oh, don't tell so-and-so I said that, whether it's Amy referring to her kids or Bobby referring to Caitlin. So it made me wonder, do any of y'all, families listen to the show whether it's live or podcast do they listen? Just wondering I think it's a great question the answer is no, Caitlin doesn't listen

she will on Instagram because she follows the show account sometimes she'll hit that button that makes it talk out loud over your phone because you know Instagram's quiet but you have to push it every once in a while if she's something she'll hit it and be like huh but what I mostly mean by don't tell Caitlin is stop DMing her about stuff I say because that gets me in trouble

yeah because I know she's not going to listen to this like she doesn't Every day she tells me this. Why don't I want to go listen to the show? I get the show on my life every day. And she's true. But not all. No, she's more like, oh.

I don't think she means it like in a good way. I think good and bad. She's like, I had like, you do that for five hours. I get like the other 19 hours. So I don't need to go and chase that. And she's also listening to the morning toast and Jamie Kennedy. Yeah, she's other things she likes to listen to. So she does not listen to the show, but she will sometimes hit it on Instagram.

If it pops up in her feed. Your family? I mean, I think that occasionally my husband will listen the podcast, but I don't think he really listens live. I mean, my parents, when they were alive, they were probably the biggest listeners. Like, my dad would, like, go to a coffee shop with his eye heart app open, no headphones, blasting the show. I know. That's my daughter. Exactly.

It was so embarrassing. So I don't think they missed an episode or what do we do. Is that what it's called? An episode? A show. I think we just show up. Whatever. Like, he didn't.

Like he didn't miss it. But yeah, other than that, my kids, they don't listen. They don't care less. During the school year, they listen. But summertime, no, there's not really. Lunchbox? My wife will listen whenever she's taking the kids to daycare. So that's like a 15-minute drive there and 15-minute drive back.

So if she'll heal 30 minutes of the show and she will comment on things. But, you know. Ever get in trouble? No, because I wear the pants. She can't get in trouble. Well, I mean, if the question is you've ever gotten in trouble, the answer. No, that's not the question.

No, that's not the question. Oh, because, yeah, me too. I didn't trouble too because people DM or Caitlin. Stop DM or Caitlin. Yeah. I mean, that's normally how it's like phone call. Like there's been times where, yeah, no, my husband wasn't listening. He'd be like in Afghanistan and someone would call him and tell him something that I said.

And I'm like, oh my gosh. You're like, you thought it was safe. You could say whatever. He's in Afghanistan. I mean, come on. It is almost time for the weekend, friends. Hope you guys are having a good Friday. Let's go over now and open up the mailbag.

Oh, that's cool. I'm not just making that up. Hello. Good morning, Bobby Bones. I need some advice in regards to my dating life. Let me preface by saying that I'm 24. I graduated high school six years ago. A few days ago, I received a message from one of my high school teachers

that I happened to befriend on Facebook a couple years ago. We've never talked up to this point, but he sent me a message asking if we could go for drink sometime. Oh. My immediate reaction was to freak out and think it was super weird that one of my old teachers was interested in me. However, after giving it more thought, I realized he's 31. He's not bad looking.

he was a good teacher but I obviously never thought of him that way also I'm friends with a lot of my high school friends so I'm a little nervous about what might happen if they found out I was on a date with one of our teachers just wondering if I should go for it or pass signed Stephanie

let's talk about the age thing first 31 and 24 I'm fine with that yeah totally fine I'm not bad I got no issue with that at all let's talk about former student and teacher thing definitely weird hits weird but is it so weird you don't do it because again been at a high school six years

so yes it all feels weird right yeah yeah so like yeah i have questions about like if he when she was 17 16 and in high school was he like oh man okay i'm gonna wait till she's 24 i would think no because she didn't say anything about that in this email okay nothing about all she said we can just base our responses off the email is that she remembers to mean a good teacher never a teacher that was like flirty or creepy i don't think if the teacher was flirty or creepy,

she would give him a shot now. Okay. Wish we could talk to the teacher, though, because I want to know what he was thinking. I'm glad you said that. Bring him up. Here he is. Mr. Go for it or pass.

