Starting point is 00:00:42 My dad gave me the best advice ever. He goes, just give it a shot. But if you ever reach a point where you're banging your head against the wall and it doesn't feel fun anymore, it's okay to quit. If you saw it written down, it would not be an inspiration. It would not be on a calendar of, you know, the cat. Just hang in there. Yeah, it would not be...
Starting point is 00:01:05 Right, it wouldn't be that. There's a lot of luck. Listen to Thanks, Dad, on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. In 2023, Bachelor star Clayton Eckerd was accused of fathering twins. But the pregnancy appeared to be a hoax. You doctored this particular test twice, Ms. Owens, correct? I doctored the test ones. It took an army of internet detectives to uncover a disturbing pattern.
Starting point is 00:01:32 Two more men who'd been through the same thing. Greg Gillespie and Michael Marantini. My mind was blown. I'm Stephanie Young. This is Love Trapped. Laura, Scottsdale Police. As the season continues, Laura Owens finally faces consequences. Listen to Love Trapped podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:01:54 Hey, I'm Dr. Maya Shunker, a cognitive scientist and hosts of the podcast, a slight change of plans, a show about who we are and who we become when life makes other plans. I wish that I hadn't resisted for so long the need to change. We have to be willing to live with a kind of uncertainty that none of us likes. You can have opinions. You can have like a strong stance. And then there's your body having its own program. Listen to a slight change of plans on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. On a recent episode of the podcast, Money and Wellness.
Starting point is 00:02:34 with John Hobriant, I sit down with Tiffany the budgetista Aliche to talk about what it really takes to take control of your money. What would that look like in our families if everyone was able to pass on wealth to the people when they're no longer here? We break down budgeting, financial discipline, and how to build real wealth,
Starting point is 00:02:53 starting with the mindset shifts, too many of us were never, ever taught. If you've ever felt you didn't get the memo on money, this conversation is for you to hear more. Listen to money and money Wealth with John Hope Ryan from the Black Effect Network on the I'd Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Best Bits of the Week with Morgan. It's listener Q& Daytime.
Starting point is 00:03:19 Where Morgan and a show member answer almost all your questions. Time to answer some listener questions. And Amy is joining me this weekend. Thanks, Amy, for being here. Happy to be here. We're doing it kind of just on rogue. I'm literally just going through these questions because I thought it'd be more fun. Most of the time I put them all out and do the whole thing, but I feel like I miss them.
Starting point is 00:03:37 I come in super late right at the tail end of it. So we're just running with this. Megan from Kentucky wants to know our food obsessions right now. Oh, gosh. I'm thinking I have a few, but Kiwis. You have been boasting a lot about Kiwis. Kiwis with the skin and toast with cream cheese. Toast with cream.
Starting point is 00:04:03 I had to think about that one for a second. Yeah, that's good. Yeah. Normally my daughter's just gotten into cream cheese on her bagels. And so now we have cream cheese in the house. And I'm like, oh, I want toast with cream cheese and I sprinkle a sea salt on top. Yeah. So the toast thing, obsession still stays. Oh, yeah. I've all. Yes. I've been obsessed with toast for years. It's just the toast toppings that change. Fair. But I will always be a toast girl. You should try cottage cheese on toast. Okay. I'll try that. With some honey and you can do some little. I do sometimes huddy and fig butter and pistachios. Really yummy. I've also. I've also. I've also. I've also done like tomatoes with balsamic vinaigrette. Oh, I bet I would like that. Okay. All the good things. I'll try it.
Starting point is 00:04:41 I am. Cottage cheese is kind of my obsession. It's like the hot thing on social media right now, but I've just been trying to get a lot of protein in. So scrambled eggs with cottage cheese and a little bit of honey is my like every morning right now. I love honey. Yeah. Do you like, but do you like cottage cheese? It grosses some people out.
Starting point is 00:04:57 No, I like it. Okay. I love cottage cheese and grapes. Oh. Okay. I need to try that. Because I love grapes. Yes.
