It's the best bits of the week with Morgan number two. What is up, y'all? Welcome to a special edition of Best Bits. This one is dubbed Best Games of the Year. Dot, dot, dot, so far because I needed to bring this up. A listener suggested I do a Best Bits where I count down the best games from the year. And this one, this weekend,
Starting point is 00:02:31 I'm doing with Lunchbox. What up? What up? Did I make number one? Well, you're in number one. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know what game it is.
Starting point is 00:02:38 You're pretty much in all of these games. Yeah. Woo-woo. I knew that'd make you feel good. You have been at the number one spa on the best bits the last few weeks. Oh, that's cool. Yeah, always when I'm not on. Yeah, I know.
Starting point is 00:02:50 It's weird. It's weird how that happens. You're in this one, though. I know I am. I am in it to win it. Yeah, exactly. We have so many games that we've played throughout the year. Can you name a couple?
Starting point is 00:03:00 because I have no idea like what makes a good game. Like what makes it a good game? I figured I thought all games were good. Oh, they're all good. But I had to find really good ones from each version. So I found a game where you're naming a classic country artist, which is what we're kicking it off with. Oh. You remember that one?
Starting point is 00:03:16 Yeah, I remember that one. Pretty rough for you. No, I thought I did pretty good. Maybe like three out of ten. I can't remember exactly. But that's not bad. That's 30%. Yes.
Starting point is 00:03:24 And because we don't have bits this week, these are ones that have happened throughout the year. we're just going to talk about a bunch of random things, which you and I are pretty good at. I like random. Random is good. Like when you go by a script, I mean, oh, wait, what does the script say? I don't know. It's hard to do that. Except for when I'm acting, it's like, all right, line. I'm like, can I just not ad lib? I'm used to that. Come on, guys. I was going to say, what about acting? You got a whole role coming up. That's the hard part is, you know, you have to do lines and you have to have timing with other person. So that's why people think acting is easy. But let me tell you, as a Thespian, it's hard.
Starting point is 00:03:56 You do have your acting role coming up, but some of that will be. improvised we learned. That is what I heard. I liked it. I like that. Yeah, I think that's what you are really good at. So now I need to start taking improv classes. Yeah, but you're actually really good at improv. I feel like improv comes naturally to you. I agree with you on that. I've always, like I saw an improv group in college and I was like, man, I could do that. And I went up and got their information. Never called them. Never called them. No, never called them. Because, you know, when you're 19, you're like, oh yeah, I'm going to call them. And then the next thing happens, you know, and you have a case of beer. And you're like, I forgot. You need to go to one improv night
Starting point is 00:04:27 before you're acting. Yeah. Do they have improv here? I have no idea if they even have improv in the city. It's Nashville. You know how many creatives are in the city? Hey, it's Nashville. You got like,
Starting point is 00:04:36 this is Hollywood. It's not the same thing. It's New York City. Nashville is a hot spot for creatives. So yes, there is stuff here for you for sure. Okay. If you can find it,
Starting point is 00:04:46 let me know because I don't know anything about it. Okay, I will help you find it. We'll search the Google. I'm not very good at that Google thing. Like, I'll type in something and like nothing pops up. I'm like, I don't understand how I Google something. and it's not there.
Starting point is 00:04:58 Why did I know that was what you were about to say? No, it's crazy. Like, I can type in, because it's like, oh, just type in keywords, people say. So I type in a keyword, nothing. It's like, okay, this is so annoying. Yeah, we're going to have to work on that. It's not that hard. It's not that hard.
Starting point is 00:05:12 No, it's not that hard. But I mean, I just don't look up. But I guess I don't really look up that much stuff on the internet. You really don't use Google? I use Google for everything. Like, what do you Google? Oh, how many ounces are in this? Because I just don't want to think about it.
Starting point is 00:05:24 I don't want to sit there and do the math of things. or I'll be like, where is this in connection to this? How can I get to here? Is there a good spot to eat in town? That's how I find new places to eat. Yeah, I used to do that. I used to eat at good places and like, oh, let's go here to eat. And I just don't do that anymore because three kids, it's hard to go eat at good places.
Starting point is 00:05:45 So you go to the same old places and you same old. Like McDonald's? No, we don't go to McDonald's or, I mean, we go to restaurants where you sit down, but it's like ones that aren't going to take too long. Most of them you order at the counter and they bring it to you. You don't want like the waitress, that whole kind of experience. Right, because it takes a long time. But if we do go to those, what we do is we order the kids' food right away.
Starting point is 00:06:08 Like right when they come up to take a drink order, we order the kids' food. That way the food comes out and they can eat instead of sitting there and sitting there and sitting there and sitting there because that's when you lose them. That's when all H. all H.E. double hockey sticks breaks out. I don't know if we're allowed to say hell on this, but. Well, you just felt it and then you just said it. So either way.
Starting point is 00:06:29 So it's just like, okay, cool. Yeah. So parents out there, if you do go to sit down restaurants, that's the key. That's a trick of the trade is if you order the kids food, right when you do the drink order, they are happy because they got food. And then you can kind of relax and you can have appetizer or you can enjoy your meal instead of hurrying to get. All right, guys, the food's coming. calm down, calm down, calm down, because you know the wife doesn't know what she wants
Starting point is 00:06:55 and she changes her mind 52 times before the waitress comes back. Dad, you just brought in the wife for no reason. She getting roasted. She ain't even here. No, no, I'm just saying, like, that's usually how it is. Indecis. Oh, I'm going to get the chicken Caesar club wrap. Okay.
Starting point is 00:07:09 Two seconds later. Actually, I'm going to go with the hot spicy chicken sandwich. Okay, cool. Well, actually, I think I'm going to go with the burger with the jalapinos and pineapple. Okay, that's a good idea. Ooh, I don't know. The fajitas. look, I mean, it's amazing how that happens.
Starting point is 00:07:23 In a three-minute window, she decides on 26 different things. That's why I love a good tapas restaurant because there's multiple options. Then I can get tasters of all different things I like the tapas too. I like those. Like the small bites. That's my perfect restaurant because then I can just try everything. Except for I did go New Year's one year. I was in Las Vegas and my wife was working because she used to work for the cosmopolitan.
Starting point is 00:07:46 She used to do the marketing for them and their concerts. And so I was there. and so I went to eat with some of the people she knew. I didn't know these people. And we went to a tapas. What do you call it? Tapas. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:57 I think it's, listen, I can be pronouncing it wrong. Tapa's restaurant. And I mean, I paid way too much money. And let's say your boy was still freaking hungry. That's,
Starting point is 00:08:08 because it was a set menu. It was a set menu. And I was just like, oh yeah, those are bad. It came out. I was like, okay, where's the rest of it?
Starting point is 00:08:16 Because your boy likes to eat. And so it was New Year's Eve. And I was like, all right, cool. We paid, you know, too much money for what I got. I'll tell you that. And I was like, these tapas, they're not good.
Starting point is 00:08:28 They were good. They were really good. They were delicious. But I needed about 600 more of them. Yeah, my dad would agree with you on that. My favorite spot in town in Nashville is a place called Barcelona. I've been there. I took my dad and my mom and sister and I all love it. Oh, no, Barcelona. No, my mom. No, that's gasoline.
Starting point is 00:08:46 You just changed the words. It's fine. Dang it. But my dad was like, I, could not eat because there's not enough food. I'm still hungry after this, but we loved it. So I do think it leans towards more of a girl's night for a place to go out to eat. I do like them, but then I just end up ordering 62,000 of them. So my bill is like $5,000.
Starting point is 00:09:03 It's like, ooh. Defeats the purpose of the restaurant. Yeah, yeah. Maybe not a guy's thing. You guys have more that you can put down typically. And it's just like you go and you usually have a drink and a couple bites. You know what I mean? And I guess that could be a happy hour spot.
Starting point is 00:09:18 But if you're going to go eat, eat, it's tough. have dinner dinner there. Don't for me to have dinner okay well you eat like a little cow you graze on a little piece of grass you're like oh I'm all good. I don't eat like a cow I eat a lot of food actually but fair. But you know it's funny? I do I do think it's a lady's
Starting point is 00:09:34 I guess it's because cows are supposed to be eat a lot maybe is what because you oh you eat like a cow that's a pig. You messing of all your analogies over there. Listen we have Do cows graze on grass or do goats? I believe they all do. Okay.
