Oh, by the way, our dogs are starting to get trained. Yes. Speaking of how great our listeners are. Yeah. All together, we were able to buy service dogs for military guys that were injured.

Guys meaning guys and girls both. But, and they were like $25,000 each. So we raised a bunch of money on the air with our listeners. And they're starting to train our dogs now because they're like old enough from puppy to be trained. And I posted a couple days ago the dog Bobby. So anyway. And the dog Bobby is so cute. It's canines for warriors.

Oh, that's a good guess because 33 is one of the ages where we're the happiest in our life.

35. 35 and 70. Oh, okay. Those are apparently the ages when we're the happiest in our lives. What were you going to say, lunchbox? I was going to say 18. Because senior in high school, got the whole world in front of you. Limitless possibilities.

You're about. to go off to college maybe and I mean you just think this is it. You've made it in life and you could be named Prom King at that point. Which you were. I was and that was the highlight. In 21. Because 21 you can legally go to the bar. Like before that you're sneaking it

trying to be cool and you have to worry about getting caught. 21. Woo! Let's go! Here's my... You want to see my ID? Yeah, let's go. Okay. At 30 30, 32, 33, is because people tend to have a bit of energy, a little bit of wisdom, and a little bit of money. Like, it's the first time that all that combines together. Because 18, 21, 24, you got energy, but you broke. So they're like, okay, in your early 30s is kind of when you start to feel good for the first time because you have all of that.

Mid-50s is when you're getting pretty close to retire and you got some cash. So you're still pretty healthy, but you got a lot more money. And then 70 is when you have tons of grandkids. you're likely to take several vacations a year and live in a warm climate. Those are the three years that are supposedly the happiest. Wow.

33, 55, and 70. I tell you, I've gotten happier every year. The only thing about me that's not fulfilled is like the other human part of it. Because I never been married. The love life? Yeah. Someone to share it with.

Yeah, like I feel like I've gotten healthier. I feel like I've gotten to do some cooler stuff. Like I've worked hard to get to certain places and like I'm here. Mm-hmm. I feel pretty good. Do you? Yeah.

I feel like I... Are you the happiest you've ever been? Yes. Yeah. We finally have kids. We wanted those for your... I think as long as you... Your life is still going in the right direction.

Yeah. Eddie? There's been hard years. I feel the older I get, the happier I am because it's like I care less about things. And I'm like, no more about like, oh, I need to do this better for myself. Now it's like all about like my kids. Whatever I make is all going to go to the kids. Like, I look at their future and be like, like,

ooh, I can work towards them. It's no longer about me anymore. I don't care. My pants get higher. I get to eat kind of whatever I want a little more. I'm happier now. I'm looking forward to that part of it, though. What?

Like letting go a little bit? Yeah, but I don't think my job will let me let go. Yeah. You got to be careful with it. If I do stuff on TV, I can't really like that. But when you get home, pull the pants up. Wear the sweatpants. Pull them up to your chest.

Feel good. I guess everybody feels like they're the happiest they've ever been, huh? Morgan number two, you're 25. No, I don't think so. You're not the happy. No, I think there's more to come. Yeah. We're the ones, we're all above 33.

What do you think's more to come? I don't know. I just think that I'm too concerned about too many things right now. So my like happiness, like Eddie was explaining how people are just more carefree. I don't think that exists yet for me. I'm carefree, but I still care about a lot of things that I probably shouldn't care about. That'll come with maturity. But does it?

I don't know. I know. I'm acting like we're all mature. Don't worry. You think you're supposed to get mature. And then you're like, I'm so much. Like, yeah, not really. I'm almost 40.

There you have it. 33, 55, and 70 are your happiest ages. Bobby boom. Come on. All right, so tell me about this. It's called an it's done list. So sometimes you can get overwhelmed by your to-do list and you don't feel very accomplished if it's not crossed off.

But people are recommending you make an it's done list. So you feel that accomplishment and then you want to go cross things off your to-do list. So think of things you've done. and just cross them off. It sounds like the worst idea ever. What? No.

Woke up. Exactly. But you get to cross it off because guess what? You woke up. So feel good about that. And it's done. Brushed your teeth. Done.

This sounds like a participation trophy type thing. Well, maybe some people need that because everybody's wired differently. That's true. Do you know how to not feel anxiety about not getting things done on your to-do-dust? How? Do them.

Yeah. Bobby gets a lot of pleasure off of crossing things off with this big old fat black sharpie marker. This Sharpie? I have it in my hand right now. Right there. It has changed my life. Yeah. He might marry it. I love it. I love lists.

If you look around during the show, I have like seven pages, all of lists. Yeah. And like being able to cross through. And I get the satisfaction of that. Like, I understand that. But a lot of times, this is just another suggestion. If you're needing to get the ball rolling and you want to see things crossed off, then add some things that you've done so you can cross it off and you feel good. And you're like, it motivates you to keep going. Like, oh, well, that was fun to cross it. off that I woke up.

They get to do your to-do list. Okay, fine. Do you do to-do list? Yeah, I like lots of lists and then I lose them, then I have to start them over. On the list, fine last list. Yes. And I like physical lists like you and crossing it out. Like, I'm not this digital list person.

I love it. This is a Sharpie. It's a king-sized Sharpie. It will cross out a whole line in one swipe. Did you guys buy me extra of these? Are there other ones these laying around this building now? First day I came out, people said they don't believe. in love for a site, right?

I grabbed this thing that day, if you guys remember, and I went like this. I remember. My breath was taken away by this humongous Sharpie. Sometimes you just randomly talk about it. It is amazing.

It has changed my life. This is king-sized Sharpie. Yeah. Yes. You're written list, dude. You're not a digital one, though, right? You know, I'll do digital lists sometimes. What I'll do before I pack,

because I travel a lot, I'll write everything I need to pack in my suitcase, and then I delete it one by one. I just like lists. Deleting it isn't as satisfying to me as crossing it out. My husband has a job. digital list for us, a Google Doc we share, and then he numbers it by priority.

