So let's go, girls. Coming in at number seven this week, Bobby got served what he calls a piece of humble pie. He went to a big charity event with the Arkansas governor and the first lady along with his wife, Caitlin. And while something happened there and he was like, man, that was a big old piece, a humble pie that got served to me. It's pretty funny to listen back to because, well, why is this still happening? I have no idea. But nonetheless, it is. So listen up.

Number seven. Let's do headlines from the weekend. I'll go first. Headline is, got served a big old piece of humble pie. Now, let me explain to you. At a pretty fantastic weekend, Caitlin and I go back to Arkansas, which is where I'm from, and we have a little cabin in central Arkansas. We rarely get there. I probably work a little too much.

But we go back and we stay there for a couple of days because the governor and the First Lady of Arkansas invited us to come to this dinner and have dinner with them this little charity event, but we sat with them and we went up and spent some time with them and, you know, in the house for a little bit and went down to dinner together and ate and talk just fantastic. And I can just show you this on my phone.

And it's, you have to get dressed up. You're hanging out with the governor, you know? And so Caitlin's got on this, you know, really like super hot body suit or whatever she calls it. And I'm in a nice little suit and tight. tie and we sit down at the table and at the table they have everybody's name marked it's like the seal of the governor it has your name under it had katelyn's name there the governor's name it had his wife you know the first lady and i kid you not there's the seal on top amy and then what

does it say i'm like no way it says bobby jones no way dang that's a joke right no but they did it on purpose like they was not a joke and obviously the governor didn't do it right It's an intern. And I showed him and he was like, and he laughed a little bit, but I think a little bit he was, he was pretty, I meant to take it with me,

but I took a picture of it. So there I was. So, and I showed Caitlin and she laughed and she's like, just when you think your britcher's getting a little, just right, just getting a little big, you know,

this shows you, you're getting a little big for your britches. How did that pie taste? It's pretty humble pie taste, yeah. I don't like that humble pie. But it was, it was a fantastic night.

We it wasn't not political at all. I posted it on Instagram and someone's like, I can't believe you would go to dinner with the governor. Like, why wouldn't I? I like the guy. They don't have to, I don't agree with everything anyone stands for. I know. It's a crazy concept.

It really is. I don't agree with everything Eddie stands for. It's my best friend. The only person that I agree with all the time, me. I agree with. Caitlin. Sometimes you don't. And then sometimes I think I'm in.

idiot. But I really enjoy the governor. And it's, for a kid that grew up in a small town of Mountain Pine, Arkansas, I never thought that I would get to even meet the governor, much less have dinner with them. So it was fantastic. And then if you go to my Instagram, Mr. Bobby Bones, I post a picture of Caitlin and I

from that night. And I'd like to read you one of the comments. There were a lot like this, but it was kind of indicative of after you look at that picture, if you go look at it, Mr. Bobby Bones. Someone wrote, any beautiful blonde walking in any establishment in Arkansas

usually turns a lot of heads more so when the other one is not so hot talking about me why is it necessary to put that come on guys I mean it's it wasn't even like from a burner account or like a no I think someone just really just thing yeah they're like hey yeah somebody pretty walks into a room heads turn especially when the person they're with is ugly it had to be the ugly one why am I the ugly one It's the best bits of the week with Morgan number two. We love to talk about the 90s.

The 90s make us all so nostalgic. Don't ask me why, but we are all just obsessed with the 90s recently. It's a great era. I mean, I was born in the 90s, so I can say that. This week, we talked about our top choices for the essential 90s country song after Nash News wrote an article about it. Abby, what would be like your top five 90s country artists? these country artists.

Yeah, let's do like a collective list. Okay. I mean, Shania. Yeah, she has to be on this list. Yes. Okay. I'd say Brooks and Dunn, too, for me. My Maria.

Yes. That song. That's my jam. I know. I love, what is it, Dirt Road. Red Dirt Road. That's like one of my favorite ones. I just so, I love it.

Yes. Okay, so we got Shania, Brooks and Dun. Uh-huh. Garth. Of course. Garth. Iconic. Yes.

Dixie Chicks. Dixie Chicks. Now known as the chicks. Right. So the chicks. Uh-huh. Their songs are so great. I still listen to them, you know?

And it just like brings you back. You're like, oh my gosh. The best thing about all the 90s artists in songs is that they'll play on the radio and I'll be like, oh my gosh, I remember this. And it brings me back to like a moment in time. Right. That's what I love. And that's why that nostalgia is so like happening right now.

Back when like things were more simple, the simple time. Life wasn't crazy. We weren't in the middle of the pandemic. Right. Exactly. Okay. So we got four. We need one more.

We're going to talk about a few. We got Jody Messina. Uh-huh. We got George Strait could be considered 90s. Tim McGrath could be considered 90s. Faith Hill. Faith Hill. Oh, man.

I don't know. Like that. Let's see. Oh, Joe Diffy. Popular 90s country artists. Let's see. Let's see. Make sure we're not missing anybody.

Alan Jackson. Oh, yeah, definitely Alan Jackson. Reba, I guess is considered one as well. Martina. There's too many. But we can. Trisha. yearwood, we can only choose one. So far we have the chicks, Shania Twain, Garth Brooks, and Brooks

and Dunn. One more. That's one more. Personally, I would say Martina because she's a Kansas girl, and I like always sang all her songs. I do love Martina. And Alan Jackson isn't on this list. Oh, really? But I do think he is. And honestly, I think I would go with Alan Jackson. Yeah. Because I think I know so many of his songs. I know a lot of Martina. I know a lot of Jody Messina, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw. Tim McGrath is still happening for me. Like he's still out there. He's still like thriving.

Right. And that's why it's hard for me to 100% consider him 90s country artists. It's also why it's hard for me to consider Garth Brooks because he's like out touring doing all the things. I know. Yeah. They all have been recently. But like Shania Twain, the chicks, Brooks and Dunn, they came back after like several years away. And even like groups though too, like Diamond Rio, like they were so good.

But I know we're just talking about like one artist. No, we can totally. I don't know. But like, yeah, there were like Shannon Doa, all of those. Oh, I miss them. There's so many. Okay, who's our fifth one? Who are we going to put on this? You pick. You pick. Oh, what? Alan Jackson. Okay. I'll go with that. I'm down. Yes. I mean, when I think 90s, I do think Alan. So I love, I just love anything 90s. What's a song? What's like a song from the 90s that you really love? Cowboy Take Me Away. That's an essential country. like 90s country song yeah i would say that one help me away uh-huh the chicks yes not goodbye

earl okay that's a good one too i mean that for sure i do feel like goodbye earl is a very essential one because it it made so much of the 90s and it was controversial right it was such a crazy song at the time right and now we all still sing it at the top of our lungs and it's still a controversial song i know it's so fun to sing though because you're just like okay you want to give me a little goodbye earl Oh my gosh. Wait, how's, okay. How does it go? You want some lyrics?

Yeah, wait. We're putting you... Da, da, da, da, da, da, da. Okay, wait, ready? Well, Marianne and Wanda were the best of friends all through their high school days. Both members of the 4-H club vote active in the FFA. Dang, no, how was it go?

Wait. After graduation, Marianne went out, looking for a bright new world. Right? Yeah. I looked all around this town and all she found was Earl. I'm turning that down and I think we might have blasted our ears off. Sorry about that. It's okay.

Oh, we are really. We hat. Dang it. What is it? I'm trying to find the lyrics. Okay, well, it wasn't two weeks after she got married. That one that started getting abused. She put on dark glasses and long sleeve blouses and makeup to cover a bruise.

Come on. Well, she finally got the nerve to file for divorce. She let the law take it from there. I don't know if we can keep singing this. We probably have to stop. We're past 15 seconds. Oh, shoot. We're going to get copyright or whatever it is.

And that was really bad because I can't even hear myself right now. So sorry about that. But, I mean, honestly, you know, for me, that was great. And you did great. No, I think you did great. But, like, for me, that was, like, considered semi-good. Oh. Yeah, we have something to talk about because you're an audition.

when it makes it in this list. It brought back some PTSD for me. Oh, okay, yeah, I want to hear this. Because I was not here. I don't think I knew about this, so I'm excited to hear. Yeah, we got a little bit to talk about. But here it is. This is when we talk about our essential 90s country songs.

And you might want to have a pen and paper because you should write these down and make a playlist. Number six. Let's go! There was a list on a website called The Nash News, and they put out their top 10 essential 90s country songs. Now, before I get to their list, I'm going to go around the room and have you guys put yours on the list.

Woo. F3, for kind of different reasons. My number one from 1991 is Brooks and Dunn neon moon. I spend most every night beneath the light of a neon moon. That to me is pound for pound the best Brooks and Dunn song. Of course. I mean, heck, Ronnie Dunn, sing it at our wedding. And now it's not a love song, but still I was like,

sing it at our wedding because that's the best song. So I put that on there. I also put on from 1996 strawberry wine. That was so good. I don't feel like this is a top five song from the decade, but nothing makes me feel like that decade more than strawberry wine. Oh, yeah. Like I can see the video.

I know exactly where I was, and that to me is what the essential 90 song means. And then finally, like, you've got to put an early Tim McGraw song on there. And I pick, don't take the girl. Take Jimmy Johnson. Take Tommy Thompson. Take my best friend, Oh.