I mean, if you're interested in him, then I say a date isn't going to hurt, see where it could go. Love is love, man. Just try it out. You know, if it works, it works. Okay, so it is weird, though.

We're all agreeing it's weird. Totally weird. And if you were 20, I would say no. No. No. But you're 24. You've been out of school six years. He's, I think you go and see if some of that weirdness falls away.

If it doesn't, then you can't do it anymore. But I'm okay with one date. So like if they're on a date and he starts saying, remember when you were in class that time? Remember that 83? No. Yes, that's weird. Those are the signs you're looking for? I think it's, can you go out with him and within the first three quarters of the date

that teacher-student relationship falls away. If it does, I think, and you like them, I think you continue. If it just feels like that's Mr. Wilson from Homek, even after you're done, you can't. But I see no problem with that date. Yeah, and it doesn't always have to be your narrative. Like the story, I don't know, maybe it does. I mean, I guess it's going to be like, so how'd you'll meet?

Well, I taught her in high school. To be fair, he was 25. Yeah, on the younger spectrum. So young, yeah. Yeah, a young teacher. Here are my, the things I think. As long as there was no creepiness when you were in high school, because if he was creepy toward you, he was creepy toward other people.

It doesn't sound like that's the case here, right? Also, you're good with the age. Yep, you're going to have to explain it to your friends for a bit. But all that stuff goes away after a while. That's true. Like, you just have to tell him once. It would be like, oh, my goodness. And then the first time they meet up with them,

that's going to be a little weird. But all that goes away. Again, he's not 51 years old. He's 31. So I encourage you to go out on a date once I mean didn't your friend Monica date Tom Selleck? Well my friend was her eye doctor Oh yeah

Not a teacher yeah that's a little different And they were both like adult adults Well I guess he did His name wasn't Tom Selleck on the show True Okay we're uniform in this right We all say yes a date Yeah give a shot

You know, I spent a few days this week in California. I did that talk show of The Talk. which I mentioned I didn't know it's so controversial I didn't ever put together all the Sharon Osborne

all the I mean not that I care but I just saw it as hey that'd be fun to go do make some new friends I can promote Breaking Bobby Bones promote the radio show man I was getting some heat

people like I'll never watch that show I'm like why what happened I wasn't even mad I was like what tell me I was like what happened

what am I doing wrong here they were fantastic to me they were just lovely lovely people and I think everybody I don't know but I love love doing that show is fun. I'm more of a I get to pick what we talk about kind of guy, which that's not what happens. There are you just going to go. And you have to like fight for air

because there are five people sitting there and you got like three minutes talking about something. And I'm just sitting there ready to pounce. I'm like one of those nature shows where the cheetah's ready to pounce as the baby deer runs by. And I'm waiting for just a split second to jump because I got a lot to say about everything. But they were fantastic. And like show three, I see Ramundo on Instagram going, all right, let's see if we can get bones to say this stuff on the show and he's calling them hipster words and one of the words was like Gucci Ray do you remember the words you wanted me to say all of them

Yeah so it was Gucci No Cap, Clapback Chuggy and Simp Okay so Gucci means cool Basically Simp is simple clapback is obviously back against somebody

Like you say something I clap back at you Chewgey's kind of douchey Okay Just trying to define the words for you old people in the room Thank you Yeah you're welcome And so I see the list and I look at it in a commercial break,

and I'm like, oh, I can do this. And so they bring up the topic of moving around. This kid, Lisa Marie Presley's kid, had to move around a bunch of schools because she moved around a lot. And she was like, ah, this is hard as a kid. And I said, yeah, it is hard. I did it all the time.

Because in my life, we got evicted from places. We got kicked out of apartments, had to move trailers. And so, but I knew that I could fit in the word clapback in the clip. Ray, do you have the clip? Yeah. All right, here you go. The positive part of this is I was having to acclimate myself over and over and develop skills that I have now.

You know, how do I be funny? How do I learn to clap back? How do I learn to thrive and say, I'm so grateful. Come on. I mean, did they look at you when you said clap back? No, it sounds like, okay, uh-huh. Everyday conversation. I was on it.

