Starting point is 00:02:50 The Bobby Bones Post-Show Pre-Show. What are you talking about? You don't know Never My Wildest Dreams? No. Sing it. Hey, Remo, do we play that? From the Black Keys? Never in my wildest dreams, but I'd be loving you.
Starting point is 00:03:09 Never in my wildest dreams. You don't know that? No, that's really cool. Would my dreams come true? Just too good to touch. I can't discuss it when. I get too choked up. I want to make a scene
Starting point is 00:03:33 Never in my wildest dreams What a jam Pretty good, huh? I'm just used to hearing, you know, black keys, like, ah, no take place. Yeah, that sounds really cool. I like that. I have the three songs I've been listening to
Starting point is 00:03:46 the last few days, and that was one of them. We didn't get to it today. I'll do it now. That's Dan Araubach, never in my wildest dreams. Let's stay home tonight, which is a live acoustic version from Need to Breathe, which is the live acoustic record is really good.
Starting point is 00:03:58 Here's this. The song I just played, or what are you talking about? The second one. Let's stay home tonight. Yeah, yeah. Baby, let's stay home tonight. We can put a couple records on. We can build a fire all right.
Starting point is 00:04:14 Maybe we can dance you don't. Everything will be done. It's so many of my friends are like, my favorite band ever. Who is this? Need to breathe. Yeah, it's good. And then the other one I had a Cheryl Crow and Chris Ableton.
Starting point is 00:04:35 Tell me when it's over. Tell me when it's so Because I don't Those are three songs I posted I was listening to last night You can film my vibe Yeah Good stuff
Starting point is 00:05:03 You can film my vibe there The most expensive car ever Bugatti has now created A car called La Vucre Noe It's being sold For 18.7 million dollars A car
Starting point is 00:05:16 A car for 18.7 million dollars It looks like the Batmobile Basically But it's 18 points Like what can it do For 18.7 billion dollars What can a car do? It better
Starting point is 00:05:24 the time machine. Yeah, it's got a fly too. I saw that this morning. What do you think about hair of the dog, Amy? What does that mean? It means, it means, it means taking what caused it to make it better. I think a common hair of the dog is when people drink, so they want to drink more if they have a hangover, but hair of the dog could mean anything.
Starting point is 00:05:43 It's like a hair of the dog. Oh, I don't know that I've ever heard that before. Wait, what's the definition again? The way you said it? Are we using it wrong, Eddie? Well, I've only used it with like, all right, I'm still drunk. Let's just keep drinking. I think that's the common people use it most. But a hair of the dog would be something from something. Like the dog that bit you or the hair of the dog.
Starting point is 00:06:01 So it's like take something from what's causing you trouble to make it better. Oh, okay. All right. Like I think that's the general definition of it. Interesting. But most people use it as. Like if you're sore, your legs are sore, hair of the dog would be go do more squats. Right.
Starting point is 00:06:17 But generally people use it for drinking. Have you ever used it for working out? Oh, yeah. You have? You're like, I'm still sore. If my legs are killing me. And I can't move. It's, yeah, I'm going to go do a little more to loosen them up a little bit.
Starting point is 00:06:30 Hair of the dog. But drinking, I think, is where most people use it in context. Drinkers have tried having more alcohol to relieve a hangover. Does it work? Eddie? 100%. Yes. Zero percent.
Starting point is 00:06:41 No. You just think it's making you feel better. Really? You're just feeling the buzz again. It only delays those painful hangover symptoms. It doesn't make it better. Oh. I don't think your liver's like, yay, more alcohol.
Starting point is 00:06:54 Yes. I thought it's just like immune to it. Just what I needed. So those were two things that I felt we could talk about here. I learned something. There's also, it's just, I don't like talking about poop that much on the show. Yeah, neither do I. But there was a story about making your poop sparkly.
Starting point is 00:07:13 It's called We Are Feel. It's a multivitamin pill with glitter in it and it makes your poo sparkle. It literally does. Like, I'm not kidding like, makes your poop, but no, it does. That's kind of cool. Cool. But who would you want to show that to? People who are in the house. Honey, honey, look at this one.
Starting point is 00:07:28 That's the thing. It's just, I don't even like talking about that. Yeah. But I saw that where people are buying that. Cool, now we know. Or just an idea of bones, and not to talk about it too much. But if it's like a surprise, kind of like those surprise eggs, you don't know what the pill has. So until you do it.
Starting point is 00:07:44 And then you're just like, oh my gosh, I knew it. It was a heart. Like. No. Eddie, you're 40 years old. I know. But I got a bunch of boys in the house. That's true.
Starting point is 00:07:54 Yeah. Maybe it would be good for kids. Four boys. Yes. Your wife's got five dudes. Oh, dude. Some days she'll just be like, I got to get out of the house for a little bit. Or some day she's like, it just smells like a bunch of dudes in here.
Starting point is 00:08:05 I'm out. What's up this weekend? Not much. Mainly just prepping for the next couple of weeks. We have a crazy next couple weeks. So we kind of need this weekend to prep for it, if that makes sense. It doesn't. It doesn't?
Starting point is 00:08:19 Oh my gosh. Well, if you ever had like two kids to prepare for things. And then I'm also, I mean, I'm headed back to Haiti soon for a weekend. Like, and I haven't been back. That, I understand, prepping for that. Yeah. Well, what are you prepping for, Amy? Well, what am I?
Starting point is 00:08:32 Riots. We always take a bunch of stuff when we go. So looking at what the various needs are, how much luggage are we going to take. Like, what am I going to pack to wear? Because it's always hotter than I'll get out there. So, I mean, but it's been hot here. So I guess just the same. No, we're the same.
Starting point is 00:08:50 Yeah. But that. taking your kids? No. Will you, the next time, will they be ready to go back to the orphanage? Well, I don't know when my next time is, so I can't answer that. But I would say two years is what I've heard is, so in December, it'll be two years. So say if we go sometime next year, then yeah. Boy, that'd be tough, huh?
Starting point is 00:09:14 Probably tough and awesome, both? Yes, bittersweet. Only bitter because then if they're there, They'll have to leave again, and that might be hard. But also, we would try to arrange visits with their birth moms, which to me is what I've always wanted for them, and we talk about it. And I know that they want that, but I don't know how the moms feel. I've never talked to them.
Starting point is 00:09:41 So it'll just be an emotional thing, meeting them for the first time. But I want them to have a relationship. That's heavy. But I have no idea. They may not want that. what if I reach out to the moms and they're like, I don't know, we can't do that. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:09:58 I'm hoping they're down with it. You're hoping they're down with meeting? Yeah. I'm hoping they're down with having a relationship and we can go back to Haiti more and more. Once we start taking the kids, we can really start. They can go back and they'll get used to it.
Starting point is 00:10:12 And like, okay, life here, life there. But I want them to have a life there. I don't want them to forget Haiti, where they came from. That's important. Amy, serious question. So if you say like if the parents eventually like, oh, they're like, we want a relationship and they want to rebuild that, your time with them as your children, does that kind of feel like I was just great. I'm not even their mom anymore. I was just babysitting.
Starting point is 00:10:38 No. No, I already look at myself as a second mom. Like that's their first mom and I'm their second mom and we can be moms together. like that I feel like as in a when you adopt or like if you're fostering when you adopt I mean that's what I am doing I have taken on that role of a caregiver like I I chose that they didn't choose it and my daughter's made that clear at times where I mean that for six months it would come up a lot and it was a reality check to like to my face I would say something like we're just so happy to have you here like you came to be here with us thank you
Starting point is 00:11:15 And then she's like, nobody asked me if I wanted to come here. You took me. I'm like, okay, you're right. We did. We did. So I am that role. I mean, in her eyes, I mean, because she came here at 10. And she lived with her mom until she was five years old and at the orphanage from five to 10.
Starting point is 00:11:30 So I'm almost like her third. She has caregivers at the orphanage, nannies that raised her, Papa Pierre. Like, that's my role. Like, I'm just, I just want them to grow up to be, like, functioning, happy humans. How are those guns functioning? They're functioning, all right. They're working? They're shooting?
Starting point is 00:11:51 Oh, oh, oh. Oh, do you bring it? Oh, no. No. She brings one. She starts getting us with it. Oh, is it a thank you notes? I just totally forgot.
Starting point is 00:11:59 Did you make them write this? No, he wanted to write your thank you note. Can I read it? Yes. Thank you, Bobby. I love my shoes and Nerf guns. So many bullets. Nice.
Starting point is 00:12:13 Love Stevenson. That's fine. Yeah. Look at his handwriting. I know. Are you so proud of him? It's as good as mine. Okay. Yeah. It's probably good because of all the stuff you make. All the punishment. Yeah. It's getting better. With all that punishment for handwriting.
Starting point is 00:12:26 Like, I will say yes, sir. Or now it's going to be like, I will not shoot bullets in the house. At mommy. Yeah. At mommy. Did you get batteries for the big gun? I think my husband did. Yeah, but we haven't fired it off yet. We've just been firing the little one. Yeah, a big one's a big one. It's a big one. Does it carry multiple bullets in this?
Starting point is 00:12:44 You don't even put bullets in the thing. It's got a... It's like a chamber. Oh, wow, yes. Like a... You rode it and it's like... Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:51 I would have never bought that for somebody in my house. Right. But since it wasn't in my house... No. And, well, you ask what's going down this weekend. I'm sure that is what's going down this weekend. Is that chamber machine gun that you gave him?
Starting point is 00:13:04 Well, Eddie and I are about to head off to Texas and do Amarillo in El Paso. And we're taking a couple buddies with us, too, to ride on the road, which would be good. Because we're recording our live record and... like three weeks. We have like three, after this weekend we have like three shows and that's it and we're doing a live record in Little Rock. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:20 So. Just trying to load up on songs. Yeah, shorter songs. So more, more songs and shorter songs, but funny songs. So we're gonna head out now. But thank you all for hanging out.
Starting point is 00:13:31 By the way, Fresno, the big fare, you can get your pre-order tickets. Does I mean know that password? Oh, I just had it up. To that? Yeah, hold on.
Starting point is 00:13:40 It's a big fair in Fresno. And you can come to that. today the pre-sell tickets go up and also I've been saying we're playing the state fair in Kansas in Wichita it's not in Hutchinson so
Starting point is 00:13:52 that's where we're playing there you don't have the password I don't have that password Mike did you have it Mike D has it you can just say it in the microphone he's finding it he's finding it
Starting point is 00:14:08 Bones 19 Bones 19 What is that Oh the password 2019 yeah yeah the year Or are you like forever 19 in your brain?
Starting point is 00:14:18 Well, according to Amy, that's who I date. Oh. What? You took one to a wedding. She was 223. Yeah, she was not 19, Amy. She was not 19. No, she looks 19.
Starting point is 00:14:29 No, she really didn't. I'm just kidding. You're such a hater. I'm not a hater. It was a joke. You brought it up. I didn't even bring it up. You brought it up.
