Owning a home comes with a lot of things nobody really prepares you for, including yard care.
Sunday is a company trying to make that part easier.
They start with a soil test and climate data to build a yard plan tailor to where you live,
then ship everything directly to your door.
No guesswork, no dragging bags of fertilizer.
And instead of harsh chemicals, Sunday uses simple, nutrient dense ingredients like seaweed, molasses, and iron.
Everything hooks up to a hose, which honestly sounds like my speed.
If your yard feels more stressful than satisfying, Sunday's approach makes a lot of sense.

It's the best bits of the week with Morgan number two.
What is up, y'all?
I'm back.
Sorry, you guys had to go a few weeks without the best bits podcast,
but I decided since I'm coming back strong,
I had to come back with Lunchbox.
What up?
Wait, so there was no Best Bits podcast?
Yeah, not for the last two weeks.
So you telling me they could have asked someone to fill in,
and they were like, no one's good enough
that we have to just not have the best bits
the week? Well, I mean, technically, I think it's my podcast at this point, so I don't know that
anybody could have. Oh, man, if I'd have known, you know, if you needed me to step up, I would have
been like, hey, I don't know if I want to do that because that's a lot more extra work, but I had
no idea. I thought maybe someone was doing it and we just didn't have any other. Where's the best
bits? That's what I'm listening to. Wow. So they've been waking up on Saturday morning and they've
been looking at their phones and putting their earbuds in and calling them earbuds? No.
God sounds so old, didn't I? Did I sound old?
AirPods? Is that what you're trying to say?
I don't know. I don't like the ones where you just stick them in your ears.
Feels weird. But so people have been waking up and putting those on and then there's nothing there.
It's just been dead air.
Yeah. Well, not dead air. I mean, you know, they can listen to the SORT Losers.
They could listen to SOR Losers. I mean, I don't know if anybody's listening to SOR Losers.
But, oh, man, did I tell you what, the SOR Losers? I came up with an idea.
What?
And we talked about it like last week. And I think it might have been the Dunders.
dumbest idea I've ever come up with, but I don't know, but I'm going to try to make it happen.
I told Eddie and Ray, I was like, dude, I was out running and I was like, I had this idea that
we should have a sore losers party in Vegas.
Oh, that's interesting, like with all your people.
Yeah, like, just everybody meet in Vegas and have a weekend in Vegas.
To like bet with each other and just hang out.
Yeah.
And so it may have been the dumbest idea ever, but that's what I, yeah, speaking of sore losers.
I don't think it's that dumb.
I mean, you guys are like Vegas Central.
I mean, that's like where you're guys' personalities truly shine.
Well, I mean, they shine everywhere.
Every day when I get out of bed, my personality shines, especially on the best bits
podcast.
I was about to say best of the weekend podcast, but that's not what it's called.
It's the same concept.
So we're good.
Yeah.
Well, welcome back.
Yeah, thanks.
I'm excited to be back.
So in case you all haven't, you know, heard this podcast before, it's me taking the best seven
segments from the show and we break them down from one to seven.
And then, you know, along the way.
No, no, no, no, no, you take them from seven to one.
You don't break them down from one to seven, right?
You go seven, six.
It's like a countdown.
You're right.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
See, that's why lunchbox is here, making draw on point.
I was like, wait a minute.
I was like, maybe at K State they count up, but, you know, most of the rest of the world in the countdown.
Every time, every time I do something wrong, you just take a jab at my college.
Yeah, well, why not?
Because you're a Jhawk fan.
That's actually why.
No, no, no, it's really, just because it's funny.
Like, if you, if someone does something, where'd you go to college?
You always say that.
because no one's going to make fun of my college.
Because UTSA, guess what?
No one's ever heard of it.
So it doesn't matter.
It's like they ask you and they're like, never mind.
Yeah, they're like, a joke in itself.
You're like, you're from Texas?
Yeah, where'd you go to school?
UT?
No, University of Texas at San Antonio.
Do what?
Okay, and then they just like, yeah, okay, never mind.
No worry about it.
Yes, I take them from seven to one.
And this week, of course, I'm having lunchbox on with me.
And we're just going to kind of talk about all the things,
just random stuff that's going on in our lives.
You cool with that?
I'm good with that because I got a lot of random stuff going on in my life.
Good.
I'm ready for it.
Well, let's get started then.
Cool.
Coming in at number seven, I know you're going to be mad.
It's right here, Lunchbox.
But it was a good bit, and it made the list.
You acted like Ramundo's dad.
Friends went into Joey, how cheers turned into Frazier, you know, spin-offs.
Yeah, because like you acted like my dad.
And then you're like, hmm, good segment.
Exactly.
I had to take you back because you had to take you back.
actually stole some paper towels.
And so I took you...
Accidentally stole some paper towels.
Right.
And so I took you back to the grocery store and scolded you in front of the employees.
Well, Ray, he was just talking about, man, I got this on my tire.
Dang it.
And he was just going to take it and, you know, not even care.
And then I was like, hey, don't worry.
Your dad is here and we're going to go get the bottom of it.
And let me tell you, there's nothing more awkward because you, I feel like,
okay, I can't pass for your dad, but it's a little...
It's more believable than me being Ray's father.
Well, yeah, I mean, Ray's got like eight years on me.
Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
It's a little more believable with you.
Ray and I are literally five years apart.
It's not like a big difference.
You can't tell.
I mean, especially, you know, I look so young and, you know, fit and handsome.
But it was so fun.
And when we walked in that office, you want to talk about just awkward?
Every time you do one of these bits is awkward lunchbox,
especially being like a second party to some of those.
Like, trust me, I know that feeling.
But like what I want to know is this is becoming a thing where you're,
you're acting like a dad.
How does it make you feel that now in your bits you are having to act like a dad?
You are a dad.
Exactly.
I mean,
what's the big deal?
I am a dad.
But doesn't make you feel old.
No,
it doesn't make me feel old because it's funny.
And I think what I enjoy about it the most is I just can see it in these people's eyes.
When you walk in there and you say you're the dad,
they are looking going,
they're trying to figure it out.
Figure out the math,
right?
Yes.
They are trying in their head to calculate.
How old I had to be for this daughter or son of mine to be this old.
And they're just like, huh.
And they're confused because deep down they're like,
there's no way that's their dad, but I can't argue with them that it's their dad.
So, uh,
and you can just see the wheels in their head turning and them trying to figure it out,
but then they're just like, ah, eh, ah, uh, but no, the what makes me look old is when I don't shave
and I have the gray hair on my chin, like right here on the front.
that's what makes me look old.
Not acting like dad for you and Ray.
That doesn't make me feel old.
It's the gray in the beard.
That's when it's like, oh, golly.
And I should point out that your hair,
like when you shave back in like a day.
It's so ridiculous.
That's why it's so hard.
And that's what everybody doesn't understand.
I was like,
oh, I can't believe you don't shave more.
Listen, guys, I shave and like three days later,
it's all boom.
It's a beard again, and it's so annoying.
That may be the most annoying thing in life is shaving.
That is my least favorite thing.
to do is shave. It's terrible. Oh, that's an interesting concept. Okay, what is your, what on top of shaving?
What is like your three least favorite things to do? Oh my, uh, weed eating. I love. Oh my gosh.
Yeah. It's so terrible. Like I don't mind mowing the lawn. Like I like doing lawn stuff, you know,
trimming the bushes, all that. But weed eating for some reason is just absolutely terrible.
You have to be so like specific in how you do it and hold it up.
the whole time. Hold it up the whole time. So perfect. And do you wear goggles when you
weed eat? Yes, because my dad don't have to. Well, our sunglasses. Something to protect
your eyes. And I wear jeans when I weed eat because everything just
flies. Have you ever like not worn jeans? Oh my God. And then you're like bleeding all over
your shins. Yes. I've gotten rocks in the shin. And it's just like terrible idea.
And that's when I knew I was old when I was when I was like, you know what? I got to go to
pants. You know, you can't be out there wearing shorts, sunny. Because it hurts. So we did
would be number two.
Man, what's number three?
I don't know if I have a third
because those are the two
that just really drive me nuts.
Do you have any
so why I can think for a third
because I can't think of a third right now?
Mine's kind of like a random one
because I work out so much
but it's burpees.
I hate burpees.
That's not really one.
I know, but that just made me think of something
is like I really hate burpees.
And my question is
and hear me out,
why are burpees so much harder?
I know.
All you're doing is adding a jump in there.
Yes.
But it is so much harder than just doing a push-up.
Yes.
It's like because it's taking on your body weight
and you're having to take it all on.
That's why it's like such a good exercise.
It can make you do like 50, 100 burpees and I'm like,
excuse me?
That is not what I want to be doing today.
And then by the time it's over,
I want to throw up because I'm so nauseous from going up and down.
But no, I was with you on weeding.
that's one of them, but as a girl, a main one for me is getting ready.
I would, like, I love going to do things, but I would rather sit on my couch and not do anything
because I don't want to get ready.
Like, I hate getting ready.
I get that.
Like hair, makeup, shower, everything.
I hate the process of it.
My wife, she was just blown away, like when it comes to shaving.
Like, she was shocked that men didn't shave every day because her dad,
shaves every single day.
So growing up, she saw him shave every single day.
So when she got older, she said it was blowing her mind that some guys didn't shave
every single day.
She said it was just like a like, what is going on in this world?
Like, how come they're not shaving?
And so, yeah, that's, I mean, it's just so funny to me that different things.
But you say get ready because I'm with you on getting, I'll say get ready because when
I was a kid. I hated getting dressed up. And so I was like, I'm never going to be able to have a job where I have to get dressed up every day. There's no way I'll be able to handle it. Like wear a suit every day? Well, I wouldn't even be able to wear a suit every day. Well, I wouldn't even be able to wear a suit every day. Because I'd have to have someone do my tie. Because I'd have to have someone. Yeah, your poor wife would be like, okay, we need to get you a new job. I can't do this. Before I even got married, I'd had to go to work. I'm like, hey, yo, Jim, over here, Jim and in accounting, can you get my neck and put that tie on there for me? Because I can't. And because I still don't know how to tie a tie. So I just leave my
ties. If I ever have one, I tie it, leave it tied, and then I just hang it on the,
and then I put it on, and I can pull it up, and it's been tied for years.
And you just never leave, like, you never un-tied.
No.
Being a charity event, and I need a tie, and it's not tied, I'll show up and ask someone, like,
in the lobby of the hotel or the event to tie my tie.
That's amazing. I think I've seen you do that at some of our events before.
Most of the time, I think it happens pretty quickly.
You, like, find someone, like one of the security cards, and you're like, I don't want to enter here
without this.
Yep.
Go over to the side.
How you think you can help me out here?
All right.
Thanks, Bill.
You're a good guy.
Well, that's weird too about like the beard thing because I feel like with my dad, like,
back in the day it was like goatees and mustaches that were a thing.
Whereas now it's like be beards are a thing.
Yeah.
And that may be why people don't like shave as much every day because it's more common
to have a beard.
Yeah.
My dad had a mustache when we were kids.
And I remember this.
It was one Christmas.
We were at my grandma and grandpa's in Chicago.
And my dad's like, I'm going to shave my mustache off today.
And I mean, I had known my dad for having mustache.
And I was like, I will never talk to you again.
If you shave any shade.
And I was like, no.
And I went upstairs and I would not talk to him for like a couple hours.
And then I gave in.
All because he saved his mustache.
Well, because it was like I'd never seen him without a mustache.
And so my dad was like, it's okay.
I'm the same person.
I'm like, no.
We were like the polar opposite.
We were like the ones who made my dad shave it.
Because it was like one of those like pretty handlebar mustache, right?
Oh, see, that's cool.
He had like the full thing going on and we're like, okay, like it's time.
But this was, I mean, after he had it for years, right?
We're like, okay, dad, like, it's time to go.
And then he took it off and we're like, this is so weird.
We don't know what you look like without that.
But you were probably older.
Yeah.
Oh, much older.
I was like seven.
And so I was like, oh my gosh, my dad's changing.
Like, I won't know who he is.
One of those things because I'd seen him with a mustache for forever.
And then he shaved it.
And I was like, oh, you know what?
It's not too bad.
Yeah, that's it.
an interesting concept to think of like the identifying things that made your parents like
kind of who they were when you were a kid because you see them over and over it's like it's like
if you have a kid and you have really really long hair and then you shave it off they're probably like
who is this stranger coming to pick me up from school yeah who do you think would be like
your identifying factors for your kids for you um that's hard maybe anything yet anything yet
are they too young?
