It's the best bits of the week with Morgan number two.
What's up, y'all? It's the best bits of the week show. I'm Morgan number two.
So happy to have you all hanging out.
with me, whether it's a weekend or a weekday or whenever you decide to listen to this,
in case you are a first-time listener.
What I do is take the best seven bits from the week based on y'all's engagement from
online, phone calls, text messages, emails, basically everything y'all send in, and decide
which ones are the best from the week, and I count them down from seven to one.
But my favorite part is bringing on another show member, and we talk about some of the
segments that happen, plus sometimes we just talk about a lot of random things going on in
the world.
because why not?
And this week I'm bringing on Abby.
What's up, Abby?
Hello.
I'm so excited.
This is your first time by yourself on my podcast.
It is.
Totally going to get to know you.
Yay.
And I may make you sing a little too.
Oh, good.
Yeah.
Okay.
I mean, we'll see.
We'll see about this.
For any listeners who don't know, she had tried out for American Idol.
She came to Nashville to pursue a career as an artist.
So why not have her sing a little, right?
Right.
I think that's how this is going to go.
So let's get started because I know you guys want to hear this.
It is prom season.
So naturally, we had to talk about prom and all of our crazy, awkward stories.
My story was that I spent my senior prom in a tornado shelter because a tornado
touched down in true Kansas fashion.
Right.
I mean, why not?
You and I are both from Kansas.
We are, so I feel you on that one.
You feel me in the tornado pain.
But do you have any crazy, like, prom stories that you remember?
Yeah, I do, actually.
Okay, let's hear them.
Okay, I'll do my most embarrassing one.
Oh, I love embarrassing stories.
Okay.
Yeah. So it was my junior year. Okay. And I just went with a guy friend. Like he wasn't my boyfriend or anything. And when you go into prom, you have to walk downstairs, right? Okay. And so everybody's basically at the bottom kind of watching you go down the stairs. Oh, it's kind of like a ballroom entrance. Kind of. Yeah. Yeah. It's like this grand entrance where everybody's watching. Oh, like on the Cinderella story where she walks in. Yeah. Kind of like that. You hope it is like that. But mine. So I get to the bottom and like the bottom of the stairs, the last five.
steps kind of turn and so they get thinner and so right when I got to that step I missed it and I fell
down the rest of the stairs. Oh no. Did you rip your dress or anything? No, I actually didn't.
I mean, that's graceful if you ask me. I know. Did anybody like say anything to you? Did everybody
see it? Yeah, everyone saw it. Yeah, I looked up and literally everybody was looking and I just heard like,
ooh, it was really, yeah. But no laughs. It was more of like, oh, I feel for her. Yeah. I mean,
yeah, there really weren't any laughs. And then my date, I don't even remember. I kind of
of blacked out because I was like that did not just happen like how why did that happen on my prom you
know but he just helped me up and it was fine and you moved whatever yeah I had a strapless dress on too
so oh and that could have been real bad hollywood boot slip situation not no luckily but yeah that's so
I'm like why would that happen so yeah there's my crazy prom story okay crazy prom story I mean that's
definitely up there do you have other ones so my sophomore year I got invited by a junior you know how it's like a big deal
When you're a sophomore, you just want to go to prom.
Yes.
And so this guy, he was super shy and he like never talked at all.
Like we had never spoken before this.
So he asked me to prom out of nowhere.
And I was like, oh, okay.
Like, sure I'll go though.
So like you really didn't even know who he is.
It's kind of an idea because of school, right?
Right.
I mean, I would just see him around, but I had no idea we had never talked.
And so it was just out of nowhere that he invited me.
But some of my other friends that were sophomores got invited to.
And so it was just like really fun and everything.
And I know, like at after prom,
I know you said you had a bouncy house, right?
Yes, that's like what we had too.
Yeah, and so I just remember like going off with my friends.
And like an hour later, I'm like, wait, where are our dates?
Like we ditched our dates.
Like, we didn't mean to.
So like all the girlfriends ended up going to prom together.
They got in through a dude and then left them.
And I feel so bad.
When I look back at it, I was like, oh, I did not mean to do that.
But I was like, we should probably check on where they are.
It is a big deal as a freshman or sophomore to get to go to prom.
Because our high school was the same way.
You only went if you were a junior or senior.
and people had hit me up because I posted like a TikTok of me trying on all my old prom dresses.
I saw that and wow, I'm so impressed you can fit in all them and they're still look cute.
To be fair, I wasn't breathing half the time.
I was shooting those videos, but they fit.
But people were hitting me up and I was like, yeah, I mean, I always dated older guys and it was kind of my fault
because I would end up with really bad dudes that I would somehow get to go to prom freshman in sophomore years
because I got dating older guys.
And that's how I always got in.
Then junior senior year, I, you know, I had the handle on it.
It was my turn.
You're like, I got, wait, you asked?
No, well, no, I was dating guys.
Like, but you at least get a go, even if you weren't.
I think both of them I was dating, like, guys in my class at the time.
I want to say that.
But also, I think I ended up going to, like, six different proms.
Did you really?
Oh, at different schools?
Yeah.
That's fun.
Well, so, like, my boyfriend, my freshman year, was a senior.
and so we went to his prom.
But then also I had a guy friend who went to a different school.
So I went with him.
Like I just had a lot of good guy friends and girlfriends, but I had a lot of good guy friends.
So like when prom came around, I was like, yeah.
And I love to dress up.
Like if I could go to a ball every weekend, I would.
So fun.
Are you the same way?
Like trying on dresses?
I loved that.
I could do it now.
There's something different about like not dressing up for like a night on the town.
It's like dressing up for an event.
it just gives you like this really like sparkly royalty feeling and you're like I love that because it's like the bigger and better the dresses like you try to make it bigger and better like all of yours had all like sequins and all that and that's acceptable you're literally like one upping yourself all the time is what it is right yeah I mean I feel like I could have missed my calling and like royalty or something because I would have loved to get dressed up all the time you still can it's not too late yeah is there like a royal prince out there that I don't know about hello are you listening
Right now, because Morgan will date you.
I don't know.
Yeah, anybody out there?
Sophomore, junior, and senior year, you went?
Yes, yeah.
Did you go your freshman year?
Not freshman year.
Okay.
And then there wasn't anything too exciting senior year, really.
Did you guys have party buses?
Because party buses were huge when I was in high school.
No.
You never went on a party bus?
No.
Oh my gosh.
We always took party buses to prom and after prom.
I'm serious?
Okay, you had more fun than me.
I don't know.
Well, I went to a public school.
I mean, it's not, you know, I didn't go into anything crazy.
But, like, it was just part of the, I guess, thing passed down from the other classes.
They'd always do party buses.
And I had a sister that was two years older.
So everything she did, I was like, I want to do that.
So when it became time for me, I was like, we're doing party buses.
Yeah.
And it just kind of became this thing.
Like, we'd even have party buses for our birthdays.
Like, that's just kind of what you did for literally all of high school, for anything.
We did, like, a limo before homecoming.
coming one time, but that's like, we did not do that for prom.
I wish.
That's so crazy.
And we literally both were in the same city.
Yeah.
Different schools, but.
Right.
Well, mine was a private school and we were like college prep.
So a lot of the kids there was like, it was all studying and like serious about.
So it was kind of less, I mean, we did have the partyers, but like I think that could be like.
Basically because I was in public school, we're all parties.
I did not mean it that way.
It's very possible.
As far as my school, I don't know.
Yeah. No, that's fair. Well, and honestly, party buses were kind of taboo in a way because, like, you're dancing, you know, probably doing some grinding. You're not supposed to be doing at that age or whatever. So maybe that was part of it too. But yeah, well, and it's funny, too, as an adult being in Nashville and seeing all, like, the crazy party buses. And I'm like, hey, I used to love those as a kid. I wouldn't do them now as an adult unless, like somebody gets me really drunk. You wouldn't?
I mean, they look so fun.
They look fun.
Maybe it's the post-pandemic, me talking, but like I feel like it's wrong to do right now.
So maybe when like we're back to normal, I'd be like, okay, yeah, I'd want to go do that.
I know.
I feel like you would want to do those.
I mean, yeah.
I do like going dancing?
Like when this is opening back up, are you ready to go dancing again?
Yeah, that's like my favorite thing.
I used to go all the time.
Like I'm Dumbrium, like south and all those places.
Do you remember South?
Yes.
Oh, gosh.
Yeah.
Like an inch and roof and all.
Okay, yeah.
I would go to all this.
All this fun.
St. Roof is still there. And I think things are start with everything like, I think this weekend, every restriction is lifted in Nashville.
Oh, man.
Crazy. It's going to get crazy. It feels weird too because I'm like, are we doing something wrong?
I know. Are we going to get in trouble for being out here and doing things? But I mean, I'm excited about that.
I am too. What is the one thing you're really excited to do post pandemic?
I mean, concerts. Because I feel like that's all I did, you know. I mean, and you too, we're always going to shows and
everything. And it's just weird when, I mean, we would go on weeknights too. Yeah. You know,
like on Tuesday night. We were always jamming out to live music. Yes. And so now I'm just
trying to like adjust, what do I do? And I've actually gotten really good at just sitting on the
couch and like watching, you know, like the YouTube live shows they've done. I'm like, oh,
I kind of like this. Right. Do you feel like, I feel like I have significantly added to my age
with the pandemic. Like now I don't want to socialize. Yes. I thought it was just me.
I was like, is something wrong with me?
Like, I lost my ability to socialize with people.
Yes.
And just talk to them.
No, people would be like, hey, let's go do something.
I'm like, I don't think that's allowed yet.
Even though I full well know that we could do it, I just don't want to.
Yeah.
I'm still using the pandemic as an excuse, even though it's technically, you know, the lights at the end of the tunnel.
Yeah, there's not going to be an excuse.
What's our next excuse?
We don't have one.
I know.
Literally don't have one.
I feel like you're better than me, though.
And you go to the gym.
I'm still scared to even go to the gym.
But I'm going to get on it.
We can go together because you and I both box together.
So we can go.
I can get you back to your place.
Okay, good.
I'm not as good as you, but I'm a newbie compared to you.
No.
Hey, that stress relief of boxing is amazing.
It is.
There's nothing like it.
I mean, when you like imagine it's like someone you're mad at, I don't know.
Have you ever done that?
Yes.
It's all kinds of like anger that you didn't even realize you had.
And I didn't realize how much I needed it until like sometimes I'll be stuck working or something's going on and I can't get there.
And I'm like, no, like, I have to go because this is better for my mental health and my productivity if I go for an hour to myself and just punch a bag.
It really is.
Like everything about me has significantly gotten better because I make sure that's a priority.
See, that's good.
It's not even, I mean, the physical benefits are wonderful.
Like, I feel really in great shape.
But like mentally, I'm just in a better place.
I feel like. Every time you leave, that's like that was the best feeling. I'm just like, I feel so
accomplished. I got all my anger out. I'm like, now I don't want to punch a human anymore. I just,
you know, punched a bag. I know. No, that's so true though. It really is. Well, we'll get into some more
Nashville recommendations. But first, you guys can hear all of our crazy, awkward stories from prom,
you know, like 10 plus years ago. Number seven. Here we are again prom season. Are they having proms for the
most part? Some places are, but I've heard of some places completely canceling it.
Let's get that prom going here. Yeah. My prom, I had two of them. Did you guys have junior and senior
prom? No, I did. Just senior. We were a small school, so, you know, for me, I think we needed
both classes to make a full prom. You know, we had 55 kids in my graduating class, I think, and we
were one of the biggest classes in my school in a long time. So junior prom was fine. I went with a girl
went to Jessiville.
I think she's just like,
yeah, I'll go.
It'd be fun to go.
I think she was a 10th grader.
I was 11th grader.
No big deal.
Took her home afterward.
Like to her house.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
I didn't take anybody to my house.
And I didn't take her home.
Yeah, yeah, good point.
Okay, sorry, just clarifying.
I was such a loser.
I thought that was just known.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like dropped her off.
My senior year, there was a girl at church,
and I was like, oh, I'm going to ask her.
She didn't go to my school.
She went to Jessville, too.
Everybody went to Jessville.
And so,
I was like, I'm going to ask her.
And so we were in the same youth group and Sunday school class for all of my time in Mountain Pine from like sixth grade all the way to my senior year of high school.
And her parents were big parts of the church and I really liked them.
And I was like, okay, I'm going to ask her to go to prom.
And so I got, I called her and I hated calling girls on the phone.
I was not good at it.
Nobody really wanted to talk to me.
I was like, hey.
And so I got her on and I kept her on the phone for like an hour.
There was nothing to talk.
So what's up?
So school good?
What are you learning?
Just drug it out.
And then finally, I was like, well, I guess I'll go.
And she was like, okay.
She had no idea why I called her.
And I was like, hey, so would you go to prom?
At the very end of the call.
And she was like, what?
I was like, I don't know if you're busy, but we have a prom coming up.
Would you want to go?
And she was like, I guess.
And so I wasn't sold that her heart was in it anyway.