So if I'm starting the list, those three go on that list. Amy, what is your 90s country song essential? So I feel like there's some early 90s, some late 90s that are amazing. But I decided to go with one right in the middle. And it's George Strait carrying your love with me. I'm carrying your love, West Virginia down to Tennessee. What year was that? 96.

Was it that late? Either 95 or 96. You know, George's song. are all weird because he had some in the 80s too. Yes. And for me it's kind of hard to figure out what is where, but 1997 carrying your love with me. Oh, seven? Okay, well, I knew I was old enough

to drive because I listened to this CD on a repeat in my Bronco. Eddie, what's your 90s essential? Essential to me I mean, it means you need this song and you can't have 90s country without the goat. Garth Brooks friends in low places. This is the

reason I started wearing ropers, got wranglers and Mo Betta shirts, dude. This is it. 1990, Garth Brooks, Friends in Low Places. It barely made the cut, but it definitely made the cut. It kind of started 90s country music. Absolutely. You know?

Yeah, it's a jam. Morgan, do you have a night? Although Morgan was born in the 90s. She can still have a favorite. No, no, she absolutely can, which is why I'm going to her. But I'm saying it's got to be different for her because we all experience these as kids. You know, she has to go and listen back and be like, what were the best songs from before I was even listening to music? Good point.

Morgan, what is yours? Well, thankfully, my parents, like, raised me on country music, so I know a lot of 90s country because of them. But it's always going to be Shania for me. Shania, Twain, man, I feel like a... 1990s when that song came out. All right, Raymundo, you had the last one. 90 is essential. Yeah, the one that I always remember hearing at those middle school dances, you had to find the absolute hottest chick for this song, and it was a maze, lone star.

Oh, yeah. The Cusp, 1999. Oh, right there. Yeah. So I have their list, and some of you guys has made their list. At number 10 on this list from the Nash News is 1991, she's in love

with the boy, Trisha Yearwood, which is the most played female song in country music history. We talked about that, maybe last week. And definitely needs to be on this list, I think. Didn't make my top three. But I mean, Trisha Yearwood, I mean, this is part of it.

At number nine, boot scoot and boogie by Brooks and Dunn, 1991. It's hard not to have this as kind the Brooks and Dunn song because this is probably the song that defined them more than any other song in the 90s. There was a dance. There was a every, you know, you go electric cowboy. Everybody's doing it.

Number eight, Martina McBride, Independence Day. Really great song. I don't know that I would put that in my top 10. But it's a great song. Amazed by Lone Star at 7, which Ray played. Chattahoochee. Yeah. Which was tough for me not to pick in my top three.

For sure. Me too. At number six, Alan Jackson. Muddy Water meant to me But I learned how to swim And I learned who I was A lot about living And a little about love

But I don't know that I put it on the top 10. They could probably pick five George Strait songs I put on the list before you're guessing. This one's so good though. But would you put, I got some ocean from properties. Yeah, that's 80s. Is it? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Or I would have gone with it.

So is Amarillo by morning. I knew Amarola by morning was. All my exes, 80s. For sure that was 80s. 80s, yeah. Forever and ever, amen, Randy Travis, 80s. Yeah, yeah. Number two, Friends and Low Places, Garth Brooks. Their number one song is not the number one song. What is it?

It's a fine song, but it's not number one. It's Toby Keith should have been a cowboy. No. I mean, it's pretty good. That could have been number eight on the list. I could even put it on the list. Yeah. But that's not more 90s than Friends and Low Places. Or, man, I feel like a woman. Was Cowboy take me away too much too late?

in the 90s to be in there because I feel like that's such a... No, because Amaze was 1999. Okay, well, yeah, I think that was 99. We get mad at one person's list. It's just literally one person who wrote it. It was their job, too. There was only 10 slots. It's the best bits of the week

with Morgan number two. We love a good interview, and as most people know, I am a huge Dan and Shea fan. I have been one of their fans from the very beginning. Their first album was epic to me, and I just, you know, I can't say enough good things about Dan and Shea.

And I was really excited that they came in this week because they talked about their new album, which they just dropped. And I've had on repeat ever since it came out at midnight. Yes, I was up at midnight, Thursday night listening because I love them. But they came in and they talked all about the celebrities they get to hang out with. Justin Bieber, Sean Mendez, and Ed Shearin. Like, these guys are hanging out with everybody. If you don't think Dan and Shay are A-lister country stars at this point, you are sadly. sadly mistaken. They're killing

the game and they talk all about it and have such good stories. So listen back right now. This is our interview with Dan and Shea. Number five. The Friday morning conversation with Dan and Shea. Congratulations on the new record today. Thank you, man. Feels good. Finally out there. Does it

feel good or does it feel like a relief? I'll probably say both. Yeah. After three years, man, it's been too long. Has it been three years? Well, kind of like there's an asterisk on it after the last year and a half that we've all So it has been three years since the last album came out. I guess because we continue to get music from you one dose at a time, it doesn't feel like three years. Yeah.

Meaning you guys have been putting out songs, but then like a couple of those songs, I should probably go to bed, 10,000 hours, glad you exist. I guess we've been getting those. So it doesn't feel like there's just been a, you know, deficient. Yeah, I mean, I feel like that definitely kind of, you know, held people over and felt like they were getting something because those songs were going up the chart. But it's crazy to think that 10,000 hours was, you know, the first song off this project. I want to play a clip, and I saw this on you guys social media. This is Good Things. This is live from your show in Iowa.

This is seven days after it came out, now, which is wild to me, because Good Things is not a single, you know, right? No. Not yet. Okay. So you put it out, and it's not like it's getting played all over the radio, but you play it at the show, and this is what happens. Here you go. There's like one little kid hitting that high. You're screaming it live.

We hired a children's choir to like overdub the audio and make it sound like people knew the words of the song. That whole show, though, knew the song. That's crazy. That's crazy to me. And it's, again, it's not even one that was getting, like, played on radio stations anywhere, and they knew it all. But your fans do that.

We've got amazing fans, man. We're so grateful. Do you ever do that, though, and they don't? And you're like, oh, they're going to know this. It's one of my greatest fears, dude. It's like, all right, here we go. There's nothing more vulnerable than putting out the mic. Because when it's a hit, you know,

it's like if they don't know it, and they're there at the show, it's like, this is shame on you for not knowing this song. But if anything else, it's like with like an album track and you give it to them and you just fully commit, it's just like, and they don't say anything? That's one of my greatest fears, I'd say. We're still pretty insecure about it.

No matter where we go, we could sell out 20,000 tickets and tequila speeches comes on and I'm like, should we let them see? It's the only reason they bought a ticket to this show. Let me play. This is track one. The album's called Good Things. It's out today.

That's how I felt like I sounded right there. That sounded pretty good, dude. So today, Still My Love is the song that we're playing. It's the single here. play me a clip of that, Ramundo, please. How do you guys decide on what's the next song to put out as a single? Like, why steal my love? That's a very difficult decision to make.

We're proud of all the songs on the album. I just feel like that was the one that everyone on, I mean, it's tough. You don't really have any market data. You haven't played it for the fans, and I guess it's just kind of our team. That was the one that everybody just reacted to unanimously. And we played it for some,

we played it for Espo at Warner. You know, he's the head of Warner Music, Nashville, and we played it for him for the first time, and I've got a video of it. lost his muscle. Oh my God. He got out of the chair and started dancing and we're like, I mean, we can't take it back from now.

It's got to be the single. Yeah, we're excited about that one, man. It's fun and it's, you know, dropping it mid to late summer here. It feels good. And getting back on the road is going to be a good one at the show. I saw an article, Dan, that for two weeks in a row, you are the biggest producer in country music. He loved to see it.

I'll take it, man. I'll take it. You produced every track on this album. Yeah. But I think that's something that people may not know, is that, like, you produce this stuff, and you, right now, you are the biggest producer in country music. I haven't slept in a long time. You finish the album, then it's like, cool, the next day you're doing all kinds of, you, oh, let's shoot a video for every song. Do we have treatments? Now, can you write him? All right, here we go. Well, word on the street is that you never come out of the room. No. I mean, it's like, you wake up and you go, and then you might briefly come down from the room, but then you go back into the room.

Yeah. This is the first time I've seen him in a week. My wife's forgotten what I look like. The only break was to come to the wedding. Yeah. Well, that was the last time I saw Dan was at your wedding. That was great. We got to see Ronnie Dunn. That's the main point.

We got to see Ronnie Dunn. Well, obviously, that was, I mean, y'all doing the first dance was so special, like, just as someone that was there witnessing it. And I know that y'all put a lot of work into that. So it was super special. Even recording Bobby and Caitlin, what do you call it? Say a Dan. A song? Recorded or been like that.

A track. There you go. Nailed it. Recording them the track. Like that's super special. But what was it like for y'all, you know, making the decision to do that? Was it a no-brainer? Was getting the text from Bobby awkward and you have to talk about it? Or are you like, oh, yeah, for sure.

We're doing it. It was not even a discussion. We both like, we're like, obviously, it's a huge honor to be able to do that. But it was also just, yeah, of course we're going to do that, man. Like, we wouldn't, you know, we wouldn't let you down. It was awkward for me to have. I don't like to ask. I can imagine that, though.