Starting point is 00:14:37 We haven't talked about that in weeks. I hold on to things. Let me tell you guys a quick story. Oh, my gosh. If you go over to my Instagram story, you'll see a picture of my dog. and he sleeps sometimes I'll hold him he just falls asleep with his head lean back he just lets his head fall back and I thought the picture was kind of funny I was gonna put it on my main feed but my forehead was a little wrinkly like my brow no I didn't put it on my main feed you need to put it up there no I didn't put it on my answer story because I didn't want to get ridiculed by you I wouldn't ridicule you I never ever my heart has never yeah my heart but I'm now making life decisions based on okay that is on you because I have explained over and over that was not me that said it. It was a professional that
Starting point is 00:15:17 that's what she loves to do for people. So she brought up that she would love to do it for you. I did not say I agreed. Why you stuttering? Pull the tape. Because then you make me second guess if I said it, but now I know I didn't. Like I stuttered because my brain was thinking. Did I say that? Why would you bring it up? I didn't bring it up just now you did. No, I'm just telling you, you've now affected my life
Starting point is 00:15:38 in a not so positive way. If I had a superpower, I'd be to erase thoughts like that. Oh, wow. Oh, wow. I'd be like, men and black style. And then it would just erase. Because I do not want you feeling that way. I would not want anybody to make me feel that way.
Starting point is 00:15:54 So I certainly don't want to. I just build you up. And I'm trying to build you up. You look great. Thank you. You don't need that. You should post that picture on your main feed. Inspiration to all out there.
Starting point is 00:16:07 All the what? All the people to just post the pictures, even they're uncomfortable with. Even though you shouldn't be uncomfortable with it. All right. We just got to go. Shows over. Right? Is it over?
Starting point is 00:16:19 Yeah, we're done. Have a good weekend, everybody. We'll see you guys. Wow. What's up, Eddie? Oh, man. That was a lot. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:26 Welcome to my life. I've seen mom and dad fight. Can I stop, please, mom, dad? Eddie, you're older than mom and dad. So, shut up. I mean, but what are mom and dad fighting about whether or not daddy needs Botox or not? That's even crazier.
Starting point is 00:16:37 This is just not. How much it costs? No, bone, stop, stop. What? It depends on how many units you need. How many units I need? All the units? I don't say a lot.
Starting point is 00:16:47 I'm not saying anything. Probably like $5. You barely need it. You don't need it. What do you mean? Barely. So I do need it? Oh my goodness.
Starting point is 00:16:58 It costs $0 because you don't need it. There you go. All right, here's Monday show. Thank you all and we'll see you. Bye, bye, bye, bye, bye, bye, bye, bye. Monday. No, Friday's show. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:10 Are we still on? I cut it. Oh, there's Friday's show. Thank you. Now, what did you say? You don't have to put it back on. Are we back on? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:18 Did we lose the feed, though? No. Oh, this is Friday's show, not Monday's show. I'm like, what are you doing? Sorry, I've been a Botox in the brain. Here's Friday show. People do get Botox for migraines. Okay.
Starting point is 00:17:31 Yeah. If you did just set with that, to begin with, like, you should get one for your brain fog. Brain fog. Okay. Yeah. All right, here we go. Thank you. The Bobby Bone Show is proud to be supported by Grand Canyon University,

Starting point is 00:21:45 Betterhelp.com slash Bobby. Folks, it's your buddy and mine. Mr. Bobby Bones. Let's go. Transmitting across America. This is the Bobby Bones show. That's right. Welcome to Friday show.
Starting point is 00:22:03 We got a big one today, so let's do this. Morning studio. Morning. dropped his girlfriend's toddlers off at the wrong daycare. Ooh, whoops. And it took most of the day for the daycare to track down their mom. So everyone was just confused. Oh, boy.
Starting point is 00:22:21 The whole thing. A guy in St. Louis dropped his girlfriend's kids off at the wrong place, then insisted it was the right one and then left him there. They're like, no, this is right. It turned out their mom was in the hospital for a medical procedure, but she's okay. The employees were glad the kids just ended up somewhere safe. Here you go. The daycare operators say the kids seemed well cared for, well-groomed, well-fed,
Starting point is 00:22:41 but they had never seen them before today. They say the man brought them inside, insisted this was their daycare, and he took off. The staff called police. Workers say the kids fit right in. They were here most of the day, and that little boy gave enough information
Starting point is 00:22:54 that police were able to track down their grandma, but there was no word initially on the well-being of the kids' parents. So we laugh because it ended up pretty good. Funny story, we get to go, hey, make sure if your boyfriend takes your kids to the daycare, he knows which one, right? Right.
Starting point is 00:23:11 So the more you know here with that, you know, if you... But that's weird, huh? Yeah. My favorite parts that he insists. They're like, no, sir. We've never seen... Yes, you have. Trust me.
Starting point is 00:23:25 You take these kids. And good thing, like, one of the kids could give enough information. I just worry about that. Like, Stevenson, one of his school assignments this week was to memorize his address, like his home address, I guess. And so he's at home practicing, and it was very hard for him. and he was writing it over and over and over and he's like wait where do I live in and then I was like hey buddy but like this is good for you to know but like don't just start telling people this because I can picture him being like hi I'm Stevenson I live at and I don't understand the assignment per se other than I guess now it's good that he knows because if something like this were to happen and he were to be stuck somewhere he needs to know at least now I know he's got down my mom she's on the boppy bone show hopefully that would figure well I've had to work for the same thing with Mike d but like okay this is the address if you're long I want to go to Seth and Austin who's on the phone.
Starting point is 00:24:15 Hey, Seth, what's happening, bud? Thanks for calling the show. Hey, Bobby. Thanks for having me on. Morning, studio. Morning. Hey, so I just wanted to call in. So I'm a therapist in Austin and used your, if you have floating goals, they'll float away,
Starting point is 00:24:32 quote with a client of mine yesterday that's super disorganized. And that really seemed to click with him. And it really kind of sparked the session to be. super productive. So I wanted to just call in and say thanks for the inspiration and it was super helpful. Oh, thanks. Wow. My wife and I'm being quite a therapist everywhere or at least once. What's the quote of? Well, and I think with context it makes sense. Just yelling it doesn't make that much sense. But I always say for my goals, I have to really, they have to be in concrete. Like I need to know what I'm trying to get when I'm trying to get it. Otherwise, if it's just a floating goal,
Starting point is 00:25:02 you don't really pay much attention. You like, I get to it eventually. It'll just float away. That's why I say floating goals float away. And I never said that until randomly one day on the show. And I was like, Pretty good advice. And I tried to look, see if I stole it from anywhere because sometimes you just remember stuff. And I didn't. Nice. Yeah, I just want to score one for the little guy on that one. But yeah, with me, I write things down.
Starting point is 00:25:21 I put things on my phone lock screen. I put things in my count, like things I want and when I want to get them by, because I then I'm dedicated to getting it. And if I don't, that's okay. But if you just go, someday I'm going to lose 10 pounds. You're never going to lose 10 pounds. Someday, someday is never. By the 31st of November, that's how you get your goals. by 2011. So anyway, I appreciate that set. Thanks, bud.
Starting point is 00:25:44 Yeah, absolutely. Have a good day. There he is. Yeah, you too. See ya. The great set. So I call him now. Good guys. Here's the Bobby Bones Show podcast, highlight segment of the day. It's real news or fake news where I will give you a news story. You tell me if it actually happened this week in the news or if Mike D just made it up. Okay. Real news or fake news? A man's wig flew off while driving. driving in a convertible and caused a four-car accident. Amy, you're up first.
Starting point is 00:26:17 Three vehicles were involved in a crash on northbound highway 99 near the I-5 split. California Highway Patrol says it was caused by a driver whose wig flew off all driving. He attempted to pull over and retrieve the wig when his BMW convertible crashed into a Nissan Armada. The driver suffered minor injuries. Everybody else is okay, except the damage on the vehicles. There were four vehicles in total in the crash. Is that a real story or a fake story? Again, the headline is, a man's wig flew off while driving a convertible and caused a four-car accident.
Starting point is 00:26:46 Wow. Okay, I have no idea. So I'm going to go with real? Oh. It was fake? You made that up. It was so much there. There's something wrong with you.
Starting point is 00:26:57 I mean, there's so much fake detail in there. All right, over to lunchbox. Angry wasps help police catch fleeing fugitive. Here's the story. Did this happen this week in the news or not? A fugitive was captured Thanks to the help of angry wasps Police said the unusual
Starting point is 00:27:16 Sting operation took place Monday after officers tried to arrest a 32-year-old man and trying to serve an outstanding 11-month custodial sentence. The suspect whose name wasn't released fled from police and jumped from a balcony straight into a wasps
Starting point is 00:27:32 nest. The irate insects attacked the man prompting him to run under the street. That's when they saw him. They got stung too, by the way. He was arrested. That is a sting operation I've never heard of. That's fake.
Starting point is 00:27:49 He says fake. Show me fake. It's real. Got him. Damn, Mike Diz is killing it right now. It's a real story. That's a real story, dude. Eddie, you can win it with this one.
Starting point is 00:28:02 Come on. That's true. He found that on the news, Eddie. He's faking us out, though. Ready, Eddie? Yeah. Come on. Do you like it or not?
Starting point is 00:28:19 What are he doing? He's learning it. I'm looking at the news. Oh, I mean, I feel like you're just like sitting here. I like it, bones. Okay. Oh, boy, he changed it up.
Starting point is 00:28:32 I did. A woman is asked to leave a movie theater after extreme flatulence bothers patrons. Okay. A woman was asked to leave an AMC theater in Detroit after other moviegoers
Starting point is 00:28:47 complained about her extreme flatulence. It happened during a showing of Hobbs and Shaw. The Detroit The disruption started during the previews that continued for about 20 minutes. She did not excuse herself. Several people around her began to get up when she refused to stop. No reports if she's back in the theater.
Starting point is 00:29:04 But is this a true story or a fake story? Mike D, I love the creativity, but you go to the movies all the time. You probably thought of it while you were sitting in a movie. He's probably farting. It's probably you. 100% fake. Amy, what would you have said? Real.
Starting point is 00:29:20 Oh, AMC in Detroit. I'd say fake. Generic. Eddie? Come on, Bones. Get the ding. You say it's. Fake.
Starting point is 00:29:29 It is. Yeah. And there's my winner. It was really Mike D. It was really Mike D. A couple days ago. There is. Thank you, man.
Starting point is 00:29:43 Nice job, bro. Yeah, thanks, bro. Hey, by the way, see Eddie and myself tonight in Amarillo, Texas. We'll be doing our comedy and music show The Raging Idiots. And then El Paso tomorrow night. So get tickets at Raging Adidas.com. Yay, big win. All you do is win lately, dude.
Starting point is 00:29:57 Oh, dude, that's kind of... I'm thinking about changing my name a little, my little celebratory song. Maybe till all I do is win. In Spanish? Ooh, that's an idea. How would you say that in Spanish? He doesn't know.
Starting point is 00:30:08 Wait, wait, wait, wait, let me think about it. Mike D, go ahead. Mike D, how would you say all I do? You go ahead, Mike D, what would you say? Cada be you a gano. What? Cada best you go gano. Every time I win.
Starting point is 00:30:20 Every time I win. The Bobby Bones show. Big three stories. Let's go over to our producer, Ramundo. Ramundo, what you got over there? In Tennessee, Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s plane crashed. It rolled off the runway when it landed. Luckily, everybody on board walked away with only minor injuries.
Starting point is 00:30:37 In Hawaii, police are looking for two tourists. We were caught on surveillance video destroying a massive sand sculpture. It was in the lobby of a five-star hotel. If you have any info, contact authorities. And finally, in recall news, a migraine medication has been recalled nationwide due to a dangerous life-threatening bacteria that can move into your bloodstream that comes in the pill. If the box says, R-E-P-L-A-X, take it back for a full refund.
