Good. You? Good. Weird. It's always weird to come in. First break of the show and the weekend's been nutty with the protests haven't been nutty, but when it turned ugly, it got pretty nutty with the, when it started, the riot started happening.

I'll tell you, you know, and I'll just say this about me personally before we get into what happened this weekend. I didn't watch a lot of it Friday afternoon, even Saturday. Just as an update, I went back to the doctor, got a call from my doctor, got some results that weren't that good about my brain. So I spent a lot of that day, not even that dialed in. So until Saturday night, for the most part, I really didn't catch a lot of it. I watched a bunch of it Saturday night. Then wrote a message on Instagram Sunday morning, and then people were like, why didn't you respond sooner? And I was going to be like, well, you know,

I got some not so fortunate medical news, but then I just didn't, you know, it's just like you can't fight with folks. That's why the internet or our platform and people listening, they don't know every part of our lives. They don't know every single thing we're processing and going through.

And so to, because I got messages too. and to yeah to be attacked for when we choose to say something that we have on our minds or in our hearts is really bizarre to me why not just be like okay wow like thank you for sharing what you have to say on this matter instead of instantly being like y'all should do this sooner or this is what's important we have stuff going like i would say for me last week you had health issues happening I would say Wednesday, Thursday of last week, I had the hardest two days as a parent ever that I won't disclose.

But there's so much people are processing in the world that why would people feel the need to attack us for when we feel the time is right to make some sort of a statement? Well, so, and I won't probably today, I won't say anything else because, listen, I'm not the victim here. I'm just having.

medical issues, it did not, it's not happening like I had hoped. And I'm a little worried, a little scared, but that's not even what we're talking about. My only point was, I didn't post about it until Sunday morning because I really wasn't completely dialed in until Saturday afternoon, Saturday evening. And I just didn't have the capacity. I was a bit in shock at what I was seeing in a wonderful way and then in a way that made me anxious at the end. Right. Because that's, it's the right message. It's absolutely the right message. I've said, not even just about this, I love protests. Love it. It's people galvanizing for a single voice. And I think the protest is absolutely right and justified. You know, you and I were talking off the air before the show and I just mentioned it.

I was like, hey, you know, I was watching the riots. And I was like, oh, I hate that I even thought of that as riots. I wish I would have thought of it as protests. But that's- Because there were peaceful protests happening all over the place. We watched it. We all watched it at some point. I mean, we as in you listening right now. We all watched, we all felt, again, and I think the protest is just and right.

And it's when people start to get hurt or damage property, for me, that's where I struggle and go, all right, this is a whole different thing that I'm not comfortable with. And then I got really anxious and then I was already not in a good place because of whatever I'd been told and I just kind of turn it off.

Mostly that's not me. I'm all in and going to watch. But I don't really know how to feel. I wish I had the words to articulate exactly how I feel after watching all the events transpire over Saturday afternoon yesterday up until today.

I was working at the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday night. I was listening to the news and then we got there and they were like, hey, we got to move your cars in case protesters come here. And I was like, oh, wow, that's really when I first started to go, oh, well, this is turning a little crazier than I thought

because I had some friends that went to the protest here. And it was peaceful. And they came back and they said, hey, it was great. People had masks on. People were standing together. They felt very unified, but it was when it started to get a little darker or when things got a little unsafe and nuttier. But, you know, I wrote on my Instagram

about how I grew up in a school that wasn't all white people. It is white people and black people. That's about it. But, you know, our athletic teams would go to other schools, and everywhere we would go, for the most part, you would have people yelling racial slurs at our team. Now, not at me. I was a white guy.

But even on the field, they would get on. They wouldn't know us. And they would just yell the N-word at the players on my team. And I just remember it going, God dang, man, we don't even know them. and they're already assigning a negative thought on this person, who is my teammate and my friend, based on something they had no control over whatsoever.

