Starting point is 00:01:52 Air Tasker. Get anything done? All right. The Bobby Bones Post-Show Pre-show. We just finished Wednesday. show and got a few things to say about today's show. We did get into the Bear Girls. I was telling Amy, as we're getting off the air here, I had like over 500 listeners tag me in Instagram stories as I watched Bear Girls last night, which is just, yeah, like,
Starting point is 00:02:13 I'm so appreciative. And we play some clips from the show, and I was on Running Wild with Bear Girls last night, and it was pretty crazy. Pretty crazy. You know, my calves are sore, by the way. Why? When we did, not from Bearer Girls, a couple nights ago, we did our million-dollar show for the raging idiots. Jumping up and down? Jumping up and down for three hours. hours. Yeah. My calves are sore. Quite the workout.
Starting point is 00:02:33 I was like, why am my legs sore? Because I wrote my bike yesterday, but I don't get sore from that. But yeah, it's a weird one because I'm just bouncing the whole time. Well, how about a Maud's picture proposing on the rhyme and stage? Our photographer, friend Zach Massey, got the perfect picture. Framer. It's perfect. What was cool was we had multiple photographers.
Starting point is 00:02:55 And I may have mentioned this yesterday, but I had one of them doing video, one doing pictures. and it was just, and it was recorded. So he's got the perfect proposal. So he's got pictures, video, audio. It was just great. And it's going to be in a special. We were actually lining up the special
Starting point is 00:03:10 that we're going to air back. Hey, do you want to hear part of, Ray, we're not going to play the song, but let's pull up Lindsay's thing because we brought out Lindsay L, and she has the song, you know, I don't love you, baby. And she's like, play the front of that.
Starting point is 00:03:24 The intro, for sure, the intro. For sure, the intro. You guys, it is always such a pleasure to stand on this. the stage. And my goodness, what a show this has been. I'm working on new music. I'm working on a new record.
Starting point is 00:03:50 It's not many times where I stand on the stage with my ex-boyfriend and sing a breakup song. And I knew people would have their phones on me. I had to sit back on a stool and just strummed along and kept my head down. You did keep your head down. Yeah, just because I didn't want to be. That's her song, her story. She was performing. It wasn't about me at all. I don't even
Starting point is 00:04:16 want her to do that. I mean, she could. It's her thing. And she was acknowledging the elephant in the room, which isn't even an elephant really anymore. But I guess maybe it was the first time she played it. But yeah, no, and I just knew people would have that camera on me. But you know what people like? What? Backstories. What's that song about?
Starting point is 00:04:32 They like to know that. And the fact that she was performing it and you were there, dude, I couldn't help but look at you. I kept my head down. I wasn't trying to be any part of that. But I can't wait for you to hear this whole show. We are probably a couple weeks away from airing the whole concert and it's just so good. My point was the Ahmaid moment when he got proposed was so good.
Starting point is 00:04:52 That moment's funny. Saw your Brown coming out as a surprise. Foreigner. Brooks and Dunn. Killing it's killing it. Come on. Yeah, it's great. I'm excited for you guys to hear that. These male escorts are being hired to be good listeners now.
Starting point is 00:05:07 Okay. A new trend has emerged in the mail escort business. Men are being hired to be good listeners to comfort their clients emotionally. Feminist-leaning male sex workers are selling themselves as the ideal boyfriend except for no sex. They just talk and listen. Interesting.
Starting point is 00:05:27 The clients are charging about a thousand bucks for a two-hour date. What? Oh my gosh. And they listen and try to give real advice and real carey. Oh, so they trained with real advice? No, they're not trained for something else and they probably train themselves, Because I would rather invest that into like actual a relationship.
Starting point is 00:05:46 A therapist. Oh. Like as they listen and then they can give you like role advice. Do you feel like your husband listens? What's the listen scale? Yeah, he listens. He listens. And he listens more like he used to always try to fix.
Starting point is 00:06:03 Like if I would be talking to him about something, you would always try to have a solution which annoyed me. But I get it. I mean, that's just part of him wanting to be a fixer. and now he realizes that that's not what I need. I'm not, sometimes I'm not talking to him about whatever
Starting point is 00:06:18 so that he can fix it. I just need someone to talk to about it. I think I'll probably do that too. I try to fix everything. Yeah. So it's like, here's the problem. Well, let me fix the problem. Right.
Starting point is 00:06:27 But you don't, yeah. Amy, explain how that works though. I'm more like a magnifying glass than a warm blanket. You're right. That's a good analogy. Sometimes you just want to be wrapped in a warm blanket and comfort it instead of trying to figure it out.
Starting point is 00:06:40 Exactly right. but so when you ask us like when you ask your husband like or tell your husband this is my problem you don't want an answer at all that's what i might it depends if i didn't come up with the solution it's like weren't you listening to be helping me right no because you can't have to be like weren't you helping me you can have healthy communication and say hey this is a time where or he since i mean we've been married for so long he kind of knows like okay so he'll he'll go ahead and address it and be like okay so is this a time where do you do you know need me to listen or do you want me to share with you what I'm thinking? And then I said,
Starting point is 00:07:15 well, right now I just need you to listen. But I might come to you later and take your advice. Because sometimes I just, I don't want the advice. I don't know how to fix it. It's not what I'm looking for. It's not a problem. I just need to vent or share or get my emotions out. Gosh, that's hard for every man, I think. Oh, yeah. For sure. I don't think it's easy for him to do that, but he's learned too, which is cool. I was reading a story about relationships too where they say, couples who roast each other have the strongest bond. Yeah, we need to get better at that. I love, oh, you and your husband?
Starting point is 00:07:47 Yeah, like. I love roast it. I think I roast everybody. If I really, really, really care about you, I roast the crap out of you. It's fun. And expect to be roasted back. Wait till you're here today, show a little later.
Starting point is 00:07:57 That's right. And he roast the crap out of me. So much so that I had tears in my eyes. I was laughing so hard. It's good. Thanks. I just cut a video from it, so I laughed watching it. Couples who roast each other have stronger bonds.
Starting point is 00:08:11 It just means, too, if you can roast each other, that you're not super sensitive. There's a comfort and familiarity. And I think that's where the roasting comes from. I love roasting. But if the wrong person roast me, I get pissed. I'm like, you have no right to roast me. The right person, like, roast away. Who are you to say that about me?
Starting point is 00:08:32 Yeah. You, like, take every shot. It's just a difference. You ever see the off-episode where Michael Scott does a roast on himself? And he has everybody come to a roast, and then he gets really, really sad and offended in the middle. I love it. Then he just walks off.
Starting point is 00:08:43 I know, but I can see how that's serious. It's really funny. A study from Appalachian State University finds that lighthearted banter between partners is good for a relationship and couples who roast each other have a longer and happier relationship than those who don't roast.
Starting point is 00:08:57 So, roast away is what I say. Okay, noted. Is it rude to watch a football game at a wedding? A wedding guest is being called rude for having his phone pulled out watching a game during the mother's son dance. Dang. I mean, it was during the reception?
Starting point is 00:09:10 Yeah. It's fine. Agree. Ceremony, no. It wasn't the mother, right? It's been all good. Yeah, so she's not dancing and watching. But, I mean, yeah, the reception, that's fine.
Starting point is 00:09:19 Ray's wedding is during an Arkansas off week. It's actually Tennessee and Alabama, so we kind of screwed up on that one. But yeah, Arkansas might be in the clear. No, they're in the clear. The first thing I do is the October 24th. Yeah. We avoided Halloween, but yeah, we screwed it. So if Tennessee's undefeated, Bama's probably going to be undefeated,
Starting point is 00:09:37 that could be a huge cluster app. Good prediction. I see it now. I already told my chick. And she's like, no, we got to have it then. And my dad already booked up November, December. So we're stuck to October. Well, again, Arkansas's clear. I'm good. So you don't care. Party away. That's it. We've got to get to today show. Here is Wednesday show. Hope you enjoy it. We appreciate you. Follow me on Instagram, Mr. Bobby Bones. Also, there are lots of podcasts. Starting point is 00:13:15 Morning. Well, let's do what's happening in everybody's life in our segment called What's the Haps. Hey. What's the hat? So I try to hit the gym Or ride my bike Or do something. Like my goal is usually
Starting point is 00:13:29 Five times a week. Try to get in That sixth time. I don't like to exercise. There's no part of me That enjoys working out or exercising. I enjoy after what it feels like. But I really don't like it. And so I'm not some weirdo that just Craves the gym. I'm the guy that goes I hate having to go to the gym. But then
Starting point is 00:13:46 I go, I get my workover with And then eat my marshmallows. Lucky Charms. I live my life like a bowl. Lucky Charms. Eat all the oats first, and then I have my marshmallows. And I'm not really a guy that believes in shortcuts when it comes to things like that. So here you go. Are you ready? Ready. Scientists at the University of Michigan may have invented a pill that gives you the same benefits as working out.
Starting point is 00:14:08 Don't you feel like... Cardiovascularly for your heart? You feel like you're going to grow a tail or something? Right. And how is it working out your heart? I don't... I thought we had to get the blood flowing. Like, does it somehow do that, I guess? Given the option, would you avoid the gym altogether and simply pop a pill or drink a supplement that gives you the same benefits? If there's no strings attached, probably, right? Sounds good.
Starting point is 00:14:30 Yeah, but I also like the endorphins that are released after a workout. Researchers at the University of Michigan say that the naturally occurring protein cestrin appears to mimic the effects of both with both flies and mice in experimental trial. Okay, then. I mean... It's just like us. If it's like they worked out then Yeah do they work out A lot
Starting point is 00:14:53 Yeah I was watching a fly bodybuilding show last night On YouTube There's one the one fly picking up a lot of weight One fly just ripped So they're testing You know in the Well what's funny though too If you look back at movies like 20 years ago
Starting point is 00:15:06 They were just taking a pill For all their food And that hasn't happened yet We're not even really that close to that But they are developing a pill But you know Did you ever see the movie with Will Smith where they all took the pill to live
Starting point is 00:15:19 and then they all died. It was, um, was, I am legend. I am legend. Love that, and there was like a miracle pill that was on the market and everybody was taking it to live longer. Turns out they didn't test it enough and then everybody started dying
Starting point is 00:15:30 and he was like one of the only guys left. Oh my gosh, crazy. That's what's gonna happen with this? But I'll still take a prescription right now and let's see how it goes. That's my What's the Haps are right this morning. Hey, what's the hacks? Amy.
Starting point is 00:15:41 So I want to get your opinion on strangers giving my kids money. Love it. Oh, oh, four. I thought I just meant random. Okay, go ahead. No, for behaving well, which in my mind. That sounds so weird.
Starting point is 00:15:53 Yeah, a guy had to sit next to my kids, and he thought they were so well behaved. He gave them $5 each. I don't know the guy. And they had $5, and they were like, why? They were like, we were good, he said. And I was like, okay, first of all. What's the situation? Okay, we were flying.
Starting point is 00:16:08 And I'm just, I'm still thinking about it because it still perplexed me why a stranger would give my kids money. He just thought they were well behaved. And in my mind, I'm like, well, Well, thank you, but they should be. And now he's created this thing because since then a couple of times it's come up where my kids have said to us, me and my husband, well, if you want us to be good, $5. Oh. Kind of like. Now they're holding their good ransom.
Starting point is 00:16:32 Right. If you want the good back, go take $5. They thought that. I know where you are at last. They think back to that situation on a recent flight and how they got paid to behave how they're supposed to behave on a flight. But I guess maybe this guy has sat. next to unruly children, and he just was so impressed with how they handled travel. So he rewarded them with $5.
Starting point is 00:16:54 Well, I guess here are the things that would come into play with me. How old is the guy? If he's an old old man, no problem. No, he was probably, I don't know, 40, 45. Interesting. Strange. He had kids. He was nice.
Starting point is 00:17:05 I'm not worried about him. That doesn't wear me out. Oh, if you're not worried about him? I'm not worried about as strangers. Does he have a way to contact your kids ever again? No. Then great. They're good.
Starting point is 00:17:12 No. But just giving, rewarding kids like that with, you know, it just seemed weird because now they're like, oh, remember last time we were good? We got $5 from that man. For you. I can see the next flight that they're on if we're not sitting with them because we weren't sitting with them because we had separate. So who is we? Your kids are sitting by themselves? They were, me, my husband, and the kids, and there's only three seats in a row.