Starting point is 00:31:02 Bobby Boom, come on. I guess Gwyneth Paltrow's store, Goop is coming to town? Is it? I need to go. Oh, you didn't know that, Amy? No. So, maybe. Describe the store, though, for me, because I know she has a brand called Goop,
Starting point is 00:31:14 but is it, like, fru-frew, and... I mean, it's going to be all probably the amazing concoctions and lotions and drinks and and potions and everything that keeps Gwyneth Paltrow glowing. Also, she's rich. Yeah, and then she's selling us all of her stuff for a lot. Is it super expensive? Yeah. I've never been to anything, Goup.
Starting point is 00:31:33 But I know they've been doing pop-up shops around the country and I don't know they were coming here. Well, Eddie loves Gwentith Paltrow. Love her, love her. So did you see the store coming down? I saw it right away. And then I reached out to our sales department quickly. I'm like, we need to get an endorsement for this.
Starting point is 00:31:46 And not we, me. Why are you? Well, just so I can be like, you know, in business with Gwyneth. The face of Goup. I even talk about my wife. She wasn't very happy about that, but I'm like,
Starting point is 00:31:56 this is a big deal for my career. But you're not the... Face of Goup. Right, you're not the... They have men products. Okay. But I don't know they would hire a 40-year-old man.
Starting point is 00:32:07 Oh. I just don't think the passion for... I have so much passion for Gwinneth and what she does. So what do you want to do commercials for it? Yeah, I want to be... Yeah, I want to do radio spots for them. Right.
Starting point is 00:32:19 Can you give me some radio spots? music? Okay, would you... Well, I had to provide a sample spot for the sales department. Oh, you did? I did, I did. Yeah. Okay, and how long is this? 30 seconds. Okay, here's a 30 second commercial. Eddie, are you ready to do your goop? Did you write this yourself? I did. I'm a little nervous, but yeah, I'm ready. Okay, here we go. This is our video producer, Eddie, who loves Gwyneth Paltrow, pitching a commercial for her store goop. Go ahead and action.
Starting point is 00:32:40 Hey, guys, this is Eddie from the Bobby Bone Show, and my friend, Gwenth Paltrow just open up her goop store here in Nashville. You may know Gwyneth from her amazing movies like Iron Man. Shallow Hal and one of my favorites, Country Strong. But enough about her. Let's talk about Goop. Goop is not just a women's store. It's a lifestyle resource for all women. Clothes, beauty products, wellness accessories,
Starting point is 00:33:02 and my favorite is the leather lingerie. So if you like Gwyneth Paltrow and you think she's as hot as I do, and you want to be just like her, you have to go to Goop. I've already been there 10 times. Oh, wow. Go see Gwenith today and tell her Eddie sent you. Seriously, she knows who I am. Shop Beauty.
Starting point is 00:33:20 shop fashion, wellness, and all of that at the Goop store here in Nashville. Well, I mean, dude, isn't that scream, like business partner? It does. You're just a 40-year-old man. No one knows that. Oh, they don't? Nah. And then also go say how to Gwyneth. Like, she's going to be working on her store.
Starting point is 00:33:36 Hi, I'm Gwyneth, welcome to Goop. Yeah, she's never really not going to be there. She won't. I think it's funny. I love her, dude. And the leather lingerie thing's funny. Yeah, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:45 I thought I'd throw that in because I saw that in the menu or whatever they have there at the store. What? Is it a menu? They have food there too, dude. This place is crazy. Leather laundress on the menu? Yeah, it's on the list of stuff. I don't think it's going to work out, but pitch that over to them. Okay. I'm here to prove you wrong. And I love to be proven wrong.
Starting point is 00:34:02 Yeah. All right, there he is. Eddie, trying to get an endorsement with Gwyneth Paltrow. Starting point is 00:37:54 Well, you know, I've called you guys probably a thousand times, and this is the first time I'm ever getting in. Hey, come on, look at this guy. Failing until you don't's what I say. Yeah, yeah, it's awesome, man. But I just want to let everybody know that I appreciate everything you guys do. Been listening to you guys for years, and keep up to good work. Thanks, bud. Appreciate that.
Starting point is 00:38:13 Where you live in Missouri? St. Charles. Love it. Been there. Done that. Yeah. I'd like to do it again. That's right. Boom. All right. Hey, hey, thanks for the call, bud. Yeah, no problem. You guys have a good day. There is. There's Jacob. Hey, let's do on this day in country music. I have a pretty good one right now.
Starting point is 00:38:27 Welcome, welcome, welcome. Here we go. The Bobby Bones Show. On this day in country music. And by pretty good, I don't mean it's like a good one, but it's a real definitive moment in country music. Because on this day, 42 years ago, Elvis Presley died at the age of 42. Oh, wow. He was only 42, which is wild. And as you get close to that age, you're like, oh, that's not that old. Yeah. When you're a kid, you're like 42.
Starting point is 00:38:48 All right, grandpa. But really? Wow. Elvis Prescott had a 42 years old on this day in 1977. On the evening of August 16th, which is today, he was scheduled to fly out of Memphis to begin another tour. And then Ginger Alden discovered him unresponsive on the bathroom floor. Thousands of people gathered outside Graceland to view the open casket. Billy Mann, one of Elvis's cousins, accepted $18,000 to secretly.
Starting point is 00:39:16 photographed the corpse. The picture appeared on the cover of the National Enquirer. Wow, what a weasel. Took the money and put the picture out there. Ginger Alden struck a $105,000 deal with the inquirer for her story, but settled for less when she broke her exclusivity agreement. Ginger was his girlfriend? I believe so, yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:35 Elvis entered the Rock and Royal Hall of Fame in 1986, the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1998, and the Gospel Music Hall of Fame at 2001. Elvis is so popular, he ranked number two, behind Michael Jackson on Forbes list of highest paid late celebrities in 2018 made $40 million last year. But listen, I love Elvis, crushed it. He's not alive anymore.
Starting point is 00:39:58 Eddie thinks he might be. Yeah. I mean, his tombstones misspelled. Aaron is. Correct. And then you go to Grace Land and say, they don't let you upstairs. They will not let you. There's a rope that says you can not go upstairs.
Starting point is 00:40:10 Right, because he's up there. Because there people still live there. That's what they say. Like Elvis. Yeah. Exactly. Anyway, it's a big day. I like to talk about that because I like to list Elvis's achievements.
Starting point is 00:40:22 It's a small town kid from Tupelo, Mississippi. Yep. Making it. It's sad he died on this day. But I love Elvis. I like to share our story. Taking care of business. That's right.
Starting point is 00:40:33 That's why I had him back of his plane. That was a necklace. That was the saying, Amy. TCB? Yeah, did you know that? Because y'all have told that before for me. There you go. The latest from Nashville and Hollywood.
Starting point is 00:40:44 Morgan number two's 30 Second Spinney. Old Dominion announced a self-titled album coming out on October 25th. They also dropped a new song called My Heart is a Bar. My Heart is a bar, and I'm closing it down. So find somewhere else to get drunk in this town. Morgan Wallen shared a new song. It's a collaboration with Diplo called Heartless. Blake Shelton also put out a collaboration called Hell Right with Trace Adkins.
Starting point is 00:41:25 The Lambert shared lots of news. Her new album, Wild Card, is coming on November 1st, and it has a collaboration with Marin Morris on it. Then she dropped another new song off the album. It's called Bluebird. I'm Morgan No. 2. That's her skinny. It's time for the good news. With Amy. Tell me something good.
Starting point is 00:42:08 So there's this little girl. She's only three years old, and she started a lemonade stand to help. At three, she went to her mom and started talking about how she wanted to do a lemonade stand to help other babies. She wanted to fundraise for diapers and bottles. So her mom has a hair salon, so she set up shop outside of that. And people just came by, bought the lemonade, bought the lemonade. And she met her goal and was able to donate baby supplies to a rescue mission that provides transitional housing for women and kids. At three?
Starting point is 00:42:37 At three? Eddie, what's a three-year-old do? Can they talk? Can they know things? Yeah. They can? I mean, they're not super smart, but yeah, they can talk. They're definitely walking around. Can they go?
Starting point is 00:42:46 I'd like to start a lemonade stamp for transition. I don't know one that's done that. That's crazy. I guess now I do. I don't think it was, that's, I was just describing to you who benefited from it. But she said, I think something along the lines of, I want to help babies. I think we should also recognize the mom in this to the mom in the head. And the mom was maybe like, maybe the mom's giving her the credit too.
Starting point is 00:43:07 Regardless, we got good stuff going on. I like that. like three. She's like actually, the earth is suffering from a problem with the ozone layer slowly deteriorating. How old are you, kid? Wait, what? All right, there you go. That's what it's all about.
Starting point is 00:43:21 That was Tell Me Something Good. Bobid Bones Show. Bonehead. Story of the day. This story comes to us from Pennsylvania. A 28-year-old man stole a woman's credit card from her purse and he goes on a little shopping spree and when he goes to pay
Starting point is 00:43:35 they give him the receipt to sign and he's like, man, I don't know what name to sign. He wrote, thief on the receipt line. And so the cashier was like, huh, called police, they reviewed footage, put his picture out there and he was arrested. Here's the thing, you wasn't lying. Right, right. He was being truthful. Does he get a little bonus credit for telling the truth?
Starting point is 00:43:54 Yeah, you got to wonder what was going on in his mind. Why not just scribble? Right. I don't know. Thief. I'm lunchbox. That's your bonehead story of day. Here's Amy's pile of stories.
Starting point is 00:44:06 Fun fact Friday. I always forget, but I'm always so excited when she's. She yells those words. Give me fun fact number one. A groom's best man was initially supposed to serve as an accomplice in case the bride needed to be kidnapped from disapproving parents. Explain that to me. Break that down. So if the parents didn't approve of the bride getting married and they tried to like take her so she didn't get married, the groomsman, the best man would step in and be like, you're not taking her. She's marrying my dude. My friend.
Starting point is 00:44:37 And when did this stop being a thing? I don't know. But, I mean, you had to wonder where they came from. That's where. Yeah, I guess. Mildly fun. Let's roll on with the next one. Mildly funny.
Starting point is 00:44:51 Okay, this is fun. Frank Sinatra's publicist would audition and pay girls $5 to scream at his early performances to get the crowd excited. Great. I like that one. Yeah. Sounds like something you would do. That's what, when Donald Trump first started running for president,
Starting point is 00:45:06 he hired people to be at his, when he very first started, when he was He hired people to come be in his crowd. Wow. Yeah. Yeah. So it's like something I do for her. No. What else?
Starting point is 00:45:17 So the Walton family, the family behind Walmart, they make about $4 million every hour. Every hour. Oh, my goodness. I thought you were going to say day and I was going to be like, wow. But every hour. Yeah, so nearly $100 million a day. Ooh. Isn't that crazy?
Starting point is 00:45:33 That's a lot of, I mean, so then they're billionaires, right? Yeah, but, but, but, but, but, but, billionaires. Wow. Yeah, massive. What's after a billion? A trillion? A trillion? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:41 I guess there's not a trillion air yet. I mean, it seems like they're working on it. Or Amazon. I think Bezos was richer, though. Gosh. All right, what else? Potato chip bags? They're not full of air.
Starting point is 00:45:52 They're full of nitrogen gas. And that's what prevents the chips from oxidizing and going stale. So sometimes you're like, oh, why is there so much air? I just want all a bag of chips. Well, they can't do that. They've got to fill it up. Well, you never heard me complaining because I'm always like, why these bags are full of nitrogen?