And also, I was always confused at how someone would feel superior based on something they had no control over. Meaning, how can you feel that someone is lesser than you when you were just born into that skin, both of you? I never understood that. But I wrote out that on Instagram yesterday, and it's something that's never left me, obviously. But I also realized, too,

that I don't know what it feels like to have my skin color used against me. I can try to empathize. I can't really empathize. I can try to sympathize. I have no idea. And that's why I think these protests, that's why I think that the reason they're happening

is a really wonderful and beautiful thing. You're up. I heard you take a breath. I know. I take a breath because I'm just so, I'm processing so much as a white, privileged mom of two kids that will have very different experiences than me. Well, for our new listeners,

Amy has two black children, by the way. Yes. I adopted two kids from Haiti. And that's been, ever since we've been open to interracial adoption, I don't know, going back 10 years ago. We took special training where we were told this was going to be a thing we needed to be prepared for. And, you know, I sat with that and I knew it's something we had to prepare our kids for, but they've been here two years. And honestly, we've just had small little conversations. But this has opened up the door to where it's time.

I've got a nine-year-old son and a 13-year-old daughter, and it's time to have those real conversations. And, yeah, I don't feel as equipped as I want to, but I'm open to learning. And I'm this, everything the past several days has made me realize, like, I have a lot of work to do. and I need I have to take it seriously and and know that I need to I like you said Bobby we won't know how anybody else is feeling we'll never know how it feels but I want to stand with the people that are feeling that and I want to empathize and I want to be there and I want to be educated and I want to unlearn some stuff and I I want to be better and I think that that's what this is is showing us is is we can stand up for what's right and hopefully in a peaceful manner.

Yeah. So, you know, they're never, and I said this yesterday, there aren't ever the right words to say. So people can pick apart everything we just said. And they will. And that's fine with us. You know, we come on and try to share our emotions. When we have them and why we have them,

and we try to share them with you in the most honest way. and then we go from there. And it was a real eye-opening weekend. I think one of the most eye-opening weekends that I've ever seen. Right, because we've been here before. Yeah. But something is different this time.

And for the better. And we, for me personally, I feel it more than ever towards my kids. Like I said, I've known it for 10 years of what I was going to need to do if I had black children as a parent. but I'm the first to admit, like I have kind of just put it in my back pocket. And after this weekend, whatever it is, something's different, and I have to be different,

and I have to be better, and I'm going to be. And I grew up in a town of, you know, about 750 people, and half the town's white, half the town's black. There's a railroad track that still separates, for the most part, to this day, the two communities. and so I've been very close to seeing discrimination, but I've never been the victim of it, and there's absolutely a difference. I've seen enough to upset and irritate me,

but I've never had it happen to me to where at my core it's affected me. And so my goal is to be as closely and closer, to be as closely touch as I possibly can, because I'll never feel, I just will never feel it. I can't. And that's what sucks. I wish, you know, sometimes you wish it could take the pain.

Oh, yeah. I've thought that this weekend of anything that, and even future pain, because I know it will happen. Like I look at Stevenson, I look at Stashear, and I'm like, oh, I want to, because right now there's so much innocence with them, even understanding what is happening. And I know that down the line, I even think about how some people treat him now.

Well, I speak Stevens in particular because he's nine and he's so cute and he's, yeah, and we adopted him and blah, blah, blah. And there are certain people that look at him and think, oh, so cute. And then in my mind, I'm like, okay, well, what about when he's 18? What about when he's 21? What about when he's walking down the street by himself and look suspicious? You think he's so cute then? Like, I don't know.

I want to take that pain away from what he may. may experience in the future, but if we start little by little where there needs to be changed, then maybe his future doesn't have to be as bad as it is for some people today. Well, we shall now do a radio show. Yes, let's do it. And we also know that you don't come to us for macro social change. However, you do come to us to be humans. You know, we don't do the best radio show. We feel like we do a really good human show. And so that's what we're going to do. So we're going to have fun today. I think that's what a lot of folks come for. Listen, let's also not forget, we're in the middle of a pandemic too. There's a lot of stuff happening. We're here to do all of those things,

much like you will live your day today with some happiness and sadness and anger. And that's what this next five hours is going to be because that's what we do here. We try to live our lives. Oh, we use it for all kinds of things. My kids love salmon in the air fryer. And what's great is you can pick it up and I can take it outside on the patio and plug it in and put the salmon in the air fryer and it cooks out there so that way your kitchen doesn't smell like salmon. Boom. And she explained to me there's no grease. It's just hot air.