Starting point is 00:17:33 And so no. And it was Delta, so we had assigned seats. So we put them together. And then my husband was up in comfort. And I was behind them. It was getting weirder and weird. Yeah. It just how we had to, there was only seats left.
Starting point is 00:17:45 We couldn't call and be like, can you seat our family together? Because we booked it last minute. Okay, in the end, I don't see a problem with it if the guy wasn't weird. The only thing that I would see a problem with it is he was weird and like somehow got your kid's iPad contact or something. Okay, that part would definitely freak me out? But then... Would you like $5 if you do a good show? We can just make it a thing.
Starting point is 00:18:05 Yes. So you nail it, it's just $5. Okay. And then you can pass that down to your kids. I can see now why my kids are into this. See, it's pretty cool, huh? Hey, there they're. What's the hat?
Starting point is 00:18:15 Lunch, box. Man, it's the 15th, and this year is off to a terrible start. 15 days in, I've only had one nap of 2020. What's been the problem? My wife keeps scheduling her doctor's appointments at like 1 o'clock in the afternoon, 1.30. And so by the time, it's time to go, I get to eat lunch, go there, and then it's time to pick up the kid from daycare. She's doing that all wrong, and I've just been busy. And one nap, 2020 is, oh, it's killing me.
Starting point is 00:18:40 You can't get a 30-minute nap? 30 minutes, not you're worth closing your eyes. Oh. I mean, it needs to be over an hour for it to be considered a nap. Oh. And worth it. Well, then don't send her to the doctor. No doctor appointments for you.
Starting point is 00:18:51 Or tell her to go alone. Tell her to go alone. Yeah. Put her with Amy's kids. You need your nap. Hey, they're well behaved. I can't believe you put them by themselves. Wait.
Starting point is 00:18:59 Anybody are shocked by that? I was shocked. I was shocked. No, no. They were not sitting with a stranger. He was across the aisle, first of all. Second of all, was two rows behind them. But you know how that happens.
Starting point is 00:19:10 But he gave him money. If you thought they were alone Hey Hey What's the hat? Eddie I want to ask you guys How low can your gas tank level be
Starting point is 00:19:22 Before you're like I've got to get gas Zero Half tank What? I don't go below half a tank Guys I've been riding with a gas light For two days Well what's it say?
Starting point is 00:19:34 Like how many miles do you have I just tested it? No no I don't have I haven't yet I don't have the thing where it says How many gallons to go How many miles you can go, whatever. But it's on E?
Starting point is 00:19:43 And the light's on. It's been on for two days, but I feel like I've got maybe, I don't know, another day in it. You shake the car from behind us, so you can hear the gas. Yeah, you hear it going back and forth in the tank? Well, if you haven't done this, you always have to do an experiment at some point because you have a new Jeep. Right. And see how long it'll go. I definitely would.
Starting point is 00:19:59 I'm always prepared. My phone doesn't go below 50%. My gas tank doesn't go below 50%. Like, my half is empty. But that's life. Everything I do is super prepared. Always have a little left in the tank. When we had our million dollar show a couple nights ago,
Starting point is 00:20:14 Brett Young ran out of gas getting to rehearsal. Oh boy. That's why he didn't get to come to sound check. He ran out of gas. And I was like, who does that anymore? Someone like me leaving a light of me. And he was like, yeah, I did because I just didn't put any gas in there. Well, good luck today.
Starting point is 00:20:26 Yeah, thanks. I'm going to try one more day. Let's see how it goes. Oh, boy. All right. Hey, there you go. Hey, what's the hat? Here's the Bobby Bones Show podcast, highlight segment of the day.
Starting point is 00:20:36 Let's go over and talk to Joe in Chicago. Joe, what's happening? Not too much. Good morning, studio. Morning! I got a question for you, Bobby. I was watching a Bear Girls episode last night. That was absolutely crazy. At any point during filming, did you ever want to back down from what you were about to do?
Starting point is 00:20:53 What was interesting about the show is that by far I was the least famous person on the season. So I went in going, man, I really have to prove myself. Now, that thought goes away when you have to do things that really scare you. but they're really smart about the process of the show because you start doing things that aren't super crazy like we went down this really slick rock and it was pretty steep but it wasn't what happened at the end of the show
Starting point is 00:21:20 so they kept escalating everything we kept doing it kept getting bigger or bigger where it wasn't ever a humongous jump but two jumps, two things away you'd be like holy crap, that was crazy so I never wanted to back out until I got to the very last cliff with the waterfall which was straight down we tied a rope to a tree
Starting point is 00:21:39 and just went down this water and he goes, there he goes, this tray can hold 10 men and I'm like, well I don't want one man me hanging off this tree I was so scared I was more scared to do that than I was to skydive
Starting point is 00:21:53 because at one point Bear girl said hey listen as long as you hold onto this rope you're good because I was the only one on my rope as I was going down the cliff I was the one doing my entire rope because as long as you hold onto it you're not going to die you're perfect you're safe
Starting point is 00:22:06 I was like, but what if I let go? When I skydived, I was with somebody else. And they'd done it a thousand times. I was like, I'll just jump and be scared. And then it wasn't that scary. The whole time we went down that cliff, I was scared to death. How tight were you gripping that rope? Eddie, so much so that when I got to the bottom, I had to, I promised, and I'm being literal,
Starting point is 00:22:22 I had to take my finger and peel my fingers off the rope because I was squeezing it so hard all the way down. It was the most scared I've ever been in my life going down that cliff. My legs were shaking where it felt like I was a cartoon. Because you know how you see people's legs go, won't, won't. in and out. My legs felt like they were doing that. And they said, how do you feel?
Starting point is 00:22:41 And the clip they used me last night was going, I get paid to say things. I got nothing to say. And then away we went. So I never was going to back out. But that was the most scared I've ever been in my entire life. Wow. But I felt like I had something to prove to the show,
Starting point is 00:22:57 had something to prove to myself, had something to show people. So we did it. But I was proud of that show last night. And that's not something I often say. That was really one of the coolest things I've ever got to do. Oh, it's one of the coolest things I've ever watched you do. And I've watched you do a lot of cool things.
Starting point is 00:23:13 I was getting a lot of love about how not weenie I am when that's not the case most of time. People can never say you're a weenie again after doing this. They can and they will and they should. And I haven't said it last night on one of the clips. I was like, you know, it's time to be a man or a mouse. And most times a mouse, but for a brief second, I was a man. So it was thrilling to do crazy to watch. I got anxiety watching again last night
Starting point is 00:23:41 because I remember how I felt going into it. It kind of triggered a few things. But it was just a wonderful experience. And everything that Bearer Girls looks like on that show, as nice as he is, he is that plus. Just so warm and welcoming. The other really cool thing about Bearer Girls who has done the show for seasons and goes all over the world
Starting point is 00:23:59 is he doesn't know really who any celebrity is because he's in all these countries. He says he'll go and I think he does one in, Japan. He does one in the East, like Japan or Korea. And he's like, I don't know them. He goes, but if they're good people, I bond at them. Yeah. And we just go out as humans. Yeah. What's his, like, does he have kids or? Oh, okay. And on his Instagram, they're always doing daredevil stuff. The kids are. Yeah. Of course. So, yeah, loved it. It was on Nat Geo last night. You can probably find it on demand. I have a couple of clips. Here is Bear Grills last night on.
Starting point is 00:24:35 on what I embody. This is at the end of the show last night, I think. Bobby Burns in so many ways, I think, embodies the American dream, a man who's had to overcome so much in his life to reach the top. Number one, Bobby Bowen refuses ever to complain. Number two, whenever he falls down, he gets back up.
Starting point is 00:24:57 And number three, his whole life and reason for living is to help other people and make other people's lives better. and those are three great qualities in a survivor. The second thing he said at a point, what was one of the second ones? What was one of the things he said? At a point. Now I lost it.
Starting point is 00:25:16 Yeah, I don't know. You never complain and then if you fall down. I fell down. I literally fell down. I was jumping over that icy water and I wiped out. They showed it. Yeah, they showed it.
Starting point is 00:25:28 Like I didn't quite make it. And then I went, boom, and tumbled. Then luckily Bear fell later. He was like, oh, this was not going to work. so I didn't feel like a total dope. I definitely fell down. Oh, the way he says, Bobby Bones. Bobby Bones is he embodies the wimpiest man.
Starting point is 00:25:44 Oh, he didn't say that. Here is, this is me talking about that. I might be the wimpiest person to ever be on this show. I just want to give you guys a heads up. It's basically Urquil takes to wild. That's what we're doing right now. Get some stretches out. My biggest fear is heights and danger and rocks and water and outside and cold.
Starting point is 00:26:04 So I'm pretty good. I'm in the perfect environment for facing every one of my, oh, and commitment. But unless they're going to put a girl out of here and say, marry her, I'm good on that one. Funny. I LOLed at that part. Yeah, there's definitely funny parts. There was. I mean, yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:21 Again, I'm watching it going, hey, that's a pretty good job. I did a pretty good job. You did. I don't remember any of that happening because I was just cold and scared. We go and we find this rotted sheep. And then luckily, I know how to clean an animal growing up in Arkansas. I was okay with the cleaning part of it, but it was the top part of it that had been rotted,
Starting point is 00:26:38 and the bottom part of it was still pretty fresh because it had been under cold water. And so I'm cleaning the back end of it, and the bear's like, we're gonna get the tongue, we'll eat that later. And so then we go to set up camp, and then we eat the tongue. I'm looking forward to dinner.
Starting point is 00:26:51 I know he's like dead, dead sheep bah, you know, ugh, gross. I haven't eaten all day, so I'm starving. Maybe sheep tongue only sounds good when you have had nothing to eat all day. That was pretty good. I mean, I would eat the whole thing. That's good.
Starting point is 00:27:07 Yeah, it wasn't weird. It was like any other meat that you just find and cook on an open fire. It was weird seeing and cutting, but once it's in your bag, all meats basically the same. Here's the reaction where we're going to go down this big cliff
Starting point is 00:27:20 because when I looked over the edge at my heart went into my throat, it felt like, it was one of those like, oh man, I can't believe we're... Yeah, I mean, at this point, you cannot back out. I'm not going to back out, but for the first time I thought, can we not fake this?
Starting point is 00:27:30 Right. Because nothing on the show was faked. But I thought, Is there any way we could like manipulate camera tricks? Come on guys, show biz. I've seen the Avengers. I know this stuff's not all real, but it was. So this is where it drops off.
Starting point is 00:27:43 Wait, we're going down that. Eventually that's our way out. We just need to find someone to tired off to, and then we're gonna do it side by side. I'm gonna be honest. Like I get paid to say things, I got nothing to say. I don't, I didn't wanna look off the cliff and now they won't be to climb down the cliff.
Starting point is 00:28:02 A lot of listeners were tagging me in their Instagram stories. And I just appreciate the support. I really do. And I tried to watch all of them. And I'm just grateful. And I talked about the listeners on that show last night, just how grateful I am for the people that let us do what we do. Some text questions.
Starting point is 00:28:19 Do you have health tests that you take? I did. They put heart EKGs all over me, had to do fitness stuff just because they don't want to get you into a place and you can't get out. Right. And there was climbing and a lot of physical, and I'm in good shape.
Starting point is 00:28:31 But yes, they want to make sure that you can actually physically get in and out. Let's see. Do you have take health tests? Who goes back and gets the ropes? Well, that rope thing, we climb back up. You see us climbing back up. So we tied the ropes, and then when you see us going back up that hill, we're going back to get all the ropes. Oh, you have to get them all?
Starting point is 00:28:53 Because that one rope seems so long. Because we didn't have a big crew with us. It wasn't like there was a T. You can't leave the ropes for the next people that want to do that? Yeah. No, I don't think so. Because then what if you need the rope? Again, as a survival.
Starting point is 00:29:04 Well, the rope was like 600 feet long. Oh my God. But no, when we're going up at the end, we're going back up to get the ropes. Okay. And a lot of people are asking about the helicopter because at the end, you just see this clip in. I'm standing outside of a helicopter and we just go flying off the side. So scary, but I was so tired. And my adrenaline had been up and down from going off that cliff that I was just like, you know, if I die.