No, I think they're not too young.
I mean, they recognize, like, when you walk into school to get them,
I mean, they look at you and they see you and they come sprinting,
which is so weird to me because I'm like doing things,
and I'm like this, which is so mind-blowing to me.
Yeah, they're only going to remember it because you're going to be like,
hey, we did that.
And they're like, oh, oh, yeah, that feels right?
Right.
Like, why is that?
Can you, can someone, some scientist or doctor or, um, um,
whatever you call them people, head people.
Neurologist.
Yeah, there you go.
Tell me why they don't know something.
Like, why don't they remember before five?
I have a couple memories before five, but that's it.
And I don't know why that is.
It's so weird to me to think that we've done so much like my oldest son baby box is three.
In his three years, we've done so much.
And he's going to remember none of it.
Yes.
But then you remember all of it.
Well, I don't know.
Most of it.
I mean, like when you get, you're like you remember these things.
about your kids.
Well, I think you say that,
but once they're 12, 13, 14,
I don't think I'm going to remember it either
because my parents are like,
I don't remember that,
but I'm 40,
so that's a little different.
Well, that's why it's like the parents and kids.
It's a collective effort of memories.
It's like, here they all are.
And you're like that somewhere along the line.
Yeah, and I mean, I think Ray,
for the rest of his life
is going to remember me being his dad.
Yeah, this is true.
I mean, yeah, his older age,
he's going to be like, lunchbox is my father.
Do you have any, before we move on to our
next few things. Do you have any like dad updates for us on your kids?
One's three, one's one and a half and I got the other one coming October 22nd and it's the size
of a hickama right now. What is a hickama? I don't know. Is that a fruit? I think so.
But you look and look it up and it says, oh, baby's the size of a hickama and I'm like,
all right, legit. And how's your wife doing like in this pregnancy? She is tired. I mean,
she just wants to go to bed all the time and I'm like, hey girl, we got.
got two kids. Let's go. Let's go. Come on, come on. But she wants to sleep. Like,
she's tired and this. Yeah, and she's taking naps. She always, I hate naps. I hate naps.
And now, guess what? Taking naps a lot. Taking naps. I feel so, I feel so much worse after my
nap. That's not, that's not possible. She didn't feel that way with your first two kids.
Oh, she probably did. But I'm just, it's just harder. It's just harder with two kids.
because does that mean it's going to be a baby girl?
Well, probably.
I mean, I have no.
She's more emotional this time.
Like, watching TV-wise, she cries a lot more at TV shows and commercials and movies.
But I don't know if that's just because she's more exhausted because chasing two kids around and being pregnant, the hot, humid summer.
Who knows?
Well, but you guys also don't know, right?
You don't know that.
No, we don't know.
You're not finding out until it happens.
Correct.
What, like, would be your excitement level if it was a girl?
Ah!
If it was a boy?
Okay, so a little more if it was a boy.
Yeah.
But you do already have two boys.
Yeah.
Do you want a girl?
I mean, we'll see.
Like, you're not against it, but like...
I mean, I'm not against it, but I'm not cheering for it.
Is your wife cheering for it?
Oh, cheering for it.
Yeah.
Chearing for it hard.
Well, yeah, I mean, that's a full boy household right now.
Yeah, and a boy dog.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's all men in that house.
And a boy living in the attic that we don't know.
Always throwing in something random.
It's like a new story.
You're trying to make a new story out of something?
Yeah, I was trying to make it out.
Yeah, that was a good dad update.
Yeah.
So one month, kind of, a month and a half.
What month are we in?
September 1st.
Well, September 2nd, third, fourth, you know?
Oh, gosh.
It's only a month away.
Yeah?
Okay, yeah.
That's, I didn't know that.
And you guys are prepped for it, like baby room, everything ready?
I mean, we got all the stuff from the first two, so there ain't nothing really prepped.
So let me ask you this, like, because.
it's like y'all's third one.
Baby two wore them.
So baby three will wear those.
Asinette because baby one slept in it.
Baby two slept in it.
So baby three will sleep in it.
I mean,
haven't had to buy anything.
Do you guys have like enough rooms for all the kids?
Are you guys going to have to move?
No, no.
The one and two share a room.
Okay.
And then we have a guest room.
And then the new baby will sleep in our room for six months.
And then are you guys thinking you might have to move?
Then we'll just put all three in one room.
That's going to be like stepbrothers on.
steroids.
I mean, so I have no idea.
We'll see what happens.
I mean, or we'll get rid of the guest room and put the, hey, and that's another thing.
If it's a, if it's a boy, is it rude to leave him out and put him in a different room or put the older one?
So you don't, I don't know how we would do that.
So you guys got some things to figure out probably next year at some point.
Yeah, next year.
That's what I say that all time.
Oh, just next year.
We'll worry about that next year.
Just keep pushing it off, right?
And it's the next year.
And she's like, what about now?
I'm like, let's think about those things next year.
Oh, I love that.
Okay.
Well, thanks for the dad.
update. That was fun. All right. Well, you can hear it now. Lunchbox acts like a dad to a full-grown man,
not his children, but to Raymondo. And it's pretty funny. Number seven. It's time for pick
a bit. I've given you three options. The first bit is Ramundo needs advice that I think could help out
a lot of listeners as well. It's a pretty good question. It's not crazy. The second one is
lunchbox needs advice about his cousin. Which could be really good. But his cousin?
That's the part that makes it good.
Okay.
I think.
Or lunchbox does some hidden mic, and he goes in, acts like Ray's dad for a reason, and Ray is with him.
Which would you like, Amy?
I would like the audio of lunchbox and Ray.
Eddie?
Bones, I, too, would like the audio of lunchbox being raised dad.
Okay, well, two out of three doesn't matter who the next vote is.
That is the winner.
So it's pick a bit.
The bit you pick today is Lunchbox acts like Ray's dad.
So I'll set it up real quick
Lunch last week in the parking garage
Ray found his driver's tire flat right Ray?
Yep
Completely
This is happening to me too
Because they're building all these construction here
And had a nail on my car tire
Exactly
So there was a dark piece of metal in your tire
Got it right here
Oh you do
Yeah
You're keeping that for a reason
Absolutely
You'll find out in the bed
Okay
So then lunchbox what's the deal?
I hear Ray talking about it like
Man something from the construction site
It was in my tire and I had to get my tire fixing.
I was like, hey, man, you want your dad to go over there and talk to him?
Let's go down there and march to their office and get it paid for.
So I was going to, I said, like I did with Morgan number two, I took him to the construction site, get his tire paid for.
Is he with you?
He's with me and I'm his dad.
I'm going to do the talking.
Okay.
Okay, here we go.
Excuse me, sir.
Yeah, we got this in, my son got this in his tire.
Hey, let me call you right back in just a second.
He works right here on Music Road.
So he had that in the tire.
went flat and just trying to see exactly what you guys do about that.
I know you're building the structure and, you know, so things do fly off or whatever.
Right.
I would just have to be able to tell if this came from us or not.
The only thing I could think of this being would be a glass window frame.
Okay, here we are.
But they, I don't think that.
We were talking to the guy.
The guy's like, I don't know, he's already backtracking a little bit.
Okay.
Now I'm going to give you options before we get to end of the clip.
Yeah, this is like choose your own adventure.
Yes.
How much does he end up paying for Ray's tire?
Does he offer $100, $75, $25, or $0?
Zero.
Yeah.
D, zero.
Okay.
Everybody goes zero?
If he pays any money, I'm shocked.
Me too, Amy.
You don't think they're going to find themselves okay.
Maybe.
I'm just shocked you guys.
There's no way they believe you're raised dad.
Did they look at you funny when you said you were his dad?
I mean, he was caught off guard.
He was on the phone.
I got to call you back.
He was like, oh, this is serious business.
circus just walked in a way it could be possible the world's oldest kid lunchbox could have
married ray's mom no no we get how he could be a stepdad right yeah yeah okay yeah you know
so things do fly off or whatever right i would just have to be able to tell if this came from us or not
the only thing i could think of this being would be a glass window frame but they i don't think they've
done any on-site cutting how much can we get yeah like how much do we get for the top
like for that I can't tell you that by any stretches hundred I'm not gonna be able to
just hand you money because you have something in your tire on the street we'd have
to be able to prove that this came from our job site okay possible to just get a
check cut 50 bucks call it good 25 I don't keep your tire son did your tire blow
out and driving past the job side or no he just came out in the parking garage
and then it was low, like after work.
Like, so it got into this morning on the way to work.
That's all.
I just didn't know what if that was yours.
So that's all I was checking.
But we'll go to the next job site.
All right.
Cool.
Thanks, guys.
Well, you gave up quick.
Yeah.
Well, it was getting awkward.
It wasn't getting awkward.
It started awkward.
It was getting awkward because he was just like,
I can't cut you to check.
And he was like, and I thought there's no way he's going to know what this little
piece of metal is.
And he's like, oh, it looks like, you know, that's from a window frame.
And we haven't done any cutting on the jobs.
I'm like, okay, this guy knows we're frauds.
Like, we need to get out of here.
But don't you think it came from that?
I do.
But, I mean, I had no way to prove it.
Why didn't you do it?
Yeah, you started all tough.
And then you got, you got wimpy.
You're like, we'll go check another side.
Right.
How awkward did it get?
Well, because there's about three construction sites on Music Row, we weren't
100% sure it was that site.
Yeah.
And then when he hit us with the glass cutting on site, that kind of threw us for a little bit.
So, yeah, that was our trouble.
Then you know what's next?
The next job.
job site.
Everybody got it right zero.
And then we played Pick a Bit and you guys made a good choice today.
It's the best bits of the week with Morgan number two.
This was a fun one.
A listener wrote into our mailbag and they wanted to know about underrated 90s country
artists.
Now, Lunchbox, I know you're not a super huge, like, you know, music expert or anything.
Says who?
I mean.
I'm an expert.
everybody. I'm an expert in pretty much anything that is anything in this world.
Okay. Like, I have an opinion. I know my things and I just know the truth. You have an opinion. Let's
put it that way. Yeah. So I would like to know your opinion. Who do you think is an underrated
country 90s artists? It's easy. It goes by the name of John Michael Montgomery. Oh yeah. Yeah.
I sold you on that one, didn't you? Yeah, but what's the song? Sold. Oh. See how I sold you on that one.
I missed a pun.
Yeah, that's why I said that.
It was like, I sold you on that one, didn't I?
Hey, she's an eight, she's nine, she's a ten, I know.
Hey!
Blonde hair, blue eyes, I'm about to bid my heart.
Goodbye!
Look at you go.
Yeah.
You sing that song on karaoke sometimes?
No.
Lice a dance you learn as you follow.
Don't worry about what you don't know.
Lice a dance you learn as you go.
Well, if people are not awake,
Yeah, they are now after that performance.
I love the way you love me.
I mean, you're really messing with my mind.
Are you singing three different songs?
Yeah, three different songs.
Okay, that's what I thought.
Yeah, I did sold.
But like your inflection never changed.
But no, no, I did, it did.
Oh, well, I did.
I did sold.
Yeah.
I did Life's a Dance.
Okay.
And then I did, I love the way you love me.
Okay.
I can love you like that.
Move heaven and earth.
to make you my girl.
But see, like, you sing so monotone.
Was that good?
Yeah, hey, you're doing great.
That was a fourth song.
Did you know that was a fourth song?
Yes, but like you sing like similar in all the different ways.
No, I did not.
I sold.
I said, she's an eight, she's a nine, she's a ten I know.
Groovy red lips, one hair, blue eyes.
I'm about to, that was different.
I know.
But the other ones and they all started blending together.
I can't know if he's singing different songs.
No, I did live sedentine.
Life's a dance.
You learn as you go.
Sometimes you leave
Sometimes you follow
That's different inflections right
Between those two yes
But like the first and the three
No
Oh man
I was getting through
I love the way you love me
Were you ever inquire as a kid
Heck no
Yeah I didn't think so
No
Hey that's one of those things
Let me tell you
I will say that is one thing
That is one thing that I do wish
I knew how to sing
Because people when they sing
they look like they are having so much fun.
Are you sure you don't want to be able to sing
because they can have the fame that goes with it?
No, I don't care about the fame.
I already got fame.
I don't need the fame to go with it.
I am just saying just like when we're in the studio
and Bobby and Amy and Eddie and you, they say,
oh, everybody's seeing it.
I just sit there with my tail between my legs
and look down to the floor because I know that when he is saying that,
when Bobby is saying that, he's like,
everybody but lunchbox sing
because we want it to sound on beat and on rhythm
and like we know what we're doing.