Yeah. You don't, you can, it's up to you if you want to add. add any oil or spray or anything, but you don't have to. So, yeah, no, I just put season the salmon a little bit, put it in there. Or, yeah, we do sweet potato fries or regular potatoes. We do broccoli, which my kids like it a little burnt. Yeah, you know what? She did kale.

She made kale chips. And I was like, who wants a kale chip? And then I ate it. It's pretty good. They put a little oil on there. Eddie, have anything? Mine's just an app, and I know it sounds simple, but it's really important right now. It's a weather app and it's a live weather radar.

So the way the weather people have been kind of messing up the weather lately in our town, I had to get this app. And now, Bones, I can tell you where this storm is coming from, when it's going to get here, all because of my weather app. It's legit. Talking about a lot of what happened this weekend.

If you want to go check the podcast and kind of hear that, it was a little raw, honestly. I think we all had a lot of emotions after seeing what was happening this weekend. Amy, I was wondering about you. You have two children. How did that go with them or do they see any of it? How did you handle that?

They didn't on the news, but it came up at church yesterday. So our pastor led with it. and just, you know, it instantly, I didn't know what the kids were going to do. Obviously, it's a conversation we have to have with the kids anyways. But Ben and I, my husband, were trying to be super thoughtful in how we go about it because we're white and our kids are black. And we have privileges that our kids will never have. And that's been known to us for years. I mean, we had to do adoption training.

Our friend Charlemagne was very candid. with us, he even came on the Bobby Bone Show and was like, hey, listen, like, this is a real thing. Like, you need to make sure that you are all hands on deck with this. And, you know, we've had the kids for two years. And to be totally honest, I have not, I have, I've kind of been avoiding that because I was like, well, they're younger. We'll address it later. But yeah, they're going to start seeing things on the news, but also at church where, you know, maybe they wouldn't necessarily be exposed to certain conversations, but I think we're at a place where like you can't ignore anything. And they started asking questions right away. Church is on YouTube live. So we were

able to pause it. And that's what we had to do a couple of times was pause and take their questions. And, you know, once we started to explain some stuff to them of what's going on and how they will get treated differently, Stevenson, my son, just said, wait a second. And he put his hands in the air with like this great proclamation. And he's like, this doesn't make sense to me. God made us all the same. And then he just looked at us for an answer and to an answer to his confusion. And, you know, I just like, God, he's so right. And the, how. pure he is as a child and how I want that to be the case, that everybody sees that, yeah, we really are all the same. It just, it broke my heart right away for him. Like I instantly,

I had to leave the room to go to the back, like tears were there, but I didn't want him to see me crying to cause even more conversation around that. But it's, it's a real thing and it's a real thing in my house because, yes, my kids are black. But I would challenge listeners no matter what ethnicity of house that you're in like the conversation starts at home and I feel like as parents we have such a responsibility to make sure that we're we're fully educated and I come to a place where I have so much learning to do I mean this weekend I ordered all the books and started following certain accounts on Instagram I started unfollowing certain accounts on Instagram I started cleaning up where am I getting my information and then how do I want to translate that to my family and that's where that's where it

starts is in the home and I get that not everybody has the opportunity to have people speak into their lives at home but if you're a parent listening like me and you do have an opportunity to speak into your kids like start talking to them about what really matters and it's not a conversation of we don't see color or we're not we're not racist we don't see color because that's not the way to teach it because the truth is we do see color and my kids will get treated very differently than me because they are black and i am white and i can't ignore that fact and so in our house we're really we took a long hard look this weekend of how we want to be and it's like okay whoa like and this is new to us i'm not coming to as an expert i'm coming to as someone that is showing you it's never too late to

