Best Bits of the Week with Morgan.
Listener Q&A.
Here we are in part three.
It's time for listener Q&A.
We're going to start with some shoutouts.
Amy, you want to feel good real quick?
Sure.
I'll take it.
So happy for you and know you will have a blast in Charleston, Brit, and North Carolina.
You two are my fave that comes from Haley.
Just love you ladies from Nina in North Carolina.
Love and appreciate you both for being real.
And then loving these versions of both of you right now from Sarah.
Do you feel good?
Good little start.
Thank you guys.
We love little shout-ups.
You guys are awesome.
Okay, kicking things off.
What is your favorite part about your kids at this age stage from Bree in Virginia?
I probably their personalities taking shape.
Like I did a post around my birthday talking about that.
And I just pulled it up because Stevenson got me a card that said, you know you're getting old when your boobs hangs so low.
And then you open it up and it says that you can have a mammogram and a pedicure at the same time.
Happy birthday.
And I don't even think he knows what a mammogram or pedicure is, but he just died laughing at this card and was so proud of it.
And I just love that that's the card he picked out for me.
And then he gave it to me.
And then his note inside was really precious.
And he even said, he wrote, I hope you look at the front of the paper.
I don't miss like the first part of the joke.
And then Stasheera gave me a really sweet card.
And then on the inside, she put a bunch of coupons.
And she said, good for one dot, dot, dot.
Like I get to use them.
These are good for anything.
Whatever I decide.
And then she said, to use your coupons, you must let me stamp it.
And it just reminded me of her personality and how.
she's not going to let anybody take advantage of anything.
If I use one of those coupons, she's going to stamp it and that coupon is now null and void
is done. It's over. I cannot cash it in again. But she wrote the most thoughtful letter or any
word she's ever shared with me. It was written in that card. And I think now that she's 17,
she's able to express herself more and she has more vocabulary than she's ever had before.
And so I think that that's my favorite part is watching them grow up and their sense of
humors like Stevenson's is just amazing.
And then with Tashira, us just being able to talk about things more like friends in a way.
I'm still her mom.
But when she turns 18 and then in the next two years, we'll shift from some parenting stuff
and coaching vibes to more friend vibes.
And I'm excited for that because it's fun getting.
to know her in that way. Yeah. Oh, it's so crazy that they're growing up. It feels like just yesterday that
they were so young. Do Amy's kids still speak Creole? Claire in Nashville. Stevenson does not, and
Stasheera can a little bit, and she's taking French in school, so which Creole and French are similar.
So Stasheera, yes, Stevenson, no. All right. And I would say with Stichira, she can understand it more
than she can speak it at this point. But hopefully we'll get back. We've been in touch with her.
who has moved to America from Haiti and they have been communicating on WhatsApp and talking more
and she's even talked with her mom a little bit, but her mom is still in Haiti.
And I think we're going to try to meet up with her aunt in person at some point.
And hopefully just being around them more will bring some of it back.
Oh, I love that.
That's like, I haven't heard that update.
What does Stashear want to do for a living?
She's so business savvy, Laura from New Mexico.
Yeah.
Right now she is thinking about aesthetician school.
Oh, okay.
Didn't see that one coming.
Me neither.
But it's just something that she's been talking about casually.
And then I have some friends that do that.
And they're like, she can come shadow me anytime.
And she's like, yeah, when can I go?
I want to go.
And she texts them and ask them questions.
And she's asked them what schools they've gone to and what they recommend.
And yeah, so we'll see what happens.
Dang.
Yeah, I was not.
I was like prepared for her to be a CEO or something.
Really like on.
Well, she wants to own her own business.
So yes.
And she gets both.
Yeah.
She has said, well, I'll work for myself.
And then I'll have some people maybe that work under me.
And so if I ever want to go on vacation or leave town, they can still continue to take care of people's faces.
And I'll go on a trip.
I love this for her.
She has it all figured out.
I need to be more like Zosher, I feel like in my life.
Did your cousin know or warn you about the divorce before it happened, Don, in Missouri?
Gosh, this would be going way back, but yes, she did have inkling and inkling a feeling,
a knowing of it of sorts.
And no, she did not come out and tell me because that's not how she operates.
And I do think she was encouraging me and guiding me to get my affairs in order, to get my ducks in a row.