I felt like since she was in church with me, she felt like she had to say yes
because God be mad at her if she didn't.
And so she went.
And so I was like, all nervous.
For weeks, I was nervous.
I got my tucks and I decided to go black tucks a white bowtie with a white vest.
I look like a total tool.
You know, I was total, I was total tool 100% though.
No, my look was not good.
And so I was so nervous and I was like, okay, so I take her to prom.
And we gather early.
I think we're one of the first one or two couples there.
Because you know me, I like to get places on time.
Yes.
We have to wait in line for pictures, did the pictures, dance, it's fine.
Eight, you know, had a good time.
And then when it was over, everybody was like, hey, we're going over to this guy's house.
big after prom party.
And she was like, oh, that's cool.
And I was like, I don't, I don't feel comfortable going to a party.
And she was like, oh, okay.
So as soon as prom was over, put her in the old Subaru, drove her.
It was like 10.45, dropped her off.
Nothing.
No smooching.
Went to bed.
That was it.
That was it.
It was awkward from the phone call to get in there early, to take her home right
afterward.
Did y'all dance?
A little bit.
but mostly if I danced
I went like dancing with my guy friends I don't know why
this whole thing feels weird now talking about it
I was just an awkward guy
and so it never
worked out for me and then we always
we always had prom
we never really talked much after that either
but it was really awkward I was really hoping that was gonna be my first real
you know my first real shot I think we all did
what she's doing now
well Garth asked that song
what she's doing now I don't know
but it's pretty your prom
I, the only really awkward thing I can think of is that I didn't get asked to prom.
So. Oh, that's, that stinks.
I know.
So you didn't go?
No, I asked somebody.
I ended up asking my ex-boyfriend.
We had broken up, but he was a junior and I was a senior.
So not only that, I took a junior and I was a senior and I had to ask him.
And I remember going over to his house because I was so, yeah, I was just embarrassed and self-conscious about it.
But, I mean, given that I had dated him before, I felt okay.
a-ish about it, but I remember vividly clear his day going over to his house and having to tell
him that I didn't have a date to prom. And if he wanted to go with me, that'd be awesome. And he
did. He went with me. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Did you give it a cutoff to when no one asked?
I don't know. Because I'm wondering when you finally give up that no one's going to ask.
Oh, I did not. All my friends had been asked. Everybody in my group had a date. Why do you think
weren't at? Because I had no one would have. Everybody in my group had a date. I don't know.
There wasn't some random guy at school you knew that you'd be like, hey, why don't
we go. This would be fun. Nope, they had dates. Everybody had a date. And then that was my most recent
boyfriend that I had broken up with was this guy. So I took him. And that, and yeah. Did you have
fun? Yeah, we had so much fun. Like, he's fun. So it was good. But that was the only, the night was
great. We had like a lot of, like, our friends had a big party. Like, everything was perfect about prom,
except for the fact that I didn't get asked. What were you saying happened to your niece?
Well, she just had her prom and she wore her dress.
She looked beautiful, her dress.
Like, I guess she felt like she wanted to wear those like inserts, like those chicken cutlets, like on her chest area.
Yes.
Which is not necessary, but she did it anyway.
And I guess they fell out when she was on the dance floor.
And then her friends started throwing them around.
And then she, the next morning, she went out into the driveway and they were stuck to her windshield.
Somebody, like, picked it.
She's like, well, maybe people won't know that they were mine.
And then when she went out to her car, they were stuck to the windshield.
Were they doing that to be mean?
I think that they were just like, oh, Adeline's chicken gutlets and threw it on there.
No, I don't think it was a mean thing, but you never know.
I mean, kids, she was acting like it was a playful, funny thing.
But then you never know, I worry that I wonder if part of her is a little embarrassed.
But, you know, I mean, I was just pumped that she even got to have a prom because they had to wear masks.
Oh.
With their dresses.
That's tough.
You take it off for the picture, at least?
For sure.
Okay.
But then, yeah, they had to mask it up.
Wow.
I'd have been getting out of there and going to a party.
Even I would have been getting out of there going to a party.
They went to a party and she said they played water pong, like beer pong but with water.
And she's so aware as it was water.
I'm like, okay.
Well, I didn't go to the party because it wasn't water pong never planned.
Most awkward thing about prom, Eddie?
Well, see, mine's kind of weird.
So I'd gotten in trouble about two weeks before prom.
I already had my date and everything and my parents said, you're not going.
I did something pretty bad.
and they're like, you're not going to prom.
Your parents were shutting you down from prom.
Yes.
What did you do?
I threw a party without them knowing and I got busted in my house.
And that's set you down from prom?
Yes.
And so my dad was like, he's not going.
And my mom's like, please, come on.
Finally, I begged them.
They said, yes, but you cannot go to Mexico.
I was raised seven miles north of Mexico.
It was a thing, prom night to go have dinner like you were 21 years old in Mexico,
order all you want, drink all you want, and then go to prom.
Because it's legal there.
Well, yeah.
I mean, you can be 12 years old and it's legal.
there. So they said don't go to Mexico. Prom night. I get my date. All my friends are like,
we're going to Mexico. So we go to the restaurant and I'm big shot walking to the restaurant.
The first two people I see when I walk into the restaurant are my dad's best friends. And I'm like,
oh my, you've got to be kidding me. And they look at me like, what are you doing here? And they
were so cool. They said, you know what? Enjoy the rest of your night. Don't worry. We won't tell
your dad you're here. Liars. Because the next day, I got, I was.
woke up. My dad said, how was Mexico? So that was my big embarrassing. Do you get in trouble for that?
Of course I did. So I was grounded for another month after that. Another month? Yes, it was bad.
Wow. Okay. Lunchbox? I mean, there's nothing really awkward about prom. When you're named Prom King,
there's nothing really awkward about it. Everybody loves you. You're the center of attention. People want to be around you.
That's how my prom went and went up on stage. Got that crown. I still wear it to this day.
He's not joking. Morgan, how was prom for you?
It was really good. I didn't have any awkward moments, but my senior prom, I ended up in
a tornado shelter because a tornado touched down outside of our prom.
That's pretty cool.
Yeah, so we spent like an hour and a half in shelter.
That's a good story.
It's a cool story.
It made you didn't get hit, right?
No, we were sitting in the gym all together.
There was thankfully like a little bouncy house in there for the after prom.
And so we basically were just in our dresses hanging in the bouncy house waiting for the tornado to pass.
That's a fun story.
Better than mine.
Yeah.
You go a problem with me.
Okay, I'll drop you off.
Okay, we're first here.
It's the best bits of the week.
With Morgan number two.
Coming in at number six this week, we ate the world's smelliest fruit.
Well, I did.
Okay.
Spoiler alert.
The show brought out the spinning wheel and somebody had to eat the world's smelliest fruit,
which is a durian, I think, is how you pronounce that, right?
So I've never heard of it.
I know.
Apparently it's like from Southeast Asia.
It's a very like delicacy kind of thing there, but it looks so strange.
Like looks out of this world different.
But I had to eat it.
Yeah.
I need to know what, what was that like?
Yeah, because I saw it and it was disgusting looking up close.
I will say, like, the taste, like, this is one of those situations where you cannot judge a book by its cover.
Because the taste was amazing.
And I've read online about it, and apparently, like, people turn it into ice cream and, like, make all of these things out.
And I totally get it because it reminds me, and I tried to make up the word on the show, a banana, like a pineapple and a banana.
Yeah.
Because it has, like, the.
creamy texture of a banana, but it's sweetness of a pineapple and then like a yogurt kind of
cream as well.
That sounds perfect.
It's really good for smoothies or anything.
Right.
Smoothies or ice cream.
But like I am such a texture person with food.
Person.
I'm a texture person.
It's fine.
And so like looking at it, I was like, I was getting myself grossed out over nothing
because I was just looking at it and grabbing it.
And it just like, honestly, it looked like so many gross things in my mind.
like NSFW things and I was just like I cannot think this way I just have to like grab it and not
think so as it hit my mouth I wanted to not like it but I liked it and I would encourage other
people to get it although we learned that it's $27 a pop to get a durian that's a lot but it's bigger
than I thought too for a fruit I mean it's pretty big I would say it's the size of a small
watermelon yeah uh-huh but then it's spiky also don't touch it I tried to hold one for a photo and
I was getting poked all over the place it is like a pineapple and that's it's it's
But yeah, it was so strange.
So there's that.
And you know, in this next segment, we relive all of that.
But Abby, have you ever had a food?
And you're like, this is terrible.
I will never eat this again.
I just don't like seafood.
All of it.
Like fish or anything.
Oh, okay.
So, I mean, I cut out so much of everything.
Like the whole seaweed diet.
Everything.
Yeah.
I mean, fish, like calamari.
Anything that swims, I just don't like it.
I don't like anything that smells.
I think that smells bad too.
That's why with that, like, did the smell bother you on that?
It was a smell as a texture, though, which is also why I don't eat seafood.
Okay.
Yeah.
So we're similar in that.
Yours is a smell.
Mine's texture.
Well, the shrimp, like, shrimp, I can't do that because of the texture.
It's like the inside.
Don't even look at it.
I'm like, no, thank you.
I do.
Yeah.
Okay.
It's like the smell and texture.
If they're both gross, I'm probably not going to eat it.
No, I'm with you, too.
And a lot of people, like, really love seafood as part of,
like a main diet, which is crazy to me. I know. And I know it's healthy, you know, it has high
protein. Oh, people like a love sushi. Could never get into sushi. I don't like seaweed. I love the
parts of like, I could eat a vegetarian sushi. But the seaweed part, I don't like seaweed. I, I,
I don't like seaweed. I like tried it. And I was like, what is this green stuff? And what did
you? What did you have it as? Like, I've tried the dried, you know, like they have it,
Trader Joe's it's like the dried strips of it or whatever. That's how I've tried it and I didn't
like it. No, we were at, and this is probably where I should, I should have, like, actually
gone to, like, a sushi restaurant. But we were at, like, a payway kind of place. And they had
sushi and I never, you know, when people find out that I don't eat meat or that I haven't done,
like, eating a lot of seafood, they're always like, oh, let's dare Morgan to eat something.
That was one of these scenarios and I had to eat sushi. And I hated it. I was like, I do
not like this. But I like, like, rice and avocado and carrots and things that are in sushi.
I know. But I don't like seaweed, which is what, like, holds it together.
Right. Right. Okay.
Or like those like little, you know when they make, you know a crab ragoon, but it's like the rice paper.
Yes.
Do you know what I'm talking about?
It's like clear.
And you like, I don't like that.
Oh, you don't?
Why?
I don't know.
texture.
It feels like I'm eating like paper.
Yes.
Like a dried.
Like a tissue paper, but like flexible.
It is weird.
It's just very strange that you would eat something that like wraps it like paper.
So I can see that.
I'm just very bizarre.
Okay, so seaweed. Is there something else? Is there like a food that you like really can't eat?
Green olives. I can't do olives. Green olives, I feel,
olives in general, I feel like are a popular one. Like you either love it or you hate it.
Uh-huh. I could eat like a whole bowl of olives. Oh, really? You could. Green olives? Yeah, green olives. Black olives.
Okay. I like black olives. Yeah, but not green. But you won't be drinking a dirty martini any time soon.
No, and spicy. No spicy. No spicy. No spicy things. Yeah. Okay. So. So,
what's like the spiciest you can go?
Like a mild salsa?
Sure.
I'm such a wimp.
I have the most like bland taste palette ever.
I mean, I have like chicken salads.
It's kind of boring.
I should probably step up my game because I don't like a lot of food.
That's okay.
I'd rather have a bland taste because I feel like I eat all the time because I don't have a bland taste.
I wish I did sometimes.
Yeah.
Are there anything you don't like?
Salantro.
That's about it.
Which is really weird thing to not like.
but like whenever it's on there, it's just spicy and not really like spicy things.
And cilantro always like kicks it up a notch.
Yeah, I can see that.
I don't really like it either because it has a strong flavor.
Like you can tell.
If they're like, oh, there's, you can tell it's in there.
Oh, somebody tries to eat.
There's no cilantro on that.
I'm like, yes.
Yeah, there is.
I can tell it from a mile away.
Yeah.
Okay.
So, but Nashville too, we have so many places to eat in here.
And last week when I had lunchbox on, we talked about some, like, favorite Nashville spots.
So we're going to start doing some Nashville recommendations because
everybody's going to start coming here, you know, with post-COVID life.
What would be your top three Nashville restaurant recommendations?
So I always go to the same places, and I love Chewy's, which is not Nashville.
So sorry, I know.
No, but Hattie B's love it.
I mean, that's always on the list.
That's super popular.
I're going to think what others.
Like, I go, they're not, they're all chains.
I'm so boring.
Oh, that's a Kansas thing.
We come from chains.
I know.
Like, I really do just go to the same places.
Have you ever been to Coco's Italian kitchen?
No.
I've heard it's good, is it?
So good.
So this little mom and pop shop, like very authentic Italian.
And yes, I know I say Italian weird.
I always have to preface that.
But it has like, not only does it have like authentic Italian food that has like pasta,
pizza, sandwiches, salads,
literally everything that you could get.