Starting point is 00:29:24 Whatever. Yeah. Looks we got it on tape. It's good. It's a good theory there. But in my mind, that's what I was thinking. I was so tired. Maxie in Arkansas, you're on the show.
Starting point is 00:29:37 How are you, Maxie? I'm good. I just want to tell you, I watched your show last night, and I usually don't watch Bear Grills. But, I mean, how inspirational you are. I grew up in Hot Springs, and I don't know if you remember, but when I was in eighth grade,
Starting point is 00:29:49 I shadowed you at KLAZ, me and my friend Heather, which it was like 16 years ago. Oh, wow. You know what? I haven't stopped talking about it. A lot of days I come in with the show. I'm like...
Starting point is 00:29:58 Oh, is this who you talk about? Yeah, her and Heather. I remember this. Yeah, she was in eighth grade. Heather. Yeah. Yeah. And so it's just really cool.
Starting point is 00:30:06 You know, mom's passed away now, but she would be so proud of you. I don't know. She always had a knack for people and she knew that you were really great. Oh, that's nice. A big inspiration and all my friends like you DJed our middle school dance too. I did? And so, yeah. I used to do sound and light shows.
Starting point is 00:30:23 I'm telling you, I would go and I would get there three, four hours early and I had these two sticks. And I would put lights on each edge of the end of the show. edge of the stick, and then I would set up two CD players and a mini-disc player. Oh, boy. And I would hang the speakers. And then I would do sound on light shows. It's how I made 40 bucks for the night. And I was set.
Starting point is 00:30:40 I was so pumped because I would do my little DJ radio shows. And on the weekends, I would go do sound and light shows to eighth grade dances, junior high dances, old folks' homes. And I'll be like, all right, everybody, here's it your love from Tim and Faith. Get out there. But leave a little room for the Holy Ghost. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:55 Oh, Maxie, I appreciate that call. It's very nice. That'd be to say. Yes, and we're just so proud of you. And I'm thankful. I'm raising my husband's cousin, and he's been through a similar situation. He doesn't know his dad, and his mom's just not in the picture right now. And so you're inspirational to our family this time.
Starting point is 00:31:17 I appreciate that. Thank you very much. Hope you have an awesome day, and really thank you for the call. And boy, what a trip down the old time highway right there. Wow. Here's one other clip. Here with me, this is the clip of me opening up about don't remember having this. conversation. It's crazy. All I don't remember
Starting point is 00:31:31 because it was like boom, boom, boom. I do remember a bear and I talking about my life, and here I am talking about my childhood. Like, I do stand up so I can feel loved. For me, I never had that. But I'm glad. You know what's funny? I look back now at my circumstances as a kid. And
Starting point is 00:31:49 a lot of people could feel sorry for the way they grow. I'm so grateful for the difficulties that I had growing up. So, yeah, there you go. Listen, I'm very happy with it. You won't hear me said that very often about things that I do. but I'm very happy with the show, and I'm very grateful that a lot of you guys watched and post to me. I haven't seen any ratings on it. I'm probably not going to pull a Channing Tatum number, but I'm never that guy.
Starting point is 00:32:09 You know, if there's one thing that we are together, is we are, we're the little guy. We're the underdog, and I appreciate you supporting me in that journey. So there we go. Here's the text. What were you wearing? All the clothes that I have on, they gave me as soon as I got there. I had to fly in the long, it took me like a day to get there, like 20 hours. Oh, okay, they gave them to you.
Starting point is 00:32:30 I was like, oh, look at Bobby. You went to REI or something. I said, what do I bring? And they said, well, it depends on the weather. Because it was like 34 degrees. And it was raining the whole time. And all those clothes, as soon as I got to my room, they were like, put your clothes on and we got to go
Starting point is 00:32:44 because I was like half a day late because of all the delays on flights. And so it was everything, boots, socks, all the way up to whatever. The only thing, the hardest part of the show, except for the cliff was my glasses. It was raining the whole time. Oh, yeah. And keeping them on through all the climbing, running, jumping,
Starting point is 00:32:57 and then the wet of just the glass. without a glasses cleaner was tough. And a lot of times I'm doing that thing like, huh? Because I can't see because my glasses are soaked. Yeah. So. Did you keep the clothes?
Starting point is 00:33:09 You still have them? Oh yeah. I got to keep whatever I wanted. I didn't have really, because I won't, here's the thing about me. I travel a lot. I will not check a bag.
Starting point is 00:33:17 Ever. You were going like around the world and you didn't check a bag. I will not check a bag. I don't care where I'm going for how long I'm going. I'm not going to check a bag. I mean,
Starting point is 00:33:23 I know that part. I'll make pants last for a week if I have to. Okay. And so I didn't have enough room my luggage to get back. Mike Dee's laughing. Hey Mike Dee, you've traveled with me a whole lot. Why are you laughing at that?
Starting point is 00:33:34 Because I do that now too. I can't check a bag because of you. Oh, when he travels, I'm like no bag checks. Yeah, you're not, it's like not allowed, which now I guess it's true. You have kind of trained us to be carry on people. You mean efficient? You mean on time and efficient? Yeah. I was thinking about this this morning too. Nobody on this show has ever laid anymore, ever. As respect to each other, no one is ever laid on this show.
Starting point is 00:33:58 True. I love it. It gives me pride that my kids are doing good. Thanks, Dad. Even when my kids are older than me, Eddie. I am older than you, but thank you. Thank you. All right. If you guys have calls, you can. We'll move off of this. I just am very grateful and appreciative that I get to do what I do. And that show was just a wonderful experience. And I'm very thankful to Courtney, the president, and Nat Geo for putting me on the show, to bear, to you guys, the listeners. Amy was posting on her Instagram story all leading up to it to people to turn it on.
Starting point is 00:34:28 It's a little, Morgan number two, set up and live tweeted it last night. It's the little things like that that I'm super appreciative of. So that's all. Officials are investigating the situation. And finally, the controversial Nike Vaparfly running shoe used by Marathon winners is set to be banned due to the foam and carbon fiber. It's a Bobby Bones show. I was reading Dr. Oz, and his quote is, breakfast is a ploy. What do you think about that?
Starting point is 00:38:13 Oh, I agree. I think that we've been told for a really, really, really long time that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Do you know that comes from a serial advertisement? Well, see, yeah, marketing and it's fine. Which is a lot of what we believe. Yeah, it's not science. It's cereal. Really? Same. Back in the day, breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
Starting point is 00:38:32 I didn't know that was a slogan. That got me my entire life. We've always just heard it and went from that to... And then what are you for breakfast? Probably that's cereal. Yeah. Which isn't actually probably the best way to start your day, but... So here we go. The line, breakfast is the most important meal of the day was invented in the 19th century
Starting point is 00:38:50 by Seventh-day Adventist James Caleb Jackson and Harvey Kellogg to sell their new invented breakfast cereal. So guys, when you hear that, just note that's a commercial. You're doing a commercial. Man. Dr. Oz is saying then in 2020 should be canceling breakfast rather than thinking it's the most important meal of the day. Here's what he says.
Starting point is 00:39:10 Because it is uncomfortable for us to think that because we've been conditioned to go breakfast, lunch, dinner, nine snacks in the middle, four coffee, you know, there are all these things that we think if we don't get it, we feel different. The famous doctor told TMZ that he's going to ban it this year and that it's still an advertising ploy. his advice is to have your first meal of the day when you're hungry rather than just having breakfast because you wake up and feel that you need to.
Starting point is 00:39:32 So he's someone who says, hey, just go with what your body says more than what you're being told. For a lot of people, myself included, some mornings I don't wake up and I'm not starving sometimes, especially if you eat late at night. But some people don't get hungry until midway through like morning closer to lunch. So don't eat breakfast if you're not hungry. But it is a whole like culture thing with us. Right. Do you get hangary? Yeah. Yeah, see, I did too.
Starting point is 00:39:58 That's why I can't skip meals like that. We don't have to skip it, but just be prepared. So when you're hungry, you eat thin. And you're already prepared like you have it. Don't then delay it after that because that's when the hangary sets in. But since I've been eating early as soon as I wake up my whole life, that's just what my stomach thinks I'm going to do every day. Yeah, but you can break that because I don't eat breakfast anymore because I'm intermittent fast.
Starting point is 00:40:18 Yeah. Well, now I do fit 33 diet. Right, of course, of course. Especially if I have something to do where I don't eat for, 16 hours, but I, you know, I have breakfast at 9. Yeah. But I wake up at 4.30. So, the first couple days are pretty terrible.
Starting point is 00:40:33 Right. But then your body is like, all right, cool, I adjust pretty quickly. Your body does a lot. It, like, repairs itself. Yeah. The body's crazy, man. It is. It is.
Starting point is 00:40:41 You can always email us. Ask us your questions. Let's open up the mailbag. Bobby's Mailbag. Hey, Bobby, you just got a. New tattoo. I heard you also got a new tattoo. So I thought maybe you could share some advice for me.
Starting point is 00:41:00 My 18-year-old daughter wants to get a tattoo of her SAT score on her upper thigh. She worked really hard, scored a 1,500. She will be the first in the family to ever go to college, so I know what's important to her. And the idea is important to her because the tattoo would have meaning. However, the design she made for the tattoo artist is rather large. I don't think she'll care about her SAT score in four years. let alone her whole life.
Starting point is 00:41:26 How do I talk her out of making this choice? Diana. Well, let me say this. Before you try to talk her out of making the choice, you're not going to talk her out of it. You may talk her back a bit. She's 18 years old. You're not going to convince her not to get a tattoo. Right.
Starting point is 00:41:43 Then I think of it means something to her, great. At least it's not like a skull with a snake going through the eye. Right. I mean, it's her SATs for. Right. Is that what they said? Yes. Should it get on the thigh?
Starting point is 00:41:53 Okay. So here's what I would say You're not going to talk her out of it But what I would show her Are really bad tattoo choices that people made Just go to Instagram And show her pictures Of bad
Starting point is 00:42:08 Large tattoos People did thinking it was a good idea then Not in the effort to not get it What I would say to her is I think it's great If it means something to you, that's awesome But these people They had there's a little too big
Starting point is 00:42:23 to? What if we just made it a little smaller? It still means something. Not many people are going to be seeing it anyway. It's your upper thigh. And let's kind of talk her back instead of away from it. That's what I would say, because she's 18. If anything, if you say don't do it, she's going to do it. Or you go with the other option, tell her to get it bigger. And then she'll think that's such a bad idea, she'll get it smaller. Like, you should get it way bigger. Like you should get two of them. Like, go reverse psychology. But I think that's what you do. You pull up Google images. You show her bad tattoos. and you go, hey, listen, you don't want to be one of these
Starting point is 00:42:55 because they probably thought it was a good idea when they got it too. Exactly. Anything you want to add to this? Man, I think that's solid advice. I used a similar approach with my husband and I wanted him to stop dipping. I pulled up online.
Starting point is 00:43:06 People that had lost half of their face because they chewed tobacco and their jaw had to get removed. And I think it worked. So I think, man, for an 18 year old to see, like she just is probably, she's in her own little world, she probably thinks tattoos are great, but also, yeah, just examples of bad tattoos.
Starting point is 00:43:23 and people that got them when they were young and they're older, like, is that really something you want? Like, I often wonder if some of these fraternity guys that got their fraternity letters on their ankle from college, like when they're 40, if they regret that. Do you think? I don't know. I guess it just depends on how much it means to them.
Starting point is 00:43:40 Right. You know, mine, I have a bunch on my right arm now. I have the old school microphone that I said I was going to get if I got on the Radio Hall of Fame. Which is your newest? I have my grandmother and my mom's initials. I have the state of Arkansas on the back. of arm and I have in small type on the back of my elbow mirror ball from one-on-one
Starting point is 00:43:56 dancing with the stars. But it all looks exactly the same. It's all the same style. No color. It's all black and white. And also I'm 39. Yeah. I don't get much time left anyway. So I'm good. I feel like I'm pretty solid with mine because I didn't make any real risks, I feel. So, Diana, that's what we're going to say do. Show her bad ones. The hashtag on Instagram, bad tattoos pretty good. I don't even want to look at that. If you, Morgan number two, if they want to get on the mailbag, what do they do? Mailbag at bobbybones.com. All right, there you go.
