pre-show. Just finished the last show of the week. We have been in a new studio all week, and so for us, there have been some growing pains through this first week, but like the boss has told me, hey, good thing it's summer. Nobody's I shouldn't say nobody. Well, yeah.

But no, no, no. People are on different schedules, but I was going to say nobody's on their same schedule. Parents are taking kids at school. So most people aren't on the same schedule that they've been on. So they're like, yeah, whatever, go on there and screw it up for a week. I thought we did pretty good, though. I got to give some shoutouts.

Ramundo came in, and his job has changed a bit where he's now running the show from the glass room. So I think Raymondo's done a fantastic job. Yeah, great. Thank you. Thank you. And is it? Are you feeling stress? Ironically enough. But yeah, it has a little bit. Yeah, I've been very chill and just relaxed back here. Probably placebo. Probably. I was reading a story about vitamin water because he brings this up.

And then there was a moment between y'all, but I don't care. But the great thing about fighting with our Monday is we are over it in like

eight seconds. Oh, I was impressed. Like, I actually was kind of jealous of how quickly y'all rebounded because, like, I'm not that quick, and I was like, I could learn from this. Wait, I don't know about the fight. I know. In really a fight, it was, we had like 20 seconds before we're going on. I'm just going, this, this, this, this, which probably wasn't the most effective way to communicate.

And then Ramundo starts getting mad at me and is like, what were you calling me, big guy? And I was like, hey, and I'm sorry about that. No, no, and I was like, don't call me big guy. And he was like, communicate better. And we were like, all right, cool, on to the next thing. And we were just over it. Okay. Go ahead.

You could say what you saw. So, it's just me with them. And we're back in Bobby's office. and Ray does say big by Big guy. He was like, Hey, he goes, okay, so Bobby said something

and it was supposed to be handled and Ray heard something differently so he did it the way he thought so Ray didn't think he messed up he's like, that's what I thought you said and then Bobby was like well it just messed up the entire thing blah blah blah

and then Ray's like I could feel like in Ray's head he's just like screaming I'm doing the best I can this is me this is my interpretation of what's going on with Ray's he's about to explode he's like there's so many new things happening I'm back here

I'm trying to figure all this out and I'm doing this for you and now you're yelling at me in front of everybody. So that's when Ray comes in with like, okay, big guy, because I think all those thoughts are in his head. And then Bobby's like, hey, don't call me big guy because, like, that's disrespectful.

Like, no big guy, especially with that tone. And then Ray was like, well, don't yell at me in front of everybody. And then I'm like, well, now I'm hearing y'all are yelling and it's just me. And then, like, they're I don't think yelling is the appropriate term. Because I never raised my voice. You didn't. Ray yelled, for sure. But you kept saying I was yelling

at him. I don't ever yell. He used the words. words, don't yell at me, which in that sense he was saying, like, don't correct me like that in front of everybody. Because I think in his mind, he's like, I didn't think I messed up, I'm doing the best I can, and now you put me on blast

in front of the whole show. So I think it was kind of like frustration. And now we're going on blast with her. Did you guys even know? No. That's what I'm saying. I was like, I didn't feel like I called anybody. I just talked to this button. And I was like, hey, this it wasn't going the right way. Dude, all of this is new to me.

I didn't even know this happened. And that's why I was surprised that he felt like he was being called out because the only people that could hear me was him. Yeah, but you have this, you're not yelling. Like, you're not yelling. Like, again, when Bobby's mad, I know, you don't yell. I will, like, to clarify for people listening, like, you don't yell. So you're not yelling, but there is a strong disappointment that comes across. Frustration.

Frustrated. No, no, no, she means on our end. On our end, how we receive your tone. He was receiving for me. I was trying to cram 20 directives into three seconds, and it wasn't fair to Ray, because I was like, we got to get this on, we got to do this, we got to do this, we got to do this, and then it was gone.

And I was like, oh, screwed up. And a better that was on me because I didn't come in in time to tell him. And then it just, he was like, all right, big guy. And I was like, don't call me big guy. We can figure this out. Just don't call me big guy. That's my favorite part. And then it was over.

Yeah. Like some stuff got out and then, yeah, it was over. I was like, Ray left the room and then came back in like to press. record for something else and like they were fine and I was like what am I witnessing here? Like that just went down. If that was me and Bobby it would take way longer than that for me to get over it. You're a bit different though. Exactly but I felt like I could learn something from Ray. Yeah we were just like here's the issue. We're done. I think that's why he bought that drink this morning at the cast station. So he just like be chill. I think it's been a pretty for Eddie

for Ray and myself and a bit Morgan number two. It's been a lot of new stuff this week. It's moving like, oh my God, there's a lot happening. And so not only is the stress about doing the show, but it's even Ray, Ray is a whole new job. He's still doing his old job, but now he's running the show as well. And I imagine there's a lot of stress there. With me, I got all these buttons and screens and trying to make sure the love mics work.

And so there's a lot of stress there. And Eddie's running a whole new system over there. So even Eddie, we're talking last night at practice for our show. We're like, man, it's been a week. Yeah. The show's fun. Yeah, the show's always fun. But it's the in-between parts.

The show's the best part. part of our job, you know? I need a gas station drink. Ray, you got an extra one now? Get three of them, dude. What is it called? Neuro bliss? Yeah, come take a head of this stuff.

The point is, I think Ray and I communicated super effectively, and I felt better. After it, I was like, oh, you know what? I probably shouldn't have tried to cram so much communication in nine seconds. And then... Yeah, I know. I was so impressed. I couldn't believe it. I think I even told my husband about it.

I was like, I literally cannot believe how it got handled. And, like, it was so intense and so awkward for me for, like, you know, 20 seconds or however long it lasted. And then you all came back in and just acted like nothing happened. Because how are they doing that? We understood each other and we're professionals. Right. Both.

It's both things. I can be professional. I'm just way more affected emotionally than that. Oh, I wasn't affected emotionally at all. That's so weird to me. None. You were yelling, but he yelled. And I was like, oh my gosh.

Like, this is about to go. We thought we're going to punch each other? Oh, in my mind, like, Ray was like the next break he was going to come back in and be like, I quit. I quit this bee. And he was going to walk out. But he came back in, he was like, what's up? You want me to hit record right here?

And I was like, what? I'm like, this is, it was good for me to see because I'm like, okay, this is how men handle things. This is how stuff gets done. Like I, I would be so, I come back and crying the next break probably

and then be like, we just need to keep talking about this. It's just not effective for work to hold on to things. I know. Human life, I get it. I've been in relationships and hold on to things forever. I'm still holding onto it.

With work. A, B, C, D. You got to go. You got to get A to B. Or everybody, if I come in with a bad attitude, you all have to suffer for it. If Eddie has a bad attitude, we all have to, it's not fair to us professionally. Now, outside of work, if it's a thing, then you have to deal with that. And Amy and I are so close, we definitely have friendship fights that we get into.

And those don't get resolved immediately. Well, when it bleeds into work. I mean, I guess you can compartmental than me. Okay, fine, because you can compartmentalize it. And also, according to the Four Agreements, don't take anything personal in business ever. What's up? What's the Four Agreements? It's a book that he loves and I tried reading it.

It's like super short, loved it, game changer. Take nothing personal in business. I guess I need to get that back out and read it. I was reading it and I was like, this is hogwash. Probably because I do all of the things. I take everything personally. If we read it, would we understand you a little more? I didn't create myself based on the book.

Yeah. But it's like, you know, I read it and. It can be... Three percent. Implementing the things can be effective in your life case and point. I didn't think much about that even 20 minutes later. Did you, Ramundo? Oh, yeah.

It was a very... Not during the show. I didn't think about it at all, but then at home, you know, I'm going for a run. I'm like, dang, I can't even remember some of the sentences I said. I don't even... At one moment, I almost just blacked out, which is just weird. You don't remember a big guy? I remember big guy, but it was just so early in the morning,

and I wasn't ready for those emotions at that moment. And so I'm like, dang, what was some of the stuff I said? I wish I'd have recorded the whole thing. Oh. But we weren't rolling. Amy remembers all of it. Yeah, it was intense. I think what happened was, like if you get down to it, was

I blame Miranda Lambert. Yeah, we blame Miranda Lambert. She puts out a second song on one of the days. And again, high stress level for a few of us on the show because we're all doing new things. And then Ray's running to dub in a song real quick that just popped. We're trying to get to Morgan number two, second skinny at the show. And I'm like, we're going to do it in this spot.

