This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed human.
Hey guys, Bobby here.
I'm in a kitchen in California.
So it sounds a little weird.
That's why this is the microphone.
Always keeping my pants.
Just in case a situation occurs.
I appreciate you listening to our show podcast.
And obviously, with us doing the St. Jude Radiothon,
there isn't a show that I can post because it's a lot of live music and it's a telethon.
So I still wanted to give you something here.
And I wanted to recommend one of our shows here on the Nashville Podcast Network that
I think you'd like.
My buddy Chuck Wicks has a podcast called Talk to Chuck.
The whole premise of it is, if you love country, talk to Chuck.
Now, you may know him from, you know, a big hit stealing Cinderella.
He was on Dancing with the Stars back in the day.
He didn't win.
Jason Aldeen is his brother-in-law.
He's just a real interesting guy.
Super funny guy.
You know, I've always thought he was extremely talented and was really happy to be able to work with him on the show.
He's about to have a baby with his wife, Cassie, and he brought her on.
in a recent episode to talk about their IVF journey and if she ever gets tired of hearing about
her brother, Jason Aldeen. So, you know, I think it's a really good podcast. I think this episode's a good
one to listen to and see if you like it. Then maybe you subscribe over there. If you love country,
talk to Chuck. Subscribe on Iheart radio or wherever you listen to your podcast, wherever you're
listening right now, whatever it is. Go search for Talk to Chuck and subscribe and see what's up.
Check it out. Here is Chuck Wicks with his wife Cassie on the show.
Talk to Chuck.
Coming to you from the Glasshouse Studios in Nashville, Tennessee.
This is Talk to Chuck.
Now here's your host, Chuck Wicks.
Oh, crowd goes wild.
Yeah, that's right.
F2.
P2, putting the music down.
Didn't do that the first time, did we, Abby?
No, we did not.
First episode, Sammy Shea wasn't here.
Say hello.
Hey.
I forgot to turn down this right here.
Oh.
So we were screaming over the music.
No, the whole time we were like, yeah, so how you doing?
What'd you say?
I didn't know that we had to do it live.
Like we had to fix it live.
Growing pains.
Right.
We live and learn, right?
We live and learn.
This is a special show, guys.
Not only is it episode two, but this will probably be my favorite episode.
Because we have one of the most beautiful, wonderful, amazing, pregnant.
great kisser guest on this show.
Close your ears, Avery.
And Avery, it's your mom.
It's my wife, Cassie Wicks.
We know you love country music.
I grew up on country music.
I love it.
You did.
Your brother is Jason Aldine.
Yep.
Do you ever get tired of hearing that?
No.
No.
You don't?
Uh-uh.
Do you ever hear like, oh, my gosh,
your husband's Chuck Wicks.
Yeah.
You do?
Actually, yeah.
At work all the time.
Really?
You come up more than Jason.
Ooh.
At work.
Chick-a-Barr-W-W-W-W.
We are going to keep this.
Whatever just happened is going to be the highlight of this.
So I'm brought up more than Jason and your work.
A lot of times.
Yeah.
And you're in pharmaceutical sales.
Yes.
I'm saying it's like I don't know it.
It's for everybody listening.
But you do pharmaceutical sales and you're pregnant.
And I'm pregnant.
And I'm pregnant.
doctors. You actually, you do work hard. I'm proud of you. Thanks. I, you know, ever since I got,
you know, let go of my morning show, I used to do a morning show. I used to get up at 3.30, right?
Yep. And I would be out and she would be still sleeping. Now it's the other way around.
I know. I liked it the other way. I know. And it sucks because, you know, as you see me still
sleeping in bed, I know Sammy, she's looking at me and she's going, you lazy. Get up. I don't do that.
Oh, a little bit.
Come on.
Some mornings, you're not like, wow, I could smother you.
Yeah.
What did you say?
I could smother you.
Sammy Shea, still single, by the way.
Hey, boys.
I'll smother you.
I'm just saying, like, you never woken up in the morning, like, oh, my God, this guy gets to
sleep in and I have to go do X, Y, Z.
I think it's worse when I call him and it's like 9.30, 10 o'clock.
And I can tell he's still in the bed and hasn't gotten out yet.
I get so much work done in the bed, though.
I get a ton of work done in the bed.