Ray, when I said that, did you laugh at loud? Dude, I was dying laughing. My nephew was watching live. He was so pumped that you actually said a 13-year-old hipster word. He was dying laughing that you actually did that. I kind of felt like I sold it, too. Yeah, you did for sure But I was like, is anybody like, did you just say clapback?

Like the people on the panel Like they're up there with I think they just believed it out kind of cool Yeah But when you hear it Because I was passionate When I think they're just like Oh, that's just a normal part of his vernacular

Only suffers a broken arm. Pulled the whole tree up. Yeah, pulled the whole tree up. I don't know if my adrenaline would allow me to be extra strong. I think mine would do the opposite. Like, oh, ha, ha, ha, ha. I don't know if I should. Wow, that's crazy.

You know, sometimes a car will be on someone and you'll see where they lifted it up. Yeah. Because of adrenaline. Multiple people. No, sometimes one. One person. Yes, you've heard those stories. I forget.

Apparently she hasn't. I don't know. I did see a story where a guy was parked over the line. And this guy who was a bodybuilder. or a weightlifter, because there are a difference. I believe he was a weightlifter. And so he went and he tried to unlock the door and the back door was open.

So he put the car, he put the car like on his shoulders is a small car and he lifted it with his legs and put it back in the spot so we got parked. Because the car was double parked. The car was over the line he couldn't pull his car in. That's funny. Was it like a little Mazda Miata? It was a small car, yes.

Yes, it was. But still, that's crazy. Yeah. But he was a power lifter and was able to do that. And obviously it was on TikTok because everything's not TikTok. Of course. Yeah, yeah. Okay.

It's just kind of similar things, not the actual speech. Steven Spielberg owns the speech, like, do I have a dream speech? He owns it? Yeah. Wow. That's crazy. He owns the movie rights to MLK's life story and all of his actual speeches. So just in movies, people can't do any of his real speeches.

I just don't wear the pants. hands up. Okay, well, I'll throw these out there. Okay, so are you typically the one to start discussions? Because if you are, you might be wearing the pants. I do not. Not uncomfortable discussions. You make the most decisions. We're pretty split on that. If, like, even when it comes down to like, where to eat, what to eat. She does not like to pick that stuff. I'll pick that stuff. But she travels a lot with me. She's like, because if I don't travel with you, I'll never see you. But then that's pretty split on that one. You control the money. Doesn't say here that you make the money, but you control it. She has her own. She uses her own. We're split on that one too. I use my own. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Well,

those are the three things you can evaluate if you're trying to assess who wears the pants. Well, we just assessed. We split on two and she won another, so she wears the pants. You know, I think that something that I've been thinking, well, learned recently, I don't know if I've shared it with you all, but like, you always hear like relationships are 50-50, but like you are 100% responsible for your 50%. I don't even think they're 50-50. I think what happens is you are your good percentage at what you are good at. Like, for example, when it comes to, we'll see picking where to eat.

I do that 90% of the time. That's 90% of the time. That's 90% of the time. She's 95% of that. She's 95% of that. So I don't think it's 50-50. Yeah, no, I think in that part, you're breaking it down into, yes, I think when it comes to that, you can like, data.

a day it may fluctuate what percentage you have to offer and give. But I just thought that was an interesting thing I'd throw out there since we're talking relationships. Okay, so health officials are having to tell people to stop spitting in public. Some states, including Kansas, Massachusetts, it's illegal to spit on the sidewalks in public. Does anybody here spit on the sidewalks when they're out on a run or a walk? Well, yeah, I mean, I don't go out with intention. I'm going to spit all over this joint. But if you have to spit, you'll do it. Yeah, of course. Okay. When I go out today, they're never seen spit like this before. That's what I say when I'm warming up.

It's also illegal in New York City, so make sure next time you're there, don't spit in public. I don't spit where people will be walking. If I'm jogging or working, I'll spit in the grass. I never thought about that. I don't think that's a big deal. Well, I thought even like... Don't spit loogies on the sidewalk. That's gross.

I think that you go to jail for that. I thought spitting stopped when we went through a pandemic. Like, you just kind of realized, like... We're back, baby. No. We're open back up. Speaking of that, because some people might still be getting their vaccine if they're going to get it and they're getting a shot. And a tip that I saw was that if you smile when you're getting a shot, it won't hurt as bad.