Starting point is 00:44:28 Thank you very much. And that was Bobby's Mailbag. These are the biggest songs in country music as of right now. And number three, riding roads, Dustin Lynch. That was last week's number one. And he'll be in on Friday show. Is he still coming in with his parents? As far as we know, unless something happens,
Starting point is 00:44:49 Dustin Lynch will be in with his mom and dad on Friday. That'll be fun. Right? Yeah. At number two, Dan and Shea, 10,000 hours. And at number one, Lady Annabellum, what if I never get over you? That one took a second, but I like it now. It's so good.
Starting point is 00:45:13 And what stinks is it's just now starting to hit with people and then it goes away. Because the chart's broken and all the record labels do it a dumb way. But it's now, like just now I'm starting to go, that's a jam. And then we're just not playing it now because the record label wants you to go to the next song. Ryan Hurd wrote that. our friend Ryan Hurd, and he'll be on Friday to talk about that too. Biggest pop song is Post Malone Circles. And the biggest hip-hop song is from Da Baby.
Starting point is 00:45:41 Oh, Da Baby, I saw him on SNL. Bop. Yeah. Yeah. My wife's a swerving. My wife's a swerving. You have like 30 dancers on stage when I saw. 30 dancers?
Starting point is 00:45:53 30. I went and saw Nellie once do a show, and I couldn't. There were so many people on stage. I had trouble finding Nellie. He's the going with the bandit. No, I know, but there were like 25 people. And all the 20, like the other 24, yeah, uh-huh, uh-huh, yeah, Nelly. They all have mics.
Starting point is 00:46:09 Yeah, everybody had a mic, and I couldn't find Nelly. And eventually he would come up front. But he, everyone should wear, like, one color. And then Nelly should wear, like, one of those outfits that, like, road construction do. So they stick out. And like, there he is. That's him right there. That's him.
Starting point is 00:46:24 But I just remember, it was Austin Music Hall. It was Nelly. And he was out in, And underlay, underlay, mama, I-ia, yeah, yeah. Oh, and there was like tracks and 47 guys and people. Is it a good show, but I didn't quite know who was singing and who was it. That's funny. The latest from Nashville and Hollywood. Morgan number two, 30 second skinny.
Starting point is 00:46:45 Brooks and Dunn are hitting the road again for their reboot 2020 tour. It will be their first nationwide tour in 10 years. The tour kicks off May 15th in St. Louis. Brent Young doesn't mind cooking, but he has backup in case he fails. I think as far as guys go, I'm decent in the kitchen. I do enjoy cooking. So I'm really fortunate. Both my mom, my mother-in-law, and my now-wife are all very good in the kitchen.
Starting point is 00:47:08 So anything I screw up, they've got like a backup item. Teneo Towns announced a new EP coming out on February 7th. It's called The Road to the Lemonade Stand. I'm Morgan number two. That's your skinny. It's time for the good news. With Bobby. Tell me something good.
Starting point is 00:47:26 These brothers, Mike and Nick, quit their jobs back in 2016. and found a way to help the homeless people they saw on the streets in New York City. They started Blankets of Hope, a nonprofit that provides blankets to people in need and encourages kindness in schools. Each blanket comes with an inspiring handwritten note from students, and they've given away over 20,000 so far. They worked with 150 schools in 32 states, and their goal is to hand out another 20,000 throughout this winter. The light ball went off when Nick's fifth grade teacher saw a news story about the adult brothers giving away blankets. And so she started reaching out. It's just these guys just came together
Starting point is 00:48:00 With the GoFundMe and you can get involved too Adults can get involved There's a GoFundMe page Search Blankets for Hope And the brothers then go buy them for five bucks a piece And spread them out They've done over 20,000 Wow
Starting point is 00:48:13 The organization is an official non-profit So don't worry about them stealing your money Because I do worry about that But when they say they're official Nonprofit Yeah, yeah yeah That means like 501C3 5101C3 legit so clearly it's all good
Starting point is 00:48:26 Well listen I love people making a difference in lives and blankets of hope is what it's all about and nice job to those guys. That was Tell Me Something Good. Bobby Bones Show. Boneyhead. This story comes to us from Kennewick, Washington. A man was going to break into a business, but he didn't want to draw attention so he parked his truck across the street, but he left the keys in the truck. Goes to break in the business and why he's doing the breaking in, someone stole his truck.
Starting point is 00:48:54 Oh, that's funny. So he gets out and he's like, what do I do? He calls police and they come and they reveal, they look at the surveillance video and they're like, well, it shows you breaking into the business across the street. I can't believe that. Man, what are the odds? The surveillance video showed someone breaking in his truck, but it also showed him leaving his truck going to break in the building. It's awesome.
Starting point is 00:49:13 You just kind of have to take the truck as a loss, huh? Yeah. Or do you go somewhere else where there aren't cameras and say your truck was stolen so insurance covers it? And there's no security, but you don't get busted either. Dang, that's next level thinking. That's probably what I would do. Oh, gosh. How'd you even think about it?
Starting point is 00:49:27 That's so smart. But this guy didn't think of that because he's a bonhead. Sometimes how your brain thinks of things, you're ever like, how do I think of that? I just thought we all probably were thinking that. No, not at all. I would have just walked away. No. I would have just gone to jail.
Starting point is 00:49:40 All right. I was like, well, learn my love. I'm much back. That's your bonehead story of the day. Come on, Bobby. All right, so we googled easy riddles for kids. This is what came up, all these riddles. Again, just so you know the parameters, Amy.
Starting point is 00:50:02 These are riddles for kids ages five to ten years old. Wow. Okay. Right in our wheelhouse. So they're not complicated. Yeah. No. So we should totally get them all.
Starting point is 00:50:10 Yeah. It's a game we call riddle me this. My voice is still low and shock from that show. I don't want to go at it that hard. So I'll ask you a kid's riddle if you get it. You're staying in the game. Amy goes, then lunchbox goes, then Eddie goes. Are you ready, Amy, at first?
Starting point is 00:50:27 Yes. I have wings. I am able to fly. I'm not a bird, yet I sore. in the sky. What am I? I have wings. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:44 I am able to fly. I am not a bird, yet I soar high in the sky. What am I? An airplane. Ooh, an airplane. Correct. You're still in the game.
Starting point is 00:50:56 Thank you. Go over to the lunchbox. What has ears, but cannot hear? What has ears, but cannot hear? 15 seconds, you're on the clock. That's a corn cob.
Starting point is 00:51:12 I hear a corn is correct. Oh, wow. Eddie. Come on. I have two legs, but they only touch the ground while I'm at rest. What am I?
Starting point is 00:51:25 I have two legs. Just two. But they only touch the ground when I am at rest. What am I? 15 seconds on the clock starts now. Gosh, this is tough. I went straight to bed,
Starting point is 00:51:38 but that has four legs while I'm at rest. Two legs. Crutches? No, I'm sorry. Dang it! The answer is at Wilbarrow. Oh.
Starting point is 00:51:57 Of course. After round one, Amy and Lunchbox remain and riddle me this. Amy. I do not speak. But there is no word I cannot make. What am I? riddle me this.
Starting point is 00:52:16 I do not speak, but there is no word I cannot make. What am I? What? Make a word. You make a word. 15 seconds on the clock starts now. Like a computer or typewriter or a promise.
Starting point is 00:52:31 I do not speak, but there is no word I cannot make. Promise. The alphabet. Ooh. Lunchbox you can win it with this. Ugh. All right.
Starting point is 00:52:48 I have shiny fangs. My bloodless bite will bring together what's mostly white. What am I? What? I have shiny fangs. My bloodless bite will bring together what's mostly white. I have shiny fangs. What am I?
Starting point is 00:53:08 15 seconds on the clock starts now. You're going to read it again. Bloodless bite. I have shiny fangs. My bloodless bite will bring together what's mostly white. What am I? Eddie, don't, because you're about to say it out. I don't know what it is.
Starting point is 00:53:29 You're about to say it. A fork. I have no idea. Do you know it? It's a stapler. I have shiny fangs. Oh, yeah, yeah. My bloodless bite will bring the other what's mostly white. Paper.
Starting point is 00:53:41 So we're at a tie here. We're going to do sudden death. Amy and Lunchbox for the win. Just say your name if you know it. Riddle me this. I am used in most sports. have four holes come in many different colors
Starting point is 00:53:59 and there is a state that shares my name. What am I? I have four holes. Is that right? I'm trusting Mike. Mike gives me these. I'm used in many sports. I have four holes.
Starting point is 00:54:14 I am used in most sports. Okay. Have four holes. Okay. Come in many different colors and there is a state that shares my name. What am I? Riddle me this. Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana.
Starting point is 00:54:38 Anybody, you have 10 seconds? Alabama. You're used in many sports. I am used in most sports. I have four holes. Come in many different colors. And there is a state that shares my name. I'm...
Starting point is 00:55:00 Nothing, huh? No, I'm trying to think of a state that... Oh, New Jersey! Amy! What? Amy, New Jersey! Jersey! Jersey! Does the jersey have four holes? Two for the arm, one for the head, one for the hips. Is that where the holes come from? Yes. The four holes? Yes. Wow! A jersey? Crazy. There she is. Jersey, baby.
Starting point is 00:55:22 Jersey baby. That's tough. I'm not good at riddles anyway. I don't think the four holes would have thrown me. Yeah. That's two arms, neck and the body. Never would have got that. Amy, what helped you? The states? Well, she's up there doing every time. Arkansas, Alabama. Yeah, but then, I don't know, the four hole, when I started a picture of jersey with the sleeves and the,
Starting point is 00:55:50 and then I was like Jersey, and then I was like, New Jersey. We heard all that part. I know. Yeah, he showed your work for sure. Thank you. You're so smart. Well, Eddie asked me how. Well, there's our winner.
Starting point is 00:55:58 Bobby Bones. A lot of people are enjoying this Bobbycast with Shay from Dan and Shea. So I did an hour and 15 minutes. It was just a one-on-one talk. I have a whole show that I do from my house called the Bobbycast. And so Shea was talking about getting an Instagram message that he got from a fan who saw them play at a pizza place really early on. Because they played in town at this place called Sol Shine Pizza. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:22 There's no one there. Yeah, and they had a picture of them playing there. Here's that. And it said, I saw these guys, and we were doing this round at Sol Shine Pizza. And she was like, I saw these guys play around, you know, however long ago in 2013. And now I just bought a ticket to see them at Bridgestone. And it kind of took me back for a second because I was just like, man, this is just as they think it's, it's, cool. A lot of times you're so busy with building it that it's hard to look back. And I saw that
Starting point is 00:56:46 picture and immediately in that moment, it was just like, well, that's, that's heavy. He said that they got paid that night in pizza. They didn't even get paid money, that they played and got to play and then got pizza as payment. Gosh, that's awesome. Here's one other clip because I asked Shay, who is the front singer of Dan and Shay, that people Google them a lot and the question is who makes more, Dan or Shea? Does Shea get paid more than Dan? Yeah, that was in the deal. I was like, look. If I'm going to sing.
Starting point is 00:57:15 If I'm going to do this, you know, you might do most of the work, but this is how it's going to be. I assume there's a split. It's an even split. As far as I know, maybe he does. I don't know. So check it out. It's the newest Bobbycast with Shay of Dan and Shay.
Starting point is 00:57:29 Just search Bobbycast wherever you listen to your podcasts, preferably IHartRadio, but it's everywhere, but really enjoyed my time with him. I think we're talking about food. Even in the morning when I talk about pizza, Even if I'm breakfast thinking, it makes me want like pizza. I'm with you. And for some reason, I can eat pepperoni pizza for breakfast,
Starting point is 00:57:48 which I really can't do because our palettes are so weird. There's nothing about our taste buds that we should think we want breakfast food for breakfast. Again, we've been conditioned to think we want eggs, bacon, sausage, that kind of stuff for breakfast. We should be able to just have fried okra. Anything. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But because of that, let's do a food world with Morgan number two. She's standing by right now.
Starting point is 00:58:13 It's time for Food World. Num, Num, Num, with Morgan number two. So Buffalo Wild Wings is debuting a new deal. So on every Thursday, all year long and for the foreseeable future, you can go in and get buy one, get one free of any size boneless wings. Wait, that's not like a month thing? Like until they shut it down, is buy one, get one free? Yep, until whenever they decide not to do it anymore.