It's too much. Is he single? I like that. No. So he's like, if you number it by importance, it helps you know which one you need to execute first. Absolutely. One through 10, put numbers by it, and then you know how to prioritize. And I'm like, whatever.

Like, I end up taking care of 10 before I take care of one. Because it's the easiest slacker. Whatever. My ASMR is when you swipe something out. ASM what? A.S. What? You guys aren't familiar with ASMR? No. Okay. So what it is is, if you go to YouTube and you type in ASMR, like, people make these sounds or, like, they cut sand. It's like things that are super appealing to watch. Or if someone, like, cleans a deck and it's like all at once. Oh, like when you watch people shaving soap. Yep. That's, that's it. Like visual. Or they have audio ASMR with, like, someone crunches through a salad. Something they like. It's satisfying to you, like the sound. But why is it called the ASMR? I don't know what that means. I just see it.

all the time. One of my friends set up an ASMR page on Instagram, where she just eats food. Oh, autonomous sensory meridian response. Oh, yes. Wow. What's the definition say? It is an experience characterized by a static-like or tingling sensation on the skin that typically begins on the scalp and moves down the back and the neck and the spine. So all these things, visual or sound is supposed to give you ASMR. Right. Okay. Like the cutting soap is a great example. Uh-huh. How you watch someone cut it perfectly. And it's like slice.

That marker thing gives you that. Like if I already hear that, I'm like, oh, so satisfied. Try it. Try it. Here we go. Here we go. Oh. Okay. Okay.

I guess that would I feel like when I pop pimples? Yes. A bit. It could be. You're like, it's like a satisfying thing. Like, oh, I like that. It's nothing dirty. When I pull my hair out.

A dog in New York is being held as a hero. He ran out of the home and then took police back to the house because there was a gas leak in the house. Oh my gosh. Yeah. The police department responded to a report of a pit bull running loose through the streets barking. So they go because someone's like, there's a pit bull. They're already pit bull haters, which don't get me started on that. but they go to the dog and the dog runs back to the house.

They can't catch the dog. So the dog runs them back to the house. And at first they said that the dog was being a bad dog. However, as officers were walking the perimeter of the house, they started to smell gas. It was coming from an open basement window. And they were like, we caught this thing pretty much right at the right time because any sort of match or spark. There would have been possibly an explosion. That's crazy.

Yeah, the woman who lived there said that her and her four-year-old old daughter weren't at home at the time, but that Sadie might have saved their lives. Yeah. Not crazy? I mean, that makes me want to pay attention more to my dog when she's acting psychotic. Because sometimes she's a pretty chill dog. And sometimes she goes crazy town. And I don't know what's causing it.

But maybe there's something, I don't know. I need to like really be able to. You should call the police every time she gets crazy. Not every time. One time I know it's because she got into chocolate. Then I found the rapper. And then I googled it and realized that chocolate can make them, we'll go crazy. And it's really harmful for them.

It was bad. But we monitor it. She was fine. But yeah, pay attention to your animals. Yeah. I just think it'd be like, again, an earthquake or something coming. Because that's what animals do. Or like a thunderstorm.

So it's like that's a baseball staple. It'd be like if there was no more hot dogs at baseball games. But peanut allergies are considered among the most common and deadliest. So baseball parks are just meeting with parents and there's just much concern, so they're starting to eliminate it. I mean, it's a moneymaker for games.

Like, we, it was raining or something and we originally wanted to go on a walk and we went to the mall. We did no shopping. All we did was power walk around the mall. And we were shocked at how many steps we got. And I was like, I now see why women do this, like older women.

The tone can be like, okay. Or like, if you send me something to do, Bobby, and I'm like, okay, like you could read it's like,

well okay like is it like okay with excitement i'm going to do this or like okay oh i think about that so i have some alternate options for you that sound okay exclamation point no no sounds good to me exclamation point got it you got it exclamation point no and sure exclamation point i'm going to do okay you are r r r r r r r r r r r r okay okay no this is like if you're emailing with your boss like There's no way you're sending that to Bob. Yeah, I'm going to type it out. Okay. Okay, Mr. CEO.

Yeah, no. So I had no idea it was perceived as rude in an email. But if you're corresponding with a boss, I would go with. Sounds good to me. I'd go with, all good, homie. Do you really, like how do you, do you correspond? Because I know your email style, like with us. Same with everybody.

Same with everybody. Even with the big bosses. It's fine. You say yo to them? You're like, yo. I have before. I sent our CEO a note and I said, hey man. And I wrote the message.

I didn't put the Y on it. And I said, he man. And he goes, oh, like the action figure? And I was like, yeah, whatever. Here's the whole thing. Yeah, I don't. I tell everybody the same. I treat everybody the same.

Come on, listen to it does sound good, huh? You recorded this with the old school microphones at Frank Sinatra singing? The, yes. How did you manage to make that happen?

You know, they, I don't know why they don't have all of this behind glass, but they use it. It's a working studio, one of the most legendary studios in the world, but they're like,

yeah, I mean, when I went in to just have the meeting with Don Was and Al Schmidt, who the engineer has won, has 20-something Grammy. So you're like, why am I here?

Like, what am I doing here? They have, they're like, well, we set up Frank's mic and here's this, the stool that he sat on in case you want to just kind of get the vibe while we're picking the keys. The stool he sat on? Yeah. I took tons of pictures with him. I'm like, there's where Frank's at, you know, because it's just this crazy. And it creates a vibe that you just can't deny. The podium that the conductor stands behind, there's a ton of pictures of Frank sitting there studying lyrics, you know.

So again, it's this history. historic stuff that is just you that they use so it was uh it's pretty great why would you record a frank sinatra album okay so i have um loved this era of music my whole life my mom and i used to sit and watch movies old movies you know for for me i was a kid didn't know how old they were and so i've always loved the music and a lot of people have made standards records and so i always wanted to make one for like the last 20 years i've wanted to do it because i love the music and I got asked a few years ago, I think it was about three years ago, they did the Grammys did a 100th birthday celebration of Frank Sinatra.