Starting point is 00:05:03 Just put some cottage cheese in a bowl. cut up grapes and toss it in and eat it like, just like that. It's so good. We have more cottage cheese recipes for you guys. That's where we go. All right. A decision that you made that changed a lot in your life. Jay Lynn's girlfriend from Fort Worth. I think she's coming in through his account to write that question. Well, there's a lot of decisions that I've made that changed my entire life. I guess one that I'm thinking about this morning driving in. I was thinking about my boyfriend's kids and just my relationship with them. And I think choosing to go out on a date with him completely changed my life because I went out
Starting point is 00:05:45 with him not to really date him, but to practice dating. You were in that phase when you guys met. Even when you heard about him, you were in the practice dating phase. Yeah, because I was like, I can't take this on. Like he's a widower and he has three kids. This is a lot. He seems nice though. So why not?
Starting point is 00:06:02 let me, I need to practice dating. So I'm going to go and I went. And now here we are all these months later. And the, I mean, I can't, I don't know what's going to happen with us, but it's weird. I can't imagine not knowing what's going on with his kids, you know, or being a part of their life. And that was a part I was so scared of. Yeah. Isn't that crazy?
Starting point is 00:06:27 I would always like is the thing that you're afraid of most. I feel like mine, mine. mine really happened when I decided to graduate college early. That was like not something I took lightly and something I didn't really. I had all my credits and stuff done and I just was going to, you know, stay and hang out another year and just finish and have four years like everybody does. And I decided not to. And then my life is drastically changed because of it.
Starting point is 00:06:55 I don't think I would be in this job or where I'm at in my life had I not just taken the the correct road that everybody else did. I took the road that was so much different. And I had friends who were seniors in college who were still partying and having fun and I was at home trying to get a job. You know, it was not the thing that I, and for the first few months of it, I very much was like, what have I done? Did I make the right decision? And then, you know, getting the job at I heart back in Wichita to then just the trickle of events that followed. It's crazy. Like, drastically think my life would have turned out so different. Yeah. Had I not made that call. It's crazy. But, you know, you just, I think, I think a lot about when I make decisions is like, is this a decision that's
Starting point is 00:07:41 going to be one of those that I really need to make correctly? Or is it just going to be one that doesn't matter? Yeah. Like, what do I put on my toast this morning versus? Yeah. Or like, is it like, is putting something different on toast going to change my entire life in five seconds? Probably not. Probably not. Probably not unless it's some epic concoction that just blows up on social media and then you get hired by a toast creator company. And that could happen. Maybe it's because I'm getting older. I don't know, but I feel like I think about that a lot more now, just how my decisions are going to affect later me. And that feels weird.
Starting point is 00:08:16 Okay. What do you think happened to Amy Bradley, Laura from Wisconsin? I don't know. I go back and forth. I'm starting to lean towards Well, we're not ruining anything If people haven't watched it, right? Because I don't want to get accused of spoiling anything
Starting point is 00:08:32 But she is missing. I mean, the show is called or the Netflix doc, which this is the latest one. There are other ones I want to watch that I've heard about And they're past interviews that I would like to watch And I've read some different thoughts on it And I thought she was trafficked And she's in the Caribbean somewhere
Starting point is 00:08:51 which would be terrible. And now I'm wondering if she went overboard. I'm starting to think the family might be in denial. And this is not a funny thing, but I'm more laughing at you because I wish I could get into stuff like this. Like even the body and the snow. Have you, you haven't watched Amy Bradley is missing? No. And I couldn't. I watched one episode of Body in the Snow and I was like, I don't care.
Starting point is 00:09:17 I just stopped. I can't get into the murder mystery stuff. not just murder, but like just any of the... True crime. Yeah. I wish I could because everybody gets so invested in it and I want to be a part of it. Well, and I don't think you need to be. It's honestly, sometimes I'm like, why am I so invested in this?