learn ever ever i say that at 39 years old i feel that at 39 years old i feel that like I'm going to go into my 40s, wiser than I ever was before. And Bobby even shared this earlier this morning of like, we'll never know what it feels like for what black people feel or insert any other race. Like I feel I'm a privileged white girl. And I don't know what it feels like. I don't know what Stasheera's going to feel like when she grows up. I even, she had such confusion after church. and she's 13 and I thought, oh, and I don't know what Stevenson's going to experience, and I want to protect them from that. But the best thing I can do is their parent is to do better, starting now, educate myself,

and be a voice and an encouragement to others that it's never too late to unlearn something that you've been taught that might be wrong or to continue to take steps in the right direction to be better and look at what it means to be anti-racist versus just not racist. I'm not racist. Like, what is that, what does it look like? And that's my challenge to any parents that are listening. And that's what I feel in my heart is my role as a mom and as a co-host on this show right now. That's very powerful. I think, no, I love it. Are you kidding? That's what we do. Like I mentioned earlier, we don't do a great radio show. show. We tried to do a really good human show. And at times that's going to be a bit sloppy like it is now. And you're going to hear and feel raw emotions like you're hearing now. I think for me,

as someone who grew up in a town that was split, you know, mentioned it earlier, black guys, white guys, we played on the same football team. You know, they were my best friends. And then we would go play another school. We'd be all white kids. And they would just throw the word out like crazy. And that's when I realized I would never understand. But even for me, instead of unlearning things, I have to relearn things, right? Right. I have to relearn and reset myself and remember a lot of those thoughts. As I, again, I had light exposure, not living it.

I didn't live it. I'll never know. I'll never know. But, you know, even asking people who do know to communicate their feelings to you, that is a big step. And also, stop assuming that you know. Because a lot of people, you don't, I don't. I don't, but I think that what's happening, the reason, the message, it's resonating like never before.

Mm-hmm. And I'm absolutely here for it. That's what's so powerful to me is something just feels different and I hope that, well, no, I hope that, but also I see it. Like it's just, it's almost, it's undeniable. So, yeah, it's just, it's just not enough. to and I want to clarify too. I don't mean any harm by saying if you tell your kids, I feel like to not see color because I feel like a lot of us were raised that way. And I just want us to have a lot of grace for each other. That wasn't me calling anybody out. Like that's not a good

way to parent. Like because, you know, again, I'm not on a high horse here. I'm just saying we have to teach our kids to see color so that they know there is a difference and that there is inequality. Because if you just kind of think, oh, well, or if you raise your kids to think that there is no color, and I get the sentiment behind that. Like, I understand why that's a safe way to talk to your kids about it. But we also need to be very real about it. And in order to ignite the change, you have to be honest with that. We do see color. I think the sentiment is that we should treat everybody the same. But just looking at it practically, the pragmatic approach is that even if you're treating them the same, not everybody else is too.

It can be whomever it is. And for whatever reason. But right now we're talking about what's happening in our world with race relations. Right. Yeah. It's ignoring the fact that someone was treated a certain way or multiple people. Like, yes, there are certain names in the news right now or that's like drawn a lot of the attention. But there's so many people that don't even ever make the news or maybe it wasn't even filmed on body cams.

Like, you know, Will Smith put out a statement too. he's like, racism isn't getting worse. Racism is getting filmed. Right. And so there's so many accounts where we don't even know. And yeah, it happened to them because someone saw color. Someone saw. So we can't ignore the fact that people should just not see color.

And it's just, it's sad. I want better for my kids. I want better for the future. I want better for, and it could start now. And so I think it's, I'm glad we're having. the conversation and I appreciate you, Bobby, leading us in that here on the show. And I know what kind of people we are. And I hope our listeners know that. And I hope that we just, we have a lot of patience and grace and understanding that a lot of people are, if they're feeling what we're feeling

right now, the shift, that they will take action and that we can all do better. But don't judge another person from where they are in their journey. And have understanding that you don't have to understand, you just have to crawl forward. Right. And some of us are one step at a time. Some people are able to make a leap and be like, oh, okay, I'm here. And then others may be taking a step. Well, okay, let's congratulate them on that step in the right direction. I guess I just want clarity for our listeners of where we stand and we we stand on the right side of justice like for sure we want justice for people but we're all doing things and make speak about things in our in our own time and we shouldn't be faulted for but again