I was not involved in our finances at all.
I've shared a lot about this.
that was by my choice when we first got married 17 years ago.
I didn't want anything to do with paying bills or opening bills or anything like that.
So it just money freaked me out.
I didn't like looking at our bank account.
I didn't know anything.
So at the time that I knew maybe a divorce was on the horizon, actually it wasn't until,
because I didn't take my cousin's advice.
So it wasn't until the divorce was happening that I really knew how to log in and look at things.
And it was so overwhelming.
But I am a story of hope and encouragement.
It is possible.
And you can learn and you can do it without getting freaked out.
Because I used to just get like a lump in my throat.
Like I didn't, it just feelings in my body.
I didn't like the way I felt when I had to deal with finances.
I just like didn't trust myself or something.
And she said at one point, I remember I was pacing around my room on the phone talking to her.
And she said, Amy.
at this point I did not think I was getting a divorce at all whatsoever. It was still not an option. She said,
you need to get involved in your finances. And I was like, where is this coming from? That's not even
what I'm talking to you about. And she's like, do it now. It will be empowering. And I was thinking,
empowering. What is she even talking about? And I got to tell you, it is. It is so empowering to know
what's coming in and what's going out. And it's not about the amount. It's just about knowing and having
control. And that's one of the first things she said to me. And I know it's because she was like,
something's about to happen and you're about to get a reality check and you need to have your stuff
in order. Oh, that's crazy. Yeah. So next time when somebody gets an inkling with you, maybe just,
you know, give it a second thought. Especially if they're your cousin and they claim to be a psychic.
Just, you know. Very important detail there. Have you learned anything new about yourself since
dating someone since divorce, Amy and Mississippi? Yeah, I have learned that
our nervous systems are fascinating and they can change, which we know that. But to experience it is really awesome. And I've experienced it. Like now I know what it's like. And this has nothing to do with my relationship with Ben. This is my own nervous system and things I probably even brought into our marriage. So I was part of the problem. Ben was part of the problem. There's nothing against Ben. But how I was living and operating.
I don't have that in this relationship. And it is, it feels calm and secure and I'm not looking for chaos. And I,
I chased chaos for a while because chaos is what I was used to. So my nervous system was like,
wait a second. And there's no chaos. This is boring. And so I have learned, uh,
what that feels like to make that shift. And I think that that would happen. That shift had happened
because of the work I was doing without this relationship,
but this relationship is showing me.
What it's like to have what my new baseline is
and how great it is to sort of stay there
and not have to like do this dance to go chase like a high.
Yeah, and it's because it's also testing your new baseline.
You would have never been able to test it until you entered into a new relationship.
Yeah, or unless Ben and I did a complete, which we, you know,
that could have been possible.
but that just wasn't what was in store for us.
But I do think that a transformation like that could happen for a couple.
So I don't want people to give up because you can find a new baseline in your current relationship.
But it takes probably both people.
Definitely both.
I don't think that can be a one-sided journey.
Okay, we're going to take a quick break.
We'll be right back.
You can have opinions.
You can have like a strong stance.
And then there's your body having its own.
own program. I'm Dr. Maya Shunker, a cognitive scientist and hosts of the podcast, a slight
change of plans, a show about who we are and who we become when life makes other plans. We share
stories and scientific insights to help us all better navigate these periods of turbulence and
transformation. There is one finding that is consistent, and that is that our resilience
rests on our relationships. I wish that I hadn't resisted for so long. The needs to
to change. We have to be willing to live with a kind of uncertainty that none of us likes.
Listen to a slight change of plans on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your
podcasts. When you listen to podcasts about AI and tech and the future of humanity, the hosts always
act like they know what they're talking about and they are experts at everything. Here, the Nick Dick and
Poll show, we're not afraid to make mistakes. What Coogler did that I think was so unique.
He's the writer-director.
Who do you think he is?
I don't know.
You mean, like, the president?
You think it goes to the president?
You think Canada has a president.
You think China has a president?
Los Wau-Rouzette.
God, I love that thing.
I use it all the time.
I wrap it in a blanket and sing to it at night.
It's like the old Polish saying,
not my monkeys, not my circus.
Yep.
It was a good one.
I like that saying.
It is an actual Polish saying.
Yeah.
It is an actual poem.
Better version of Play Stupid Games,
win Stupid Prize.