Starting point is 00:46:08 That's really tough. technically what you should say. Yeah. Don't fall for it. When somebody says something about that. Why can't lays put just less nitrogen and more chips? All right. Give me one more, Amy. And lastly, Bill Gates once changed his school's program codes so that he was
Starting point is 00:46:27 placed in classes with mostly female students. Now that I can understand. I once cheated on my valentines. Messing with those Scantron. Scantron. Well, what happened was they did this test back when I was a kid, six, seventh grade. And they were like, fill out your scantrotter on what you like.
Starting point is 00:46:45 It was like a Valentine's little fun thing you did for a dollar. And then went to the student council, right? And I was like, well, this isn't like a real test. So I fell at every bubble and matched every girl. So smart. It was the smartest thing I think I've ever done in my entire life. How many girlfriends did you get after that? Well, none.
Starting point is 00:47:00 But I at least got a shot to be like, look, we matched. You want, they'd none of them wanted to, but that was okay. I was pretty proud of myself then. Amy, what is your second story? Well, so Amazon has said that it's facial recognition. Recognition. I was like, why am I saying that word wrong? It can now identify fear.
Starting point is 00:47:21 Crazy. Right? Yes. I would assume your face does something. I would assume there's a common, like, mild eye, squint or something involved. Or the big eyes. Well, get this. It can accurately identify seven emotions.
Starting point is 00:47:36 Happy, sad. Angry, surprised, disgusted, calm and confused. I would assume our faces generally do the same thing with those emotions. Like there were probably some really small parts of us. I bet it's not 100% accurate, but I assume it's pretty good. All right, what else? Okay, so speaking of technology, this teenage girl named Dorothy, she got her phone taken away so she couldn't tweet.
Starting point is 00:48:01 And so she started using her Nintendo DS. And then her mom was like, what? No, I'm taking that away. So then she started using her Wii. She had all these different ways that she was ending up online. And finally her mom confiscated everything. And then she realized, how can I get online? My parents have a smart fridge.
Starting point is 00:48:18 So she went to her parents' smart refrigerator and started tweeting that way. And now there's like a hashtag trending online that says free Dorothy because they just want her to be able to have her technology back. Get rid of the refrigerator. She was tweeting from her fridge. Yeah. That's terrible. That's awesome. I need to get one of those.
Starting point is 00:48:37 I know it was like these smart bridges, I don't know they could do all that. There you go. Let me say this too. Well, let me read this text first. Okay. I'm super confused. Are Amy's kids homeschooled or are they going to school? Okay.
Starting point is 00:48:51 Amy talks about them going to school, but she says they're homeschooled. That's from Mallory in Colorado. Valid confusion. So they go to a place that it's a homeschool setting. So it's one-on-one teaching, but it is at a quote-unquote school. It's called the learning lab. And so that's where they go. But they don't have any other kids in their class or anything.
Starting point is 00:49:13 It'd be like if we had a teacher coming to the house. Or I was the teacher. I feel like you should pick one, though. Like, are they homeschooled or not? Well, that's what they call it. It's legitimately what it's called. Is it a home? No.
Starting point is 00:49:27 Technicality. I know, but I guess I just sometimes like to clarify, too, that they're not in a normal school setting. Like, that's why it's hard for them to have made friends yet. Like, they don't make friends. What else goes to that school? Like other kids? Other kids, but at all different times during the day. The schedules vary from 8 to 5, and they only go three hours a day
Starting point is 00:49:45 because they don't have all the other stuff so they can cram it all in and get it all done. Amy, here's another question. Whatever happened to the bird in your fireplace? I think it died. Or it freed itself and is living a long line. You would smell it, I would think. Well, I don't know. I mean, it's in the fireplace.
Starting point is 00:50:01 It hasn't, we haven't like set a fire or anything. And I would think it would have fallen down to the bottom. No, ours are capped off. We didn't even use them. That's why I would have, like, gone up there and tried to get it. No, you wouldn't. No, and then a listener also told me that it sounded because I played the audio, that it sounded like it might be bats.
Starting point is 00:50:20 But I don't know, whatever it is, not tweeting, chirping now. Well, there's a couple text-in updates they wanted and you gave it to them. Okay. You tell me, how should I start saying they go to school? I don't think they're homeschooled. Okay. It's just a special, it's a special. They're to special school, but they have no friends?
Starting point is 00:50:37 No. I went to a non-pleasure school and I had no friends. Yeah, they go to school. Yeah, and the goal is for them to go to school school, but we're trying to get them caught up with their English and all the things that you think would be that is going to help them be with their kids, their level. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:50:58 You're welcome. Coming up at the top of the hour, Red Aiken's in the studio, he's going to play that in my truck and he's going to play a bunch of other songs that he wrote that you guys wouldn't even know he wrote because he didn't talk about it, except they're massive smash hits for other artists for other artists.
Starting point is 00:51:09 And then Eddie and I will be in Amarillo tonight and El Paso tomorrow night comedy and music with the raging idiots raging idiots. Raging Idiots.com.
Starting point is 00:51:15 And that's Amy's Pile. A morning corny. What do you call a chemist who makes sodas? What do you call a chemist who makes sodas? A physicist. That's pretty good.
Starting point is 00:51:30 Phizisist. That's good. I do enjoy that one. That was the morning corny. It's time for the good news. Tell me something good. A group of middle school football players were caught well in the act of helping an elderly woman get through a busy road in her wheelchair. They saw struggling in her wheelchair to get down this grassy path.
Starting point is 00:51:58 And she couldn't move. And there was a parade. And they were like, we got to help her. And since there were no sidewalks, they just picked her up and carried her across it. Starting point is 00:56:03 That's AMU. dot edu slash military The Friday morning conversation with Red Aiken's Good to see you, bud Hey man, good to see you. You know, I mentioned this when you walked in here. I was trying to book the Pope.
Starting point is 00:56:19 No, man. Like I can get you come over to the house, but it's like he didn't wake up that early. What time you wake up in the morning now? What time you wake up in the morning now? It depends on what time of the year it is. Yeah. If it's hunting season.
Starting point is 00:56:28 Really early? I'm up at four. Yeah. If it's not hunting season, I'm up at 11. I was talking to TR about having you out on the show with them. How do you feel about that? Awesome. It's a fun? It's so cool. It's so cool. It's like to watch the people's faces. Like you got a lot of, T.R.'s
Starting point is 00:56:45 crowd is a lot of young folks, but their parents go with them. I mean, you see six-year-old girls with the T.R. shirt on out there, sleep on their dad's shoulder, you know, at 10.30 or whatever. But so you got the parents out there who remember me and, you know, some of my old songs. And then you got the kids out there going, who is this dude? Like, I'm like, Google Thomas Rett's dad. And then, you know, go from there. So it's fun because I play a mixture of songs that I had out in the 90s and then songs that I've written over the last few years.
Starting point is 00:57:18 And so it's cool to go out there and sing some of my old songs for the people who remember. And then all the young kids are like, oh, I didn't know he wrote that song. Or that's Thomas Rett's dad, for real? You know, like, so it's kind of fun. So you're out with Thomas Rett, Dustin Lynch, both, who you've written songs. So you can't play those songs. They're going to play later, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:35 Well, every night before the show, I'll tell Dustin, I was like, hey, if the crowd's weak, I might have to yank small-tum boy from you. So don't be mad if you hear it coming out of the amp tonight. When you go on the road and it's you and TR, are you guys riding? That's all we do. Really? I mean, we got riders scrambling to the bunks when TR walks off the bus to get 20 minutes sleep.
Starting point is 00:57:57 Like, we wake up, if you're, we have a rider bus out there. And so different riders come every weekend. If you're not on that bus by 9.30 in the morning, you might not be on that song that day. TR's up. He's already worked out. He's working on a song. Like I came in late the other day,
Starting point is 00:58:13 and T.R. was like, here comes, Dad, just in time for the bridge. You know. And then so he writes all day until about sound check.
Starting point is 00:58:21 He goes and does sound check, comes back to the bus, see what we got going on. And then he plays his show, and he walks off the stage after he just played in front of 25,000 people, walks back on the rider bus and goes, dude,
Starting point is 00:58:32 we got to write two tonight. So you'll write after. after a show? Yes, I can't believe it. Yeah. You're right before a show. He'll do the show. He'll do it all day long. After the show. And then after the show, he comes back to the bus, and he's either, let's write another one or let's finish the one we, you know, we had going. And he's already, I mean, you know, he's obviously not, can't record every one of these songs, but he's already gotten three this year that we've written cut by other artists. I don't go, I know this song's not for me, so I'm on send it to so-and-so, and they're like,
Starting point is 00:59:02 yeah, I'll cut it. you know with you i guess do you see when you moved to town when did you move to town what year 92 okay were you like that did you come to town and you're like let's go is it it's the genetic thing with them well back when i was coming along we didn't have pro tools and stuff like that you know so it was like sitting in your room and playing a guitar on a cassette tape and having to wait a month to get a demo back um i mean i was as fired up yes uh but but um not like t r i mean it's just like we even his manager called me the other day and says, hey, do you think we could slow down the writing
Starting point is 00:59:35 on the road at least by Saturday night? Because T.R.'s voice is kind of gone by Saturday. And I said, you need to call him. I'm like, we're all begging to not write another song, and he's the one that wants to do it. But that just proves, you know, to me, how dedicated he is. And it's just in his bones. He just can't not write a song when we're out there.
Starting point is 00:59:57 Red Akins is here. When you move to town, and I say this about you, You're the original Sam Hunt, meaning you play college ball. You're an athlete. You can sing. You can play. You can do it all. I mean, you had it going, huh, when you were like 22 years old?
Starting point is 01:00:12 Yeah. You look back and once you could slap that guy in the head and be like, man, you got it all right now. I don't know if I had it all. I never know if I have it all. It's constantly evolving, you know, music businesses. I think you can't get stuck. You have to keep moving. You have to keep inventing new ways, you know, to write songs to get inspiration.
Starting point is 01:00:30 I mean, at this point, I've written so many songs. It's like, what else can you write about? You know, so it's like constantly, constantly evolving. But, I mean, I was fired up to get here. And I was 22 years old. TR was two. And back then, you know, I think more back then, this business was so far away that you couldn't grab it.
Starting point is 01:00:54 Now it's all over the Internet and Twitter and Instagram, and you know what your favorite stars are doing at all times. dude I don't know what Hank Jr. was doing. I don't know what Whalen was doing. I can only imagine what they were doing. You want to follow on Waylon on Snapchat? Yeah, that would be a fun Snapchat, I bet. John Anderson, I wonder what he's doing today, fishing. But, you know, the music business was so far away from you that every star was 10 times the star in your mind that they were. and so moving here just to be able to say I heard
Starting point is 01:01:30 I mean I saw Conway Twitty walk out of a building I was like dude I just saw Conway Twitty walk out of a building you know what I mean it was like the coolest thing on earth for me whenever you get to town let's talk about that in my truck did you have that kind of in the back pocket before you got here? No you didn't see no I did not I wrote with Tom Shapiro and Chris Waters one day
Starting point is 01:01:50 and they were just trying to trying to get to know me and asking me where I was from. And I don't know how the story came up of an ex-girlfriend in high school that I drove by our house one day and another dude's truck was in her drive. Like, that never was supposed to be a song. It was just me telling a story. And they said, what'd you do when you saw it,
Starting point is 01:02:10 when you drove by? And I was like, well, I was a quarterback and he was a linebacker, so I didn't really do anything. Except drive by and go, well, you know, that ain't my truck sitting there. And then they go. What'd you just say? You know, and so I just said that ain't my truck in a sentence.