Because if I sing, everybody would sing in,
she's an eight, she's a nine,
and I'd be like, she's an eight, she's a nine.
So I'd be way behind,
I'd be way off beat and I would ruin it.
And I'm just like, man, that would be so much fun.
And even at karaoke, like, I do karaoke,
but I'm so bad that the crowd at that point is just like,
I'm going to go get a beer, this is terrible.
I would like the crowd to just one time be like,
oh yeah, get up and sing with me because it's so funny.
I was in Vegas a few years.
ago, there was me, my wife, and our friend Ryan, and we just were having some drinks and we stumbled
across this karaoke bar and everybody's having a good time. And man, I got up there and I could
see the look on people's faces when I was singing. They were just like, hurry up and end this
song. Well, to be fair, I think that's just about every karaoke thing that happened.
No, no, no, because some people are like, you know, can fun and get the crowd going and like, I mean,
I try to get the crowd going by being hyped, but then I start singing. They're like, oh, gosh, we are not
hyped anymore. I mean, you are learning and working on your rhythm, though. I mean, we've seen it
in the dance videos. Well, the dance videos is different. You've gotten progressively better.
I just sang four songs for you and you thought they were all the same song because they were
the same whatever you. Yes, but you're not practicing your singing every day. No, I do. You practice
our dancing every day. Are you kidding me? Every time I hear a song I know, I practice my singing.
Oh, like in the car. Yeah, in the car, in the house. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah.
You're not, you're not getting better at that. But you are getting you are getting
better rhythm. So that's a good thing. Yeah, well, I've got rhythm, guys. No. No, no, no, no, no. Yeah,
maybe not choreographed dancing. Okay, I'm not that good because I got to learn the steps.
No, no, no, no, you look like a bebop, beep-bub-bur around. Like, you know, a bebopper around.
I don't know what a bebopper around is. It's just, I don't know. It's like a word,
oh, it came to my head. But like when I walked you, I just see you that bebopin around. I don't
know. Okay, well, you and you're
b-bobbing around, if you would have been
at the club back in the day when I was a
clubber, dude, you want
to know who could freak? This guy can
freak. He could get up on them girls and
let's freak. Okay, well, that's a lot
different than like rhythm
dancing. I'm sure just about everybody
can figure out of grind.
No, that is rhythm dancing. You've got to
be rhythm music. You've got to be in tune with
her body and your body going,
mm, mm-mm. And let me tell you,
I will never forget. This one girl at level,
dancing with her, just crushing it all nightline.
She goes, dang, you can dance for a white dude.
And I'm like, yeah, what a?
Shout out to that girl, wherever she's at right now.
Level, level, level, San Antonio.
Something happened to you as you got older because it did not continue because
because I quit going to the club.
I quit grinding, you know what I'm saying?
Oh, you lost your mojo.
I mean, when you quit going to the club and you quit grinding, I mean, it's like, okay.
But I bet you if I got back in the club, like when I used to go to Vegas and get in the club, man,
let me tell you, I'd woo those grue those.
girls with my dancing. Oh, okay. Yeah. All right. I mean, I go hard. I'm just going to trust you,
but I'm just saying, like, as you've gotten into your older age, the rhythm went away.
Yeah, maybe. But you are learning it back. Yeah. And I mean, I'm getting my rhythm back,
but I'm never going to get my singing back. But like I said, I miss those days. Like,
if anybody out there, probably no one knows what level was in San Antonio, it was, it was
incredible. Like, this, this place was so incredible. You would show them your 18-year-old ID,
19 year ID, and they put a wristband on you.
It was awesome.
Yeah, I mean, that's how a lot of clubs used to be.
Like back in Wichita, too.
They would just act like they're checking IDs and they'd look at it.
Okay, cool.
Here you go.
Well, I guess we had them.
You were allowed to be there.
No, that's what I'm saying.
So you were getting a wristband for being 21, but you were.
I was like, your idea.
All right, cool.
Like, they were checking IDs and they would just give everybody a wristband.
It was like, this is the place.
So what you're saying is it's the underage bar.
It was great.
Level was so cool.
It was so cool.
And then it got raided by the feds and shut down.
But rest and peace, level.
And that makes it.
A lot of those bars that happened too.
Typically go away.
It went by by.
It didn't come back after that.
But yeah, level was the spot.
Level was the spot.
Yeah.
I love that.
I love remembering bars that used to be like a really cool spot when you were in college
or in high school.
Or when I was out of college.
And you're gone and you're like that.
And I used to every Friday night.
Element.
Fifth and Lavaca.
Come on down.
We are live.
Fifth and Lavaga element.
Wasn't that in Wichita?
That was in Austin.
Didn't you do something like that in Wichita too?
Yeah, that was America's Pub.
Yeah, you did.
I knew you did like far stops.
Yeah.
Yeah, whenever we'd come visit Wichita, I'll go to America's Pub.
I'm telling you, I used to be live on the radio every Friday or Saturday night at Element, Fifth in Lovaca.
And let me tell you, it starts out, yeah, what's up?
We're a fifth in LaVaca Element.
No cover for the ladies.
Let's go.
Come 1230th.
Who's the Lovaca.
Can't see me
Phidlovakia
And you probably thought you sounded fantastic
Oh I thought it sounded sober as a bird
Sober as a bird
Yeah
You're like I sound great
I do I did
And it was like in the beginning
It would be like echoes
Because there's no one there
You know what I mean
You're trying to get people there
And you're like oh yeah
It's crowded
It's looking good
Look at that girl from the dance floor
There's no one on the dance floor
Because it was just me
And the legendary DJ Doc
Oh man
Yeah
I'm like picturing young
Lunchbox doing this
It's a weird thing to picture.
It was incredible.
It was so, it was a blast.
Blast, I'm telling you.
Just a blast.
Well, to get back to what we were originally.
I mean, that felt like it was the 90s, but it was really the 2000s.
Yeah, to be fair, though, 2000s were awesome.
I love the 2000s.
Well, I don't think they get enough credit.
We're still in the 2000s.
No, we're in 2020.
We're 20 years past.
But it's still 2000 something.
So it's the 2000s.
Well, yeah.
But I'm.
mean, I don't think we're going to be alive when it's a whole other.
Don't bring that.
Don't do that.
Well, I'm just saying like when it's the $3,000.
No, no, no, no, don't go there.
Don't go there.
Don't, no.
Don't do that.
Don't do that.
I mean, don't, don't do that.
So we can't, like, we have to ruminance on the 2000s now.
Don't do that.
Okay, I'm just saying anyways.
Mine for the 90s country.
Oh, 90s.
Yeah, you were alive then.
I was like, you probably don't even know 90s country.
No, I love 90s country.
That's because my parents.
I mean, that's all they listen to is country music.
Yeah.
Right.
But Martina McBride was my girl.
And I think she is super underrated for a 90s country chart.
Tell me some of her songs.
Independence Day.
I ain't singing to you.
No, no.
I know Independence Day.
Independence Day.
Let freedom ring.
Yep.
Beautiful.
A broken wing.
Oh, let me tell you about a broken wing.
I hate that song.
Because it's sad.
No, just because when I worked at Dunkin' Donuts, they played it over.
And with the broken wing.
I think it was huge.
huge on the radio when it came out.
I would hear it over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.
Great song.
Nellie to McGrath?
Great song.
But I mean, and when I brought, she still flew or something.
You're not wrong.
You're halfway there.
I was like, goodness.
Do you know my baby loves me?
My baby loves me just the way I am.
Yeah.
See, underrated.
No, no, no, go ahead.
Go ahead.
Say a little more.
That's all I got.
No, no, I didn't hear the rest.
I lost it.
My baby and I?
No, don't even.
I know what you're doing.
My baby, say it again.
No.
My baby loves me just the way that I am.
There you go.
What's the next line?
No.
No, I don't know the next line.
I really don't know the next line.
Anyway.
I really don't know the next line.
No.
Isn't that karaoke?
You're great out of it.
You do great.
No, no.
Please give me one more line because I need to know it.
I really don't know.
Like, off the top of my head.
Okay, you're lying.
I don't.
But underrated.
Martina McBride was fantastic.
I mean, I had every one of her CDs.
Okay.
But she never gets like really recognized when you talk about 90s country artists.
Yeah, I don't know.
Yeah.
I don't know.
I don't really.
Back to the not side of the education.
No, no, I educate, but I don't.
Hey, where'd you go to college?
University of Texas, San Antonio, roadrunners, beep, beep.
I don't really ever have discussions with people like, oh, you know what, 90s countries?
So I don't know if she gets credit or not.
Like I've never.
Okay, well, she doesn't for the most part.
I mean, she's just credited for being an awesome artist.
and she's from my home state of Kansas.
Is she only 90s?
Was she 2000s?
No, I mean, she had a lot in 2000s and stuff too,
but like she had some hits in the 90s
and just goes under-noticed, undervalued.
Gotcha.
Yeah.
Okay.
Okay.
Well, we'll get into this because we still got more to talk about.
And with the broken wing.
Yeah, sing us out.
We'll bring you.
My baby loves me.
I don't know.
How do you, how do you go?
My baby loves me just the way that I am.
Yep, there you go.
We go walking down the street hand in hand.
Okay, now we don't got it.
All right.
Yeah, listen to this.
This listener shared her underrated 90s country artist and Bobby, Amy, Eddie.
They all shared theirs too.
Here we go.
Number six.
You send an email and we read it on the air.
It's something we call Bobby's Mailbag.
Yeah.
Hey, Bobby Bones.
I was just listening to some Jody Messina and thinking how I love her music from the 90s so much.
I feel like maybe
she's a little underrated.
Just wondering if you agree
and who are some of your favorite
underrated 90s country artists
signed Donna.
This is interesting.
I do not think Jody Messina
because I rate her so high.
Yeah.
I love Jody Messina,
but I can see where
maybe you don't hear her talked about
as much as a Garth or George Strait.
Right.
Or a Travis Tred.
Brooks and Dunn.
Or Trisha.
Rwood.
Reba.
You talk about her more.
I mean, they're really,
but I love Jody Mascena.
She's one of my favorite live performances
in the studio.
her music is so good to me.
But I thought about this question in
who, even though they were known,
who probably should be in the conversation
more of that list?
And so I have a couple
because I don't think Joe Diffy
gets the respect that he's due
with the success that he had.
For example, prop me up beside the jukebox.
Loved it, loved the video
when videos weren't an important part of the song.
Pick up.
man, jam.
I never knew you were a pickup man.
You can sit my truck on fire
and roll it down a hill and still
would have traded for a coop
de Ville.
John Deere Green.
Come on.
John Deere Green
on a hot summer night.
Billie Bob loves
Charlene. I feel like
Joe Diffey is one of those that
probably should be rated higher. Already rated
high, but probably should be
rated higher, so I'll put them in that underrated
category. The other one is Diamond
Rio. And when I think of Diamond Rio,
obviously I think a meat in the middle.
One of the best songs in 90s country period.
Like, just that song alone stands by
itself. But Norma Jean Riley,
to me, I'm just going to marry me.
I mean, everybody said,
fool, fool, nothing you can do.
Never going to see her with the likes of you.
I say
Watch and see
No my jean,
Ronald are going to marry me
Eddie got that one up there, buddy
Oh, marry me
I think you are off.
It depends which verse.
It's like notice me.
And then
What a beautiful mess.
What a beautiful mess.
Oh, yeah.
What a beautiful mess I mean
Spitting all my time.
So to me, those two
represent being slightly underrated
in the 90s.
Have we ever had Diamond Reef?
on here?
No, I spent a little time with them on a Blake Shelton video shoot once.
Oh, wow.
Because I was with Blake, the lead singer, and I thought it was so cool, and I didn't really
have anything to say because it was too cool.
You're so cool, man.
Yeah, that's basically it.
I was just a massive fan my whole life.
But Diamond Rio was my first ever concert.
Thank you, Donna.
Close up the mail bag.
We got your email and we read it on your air.
Now it's about to close Bobby's Mailpack.
Yeah.
Let's go
It's the best bits of the week
With Morgan number two
Another spin-the-wheel moment
happened on the show this week
And the loser
Has to wear a cat tail for 48 hours
It was kind of a random thing
That got thrown in there one day
You know, we kind of missed over it
High school girls are wearing cat tails now
Apparently, like high school kids in Kentucky
Is where the story came from
Are wearing...
Oh, Kentucky, I get it
I don't know if it's happening in other places.
Wildcats.
Well, yeah, but I think that's like college.