Starting point is 00:09:48 Most farm animals graze on grass because they're on a farm. Okay. I was going to say, I don't know which one's better to say. Oh, you graze like a little cow or like a little goat. Is that your goat impression? That's a sheep. Oh, dang it. Hold on.
Starting point is 00:10:06 What's the goat say? You're trying to find, I mean, it sounds similar to the sheep, but it's more like, bah. See, that's the same thing I did. They sound a little bit like sheep, I think. Whatever. But also they're screaming goats and they're like, ah!
Starting point is 00:10:23 Have you not seen screaming goat videos or whatever? I have. I've seen one in my life. We haven't even gotten to the random questions, so we're just going to get started. Who is your top three favorite artists of any genre right now?
Starting point is 00:10:36 I know you don't listen to a lot of music. Yeah, Chris Daibleton. Hmm. Jeez. Bruno Mars. That's a good one. Eminem and Zach Brown band. Well, that was four, but I appreciate the four.
Starting point is 00:10:53 But that's all I got. I mean, that's really all I. You could ask me in five years, it would probably be the same people. You know, you like, you like what you like. And you stick with it. Yeah. Like Tina Turner is my favorite all the time. But I mean, right now she ain't putting out music.
Starting point is 00:11:08 So she can't be my like, who are you jamming to now? It's like, all right. What about you? This is fair. I mean, I've been. I already got a guess. Yeah, go for it. Charlie Puth.
Starting point is 00:11:18 No. Also, where did that come from? I don't know. I've heard that. He sings a song, right? He does. He's got a song out right now, I think, called Left Right. You know who you are. You're Ed Sheeran. I do love me some Ed Sheeran, but no. That's not my top three right now. Okay, got it. Sean Mendez.
Starting point is 00:11:34 Oh, I do love him too, but also not on there. Not on there. Don't know any more artists. Taylor Swift. You may not know any of these because they're pop for the most part. Oh, Dula Lifa. I do love Dula Lifa, but no. Doja Cat.
Starting point is 00:11:53 All right. I do love Doja Cat as well. See, I'm good at this. You're naming the other ones I like. Yes, but not the top three. The top three I got are Fletcher, Patrick Droney, and Silksonic, which is one half, Bruno Mars. I don't know any of those. You don't know Silk Sonic?
Starting point is 00:12:08 No, I know Silk Sonic. I know the one. Bruton Mars and Silkson. I know that one, but I don't know. Fletcher or Patrick Droney? Are they individuals or are they banned? Yeah, they're both individuals. Okay. Fletcher is pop music and Patrick Droney kind of leans pop, but he's kind of...
Starting point is 00:12:25 Where do you find these people? Just all my playlist. I just, they filter in and they'll suggest things and I'll start listening to them and then I'll vibe with them. All right. Well, never heard of them. Well, years are... Fletcher. Years have all been around a long time. There's mine that. Fletcher and Patrick Carney. Patrick Droney. Droney. Drony.
Starting point is 00:12:42 Okay. Yeah. You would like them. You'd actually like all three of these, I think. And your wife would. You could go home to your wife. wife and be like, hey, listen, I got some new music for you. And I'd try to pull it up and then I had to text you. Hey, what's that name again? Because I'm not going to remember. Fletcher, I think I can remember.
Starting point is 00:12:55 Patrick Barney. Droney. Droney. You know the funniest thing I think about our friendship lunch and our text messages to each other are probably my favorite because they're so random. You're asking me things or you texting me something that you remember at like 10 o'clock at 9. Hey, by the way, it's the funniest text message to read I probably have in my phone.
Starting point is 00:13:16 Yeah. And I'm glad that my wife is cool because like I text you like at 10.30 at night. I'm texting at 10.30 at night. But it's like I think it's something. I'm like, oh, I got to text it. You know what I mean? But I have a cool wife. Like people don't understand that.
Starting point is 00:13:30 Like Eddie. I'm also friends with your wife. So I don't know. But Eddie like he's like, I can't believe you talk to other girls. I'm like, I don't understand what you mean. Like it's cool. Like I have friends. Like.
Starting point is 00:13:40 Yeah, they're friends. You can't have friends? I don't know. Like my buddy Oscar. Okay. We used to talk. He's been married now 15 years. And I would tell him, oh, yeah, you know, I'm going out of the lunch with this girl.
Starting point is 00:13:54 He's like, who's that? And I'm like, oh, it's, you know, just some girl that I was friends with in high school. He's like, no, you cannot have friends that you. And I'm like, what do you mean? He's like, that's not allowed. Like, he had a roommate in college that was a girl. And he couldn't even invite her to the wedding. Interesting.
Starting point is 00:14:09 They never dated nothing, nothing. No connection whatsoever. But not allowed. He's like, dude, you can't have friends outside. And I'm like, you've lost your mind. I don't think that's true. I think that's bananas. As long as partners are respecting the other person's boundaries.
Starting point is 00:14:24 So he couldn't invite any females to the wedding. It only had to be his male friends. And I'm like, that's the weirdest thing ever. That is strange. You should be allowed to have friends regardless of their gender. Yeah. But again, I also recognize there are some boundaries you have to follow. It's like the middle ground, right?
Starting point is 00:14:41 You got to find that middle area. I mean, I had old chicks at my wedding. Yep, that is going past the middle area. No, but we're still friends. Like, it's like, we're friends. Like, it's cool. Like, no big deal. I know.
Starting point is 00:14:54 Your wife is very cool. Chill. She's the chillest. But I don't. Chillest, illest, realist. Snoop with what do you want to want to. Snoop DZE. Oh, yes.
Starting point is 00:15:05 D.O.G. So lunchbox doesn't keep wrapping. We're going to move forward. At number six, we have Bobby Feud. And the addition of this one is the first thing Americans do in the morning. you all played. I want to know what your morning routine is. My morning routine is, break it down for me. My alarm goes off and I think, dang it.
Starting point is 00:15:25 When can I take a nap today? And then I get out of bed and I go straight to the pee. I got to go pee first. Straight to the pee. Are you trying to say potty and then you don't want to say potty? Potty sounds like I'm talking to my kids. I know. So then I was going to change just something else with an ER on the end. Yep. And I was like, I may be to a little much. say up uh yeah i go straight to pee and so then i pee and some days i'll take a shower some days i just get dressed and you come to work and then i brush my teeth and i do my mouth wash and then i go downstairs and i eat breakfast you don't eat breakfast and brush your teeth no let me tell you it is
Starting point is 00:16:05 disgusting to eat breakfast with dirty teeth like it doesn't taste as good true like it's absolutely nasty and so i and i try to do all the stuff in the room and then get out so the wife can sleep. Got you. Makes sense. And I don't want to go back up there. So, yes, I don't understand people that eat and then brush their teeth because you have the nasty plaque on your teeth from the night before.
Starting point is 00:16:27 I'm going to tell you what, I hate the feel, like after you drink, no matter how many times you brush your teeth the next day, it feels slimy and gross. I don't understand why I wish some chemist or scientist or doctor could tell me because I don't know. But do you know that feeling I'm talking about after you drink? It does not matter if you brush your teeth 10 times. It feels like you have gunk on your teeth and it drives me nuts. Yeah, that is the worst.
Starting point is 00:16:52 Never thought about it until now. Thanks for putting that in my head. It's just true. It's just, I mean, it's 100% fat. It blows my mind and I don't know why that is, but it's gross. So yes, but sometimes I'll brush my teeth even after I eat breakfast, but I hate eating with not brushing my teeth. I think that's fair.
Starting point is 00:17:10 I think I'd agree with you. I do typically brush my teeth, but then after I'm done eating, I'll do like mouthwash or something. Oh. Just to keep it clean because then otherwise it defeats the purpose of me cleaning my mouth. Then I need another, I need a dentist to hit me up on this one. Oh, maybe a dentist just tell us why it tastes like that. Like it slanted.
Starting point is 00:17:27 You know my dentist is really cool. I'll ask him. Okay. Is, are we supposed to do the mouth wash, spit it out, and then just going on about our day. Are we supposed to rinse? Because I've heard from people that you're, if you rinse it, it's defeating the whole purpose. Like, after you brush your teeth, you're supposed to spit in the sink. And then that's it.