Starting point is 01:02:27 I didn't really mean for that to be a song. And so they go, let's pursue that. Let's run that down. Yeah. And you go, all right, so you sit and you write this song. And when you finish it, are you like, all right, it's pretty good? Or are you like, that's just another song you wrote? I don't think, I mean, I don't know if we were completely fired up about it that day,
Starting point is 01:02:44 but I went and did a demo of it and played it for the people at the label. And they were really fired up about it, you know. And so it's just one of those things that you don't know why a song works or doesn't work, you know, and why does one last as long as it does. Because people still sing this one. Like, we still play this one. This one's still the jam. I don't know why.
Starting point is 01:03:07 You know, it's like there's certain songs from the 90s like Ma Maria and Dust on the Bottle and, of course, Chattahoochee and a lot of songs. And it's just like, you know, we just wrote a song one day about something that happened in my life. and maybe the song's just so true and a lot of people have had that happen to them that it stuck around. I don't know why it has. I'm thankful that it has. Will you play verse and chorus of that?
Starting point is 01:03:31 You still play this in your shows? You started it? You close it or start with it? I close with this song. All right. Here is. Red Akins, everybody. Here we go.
Starting point is 01:03:39 Hey, guys, so because of licensing roles, we can't play anything with music on this IHeartRadio channel or podcast anymore, but you can go to bobbybones.com to see it. We hate that we had to take it down. wasn't our decision, but I just wanted to keep you up, and we wanted to keep up as much as possible. So go to bobbybones.com to watch or hear whatever you're missing right now, and thank you for
Starting point is 01:03:58 listen to the show, and sorry about all the legal stuff. That's awesome. Yeah, we'll be playing that in your town this weekend. Coming to a town near you. Man, listen to this. Red Aiken's is here. So you came over at the house, and we were talking about John Pardy and Dard of My Boots, and you literally had on the boots.
Starting point is 01:04:18 Are those the same boots? Are those the same boots? The same boots? Because they look similar. Yeah, same boots. I bought these boots in 2010. And so with that song, you looked at your boots and you were like, what? Well, I was just like, we couldn't think of anything to write.
Starting point is 01:04:31 So I'm just sitting there, like, staring at the floor, praying to God. We'd come up with something. And I guess I'd been at my farm and I had mud all over my boots. And I was like, this is probably not a great idea. But what about dirt on my boots? We don't have anything else. And so how we turn that into, you know, a song that really propelled John's career. I don't know. That's another song when we did the demo that day. I walked out of the studio and it's like,
Starting point is 01:04:57 I don't know if it's any good or not. And do you play this one when you play out with T.R? This is what I start the show with. All right. Let's act on forward to show right now. Here he is. Out on the stage now. Right on the stage now. Right. Unfortunately, I get no intro. Oh, you just have to walk out cold. And all these 14 year old girls are going, that's not Dustin. That's not Russell. You have 29 number ones. Which of those number ones of those number ones of all of them where you're like, well, this is probably not ever going to happen. The most surprising. Oh, for sure, boys around here. Because. Well, if you could have heard the original demo, which Blake
Starting point is 01:05:31 pretty much cut it like the demo, but it was so raw. I mean, we wrote that song in 2011 or 12. And I don't know if the kind of hip-hop infused thing was totally happening quite yet, you know. And I was just like, this demo was so not what most people hear all the time. I'm not sure if this is going to work. Like maybe Kid Rock or Uncle Cracker would cut this. I don't know. But I called Craig Wiseman, who I wrote it with in Dallas Davis. And I said, we for sure got to take the red, red, redneck off of the demo.
Starting point is 01:06:05 Because I just, I mean, it's just crazy, you know. And then the little ad libs, you know, like, what? That's right. And Craig Wiseman said he had already sent it to Blake. And it was, you know, Blake loves it the way it is. So it's going to stay the way it is. And so, you know, kudos to Blake one of the country's dudes out there to hear through that demo and make it what it became. Let's hear a little bit of that.
Starting point is 01:06:29 Red Aiken's here. Here is the song that he did not expect to be a number one. Right. Boys around here. So this is Dallas Davidson's part from the demo that they ripped from the demo and actually made the record. Come on. Yeah. This is crazy.
Starting point is 01:06:45 This is so fun. You have, I'm looking at some of your songs here. You wrote for Luke I don't want this night to end Hunting Fishing and Loving Every Day And I was talking to Luke about that song And he was like I just never thought that song
Starting point is 01:06:57 Be Too Country That's one of those words Like I didn't know it ever be something Because it was so country Yeah And it's so detailed too Like if you don't fish and hunt There's a lot of lyrics in that song
Starting point is 01:07:06 That you definitely got to Google Were you surprised that it was a single? Oh it's very surprised And when we wrote it on the farm tour Which Luke does every fall And we just wrote it because That's what we do you know and Luke was like oh you know I don't know if this is a hit but I love it you know and so um
Starting point is 01:07:28 I remember the day that it came out I got so many phone calls from other writers in town going oh my gosh like hunting fishing and loving every day is my jam like the old school guitar sound at the beginning I mean people that don't hunt don't fish I mean like Shane McAnally I remember you know don't hunt fish none of that stuff he texts me and like hunting fish
Starting point is 01:07:51 and love every day I hate you like everybody just loved the old school I guess had an Alabama Hank Jr. 80s
Starting point is 01:08:01 country feel to it you know and it was just a real song you ever feel like putting out a record I get asked a lot
Starting point is 01:08:07 to do it and I mean I would only do it and throw it on Spotify I wouldn't like go you wouldn't do record promo
Starting point is 01:08:16 I wouldn't go try to tour and do the whole radio thing again. I mean, that's just a, that's a young man's game, man. You know, I let TR and Dustin and those guys do that. I mean, it would be, it'd be kind of fun, I guess, but I'm just, I'm happy where I'm at, just writing songs and going on the road every now and then
Starting point is 01:08:33 and writing with other artists. What about playing shows that are your shows? Like, hey, come out. I did, I did two shows. I did a show in Nebraska and Minnesota last month on my own. Fun? It was, it was terrifying because I haven't done it. like 10 years played two nights with Tyler Farr and and the and Landcoe and there were some other acts
Starting point is 01:08:53 on it and I got to play like 75 minutes and um I didn't know if I if I could do it or not but it was uh it's really really cool because it when I play with Thomas Schradt I'm only playing like 20 minutes you know so we're just out there and we're done but to have to stand up there for 75 minutes and you know a lot of the crowd's 20 years old and they're more they're more there to see Tyler and and I'm almost like, I don't know if I can make it 75 minutes, you know. But it turned out, it turned out to be awesome because I think they, because I tell stories about the songs in between that I've, that I've written. And I think it's kind of a fun education for a lot of people to go,
Starting point is 01:09:35 oh, I didn't realize, you know, he wrote that or I didn't realize that song came from there. So it's just a little more than going out there and just singing songs. But you liked it. It made you at least think about doing it a little more. Well, I mean, I came off stage and I guess the crowd could see me walking from the stage to the bus, and a lot of people kind of like ran over to the fence, you know, and like, hey, sign my boot, you know, and I hadn't done any of that and so long. It was kind of cool to see people run over there and, you know, want you to take a picture of them through the chain link fence and stuff like that.
Starting point is 01:10:08 But I don't know if I could do it full time. Red Akins is here. All right. Well, listen, I'm a big fan. You came over and we did a really great podcast, which is, you came over and we did a really great podcast, which is kind of like your history. And again, I had no idea you were such a good athlete until we start talking about it.
Starting point is 01:10:21 Like, that's crazy to me that... Yeah, I was all right. It's like a golfer. Someone that goes, I'm okay, they're actually really good. Yeah, it was pretty good, man. Yeah. And football and music have always been my two passions. But when you come from a town where I'm from in South Georgia
Starting point is 01:10:38 named Valdaosta, where you just win state championships, after state championships, that's a dream that you can go after. but music just wasn't something you could do back then i didn't you know there was no american idol there was no the voice there was no youtube there was none of that stuff and so moving to nashville was like moving to mars you know so it was something that it was a secret dream i always had but but i'd take my guitar to football camp and we just sit in the locker room and play linter skinner and stuff like that but i didn't ever think it'd go any further were you the guy in high school that was the music guy or did you play
Starting point is 01:11:12 the guitar around high school oh yeah definitely they knew you as to i was the guy yeah Yeah, so if you're having a party or whatever, Rick, bring your guitar, you know, so, because I could play Led Zeppelin. I could play Hank Jr. I could play Grateful Dead. I mean, just whatever people wanted to hear, I've always had a knack for remembering songs and being able to play him. When Tom Strzre goes, hey, I think I want to do music full time. What did you tell him? His mom hated the idea. I know that. I was nervous for him, not because I didn't think he had the talent. It's just because, man, you know how it is. I mean, it's just a grind, you know, and I just didn't know if he had the stamina and the will to go out there and get crushed a lot. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:12:01 Especially nowadays with Twitter and Instagram, you know, back when I was playing, you know, you didn't know if somebody loved the show or hated it really unless they booed. Then you go, I guess that guy didn't like the show. But now you get booed 24 hours a day on social. media. And not even about just about your music. I was talking to him. He's like, people hate my beard. He's like, go right. My beard sucks. He goes, I didn't even ask about my beard. No, you could, he could tweet, you know, happy birthday to Ada James and somebody goes, country music sucks. That's their comment, you know. But nowadays, you, you get to see, you know, obviously his comments are a million I love you, and there's one. I hate you,
Starting point is 01:12:42 but I just didn't know, you know, how he was going to make it through. But I believe, you know, his faith in God. And I think Lauren has been always just such a backbone. Anytime he's feeling down or out, call Lauren, you know. And we're always talking about God on the road. And he told me he said, Dad, Scott, you know, something convicted me this weekend. I went to church and I want to start doing this more on the road and blah, blah, blah. So I think the number one thing that sustains him through it all is he's got so many family members that got his back and Lauren,
Starting point is 01:13:21 and he just loves God, you know, and totally believes that it's all in his hands. Red Aiken's here. He's going to be out with Thomas Red. It's Thomas's tour, the VHS tour, and Dustin Lynch is out there and Russell Dickerson. And the guy that walks out first with no intro and no pyro, no big screen. That's Red Aiken. You want to do a small-town boy for us? So, Rett's here.
Starting point is 01:13:43 This will be the last song he plays. Wrote this for Dustin Lynch, who then plays it later. And you don't play it in front of Dustin Lynch. I don't, but I want to. Except the last show of the tour. It's probably going to happen. You just play all their songs. Our last show, we play here in town at Bridgestone Arena.
Starting point is 01:13:57 So there might be something going on that night. Here's Red Aiken's everyone. Also, we wrote this song on Luke Brown's Farm Tour also. Just sitting in the back of the bus one day. This has been awesome for me. Thank you, man. You know, I like you a lot. Thank you. You've always been super kind to me.
Starting point is 01:14:14 Thanks for coming in. Appreciate that. Oh, y'all. Thank you very much. Thanks for playing. There he is. Red Akins. We'll see him next time in 10 years.

Starting point is 01:18:44 if you ever looked at the ladies' Instagram from that called in yesterday and asked you out on the spot that was interviewing for the teacher job. Yeah, there was a teacher. She's called in the last few days and been giving us updates about her interview process. And yesterday she was like, hey, let's go on a date.
Starting point is 01:18:57 And I was like, well, let me look at your Instagram. And I did. And it was only motivational sayings and quotes. Oh, so there's no pictures? There's no picture. I forgot what happened with that. That's the update. Okay.
Starting point is 01:19:08 Jay, what would you do? If someone said, hey, let's go out but you haven't seen them and they give you their Instagram and it's just words of affirmation basically what would you do? Yeah, that's how I felt that same thought.