This is a high school.
I know.
I was just being funny because I was making fun of Kentucky at first.
And then I was like.
And then you're like, let me fade into it.
Yeah, yeah.
I got you.
But yeah, they were wearing, they're like wearing foble and cat outfits, acting like cats.
Like it's the whole thing.
So yeah, somebody on the show has to do that.
Not going to give that away because it's kind of funny how it turned out.
Let me tell you.
When that wheel comes in, I get my palms are all sweaty.
Your knees, weak, arms are heavy.
arms are heavy.
Yeah, vomit on my sweater already.
Yeah.
Because that wheel has a weird way of messing with you in finding you.
You know, it just does weird things.
Like that one time, like when they were trying to go to space, we had to land on the
wheel to go to space.
And I did not want to go to space.
I was terrified.
And it landed on my name and I lost, right?
So then I had to pay $100 to have a re-spin.
And we put everybody's name back on the wheel and we eliminated them one by one.
and I was still, once again, the last name standing.
Then I had to eat the freaking hot chip, the hottest chip in the world.
The wheel has a way of finding me.
I hate the wheel.
I mean, I'm with you.
It's happened to me.
I had to eat the world's stinkiest fruit.
But then it was delicious.
It ended up being good, yes.
But you don't know that going into it.
You know?
Well, I understand that.
Yeah.
So we could have flopped because I would love to go to space.
And you would have ate the world's stingiest fruit.
And you would eat mustard on water.
Oh, yeah, I didn't have to do that.
Thank goodness.
Those are my gosh.
I don't like mustard is gross.
Which are both pretty easy, though.
Oh, yeah, you don't like mustard.
I can't.
What other, like, weird.
What foods do you not like?
Mustard.
Mustard, mayonnaise, ketchup, ranch.
Okay, so you don't like condiments.
Nah.
What do you put on sandwiches, salads?
What kind of sandwich?
Any kind of sandwich.
Like, just like, say you go to, like, Jersey mics.
Okay.
Right?
What do you get as, like, a dressing?
Oh, nothing.
So you get a dry sandwich.
Dry sandwich.
Yeah, nothing on there.
Nothing.
Yeah, what else would you put on there?
I don't put mayonnaise, mustard, ranch.
I don't put any of that.
Yeah, I don't know what...
Cajun?
I don't know.
No.
There's a Cajun ranch.
No.
But you don't like ranch.
Ranch.
That, wow, that's weird to me.
So dry sandwiches.
Yeah.
And you do not eat salads?
Not eat salads.
You don't mind like some dressings?
Well, I got.
I'll do like the raspberry walnut vinegar grette or something like that.
Vigarette, yeah.
Is that what's called?
That's right, right?
Yeah.
Or there's this one lemon something vinegar.
Poppy seed?
No, I didn't name pie.
It's lemon vinegarrette something farms makes it.
Yeah, like those.
I think that's a dessert.
Lemon meringue pie, I think is what that is.
I think that's a dessert.
Okay, but you do like dressings and salad.
Very, yeah, but I don't eat a Caesar salad.
because of the dressing.
Okay.
Like if it's coming with seizure,
but I just put that on the side
and then I'll just eat the lettuce
without anything else.
Well, you also don't like frosting.
I know that.
I don't like frosting on cake.
Which is why, like,
cheesecake is a favorite for you.
Cheesecake is my,
oh my goodness,
it's so good.
But like,
like there was cookies up here this week
with icing on them.
Like, guys,
you just ruined,
that's just gross.
Well, I knew you didn't like
cake or cupcake icing.
So you also don't like cookies
no.
But you like regular cookies.
Yeah, regular cookies are fine.
But when you throw the icing on it's like,
it just takes away.
So it's really like the extra add-ins that you don't like.
Yeah, I'm weird.
It's like the things people add, like the extra sauces and you don't dip your fries in anything?
Barbecue sauce.
So you like barbecue sauce.
Yeah, but I don't really like fries.
Usually I will get the substitute, whatever you can get for instead of fries, I'll get that.
Like at Chick-fil-A, I get fruit instead of fries.
At Wendy's, you can get chili instead of fries.
So even in the middle of the sale instead of the fries.
This is interesting because I literally just have this debate on my Instagram because of my boyfriend.
because of my boyfriend and I, we went and grabbed food.
And I was like, you always like want fries.
Like fries are the best thing ever.
And he's like, no, I'd rather have hummus.
And I was like, that doesn't make any sense.
So in a situation of hummus or fries, would you choose hummus?
Hummus.
If there is an option.
Oh, my gosh.
There's like 50 of you in the world because like I put it on a poll on my Instagram and
there's like only 50 people that chose hummus compared to like thousands that chose
fries.
Yeah.
But you and my boyfriend are the same in that fact that you would choose hummus over
fries. I just don't get fries. I think they're overrated. People love them and I'm just like,
man, they're just not that good guys. And they're good for about 10 seconds. And once they get cold,
nah, you might as well just throw them out of the window. You know what? If they're like stringy fries,
yes. But if they're like steak fries, they actually do really good heated up. See, I just,
I'm not, fries are weird to me. Like I just don't, I'm like, oh, whatever.
That's so interesting to me because that literally just happened. And now I have two people in my life
that are hummus over fries and I don't appreciate it.
I mean, it's not that hummus is the most amazing.
So I started dating my wife.
I had no idea what hummus was.
Yeah, you've become a foodie in your adult age.
I've learned different things that I didn't know.
Like, hummus, like, I didn't get it.
But it's cool.
Like, it's cool now.
I'm like, oh, yeah, I know what that is.
That's neat.
And, you know, I've had before, we had the other night, we went to a, we ordered
Greek food.
Yeah.
And they have something like whipped feta.
Oh my gosh, you've never had whipped feta before?
I know what that was.
So good.
And so we ordered something the night and I was like, oh, this is pretty good.
and so feta is a cheese if you don't know
I knew I found that out.
Yeah but it's like whipped up
and sometimes I put like honey or different life.
Yeah, it was like it had honey on there
and I was like oh this is pretty good guys like I don't know what this.
Because she's like I'll get this thing of whipped fetta and I was like what?
Whip what?
You're going to whip my what?
And she was like no, whip feta.
And I was like okay and we ordered it.
Okay, I'll give her ass credit.
That's good.
Yeah.
Well at least you're trying things right.
Yeah, yeah.
But another thing I don't eat tomatoes.
I didn't like tomatoes until about the last two years.
Really? Even being a vegetarian, you've got to like everything.
No, oh no. I hate, honestly, I was a worst vegetarian lunch.
Like I would eat. Was or wait, you quit?
No, I'm still a vegetarian. I was saying like I used to be like a worst vegetarian.
Because all I would eat is like cheese pizza, grilled cheese, cheese, cheese cascadias, like nothing healthy. Right?
I never, I hated vegetables. Yeah, that's not good.
And then as I got older, now I eat so many different things that I never thought was ever going to be possible.
But I love tomatoes. I used to hate tomatoes. And now I eat them.
on my sandwiches.
Oh, no.
See on my sandwiches I put
cheese, pickles.
There you go.
Cheese pickles and meat.
That's it.
We're like the polar opposite
and the fact that like you don't put
anything on but like I don't put any meat on
so it looks like I don't have anything on.
It's like cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, black olives,
mayo, mustard.
It's like all the extra.
Yeah, you know what another thing?
It's wasted you put it on a sandwich or a burger.
You know what's a waste?
What?
Lettuce.
Why do you put that on there?
You don't like lettuce?
It just adds like a little freshness layer.
I just tastes like cardboard
I'm learning so much
It just tastes like cardboard
Like why put that on there
Get that on there
Oh man
Okay so you do have a foodie tape
You have
An expensive palate
But like
I mean I don't know if I have an expensive
palette
But I have a
Like I've tried new foods
And I'm like oh that's pretty cool
Yeah but you like like new foods
But like you don't like basics
Yeah
Because like lettuce, tomatoes
Mushrooms
Condiments
Don't like mushrooms either
Yeah
Those are I feel like people
are either like love it or hate it.
Yeah.
Olives.
You like avocados.
Oh, yeah.
Avocados.
I didn't like those until like the last few years.
Dang, you were a terrible vegetarian.
I mean, I bet your mom wanted to crush you.
Oh, both of them, yeah.
Yeah.
I guess your dad too.
For my meals, I would often get made mac and cheese with mashed potatoes and bread
and butter.
Hey, okay.
Did you ever have a sugar sandwich?
No.
Okay.
But I, well, but I, I didn't know what that was either.
My mom asked me the other night, hey, like, did you guys ever have sugar sandwiches?
What is it?
It's just bread and sugar, I guess.
I don't know because she was talking about she saw it somewhere on TV or something.
And she was like, people were talking about, oh, I remember.
And she was like, I don't remember.
Well.
And I didn't know what that was.
I did have, like, cinnamon sugar.
So, like, I would toast.
It wouldn't be just like plain bread.
Oh, I know what you're saying.
Yeah, but like you toast some bread.
And then put some butter and then cinnamon sugar.
Oh, my gosh.
I do think it was a thing in the Midwest.
You just took me back.
Right.
Oh, that's so good.
So good.
So healthy too.
So healthy.
You would have like the little container in the cabinet that was specifically cinnamon
and sugar.
Yeah, she would mix it up.
You didn't like, yeah, it was like always ready.
Yeah.
In our household, it was an old butter container.
Like we cleaned out the butter container and then we put that, we mixed it in there and
you shake it up.
And then it goes from like you pour the sugar in first and then the cinnamon on top and then
you shake it up and it mixes.
Oh man.
Guys, let me tell you, you never had that.
If you ever do peanut butter toast
Did you ever do peanut butter toast?
I like peanut butter toast with honey, yeah.
Okay.
But if you put butter on there and then peanut butter,
oh my God.
Why are you putting two butters on there?
Well, it's a different butter.
Oh, can you put you like two butter?
No, no.
Like, I mean.
The peanut butter is supposed to like fill in for the butter lunchbox.
No, no, I understand it's not as healthy, but it is, um, good.
Okay.
I might try both of those again this weekend.
Well, I'll try yours for the first time, but like, I mean,
That's what you should do.
You should put it on the wheel and spin it and be like,
oh, what am I eating today?
Am I eating cinnamon sugar sandwich?
Am I eating cinnamon sugar or am I eating peanut butter and butter?
I do not need to bring that negativity of a spinning wheel into my life lunchbox.
And it can stay for my personal life.
That's how we should make our decisions in life from now on.
No longer coin flips.
Just spin a wheel.
No, because when the wheel spins, it gives me so much anxiety.
And then wherever you're at, you have to tell people,
let's spin that.
You just have people like randomly all across the country like spinning wheels all the time.
Like, all right, hello, sir, ma'am.
Welcome to Cheddars.
What are we going to do tonight?
Hold on.
Let me spin this wheel.
Looks like I'm going with the grilled catfish.
All right.
Oh my gosh.
Servers and, you know, people in the hospitality industry would hate us.
Oh, sir, you're in the hospital today.
What are you here to see us for?
Oh, hold on.
Let me spin that wheel.
Oh, it's my left foot.
Oh my gosh.
Funny concept.
I think you should do it for a week.
I don't know if I can carry that wheel around.
No, but like a small...
And like the different numbers,
and then you list out what the numbers are.
I really feel like we should make that happen.
It's like a thing for you.
I like that.
I'll pitch that for you.
No, I'm pitching that for you.
No, no, I'm pitching it for you.
I called it first.
Okay, well, it was your idea, so I'm not going to take that from you.
Oh, man.
Well, you can hear a spin the wheel in this incident.
and, you know, it was during this week, this incident.
You can hear it Spend the Wheel this week, but while you listen to the segment,
go get you some cinnamon sugar toast because I'm telling you, glorious.
Number five.
All right, so all these kids are wearing this big cat tail to school where the school's like,
why are you guys dressing like cats?
So, and it hangs down to, you know, that spot behind your knee that bends,
that bendy spot back there behind your knee.
Yeah.
The tail kind of hangs there.
a jumboon foe furtale.
It's basically for a cosplay if you're going to be a cat.
And I'm going to spin the wheel.
I won't want the stripes too, Mike.
That looks like kind of like a raccoon.
Like Tigger?
Yes.
Cool.
I'm going to spin the wheel.
Awesome.
Do you guys want to do who it lands on or do you want to peel them off?
I don't.
Peel them off.
Okay.
If it lands on you, you come off the wheel.
Yes, please.
I like that.
Okay.
The last person remaining has to wear this tiger's tail everywhere they go for two days.