I don't believe that at all. Okay, well, I just thought it might. Someone might be going to get a shot today and just they can test it out. Smile while they're sticking it in. Wait a minute. Oh, boy. And there she goes. All right, what else you got?

Well, Garth Brooks is in the midst of his tour rehearsals and he decided to share with us of what we can expect from. his stadium tour. I'm so fired up and the stage is is all modified. It's all flat. 360 degrees. It's just really, really cool. So, it's going to be a lot of front row, going to be a lot of real up close and personal, which is

the only way to play music for me. That's the best way to sell a lot of front row tickets at a high price. Yeah. He gets smarter than all of us. He is smart. I didn't even think of that. To what? So Chunk is a three-year-old golden retriever that went missing. Like, he wasn't at his home for two weeks. His owners were frantic. They put up signs all around. Well, shout out to a couple of joggers that paid attention to these signs and saw a dog swimming in the bay. And they called police. They're like, hey, this dog that we saw swimming looks a lot like the dog in the missing

posters that we saw. So the police responded, they were able to rescue Chunk, they got one of the posters, returned Chunk home. He was covered in ticks, had lost about 20 pounds. It was all matted. But now he's safe and at home and going to be okay. Well, you know, that family is so relieved. I know. I mean, Ella runs out for 45 seconds.

We can't find her off where we live. And we're like, oh, my God, life's over. And then we get her back and we're like, ooh, can you imagine Chunk being gone for that long? No. And, like, I guess just it's also good to pay attention to little post. posters that you see up because you never know you might be the person that spots the missing pet. The missing pet thing hits me so hard because it's happened where Caitlin and I, if we see someone

has a pet, we'll go drive around on a purpose and look for it because we hope somebody would do that for us if Stanley or Elder was gone. All right, that's a good story. And now I'm going to have them get to the story in a second. Scoop Steve's the most interesting guy in the show. And we're talking about the story which led to it. There was a guy named Dylan McWilliams. He was attacked by a bear. Then later he was attacked by a shark. And they were talking about the odds of that happening. You know, both animals by themselves, impossible odds.

But together, that's like the power ball. That's the odds to be attacked by a shark and a bear. Yeah. Like they're like, this just isn't going to happen. And Scooby goes, yeah, my brother was attacked by a shark once. And I was like, wait, first of all, yeah. have a brother? Second of all, you got a tagline shirt.

What happened? So, yeah, I guess the interesting stories run through my family bloodline. We were surfing out Newsomer in a beach where we go pretty frequently growing up, which is kind of outside of Orlando. And we were surfing out there. He's much better than I am. He goes a little further out. And then we hear a bunch of screaming and yelling.

And we're like, what, you know, what's happening? And he goes, it's a shark! A shark! And I'm like, oh, my God. Well, let's swim in. And in that same moment, apparently the shark then came after him and latched on. to his leg and tore into his flesh and then he had to fight the shark off and he says allegedly he punched the shark in the nose which is eventually what led the shark to get off his legion.

He swam in and had a bunch of injuries to his calf like he's missing some skin. He's got like some torn ligaments but he survived. That's crazy. Lunchbox claims he was attacked by a shark once. We put him on a lie detector and they said that was a lie. I was off the coast of Georgia with my cousin. and a shark took a bite out of our paddleboat. So why would a shark, though, just bite a boat?

Why do sharks bite surfboards? I mean, you don't know. I mean, I never talked to the shark. I couldn't interview him. He didn't stick around. You know, he didn't want to be on the media. He just, he fled. But on the media.

He bit the paddle boat, and that's, I mean, that's what happened. I mean, believe it if you don't. I mean, whatever. Believe it if you don't. All the phrases are off. My favorite meal, and I may have it twice a year. Chicken fried steak with white gravy, I like to have some fried okra, mashed potatoes. I also like white gravy on those mashed potatoes, some corn.

