Who knows? And this week, I'm bringing on Scoobo Steve and Lunchbox. And let's just say, lunchbox is going to be very excited about where he's at in the lineup this week. All right, I have Scoobo Steve in here with us because this week we talked about on this show that he found two dead people's remains

at his home that he just moved into about a year ago. So, hey, scuba, how are you? I'm doing great. We got a lot to talk about here and a lot to unpack. So briefly, like, recap what happened? So in my garage, I've got these cabinets. And so the previous owners have almost like a mini kitchen set up in the garage because they had a big family.

And their whole thinking was during holidays, like Thanksgiving, Christmas, they cook in the kitchen, but then the extra stuff, because everyone has lots of different dishes and things. And people bring over dishes, they can cook in the kitchen and the garage. Yes. Great idea, by the way. It's amazing, yeah. And some things we're going to keep in the house, and things we're going to remove it,

and we're eventually going to remove those items because it kind of takes up space in the garage. But along with that stove, there's cabinets and there's drawers, almost like a little mini kitchen. And I haven't gotten to all those cabinets and drawers because we just moved in a year ago. Pandemic hit. My wife got pregnant.

You had a baby. Exactly, yeah. A lot of things going on. So I just haven't really gotten to everything we want to get to in this new house. We just kind of moved in and just we live in it now. And so Christmas lights I was breaking them down, putting them away And I was like, well I could use these cabinets

To store Christmas lights It's a great place to put them Might as well utilize them while we have it So I'm opening drawers, putting things away Getting to certain cabinets And then I get to this one bottom cabinet Open the door And I see these two little

Like cylindrical black boxes And I was like What's this? And so my first thing is I want to open it up So I open it up And it looks like a bag of sand And then I open the next one up and it looks like a bag of sand.

And I'm thinking, okay, why the hell would the previous owner keep bags of sand in this black box? But then I'm also thinking, hey, my son has a sandbox in the backyard, and he's been playing in it, and it's kind of losing a little bit of sand because he throws sand everywhere. Okay, but like black sand. You didn't it for a moment, like, think sand isn't normally black? Well, no, it's a black box, but the sand, the stuff inside, which was human remains, is the color of sand. It's, so it wasn't dark. It wasn't a weird shade.

I thought ashes were like gray. That's what I would think. Okay, so it did look like legitimate sand. Yeah, it was like sand and like pieces of rocks. And like almost like almost, I'd say the best way to describe it would be sand slash like cat litter. Like that kind of texture. I mean, I've never touched human remains like cremated. So like I guess this is why I don't know.

Okay. Nor have I until this past week. Yes. Okay, so you find this and you touch it obviously and then you realize like these are dead people. Yes. Okay. And you got the things back there out of your house. But you had mentioned something on the show that I want to really talk about.

You had said that you have this kind of like six cents. Yeah, unfortunately, yes. Okay. Let's explore that. Okay. Tell me about the six cents that you have. Is that what it's called the sixth sense? I think it's what is the six cents, like the movie.

Yeah. Yeah. That's all I can think in my head. Yeah. I've never seen anything. For me, it's just feelings. And so what I've heard from different people is that there's different levels. and I guess when you get to a certain point in your life,

you either can invite the levels to expand. So for me, it's just feeling. But if you accept it, feeling can turn into visuals. And I've never wanted to accept it because I don't want to visually see anything. Okay, so when you feel something, give me an example. So like, for example, when I was living in my apartment in San Francisco, I would always feel this rush.

Like whenever I would not say, knowledge, but I would just kind of in my head, I'd go, I'd have a feeling that something is around. I go, oh, God, it must be a spirit or a ghost or something. And when I say that internally, not outside, not allowed, I'm literally just thinking it in that moment when I'm feeling something, then my whole body just completely just, I feel shivers going, they say shivers down your spine. That's what I feel. I feel this like prickliness up my back into my shoulders and into my head.

I just got the chills like even thinking about the idea that that's happening. Yeah. Okay. And then it gets really cold. Yeah. Okay, so you get this feeling, but why have you not wanted to accept it? I just don't know if I can visually handle it. Like, that's the thing.

The visual part is what scares me because I just, I don't, because if I, I feel like if I open this, you're opening the door for it to be forever. And then I'm just going to always be seeing these things. And it may not be a bad experience, but I just don't know if I'm ready for it. Do you think maybe like when you get older and maybe like you're retired or something, you're just kind of bored at the house? A new hobby? You know what? I accept it.