Starting point is 00:17:47 You're not supposed to rinse out your mouth because then the toothpaste is all off your teeth and it's not doing its job. So now I'm like, conflicted. I'm like, oh, have I been doing it wrong my whole life? Did you always rinse your mouth out after you did mouthwash? Yeah. I never have. Okay. See, that's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:18:03 But my mouthwash has, I don't know what that chemical is called that. They do at the acid. Acid. No, not acid. That they do it. The dentist sometimes that, no, that foams. And it's supposed to be really good for you and you're not fluoride. It has fluoride in it.
Starting point is 00:18:22 And so when you do fluoride, you're not supposed to rinse or put anything in your mouth for 30 minutes. See, that's what I'm saying. If that's true, I need to reevaluate how I do my teeth. I think that's true. I don't think you need to rinse after mouthwash. You want to hear a crazy stat about fluoride? When I was in college in San Antonio, Texas, it was on the ballot to get fluoride in the water. and before he was even on the ballot, my roommate Clay, I mean, he's a nerd.
Starting point is 00:18:45 I don't understand how he knew this. He used to tell John and I, who was our other roommate, he'd be like, did you know San Antonio is the only major metropolitan area that doesn't have fluoride in their water? And we're like, what, what are you talking about? And then like six months later, he was on the ballot to be voted in if they were going to put fluoride in their water. I mean, it still sticks. Well, did they put fluoride in the water?
Starting point is 00:19:03 I don't remember. I wonder if that's bad or good. They can't be good for the environment. I don't know, but I'm just telling you that he knew that. He knew that before they was even on the ballot. I mean, what kind of weird stuff? Who knows that crap? Apparently your roommate.
Starting point is 00:19:19 Yeah. Shout out, Clay Seeger. Shout out. Good roommate. Yeah, he's from College Station. But after you eat, you come to work then. Yeah, I get on my bike and I come to work. All right.
Starting point is 00:19:30 That's pretty good. And I get on my bike, you know, four days a week, three days a week, depending. Depending how you feel. Or it depends on weather. Like if it's going to rain, like if there's rain in the forecast, can't do it because I can't get caught out there. I'm a cyclist and I'm not. that dedicated.
Starting point is 00:19:42 That's fair. At least you know that about yourself. Yes. Like the heat, everybody's like, oh, it's hot. You're still riding. The heat doesn't bother me.
Starting point is 00:19:48 I don't care about the heat. Yeah, well, Ozzie, you're coming super early in the morning. Yeah. Well, when you leave,
Starting point is 00:19:54 it's hot. Yeah, that's true. I didn't think about the leaving part. Yeah, it's hot-y-toddy. Hot to trot. So you want to hear my morning routine how different this is? Hot,
Starting point is 00:20:04 what is it hot? What are you trying to say? Hotty-toddy-toddy is a drink. But it's also what Ole Miss says. I was just kind of giving shout out to the Ole Miss people. A little sports. Hot eye bling.
Starting point is 00:20:16 What are you trying to say? I don't know. I don't know. I thought it was a song. I was trying to throw it in there. Hotline bling. That song by Chingy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:25 What's it called? No, no, no, no. Hotline blink. That's it. Is that what you were trying to say? Yep. I don't think it was.
Starting point is 00:20:32 I thought it was hot eye bling. I think that's by Chinge. I don't know. We're going off the rails. What are you doing in the morning? Wake up in the morning? But see, here, just so, you guys know, I do go straight to the bathroom, but I do sleep naked. So that's when I say,
Starting point is 00:20:45 I got to get dressed. You just had to add that in. Well, I do. You really had to add that in. I wanted people to know. I could have, I could have gone my life without that last tidbit. You did so great. You sleep better. Okay. I'm telling you. Well, I wake up. I go straight to the bathroom. And then I start putting on my makeup. Question. I got to do my hair. Do you get up in the light to go to the bathroom ever? Um, no, not typically. Okay. Sometimes. Sometimes if I've drank the night before, I will. Okay. But if I'm just normal night, no.
Starting point is 00:21:17 Why is that becoming a thing for you? Well, I think, I don't know. Sometimes I do and then sometimes I don't. But then sometimes I wake up because my kid wakes me up and I pee just because I'm awake. I'm like, oh. Yeah. If something wakes you up, that makes more sense because your body's waking up. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:34 But then sometimes when I wake up and I have to pee, I will turn over in the fetal position and fight it, which is so stupid because. It would take 10 seconds to just get up and go pee, but instead I'm going to fight it for 30 minutes. But he's so comfy in the bed. I know. That's what I'm saying. I feel that.
Starting point is 00:21:48 And it's not like I have a hard time going back to sleep, so I should really just get up and go pee, but whatever. All right. I feel that. No, that's true. People can relate to that. You get up, you do your makeup. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:58 Do my makeup. Do my hair. You don't shower in the morning? I don't. I always shower a night. I'm a night shower person. Okay. And if I need to,
Starting point is 00:22:06 but I only wash my hair every three days. That's pretty gross. But I wash my body every. I don't understand why women, it's okay for women to wash their hair every three days, but a guy does it and they're disgusting. Because if we wash it that often, it dries it out. It makes it, it's harder on our hair. Yeah, I understand. And we have a lot longer hair to deal with than most. I understand. That would be why. You could do doja cat and shave it. I could. Did you know if she shaved her head? You didn't know that. I didn't know that. Yeah, you're welcome. See, I'm keeping you up in pop culture.
Starting point is 00:22:34 Thank you for that update. That was very relevant in my life. I think going to go to. downstairs, grab all my stuff, feed Remy, take her outside, and run out the door pretty much. You don't eat breakfast? No, I always bring it to work. It's either a smoothie or a protein bar. Girl, you need to get with your... If I get a smoothie, I have to do it the night before because otherwise I do not have time to do it in the morning.
Starting point is 00:22:57 You need to get your life together. Why? You need to eat breakfast. That is my breakfast. And then typically when I go home, I have a good lunch. Man, I miss lunch a lot. See? Like, I have a good lunch.
Starting point is 00:23:08 Because I, straight from work, I will go workout. And after working out, I have to have like a really solid lunch or I'm drained throughout the day. No, I agree with you. It's just sometimes I get stuck here at lunch. Then by the time I get home, it's 2.33. And it's like, well, heck, dinner is just right around the corner because when you have three kids, you eat dinner at 5 o'clock like grandma and grandpa. And so it's just tough. Like, it's a weird thing.
Starting point is 00:23:29 Yeah. So see, you eat breakfast. Oh, I've got to have breakfast. But I eat lunch and you sometimes don't eat lunch. Yeah. It's not good. It's not a good way to live life. No, but what is your now night routine?
Starting point is 00:23:40 Switching for morning. Oh, my night routine is I wake my wife up, my wife up off the couch. Say, hey, you ready to go to bed? You ready to go to bed? Oh, did I fall asleep? Yeah, you fell asleep. Okay. And I turn off the lights.
Starting point is 00:23:54 I go upstairs. I brush my teeth. I go pee. Get in bed. And night night. I mean, that's it. That's about it. You got to put the kids to bed?
Starting point is 00:24:04 Oh, well, that's way earlier. I mean, I put them to bed. Well, we try to get them in bed at eight. and we usually hit about 845. And then we have the old, Dadah, dad, da, dad, what? I need a hug. Okay.
Starting point is 00:24:22 Five minutes later. Dadda, dad, da, dad, what? I need a high five. Okay. Five minutes later. Dadda, dad, da. What? I need to go poo-poo.
Starting point is 00:24:35 Sounds like they have trained you very well. And I'm like, you don't have to go poo-poo. I'm going to sit you in the toilet in the dark. and you can call me when you're done. By the time I get out, you know, I'm like sitting down on the couch, Daddy, I'm done. I just went pee-pee, no poo-poo. I know, because you know you do it every night.
Starting point is 00:24:51 Like, I know you're not going poo-poo. They have you trained very well. Do you realize this? No, it's like some nights I just ignore them, but sometimes I'm just like, all right. But it's pretty cute with it. I want to hug. It's like, okay, all right.
Starting point is 00:25:05 But every night, is it cute? No, no. You want to know it's really annoying? It's 330 in the little. morning when they wake up and they just, Daddy! I need a hug. Well, at least you know that they want to give you love instead of, they're giving you love instead
Starting point is 00:25:21 of tantrums. No, no, that's what I'm saying. So it's like cute, but then it's at 3.30 in the morning, I'm like, that is dad life for you. It is. Get ready. It's coming for you. I mean, maybe.
