think, has ever been the Big 12 champion. I think the last time they won a conference championship, but it was called like the Texas Conference, some weird conference. Texarkana Conference. Yeah. Okay. They did you get a trophy and all that, right?
Starting point is 00:12:08 I mean, it's cool. You know, you won the conference. It's a big deal. And then if Kevin's saying get rid of it. Yeah, but most people are saying get rid of it if it's going to keep you out of the college football playoffs. Right. But you can still win like based on the rankings or your record the regular season.
Starting point is 00:12:22 You know what I mean? So they don't play this game at the very end. Yeah, you should win your conference championship just from how you did in the regular season. Right. The problem is the conferences are so big now that everybody can't play everybody so it's hard to get a true champion. But look at the ACC, they had a five-team tie or a six-team tie. and they have to... Duke.
Starting point is 00:12:40 And Duke hits it and Duke wins it. Duke. That's crazy. Yeah, crazy. So anyway, it was an interesting weekend. I don't like the Tulane Ole Miss matchup, which is kind of boring,
Starting point is 00:12:51 but they don't play this weekend, but they play next weekend. The good thing about it is football is, college football is back. We just have to wait until Christmas for bowl games. Right. Yeah. Now the tournament goes. I like the tournament.
Starting point is 00:13:01 I hope they had four more teams. I don't... What? Here's, we talked about this last week or the week before. The 12 teams. this is where it sucks is where you get the JMU. They're two. And the two lane to get in. I don't think they first
Starting point is 00:13:14 saw a circumstance like this. That's crazy. Where the ACC sucks so bad, or a five lost ACC champion, ended up being the conference winner. So they have to take the conference with the highest ranked conference winners. Yeah. Turns out you got the American and the
Starting point is 00:13:30 freaking sunbelt. And you got and then you got the Notre Dame sitting out, of course. It was either of them in Miami that was going to get in. and I understand why they're pissed, but it's just like, and I know that you got to get into chaos before, like last year was a Boise State getting to home field or whatever, was there a buy is what it was.
Starting point is 00:13:46 And this year they're trying to correct that. So there's going to be correction years. Second year's flaw, big time. I don't think this will ever happen again where two G5 schools get in. No way. They never could have seen this coming. So at 16, why not? But someone's always going to get pissed, right?
Starting point is 00:14:03 Yeah, but the severity of how pissed you get. That's interesting. There are levels. Weekends if you're fighting about a 16 or 17. Because think about the NCAA tournament. Those first four, the first four out that don't get in, you're only like irritated for like 20 minutes. And then you move on with life because you're like,
Starting point is 00:14:21 dude, you didn't even make the top. Yeah, we weren't that good anyway. 68. So the more you add to the mix, the less you can be mad if you didn't make it because now, dude, it's 16 teams. Like you win some games then. It's like Texas.
Starting point is 00:14:35 Don't lose to Florida. and you can cry because you're looking at Vanderbilt they lost two games they didn't get in sucks for Vanderbilt I know I love
Starting point is 00:14:45 I love the given James Madison a chance and two-lane and all that but do you think they'll ever win the national championship like a school that's small against these big dogs you think they'll ever
Starting point is 00:14:54 have a real chance to win ever is a tough question to ask but I can't see them anytime in the future the next decade or so of doing that because you just can't get the athletes
Starting point is 00:15:05 yeah yeah but a team like a James Madison could get a sudden influx of money that we haven't seen before that's true and I can understand a team like Boise State getting in when they're undefeated not getting in the bottom but an undefeated non-power force school I'm totally okay with getting in as that one spot
Starting point is 00:15:24 but yeah Notre Dame took it hard they were like we're not even playing a ball game we're out I totally feel you it they're out too oh they were like we're not even playing a bowl game Yeah. Their season's done. Are they getting fined as well? They don't have a conference, so they can't get fined.
Starting point is 00:15:39 Oh, you're right. The conference can't find them. And I saw contractually next year, if they're just in the top 12, they get in. Notre Dame needs to join a conference. I mean, they've never been part of a conference? They are in other sports. What conference are they like in other sports? In basketball?
Starting point is 00:15:56 Big 10? Yeah. In football, they want to stay independent. But so does Yukon. So does Yukon get the top 12 ruling too? Yeah, you kind of forget about Yukon. It's... Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:07 I don't hate seeing someone like Notre Dame left out because a lot of times Notre Dame gets in just because of who they are. I'm really surprised they didn't get in just because of who they are. Yeah, me too. If they weren't battling with another brand like the U, then they probably would have got in.
Starting point is 00:16:20 There's only a few other that would get in before. Well, so there we are. What was your biggest sports story of the weekend, Kevin? Patriots didn't even play. I know. It was a relaxing weekend for you? It was relaxing. far as a fan-wise, yeah, but everything else just went bad for me.
Starting point is 00:16:37 You mean gambling? Dude, I've lost everything, too. It's terrible, dude. Yeah, I had to put out a lien on the house, basically. Yeah, exactly, same. Probably Daniel Jones, the Colts. I mean, a couple weeks ago. So isn't it an Achilles tear?