And I got asked to sing at it, and so did Garth. And I sang, I'll be seeing you. And when I walked off stage, I saw Donne was who I know, he was the musical director, and he said, have you ever thought about doing an album of these songs? And I'm like, yeah, I think about it like every day. And that's when the idea of focusing it on Frank came up because it's like, there's so many songs. I mean, I narrowed it down to 100 before I picked.

picked 12. But if Frank recorded it, it became fair game, and it gave me a way to kind of frame the record to have a focus. The record's out today, and it's called Let's Be Frank. Do you feel pressure singing a bunch of songs that someone else made super famous? I feel pressure singing a bunch of songs that, like, one of the best singers on the planet in this genre made famous, you know, and I think the thing that made me take a breath was nobody's ever going to, nobody has ever recorded something that Frank made

famous and has said, man, I really nailed that. I really showed Frank Sinatra how to do it. No one has ever said that. The bar is Frank and none of us are above the bar. But it's a way, if you approach it like, I want to pay tribute, but I want to do it my, that's what I say do it my way. I didn't remember me. I didn't. Come on. Come on. You know, just to kind of, so you have to approach it like that to try not to. Because, I mean, the thing about Frank that I learned in listening, the more that I listened was, that there's just, he's so conversational and really just makes you feel like you're sitting across from him at the bar and he's telling you a story. I mean, it's really, it's really that cool.

And there are songs that, you know, come fly with me, it was written for Frank. You know, he asked for that song to be written for him. So we have those kind of songs in there. There's songs like Summer of the Rainbow that you might go, well, that's more Judy Garland. But it's in that genre. And Frank recorded Harold Arlen, who wrote Rainbow also wrote. one for my baby, one for the road. So, I mean, I don't know.

The music is just, it's just timeless. Tell me about this one right here called I'll Be Seeing You. I'll be seeing you. This song is one of the first songs. I had a handful of songs that I'm like, if I ever make this record, I'm going to put this on there and that was one of them. It's just a, it's a sad song. I love sad songs that make me happy.

Me too. You know, me too. You know, but it also is kind of this. wistful song about I'm every you know you'll see you everywhere and for me it's my mom I thought about my mom a lot when I recorded that song both my folks are gone and my mom would have loved this record so I definitely felt her with me making this record and uh that song was really for her what about this one right here for the last time for the first time I'm in love for the last

time so I have to say that there was no part of me this song was not written for this record. So there's no part of me that went, you know, these Frank songs are cool and these guys who have written all these really classic songs are okay, but I wrote something that I think is really, you know, it wasn't that at all. It was, I don't consider myself a writer. My husband hates it when I say that, but he's in all the Hall of Fames, you know, I've just come up with ideas every now and then. And I came in one day and I said, I have this title and I don't have a song to go with it. And that was a title for the first time I'm in love for the last time. And he started to see.

in this melody that is why he's in all the Hall of Fames, you know. It's like he, it was from some other era. I'm like, where is this coming from? And it just kind of evolved. And we worked on this record and it was done, worked on the song. And we didn't have, I wasn't in the middle of making this record or anything. And it was like, I don't know where it belongs. It's not really a country song. It doesn't, maybe it belongs in a Broadway show someday. And then when I started working on the Frank Project, Garth was the one who encouraged me to play it for Don Was. I probably would not have. because I wouldn't have wanted him to think that I was trying to say,

I think this is, you know, as good as come fly with me. And so I did. And Don really liked it. And he played it for the arranger before he told me. He didn't ask my permission. And the arranger, who's Vincent Mendoza, who's amazing, said, I'm writing a chart for it. We're doing it.

And so I waited. And once we recorded it, as strange as it feels to have a song on this record that is an original, it felt like it felt like it wasn't that weird to have it. in with these other songs. You're listening to this. I close my eyes. Don't think I'm weird

but close my eyes right now, Trish. Close my eyes. Do you like to do the thing where you play music in front of people and they have to close their eyes and feel it? Or would you rather than go listen and then come back to you

and report back? Well, I like both. I mean, I'm an artist, so my ego likes it to, you know, it's kind of like, it's like I like to play a song for somebody and see their reaction. It's like singing live for an audience.

And, you know, it's kind of, you know, you like that immediate response, that immediate feedback. but it's also a little embarrassing, you know, so it's kind of like, like, here, I think this is good. Hi. Trisha is so, like, normal and cool. I was just sitting here as she's talking, that's how I'm thinking. I'm like, they just act like this normal life. Well, not even like normal people stuff too. Right. Like, Trisha and I are on the same board like an organization. And we were at a meeting last week and Trisha is just at a table.

Like everybody's just at a table and nobody bothers her. She does like one of us. But really everybody's like, she's really not one of us. Like all at the same time. You know what's so funny about that is I saw you and I'm like there's Bobby Bones. I should go say, hey, I did. I swear I did. I saw you.

I swear I did. I saw you. And then I was like, I'm not going to go by the bobby bones. Stop it, Trisha. I promise you that's what that happened. Stop it. You know, when an artist gets asked to be on one of these boards, that meeting, they came up to me and said, wow, it's so cool. You're here.

Most artists don't come to more than like, don't come to the meetings. That was my second one. And they're like, I'm like, well, I mean, I'm, you know, I'm like interested. And I would like to be on a committee and I would like to help. Yeah, you were dialed in. Yeah. I thought it was cool. Thought that was real cool of you.

But so next board meeting, I'm going to say hello to you and don't be weird about it. We can just sit by each other. Okay. We could totally do that. I'll save you a seat. If you're, yeah, please save me a seat. Those meetings are tough for me because I'm at work really early. And then those things start at like 1 p.m.

I'm like, because this is a bunch of data. That people like us don't deal that well in data, Tricia. I agree. I totally agree. How many spreadsheets can they put up there? Yes. How many slides? How many, oh, my goodness.

Bobby, are you going to get on a committee? I'm on like three committees. Oh, okay. I'm just making sure you're involved. I'm in, yes. If we're showing out of the meeting, we're involved. Exactly right. It's hard to get to those meetings.