Starting point is 00:09:32 And I'm not even as bad as some people, but... I know, but like, I don't know. I just feel like I have FOMO because all of you guys talk about true crime stuff and then I just like, it goes over my head completely. It's okay. Like the amounts of times in the day that I wonder about Amy Bradley and is too much. So all I can think of when you guys keep saying Amy Bradley is Bradley from the morning show, the character. Oh, yeah, Reese's character.
Starting point is 00:09:58 Because that's the only other Bradley that I have heard, or like Bradley Cooper. I don't know. I just have weird associations when people say different names, but those are what I keep thinking of. And it's not the same at all. What bird will you visit as your kids as after you pass, Jessica and Oregon? Oh, well, can I be an owl? I think you could be whatever you want to be. I think that's your choice.
Starting point is 00:10:20 I think I'd like to be a, a barred owl. A barred owl? Yeah, it's a specific kind. They're really cute to me. Because isn't there also a barn owl? So is that different than a bard owl? I don't know. I mean, I don't know if that's just an owl that lives in a barn.
Starting point is 00:10:35 I'm not able to Google that, but a barred owl. They're more of like the round face with the big round eyes and they're cute. Okay. Some owls are more intimidating and scary looking. I feel like barred owls are cute. I feel like you should be a white owl, like a snow owl. That would be a pretty one. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:53 Like the one in Harry Potter, Hedwig. No. Yeah. Headwig. Headwig. Maybe I'll take, I don't know. But I'm now. You know, would be a cute little chickity.
Starting point is 00:11:07 Chittity or an owl are very drastically different experiences, but that's okay. Oh, I guess I was really good. What about you, Morgan? You're like, Amy, I'm not obsessed with birds. No, but if I came back as an animal, I think I'd want to come back as a sloth. They seem to have really good lives. Yeah. Or a penguin.
Starting point is 00:11:23 Yeah. But, you know, honestly, animals all have issues. And that Wild Ones show that I told you guys all to watch has now, like, I don't want to be an animal. People are so mean to animals for no reason. So, no, I don't want to come back. People are also mean to humans for no reason. It's so true. All of it is bad.
Starting point is 00:11:42 Right. We got a comment of you both are beautiful and amazing women who bring a good vibe to the show and deserve nothing but happiness. It's very sweet. Okay, we talked about colleges, James from Virginia, not the same one. Same. We have two James and Virginia's, which feels crazy. Different one. And we talked about that in part one if you want to go listen to.
Starting point is 00:12:01 We had Jordan from Kyle, Texas, who just wanted to say we are awesome. And have the new boyfriends met the show yet. Neither one of ours have. You know, I'm going to keep them away as long as possible, honestly. Not necessarily from like Amy or Abby, but the guys, yeah. He has met lunchbox and scuba at passing events, but I haven't like specifically. Oh, okay, so lunchbox had to meet him. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:26 Okay. You know about the celebrity softball game. Oh, nice. And it was actually a fine interaction. I was a little concerned. But I looked at my boyfriend and said, you're going to see lunchbox tonight say nothing. Just talk nothing about us because I have no idea what you will use against. As show prep.
Starting point is 00:12:42 Yes. Uh-huh. You never know. So I think that's why we'd ever heard about it because my boyfriend was well trained in that moment. I've thought about having my boyfriend. you should just maybe one day just popping in our studio now is really difficult because of our new building it's just not easy to get up here so it has crossed my mind if if it were easier or one day we just figure it out and he just comes up and like can meet everybody and get it over we just haven't
Starting point is 00:13:08 had any outings or events or anything that make sense yeah i mean i don't know between my kids and him always having his kids even finding kately and i've talked about doing like a double date night or maybe we all could like just doing a date night or something. It's hard to coordinate. I don't feel like we barely go on dates. Everybody group date night. They'd be like absolutely not. You guys are on your own and then it end up being you and me. And then that's fine. At least they're going to be going to be. But that would be probably what happened. Okay, we're going to take a quick break. We'll be right back.