Starting point is 00:16:48 Yeah. They have said? Yeah. A couple weeks ago, the Colts are like, oh, we could get the one seat. We're cruising. We lost to the Chiefs. It's all good. They traded.
Starting point is 00:16:57 Traded for Sauce Gardner. Tried the first round pick. And then now it's like their season's done. Who knows what they do next year. So that just sucks. If you're a fan, like, I don't need the Colts make the playoffs. No. Not with Leonard.
Starting point is 00:17:10 Yeah. And Anthony Richardson has a hurt eye because he's got hit in the eye in warm-ups. I was wondering why he wasn't playing. Yeah, he left for like an eye injury a couple weeks ago. Yeah. Got hit with a ball, I think, right? Yeah. Yeah, sucks for the Colts.
Starting point is 00:17:24 I like the Colts. I'm rooting for the Colts. Eddie, what was your biggest sports story? Fernando Mendoza. I don't know what to think about the guy. Oh, you said it like he's Hispanic. Well, yeah. He obviously is, but I don't ever hear Hispanic guy say his name.
Starting point is 00:17:36 It's always Fernando Mendoza. Dude, I mean, that is very Hispanic. If you got Fernando Mendoza, yeah, Hispanic dude. But I don't understand, I don't know if I like the guy or not based on his post-game interviews. I love him based on his post-game interview. Go ahead. Why? He yells the entire time.
Starting point is 00:17:55 He's the nerdiest dude. I know. And I expect him to just talk logic and be like, well, you know, they played a pretty good game. but I think we got them. You know, whatever. But he's like, no, baby, we got them. He yells and he looks at the camera the entire time. And, woo!
Starting point is 00:18:08 But thank God, I'm going to start with the Lord up above. Thank you so much. And we got him. Let's go, baby. And then it's like a serious question. And he's like, yeah, let me tell you about this. Like, dude, relax. Dude, it was right after the game, the first time they'd ever won a conference championship.
Starting point is 00:18:21 Here you go. Congratulations, 10 champs. Oh, you guys call yourself a bunch of misfits who found the risk for this group. It's the right place for process of origin. We're going day by day. The coach's special teams We're all process origin to one goal. That's our thing is we're brothers.
Starting point is 00:19:00 We can drive teams into the deep back. He's looking at the camera too. And we're the strongest glue ever. Tell me about finding Charlie Becker third down. Yeah. It's really nerdy and people are making fun of it. But I love it. He salutes the camera at the end too.
Starting point is 00:19:14 It does salute. He did the whole interview and I just sat there and be like, huh. I don't know what to think about this guy. Yeah. I think that he, at third down, clutch. Oh, yeah, dude. Won the game.
Starting point is 00:19:29 One in the highsman. Yeah. Yeah, because you have. I don't know, but I think Pavia's still got a shot. I haven't seen the new eyes. There's a, I don't even, I haven't seen him now. They just take them down. When you guys sent the text, I looked for him and they were already.
Starting point is 00:19:41 But at halftime, Pavia was a favorite, and I was fired up. Before that throw. And then, yeah, second half came out, and then that throw happened, I'm like, oh, no. That's pretty amazing. But there's still a slim chance. Yeah, I think so, too. I think he'll probably finish second. Oh, yeah, he will.
Starting point is 00:19:59 He probably, yeah. Now, if he wins the Heisman, if Mendoza wins the Heisman, and he does that crap when he gets the Heisman, I love it. No, I'm in. I'll give me a jersey. I don't care if he's a brown.
Starting point is 00:20:09 Think even further if he goes in the commercials. Oh, Mandela's in commercials next year. I'm out. I'm out. I'm out. Him and Baker Mayfield in the Heisman house. Yeah. Dude, is Baker hurt?
Starting point is 00:20:22 He looks like it. And they're just not saying. There are two quarterbacks that are really struggling. Lamar and Baker. Yeah. Emma Holmes. Yeah, but he ain't hurt. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:20:32 His freaking receivers suck. Well, that too. But I mean, even when he ran that ball, he looked like he was limping a little bit. He always kind of has a little like giddy up in his stuff. He's just career. They might miss the playoffs, which is crazy. First time in nine? Nine years?
Starting point is 00:20:48 Possibly. I don't know how many years. It makes sense. Yeah. Yeah. they might miss the freaking playoffs they probably will miss the playoffs you say 12% is that what you said yeah 12%
Starting point is 00:20:57 so they're 6 and 7 that's 13 there are 4 games left if they went all 4 they beat 10 and 7 usually that gets you in the playoffs yeah and it also depends on obviously whatever else does too but 10 wins is like a 90% to get you in the playoffs they have one
Starting point is 00:21:15 I know they have the chargers and the broncos so they have two hard games and the two easy games yeah the titans Yeah, they also play the Raiders, I think, too. I mean, it's the NFL, right? You never know, but those should be pretty good. I'm not giving up hope that they can make the playoffs. I know, man. They have the same record as the Dolphins all of a sudden.