Starting point is 00:58:38 How do we feel about boneless wings, though? Love them. Really? I kind of feel like they've been genetically altered and I don't like that. I mean, the bone, I do enjoy eating a wing with a bone, but it's just the bones, it's kind of a hassle. I agree, it's a hassle. And I agree. But for some reason in my mind, if I'm eating the meat off the bone, it feels like it's original. The boneless wing feels like it was made in some lab. But is a boneless wing technically a nugget? I have no idea.
Starting point is 00:59:05 Because that's a nugget. Well, Morgan number two used to work at Buffalo Wild Wing. That's right. Did you guys know that? Yeah, I did. Do you know if those are nuggets or wings? They're basically nuggets. I mean, you could say that they're both.
Starting point is 00:59:17 They intermixed. I didn't know that. Yeah. I like the boneless wings a little better now. But still, it's not the same part of the bird, I guess, as the real wing, right? Yeah. What would you prefer, the boneless or the bone in? Well, I did try when I used to work there since I don't eat meat.
Starting point is 00:59:32 I did try a honey barbecue boneless wing when I worked there. You worked at Buffalo Wild Wings and didn't eat meat. No. And so, but I did try a honey barbecue bonus wing And I have to say I actually really liked it Did you get free wings working there if you wanted them? No, you only got, but you could eat like for 50% off every night So that was like the deal that you got.
Starting point is 00:59:51 Well, if you got buy one, get one free, get the free one And then the 50% off is the one you had to pay for You can rock all those Okay, that's food world How did you like working at Buffalo Wild Wings? I loved it. What job did you have? Well, I went from a host
Starting point is 01:00:08 to a takeout person, to like, an expo serving food to a server. So I went through all of the jobs there. If you were doing takeout and you got tips, how much does that affect your day in a positive way? It definitely made me happy. I think if you can, you should. It's not necessary. You know, they're not getting paid that really low salary like servers. But I think if you can, they're still putting in a lot of work.
Starting point is 01:00:31 I put together a lot of big, especially people watching football. Like, I put together a lot of big meals for people coming to pick up wing. What's the most notable job that you had before radio? One job, Amy. Selling granite. Yeah. Lunch bikes. What does notable mean?
Starting point is 01:00:47 Like, most... Just... Revolent? I don't think that word... Like, honor-y, honor? What's the job you had before radio? I would say, a cart guy at Sam's Club for three years. All I did was pick up shopping carts out of the parking lot.
Starting point is 01:01:01 Eddie? I was a TV guy, man. I was a cameraman. I was a reporter for a little bit. Barry early on. just being in TV, news, informing people. The one job that kind of defined you before you came to radio, Morgan, number two?
Starting point is 01:01:14 It would be Buffalo, Wild Wings. Raymundo? Yeah, I was maybe more well-known. I was a public address announcer in Central Texas. So I was the voice of Texas State Athletic. He was maybe more well-known than he just said. Do you think more people knew you from being the PA announcer at Texas State than being on a national radio show?
Starting point is 01:01:32 Didn't you announce like ice skating or something? Then I also did ice skating in San Antonio. I was kidding. I mean, this show's bigger, obviously. Mine is my most known, probably Hobby Lobby. Yeah. Oh, yeah. I had a bunch of jobs, though.
Starting point is 01:01:45 I had a bunch of jobs. Open doors to the future for you and your family with the help of American Military University. That's AMU. APUS.org slash military. Here's Amy's pile of stories. Okay, so I have to tell you about this new sandwich
Starting point is 01:04:33 that Dunkin' Donuts is offering, they've teamed up with Snoop Dog because apparently Snoop Dog has a passion for plant-based protein. Is that mean like plant-based protein? Oh, right. Yeah. And he has a love of glazed donuts.
Starting point is 01:04:47 So they have created a breakfast sandwich. It's called the Beyond D-O-D-O-G sandwich. And it's crazy. It has donuts as the bun, the Beyond Meat Patty in the middle with like egg and cheese, and it's 530 calories, 32 grams of fat. You know, there's this place that I go.
Starting point is 01:05:07 I may go once a week, and it's here in town. And on the weekend, if I'm here, I go to this place called True Food, right? It's a chain. They have them in a bunch of cities. I'm just going to compare this. And they have these quinoa pancakes that are very filling to me. They're so good. But they're only 500 calories.
Starting point is 01:05:23 And they're big and they're very filling. 500 calories. This little dang donut thing is 500-something calories of just bad food. Mm-hmm. I'm just thinking about how, because you're supposed to get 2,000 calories a day. That's the recommended caloric intake is 2,000 calories. And if you're talking about these two glades, I mean, that's a quarter of all you're supposed to eat all day. Yeah, it's four of them.
Starting point is 01:05:43 It's it. But would you try to have more than one if you were going to get one? No, no, no, that's a lot. I just wouldn't want to try a bite and that's it. I would rather have the pancakes is my thing. These quinole pancakes are so good. They're banana quinole pancakes. Okay, that sounds good.
Starting point is 01:05:56 They're so good, and they're 500 calories, and they fill me up, and I'm pretty much good for like eight hours. But I bet that's good. But is the plant and plant, plant, the beyond meat in this? Is it the Snoop Dog? Oh, special plant? No, no, no, no. If you do want to try this, the promotion is only going on until Sunday. So get yourself to a Dunkin.
Starting point is 01:06:15 And Chick-fil-A, speaking of food, they're giving out free chicken nuggets all January long for its loyalty program. So all you have to do, this is a way for them to get you to get their app, which, hey, I just thought I'd let you know about it in case. but you order through the app or their loyalty program on there, and then boom, you get your free nuggets for January. So if you're looking for free food. I'm always looking for free food. Of course. And then do you eat Cheetos ever?
Starting point is 01:06:43 Be honest. Maybe once every two years. I'm just trying to think I don't know the last time. But I would say maybe once every couple of years. What about Pyra's booty? Don't know what that is. It leaves a Cheeto like residue, but it's like a healthier version. Yeah, not the same.
Starting point is 01:06:59 What's Pirates booty? You've never had Pirates Rudy? It's a puff-chip. I feel like if Bobby is introduced to Pirates Rudy, he might not stop. You can't interest me to anything that I like because I will not stop. Because I've been having so many grapefruit and waterloo. I have to cut myself off on that because there's too much sugar in that. I just want to have one drink in night, half grapefruit juice, half waterloo sparkling water, full of ice.
Starting point is 01:07:20 But now I have like six a day. I had to take it and get out of my house. I can't have anything in moderation. No Pirates butt. Pirates booty. Moody, thank you. Why are you asking me this? Okay, well, Cheetos announce that they have an official name now for the dusty cheese residue that's left on your fingers. So instead of just being like, I got Cheeto residue on my fingers, the term officially is Cheatel.
Starting point is 01:07:43 I got to go watch my, I got to go watch the Cheatle off my hands. It won't, no, dusty cheese residue? That's been around too long for them to be throwing a name on it now. Yeah, they should have done that from the beginning. I know, what took them so long? 64. Well, do you actually know when Cheetos were first released? No.
Starting point is 01:08:00 1984. Was it an accident? I don't know. Oh. You know, a lot of those products from back then were accidentally made. They were trying to make something else. That's right. Yeah, or some stuff were like the wars, like World War, whatever, one or two.
Starting point is 01:08:15 Like they would, yeah, be experimenting different things and packaging and realize, like, oh, maybe we can make this with the leftovers. I do love Cheetos. I do love cheese puffs. Oh, so good. To cheese puffs are good Yeah, what about playing it hot? I don't know if I've ever had them Ooh, I'll get you a bag tomorrow
Starting point is 01:08:31 I'll bring it No, no, I'll, I'll, I can't It'll be a little bag, that way you don't eat a lot No, no, no, no, then I will make a call And get 10 bags sent to me I can't, I can't do that Oh yeah, he did that the other day About something I was eating
Starting point is 01:08:42 Did you know that? Did you ever get your chips? Your CSA chips? Let me tell you a little story real quick I'm glad we can pause for a second Amy has these Ciette Christmas chips and they're cinnamon crisps.
Starting point is 01:08:57 Oh, they taste like the Taco Bell cinnamon twists, but like healthy. No, no, no, they're not healthy. Healthyer ingredients, slow down. But they're not healthy. Okay, you're right. I would say, yes, if you have one serving, it's fine. If you eat the whole bag, probably not fine.
Starting point is 01:09:09 But the ingredients are all quality. But there's cinnamon, again, not healthy, but healthier for a chip. Gotcha. Yes. So I have some Amy's and I'm like, well, how about that? Pretty good. So you can't buy them in a store. And apparently Amy knows these people.
Starting point is 01:09:23 So they say, hey, I'll send you. you some to your house. They send me this humongous box of eight full-sized bags. I'm not kidding. When in the first day I had three bags of them. So I'm like, well, and I don't want to waste food. I'm like, I shouldn't do this. So the next day I have another bag. I'm four bags in a day and a half. I have started giving them away to Christmas presents. Yeah, you gave one to me. Yeah. He was like, hey, hey, try one of these. I'm like, this is good. Here, take the bag. You want another bag? If you don't get it out of my house, I'm going to eat the whole thing. I think I had
Starting point is 01:09:47 six bags of those chips and gave two of them away. They were really good, though. They were the best chips I've ever had in my life. All right. Is that it, Amy? Yeah, it was kind of a little food edition pile, but yes, it's done. All right. Do that thing where you say, that's Amy, that's my pile. Oh, I'm Amy. That's my pile. That was Amy's pile of stories. It's time for the good news.
Starting point is 01:10:06 With Amy. Tell me something good. So in New Hampshire, an anonymous donor stepped up and gave safety goggles to local police dogs. And I want you to look at this picture of this police dog with goggles. Is it not the cutest thing you've ever seen? It is. I like dogs wearing anything human. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:10:24 And that's a good one. I didn't even know this was a thing, but goggles help protect them from debris when they're out in the field and can be super, super helpful. But obviously, they have, police departments have other things they need to spend money on. So when a donor sent these in, they were like, wow, we're so impressed by this. This is awesome. We need all our dogs to have it. So they match the donation. Now all the dogs have goggles.
Starting point is 01:10:47 What up. To protect their eyes. You know, that's why we're, well, for a lot of my life, that's why I wore glasses. One of my eyes doesn't work. And so the other eye had to be protected all the time. And so that's why I started wearing glasses. Now I wear them because my other eyes going bank too. But I wore them for the most part of my life because I just had one good eye.
Starting point is 01:11:04 And if I got debris like this poor dog, I was done for. Shout out to them, though. That's what it's all about. That was Tell Me Something Good. Come on, Bobby. Let's go over to Amy. She's got the joke. Now time for the morning corny.
Starting point is 01:11:30 The morning corny. Why did chicken coops always have two doors? Why do chicken coops always have two doors? With four, they'd be chicken sedans. Okay, that's pretty fun. There it is. Nice. That was the morning corny.
Starting point is 01:11:48 All right, let's go talk to Ronnie and South Carolina who's on the phone. Ronnie, what's happening? Hey, man. What's on, Bobby? What's up, dude? Morning studio. Morning. How you guys doing?
Starting point is 01:11:59 You know, we're good. I'm going to be honest, Ronnie. I'm a little beat this morning because Monday, night we had that show, the Raging Idiots Music show, I didn't get in until one in the morning, you know, got up before, all day yesterday, working and catching up, and then I stayed up and watched Barry Girls last night.
Starting point is 01:12:14 I did have to watch my episode on Nat Geo. You have to do that. And that was at 9 Central, so I didn't get to bed. I went off that waterfall. I was like, my adrenaline was pumped. Did you like have, relive any of that, like in your body? Wow, that's crazy. Yeah. So last night, you know, I stayed up
Starting point is 01:12:30 and watched Barry Girls, Ronnie, so I'm good. I'm grateful to be here, but I'm a little tired today. Yeah, man. I'll usually go to bed about 830 or 7. I said, no, man, I got a set much before it, Bobby. I'm, man.
Starting point is 01:12:41 I'm 51 years old, dude. Y'all inspired me every day. You're a great inspiration of my life. All you guys are great and awesome. I love y'all. And what y'all do every day, man, is just awesome. I appreciate that, Ron.
Starting point is 01:12:52 All the stories, everything that you do, everything that you say. I try to put it into my life every day. And hopefully it gets better some days it does. Some days it doesn't get. But, yeah, man, I stay. Last night, why I should have thought it was lost.