Starting point is 00:25:34 I don't know. The more I talk to people about having kids. You won't have dad life, but no, it's great. Yeah. Whatever you say. It's great. You can't woke up at 3.30 in the morning. morning lunchbox I get asleep through the night no problem that's all right you'll give it up
Starting point is 00:25:47 trust me you'll change is crazy it's weird how it works it's like oh man I hate it oh it's so cool because just think 330 used to be getting home at 330 so you've already gotten a lot more sleep than you're used to yeah you just tried to spend that but it's not working it's not working so what do you what is your nighttime routine well typically I'll get finished with all my work that I got to do at home by like 730 or 8 okay and then I'll finally cook myself some dinner Got to cook a dinner. You got to eat before. Oh, my gosh.
Starting point is 00:26:16 Why? Just because I don't eat at mama, papa time, I eat at normal single woman time. No, you can't know. Nine o'clock is not, because what time do you go to bed? About 10. I eat at eight and I go to bed about 10. You're supposed to have three hours between dinner. No, it's two hours.
Starting point is 00:26:29 Oh, dang it. See? Got you. I just making stuff up. So I eat about, sometimes it's a little bit earlier. It just depends when I get down with the work. And I'll cook myself some dinner and I'll watch about an hour of TV that I wanted to watch, like actually pay attention to because I have background TV on all day.
Starting point is 00:26:42 Yeah. But what I actually want to watch? What are you watching? Well, Shee Hulk just came out. Oh my gosh. New Marvel show. Yeah, I knew. You and your Marvel.
Starting point is 00:26:50 I love them. You are. Yes, you are addicted. I am. It's a thing. I can't help it. But there's really not any TV shows out that I really want to watch besides that. So I've just been putting on random things in the background right now.
Starting point is 00:27:00 Okay. That's the only one. Are you watching anything? Big Brother. Always. No, no. Another reality show. No, no.
Starting point is 00:27:05 I've never, like I've watched this. I think it's my third season of Big Brother ever. And I watched the last couple. they're terrible. I was like, this show sucks. It's so bad. It's so boring. They do nothing. Nothing happens. This has actually been a good season where there's been some, I call them blindsides because I'm a survivor guy, but they call them back doors on Big Brother. And so it's been a lot better. It's been a lot better than seasons past where actually things have happened like where, oh, you think this person's going home, but ah, psychedelic. And they get them and I'm like, all right, now that's a good move. But it's been a lot more entertaining than years past. but they do. It's a super freaking corny, which annoys the crap out of me.
Starting point is 00:27:46 B, they waste too much time showing me the competitions. They'll take up an hour show and show me 40 minutes of the competition. Whereas Survivor, they edit it where the competition is like 12 to 13 minutes. That's it, total. And then the rest of the time you're seeing talk strategy. Barely ever do you get to see them talk strategy unless you watch the live feeds. And guess who's not watching the live feeds? This guy, because I have a lie.
Starting point is 00:28:12 But I do enjoy the show and I watch it and it's been very good this season. You got a lot of passionate things to say about this, but I'm glad you found it. I love TV. I like Survivor and I'm used to that. And so watching Big Brother, I'm like, man, nothing happens in this show, at least, especially the past few seasons with everybody's like, you got to watch Big Brother if you like Survivor. You'll love it. I go.
Starting point is 00:28:33 It's so good. And then I watch it. I'm like, you guys think that's good. It's just crap. That was a new accent that came out. No, I was talking like the person that told me to watch it. Terrible. It was a weird one.
Starting point is 00:28:45 I was trying to feel about it. That was weird. Well, that sounds like a good show, though, for you. Sounds like a great show for you. Don't think I will ever get into that one. I know. You won't watch Survivor and you won't watch Survivor. No, I have watched Survivor.
Starting point is 00:28:56 I used to watch Survivor. I don't watch it now. Why? Why would you not go back? It is so good. I just don't have a desire to. Reality shows I really don't watch. I only ever watched Bravo sometimes when I had cable just as like a background.
Starting point is 00:29:09 I never genuinely watch shows like that. Well, that's too bad. I mean, it's not She-Hulk. It's not She-Hulk. Though I will, Selling Sunset is a guilty pleasure for me on Netflix. That's a reality show.
Starting point is 00:29:19 Oh, did you see what happened there? Well, like there's some new drama? No, the one of the wives got arrested for domestic violence. I did not know that. No. I think it was selling sunset. You might want to Google. I'll have to look after this because that's not good.
Starting point is 00:29:31 Let me Google and make sure. You Google. Because I'm pretty sure that her and her husband were seen out in public. Let me see. Selling Sunset arrest. Yeah. No, I don't see anything. What?
Starting point is 00:29:46 You didn't see it domestic? Shaws of sunset had one in July. Oh. I don't see anything. I do not. I don't see anything. You spread in a rumor. Nah, man.
Starting point is 00:30:00 There's a few sunset shows, though, so it could be one of the other ones. Maybe I got it wrong. I don't know. That's okay. We'll forgive you. But yeah, that's wrapping up my night routine. I also take room for a walk and then we go to bed. Oh yeah, I take Waldo for a walk.
Starting point is 00:30:14 I've been doing a lot better. Once I put the kids to bed, I'll take Waldo for a walk because it's been so hot. I haven't been to do it during the day. Yeah, because we can't do the morning walks. I'll see people walking their dogs all the time right before I'm leaving for work. I'm like, y'all are up so early. And then I realize, I mean, by like 7 a.m., it's hot now. So you get it.
Starting point is 00:30:38 Because it's so hot and I can't take it during the day. And then I feel bad. And then I'm like, oh, poor Wallo, you've been sitting here all day. So then I've been taking them. Same. But I got to like douse myself and bugs for it. No, not me. It's awful.
Starting point is 00:30:50 Oh, bugs don't. I think mosquitoes like a certain blood type. No, they do. They do. Is that proven? I talk to a scientist about this. And also it depends on like what kind of lotions you wear. I don't wear a lot of lotion.
Starting point is 00:31:04 Or perfume or whatever. That I do wear something. That's what I'm saying. There's different things that they're attracted to. Whereas me, Don't touch. Because you don't have anything on? No, they just don't like, they don't, they don't never bitten me in my life.
Starting point is 00:31:17 Dang, well, mosquitoes don't like you. They love me. They like my wife. Yeah. Because I'm too legit. Too legit to quit. Hey, hey. Exema is unpredictable.
Starting point is 00:31:28 But you can flare less with ebbglis. A once monthly treatment for moderate to disappear eczema. After an initial four-month or longer dosing phase, about four and seven people taking ebblis, achieved itch relief and clear or almost clear skin at 16 weeks. Starting point is 00:33:23 Complete disclosures available at public.com slash disclosures. Hey, everyone. It's Cal Penn. I'm the host of Earsay, the Audible and I Heart Audio Book Club. This week on the podcast, I am sitting down with Ray Porter, the narrator of Andy Weir's audiobook project. Hail Mary, massive sci-fi adventure about survival and science. And what happens when you wake up alone very far from Earth?
Starting point is 00:33:51 I really had to make a decision because I caught myself getting that frog in my throat and starting to get teary as I'm narrating some of these sections. And it's like, okay, yo, yeah, yo, is this indulgent? And I really thought about it. I was like, no, at this point, it would kind of be betraying the trust the author and the listener have in telling this story if I don't go through it. But there's places in this book that deeply emotionally affected me. And I left it on the mic. That's great. Because it served the story.
Starting point is 00:34:20 People will say like, oh, my God, I cried at the end. It's like, yeah, dude, me too. Listen to Eursay, the Audible and IHeart Audio Book Club on the IHart Radio app or wherever you get your podcasts. Now, I told you that you were on so many of these lunchbox coming out number five. You and Eddie had to do the know-your-numbers quiz where y'all were quizzed on all your math. math and different numbers. Yes. That's on here for the best games of the year so far.
Starting point is 00:34:47 I remember that one. I want to know what subjects were you bad at in school. Oh, a lot of them. Absolutely a lot. Science, terrible. I got my first C in fifth grade science, Miss Beards class. Reed Elementary, shout out.