Starting point is 00:21:34 I know. That's crazy. Dolphins have been playing some weak teams, but they've been winning games. Yeah, but A-chan got hurt too. I think that was pretty bad. Yeah, they, let's see. I'll find the odds of the chiefs to make the playoffs. I think I'm in a better one to make the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:21:49 Okay. Do it. Are you going to do reasonable, money or outrageous money. I need to see what the odds are. But if they win 10 games, it's rare that a 10-win team doesn't make the playoffs. Again, I think it's 90%. They have to win four games.
Starting point is 00:22:02 And again, Denver coming to Kansas City, but also wasn't that game of Kansas City last year? It was. Yeah, the Channing didn't help. They tried. What do you think about Did you seem to go over on fourth down? Yeah, twice. Was that desperate? The first one, especially? Well, it was fourth and like seven. Fort and four? Yeah. On their own
Starting point is 00:22:18 20 or something? They had a fourth and one. And they had a fourth and four. The fourth and four on their own. Is that the yeah. I think that the Texans, it's easy to say this after the fact. So everything I'm going to say, it's only because I still have the results of the game. Right. The Texans couldn't move the ball.
Starting point is 00:22:34 So to me, you punt, they haven't been able to move the ball all second half. Oh, so you're saying they should have punted the ball. Yeah, that far back. Yeah, I agree. Fourth and one on their own 20, or no, yeah, 31-yard line? I get it. Everybody wants to go on fourth and one now all the time. There was a fourth and four as well.
Starting point is 00:22:53 Yeah. After that one, yeah. So whatever. The odds are 15%. Did they make it? That's pretty good. It's better than I thought. It's not pretty good though.
Starting point is 00:23:04 It's been in the Cowboys, dude. Do you have what they are? Let's see. Are they 8%? 7%? They were at 9 and then after this week. Technically they have a better record. Because of the tie?
Starting point is 00:23:14 Yeah. 8%. 8%. But altogether, it's over a quarter that one of them had them together. Is that how that works? And then you throw the Ravens in there. Dude, I don't even know what's happening over there.
Starting point is 00:23:26 They look bad. The Ravens, they look bad. Did you think it was a touchdown? Likely? He did say he needed to get his third foot in. There's so much weird drama that happens with Isaiah likely near the end zone. Always. I know.
Starting point is 00:23:39 Somebody was saying, just take them out. Every time we get near the end zone, just take them out. Every yard, every sack, every interception, and every touchdown. Starting point is 00:26:47 You may know me as the author of The Fault and Our Stars, and now I guess also is the co-host of the Away End, a brand new world soccer podcast. I'm Daniel Alarcon, a writer and journalist, and John and I have known each other since we were kids. My first World Cup was Mexico 86. I was nine years old. I watched every game, and I fell in love.
Starting point is 00:27:06 On our new podcast, The Away End, we'll share with you the magic of international football, all leading up to the 2026 World Cup. For us, soccer... Football, is a story we've shared for over 30 years since Daniel was the star player on our high school soccer team. Very debatable.
Starting point is 00:27:22 And I was there. most loyal and sometimes only fan. I love this game. I love its history, its hope, its heartbreak, and above all, it's beauty. Together, we'll find out why, of all the unimportant things,
Starting point is 00:27:36 football, soccer, is the most important. Listen to the Away End with Daniel Alarcon and John Green on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. You can have opinions. You can have like a strong stance. And then there's your body having its own program. I'm Dr. Maya Shunker, a cognitive scientist and hosts of the podcast, a slight change of plans,
Starting point is 00:28:04 a show about who we are and who we become when life makes other plans. We share stories and scientific insights to help us all better navigate these periods of turbulence and transformation. There is one finding that is consistent, and that is that our resilience rests on our relationships. I wish that I hadn't resisted for so long the need to change. We have to be willing to live with a kind of uncertainty that none of us likes. Listen to a slight change of plans on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. On a recent episode of the podcast, Money and Wealth with John Ho'Brien, I sit down with Tiffany the budgetista Aliche to talk about what it really takes to take control of your money. What would that look like in our families if you're going to be?
Starting point is 00:28:56 Everyone was able to pass on wealth to the people when they're no longer here. We break down budgeting, financial discipline, and how to build real wealth, starting with the mindset shifts. Too many of us were never, ever taught. Financial education is not always about, like, I'm going to get rich. That's great. It's about creating an atmosphere for you to be able to take care of yourself and leave a strong financial legacy for your family. If you've ever felt you didn't get the memo on money, this conversation is for you to hear more. Listen to Money and Wealth with John O'Brien from the Black Effect Network on the I'd Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:29:42 I know we're kind of bouncing back and forth between college and NFL, but both Kansas State, because Notre Dame, Kansas State and Iowa State all opted out of bowls. Yeah, interesting. Why? Just like because they're getting, they're getting fine, like, half a million dollars for it. And I feel like it's a time now where money's really important on how good your team's going to be. That's half a million that you're just going to throw away because you feel like you don't have the coaching staff or whatever to play a bowl game. Just go play a ball game. Or the players.