I felt for. you like because asking that is always just kind of uncomfortable where it's like you know that like we're not going to say no but it's also like it's just a weird thing to like it's not weird thing to ask somebody your friend but it's a very difficult thing to ask your buddy I would say because and here's why I think you guys will relate in the industry you don't want to ask your friends to do industry things sure but I felt like this was a personal thing but you're doing what you do for the industry like I would say like, you know, Dan's come over the house for dinner.

That, I have no problem with going, hey, you, Abby, come to the house. Sure. All day, every day. But to be like, hey, will you guys do what you're really good at at my house? Like, that felt a little, but you guys. It didn't feel that way to us at all. It was, it's clearly, we were doing this not as an industry thing, but we are doing this because, you know, we're friends. How fun is it to be out singing again in public, Shay, like, doing shows again?

It's hard to describe a little bit. Speechless. But no, it really is, man. It's something that you don't realize how much you miss until it's gone. And it's that moment where for the first little bit, it's like, man, this is awesome. I get a little bit of a break of not having to stress about, you know, remembering the words that you wrote. Like being out there and being an entertainer. But that's taken away from me.

Honestly, for me, it was like, it took four days to be like, dang, this really sucks to not have to not get to be up there on the stage. And after we had like those first couple shows, it was like, man, this is what I was born to do. You know, I was born to be up here singing. And when you don't get to do that for a second, you're kind of reminded of how blessed you are to be in this situation and get to do that. Because it's a pretty indescribable feeling to be up there on the stage. And hear people sing back the words to songs that you wrote is just a, it's a crazy feeling. So it feels good. If I were to play one note, I'm going to do this with a few of your songs.

Can you name the song in one note? Of our songs? Yeah, we like to play name that, doing that game at the house name that. tune. All right, here is one note. Can you name it? Tequila. That's the easiest one, but I feel like Dan's going to get all these. Yeah, because Dan's like, yeah. Are we trying to get it? Are we waiting? Yeah, you can get it. Okay. All right. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Morgan number two brought up. We were doing a segment on yesterday's show. Hold on, hold on, don't know. Morgan number two brought up. We were talking about albums that don't have a single bad song on it, country albums. And I'd pick Casey Musgrave, same trailer, different part. Definitely. All the way through.

Amy had picked Old Dominion. Happy endings. Morgan had to tell them. I picked your guys' first album where it all began. I mean, I love every single song on that album. And you guys just did. show you off, which is one of my favorites. That's awesome.

I'd love to hear that because I feel like there's songs throughout your career that you do 100 million times where you're just like, God, I hate that song. But not that you're not proud of it, but when you sing something every single day, it's just, that's just how it is. We're proud of every single one of them because we put a lot of hard work into that. But you just get kind of like you sing something enough and you're like, all right, I could maybe never sing that again. Show You Off is not necessarily one of those songs, but there's definitely been songs like that.

But that's one y'all don't like or what? What was the other? You had a question? I just don't know what to say. It's funny because my wife, Abby, and everybody was like, nothing like you should be the first single on the first album. It should be the first, well, everybody loved 19U and me. It was a thing.

It was a big song for us. A couple times platinum did its thing. Put us on the map. But she was like, nothing like you. That's the hit. And we're like, I'm going to go show you off next. Didn't work. I mean, I think it got maybe top 25.

And sure enough, nothing like you was the first number one. She was right all along. Do you guys as wives weigh in? on what songs maybe they don't like more than what they do. Anyway, so, Janicea here. Sorry, there's a, I can't quite hear you cut out for a second. No, I would say, my wife has said songs that she doesn't like as much, but it's not like, I hate this song.

It's just like, I like this one better probably would be how Hannah does with it. The new record's out today. So you guys check out Good Things. It is 12 tracks. And I was looking at the songwriters. It's always interesting to me who writes on some of these songs. and there was one I saw, two actually. One had Bill Withers, track 7 lying.

Plays number 7, right? This is lying. So how does Bill Wethers get on this song? It's a long story. Well, we were actually in the middle of nowhere. We were playing like a county fair or something a couple years back, and we had our buddies out, Jordan Reynolds and Andy Albert. We're hanging out.

Jordan plays this little thing on piano. We weren't even thinking about it. We kind of just freestyled the chorus of that song. We wrote the song. We demoed the song. And we're kind of listening back. We're like, that kind of like, that piano sounds like the one, two, three, four, three, two, one. It's like, it's the lean on me sort of thing.

We weren't thinking about it when we wrote it, but, you know, it's obviously like one of the best songs ever written, one of the biggest, like, most recognizable, familiar songs. And we're like, you know what? There's something in the back of our minds. We were subconsciously, maybe inspired by that or motivated by that. And maybe that's why we connected with the song, or the piano riff. So we're like, you know what, you know, if that inspired us to write this song, which the top line of the song, The song itself isn't, you know, melodically on that song.

But something about the piano chords, so we reached out and we gave him publishing on that song. That's pretty cool. By the way, Bill Withers lean on me. Ain't No Sunshine. Lovely Day. Like, great, but he's also dead. And so when I saw him on the song, but will I hear it in that? Play it again, Ray.

No, no, hear it. Take them off. It's all good. Take them off. We'll cut you in on publishing. It's all good. Bobby's going to go. He's going to get his lawyer.

Fight against him. I saw Sean Mendez on a song. Yeah. Body language that you, Shea, Scott Harris, Sean Mendez, and Jordan Reynolds wrote. Now, similar? Or was in a room or what? We were in the room together. You met Sean Mendez.

We met him. That's what we geek out about in the whole interview. I love the things that like us in the Nashville world that geek out of it. Same. Like we met Sean Mendez and we're like, hey, dude, what's going on? Can I touch your hair? Anyways, what are you saying? So you wrote this with him?

We did. Yeah, in Nashville at Jordan Studio. And it was really fun to write that one, dude. Just kind of being there with him. A lot of people you kind of wonder in the pop world of like, is he truly as talented as I want him to be? You know, kind of this pedestal that I put him on. And he was every bit as talented and every bit as nice.

One of the nicest human beings in the world. That was one of my favorite sessions. What a guy. I mean, he's an incredible person. I mean, he's tremendously successful, sells out arenas in stadiums. Most humble, sweetest kid. I mean, insanely talented. Was Camilla with him?

No. She was not. We all put our heads down like, no. In spirit. The story got worse. We're like, Oh, never mind.

That could have been such a great story. Here is a clip of that song here. This is body language. Can you imagine slow dancing with Sean Mendez's that song? Is that what you guys did? Yeah. As you're writing it? That's what the song was.

We're like, dude, I don't know what to write. And you're like, you guys want to dance? Like, who's the coolest famous person you guys have got to spend time with? Because it's every time I look, you're with somebody even cooler.

I mean, you went to Bieber's wedding. You got to hang out with Sean Mendez. You and Bill Wethers are just chilling. You know? Absolutely, chun. Who for you guys, do you walk away from and go, well, that was a bit surreal? Because we're just a couple guys in Nashville that have been writing songs. This is kind of a different perspective on that, but I would say the most interesting

scenario is Ed Shearin. We all know Ed Shearin. You guys have hung out, and he is probably the biggest superstar on the planet. There's no one more down to earth or humble than that guy. He walks into a session or walks. I mean, we were hanging out with him. We had a show day off. We were in Boston at the Garden, and he was about to go on.

Thousands of screaming fans, multiple nights sold out. This fans are camped out like 8 a.m. for the show. We're hanging. He's on at 8.30. It's like 8.28. We're just chilling. Listen to demos backstage. He's in a t-shirt, jeans.

We're like, yo, man, you want us to like, you can, you know, get in your zone. He's like, no, no, it's all good. Let's keep hanging. 829. He's like, yo, man, you guys want to meet me back here in like an hour and a half? Sure. literally walks right from that room to the stage. Like we didn't know what he was going to do.

Like I got to take care of something. I'll be back in like an hour. Okay. And you know how like most people kind of have their entourage, like a lot of these very famous people. Like it walks around and they walk as a unit where it's like it feels like a Transformers machine with all these guys around him.

And it's like a he walked in there like he might have just come from like, oh, hey guys. Like he was the only guy backstage. Like I saw no, because he didn't have a band. It's just him up there. So which, you know, he was probably stoked. that we were there because he was like, you're the first people I've seen in months. I was so glad he came here.

Not to keep bringing up the wedding, but there's a presence about Ronnie Dunn. There is. There's just his presence. His voice, first of all, is incredible. I mean, just unreal. But when he walks in the room, there's just some sort of presence there. There's like an R around him. Do you feel that?

You're closer with him than we are, so. Ronnie, that's a good one, right? Like, I can't believe when I get to spend time with Ronnie Dunn because Brooks and Dunn was such a big part of my childhood. Yeah. And the fact that, and I didn't, the thing with Ronnie was like, hey, what do you want as a gift? He asked, he was like, I don't know what to get you. And I was like, I don't know. I don't just show up.

And he's like, how about a song? And I was like, oh, my goodness. We're like, you didn't even want to like ask that. Like that's the only gift that you wanted. You know, I wasn't. And I was like, that sounds great. And he gives which one? And then I was like, well, if I ask for Neon Moon, that's not a love song, but that's the greatest song in my opinion.

And I was like, neon, he's like, okay, cool. No problem. I'll see you there. It was unreal. That was one of the coolest moments in my life, dude. What was the best night of your life, the wedding? Bobby's wedding. Like, oh, yeah, no, your wedding is very sweet. I didn't say that.