Yes. Which, by the way, wasn't Taylor Swift, who said that for the first time. I actually, I thought it was. I got that wrong.
Listen to the Nick, Dick, and Paul show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

If you're watching the latest season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta,
you already know there's a lot to break down.
Gorsha accusing Kelly of sleeping with a merry man.
They hold and Kay Michelle back from fighting Drew.
Pinky has financial issues.
I like the bougie style of Housewives show.
I think it looks like it's going to be interesting.
On the podcast, Reality with the King,
I, Carlos King, recap the biggest moments
from your favorite reality shows,
including the Real Housewives franchise,
the drama, the alliances,
and the team everybody's talking about.
As an executive producer in reality television,
I'm not just watching it.
I understand the game.
As somebody who creates shows,
I'll even say this.
At the end of the day, when people are at home, they want entertainment.
To hear this and more, listen to Reality with the King on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
On a recent episode of the podcast Money and Wealth with John Hobriant, I sit down with Tiffany the budgetista Aliche to talk about what it really takes to take control of your money.
What would that look like in our families if everyone was able to pass on wealth to the people when they're no longer.
here. We break down budgeting, financial discipline, and how to build real wealth, starting with the
mindset shifts. Too many of us were never, ever taught. Financial education is not always about,
like, I'm going to get rich. That's great. It's about creating an atmosphere for you to be able to
take care of yourself and leave a strong financial legacy for your family. If you've ever felt
you didn't get the memo on money, this conversation is for you to hear.
more. Listen to Money and Wealth with John O'Brien from the Black Effect Network on the
I'd Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Do you have lots of birds at
your new home, fellow bird guardian and angel believer, Ashley from Louisiana? Yes, I've got
my Cardinals and my Blue Jays and my little chickadees. And I feel like there was some Cardinal
babies bouncing around my yard the other day, so much so that I went to
Google what does a cardinal baby look like because they didn't have the bright orange beaks.
But they were red?
No, they were sort of like a grayish brownish.
Okay.
But the babies, they could look.
They evolve into what they're supposed to be.
So I didn't know.
But there was a brown cardinal and a red cardinal, which the brown is the female and the red is male.
So I was like, is that the mom and the dad?
And these are baby cardinals.
And this is a sign that I'm going to have a baby?
This is a new sign. I didn't know about this sign yet. But then I was like, also is that, I'm like, are my eyes working? Because that could just be like another baby bird or a little tiny chickadee. So I went to Google. What does a baby car to look like? And I don't know. These are pretty close. So I've been looking for a little nest to see if they have a home nearby. But I haven't found it. But the bright orange beak develops over time. They are not born with it.
Interesting.
FYI.
I did not know that.
Yeah, me neither.
That makes sense too.
I wonder with like eagle babies if they're born with their yellow beaks.
I would think not.
I think it's probably the same.
I don't know.
But I think if that's how the cardinal, once it matures it comes about,
same thing might be with the eagle.
All right.
How excited are you about the cruise?
I'm pumped.
Morgan, are you going?
Also, Leah, in Pennsylvania.
Yeah, are you going?
At this moment, I don't think so.
Oh.
Hopefully that changes over time.
Yes, I'm excited.
I mean, we've never done anything like this. So I'm always game for doing something new. And then
traveling more is on my list. So this helps me a lot. Because it's like I get to travel for work.
So boom, boom. Check, check. Yeah. Will each of you share your favorite and least favorite bit of all
time? Sean from Nevada. Love you guys. If you need a second, I can I can go. Oh, I already know my
least favorite bit as of the time it involves me.
It's the time I had to take the hottest shot in the world.
Oh, yeah.
I thought I was going to die.
Not joking.
So.
That was a really bad one.
I mean, but that's just a one-time bit.
I guess if there's, like, is there something we do over and over that I don't really like?
I mean, the wheel in general is just always a little stressful.
Heartbeat goes up real fast when that thing comes out.
Except for lately we've been doing the, you get to talk about whatever you want for a minute.
So the selfish wheel is kind of awesome.
Has landed on me yet.