I will sit back and they say most successful billionaires, they wake up, they just kind of, you know, lounge around, they daydream.
They think about what they want to do for the day.
That's called meditating, Chuck.
Meditating.
Jesus.
I swear he got this information.
I saw it on an Instagram post.
No, reliable.
That's right.
That most billionaires, they just start their day, kind of like, just do it.
whatever and thinking about what they want to accomplish during the day and what makes
them feel good and what makes me feel good is I like to lay in bed and I like to scroll
through Instagram first and look for motivation quotes like that and hard hitting statistics
ladies and gentlemen that's right I may I'll go to TikTok you know oh even more reliable that's
right maybe I'll learn to do dance oh don't hurt them you know maybe I'll go to Facebook maybe I'll do
Facebook live from bed.
I haven't done that yet, actually.
It's coming, I'm sure.
Okay.
Well, you know.
But here we are.
Before we get started, this is, because this is episode two, you have to do this.
It's very important.
Wherever you get your podcast, you have to search, talk to Chuck.
Okay, you have to subscribe, like it, do all those things.
Very important.
Write a review.
Yes.
Abby, did you write a review?
I will after this one.
I've been busy, you know, doing other things to prepare.
She's a home.
working for that's Sammy did you write a review yes I did okay good Cassie yep done
you did you did well I didn't know this when you're when you're doing a podcast and
you're like coming out of the gate which we just did this is only episode two it's important
for the algorithm okay to have like a hundred plus reviews and then it gets like to the top so
more people can see it so that's that's our goal is to get people to say oh yeah I love Chuck
talk to Chuck let's do it so we need you to do it so we need you to do
that. I mean, you're getting the podcast for free,
the least you can do, right, Abby?
Right. But how many stars? That's the next star.
Five stars. Yeah. That's the important part. Five stars.
All right, back to our guest.
I'm going to go home with this guest. I can say that.
Hey-oh.
Thanks for coming, babe.
Thanks. It's like we're working together. I know. Do you think we'll work well together?
I don't know.
That's a no. So a lot of people don't know this, but you used to sell t-shirts for Jason.
I sure did, like at 11 and 12 years old.
In the bars?
Dad would like lie and I don't know.
He would say I was 18 or 17.
And then I would go in the bars and they always got me in and I would just like be behind the table selling t-shirts.
Were they even good t-shirts?
Because this is one before he was big, right?
Yeah, he was in a band.
It was the young guns.
Can I get one of those T-shirts now in 2020?
Just like, I'll talk to you after a show.
Barry can hook you up with that.
I asked Chuck 25 years ago if Barry could get me a show poster and I'm still waiting on his return.
With the young guns?
No, of a Jason Aldeen show.
Oh, listen, we can get you anything signed, Jason Alde.
I don't need signs.
Barry's basement.
Barry's basement sounds like a workout facility.
No, Barry's basement could be legit Jason Aldean's like thrift shop.
For sure.
It actually is.
Why haven't I been invited?
He likes items and goes on Facebook and, like, sells Jason's things.
Can I get the family discount of free 99?
No, he does yard sales.
Yeah.
And it's crazy.
It's the most popular yard sale I've ever seen in my life.
Barry, a businessman.
I love it.
And then now Avery's a part of it, too.
So she's like, even better in it.
She knows because she wants to buy a horse so bad.
Oh, I know.
And she goes, oh, Paul Paul's having a yard sale.
Mm-hmm.
Well, can I come over and help?
Because she knows.
She's a little entrepreneur.
She is.
Go ahead, girl.
She is.
Oh, yeah.
We have a deal.
I like to cuss.
I like to cuss a lot, right?
Not too much.
Not a lot, but yeah, it comes out.
I do.
And I'm still, you know, I'm still like a new, I'm new to the stepdad role.
So I'm still getting used to watching what I say.
And little Avery, nine years old, she says, every time you say a bad word, you owe me $5.
I love that about her.
And I'll never forget it.
Chuck doesn't cuss like angry, though.
Like, he just does it.
I'll be like, let's eff and do this.
Like, I'm like,
she's like,
we're taking the trash out, Chuck.
Calm down.
They were going into Publix.
And he said that.
She was like,
there was no reason for him to say it.
He just said it.
She's like,
he is so stupid.