He was in the video for Walk Away Joe. Yeah. And he was a... A aspiring actor at Lynn Austin, and they cast him. And if you go back and watch that video, he just looks like this little kid. But I always was joking, like, he isn't call, he isn't right. But I know him a little bit. I mean, I've seen him at a war shows and stuff.

He's very sweet. But I'm always like, I'm responsible. Like, it's me. Does he put two and two together? Like, does he still know Trisha Wood created him? I think he does. He has to, right? I mean, I'm going to have to go back and watch that video now because I did not know that.

Yeah. True or false, your mom baked you and Garth's wedding cake. True. Oh, yeah? Yeah, true. My mom made wedding cakes and birthday cakes when we were little kids to be able to stay home with us before we went to school. She was a school teacher.

And when I went to the first grade, she went back to teaching, but she did the cake thing on the side for extra money. And so she had not made a cake in about 30 years. And when Garth and I married 13 years ago, I said, I would like you to make the cake. And I promise you. And she's like, no. I'm like, she says, I haven't done it. 30 years. I'm like, it'll be small. It won't be a big deal. I just really wouldn't mean a lot to me if you did it. So she said, okay. And then, of course, I wanted like this. It ended up being like a five-tier, you know, but it was beautiful. But it was beautiful. So since you cook so wonderfully, did you get that from your mom?

My mom and my dad were really good cooks. They weren't, you know, I'm not a chef. I'm a home cook like my mom and my dad, but they both really loved to cook. They enjoyed feeding a crowd. It, like, made them happy to make people happy that way. And I think I got that from them for sure. What was growing up like for you? kind of Mayberry you know I mean I really didn't understand I thought everybody's life was perfect until I got a little older and realized that I was really lucky like my life was my mom and dad loved each other they stayed married they didn't fight we had this small town if you ever seen the movie my cousin Vinnie it's filmed in my hometown it's a it's a like it's a little town's that's my hometown so the town square of the courthouse all that about 2,500 people in the city proper and I still know everybody there and it's just it's it's it's a great it was a great place to grow up. Let me give you one more of these. True or false, you refused to kiss a male model for a photo shoot. True. Is that right?

Yeah. It says years ago you had a Revlon. No, I'll just kiss anybody. But then I was just like, yeah. What's the story here? What's the story of that? I had a, I had a perfume deal with Revlon in 1992. And it was, you know, it was this, I had this music career where I'm, she's in love

of the boy and, you know, these little eight-year-old girls follow me. and my manager was managing me and Travis Tripp. And Travis was the wild child. I was the like, I'm not going to be a problem. And we both had a shoot that day. So he went to Travis' shoot because if there was going to be trouble, it's going to be on the Travis shoot. I get to my shoot in New York. And the first thing that happened, this was, again, early 90s was kind of like, well, you're from Nashville.

So you probably didn't bring any wardrobe that's cool. So we're going to, you know, give you clothes to wear. And I'm like, so we actually end up wearing something that I brought him. It was that kind of mentality. It's changed a lot. But that was the way it was then. And then they, we were doing a commercial for this perfume called Wildheart. And it was this kind of romantic, sexy thing.

And I was not a prude at all. But they really wanted me to kind of make out with this male model guy. And I'm like, I'm just not like, that's not what I'm not going to do that. And so I had to kind of shut down production until my manager got there. And it was so was my turn to be the difficult artist that day. But I said, like, my, the whole circle of the pie that is Trisha Eard's career, this is a little sliver in it. And the rest of my career is not this. And so I can't, I don't feel comfortable doing it.

And the male model was like. Matthew, that's right. It would have been Matthew. No, but he was kind of like, look, it's a job. Like, I'm like, it's a job for you. Like, you're getting, you're hired for the day. This is my career. So I just made a decision at that point.

So, yeah. Wow. Good for you, too, right? If you see the commercial, you can probably find it on YouTube. It's a sexy commercial, but I don't make out with a guy. But, you know, I didn't need to. What about that dog, Millie? I saw on your Instagram.

Yeah, Millie. Yeah, is that a new dog? Yes, she is. How's that going? She's fabulous. Well, she's good. She's, you know, when you get a puppy, when you rescue a puppy, you just really don't know, especially when they're a mutt.

You don't really know what they are going to be. Her paws are, I mean, like, I don't really know. She was like 11 pounds when I got her not that long ago. She's almost 30 pounds now. Oh, wow. I'm not really sure what she's going to be. Yeah, right. But I have another dog who's a rescue who's about six years old.

And we've had Millie for a couple months now, and Emmy, my older dog is sort of past the hating stage. I mean, they're getting there. You know, it's kind of like, I want her to have a friend because I'm a rescue person, and I've always got rescue dogs. We're down to one. So I'm like, look what I got for you. And she's like, I hate you. But she's good. She's good.

What are you, if people come to you, Trisha, and they say, what's your advice about being married and being happy? Because you guys like so happy all the time. There's two things. I mean, those are, one thing is, even though you are, it's, they sound like they're going to be contradictory. But when you become a couple and we're both very independent people, you have to figure out how to be, how to, how to give, you know, how to not be so independent all the time because it's not all about you. And we are in careers that are, that you have to sort of be all about you. I mean, when you're focused on an album coming out or what you're trying to do to kind of keep, make sure you get to keep doing what you do is very self, It's very self-focused. But in a marriage, you can't do that.

It has to be about the other person. So you have to figure out how to make that adjustment. And my theory is if you're not happy with yourself, you're not going to be happy in a marriage. And I've learned that lesson myself before. So I think that's the other thing. And we made our marriage a priority. So as much as we have these careers and as much as we are busy, we rarely spend a night apart. And when that was a conscious decision for us that we would not get married to be together to be apart.

And that's worked out for you guys pretty well. Yeah. Is it hard, though, to maintain that sometimes? Well, I think sometimes, you know, sometimes it's like anything else. If you make, what you make the priority is sometimes it has to be different things. Like when I'm working on the cooking show, I'm gone every day by 7 in the morning, and I'm not home until 7 or 8 at night. And I'm pretty much going to bed soon because I got to get back up at the next morning.