Mio, meo, meo, meo, meo, meo, meo, meo.
Embarrassing.
Two whole days, you gotta wear it.
Here we go, friends.
Let's spin that wheel.
Come on.
Let's go.
Morgan, you were off the wheel.
We should have done land on.
I feel like my cat is going to be very confused at home.
Oh, like follow you around?
Yes.
She's just going to think you're a cat.
Morgan is now off the wheel.
Good job, Morgan.
Let's spin.
That we don't know.
Come on, come on, come on.
Next up, Mike D is off the wheel.
Oh, wow.
Good job, Mike D.
All right, this wheel.
This is not landing on me.
It's not.
This wheel hates me.
Putting it to the universe.
Read the names that are still on the wheel.
Eddie, Amy, Bobby, lunchbox, Raymundo.
I lose more wheels than anybody else, just for the record.
Is that true?
Yes.
I don't.
No.
Let's spin that wheel!
Come on.
Let's go, Eddie.
Eddie.
Breathe.
Yeah!
Let's go!
Meow!
Meow!
Meow!
What are you doing?
Okay, okay.
Woo!
No, you're like, you're not a cat anymore.
I know.
Okay.
Lunchbox is off the wheel.
Woo-hoo!
There's a lot of empty spaces too.
Yeah, what do we do there?
You just re-spin it?
Okay.
Cool.
Let's spin that wheel!
Please.
Come on, ma.
Please.
Oh, oh, all right.
Empty space.
Okay.
Okay.
Yes, yes, yes, yes.
Oh, here we go, here we go.
Oh, yeah.
Come on, come on.
Hit me.
Hit me.
Come.
Empty space.
Oh, basically me.
No, empty space.
Basically, you don't count.
That's not how it works, Amy.
Come on, baby.
Come on, baby.
Redmond, Redmond, my God.
So now it's between Amy, Eddie, Bobby.
Okay, okay.
Okay.
Wow.
Who do we want to lose?
The problem is.
Yeah, that we're still on there.
Is that there's so many empty spaces now.
I feel like it's going to take a minute, yeah.
You wake over there?
You're yawning in the middle of a segment?
I didn't think this is boring, Amy?
No.
I don't.
No.
Go and get you nap.
Come back later?
No.
A little cat nap?
Yeah.
Good one.
Come on, Amy.
All right, let's spin the wheel.
Three names are left, me, Amy.
Hit it.
Oh.
Oh, wow! Yes!
Oh, no.
Oh, boy.
Bones.
Oh, boy.
I knew it.
You got, I put that out into the universe.
Okay, well, then let me do that then.
Oh, do it.
I'm doing it now.
Do it, Eddie?
Okay.
It's not going to land on me.
It's not going to land on me.
They win or they lose?
Like, you know what I'm saying?
You want to flip a coin for it?
No.
No, no.
Same thing.
You want it to land on you.
Okay.
You want it to land on you.
You want it to land on you.
Man, I'm trying to think who I want it to land on.
Who I wanted to land on.
Lose or where's the cat tail for two days?
Here we go.
Let's spin the wheel!
Come on, man on Bobby.
Out the universe.
Land on Bobby.
Let Eddie wear the tail.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah!
And it landed on me!
It works!
I told you guys I lose the wheel more than anybody.
That's what you put out into the universe and that's what you got.
It was your idea?
No, it was as Mike Deas.
Oh.
Oh, wow.
Where are you gonna go in your cat tail?
Everywhere.
You better not stay home.
I think Caitlin's gonna be like, rare.
I don't.
I think she's gonna be like, what, what?
Is she gonna be, what if she's oddly really attracted to you
with your cat too?
Amy gets all into like, she goes,
kinky and sexy immediately with any other.
I know.
Yeah, no, what do you know?
You just did.
You went rare, and then you went, what if she's into you?
Like, really into you.
Yeah.
All right.
Order that thing, Mike.
Let me know when it's then I'll wear it for two days.
Express delivery?
Yeah.
I think Bezos himself.
It's the best bits of the week with Morgan number two.
We had Taylor Acorn on the show, and she performed her song, like the movies.
She also talked about all the TikTok videos she does and the inspiration behind that song.
So give this a listen.
She's a new artist that Bobby loves, and she is awesome.
Number four.
On the Bobby Bone Show now.
Taylor Acorn.
Taylor is one of my favorite new artists in Nashville, and you came in once with a bunch of TikTok people, right?
I did.
Yeah.
And then you had, I think, like, 80 or 90,000 TikTok followers.
Now you have over 200,000.
Yeah.
What are you doing on TikTok that's working so well, do you think?
Honestly, just putting out covers of songs that I love, it's been really cool because it's, like, hitting almost like a new vein of people that I never thought I would.
All of, like, the old school emo kids like me.
So, I mean, I don't know, just putting out songs that I love, and I don't know, it's been taken off, I guess.
We play you a lot, and I'll put you on the Women of I Heart Country, the national show that we do.
And you get such a great response.
Oh, thank you.
And you have this song that we've put in called Like the Movies, which is your song.
It's mine, yeah.
Yeah, did you write that one?
I did.
So tell me about that.
You walk into the room, and who do you write it with, and what's kind of the idea behind it?
I actually wrote that one by myself.
Wow.
Yeah, so I was sitting in my living room.
It was like mid-COVID and just kind of reflecting on a lot of past situations, relationships in my life and just things that have happened.
I talk about the first my dad passed away when I was really young and kind of seeing my mom go through situations from when I was young until growing up in relationships.
And I was like, you know, this is kind of a cool concept that I don't think I've ever really touched on.
and I had never really told a bunch of people that I had been in that situation.
So just kind of sat there with myself and was like, I'm going to write a song and wrote the chorus,
thought it was really cool, took it to my producer, Andrew, and we just kind of, we finished it up,
and now it's like the movies, and you guys play it, which is really awesome.
I know you have your guitar with you.
Would you mind plan us some of, like the movies?
Yeah, of course.
Taylor Acorn is here as she prepares herself.
Follow her on Instagram
At Taylor Acorn Music
And she has a different TikTok name
Which messes me up here
At Taylor Acorn 1
But here is
Like the Movies from Taylor Acorn
When no one comes to say
It's not to be
But it's not
Because it's real
Love ain't like the movies
You can't save it with a song
It ain't one big happy
And when you will
Wake up and it's all gone.
It just keeps going.
Love ain't like the movies.
Taylor Acorn.
That's so good.
Thank you.
And it is such, the perspective is so true.
And so many people can appreciate that honestly.
Thank you.
Taylor will be out with us on Saturday and Sunday.
And come and watch her perform because as you can hear, she is so good.
You can follow her on Instagram or TikTok.
I do have some of your TikTok clips because you do what's called emo countries.
You're a country artist, but you also do emo songs, like from back in the day, which is fun.
Here is a clip of her doing Gougu Doll's Iris.
I would stream this as this.
This is such a good version of it.
I think the first song I ever played of Taylor's was a cover, a Matchbox 20 cover.
Yeah, it was unwell.
Yeah.
I'm not crazy.
I'm just a little unwell.
And I played that on the female shows.
I guess I've like secretly, even to myself, been a massive Taylor Acorn fan for a long.
time. Who knew?
Here is Unwell.
This is Taylor's Matchbox 20 cover.
Yeah, I'm not crazy.
I'm just a little unwell.
I know right now you can't tell.
But stay.
Did you get made fun of as a kid for the last name, Acorn?
Um, I mean, not really made fun of more so people would be like, oh, you're a nut.
Or like, I ran track in college.
And my coach would always say Taylor Squirrel.
I don't know why. He thought it was so funny.
But I would get little
like things like that or Taylor, walnut,
you know, everybody.
I mean, I guess it's hard to make fun of the name,
Acorn. It's kind of cool. It's like, I love that.
Acorn spice countertop spray.
Well, my best friend growing up was named Michael Pinecone.
And he always, I'm just kidding, it wasn't.
Stop.
I was going to say, you never know.
Listen, Taylor, I'm a massive fan.
So thank you for performing for us.
And then thank you for coming out this weekend.
And people can come out to
New Bronfels between Austin and San Antonio and watch Taylor perform on Saturday and then on Sunday at Bobby Fest in Wichita, Kansas.
And so I think we're going to have you up on one of the nights, too.
Did you know that?
We already talked to you about that?
I think they did mention it.
On the big state?
I've been trying to.
We'll leave it there.
Yeah.
I've been trying to process.
Well, we can't wait to see it perform live and you guys come out to Bobby Fest or go follow Taylor Acorn or stream her music.
It's the best bits of the week with Morgan number two.
You know, there's so much happening in the world right now.
And with Pimp and Joy, we've got to do a lot of really cool things
and help a lot of different causes of things that are happening right now,
like the floods and Waverly, Tennessee, Hurricane Ida,
everybody who's been impacted by that,
the 13 American heroes that lost their lives.
There's a lot of things happening.
And Pimp and Joy is, you know, actively watching everything
to do what they can to help in all of those areas.
And Bobby and Amy really talked about it this week
and how difficult things have been.
So after you listen to it,
go to the shopforward.com slash pimpingjoy
and buy something on there.
And, you know, it will go all of those proceeds.
Number three, Bobby's Big.
Stories.
I mean, part of the reason I'm so tired
that stayed up late last night watching a lot of Ida footage,
a lot of coverage.
Here are some things you need to know.
Number one, Hurricane Ida made landfall
around noon yesterday as a category four hurricane.
That's less than 100 miles.
from New Orleans is where it hit.
Category 4 hurricanes have sustained winds
between 130 and 156 miles per hour.
It came very close to be in a category 5.
In a tragic coincidence yesterday
was the 16th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.
Around 1 million people have been without power,
including all of New Orleans,
and flash flood emergencies have been declared.
I had a week into a category 3
around 6 p.m. yesterday last night or so.
Then it dropped to a category 2, around 9 p.m.
Last night, the storm surge was so intense yesterday that it stopped the flow of the Mississippi River near New Orleans and actually caused the flow to reverse, which is extremely uncommon.
Overnight, more than 200 people scrambled to get to higher ground after a levee failed in Jefferson Parish about an hour outside of New Orleans.
Last night, and this is the newest news that we have, the first death was reported.
Someone was killed by a falling tree.
And obviously, this is scary time for anyone who's medically impacted by the first.
hurricane because the hospitals were already packed full with COVID patients.
I mean, that part's devastating.
They were so slammed with COVID patients it couldn't move them.
Yeah.
Honestly, I mean, I was watching things like as needs start to roll in.
They don't know really where they're even going to take them.
I mean, just it's so, such a vulnerable time.
So here's what we're doing right now.
You know, we have this line called Pippin' Joy.
We don't ever take a dollar.
Never taking a cent from Pippenjoy.
And if you would like something with all the money that we, you know, make from this, it goes to that.
So we're going to work as of today and, you know, we pivot as we know what's needed.
We don't even know right now where we're going to send that money.
But what will happen over the next couple days, there will be needs where people go, hey, we need this.
We need this for these people.
And that's where we kind of hop in.
But we don't want to sit here, even though we don't know exactly what to do and not do anything.
So if you go to bobbybones.com, we'll put the link up.
And if you want to get anything that is pimping joy up on the site, that will go toward that.
Yeah, I would say just know if you're wearing something Pimpin Joy, it's about spreading joy to others.
And that's exactly what we need to do right now.
And just think if you were in this situation, like knowing that others across the country were rallying together to support you would feel pretty awesome.
So that's what we can do.
Yeah.
So again, you want something?
We're going to take all that money.
And we're going to send it down.
We're going to figure out what they need.
Thank you, bobby bones.com
It's the best bits of the week
with Morgan number two.
This week on the show
everybody shared their first and best concerts.
You know lunch.
My first ever concert was one of my best.
Hold on, hold on up.
It had to be Shania Twain.
Yes.
I knew that.
In her leopard outfit, she touched my hand.
I will never forget that.
How were you that close in your first concert?
I told you my parents were huge.
country music fans. They still are.
Still huge fans. Goodness.
And so, like, my whole life has been around country music.
And, I mean, I grew up in Kansas, right?
Like, everybody listens to country music there.
And...
I doubt everybody does.
No, but majority.
It's a very popular genre.
I'm just saying, you said everyone...
You're right. You're right.
I know you weren't being literal.
No, but you right.
You're being another one.
I appreciate it.
You're being figural.
Figurative.
Figurative.
What about figural?
Figural.
I don't like that word better.
Literal.
It had to be the opposite.
Figural.
But yes.