Starting point is 00:13:42 There's two golden rules that any man should live by. Rule one, never mess with a country girl. You play stupid games. You get stupid prizes. And Rule 2, never mess with her friends either. We always say that trust your girlfriends. I'm Anna Sinfield, and in this new season of the girlfriends... Oh my God, this is the same man. A group of women discover they've all dated the same prolific con artist. I felt like I got hit by a truck.
Starting point is 00:14:12 I thought, how could this happen to me? The cops didn't seem to care. So they take matters into their own hands. I said, oh, hell no. I vowed I will be his last target. He's going to get what he deserves. Listen to the girlfriends. Trust me, babe.
Starting point is 00:14:30 On the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. What's up, everyone? I'm Ago Wodam. My next guest, you know from Step Brothers Anchorman, Saturday Night Live, and the Big Money Players Network. It's Will Ferrell.
Starting point is 00:14:51 Woo, woo, woo, woo. My dad gave me the best advice. ever. I went and had lunch with him one day and I was like, and dad, I think I want to really give this a shot. I don't know what that means, but I just know the groundlings. I'm working my way up through and I know it's a place that come look for up and coming talent. He said, if it was based solely on talent, I wouldn't worry about you, which is really sweet. Yeah. He goes, but there's so much luck involved. And he's like, just give it a shot. He goes, but if you ever reach a point where you're banging your head against the wall and it doesn't feel fun anymore, it's okay to quit.
Starting point is 00:15:25 If you saw it written down, it would not be an inspiration. It would not be on a calendar of, you know, the cat. Just hang in there. Yeah, it would not be. Right, it wouldn't be that. There's a lot of luck. Listen to Thanks, Dad, on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. In 2023, former bachelor star Clayton Eckerd found himself at the center of a paternity scandal.
Starting point is 00:15:55 The family court hearings that followed revealed glaring. inconsistencies in her story. This began a years-long court battle to prove the truth. You doctored this particular test twice in so-ins, correct? I doctored the test ones. It took an army of internet detectives
Starting point is 00:16:11 to crack the case. I wanted people to be able to see what their tax dollars were being used for. Sunlight's the greatest disinfected. They would uncover a disturbing pattern. Two more men who'd been through the same thing.
Starting point is 00:16:23 Greg Lesbian and Michael Naranini. My mind was blown. I'm Stephanie Young. this is Love Trap. Laura, Scottsdale Police. As the season continues, Laura Owens finally faces consequences. Ladies and gentlemen, breaking news at Americopa County as Laura Owens has been indicted on fraud charges. This isn't over until justice is served in Arizona.
Starting point is 00:16:48 Listen to Love Trapped podcast on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. You can have opinions. You can have like a strong stance. And then there's your body having its own program. I'm Dr. Maya Shunker, a cognitive scientist and host of the podcast, a slight change of plans, a show about who we are and who we become when life makes other plans. We share stories and scientific insights to help us all better navigate these periods of turbulence and transformation. There is one finding that is consistent, and that is that,
Starting point is 00:17:26 that our resilience rests on our relationships. I wish that I hadn't resisted for so long the need to change. We have to be willing to live with a kind of uncertainty that none of us likes. Listen to a slight change of plans on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. On a recent episode of the podcast, Money and Wealth with John Ho'Brien, I sit down with Tiffany the Buccaneista Aliche to talk about what it really takes. to take control of your money. What would that look like in our families
Starting point is 00:18:03 if everyone was able to pass on wealth to the people when they're no longer here? We break down budgeting, financial discipline, and how to build real wealth, starting with the mindset shifts. Too many of us were never, ever taught. Financial education is not always about, like, I'm going to get rich.
Starting point is 00:18:21 That's great. It's about creating an atmosphere for you to be able to take care of yourself and leave a strong financial. legacy for your family. If you've ever felt you didn't get the memo on money, this conversation is for you to hear more. Listen to Money and Wealth with John O'Brien
Starting point is 00:18:40 from the Black Effect Network on the I'd Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Got another shout out from Rachel in Illinois. She just loves how much we were both radiating happiness. So happy for you both. Oh, thank you, Rachel. It's exciting. Diana wants to know, she's from Texas.