I got the music business because I didn't want to have a real job. I didn't want to have a job where I had to get up every job. didn't go to work. But the show is kind of, and it's fun, but it's a lot. And so when I come home, you know, there's no, there's no date time. There's no us time. There's like, and he's, there's no food for him. I've been cooking all day on a TV show, so there's no, you know, I'm like, I mean, I was like, I'm like, sorry, there's nothing, you know, and he'll have dinner, he'll make dinner, you know, he'll make something for me. So, um, he just know during that time it's going to be, this is, you're not my priority for these next three weeks and I'm sorry.

And it shifts, you know, that's just the way it is. y'all get to go out on dates like as just just you too like could he ask you out and y'all go out to eat and it's not a thing? We do. We do. We'll go out to eat or we'll go to a movie or something like that. We don't do that very often. Probably because we travel for a living so we like to be home. Home buddies, yeah. But we do. And we think that that's important. You know, we, I do think that, you know, you can't just sit home in your pajamas all the time. Like it's like if you have a day off, you've got to get out and do stuff. We talk about that. You know, Nashville's a great city and it's, every day, it's changing. And so we were talking about this the other day, like getting out more and doing stuff. And I said, well, we need to, like, there's a hundred restaurants I want to go try that we haven't tried.

So, you know, but you have to, you have to make an effort to do it. You can't just talk about it. You got to do it. Let's Be Frank. It's out today, Tricia Yearwood. It's a lot of Frank Sinatra songs and a song that you and Garth wrote together. I bet a question you get a lot is. When are you putting out like a country album?

Because it's been a while. It has been a while. Well, I'll tell you that the tour that I was on with Garth that lasted three and a half years that ended last year. So 2018 was the year of Trisha getting caught up. So I've actually made two records in 2018. I'm almost finished with the country record. Really? And it's been so much fun.

The hardest part was, I mean, this album, the Let's Be Frank album was all prep. The songs are pretty much set, you know, and then you go and we went to Capitol. so we're in LA, so our time is money. People don't, I understand now why people don't necessarily hire a 55-piece orchestra anymore to do stuff because most expensive record have ever made, you know. And so you're like, okay, we're got to get this, get in and get out. So we cut the whole record in four days, and then we mixed it in four days. So we were eight days of work.

The country record is different. You know, come, I still am old school, so I go around and I sit with publishers and I listen to songs. And I had a lot of people here, it was interesting, say, well, how many songs do you? looking for. I'm like, well, I'm making an album. Wow, that's so cool. You're going to do a whole album of songs? And I'm like, uh-huh. I am. And I was really pleasantly surprised at the songs I found. I'm so excited. So that'll be fall. Oh, yeah? Yeah, so I'll be back. Wow, look at this. Yeah. That's cool. Yeah, I'm really, I'm really, I'm really excited about it. Yeah, come on. Okay, Trisha, you're what is here. How about this? Let's go down memory lane for a second.

Talk about this one for one second You stare off into like a deep space whenever this song plays Like what's going on your mind, Trisha, when you hear this? I was just thinking about how big my hair was actually No idea as a 26-year-old girl I just like the song No idea that it would become this It's still, you know, all these years later

It's a song that I don't know how many times I've sung it now Never get tired of it. It's a great story and I feel so lucky that it was my first single, honestly. That thing went to number one. It did. First song. Boom.

Yes. So do you expect every other song to go to number one when your first one goes number one? Well, yeah, I did. Yeah, I thought, oh, this is not as hard as everybody said. I was like, oh, yeah, this music business thing is so easy. Because that song at the time, you know, I mean, it stayed number one for like three weeks. It was like, I don't know. I think, I don't know who had a debut female artist.

It was like, there's all this history. and we had a gold record in three months and I was like, this is, yeah, like everybody said this was hard, this is not hard. Then you realize,

then you realize, okay, when one of the biggest songs of your career is your first single, now you're in danger of being a trivia question or the one hit wonder or like, and then the pressure starts. So I feel lucky that if I had to name less songs like that,

I would name Walk Away Joe, I would name How Do I Live. There have been a few in my career that are those songs that have been spread out enough that, you know, I get to keep doing this. I mean, that's the whole goal. Walk away, Joe. Come on, that's so good.

Where do you go when you hear this one? That I, listening to him sing with me in the studio. You know, I grew up on the Eagle. So to hear that voice singing with my voice is one of those things that you're like, I need to really pinch myself. I need to make sure I'm in this moment because this is a real thing. This is history for me. This is something I can't imagine.

And we felt like the song was, out of everything I've ever recorded, when we finished cutting Walkway Joe, before Don even was thought about to come in and sing, to ask, all the musicians, we all walked in the studio. And nobody said, that's the number one record. That's how they'll say it in the movie. But how it really happened was that the musicians all said, something special just happened. Like, we knew something magical happened. We didn't know. Everybody felt like, wow, that was really cool, what just happened. We didn't know what it would do.

one more It's like I'm listening to the soundtrack of myself growing up at Mount Pine, Arkansas when I play these back This is it. This is on the radio all the time Do you want to the crazy story about this song? Do you know the story about this song? Tell me what I don't know. I know lots of stories.

Some of them aren't true, which we tried earlier. Right, right. Do not want to be an accountant. Never did. Still don't. So there was a TV pilot out for a movie out for it that was wanted to be a TV pilot long before Nashville. It was just not ready.

I guess this town wasn't ready for the, or America wasn't ready for the show. And it was called X's and O's. And it was back, it was in the early 90s. And it, like, it was kind of filmed around Manuel's. Pam Tillis was in it. Do you remember this at all? No. Not here, but it was in the early 90s.

It was, I think it was like CBS, maybe. I was like, TNN. It was like a, it was a pilot and they did a movie. And this was the, it was called X's and O's. And the theme song for this movie was this song. And it was, it was, had it been been recorded. and someone else was going to sing it. And it was Winona.

Winona wouldn't mind me saying this. But she got sick. She got like, I think she had like a back issue or something happened where the track was cut and they were on the, they were like, we got to do this. And I got a call. Could you come in? The track's been cut. Can you sing this for this show? The track, you mean the music for our listeners.