Starting point is 01:13:06 Yeah, what did you think about that? Because, again, I'm in northern Norway. It's cold. It's wet. I'm having to eat dead sheep and rotted dead sheep. Jump off of cliffs. You're watching that show. What was going on in your mind?
Starting point is 01:13:22 I don't want to what the sheep taste is like. Well, so here's what happened. And I can talk about it a little later, too, if anyone has questions about that show. But we are running through this really cold, what he calls a bog. And so it's a lot of like really cold water with like swamp-like conditions,
Starting point is 01:13:39 but it's super cold. And usually when I think of swamp, I think I like Florida. But it's freezing cold. It's like a swamp in the cold. And there's something far away. And I see it, but then he knows, then he's like, oh, that's a dead sheet
Starting point is 01:13:51 that has tried to go through and got stuck in the bog. And it was halfway underwater and disgusting. We pulled it up and it was rotted. Now, lucky for me, and as you could see on the show, I knew how to clean it. And so as soon as I got a knife, I was like, oh, I can clean it. I don't want to eat it, but I'll clean it.
Starting point is 01:14:06 So I was able to clean a lot of the back end of it off. Who knows how long it had been there because it was disgusting. And then we took it over and I put in my backpack and we hiked the rest of the night. There's no night there, by the way. It's daytime all the all the time. We hiked the rest of the day until night. And we cooked it and it tasted like anything else that you would cook that's meat that you would cook on an open fire.
Starting point is 01:14:27 Like it wasn't gross. The idea of it was far more gross than the actual taste of it. There was no taste. but it would be like if we were out and we killed squirrel and had to cook it then. It would go, well, it tastes like meat. But at that point, we were just looking for any sort of sustenance because there was no food out there. So like if you had not found the sheep. Plants.
Starting point is 01:14:46 Okay. I didn't know if y'all had like, you know, little meals in your backpack just in case. No Twinkies. No little Debbie assortments back there. Yeah, there was no food. That was part of it. And, you know, going into that show, they go, hey, you may not eat for 20s. 24 hours. If you can't find anything, are you okay with that? And I was like, yeah, listen,
Starting point is 01:15:07 I like to have my meals, but if this is part of the experience, you know, let her rip. Because again, if you're not eating and you're hungry, you're complaining about it, it's probably good TV. Yeah. But most times, we were looking for some weird plant or bird eggs. I don't know that was on the show where he talked about trying to find bird eggs, but bird eggs was something that he thought we could find. And we ended up finding a rotted dead sheep carcass. But the bottom of it was cold. So that's why it was okay? Okay.
Starting point is 01:15:34 The bottom of it was underneath the water and was cold and fresh. The top of it was rotted. So we pulled it out. Yeah. Yeah, Ronnie, so it tastes fine. The idea of it was gross, but it tasted fine. Well, it was a great show, man. I'm really proud of you did a great job going out of the element like that, and I think
Starting point is 01:15:55 you did it real well. Well, I appreciate that. It just goes to the show, you know, what strong. mentality you have to overcome just about any obstacle it gets in your way. And that's what really gets me, man. And it's such an inspiration. I think we all have that mentality.
Starting point is 01:16:09 We got to be pressed to see how strong we are, but I think when we get pressed as humans, and I think that's really the only time we find out how tough, how strong, how resilient we are is when we get pressed. We never want to be pressed, but we learn so much about ourselves. And listen, I was doing a TV show
Starting point is 01:16:23 in the end I knew I was going to be fine. Well, that cliff, I could have died. But other than that, you know, I was like, okay, I'm in good hands. But it's real life stuff where we get pressed every day. It's real life stuff that they were constantly getting stronger from. You know, I said something on the show last night
Starting point is 01:16:36 that I believe, and I don't remember what I was talking about. Like, I don't remember a lot of those conversations because I'm in the middle of it. And I really believe this. I used to think about the struggles that I had in my life growing up, from my mom's addiction, to
Starting point is 01:16:52 not having a dad, to a lot of the financial things that I wasn't able to have. But I'm so grateful for them now because I'm so, so much stronger because of that. Like, I wouldn't be here today if I didn't have all of that and I'm grateful for
Starting point is 01:17:08 being pushed when I was younger. Because I wouldn't have the empathy for people. I don't think I would care to help people if I didn't know what it was like to be helped. If that makes sense. It does. So, yeah, it was great. I don't like
Starting point is 01:17:24 watching me on stuff. I didn't watch a single episode Dancing with Stars when I was on it. I couldn't watch me. I'd go and evaluate clips. of my dancing and I would appreciate it. I don't watch American Idol me back on it, but I watched that show last night. I was pretty proud of it. He should be.
Starting point is 01:17:38 It was very good, man. I enjoyed it. And you know what? I appreciate you staying up late and like altering your life to watch me on that show, Ronnie. So thank you very much. Yeah, man. Thank you guys for every day. And keep going, keep doing what you do because y'all are doing a great job. I love all of y'all. All right, Ronnie. Thank you very much, man.
Starting point is 01:17:54 Appreciate you, bud. All right, man. Y'all have a good one now. All right. See you later. Bye. I was going to hit him with the appreciate you. Do I have this up? Appreciate you Cliff anymore, Mike, or no? I was going to hit him with the Appreciate You button, but it's not on my wall anymore.
Starting point is 01:18:08 I have... You! That's Ray Mundo hit that, but I appreciate. Hey, Ray, here we go. Hey, Ronnie, appreciate you! You! Thank you. So how did your son come across Fortnite?
Starting point is 01:18:22 I don't really know. I know that my cousins have it, but I didn't think Stevenson was really done. dialed in to what it was. And then his first day at school, he came home talking about Fortnite. So I don't know if it must have been a conversation at school too. And then he started to put two and two together that this is what kids do. Because it has never been an issue. Ever.
Starting point is 01:18:44 Yeah. Well, he's nine. And I know that a lot of kids play it. And it's huge for years now. And I kind of been like, I'm never going to have to worry about that with my kids. And he got an iPad for Christmas. And he came home from school and asked if he could. could download or put Fortnite on it.
Starting point is 01:19:00 I didn't know how it got on there. And I said, oh, I don't think it's equipped for that. I don't. Listen, I have Fortnite. I haven't played it in months, right? Mine's on a video game system. I don't know if an iPad can hold Fortnite. I have no idea either.
Starting point is 01:19:12 Mike, it can? Is it a smaller version? Oh, it's different. So you're not playing the same people? But it's still Fortnite, which I think can be really addictive, right? Fortnite has a rating of 12 P-E-G-L. Oh, so he's not. not even old enough.
Starting point is 01:19:29 Frequent scenes of mild violence. It's not suitable for persons under 12 years of age. You can just say that. I mean, it's violence. It's video game violence and it's shooting from far away. You let him have a fake gun and be a policeman. I don't really see difference in that. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:19:43 I mean, I don't think I'm that concerned with it. I mean, I would see how he handled it. And if anything, this personality started to alter because of the video game, I'd monitor that, but I don't know that I'm on that train. But let me throw this wrinkle at you. What? because he is going to a new school with a lot of friends
Starting point is 01:20:01 what if he's not able to bond over what all the kids are bonding about he's not able to be in because he's going to struggle making friends from a different country doesn't have wonderful English maybe they don't understand it and what if he doesn't have in common with them
Starting point is 01:20:17 the most common thing which is playing that dumb Fortnite and I say that in a loving way it's a dumb Fortnite game do you think about that well I am now and I don't think you have I don't play for four hours.
Starting point is 01:20:28 Right. Okay. I mean, it's just something to consider. I just don't know. I don't know enough about it because, again, I was a mom that it was just never even a topic of conversation in our house. And then I just laughed because, you know, day one at school. And then it's like, oh, yeah, could I get Fortnite? How prevalent it is, though, day one at school.
Starting point is 01:20:48 So, yeah, I guess. I don't know if any other parents are out there, they can just hit me up and let me know, like, what, how they regulate Fortnite and what they do. And what the iPad version is like, is it cost money? No, I think it's in-game purchases. Yeah, so it's free on the iPad. I can only imagine the accidental in-game purchases that get made. Can we turn that off? I believe you can turn that off.
Starting point is 01:21:12 Okay. Sure. All right. He's going to be playing naked. He's going to be doing naked with karate chops. But every day, what's the difference? He has to buy an outfit? I think you can buy outfits.
Starting point is 01:21:20 Oh. Poor guys. He's running in his underwear, just like, punching people. But you look at it today. Give us an update in the next few days. Okay. Starting point is 01:24:38 She teaches young kids and she said Let him play Fortnite, just monitor it And then she's like, he can play with Vinny, which is her son So anyway, apparently all the kids do it. Eddie? Yeah, I mean, my husband big hack was it was kind of easy the way it happened, but I don't know anything about it, didn't know anything about it. So we downloaded the free version and apparently the free
Starting point is 01:24:59 version is terrible. But they think that's the real version. So they're like, this game's terrible. I'm not going to play it anymore. Oh. Especially if he wants it on an iPad. Now, if he wants it on a PS4 or Xbox, it's a whole different story. Okay. Well, Eddie, that scenario takes care of the problem of him wanting to play. But then Bobby, what you set up with me and him and building relationships and bonding with other kids at school. That doesn't help. I can't have him go to school and be like, that game is horrible. Why? He's still getting
Starting point is 01:25:25 to play? And maybe he won't think it's horrible. And my kids did it and they would just argue with their friends and they're like, okay, cool. All right. Well, you don't like it. Oh, okay. And then he's not feeling like he's missing out either. Okay. Well, I was looking for him to bond with people. Miranda and Louisiana. You're on the show. What's happening? Hey, good morning, Bobby. Morning.
Starting point is 01:25:43 Morning. Morning. So, Amy, I have a 12-year-old son, and I am, I've always been very strict about what he's allowed to watch and listen to and read and things like that. And so, Fortnite was a big no-no for me because it was first-person shooter was the only thing that I knew. It's kind of a first-person shooter type thing. So I was really, you know, leery about it at first, and I finally gave in to him. And we do limit time. I will say that. he has specific times of the day that he can play and only specific people that he can play with.
Starting point is 01:26:19 And he has really seen the value of teamwork. And being that he's an only child, learning the value of teamwork is hard until you actually get into a situation where what they call a W or a win depends on it. And that's really grown for him. And then hand-eye coordination is another thing that has just really improved for him as well. I've seen his basketball skills improve from his hand-eye coordination with the video game. And I really think that it would be a good thing for Stevenson. And if you just monitor it, just like anything else that we allow our kids to do, limited time and make it a privilege, it could really help his social skills as well.
Starting point is 01:26:59 Oh, wow. Yeah. Okay. I had no idea. Hey, thank you, Miranda. I appreciate that call. Thank you. Absolutely.
Starting point is 01:27:07 Thank you guys for everything you do every day. You guys are awesome. We love you. Thank you very much. I mean, and she sounds like a good mom. Can you tell her, kind of her voice? I can hear in her voice. Let me do one more call.
Starting point is 01:27:16 Mark in Arkansas is on the phone. Hey, Mark, welcome to the Bobby Bone Show. What's up, dude? Good morning, Bobby. Good morning. It's video. Morning. I just wanted to tell him in on Amy's son playing the video game.
Starting point is 01:27:28 Go ahead. I started playing video games all of his life. We used it as a tool to encourage good grades, and we took it away from him if he did and maintain them. and I don't think it's a bad deal. Just regulate his time on them and let him let him go with the flow. He's, and appreciate what y'all do for the radio and for the people working so all and around. And y'all got a great show.
Starting point is 01:27:54 Keep up to good work. You know, I can tell by his voice, he's a good dad. The texture of his voice, that's a good dad voice. Hey, I appreciate that call, Mark, have a good day. Okay, so, my friend, apparently there's dancing on the video games. My friend says that he'll be. be in the know on all the like dances that kids are doing at the moment like whatever's hot. There's a lot of dancing on that game. They do dances. You push a button a little combo and they
Starting point is 01:28:16 dance. Okay. So let them play or what? I'm always a let them play. I'm yes on that. Okay. And it's an iPad. It's a small version. Well, I mean, I got to talk to my husband. I mean, and don't worry about it. I got a cover. All right. Um, the rock and roll hall of fame has announced the official 2020 induction class. And I tell you who didn't make it, who I was really hoping will make it is Dave Matthews band. And they did not make it. They won the fan of all. They didn't make it. They are just one of the most musically influential
Starting point is 01:28:49 groups of my lifetime. It was crazy. Maybe people get mad this year, so they'll win it next year. Yeah. But I have time, right? I hated that they didn't make it. So, Amy, I'll play you a couple songs. See if you can name. Again, these are supposedly, they, the biggest. These are the people that made it? Meaning the biggest of all time. Rock and roll Hall of Fame. It doesn't have to just be rock and roll. But are you ready?