Starting point is 00:30:11 If everybody's opting out. Then all the freshmen play. It'll be a freshman game. You know, but opting out. Is that worth half a million dollars? I could see if you don't have your team. Like how many? Because I did see that they, yeah, like they don't have enough players or.
Starting point is 00:30:24 whatever, but what does that mean? They don't have enough. If so many people are getting in the portal, they may not have enough to field, because you need two or three deep offense and defense, at least two deep, offense and defense, special teams. They just may not have enough players, especially at some positions, they may have no players at all. And then you could also use that time and resources to go get more players for next year. But if that's the case, I would say, like, oh, we would love to play, but we just can't because we don't have enough players. But that's not the take, that's not their like, yeah, we're good. We're not, we just, it's too much going on. We're not
Starting point is 00:30:53 going to do it. They didn't say any of that that you just said. That's your interpretation. He just makes us up in his head. When I saw all the stuff about like, yeah, we got coaches leaving and stuff, we just, you know, we're not going to do it. There is a Google's top trending 20, 25 searches in sports for the year. Ooh. In 2025. All year. And I'm going to tell you, I have two versions, but the real ones, the athletes. So we can go around the room. All sports? Yeah, it's all sports.
Starting point is 00:31:23 searches in sports. The 10 athletes that were searched the most on Google. Kevin? Jalen Hertz. Jalen Hertz. Why? One in the Super Bowl. Okay.
Starting point is 00:31:35 Like who is he? I want to learn more about him. Yeah. Didn't make it. Wow. Brandon? Travis Kelsey. Oh, that's interesting.
Starting point is 00:31:42 A solid. I didn't think about that. That's a good guess. Did not make it. Oh, man. Eddie? LeBron James. Health.
Starting point is 00:31:49 Nah. Oh, dang. Oh, are you going, sorry. No. No. I have the list of it. I have a list. Think about
Starting point is 00:31:58 Because a lot of this is like people's first time looking them up Or like events that happened Okay Or like you're introduced to somebody so you look them up Okay Diego Pavia That's good No
Starting point is 00:32:12 messy No That's the opposite of what I just said I got it Yeah Cooper flag Boom At number three Cooper flag
Starting point is 00:32:22 Eddie good job Go again Fernando Mendoza They just googled him yesterday Kevin I'm trying to think Shea Gilgis Alexander Nna SGA
Starting point is 00:32:34 Archmanning Oh that's a good one Not a good one Nah Apparently not We suck Eddie Hold on now
Starting point is 00:32:41 Hold on Let's go with Wimbi Yama How tall is Wembe Okay no Okay I'll give you guys hints Just yell it if you know it the number 10 person was
Starting point is 00:32:54 somebody who retired earlier but was coming back for like a special night Eddie Eddie Gronkowski no Brady not football basketball oh
Starting point is 00:33:10 he's retiring wait I'm wrong on this one I was thinking a different person because didn't some of didn't Gron come back for like a game no Grog did go back for like yes they did like a didn't they do recognize Well, yeah, he signed a one-day contract
Starting point is 00:33:23 like two or three weeks ago, but... I'm thinking of the wrong person here. This is a golfer. Oh. And he came back? No, forget what I said. Okay. Was it Tiger?
Starting point is 00:33:34 No, it was Justin Rose. Oh. Why were they Googling him? Dude, I don't know. I would have never gotten there. Did he win something this year? I don't know. I got one.
Starting point is 00:33:43 What? Should do her. Number one. Good job, Brandon. Who was I thinking instead of Justin Rose? Are you thinking another golfer? Derek Rose. Derek Rose.
Starting point is 00:33:53 He went back to Chicago. He got his jersey retired. That's what it was. He didn't make the list. Okay. That's what I thought. My idiot. Yeah, that's number one.
Starting point is 00:34:00 Number two is a boxer. Oh, Canelo Alvarez. Is this the guy that got his title taken away? Tyson Fury. Terrence Crawford. I think that might be him. Yeah, he was stripped. Right?
Starting point is 00:34:21 Because he didn't give money. He said that he was going to... For allegedly failing to pay sanctioning That's what it was. Dude, that's like not getting your degree because you didn't pay your parking ticket. I know, dude. The next one's a football player was a rookie, popped hard, got hurt. Oh, Jaden Daniels.
Starting point is 00:34:41 No. Rookie this season. Oh, this season. Hought hard, got hurt. Like went hard, got famous, then got hurt. Oh, Jackson Dirt. No, his... Cam Scataboo.
Starting point is 00:34:51 Skattaboo. Oh, that's good. The next person's NFL, number five, involved in a massive trade. Oh, Parsons. Good. Michael Parsons. Good job, Brandon. The next one is somebody who Brandon said a minute ago.
Starting point is 00:35:05 But didn't get it? It says Jason Dart, but I don't think it's... Oh, Jackson. Oh, yeah, you said him. The next one is a WMBA player who got into a fight protecting Caitlin Clark. Oh, what was her? I don't remember her name. Sophia Cunningham.