I just made five books.
I know,
but I was so punked.
I was like,
let's eff and do this.
Here's five dollars.
Boom.
That's the most 2020 thing I've ever heard.
Let's go to the grocery store.
Let's get out of the house.
Gotta get excited about getting your frozen SIE balls and stuff.
Yeah.
Same.
A moment out of it.
Or titos.
But God bless.
I, you know, we got three beautiful bonus daughters to me, your daughters.
And, you know, with little Tucker Elliott on the way, it's been quite the journey for Cassie and I,
because, you know, we've had to, we tried for what, three months?
Probably, yeah, maybe like three or four months.
We knew once, as soon, we've been married for a year.
So we got married in July.
And we knew.
In Cabo, it was loose.
In Colbo, you were at the way.
It was there.
Abby, I am so sorry.
If I, if I knew you.
you. I definitely would have invited you. Yeah, but there wouldn't have been any
Casamigos left for you because I'm not going to get all. I got slammed the first night.
Chuck was so excited to see all his friends. He was like a little kid. Yes. I was nervous
for the rest of the weekend. I was so happy. I feel like you just really went hot out the gate
and then I mean, I could be wrong, but I feel like you pulled it back after that. Like the first day
you had yourself a party and then you went to bed before the sun went down. I got up that night. I got up that
night. I threw up all night.
And I had never,
your mother. It was very cute. I had never seen him sick before
ever. Like in our relationships. I'm like,
I don't know what to do with you.
I'll scratch your back from a distance.
I literally just like close the bathroom door.
Pretit it wasn't happening. You're like we're in Cabo.
Figure it out. I don't know. Well, I was so sick
in it because I didn't drink tequila for at least six months after that.
I believe it. I was so sick. The next day we had a catamaran planned.
Yeah. Oh, were you hung over on the catamaran?
Oh, God, yes.
Really?
That's why I didn't drink or eat anything on the catamaran.
I was scared to eat anything because it would come back up and I was scared to drink anything
because I couldn't handle alcohol.
Well, like props to you because I didn't notice.
Thank you.
Yeah, I'm putting this together right now.
Yeah, I feel like you pulled it together very well.
Granted, I was kind of drunk the whole weekend, so I guess my words are worth nothing.
Well, your roommate.
I could see why.
You had Brian.
Brian was a good friend of all of ours here.
and, you know, because we all worked together, and now we all do several things, but still great friends.
And Brian the weather guy, we call him, he was your roommate.
Yes, he was.
He was quite a peach.
And he would have dance parties.
Alone.
Alone.
Didn't mean to scream in everybody's ears, but let me tell you, I'd sit on the back porch,
like the balcony.
It's beautiful.
It's Cabo.
You know, like you go out, you had all day in the sun.
You're hanging out with your friends.
You're drinking and doing whatever.
This dude, not only, no, okay, like, I feel like dance parties doesn't even sell.
it because the dance party he would have on repeat was going to do the two-step in Campbell.
Oh, that's right.
Oh, my gosh.
What is that guy's name?
Blanco Brown.
Blanco Brown, two-step, one-footstep, whatever it's called, on repeat alone in our living
room.
That's right.
And I'm like, wow, this is so relaxing.
What a soundtrack.
I never told you this, but I secretly thought Cassie and I both that were like, and now,
looking back, it didn't make sense.
I already know what you're going to say, and I'm like, I'm going to take a sip of my drink.
makes zero sense.
Okay.
I thought you were going to like maybe hook up with them.
I thought for like that maybe it could happen.
Yeah.
Because we love Brian.
I mean,
I love Brian too.
And we love some Sammy.
I love Sammy too.
And I also love Cabo and I also love tequila.
You want to know what I don't love?
The two step by Blanco Brown.
That's right.
Or whatever he was doing.
Any more by the way.
And by if Sammy just said she's taking a drink,
we record this podcast at night.
Not to freak anybody out.
And we're down at the Glasshouse Studios in Nashville, Tennessee.
It's beautiful here.
And I want them to come decorate my home.
And by decorating, I mean, build it to look just like this.
You know what I love about?
Sean Silva owns the Glass House Studios down here.
And he's a great producer.
I think he produced like, let's just say all of Kenny Chessie's video.
No stuff.
I think 99.7%.