And then they have this little side that you could walk in, you could get gelato, you can get
homemade chocolates, you could get in this little section that's like a little Italian
farmer's market, for lack of a better term, and you just buy a bunch of stuff to make
Italian at home if you wanted to.
And it's all authentic.
What?
I didn't know that.
It's a cute place in the world.
They have a cute little patio too that you can go sit uncover.
They even have bags that you can throw there.
It's just like a really cool spot over in West Nashville.
Oh my gosh.
So I need to go.
I know.
Because I've like seen it.
I have this feeling, Abby, that we need to get you out on National War.
No, but really, I feel like the past year and there's so much new stuff, probably since I haven't been on like a year.
I've been really staying home.
So maybe not restaurants, but you do love to go out to bars.
So what about bars?
Top three bars.
Top three bars.
Like on Broadway?
Anywhere.
Okay.
I like Jason Aldeens on Broadway.
I think it's fun.
Great spot.
Yeah, because there's different floors, you know.
And that's top, top floors.
Yeah.
The pandemic was hopping.
I don't know what it's like now.
Yes.
I know.
This is more, I guess, a restaurant of a blue moon.
It's on the river.
And it's kind of by where we live.
Great moon is going to be so mad that you just gave away his spot.
I know.
Should I not?
Should we bleep this out?
Nope.
Nope.
It's a good spot.
It's really cool.
And it definitely is a local spot for sure.
I know.
I love it.
And it has gotten really popular.
It's on the lake.
Yeah.
Wait.
It's on the Cumberland.
Yeah.
It's really pretty.
Yeah.
But last, yeah, it doesn't matter.
But last time I went, the wait was an hour and a half.
Yes.
So I probably shouldn't have said that.
But also.
It's not going to be three hours.
No.
But I also love Brewhouse West.
I always go there and they have bushwhackers.
I don't know.
Have you ever had a bushwhacker?
Yes, I love Bushwhackers.
I mean, your dinkers will put you on your butt.
Yeah, they will.
They're dangerous.
They're like a little ice cream flow with a whole lot of alcohol that you don't even know what's in it.
You have no idea.
You're like, oh, this is so good.
Is there even alcohol in here?
Yes.
But I love it there.
It's kind of like a hole in the wall.
It's like a biker bar kind of.
Yeah.
You know, like really casually.
Is that a different one than brewhouse and Midtown then?
Yeah, Broadway Brewhouse.
They're all going to have the same menu.
It's just called like Broadway Brew House.
There's one in Midtown.
But your favorite one is the one in the west side.
Uh-huh.
It's just more like chill, casual.
And it's kind of like only locals really go to it.
Because more the tourists go to the one like downtown.
Well, and since we're sticking with the west side,
another cool spot over there is the tailgate.
brewery like the first location.
They have this entire outside area.
It's a brewery, so you're drinking beer.
But also, like, they have, they've implemented, like, a mac and cheese truck within their
food menu.
Wait, excuse me?
I was just there, and I did not know about this.
So if you look on their menu, you can get, like, cheese fries that also have mac and
cheese on.
What?
Okay.
Mind blowing.
Like, so yummy.
And they also added, like, a little dessert shop out there.
I did see that.
It's, like, sweet.
What is it?
Sweet and Three?
Yeah, yes, I think so.
Yeah. So, like, you can go get
beers, you can get food, which they
have really good pizzas too, or
like this, you know, mac and cheese little
collaboration they did with a food truck,
or you can get sweets and you can bring your dogs.
Like, it's just a perfect spot.
Yeah, last time we were there, there was trivia
and everybody had dogs. I was like, I'm in heaven.
Yes.
So we just gave everybody all the best places in West Nashville.
I know, only West Nashville.
Because, like, the reality is
there's so many great places, but, like,
West Nashville is up and coming.
and it has some really cool spots.
And kind of where we live.
I kind of stay more in my area, but what are your favorites, like in Nashville?
No, that I mean.
I keep sharing like a bunch of them and I'm like, wow, I haven't realized how many places I have
eaten in.
I think of Nashville.
So I need to get on your level then because I'm behind.
Well, I try to.
Every time, if somebody wants me to go out to eat, I'm like, we're trying somewhere new.
Because I like try to keep trying.
And then when I've like done all of the new places, I'm like, okay, I can go back to
my favorites because now I have and I do.
of what's all out there. Right. But it's really hard to do that in Nashville because there's so many.
There are so many. I think that's what it is. It gets overwhelming. Because there's just so many that
are good. You're not really going to go wrong. No matter. Another place on the West side that I really
love. And there's one of these in a few different places in Nashville, but I love the West location is
ML Rose. Good beer. I've heard they have really great burgers. I personally love their sweet
potato waffle fries and their homemade ranch. I get those or their cassidias and I drink a bunch of beer
and I bring Remy on the patio.
It's like my favorite spot.
Yeah.
Clearly I spend a lot of time on patios with Remy.
What's wrong with that?
Yeah, that's the best.
I know.
So there you have it.
There's so many Nashville recommendations for y'all,
downtown and on the west side and, you know, even more.
And plus, I mean, we always post around.
So, you know, on Instagram and all the things,
make sure you follow us, you know, because they're there too.
But here's the segment of us trying to figure out who's going to eat the world's
smelliest fruit.
Sorry for the spoiler alert.
It's wonderful.
Number six.
All right, this is the world's smelliest fruit.
I smelled it before the break it.
It surprisingly was as bad as advertised.
Because I thought, okay, we're going to do a bit.
Well, hey, wink, wink.
It's stinky.
But no, it's bad.
In my eyes water a little bit.
It's called a durian.
It's a spiky odorous fruit native to Southeast Asia.
And how this came about is I was given an article from the show called Would You Eat It?
And they had a chef, a kid who seven,
and a dog all eat this as a bit to see what they thought.
And I thought, oh, it's not like a great bit for us, too.
I didn't even know this fruit existed.
It does look like a sea creature, doesn't?
It's all spiky.
Yes.
So we have a wheel here.
There it is.
All of our names are on the wheel.
If it lands on you, the first time you can buy your way off the wheel for $50.
$50.
And that will be a charitable contribution to St. Jude.
Wow.
But the second person that it lands on, if you don't want to buy your way out,
has to actually eat it.
Okay.
Hey, let Amy smell it, Scooba, if you walk it over to her.
I'm...
Is it sharp, pokey?
Yeah.
It is?
Okay, Scoob, Steve's walking it to Amy.
Just take a small wish.
Just go.
Why is it look that way?
Go.
I mean, it looks like a brain.
Oh.
That is gross, and it looks gross.
It smells like a sweaty sock that's been forgotten about.
That's what the Internet said.
Like a sock that's been freaking.
Like, oh, I forgot that was there and I worked out.
It's kicked it under the dryer.
Really does smell like that?
Yeah.
Yeah.
You want to take a little sniffy?
Yeah, I do.
A little sniffy whiffy.
Here, I'll go to it.
Oh, God.
Now it looks like a museum exhibit.
We're walking up to it.
The inside, like, I don't even can't.
Eddie's all up in there.
He's looking.
He likes it.
Corona.
I can't smell anything.
Oh, that's right.
Eddie had COVID.
No, I smell the hint of it.
And what I smelled does smell kind of like dirty sauce.
We forgot.
You don't have all your smell back.
I have to get my nose in it to smell.
Should Eddie be taken off the board?
No, I can taste.
I can still taste.
But the taste in the scary part.
I mean, it smelled terrible.
I just had to get my nose in it.
Okay, here we go.
This first spin of the wheel, you can buy your way out of it.
Ready?
Here we go.
Let's spin the wheel.
Come on.
Yes.
Oh.
Mike D.
All right, Mike D.
Enjoy.
Mike D.
Will you be buying your way out of it?
Are you going to eat the Dorian?
I will eat it.
Oh, okay.
Wow.
Is that how you say it, a Dorian?
A durian?
So how do you eat it?
It's already cut?
Yeah, you just, now I open up the lip.
You just go in there and grab.
There's that lip.
That's disgusting.
There's seed pockets, and there's multiple different fruits in each seed pocket.
I peel back the lip for you.
Can you come help us?
Yeah, sure.
Because we'll probably do this with more than one person.
Oh, what?
Why?
You just said, we spin the wheel once and someone eats it.
Yeah, come on, man.
You now you're making it totally different.
Amy, in line.
What?
Sometimes you have to pivot.
Yeah, I understand that.
Yeah, it's just situational.
I know.
Okay, we have this thing.
Can you see it on camera right now, Eddie?
What does he do?
Does he need to fork?
Yeah, that might say.
Very cool.
You can just grab with your hand.
Oh, oh.
That looks disgusting.
It looks like inside of a pumpkin.
Yeah, or a body.
Oh, good description.
It looks like a scrambled egg almost.
It is yellow like a scrambled egg, but pumpkin texture instead of a pumpkin.
All right, Mike, grab it, go.
Oh, he's thinking about changing his mind.
It's a little.
You want to buy out of it?
I mean, I kind of do.
Now, this looks disgusting.
I didn't see the inside of it.
I thought it was just going to look like fruit.
No.
It looks like an alien.
It does.
Do you want to buy out of it?
You know, if I still can, I would like to buy my money out of it.
Okay.
All right, he'll donate 50 bucks to St. Jude.
Here we go.
Oh, great.
If I still can, I want to buy out of it.
Does the second spin get to buy out?
No.
That's it.
Okay, I'll tell you what, second speak about out for 100 bucks.
Okay.
Oh, my God.
Okay, go.
Hey, it is.
What it is?
I didn't know there's a fundraiser,
but here we go.
Let's spin that wheel.
Oh my gosh, please no.
Come on.
Come on.
Come on.
No.
No.
No.
Yes.
Oh, yeah.
Eat that.
I will buy out of it for $100.
Come on, bones.
Think of what the ratings.
I said it before we spun.
I know.
I will buy.
Now St. Jude has made $150.
But think about the people listen.
They want to, they want to hear.
you eat it. The next one to buy out of it
is $150.
Scott, this is already out of control.
All right, here we go. Let's spin the wheel.
No, no, no, no. Come on.
Come on, please, please, world. Please, world.
Go, keep going.
Like what? Morgan number two.
You have the odds.
I don't have $150 dollars that's
been on the donation.
What?
Take it to the face.
Take it like a spoon. Take it to the face.
Take it to the face. Take it to the face.
Take it to the face.
Take it to the face.
All right, this is called it.
Duryan, it is a world's smelliest fruit.
Stick your nose in there.
You smell it?
Oh, yeah, it does not smell good.
You can grab just that piece right there.
Got that piece.
It does look like an alien.
Pull it out of there.
It's so flimy.
How big of a piece do you want her to eat, bones?
That's good.
She's getting a chunk.
Oh, that's disgusting.
Eat it.
Take it to the face.
Take it to the face.
Take it to the face.
Take it to the face.
Oh, what if it's amazing?
Ooh, she likes it.
Okay.
It tastes like a pineapple.
It does.
It looks like a banana.
A banana.
It sounds delicious.
So it smells bad.
It looks bad.
But it tastes good.
She's eating more.
Wow.
Oh, man, y'all just spent $150 for a banana.
We donated.
Yeah, it's like creamy.
It kind of tastes like yogurt.
Yeah.
You like it?
Oh yeah.
It doesn't look good.
Like, don't look at it.
Just eat it blindly.
That's what Caitlin does with me.
What?
She doesn't look at it, but she just kisses it.
Yeah.
She's like, I'm not going to look.
Oh, man.
That's not true.
Where do you buy this, Scoop, Steve?
You can buy this at any, like, Asian market.
Like, 99 ranch is very popular in the West Coast.
Any kind of world marketplace.
Where'd you get it here?
I got here at KSW World.
Like, just like a World Marketplace?
Yeah, they're expensive.
This was $27.
What?
One fruit?
So it's a delicacy.
These are like usually $5 a pound.
So this is a smaller durian.
Wow.
Oh my goodness.
Yeah.
So it's really good.
Okay.
Well, so we learned it smells awful.
Yes.
But it actually tastes pretty good.
Okay.
Morgan can't get enough now.
Yeah, I kind of want to eat the whole thing.
And Mike, we lost money.
Well, you need to because it was $27.
Yeah.
Don't let a bite of that go to waste.
Yeah.
It's the best bits of the week with Morgan number two.
This week, Bobby talked about the debate he's kind of been having with himself.
He's about to have a father-in-law with his fiancee, Caitlin, after they get married.
And while he doesn't really know what to call his father-in-law, because his first name doesn't feel right and Mr.
You know, whatever also doesn't feel right.
And dad is definitely not up his alley.
So you can hear Bobby talk about why he's been feeling this way, why the words love and dad have always been hard for him.
And it's all related to a caller who called in.
relates to Bobby with this.
So kind of an emotional but also a really cool segment because Bobby talked a lot about his past
and how he's feeling with things right now.
Number five.
Let's go over to Dia in Wisconsin.
Yeah.
How are you?
Yeah.
Good morning, studio.
Morning.