There was actually someone else's wedding. The Friday morning conversation with Dan and Shay. You guys don't come off the road, which is a bit weird for a Nashville touring organization. You know, you, your band, your group. I mean, you do like rock star touring, where it's not you're just gone on Friday and Saturday and come back. stay out on the road. But you guys have always done that pretty much. Yeah, I mean, we've kind of came up doing like, there was one year, I remember we did like 270 shows or something. And I look, I saw that on paper and I was like, you got to be kidding me, dude. We're out of our minds, man.

And that's, you know, obviously the bigger you get, the more songs that you have out there. You don't have to do 270 because that's crazy and we wouldn't be able to have families. But it is, man. We like to get out there. We have the opportunity to go, you know, fingers crossed this year again, to be able to be out there on the road. And that's a huge deal, man. That's kind of the full circle moment of what you get to do. It's kind of the final step of you write the song, it gets on the radio, and people hear it and consume it.

And then you actually get to, you can't ever judge the response of the passion of a song until you get out on the road, which is something we didn't have with, I should probably go to bed. That song went up the charts without us playing a single show, which was kind of crazy.

And you can always tell when the song is climbing up the radio charts when you're on the road, and they start to kind of sing it back louder and louder. but you can't really, you know, you can't judge that based on just seeing it go up the chart. You're just like, I hope that people like the song and know the song. And that's like the final step of being out there and being able to experience the fans like passion for a particular song. How was that song when you guys played it? I'm assuming it killed.

Tribal, dude. It was crazy. I couldn't lose it. It was like when Tequila was at its peak. It was insane. I mean, we teed it up right at the top of the encore. We come out. It's a whole thing.

But it was, I mean, it was like, it was crazy. Will you ever not do an encore? let's say the crowd sucks yeah we've done that before because you don't owe it an encore you really don't we usually put tequila in the encore because they're like

they'd be pretty pretty ticked off if we didn't do an encore or didn't we just wouldn't go off is that a conversation like hey do you want to the encore or is it more of a conversation like hey I don't feel like doing the encore the encore is a tough thing it's a little goofy to go off stage

it's like a little bit you're boosting yourself on too much of a pedestal but it's just part of the gig you know what I mean I think you kind of have to do it It adds a little bit of drama to the show that we go off stage. They're chanting and we're back there like, okay. Changing our sweaty clothes. They know who we are.

All right. This is great. What if they don't chant, though? That would be my favorite. Well, then you sprint to the bathroom and you never come back there again. Do you? No kidding. There have been a couple shows where, you know, we would do our little dopey thing,

but they would turn the lights on immediately thinking that it was, that we were done. Yeah. And so you don't. But I'm assuming you guys run the light guys too now at this point. It's a whole thing. I mean, it's definitely like, it's pretty clear that like, we're not done. We haven't played like some of our biggest songs.

Unless there's like one guy, I guess that's it. If you see it, we have some like some undertones of like, I don't think like we can't see to get out here. Like some people might want to leave, but they're like, I literally can't see anything right now.

The key is to finish the first part of the set with the song that nobody likes. Clearly they're not going to end with that. I'm not going to say, you know. Song's called, what? Get it,

get it, get it, get it. Yeah. All right, name this song in one note. Here you go. From the ground up.

Well, hey, Bobby, can I talk to in the kitchen real quick? Hey, glad you exist. It's going to be number one this week. Let's go. Fingers crossed. How does that get timed out like this? How does it get timed out that the week you put out a record, the song goes number one? Sounds like it is.

Is that you guys? Kind. I mean, you try to. to plan it. You try to plan it the best you can. You kind of forecast the chart. You look at it. You see, well, this is probably going to go, you know, Luke Combs will probably get a few in there before we get this one all the way up there. You know. Playing two comes on. Yeah, for sure. But, you know, you try to plan it the best you can't, but you never know. But we're grateful for the support of country radio for you guys and getting it there. Because at any given point, somebody can be like, yeah, I don't like glad you exist. I'm pulling it. And then it foils the whole plan. But, I mean, the timing is absolutely perfect on this. So hats off to you guys and to our team. make it i mean it's it's tough to line that up because it could have very easily been like the week after or the week before because you really don't know if you go early or you happen to get jumped there's not really and it's not like you're going to move the album you know three weeks you know before the album like all right we're going to move it it's a tough conversation too strategically if we're still

in glad you exist and we're pushing that for eight more weeks then you kind of lose the initial hype of a new single new album that kind of impact moment so the timing is really good on this one controversial opinion that I'm going to say, and you guys can tell me if you agree with it or not, and it may be not controversial to you guys privately. But I'm feeling like at some point you have to start to be considered, even as a duo, for entertainer of the year. Thank you for saying that. Thank you.

That is, it's just, it's hard to deny the success that you guys have, not just in number ones, but also in touring, and also in what you do on social media. and it's what the entertainer category should be. I would say you do that as well, if not better, than anyone. You know, the only other person I would argue should for sure be in there. You mentioned it was Luke Combs. I voted for him. Right.

I voted for him. I pulled up the thing, didn't see our name on it, and voted for Luke Combs. And it may be awkward for you to answer this, but why do you guys think you're not considered in this category that I feel you should be one of the top two in this category? I don't know why. I mean, I feel like it's, you know, not just. It's like fighting for ourselves, but I do think that it should be talked about, not like for our sake, but for the coming duos and groups in the future of, you know, of that being a category. I don't know. That's something that should be talked about probably.

Do you think it's the duo part? No, I don't think it's a duo part. I mean, it's tough. The award shows are all tough. It's the criteria for award shows is we've lost a lot of awards more than we've won. We've been lucky to win a few, and we're grateful for that. We're so grateful. It's a huge moment for us, big win for the team.

but, man, you can't live and die by an award. I think the real win for us, and I'm not just saying this, is being able to come in here, talk to you guys, have a song that gets on the radio, be able to go out, play shows, have people show up, sing the words back after the song's been out for six days or whatever it is, or just do music for a living, man.

I mean, that's what we dreamed of our entire lives, and to be able to support our families to do what we love every single day, that's a huge win, and the award shows are tough. It's like, you know, there's always going to be somebody who you think deserves to win. And even, you know, if Luke Combs wins that, you still got Garth out there who was, you know, or Chesney or Air Church or Keith or any of these folks out there, Blake, who were selling arenas or

stadiums out every single night. And it's like so many people deserve to win that. And only one person can win or only five can be nominated. And there's always going to be a sixth person who doesn't get in there. And it's always going to be controversy about that. But, yeah, I don't know. And the worst thing that can happen to you is that the people that think that you deserved it, think that in their minds.

And that's still a win that you have people who. advocate for you for that, which is like, like Dan said, you can't live and die by it, you know, but it's, we are very thankful, but it's just, yeah, we're thankful that people like you would even say that and consider it. I mean, all that, listen, I know you guys a cute answer, but here's the thing. You're cute, well, yes. I just, I know that I would be disappointed if I was crushing everything and not,

it wasn't coming back, even partially coming back to me. So I'll say that. You guys aren't to say that. You can smile and say the political answer. It's all good. Like I say smiling a little bit. But I think, I think that there's an, injustice with a few artists because I think our format holds on to legendary acts longer than they should and keep some in current positions.

There should be like a category of like, hey, you're old and still cool. How do we not have that be a category? I think that is very true because the reality of it is is that we're going to be there one day. And I will have the same stance then of just like there always has to be something fresh that is coming out. And so it's a conversation that always has to be ever changing. You know, I feel like these conversations haven't been, haven't happened because they're, you know, they just haven't happened. And I feel like they probably need to.

I do want to talk about dancing for a second because I was an awkward dancer and I did a whole dance show. We've got, we've all got that in common. But I watch both of you dance. And right, none of us are trained dancers, nor do we claim to be. But in the video, I feel like, Dan, you're a bit reluctant and Shay, you are, you love it. I was born for this body. Shea, I feel like when I watch you, like you feel like you are, you're just waiting for your shot to dance. You know, I've been sitting in the wings, dancing at home, spending 17 hours a day.

Dan's in the studio. I'm also in the studio, but of a different kind. But do you like dancing, Shea? No, I've, I honestly, my sister danced, Gabby danced a lot, like, as we were growing up, she, like, would do choreography and stuff. And I'm not going to lie, like, there was, like, a point there for probably, like, a good six months where I was, like, maybe 10 or 11. where I'd sit in front of the mirror and just be like, and it was horrible. But I always kind of like to move and dance

and do that kind of stuff. So, yeah, I don't know. I feel like I'm not great at it, but I feel like I could maybe get better. I feel like you like to get in your eyes. You like to dance. You're going to put this on me, aren't you? You're like, dude, you are a dancer.

That's it. If you don't like it, you could get out. But Bobby, after working with professional dancers, do you have a newfound appreciation for when you see it on TV or a movie or something? They're professional athletes. It's nuts. crazy and it is insane i did dance with stars the first day i saw shana dance i was like oh you because she

like won world championships and i was like oh you're like a world class sprinter or you're like a baseball player like it's insane we just have not been exposed to how hard it is to do that yeah and the mental capacity of it too to memorize every step you miss one step and you're tripping on somebody yeah i did that a lot especially with a group with a group of people whenever you watch those like big dances and they're doing these really intricate things and there's one person that you're like they're doing a flip it's like if you're an inch too close you're getting a a foot to the face. And it's pretty, one person, if you messed up,

you got to do it all over again. Yeah, I can say this here because, you know, I'm just going to say, we got a video coming out next week, the Steal My Love music video. It's insane. The craziest video we've ever done. A lot of choreography,

dancers, the whole deal. There was a guy doing a flip in the front, right? He's got this, like, briefcase thing. It's a whole dramatic scene. And he does this, like, flying front flip. And you're literally, like, six inches from this guy. You take one wrong misstep. He's taken out your chin.