Starting point is 00:35:20 Sophie Cunningham. Nice. The next one is the sibling of somebody on the list. Shiloh Sanders. Correct. There you go. The next one spit on a cowboy. Oh, that's...
Starting point is 00:35:30 Jaylon Carter. Yeah, Jalen Carter. Yeah, that's the list there. Wow. Who's the other spitter? Oh, Jamar Chase. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He had spit on Jalen Ransy, right?
Starting point is 00:35:40 Yeah. Was that who it was? Yep. What do you think the top teams are? Cowboys. Nah. Searched? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:47 Browns? Nah. Okay. A lot of these are soccer clubs. There's only four that aren't. Oh, Madrid. You're just saying to something. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:55 All these soccer clubs, I don't know what they are, so I'm not going to worry about it, four American sports teams. Dodgers? Oh, Dodgers for sure at one World Series. No, don't say for sure when it's not right. No? Okay.
Starting point is 00:36:07 Then you get punished. Blue Jays? Yeah. Number four Blue Jays. Like, where are they from? Yeah, like, who are the Blue Jays? They're a team? Number four, Blue Jays.
Starting point is 00:36:16 There's another baseball team that's not the Dodgers. Pirates? No, nobody here. Yankees. It was because of the... Mariners. The Mariners.
Starting point is 00:36:25 Oh, nice. And there's two NBA teams. Oklahoma City. Correct. Thunder. San Antonio Spurs. No. Why do you say no like that?
Starting point is 00:36:35 They could be wondering about the spurs? Houston Rockets. Who'd they play in the championship? SGA, Oklahoma? Oh, Indiana. Indiana Pace. Yeah, there you go. God, that wasn't even that long ago.
Starting point is 00:36:49 I already forgot, though. Fun game. Nah. Yeah, it kind of wasn't that fun. I was fun to play it. I thought it'd be a little easier to get to. Yeah. All right.
Starting point is 00:37:00 Anything else you guys want to do? Before we go to Eddie and I talking about the Cowboys? No, man. No, I'm just go straight to that if you want. Okay. We'll do this and then we'll come back and this is, well, we recorded this already. Here we go. Okay, so we're recording this on Friday right after the Dallas Cowboys game.
Starting point is 00:37:17 I knew you're going to do this. I wasn't even ready for this. We are in to record other stuff, but it's right after the Cowboys lost. Right after Eddie was feeling at the top of the world because the Cowboys are, Cowboys were back. They were making the playoffs. Your thoughts on the game last night. Did you think they were going to come back in the fourth quarter?
Starting point is 00:37:35 I thought when they got it to... Seven. A score, yeah, one possession, yes. But then Detroit just... They just shoved the ball in their throat again. Gibbs, man. Gibbs, they were passing the ball to give him. He was running the ball through our guts.
Starting point is 00:37:50 Like, I don't know, dude. It was bad. It was bad. The penalties I saw that they gave up. Cowboys gave up like almost 100 yards of penalties. that is ridiculous. So how do you feel about the Cowboys' chances now? Yeah, it's done, dude, it's over.
Starting point is 00:38:03 It's not officially over, but it's pretty much over. It's not our year. Man, it's changed, huh? In a matter of one day, because again, you're hearing this on Monday. However, we recorded this the morning after the Cowboys lost. So we're getting fresh Eddie here. I think the percentage is nine now that we make the playoffs. Nine, I mean, there is.
Starting point is 00:38:23 Nine's not zero. Nine is not zero. It's going to call for a lot of other teams to just kind of lose. games. Well, the Eagles, mostly, right? I mean, you kind of need to win the NFC East in order to make it. It's going to be hard to win the wild card in the NFC because so many of those teams have, and we'll have nine and ten wins probably. Yeah, there's a lot of good teams in the NFC. If you're in the AFC, it'd be a little easier. I think so too. Yeah, but that, that Eagle's schedule looks pretty, I mean, it looks like they can sail through that one.
Starting point is 00:38:50 I don't think, they have a more difficult schedule than the Cowboys do. They just have to lose, I think, two more games. Yeah. I mean, you're right, dude. Anything can happen. Because I think the Eagles have the Chargers, I'm going from memory here, I think the Eagles have the Chargers and possibly the Bills or another good game and then three bad games. I think they play the Commanders twice, which they're a little feisty. Commanders, it could be, yeah, Marioada. Probably the best backup quarterback in the NFL.
Starting point is 00:39:17 What do you see? Yeah, Chargers Monday night. So tonight. Tonight, and then the Raiders. That's an easy win for the Eagles. Commanders? They're probably going to win that one. And then the Bulls.
Starting point is 00:39:28 So they got two games they could possibly lose. You really need them tonight to lose to the Chargers. Yes, and we need to keep winning. Not keep because you just lost. Right, but well, I mean, like, we can't lose another game. Whenever CD Lamb went down, he didn't catch that ball. I saw his hands come up and do the Tua. That's what everyone's calling it.
Starting point is 00:39:45 Oh, they did? On social media. That's what it reminded me up. Same. That's what I thought too, but it's just funny. Not funny, but people are like, oh, he's doing the Tua. It's the fencing position or whatever when their hands kind of clamp up. But it was backwards, though.