Just had to call because I can relate Bobby to not having like dad in your vocabulary.
That completely resonates with me.
My dad was unfortunately killed when I was five.
in a logging accident.
And so I don't remember using that word for me.
And I'm now 48.
I'm married.
I've known my father-in-law for 18 years.
And every now and then I'll try.
And it just seems so taboo for me to call him dad because I just don't use the word.
Like my husband is a great dad.
I use it in, you know, relationship to him.
And like when we're talking to one another, we're like, hey, dad, what about this?
And we're talking about the kids.
That's completely comfortable because he's their dad.
But for me, it's just like, I just can't use it.
Even at 48, like, I can't.
It's so strange to use.
So I get where you're coming from, like, not knowing what to call him.
And is dad a thing?
Like, or you call him by his first name because, you know, he's going to be your father-in-law
and you want to have a connection.
And, yeah, I don't really call my father-law by his first name.
all the time either. So it's just, it's kind of a weird dance.
Yeah, let's peel back the onion for a second.
That's a good point. I never called anybody dad my whole life. So that word, that is just a weird
thing to come out of my mouth. It was like the L word until I was able to finally say it to
Caitlin. I said it all the time, until I love her all the time. Love? Yeah. I never said it
to anybody. And so I just, I would now, now I can say it to, I'm just like Santa Claus with it,
with a big old bag of love. I just pass it out all over the place. Well, maybe you'll get that way
with dad. Totally. I don't know about totally. I don't know that. I don't know that
that's the case because I don't have I don't feel like I had a dad and I don't feel like
Arkansas Keith was close to that but I was a teenager when my mom married him so I was
kind of wire he came in at a good point to help me eat food you know like really like
I got three meals a day once we were with Arkansas Keith but I don't think I ever used
the word and so I don't know that I will ever call my future father-in-law dad but I don't
feel like I can call him by his first name because that feels disrespectful and
And then I don't feel like I can call him Mr.
because that feels too formal.
Just Mr.
No, well.
Oh, Mr.
Whatever.
Yeah.
But I don't know how long you're going to be able to keep up.
Hey man.
Hey man, you're going to eat that?
Hey man, how you doing?
But sometimes I just look him in the eye.
Right.
But do you ever have to call him on the phone?
I just stare him.
Yeah, but he answers.
He knows it's me.
Oh, and you say, hey man.
Yeah, I'm like, what's up?
Don't forget.
I asked him to marry Caitlin on the phone.
Yeah.
He lives in Oklahoma.
I was like, hey, bruh.
Mind if I'm married
Oh, Dada?
Is it just the word dad?
Can you call them Pops?
I don't think I would call anybody anything.
Okay, so it's not just the word.
But maybe when I'm a dad, it'll be different.
Maybe that opens up.
Yeah, because you're going to be dad.
That opens up.
And you call your father-in-law dad.
Yes, I do.
Not when my dad's around, but if it's just me and him,
hey, dad, how does this shirt look on me?
Is that weird?
No, I love it.
I think that Eddie's in the minority with that.
I could be wrong, but based on a poll in this room,
lunchbox and I don't do that.
No chance.
Ray do you?
No, no, no.
You have one dad.
So, Eddie's in the minority.
I mean, I've also known him for more than 20 years.
So, I mean, he's been in my life.
At what point did you start to do that?
After we got married.
Right after?
Yeah, I would say like a year after we got married.
Was it uncomfortable for them too?
He's like, wait, I'm not your dad?
No.
Uh-uh.
Uh-uh.
And in the phone, it's dad number two.
That's what he's under.
And then also my mother-in-law, she's mama.
Wow.
I call her mama?
Yep.
Does your oldest son still call you daddy?
Yeah, sometimes.
At 13?
Yeah, but it's crazy.
My little foster baby, he calls me dad.
Not daddy.
Every other kid calls me daddy in the house, except my little foster baby who's two.
Ramundo, would you call your mother-in-law mom?
No, I believe I've done that before joking around and she's like, don't call me mom.
Oh, wow.
Maybe try mama because that's what Eddie does.
Are you close to them?
I'm very close to him, but they're funny like that and they're just like, I mean, she's not my mom.
And her dad is a very manly man and he's not going to let me call him dad.
Do you call him by their first?
name or do you call him Mr. Irmus? You do? You do?
Mm-hmm. That's what I do. You do? Yeah. Yeah, I don't. I'm like, sometimes I'll just mumble a sound to get him to look like I do with my dogs. Like if I need Stanley, I'll be like, if I need Stanley, I'll be like, go go, go, go. And then Stanley will look at me and I'll be like, hey, Stanley will look at me and I'll be like, hey, so I'm going to chick-fil-ay. That's the way. It's awkward. It is. It's the way I live my life.
Thank you for your call and your story, Dia.
We appreciate that.
Any advice you'd like to give me?
You know, just go with your gut.
Maybe you want to sometimes sit down and have a conversation.
If he's like an open communicator, maybe you guys can just have a conversation.
Like, you know, I want to be able to, you have a title.
I just don't know what you're comfortable with.
Well, he's already told me to call him by his first name.
Oh, he said that?
Yeah, but I don't feel comfortable doing it.
Why?
That's his name.
Well, and then he's also got like two first names.
Well, he's got like the Jim Bob?
Well, no.
If someone's name was like Dan and Danny, some people call him Danny, it's not his name.
Some people call him Dan.
Oh, God.
I don't even know what he was named to call.
But I thought you just said he told you what to call him.
Yeah, but it doesn't feel right.
Okay.
I'm waiting for the moment to be right.
All right.
So for now I go, cuckoo!
Hey, yeah!
All right.
Adia, thank you very much for your call.
We really appreciate that.
Thank you.
All right, bye-bye.
Have a great day, guys.
Bobby Bones.
It's the best bits of the week with Morgan number two.
It's always a fun week when we have somebody like Keith Urban on the show.
He came in this week not only talked about his new tattoo and his collaboration with Taylor Swift,
but he also performed some of his biggest hits.
God whispered your name, you'll think of me, I mean, just him in a guitar.
And that's why you get to listen to when Keith Urban comes in the studio.
It's so cool and he's such a down-to-earth guy.
So if you miss this interview, make sure you listen to it now.
But then also go to Bobbybones.com and watch his birthday.
performance and the interview again because it's all good and it's Keith Irvin.
Number four, the Friday morning conversation with Keith Urban.
What you say?
It's so weird being up here.
Yeah, you're definitely on display.
Thank you for being on display.
Keith Durbin, everybody.
Yes.
How you been?
I've been good.
Have you been traveling at all?
We've been back and forward a little bit, yeah.
Does that mean too?
Because I saw that you were doing the voice again in Australia.
That's a long back and forth though.
I came back and we were there in July, end of July when Nick started a
film down there, which was a couple of months. And then she had a film in Ireland in November.
And then we were back in Australia for Christmas. And then I started the voice down there in
February. But it was only eight weeks. So we were done by middle of March and middle of April.
And then we came over and I did the ACMs. What do you do when you're on set with your wife and
she's shooting? Do you just hang out in the trailer or do you go and walk through the woods and write music?
I actually haven't been on the set in forever because there's so many COVID protocols in place that you can't just rock up there anymore.
Not right now anyway.
So you just get a hotel where she is?
Or do you just not see her?
The Belfast turnaround was really quick, so we didn't go.
And then she said she was there and back pretty quick.
In your home lifestyle, because you do have two A-list celebrity superstars, do you have any chores?
Like, do you have to actually do a chore?
Of course.
Like, what is a chore you have to do around the house?
Just taking out garbage and fixing.
things that break and they always break.
Can you fix things?
I can fix a lot more than I used to.
When you go to Australia, you have to do two weeks quarantine.
And we're at our place, and I'm talking like where nobody can come in or out for two weeks.
Hardcore.
Completely locked down.
Two police officers at the gate.
No way.
Government police officers.
Making sure you don't leave or no one comes in?
Both 24 hours a day for two weeks.
Wow.
And you have to do telemedicine check-ins every day.
So you're basically FaceTiming with your GEO.
and showing everybody taking their attempts and showing the result every day.
It's crazy.
But it works.
Yeah, right.
But the point of that was, man, things break.
We have a house that's like 120 years old.
So things break.
I can't get anybody to come and fix anything.
I learned a lot about everything.
With your live show, I wonder if anything is going to be different now,
because I've seen you play it many times, and you're just fantastic live.
But there's a part where you run into the crowd.
Right.
And there are people everywhere around you.
And they're all spitting on you and you're spitting on them.
It's a big part of the show, the Keith-Dervyn Spitfest.
It's making me question my whole past right now.
But does that change it all for you for a bit when you go back live?
You're still hopping out in the crowd?
It's going to change a lot for everybody, I think, in some degree.
And yet at the same time, I almost wonder if, you know, at some point it's just going to be very much like it was.
At some point, I don't know why it would radically change at some point.
It's going to be like it was.
That's my feeling.
Do you get a new tattoo?
Did you get a new tattoo?
Yeah, I got one on my hand.
I think I saw it at the ACMs for the first time
When did you get that? And what is that exactly?
It's just, well, it's sort of a Polynesian type design, I guess.
That hurt on the hand?
Yeah.
That looks extremely painful.
Do you go in and just go, I want to get this on my hand?
I know what I want.
Or do you walk into the shop and go, show me what you got?
This guy who I'd never work with before just sort of freehanded with a pen.
You let someone freehand a tattoo on you?
With a pen, first of all.
Okay.
And then I liked it and when we committed to it.
Dang.
And do you have someone come to your house or where you are and give you tattoos?
I got half of this at my house and the other half at his work.
Somebody, someone on the show saw you at the mall before pandemic walking around the mall.
And they were like, we saw Keith Irvin at the mall and we're like, there's no chance you saw Keith Irvin walking around the mall.
Do you ever walk around the mall?
Yeah, I was actually Christmas shopping when Taylor Swift texted me and said she had these songs she was going to record and what I want to sing on a couple.
I was literally in the food court at the mall, reading this text going, all right, send me the songs.
And I sat down and put my little AirPods in, was listening to these unreleased, swiftly songs.
And it was crazy.
The whole environment was bizarre, watching everyone walk around the food court while listening to these songs.
So she sent you the songs.
What I have heard and I have friends that have worked in that camp a bit, that it's so secretive.
Sometimes they will have someone come and bring you the song and play you the song.
and leave. But she just sent them to you
over text? She trusts you that much?
Yeah. Should you be trusted that much?
She should, yes. Yeah.
And he's sitting there thinking like if any
of these people shopping right now knew what I was listening
to, they were freaking out.
Yeah, yeah. But also I'm thinking Keith Urban's in the
food court. It doesn't matter what he's listening
to, he's just hanging out in the food court.
You were a part of fearless with Taylor.
Does she text? She calls you and go,
hey, will you do this? And was that the text?
She texted me. Yeah. And is it instant
yes? Um, instant
curiosity for sure definitely wanted to hear the songs and I love the fact that both
songs were unreleased if you don't mind I know you're sitting there with a guitar
would you play the new one that you do with pink oh okay because I tell you why it's
you know it's gonna play it a lot and I sometimes when I hear I just it stays in my
ear it's one of those earworms it doesn't leave and when you were coming in I was
like I wonder if Keith will play the new one yeah Amy you want to sing the high bit
oh yeah I was gonna see if you wanted me to be pink oh you want Bobby to sing
You don't want me to do that.
No.
Okay.
Something like a...
It's an auto on acoustic.
Remember much about last night.
We woke up on a couch, sun to rise.
Saw the living room through these bloodshot
eyes of mine gold, sober.
Didn't like that.
I came home late 4 a.m., but it's a Friday, babe.
And I've been working hard.
Can't you give me some space that is shouting out?
I got, oh, yeah, oh, but it just makes me miss you more, more.
Sing it, I mean.
I spend all my money drinking on my own day.
I don't ruin it.
In this bar, I just sat, he staring at my phone.
And I think second guessing where did I go wrong?
I know I'm proud, but I've had one too many companies.
Keith Urban.
Yeah.
When you write,
when this song gets to you and you're going,
okay, we're going to cut this,
was it proposed as a duet?
Yeah, it was.
Written as a duet.
Because some songs aren't,
and it's like,
I think this feels better,
but did you have pink in mind to start?
I was hoping she'd love the song.
And I'd never recorded anything with her.
So she was just sort of always on my big wish list
to try and find something.
I thought maybe one day we'd write something,
but this song came along and felt,
felt right. Has anyone ever turned you down? Oh sure. Absolutely. Who? Tell us all. I'll list them.
Oh, you're talking musically now. Oh. You don't have to tell us who, but you would send a song off
ago, I think this sounds great and they just are like, yeah, it's not for me. Oh, sure. Absolutely.
Yeah, because sometimes it's just not, it doesn't suit. Can you in your mind when you play guitar,
can you hear any melody and just recreate it with your hands? Ba-da-boo, boo, boo, boo, boo.
Wow. That's crazy. That is crazy. He did it.
At what point
At what point does that happen in your brain
when you're learning guitar
or was it naturally in you?