Starting point is 01:29:08 Ready. Can you name? Let's just play the first one here. Is that familiar? Yes, I know the song. Okay. But I thought these people that sing are already probably in the rock and roll hall of fame. Play the other one?
Starting point is 01:29:27 Come on. Who do you think that is? Does the same people? Mm-hmm. A little wrinkle in that. Oh. Same people, yeah. I give her hand bones?
Starting point is 01:29:46 Yes. It's the same song, by the way. Wait, without a different one. The other ones. Yeah. Where would we be now? No. I like it.
Starting point is 01:29:56 Okay, this sounds like What I love? See, but this person's probably already in it. Who do you think that is? I don't know, like Jimmy Hendrix. Play the other one again, same band. Do you know this song though? I know this one.
Starting point is 01:30:14 Yeah, same band. It's a band. Okay. Well, the second song, they don't sound like the same band. The second song you played is a little more psychedelic. They are. Any guests in off this one?
Starting point is 01:30:26 Well, when this one was playing, I was guessing the Eagles, but. Oh, similar-ish. But then not the next one. The Doobie Brothers. Oh, yeah, I've seen them perform live on a boat, right? That's right. All right, so the Doobie Brothers ran.
Starting point is 01:30:40 Say if you can name, this is not this as a different band. Okay, here we go. Okay, she doesn't know that one. Play the next song, same band. Reach out and touch, Depeche Mode. Wow. Here we go, Amy. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:30:55 My brother used to listen to this song. By the way, there's no reason that Depeche Mode should get an overdate Matthews band. They're older. Yeah, they've been around. I don't give a crap. There isn't... I call a recount. Like I have any implicit.
Starting point is 01:31:08 Russia. Russia guys again. They hacked it. Okay, good. Depecheon-mo made it. Okay. I got a few clips of the next band. Let's see if you can name this.
Starting point is 01:31:20 These are all the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class of 2020. Here you go. Oh, this is... Play the next one? Kind of sounds like Old Town Road to me. This is the sample that used an old town. Oh. Nice.
Starting point is 01:31:56 So, wow. Great. The Old Town Road was that sample taken from this song. Oh, I had no idea. I want to take my host to the Old Town Road. I play one more. Oh, like corn or something? No. They didn't put in the biggest song from this band, which is odd.
Starting point is 01:32:15 But like, we pull it that music now so I can sing the other song. I want to do like an animal. I want to feel you from the inside. Cornflake? No. Nine-inch nails. Nine-inch nails. I thought it was a first.
Starting point is 01:32:31 food. Shoot. Okay. Well, I eat my fingernails. Nine-inch nails. At first I was thinking Nirvana with that whispery one. Whatever that first song they played was. Okay, that's three. We have a couple more. These are all Rock and Roll Hall of Fame new inductees. This one you're going to nail. Here you go. Throw your hands in the air. A few player. Who's that?
Starting point is 01:32:55 Notorious B.I.G. Correct. He's in. That was like dummies. She won't get the next one. Oh, there's no clip. We don't have a clip for T-Rex? Huh? I don't hear what you're saying.
Starting point is 01:33:08 Baby. We can pull it from YouTube or anything? Any reference track at all for T-Rex? We grab one of those for me so we can at least mention it. And then here's one more. I don't think you would have got T-Rex. I don't even know who that is. Like, I don't even know genre.
Starting point is 01:33:31 I mean, rock and roll. But, I mean, Whitney Houston's not. Here we go. That one. Okay. Just clarify something for me real quick. So all those people... I guess it's all. I'm going to start singing. So go ahead and get it in.
Starting point is 01:34:04 Well, all those people were nominated or they're all in? Okay, so they're all going to be inducted. Overday Matthews, man, what a tragedy! But because it's rock and roll, you kind of said this before, but I wasn't paying... All formats. Get it on. They're going to go. Get it home.
Starting point is 01:34:19 I know this now? Yeah. Well, it must be in a commercial. Probably. Classic rock. Hey, who is this, Amy? T. Rex. There you go.
Starting point is 01:34:26 Cool 95 playing all the hits here. We're going to go to T.Rex here. Number three on the chart, 1971. Here they are. T.rex. Bang a gong, baby. What's this song called? Is it called?
Starting point is 01:34:36 Is it called? I don't know what it's the bang a gong? Yeah, bang a gong, get it on. Is it on? Is it on? Is it on? What do you think about that? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:34:56 Get it on! I'm going to break my history. J.C. Pinnies had it as a commercial. That's funny. I know. That's the only way I know it has to be commercial. I know that. And then Doobie Brothers will be listening to Classic Rock Radio.
Starting point is 01:35:11 Ray, give me that intro to Long Train Running. Everybody go. Hey, everybody, welcome to Cool 95. All the hits, Classic Goldies here with you today. It's Rock and Robbie B. coming at you, weather's 62 degrees today. Going to play some Doobie Brothers. inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Starting point is 01:35:26 You know what's going on. Play it up, fill the car with gas. Let's get some dubia on. That's so fun to me. What do you call that? Ramp. Yeah, it's not ramp. Rampant.
Starting point is 01:35:40 I haven't done that in years since I was, like, doing honky radio. I'm so good at that. But, I mean, you have a future in that just in case you need it. Because it doesn't work out anymore? Yeah. Nobody can want to do it. All right. Nice job with the clips.
Starting point is 01:35:52 Amy, fair job at knowing artists. Thank you. Or at least knowing it was a song, like where it came from. She's like, that one sounds more psychedelics. Like I say, good morning, everyone. Oh, morning. Morning. Morning.
Starting point is 01:36:07 Okay. Morning. Except this American Airlines employee, who, who, stalked a passenger at the San Diego airport and then took a passenger's number from her luggage tag followed her onto a flight before bombarding her with 100 creepy text messages. Oh my. I saw this. What? I'd say good morning. Everybody except this person. And what do you think's going to happen though? Like what's the
Starting point is 01:36:30 best case? Do you think you're going to fall in love? I don't know. Sometimes in the movies they do. Well there are two options. You either fall in love or eat them. And it's either really, really creepy and horrible or there's a love story. And then is this stuff first time he's ever done anything weird like this? Why not? Or is it... I mean, there always has to be a first time. Or you just wake up crazy that day. I don't know if you wake up crazy.
Starting point is 01:36:51 But she's right. There always has to be a first time. And I don't know. I wonder... But what are the odds the first time you get caught? And it makes the news. I don't know. An American Airlines employee took a passenger's number from her luggage tag before following her onto a flight and then hitting her with those 100 messages according to a lawsuit. Ashley Barner says the employee identified only as a mom.
Starting point is 01:37:11 told her she was gorgeous and her gray top and explained he got her name, phone number, and address from her carry-on bag. Oh, that dress. Chilling messages go on to show how the worker then joined her on a flight telling her, I'm on board now. Are you going to Chicago too?
Starting point is 01:37:26 No. That's like that show you. Stalker show, right? He has then said to have told a worried Ashley he could get her free flights and access to lounges saying, will you join me? I really like you.
Starting point is 01:37:39 The employee who was not on duty for American at the time had first messaged Ashley asking how she was. She said, sorry, I'm not sure who this is. Quote, the whole time I kept asking him, who are you? How do you know who I am? How did you get my info? I'm going to say it's not a love connection, Vince. You know, but it always is a fine line between bold and bold and romantic and creepy.
Starting point is 01:38:00 And I mean, those lounges are pretty nice. Does this count as shoot your shot? Yeah. There's all the shots. He shot every shot ever. That's too many shots. Like too many bullets came out at the same time, bro. You got to shoot those shots.
Starting point is 01:38:13 You know, there would be a way to make that work, but not in that way. If you get someone's info, you probably go to their Instagram. Hey, saw this link from a friend's page. Want to send you a message. You could probably do it a little more not stalkery. Mm-hmm. But also, too, well, just related to that, it's just a different time where I don't know that you can put your address on your luggage anymore. But if they ship your bag back to your place.
Starting point is 01:38:44 I know, that's the bummer. But now this guy's ruining it for everybody. Now he knows where she lives, too. For everybody? You think he ruined it for everybody? Well, I mean, us getting our luggage back to our house. I read a story that made me think about you. What?
Starting point is 01:38:58 The possible reason your neck and back and shoulders hurt? Oh, okay. Your purse. It could be. I mean, but I don't think that's what mine is. But yes, I do feel like I have certain pains from carrying my purse on my right side all the time. and it's really heavy. The average purse weighs 6.27 pounds
Starting point is 01:39:13 and causing more back pain than you realize. Or it could be because you fell at the airport on ice, which you did. That happened too. And they didn't have an ice sign? Yeah. Yeah, that stinks. That's really what happened. With the ice thing?
Starting point is 01:39:26 Yeah. Oh, for sure. Like if that's why your back is hurting years later, is because you fell at the airport because there was ice and they didn't have it marked? No. They had nothing. I just stepped right out. And a cop saw you fall, right?
Starting point is 01:39:36 Yeah, he came and helped me. He took me back, bandaged me up because I was bleeding. And then you got on the flight all blah. I remember she had her whole backpackaged up. Yeah, you were like, why are you late? I was like, I fell. You're like, oh, typical. It's time for the good news.
Starting point is 01:39:51 With lunchbox. Tell me something good. There was a 17-year-old in England playing video games online, had the headset on chatting with someone in Texas. When the person in Texas starts having a seizure and she's like, what do I do? She contacted authorities 5,000 miles away, send him to the house to save the kid.
Starting point is 01:40:12 Has they were playing a video game, right? Yeah, I guess I guess the kid is 20 years old, but yes, saved his life. To us not to a kid's 20, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Not 39. When I see a 20-year-old, I'm like, that's a kid. Okay, true.
Starting point is 01:40:24 That's crazy. That's what it's all about right there. That was Tell Me Something Good. I marked this story because I thought I'd read it on the show. A new study has found that 60% of couples are unhappy in their relationship. It's a significantly high number. If you would have asked me out of thought maybe 33, like a third, and that's still high to me.
Starting point is 01:40:46 But it's more like two thirds? Yeah, closer to two thirds. They say they're small enjoyments, but overall, most people would characterize their relationship mood as unhappy. According to the respondents, the couple say they aren't intimate as often as they used to. Their partner is no longer affectionate. Another major problem with relationships is when things start to get boring. Most people invest so much time and energy at the start of a relationship, and that tapers off over time, which leads to fights or disagreements.
Starting point is 01:41:14 Relationship experts think these downfalls can be overcome with counseling and constant relationship maintenance. You almost need to treat your relationship the way you treat your job. As long as you make an effort on a daily basis and put in the time, you'll see positive results, which leads to happiness. What does this make you think? I mean, right away, my brain goes to, I just listened to the five love languages dude on Oprah's podcast.
Starting point is 01:41:36 She did like a short 20-minute thing with him, like a live. And of course I've known about those for a long time in his book, but it just reminds me that like when you're in a rut like that, focusing on what is the other person need and what do you need and are you all giving each other that? Because, yeah, just like any relationship, it does take work, but it shouldn't be like super exhausting work. Like a job's like eight hours a day.
Starting point is 01:42:01 But you should be investing in it and you should be... Do you and your husband do these things where you... Yeah, we have to focus on that. Like he knows he's... not giving me, like our love languages are different. Like his is, he needs acts of service where I need affirmation. And then, you know, I think both of us have a little bit of, like I also have touch. But yeah, you have to, like for me, little thing.
Starting point is 01:42:26 I mean, it could be something so little and I'll see our day just take the trajectory will change. Like say it might be negative, but I make him coffee. I mean, that, he's like, this is going to be the best day ever. You just made me coffee. It's like a little act of service. that's just will mean so much. And for me, if he tells me something positive that I need to hear
Starting point is 01:42:46 or affirms me in whatever way, like I can. So we kind of have to reset. And I feel like if you're intentional about that throughout the day, that's a major tool for the 60%. But I think we're all in that. It's a roller coaster at times. I'm just thinking about my love language. I think it's words.