Like everything except the vocals. Right. Exactly. So the key had been picked. Everything was cut. And so I said, well, let me see if it's in my key. and it was. We sing close to the same key.

And so I went in and recorded it for the movie. And I didn't have an album. I wasn't even working on a record. So I didn't have an album coming or anything. So I recorded it and we liked it. And then, of course, the movie didn't really do anything. But we liked the song. So we asked if we could, you know, have it for an album.

And we made an album around that song. And if you listen closely as a musician, you'll totally get this. But everybody who plays this song in my band, And they're like, why is it so weird? Why the change is so weird? It didn't have a solo and it didn't have a last chorus because it was a TV. It wasn't a song. It was a theme song, right?

So we put this last, we put this chorus over the outro that was over different chords than the rest of the choruses. So it makes no sense to a musician to play it. But that's why it's so oddly done because we kind of made it into a song when it really wasn't a song. So I owe gratitude to Winona for being sick. I'm so sorry that you were sick, but thank you. It was a- One of the biggest songs of my career. I appreciate it. movie that was maybe

going to turn it to a TV show, but that didn't make it. Correct. With a song, with an artist that couldn't make it because she was sick. Right. That you happened to get the call and you were available. Yeah. And you went and cut it and the next thing you know, we know everywhere to it. And then I made an album around it. Isn't that crazy?

Crazy. Wow, what a story. Trisha Yearwood is here. Let me say this again. Let's be frank out today. This isn't she. Did you listen to this a lot, getting ready for it, or did you remove yourself from the Frank for a while? I had to try to remove myself a little. You know, it's kind of like if you overthink things, then you can get it in trouble.

And I found for me in making any kind of record, even like with songs that haven't been recorded before, there are demos. If I learn it too well or listen to it too much, I'll start to try to copy something I heard. And it's just a natural thing with me. I'm kind of an imitator. So I have to listen. But then I have to sort of remove myself so that I don't get too stuck in something else. Because the coolest things that happen vocally are those things that happen that you didn't think about. And then if you do something like that's cool and then you go back and go, oh, that was really cool.

Let me do that 10 more times and do it better. You don't. It's usually that first really spontaneous thing that works. Well, I have enjoyed our time together, Tricia. Me too. Thank you, my mind. As always. Have we covered everything to your liking?

No, I always thought I have the answer. And about you. Like the whole, it's you, right? What are you thinking? Well, you know, I do. In that moment, I'm thinking so many things. I mean, I'm trying to listen. I'm being very aware.

I've never heard this song before. It's a CMA's. It's a CMAs. And people probably think, oh, they just said she'd never heard it. I had never heard it. Honestly, I was like, come on. Yeah. And I was like, please let me hear it before you do this to me in front of, you know.

He didn't let you hear it. Did not let me hear it. So you're sitting there going, this is important, I know. I don't know what it is, but I know what's important. And then, you know, the only thing I said to him was don't bring me up on stage. I don't know what your plan is, but do not bring me up there. Like, I'm not coming up there. But so he's like, I won't do that.

But then it's like, it's like you're sitting there and all of a sudden, here comes the spotlight. And I'm like, okay, this is awesome. There's a spotlight on me. And I'm not, I mean, I would never be a good crier in a movie or a soap opera because I'm an ugly cryer. It's not, I don't do the really cute tear rolling down the cheek. I'm full on, like, there's snot. There's like, it's not good. So I'm like, okay, just don't ugly cry.

So when I see it back, I see my face. It's like, I'm doing this whole, like, trying to just keep it together. And I'm trying to listen at the same time. And it was so, you know, I just can't. I can't. So when we got home that night, I said, can you sing it to me now? Because I need to be able to sit and listen to it. And I need to be not having to think about what anybody else is thinking.

And then I really did ugly cry. And Jason Aldean was sitting down next to me and he leaned over and said, can you just tell your husband he's just making it really hard for the rest of us? Like he's really making the guys look bad. Oh. That's good. That makes it even more special if they got home and she had him play it home. I mean, it was to be able to really listen to it in the right mode of, like you said, like listening with your eyes closed, like being able to really listen and not be having to think about all the other stuff.

Did he play it himself or play it on a track? He played it. He got his guitar on and played it. Yeah. And, you know, he got choked up, but he's so like, no, I didn't. I just, I missed a chord and I was like, I was stalling because I was just, I'm like, you cried. You tell me. Oh, man.

That's a good story, huh? Uh-huh. I love it. Glad I felt like we were feeling. I'm glad too. Because I like knowing that it's just an inside peak of what actually, because honestly, too, Bob, there was a lot of people we thought. How could she not have heard the song? Oh, I said that.

I was like, I would want to hear it. If I were church, I would demand to hear it. I really did. And actually what really took me off is he played it for other people. He played it for my sister. And my sister, I'm like, tell me. She was like, no, but I cried so hard. I'm like, oh my God, like, you've got to tell me what's happening.

Like people, everybody else had heard it. But I had not heard it. And then she had him playing at home. I love it. Yeah. And I did. And I think it's so. beautiful. It's so beautiful.

I don't know. A one-year-old pit bull slipped outside, wasn't seen again for over eight days, during which time, this area in New York was hit by a blizzard, sub-zero temperatures. Stephanie, the owner, she went to dog shelters. She put flyers out everywhere. And then, like, dog control officers were sent out, and they got a phone call saying that an animal was seen hiding under a dump truck.

So they went to check it out. Boom. It was Franklin. That's the dog's name. And he had lost over 20 pounds in this eight days. But he's expected to recover without any long-term injuries. How much of a relief would it be to get your dog back after eight days? Because if it's snowing, you probably think it's over.

Are you trying to fool them? No, no. I'm super colorblind. It's matte purple. Yeah, that's what color. No, it is black. Do you have it, when you get it, do you go out and say, hey, make it this color? Yeah, I went and got a rat put on it.