I don't know.
I think maybe naturally to begin with.
And in my head always playing.
I realized even when I was in school,
I was terrible at school.
I realized why,
because I was always playing guitar.
I didn't need a guitar to play guitar.
I was playing it in my head all the time.
When you hear a song, could you go home?
Like one of our jingles goes,
this is the Bobby Bone show.
Could you go?
Yeah, I got that.
No, probably.
Just like, you know exactly where it is.
Right.
Yes.
Prove it.
This is the Bobby Buncho.
That's like a space alien.
So here are my skills, my interplanetary skills, and we just can't identify.
That's what that is right there.
I don't speak any other languages, but English in this.
Heath Urban is here.
I'm sure there are so many people that come to you and go, hey, what is it, is it cap or cat?
And you'll think of me.
Yeah.
Right?
Yeah, right from the beginning.
And the answer is, cat.
Take your cat, yeah, tea with the tea.
Cat.
Yeah, he doesn't want the cat.
Right.
Cat feels a little angrier.
Would we agree with that?
Like a cap?
Yeah, I put up with the damn cat the whole time.
You can take it now.
Take your cat.
Okay, so as long as everybody knows, would you mind play a little bit of that for us?
Okay.
Look up early this morning around 4 a.
Moonshine and bright as headlights on.
interstate, pulled the covers over my head and tried to catch some sleep.
Parts of us kept keeping me away.
Ever since you found yourself in someone else's arms, I've been trying to best to get along.
That's okay.
There's nothing left to say, but take a cat.
Oh, I only sang the wrong words.
You psyched me out, Bobby.
I was thinking, is it cat or cat or cat, all of a sudden?
Take your records, take your freedom, take your memories I don't need them,
take your space and all your reasons, but you think of me, here it is.
Take your cat and leave my sweater, because we got nothing left to wear.
The fact, I feel a whole lot better.
As you can tell, I haven't sang this song in a long time.
So, what advice do you give me is I'm about to get married?
What is the, what's, not wedding advice.
his marriage advice. Don't ask me that. I only know it works for mine. And it'll end up being like
my marriage advice, which is not at all what it is. Everyone's got to figure out their own dance,
right? Every couple just figures out their own dance. They really do. I mean, what works for someone
doesn't work for someone else. Didn't you at one point do a show, fly across, have like Nicole's
birthday with her for a day and then fly all the way back across again? That's a legendary Keith
urban story. No, she was having an ultrasound because she was pregnant and she was shooting the film called
Australia, a Baz Luhrmann film. And it was being shot in Australia, obviously. And I was touring here
in the States. And she was going in for an ultrasound and I was like, well, I got this three-day period
in between because you lose a day when you fly down. So you leave her on a Monday, you get there on a
Wednesday. And we were playing on the Thursday night somewhere. So,
So I took off on Monday from here, landed Wednesday in the morning, went and had the ultrasound
with Nick.
We had lunch and then I got on the plane and flew back like that afternoon.
Nice.
Were you so dehydrated?
That is such a long flight.
It's the most bizarre question.
I mean, because when I fly anywhere, I get off and I'm just like, I'm so dehydrated.
I've flown to Australia.
That is the longest flight ever been on in my life.
It's a long one.
I realize that you travel a lot when I was telling you.
somebody a couple years ago. I was talking about what we're doing and I said we're going to do
this, this, this. And then I'm going to pop down to Australia and they went, wait, wait, did you just say
pop down to Australia? And I'm like, yeah, and they go, you know you travel a lot when you use the
phrase pop down to Australia. Yeah, it is a long flight. It's a long flight. Yeah. Who is it that you
hear right now that you're like, damn, so inspired by this because your guy who's always searching out,
you know, great new sound, great new music. Who is it that now you're like, man, I'm kind of on this
right now listening to it because you came in once and you told me about hobo and I became a I became a big
fan and I was just texting you pictures like man this song is great oh that's cool yeah who is it now
feel like I'm waiting for that thing right now do you think that the situation we're coming out of
kind of has everyone everyone on hold or has stifled creativity or has created a different kind of sound
any of your favorite artists putting out music that they made during the pandemic at all
I would imagine a lot of what we're hearing right now is made during that period.
That's a good question.
I think it's going to run the gamut from songs about that situation.
We have a single that now called Out the Cage, which was written in that time.
But it's about breaking out, but it's not just about that.
I think it's going to run the gamut of everything.
A lot of escape, a lot of sadness, a lot of joy, a lot of hope, a lot of fear.
I mean, there's a lot of trauma in a lot of people right now, really undercurrent and just a desire for things to get back.
If I'm remembering correctly from listening to your record, Out of the Cage is a, that's a pretty fast.
Yeah.
Like that song's got a lot of energy to it, right?
Yeah, I took a sort of big inspiration from a lot of the 90s English house beat stuff, you know, Fat Boy Slam, Prodigy.
And I'm like, if I could take that rhythm and put it into my world, what would it sound like?
That's how we wrote that song.
That's interesting too
that you can find inspiration
in older stuff as well.
Like right there, I mean,
you're talking about two artists
that I listened to 15 years ago.
Yeah.
Fat Boy Slam and Prodigy.
Yeah.
I mean, is that...
There's an energy in those records,
and you would agree with it,
I'm sure, there's an energy
in those records that is just,
oh my God, it's exhilarating.
It makes you want to either run,
fight, break something,
or, I don't know something.
We're going to, you know,
we're running naked through the quadrant,
for sure.
Interesting.
Have you ever done that?
Well, moving on.
No, I haven't done that.
But that song makes you want to do that, maybe, a little bit.
We'll see.
Keith Urban is here.
How about we wrap it?
What's your marriage advice, Bobby?
I have none.
I don't know.
What's your engaged advice then?
What have you learned through your engagement, Bobby Bones?
I have literally learned that it is not all about me anymore.
Because, yeah, right?
And it's taken me this long to learn it.
And sometimes she's had to crowbar me into a situation.
She's had to, you know.
Give me one example of a situation.
Well, it's just not all my, I can't be selfish all the time about my life all the time.
And my, and, you know, even some stuff that I used to come on to be extremely public about.
Now my life is our life.
Right.
And I have to think about her too before I just, and, and revealing certain things.
Yeah.
So on that aspect, but also making time to cultivate a relationship.
because I will just work.
I will wake up in the morning.
I'll flip open my laptop
and I will spend all day working
and then I will go to sleep.
My final movement is my laptop down.
But there are now important things
that I have to invest myself in
for the future,
not financially but relationship-wise.
And so that has been the biggest thing
is this can't be as selfish anymore.
Not about giving,
but about as a person to another person.
Yes.
And I've been inspired by your story.
When she has her ultrasound,
I'm going to go to another country on purpose,
fly over to see her and then leave
just so I can be like,
This is what Keith Urban Tommy.
I wouldn't know.
You wouldn't do that?
I don't know about that, but yeah, you're right.
I mean, that's it, isn't it?
It's like putting to us first is the breakthrough.
One of the songs that we listen to a lot, and I've told you this privately,
that God Whispered Your Name is that that song reminds me of her.
And when we hear it, I'm like this.
And it's kind of one of our songs, like one of our, you know, top three or four songs
that remind us of being together.
And so as you leave, would you mind playing a little bit of God Whisper's your name?
Sure.
I was so cold and lost.
Nothing seemed to rain true.
I couldn't bear the cross.
Everything I'd been through each day, I knew I needed change, but there was no way, no way.
Then God whispered your name, and that's when everything everything changed.
Love came out of the rain
Talk about being safe
More than I ever did
I'm never going to be the same
When Kate whispered Bobby's name
Oh yeah
I like that
Ding
Where is that on the fret where it's like
When
The
Oh nice
One day I want to do that
Yes
Yeah, that's cool.
I'm left-handed.
It's not that hard.
What, really?
Here's, and I will rest.
I will wrap on this story once.
And you may not remember this.
I was doing some work for a CMA Fest and we were underneath.
You and I were shooting some stuff and I had my guitar and I was doing some dopey stuff with people.
And you were like, let me see your guitar.
I played left-handed.
And you were like, I don't think I've ever played left-handed.
And then you got, and it took you like, I don't know, 10 seconds of you to talk to your fingers and your brain.
And you kind of reversed everything.
And then you instantly were 10 times the left-handed guitar player that I've ever
tried to be. I don't know about that. What I do know though is that when I was
about 15 I fell off my bike and broke my left arm and my
and my duo that I was in was competing in the talent quest and we'd made it
through to the semifinals and the semifinals were like on the weekend coming up and I
just broke my arm so it's in a cast I couldn't bend my fingers under the strings
I was so frustrated but I realized I could put my hand over the top of the guitar so I
figured I'll just play the chords like this.
And we'll have to learn the whole song like that.
We made it through the semis, I think, had a sheer pity.
Did you lose because you couldn't play normal, wonderful guitar, do you think?
Do you what?
Did you lose?
You said you made it to the semifinals.
Did you lose because you didn't have your entire guitar hand?
No, I just think we weren't very good.
You weren't very good.
Yeah, sadly.
All right.
And you know who won, though?
You two.
You too won.
It was great.
Yeah, but your duo?
Like, do you know where that person is now?
No
All right
That's a whole other story
And that's a good
And we'll end on that
All right
I got one song I wanted to play for you though
It's really important
Okay love it
But I feel it kind of fits you as well
You know
Busted flat in Batten Rouge
Waiting for a train
Feeling air as faded as my jeans
Baby bones
Thumbed the diesel down
Just before it rained
Took us all away
New Orleans.
I pulled my harpoon out of my dirty red bandana
and was blowing salt while Bobby Bones sang the blue.
With them, when she'll wrapers, slap in time,
and Bobby's half kind of stone grin slash smile,
we sang every song that driver knew.
And the audience sang,
Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose.
Nothing ain't worth nothing, but it's free.
Oh, but feeling good was easy, Lord, when he sang the blues,
Feeling good was good enough for me.
This is where he now checks himself.
Good enough for me and Bobby Bones, McGee.
Wild, I mean, you play that song, and it's Janice Shoplin.
Wild that she never got to experience the success, the fame of that song
that she became, because she died before.
All of that.
All of her success came after that.
Just tragic.
Had you learned to play that song at home?
Is that something you play, like normally?
I played it in my cover band back in the day many times.
Such a good song.
It's a great song.
Keith Urban is here.
We love you.
Thank you for coming in.
We're going to play.
Thank you, Bobby Bones, McGee.
It's the best bits of the week with Morgan number two.
We found out this week on this show that Amy might be getting scammed with a cat situation.
So that's a whole story in itself.
But Abby, have you ever been scammed before?
I actually have.
And it's been like tickets online when you're trying to buy tickets for concerts.
Yeah.
I feel like that's a big thing.
Yeah.
Yes.
Uh-huh.
Okay, so what happened?
So I think it was Craigslist, I think.
And I'm usually very, I try to make sure, because I know if it doesn't sound legit.
If something's sketchy, I'm like, okay.
Well, like, if it sounds to be true,
normally is for the most part.
90% of the time.
Right.
And I usually don't like to go to Craigslist.
I think I was kind of desperate.
I don't even remember what concert it was,
but I was desperate to get these tickets.
And they were like a pretty good price.
So we had it all set up.
They wanted PayPal, which is of course sketchy.
But they sent me a picture of it.
And I was like, oh, okay, this looks legit.
Like it looks good.
And then I zoomed in and they just like changed the seat numbers.
So they had had an original one.
And then you could see the edit.
editing. Like, it was in a different font. And I was like, okay, this is not real. They're just
passing different, you know, making new ones. So did you end up paying for them? I luckily
no, because I called them out. I was like, nice editing. Like, you're a scammer and they
didn't respond. So I caught it, yeah. Oh my gosh. So this is kind of a PSA. Like, make sure you
really like look over tickets if you're buying them from like a fourth party. Right.
That's so sketchy. I know. Why do people do that too? Like, I really don't know. What makes you feel good
about that. Exactly. That's what I'm trying to think. Especially something that's like happiest
concerts and you just come in with your nonsense of being mean to people. I know. It's not cool.
And they probably don't even know who it. That's the thing. They probably don't even know who's
playing. They just want to make money, you know? Well, so this this wants me to know,
how much have you ever paid for concert tickets? Oh, man. For like a set of them. Not like all
across the board because gosh knows that's a lot. But like one set of tickets. How much is the most you think
be overpaid. Well, I went to a show in California and it was the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac.
It was very, yeah, it was. And actually wasn't that much. It was probably I would say 300. It was a two-day
deal. And it was like 300. Oh, you're making me feel a lot. Bad. Why? I'm scared. What? I spent so much
money on a pair of tickets. I know. I feel like I haven't spent as much as I've heard some people.
Oh, what did you spend? It's so bad for a pair of tickets. And this like makes me cringe, but like it was a
concert ever. I desperately wanted to see Bruno Mars for my birthday. Okay. And they sold out online
really quickly when I tried to buy them because sometimes you can get them and sometimes it's really
hard, right? Going to get them with Bruno Mars. So when I went to look to buy them, he's been like
$800 on their birthday. Oh my. Okay. Okay. And I was even contemplating almost spending like $1,000
on her ticket. Are you serious? I wanted to see Bruno Mars. So bad. I did and I bought him.