Starting point is 00:19:02 are you adjusting well on your new relationship? Yes. I think for some people, they still think of them as new within this year. Yeah. Especially if they're catching up on the podcast. It's definitely new. It's weird to think that at this point in my relationship with my, with Ben, my husband, first husband, but I don't have a second. My ex-husband, how do you say it?
Starting point is 00:19:26 My ex-husband. I've noticed for you is that it's very difficult to see how you, I don't have. identify him. It's changed very much over the past year. Because I don't, I don't know what the deal is with ex-husband. And maybe that's just something I need to work through. But it is what it is. He's my ex-husband. And at this point in our relationship, we were already married. And I'm still dating. Like, we're not even, and I think that it's okay that we're not. It's just Ben and I moved very quickly. And I think, yes, we're adjusting. There have, we finally got over. a lot of the growing pains of figuring out how to navigate his kids my kids his you know wife
Starting point is 00:20:09 passing away like there was a lot of that in the beginning and i say the beginning like the first five months like just different things would pop up like meeting her family or different events or what do i do here or your daughter is this and now we got over all those humps and we took our first blended family vacation oh i did have a question how that vacation went from a listener i am trying for your other name they didn't write it Mary, she would like to know how that vacation went. I exceeded all my expectations. I do think that I tried not to have any, though, because you just don't know.
Starting point is 00:20:42 So I did hope for the best, though, and I wanted certain memories, and we got those. And I'm very grateful that everybody got along and it was fine. I mean, I knew it wasn't going to be terrible, but I guess you just don't know if there's going to be awkward. Yeah. And it really wasn't. So that I was thankful for. I mean, any time I think you travel with anybody knew, you're like, okay, let's see how this is going to go. Yeah, very much so. And I loved your carousel posts of that experience that you guys had and what it was like and your thoughts going in. Oh, thank you. Being done after. That was very real and just life experience. Yeah. We both had a great time. I think we were able to relax. I was more nervous than he was. But I think
Starting point is 00:21:28 going into her like, how's it's it going to be? And then probably the second day, we took this boat out and we both were able to fall asleep and our kids were just playing. And I was like, okay, I think that, um, yeah, I posted that picture of us napping on the boat where we look legit both fell asleep. And his son, I thought it was so cute. His son took that picture. Oh. Yes. And he was like, hey, like later after we got up and we were at the boat, he's like, hey, I took some pictures on your phone. I think you're going to like them. Wink, wink. And I was like, oh, and he's, uh, 13. So you're like, what kind of pictures? And so. Well, I just thought, oh, that's so cute.
Starting point is 00:22:01 And he's the one that's bonded to me. I think we all get along, obviously, but I think him being the youngest and not having a mom, you know, the last almost six years. Like he's craving that mom. Like, so he'll do kind of more cute. Yes, yes, yes. That's a little bit different.
Starting point is 00:22:22 But I think that makes sense. Yeah. It's not that, you know, I don't know. I guess I feel bad saying that about. be other kids. But I think you get the idea. It just is different. He's craving a mom figure. And I thought that was really precious. So when I opened up the phone, I was like, oh, this actually is a really precious picture. Thank you. That's so cute. I love when the kids take cute pictures. And I'm like, I think you'll like this. Especially because he did that all in his own.
Starting point is 00:22:48 Like, we were asleep and he grabbed my phone and just took the pictures. That's so cute. Sammy from Virginia said Spicey Amy has been employee of the quarter level funny, five out of five roll time. Is it spicy Amy or what do they call me, pervy Amy? Yeah. I think both. I think it's a combination of the two. What is the weirdest animal you would want as a pet, Jessica, from San Diego? Like an otter.