Is that what it is? It looked too much like a dad car at first, and I was like, I don't know. How can I make this car cool? Because it drives like a really cool car. Yeah, that's an interesting. Like, you can just wrap cars. And I've never had a car. And I was like, I want to have a cool car if I'm going to have a car.

But once I drove it, I had to have it. I saw on your Instagram, BK, that you were looking for a truck. Yeah. You were like, hey, if anybody can find this truck yet. Did you find the truck yet? I did. So, Amy, have you seen this? No, what happened.

What he did was he gets on Instagram and he puts a picture up with this. What's the truck? What is it? It's a Chevy Silverado, Z-71 Stepside. What year? It had to be a... 89 or something, right? Okay, tell me more, because I want to find my car I had when I was 16, so tell me more.

So you asked for this truck, specific truck. Yeah. And someone found it for you. Yeah, my boat captain down in Florida hollered at me after about a day and a half of this hunt on Instagram. And everybody was, my Instagram was blowing up. People sending me trucks. And he's like, hey, I think my boat. buddy in Alabama's got your truck.

And he's like, check your Instagram. He tagged me. And I said, oh, I think he does. So we're going to do some work on it. It needs some paint. It needs a couple things. But it's beautiful and it's the truck I've always wanted. I kind of, you know, experimented.

I had the big F-250. I have a Raptor, you know, had some fun with buying some toys. But at the end of the day, I was like, man, I'm going to celebrate this record. Why is that one so special, though? It's that body style. It's that 98-97 body style where it was just a little bit more simpler. And then you add the step side, which is just. classic. They don't make those anymore. And then the

color, the garnet and gold. I'm a seminal fan. S-I-N-P-S. And it just, you know, one of those things. It's funny how those things mean something to us, like the early things that we had. I was with Thomas Wright in his truck, and he went back and got his old truck. Literally his first truck. He's got that silver one. I think he had to pay more than he sold

it for to get back. I remember that thing on Music Row years ago, and I was like, he's got the most badass truck. He had the B.F. Goodrich, I think, mud terrains on there. It looked good. He drives sometimes. He drives it back around again. Yeah. Yeah. What was your first car ever? My first car was a little Honda Accord.

I just lied. That actually, this is my second car. I did have a car. I always had to buy my own vehicles from the time I was, you know, 16. So starting out, man, I had some pretty, I think it was an 89 Honda Accord. So I was styling. BK? 96-2-door Tahoe.

You wrote this for him too, huh? We did. He didn't just sing on it. He actually wrote it with you guys. We did, yeah. What's that like getting a right with Jason Derulo? Man, it's awesome. You know, we've done quite a few things with him.

He's kind of become family for us. And anytime we're in L.A. or he's in Nashville, we try to get together. He's probably the most talented person we've been in the studio. He's mind-blowing in the studio. Unbelievable. In what way? He comes in and just nails the vocal? Every way.

He's a great writer. He's ridiculous when he starts singing. You know, he's just swagged to the max. I mean, the way he dances. A lotion person that comes in lotion to him. Are you serious? No joke. Absolutely.

Well, he has to something. He will not get ashy. Wait. Wait. Oh, just in the middle of, I mean, that's a big deal. No, yeah. Literally in the booth. I need some lotion and it's right there. Oh, my gosh.

It's, locian goals. That's amazing. Does he on the song? Does he go, Jason Derulo? Anywhere? No, we didn't. What? He thought he always did that.

Like in every song. Maybe his songs. Well? Yeah. He has his own lotion person. I know. I'm, uh, but it's like he knows, he knows, even when, you know, We were writing, we wrote a couple other songs with them, but it's like he knows where it's at.

He's just taking it from the universe. I mean, just on the fly, like making it happen. And the way his engineer's track guy works with him and the way they cut and record is just, I mean, they've probably done it a million times. And it shows. But it's just fascinating how quick they work and how talented they are. And just watching him piece it together. It's just next level, man. It really is.

We learn a lot from him. So you're saying he can write, he can sing, and he can dance, he can do everything. Yeah. Oh, he's like J-Loh. I just want to do something. We've got people who can do everything. Well, you want to dancing with the stars, Bobby. Bobby, you're right, sing and dance.

You're Jason Derulo. Yes, I'm basically the country version of Jason de Rulo. It's at the house. It's at the house. Yeah, but yeah, I'm quite the dancer. Yeah. I will say Tyler was one of the first ones to text me after I won. He was like, congratulations.

Jeez. Having to wake up at like one in the morning because I'm two hours back. And then I would train for eight or nine hours every day. We didn't take a day off for almost three months. Wow. Because I was, yeah, because I just, I was the least. There were two of us that had never had indie dance. And so I just went into it.

Enough. Yeah. Yeah. The album's out today. There are 19 songs on the record. Here's one. This is the y'all boys. This was the last track, right, that came out?

Yep. Is that right? Y'all boys, we got seven draw boys. Yeah, before I'm just right. You know I like about you guys when I look at the, because I look at the songwriters a lot, too. I'm a big songwriter guy.

I do a podcast in my house with just songwriters. They come over and we come over. we talk about songs in depth. But it's like you guys are both humongous songwriters, but you will also, like on this song, take songs that you didn't write. I think that's a big testament to you guys and how much you actually value songwriters

because you are, because you guys aren't on that one, are you? Again, you guys could just write your own songs every song on the record. And yet you guys still don't because, like I feel like Kenny Chesney's the same way. Like he values songwriting so much that he's not too good

to take song for somebody else. So I think that's cool. I think it's important, man. I mean, we moved to Nashville to be songwriters and to support the songwriting community now in our career is something we're really proud of. But also, you look at, like you just said, Kenny Chesney, the Tim McGraths,

the huge, the icons, the people that are selling out stadiums, they're not too good to cut outside songs, man. You know what I'm saying? I think there's something, if you just got to have an ear for a hit song, you got to know, I mean, you don't have to write them all, you've got to just be able to hear them. So for us, it's like, I don't know,

you start seeing people that want, want to write every song on their whole album and starts to kind of become a scary thing career-wise. You start to kind of see either some plateau happening or some kind of falling off. So for us, we take a lot of pride in cutting outside music. It's always kind of been best song wins, you know, if it beats something that we wrote and it ups our game and our album and it feels like us and it feels real, then, I mean, for sure. Why not be a part of the songwriters in Nashville and support them and have a better song?