And in the next spot, we're going to put the top of the hour. And now we're going to... And I just said way too much for 30 seconds for him to be able to move around. And I was like, oh, we missed it. I bit frustrated to myself. And then I walk out and he's like, come on, big guy. What do you go to do? And I'm like, don't call me big guy.

Anything call my big guy? And I was like, all right, we're good. I'll communicate better. No more big guys at the end. Problem over. Mm-hmm. All good. Mm-hmm.

Your recollection is so different than mine, but okay. It's fine. It's fine. Like, I love that y'all just remember. it like whatever but it was intense but that's okay it was okay I'm telling you it was good for me to see like I learned from it I was like wow I can have

because we've had super intense moments we're frustrated and it's like uh and like I now I know you're literally not thinking about it probably 20 seconds later it's no good for business and meanwhile then I'm affected by it for so long so I think I learned from it and I'm like wow I just need to be like Ray and just move on and carry on

get business done and the people you're closest to just playing the numbers, you're going to have the most positive and even negative interactions with. Yeah, I agree. And I probably spend more time with Mike D than anyone.

And there are times where we're just so frustrated with each other because we're traveling together. He's producing the show on the road. Things aren't done at time or I don't get somewhere when I'm supposed to be there because of a shoot.

So again, it's like, blah! On to the next. Yeah. Would you say, Mike D, would you say that that's kind of been our style as of late? Like, frustration! Yeah.

All right, move on. on quickly. Work through it and then move on. It's it. It's like hit it. What's the plan? On to the next thing. So Mike D gets frustrated with you.

Oh, you're just together all the time. Yeah. But are you just quiet about it? That's what I was wondering. How do you approach Bobby when you're mad at him? There was one time where it was just weird. Yeah, it's just an odd vibe. And for me, it's like how do we fix the problem the fastest?

Mm-hmm. Even if it's uncomfortable. I would rather be uncomfortable really hardcore for a short amount of time than be kind of uncomfortable for a long period of time. Yeah. And you're right about the people that you're closest to. They know like all sides of you. It's like some people that you don't work with that much. You just kind of encounter here and there. They think, they're like, oh, this is just so awesome. This is so great. Or she's so, they like, they're just very positive about. And I'm like,

you just don't know. Or you don't know. Well, I would even say how you talk about your kids. Because I'm like, I got to get me one of those. And you're like, well, you don't see the struggles. But you're with them all the time. Yeah. On a much smaller level, definitely not the same, but like my dog. I only post the cute stuff. Yeah. This is little suckers biting and trouble, but I'm with them all the time. Right. So you see all that. But anyway, Raymond, I hated that happen, but I'm glad

it happened too, because I think I learned a lesson from it too. Like, hey, Bobby, chill the F out whenever you have 30 seconds. Yeah, I didn't want to say some of the stuff that I said. I felt like I for the most part said some, a decent amount of things that I did want to say, but then at the end of it, it was just awkward because I was like, dang it, why did I say big guy?

Otherwise, I thought it would have been a pretty clean fight other than that. Yeah. It was fine. Mm-hmm. From anything negative, you always learn something positive. Yeah. So all I care about really on this show is that you do your work and have a good attitude. That's how you get on the air. Do your work, show up, have a good attitude.

You get on the air. We go home. We don't have to hang out. We can hang out all we want. We can do whatever we want. But the listeners deserve us to be in a good mind to be able to do this show. Yep. So the end.

I know we're going to talk about that. I'm kind of glad we did. I'm so glad we talked about it. I've been worried about y'all. Like I thought I was like, wow, this is probably still, but I mean, they're acting like everything's fine, but I wonder if this is still a thing. So now I know, like, y'all are just, I'm impressed. I'm impressed. Congratulations. We are professionals.

Congratulations on being professional and having a handle on emotions and not taking things personally. Don't take anything personal in business. Okay. Ever. Okay. Yeah, so that happened. But again, it's been a hectic week. Even talking when Morgan number two, because Morgan number two and I talk about.

in the evening sometimes. And it's been a bit heavier for you too, huh? Because you're managing all this stuff. Yeah, it's just heavy on social media right now with a lot of negativity more than usual because change is hard. It's not even that changey is the thing. Listeners that don't, that aren't like weigh in have no idea. They have no idea.

This is true. It's just we have such a range of listeners and fans and they're all over the board. And it's just hard and I have to watch it all. And I go home and I'm just like, I am mentally exhausted. More than I'm physically exhausted, I'm just like, I just need to like not think about anything on social media for about two hours to recharge and go back at it the next day. I just am not a complainer. Just period.

I'm just not a complainer. So sometimes I don't understand why people complain when it doesn't benefit them at all. I posted a thing yesterday about me being on Celebrity Family Feud. And then I look over and I see American Idol had posted it. And they were like, hey, check out the. our full-time mentor, Bobby Bones, who would be on Family Feud on Sunday night. And it was getting, I didn't even see at the time,

I kind of wrap it up on the end of this, but all I saw was is one person that was like, yeah, I won't be watching that one, pass. And I go, why even write that? Just let it go. So what you don't want to watch it? Do you have to vocally or on type go, nope, do not like him,

want everyone to know I don't like him, therefore I will write it, so everyone can see it. Yeah. I'm just let it go. There are lots of people that I don't agree with and don't like,

you're not going to see me in a chat room or responding to something. Just mute it or don't respond to it. You know, in life, unless somebody is hurting someone or really standing

against something you super believe in, you can just be quiet. There's no need to be negative when there's really no benefit to it at all. She wasn't fighting for a cause. So, but then I went back and said, hey, because I use these tools.

I go, all right, let me go look at the positive. It had like 100 retweets and like thousands of likes. And I was like, we don't see that at first. All we do is dial in on the one or two negatives. Yeah. I was looking at one of our Instagram pictures from today with Billy Ray Cyrus sitting over here. And they were like, this is stupid. The visual is so terrible.

And I'm like, well, from this picture maybe. But for the people that get to watch it on camera, they're getting to see different angles. They're getting to see Billy Ray up close. on radio you don't even know the difference so C-T-F-O is what I say Shut the No, chill the

Yeah There we go I have to leave in a little bit We have to go to Denver Yeah We're going to fly out in a little bit Um, let me run through some stuff. By the way, my dog walker did not come last night.

She got in a wreck. What? Going over to my house. Yeah, nothing serious. So my dog was in the kennel for like eight hours. And I woke up this morning and I heard him. I'm like, I never like wines when I go get him. And then I didn't check my phone, but I take him outside.

He used the bathroom. Take him in. Grab my phone. She's like, got in a car accident. I'm okay. Did not get to let him out. And I was like, oh, that's kind of why he was. whining, but he didn't use the bathroom in the crate.

Oh, that's good. I mean, again, he probably had to hold it, you know, like the airplane, inside seat. So, so that radio guy was probably kind of right. He's training his bladder. Yeah, he's training his bladder, and that it's kind of your fault that, that you leave him in the pen and you, like, have to go

cater to his knee. He can hold it. He did, he was hurting. I don't want my dog to be hurting. I get it, but now you know he can hold it. I was told, though, that I can now go to six hours at the size of the dog. So she could come at No, she's still going to come for the next couple weeks

in that one spot. But I can put him up earlier if I want. I've been staying up a little later than normal just so he's not in there a long time. But I put on my Instagram my dog is not big enough to go up to stairs yet. And last night was his first time to get upstairs. Wow. How long did that take? Not very long. I went to the top of the stairs, just sat there. And he's like,

I want to get up there. And so on my Instagram story, you'll see right now, he's trying and he's struggling. And then I start playing the Rocky music. So cute. And then he fights it all the way up. Going upstairs? Yeah, he's like, da-da-da-d-d-d-d-a-d-ha. Yeah. He's so cute.

He's going to grow out of that, though. Gosh. What, the cuteness? Yeah. No, I just think he's going to be a bigger version of how cute he is. I have to, like, clean the folds in his face. Oh. The bulldog, you have to, you have to think with bulldogs, because they always lump over.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That makes sense. Yeah, sometimes you'll watch those shows with the, like, like, the morbidly obese people, and they'll find, like, food in their folds. Yeah. You got to clean it. I get that with my dog. Oh.