Do you think that could happen in your life? I think so as I get down the road, yes. I also worry about because I have children that if any of this will attach to my kids because I hear horror stories. Like my wife, she had a really good friend in high school where they had this ghost. His name was Timmy or Frank or something. And he was in her friend's house. And everyone would always hear him like creeping through and walking and they'd hear

door slam and weird things throughout the night. And then one day somebody came into our house who was similar. to me, but on a level where they were up accepting of these things. And then one day, Timmy was gone. And then Timmy attached on to her and then went to her house. And then so he left this girl's house. No longer was there ever again. They never saw heard, felt creaks, nothing. And it was all this girl's house now. So that's my biggest fear is attaching on and being a part of somebody else. Well, and you can't dictate what the spirits you'd find, right? Like, because they could be a really bad person or a really good person. Like, you don't know. You're. You're.

you're just accepting and it's like they're all welcome. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. I imagine. But I imagine also it's your energy and your and your vibe would accept whatever kind of a spirit. Because I feel like I've never really had anything super negative except for the one time where I was telling that story a while back about in San Francisco where I had that spirit take over me and I cried. Yes. And then basically, then it left my apartment.

Like right now I feel something right here on the back of my neck when I talk about it. I don't know. This is an old building. So who knows. I know. I mean, hey, like people find stuff all the time. That's just so crazy to me that like you have this. like gift and you don't hear a lot of people that have it. Yeah. And the ones that do do tend to

like use it in their professions, right? Like they go on to be whether it's like future tellers. What's that the fortune tellers like the little tarot cards and all that. Yeah. They tend to take that like talent and keep moving on. So it's crazy to think you have it and it's just kind of sitting there like either waiting to be accepted or like totally discarded. Could you ever get rid of it? I don't know. I don't think I can. I think once you, Clairvoyant is the word. I think we're looking for too because there are some people who who, I think it's just with you forever. I think it's just who you are as a person and our soul. Wait, okay. So, and you've talked about your parents to a little bit complicated situation.

Yeah. Do you know enough about them to know that maybe if one of them had it and it did get past to you and that's how this happened to you? I mean, my mom's side definitely know and I know for sure nothing there. They're like strictly Roman Catholic. They just follow the book. They're nothing like that. My dad, though, who I don't know much about could be some sort of, because he was Native American. So I don't know if there's some sort of attachment because Native Americans' rituals and all kinds of things. They tend to be really in touch with spirits and stuff from what I learned.

I'm not well versed in that enough to say, but I would say that they are well versed in spirits and they do a lot of rituals. And now living in Tennessee, Trail of Tears and all those things. Oh, yeah. I was worried am I going to start feeling more living here? Oh, yeah. Because we live all on the trail of tears. And I was nervous. And I was like, there's a lot of sadness with that.

And me being part Native American, how is that going to affect me? I haven't felt anything too hardcore living here in Tennessee yet. But it could be my father's side. It really could be. And I'll never know because he's passed. And then his side of the family has kind of just shunned us. So I really don't, I don't know. But maybe if I open up my mind to this, maybe somebody out there will tell me.

Somebody comes in like, here's your story. I'm going to let you know what happens. And that'd be worth it. I would actually be okay with that. I would accept that for someone to come to me and they just sit here right here in this chair and they look at me and they're like, hey, look, here's your backstory. This is why you the way you are. And I'd be like, okay, cool. All right, bye.

Now I know. And I don't want to see anyone else. That is my one time thing. Oh my God. This is so crazy. Yeah. Wow. Well, I'm just picturing you now, like now in retirement sitting here in a chair.

And one day you're like, hmm. Yeah. accept this and then it just like bombards you and you have just all the energy of all the spirits coming on it's one on picturing yeah and i think that it could happen because i was talking to a guy when i was working on a radio show back in california and the host that show had he was really big into the whole spiritual world we'd always have this guy on named gary spivey and he would always talk to callers and he was usually right on a lot of those things but he brought in another guy that was legit never came on air so that's why i kind was like okay this guy may be real and he

told me all these things about me that i never told him never told anybody and he was just throwing things at me. Things about me, but also things about my wife's father who had passed away. Wow. But I didn't realize what he was talking about until I told her.

But the one thing that he told me that always sticks with me, he's like, you have this light above your head and he's like, there's this super bright, bright white light. It's almost blinding. And he's like, and he goes, I think that may be something

that you will figure out later in life, but it may be something that attracts things to you. It could be people in this life, people in the past life, different vibrations. it's like this bright light has some sort of meaning that you'll figure out one day. Wow. And I don't know what that is.

What? What? Yeah. And he's like, you know, you never know what kind of vibrations. I'm like, maybe aliens? That'd be really cool. That would be amazing. Who were on vibrations and wavelengths that we can't comprehend.

Now, that would be cool. And I know it's hard to comprehend and understand that. But they're out there. They are. I don't care who you are and what you think. If you think we're the only living creatures in this entire galaxy and galaxy of galaxies, you're out of your mind. See, now I really want you to accept it so we can find out if there is aliens and you

could talk to them first because that I'm here for like all about. Oh my gosh. This is so fun. Okay, well, Scoop is Steve. Thanks for joining and sharing a little bit more of your story and all the vibes and crazy things happening in your life. It's so cool. What's that behind you?