I mean, that's, I don't know. I think that's what Garth did, too. Garth was a great songwriter, and had the ability to, you know, pick hits. And nothing's even better. I mean, it's even better when a song goes number one and all three or four of the writers is their first single ever. You know what I mean?

To get to experience that and kind of see that, live that through them again, it's just, it's super rewarding. Like, talk you out of it. It's all new writers that haven't had any singles out, and it's climbing the charts. So to kind of live that with them, it's cool. On that song, Talk You Out of it.

You mentioned it was baby-making season. You just, you have a second kid. I am, yep, we are. How about that? We're pretty excited, man. It's a little unexpected, but, you know, we knew we were going to eventually try to have our kids close together. So it's definitely close together. So we're going to knock that out.

And, yeah, man, we're excited in August. I saw, you know, the picture on Instagram where you were kissing her belly. Do you, how many pictures do you take to go through to post the right one? Man, that was just, that was the only one we took when we actually, we kind of, we kind of we're talking about it that day like how are we gonna we gotta get this news out soon because she's gonna start showing right and so we were like well i don't know we talked about a few ideas and then we're like why don't we just do something on the carpet that kind of gives it away so we just kind of decided the last minute to do that and yeah either better he's just kissing you're right just

kind of random really weird picture but uh no people got the point yeah talk about the name of the record can't say any country why'd you name of that man uh we had that idea down at the beach and just something to make a splash to kind of say something, but also, you know, it's a song on the record. It's also, it can be a bold statement, but it's also kind of a lighthearted, fun song when you hear it. So create a little noise, a little talk. And, you know, this is probably our most country record, but at the same time, it's still FGL. It still has something for everybody, like a collaboration. I've got a song called Told You That is Beautiful.

It's unlike anything we've done, but it still sounds like us. something that we love. But, you know, it's just, for us, it's just, we're super proud of this record, man. We know where we're at. We know where we're headed and we know who we are. And it's excited to not put out the same record, you know, that we put out last time and to push things forward for us and to continue to not going anybody else's lame, but to pave our own.

And that's what's most important to us, you know. Tyler, you're in Africa. What do you do over there for so long? Man, we always try to balance our trip out. with a little bit of charity work. We stop in Malawi usually and check up on a few projects that we're involved with there, which is really humbling and really grounding, and we think it's important for us. And it's just, you know, really fulfilling and fun to give back there.

But we also are really big on going on safari. My wife especially loves being in the middle of nowhere in the bush and seeing the animals and just kind of getting away from, you know, our day-to-day life. And so we call it a grounding trip. So when we go over there, that's kind of what we do. We spend half the time kind of working and then half the time sort of on vacation. This time we got to bring our family, her parents, and some of our, you know, our whole family, Livia and our nanny. And so it was a full to kind of, again, get to live and live the first trip to Africa through their eyes was really cool.

You love elephants? I do love elephants. You have an elephant tattoo? I do have an elephant right here on my arm, as a matter of fact. So what? Let me see that elephant. Yeah, he's a big guy here. That's not just like a sketch of Dumbo.

That's like a real life. This is real. That's a whole. Oh, okay, yeah. Hardcore element. And I actually got this done by an African tattoo artist in Africa. So it's got a little bit of a little meaning behind it. Wow.

What's up? Why you love elephants so much? Man, just when you see them in person and you hear and you read about them and you kind of get to know them a little bit, they're super intelligent intellectual creatures. And they kind of, you know, there's definitely an argument to say that they're more. intellectual than humans, you know, and they really connect and they know their family, their community, the way they protect each other, the way they, you know, the way they stick together. I just think they're, and they're super powerful.

I mean, they're one of the only animals that don't have any predators, you know, so it's kind of cool and they're very loving and they're very, you know, there's a lot to be learned from elephants. And every time we go over there and spend more time with them and hearing them and reading about them and you're just, you know, we're just inspired. So they're probably one of my favorite animals in Africa. You know I work out with your security? Wilson?

I heard, yeah. I tried to spot it. Yeah, so, yeah. Well, you try to what? I try to spot him sometimes. He's really big. He's the wrong gig. He talks about how much weight he just pushed up all the time.

I mean, he's got a few different alter egos, and he's actually a super straight-laced guy that's, you would never, you would never think he can turn it on like that, but he used to leave us voicemails all the time that just cracked us up, made us laugh. And so we were like, man, this is good stuff, dude. Would you get in the studio with us and do a few skits and let's just pick some of the best ones? And so he just kind of went in there on the mic and just went off for, you know, half an hour on a bunch of random stuff, and we took some of it and kind of made skits out of it.

So now it's track one. He's a good buddy of ours and excited to have him on the album, yeah. It's cool, cool couple of intros to the songs, you know, just add some life. And they made me mail it to my house. And like a month later, I got it back. Right when the on-site wears off in about a month. Yeah, that's when it happened. Yeah. That's amazing. And you can look at Tyler's Instagram because you posted it. You wrote a letter to yourself as a kid.

Right. That's always pretty weird and emotional to read back. Even to do, I struggle with doing it a little bit. Yeah, it was a challenge for sure. You know, it's a different kind of exercise where you kind of got to really, you know, be in tune with, you know, you got to go inside and figure, okay, if I were to meet my eight-year-old self right now, like, what would I say? So you kind of write it out and then, yeah, it's cool how they do it too. They kind of bring that out of you and then they mail it to your house. And so it's a nice little reminder a month or so afterwards and when you get home that, hey, you know, stick to what you wanted to do.

And for me, it was trying to find that inner child a little bit more on a daily basis, you know, as an adult now. And, you know, don't forget to have fun. Don't forget to, you know, stay grounded and remember where he came from and all that good stuff. I appreciate it that. That's pretty vulnerable. Thanks, Bob. Yeah, I like to.