Watch his face. comparison. That's what it is. It's just a lot of skin. Cow cuddling is a thing. It costs 75 bucks an hour. Cuddle with like a full life cow? Or a calf. Mountain horse farm, a bed and breakfast in upstate New York is where you can bear hug a bovine.

Oh. The practice is fairly common in the Netherlands making its way to the U.S. Owner Susan Volters told Good Morning America that the end is offered cow cuddling since soon after the cows arrived last spring. People can't stop smiling. $75 an hour. You just drive up to a field and find one. Right.

But I mean, maybe these are cows that like to be cuddled. I tried to touch some cows when I was in Colorado, and they kept running away from me. So maybe these are, like, you know, they're there for cuddling. Cows don't really like to be touched. Cows lie down more than horses. They get very quiet and soft. Just sitting with them makes people go quiet too.

Maybe that's what you need, Ray, instead of your gas station weed drink. Honestly, it's a pretty good drink. I might even get it again on Monday. We just need to get you a little cow to keep in your room. Did you know, and I grew up in Arkansas, in the woods, a lot of cows, cow tipping is not a real thing. What do you mean?

You can't tip a cow. When they're sleeping, you can't tip a cow? You can't tip a cow. You may can't tip a cow. You may can get some buddies and trip a cow or one's laying over. I thought people like legit did that. I've heard that forever. Don't they do, don't they do that?

that thing that we used to do, like, where you, like, kneel down behind the cow and then someone pushes it and they don't realize that there's someone back there, so they trip over. Oh, that's terrible. I used to do that as a kid to be, that sucks. I was usually the one that got that done to them. No, it's the word. You're so helpless going down. Here, Mike D. just puts this on my screen.

Cow tipping, experts say it's impossible for a human to push over a dairy cow. The laws of physics will not allow it. So whatever have you heard. What about a non-dairy cow? Yeah, good point. Because it's full of milk, it's heavier. Okay, big guy. I don't know.

This woman admits she hasn't washed her pillow in 10 years. It's disgusting. It is disgusting. I wash my pillow cases every week. My pillows once a month. Why would she never wash her pillow? I'm just confused by this. She took to the Mommy platform MumsNet

and admitted she hadn't washed her pillow in over 10 years. Folks are shocked. They were discussing her. her bad acne and nothing she tried worked. Oh, really? Maybe you try washing your pillow. Like the pillow case. I have not washed my pillow once in the 10 plus years since I bought it. They're horrified. She said she feels very judged.

While the woman added, she was quick to throw out the old pillow and get a new one. Folks were on the site were quick to share how grossed out they were by her revelation. So it was, yeah, pillow. CNN suggests folks watch their pillows, the actual pillow. Right, not just the case. Every three to six months. Oh, I've never done that in my life. Oh, how many years are you on?

Oh, I don't know. years and years and years. You take it off. You can see some of the drool spots. That's when I'm like, okay, it's time to get a new pillow. When you say the F word, it increases your pain tolerance by 33%. A new study finds that swearing when injured has a measurable effect on pain tolerance. What about son of a... Well, they don't have the whole list of percentages of words. It's just the F word. What about... When you watch the Tony Robbins, what I mean... special on Netflix, right? He says the F word like a lot, but he does it for a reason. He said it evokes something and people. When they hear someone talking to them and they start cussing, they like listen. Like if I were to go, this effing sucks. Yeah, we would all stop what we're doing.

You would go, what? Yeah. I haven't, I don't think I've cursed in a few years. Not against it. I actually like it. And you want to know something weird about that is I'm around you a lot. And and I curse, like I don't curse around my kids or anything, but I mean, it's part of my vocabulary. But when I'm around you, I don't. And it's not because I'm like, oh, don't curse around Bobby. But I kind of like it now. Like, I'm like you now. Like, why do I have to curse?

I don't have to, unless I'm really frustrated, like, trying to get that pain tolerance up. Right. For me, it was I was writing probably my first, no, my second book. And I thought, e, I don't want to have to write curse. Because I wrote some curse words in my first book. I remember. And I was like, you know, I don't want to think and have to write with curse words. Because I feel like for me, that was easy.

Some people use curse words like poetry. And they put them in places and it's so funny. But even when I watched the Netflix special on vulnerability. Oh, Brunay Brown. She will curse at the right times. And I'm like, oh, man, she used those words at great times. But I felt like I was using it and it was just a crutch for me. So I just eliminated all cursing.

And then it wasn't because I'm too good to curse. I love cursing. but then people will be like, oh, I don't want to curse in front of you. And then you go, I don't even want to say, I don't cuss. Because I don't want people

affecting their behavior. It's like drinking. I don't tell people I don't drink. Right. Because for me, it's not even a moral thing. It's just something. I would prefer them.

That's why I get fake drinks. On first dates, if they don't know, I go to the bartender ahead of time and go, hey, just keep me coming with the virgin mystery drink. And they do.

Because I don't want someone going, oh, you're not, I shouldn't drink. Yeah. Like, live your life. We're all good. Five guys were arrested for a fight out of five guys. Oh, ironic.

According to police in Florida, five guys were arrested on Wednesday night for a brawl inside of five guys. No word on what start of the fight. Three juvenile males, two adult males were charged. What about these adults fighting the kids? That's fun, huh? You got grown men. Maybe they used to call it a handicapped match where more people fight less people. And so you got two adults fighting three kids.

All right, you're in. Unfortunately, no more details. I just have a bunch of stories that we didn't get to today because I thought the Billy Race Irish stuff was good. We had a good time with them so it went over two segments.

Festival goers push a porta potty over with someone in it. Oh, that's the worst. What happened though, now tell me if this changes your perspective on it. They're all waiting in line to get into the porta potty. One guy cuts line

and then goes, I'm going to go and cuts the front of everybody. He's in the porta potty. And they go, well, you don't cut line. And so while he's in there, after he cut line, they push the porta potty over.

I'm okay with it. It wasn't just a prank. Okay. No, I'm still not okay with it. The group of shirtless men at the festival. Shocker. I like that description. Knocked over the toilet to punish the guy who didn't want to wait in line.

Ha. And so, but you just think you don't cut line. I know you don't. That's where I don't, I do not like it. Worse than being called big guy, cut in line. Yeah. Ooh, that really upsets me.

But then you've knocked over the porta party, which is probably now ruined for the rest of the day for everybody. Ugh. Maybe. But did he learn a life lesson? Probably. Porta potty. That's just so gross.

And speaking of helpless feelings, can you imagine being in there and your thing just goes over? You got nothing. Where are you going nowhere? What sucks about porta potty's is you have to look in the hole. Excuse me? When you walk in? What do you mean? What do you mean?

Well, because it's just a hole. You don't have to really look in the hole. Yeah, because you have to look at the seat to make sure nothing's on the seat. Exactly. I do not sit on that seat. What are you going to do? Okay, but you still have to put down toilet paper or whatever. You have to look down.

And when you look down, it's disgusting. You start looking at prizes. You start looking at like, I'm done. Don't go like. Prices. What are you talking about? You start looking at it. They're like, wow, this has been used pretty good.

Keanu Reeves halts Bill and Ted 3 to sign an autograph. By the way, Keanu Reeves. Yeah, that's right. America's most beloved actor. Not to say that I was on it before America was on it, but I was on it before America was on it. You kind of were, though. He's the internet's boyfriend right now,

but he is my boyfriend before that. Yeah. And then finally, a Texas teen arrested for, oh, and we mentioned this, for spitting in an Arizona tea bottle and put it back on the shelf. The new viral thing to do is to do gross things to food and then put it back so somebody eats it. Yeah, it's not cool at all. It's a felony. Take that in mind.

And it should be. So don't do it. Hey, do you want to do factor fiction before we go, Ramundo? Yeah, let's do it. Ramundo pitched this bit, and I thought we would, I have time for it today. We did not, but I liked it. Wait, and what is this about? I'll have it here is go to Raymondo.

window for factor fiction. Okay, so you guys are writers, you and Eddie, you guys are in a bunch of writers' rooms. So I was just curious, most people don't have any idea about it. Like songwriting. Songwriting in the process and stuff. There's a lot of interesting stuff that goes on, so I had some factor fictions. You just tell me. And where does this come from? Me? I create all the questions. No, no. I mean, why did this come to you? Because you guys got your new head out. Old folks home. Oh, true. Okay. Fact or fiction about song. And I do had songwriter podcast, too. Yeah, and you're breaking some of those factor fiction with that. All right, here we go. Fact or Fiction from Romo, number one.