I'm just kidding. I know. I have chills. I've had like chills like four different times to that and I don't know what that means and I'm not going to read into it. We're just going to let it exist. I hope you all enjoyed that as much as I did, though. But here's a segment with Scoobo Steve, and he talks about finding the two dead people at his new house.

Number seven. Well, Scoobie Steve found two dead people in his house. What? Have you guys heard of this? No. What? Like real? Dead people?

Scoob, Steve, our executive producer, talk the show through what happened. So I had this eerie feeling in my garage since I moved in about a year ago because I can sense the paranormal activity a little bit. Okay. He has said this before. Once a ghost like wrapped him up and like made him cry In his car Yeah And the shower

Right Yeah yeah okay Go ahead So I had that feeling And it had been lingering for a solid year Well the other day I was put away my Christmas lights And I have these cabinets Inside the garage where I store the lights

And I'm going through each of the drawers Putting stuff away I go to a drawer that I haven't been to before I open it up And I see these two black boxes I open them up And there's like sand inside of it I'm like who would

Why would the previous owners leave sandboxes, whatever, open it up, play around a little bit. I look on the inside, and it says somebody's full name and the date they're born, the date they died. The other one, same one,

as their name, the date they're born, they died. So I was fiddling with somebody's dead body. Well, dead ashes, not body. Yes, yes, yes. I said dead people,

not body. Correct, yeah, ashes. Still very creepy and very scary. And I'm thinking myself, who the hell is behind these people in my garage? Who I called the previous owner? It turns out it's the father

and the mother-in-law of the previous owner. And he was like, thank you for finding those. We've been looking for them for the entire year. Don't you go there first? We're like, oh, honey, we're moving. What do we get first? Mom and dad, maybe. So did you get it back to them? Yeah, I left it on the outside of the garage and told him to come by and pick it up. I don't want to see them or the bodies ever again. You had your fingers in the ashes? They're not bodies. They're not bodies. I thought it was, I thought it was, yeah, sorry, I keep saying bodies because I was just so freaked out. But I thought it was sand because my son needs sand in a sandbox. I figured, oh, there's a couple extra

boxes of sand. I could throw it in the sandbox and, you know, but thank God I didn't do that. And you've been feeling like there's something happening in that garage? Yeah, I always have this like cold brush on my back every time I walk into the garage. And I was wondering what it was. And obviously now I know it. And even in the entrance into the garage, my son wouldn't go anywhere near it. He kept pointing up in the sky near the door. And I'm thinking, what's he pointing at?

And now I know it's probably those people floating around. Do you think that you have a gift? I wouldn't consider it a gift. That's something that I would consider it something that I don't want. So I tried to avoid it because I don't want. wanted. So I'm not accepting of this gift. Would you ever take a minute and sit and try to talk with spirits and see if you could actually reach out to them? No, I like the Ouija board and all that as a kid. We'd play it and it would

always freak me out. I don't want to be involved with it. So I pass. If you're listening, I pass. What was that noise? Lunchbox is trying to do a chicken ice. It's not, dude, you're talking about people like from the previous life. I don't want to mess with that. And I don't want to invite it in my home. I have kids now. Bad scuba. It's the best bits of the week with Morgan number two. Another week meant we had so many more guests on the show. This week we had Matt Stell in.

Not only did he perform his two number one hits, he also performed a brand new song. This one was fun because Matt Stell is relatively new to the country music world and we heard all about how he got started. Plus, he shared a really fun story of a fan interaction that happened at his very last concert. before the pandemic hit. So listen back to the interview, plus the performance.

It's all great. You're going to love it. Number six, the Friday morning conversation with Matt Steele. Matt, how are you? I'm doing great. How are you this morning? Let me recognize Matt for something here. And the last time Matt was on, Amy, you weren't here.

Nope. Yeah. It was my first time seeing you, I mean, other than, like, I didn't realize how tall you were. So when you were in the green room, I mean, I've heard Bobby talk about how you play basketball and you're tall. But, I mean, you're tall. Like, when I looked at him back in the room, I'm like, oh, is that? Yeah, I mean, that might be, that's, like, the tallest person I know.

Well, and I'd like to recognize Matt because he did play college basketball, but then he came over to the house and played ball, and I beat him. Oh. And so I just like to say that out loud. Do you remember that? That's a good day, wasn't it? Yeah, that was a great day. Thank you.

Anyway. I noticed that on your arm, you have a bunch of things tattooed that really mean a lot to you. You might ought to think about getting that day tattooed. Yeah, I think so. that arm as well. It's a real achievement day for me. It was a new court. I get it.