Starting point is 00:23:14 Oh, otters are cute. But I need two so they can hold hands. Not hold your hand? Well, I like when they lay together in the water and hold hands. So you just want to watch them land the water. Yeah, and then some otters like take pebbles and keep them. They do. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:27 I know that's also a penguin thing. Okay. Well, that's cute to me. So I'll probably never have an otter. And there's lots of animals I'd like to have, but that, I mean. That came to your mind first. Yep. For whatever reason.
Starting point is 00:23:39 I think I'm sticking with my sloth. I think I'd want a sloth mostly because they just hang on you and you just have this cute little fuzzy thing that's climbing on you all the time. And they just smile so slow and it brings me joy. So I think I'm going with a sloth. So you want to be a sloth and you want a sloth. Yes. All the things.
Starting point is 00:23:55 Just, you know, insert me in sloth family. I will never have one though. I don't. Wow, the animals. I like to see him in the wild. That's my preference. Okay, does the boyfriend stay over and vice versa? How are you navigating that? And you can also play the fifth. That's two. No, we don't. Chantelle in Oklahoma. No, we don't have. I mean, no. He has his kids 24-7. I have mine every other week, but yeah. Doesn't, that doesn't work for us. Hasn't happen yet. And even on our vacation, they stayed in a hotel down the way and I got a condo for my kids. His son ended up coming down and staying in our condo with us because, Stevenson's room had like twin beds and so that was fun but I mean it's not like we were all I mean we we'd created space intentionally because we didn't want we didn't know like how all the kids everything was going to be so at least there's gap but then his daughter ended up coming down to arcando wanted to get ready with to share and her friend that were on the trip and the girls ended up hanging out so we yeah so even in that such no is that feel weird yeah are you like dang I really want to
Starting point is 00:24:56 sometime. No, I mean, I think we understand our situation, so it just is what it is. And we've taken trips and we have to be intentional about our time, but I think it's just that's just, it's what it is. Yeah. And obviously over the course
Starting point is 00:25:12 of time, that changes and if things get, you know, if you guys ever choose to remarry, your life changes in that drastic different direction, I think that also changes a lot of things. The younger son is always like, can you spend the night? You can sleep in my room and all go sleep my dad. Are you going to stay the night? Like, stay the night. You can have my room. And I'm like,
Starting point is 00:25:30 well, I got to go get the dog. And he's like, the dog and car can sleep in my bed. Oh, go get your dog. Um, he's so sweet. That's cute. Yeah. Some of his friends, parents that are divorced and dating, like they have live in girlfriends or, you know, so he's seen that. So he's sort of like, well, you know, his friends have that, but we're just not, we're doing it differently. It's also a slower burn, right? Like you're just figuring out what that potentially could look like later. Yeah. As of right now, it hasn't just gotten to that point yet.
Starting point is 00:26:04 Okay, good question. How do you, we'll end on this one. How do you show so much confidence, Chef Al and Tampa? Oh. Are we exuding confidence? Because I don't know that I have. Totally. Sometimes I have to just have.
Starting point is 00:26:24 have talks with myself. I think, you know, this airs different than the other part, but we talked about dopamine dressing. So I think sometimes I use clothes to feel more confident and then show confidence. And sometimes I, you know, have talks with myself of like, you can do this. Like you, like you were capable, believe in yourself just like I would try to pump up my daughter. I pump up myself. And I think sometimes it may come off that we're exuding more than we, we actually have. I mean, we just, any human, I think sometimes you think like,
Starting point is 00:26:58 how is that person so confident? But there may be some insecurities screaming in there that you have no idea about. Yes. I feel like that's also my life. I'm very much a fake it till you make it person when it comes to my confidence. I just like, if I fake it enough, I start to believe it. And then I just kind of
Starting point is 00:27:15 stay there instead of. Because if I like do let all my insecurities out and stuff, that's just the scared little girl who's working through a lot of stuff. So I really have to like put my brave face on and say, hey, we're going to fake this and you're going to start to feel good as soon as you, you know, faked it enough that you'll start to finally believe this is real and you can do this.