Like that to me, growing up in the South, that's my meal. A new study shows that eating a Southern-style diet increases your risk of sudden cardiac death by almost 50%. Because all that stuff gets in your heart. Yeah. All that stuff I just listed, I like to have that every night. I would eat that every night if I could. And they directly go after the south here, and I'm offended. Why are they going after our southern foods here?

Your favorite meal, if you get one, eight. Mexican. Yeah? Yeah. I just need, like, chips, salsa, queso, like, I don't care, whatever. Rice, beans, sour cream, mix it all up, guacamole. I'm good. I just want a big plate full of Mexican food.

Beef fajitas. And then you have the chips and queso, the salsa, the margarita. Oh, my gosh. I mean, it's mostly how we all grew up, right? I grew up in the South, pretty deep South. That's mine. Amy and Lunchbox grew up in Texas. Yeah.

So because you were coming in, I went to my closet and I got my Amy Grant

shirt out. You really had that in your closet. Oh, I've had this for years. Okay. What, what year is this shirt from? 1994. Really? How do you remember that? What's this saying on the back? Is there a tour on the back? Yeah. Yeah. This, I buy so few clothes. Like, I can look at a photograph and go, oh yeah, it's that shirt. That's 87. Oh, yeah. And my kids are the same way. We're just like zero in the, in the shopping department. Yep, 1994. We were talking about you the other day on the show, because you're going back out on tour. And you're celebrating, was it 30 years? Yeah.

I mean, does that seem like yesterday or does it seem like forever ago that this record came out and changed your life? It feels like both. It feels like honestly lifetimes ago, you know? Like somebody will say, tell me a memory from that tour. And I'll go, well, you tell me something

what happened to you when you were 25, you know? But it was, the thing I remember most from that tour is I had two young kids, one and a half and a three and a half year old. And so I have three nephews that were born when I was in high school. And so they were like 13, 14. And I said, we're traveling across the country. Come with me. Of course, their mom, I took two of them across the whole country. And she was like thrilled.

They're gone. They had zero supervision. That's what I remember most. They got per diem. We would get to a town. My feeling was, you're not in diapers. You got this covered. And when we look, I just look back and go, oh, my gosh.

Okay, I think an alcohol problem began then. I think they were just, it's their favorite summer. And when we look back and that's what I mostly remember was hanging out with my nephews, listening to music all night and on the bus. I mean, think about that. You're a 13-year-old kid. And you get to go with Amy Grant across, your aunt, Aunt Amy, I don't know what they called you. Yeah.

You get, per DM, they get money every day, $25, 30,000, whatever they're going to get to go eat. They're on buses. They have access to probably go backstage. Probably teenage girls at your shows. They can go meet. I mean, I just remember getting to San Francisco, and we got there about 3 o'clock in the morning. We had the next day off. And then the following day, we had to be on the bus, like 1 o'clock to get to sound check.

and what I said was you better be here when it's time for the bus to leave that was it did their mom know that you were allowing them to just run free I don't you know I think I have a screw loose one day I was going through the

I was on my way to my hotel room and they're great guys great sense of humor but there were some two police officers in the hallway and they said we think somebody's broken into this room and went oh my gosh, that's where Logan and Burton are. And anyway, I looked in and went, oh, my gosh, it was ransacked, like everything torn up,

beds torn apart, mattresses in the wrong parts of the room. And while we were there, they walked up. And I went up, and I went, guys, I hate to tell you this. And they looked in and I went, oh, that's how we left it. They did it. Oh, God. It was exciting because that kind of thing was not really happening in Nashville. And so everybody that participated, it felt like such a group win. All the producers on that record, Keith Thomas, Michael O'Martian, Brown Bannister. I mean, Omar, he'd had.

number ones in decades you know I mean multiple decades but for us I don't know it just felt like it felt like the Olympics it felt like being on a winning team at the Olympics and um yeah so it was awesome

did you have expectations and right let's play a little bit of this song did you have expectations that this song was going to be a massive pop success were they telling you like this is what we're going to do Amy this song is going to be because again you're in Nashville you're not L.A It's not in New York.