You come over, you're intimidated by my prowess. You won fair and square. And it wasn't straight at basketball. Right. We play knockout where you shoot and have to get the rebound, that kind of thing. Right. He wasn't guarding you.

He's lucky he wasn't guarded me. Okay. Hey, I saw that you were picked for the new face as a country show. Yeah. That's a big deal in country music. Man, it was really, really cool. You know, I was actually at that show. last year and watching my buddy Jimmy play up there and a bunch of other folks.

And man, it's really special. And yeah, man, country radio has meant everything to me. So that's really excited, really looking forward to that. How long are your jeans? What size is that? Probably like a, I'm going to say like a 36-ish inseam. Can you go into a store and buy jeans? Not typically.

It depends now because like kind of depending on the pant. You know, high waters are kind of cool in some respects, which would have been really nice when I was in, like, high school or junior high. I would have a love for it to be cool back then. But I have a hard time getting shoes and jeans off the shelf, yeah. Oh, what size is your foot? Okay. All right. Now we've gone into a whole new area.

Like a 14. See, it's a special order. That's crazy. You have to shop at big and tall? Yeah, the thing about big and tall is they're much more big than they are tall in those stores. Like the section for like, you know, tall folks is pretty small. But yeah, you know, you can find them on the internet. That's another great thing about now as you can find it.

I don't want to hit this too much about him being tall. But Amy did bring it up. I used to have a Jeep, okay? And I would drive the Jeep and people would always wave if they had a Jeep. It's the Jeep wave. Did tall people do that with like fist bumps? If you see somebody else really tall in the mall, are you like, hey, bud, I got you.

And we can't even see because it's above our heads. Correct. Like we probably don't, it's not even in our line of sight. Yeah, it's sort of like an eye contact thing. I noticed that actually when we, the last show we played before things shut down was in New York. And there was a dude standing, he was singing every word to the songs, but he was like head and shoulders above everybody tall. And I watched him being really, really cognizant of that. Because when I'm at shows, like I have to stand kind of in the back or against the wall or else I'm going to ruin somebody's night, you know, for a show.

So this dude, I noticed he was doing that, and I just sent him a couple beers out to the, to the crowd, and just was like, hey, man, I appreciate what you're doing. I know you're singing every word, but I appreciate you not, you know, ruining everybody's time by being yourself up here. Matt Stel is here. Let's go back to the first one, prayed for you. I'm going to have you play this a little bit, but let me say a little bit about this song. Whenever it was first played for me, you were basically an independent artist. It wasn't like many of the success stories in Nashville, a big label goes out, finds somebody, grooms them, has them ready,

launches this big campaign. That didn't happen with you. You were this guy that I knew from Arkansas, and first I'm like, oh, cool on from Arkansas. I'm going to pay attention to this guy a little more. Who was on this, like, how would you describe the kind of deal you were on? Like a distribution deal? Honestly, I had a publishing deal.

I just signed a publishing deal of my publisher, and I made an EP. So you were just writing songs, getting paid to write songs. getting paid to write songs. And, you know, the hope for me was I wanted to write songs for, you know, big artists and, and just make my little, my little niche records. And we put out that EP, and it just so happened to have, you know, prayed for you on it. And, man, we put it out into the world, and it, it's, people started listening to it. And it, you know, it's like, it's really special, especially you being a songwriter to watch a song, kind of do a lot of that heavy lifting. And then of course, what ends up happening is then you get people behind you

that really believe in what it is. And I've got a great team that does that too and kind of push it across the finish line. But when we started out, yeah, it was just a song and a guitar and a guy that can't buy jeans in a store. Right. And that's what I wanted to recognize is that it's not the story of, you know, a lot of these artists who are good. And somebody says, you're the one. You had to do this yourself. I did it for myself for a long time. And then I, you know, really when it started to take off was when I partnered up with my All right, Mr. Humble, I'm tired of, let's just play

the dang song. All right, I'm just telling you there's something special with this Matt Stel guy. I'd like to think one to me. All right, let's play a little bit of, how about verse and chorus that prayed for you? I never been one to ask for hell but need a mountain mood to move it myself.

I ain't the church pure regular twice on Sunday quote you the scripture kind. I'm far from a preacher, but I'm a believer. Because every single day before I knew your name, I couldn't see your face, but I prayed for you. Every heartbreak trail went on home fell on a highway to hell. I prayed for you.

I kept my faint like an old King James said I'm supposed to. It's hard to imagine bigger than I could fathom, but didn't know you from that all. but I pray it for you. Nice. Matt Stelle live. Look at this guys. Sound good.