All right, when artists say they write a song in less than 30 minutes, is that even possible? I'm going to say yes. I'm going to say yes. Rare. Write it, but not really record it to a high quality. That takes a long time. So them just saying that, that's a buzz thing. It takes longer the process with the music and all that.

There's no way they do it in 30 minutes. If they just write it with the... Are you asking or you tell it, right? It sounds like he's telling me. I'm saying, there are songs from friends of mine. that have grabbed their guitar and written pretty much the song in 15, 20 minutes. They'll come back and fix things. All right.

Or improve things. Or maybe write a bridge. But they go, yeah, that's crazy how fast this fell out of me, like 30 minutes. I would say it's possible. It's not probable that happens. It's rare, but it can happen. And prime example, old folks home. I mean, it was pretty quick.

I don't know if it's 30 minutes, but it was close to 30 minutes when we wrote that. To be fair, though, we did still, it's a parody. So the melody was already written. Right, we didn't have to worry about music. A little different. Yeah, yeah. I was actually trying to leave. We were wrapping up a practice and I was like, I'm tired.

And I'd had the idea of, we're going to take me, ma to do folks. And it's like, let's ride it. What are we going to do? And I was like, all right. And then we did it. Yeah, we were like, let's just spend 30 minutes on it. If something comes, cool, we'll keep it. If not.

And, I mean, it just flowed out. And I love it because when Bobby kind of like flows, and I'll use that term as like, he just kind of just starts saying words, it starts feeling good. And they're like, all right, we're moving. Our writing process is like this now over the years. Eddie will have his guitar, and he'll play something, and he'll have his laptop out,

and he'll just start playing something. And I'll just start saying a bunch of ridiculous crap. I'll just start singing to Eddie's music that he's making up. And he'll just write down the things that are kind of funny, and then he'll come back and go, this is funny, this is funny, this worked, and then we'll kind of build back from there. And I walk around like a maniac.

Yeah. He rubs his tummy, picks his t-shirt up, and rubs his tummy, messing with his hair while he writes. And then I just start saying stuff to the melody. That's how it's done. Next thing you know. Yeah.

So do you have to pay Little Nas X for that or how does that work? No. If it makes any money, he gets the money. It's a good question. Yeah, we don't have to pay. Nobody would do parodies if they had to pay. But if it does make any money, the songwriters that wrote the song get the money. Oh.

Because we didn't write the music or the melody. She parodied it. All right, Raymondo, Fact to Fiction. Yeah, we always hear the best songwriters live in Nashville. Is that true? I think for the most part, yes, not all of them. I can name some that don't. Well, LA has a lot of great pop songwriters, obviously. That's what I was thinking. But even in country like Lori McKenna lives in Boston, you know, there's some Atlanta. For the most part, yes, because the industry is here and you have to kind of move here to be around other songwriters to write. So generally speaking, yes. Next. Yeah, so do people in the writing room ever say, that's a dumb idea and shut you down and things get confrontational? Or does everybody just agree with each other and it's all just a yes man atmosphere? good question. Kind of neither one.

So if you get in a room where someone shut you down so it's dumb, then you don't feel free to, because there's not just in songwriting, but anything creative. If you feel like you're going to say something and it's stupid and someone's going to go, that's stupid, then you stop sharing. And you need to kind of overshare

and be pulled back to find your spot. It's not a yes room. A yes room is terrible too. It's just as bad as a no room. So you kind of have to get with people you trust that you can be vulnerable with. I say a lot of stupid things. Or Eddie says a lot of stupid things.

And you just go, like if I were like, hey, let's write a song about the scrotum. Right. All right, let's, you ready? And it'd be like, no, I don't know, I don't know, but it would just go like, I don't think that's right for this one. What else you got?

That's just kind of how it goes. You kind of have to trust the person that you're with too. You don't write a song about the scrotum? I think that's a great idea. But you really have to treat it like almost like it's a client kind of thing. You don't want to make anyone mad. So you say, let's just give it a shot.

Let's try it. And then once you try it and you're like, oh, I don't know, what do you guys think? and then everyone's just like agrees nah it's not a little move on I kind of just go nah not for me yeah I'm pretty quick on that again

If you write a number one song Are you rich Do you have $100,000 $200,000 from one song So here's how publishing you do works for the most part. Let's say Eddie signs a publishing deal to write songs for my company. I'm going to pay you $50,000 a year. Okay? So I'm going to make all my money back that I paid him before it even goes into a split for the most part. So the first thing I'm going to do,

let's say you have write a number one song and there are three people on it. I'll just throw out a number. You're probably going to make $300,000 or so. On a number one with three people. Yay! Depending how long it stays on the chart, depending how long it's there. But that being said, the publishing company gets us money first. There are splits. Yes. But yes, the answer is if you're writing number one, you're definitely making six figures. Yeah, that's important.

Like the whole, you know, publishing thing is like, it's like a loan. They give you a loan first. Like you have your payment to be part of their publishing. But then you've got to pay that back. You've got it in your work. Sort of. If you don't make it in the year, you don't pay it back because it's a salary. With an artist, you get an advance.

You do got to pay that. back unless you fail and they drop you. There's some artists. Like I was talking Mike Dungan yesterday talking about Chris Stableton. He was like on the Bobbycast. He goes, we were like $900,000 in debt with Stapleton because we had put so much money in it and got nothing back. He goes, in one night, he goes

during that song, the Stableton and Timberley Play, we made it all back in one song. Wow. He was watching it. That's crazy. So Stapleton didn't make any of that money up until after 900,000. Then it starts to get divided. Remindlemen, what else you got? Fact or Fiction. Okay, yeah. So these major country artists we hear on our show all the time,

I mean, you just think, oh, they must be awesome songwriters. Do you know if this is true or not? There's some horrible major country artists that are just terrible songwriters. So major country artists are terrible songwriters. Yes. I know there are some that just don't want to write songs. There are some that are like, you know, not really for me to write. I'll just record great songs given to me because I'm not as good a writer as what the writers can write.

So I don't know about horrible. Yeah. But I do know there are some that go, you know what, I don't want to write, or I'm not as good as the professional writer, so I'll just take the good songs. One more. Yeah, one more I got. If somebody writes one word in a song, is it true they get credit as a writer?

Get them, bones. Okay. Yes, sort of. And he's referring to the word for a third. Yes. In theory, by Nashville rules, it's all split evenly regardless of how much that you contribute. Los Angeles, different set of rules.

You can get 2% on a song. In Nashville, if there are four writers, everybody gets 25% regardless if you come up with a bridge, three words. That's generally the rule. I know about artists, and I will not say who it is. You didn't write a single word on a song and they go in to record it, and they change like two words, and they demand they get a third of the writing credit. Dang.

Because that's the rule. Male or female. I'm not even going to lead into that. But I also know artists too that will go in and write some of the song and go, I should not get any credit because it was pretty much all the way here. Jake Owen did that on Barefoot Blue Gene Knight Didn't write the song Goes in, Changes a few things about it

And it goes, you know, I didn't really write this song I just made it and didn't want any of the writer's credit So as I say that some people do the dirty move Some people also do the really clean move like Jake And then they're like, I didn't write the song I don't deserve writer's credit I just gonna make this because it feels a little more right for me It was Barefoot Blue Jean Knight right

I think so I do know that it was Jake But I think it was that song Or maybe it was no It was I don't know I don't know But it was Jake I think so. I mean, I'm picturing him sitting at the table, like telling me that. Did Passleigh write barefoot blue jeans? Yes. Okay, then it was Jake. Yeah. All right. Ramundo,

to get out of a ticket or it's just a for real thing well this happened in south carolina and so cop pulls them over one of the passengers goes jumps out of the car by the way which would also freak me out if i was a cop somebody jumps out of the car you got to stay calm and collected and goes hey you got to take this infant to the hospital she's choking so the day The deputy captured on his own body cam, grabs the baby, feels for a pulse, and begins to massage the 12-day-old Riley, the baby's chest. Wow. He attempts to open the child's airway by lifting her neck and inserting his finger in her mouth. The newborn's chest begins to move, and the deputy seems confident that she can now breathe.