It's hard for something to come out in the pop war, at least now it is from here. Like, did you have massive thoughts of just, I'm going to be just a humongous pop star with this song? I know. No, I just loved it. It was a fun time in life, and I wanted, you know, my background is more singing songs about faith, which tends to make for a serious conversation. And I was just so glad to have songs that were fun. and, you know, once again, I'd live next door to four of my nieces and nephews. And I remember them coming over and I would play like five songs from this record.

And I say, which one do you hate? Like, always trying to figure out how do we make this just something that somebody wants to play? And yeah, it was just so much fun. And I was signed to two record companies at the time, Word records and A&M records simultaneously. You know, because music, you had to, you had to, hunt for music back then. Nothing was you know online. And neither record

company really was high up on the song. Of that song specifically. Yeah. So if neither company is going, this is the one, how does it end up being the one? How does it end up being such a smash? Somebody sent it maybe Mark Mazetti sent it to a DJ in San Diego.

Kevin, sorry Kevin. I can't remember your last name. Yeah. And it just took off in Southern California. So it went one station, another then said, oh, well, that's pretty good. Let me play it. And then it's slowly, organically built. Yeah, that was back when music was like a grassfire. Yeah. When did you feel in your life like, oh, my life is changing now because of this song? Was there a moment where you're going, or a crowd you looked into and you're like, wow, you guys are a lot

bigger than you have been in the past? Crowds were big before that, but I remember going into the donut den in Green Hills. And a group of of girls, maybe high school girls, were coming out. And I walked in, we just passed in the doorway, and they all screamed in my face. They're like right in. And then they left, and I went in and I thought, well, that's weird. I've been coming to Donut Den since I was five. Was there ever a point where you had to go, okay, it's not safe for me to go out places because it's, right now it's a little too crazy? No, I never felt that way. Because, you know, I was the baby in my family and five generations of my family here to be, I knew your mother when we were just children. I mean, yeah, I've just always been

somewhere in the pack. You have non-stop tour dates because Amy had told me that you were doing like 40 shows or something this year. And I was like, wow, for anybody to commit to 40 shows is crazy, pandemic or not, that's just a lot of shows. Are you kind of touring more pop style than country style where it's not just Friday, Saturday and come home? Are there like Tuesday, Wednesday shows? Do you know? Yeah. That is a lot of dates. I think we're leaving in October and not coming back. You're doing alternative rock tour. That's what that is.

You just live on the bus. Well, you know what's fun about that is you have days off away from town. Because to really discover the country, I mean, it's so fantastic because you're working your way across. And so it's, you know, like the bike trails in the Pacific Northwest are unbelievable. So you actually go on the road and find things to do in off days and don't just sleep. Oh, yeah. And I mean, I like to get out and meet people. I like to, I remember finding a drum circle at a park in California.

And yeah, and just like, yeah, just live and be a part of what other people are doing. And finding a farmer's market and coming back and cooking in the room. And, you know, just live. That's what I need a little more of. Yeah, you do. I said I'm like, just work, just work, just work, what, climb to the next goal. Let me play a little bit of every heartbeat here. Because I think this is my favorite of all the old school pop stuff.

Like this one to me, every heartbeat. I sing it really good too. Yeah, you did. Like, what do you think about when you hear this song? Oh. I think about these, you know, hand motions. I never took dance class. I'm not a dancer, but I can't help but move when music is happening.

I'm not trying to look cool. It just happens. but I remember the goofy hand motions that we all did during that tour for that song. It kind of looks like the macarena of what you're doing now. It does, yeah. But, yeah, but I mean, and we weren't trying to get anybody to dance, but it was so, like, everybody did it. My young children did it. The crew guys did it.

There's some songs that I probably won't do live, you know, that were just kind of goofy songs on the record. yeah just to get to do something you love is man what a gift let me say this beginning July 30th for the first time since its original release the album will be remastered on vinyl that's exciting

here is always because now you know I've been doing this for the radio thing for a long time right 20 something years well since I was 17 yeah and then I've been doing mornings I was 22 so almost 20 years and in a way I'm like hey that's really cool

but in a way I'm like dang it's like it's a long time so with this record as it hits 30 years are you like dang look at that the success of this thing is amazing but are you also like dang it's 30 years later because that's how I feel with this thing too