Starting point is 01:19:22 There's not much you can do with that. That's what I'm saying. Her voice was nice though. Yeah, but so is mine and some girls go, I'll pass. Yeah, but she'll likely affirm you in all the things.
Starting point is 01:19:33 Those weren't even her words though. Those are words that she took from another person's Instagram, you know? So I don't know, we'll see how it goes, but pride now. probably no. Hey Jay, thank you, bud. Yep, thank you, guys. Have a good day. There he is. Jay and Georgia. By the way, getting rave reviews for our Red Aiken segment.
Starting point is 01:19:50 Glad we were able to get him in. Awesome. Yeah. So good. Red and I kind of, I guess, buddied up a little bit six, seven months ago. We did a whole hour podcast on the Bobbycast. It's a fantastic one. You probably could have gone longer than that, right? If you want to scroll back and hear that, it's just Red and I talking about his life. Like, check that out. Just search Bobbycast, wherever you listen to podcasts. Getting a lot of text. about that, people going, hey, thanks, I love it. If you look at my Instagram story right now, you'll see my dog. My dog is a bit out of control again. He's regressed a bit in his...
Starting point is 01:20:20 What happened? Well, he's just gotten bad again. Do your kids ever do that? Yeah, I guess you're right. If you put it that way, I totally understand. Because we've got the great days where I think we're moving along in the right direction and then we take two steps back. If you're just hopping on the show, I have a dog, he's about three and a half months old right now.
Starting point is 01:20:37 He's a puppy, he's a bulldog, and he chews on. everything and he's he doesn't bite it's not like but he's like he's like he wants to chew all the time on everything and for a while it would kind of stop the chewing and people had and listen people had instagramed and tweeted all these ideas and really none of them worked it's just i tried everything and so and he's just all over the place so what i've done is i filled a plastic bottle like this i have a bottle of water here what it is i filled it with coins i got this from the guy i'm sending my dog to next week i filled it with coins and every time he chews, you take it and you go,
Starting point is 01:21:12 and you shake it right by his head. He didn't like that. Matter of fact, I don't like that either when I do it. It doesn't make me feel good when I do it either. But he's like, it's chilled him out a little bit. Yeah. But man, he is just so chewing and he's getting strong. So now it's chewing actually hurts because he's gotten bigger.
Starting point is 01:21:29 Eddie saw him yesterday. He was in jail yesterday when I went to the house. Because he'd been chewing. Amy, he has this little jail pin, but it's on the floor so he can pretty much slide anywhere in the house. He moves the jail pin. Yeah. He's getting stronger.
Starting point is 01:21:42 Yeah. He's in like white collar jail. Right. He just gets in it and moves the pin around wherever he wants to go. Right. It was like Andy Griffith and they let him out at night. Be like, all right, we'll see you tomorrow. Come get yourself.
Starting point is 01:21:51 Or in the daytime. Just come back at night. Oh, doesn't get yourself back in jail. So it's not the same as it's like, it's Kenil White. I trained to be potty trained. But anyway, it's just a lot. And any time, because I would be, I like pop them on the butter, pop them in the nose. He just thinks I'm wrestling with him.
Starting point is 01:22:06 Yeah. He's just like, all right, cool. Let's go. so I have this bottle of coins and I'm just shaking it. So will that work on kids? You should try it. Let's see who it works faster on.
Starting point is 01:22:15 The kids are the dog. All right. I might try it. You don't hit him with it, Amy. No, I would never. Mommy said you just shake it. We were in my office this morning. We were talking because Amy and I sit in for about an hour
Starting point is 01:22:26 and catch up a little bit, but we do commercials for all the markets that we're in and liners. And I was like, yeah, I was talking about my dog. I showed her on my Instagram story. You can see my dog because he has the thing where he likes to jump on my head. And one of the stories is him. I put him up on bed. and he just decides I'm good and just pounces on me
Starting point is 01:22:41 pounces straight up and I was like Amy you wouldn't get it you just have kids yeah like one day you'll have a dog and you'll understand because it's a lot more how much it changes your life yeah it's it's a lot more than just kids right I know being a single dad's tough it'll get easier with you and the dog is that right yeah there were times I was thinking in fact we put the kids to bed last night at like you know eight o'clockish and you know everything went smooth we read it was all good and I was thinking there were times at the beginning of this adoption when we first got them, that it would be like midnight, 1 a.m.
Starting point is 01:23:11 And I had to be up for work, and I could not get them to go to sleep. And it was just a struggle. And I was like, this is never going to happen. And then now I'm like, you know what? Never say never. Because now it happens. So Bobby, it gets easier. Thank you.
Starting point is 01:23:25 Thanks. A lot of single dads out there like myself are listening. Right. I know. And I just want to tell you guys it gets better. Sometimes we just need some encouragement. I wish I just knew someone who put like affirming things on her Instagram that I could date. to help me get through this.
Starting point is 01:23:36 That would be amazing. Just motivational things. You can only wish. On her Instagram. Yeah. So I dealt with the dog yesterday. Eddie and I wrote a little bit yesterday. I had a pretty good day yesterday.
Starting point is 01:23:46 Tonight, by the way, I'm not taking the dog to Amarillo or El Paso tomorrow. So if you're looking for him, he's on probation. I'm just going to leave him in the jail and leave for the weekend. Don't worry. He'll slide anywhere he wants around. He'll move it all around, just fine. I'm not going to do that, by the way, so don't tweet in or text in. But did that?
Starting point is 01:24:03 I got the Olive Garden pasta pass yesterday. You got it? Mm-hmm. Okay, cool. I did just because I was like, let me see if I can get that lifetime one. It wasn't so much about the month one, but it was, you have to, they only take 50 people or so to get a life one if you get, if you get, if you're in the first people that get the, whatever. So which one did you get? Well, they don't have, they're awarding the life one today.
Starting point is 01:24:24 Okay. So you kind of put yourself in the mix in the drawing. Like your lottery, huh, yeah? Yeah. So I'm trying to get the life pasta pass. Wow, you're in the mix for a life posth past. How crazy will that be if you get it? I'm going to eat so much salad.
Starting point is 01:24:36 Yeah. I'm going to go every day. Guys, I'm going to get my salad, please. No, bones. It's a pasta pass. Yeah, but their salad. It's so good. Lunchbox, you got one too?
Starting point is 01:24:42 Yeah, I got one, but I doubt I'm going to get, I mean, 50 people out of that. I doubt I'm getting the one that you get a lifetime, but I'm excited for the next month and a half. Pasta, pasta, pasta. And guess what's how much it costs? Free $9. Not free. Way to pay $100 for the car. Well, yeah, but once you go to.
Starting point is 01:24:59 So not free, but when you go in, you just show the car and be like, give me all the pasta I want. So when you use a gift card, you go, well, it's free. Yeah, that's how I think of it. It's free. Interesting. You want to do the results for the sad song draft? Did you win Morgan number two? Because she's all tweeting yesterday. I didn't campaign for this one.
Starting point is 01:25:17 I didn't campaign either. You should have because it was close when you, and I looked after the show, you were in it. Oh, wow. Yesterday we did a sad song draft. Yeah, Amy, you were in it. How close? Pretty close. If you had a campaigned, I think you had a shot.
Starting point is 01:25:30 Oh, man. I know. In last place with the second lowest score in draft history, Ramundo? Yeah! Was it lower than his first? No, he's got the lowest and second lowest. People are being funny.
Starting point is 01:25:42 Ha. No, no, your songs were great. They just didn't know them. They were so sad. They were all sad. Ramundo, so Morgan number 2 won with 32% which gives her four wins total. Man.
Starting point is 01:25:53 I know. She might be the goat, dude. She's not. Yeah, like, what's happening? You still think she's in on the switching the results? No, I absolutely adore Morgan number two. But some of her picks, like, is it just that the younger people?
Starting point is 01:26:11 I don't know. Some of her picks on all the things that she's won, I have not resonated with. I'm telling you, she did something the other day that I heard her do, and I was like, that's a little fishy. Oh, okay. So what is it? Talk.
Starting point is 01:26:21 Talk. She asked Mike D. She's like, hey, will you send me some of the picks that people send in? Because I got to get the web ready for that. And Mike D is like, no. Oh, no. You're saying she asked from like our picks ahead of time, so she'd know what to dress. She blamed it on trying to be prepared for the web so he can launch quicker. That is not what happened.
Starting point is 01:26:39 And then I saw on the Bobby Vogue show Twitter, like she, Morgan, number two, on her personal webgirl Morgan, posted her vote for me. And then she retweeted herself on her. That's okay. That's okay. You guys are hating so hard right now. I always retweet everyone on the show. Anybody else would have tweeted. I would have retweeted it.
Starting point is 01:27:02 I got you on that one. I saw you on that one. Eddie's story is not true. I joked with him the other day when I was writing up the blog to get it ready for the votes. I was like, hey, Eddie, just go ahead and give me your first draft pick so I can get it ready. Joking with Eddie when he had the first round pick. Well, here's what we're going to do. I've decided.
Starting point is 01:27:18 We are going to get a championship belt. Oh, yes. And whenever someone wins 10 drafts, they're the champion and get to hold the belt, or somebody else wins 10 drafts. Wow, that's amazing. That's cool. Morgan number two with four victories now overall. She's well on her way.
Starting point is 01:27:33 There you go. Nice win yesterday. I appreciate that. Where did you fall, bones? Not good. He was next to last. Ooh. Yeah. Well, there was 15%, 70%, it was pretty close.
Starting point is 01:27:42 Hey. But, yeah, it was, you take it Morgan number two and run with it. Do what you got to do. I will. All right. Dancing with the Stars, the cast will be announced on August 21st, and ABC is talking about a tweaked format. Everybody listening right now should take pride that we tweak the format.
Starting point is 01:28:01 Yeah. Because they have to switch it up to where just somebody that has a bunch of people who are in for them just can't win the show apparently. But I thought that that's what it was all about. It is.
Starting point is 01:28:11 Okay. In my mind, because we won. Right. I mean, the judges got to do their part and then the fan vote did their part. And they do mention me in this story. Here's what it says. In the wake of last fall's controversial
Starting point is 01:28:24 and the show which found a slew of well-scored frontrunners ultimately losing out to very dark horse Bobby Bones. Wow, very. Not even just Dark Horse. ABC opted to skip
Starting point is 01:28:36 the planned spring cycle for the first time in the franchise history. Unfair do they say that. American Idol took the real place of Dancing with the Stars and for one season they ran a very short season.
Starting point is 01:28:46 They decided not to do the short season again. That's very unfair and that's misleading. I'd like to take credit that I canceled the whole season but that's not the case. American Idol really took the Dancing With the Stars spot for Spring.
Starting point is 01:28:56 So I guess I'm on that show too. I love it. I love that show. I love those people. I know who almost the whole cast is and it's great. It's going to be good? Yeah, it's going to be good.
Starting point is 01:29:05 I have a friend on it. That's all I'm going to say. Okay. I have two friends on it. Two? Yeah. One I'm super close to, one I'm kind of close to.
Starting point is 01:29:13 Okay. Both have already reached out for advice. Wow. Advice from the champ. Yeah. The champ is here. Well, shoot. I mean, you're,
Starting point is 01:29:24 okay, but you're just remaining. I mean, if you've got two friends. And then I have Shana on it too. Yes. I'm not even sure if she's on it. Oh, really? I would think she is. I don't know.