Not the $1,000 one, but I went up a few and I bought like $700.
worth a pair of chickens.
It was brutal and I really bit the bullet on it, but so worth it.
Yeah, I was going to say, but yes, I'm sure it was worth it.
Yes, because, like, I also don't know, like, when I may ever get the chance to see
him again if he, like, it was kind of one of those artists, which I bet is kind of the
case with Eagles and Fleetwood Mac because they could potentially do something.
You never know.
Artists come back and you just never know if they're really done.
But, like, Bruno kept talking about, like, not coming back.
and I was like, I have to see Bruno.
And he kept saying it was his last tour.
And I was like, I have to go to this concert.
But I, for days after that, like, was like, why did he spend that much money on tickets?
No, I support it because I, yeah, I saw his show too.
I don't know if it was the same one.
But it was, that's like one of my top five concerts, I would say.
He puts on a heck of a show.
Yeah.
He's a dance.
I mean, just like, I mean, I was like sitting there mesmerized.
I mean, I was soaking in my $400 ticket I was sitting in.
You're like, I will enjoy this.
I'm not going to.
to the bathroom. I'm not leaving. I've seen every minute out of this concert. I even have like chills. I'm
literally talking about that and it's really good concert. It's so good. Yeah. But that's the thing.
Like you don't want to miss. Like don't, it's not a good idea like to wait because you never know.
Like if some, your favorite comes to town, I recommend just go. Well, you're better off just to buy them if you
can and then sell them if for some reason something comes up. Right. I'm always one of those people as long
as like you can get money out of it, like buy it and you can kind of figure it out. Mm-hmm.
But, oh, it's so hard.
And people, I'm just really scared for ticket scammers again because I have a feeling it's
going to get worse this year with concerts coming back and everybody being excited.
And of course, it's going to be a huge moneymaker again.
I will only do that again if I actually am meeting them like with cash in person.
Yeah, because I just don't trust like the over the, which also, if you're buying stuff
from Craigslist in person, please make sure somebody is with you.
That's the thing.
Because you could get scammed in real life too.
Right.
Have you ever been scammed in real life?
I mean, that's real life, but you know what I mean, like in person.
No, luckily, uh-uh.
Like they haven't shown up or something.
That's what I'm scared of.
I've never been catfish.
Oh, well, actually, I haven't scamming on dating apps.
You've been catfish?
Yeah.
What?
Yeah.
Okay, tell me more.
Oh, gosh.
So, oh, well, it's a long, bad dating story.
Actually, it was my first online date I had ever gone on in Nashville.
And I remember, I asked him what kind of date it was going to be on because I didn't know
how to dress like more cats.
Nashville, you know, and he was like, well, it's going to be a four-step date. I'm going to take,
we're going to meet somewhere like safe, where you're like well-lit, you know, and then I'm going
to take you to like this speakeasy type bar. Then we're going to go get ice cream. And then I'm
going to take you to the best view of Nashville. And I was like, is this how dating is.
This is awesome. And like, I can be used to this. Yeah. And so I remember we met in Printer's Alley,
you know, it's downtown Nashville. Which is a really cool spot off Broadway. Yeah. Yeah. And it's like
well lit, there's bars. It's really cool, like historic. And so I remember we met it opposite sides
of the alley, okay? It sounds like the beginning of a rom-com. Yes. It's like a movie. And I remember
it just like went into slow motion. And we're like walking towards each other. The hair's like, I mean,
my hair is like blowing in the wind. And I was like, he does not look like his picture. Like he doesn't
at all. Like not at all. No, no. And I, this was, I didn't know what to do. This is my first like online date.
Like, what do you do? And so I.
I just kind of went with it and it ended up.
It did not work out.
Did you start going all four steps?
We did not make it to step three because the others like took too long.
It was a disaster.
It was, it was not good.
How long was this date?
It was probably like three hours because we started at one.
You sat through a three hour date with somebody that catfish you?
Yes.
This is my first one?
I was young and naive.
I was like, what are you supposed to do?
Oh my God, I'm cringing even thinking about it.
What would you do?
I don't know.
I mean, oh my gosh.
Like maybe go through like the first part and then just be like, hey, like, I'm sorry.
Like this all sounded great, but like I got to go.
Yeah, I think about this every day.
Actually, I look back and I'm like, that was terrible.
I cringe.
Oh my gosh, it's so uncomfortable.
Yeah, because we went to that speakeasy, which is actually Patterson House.
Have you been here?
Oh, yes.
Yes.
Okay.
I will never go back.
You have bad memory.
Yeah.
Which, too, like, speakeas are hard on a first date.
They're really, it's a really cool idea.
but one, the setting is very dark
and two, the drinks are very strong.
Yeah.
Like, the speakeasy style is like a different kind of drink
than just like a normal bar.
They're adding different things.
Every time I leave a speakeasy,
I am not well after like one drink.
So I don't feel like we should be going on dates,
at least like maybe the first two,
to a speakeasy.
Exactly.
I feel like that's not a safe place.
Mm-mm.
For like someone you don't know.
Yes.
I learned a lot of.
things. Safe bet now. Definitely. No, but I'll tell you how it ended. Okay, yeah, how to end. So he ended up
getting us three drinks each. I have this speak easy. Okay. This is just getting worse as it goes on, Abby.
Okay. Yes. Everyone do not do this. Like, don't do this on a first day. Pro tip.
Luckily I ate, so like I wasn't out of control, but I would, that's just not smart to do on the first date is to drink that much.
Anyway, so after we left, his bill was like, eight.
$80 because they're expensive. Yeah, speakeasers are very expensive as well, which makes people feel guilty. And again, just bad scenario, right? Yeah. Okay. So I basically told him after that I'm not interested in a second date. I appreciate it. He's a great guy, but I just don't see it going anywhere. Wait, you went on the second date? No, I didn't. No, that's what I'm saying. I said, I don't want you again when he asked me. Okay. When he asked you later, like over text or something? Yeah. Yeah, yeah. He's like, oh, I can't wait for the next date. And I was just like, yeah, that's when I said that. And he texted me a few, like,
a few days later and he was like, you know what sucks?
I spent $80 on my own money on someone that doesn't have an imagination to go on a second date.
It was a whole thing.
What?
Yeah, there was a lot during the date.
The audacity.
Yeah, this could be its own podcast, the date.
So we won't.
We'll get into that another time.
Oh, my gosh.
But yeah, it was just a lot.
I don't understand where guys think that yelling at a girl after they reject them, or vice versa.
I've seen girls do it too.
is a good idea.
It's not going to change somebody's mind.
They're feeling the way that they're feeling.
And yes, it sucks to be rejected.
Absolutely.
But that doesn't give you the right to get mad at somebody
for how they feel.
I know.
And I was honest, that's the thing.
I didn't ghost or anything.
Like I was straight up.
You're like, hey, this is how I feel.
And yes, it sucks.
But again, why you don't take somebody to speak easy
on the first day?
And I did not want that many drinks.
I'm going to give everybody who approach it right now.
If you're dating, you don't even
get dinner. It's either coffee or it is one drink at a dive bar or like, you know, like a public
dive bar. It doesn't cost a lot. You don't have to feel guilty if nothing happens. And you get to
know what that person is like, enough if you want to go on a second date. Which, yes, in most
instances, I do believe you should always go on a second date. Not in this instance. Not how I feel.
As in most. But like, why, I love the idea of like a really romantic.
first date, but that's very like movie life.
That's not real life.
Right.
And if somebody takes me on like a very romantic date on the first one and I don't feel
connected to them in a way and then I feel bad and I'm like, okay, I have to go on a
second date because I feel bad.
That's not helping anybody.
I know.
It's not.
That's what I said.
Yeah.
I was like, you want to spend more money that you're going to get mad at me about.
Yeah.
Like he's really going to be mad after the second date.
Yeah.
So, you know, give people grace.
One, when they, like, I will always give people grace as long as, like, they're not ghosty.
When they ghost me, like, best are off.
Like, you deserve whatever's coming at you because you didn't have the reasoning to at least tell me this.
But as someone who's been in these situations, you and me both, sometimes it feels better to ghosts because you don't get somebody yelling at you for no reason, for how you feel.
I know.
Which, A, is a red flag in itself.
It is.
Like, you learned a red flag right there.
He did say I get this response all the time.
He was like, I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I want to change.
Did you ever mention to him that like he catfished you?
No, I, no, I didn't.
Because he did other things during the day that it was just too weird.
I was like, this is so strange.
Yeah.
It was way too close to me, by the way.
He was like, right by my face.
Yeah, he was just all in my face.
So basically just all the red flags.
Yeah.
That was the least of my worries at that point.
I just want to get home at this point.
Yeah. Oh my gosh.
That sounds bad.
Okay. Well, I feel like we're going to need more updates on your dating life when I bring you on again.
But this, I got to sit with this. Like, wow.
That was a lot. I don't even know how we done into that.
Yeah. Yeah. Tell me about you.
No. No. You win. You take the cake. This is how we end this.
Okay. So here's Amy getting scammed of a cat situation. But I hope you also enjoyed Abby talking about getting scammed.
Not only once with concert tickets, but also catfish, which is yes, a scam.
So here we go.
Oh my gosh.
Okay.
There we go.
Number three.
All right.
So the question is, is Amy getting scammed out of money?
Take us back to the beginning here.
So my daughter was gifted a cat for Christmas.
The thing is we had to get a very specific cat.
And so we found this person that makes this hypoallergenic.
It's a certified, like, legit thing.
It's not like a, you know, weird.
pet shop. Like, it's a certified breeder. So I thought I found online and they're in Louisiana.
And you had to send a deposit because the cat hadn't been born yet. And then once the cat was
born and then they weaned it off the mother, we would get it. Right. So in February,
it took a while to figure that out. But in February, we finally sent the deposit. I had to send
like a money order thingy. Oh, first up. Money order. That's how Craig's List scams start. Send a money
Yeah, I had to send money.
And then, so my sister's allergic to cats.
We're super excited about it.
My daughter wants this very specific thing.
We were waiting forever.
We finally got a note that the cat was born.
And we were so pumped.
But they were like, then you're going to need to send the rest of the money.
And we're like, well, can we see a picture of like the cats or the cat or what do you have?
Then we get a note that the cat that had been reserved for us died.
Oh, of course.
So now we have to wait for the next cat.
They have all your money, by the way.
Not all of it.
They just still have the deposit.
I hadn't sent the rest yet because I wanted like a picture or video or something.
Plus, I don't know.
I'm supposed to drive to Louisiana and get the cat or something.
They don't ship it.
So I am like trying to figure all of it out.
And of course, my daughter is so excited.
She thinks the cat's coming.
Now the cat's dead.
So I have to tell her, we're not getting the cat right now.
It died.
She's like, what?
I'm really the mom sat on the cat or something.
or laid on it and then it couldn't breathe.
That was the one cat that was reserved for us.
So now they say we can get on a list for another cat.
In two to three months, they don't know how long.
And so now in two to three months, what is that going to be?
Like, you know what?
Now we're looking at like August or September.
And you can't just go adopt a cat?
We could go adopt a cat.
But we have an adopted dog that has a lot of issues.
You have to have a special kind of cat because your dog is very sick.
I've rescued a cat before my dog is very sick.
just have anxiety and emotional issues
and then my sister is allergic.
So there's this specific kind of cat
that we're all about getting
and that it's like really calm
which we need a calm cat.
If I go and rescue a cat,
it could be bad for our dog.
So that is the situation we're in
and I'm pretty sure that we're getting scammed
and my deposit is lost.
But what are you going to do now?
I'm still waiting.
I've still requested a photo and a video
so I'll give you an update.
Of the dead cat? No.
Of like at least the litter of the cat,
like the mama cat, the dad cat,
Show me something.
Can you find them on Facebook, like this company?
Yeah.
I mean, they say they're a legit.
They have a website, everything.
But I don't know.
This could be part of their thing.
And they could be, you know, people all across all across the country last week's cat, quote unquote, died.
And then they've got all these deposits.
If this has happened to you or if you know anything about this, call our tip line.
877-Bobby.
Unsolved mystery.
I mean, it gets to the point.
I might say the person's name.
Oh, nice.
Because I, no, I don't want to bully.
But at this point, it's really bizarre that I have no...
Lunchbox is a bully.
Maybe lunchbox can call them.
I will.
Then we get sued.
It'll be a whole thing.
Oh.
Lunchbox will call them.
Yeah, give me their number.
And if you're out there and this is, you know about this scam or if it's real, call us.
We'd love to hear your input too, okay?
Yes.
And I have talked to a lot of friends that are into, I just want to give this disclaimer
to that I am for adopting and rescuing.
This was just a special circumstance.
And the way we're going about it is.
is well received in the adopted and rescuing community.
Okay.
Because these cats are already born and it's through a respectable breeder that also might be a scammer.
Which then are they a respectable breeder at all?