yeah yeah well I was 17 when I started singing and so like when I look back on that it might have looked like something happened overnight but I had put in a lot of years before that and mostly what I was I feel is, dang, life goes by fast. And if I didn't look in a mirror or if I didn't like try to run really fast

and wind up wetting my pants, you know, it's just like you'd think, oh no, I mean, time stands still. For all of us with different things, and for me, music makes time stand still. I was reading a book, and I read a long time ago called I'm okay, you're okay, where they talk about music

that if, let's say you listen to a song a whole lot when you were 10, and you play that song right now. For a brief second in your brain, it feels like you're 10 years old because your brain triggers on that sound and it reminds you of exactly, just for an instant.

But it gives you that feeling like you're talking about now. Like when I play, you know, every heartbeat I think of where I was when I was, I was listening to the radio back then. Yeah. You know, when I had this shirt the first time, the first version of this shirt.

Amy, you are a massive Amy Grant fan. I know you've been sitting back there just patiently waiting. What would you like to ask Amy? I mean, I just like, My fifth grade talent show, like I performed Galileo. So, and I had, when you were talking about like the dance moves, like two of my girlfriends, Kristen and Highley, we had matching outfits and we got up on stage in front of our entire elementary school and performed in the year of 1492 when Columbus sailed the ocean blue.

So I, just for me like that, I mean, would you, are you going to be performing that? show. I don't even know. I'll be honestly, I don't know that song, Amy. Only from Amy here singing it. us singing her songs to her. That's so great. I can just picture your little fifth grade face. Oh, like we puff painted our own matching shirts and we had hats. And like there was a part, because we had microphones with cords. And there was the part of we incorporated or choreographed a turn, which we didn't really think that through with the chords and like I trip out.

And so I just have so many special memories with you. So I'm definitely going to be finding a city near me. I don't know which one I'm going to try to go to. Well, she's coming to Franklin three times. Oh, well then yes, that is a city near me. Yeah, it's near you. So I will be there. But I just think it's interesting to even just hear you say too as a reminder of like for

you like it just goes by so fast and to live and I love that that you're you're actually doing that and you just sitting here with you in this moment has inspired me to like want to live a little bit more. Good pitch center. Do you feel like, you know, as you talk about live your life, do you feel like your heart surgery has changed your perspective about living? Did that happen with you? where you're like, okay, now I really got to refocus. I was just grateful to wake up, you know. But it's funny, like, coming in here, I was joking with Jennifer Cook, my manager, and I said, you think he wants to talk about, like, picking up beer mash from East Nashville beerworks and feeding our beef flow?

No, that's probably not what it's going to be. You think he wants to talk about the day camp we do at our farm? No, I'm an archery instructor. Probably not that. You think he wants to talk about this acoustic brain mirroring therapy that I do? No. I think it's music. And what I love is that there's a lot of life in my head and in my heart.

And music is part of that. And touring focuses me on that. And then I go, oh, God, what a gift. That really has been the platform from which I have launched a lot of other things that I wouldn't been able to participate in had it not been for music. But I just think we all have some. so many gifts and talents and you just have to, you've got to reach. You have to reach for different things because you might be essential in another circle and you don't even know it. And it's,

it's a good thing. By the numbers, you have sold more than 30 million albums worldwide. You have six Grammys. I mean, like she doesn't know this, by the way. I'm reading you on this. You have 22 Dove Awards. You had the first Christian album, Two Go Platinum. You know, whenever, you know, you kind of look at folks, you know who is most, to me, because I've, been able to see you be amazing on the Christian chart as well, but like a Lauren Dagle, because I know Lauren a little bit too, like you guys to me are like the same person. It's so funny. I met her and said, you want to go to walk on our farm? And we went and strung hammocks high up in a tree and sat there. And I said, what really matters to you? And I loved it that she said,

I'll always sing, but what I really care about is, and it was, you know, that's her story tale. And it's just like, sing, sing, sing, sing, sing, because that's a platform from which you'll be able to do other things. But, man, she. But that's you, too, you know? Like you are her, she is you. Yeah, I love that. Yeah, well, and I know you just said that, and I just want to affirm you, because two things came to my mind when you were talking about how it's enabled you to do other things. So my daughter actually went to your camp last week.