Well, I did. That was a personal story. I took it, like, to the check. full on and I had to like act like it was because there's all these people around you know and they're dancing like we're dancers and I was like me too and so I was going up there and I got like too close and this guy's doing a full on flip and he had done it like six times already and he flipped and he flipped and it was like a karate like when you see them flip and you see the people like whoa and they get kicked in the karate movies I felt like that because it smacked me right in the chest and he

landed it and like acted like nothing would happen and so I like stand there and I'm like you know you do like the Olympic athlete thing where you they stick that landing and they're just like And I did that, and I was like, I may die. I thought I was going to look down as you a whole of my chest. I mean, it was crazy. But me being a dancer, it's what you got to deal with in my line of work. The new records out today. Good things.

It's their fourth studio album. Glad you exist will be number one this week. Everything's coming up, Dan and Shea for sure right now. Out on the road, I mean, I looked at the tour dates, and I mean, it's most days. You guys are gone. It's a lot. It is a lot. Well, as I always say to you guys, and only to you guys, I like you.

Thank you we'll see you soon It's the best Bits of the Week with Morgan number two. This week we talked about the songs that got released. Each year, the show members got their driver's license. So this was from 1995 to 2009 all across the board because we're all different ages, right? Eddie's the oldest, I'm the youngest. So we talked about a lot of these songs.

And for my year, which was 2009, and I was 15 when I got my like driver's permit. And the song was, I got a feeling by Black Eyed Peas. That's a good one. epic song, right? Yes. But one of my favorite things to do is like jam in the car, especially when I'm like going through something. I just want to jam in the car. What do you think is like such a good car jam song? Oh man, one right now is Olivia Rodriguez. Good for you. Oh, I just like blast that and I'm like, well, good for you. It's so good. Abby, do you have something to share? No. I won't. Oh, that means you do.

I'm looking at you. I see you're not making eye contact with me. Well, I think we talked about it last time, but how I was kind of talking to a guy. Okay. Yeah. Do you want to update this or do you want to keep it? Nah. Okay.

I will. It's just no longer. It's fine. Dang. I know. It just every, it always fizzles. And that's where I'm at. I'm like, I'm kind of wondering why it just never really goes anywhere.

You know, it's just kind of like a little fizzle. I do feel like we're in this very. unfortunate age for the generation now that's like dating, which is millennials and zillenials, right? Is that just people don't want to commit? Yeah. Like it's very difficult after seeing social media and you see all the things that are out there in the world, whether it's a job, whether it's a person, a house.

You get to see like these perfect things all over the place. Why are you going to commit to anything? Right. Exactly. Yeah. And that's even what I did. Because I was upfront and honest. And I was just like, just so you know, I am looking for a relationship and I think that scared him off.

Well, then what did he say to that? I was like, do you even know what you want right now? And he was like, no. I mean, I don't really know right now. And I was like, okay, well, I guess we're not on the same page. Well, and I think it's hard too because for a long time, I would date a guy and I would make my intentions very clear, right? What I wanted.

I wanted a relationship and all these things. but then it always like happened that they make the excuse like I'm not ready right now. And I've made that excuse before when I'm dating a guy. I'm like, I'm not ready right now. But I think too that's like the natural easy way to let somebody down. Yeah, for sure. Without like bringing attention on to you to be like, okay, well, why? Mm-hmm.

Because the few times that I've been very brutally honest with men and been like, I'm not into this. I don't want this. Mm-hmm. you know, in a nice way. They've come back at me and been like, well, why? You were flirting with me. You were talking to me.

I'm like, because I showed you attention. Yeah. That means I wanted to be married to you. I'm not quite sure that connects. Uh-huh. So I think we've kind of had to resort to like saying, hey, I'm not ready right now because it's the easiest way to let somebody down so they don't yell at you.

Yeah, because they'll just be like, okay, I understand then. Thank you. Yeah. Because you can't force someone. one to be ready for anything, right? But the reality is, when it's the right person, you are ready. You will always be ready. And it took me a long time to learn that and to really sort through that because it would make me so mad. Like, I remember dating a guy and we dated for like a few months. And at the end, you know, we acted boyfriend, girlfriend, like it was all there. And then three months,

he's like, yeah, I'm just not ready for anything serious. Oh, man. And I do. thing part of it is he wasn't like dude was immature but then like three months later he has a girlfriend see that's the thing yep and i'm like so you were ready i just wasn't it and that's okay but like for me for some people like they need that honesty like hey this just doesn't work for me right i would so much rather have that yeah that's what i've always said i'm like i would just i don't care if you hurt my feelings and say you're not though i don't see this or you're annoying whatever it is. Like I would rather you just be honest than to just like be weird and just kind of let it fizzle. You know, it's like, but on that flip side, it's because there's 50% of people who will flip out on you for you not being the right person.

Yes. That's true. So like I get it and I understand where it comes from. But then I'm like, why don't you just tell me that? I know. So I can go figure myself out some more. Let me just go work on it a little bit more. Okay. Yeah. Right. And like even like usually if we are in the talking stage, I always say that I'm like, look, if down the road like, I want you to be honest with me 100%. If you're not feeling it, just please tell me. And they're like, okay, I will. I'll be completely honest. And then they don't. So I'm like, I don't know.

People always cower in very vulnerable situations. They're not ever going to be 100% honest because it takes a lot of confidence to be that honest and be like brutal in your convictions. That takes a lot to get there. I don't think that quite hits everybody until they're in their 30s where it's like very brutally conviction, even though you are in your 30s. I know. Is this a guy in his 30s?

Yes, he was like, up for 30s. So maybe I need to push that age back to like 35. Right. He was over 35, so maybe 40s. Seriously. Yeah. I don't know. But, you know, wasn't the right one, I guess. I'm sorry.

No, it's fine. So are you getting yourself back on dating apps? I actually am, yeah. Yeah. What dating apps are you on? For all the people that are looking to be on dating apps, which ones do you like? Yeah, so I really like Hinge. But I just kind of wasn't really having luck with that.

So I switched to Bumble just to see. you know and had some more luck with going out with people on bubble but obviously not yeah not really but i like hinge because you can like have conversations based on like a you know it'll say what's your favorite thing to do a prompt yes or like two truths and a lie and you can respond to it and so that kind of is like better icebreaker to do it that way bumble started doing that too oh did they yeah okay oh actually they did but i think it's still the girl has to initiate which i don't always like to okay so you don't like to be the initiated don't you like the guys to initiate.

Yes. Okay. I have, this is a, this is an interesting thing because I have another girlfriend that's like that. Really? And I'm the opposite. I like to be the girl that initiates.

Okay. I did find more success in that. Yeah. But I'll preface this. I had more success in it because like guys love the idea of a confident woman. Mm-hmm. But they can't put up with a confident woman. Like when it comes down to it.

There we go. Like you, because so many times I would reach out to guys, but like as soon as I even continued on that confidence track, it was like immediate like blubbering and like couldn't handle somebody being more confident for them. I found that more people would respond, but less guys could deal with that.

Does that make sense? Do you think like, I just said the one thing Ray said he hates. Does that make sense? I'm not sure if I'm only said it at one time. That's okay. You haven't said it like 20 times. I know.

No, but I mean, so are you saying like you think sometimes guys are intimidated by confidence? Yes. By girls' confidence. So then they kind of like shy away. Yeah. I mean, obviously the boyfriend I have now, that is not the case. He is literally not intimidated by me at all. And I love it.

So that means he's confident, right? Yes, very secure in himself. Uh-huh. And I think that right there, like that's what I've struggled with is I kind of just tend to find the guys that aren't that secure, you know? And so it kind of they kind of put it on to me, I guess. They're insecurities. Yeah. Well, I think for a relationship to work anyway, like both of y'all have to be secure in yourselves before you can be like secure as a couple.

Mm-hmm. I think that's very real. Yeah. But more often than not, because of the maturity rate of women, they tend to be more confident first. Mm-hmm. Unless a guy just figured it out. You know what I mean? Yeah. And there's not a lot of them. I found a unicorn. For so long, I was like, I have to find a unicorn. And I found a unicorn. Looking for that unicorn. In Nashville. It's there. They exist. I do believe it because most of my friends are all with great guys that I love and approve of and they're amazing. So I mean, I know they are. I just am not finding them yet. Well, dating apps. Are you actively like pursuing when you're out in public? See, that's kind of the hard thing too. Like, I mean, during a pandemic, you really want to be careful. You know, you don't just want to go on all these dates. I don't know. But I mean, I don't really go out that much right now with all the, like it's starting to open up more, I guess. But where do you meet them? Other than work, classes or something, where do you meet guys, really, in dating sites? I've thought of this. And I think it's happy hours. a lot of guys at. But I'm pretty sure it's happy hours because, like, guys, like, maybe the really, like, mature guys are going to go have drinks with their friends for happy hours, but they're not going to be at a bar on Friday and Saturday night. It's a very big theory. I'm not sure if it's a correct theory. but it's a theory of mine. I like that. I know where. I mean, before the pandemic, pre-pandemic, when I would go out to the bars all the time, I would see the same guys over and over again. Oh, really?