Starting point is 01:43:04 It is? I don't know. I don't know. Oh, no. I never would have pinned you with that. so I don't think I'm good at it. Because even as a friend, you can deliver. I'm not sure.
Starting point is 01:43:14 Okay. Maybe it's I need words and areas that I'm not confident in. I'm confident in this. Like, I feel like I'm good. This is the most confident I ever am in my life. Like, I know how to do this at a high level. When it comes to relationships and just in general, because I've never been good at them, maybe it is.
Starting point is 01:43:34 What are the things? I know you're the leveling of you're good at giving is, gifts. Yes. Because I don't have to feel super vulnerable and I can put a lot of time and effort and thought into them. Right. So what, because I think words is maybe one. I know. It is not gifts. I'm always like, ooh. Giving gifts you are. Not necessarily receiving. I'm not getting receiving. But you're not, want me through them. Words that affirmation. Quality touch. I mean, sorry, quality time. Not quality touch. I think giving quality time is a big one for me because I don't have a lot of time.
Starting point is 01:44:09 So I do give things, when I do give things time, and sometimes I don't think, I think it's a giving one for me. Gifts and time are a big one for me. Physical touch? Eh, I mean, yeah, I mean. But when you're in a relationship, like, do you need, that is it, if she, if she were to come and like massage your shoulders or scratch your back or it doesn't have to be like, I'll touch you, touchy, but.
Starting point is 01:44:28 But I still get touchy, touchy later, right? Yes. That's a little bit different. Okay, okay. Yeah. I don't need that. Okay. Acts of service.
Starting point is 01:44:37 Possibly. What's that mean, though? Like are they out picking up trash in front of my house? Oh, wow. Thinking of you and how they can help you. What can they do? Something they can do for you that helps serve you. Like she said making coffee for her husband.
Starting point is 01:44:49 Right. Like something. I think that's one. Okay. Okay. So it's like person. I always thought acts of service was out like telling people don't pollute. No.
Starting point is 01:44:56 Like being thoughtful of what is something that would, what's something that would help them out? And how can I help them? Right. I had an ex-girlfriend who would, because. I'm really not good with dates and knowing who's birthday and I just don't know anybody's birthday I barely know mine and so she would always
Starting point is 01:45:16 like keep me clued in as big days for people and I always thought that was the nicest greatest thing so maybe I am an active service thing mm-hmm ooh it's you love it when girls help you with your calendar Amy he's opening up don't make fun of them
Starting point is 01:45:31 I thought this was the same space once I really dissected that I was like but it was time that they were spinning thinking about me and looking out for me. I love when they get out their computer. So hot. And they start going over dates with me.
Starting point is 01:45:49 And they're like, tell me March 18th. Amy's birthday. It's so hot. Like, what? That's okay, mom. That's all right. December 25th, Christmas. 2 p.m. Got a meeting with, no, listen,
Starting point is 01:46:06 Amy. What? It was about that they didn't have to... I know, but she did not have to take the time to make sure that you were... Yeah, it was really... It was thoughtful because you should...
Starting point is 01:46:18 Yes, she wanted you to be able to, you know, honor people on their birthdays. Or, like, taking care of my dog or... It's like, stopping by and been like, hey, I took your dog and did this. Yeah. That was great. That's huge.
Starting point is 01:46:29 You got me. It's a good one. What about when you're in... I even got our stand-up routine all over here. No, and when you have quality time, because you don't... I can see how quality time for you, because you don't have a lot of it.
Starting point is 01:46:39 Like if you're intentional about putting your phone down and if you're at dinner with somebody, I mean, it may only be a 45-minute dinner, but you're going to be dialed in. So that's a gift that you give. But like, do you... How many of these languages are there? I'm seeing four.
Starting point is 01:46:52 There's five. There's five. I think it's only acts of service and words of affirmation some. Wow. Well, that's good to know. I didn't know about your... I didn't know about words of affirmation.
Starting point is 01:47:03 I didn't think I needed to like hump you up about anything. That's interesting. But you do like to tear me down. Is that one tear you down in the radio? I do not like to tear you down. Mike, is number nine bust your balls? Is that?
Starting point is 01:47:16 Because if so, I think Amy nails that one. That's a good one. That is not true. I know. I want to know so that I can lift you up. Because I too need words. And I know how that feels to be.
Starting point is 01:47:26 I'm motivated by affirmation. Like I'm, yeah, like that helps me a lot. But I don't think of the affirmation in any world, except like a romantic relationship where I struggle. Oh. I think.
Starting point is 01:47:38 Okay. What do I know? Yeah, I know. Because, I mean, there's the work world of love language and friendship, and then there's the love side of love languages. So I guess that's where on the love side, I didn't know where you fell quality time because you are so busy. Do you like to have her or whoever it is give you like undevoted quality time?
Starting point is 01:47:57 That's not, I mean, I feel like. Or you're just like, as long as we get 30, 45 minutes, we're good. Yeah. I'm okay with that. All right. Hey, let me say this. I don't get to say it enough. You're very funny.
Starting point is 01:48:08 That was very funny. That was a very funny. You took it in a very funny place. And I'm not giving your words of affirmation because it's a bit. I didn't even think about that. Is that what you're doing right now? I promise you it wasn't where I started. I had tears in my eyes because that was such a funny way to make fun of me in a good way.
Starting point is 01:48:22 It's good. I tell that off the air too, but I would tell you that on the air. So our listeners now. Thank you. I do tell you when stuff is really good. Yes, you do. Thank you. And I work at telling you more, too.
Starting point is 01:48:32 Do you realize that? Yes. And I will work on finding ways to affirm you. To serve me? Oh. Or acts of service, yes. Like, because, yeah. Let's be going to play a song or you want to just sit there and compliment each other for a day?
Starting point is 01:48:44 I'm sorry. This is fun, guys. It's going to get awkward. Starting point is 01:51:46 Ken Jennings won Greatest of All-Time Jeopardy. Oh, wow. He dominated the whole time. I mean, I think he lost one game, but it was so good. And he had never won one of those big major tournaments before. But yeah, he kind of laid into him.
Starting point is 01:51:59 Here's that clip of Alex Trebek, naming Ken Jennings, the greatest Jeopardy player of all time. It has taken 15 years for Ken Jennings. to finally answer the question, is he as good as he appeared to be in that great run on Jeopardy? And he was, and he's the first kind of viral Jeopardy star.
Starting point is 01:52:20 Again, it was 15 years ago, but that was the first role like Internet Jeopardy star that it just kept winning, winning, winning. The other guys came after him. That show had massive ratings, the Jeopardy credits of all time. Like 14, 15 million people on night were watching that show. Just crazy.
Starting point is 01:52:33 I was into it. So Ken and Jennings went a million, and the other two guys got $250,000 each. Wow. So, yeah, to me, that was a really great. I love Jeopardy, but be able to watch it in prime time and to see those guys you had seen play against each other. It was cool.
Starting point is 01:52:48 We'll play a game now called Name that TV game show theme. Oh, wow. Okay, so these are all really easy TV game show themes. You guys can write your answers down. If you miss one, you're out. Here's an example, obviously. That would be... Jeopardy.

Starting point is 01:53:28 Family feud. Nice. Family feud. Eddie? Family feud. Nice. All right. Number two, name this easy TV game show theme.
Starting point is 01:53:45 I'm in for the win. And. Price is right. I think. I think. Hold on. There you go. Lunchbox.
Starting point is 01:53:54 Man, I've been dreaming about being on that show since I was a kid. Price is right. Eddie? That's the Price is right. Next up, number three. I'm in. I'm in for the win. Amy?

Starting point is 01:54:32 I'm in for the win. In. Amy. American Idol. Lunch? American Idol. Eddie? American Idol.
Starting point is 01:54:39 Nice. I'm running a wall over here. I get too many buttons. Okay, good. All right, let's try the next one. Okay. I don't think I have it, but I'm in. I don't think I have it.
Starting point is 01:55:10 have it. I'm in for the win. Okay, let me I know you have it. So we're going to go to lunchbox first. Go ahead. Hollywood squares. Eliminated. Eddie. Bachelor in Paradise. Oh my gosh. You guys. A little bit I'm insulted. I am too. A little bit. It's dancing with the stars.
Starting point is 01:55:28 Oh my goodness. Y'all must have watched a lot when Bobby was on. I did. I Instagrammed everything. Eddie would Instagram the whole show. You would go on top of his story and it would be like all these little white Dots. Dang, how did I not get that? You said in the crowd. I know, man. How many episodes?
Starting point is 01:55:44 When you're in the crowd, you don't hear that really. No, every break time and watched it on the trumpet playing that song. Oh, I miss that. How many episodes did you go to? One, but I watched them all. Okay. I don't understand. Yeah, I just saw it and dance. I didn't know they played that. Play it again. Let me hear it. Amy, you are the winner. Yep. Congratulations. Thank you. You want your song? Of course. Play the next one. See if Amy knows this one. Tough one. I don't know that I would get this
Starting point is 01:56:25 either. You know that? Just take a guess. Who wants to be a millionaire? The voice. Oh, I would not. Really? I'm more of American Idol guy. Sure, sure, sure.
Starting point is 01:56:38 So are we. AI all the way. Yeah. American Idol all the way. Yeah, come on. February 16th on ABC. What's really cool, I'm pretty pumped. They were putting me in all the promo.
Starting point is 01:56:49 Like every main thing, even the main shot, I don't know if they've released it yet. It's all, I'm in the five of us now. That's pretty cool. Which for me is a big deal. Yeah, crazy. So when you were taking it, When you're doing that photo shoot, or you're just not sure you're like,
Starting point is 01:57:02 I'm taking these pictures, but they could like Photoshop me out or like those four together and then you're kind of like, hey. Mostly it was, I wonder if they'll Photoshop me out. Right. Because they,
Starting point is 01:57:11 but they put us all together. No one did a group photo shoot without me in it. So it wasn't they were doing another photo shoot. I was just like, I wonder if they'll cut me out of this. And they didn't. It's like,
Starting point is 01:57:22 it's Katie Perry, Luke and Lionel, the three right in the front and then right behind them were Ryan C. And I was like, holy crap, I cannot believe them in their main promo.
Starting point is 01:57:29 No, that is crazy. I mean, amazing. Yeah, but crazy. I agree. Exciting for me. Yeah, I know you do. Okay. Well, Amy, congratulations.
Starting point is 01:57:38 You're the winner. Thank you. How do you feel? I feel great. I feel like I know my TV game show songs. A woman's honoring her father by getting 90% of her body tattooed. Wow. Quote, book my first tattoo with my dad and now she's getting, Amy, it's almost her whole body.
Starting point is 01:57:57 She has one little part of her face that looks like it's not tattooed, but everything is tattooed. And by the way, smoking hot. Crazy. Think about 90% of your body if it was tattooed. I am right now. Yeah. If your body is broken up into 10 blocks, 9 of them will be covered in tattoos. That's so much.
Starting point is 01:58:16 That's crazy. We're done. Thank you guys for hanging out with us. We're going to dinner tonight. Yeah. We're still on, right? Five o'clock. Oh, late dinner.

Starting point is 01:58:37 Yeah. What's his other one? Yeah. Yeah. Okay, thank you. It's just hard to sing over that. Right, right. The little jazz music.
Starting point is 01:58:43 So him and his wife invited me over to their house for dinner, and I'm going to go over tonight. And they were like, hey, invite Amy if she wants to come too, because Amy actually knows her. And so, are your husband going? Yes. Amy, her husband, me, I'm rocking fifth wheel hard. You're hard. It's okay, though. I'm good with it.
Starting point is 01:58:59 And now we're going to go over to their house and have dinner tonight. F-5, which is awesome because it's pretty tired. Yeah, they said their bedtime is 8. So, and then I am recording a podcast like around 8 back at my house. So we're going to be all, like, I'm pretty sure about 7.30 we should roll out. Or it might even be earlier. I don't know. I guess we'll just see the vibe.
Starting point is 01:59:21 But I think the vibe's going to be tired. But fun. Right. But, I mean, I think she was giving me the laydown of like, we like to go to bed at. eight so I took that as like the hey Maybe it's They didn't want to No