No way. Yeah. So she was there for a full week and it was the best camp experience she's ever had. And she came away with so many new friendships. It was very special. And then also, Bobby, the brain thing I got you for your birthday. That's what she's talking about. Oh, that exact thing?

Yes. He just hasn't done. Sarah said? Yes. He hasn't done it yet. Well, so here's the thing. And I haven't talked about it a lot because it's a medic, but I've had some brain issues, some medical issues.

Yeah. And Amy was like, I got you something. I am so, this makes me so happy. And so, but it was COVID still and I was like, well, I'm going to wait until we're out of this thing and I'll go and, but I haven't gone yet. So what's this thing going to do to me? Am I to come in smarter? Lovellier, be honest. You couldn't be smarter.

You are like, God, you fire on all pistons all the time. I discovered this technology in 2009 and it was a game changer and it does subtle things. But for some people it does really amazing things. But, you know, real peace and joy is found in the moment. But our brains create all these tracks from things that have happened to us in the past. And they default to those tracks, even when those circumstances have changed. He came back for the fifth session three weeks later and he said, I finally started sleeping because, you know, it's his brain that has to do the fixing. I'm just giving his brain the opportunity. And I said, what about the nightmares? And he went, oh, those ended after the first session. And so, but we all live with stress and trauma. And, you know, someday, Lord willing, this will be FDA approved and the whole world can do it.

But we do it with veterans. I've done it with women from the shelter. What do you mean you've done it? You actually, are there with them? I am a tech. You are? I did two sessions yesterday. Are you going to be doing mine?

Do you read my brain? No. I sure can. Yeah, it's so funny. I was talking to a musician yesterday who was in my chair. And yeah, and another thing is it's just it's caring touch. That's another thing. Like just setting somebody up is, I don't know, we just, it's so much fun to have a job where I can care for people.

you mentioned sometimes we revert back to where our brains were even though we're not in that situation. Now that's kind of what happens with my fiance now because listen I grew up didn't have a dad

didn't have a good mom situation lived in poverty a lot of my life and I still act like I still go back to that sometimes and my fiance is like hey look she got by the shoulders you're not that kid anymore like your brain is taking you to a bad place

and you're acting like you were when you were nine or ten but you don't have to do that anymore and so when you said that that kind of struck me as like, that's what we deal with all the time in my house. Yeah, yeah. Where I'm constantly living like I'm that same person growing up, you know, in the trailer park. Like, we don't know if we even have food tonight.

Yeah. And, you know, she has to do that to me. Yeah. You're going to love this because it will, like, the noise in your head will disappear. And that's what it is. The noise in my head has never disappeared. It's always one foot on the gas or two feet on the gas. That's it.

There's no break. It's one foot or two all the time. Well, listen, I'm so glad that you came in because we are massive fans of you just in general. And whenever Amy mentioned that you were doing the tour, I was like, this gives us a reason to invite her back on because now we can build it like we're promoting the tour, but we can actually hang out and talk with her.

There's a guy Mark Scotch. He's 64 years old. He started chatting with Hugh Smith, who's 56 at a brewery while he was visiting Louisiana. They struck up a friendship after learning that Hugh, the younger of the two, was spending 10 hours a night on dialysis after he went into kidney failure. So Mark volunteered after their conversations to become his kidney donor. Turns out Mark was not a match for Hugh, but he was still able to help him get a new kidney by donating his because they have a whole program where if you donate to someone else, they donate and eventually it comes back around to who you're aiming for. Oh, amazing. So this guy, again, Mark and Hugh sitting at a bar that turns into him actually getting his kidney. Well now,

How about that? So how did this get revealed? Like 23 me? Well, he shared this story again, and everybody was like, how do we track this back? But his girlfriend was taking a shower. He found years worth of explicit messages and pictures that his girlfriend and his grandfather had shared, which by the way, weird. I don't want to see my grandpa's peepee.

Not even accidentally. I mean, not even if it's not my girl. He confronted the two, moved out. He's been staying with another grandfather. And so that's the story. Oh, man. That is crazy. Yeah.