Starting point is 00:35:04 Yeah, it was terrible. I failed geometry second semester. Ms. Mulder, Anderson High School. Shout out. I love that you remember all the teachers and the grades and everything, too. You don't remember that kind of stuff? No, I really don't. You really don't remember your teachers.
Starting point is 00:35:19 I remember some of my teachers, not all of them, but I remember some of them. That's wild. Like I can go, I mean, we can go, where do you want to go? You want to go to kindergarten, Miss Curry? Hill Elementary, shout out. You have a good, what is that called? When you have a good... Memory.
Starting point is 00:35:35 No, you have good recollection of things. Yeah. Yeah, I don't. First grade, Miss Anderson. shout out, Summit Elementary. Okay, we're not going to list all these teachers. Second grade. Ms. Butler, shout out.
Starting point is 00:35:46 We're not going to list all the teachers. Third grade. I need you to tell me what subjects you were bad at in school. Third grade. Mrs. Wright, shout out. I hear you. I get it. Ms. Kangis, fourth grade.
Starting point is 00:35:55 I hate you. It's not ending. She was terrible. Fifth grade, Ms. Willis. Okay. Mr. Everett and Miss Beard, you switch classes. Okay. Mr. Everett was math.
Starting point is 00:36:04 You want to go six grade? No, I don't. Okay. Can we stop there? Yeah. Can you tell me the other subjects you were bad at in school? science, social studies. That's about it.
Starting point is 00:36:18 I mean, I just wasn't good in school because I just didn't like doing homework. Were you good at taking tests? I did pretty good. Yeah, like algebra, I'd make A's on the test and get a C in the class because I never turned in homework. And so I was like, all right, cool. You got to do the homework. No, heck, no. But this all adds up for you, you know, graduating, pretty.
Starting point is 00:36:39 much college without your last credit to actually get your degree. Yeah, it's just like, but college was so much easier than high school. Because college, they didn't give you stupid worksheets to do that wasted your time. Oh, I have full on projects I had to do it. No, no, I understand that. But, you know, in high school, it's like, do this worksheet. So you do it. And then you finish it and they give you another worksheet.
Starting point is 00:37:00 So what's the incentive of finishing that first worksheet? So I just sit there and not finish the first worksheet until the very end of class. Cool. I only had to do one worksheet. So you're just coasting through school. Yeah, English. I didn't just go well in English. I don't think because I had to write paper.
Starting point is 00:37:14 I think you have now listed all four of the course. No, no, math. I did math good except for geometry. I couldn't see shapes. Couldn't see the cube. Couldn't see that. Proofs side angle side. All that crap.
Starting point is 00:37:25 Pythagrium theorem. Yeah. But I will tell you. I will tell you that I was having the proofs test and I believe 60% was going to be proofs and the other 40% was something else. I studied those proofs so hard. My mom stayed up so late with me that. I got 58 points on the proofs.
Starting point is 00:37:47 Dang. 58 out of 60. See, that's what happens when you study hard. Zero on the other part because I didn't have time to study it because I was too busy doing the proofs. That's why I failed Mrs. Mulder's class and I had to retake it. See, that's why I hated tests. It's also why when we do easy trivia and stuff,
Starting point is 00:38:01 I never retained any information because I would study so hard for tests and I would do good on them. Oh, you cramming and then you flush. But then I forget everything. It's like, cool, I'm never going to remember that again. Yeah. That's why I hated tests. I just wanted to keep learning about it instead of being tested on it constantly
Starting point is 00:38:17 because then I'd just cram on that and then learn the new thing that I had to learn. Yeah, cramming was good. I like cramming. That was good stuff. I was a good crammer. You know, I didn't have a really liked science and I enjoyed that side. Oh, science sucked. It was so much fun.
Starting point is 00:38:32 Sucked. Biology, chemistry. Ugh, get out of here. No, that was a fun subject. You got to do a lot of fun things, though. I do not appreciate when we had to dissect a frog. I did not like that day. You know, it was cool was physics.
Starting point is 00:38:47 Now, that was cool. Did you guys ever do? We did have like a physics type class. That was Mr. Harris, by the way. Physics. Still don't need to know their names. Just so you know. We did, it was either science or a physics class.
Starting point is 00:38:58 I'm not sure what it was called, but we did an egg drop. Did you guys ever do something like this? Where you could do however you wanted to protect the egg. And then he dropped it from so high And whoever's A survived, like ace the test. Oh my God. I remember that. I do remember that.
Starting point is 00:39:13 See? Okay. I do remember also building a popsicle bridge. Oh, I do remember popsicle sticks. Where you had to put a certain amount of weight of books on it. And you had put it on there. And if it could hold for 10 seconds or whatever, you got to, you know, but it's amazing that you would try to put all these popsicles. And there's one simple thing you can do to make the popsicles.
Starting point is 00:39:34 And I'm not going to tell all you kids at that. there. Well, now they just Google it. So that's true. We didn't even. We also had a fax class that I really loved. It was sewing and food and you learned a lot of different skills than what you'd normally learn. And that was one of my favorite classes. I took child in development. I think we all had to take childhood No, you didn't, you didn't have to take it. It was an elective. I don't know why I took it. Oh, it was not an elective at my school. You had to take that. But Mrs. Farmer was the teacher. And for extra credit, you could take one of those crying babies home. Right? And so you would wake up in the middle of the night and cry and you had to put the key in it and it was so annoying.
Starting point is 00:40:11 And a soccer practice, I'd have it on the sideline. It would start crying. I'd have to go over there and turn the key in it. So one day I was in the library before school, probably copying someone else's homework. And Jimmy Hall, my brother's friend, two years older than me, comes up and takes the baby and punts it across the library. And the librarian wrote a note to Mrs. Farmer. And so I got, I got, I took this thing home for extra credit. I got negative credit because I let someone kick the baby across the library.
Starting point is 00:40:40 Oh my gosh. That's very bad. Yeah, you should not allow anyone to take your baby. I didn't allow. He took it and kicked it. Well, I mean, maybe you shouldn't have friends like that. It's my brother's friend. Shout out, Jimmy.
Starting point is 00:40:53 He's an air traffic controller now. Yeah, I wonder if they still do that in school now. They do. They do? Absolutely. But now they have like feeding and you have to change the diaper and everything. Different things. Yeah, we did have that.
Starting point is 00:41:02 Yeah, there's some good ones. But yeah, math is the only one that I. I really, really hated, though. Oh, math was great. Algebra was great. Like, Ms. Medoya, she was really great. That was my favorite teacher. Worst subject.
Starting point is 00:41:13 I sucked at it. I could not for the life of me understand math. Oh, yeah, Miss Medoya was great. She was a great teacher other than high school. Mr. Galbraith was my sixth grade. If we stay on this subject, you're just going to keep naming them. Math teacher. Okay.
Starting point is 00:41:25 You're going to keep naming them. So we're going to move forward. At number four this week is easy trivia. That's a fun game. Does it annoy you that I know all my teachers? It doesn't. me, but I don't need to know him. Like Ms. Trevillian?
Starting point is 00:41:38 And all the people listening don't need to know them. Like Ms. Jordan was my English teacher. Ms. Huntley was my... What are some things you like to do in your spare time? Well, I like to name my old teachers for one. Quit it. I'm joking. Four listeners are going to be like, I have no idea who these people are.
Starting point is 00:41:52 No, they know. Like, they listen and they're like, oh my God, I had Mr. Galbert too. Lunchbox, do the freaking question. What do I like to do in my spare time? I like to take a nap. I like to go for runs. I like to play soccer. And I mean, that's all my spare time.
Starting point is 00:42:08 I mean, do you count hanging out with my kids? Is that spare time? Yeah. What do you like to do with your kids? Like not just hanging out dad's stuff. What do you like to go and do with them? Oh, I love going to the park. I love going out and kicking the soccer ball or going to Nashville SC games,
Starting point is 00:42:22 which is the soccer team because they absolutely love it. Going to jumping gyms or whatever they're called. Their bounce houses or splash pads going to the swimming pool. I mean, anything. I mean, just they have so much fun doing everything. When you're a little kid, everything is exciting. So it's really cool just to go somewhere like, or we drive by a restaurant.
Starting point is 00:42:41 Dad, we've been to that restaurant. Ah! And it's just like the best thing that's ever happened to him. Now, there's three of them. Isn't one of them going to be starting school soon? Well, he's just turned four. So he's got a year. Okay, so he's not going into kindergarten yet.