Then you see EMS arrive, take over, baby safe. Wow. 12 days old. And this police officer was calm and collected on so many levels. First of all, somebody's jumping out of a car for any reason. I'm like, whoa, whoa, put your hands up. Right. Police officer's dealing a lot of nutty people doing nutty things.

And then there was a tiny baby and he stuck his finger on the throat and saved it. That's crazy? That's amazing. So shout out to this South Carolina deputy. Deputy W. Kimbrough with the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office. The vehicle was speeding, but to get to the place. Right. Do you still give them the ticket?

I didn't know if it was here on my podcast. But I know that I was talking about how crickets and ants and all those, like, they're really high in antioxidants. But then I was like, well, so we're blueberry. So you can probably just eat those, but these are now going to be considered superfoods, and you might see them pop up in juices.

Well, there are a couple things that you bring to the table early, which it's always the super nutty health stuff. Sometimes, we all have our things that we bring. Me, it's like, hey, this artist will be big. Yeah. Like, this would be the next big pop star even. You know, I remember Amy, check out this post Malone or Billy Eilish even a long time ago. And Amy was like, oh, check this out. You should wear a man-made deodorant made only of clay and, you know, cricket heads.

more antioxidants than like a blueberry juice or orange juice or something. What is antioxidants do? Oh. Like for real though. No one's ever

antioxidized me and I felt good. It's just a word I read and go up. Do you know the definition, Amy? Of an antioxidant? Yeah. Just off the top of your head.

You're a big preacher of it? Well, I don't know. I mean, I know that it helps your body like, It helps. Antioxide? Yeah. It's anti-oxy.

Because I do it too. I know, first of all, I taste terrible. They taste like armpit smell. Really? Like, are you doing a pill? Yeah, a pill and you keep it in the refrigerator. Yeah. And you take it like six, seven a day.

What? Wow. You can take it up to nine. And I'm having like stomach issues. And so every time I open the refrigerator, I take one. That's how I remember. Just when I open the fridge, I take one. Wow.

So I may have taken like 30 yesterday. And doctors say like, you can take as, you can't like overdo it. I'm like, I don't know, nine's. sounds like a lot. I feel like you can overdo anything. Antioxidants. Yeah. Which Amy was preaching to us about and then she's like, I don't really know what that is. I know the antioxidants are good for you. I just don't know

news. With Amy. So on a Georgia beach, a bunch of whales, like, got beached on shore, you know? Like, they just floated up there. It's a very rare occurrence. But there was, like, 20 whales, and, like, five or six of them totally got stuck. So a crowd of people at the beach, like beachgoers, they took the time to push each whale back into the ocean so they could swim free. And the county emergency management team said that they're so grateful for the beachgoers to take the time to do this for these animals because they could be stuck there for a long time if nobody. help them. I saw the video. People were coming out of restaurants, people were running,

driving to it. People were texting, hey, can you help? And all these people came and they just were pushing. It's like a car that doesn't have gas. And they're having to push it back into the water. It's a letter from Johnny Cash. I was getting ready to step out to come in this morning. and I felt like Johnny just kind of... He wrote you this letter, huh? He wrote me this letter, but you remind me of Johnny. You've made a stand. No, I meant it. I mean it.

Honestly, I think Johnny would have been proud of you. You made a stand for something you believed in, and I just felt like I'm going to bring Johnny to the interview, and I put him in a truck, and he wrote in with me, just so... I felt like he wanted to meet you, to be honest. You might have I read this to our listeners? This is the letter, Johnny...

Johnny Cash wrote this to you. This is crazy. Yeah, on June or 19th, June 12th and 92, I believe. Okay, so it's on Johnny Cash Letterhead from Hendersonville, Tennessee, where he wrote it from, June 12th, 1992. Johnny Cash writes, Billy Ray, I was very impressed recently to hear you give God the credit for your success. It's going to be reminded where all goodness comes from. 36 years ago, I was working with Elvis and saw him take the same kind of flack you're taking now. Congratulations on the way you're handling it all.

In your case, as in Elvis, the good outweigh. ways to bad. Let them have it. I'm in your corner, Johnny Cash. That is such a cool. That's such a cool thing, right? Thanks. How often do you ever look at that and go, that's crazy that Johnny Cash wrote me a note? Well, it gets even crazier. One time George Jones came out to my house and he saw the letter and George read it and he goes, man, have you met Johnny Cash? And I said, no, but I've always wanted to. I wanted to thank him for the letter. And Jones's buddy says, well, he's down in Franklin doing a book signing right now. And Jones says, come on, let's go meet Johnny Cash.

And I got in Jones's car. He drove me to meet Johnny Cash at a bookstore. And we came in, and it was this magical moment when Johnny Cash saw George Jones, and Jones seeing Cash, you could just tell the respect and love these guys had for each other. It was magic. I was thinking back on it.

And I remember. the look in the eyes and Johnny took a break and he came over and they like hugged each other and I saw Johnny Cash hugged George Jones. That's crazy and you wrote it George Jones a car. Yeah, George Jones drove me there

and then Jones told Johnny Cash hey you wrote this letter to Billy Ray Cyrus and I was out of his house and he wanted to thank you for writing him the letter and then I shook his hand and thanked him for the letter and let him know how much it meant to me at that time to have

that. It was really a rock to lean on that Johnny Cash had written me the letter. And then June gave me the biggest hug. I mean, the story just gets better. Oh, yeah. And June hug me, and I remember it was like an extended hug. And I thought, man, I hope it's not too long, but I'm not going to let go until she lets go. She was just a wonderful. It was a great, great experience. You mind if I play this new song real quick while you're here?

and I love country music, and I love a great country song. and when I heard this song, I just fell in love with it. I cut it, sang on it back in October, six months before Oatown Road. Is that right? Yeah, this was the beginning. This happened way before Oatown Road. This was, I recorded it in the fall of last year. And it became a bridge to my record label and just John Loba,

Broken Bow, just all these people came into my life. And everything that's happening to me now kind of stems from this song. It was the beginning or a scene. of something very good. a good country song. I love a great country song. I love a great country voice. Johnny McGuire's got that voice. It's unique, it's distinct. When you hear it, you know it's him. And there's something about his youth and that sound and that fire that he has in his voice. And then you put that against my old voice. You hear it.

It's old. It's rough. It's tired. It's soulful. This voice has been through a lot. I was like, man, Billy Ray still got that soul in his voice. Well, thanks.

I love to sing. I love to sing. Making music being in the band is really all I ever wanted to do and be. I'm still just a singer-songwriter that loves being in the band. We call our band Floyd County. And people ask me, they go, well, why you call your band Floyd County? you're from Greenup County. And I say, yeah, but Floyd County was the next county over.

And when I was a kid, my dad used to take me, he would drive from Greenup to Floyd County to go rabbit hunting. And I thought, man, if something's more country than Flatwoods, Kentucky, then it must really be country. So we go to Floyd County. And then in football and baseball, if we were playing Floyd County, we knew those kids were going to be tough, they were going to be country, and they were going to be ready to get it. And there was just something about Floyd County. I said, well, let's just be Floyd County. It sounds right.

And they're probably appreciative of the shoutout. They're like, holy crap, can you believe the band's called Floyd County? Yeah, I know. But people in Greenup, I don't know how they feel about it now. But, you know, just on the flip side of that, Greenup County has had a boom in tourism because there really is an old town road in Greenup County, Kentucky. And there's an old bridge that was built during the 1800s. It's a covered bridge called the Old Town.

town bridge. And I see pictures of it all the time. There's kids and buses and people go out to Old Town Road and get their picture made on that bridge now. So Greenup's having a little bit of a boom from this thing. I do want to, and we'll come back a second and talk about this, but I do want to talk about like how you got involved on the very, very front side of Old Town Road. Like who made the call? Don't say yet, because I'm curious because I don't know the answer. Did you call Lil Nas X or did Lil Nas X call you? I just don't spoil it. You're making head movement. I don't want to know you. I need to be teased through the break too.

So we'll come back and do that. And also, Billy Ray was kind of giving me a hard time. Not a hard time, a good time for my dancing skills. Oh, yeah. Congratulations. Like, it would be easier to go to Mars than when dancing with the stars. And you went out there and won it. And it was, I was so proud of you.