I know you moved to town to write songs, but I know you were hustling, playing shows as an artist, you know, in Arkansas and then around, you know, kind of the southeast. Why move here to just write songs if the goal was to be an artist? Well, I kind of was trying to have my cake

and eat it too. You know, I always knew that I was going to make records regardless of anybody cared about them or not. You know, I just, I love that. But I thought I would just kind of do that, follow my muse. and I would have sort of that world and then a lot of my heroes kind of did that

and do that. Like, Darrell Scott's a songwriter that I love who I actually just got to meet last week. But, you know, he's got this whole life and career of like him doing an artist thing and then he's written these, you know, huge songs and stuff like that. And that was always appealing to me.

And that's really what I went in thinking and that was, you know, that was like the goal. And I had no idea that, you know, it's so cliche, but one song could just change your life. and that song changed my life almost overnight. And Matt is no dumb-dum. You might look at him and go, what a dumb-dum.

I'm telling you right now, Matt Stell is no dumb-dum. Oh, I didn't look at him and think that. Oh, okay. Well, good. So let's talk about this, and then we're going to come back and play another number one for us. But so you graduate high school. Where?

Nemo Vista High School, Conway County, Arkansas. Pretty proud of that. Yeah. Yeah, only wet county around. Nice. People had to drive to your county to get alcohol. That's right. That's right. My county was dry down in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. We had to drive to Garland County. I say we, I mostly did the driving because I didn't drink. But we had to

drive 40 minutes to get beer because it was a dry county. Yeah. There's some counties around us now that are wet, but we were the wet county for a lot of that part of the state. So we're really proud of that. You go to college? Where? I went to Drury University. Play basketball there? A hoop there at that jury. Yep. Did you graduate? I did graduate. All right. After that, what happened? With school?

Yeah, with school, I went to Arkansas to get a master's degree while I was learning how to play guitar. Did you get that? I did. I mean, this is my point. One, he's way too humble and two, he's got a freaking master's degree up here. Masters in? Communication. Masters is a master's.

So did you want to do something in communication or really just? Really, no. I mean, yes. I mean, I guess you are. I thought for a, kind of. But I thought for a minute, I was really doing rhetorical studies, more like, less like mass comm type stuff for inside baseball there. But I thought I was going to maybe go into academia. I thought I would maybe get a degree in cultural studies or American studies and write and teach and do those kinds of things.

But I spent enough time around like academic departments. And I was at that point getting a little bit busy playing music. And I was like, eh, I'll come back to that maybe later. I deem him the smartest man in country music. Okay. That is not the case. That's what I'm saying. I'm leaving it here.

And we're going to come back. Matt Stell is here. He's going to play another number one hit that you may know. And for the first time, I believe you're going to play a song. That's right. You've never played it. Never played it. You're not even going to write it until we go away for a break.

And then you're going to write it and then come back and play it. Exactly, yeah. That's how smart this guy is. It's amazing. Amy doesn't know if I'm kidding or not. No, I mean, I can tell that he's super smart. I'm smart in the way that a dog that can, like, fetch is smart. Like, on command, I'm pretty consistent, you know.

There he is. Matt Stel. At Matt Stel music. So prayed for you goes number one, big hit. You got to put out that second song and you're like, oh boy, am I going to be a one hit wonder? That's got to be the question. Well, yes and no, you know, that was a question sort of looking back. But at that point, as we talked about before, all of that pray for you stuff kind of happened sort of out of nowhere. So I didn't have any expectations. I just kind of, I felt like I was playing with house money at that point. I was like, well, you know, I was writing songs that I thought were cool. So the next thing we'll put out, you know, the team will help figure out.

what else is, you know, maybe cool, but I really didn't really feel that pressure because, again, like, I didn't have expectations going into it. Now, as the song is going up the chart and I know what to expect, then I did start to feel a little bit of pressure on that one, but, but yeah, luckily we rang the bell on this one. Here it is. Yeah, like of all the places to have a, you know,

you think with a mask now, you know, you can get away with a lot, but not on your forehead. I was thinking about you because I do think you're the wisest guy in country music, and are you a Socrates fan? Because maybe you could put, I am the wisest man alive for I know one thing that I know nothing. Yeah. I can tell you this.

Why, we have no idea, but he did. And so much to everyone's disagreement online and all the things that you guys said, Bobby still went ahead and pepper sprayed him. So that went down and I'm going to let you all hear how it happened, how Mike felt afterwards. and make sure you go watch the video online because you don't get to see the visual of all this happening when we talk about it on air. So I promise you that visual is so worth it.

But here we go. Here's a segment. Number five. All this week, I've been struggling with Mike D. our writer who writes a lot of the games that we do and he's just like, please pepper spray me. I want to know what it feels like. I didn't want to do it, but he was going to have it done somewhere.