Starting point is 00:39:57 His hands were behind his back. I just saw the wrist and the fingers and I said, that looks like when two, because I didn't know anything about fencing or what happens to people's hands whenever they get concussed. Like I learned that from Tua. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:09 From him. Tua taught everyone what that meant. He's basically the Sesame Street of Concussions for all of us dummies. So when I saw him go down, I didn't think it was like some massive hit and I didn't see his head hit the ground in real time. When they showed it back, his head hit the ground very hard.
Starting point is 00:40:24 Yeah. And then his hands went up. And then they said when he was walking off, He was like, no, I'm good, no, I'm good. And they were like, you're not good, you're not coming back. They do that in UFC, too. Like, they wake up from being out for 30 seconds. No, I'm good, I'm good.
Starting point is 00:40:34 No, dude. We just woke you up. You were out for 30 seconds. What about the George Pickens? It looked like he wasn't running hard later on in the game. Yeah, I saw that. People were saying you got Pittsburgh Pickens last night. Right, right.
Starting point is 00:40:46 I feel like they were showing when they weren't throwing him the ball. You know, so like, I think when they weren't throwing him the ball and it was going somewhere else, yeah, he was probably like, why am I going to finish this route if I'm not getting that ball? right now. But is there logic to, if you don't run the route, I don't throw you the ball. Yes, but I think the camera was going to him after the ball was already thrown. You know what I mean? That's kind of what I got from those clips.
Starting point is 00:41:09 So you think they were fishing for it? I think they were fishing for like, look how lazy he is. I think if they got him running the route before the ball was thrown, he'd probably be going 100%. But that's not what they were showing. I don't know. I saw a couple routes they threw to him. He also stopped running in the route.
Starting point is 00:41:23 There's one deep route specifically. A curl or something too where he thought he was going to get hit, it looked like. It almost got picked off, but he kind of stopped. He was like, no, I'm good on that. Two guys, it was kind of in his hands and he didn't go for it. Yes, I saw that. Like, what side? Pickens' height and weight, because he's not as big as CD Lamb, but he's also not as small receiver.
Starting point is 00:41:40 He does look pretty skinny, dude. He's a little thin. Yeah, he looks skinny. But he's not small. He's not like Turpin. No, no, no. Turpin is like our size. Turpin's micro machine.
Starting point is 00:41:50 Yeah. No, he's smaller than us. Is he? I would think Turpin is like 5-9-5-10. Because you're what, 6-1? 6-1. Yeah, I'm solid. You're six foot.
Starting point is 00:41:56 I'm solid 6'1. So he's probably, I want to say he's 511. Pickens? Turpin? Turpin. Okay. Well, Pickens first.
Starting point is 00:42:03 Pickens is 6.3. But he's probably realistic like 6.1. He's 6.3. I thought it's listed. 200 pounds. 200 pounds. Guess his weight. Oh, sorry.
Starting point is 00:42:10 110? No. I'm going to go 190. 200. 200. So is it like his flare that he wears that makes him look thin? Yeah, maybe. Because a 63, 200-pound receiver,
Starting point is 00:42:24 that's a pretty significant body. Yeah. Remember when we were in Dallas, and I think it was the first time that we saw... Tony Pollard. Tony Pollard. Yeah. Bigger than I thought he was
Starting point is 00:42:35 because he looked small on TV. But we saw Tony Pollard and were like, wow, he's kind of bigger than I thought. With all the pads and stuff, we had him on our NFL show and he came in no pads. Not small, but not big. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:49 Like you wouldn't, yeah, you wouldn't see him and go, that guy plays football. You'd go, that guy does something because he definitely looks like an athlete. but doesn't look like he has the body of a running back that's going to take a lot of abuse. Yeah. But I can't believe the pickings is 6-3-200 pounds.
Starting point is 00:43:02 That blows my mind. Yeah, and Turpin is 5-9. Oh, gosh. Want to guess so wait? 110. 170. 175. 153.
Starting point is 00:43:11 Oh, dude. I mean, you see him running those kick returns? He's 5-9-153. That's tiny. Dude, that's why they destroy him when they tackle him. And that's what he's listed at. So, like, he's probably like, 140 or something. Oh, because they always boost.
Starting point is 00:43:24 a little bit. Dude, that's wild. Yeah, that's crazy. Did you see the kicker? I think he was just let go. He didn't play for Arkansas. They said he played for Arkansas. He played for Arkansas State.
Starting point is 00:43:34 And I think he was a Saints kicker for a bit. You may look him up. He was like 5-7, 130. And he was walking out. And he was signing a couple things. And they were like, kicker. He may have just been released. He looked like a child.
Starting point is 00:43:48 130, dude. That is small. Again, I'm exaggerating, I'm sure. But there's a kicker that played for Arkansas State and somewhere else. Blake Groupie? That's it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:58 And he played for the Saints? He was with the Saints, I believe, at the time when they shot the video. Yeah, he's not with him anymore. Now they got that guy from Ireland or something. I don't know if you saw that story last week. O'Rourke? Yeah. Oh, who is?