Yeah. Shaniah was my first epic moment.
That's incredible that you were that close.
How old were you?
Oh, gosh.
I mean, talk about not remembering things like five maybe, four or five.
You remember it because you touched her.
Or do you remember it because your parents tell you you touched her?
Both.
Like I have vivid memories of that moment, but like not a lot of that.
And then my parents like have reiterated it.
So like it comes back.
Does that make sense?
Yes.
I mean the closest.
I ever sat when I was a kid.
I was a big wrestling fan.
And it was the WWF back then.
Not the WWE.
Right.
Okay.
And so they were coming to the Austin and for Christmas.
My parents got me two tickets and I was like, yeah.
And we were like fifth or sixth row.
And we had never been to anything like this this close.
And so when the Bushwhackers came out, they came out with their,
arms, top it.
Hold on.
The Bushwhackers are a team because I totally just thought you met an alcoholic beverage.
No, no, they were a tag team.
They were a tag team.
Look them up, Google them on your computer.
The Bushwhackers.
And if you can look up a video on how they walk out, they do their arms like, ah,
and they have bald heads, and I rubbed one of their heads.
And I thought I was the coolest kid in the world.
And we sat there in the fourth or fifth row and watched it.
And every time they whack, they hit him each other.
You know, like the wrestlers, they would spit.
And my dad, I remember him walking into the house afterwards and telling my mom,
we are never sitting that close again because they spit the entire time.
And I was like, it was so awesome because I remember one, dude, it was up there.
It was maybe in Mr. Perfect and Dusty Rhodes or someone.
And he kept pulling down in the back of his shorts and you'd see his butt.
It was so funny.
And how old were you?
I was like eight.
Okay.
Like everything was very exciting.
Oh, that is so freaking.
cool. I mean, it was the coolest thing ever. Did you find the bushwhackers? Yes, I did. They're
interesting looking. Very intense. But I run one of their heads. I don't know which one of their
bald heads. Yeah, one of their bald heads. Ah! I was like, yeah, it's like, yeah, it's just,
well, yeah, you were eight years old. I know, I'm just letting you know. I'm just like, you know,
I mean, we, there's a lot of times. Yeah, yeah. I know, I know. But yes, it was like, it was the
coolest moment ever. And one time we went to wrestling and we were sitting up her deck or whatever,
and it was my brother, my dad, and me, and we walk in the house, and we get back, and my mom's like, how was it?
My brother goes, first thing he says, well, I know wrestling's fake, and I walk in 10 seconds after him.
And my mom's like, how is, how was it?
And I was like, oh, my gosh, mom, now I know wrestling is so real.
Like, it is amazing.
Even though, like, full well knowing.
My mom talks about it all the time about how, I mean, 10 seconds before that, my brother
come in goes, well, now I know wrestling's fake.
And I come in like, oh, my gosh, now it confirms that wrestling is real.
Isn't that so funny how you guys had such different perspectives?
Well, because he was two years older than me, so it's crazy in two years the difference it makes of knowing wrestling is real and wrestling is fake or whatever.
Yeah.
Well, you're just seeing everything for the excitement, you know, like he's seeing it for what it is.
You're seeing it as excitement.
You're like, this is just awesome.
Everything about this is awesome.
You're not watching for all the moments that don't look real.
Exactly.
It was awesome.
And it's pretty cool.
and that was the closest I ever sat
to anything. But yes, that was
I mean, fourth row or fifth row
at wrestling. I never sat that close
at a concert. Never at a concert,
but at wrestling. Yeah. I mean,
later in- It sounds like it was worth it, though.
Oh, it's so worth it. Later in life, I've sat in close
at concerts just because of our job.
But I've never been able to buy
a ticket that close anywhere
in my life. Well, and to be fair, though,
buying tickets back then was a lot easier than it is now.
Buying tickets is like a whole,
it's like a stampede on the internet.
Well, yeah, it used to.
You had to go wait in line.
You had to go to Ticketmaster and be there right when they open when they go on sale or else you didn't get tickets.
Now it's like, oh, you just got to be the computer internet has to be the right click of a button.
Yes, and you're waiting in virtual waiting rooms.
Yes.
And then there's an overlog and then you don't get in.
And you're competing with scammers on the internet, like a whole thing.
There's scammers on the internet?
Yes.
Oh, you mean scalpers.
This reminds me.
I would like to talk about this moment that I have not brought up on the show.
Oh.
Is you and your iPhone and when I helped you get a case in a thing?
Yeah, I still haven't put it on yet.
Lunchbox.
No, no.
Okay, hold on.
Let me tell the story.
Oh, gosh.
Because this is arguably one of my favorite stories.
Okay, good.
Not even because, like, anything bad.
It's just like it was hilarious.
Everything about it was funny.
Hit me with it.
Hit me.
Okay, so Lunchbox was having a problem with a,
phone, right? He was taking pictures and he was like, it's blurry. I don't understand why this keeps
happening. So blurry. Like I have a new phone. So terrible. Yeah, so bad. And I look at it and I look
at his phone and I'm like, Lunchbox, you have a case that's covering the camera lens. It's called
life proof. Because I know I wanted something that would cover the whole phone because if I drop it,
I don't want to break it. And here's the thing. I know I'm going to drop it. I know my kids
are going to get a hold of it and drop it. So I'm not going to leave my screen unprotected.
You know what I mean?
You always use protection.
You're not wrong.
Exactly.
But in doing so, you didn't realize that you had literally covered the entire phone.
I bought.
How many?
Probably four.
Because it works great for a while for a few months.
And then all of a sudden the camera gets really blurry and I'm like, ah.
Because you were forgetting to clean the part of the case that had film over it.
No, I'm still, I clean it.
Yeah, but not like with your finger.
He's cleaning it with his finger right now.
I wipe it off of my shirt too.
Anyways, so he bought like four of these same cases
because he was like,
I don't understand why my camera keeps going blurry.
I think I need to take it in.
I was like, no, it is the case.
You need a new case,
and you can get a screen protector
so you can have a case that doesn't cover your camera.
And I literally think I watched Lunchbox feel so mind-blown
that that was a possibility.
Yeah, I didn't know about that.
That was the first part.
Yeah, well, because I saw the cases,
but none of them had the protection for the front.
And I'm not only using half protection.
Like if I'm going to go,
I need full protection at all times.
Yes.
So we set you up.
We went and got Lunchbox a case.
Otterbox.
Otterbox case.
It's like, you know,
a hearty protection and a screen protector that he can put on.
So if he drops his phone,
it doesn't crack.
Correct.
So,
but in the midst of ordering these,
lunchbox is so sure of the phone that he has, right?
This new phone.
We got to have a new,
iPhone. That's all I know is I have a new iPhone. And so... And I should, to be fair, I should have made him double check to be like, okay, what year it was, but I was just trusting that lunchbox knew what kind of new phone he got. And so I ordered an iPhone 12 Pro case. Boom, all done. Let's go. I am now in the Otterbox family and I'm about to dominate the world with my protection. And then I order it and 10 minutes later, M2 is looking at my phone and she says,
lunchbox you chose the wrong phone and I'm like no no what do you mean she goes you have an iPhone 11
so then lunchbox had to go buy a new honor box case can I say the frustrating no no no I'm going to
you the frustrating thing about that okay yeah yeah so I call them immediately I called them in one case
I ordered iPhone 12 because I didn't realize what phone I had and he's like oh yeah yeah that's still
in the processing thing let me just go ahead and cancel that and then I'll do iPhone 11
Cool. Oh, you're all set, man. You know, I cancel that iPhone 12 case. iPhone 11 should be coming.
Well, smash cut five days later, guess what shows at my house?
The iPhone 12 case. iPhone 12 case and iPhone 11 case. So I've been charged for both cases.
Did you ever figure it out? You get sent back?
No, I got to call them because I don't know how to send it back because I don't know if I'm supposed to open it and then send it back or it has to be unopened and send it back.
Yes, you always, you never open something.
And so, but I don't know which one's the iPhone 11 or which ones the iPhone 12.
It says it on the on the case team. Bring them in a tool.
to work and I'll help you.
No, no, no.
I meant the package.
I haven't opened either one.
Oh, the box?
No, no, no.
I haven't even opened the mail.
Like they're both still in the thing they came in.
Yeah, like the box or the packaging.
Yeah, because I didn't know if I was supposed to open it or if I wasn't supposed to open it
and mail it back.
And I'm just like, like, bro, like do your job.
Like how terrible are you at your job that I literally called you two, not two, maybe 12 minutes after I ordered it and you told me, oh, it's all taken care of.
Don't worry.
I took that one off, canceled it.
Yeah.
Oh, like, that's a demerit.
Like, I should call and complain and, like, put a negative review on Yelp because that is just so bad.
It's so frustrating because now I got to go through the process of paying for postage and going to this store and mailing it back and so annoying.
Well, a few things here.
First of all, it is your fault to begin with because you didn't know what phone you had.
So you can't be too mad at M.
Yeah, but.
Hold on.
Okay, go ahead.
Two, you won't have to pay for posting.
and they will pay for it to get it back to them.
And three, did you know that you could also just put it on the porch with some organizations now
and they come and pick it up for you?
You don't have to take it anywhere?
What do you mean?
So like Amazon, I've had to return things and they'll be like, oh, do you want to take in the storage
or just leave it on your porch for somebody come get it?
I can leave it on my porch for somebody come get it.
I like that a lot better.
Right?
Yeah.
So that might be an option.
You can do that with the ARC also.
The ARC?
Yeah, it's like donating to charity.
Oh, yeah.
They come get your stuff.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
I didn't. Hey, the more you know.
The more you know.
But yeah, so you can't be too mad.
I mean, no, I was pretty annoyed.
I was pretty annoyed.
Now then my question for you is, do I put the case on and then the screen protector
or do you put the screen protector on then the case?
Screen protector and then the case.
Got it.
But make sure, bring it in.
We will do it together.
Okay.
I will help you with your fun.
I just had to share the story because it wasn't even a make fun of a moment.
It was just such an interesting moment.
And it's something that I think a lot of people can relate to because, like, it's hard to figure it out.
Especially when you don't know what you're doing.
Listen, I just, that's why I always was like, just give me a case that does everything.
I just want one protection.
I know.
And I don't need more.
I know.
But I don't want you to have to keep worrying about dirty photos because.
I mean, my photos are so terrible.
Like, right now.
Yeah, Luxbox had like an iPhone 11 with like iPhone 2 photos is what was happening.
Like, look at that picture.
That's a picture I took on my phone.
You can't even read it.
It's blurry.
It's, yeah.
Like it looks like you took it on a flip phone.
That's how bad these photos are because of the screen on the on the camera.
So if you're having similar issues, holler at your girl.
Yeah, holler at your girl.
Don't holler at me because I have no idea.
I just know you need protection.
That's all I know.
That's all I know.
And so I found the one protection that protected everything at one time.
You did.
And we figured it out.
That's okay.
But before we go, because I loved that conversation.
And that story was just one of my favorites recently.
but I want to know
oh here I'll share the
second part of my best concert was Bruno Mars
oh dude he's fantastic
you ever get a chance to him go see him
if you ever get a chance to go see Bruno Mars
do not miss
your chance
and unfortunately I paid a lot of money for those tickets
fortunately I've never had to pay for Bruno Mars
tickets but
fantastic I saw him
New Year's Eve in Las Vegas at the
Cosmopolitan and I'm going to tell you
what the place was rocking.
He was so good.
Like top tier performer.
Top tier.
Not even just artists, but like top tier performer.
The whole band up there dancing and just, oh, they were just, it was great.
It was great.
Yes.
Great one.
Oh, so great.
Reiterating yours, Eminem and J.C.
Yankee Stadium.
Opening B-O-B.
It's forever a favorite of yours.
The brand new Yankee Stadium, first event at Yankee Stadium.
Oh, it was so great.
And I can see that for sure.
And let me tell you about the dude in front of me, okay?
Oh boy.
How do you still remember this?
Wasn't this concert like years ago?
Yeah.
Okay.
And he was going hard.
Like he was just going crazy with B-O-B, yeah.
He was drinking, going hard, doing other things.
B-O-B, yeah.
He's like, can't wait for Eminem, can't wait for J-Z, drinking more beers, doing some other stuff.
and by the time Eminem got on the stage second
he was passed out in his chair.
Was he drinking a lot?
He's drinking a lot and some other things?
Yeah.
Recreational activity.
Yeah, recreational activity.
So he literally missed Jay-Z.
He missed because Eminem was next after B-O-B passed out in his chair.