Starting point is 00:42:55 No, he's a little too young. Is he waiting that for the next year? Well, he's only four. You can't go to kindergarten at four. I know you went to kindergarten at four. At five. Five. Are you sure?
Starting point is 00:43:04 I promise. I'm for sure. I promise. I went to kindergarten at four. I promise you did not go to kindergarten at four. I promise. I promise. It was been a long time since I've been four years old. Because you, then you would have to take, you would have taken, because you graduated high school at 18.
Starting point is 00:43:15 Well, all I remember is I was old for my class. Okay. So that means you would have had to take kindergarten twice and first grade twice. If you would have been at four, you would have graduated high school at 16. Listen, I don't know. I mean, but me, I was more, I was advanced. I graduated high school at 17. Just so you know. I'm proud of me for being advanced. Get off me. You also didn't graduate college.
Starting point is 00:43:37 That's besides the point. But yeah, that's what I do in my spare time. I mean, I don't, that's it. I mean, I would love to say, oh, I love to travel. I love to, but I don't travel, so. I know. I wish that could be one of my hobbies. I do it whenever I can.
Starting point is 00:43:52 I'd love to travel, but I mean, I just don't have time. I do. I got gymnastics. Yeah, that's crazy. And boxing. Those are two of my really big hobbies. Which one do you like more boxing or gymnastics? They're totally different.
Starting point is 00:44:05 I understand that, but that's why it's a good question. Boxing is one that I do more often. So probably boxing. But that doesn't mean you enjoy it more? I enjoy gymnastics. You do boxing to stay in shape, though. Yeah. But it's still, it's a hobby because I like just punching a bag,
Starting point is 00:44:19 learning new combinations. Okay. But gymnastics really challenges my mind because so much of gymnastics is serious. Yes, you have to physically be capable of doing these things, but you get in your mind often. And so it's challenging my adult brain to not be fearful of things. When I was a kid, ding, ding, ding.
Starting point is 00:44:40 Your brain is not developed as a kid. That's why gymnasts are young girls because their brains are not developed enough to know the scary aspects. So they just do it. That's why they retire at 20, 21 years old because at that age, you're like, holy crap, that's real deal. And that's why gymnasts are short because it stunts their growth. You know, I don't know if that part's true. No, that's 100% true. Where are you getting your facts?
Starting point is 00:45:05 I know this. Okay, well, I don't know if that's true. Like, look at the little cheerleaders. They were all small because they freaking were doing gymnastics their whole life, and it stunted their growth. I don't know if that's true. Guys, I talked to a doctor about that. Okay, but maybe like by an inch or two,
Starting point is 00:45:19 not like an actual stunt growth situation because also you just, shorter girls do tend to have more gymnastic type bodies where it's easier to move through things. It's telling you when they're younger. I also know a lot of tall gymnastic people. Not really. Go look at the Olympics. They're all short.
Starting point is 00:45:36 I mean, yeah, Olympics. But I'm just saying on other teams, college teams and stuff, guys can do it. Guys are different because they're not doing the same kind of crap you guys are doing. Oh, no. They still do. Like, there's guys in my adult gymnastics class and they do all the same things.
Starting point is 00:45:49 But guys I see them are older because their bodies mature later. And so the muscles and stuff, they're older gymnastics-wise. Like girls, if you look at the gymnasts and the Olympics, guys are probably 24, 25, I would bet, because they're ripped. And you don't see that on a 13-year-old boy. You don't see a 13-year-old boy in the Olympics because he's not developed enough.
Starting point is 00:46:10 Yeah. I mean, I can't argue with your reasoning. I just don't know if any of it's actually. Oh, it's 100% fact. I mean, if I'm Google it. I'm not Googling this because I don't also trust Google all the time. You just said earlier, you Google everything. I do not trust.
Starting point is 00:46:25 But I find studies and stuff. I'd have to actually do research on this. I did. I taught the doctors. Doctors? Yeah. multiples? Maybe one.
Starting point is 00:46:33 Okay. See, a study is like multiple different research. I'm just saying I don't have the backing to say this is factual. You're right. But I hear you. I do think your reasoning makes sense. It absolutely does. But yeah, gymnastics is one.
Starting point is 00:46:45 When I do things, I am incredibly fearful. See, that's crazy. But it's things that I used to be able to do. Yeah. So my body remembers it, but my mind is sitting there being like, no, you should not do this. This is going to hurt. You're going to crack your neck. My body says, he's going to do all about the same.
Starting point is 00:47:00 Yes. But my mind says, what's that song? I know what you're singing, but I don't know. Like, oh, man, my body says, my mind. You're getting there. My mind says no. You're getting there. Google.
Starting point is 00:47:15 Google. My mind. My body's bad. My body's telling me yes. Oh, there you go. That's all I remember. I just remember the beat of it. We're Googling lots of things on this podcast today.
Starting point is 00:47:28 But yeah, that's my spare time. hiking with Remy. Remy and I do lots of hikes together. We like to go to waterfalls. That's a good time for us. Let's see. And then dinners with friends. Oh, that's not right.
Starting point is 00:47:39 Drinking sometimes. Yeah. You know, the good stuff. I'll let you Google that. But we're going to go forward. My mind is telling me no, but my body's saying yes. I don't know. It's okay.
Starting point is 00:47:50 It's all right. I think we all know what you're talking about. We are going to move. Oh, it's a bump and grind by a guy's name we don't want to say. Yeah. Yeah. Well, never mind. Don't sing that song anymore.
Starting point is 00:48:02 Yep. You had to do that to us. Damn. That got awkward. All right. We're going to move forward at number three. We drafted childhood snacks. Pretty solid draft.
Starting point is 00:48:13 It was a good time. Don't remember it. Yeah, I had some great selections. So that's why I know I had the best team. You don't even remember your team. No idea. Boom. No idea what I had.
Starting point is 00:48:23 No idea because I felt like that was a terrible draft. Oh, it was a good one. No. What is your current favorite snacks? Uh, beef jerky. I love graham crackers with peanut butter on it. Graham crackers and peanut butter, interesting. Yeah, heck yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:38 Is that a new one that you discovered? I think I ate that when I was a kid. Okay. What else do I eat? Peanut butter and apples is really good. I like peanut butter a lot. Peanut butter and apples is a low-key great snack. It's a jam, guys.
Starting point is 00:48:55 If you don't do it, you're missing out of life. Let me add a twist to that. You want to spice it up a little bit? add a pretzel with it. Yeah, pretzels good. I just don't have pretzels laying around. Apple. It's like the perfect sweet, salty, crunchy taste.
Starting point is 00:49:09 Probably not going to do that, but I like the idea. I like where your head's at. I just don't have pretzels and I don't buy pretzels, so I don't know. Well, if you just had to get a pretzel one day, look. You know what I had that Hillary used to work here? She used to eat these rice cakes. They're pretty freaking good. You never had rice cakes?
Starting point is 00:49:26 Never had rice cakes. I was like, damn, these are good. Yeah, rice cakes are good. And so, oh, do you have the caramel flavor? Yeah. Put peanut butter on it. Really? Yep.
Starting point is 00:49:35 Add some honey. Oh, I like honey. You got yourself a little sandwich. Yeah, all right. I'm on trying. Yeah. So I buy those rice cakes just because she had them here and I tasted them. I was like, dang, I'm in business my whole life.
Starting point is 00:49:45 I don't even get it. I'm about to blow your mind even more. Go. Add some marshmallows. No. Listen. I don't eat marshmallows. They're gross.
Starting point is 00:49:53 Do you like a smore? Yeah, every once in a while. But I just, I don't like marshmallows, the texture. Okay, we can do marshmallow fluff. I don't know what that means. It's like in a jar instead of the actual marshmallow. Add some marshmallow chocolate chips, throw it in the oven for like five minutes.
Starting point is 00:50:08 Got a smore. Oh. Healthy smore. I don't think anything with marshmallows is healthy. Okay. It's better than the average smore. I mean, add marshmallows.
Starting point is 00:50:18 Super healthy. Actually, marshmallows are not, they're just full of sugar. They're not high in calories. But sugar is the worst thing. Yeah, sugar is bad for. Well, yes, all of these things you're talking about have sugar in them. Not peanut butter?