Oh, no, probably not.
No, there's no cats.
There's no cats.
There's no cats anywhere.
It's the best bits of the week with Morgan number two.
Coming in at number two this week, we brought back Blind Karaoke.
Eddie, Amy, Lunchbox, competed against each other, and we even had a showdown.
But since I have Abby on this weekend, I wanted her to sing a little blind karaoke.
She is our star singer on the show.
I mean, she's the one that wants to pursue being an artist.
So, Abby, are you ready for some blind karaoke?
I guess I am.
Okay, you told me Miranda Lambert, Shania Twain, and Kelsey Ballerini are your favorites that you like to sing.
I love them.
So let's start with some Shania Twain.
Okay.
Oh yeah, here we go.
Any man and mine better be proud of me,
even when I love me, still better love me.
I can be late for a date, that's fine,
but you better be on time.
Any man and mine's gonna disagree
when I say another woman's looking better than me.
That's the wrong word.
Like I can do it, burn it.
Black.
Ooh, I like, oh.
You got it.
And if I change my mind,
A million time.
I'm going to hear him say, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I like it then away.
That was Shania Twain.
Bravo.
I mean, I'm your one-man band over here clapping for you.
Thank you.
I was walking you down.
Okay.
I thought it was great.
How do you feel?
Well, I messed up the words.
I had the wrong verse at the beginning.
But you did really good there.
Like, you had that, those main parts of it.
It's harder than you think.
Oh, thank you.
I know.
It's harder when you don't have no words in front of you whatsoever.
We're going to follow that up with some Miranda Lambert.
Ray?
Hit it.
Nothing on is a wide rock but a little old man.
I got two miles till.
He makes Bell.
And if I'm right, we're headed straight for him.
I'm going home below my shotgun.
He wants to file well now he's gone one.
and he ain't seen me crazy
Yeah
Stop my face
And he shook me like a rag on all that's it
I want to show him what little girls are made of
Like my go-to of
You totally nailed that one
I mean which one did you feel better about
This one for sure
That's your go-to karaoke song
And I chose it
I chose these songs
I know
And that was your go-to one
Yeah
Thank you good job
Oh I love it
Okay we would have done a Kelsey ballerini one
Which one would you have chose?
I like singing Peter Pan
But it's kind of slower
And that's a high one too
Yeah. Okay, so you're still pursuing being an artist, right?
That's kind of was put on the back burner right now.
While you're working for the show, you're kind of...
Yeah. I mean, I would love to be in a group. I think that'd be so fun. I love harmonizing.
Like a Lady A group would be so fun.
So some other guys or like runaway June style with other females?
Either one. But probably more with the guys. But that's kind of...
Yeah, what I'm thinking.
I mean, we have you on the show and we have Eddie who's really good.
Bobby who has his own band.
So I mean, I feel like there's something that could happen with that.
I don't know.
Maybe they will.
Maybe a collab.
Yeah, maybe.
You never know.
I like it.
But I loved your singing.
You did well from the judge table, which is literally just me.
You get 10 out of 10.
It was beautiful.
Thank you.
I'm so proud of you.
Thanks.
Thanks for singing for us.
All right.
Well, y'all can hear the blind karaoke segment get a lot of laughs in.
Abby just brought your weekend to full party mode because now I want to
I'm gonna go hit up a karaoke bar.
Number two.
That karaoke company
Singing Machine
just to release a list
of the most popular karaoke songs
and songs everybody should know
so we've got seven songs in a hat here.
We'll have three performers, Amy,
Lunchbox, and Eddie.
All right.
Whoa.
We will see who pull through
as the champion blind karaoke singer.
Wow.
Ray, me, you, and Morgan
will be the judges, all right?
Okay.
All right, up first,
Lunchbox of the seven songs.
Do you want to know what they are?
Let me just pull one.
I'd like to know what they are,
I can kind of have an idea of what I'm getting into,
but if you want to just pull it, pull it.
I don't care.
I knock every song out of the park.
Okay.
He will be singing blind karaoke,
meaning no words.
He just has to go with what he fills in his heart.
Old Town Road, Lil Nas X.
Gosh.
I've heard that one before.
He's going to walk over.
We have a performance mic in the studio.
He's putting the headphones on.
So we have the karaoke version,
and you will sing it.
You'll have one minute of performing.
And if you don't know the words,
which you probably won't.
You just keep going.
Don't even know how it starts.
Now, check this.
out. We're going to put reverb on your voices like we do our
artists in here. Oh, nice. So just talk normal lunchbox.
Hello, hello. How are you doing today?
This is lunchbox here. Whoa.
Yeah. You just got good.
Do I sound like Tim McGraw?
You don't know. Okay. Are we ready?
Raymondo, from when he starts singing,
he'll have 60 seconds.
I'm a cow. I got a cowboy.
I see trusting.
I'm a horse.
And I'm going down to that old town
road in the
backwood.
the good tucky
in the hole
breaking hard
Akey break it hot
hopty hopp
hoppity hop

Oh man
My nose is starting to run
Do you know how the song
goes at all?
No idea
You have no like
I'm gonna take my horse
To the old town road
No you didn't
I said he's on a horse
I'm gonna
I'm gonna
You never
You did a Miley Cyrus
Shout out
Let's go over to the judges
Guys, it's 1 through 10.
Ramundo, how do you think
Lunchbox did?
I give him a 4 for continuing to sings,
but he never nailed any of the lyrics.
He wasn't on beat.
The reverb made it able to listen to,
but a 4 is all I can do.
Morgan?
Yeah, I give him a 5,
mostly just because of the dance moves,
but besides that, there were no words
in some random pelvic thrust.
I said horse.
Yeah, I give you a 2.
Oh, my gosh.
We've heard the song,
if you would only went,
I'm gonna take my horse to the old town road
I'd been like okay at least he kind of knows
he didn't so total score
11 all right give it up for lunchbox blind karaoke 11
how was that audio
did it sound good I thought it sounded awesome okay just making sure
sounded awesome I mean reverb wise not him
up next is Eddie oh boy
Eddie are you ready man I would have nailed that last one
of course you would have oh yeah you have
Top karaoke songs

I miss the start
I miss the start
Can we start over?
Nope
Oh
On my feet
There's nothing in my brain

And that's what people say
I keep moving
Won't stop
can't stop moving
mine keeps on boozing
a dancing feet
everything's gonna be all right
and the haters gonna hate

Shake it off, shake it off.
Who, whew, whew, break is gonna break, break, break, break,

Woo
More lighting on my feet
That's what people eat
I can't even sleep
Time
Yeah
You have one minute
For when you start
I feel good about that
Okay
It's harder when you don't have words
Right
That's really good though
You did well
Morgan
What do you get Betty
The enthusiasm was there
But I felt like I was watching
like a rock star
want to be Taylor Swift
but I still give you a seven
because you nailed a lot of the words.
Ray, I can't wait for
Bobby Fest in September.
Eddie is a performer. I thought he did really
well staying on beat. That was entertaining.
I would pay to watch that.
That's what I'm talking about, Ray.
Your number?
Give him a seven, maybe.
Oh, that's what? I give you a six.
Six. Yeah, I thought maybe you would know a few more
words. Really? I didn't expect you to get them all right.
Fake or fake, fake, fake, bake, bake, bake, bake, bake.
I got it.
Eat a cake, cake, cake, yeah.
I give you a six.
A total score of 20 for Eddie.
All right.
Yeah.
Do you want to hear the rest of the songs, Amy, that's in your drawing?
Sure.
Bohemian Rhapsody.
Shallow.
Lady Gaga.
Yeah.
Okay.
Sweet Caroline, Neil Diamond.
I'll help I get that.
You do?
Well, I feel like, yeah, sweet.
Yeah.
Party in the USA, Miley Cyrus.
Oh, that one.
Oh, that's the jam.
I know.
That's the easy one.
All right, here we go.
Welcome to the land.
You're not going to get that one, Amy.
Your song is.
I know. I'm not. It's fine.
Bohini Rhapsody Queen.
Oh, this is tough.
Yeah, it's tough.
I think you're going to nail this one, Amy.
This is your jam.
Hey, don't cry.
You can do this.
Don't you wear a queen shirt.
No, she doesn't have a queen shirt.
She's got other bands that she doesn't know, but not queen.
All right, Amy, you have 60 seconds of blind karaoke.
There is, I help lunchbox with his intro.
I'll give you six seconds to tell your intro.
Mama.
a man the trigger on my head pulled the trigger now she's dead mama
died without you mom
oh man that's pretty good that's not bad it's pretty good um ray yeah Eddie was slightly better
so I got to give Amy a six it was a very very difficult song she did well but not as good as
Eddie six.
How is the reverb?
Morgan?
I mean, I feel like she nailed
it for not knowing like what she was
doing. She took the mic off, so
I mean, I was moved. I give her an eight.
Wow. Wow.
Okay.
I thought it was as good as Eddie. I give you a six.
Oh, thanks. Is that a tie?
Oh, she wins. Wait, she wins.
No way. Because Morgan gave her more than me.
But Eddie, Mike, what?
2020. It's a tie.
It is a tie.
Eddie. Your song quickly
Come on. Please give me me. Let me get up there. Sweet Caroline. Oh gosh. That's gonna be good. I don't know if I know this one. Here we go. Hit it Raimundo.
All right. This is for all the people in Boston. Let's talk to where to begin. I may not know this song
but I'm gonna hum it the best that I can. Yeah, thank you. Where can I start?
I love the world in my heart, but this song won't come to my brain.
Oh, but I see hands, touching hands, reaching out, touching me, touching you.
Be care of.
Life has never seemed so good.
Time.
It is such a performer.
Amy, you're up.
You have Miley Cyrus parted in the USA for the championship.
We're just going to pick who we think did the best for the championship.
Here we go for the championship.
And Amy, Miley Cyrus, parted in the USA.
Here we go.
With my dream and a card again.
Welcome to the land of Famex.
Am I going to fit in?
Everybody's here and I'm hopping into the cab.
I don't know where I'm going to go, but I'm sad.
I'm so famous.
Am I gonna get famous?
Welcome to the land of Fame excess.
Woo!
Am I gonna fit in?
And a Jay-Z song was on.
And a Jay-Z song was on.
I put my hands up.
Jay-Z song.
Oh, oh.
J-Z like, yeah.
Doing the dips like that.
All right, there's she is.
Yeah.
I don't know, guys.
Okay.
Close one.
There is.
I'm up ready.
Ray, you got to pick a winner there.
She mocks for ready.
Sorry, Eddie was good.
Ray, pick a winner.
Eddie was great.
Hands down.
He was my guy from the start to the finish.
Eddie killed it.
That's what I'm talking about Ray.
Morgan.
Maybe, but I have to go with Eddie.
And now go Eddie.
Say so good to all your fans out there, Eddie.
Hey, thank you so much.
You can catch me at the Applebee's.
I do karaoke every Wednesday.
Come on out.
Oh, nice.
All right.
There it is.
It's the best bits of the week with Morgan number two.
It was a really fun week to start our show
with Joe Nichols. I mean, so many people were raised on Joe Nichols music. I was. Like, I think I was
10 years old when I started hearing his first hits and I loved everything he put out. So when he came
on to the show this week, it was such a cool moment because not only did he perform some of those
really massive hits, but he talked about him and so many other things. And I just want y'all to know
that this might be like one of my favorite interviews. But all the nostalgia, you know,
2000s, 90s country, everybody loves all those things. And this is. And this is,
is exactly one of those interviews. So if you missed it, watch Joe Nichols on Bobby Bones.com,
his interview, his performance, everything, he was really great. But here it is right now,
Bobby interviewing Joe Nichols.
Number one on the Bobby Bones Show now.
Joe Nichols.
How are you, buddy? I'm good, man. How are you?
It's good to see you. You know, there's a lot of your music plays at my house right now all the time.
I think maybe a month or so ago, my fiance was singing one of your songs.
Maybe it was Broken Heartsville.
She knew every word to it.
And I was like, well, we need to record this.
And then she's like, oh, I know every Joe Nichols song.
And so even on Instagram last week, she was dancing with the Bulldog.
And it was to, maybe it was to Broken Heartsville on Instagram too.
So she's the biggest fan.
I was like, I've known Joe for 10 years at this point.
And so she was going to come up here today and meet you.
That didn't work out.
So she sends her best.
All right.
Well, thank you.
My best back.
And that was a really good week because I got more text from friends over that on Instagram post.
like, well, y'all don't pay attention to me unless Bobby Bones says, what's up?
It wasn't even me, it was her.
So Joe Nichols is here.
We're going to talk about the new song coming up in a second, which, by the way,
Home Run is the new track.
And I feel like you're kind of back.
I hadn't seen you in a while.
Like, is this like, hey, I'm kind of putting my foot back in the water.
Like, let's do it again.
Yeah, you know, that song like this kind of is good timing.
You know, it's a re-entry, like you said.
It's been a little while since I've been on radio.
And, man, if I could use.
use a home run right now. I mean, we can all use a hit, but it sure would be good timing. I don't
know. That seems like a good message, certainly with the world being crazy the last year and a half,
two years, getting back to some stuff that feels real good. Let me play a clip of this home run.