And I'm like, okay, there has to be more men in this town than what I'm seeing. That's why I don't go out. Yeah. I don't go out and expecting to find someone. Yeah. You know it in Roof on Friday night. So that's my theory. Happy hours. I think you should do some happy hours. I start doing that. In Nashville or in whatever city y'all are in. Do a happy hour if you're trying to meet a man.

I feel like, I feel like that's a solid theory because I also don't think they're at brunch. Guys do not brunch like women brunch. That is true. I think I know where guys can meet a woman. At Target. Because of jury duty or so he blames it on. And, well, it was a whole thing. Everybody was really, like, making sure he got punished for, you know, no call, no show to work or whatever. Anyways, we're not going to get on next. You're going to hear all about that in the bit, and you hear us to kind of yell at each other. Have you ever skip work and lied about it, Abby? I actually don't think so. No, I'm pretty good when it comes to work.

I like take it very seriously. Do you ever, yeah, I'm with you. You know? Yeah. I've never even. skipped work. I don't think I've ever missed a day of this job. Wow. Really? Okay. That's amazing. Look at you. I mean, because even when like I had to be home because the pandemic and stuff, I was still working. Right. Exactly. Yeah. Yeah. So you've never actually like

taken a personal day or vacation, a personal vacation or anything, which is hard for us to do. Have you ever lied when your friends asked you about plans? And you're like, nah, I don't feel good. I'm going to stay home. Yeah. Yes, I've done that. I mean, haven't we all? Haven't we all done that? I really want to do that, like, recently. Do you, I can't tell if this is, like, pandemic related or if I'm just, like, getting old. But I'm just tired all the time.

I yawned, like, four times right before I came in. I'm like, what is that? What's the deal? Yes. Like, why? And maybe it's because, you know, like, the early weekend or whatever. I don't know. But you're not even 30 yet.

I'm like, how are you so tired, you know? Like, I'm 30. This is what everybody keeps saying to me. Yeah. Everybody says that. But I'm not alone. You're tired? Oh, always.

Yeah. Every day. Uh-huh. I just feel like I never get enough sleep. I know. Even though I get like seven hours. Oh, do you really? Yeah.

I get my most energy like at night. Like I'm tired throughout the afternoon. So then I get coffee at like two. And then I'm just like, let's go for like midnight. It's so weird. You know, I get like my second wind at like 10 o'clock. And I'm like, I don't want to be this hyper and alert right now. So do you drink coffee in the morning for work? I actually don't anymore. Wait, so why do you do, why do you drink in the afternoon then? I get my like the, you know,

like the afternoon. Don't you get like at two in the afternoon where you're just like, oh, I hit a wall. I'm really tired. I mean, yes, but normally at that point I'm home. Because we work so early in the morning. So why are you drinking coffee at two in the afternoon? I don't know. So I can be productive for the rest of the evening. Unless you're here. Are you working still at that point? Uh-huh. Okay.

Yeah. That's what it is. I was like, are you at home? I mean, because some of us have work that we take home. Right. And some stay here and work. Yeah, I like split it. Okay.

So I like kind of take the afternoon and then I start working again at like four or five. At home. Yeah. So it's kind of like my second shift. And I need to be ready to go. Or if I want to go to the gym or, you know, get stuff done around the house, laundry and stuff. I'm like, I need to get my coffee and get. It's weird.

You heard it here. Abby likes to drink coffee to go to the gym and get her laundry done. Sometimes I get coffee at like eight or nine at night. I just love it so much. No wonder why you're in Night Owl. I know. You're all jittery at night for no reason. I don't do it very often, no. I don't blame the coffee.

I don't know. I've always been night owl. But you don't like coffee. You're like wide awake at night. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Are you not? That has to be coffee, Abby.

And then they told me and my mom told me, but then everybody heard it at home. And so like I've never lived that down. You're like, so how do I write a resume? Those little accent letters get me, man.

They really did. And it's so funny though, because I almost, I am one credit away from having a minor in French. So explain that to me. Okay. Shouldn't that be the first thing you notice? You would think. I'm sure resume is French, isn't it? Oh yeah. Everything with an accent is typically coming from another language. Yeah. So yes. Resumet. That is hilarious. I mean, I did really good in French, but I just suck it words apparently. It's probably just your brain is moving too fast. Do you have any flaws? Can you give me something to make me feel better by myself? I have like so many. Are you serious? Oh, that's one of my flaws. Okay. No, you do not. I do.

It wonderful just is you are, Abby. My skin is terrible. I can say that. Your skin? Yeah. Why? I don't like it. It's very, um, it's called, what is it?

Melasma. No, no, that's not good. Melanoma? Melasma. No, you don't, this is where I go back to doing words that. I don't mean. I'm saying the wrong thing. Melasma.

Melasma, I'm pretty sure. It's like hyperpigmentation. Mo? Wait, how do you spell this? M-E-L. Melasma. Malasma. I also can't spell things.

Melasma. It's a skin condition characterized by brown or blue-gray patches or freckle-like spots. Yeah, just because I used to sit in the sun all the time. And I'm very self-conscious of it. And there's really no treatment for it because it always comes back, like with heat or any amount of sun. So it's like your sun patches. Yes. Yeah.

No, you just like it on like their kisses from the sun. I love it. You can kiss by the sun. Thank you. I mean, I wouldn't have notice if you does anything to me. Oh my gosh, no. But one time in an interview, speaking of like flaws or anything, so I remember I was being interviewed and she was like, what are your strengths?

And I came up with like five. Like no problem. And she was like, okay, what are your weaknesses? And I just like drew a blank. Like I know I have 100 weaknesses, obviously, but I couldn't even think of any. And I was like, I literally can't think of one. She's like, you really can't even come up with one. I was like, no.

I'm sorry. Can we move on? And so later I called her and I left a voicemail and I was like, hi, here are my weaknesses. I got the job. You did get that job? But like that right there was really funny. Oh yeah, it's very important to share your weaknesses in an interview. Like it's probably more important to be able to share your weaknesses than it is your strengths.

Right. Because everybody can talk confidently about themselves, especially in an interview, right? You're prepared for that. But it's very difficult to share your flaws with somebody that could be a hiring manager. Mm-hmm. The props to you for going out of your way to be like, here's what I suck at. Like a five-minute voicemail. Here you go.

I wrote a list. Oh, man. Okay. Yeah, that was good. Okay. Do you have any jury duty stories? That's what this is kind of about because it's about skipping work. Lunchbox scubing work.

But it's also about like because of jury duty. Have you ever had to serve jury duty? No, I think it'd be fun. But my mom did and she got called in for one. It was six weeks. So she was on like a murder trial, huh? No, it was, it was nothing important. It was, I don't even remember what it was or if she can talk about it.

It was the dumbest thing ever. It was like between a family, like a brother, suing a brother for something so small, like less than $10,000. And I was like, you took all these juries, these people's time. Like someone was a teacher, someone was a surgeon, you know, and for six weeks. For six weeks, they had to go there and just sit there. That's wild. Yeah, isn't that crazy? I feel like six weeks would definitely be something bad more than like.

a family argument. But I thought, imagine if lunchbox has gone six weeks. Oh my gosh. I can't even imagine that. The only like relation I have to jury duty is like on the show, New Girl. Have you watched New Girl? I've asked you that before. You can ask me like, have you seen this show? And I'm probably going to be like, no. Yes. Because we talked about this. Yep. You don't. I'm the only human that barely watches TV. Well, Jess like Jess on New Girl, she has jury duty and like all she, you can't talk to them. They get like sequestered. I get another word. I cannot pronounce sequestered. Yeah. And you can't like talk to him for that long.

So if it is like a very intense trial, you're not allowed to talk to them. They're supposed to be like in a hotel or whatever. I don't know if that's still the case though. Ooh, maybe. But I would love to talk to somebody who's been sequestered from everything. I know. I really come out. Yeah, I really want to do it though.

It would be fun for a few days. I don't know about six weeks. But it'd be so interesting. But then also not because like are the movies real where like sometimes the jury gets killed? Oh. Oh. Yeah, because you want to keep your identity. Yeah.

You don't want to tell them. Well, that, but like, yeah, but like the guilty party, like finds out who the jury is and, like, either bribes them or they die kind of thing. I mean, that's what happens in movies. Yeah, I don't like that. I watch way too many movies. I wouldn't want that to happen. And, I mean, someone's life is kind of in your hands, basically, their future.

You have to seriously be like, okay, are they guilty or they not? That would be a really big decision. But I do want to see, like, the system. Because the system, I think, is a little bit flawed in different ways. You kind of want to see how it works. Yeah. Why it's working that way. It's very interesting.

Yeah. Yeah, I don't. I have not. Okay. I'm done jury duty. Neither by. Maybe someday we both will. Maybe we're on the same jury.

Same trial. What? That'd be crazy. I'd be like, I know her. And then they win lettuce. I know. They'll be like, you're both out. No.

Oh, man. Okay. Well, here is the moment that we found out Lunchbox. Didn't get picked for jury duty. And he skipped work. he was stressed. Number three. What's having our friends?