Starting point is 00:50:30 Not apples and peanut butter. That's your solid, solid healthy snacks so far. Thank you. Yeah. Boom. Beef jerky, boom. Yeah. What was the other one though?
Starting point is 00:50:38 I don't know. I don't remember. I don't remember. What are your snacks? I eat these Crunchmaster crackers that are bomb. They're my favorite crackers of all time. Crunch master cracker. Because I have to be gluten-free, sugar-free now.
Starting point is 00:50:51 So they're my favorite. But you're going to eat the marshmallows. You just told me to eat marshmallows. No, it's just for other people to enjoy because I can't have it. And they're the best crackers in the world. And I eat those. And I get three different types of cheese from Trader Joe's. I'll get some white cheddar.
Starting point is 00:51:06 I'll get regular cheddar. And I'll typically get a Gouda. And I'll cut all those up and I'll have cheese and crackers with some red seedless grapes. I like grapes. Green grapes are better than red grapes. Do you eat grapes with cheese? No. That's a great snack.
Starting point is 00:51:22 Do you like cheese? Yeah. Yeah, grapes and cheese. Solid snack. Okay. Or cashews. I've been big. on cashews lately. Oh yeah, I like trail mix.
Starting point is 00:51:29 Trail mix. Oh, I love some trail mix. Mmm, some trail mix. Get up in my mouth. Now I'm making both of us hungry. Like peanuts, almonds, walnuts. All the, all the, you know, I learned of a peanut allergy as I've gotten older, so I can't have peanuts anymore, which is a bummer. I used to love the... What do you mean you have a peanut allergy? Oh, yeah, it was bad. I ate like a, I ate a decent amount of peanuts and let me tell you,
Starting point is 00:51:52 I thought my kidney was bursting. I thought I was having a full-blown organ failure. I can have it because it's all processed down. I can't eat the little peanuts. So if you're on a Southwest flight, you're going to die? Because of peanuts? No, not like that kind of. It's more my stomach. Like if I eat it, my body doesn't know how to digest it.
Starting point is 00:52:10 You're talking about a little sissy. Yeah. Got it. It's got a lot of issues. Oh, boy, boo, boo. I got an immune system situation happening, okay? Yeah, that's bad. I know.
Starting point is 00:52:19 That's up. Don't remind me. You brought it up. I was talking about favorite snacks. I know. Then you got mad of me for saying peanuts. Well, but honey roasted peanuts, though? Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:52:28 Oh, those are so good. Oh, I love them. Yeah, those are good. All right. Any others? You got any others on that list? No, that's all I got. I don't think I eat anything else.
Starting point is 00:52:38 Yeah, none of mine are excited anymore. I used to have a lot of exciting snacks, and now they're very healthy. I'm like, I don't really eat many. I mean, it's hard. I eat the same thing. I mean, I eat the same stuff every day. I'm pretty boring. I'm not creative.
Starting point is 00:52:50 I don't cook. I don't do all that crap. You get into a routine. Yes, that's how we do it. I get it. Well, A&A number two is a game of elder versus millennial. People love the battle of the generations. Once you identify more with an elder or a millennial now.
Starting point is 00:53:06 Oh, I have no idea. At this point in your life. Which would you identify? I don't know. Probably an elder. I don't know. I have no idea. I'm saying based how you feel, based on your body feels, based on what you know about life.
Starting point is 00:53:18 I feel like I still play soccer and I still talk trash to the young kids that try to talk trash to me like when they say him. How old is this? this guy, and I tell them, old not to be their dad. And because I really am, because they're like in their 20s and I'm in my 40s, so I could really be their dad. And one guy told me the other day, he was like, this was when I hadn't shaved or had a haircut and he looks and goes, where'd you get this guy from under a bridge?
Starting point is 00:53:43 Oh, burn. That's a roast. That was hilarious. I laughed. I was like, that's pretty good. You were looking rough there for a little bit. I was laughing. I was like, that was funny.
Starting point is 00:53:53 And then I told him, oh, yeah, I was under there with your mom. mom. Classic your mom joke. Yeah. Is that still cool? I don't think it is, but I'm going to let you slide with it because you feel pretty proud of it. But see, here's the funny part.
Starting point is 00:54:07 I didn't really tell them that. I just thought it in my head. Oh, you didn't tell them. Are you sure? You told them. No, I didn't. You said it. I didn't.
Starting point is 00:54:13 I didn't. I didn't. I thought it though. I thought it. I thought it. But yeah, I mean, I have no idea if I feel, I feel young. I feel good. Like I'm.
Starting point is 00:54:22 So maybe, maybe you're in the middle. Yeah. I'm in the middle. Like, I don't feel old. because I'm not just sitting on the couch going, uh, life is terrible. Oh,
Starting point is 00:54:31 one of my hobbies, play golf. I forgot about that. There you go. Do you love a good golf? So if you want to edit that back to then, or you can just leave it here. No,
Starting point is 00:54:37 you just leave it there. That's good. We just free balling out here at lunchbox. Well, I don't do that. Okay. What is the, what's the youngest thing about you?
Starting point is 00:54:45 My kids. There you go. Okay, you. I'm talking about you. Oh, probably how I look. When I shave and I get a haircut, I look like I'm 25.
Starting point is 00:54:55 No. doubt. Yeah. I mean, I mean, I was to ask the youngest thing about me that I still play soccer. I don't know. I mean, I don't know. I'm making you reflect on your life. Did I still watch the challenge? That's, I still watch MTV. Yeah, you still watch reality TV. That would probably be a pretty young. I dress so hip. So fly. Okay. If you do that with your hands, listen, I just watched Lungebox take both of his hands and like crisscross him across his chest when he said that. And you can't do that. anymore because that is like 20 years old.
Starting point is 00:55:28 Oh. So you can't say I'm so fly while talking about how old you are. I'm so fly. Okay. What's the oldest thing about you? Ooh. I fall asleep sitting up. That's the old thing.
Starting point is 00:55:40 Oh, yeah. That's a classic dad move. That's an old thing. I have, I've been collecting. Oh, man. Should I say this? My dad always listens to this. I've been,
Starting point is 00:55:51 no, no, no. I have a lot already. I've been collecting videos. my dad falling asleep in random places to compile them all for a dad, TikTok. No, no, you've got it. You can't tell your dad that. Oh, he'll still fall asleep. It's not going to change.
Starting point is 00:56:05 You can't help himself. Oh, my God. Listen, I have videos of him falling asleep at concerts. I haven't fallen to sleep at Disney World. Oh, that's great. That's great. I haven't been in so many places. My, my best, one of my favorite pictures of my parents ever is when we were having our
Starting point is 00:56:19 first kid, they are in the waiting room and they are both. Legs straight out, head back, and they're both. both just passed out and my sister-in-law took the picture. And I mean, it is, I mean, they are out cold. And I just like, that is great because they flew in so early in the morning. You know what I mean? Like, it would be a long day. And they were freaking out.
Starting point is 00:56:39 And I mean, that is me. Like, if I'm waiting in the lobby to go to the doctor, I can fall asleep. Like, I just put my head back. I'm like, oh, dang, I fall asleep. It's rough. But yeah, I'd say falling asleep sitting up is one that I definitely do now. So I get it. It's hard.
Starting point is 00:56:55 well it's okay we'll accept you for being what is your oldest thing um basically that my body breaks all the time oh i'm doing a lot of things so my body just keeps breaking on me it's not and the old thing is if i go to the bar now like if i i mean very rare do it but i do and i'm like i'm not supposed to be here like people like i like speaking of bars i walk into a bar if it's too loud i'm like it's a little loud in here i can't arch my friends i agree with you on that that's the oldest thing about me i've been there i've been there i've been there i've been there i went to a restaurant and there was one in Las Vegas and it was last year actually it was for my birthday we went to a sushi place Caesar's Palace and it was my 40th birthday and we went in and we're
Starting point is 00:57:37 like it was too loud it was too dark couldn't read the menu and be like hey can we move that other section where it's not as loud and where it's lighter and they moved us because it's too loud I was like dang and we were we all and we all were joking hey this is 40 what I couldn't hear you Can we move over there? I mean, it was so funny because it was really loud and it was just, there's dark. Like, why do they make it so freaking dark? I feel like they've made it louder and darker than it used to be when I was in my early 20s. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:04 And then there was another place that Cosmo, this is years ago, beauty in Essex. It's a restaurant in Vegas. It is so loud. We were around a table. What are you ordering? What? Did you order that? What?