So I said, okay, just come over to the house. We'll do it at the house because there I have everything. towels, shower, Caitlin's there, a car to drive him to the hospital if he needs it, everything was there. And so he comes over, and you had a little pink pepper spray? Yeah. Is that yours?

My fiancée's. So she carries that around in case someone comes up to her. Yeah. And I thought to myself, what can, how can our listeners benefit from Mike D being sprayed in the face of pepper spray? And it hit me, does this stuff really work? Like, if you have one of these as your keychain in case someone comes and tries to mug you,

do you think it would really work? The answer is, after doing it to Mike, and I'll play a club as yes. 100%. Just make sure you know how to do the thumb thing because it kind of has a safety on it. Oh, really? Thank goodness.

So you don't just pop yourself in the poopoo with it. So, but no to use it. But then no, it works. Why were you craving to have this done? I just wanted to see what it felt like. Okay, so I had it. And I have the pink thing in my hand. And it's red like you're,

it looks like you're shooting Koso on a stuff. face. Oh, really? It's not clear? No. Oh, interesting. Except it hurts when you breathe. Like, I'm shooting him and I'm going, and I took my hand and I want to cross his face three times. One, two, three. Now, we have audio here. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Here is clip number one. Okay, we are at my house right now, not at the radio station in case any of our bosses are listening. And I am going to spray Mike D with pepper spray because I want to be sprayed in the face to feel the sensation. There are a lot of sensations I've wanted to feel. Never has this one popped into my mind.

And you are saying if something happens to you, you are releasing me of all guilt. You are released of anything. Criminal activity. This is just for me. Okay, so here we go. I'm nervous, but I do it. Let's count it down.

Yeah, I can't even open them okay oh when you open them it makes it worse He's drooling Is that the worst pain you've ever felt? Yes I'm good. Oh, you're not So there you have it he got sprayed in the face with pepper spray. Are you glad you did it? I'm glad I did it. Would you want to do it again? Oh, no. Not at all. Was it worse than you thought? It was worse than I thought. And it's not just the pain in your eyes that immediately loses all your sight. It's that breathing it in. I think

you heard in my voice there. Made it hard. So I go back into my house. I'm working on some stuff. And I text Mike like an hour later. I go, hey, I'm just checking in. Are you okay? He goes, yeah, I'm okay. I'm still here. It's your house. I'm like, you're still here. He's like, I'm not leaving right now. Yeah, it took about 15 minutes for my eyes to open again and then 30 minutes for the burning to stop. So would you tell people that this is a good thing to have on them? I mean, it's extremely

effective. Like, you're totally out of it. You can't do anything. You're like completely just blind. It's intense. I need to get something to carry around. Any question for him? I mean, no, I'm thankful to hear he doesn't want to do it again. Because I was getting worried about him wanting the sensation of pain

because I feel like if we dug deeper, that could mean something. like he's wanting to just feel in general. But yeah, no, it seems like it was just the thing and he's over it. Do you recommend it? For someone else to have it for protection, yes. Do you recommend someone getting shot in the face? No, do you not recommend it?

Not worth it. You don't want to feel it. Are you regretting that you did it? No, I'm glad I did it. I wanted to see what it felt like. I know what it feels like. So I'm, no, don't regret it. Are you still craving, putting on a bulletproof vest and having someone shoot it?

I think I'm good on safety equipment. Oh, you're good now. I'm good now. I got my fix. He scratched that itch. Okay. Hey, listen, he did it. Yeah.

So, yep, here we go. Number four. Kenny, how are you? What's up, Bobby? Man, just talking to you. January, it's cold here. I always see pictures of you and you're in warm places. Makes me a little bit jealous.

Where are you right now? I'm in Santa Monica, California. It's cold here, too. Okay, I was looking at your Instagram the other day, and there was a picture of you, and it was like, hey, I don't remember how many years ago it was. Maybe it was 10, 20 years ago, and it was a bunch of you guys in the back of a boat,

and you said, you know, this is when it all started for me, the island life. And I guess I didn't know you before you were Island Kenny, honestly. And so, you know, the first time you go and, you know, you're going out to experience whatever you call the island life, Did you go? It's just a vacation and think this is so fun. I just want to go back and live there. Not really. I ever went down to the islands. I shot a music video for, Bobby, it was crazy. I was walking up the street, and there was this bar, and they had the door open, and I heard George Strait, and I walked in, and I spoke my head in, and I said, is that really George Strait? And these two guys looked at me, who ended up being really good friends of mine from Kansas City, and they went, yeah, and are you Kenny Chesney?

and which really surprised me because it was really early in my life and my journey in my career. But that's kind of where it all started, you know, several, several years ago. But the picture you're talking about was on a friend of mine, Bob's boat called The Hay Now, and it was New Year. I think this is a poster talking about. It was the 20th year anniversary of that date. And it did start my... Yeah, that was the picture I was talking about.