And I kept wanting to say, everybody vote for Bobby. Everybody vote for, and then I thought, if I do say one thing, then people's going to go, okay, I remember they, they called Billy Ray a drunken bear running through a swamp. And I thought, I don't want to bring any negativity to Bobbin. I'm not giving them one negative thing to bring in to, from where I was on the show. And like, they called me some bad things. I got some hurtful stuff at me too.

No, you did not. It was controversial that I won because I was not a good dancer. You were a great dancer. Dancing is about bringing the joy or even. emotions of life, be it tragic if you're doing a sad somber or a joyful dance of your feet flying and all this. But that's what dancing is supposed to be like a song. You're expressing the emotion of the song and you did it. You nailed it. You won it. Why did you do it? I asked myself that every damn day because I've never danced in my life. Why in the hell I thought it would be a good idea

to enter a dance contest when I never danced today in my life? I have no idea. I think I I was just searching for something. My father had recently passed away, and I was in the midst of this moment of Hannah Montana, and my life felt like, gosh, where's the freedom of creativity and some expression? I felt like, I don't know, I was just looking for something new.

And for some reason, you know, life is a series of adjustments, and you make choices. And in that instance, I made a bad choice. Oh, you think it was a bad choice? Oh, there's no way. If I could reverse one thing in my life, I would not have signed up for dancing with stars. Wow.

How many weeks did you last? I think it was eight. That's almost the whole show, Billy Ray. It was seven weeks longer than I should have. That's for sure. Isn't it nuts right before you go on live when you're looking at the dance floor and you hear, all right, we got 15 seconds. And even before you go on and do your dance, you hear, ding, ding, ding, ding.

And you're like, oh, my God, here goes nothing. And then you just go. It's the most terrifying feeling in the world. Because you like me have had no experience ever. Like I went into it too. Never had a lesson, never did any dance at all. Yeah. I'm thinking about it.

You surely had some training. I appreciate that you feel that I looked like I was a good enough dancer to have training. But I fell down the first week. Like I fell down on the show. I finished the dance and I slipped because I didn't know my shoes were slick and I fell on my shoulder. And it still hurts. And I still to this day think or thought that you did that intentionally. to play the sympathy card to get everyone to go, man, look at how far this guy.

If you fall, then see right off the bat, you got back up. I'm not above that. You got back up. But this was real. Like, I really fell. You really did fall. And then I really got back up. And you got back up, and that's what you do in life.

You fall, you get back up. Well, I mean, you have a genuine fan right here, Bobby. I love Billy Ray. I once paid. Listen, Billy Ray. place to carry you around now. I probably could have reached out to Billy Ray, but I bought a Billy Ray guitar to charity auction once.

And it was Some Gave All. And I was like, I'm such a big Billy Ray fan. And he's left-handed like I am. And it was a left-handed guitar. It was the old John Lennon guitar. And I bought it and I keep it in my house. Like, I love Billy Ray. And so I'm his biggest fan.

I think we're sitting here fan-boying out on each other, if that's okay. Well, it's fine with me. And you mentioned to me Some Gave-All, and I brought you a real special gold, some-gave-all coin. The Friday morning conversation with Billy Ray Cyrus. Tell me how Old Town Road with you came to be because I woke up all morning. We were playing this all, and all of a sudden I see you in the studio on a video. And you guys are laying down your part. So kind of talk me through the beginning of your life in this song.

Well, back it up. Just one hair of when, again, in October, I recorded Chevys and Ford's, came in and met John. Loba, Broken Bow, decided I'd been working for a year and a half on my new album, The Snake Doctor Circus, writing the songs, recording a lot of muscle shows with all these great musicians. My life was geared up for the Snake Doctor Circus, and this whole thing was meant to be kind of a revival, a festival, a celebration of music, and these songs that me and my partner, Don Von Tress, had written. And anyway, long story short, it wasn't going to come out until May.

But the first of the year, this year, was being all geared up for the release of the album in May. Well, on March the 14th, I was just up having a cup of coffee in California and got an email about it was from Columbia Records reaching out in the name of Little Nazegs. and wanted to know if I would take a listen to this song, and would I be interested in joining him on the song? And I said, well, who is Lil Nas X? And where is the song? And so it was like a link to TikTok.

And so I hit the link, and up comes the song and the horses. And I just, like, stood up and go, what could I do to it? It's already a hit. I mean, I love this. I love this song. It was like instantly it was my new favorite song, and Little Nausex was my new favorite artist,

but there was no need, there was nothing I could do to make it any better. I thought it was already a hit. And so then I contacted the Columbia, President of Columbia Records had sent me the email, and he goes, introduced himself and told me a little bit of the backstory. And then he said, you know, if you look, and then they sent me some information,

Little Knauz had reached out for me on Twitter as early as December. And he had sent a note when the song started getting its legs up and people were doing the dance and TikTok was kind of, it was growing. It was before he had the record deal, before the song had went completely international and gonzo. and he reached out on Twitter saying, does anyone know how I can get this song to Billy Ray Cyrus? So he wanted you months before? He was that much in his mind.

He was thinking all this out. I got to say, man, little Nazex. He gave me and really the whole world a lesson on, hey, take a look at the tools of your trade. Look what's out here for you to get your music out to an audience around the world. I'm a student of this business. I'm again, a musician, singer, songwriter. I should have known all this stuff. I've always tried to be learning and be on the cutting edge of what is available. How do you make a living in the music business? Well, I go TikTok,

this song, that little Nazex, he's on the forefront of where the future is in music. Plus, I love the song. So on the four, immediately within 10 minutes, I said yes. And they said, when can you come sing? And I loved it so much, I said, today. And so they couldn't find an engineer. And they said, we got it set up for tomorrow. Will tomorrow work?

And I said, yeah, that'll be great. It'll give me time to study. And so I went into my studio and asked Alexa if she would play. I had it written down on card. card, Lil Nas X, Old Town Road. Alexa, play Lil'Oz-X, Old Town Road, boom, she'd play it. And I started writing down the words,

writing down the chords. I started playing on guitar. By the end of that day, I mean, I just could not stop singing the song. And I'm still saying, what in the hell am I going to do to it? It's already a hit. There's nothing I can do. Well, I went in the next day to the studio on Sunset.

And when I got there, they said, hey, we want you to write a verse. I go, oh, no, I said, somebody should have told you, I can't write on purpose. I have to be going through desperation and catastrophes and all this stuff has to happen to me. And then my songs just come to me. I've never written a song with an appointment. And, oh, you can do it. And luckily they had this young lady that's a great writer.

Yazi was in there, and she's written a lot of rap, pop. kind of, you know, she's from that world of, she just knew what to do commercially. She was going to be my partner to write. And so, I mean, she just said, where do you want to start? How do you make this? I said, I don't know. She said, wear your hats down. And I said, yeah, and I drove across town.

She said, you're living like a rock star. And then she said, star, well, I have my guitar in my hand. naturally the only thing I'd say, you know, something about my brand new guitar. And then I don't know why. Just instantly I said, baby's got a habit diamond rings and marijuana. And she said, I like it all except the marijuana. And she said something about a Fendi sports brawl. And I didn't know what that was, but I thought, hey, that sounded kind of like, that sounded cool.

And so it just, we bounced it in 10 minutes. we wrote that verse. And then I got in the box and she kind of, she told me to sing up. And I was going to sing up like Nas was singing down. And I started doing that. And she said, no, you got the range. Go up there and get it. And I started doing it.

And I don't know, I did just a few takes of it. And everybody was all jacked up going, man, this feels good. And so that was on the 15th of March. And then on the 17th of March, Columbia had heard what I did. And they said, please come in and sing the opening and the chorus. Because I hadn't done that. I just sang the new verse I wrote. Oh, you didn't go in initially and do it.

Go on a tick. Oh, wow. No, I didn't sing that part. I just did the new verse that I wrote and thought that's all they wanted me to do. And again, I didn't even think that it even needed that. But they said, come back in and sing the whole thing. So I came back in on the 17th of March. and sang up from top to bottom.

And then they said, is there anything you could do besides the hum? And so the only thing I could think of is I whistled. And when I did the whistle, then I got the note back from Nause and Keough and all of them go, the whistles, the stuff. Go whistle, whistle. And so I doubled the whistle.