you know you even had to clarify earlier like I'm not I don't want to in any way come across as any kind of victim because of things people might be saying to us online um that's not the case I just want people to have grace. I want people to also feel like they can start expressing themselves whenever they want without feeling pressure to do it too slow, too early, too late. Just do it when you want to do it and don't worry about what anybody else is saying. Right. That's what we've had to do. Exactly. So don't worry about it. You express yourself, how you want to express yourself. The only person you have to see every day for sure is you. Is you. It's you. It's you. So well. And then it gives people the courage if you don't judge them because like I stand before you. You,

right now as someone who speaks on the radio five days a week. Well, I guess some weekends too. And like to talk about this, like I'm, and I'm sitting here like I'm talking to Bobby, one of my best friends who I've been across the microphone from for 14 years, but I'm shaking. And I'm like, why should I be shaking talking to my friends in a platform that is safe for me? Like I don't feel safe because of judgment of like me being a white mom and raising black kids and not really knowing the right way to do it and what I'm doing or that I didn't do something soon enough. I mean, come on. The point is that I feel at this point if you're an old listener or whether you're a new listener, you need to know our heart and that it's in the right place. And we're all doing our best.

Hopefully you saw it, but a SpaceX spacecraft carrying two NASA astronauts went to outer space on Saturday making it the first time that humans have traveled into Earth's orbit from U.S. soil in nearly a decade.

Yeah, it was crazy. I watched three things over the weekend. One of it was the SpaceX launch, which you said nine years, right? Is that the number you said? I said nearly a decade. Yeah. So first time in nine years, but you got to think, too, it's a private company that did this. Got you.

Shout out Elon Musk. Elon Musk who did it. I watched that. I didn't watch a lot of TV, but I watched the Peloton races. Did you see that on ESPN by any chance? I did not, no. Where they had six athletes racing out of Peloton for 20 minutes with their scores up on the screen. And you would think it would be so boring and you'd be right.

But I watched it. And then I watched just a lot of the riot stuff, a lot of the protests that turned into the riot stuff. That was basically all my TV for the past few days. But the highlight was the SpaceX because you saw like genuine happiness from people. Oh, yeah. I mean, my kids, like we had the family gathered around the TV. And they, I mean, it was the first time they'd ever seen anything like it.

And it was really, really cool to see Stevenson be able to witness that. And he was not, he was doing the countdown. Like he was ready at 19 minutes. He's like, Mom, Dad. get in here. We have 19 minutes, but I still think he's confused on what is 19 minutes, you know, a second or is it 20 minutes. That's funny. All right, what else? We didn't miss a thing. So, well, speaking of sports, I guess you won't have to really watch athletes race it out on Peloton on ESPN because I think sports are making a comeback. The NBA wants to start up in late July. The NHL announced that the playoff tournament may happen in the summer. And then baseball is hoping. hoping to make a deal with players today. And then the NFL is opening training facilities.

They're all working toward getting back in a substitute capacity, I would say. So, yes. But I was to probably watch Peloton races again. I'm just saying. All right, what else? I think I kind of would, too. So could you imagine going to a restaurant? Like you and Caitlin, you go on a date and you're having a nice time,

but you're each sitting at the table underneath your individual plastic cone? Imagine. I dream about that. I've dreamed about that for years. Yeah, well, a restaurant is testing out plastic shield pods that would keep diners safe during coronavirus. And so pretty much your space is protected and you're out to eat with, you know, your girlfriend like Bobby or maybe your family or your friends. But nobody's germs are spread through the cone. It looks like an upside-down wine glasses on them for the visual.

and the woman's engagement ring came off of her hand, and they lost it. And it was $3,500. They were playing volleyball, ring went flying. They couldn't find it. Well, luckily, this guy, Paul was nearby metal detecting, and we saw them looking for the ring.

he said, hey, I can help you out. And his metal detector found the ring. Dang. You know when his metal detector went over, they got the first and they were like, oh, is this it? Or they probably got a couple false alarms. Because that thing, that finds nickels and bottle caps. Oh, yeah, for sure.