Starting point is 00:44:10 O'Donnell. I literally have no idea. Just put an O in front of a name. Look at this guy. This is the Arkansas State kid. Look at how small he is. Oh, yeah. That's a picture of him on Notre Dame.
Starting point is 00:44:22 Damn. Wow, dude, he's tiny and he looks really young. He looks like a child in all facets, even his size. Did it say what his height and weight was? I don't think he's 5'9. Nor do I think he's 13 years old. Let's see. I'll say this about Brandon Aubrey. That dude doesn't miss. No, he doesn't, dude.
Starting point is 00:44:44 And he tackles on returns. I know. I didn't like that. I mean, I hated that he had to do it, but I like that he tackled. I hated that he had to do it. 5-7. And he's actually weighs more than Turp and he's 156. Okay. 5-7-156.
Starting point is 00:44:59 5-7 is Ramundo. Yeah, that's small, dude. Small and weighs less than Ramundo. Gosh, that's crazy. It also shows you like a golf swing. The kicking motion isn't about how strong and how big you are. It's technical. It's like, it's how you do it.
Starting point is 00:45:16 Yeah, it's more strength efficiency, right? Yeah, yeah. That's why I'm so bad. I mean, look at Brandon Aubrey, dude. It looks like he's just tapping the ball. There's no effort. That 62 that he kicked, like, there's no effort on that kick. And it just went perfect.
Starting point is 00:45:29 I don't want to screw him out of a yard. I think it was 63. Yeah, thank you. I think it was because once you hit over 60, like all those yards matter. I know, I know. Absolutely. Dallas Cowboys. Yeah, where it's out.
Starting point is 00:45:40 Less than 10%. This season's over. Who they have next week? I think we, next week do we have, I don't know. Vikings. Oh, Vikings. That's good. If you win a couple, you're going to be back in.
Starting point is 00:45:52 We're going to hear you again. No, probably not. Probably not. I mean, two, maybe. Depends how bad they beat him. Like, if they kill the Vikings. You need the Eagles to lose tonight. Correct. Yes. Were you surprised how bad their defense was, the Cowboys? I didn't think their defense was too bad.
Starting point is 00:46:06 They started off strong, and then I think just got figured out. I think they just kind of knew what to do with this. I think the hot take, hot take. Aubrey at Linebacker. No. Amun Ra was never hurt. And I feel like they got. He was moving really well.
Starting point is 00:46:23 I feel like they got us with that and we moved our whole defensive scheme on on how to cover without Amman Ra. And they got, dude, they never, I mean, I think Jemir Gibbs caught the ball 10 times. You think he had 10 receptions? I think he got more receptions that he got runs. Maybe, I don't know. Close. It's going to be close. But I think that that screwed with us.
Starting point is 00:46:47 Kevin's just frantically always looking out, looking out things that we're saying. It's a lot harder on the phone than the computer. I'm used to being on a computer. I feel like they threw the ball to him a lot. He had, what, three touchdowns? Yes. That one play when he was going to the sideline, and I don't want to make the whole podcast,
Starting point is 00:47:02 and we'll wrap it up. But they threw him and out, and he stopped, cut back in, and the Dallas Cowboy cornerback. Ancles broke. It looked like a crossover. Look like an Iverson crossover that happened. He couldn't stop himself.
Starting point is 00:47:13 Still searching. You're on Wi-Fi here? No. That'd probably be why you can't find it. Well, let's take your word for it. Eddie, you're never wrong. Never, dude. I know what I saw.

Starting point is 00:47:35 Okay, that wraps up this segment back in time. Thanks, dude. Of Eddie and the Dallas Cowboys. Every yard, every sack, every interception, and every touchdown. Starting point is 00:50:27 I'm John Green. You may know me as the author of The Fault and Our Stars, and now I guess also is the co-host of The Away End, a brand new world soccer podcast. I'm Daniel Alarcon, a writer and journalist, and John and I have known each other since we were kids. My first World Cup was Mexico 86. I was nine years old.
Starting point is 00:50:44 I watched every game and I fell in love. On our new podcast, The Away End, we'll share with you the magic of international football, all leading up to the 2026, World Cup. For us, soccer, football, is a story we've shared for over 30 years since Daniel was the star player on our high school soccer team. Very debatable. And I was their most loyal and sometimes only fan. I love this game. I love its history, its hope, its heartbreak, and above all, its beauty. Together, we'll find out why, of all the unimportant things, football, soccer, is the most
Starting point is 00:51:19 important. Listen to the away end with Daniel Alarcon and John Green on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. You can have opinions. You can have like a strong stance. And then there's your body having its own program. I'm Dr. Maya Shunker, a cognitive scientist and hosts of the podcast, a slight change of plans, a show about who we are and who we become when life makes other plans. We share stories and scientific insights to help us all better navigate these periods of turbulence and transformation. There is one finding that is consistent, and that is that our resilience rests on our relationships. I wish that I hadn't resisted for so long
Starting point is 00:52:07 the need to change. We have to be willing to live with a kind of uncertainty that none of us likes. Listen to a slight change of plans on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. If you're watching the latest season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, you already know there's a lot to break down. Dorcia accusing Kelly of sleeping with a merry man. They holding Kay Michelle back from fighting Drew. Pinky has financial issues. I like the boozy style of Housewives show. I think it looks like it's going to be interesting. On the podcast, Reality with the King, I, Carlos King, recap the biggest moments from your favorite reality shows, including the Real House Wise franchise.