Starting point is 01:29:31 I just assume. Right. So, yeah, you got to be careful with how you. I know. I want to go and talk to Ashley in Alabama, who's on the phone. Ashley, what's happening with you? What's up? So, Bill, I had a question for you. Yeah. I was in Chicago. We saw a family come out, and I soon he flew on the plane.
Starting point is 01:29:54 I was wondering how he did on a plane. He's okay. He was much smaller when I took up to Chicago. My dog now is about 20 pounds. Oh, he's growing so fast. So fast. So I can't really put him in a bag. anymore. Got to put him in a brown paper bag and took him like a 40
Starting point is 01:30:09 when I rolled last time. Like a 40. Oh, that's my dog! And nobody bother me because he was in a bag. It's like a 40. You just walk around with you cold 45. Yeah, no one asks questions. Yeah, nobody cares.
Starting point is 01:30:19 It's time for the good news. With lunchbox. Tell me something good. Quinn Waters is a three-year-old boy outside of Boston. He's been going through chemotherapy, fighting cancer, so he can't go outside. So he has to sit in the house all day. What's going to entertain him?
Starting point is 01:30:37 The community. comes by the big window and they entertain them. Musicians stop by. They play songs. Jugglers come by. They juggle. Copt cars come by with their lights on. People just come and sit outside the window and entertain him for hours on end because he can't go outside. They say, hopefully in a few weeks, they're going to, he'll be able to go outside again. That's pretty cool, huh? And that's what it's all about right there. That was Tell Me Something Good. I'm going to go over and talk to Holly, who's on the phone. Now, if you remember Holly, she called way early in the week and she was like, I'm going to have my first teacher job. Give me some pep talk advice. I gave her a little bit. Then she goes, okay, I made it
Starting point is 01:31:13 through the first round. Hit me again. Kind of pepped her up a bit again. Then she's on the phone now to tell us if she actually got the job. Holly, good morning. Good morning. Here she is. Oh, how do you feel about that tone? Just from that tone, Amy, did she get the job? Yeah, I feel like part of her might be irritated because of other things, but I think she got the job. Do you feel like America's mentor mentor mentor her into the job? I feel like you helped, yes. I like that. I like that. Let's bring her on. Everybody, welcome Holly. Here is she is. Holly. Holly. Hey.
Starting point is 01:31:40 Okay, tell us what happened. Do you get a call yesterday? Well, it was an email, and it was an amount for a contract for a year. Look at this. Look at this. She got the job. Are you going to take the job? Yeah, I'm going to take the job, I guess.
Starting point is 01:31:59 I'm really nervous. I'm nervous because, can I be honest? I've been listening to you guys for, like, forever in the more. morning for five hours. And I hope that, I don't know, I'm just going to miss you guys. You know what? We exist all the time. Just take your phone out on your drive home from work.
Starting point is 01:32:20 Podcast. Search the Bobby Bone Show on demand. You can hear the same show. It's all there. But live. I know, but who cares about live? Okay, but you can't not take a job because you want to listen. I mean, if she were really die-hardt she would, you just quit work altogether.
Starting point is 01:32:34 Just listen to us. Right. But there's really no difference. That would be a great dream. So, but hey, congratulations. You got that job. Thank you. But we have something else to talk about, right?
Starting point is 01:32:46 The date. Well, no, no, no. I'm not getting, I'm not getting guilty. Guys, but I'm not getting guilted into this. You're not guilty. No. She got the job, though. She got the job.
Starting point is 01:32:54 I helped her get the job. I've done my duty here. And so yesterday she called. She was like, hey, take me out of a date. And I was like, probably not. I don't have a, I don't think I've ever went out with anyone if she's just called in. Right. But I said, you know what?
Starting point is 01:33:06 I'll at least go and look at the day. the Instagram page. And I did and it was all motivational quotes. There wasn't even a picture over there. Do you judge it up like it's covered? Yeah, absolutely. I make second guesses. You do? Yeah, well, of course. People put forward what is your first impression of them. Like if you see
Starting point is 01:33:21 me right now in a red t-shirt and black jeans, you'd be like, oh, okay, he's probably kind of chill, but kind of cares a little bit about fashion at the same time. Like he's wearing a a T-shirt, but it's a pretty cool T-shirt. Like you can make a lot of decisions and assumptions that will come to fruition most of the times correctly. So yes,
Starting point is 01:33:37 Yes, go ahead. Well, I mean, you have my Instagram now, so if you want a picture, you can just be in me. That's not how it works. Hey. I'm not chasing something that I really didn't, like, want to go after to begin with. I admire. I admire your moxie. Like I said yesterday.
Starting point is 01:33:59 You only get one shot. Shoot it. Love that. But you got to make it easy. It's like if I'm going to go watch a new TV show. I need to be, like, stimulated in the first 15, 20 minutes, or I'm not going to get to the second episode. You weren't stimulated by the quotes?
Starting point is 01:34:12 No. But you're not intrigued to see if she's a smoke show or not? No, I'm good. Oh, man, I am. So, thank you for, I'm glad you got the job. So glad. But if you're selling something, you should, there should be a nice display.
Starting point is 01:34:29 What? This just sounds bad. I don't like the way that sounds. No, it's right. I'm just in general. I don't think America will agree with you. Like in a job interview, if you go in, you don't just go, you know what, figure it out. You figure it out.
Starting point is 01:34:42 No, you put your best foot forward. When you're trying to sell something, you put it right there on the in-cap so everybody can see it. Would you like me to send you a picture? Yes. No. Yes, we do. No. Yes, we do.
Starting point is 01:34:55 They would. Yeah, we would. I'm congratulating you for getting your teaching job. We've been to this process with you. How old are you, Holly? I'm 46 San Ditt How old?
Starting point is 01:35:09 I'm just kidding I'm just kidding I'm 43 Okay Oh she's a sense of humor Yeah That was a weird joke That's a weird joke
Starting point is 01:35:17 With three years I'm just kidding I'm 40 I don't know about that one That's like I'm 46 Just kidding I'm 59 I'm like
Starting point is 01:35:28 I think we can be friends for sure Wait, okay, she's 43. Okay, wait, have you, do you have kids yourself? I do, I have two. Okay, yeah. I have a son and a daughter. And I'm sure they're awesome.
Starting point is 01:35:45 And I'm sure they're proud of their mom. This is just not going to work. I'm going to go ahead and say no date. Nothing against you. Okay. Send that picture. No, don't send the picture. If you would update us on your first day of school, like I'm so invested in your job,
Starting point is 01:36:02 and now you guys have totally taken this thing on an elbowed. Us. She's been throwing herself at you. That is not us. But Holly, we do want to be your friend, so keep us posted. We want to be your friend, Holly. Yeah, definitely. Okay. Okay. Well, I appreciate it. Thank you guys so much. When do you start school? Monday. Oh, wow. That's quick. That's quick.
Starting point is 01:36:20 Are some of your kids going to be like, are you the teacher from the radio? I don't know if they're listening. I haven't met them yet. I'm so excited to meet the kids. I'm so excited. Well, Holly, thank you. Congratulations. And until we meet the first time. I can't believe this isn't working out. Thank you, Holly. You're welcome.
Starting point is 01:36:42 You're welcome. You're welcome. You'll have a great day. Bye-bye. Thank you. Bye. See you. Thanks, hi.
Starting point is 01:36:45 Thanks. Let me talk to. Wow. That's the one that got away. Jennifer in Texas. Hey, Jennifer. Spring studio. Morning.
Starting point is 01:36:53 Morning. I just wanted to say how excited I am to celebrate my 23rd wedding anniversary tonight by watching you in Amarolo. You've been married for 20. 23 years? Yes. Congratulations. That's awesome. Come on.
Starting point is 01:37:08 Look at you. Wow. You're going to come tonight, Eddie and I are in Amarillo doing comedy and music. Going to come check it out, huh? Yes, we are so excited. Oh, good.
Starting point is 01:37:17 Well, we can't wait to see him. And congratulations on that big anniversary. What do you get somebody for 23 years? What is that, like, Plato? It gets a Bobby Bunch concert. Okay, yeah, it's a ticket. Concert. See it on laughter.
Starting point is 01:37:28 Thank you. All right. I was the only one clapping for you there just in case you're wondering. No one else clapped. But thank you, Jennifer. All right, see you I do have a couple things
Starting point is 01:37:38 Grace Potter is going to come play on the show next week I'm a humongous fan of Grace Potter She has a new song coming out next week Awesome So she's going to come by If you're not familiar with Grace Potter Here's her song Stars
Starting point is 01:37:48 Here you go I can't look at the stars So next I believe next Wednesday Grace Potter will be performing on the show Whenever we got that confirmed Eddie was with me yesterday And I was like this is awesome Oh did she is so cool guys
Starting point is 01:38:08 You gotta love it Amy You probably don't know her music I know her through you Yeah What you share with me. And I'm like, I love her so much. Mm-hmm. And here's her song, Paris, Grace Potter, Paris.
Starting point is 01:38:17 There you go. You see the Dale Jr. plane crash? I heard y'all talking about it, but I didn't see the plane crash. I thought when you first said crash, he got in a car crash. Oh, that's, yeah, I could see that. Because I was not fully engaged in the conversation, and then somebody said something about an airplane, so I thought I'd let you tell me. Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his family were on a small plane, a private plane that crashed and caught fire. it landed at an airport in Tennessee.
Starting point is 01:38:53 Everyone on board was taken to the hospital. It sounds like no one was seriously injured, but it is a nasty crash. Like as soon as they hit the ground, it landed, boom, into flames. Have they said what went wrong or what caused it? So here is the fire chief saying everyone was very lucky to have escaped because the plane apparently rolled off the end of the runway. Here's a clip of him talking about the plane bursting into flames. I think it was burning when they got off of it, yes.
Starting point is 01:39:16 According to some witness statements, just after it hit the ground, day it started murder. So the door luckily didn't catch fire and melt because they wouldn't have been able to get out of the plane. The door was still able to be moved open and they got out. Wow. But it looks hard. A lot of that stuff melted into the plane. Wow. So it wasn't just like a wheel broke and they skidded. Dale, his wife, Amy and their 15-year-old daughter were on one of those Cessna airplanes. Yeah, my gosh. It was a 15-year-old daughter? I thought it was a baby they had with them. I thought it was 15-month. Maybe that's what it says 15-year-old here, but maybe there was a typo. The plane had two adults. Yeah, two pilots, excuse me. Dale wasn't one of them and there
Starting point is 01:39:56 were no serious injuries. Everyone's safe. But yeah, it looks nasty like the fire. So thank goodness that he is safe and that that came out pretty well. Oh, there's a dog on the plane too. They got the dog out too. Yeah, everybody got out. And so he has his first ever live broadcast. Mike D, how did you get a live broadcast? I think basically I was bottom of the barrel. No one else could do it.
Starting point is 01:45:12 So I got it. So everybody else said no? Everybody else said? said they couldn't do it? Eddie couldn't do it. I couldn't do it because I'm on the road. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know what it is. I'm out of town.
Starting point is 01:45:22 It's the furniture store? Is it a furniture store? No, a car dealership. Oh, no. I wasn't asked. I wasn't asked. Oh, okay. Well, they may have known you were gone anyway, Eddie.
Starting point is 01:45:30 Probably. So are you nervous about this? Yeah, a little bit. First time you've ever done this? First time I've ever done it. So what do you do? Yeah. I don't even really know what you do.
Starting point is 01:45:38 They say you hang out and then you meet people. Yeah? And then give prizes away. Okay. That's what I'm going to do. And how many hours is the bit? It's two hours. And so you go, and what's the place called?