That's good for Paul. That's his name, right, Paul? Yep, Paul. Yeah, Paul with the metal. Somebody went to Amy's house and found her ring with a metal detector, right? Yeah, me. I did. I went to some supply store,

and they had metal detectors that you could rent for. the day and I took it to my own yard and used it and found my ring myself. That Amy lost, it fell off her hand when it was snowing. She flew across the country back to Austin. Like two months later, she went back because she wasn't home all that time and found her ring in her yard. Yep. Both of those are good news.

And my husband didn't think touching all the blueberries was appropriate during a pandemic. However, I don't want to just grab any card in a blueberry. blueberries. I mean, they're expensive, and I only like the firm blueberries. What are your thoughts on this? It's a fair question. I'm going to say that you should check the blueberries. Just wash your hands. It's not like you're licking the blueberries. You know, you're not taste testing them all. You don't have your tongue out, you know, testing the firmness with your tongue. I would say you can check the firmness of them as long as you wash your hands and make sure that if anything were on the blueberries, it wouldn't be on the blueberries anymore. It wouldn't be on your hands. Ami your thoughts? Yeah, I wash all my fruit anyways. Like, I'm assuming a bunch of hands have already touched the blueberries.

So touch away. I get it. Like, my kids don't want to eat mushy ones either. So I want to make sure they're firm. I would say that your husband absolutely has good intentions and he's worried about you and worried about your family. But you're probably touching a lot of stuff. As long as you wash your hands after you touch things, blueberries included, you're going to be fine.

Well, Kailen's back at the house. She spent two, three days traveling. You know, she flew back to California to get her stuff. And she's obviously moving to Nashville full-time. And 30 hours in the car in two days is what she did? Oh, my gosh. So she flew over, packed her stuff up. She landed at like 4 p.m., packed her stuff up, left at 5 a.m. the next morning,

drove 16 hours, her and a friend. She was exhausted. She could barely see straight by the time they were in Amarillo. So shout out to Amarillo. And then they slept like six hours and drove another 14 or so. Crazy. And got in really late Saturday night. But she's here.

All of her stuff's in the car still. We haven't budged it. Her car's in the garage. I know. I sent her a note and I was like, welcome home, winky face. Because it's her new home. That's so crazy. Because before coronavirus, it was like not her home.

And then now after that and then her graduating or from getting her master's in case you're a new list. Yeah, yeah. She's not 22. It's almost 30 years old. But she went back and got her master's. Yeah. Right. So like just so much has happened.

And her life has totally changed in two months. Yeah, me too. But hers. Yeah. Her's me. Yeah, because she moved. I'm trying to explain to her how it's the same for both of us. No, it's not.

I'm trying to explain to her, though, how it's the same for both of us. Mm-mm. Oh, all right. All right, all right. So she's here. Very exciting. Yeah, like I say that completely without any sort of restriction in my neck or face. Like, I'm very excited about her being here.

No chest restriction. No, like, oh, boy. It's like, let's go. Well, you don't make decisions lightly. So obviously, If this is where you landed with her, like, yeah, I wouldn't see you being nervous about it. Yeah, for the new folks that listen to this show, I've never lived with a girl. It's not like a girl, like I'm 15.

A woman. Yeah, I've never, but I've never done that. A lady. She's a lady. A lot of us stressed out right now. Stressful time for sure. For so many reasons right now. Holy man.

They say if you're dealing with chronic stress, researchers say you can, avoid pills. If you just, every single day, jog, bleh, I do not like running. But when you run, now we're talking about the science of it, you release endorphins, and that puts you in a good mood and helps you feel better. After running, participants reported feeling more at ease and relaxed. It also helps your mind sift through important and non-essential information, naturally de-stressing you. But I do think I'm going to get running a little bit, and I do not like it. I did see that And we talked about Brett Eldridge. And Brett and I are good friends off the air too.

And he's like, man, I'm training for this half marathon. I was like, oh, yeah. And so we just talked about it a few times. And I was like, why are you running this? He goes, well, I'm running it by myself, virtually. Virtually, yeah. But he raised a bunch of money for mental health awareness as he did it. Yeah.