Lunchbox was out yesterday for Jerry Doody. And so I want to play you a couple of clips here. But we'll talk about did he get picked? Was it a big trial? The thing is, it could have been a big trial because you're back today. Right. Yeah, it wasn't a big trial. So you leave, you go, and then yesterday, all yesterday, you're gone.

I'm gone. Can you talk about what happened? I mean, I can talk about it. Yeah. I mean, now everything's over. I wasn't allowed to go on social media during the trial. or when I was there. But once I left and it's over, I can do whatever I want.

I can speak to the press. I mean, there was news vehicles out front. There's everything. Here is the first clip. This is you going through security on the day that you showed up. Yeah, there's me at the metal detectors. Monday? Yeah, Monday.

Hello, ma'am. I'm reporting for jury duty. I do swear to say, the whole truth, nothing for truth. So help me God. Yeah, so I'm good to go now. Oh, I need to put my keys. Oh, I do have a bill. Yeah, you're about to.

Thank you, ma'am. I'm here to serve the judge. Look at the wall. Wish me luck. Did you swear into the security guard? Yeah, I swore in. Which is not necessary. I thought that's what you were supposed to do because I see that on TV when they swear in.

And she had a plexiglass thing in front of her, kind of like she was a judge. And so I felt like it was appropriate. Everybody in line behind me was like, can you just hurry up? Because some people, like, I'm in line with the criminals that are going into court. You know, they've got to get there. Well, they're not a criminal. Some people to go to court are found not guilty. Well, I'm saying some of the people in line, they're like, man, come on, guys.

We got a good court. You're holding up the whole line. So you go through, then what do you do? You go into a room? So I go into a room and I check in. They give me a little badge and I sit down with a bunch of people. There's probably about 150 people in there. And these guys come up and they start talking about,

hey, we got six trials that are starting today. So we're going to, you know, select 30 of you. You're going to go to this courtroom. And they'll pick the jurors from that. So they call, you know, 60 people for two of the trials. Then they come and say, good news. Two of the trials got killed. So we're down to two trials.

And I'm like, oh, man, I'm here. Here we go. Here we go. Here we go. And then they come back in. They say, guess what? Another trial got canceled. And I'm like, oh, man, this means my odds are dwindling of getting picked to be a juror.

And they said, but they're not ready for us in this one trial, but we're going to call the 32 people that, you know, are going to be in the jury pool. And then everybody else, you're free to go. Okay. Is that what this clip is? This. No, no, no. So they call out the 32 names. and I am not one of the people.

So I am free to go and this is me saying bye to everybody that got picked. Bye, guys. Good luck. Bye, bye, bye. Bye, bye. I think I'm going to take a nap, guys. You guys have a good day. Like this happened on Monday. And then he wasn't here yesterday at all because we thought you were on jury duty. Well, well, here's the thing. The stress of going to jury duty, the emotional toll it took on me because I had someone's life in my hands. Like I had to decide if they were going to be guilty or not guilty. And I never got to make that decision. But just the thought of it, it just wore me out. And so I needed a day to kind of, you know, get myself right.

And it's traumatizing. You guys have never been on a jury. Yes, I have. I've been in jury duty and then I got picked for the jury pool. And then I came to work later that day once I got cut. But it's very traumatizing to realize that the pressure you have on you to make a decision if someone is going to go to prison for the rest of their life. You're also inserting some trial about lifetime sentences. But you have no idea.

Hey, Scooby Steve, he didn't show up to work at all yesterday. He was not doing jury duty at all. No, he did not. He didn't hit me up. No coordination, no contact, nothing. It's almost like a no call, no show kind of thing, right? Did you not hear me? I was at jury duty.

Like when I walked in the room, like, and when I walked into that jury room, cell phones came up and people started filming me. Like, they were like, oh, celebrity in the building. Like, it was a lot to deal with. He said in the audio clip that he's going to go take a nap. Yeah. Like, he told her,

ah, good look, I'm saying that. And that was, and that was Monday. Because it was exhausting. Yesterday's show he had nothing to do. No jury duty. He knew that he had us thinking he was at jury duty. I thought you were literally on jury duty yesterday.

But I was like, what if they call me back? What if they say, you know what? We made a mistake and we need you on the jury. So yesterday you were on call. You felt like. Yeah, man, I felt like I was on call, man. It was rough. I had my phone laying right by me just in case they did call.

They never called. So, whew. If, Eddie, if you had taken a day off extra and didn't say anything about it, what would happen? What do you mean? I'd be in trouble. You would totally get upset at me. So get upset at him. I don't know.

What is he thinking? I need a day. I need a day to figure out. See, that's like I'm saying you need a day because it's stressful. I feel like he just stole a day off. I need a day to figure out the punishment. Oh my God. Let me know if you ever get called for jury duty, how you feel at the end of the day.

Eddie, you're going to need a day. I'm telling you. Amy, what would you do if you were me? I mean, I think that he just goes in and takes it as an actual because we have, well, we did just take vacations. I have no idea if he has any vacation left, but sometimes there's, you're saying you's a vacation day on him? Well, there's like, we have personal days. We have sick days, bereavement. What about jury duty days?

All of the show members got to compete against each other in a commercial read. So Bobby needed to find somebody else on the show besides him or Amy that could do some commercial reads for a client. and instead of just choosing someone,

he made us all compete against each other. And I'm not going to lie. I did pretty good. Okay, you are an absolute pro. Like, how do you even do that? It's like, were you timing yourself too? I was timing myself. Okay, because I was going to be like,

if that was in your head, I mean, whoa. But you just like get in the zone. I was nervous. I don't. I think you can hear it in my voice a little bit, but I was super nervous. Whenever I get put on the spot in anything, particularly on the show when I get put on this bar my heart starts racing and like my whole body

is shaking and I am never a nervous person oh really you're not ever no well that's amazing but in this particular like scenario and setting I get nervous I honestly could not hear it at all because I was listening like very well and I was like how did she say I thought it went to a commercial they like put it in there you didn't sound shaky at all but you did good you did that was your first ever read you did during this. It was. And after you got over, like, I don't know how many times

I can tell you that I've messed up in things. And like natural reading, I mess up all the time. Okay? Yeah. Like I said, I messed up my words all the time. And you did great.

After you got over like your little like, oh, wait, can I mess up? What can I do? I was like, I messed up on first line. Thanks. But you just have to keep doing it over and over again.

That's a lot of talking. Good practice. I know. You did good. I feel like everybody honestly did good. The hard thing with commercials, though, everybody has their personality and you want to show your personality.

That's a whole point of it. But like in this instance, we had 30 seconds and like you had to get this huge paragraph in and you couldn't get your personality across. Yeah. And it's like it was very wordy and a lot of Fs. It was like four. Like it was a lot of numbers. Bones 14.

Yeah. For the code that we had to read. Yeah. And it's weird when they write it out. They spell out dot com. It's not just like a dot. And so then I was like, I don't know. It was just a lot like you're reading a lot of words.

And you only have 13 or 30 seconds. Yeah. Sometimes 15 seconds, sometimes 30. This is like a full on behind the scenes that y'all are getting right now. But yeah, sometimes our commercials are 15 seconds, 30 seconds, or a minute. They can range. And most of the time you get a script that you have to stick to. Sometimes you get a script that you can't go off of.

And sometimes you'll just get bullet points and you have to make up the script. It depends 100% on the client and what they request. Is that hard for you when they say, oh, just make up a story? If it's one that I'm connected to, like I've done some for Invisaline and I've done some for LASIC, and all of which I've had personal experience, that's the whole point that we did the partnership with the client. Those aren't because I have the personal story to share, but like combining that down into one minute is very difficult. Oh, I bet. Like I'm trying to tell a personal story, but by the way, I'll only have a minute to do it. I know.

Which is difficult. But like I like those because it's allowed you to show your personality more. Right. I just love how you get in the zone. Like you just put your game face on. You're like, let's go. That was amazing. It was awesome.

Which we're about to talk about a moment that you put your game face on and there was a moment that I didn't put my game face on. Well, I can't wait to hear this. I really can. Okay. She performed for the show to determine if she could perform at Bobby Fest in Wichita, Kansas, which is both of our own downs, on her birthday. Yeah, it is. Right? Isn't that crazy? You did that this week. Okay. So how are you feeling like today?

Everything's already happened. We're not, you know what? Spoiler alert, if you have not heard this segment, fast forward and then come back to this. Because I want to talk about this. You are going to Bobby Fest. Yes. I can't believe it.

Yes. You made it through. You've auditioned all, and you got four out of five people. Lunchbox said no. A surprise. So, yes, let's talk about that for a minute. When Lunchbox was talking back to you,

he's like the only one that did. didn't necessarily give you the best feedback. Yeah. How did you feel from that? Because I think people would like to know that. Okay. Well, when I was singing, I was like, oh, my gosh, I could hear the shakiness in my voice. Like, I already do get kind of nervous when I'm singing in front of just like a small

group. Like, even if I was singing in front of you right now, I'd just probably be a little nervous. Just because it's different than a big crowd when it's a bigger crowd. They're, you know, they're not paying attention all the way. They're just they're having fun. They're drinking. And so being in that studio is very intimidating. So I knew I was like shaky and I was like, oh, this is not my best.

Like, so I kind of knew that something like that was going to be coming from somebody. And then when lunchbox was saying it, I mean, that hurt. It did. Like that was, wow, because he's just like, just give up. This is not your thing. And I was like, oh. Yeah, it wasn't even like an easy letdown. It was a brutal letdown.