Jay-Z passed out in his chair.
He only saw B-O-B.
That is it.
a small artist at the time.
Yes.
He was there for Jay-Z and Eminem and he saw none of it.
None of it.
Have you ever missed a concert because you were a little too intoxicated?
No, not that I can remember.
I got one.
What?
Country Stampede, Manhattan, Kansas.
It's a country festival several days and you go camping and stuff, right?
Yeah.
Naturally, you're day drinking.
and you're consuming
edit there, sorry Steve.
You're consuming like so much alcohol
and you're partying all day
but the concerts are at night.
There's some during the day,
but the big concerts are night.
And my friends, their parents were there
and they had an RV parked there for camping.
And the only person I wanted to see all weekend
was Zach Brown band.
The only person.
Because everybody else I had already seen.
But I wanted to see Zach Brown man.
And what do you know?
Morgan gets a little too drunk and passes out in the RV right when Zach Brown Man was on.
Oh.
And I miss the entire thing.
It's not good.
I was so bummed.
Yeah, one year we went to bait.
That was a life lesson for me.
Yeah, you got to learn your, learn your tolerance.
I learned.
Well, again, I was super young.
I was right out of college.
I know.
I'm just joking.
It's really, it happened.
But yes.
Like, it was a life lesson for me.
I was like, I never want to feel that way again because I'm,
miss something that I wanted to see. I've seen them since, thankfully. But like, I learned a big lesson.
At that point in your life, you're like, oh my gosh, that's going to be the only opportunity I ever
had to see Zach Brown Band. But you never know. You never know what life's going to throw. You never
know because we were, one year, Barry Manilow. I think that's his name. Yeah, that's a guy. That's an
artist. But you're not sure if it's, he's older, yeah, for sure. Barry Mano. You want me
show you a picture? Yeah, it may not have been Barry Manelow. Maybe it was Barry Manelow.
did he do something with Lady Gaga?
Maybe.
Okay.
Well, I think Barry Manilow and Lady Gaga were playing in Las Vegas one New Year's.
Yeah, he's in Las Vegas.
And my buddy Ryan has wanted to go.
And he was like, dude, we've got to go to this.
So we got a big group.
And we're like, all right, let's go.
And so we go, we got tickets, everything.
We're ready to go.
And we start playing blackjack earlier in the day.
And one thing leads to another.
And we have been drinking for hours.
and this is the entire reason we went on the trip.
And it was because Ryan was like,
I want to go see Lady Gaga and Barry Mantleau on New Year's.
Okay, cool.
Well, let's just say Ryan had a little bit too much a drink at the blackjack table,
spilled two different drinks on the blackjack table.
Okay, two, not one, but two.
That's a lot of spilling.
Separate instances.
Separate instances.
We both can't say that word.
Instances.
And so, needless.
let's say, when we were at Barry Manilow and Lady Gaga,
he had locked himself in his bathroom in the cosmopolitan
because he was looking at the porcelain god for hours upon hours, upon hours,
and he missed the concert.
He had bought a nice, like, so I don't even know what you call it.
Real bright and flashy sports coat.
He was ready to go.
He missed it.
All of it.
Not even like.
Oh, he didn't even get there for a second of it.
Like didn't even get there for a second of it.
Oh, man.
Okay, that reminds me.
Are you ready for another one?
Yeah.
Oh, you'll even more.
Yeah, I got another one.
Well, again, in college, right?
Okay.
So my graduation day, all my family's in town.
I graduated a year early, so all of my friends are there to celebrate with me.
And we all go partying through my big graduation party the night before my graduation.
I had the graduation that was 8 a.m.
Oh.
Okay.
So it is.
is a known thing with me that when I drink alcohol, whether it is one drink, whether it is 10
drinks, whatever it is, I am throwing up the next morning. It is just part of why I've stopped
drinking as much because like I'm literally allergic to alcohol. But I still continue to drink.
Yeah. I mean, we all make good decisions like that. Terrible. Well, older age, I've learned a lot
of things. Okay. Yeah, you are getting old, 27. I know I am. I'm so old. What are you 28?
October, one month. Yes. I'm getting that. You're almost 30. No, I still about two years.
Is it weird being closer to 30 than you are 20?
Yes.
And I don't want to focus on it.
I'm holding on to my 20s for now.
So yeah, my graduation party, we go out.
Of course, we get crazy.
It's big night, big celebration.
I wake up the next morning.
I am not well, naturally.
It's like 6.30 in the morning.
I was like, I have an hour and a half to pull myself together to be able to walk across
the stage.
Hey, don't pull myself together at all.
And so literally the entire.
time. I somehow managed to get ready, get to the location of my graduation, but the entire time,
thank goodness I had friends. At K-State, do they just having a big barn? No, it's in our huge,
I was just being funny. I know you were, but it's our huge basketball. Yeah, I got to.
Pavilion or whatever, arena, whatever. Arena, yeah, I couldn't find the word. But so literally up until,
you're standing up in the whole like little area waiting to go down. Yeah, right? And so for that
whole hour I am in the toilet, like vomiting in my capping gown, going through it.
I'm like, I get- You can't be the only one.
I was in this moment.
And so like, I'm going through it.
I'm like, I got to get through this.
Like, I don't have much longer before we're walking down and I have to walk downstairs.
And so I have a friend texted me like, hey, we're moving.
So like, I try and finish up and get in line.
And I'm like, this is not good.
I don't feel well.
We walk downstairs.
We're sitting down there, you know, like the guy's talking.
Oh, tell me you had to run out.
Yes.
The guy is talking, okay?
And I'm like, I have to vomit.
I'm sitting in the middle of 500 people.
Please tell me you just grabbed a trash can that is right by the stage.
There was none.
So you know what I did?
They give you little gifts, right?
And I open up this little teeny tiny box.
It's like a card holder is what our gift was.
And I opened it up and I'm ready to vomit in this teeny tiny box
because I don't have anywhere to go and I don't have anything to throw up in.
And so I do.
I vomit in my little teeny tiny box.
I don't know how you got it in the box.
I don't know either.
It would have been all over my cab again.
At this point, like everything was out of me.
It was just like, you know.
Oh my gosh.
So then when we're starting to walk, I'm in line to get my certificate and I was like,
I cannot do this.
I'm going to vomit again.
I run out of line to the side bathroom that I found that I've been scoping out this whole
time.
Go and throw up and then run back in line to people in front of me and I get my thing and I
go sit back down and I'm like, I made it.
I got my certificate.
I look like crap, but I made it across the state.
I need to see your wedding, your graduation photos.
Do you look like a wreck?
The ones after you can visibly tell that my makeup was messed up.
Like, I was not.
It wasn't like bad because thank God.
Did your parents know?
Yes.
Okay.
Because everybody, we were celebrating the night before.
That's funny.
Like, it wasn't like meant to be a bad thing.
It was just like we were celebrating and we were all so excited that we just went
a little too hard.
That's awesome.
That's a great story.
Oh, yeah.
It was so bad though.
Like my friends, my friends from graduation that day still have pictures of me
literally like bobbing you over the toilet
and my cap and gown. That's pretty good. You want
you want to hear an opposite of the
spectrum story? Is it a good story? It's a good story.
My friend Aaron that
we were orientation leaders together
at UTSA. Her graduation day
she goes in, she sits down
and she sits
down next to do some dude because
you know he's graduating too. Never
seen him on campus or whatever. They start talking
and here we are what
15 whatever years later they're married.
Oh my gosh.
Yeah. What? That's how they met. So you're telling me somebody was meeting during graduation, get married, and I was sitting there hugging toilet. Yes. How crazy is that? They graduated with the same type of major, obviously, same department because they're in the graduate and they didn't know each other, didn't have any classes together, happened to sit next to each other at graduation. And like we're talking and start talking and they get married. That is so wild. Crazy, right. That's a cool meeting story. We met a graduation. Yeah, literally just sat next to each other. Did they get a
picture that day by chance?
Ah, I'll have to ask.
I don't remember.
Because it'd be really cool if they had a picture.
Like, hey, I met this random friend.
Let's get a picture.
That's a great question.
I wonder if, and I wonder if like, hey, I got my diploma now.
You want to write your number on my diploma?
Like, what do you?
I need more.
We need an update to this story.
Isn't that great?
That's amazing.
That's a really cool.
Those are pretty funny.
I am really glad that there are positive stories that come on people graduating.
And then my, my graduation.
So I walk out into the UTSA Convocation.
Center and my family just happened to pick a side and pick somewhere to sit and just happen to
be right where I was and I walk out and they stand up and it's everybody's there and they have
a bunch of pictures of me on a stick like my face like from different stages of my life like
if you ever watch pardon the interruption on ESPN they used to do a role play thing where they
have faces on a stick who am I you're Michael Jordan and you put the face in front of you and they
had all of them there.
It was...
From your different years of life.
Yes.
Like embarrassing photos.
Like when I have Captain Crunch
stuck up my nose or like,
you know, just different things.
And it was just,
it was beautiful.
My mom is so creative and it was awesome.
That's amazing.
So if anybody's graduating coming up,
that is a great idea to say.
It's a great idea.
Because then afterwards we all took pictures
and they all had those pictures
and then it's me,
you know what I mean?
And then,
you know,
then we took regular ones.
But yeah,
that was my graduation story,
even though I didn't graduate technically,
but I did walk the stage
and then I was supposed to take the next class in the fall and I never did.
Oh.
But that's okay.
But I got all the pictures and the experiences.
It still technically looks like you graduated.
Yeah.
I walked the station.
You just don't have that very expensive.
They announced my name on the big loud speakers and everything.
And when I got the whole thing, it just there was no diploma in it.
That's the best story.
Oh my gosh.
Okay.
That's so amazing.
Well, thank you for sharing them.
You're welcome.
These are great stories.
Oh, happy Saturday.
Yeah, great Saturday.
Or Sunday or Monday, whenever you're listening to this.
Yeah.
Well, you know,
And before you go, you can listen to everybody shared their first and best concerts and talk about that because that was really what we were talking about.
But the college stories, pretty good.
Yeah, that's very important in life.
Very important.
Number two.
I want to go over and talk to Sarah in Las Vegas.
Sarah, what's happening?
Hey, I am going to see, I went to see Alabama in concert when I was seven years old.
And now I get to go see them again this weekend 40 years later.
Wow.
So I was wondering what you all's first concert was.
I'm hoping to take a sign.
I want to meet them so bad.
So I was wondering what your first concert was,
and if you ever got to meet those performers.
Let's do first and best.
Oh, love it.
Meeting is weird for us because for the most part,
if it's older we got to because of our jobs at this point.
First concert, best concert.
My first was Diamond Rio at Magic Springs theme park
in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
My best, maybe Garth and Little Rock.
Oh, that's so good.
Which was great.
Or maybe John Mayer.
I've seen him a couple times, and I just love John Mayer.
So I'm going to go to that.
You?
My first concert was Amy Grant in Austin, Texas.
And then I have a lot of favorites, but I'm going to go with Taylor Swift 2011
Speak Now Tour when she floated above us in a bird cage.
My first concert was Clinton Black, South Padre Island, and yes, I got to meet him.
But my favorite...
You got to meet him then?
Wow.
Oh, yeah.
We've all got to meet our people since, yes.
And then my favorite concert, of course, in Hawaii, Pearl Jam opens up for you two at a big stadium.
It was my favorite.
First one was Tina Turner in San Antonio with some boring guy named Lionel Richie opening.
And then my best ever was Eminem and JZ at Yankee Stadium.
Thanks to Mr. Bobby Bones getting me tickets.
It was amazing.
So I think three of us met him.
You haven't met any of those people.
And Lionel Richie is not boring.
Lionel Richie's amazing.
He just didn't know any of his music.
Didn't know his music.
His guy sat there and I was like, come on, I'm falling asleep.
That's pretty cool, though.
You get to go see Alabama again.
Yeah.
Because I believe they're doing their 50th anniversary tour right now.
And so they're still out playing.
That's going to be so fun.
I'm so excited.
I can't even take it.
What's the last concert you went to?
I don't go to many concerts anymore.
That would be it.
If I'm not playing it, Counting Crows.
Eddie and I saw Counting Crows.
Yep, so that's ours.
And it was really good.
Awesome.
He sang really good.
And usually he won't sing all of his songs on the right melody.
Because, like, you know the song?
Mr. Joe.
He'd be like, Mr. Jones and me.
And you're like, that's not the same song.
It's hard to sing back to that.
But he actually sang songs the right way.
Last concert.
I'm trying to think it had to have been right before COVID.