Is it, you know, when you go back to that home and you're there, are there folks that live on the island that only know you as Kenny and not Kenny Chesney, the massive country superstar? Yes, and I love it. When they come out to the shows, you know, they don't know an island for a lot of years now. But when they come out to a show, they're really confused, because they don't know the other person. You know, and they're really, you know, they fused at what's going on.

You know, you put out the song Happy Does, about to go number one. one, another massive hit for you. And I do want to get into the amount of hits in one second. But what is your song selection process like? Because you are notoriously good at picking song. Oh, well, I just try to put myself in the place of the narrator. I have to believe that somebody out there that hears it, it's going to move them in some way. And I've got a few people around me also that's got really good song since. I've learned song since over the years from Buddy Cannon and a lot of people in my life that, you know, help me with that. But I have to love it.

And sometimes it hits me right off the bad, and sometimes I have to live with it, just to know that a listener on it, and that's kind of the mental process I go through. And like I said, sometimes it's evident right off the bat, and sometimes, you know, it's got to hit me a little later on. You have 31 number one. It's about to be 32 with Happy Does. At your shows, I mean, that's a lot of songs to play. Are there any number ones you leave off the list consistently?

That were number one early on in my career. You know, like, every... But my life has been a little strict. I had a greatest hits record out with 18 songs on it, but no strange. It was before the no shoes, no shirt, no problems album. And we would go places, and we would be opening for people. And I would do all these songs, and they'd go, oh, that's the guy that sings that. And it wasn't until we had young and the good stuff and no shoes, no shirt, no problems that we connected the dots with everybody.

Once we started getting to that point, I really did prioritize what I wanted to do in the live element. And sometimes the ballads just don't make it. You know, I talk about you because you are not only legendary, but completely modern and contemporary. Only a few people in my entire music lifetime career have been able to see do that where you put out your first album in 1994. Do you consider yourself as contemporary as you are, a 90s country artist as well?

I do love that music. It's hard for me to listen to the music I made then because everything has changed so much. And I don't listen to it as a fan. I listen to it as somebody that created it. And I'd listen to it and going, oh, well, I would have done this different. Or I'll hear something on a radio from that era and go, well, why did we mix it this way or why do we do this?

So I don't really listen to it that way. I can tell you that I'm going to my career and to be getting songs like American kids and get along four or five years. So I don't know how to answer that. I mean, yes, a big part of my life was in the 90s, but it's also feel like that my audience has grown and grown since then also. and it's funny you say that though because now I'll do these songs that everybody knows now and I'll go back and do a song from the 90s and they'll start checking their phones

they don't even know it you know it's really weird it's interesting to see that I got two quick questions and we'll wrap this up because I appreciate your time I was talking to Dina Carter pretty recently who I'm friends with and love and I know you know Dina as well obviously and she was talking about you know she was riding

and you were riding at a house and the first time that you guys met were kind of in a driveway parking lot because you were blocking her in. So the first Dina Carter meeting, do you remember that meeting, and what in the world were you driving then? I don't remember that. I thought I met her at the BMI Awards. I thought she was wonderful, but maybe she's right. I don't remember that moment, but I love one of my favorite songs ever with you and

Tequila and be a staple of my life. But Dina's so wonderful. She's from East Tennessee, and she's just, she's been so great to me over the years, and I truly love her. All right, one final question. Don't blink came out in 2007. So, like the lyrics of the song, does it feel like the last 14 years have gone by in a blink? Thank you very much. Yes, it has because we've been so busy. And Bobby, when you're on the road as much as we've been, you know, like I said, I would usually tour from March or 8 September whenever we play two nights at Foxborough. And so however that lays. And so when you're doing that

constantly. And my life has always been like a baseball season. We've been on the road for six months, and then we're off for six months, and then say three of the six months off is spent preparing for the next six months off. So, you know, you do that over multiple years together. And yeah, it's, don't blink. It seems like a very relevant song in my life. And there he is. Kenny Chesney. You have another number one. He is not only extremely relevant, and he's still making, setting the standards for other artists, he's also a legend at the same time. Only a few people can I say that about.

So I just took artists and country music today and said, man, this is who should collaborate. The first one I put up was John Party and Dolly Parton. And here's a little dolly for you. Like I need to play Dolly. We know. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But when I was talking to John Party the day and I was like, hey, who would you do a duet with? Who would you like to do it with?

And he's like, well, yeah, Dolly would be cool. He goes, but you know what I'd do? I said, what? He goes, if I could pick anybody. I said, anybody, it does not matter. He said, I'd take Celine Dion. Oh, wow. He said, I saw her live once.