It's landed on lunch, like, free.
times. Yeah. I'm like, really? So that's probably, I don't know, that's my least favorite,
the shot. And then I, I don't know, I'm not a big fan of, um, what's the one we do with the,
we each pick three and then people vote. Oh, the draft. Yeah. You know like the draft? I don't,
it's not my favorite. I'm like, I'm kind of bored. Okay. And then I get nervous like,
oh, because I think I stress of what people are going to vote for. And then I'm like, okay, this is just,
It's a silly game. Who cares? Relax. But that's not my favorite. What's your favorite? I used to love
name that tune. I wish we could play that more. Name that tune. It was so fun. Gosh, my favorite is just
when we are all just like talking, not doing a bit. Just kind of fun. We're just free flowing and
just conversation going naturally in different directions. Yeah, which is just I get hard to do on the radio
show. So probably the way we're doing the new podcast. I like that.
Okay. Yeah, my least favorite was the time that I had to sing karaoke on the air. Not blind karaoke. It was when my mother decided to tell Eddie in lunchbox about the fact I wanted to be a singer. And then I had to basically audition for the show. And it was, I cried before and after. Not like out of anything bad that happened, but just out of like so much that I just did not want to experience again in my life. So that one was bad. And it still lives on YouTube to this day.
Oh, yeah. It's the worst. Yeah. It goes back.
just any of our stuff that lives on forever.
It's like, oh, cringe.
Yes, it's all there.
And then favorite?
I always love when we do challenges.
I feel like the challenges are just so much fun.
Whether we're getting out of the studio or we're in studio doing something,
I just love when we're like having a challenge against each other.
Like the time Lunchbox and I tried to change a tire faster than each other.
Or like when we've gone to basketball courts and done shooting challenges or the football.
Which I'm still supposed to do one.
Yeah, those are fun. I love, it's because I love to field trips going up. I cannot talk today. It's because I loved field trips growing up. And I feel like those are field trips to me. Like we get a day out of the studio. So, fun field trips. Okay. And last one. What would be your perfect idea for a company retreat? Chris and Texas.
Okay. I already have this planned out in my mind. I think about it all the time. But I think that if we're taking a full-blown retreat. Yeah, this is totally up to you. Chris and Texas.
This would like you to plan it.
Right.
Well, we're going to go.
First of all, we're going to stay somewhere.
And it's going to be like a weekend retreat.
And when we get there, we get to like have a nice dinner and some fun games.
And then maybe there's a campfire with some smoors.
And then we just really, it's been a long week.
So we're just going to do that.
And then we'll get some good sleep.
And then in the morning, we wake up.
And we all do like a morning hike together, maybe a meditation.
And then we have a leader.
We have somebody there that's like a,
advise people on how to build better bonds and have a stronger relationship and how to work
through things like some corporate therapist of sorts and they guide us through activities that will
help us laugh together and cry together and have fun together and yeah I guess I don't know
exactly what those activities are because I'm not the expert but that's where we would be we would be
with the expert. And then we'd probably break for lunch and we'd have that. And then we'd go do
some activity together, maybe play a sport like a game of something. And then we relax with the sound bath
and maybe a workout or maybe another meditation. I like that this is like kind of intertwined to like a
wellness retreat. Yeah, that's what it would be. It would be we're taking care of ourselves.
Because doing some of that hard work like the laughter and the crying and the things that get you there,
that's exhausting.
So you've got to do the other things to take care of yourself.
And then we're nourished with amazing food.
And yeah, I think the whole thing.
Yeah, massages.
Like this would be great.
And Bobby's paying for it.
So that's no problem.
It works out.
Yeah.
So thank you, Bobby.
But yes, I could plan a retreat.
I just am not.
I don't know what activities we need exactly.
But I know that we could go do something amazing.
And we could do certain.
We'll call them games, but they would be interactive therapy.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
I still think you should keep trying to make this happen because think about all the content that also comes from this.
Let's call it.
It's actually experiential therapy.
Okay.
You know, you're using your body, you're getting up, you're interacting.
Yeah.
I love this.
Yes.
I'm on board.
Bonding.
Let's go.
Team bonding.
Maybe we do what ropes core stuff, the trust fall.
The trust fall.
Maybe we can start with the trust fall in studio.
Maybe that's how we start to get them into that direction.
Okay, Amy, thanks for coming on.
Thanks for joining me.
A lot of the people know where they can hear you, find you all that good stuff.
At Radio Amy.

And I know that your story is going to help multiple people.
But even if it's just one.