Yeah. It wasn't just like, uh, maybe try again another time. It was just like an absolutely not. That was like terrible. But I mean, you know, there's always going to be somebody that doesn't like what you're doing. This is true. This is true. Have you guys spoken to each other since?

Is everything okay? It's fine. But it's always going to be a little stamp on your heart. Yeah, a little. I'm just going to be like, you know what? You don't get that vacation day or whatever from his jury thing. I'm like, payback is coming. Yes.

Okay. Someday it's coming. Okay. There was that. But you didn't make it through for lack of a better term. made it through and you are going to play in which song how are you feeling about that? Are you excited? Yes, I can't even believe it because like my family's going to be there and now my friends

because I told them about it so they're getting tickets and I'm just like like I grew up singing and I sang more in Kansas, you know? And then when I moved here I kind of stopped because, you know, in Kansas it's less of a thing. There's not many singers, I guess. And so I did like competitions and talent shows and all that. And so that was always just so much fun. And then I moved here and I don't sing much. And so just getting to go back and sing in front of a crowd.

Like, I can't believe he even let me do that. You know, I was just asking. I was like, okay, I'll just ask, why not? And see what he says. And I thought he just be like, no, no. But he gave me a chance. And so why is it, too, that, like when you moved to Nashville, I know you kind of said it's because there's more people here pursuing that.

But you did want to be an artist and you did want to be a singer. What happened? Why did you not keep pursuing it? I know. So when you, an artist, I am a singer, but when you think of an artist, you're thinking of someone that has the entire package, right? You know, like Kelsey Ballerini or Carrie Underwood, they're doing interviews all the time. They're showing up to red carpets. And I was like, I don't know if as an individual artist, if that's something I could do if you think realistically.

Like I do get anxious singing in front of small crowds like this. And they go on radio tours, you know. And it is, it's so much more than just saying, oh, I sing. So, and then I just started working in the business and like in the radio side of it and like events. And, you know, you got to put your 100% into everything you do. And so I just kind of chose the business side of it. And that's kind of where I ended up, you know. So I don't know.

I guess I don't really have a good answer because I do love to sing. But I think it'd be fun maybe like to be a demo singer, you know, where you could do that. So I've thought about doing that maybe. or I always thought my dream would be like in a group like Lady A. Okay. So not a solo artist. Right. But a group potentially or doing some other kind of thing in the industry that kind of ties you to it.

Yeah. But it is hard. I mean, when you're in a current job that you really love, it's a big leap to kind of, I don't know if I can do both to kind of give that up for something else, you know? Yeah. And I think a lot of people can relate to even if you have a great job. now but you want to switch industries like it's a big deal to just completely bounce yeah yeah you know and so I'm like I want to do both I want to do what I'm doing now and I want to sing so I don't know it's hard

so trying to figure out maybe that middle ground is what it sounds like that's happening for you right now yeah just how I can sing because I love to sing you know and so I think the demo thing or maybe you know where it means like a songwriter could come to me and they wrote the song but I could sing the demo, you know, just something to use my voice. When it sounds like, too, that you're definitely more of the musician side of that, like not the instrumental, but your voice. But like what actually comes with being an artist, you're like, not sure that's for me. Yeah.

Like the performance, the aspect of interacting with people constantly from fans to radio to interviews to everything. Right. very constantly being on. There is that element that I think artists have to have that you don't think about. When like you're like, I mean, I know when I wanted to be a singer when I was like five. Again, when I was like five. You don't think about any of that.

All you're thinking about is I want to be on stage and I want to perform. But you don't actually think about what goes into all of that for those people. Right. Until you get in it and you're like, holy cow. this is a whole thing this is a whole production that people don't even see right and you see all that and you're like wow that's a lot and like you applaud them and people you know people like do realize now a little bit more with social media we've given like more insight into things but yeah i mean i've never even really thought about that as like a reason why somebody wouldn't pursue that right because i mean

because like i said you want to put a hundred percent into what you do right to be the best you can be and which I don't want to say I'm giving up on my dream, but I just, I don't see like myself being like a solo artist like that, you know, I just, I don't know. I love to, but making it a career and singing it in front of thousands or, you know, like every day. It's just a lot. But if I can do something where I can at least utilize my voice, but I also like how music touches people. And that's, I think, why a lot of artists do what they do. Yes. Because. Because, you know, so many songs have like changed my life and help me get through really hard times. And that's why I work in radio too, because we have a platform to do that.

So that's why I'm like, there's so much I want to do in this life. Yeah, I love everything. Never enough hours, never enough days. Yeah. I hear you. And so I am happy with where I am now, but I want to do something on the side with singing. Yeah. And you should.

You absolutely should. You'll make your life a little more stressful, but it's worth it. Mm-hmm. Yeah. It's worth it to do more fun things. Right. I was thinking like a, I thought it would be fun to do like a wedding band or something, you know, where you play at weddings on the weekend. You're just like singing the cover songs like something like that. So I'm kind of looking into things. Okay, good. Well, maybe this is just the push you needed. Yeah. Okay, well, before we go. Your story? Please. Tell me. Oh my gosh. We're going to talk about why this game, um, me PTSD.

when you chose to sing. Yeah. Because I also got forced to sing, not chose. You were forced? This is what happened. I went back home with The Raging Idiots for one of their shows. It was in Hutch. It was for the state fair.

And this was, gosh, two and a half, three years ago. This is one of my first years I'm working for the show. But Eddie was talking to my parents and my mother decided to tell. him that at one point I wanted to be a singer and I like made a whole fit about not getting to audition for American Idol because my parents in that moment in that moment knew what was best for me and that I wasn't really talented in that area like I could sing and I can hold a tune but like I cannot genuinely sing alone right I don't know I think you could no it's just not like Because I wasn't here for this.

So I really haven't heard you saying. But, okay. It's not awful. Again, I can carry a tune and I can match people. But like on myself, like I can't do it by myself. Okay. I would need to match somebody else. And so he, of course, brought that to the show because everything gets brought to the show.

And they're like, oh, well, then let's have Morgan try out for the radio show. Oh, my gosh. And I'm like, guys, no, like this was a dream like 15 years ago. Like, I'm clearly never pursued that. And so, you know, how it goes. It happened, you know, right? Like, it's happening whether you're ready for it or not. And what did you sing?

I sing the ticks. Uh-huh. Cowboy take me away, which is such a hard song. Oh, my gosh, it is. Like, don't ask me why. I had, like, 24 hours to prepare something, and I obviously hadn't prepared anything because I don't sing anymore, right? Right.

Right. So I'm, like, doing karaoke on my computer. I'm like, oh, my gosh, what am I doing? And, yeah. So I sang that and I cried in the hallway before I went on to perform because I was like, I know this is going to be bad. Did you really? Yeah. Oh my God.

Well, I knew I was going to be bad because I'm like, I'm such a bad singer. Like that is just not, that is not what came to fruition in my life. I'm 20 at the time, like 25, 26 years old. And that was when I was seven that I had that dream. Right? Yeah. So now you have nightmares about that? Oh, yeah, because the video still is still live on the internet and people will pull it back up.

Yeah. How did they react? How did they respond on the show when you sang? I had most people being nice. Okay. A lot like yours. Most people being nice, but there was people that were being honest, which is fair. Like, again, I did not choose to pursue that for a reason. And that's the thing with those comments. You're like, okay, well, thank you. I mean, I already admitted that that I don't want to be a singer. Yeah. Yeah. But you don't need to tell me. Yeah, but they still want to share it anyway. So when I was watching you, I was like, I was just hoping and crossing my fingers that everything went so well for you. because I was like, I do not want this for anybody else. Oh, man. But I was so shaky. I was not, it didn't sound good. I listened again, like I said. And I'm overly critical. I think we all are sometimes of ourselves.

Well, we already don't like listening to ourselves. Yes. I don't listen back to any podcast because I don't want to hear my voice. Me neither. Like, even wearing like headphones when I'm listening to it, I'm like, what is that? You're like, ugh. Yeah. Literally only listening so the audio doesn't like spike up or something.

Uh-huh. So I think it's part of it too. We don't like listening to ourselves. Yeah, I just, I was very nervous that you could tell. But I'm like, okay, I won't be this way that Bobby says. You have a lot of time to practice. I have a lot of time to do things. And get prepared for that moment.

I mean, I would say just keep singing every day. Okay. Yeah, I need to. Get yourself ready to go. The only thing that matters in that moment is your confidence. Because as long as you have that confidence in yourself when you're going on that stage, just all that matters. Right. That's true. It really does. I mean, and what you tell yourself in your head, too.

Mm-hmm. If you tell yourself you're going to mess up and you tell yourself that like, this is not going to go good, then it's not going to. Mm-hmm. Which is literally what I did. Right. So learn from me. I got to tell you, when I was driving in the morning of the audition, I was so nervous. And I was playing the song by Lauren Elena called Three. Have you heard it? I don't think so. And she's like, you know, my parents, they say I'm going to be a star. all you got to do is sing your heart out. And it was like that one line.

I was like, that's all you got to do, right? Like you can't overthink it. Like, just sing your heart. That's all you, you know, that's what you love to do. Just sing.

And that's what I was like saying in my head on the way. And now you're going to Bobby Fest. And you're performing in from a hometown crowd. Yes, I can't believe it. I really can't. It's crazy. I mean,