It blew my mind. Can you imagine that collab? That's funny, right? We went, because we're friends with the parties, and so Caitlin and I had dinner with John in summer, and I have a cowboy hat that I bought, like, three months ago. Do you see the picture online? Yeah, that's funny.

Did you say, okay. Did you wear that? To dinner, yeah. So, let me tell you what happened. We went to dinner, and I texted John and said, hey, you're on your cowboy hat, because he wears his cowboy hat everywhere he goes. He's working on the field.

He has a nicer one. for dinner and I said I have a cowboy hat that I spent way too much money on for one bit I need to wear it out some it's like I'll be rocking mine so we go to this restaurant and I'm wearing the cowboy hat and I mean and as serious as a heart attack John we sit down and John and I are sitting you know kind of corner to corner to each other and the girls sitting corner to corner John leans over and didn't want to embarrass me and he goes hey man so what's it goes that cowboy hat it's winter it should be felt because it looks like you're on a ranch right now you don't know the hat etiquette. And I was like, what? He goes, I can get you a felt one for winter if you need one.

I was like, now I'm just trying to wear this because I don't get to wear it out anywhere. But he was serious as can be. And then he goes, because he's, John's a legitimate cowboy. And so he goes, hey, he goes, hey, you like to shape of that one? And I was like, what? Shape of that hat. He goes, my hat guy can make whatever shape you need. I was like, John, I don't plan on wearing a cowboy hat. What shoes did you wear with it? I need a tennis shoes. Oh, my God. Okay. Fun it.

Yeah. I had some, I had my bathing ape, Adidas, camouflage, a pair of jeans, a sweatshirt, and a cowboy hat. There were a couple listeners that were sitting kind of on the edge. And obviously, Caitlin and I got to dinner first, because we're always on time everywhere. And so where they're sitting down. And they recognized me, but I had a cowboy hat on, so they were a little throne. And so they waved, and I waved back, but they were kind of like, is that him? And then John walks in, and they were like, oh, okay.

Yeah, it makes sense. But, yeah, John's a, now it's a big old boy in a cowboy. He's probably six, four. Yeah, he's tall dude. And that hat is probably another three, four inches. But there you go. That's my cowboy hat story from this past weekend.

He told us the famous person's phone number he has in his phone, which is especially if you're a sports person. And of course, we talked about the whole IHOP story that came out of him paying for all

the customers, which was actually really cool. And we found out how much he tipped on that meal, which is even more cool. So yeah, listen back to this. And you're going to laugh because. As soon as Darius laughs, you're going to laugh. I laughed. Like every time. Number two, the Friday morning conversation with Darius Rucker.

And I read the story that comes out that Darius goes into an IHop, buys everybody dinner in the whole place, makes the news, and then makes national news. It's viral. You're viral at IHOP. So tell me what really happened in your mind. I've done that several times in HOP.

I was on my way to play golf with Jack. And I stopped to eat at the HOP, and I was looking around, and there was a bunch of families in there. There was like, it was, I think a Sunday morning, and it was just a lot of families and there, a lot of kids. And I was about to leave it. I was looking around and I was like, man, you know, times are hard. These people are here trying to give their kids. Because I remember what it meant to me if we went to eye up as a kid. And it was like giving their kids a morning of fun and joy. And I was just like, I'm just going to, and I walked by and I know the guy

and I said, hey, man, how long would it take you to calculate everybody's checking? He said about a minute. And I said, okay, well, I want to pay for everybody. And, you know, I took the weight staff and I left. I didn't think it would ever mean. When you see it make the news, are you like, huh? How does this make the news in such a crazy time when the news is, you know, just often so volatile? That's exactly

what I thought. I was like, there's too much going on in the world for people that care about me buying breakfast for people at the I-Hop. But, you know, it was crazy. What kind of tip does Darius leave when you, like, what's the percentage on a tip when you pay for that? I left 100%. On the whole, so you did 100% on the 100% of the restaurant?

Let me ask you about when you hosted the CMAs because you've done it all on every stage for, you know, in different formats. What is it like hosting a network television show? Joked about it, but I'm never going to host a CMA.

It was, Reba was amazing. She was such a pro and such a help to me. He had a blast, but that night is the night I'll never forget. Did it blur to you, or do you remember the night vividly? Oh, I remember vividly. I remember it like it happened just. It was so fast. You know, like the rehearsal took two days, I had seen like,

and then when the show went by so far, but I remember it vividly. Did you and Reba become better friends because you were together rehearsing a lot? Like, are you closer today than you were before the CMAs? Who do you look at in your phone and go? It's really freaking cool. I get to be friends with this person.

That's crazy. Tiger Woods, man. I've known since he was 18 and it still freaks me out. What do you have him saved in your phone as? Oh, as an Eldrick. That's how you know you're super close with someone. Yeah, when you nickname them. Because I have Darius and mine is Druck.