I thought that's pretty cool. He does not like running either. But yeah, big shout out to Brett Eldridge for doing that. I thought that's pretty cool. Does it say anything about power walking? It doesn't. It didn't make the list, but... With two pound weights, I like that. Yeah, maybe...

On an incline? Watch some TV. Like for me, you know, I mentioned over the weekend. I didn't watch a lot of stuff, but I did watch one episode of Space Force, the new Steve Curl show on Netflix. Oh, was it good? I saw the, like, an ad came up for me, but... It has potential.

I think people are wanting it to be the office part two, and it's not. I could see where some people wouldn't like it at all. I think I like it. but I've only seen one episode. Of course. He's your... I do love Steve Carroll. Yeah.

But I think it's written pretty funny. Mike, what's Space Force on Rotten Tomatoes? Oh, let me see. What did you watch? Anything new this weekend? I started defending Jacob. How was that? It was really good.

So they grab someone's boot and started trying to get the water out.

That wasn't working. Before they knew it, the boat was filled with water and going down. So she looks at her dad, and her dad's in shock holding on the boat. So Kiana starts thinking, you know what? I got to think fast. She jumps off the boat and swims 600 yards to. shore and she luckily finds a game warden who's off duty just hanging

out and he has access to a boat he says, I can help you. They get the boat and they go back to the sinking boat and save her dad and her sister. Wow. I mean, risky. Risky for her to jump out but she made the right decision. 600 yards. That is a long way. Dang.

And everybody's safe. Everybody's safe. Everyone's safe and every yes. It was a great story to tell everyone after the fact. All right, there you go. That's what it's all about. That was tell me something good. Our audio producer, Ramundo, is getting married in October.

because it's not good. Everybody did the drum roll. I know. Here's the thing. I start shooting my Nat Geo TV show like a week and a half after your bachelor party. I have too many people

depending on me to not get sick. I was leaning toward going. I think that would be selfish of me to go because I have a whole crew depending on me. And then I called Eddie to see what Eddie wanted to do

because Eddie could talk me into it and Eddie said, I don't know if I could go either. So are we both saying it, Eddie? Yeah, we're both saying it. We're not going to be able to make that trip. We can't go on that trip, Ramundo. Well, I already knew Eddie was leaning that direction

because every time we're in the studio just guying it up and just, you know, Jim talk. And he tells me that, I don't know, him hauling around dragging his feet. So you are a little shocking to me. I had no idea this was coming, but I do have other friends. I'm a pretty popular guy.

We're going to miss you guys. We really are. But I am actually glad you guys told me. me up front because we're starting to do hotel rooms and like stuff's starting to shape up. Well, so which is where I wanted to lean into the good news part of it is that I am willing for, we can't do more than two. What's the city rule, Amy, on people who can get together? 10. Oh, is it? He turned 67 years old today. Here's the clip of Brooks and Dunn. Now three things you may not know about Ronnie Dunn.

Number one, he originally wanted to be a Baptist minister. He went to Abilene Christian University. He attended the Bible College and he was asked to leave because he's performing at local bars. Number two. He won a talent competition that brought him to Nashville. He won a regional competition in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and travel to Nashville for nationals. He and his band performed songs in front of a panel of judges,

and the judges were Johnny Cash and June Carter, and they won. Wow. How about that? That's amazing. As champions, they joined Merle Haggard and Alabama on tour and received a recording session with Hank Williams Jr., where he met producer Scott Hendricks. Scott Hendricks recommended Dunn's recordings to Tim Dubois,

who then on and on. But how about that? That's how it all started there. Crazy. And then number one, excuse me, number three, he has a system to remember lyrics on stage while performing live. I've seen him do it with my own eyes.

He performed with us and saw him do it. But Ronnie told us in a recent interview that he doesn't remember every word to every song, but he has someone stand on the side of the stage with a microphone and they talk the lyrics to him a split second before he's supposed to say them. Here's Ronnie talking about that with us on this show. Well, everybody uses some kind of reference

like a monitor or that, but Melanie talks in my ear. It you'll cue it. No, we have a whole system set up, and you kind of have to learn it. It's like you'll cue the first word before the beat, and it just comes second nature after doing it for so long.