Ramon, do you got that over there?
It's time I hit a home run, point it toward that south sun. I'll be touching bases with
them faces off in places. I ain't been to and way and way too gone. Swinging for
The fences I've been on.
It's time I hit a home run.
You're going to get out and do some shows now?
Yeah, man.
Second half of the year is looking like it's opening up quite a bit.
You know, there's a lot of states that are opening.
So a lot of venues, thank goodness.
I'm seeing a lot of the smaller venues and the medium-sized venues
that are able to kind of get back up, a little training wheels with them.
So it's looking good, man.
Joe has so many hits.
Like, he goes out and he plays songs and you're like, dang.
I know every word of that song.
Hey, I even have hits that people didn't realize.
I've had people come up to me after the show and go,
why didn't you play the baby?
The baby or any other Blake's, or some beach.
I get that one all the time too.
So people think that are your hits.
Right.
You're like, I don't sing that.
Come to the next show, maybe I'll do it then.
But like when you look back at, for example,
Broken Heartsville, 2002, isn't that crazy?
It's almost been 20 years?
I know.
Man, I've had a lot of story in between 2002 and here.
and a lot of it I wouldn't like to get into.
But no, it's been a crazy fast, you know, 19 years, I guess.
It's been crazy, man.
I've been very fortunate.
I saw a tweet from somebody one time that said I have more comebacks than the McRibb.
That's Greg can't even be mad at that.
That's good.
I know you have a guitar up here and your player here.
How are you, by the way?
You're good.
Yeah, what's your name?
I'm Brian.
Hey, Brian.
Good to meet you.
Would you give us just a little bit like verse and chorus of Broken Heartsville?
Yeah, man.
That cowboy had to cover up his homes.
Sweet talking, pork-ed tongue had a tempting chawn.
Before I turned around, that girl was gone.
All I can say is bartender pulled me something strong.
Here's to the past, they can kiss my glass.
I hope she's happy with him.
Here's to the girl who wrecked my world.
that angel did me
I think the devil drives a cool divil
I watched him drive away over the hill
not against her will
I've got time to kill
down in broken heartsville
Nice love it, come on
Joe Nichols is here
Thank you
So back in 2003
I was just kind of looking at this time period for a minute
You were playing the grand all-opry
And a green braw
was tossed onto the stage
and supposedly it was the first time
that the underground
had ever been thrown
on the Opry stage
and so at what point
did you realize the bra was mine?
Do you remember that moment though?
I do remember that moment, yeah.
She got her bra back.
She was, I think, a college student
here somewhere in town at Vanderbilt, I think.
And I remember it being so cool
and then realizing, oh, no, I'm in trouble.
This is the Opry,
and I'm going to go for that behavior here.
But some of the old-timers
thought it was pretty neat too.
one of those records that you're like
well I did that
you know we got number ones and stuff like that
but hey
this guy got a brathone at him on the opera
you're a Grammy nominated artist too
I know as you joke about people confusing you with Blake
like sometimes people don't realize
you were nominated for the impossible right
yeah the impossible
I can name the ones I lost to
and I'm very proud I lost to
Johnny Cash Willie Nelson
the Dixie Chicks
and maybe Vince Gill
How did you lose all four of them?
Well, there were two separate years
that wasn't all it was, but it was Johnny Cash's
last album, and he won
album or the year.
And I think Baby Vince got
vocal of the year, male vocal of the year.
Next year, I think
Willie Nelson's had a duet song that he won
song with or male vocal performance,
and the Dixie Chicks won, I think, album in the year again.
Dang.
Yeah, man.
0 for 4.
0 for 4.
But do you feel like 4 for 4 in being Grammy
nominated because that's pretty
cool too. Like where do you sit on that? Positive?
Or you're like, dang, so close? Not to sound
cliche, but I was shocked that I was even there.
I was really shocked that they put my face on
camera when they were calling the nominees out.
I know it looked like an idiot up there
amongst, you know, Yoko Ono was sitting
over here, and Queen Latifah was sitting over here.
And I'm like, I don't think
y'all got the right guy. It was just
kind of my face, and they were like, and for
an album, they put the camera on
my face, and I'm just looking at the camera, like
this is uncomfortable. What do I
do if I win? I walk up on a stage,
I probably trip somewhere, you know, probably can't spit words out of my face to save my life.
I don't know.
Probably glad I didn't win, really.
Joe Nichols is here.
You're not glad you didn't win.
I'm not glad I didn't win.
No, I got a certificate, though.
You do get a certificate for being an nominated artist.
And I framed it.
Yeah, I wanted to too.
And had it melted into this gold-looking Grammy.
So it looks like I won a Grammy.
No, I got a certificate.
Before you recorded, yeah, was that, did someone go, hey, Joe, this is a huge hit?
Like, what was that process when you got this?
that song? When I got that song, I hadn't signed a deal yet. So I was still talking in some early
stages with a couple of labels, but I really needed that song to walk in an office with and say,
here's our, here's our beginning of the album. And Mike Owens, I used to work with at Universal South,
found this song. He said, man, this feels like a hit. He said, it's a little, it's kind of current.
And I was like, well, I kind of think we need to be current right now. You know, and he gave me this
song,
they're like, man,
if we can pull that off
where it feels big,
that's going to be played
on the radio a lot.
We give us a little bit of yeah?
Yeah, yeah, man.
Yeah, yeah, he will give us some yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
It was just another night at a hayfield
until she climbed down up with them four-wheel jet, yeah.
As soon as that sundress at the headlights,
every tailgate way out there was like, yeah, yeah.
She started walking over to me
like she already knew.
me to sat down right beside me and asked if I was here alone and I said yeah yeah like I was
not right along to a song on the radio yeah yeah how could I say no whatever you're
drinking that's when I'm drinking girl you're calling the shots tonight whatever
you're thinking that's when I'm thinking tell me what you got in mind so I'm
I can say, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Nice, Joe Nichols is here.
Thank you.
Hey, what's home, what's home like for you right now?
Are you on a farm?
You have a bunch of land.
No, I live on a golf course.
Oh, come on.
I never in my wildest dreams would ever believe I'd live on a golf course,
but it was the nicest place we could find, we could afford.
That's pretty good.
Yeah.
Did people ever hit a ball and go, that's where Joe Nichols looks.
Hit a ball.
I live far enough away that it would be really bad,
and I'd think somebody did it on purpose.
Yeah, every now and then, man, I get in the golf cart.
And I have my own golf cart now, which is cool.
It's kind of more important than my truck now.
But it does have red velvet seating, so.
But you just said no, no, and then went fancier.
He just went, no, no, no, it does have rims, and it's four by four.
But, I mean, it's nothing.
Joe, I'm going to run through some of your clips here.
I guess I got a bunch of, a bunch of your hits on a clip.
Let's do a clip of Broken Heartsville.
Just kind of.
Here's to the past.
They can kiss my glass.
Is this the most requested song when you play?
show?
I think
tequila is probably
good point too
but I think more people
talk about that song
10 year olds to
80 year olds say
my favorite song ever
is Broken Heartsville
so I think it's one of those
that kind of last
a little longer than most of my songs
Here's a clip of
Tequila makes her clothes fall off
Yeah tequila
makes her close fall off
Did this change everything for you?
Did
Like you had a big hit with Broken Heartsville
But did this song
Was it like
Boom, Joe Nichols is now here to stay with a massive song.
Yeah, and it was one of those comebacks.
You know, we were coming off of one of those albums
that didn't really have a lot of hit hits.
You know, had some radio success,
but the last single took like 50 weeks to kind of get really any airplay.
And I was like, man, we need a big, strong song,
and this came out and just pop, sold a lot of records,
and all of a sudden I'm playing at the Titans play football.
I don't know what it's called now.
Nissan Stadium.
Yeah.
Playing out there at the CMA Fest and the crowd.
knew it and it was a pretty good moment yeah that changed the game for me that was one of my
comebacks give me that girl 2009 jam this one had to be close to i mean i would say not at but
this is a big one everybody knows this song yeah believe it or not you know this is one of those
songs that people want me to play at weddings i'm like is that a wedding song yeah i mean it's not like a
slow dance song or anything and it's just me check me out playing my single uh
Yeah, it was a big song.
It was my first multi-week number one hit, and it was another comeback.
It was on a lull, you know, after a couple of hits, being gone from radio for a year or two,
come back with, give me that girl, and it kind of kicked it off again.
The Impossible was nominated for Best Country Song for a Grammy.
You're nodding at this one.
You like this one?
Yes.
Yeah.
Now I like everything.
This is that slow, this is the one people should have you play.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Not give me that girl.
Sunny and 75 from 2013.
Was this another comeback?
Yeah.
Yeah, this was after another couple of years being away from radio.
This was the album that I signed with Redbow on.
And where we had, yeah, and we walked in, like I said,
it had been a couple years being on up radio.
And we thought for a minute we were going to put yeah out first.
And the president of label Benny Brown,
who's always been amazing to me.
That guy is such a great, great guy.
out of me. He said, why don't you try this out first? I think we can have some success with this.
And of course, it sounds unlike a lot of my catalog, you know, so we tried it, put it out there,
and it popped. And it again changed the game again, you know, it kind of gave this a little bit
of a catalog more of a feel than just having a few hits. It kind of started having more of a,
you know, nine, ten songs that people would recognize.
Well, listen, Joe, I'm pumped that you're kind of back and, you know, you're here in the studio.
He's got a new song out.
We'll play some more over now.
This is Home Run.
It's time I hit a home run.
Born it toward that South Sun.
I'll be touching bases with them faces, all the places I ain't been to and with.
What's the worst anyone's ever mispronounced your name on a big stage?
I pulled up one of my first shows.
I did a radio show at a mall in Washington, D.C.
And it said, well, today only, Jose Nicolas.
I was like, I don't know what's happening.
Is this always happened like this?
My first radio tour thing, and it was humbling, too, because you played in the mall
as people were shopping, you know, kind of felt like, oh, we're the piano music in the lounge.
Let me play my new single.
Wait, before you go in there.
Stop and listen.
Awkward stuff.
Whenever tequila came out, you know, tequila makes your clothes.
Did people just throw their clothes at you when you're performing?
Like, was that common?
Yeah, used to.
I think probably now
it's been around a little while
but when the song was really hot
getting played a lot
I think people got
loose with their clothes
man I had one
that kind of ruined me
this lady threw some panties on stage one time
and they were so big
I felt I felt like there's nothing
there's no way you can respond to this
because you can't laugh like
somebody because he could hurt their feelings
but then I don't know
that kind of ruined me on that
so please keep your clothes on
because I never know how to take that
Well, listen, can you do a little bit of tequila?
Before we go, we can play.
Yeah, tune up over here.
By the way, shout out your player over here.
He's been fantastic.
This is Brian Spradlin.
He's been with me a long, long time.
We actually did a lot of that radio stuff together back in 2002 and three,
and actually goes back before that.
We played here in Nashville at Rippies on there Fifth and Broadway.
What was that like for you back in the day?
Did people come in and go, wow, you're so good.
You should get out off of Fifth and Broadway and be a real star,
and you're like, man, I'm trying, but it was just hard to get discovered.
Yeah, absolutely. That's exactly how it went.
We did good with tips, and there would be a lot of people that come in drunk and say,
come see me this week, and you get in their office, and they go, I don't remember seeing you.
I got some good experience out of those years.
I had some great times that I remember.
How did you get discovered?
Like, what was the moment?
I went in and played for Tony Brown, who was at MCA.
He's like, I want you to go over to my friend's office and play for him.
His name's Tim Dubois, and those guys formed a record label, and I was familiar with those guys.
guy's history and that was my first single.
And speaking of, the Impossible had climbed into like the top 30 or top 40.
He was on the radio doing really well.
And I was still playing on Broadway because that was the only place I could make money.
So you had a song that was on the radio and you were still playing at the bars?
630 to 930, still in the bar.
Were you doing covers like crazy?
Yeah.
Oh yeah.
That's all you can do with one hit.
Every 30 minutes he plays a hit again, though.
New crowds come in, new crowds out.
I'm the guy from the radio.
I'm not even playing a cover.
You have to tell them that.
This is my song.
You probably heard it.
seven times a day. All right, Joe Nichols is here. Tequila makes her clothes fall off. A little bit of
this and we'll call it a day. All right, man. Here we go. She said I'm going now with my girlfriend.
Augreed Rita's at the holiday in. Oh, have mercy. My only thought was tequila makes her clothes fall off.
I told her put an extra layer on. I know what happens when she drinks.
closet's missing half the pain she bawls and
yeah the key love makes her close
she'll start by kicking out of her she's losing air ringing her drink in her
drink a kid in a bathroom stall
pop of contact them panty holes ain't gonna last too long
if the DJ puts bon jovie on
she might come home in a tablecloth
Yeah, tequila makes her clothes fall on.
Oh, tequila makes her clothes fall on.
Oh, tequila makes her clothes fall on.
There he is.
Joe Nichols.