That was it. That's the way it happened. And it has blown up. Were you surprised that your version of the song has kind of been the version? It's the one now. All I know is really, like, again, I was done singing by March 20th, I had everything I was going to do that I could do to it. And then there was two weeks. Now, my spirit, something inside me, again, I don't have a lot of talent, but I do get feelings about things.

and I get just every now and then my instincts might kick in and I'll get a feeling about something. My spirit was dancing on this song. Like, is this going to happen? And there was a while that it wasn't. Is it? There was talk of other people and what, and I was basically having a nervous breakdown

going, this song has to come out now. And I was just like every day would be a catastrophe of the song almost going away. But my spirit said, this is so special. It's got to happen. And on April the 4th, the video you saw, that was me and Nas really meeting each other for the first time.

I went into the studio and we did that little thing because the record was coming out the next day. So that was on the night of the fourth and on the morning of the 5th of April, I just remember Miley beating on my door going, Dad, you're number two. You're number two, the only person in front of you is the Jonas Brothers.

And I was like, it was early in the morning. I'm going, what are you? And then I hear more. And there's this noise coming out of my house. Like the kids, everybody's, that's number, going to number two. And then all of a sudden, this big roar popped up, and they were all yelling going, you just passed the Jonas brothers. And now I'm sitting here 15 weeks later, and it's just been a blur.

What happened to Papa was I had to go get busy. I did know that, wait a minute, you got one shot at this thing, you better go to work. And next thing I knew, I was flying to Rolling Loud, the biggest rap festival in America. I was headed to MetLife to sing with Cardi B and be at that festival. And Glassenberry, England, and like, I just started. And my show dates, all of a sudden, my agents calling every day, and my price is going up. and the dates are coming in tenfold. I'm like, wait a minute, it's raining goodness here.

You've got to make hay while the sun shines, and all of a sudden I just went to work. And it was actually really good for me. I'm kind of, you know, I feel proud now that I put my boots and my pants on and got out of the house and went to work, and it's been really fun. And it's like kind of, it's odd for me. I mean, I'm 57 years old, going to be 58.

on August 25th. And for me to be sitting here now, that's kind of why I brought Johnny in this morning. You know, just this is a full circle moment for me of gratitude. Johnny said to me when I met him, he had all them fans lined up. And he pointed, Jones and I both stand there. He said, see, it's what country music is about.

It's about these fans. And I was like, yeah, it'll always be about the fans. And to think that for me, these fans, country music has allowed me to come do what I love to do here in this town since 1992 and those fanfares and fanfare becoming CMA Fest and there might have been a lot of changes in country music and the music world in Nashville but the one thing that has stayed constant is country music is about the fans and Johnny was right and for me being here three decades later and still just being able to have this conversation.

I'm a very grateful and humble man, just to be in this moment. I don't know what tomorrow holds. I don't know what I'm going to do from here, but to be in this moment, I'm just thankful and really grateful to people like you who stood up for me and this song. You didn't have to do that.

But some of them I do feel like sharing because they're so awesome. Today in 1996, Garth Brooks played to a special crowd in Denver, Colorado. The audience included the one millionth ticket buyer for his two-year-long world tour called the Garth Brooks World Tour. Her name is Coral. She was the buyer of the one-millionth ticket. And Garth celebrated the occasion by giving her flowers. Sweet. Nice.

By the way, in case you're wondering, I love Garth. But we were doing the million-dollar show that Eddie and I do, the raging idiots, at the Ryman in Nashville. And Garth said, hey, I'm going to donate proceeds from my record for a couple of months to you. And they told me,

And they say, Gart's going to bring a check for a couple hundred thousand dollars over to the Raging Idiot Show. And so we were playing. It was near the show, and I see Garth over to the side stage. So, okay, I'm going to bring him out. So it comes out and he's got one of those big old massive checks. And I'm like, oh, this is going to be great. He's going to donate $200,000. He may even go full Garth and make it $300,000.

And he flips it around. And there was a two, but instead of $200,000, it was $2 million. That's crazy. He donated $2 million to St. Jude. And I was just like, what? What is happening here? It was amazing. I love Garth Brooks

the contestant Jed's ex-drama. So, you know, we brought in his ex-girlfriend who was his girlfriend when he went to the show. Right. And so he's one of the finalists. Oh, he's still there. He's not going anywhere. So Haley Stevens came in on this show and said they were dating.

He left to go to The Bachelorette saying that she was under the impression. He was coming back to her because he was just going to be famous. And Chris Harrison says he knows there was a relationship there, but he wants to give Jed a chance to tell his side of the story during the upcoming men tell all. The thing is, though, he's had like three months to get a story straight. Oh, yeah. Fine-tune it. He said, let's give Jed time and see where it all falls.

Do we want to give Jed the time? Absolutely. We want to hear his side of the story. I agree. We should always hear both sides of the story. And I invited him on this show, too. And did he reply? He did not want to come on. He did not want to come on. Oh. But, and he's a musician. I thought, we'll let him play his music.

Yeah. This is bigger than, no, we're not bigger than The Bachelorette. I was to say, more people would listen to his music here than on the Bachelorette. And then I watched the Kennedy Center. I'm convinced they dubbed in so much laughter. You would have thought I was Chris Rock. They were like, and here he is, Bobby Bones.

Money. That's funny to hear him yell that. Yesterday I had Mike Dungan come over to my house. Yeah, how'd that go? It was great. And he's about as big of a deal as you can be working in country music. Like he runs, he's the CEO of a major record label. And so he came over yesterday.

And we sat for about an hour where we were able to talk about some stuff. And some of these stories are so good. He's the chairman's CEO of Universal Music Group. He has artists like Luke Brian, Keith Urban, Chris Ableton, Darius Rucker, Casey Musgrave, Sam Hunt. And we got into all of their stories. But he said that back in the day,

Luke Brian got mad at him when he said, hey, man, I know you got these songs here, but none of them were good. And then they pulled up like 30 songs. He's like, none of these are good. Oh, wow. Here's that clip. I said, what else you got?

And Luke, real angry, says, man, I got nothing. I just got some scratch vocals on my laptop. I got nothing. I said, bring it out. Let's listen. And this is a scratch vocal. It's just a timon of guitar.

It's called Rain is a good thing. And I looked at him and at this point, everyone was staring at the ground. They didn't want to deal with this conversation at all. And I said, guys, what's wrong with this? And so that was it. That's how the song. And that song's such a jam?

And then there was another part we talked about Chris Stapleton. And he was talking about, by the way, this is Mike Dungan, the CEO of Universal Music Group, talking about how Chris Stapleton met Justin Timberlake before that first performance at the CMAs. Here's that. This woman says, you don't know me, but my name's Jessica Beale, and I'm married to Justin Timberlake. And his birthday's coming up in a month. And I wonder if this guy, Chris Stapleton, would consider coming and singing at the party.

Stapleton calls me and says, well, what do you think about this? And I said, you know, geez, it's nothing else. You can tell your kids and your grandkids that you were at this party one time. And then he goes and plays the party, and the next thing you know, he calls Justin back later and goes, Hey, would you mind playing the CMAs with me? Oh, wow. It's a crazy podcast. Like Mike Dungan is his name.

It's the latest episode. He also, we talked about his history. He was the person who broke Jesse's girl for Rick Springfield. Oh, really? He did? Yes. And so he got fired because he was supposed to be promoting a different song. Here's that clip.

I went up to Columbus, Ohio, and I started playing this song, and three of the four stations I visited, hit the record, added it. So I came back so proud of myself that I was breaking a, record only to find out that I was being fired by my boss who was really angry because I got did not get anything on the priority record it's a it's a really fun interview and he talks about being with rick springfield and they were at the zoo and the crowd is chasing them the barrier comes down because the kids and this one 12 year old girl was about to catch them and he goes if we get caught by this girl the whole crowd gets us and we're mauled and he goes so i took my elbow and boom oh no is that in

the clip too little girl in this next clip yeah one more More clip. Here we go. Out of nowhere, this tiny little 12-year-old girl is a speedster, and she breaks through the crowd. She's going to catch Rick. I'm running, and I just cold-cocked her with an elbow right in the side of the head, knocked her down into the mud. Well, interesting, the zoo director was a guy named Jack Hanna. Oh, wow, Jack Hanna. He was just Jack Hanna. Isn't that crazy? Anyway, check this podcast out. What world is that? Yeah, so crazy. It's a great one. He, you know, is the debate. We talk about Sam Hunt and Casey Musgraves, Darius, the stories are fantastic.