Starting point is 01:45:49 Stargate Auto Sales. New dealership. Stargate Auto Sales. Okay, and you're going to be out there when? Tomorrow, 10 a.m. to noon. Okay, so Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon. And where is this place? At Murphysboro.
Starting point is 01:46:01 Okay, so do you have your script ready? Because they're going to go, What's Mike do you on the street? By the way, he's never done this before. No. I've never talked for this long on the radio before, ever. Raymond, do you have some sort of like remote stinger? Yeah, we got something that'll work. It's just a bed.
Starting point is 01:46:15 Okay. I got people looking for other stuff. Okay, we're good. So if I were to go, I'll just do the voice thing. Raymond, you do the voice thing. Just be like, and now let's check in with Mike D on the street or whatever you want to say. Then Mike D, how long? You have 30 seconds. 30 seconds. I need you to fill 30 seconds. This is your practice run of what you got your timer. Okay.

Let's go to Mike D on the street. Hey, it's Mike D from the volleyball phone show. I'm hanging out at the grand opening of Stargate Auto Sales right now over here in Murfreesboro.
Starting point is 01:46:45 Come check out their awesome selection of used cars. But better than that is the awesome staff here. They're going to put you in a car that fits your lifestyle, fits the price range you're looking for. All that going on today at the grand opening of Stargate Auto Sales in Murph-Barre. You have seven more seconds, bro. In Murfreesboro, Mike D from the Bobby Bone Show. Come say what up. You guys five more seconds.
Starting point is 01:47:07 I thought you were rapping me. Five more seconds. I'm giving away prizes. Are you really? You didn't know what you're giving away? Yeah, Dollywood tickets. Oh, really? That's cool.
Starting point is 01:47:20 Say that. Okay, okay. I got Dollywood tickets. I was feeling that a little bit. I think you did a pretty good job. Grab the family, take your new car to Dollywood. Yeah, okay. So Amy gave you tip.
Starting point is 01:47:29 You ready to do it again? Okay. You got tips here. I'll give you, uh, when I hold my hand up, you have 10 seconds and then I'll give you a five second. Got it. Here we go. Raymond, you ready?
Starting point is 01:47:37 Yeah, yeah. And action. Yeah, we're on that beat. Let's get Mike D. in the street. Hey, it's Mike D from the Bobby Bone Show. I'm hanging out today at the grand opening of Stargate Auto Sales in Murfreesboro. Come hang out with me.
Starting point is 01:47:48 Check out the awesome selection of used cars. But not only that, the staff out here is awesome. They're going to put you in a car that fits your lifestyle, fits your needs, get the family and load them up because I'm giving away tickets to Dollywood. There you go. I'll be hanging out today at Stargate Auto Sales in Murphreysboro from 10 a.m. To noon. Come hang out with me, Mike D. from the Bobby Bone Show.
Starting point is 01:48:09 Three seconds! I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. Can't wait to see you.
Starting point is 01:48:20 Boom. Funny. Okay. You car who dis. You're pretty good. Okay. I think you're definitely in the upper echelon of people who do live, live hits. I think it's pretty good.
Starting point is 01:48:31 I'm into it. I think you'll do a great job. Thank you. You got to work on that timing, though, a little bit. I put up 10 seconds and he goes, oh. I love you. All right. Mike D.
Starting point is 01:48:41 tomorrow. For everybody that lives here, it's in Murphy'sboro at like 10 to noon? Yeah. All right. There he goes. He's giving away dollywood tickets. Yeah. And he loves you. Try to put that in, though. A woman went skydiving and her parachute failed. Oh, man. But she landed on some trees and survived.
Starting point is 01:48:58 Oh, thank goodness. What a twist. That's crazy, huh? Her parachute failed. Can you... They're not supposed to do that. No, but I mean... Yeah, you're right, Eddie. They're not supposed to do that.
Starting point is 01:49:08 Yes. Like, can you imagine falling from the sky? and you don't, your parachute does not, like, how, what? Yeah, so she is 30 years old. She fell 5,000 feet straight up before she crashed into the trees. Oh my gosh. A man who witnessed it said her, the parachute felled open properly, she plummeted almost a mile to the ground.
Starting point is 01:49:27 Oh my gosh. The solo skydiver was falling faster than anyone else. And he's like, hmm, one of these is not like the other. And I hit the trees in the wooded areas, recovering in the hospital. But police say her life is not in danger. She's broken some stuff. Well, yeah. But they say her life's not in danger.
Starting point is 01:49:44 Accidents like this are rare. So, that skydiving is not for me. I did it once. You wouldn't do it again? It's for the birds. I'm going to tell you. Yeah, I would probably if I was with someone who wanted to do it. There we go.
Starting point is 01:49:58 If I had someone that was like, I just really want to go skydiving. And would you go with me? Probably. At this point in my life, I've done some nutty stuff that I just didn't. Nothing really scares me that much anymore. Yeah. Or I'm scared. I'm just okay with dealing with.
Starting point is 01:50:10 with scared being a scaredy cat you'll see on this bear girl show i'd do some crap i like there's no way i'm gonna be able to do this and i was like you know what i'm just gonna jump into it and go and i did and then i came back home and i just felt like i can do anything so i'm always scared it's like me waking up in the morning on this show i never wake up feeling good people like how do you wake up in the morning and you're so productive and functional i'm not i'm just better at working while feeling bad and it's never fun in the morning when I wake up. I'm really starting to feel it like right now, but, you know. Yeah, we're about to be done here a while.
Starting point is 01:50:45 I know. You're like, yeah, we're left to the show. That's it. So, uh, let's go over and talk to Amanda and Amarillo. Hi, Amanda. Hi, good morning. Hi, good morning, studio. Morning.
Starting point is 01:50:57 Morning. Morning. I just wanted to call in and let you all know that I love your show so much. And Bobby, I have to tell you real quick story. When you were on Dancing with the Stars, I'm not going to lie, I didn't quite know who you were. But after your first dance, when he did that, like, energetic happy dance, I was laughing so hard. I was like, I have to know this guy. And then I started listening to your podcast.
Starting point is 01:51:24 But I'm an Amarillo, so my husband and I are coming to see you tonight. Hey, look at that. Yeah. Well, that's good. Yeah, listen, join the club. Nobody knew who I was. People was like, yeah, I never knew who you worked. Yeah, nobody knows who I am.
Starting point is 01:51:36 That's okay. I love that. as the article called me this morning, extremely dark horse. Very. Extreme dark horse. Well, good. I can't wait to see it tonight, Namerula. Sounds good.
Starting point is 01:51:46 Thanks, Bobby. Bye, Amanda. Hey, Misty and Austin. Let's talk to her. Misty, how are you? Hey, what's happening? So we're plumbers, and so we've been in this horrible heat wave, and we are excited that the raising idiots are here in Texas, but the hobby lobby
Starting point is 01:52:09 Bobby Bobby song was the only thing that got us through working on that horrible roof the other day. So thank you so much for everything that you do. You know, there are some songs that really pierce the consciousness of America, stairway to heaven. Yeah. A lot of these songs from the Eagles. Sure. Hotel California. Yeah. Garth, the dance.
Starting point is 01:52:28 Friends of the dance. Yeah. And then Hobby Lobby Bobby. Probably up there. Thank you for listening. Appreciate that. Thank you. I see later.
Starting point is 01:52:36 Everybody, have a great day. You too. Have a good weekend. there's a podcast up that Amy has four things with Amy Brown and Walker Hayes and his wife Lanny come on and Walker talks about writing the podcast theme song for Amy. Hold on one second.
Starting point is 01:52:51 I'm pulling it up. Hold on. All right. We don't have it ready. Amy, sorry we're not going to be able to get to it. Did you hear Ray said he doesn't have it ready? I never know what you can hear on what you've done. Oh, I heard it too, but see now I can hear things.
Starting point is 01:53:02 All right, good to go. Did you hear them say good to go or no? Did you guys hear them? Did you guys hear them? Oh, okay. That was for everybody. For our listeners that don't know, Ray's talking to my ear the whole time,
Starting point is 01:53:11 and I never know if he's just talking to me or if he's talking on the air. Let's do the one about clip number three. Amy S. Walker, the four things he's thankful for. Number three is grateful for Bible. We hear that. Okay. Anyway, it's a great podcast.
Starting point is 01:53:26 Check it out. Okay. I promise it's really good. Andy promises it's really good. Yeah, yeah. All right. Thank you. All right, we're done.
Starting point is 01:53:33 Thank you. Shit. Bobby Boom, too. A fan. We'll get one. $1,000 for binge watching Friends episodes for 25 hours. So a company is accepting applications for anyone willing to watch Friends for 25 hours straight and live tweet that entire experience. A thousand bucks and some Friends swag, they say.
Starting point is 01:53:53 It's funny how Friends is just popular now as it was 25 years ago or 15 years ago, whatever it came out. It ended 15 years ago, so I guess around 25 years. So, yeah, that's the deal. It's 25th. Oh, it is the 25th anniversary. That makes sense. That's why. Oh. Would you do that?
Starting point is 01:54:08 I don't think I could stay up for 25 hours. I'd fall asleep. And then I don't want to deal with how I'm going to feel like the day's following. Like, I just don't have that comeback. There's been times where I've stayed up 24 hours and it didn't affect me that bad. But you can't do that anymore. If you want to apply frontier bundles.com. Yeah, I'm going to check out of that one too.
Starting point is 01:54:28 Now time for something we call Flashback Friday here on the Bobby Bone show. Let's go. Flashback Friday. On this day in 2008, the biggest country song was Sugar Land, All I Want to Do. Where were you in 2008? I was in Austin with you. Yeah, well, we were both living there. But I was married, but not living with my husband.
Starting point is 01:55:00 2008. I was living with my mom. That's like a weird blank time for me. It is? Okay. We had been working together at two years. years at that point. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:55:11 Had I started syndicating the show yet? Probably just around then. So I was broke, broke. Any money I was making, I was spending back on this. Look how that worked out. Yeah. The biggest pop song, I kissed a girl from Katie Perry, 2008 this day. Here you go.
Starting point is 01:55:28 I remember this artist came to the studio and they were like, hey, you should see her. She has this song about kissing a girl. And I'm good. I don't need to see. And I never went and met her. It was Katie Perry. And the biggest thing of pop. Pop culture on this day is Michael Phelps becomes the winningest Olympic athlete of all time.
Starting point is 01:55:44 He took home his 10th and 11th gold medals at the Beijing Olympics. He went 8 for 8 and broke almost every swimming medal. And he has a current estimated net worth now of $60 million. Michael Phelps. That was today. Flashback Friday, 2008. Flashback Friday! We're heading out.
Starting point is 01:56:01 Eddie and I are headed to Amarillo tonight to play a show and El Paso tomorrow night to play a show. So I'm going to do that. Starting point is 01:56:28 So I'm going to do that. I got a pretty busy work week traveling. We're going to go out on the road and write some songs too. We're taking a couple people with us to write. So it would be good. You're like Red Aiken's. Tom's right on the road. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:56:40 Just like that. You better have everybody on the bus ready to write. Yeah. The kids, I think we're having like a Haitian gathering with a couple other families in Nashville that have adopted from Haiti. So I hope it works out. We're trying to plan it right now. And then have our friend that is Haitian that can cook come cook for the Haitian kids and all the parents can bond. Stuff like that.
Starting point is 01:57:01 You can check out Amy's podcast called Four Things with Amy Brown, Walker Hayes, and his wife Lainey. Yeah. I'm getting such good feedback from that.