Starting point is 00:58:17 Terrible. Terrible. Good food. Terrible because you couldn't even talk to each other because we had a big circular table because we had like 10 of us. Mm-hmm. Terrible. I mean, you couldn't even talk.
Starting point is 00:58:26 It was awful. Well, now I feel old and you made me feel even older. What's the youngest thing about you? Youngest thing about me is that I'm still just super active. Yeah, I think I'm doing a lot of stuff. No, I'm really active. Okay. I still go out.
Starting point is 00:58:41 I still have drinks with friends. I don't party like I used to. Whoa. You still have drinks with friends? So do I. Yeah. Wow. I'm still young.
Starting point is 00:58:49 I'm still hip. I'm so cool. I'm so fly. Exema isn't always obvious, but it's real. And so is the relief from Ebglis. I'm the host of Earsayers, the Aheart audiobook Club. This week on the podcast, I am sitting down with Ray Porter, the narrator of Andy Weir's audiobook Project Hail Mary, massive sci-fi adventure about survival and science.
Starting point is 01:01:14 And what happens when you wake up alone very far from Earth? I really had to make a decision because I caught myself getting that frog in my throat and starting to get teary as I'm narrating some of these sections. And it's like, okay, yo, yeah, yo, is this indulgent? And I really thought about it. I was like, no, at this point it would kind of be betraying the trust the author and the listener have in telling this story if I don't go through it. But there's places in this book that deeply emotionally affected me. and I left it on the mic. That's great.
Starting point is 01:01:45 Because it served the story. People will say like, oh my God, I cried at the end. It's like, yeah, dude, me too. Listen to Eursay, the Audible and IHeart Audio Book Club on the IHart Radio app or wherever you get your podcasts. Now that we're done roasting each other's ages, we're coming in at the number one spot, Blind Karaoke, the Disney version, which was a great time. Man, that's a rough one. That was a funny one. because I really felt like I know Frozen
Starting point is 01:02:14 Yeah you didn't though at all But I didn't no no But like right once the music starts I just lose it I have no idea That's okay that's how I feel trivia So you can have that with singing It's just I don't know how people memorize so many lyrics There's so many songs out there
Starting point is 01:02:29 And I just don't get it it's hard it's a hard life It's a hard knock life For me Oh for us It's a hard knock life For us It's a hard knock life For us.
Starting point is 01:02:41 Instead of cleaning, we get... Instead of what? Cleaning. Instead of cleaning. Instead of cleaning? That's what it says? I believe so. I was in Annie when I was younger in a play.
Starting point is 01:02:52 I was one of the orphans, so I had to sing that song. It's the only reason I remember it. Hard Knock Life is from Annie? This is a hard knock life. It's all the orphans singing. And they're cleaning the whole orphanage. Didn't know that. Dang.
Starting point is 01:03:07 Well, I just blew your mind. What is your favorite Disney? movie of all time. Gosh, I don't know. You guys all watch these Disney movies. I don't watch that many Disney movies. What did I watch that was really good? Remember the Titans.
Starting point is 01:03:24 Yeah, I was going to say, you could do any. That's probably, I mean that. Or McFarland USA is another great one. Oh, yeah, and that came out in like the last 10 years, I think. I have no idea. It's about a cross-country team. It is great. Kevin Costner, so freaking good.
Starting point is 01:03:40 I don't even know if remember the Titans is Disney, so we'll just go. It is. It's on Disney Plus. But guys, it is McFarland, USA. Do yourself a favor. Go watch it. And when I watched it, it was holidays. We were up my in-laws. And my wife and my mother-in-law were like, we're going to watch a movie about running.
Starting point is 01:03:56 This is so stupid. You kind of sound like the Monsters Ink lady. Never seen Monsters Ink. What? Maybe I have. No, I've seen Monster. I've seen Monster Inc. Space Edition, the one where they're in that.
Starting point is 01:04:12 No, you need the OG Monsters Inc. Because there's a lot of them, right? No, there's only two movies. Monsters Inc. and Monsters University are the two OG movies. What's the one? Ice Age. Ice Age, there's a lot.
Starting point is 01:04:23 Okay, that's the one I've seen. Because my son always says, I want the outer space one. You should watch Monsters Eke with your kids. Okay. And just telling you, you look like that there's a slug and you're going to recognize her voice and you're like, I did sound like that.
Starting point is 01:04:33 Oh, you know what? I did see Zootopia. I saw that one. Great movie. The Sloth. My favorite. Yeah, that was a funny scene. But yeah, so by the end of the movie, though,
Starting point is 01:04:42 mother-in-law and wife were all into it, all into it. It is dynamite. It is. It's really good. But yeah, I'm pretty sure it came out in the last 10 years. Anything with Kevin Costner is really good. Have you ever seen Draft Day with him?
Starting point is 01:04:57 No. It's really good. It looks corny and cheesy. No. I mean, it just depicts what a day for draft day would look like. Yeah, I already went through it when I was going to the NFL so I don't really need to watch it on a movie. Oh, man. Okay, well, that is one of my top Kevin Costner movies.
Starting point is 01:05:12 I love that one. Come on. It's good. It's really good. No, for the love of the game is a great movie. Oh, he has multiple. For love of the game, let me tell you. You want to hear a little confessional right here?
Starting point is 01:05:22 Oh, boy. We're doing a confessional. For love of the game, I was in college and I witnessed all that movie. I was with this chick. Why you keep looking at me in between? You're pausing for dramatic effect. And that movie ended, and there was tears running down my face. Oh, you cried on a date.
Starting point is 01:05:40 You cried on a date. we have it we have it on a confession it was a confessional I cried during that movie dang did she not go on a day with you after that oh no we made out more after that oh she liked she liked the crying oh I don't know I mean we like went to maroon 5
Starting point is 01:05:57 at the amphitheater in shirts Texas we made out in the rain when they're us then at maroon 5 who is this lunchbox because I don't feel like that's who lunchbox is today what you mean make out in the pouring rain yeah why would I not make out that's like a romantic movie
Starting point is 01:06:12 What? Making out in the rain. No, it's a concert. You're at a concert and it starts raining. You have lawn seats. What are you going to do? Run? No, you're going to sit there and make out.
Starting point is 01:06:24 Oh, boy. New side of you. Well, okay, my favorite Disney movie would be probably Avengers Endgame. It's the big finale. Oh, Iron Man's pretty good. You do like Iron Man. Is that a Disney movie? That's a Marvel movie, yes.
Starting point is 01:06:37 It's a Disney movie. Okay, that's a good one. That's a good one. You had some solid ones. give it to you. What about your favorite movie of all time? Braveheart. Braveheart. It's amazing. I still haven't seen that one. Oh my gosh. I mean listen, I've had, I have a lot of assignments. No, you have so much free time that you can watch Braith. I don't have free time. Oh my gosh. I don't think you understand. I don't have free time. Braveheart is amazing.
Starting point is 01:07:05 Amazing. You may take our lives, but you'll never take our freedom. Bravo. I am William. William Wallace. Please don't finish you. Where are you going? I'm going to pick a fight. Every time. Every time what?
Starting point is 01:07:24 Every time I get you on something that you're really excited about. It just continues. Like the teachers, naming the teachers, they just kept coming. Oh, yeah. What grade you want? I don't want one. My accounting teacher, Mr. Lampkin and high school? I've got two favorite movies of all time.
Starting point is 01:07:38 Are you ready? Yeah. Sweet Home Alabama. And Ready Player 1. Never seen Ready Player 1. I think you would actually really like Ready Player 1. Yeah. Though you also didn't even like Black Panthers, so I don't know.
Starting point is 01:07:50 No, no, no, no. You overhyped it and I thought like it was the best movie of all time. It's a really good movie. There wasn't a lot of fight scenes. All right, well. And when I'm going into... Did you ever watch Avengers in game? I don't know what that is.
Starting point is 01:08:03 It is. It's like the finale of all of the... But don't I had to watch the first Avengers? Oh, you'd have to watch like all the movies, technically. But I think my sister went and saw Avengers in game without seeing a lot of the other movies. So I bet you could watch it. Probably not. Enjoy it.