Maybe it was Thomas Rhett.
Yeah.
Or Justin Bieber.
Justin Bieber I went to before TR.
But that's crazy.
I mean, that's wild.
I haven't been to a show in that.
that long. Have fun. Sarah, that's awesome. I hope you have a great time. Be safe, okay?
Thank you guys so much. Have a great day. Thank you for the call.
It's the best bits of the week with Morgan number two.
We had Russell Dickerson on the show this week. He came on and talked about being a dad,
his marriage, and of course his song, Home Sweet. It was an awesome interview, so make sure
you listen to it right now.
Number one, the Friday morning conversation with Russell Dickerson.
Russell, what's up, buddy?
Well, what's up, my guy?
Are you home?
No, I'm actually at the beach, writing songs.
Dang.
That's the line.
Like, you have a job where you get to go to work, but you go to work at the beach.
And so, when you do one of these beach songwriting sessions, do you bring out, like, a bunch of your friends?
And how much is songwriting versus beach time?
Honestly, this is my first one.
So I, TBD on all those deeds, but I'm at a friend's house, big songwriter in town.
And he was like, hey, come down to the beach, write some songs.
And so that's what I did.
Does he loan you his house or is he there with you?
Oh, no, he's in on it.
He's here.
He's like, you can use my house, but I want cuts.
Because the weird part for me was, and I feel okay talking about this,
is that Kaila and I were trying to go down to the beach.
There's a place called 30A.
Yeah.
I'd never been down there.
I don't know if that's where you are right now or not.
Are you down? Is that where you are?
Yeah.
Okay.
I'd never been down there.
We had tried to find a place and we couldn't find one.
And Chris Jansen, who I know, goes, hey, why don't you go stay at our place down there?
And I was like, you know, I feel weird staying in someone else's place, period, just because.
And I was like, I don't know if I want to go stay.
And I know Chris well, but I just never want to impose.
And then, like, three times.
I was like, you have to stay here.
So we went and stayed there, but I just felt guilty because, like, if I had to toot in the bed, it's their bed I tut it in.
You know, I literally just thought that this morning.
I was like, did I get out of bed first, or should I just let it go?
It's just there.
Where if it's a hotel, I don't know who owns it.
I don't care.
It's a corporation.
Russell Dickerson is on with us.
I was thinking about you because Olivia Rodriguez just gave Paramore songwriting credit for her song, Good for You.
you that was inspired by misery business. This happens a lot. Is there a song of yours that you would
give your wife songwriting credit to because she inspired it? Oh, I mean, yeah, definitely yours for sure.
I think she definitely deserves some songwriting credit on that. Whenever you guys first started dating,
was it really cool to her when you would write a song about her versus now you're married,
you have a kid where she's like, oh yeah, that's cool. But has that change happened a little bit?
Yeah, I mean, I, yeah, I'm being honest, but she's like, she's into like indie, John Foreman, like acoustic.
So like my music isn't like totally hurt cup of tea.
She likes it, but it's like she's definitely, uh, she can critique a song though.
Like with Love You like I used to, I played it for her.
And she was like, yeah, you didn't nail this one.
And I was like, wow.
And so literally we went back to the drawing board, completely rewrote the entire song.
And she was like, the title of the song.
is better than the song you just played me. So we went back, completely rewrote it, and then
ended up with what you hear now is love you like I used to. I think I'm going to play that first.
Russell Dickerson's on with us. We're going to do Love You like I used to, but what we have is the
original version that sucks. So we're going to play that. I kind of do want to hear that. No, I'm just
kidding. We're going to play this, which by the way, Russell will be at Bobby Fest tomorrow and Sunday,
tomorrow in New Brombles, Texas, and then Sunday in Wichita, Kansas, get tickets at ragingidiots.com.
is love you like I used to.
The Friday morning conversation with Russell Dickerson.
Russ, you're on the cover of Franklin Lifestyles Magazine.
You were also featured on Men's Health magazine.
I was looking at these magazines.
Would you ever post shirtless?
Because you're kind of ripped up.
If they say, hey, I want you to take your shirt off, no airbrushing.
Would you be on the cover shirtless?
You know what I would say?
I thought you would never ask and rip it off right there.
You would.
So you're that.
Because it's deceiving at how muscular you are
Because I watch Russell's Instagram stories
And he'll be like, here's me and my kid,
Here's me eating some food.
Here are my muscles!
And I'm like, holy crap, man.
Just every third one.
What's the key?
What are you doing to get so big?
Oh, man.
I started eating a lot better.
I do these things called mega-fit meals,
and they literally just ship frozen meals to your house.
And that's about all I eat for like breakfast and lunch every day.
For the record, this is the second week in a row.
I've commented on a guy's fit.
This is true.
Who is the other?
Kane Brown last week.
Oh, yeah, that's right.
Well, I was looking.
Oh, he's been crushing it.
Yeah.
And I saw Michael Ray at the Opry last week.
I played the Opry and Michael Ray was playing.
Michael Ray is gigantic now.
Have you seen how big he is, like his arms and his chest?
No.
He could beat you up.
for sure. Okay, okay. That's how I talk to people now. I mean, it's not hard. Hey, have you ever been
in a fist fight, Russ? No, I never have. I've been punched in the face one time. What happened there?
So let's go back to fifth grade. Me and my buddies are building a tree house and we're like,
basically stealing wood from all these houses being built around us. And we pick up this bag of
quick crete. And my buddy was like, give me the quick crete. And I was like, absolutely not. And then he
punched me in the face. And I tried to swing the bag at him, but it was like super heavy and he
ducked out of the way. And then I just just walked away with a bloody nose, just in my shame in my hands.
And that's when you realized fighting wasn't for you? Absolutely not. That's when I decided I was
going to be a lover, not a fighter. And how's the baby? Incredible. Almost a year, two weeks,
be a year old. And he weighs as much as a three-year-old. I was going to say he looks large to not
be a year old yet like strong like big strong baby dude it's hard like cales can't even put him to
sleep anymore because i have to i'm the one who has to hold this 30 pound baby and like
literally wrestle him to sleep every night he on mega fit too yeah he's on yes he's on goat's milk
creotene what has been let's say that the weirdest thing you've had to learn as a parent that
you thought why i never even considered this oh man
just just the the plungedness of diapers these days like once they start eating real food it's like
oh man this is like the same as my it's bad you know what I mean it was surprising surprisingly
so real food but when he ate breast milk it wasn't so bad no no it's because I mean you know what
to expect every time it's the same thing same consistency but then like start eating black beans and
blueberries and it's just like black tar come okay sorry i'm sorry listeners i'm sorry
bobby asked bobby assed uh russell dickerson's on with us he has four number ones in a row
i think let's play blue tacoma here give me a little story before i play blue tocoma like
give me a 30 second story about how this song makes you feel or what it reminds you of i mean dude
same thing we had to rewrite this song as well i turned it into my publisher and they're like
Okay, cool. Thanks for the song. And then had to go back to the drawing board. It's just one of those songs I couldn't give up on. So I literally went back and produced the demo on my own. And I was like, this song is a jam and went back to the drawing board. And now here we are.
Right, here's Blue Tacoma from Russell Dickerson, who will be playing Bobby Fest on Saturday in New Bromville, Texas, which is tomorrow. And then Sunday in Wichita, Kansas. And we'll come back with Russell Dickerson in just a second.
Friday morning conversation with Russell Dickerson.
I want to play a little bit of Russell's brand new song called Home Sweet.
Here you go.
No, there ain't...
Is that going to be the fifth number one?
Call it now, Russell.
Come on, dude.
Yes.
From your lips to God's ears.
Let's go.
Why asked?
I didn't say.
No, just to be fair to that.
No, do you feel as good about this song or better about this song early than your other four number
ones?
I do, man.
I think just the sentiment of the song mixed with like,
a big anthem of music, you know.
I just, I, this is one of my favorite songs I've ever written.
And, you know, telling the story of, like, coming back from our honeymoon and we were
absolutely broke.
And then verse two, being on the road all the time, verse three, finding out we're having a baby.
And, you know, that could have been a ballad song.
But I was like, actually, no, let's freaking make it an anthem.
So I love Home Sweet.
It's one of my favorite songs.
We're on with Russell Dickerson right now.
He will be playing Bobby Fest.
I mean, he will be the most talent.
Go ahead.
Go ahead, Russell.
Oh, sorry.
No, how did you come up with the name Bobby Fest, Bobby?
I'm glad you asked.
Well, we thought about a lot of things that inspired this festival.
And mostly, I had to put up a lot of money to have this festival go, so I thought, why not just name it after me?
So there we go.
No pressure.
Here we are.
No pressure.
This needs to be the greatest set of your life, because if it's not, I might go broke.
Listen, you can 100% count on me.
Do you still wear the headset? Are you still doing the headset mic? The Garth Mike?
Oh, absolutely. Have you guys seen it? It's my favorite thing.
He wears the Garth Mike. Just like Garth? Yeah, that's cool. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Have you met Garth?
Wow. I have. And we met him at the Opry. Like, Remington was like three months old and he meets Garth Brooks. I'm like, well, the rest of your life's downhill from here, buddy. You just met Garth. You just met the one.
Hopefully you got a picture of that because, or you could just lie and be like, hey, man, you met a person. You met a person.
Paul McCartney and Danny three, three-month-old.
You can tell them whatever they wanted.
Exactly. Yeah.
No, yeah, we got, we have evidence.
Okay, let me say a few things about Russell Dickerson.
Tomorrow and Sunday, Bobby Fest, playing Whitewater Amphitheater, New Brombles, Texas,
and then Wichita, Kansas at Wave.
He's performing at the daytime stage at the 2021 IHart Radio Music Festival on September 18th.
His son, Remington, is starting to walk.
And I saw that on Instagram.
That's big news.
Yes.
He's on the cover of the August.
you a Franklin Lifestyles magazine.
Wow.
Franklin's soccer moms rejoice.
That's right.
I got to check my mailbox.
Do you get that magazine?
Yeah.
You do?
Or maybe I get the other one.
Maybe I get the other town in between.
I don't know.
I just know that sometimes it arrives in my mailbox.
Do you pay for it?
I have no idea how it gets there.
But like country artists and their wives are often on or other influencers-ish or often
on the cover and you get a like a peek into their life.
You're at the beach right now.
Russell, you written any good songs?
I mean, we just got here last night.
Flight was delayed, so we got in, went to bed at 2 a.m.
Ready to rage today.
Do you have a, like, a song in mind?
Like, if a title you're sitting on, ready to walk into the first, the right?
I got to, I mean, I have a whole note on my phone worth of titles.
Give me one note.
You want a song?
I want one, then I'm going to write it and steal it.
I want one note, and then we'll call it a day.
It doesn't have to be the title.
You can just read a note that you wrote.
I'm gonna get you a good one though.
Bones, and then you're gonna tell him if it's good or not.
I'll do like his wife.
Hey man, that needs some serious work.
I wouldn't chase that one.
Also, Russell, like, do you have this note backed up somewhere on the cloud or somewhere else
just in case you were to lose your phone?
Like, I'm sure there's a lot on there.
Yeah.
Okay, good.
Yeah, it's on the cloud.
I use Evernote.
I don't know if I'll use Evernote.
Maybe that's very 2008 of me, but I'm still here.
Ain't no outlaw.
Beer for it.
Stop holding back.
Let's talk about ain't no outlaw for a second.
Hold on.
Let's just stop.
No, no, no, don't waste them all because every songwriter town is going to steal your ideas.
Ain't no outlaw.
What would I write ain't no outlaw about?
This is what I would say.
I would say, listen, I'm here to, I'd make it a love song.
And I'd say, I'm here to love you, and I'm going to be honest with you.
And I'm going to give you everything I got because I ain't no outlaw when it comes to love.
I'm the sheriff.
I'd be something like that.
Boom.
I'm the sheriff.
I'm there.
I'm the sheriff's in town, baby.
I ain't no outlaw.
Oh, great.
Something like that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Take that.
Yeah, okay.
Oh, right.
Here we go.
All right, there he is.
Got four number ones working on his fifth.
He will be a Bobby Fest tomorrow in New Bromville, Texas, and then at Wave in Wichita on Sunday.
Russell Dickerson, great to talk to you, my friend.
As always, great appearance on the show.
Congratulations.
Mostly on Franklin Magazine, Franklin, what's it called? Lifestyles.
Something like that.
And then we will, we'll see you soon.
I love you guys.
All right, there is.

me being a great dancer and, you know, singer.
Yeah, it was a whole journey.