Starting point is 00:52:53 drama, the alliances, M&T, everybody's talking about. As an executive producer in reality television, I'm not just watching it. I understand the game. As somebody who creates shows, I'll even say this. At the end of the day, when people are at home, they want entertainment. To hear this and more, listen to Reality with the King on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. All right, looking at odds here on the NFL.
Starting point is 00:53:21 the AFC one seed The Patriots and the Broncos are tied as the favorites Oh, that's a good bet I feel like the Patriots are due for a reckoning Yeah I'm waiting for it Everybody's celebrating them so much And that's usually what happens
Starting point is 00:53:40 As soon as people start to celebrate you Got the bills this week You kind of let your foot off the gas a little bit It's in New England though right? Yeah Yeah But if we win Then we win the AFCE
Starting point is 00:53:52 It's the bills Big game Yeah, bills Snow game? Should we have another snow game? I feel like it's always snowing up there. Patriots, Broncos, then the Jaguars at number three.
Starting point is 00:54:02 That's tough, man. And then the bill is a plus 1,600. That's some good money. You can bet yes or no on if these teams make the playoffs. So, okay, how do you guys feel about the Chiefs? I bet the favors no,
Starting point is 00:54:16 obviously, because they're at what percentage? Yeah, minus 550. Yeah. So you'd have to bet $550 to make $100. Man, it's hard to not believe in the Chiefs, though, that they can pull it off. I'm going to bet, if I bet yes, it's a plus $3.90. If I bet yes, I bet $500, that pays $24.50. I'm going to do that.
Starting point is 00:54:35 Like they just start catching balls all of a sudden? Dude, that was terrible. Yeah, all of them. Just dropping passes left and right. And then Mahomes just running for his life every play. Like, that's tough. Do you got to stay up and watch the whole game? No, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:54:49 Yeah. And that's rare for me, dude. I usually stay up to watch because I have a bet going or whatever. I was like, one, my bets aren't going to hit and two, like this is a dumb game. I was defeated mentally. Because we had lost so much money. Yes. Did you guys go check the page?
Starting point is 00:55:01 No, no, no, no. Is it updated? Yeah, I think we're at minus. No, no, no. I just said it earlier, like $1,600. Honestly, that's not as bad as I thought. I start to feel guilty because you guys are going to owe so much money. Don't worry about us, dude.
Starting point is 00:55:14 No, you should worry about us. Like, I've mentally. prepared myself for a certain amount of money. And if we go above that amount, we're in trouble. What have you mentally prepared yourself for? I can't tell you that. Yeah, you can. No, I don't want to, what do you call manifest? You're not. No, I asked you. Yeah. Oh, that's not, that's not manifesting. If you asked me that takes all that out. What do you got? $2,500. A piece? Okay, so, so for you to have to pay $2,500, that would mean we'd lose $10,000 total. Which is possible. I don't think we're going to lose that much money.
Starting point is 00:55:49 Okay. No. We're still going to win some games. I feel like if Joe Burroughs back to Bengals are going to win some games, I think the Chiefs are still going to win some games. Yeah. I bet them to make the playoffs. Dude, what's so hard, though, is like when I'm watching these games,
Starting point is 00:56:03 like, you know, we have a Sunday ticket and the kids are like, Dad, put it on the Bills game. I'm like, hold on. Like, I'm watching, you know, whatever, like one of our teams. And they're just like, why do you care so much about the Bengals? Like, I can't tell you. I don't know. But I like watching.
Starting point is 00:56:18 Oh, you're not even telling your kids. And even if I did, it's hard to explain. Like, I got him on this thing. They think you're a massive Bengals fan now. Yes. All right. Well, we appreciate you guys. Truth be told, we had a guest schedule today and they never showed up.
Starting point is 00:56:31 We won't say who it is. Yeah. We were ready to go. But the guests never showed up. Dang. Oh, Dilfer all over again. Not in person, though. Yeah, that's a little different.
Starting point is 00:56:44 They never zoomed in. So, yeah, that's it. Hope you guys have a great rest of the day. And we'll see you guys later on this week. All right. Love the Westlady. All right, bye, buddy. Theme song written by Bobby Bones.
Starting point is 00:56:58 That's me. And performed by Brandon Ray. Follow Brandon on social at Brandon Ray Music. You can follow the show on Instagram at Bobby Bones Sports. Thanks to our crew. Co-host at Producer Eddie. Segment producer at Kickoff Kevin. And executive producer at Mike D. Stroh.