Mike Dungan, episode, I think 188 of the Bobbycast. He's the chairman's CEO of Universal Music Group. Came to the house yesterday for like an hour. It was awesome. It's really a fun podcast. Amy's Four Things with Amy Brown, by the way, has Trisha Earwood on it. Yeah. And so she does the whole show with you.

Yeah, she did all four things and talked about four things she's super grateful for. But there's, I listened back to the whole thing because I wanted to feel it. Because I was getting notes that people were saying it's my best podcast yet. And I love that she shared. It was all about gratitude, but inside each thing is she has little nuggets of wisdom that are tucked in. And I'm like, oh, that's good. Make note. Like, just stuff you can keep in mind.

There you go. It's a Bobby Bones show. Over half of men admit to feeling embarrassed about their body hair. You know, I've had some laser hair removal on the back of my neck, like that top part of my back. Yeah. I had moles taken off. And oddly, like, brello pads grow where those moles were removed. And I was really embarrassed about that.

And so I got the laser removal and it works wonderfully, but the rest of my back have like little bitty hairs that come out. And I don't have back hair, but I have enough to have fallocytis, follicitis, whatever that is. And the doctor's like, you have this thing where your little hairs grow back into your skin and it makes pimples. My back is disgusting. So I have hangups about body hair.

Yeah. Chest hair is at number one, which I don't have a lot of that. Remember back in like the 70s and 80s? It's very in. Yeah. There were people that wouldn't take their shirts off because they didn't have enough chest hair.

I'm going to read stories about that. Like, it was so in fashion. Back hair is at number two. Beer belly hair is at number three. Beer belly hair. Yeah, like that, I guess that patch on your belly. Yeah. Is your husband hairy?

His chest is a little bit. Back, not so much. Stomach, nothing. Do you let him shave his body? He, no. Do I let him? Yeah. Because you make him grow as beautiful.

Don't act like that's crazy because you made him grow his beard out. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He, I love his beard. Whatever grooming he does, he's allowed to do, I guess, except for his beard. He wants to shave it sometimes, and I'm like, nope. I shave my armpits with the clippers. Is that funny, Eddie?

Yes. Why do you do that? I don't like hair in general. My whole thing is like, it's there for a reason. Okay, then don't cut your hair on your head. So is that how you want your wife? If I had the hair on my headbones, I wouldn't cut it. get haircuts. But is that how you want your wife to be?

It's supposed to be here. Good point, too. Okay, thank you. Fine, I regress. Okay, number two, what do you think about body hair on guys? I really only like chest hair and scruff. Other than that? You like chest hair? Yeah, a little, not a lot.

Like, a little bit. Because I don't have much. I was thinking about getting it laser removal off, too. I just want to be no hair. I want to be like one of those hairless cats to walk around. Yeah. Just slick. I mean, I can see you taking care of your best.

back. Maybe the, if you got hair removal on the... Do you want to look at my back? Tell me how gross it is. Do you want me to? Yeah, take a look at it. Okay. If you, if you were to get the laser hair removal on it, it'll help with your follicitis or whatever you have. Yeah, I have the weirdest diseases. Amy's walking behind me. Tell me how gross my back is though, one to ten. Oh, yeah. No, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't vomit. No, but you can, yeah. Go ahead. I can see it's causing you trouble. She's being very diplomatic with, I can see it's causing me trouble. It is, I can see where it's causing some bumps and stuff. But yeah.

I was getting a massage once because my shoulder's injured and she was like, oh, I think you may have a tumor or something in your shoulder. I was like, no, it's a pimple because I'm just a gross person. My hairs grow into the... An airline is apologizing for a tweet because they said, hey, here's how you survive a plane crash. Yeah. I mean, I don't know why it's so bad for an airline to put that out.

But is it like insensitive? Well, I guess you would think an airline wouldn't want their customers thinking about the possibility of dying in a horrific plane crash? But practically speaking, it's great to put out there. Right. Car places put out how not to get in a car accident. Do they?

Sort of. Safety. They show you test dummies. This airline posted, according to data, the fatality rate for the seats in the middle of the plane is the highest. However, the fatality rate for the seats in the front is marginally lesser and is leased for the seats in the rear third of the plane. Hashtack Tuesday trivia. Wow. Oh.

They deleted the tweet about 12 hours later and apologized. They said the post was based on a publicly available aviation fact and isn't an opinion. Wow. I'm sure like four people were like, why aren't you posing that? Yeah, who cares? Yeah, who cares? Everybody needs to stop getting so butt hurt over everything. I'm appreciative of the information.

We're going to fly. You have to fly unless, I mean, if you need to get somewhere fast, but otherwise you're driving. Like, I have friends, though, that they do not get in airplanes. Like, they will drive. my sister, for example, if she can drive somewhere, she will. If she has the time. I was reading a story this morning about self-driving cars and how they think when self-driving cars really become a thing in the next 10 years or so,

that the airlines are going to take the biggest hit because people would rather get in a car and not have to drive and be on their computer and spend a couple more hours and having to go to an airport, wait in line, get on an airplane, all of the airplane world that they don't want to have to deal with. So they think the self-driving car will actually hurt. at the airline industry. Wow. So I, yeah, I have no problem. I sit on the inside, like I'll, you know, in the Southwest flights, I'll take the side with the, there's like one panel

that doesn't have a window. I go to the same seat every time. It's on the right side of the plane, if you're looking. One panel doesn't have a window, one panel has a window, and I use that panel without the window to lay my head down and go to sleep. I'm a real pro with this, right? But my problem is, and I tweeted about this, and a live tweet, is I got to pee so bad sometimes. If I'm flying to California, that's a four and a half hour flight about two and a half hours in i got to pee because i'm drinking a bunch of water and if the people are asleep do you just hold it and risk bladder bust? No. Or do you have to wake them up because i'm the one that picked the inside seat it should be on me

to not have to wake them up and i'm feeling terribly guilty that i got to be like sorry to wake you i don't want anybody waking me up if i'm asleep it's so hard to get to sleep on an airplane i know it's the worst what would you do if you have to go really bad what do you do i have to wake them up there's no way i'll hold it i mean i can't i'm to this point in my life where i cannot hold it. So I'm so sorry. I'm going to feel horrible. You're not a golden girl. It's harder to hold it as you get older. Yes. I mean, I'm there. I don't know. That's the thing. My husband is like, what is wrong

with you? Because he feels the same way. He's like, you're not a grandma. I'm like, listen, I don't know when my body changed, but now that I'm 38, we have got to get to a bathroom right now. Well, what I did is I waited for them to even like move. Wow. If he was like, just moving around, I'll be like, oh, now that you're awake. That's what I did, though. Because if you're moving around, you're a little bit, you're a little more awake. So I waited for the middle person to move. And I was like, oh, now that you're awake.

And then she woke up the person next to her. Oh, now it's not on you. Not on me. I wasn't going to wake him up straight up. What I get in trouble, follow me here. Let's say I got to really pee. And I just pulled out like this bottle, this smart water bottle. Yes, you were getting.

And I covered myself with a blanket and just peeed right there and then put the lid on it. Well, then if nobody saw you, then you wouldn't get in trouble. But if it comes, if they're like, so what? it's in the bottle. Or if they say, are you peeing? You have to lie. You have to lie. And I don't show them my pee-p or my ween.

But if I'm like, yes, I am, but they don't see it. Would I get in trouble? I don't know. I don't know. Is there something like public urination, even if you're not? Oh. I don't know you can get in trouble for that. We should test it.

So you remember, I spent like two years in Austin, but in 2000. I was making that transition to go live with him because we had been married for like year and a half

and we weren't even living together. Like 2007 for me was when I was probably super broke. I was doing okay, but I was spending all the money on getting the show syndicated. Like I was syndicated to myself. That's what 2007 feels like to me. Like, I think we can do it. And you were leaving.

And I was like, oh no, we may not be able to do it. The biggest pop song from 2007 was Summer Love from Justin Timberlake. On this day in 2007, the biggest country song was Lucky Man from Montgomery Gentry. And the biggest thing of pop culture on this day in 2007, the first episode of Mad Men debuted on AMC. The series premiered in July 2007 on the cable network AMC. After seven seasons and 92 episodes, Mad Men's final episode aired on May 17, 2015. The creator dreamed up the idea for Mad Men while working as a writer.