You don't even think about it. People go, well, that's really distracting. It's like, no, it's not. No, it's not, no. There you go. Happy birthday, Ronnie. Let's go over to Eddie. What do you have a music school today for us?

So, Bones, on this day in 1992, Billy Ray Cyrus's achy-breaky heart goes number one. And this song, I've mentioned it before, was a cover of a song by the Marcy Brothers called Don't Tell My Heart. And here's a clip of that. Don't tell my heart. My achy-breaking heart. I just don't think he understand.

And you can hear that. They changed Aiken Breakin' Break into Aiky-Brake. Right, right. That was the big difference. But they weren't the only band. Billy Ray wasn't the only person to cover this song. Also, the Chipmunks covered Don't Tell My Heart, My Ake-Brakey Heart. Here's a version of that.

Well, to be fair, they covered Ake-Brake-E-Hart, not Ake-N-Brake-Hart. Heart. Right. They covered Billy Ray Cyrus's version. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But this song was so big, of course, that back then it was a crossover to top 40. It was huge. We all knew it, and the song is just awesome. I remember going down to Parthina's restaurant and store, because in Mountain Pine, we had one little store, but it had everything, a restaurant, a store, and they had an Akey, Break Your Heart T-shirt. They had hang, and one day I wanted to save up, it was like $14. Wait, we didn't have Billy Ray on it? What was the picture? It just said, Akey, Break Your Heart with a broken heart on it.

Oh, come on. And I was saving up to get it and someone bought it. I went in one day and I'm finally going to get it. I went and it was gone. Oh. Yeah. My heart was broken. Okay.

We still did a couple things that were very showy and fun and goofy, but we spent a lot of time, as you just heard, talking about what happened over the weekend, but I have a couple things that didn't get to. Dogs understand emotions behind human facial expressions, and they get stressed out by bad moods. I'm going to tell you from personal experience, my dog doesn't give a crap about my facial expression. My dog doesn't give a crap about anything. He is a English bulldog. he is getting a little calmer,

although here's the thing that he like still is obsessed with. It's human feet not in socks. So if you have an empty foot, he likes that. He's going to try to eat it. You're going to try to chew on it. Eddie, did you come to the house in flip-flops? Of course. For some reason, I always come to the house and flip-flops.

Did he go after your feet? Yes, he did. Yeah. Loves the feet. That's all he cares about. But a new study finds that dogs can read the emotions tied to their owner's mood. and a bad move can cause their heart rates to spike. If a person appears angry or frightened dogs will turn their heads to the left,

if the owner reveals a look of surprise or shock, a dog is more prone to look to the right. Oh, wow. My dog doesn't do any of this. He doesn't. And he does always have like a blank face, like, hmm? It's just the face that he was built with. He just always looks sad or bored.

He's always like, duh. I wonder if underneath all that skin, he's like, hey, yeah, man, let me get in there. I'm having so much fun. He's looking to the right. You just can't see it because he has a bunch of skin. So much skin. Yeah.

But this thing is just nonstop comedy. He's so good. I mean, he's so witty bones. Like, he's really one of the best, the best comedians, like I've ever seen in my life. Mike, did you watch it? I haven't seen it now. Okay.

I watched the first 20 minutes of it. Not this weekend. I watched it when it came out. I guess it went to come out. I guess too like I'm older, you know? And I feel like we both came out of the 90s and like we're both married. We had kids.

So I related a lot. I thought you meant me. I was like, wait, what? No, me and Jerry. So I loved it. I will give it four and a half Kramer's out of five. Oh, wow. With that, huh?

I saw the first 20 minutes of it. I give it three out of five Kastanzas, but I only saw the first 20 minutes. Why did you stop watching it? I got kind of bored. Oh, no. But you really have to be in a good place to watch a stand-up special.

Correct. Like, you have to be willing to dedicate the time, you know? Yes. Okay. Man, I laughed. I snorted sometimes, like laughing. You did?