All the good ones.
Correct.
All the good ones.
That checks out.
And he said before we came in, he goes, hey man, I fogged a, I fogged a place.
I'm like, what are you talking about?
He goes, I fog the place.
He goes, it's a thing.
I go, for what?
He goes, oh, it disinfects everything for COVID.
So on that note, you'll see us in camera.
We're not wearing masks anything right now.
We're very safe here.
So everybody's been tested and, you know, don't get any ideas.
Which we'll get to that.
We'll get about Disney.
We're going to talk about Disney and mask later because my wife and I were very there when something
went down.
But back to the wedding.
you know, we've married a year ago, and we knew as soon as we got back, we wanted to try and have a baby.
Like immediately.
We knew as soon as we got married.
Yeah.
Like, that was our thing.
Game plan.
Yeah, that was the game plan.
And we, I mean, we, we had never had sex before until our wedding night.
Cassie's dad is.
Dad didn't know.
Hey, Barry.
I'm so sorry, Mom and Dad.
Are they still here?
Yeah, they're here.
Oh, dang.
All right, anyway, so, you know, we knew we wanted to have a little one, and I had zero
clue.
Like, we just thought in our minds, we thought it was just going to be, oh, yeah, it's good.
We'll have it probably in the first month.
Well, I feel like he was so healthy, you know, Chuck works out all the time.
He eats right.
He doesn't, like, do a lot of crazy things, doesn't drink a lot.
I'm, I wouldn't say I work out all the time, but.
You're a healthy person.
I'm a healthy person and never had issues or anything.
And so I honestly thought like first month, I mean, I was like doing the ovulation test.
I knew exactly what I was doing.
And then like a few months in, I'm like, something's not right.
I don't know.
And so I just asked him, I was like, can we just.
Not with the performance.
Sure.
More.
It just wasn't.
Is that what she told you?
But so I asked him, could we just go and just talk to somebody and just make sure everything
was checking out normal and everything.
And so we went to the IVF doctor.
and that's when we found out there were some issues.
And I'm always,
and I've always been very honest about this,
because I don't want anybody,
because normally when you have infertility issues,
for some reason, I guess, right?
People assume that it's the woman's fault or something's wrong.
I just think a lot of people don't talk about the male side of infertility.
And so it does,
it kind of comes on the female.
So I will say this out loud,
and I always do,
it was 1,000% my problem.
Like it was my fault.
I didn't.
It wasn't your fault.
Not my fault,
but it was issues with my body.
And I just didn't have any swimmers.
I didn't have anything going on.
And it was like he did.
And it was so low that it was like beyond low,
like less than a million.
You're supposed to have like 12, 15, 20 million swimmers, right?
Holy.
I had like less than a thousand.
Yeah, he had like in the thousands range.
But then every time he went, the numbers went down even further.
So then it's like panic mode.
Like we need to do this immediately.
So the IVF doctor was just like, yeah, you're definitely going to have to use the IVF way, I guess is a good way to say it to get pregnant.
That's the only way you're going to get pregnant.
And we're like, oh my gosh.
You know, at some point where it's like, well, thank God there's still a way.
And there's this way.
And we're going to do it, of course.
And, you know, as the numbers kept.
going down, I go, what can I do? What can I do to make it better? She's like, don't wear any tight jeans.
This was when I co-hosted the morning show with you. And you came in. You're like, I can't wear
underwear. I have to wear sweatpants. Don't stand in front of me. And I was like, okay.
We were trying to take pictures. I was like, oh my God, okay. Whatever you say.
It was true. I wore sweatpants for like three months straight. Yeah. No caffeine. No caffeine.
No alcohol. And that was when you were getting up at three,
in the morning. So,
talking about caffeine.
Yes.
And so,
and I don't drink,
so I don't drink coffee.
My caffeine comes through energy drinks.
So I was having the first, what,
two weeks,
three weeks,
I was having massive headaches,
caffeine headaches.
So it was a,
I mean,
it was definitely an emotional roller coaster.
And to fast forward through it,
um,
we got to the point where I would,
how would you say,
I would go there to,
you would store,
give a sample.
I would go there to give a sample,
which,
given a sample.
guys.
He would like send me videos of the room.
I'm really glad you finished the sentence of the room.
I was like,
this is a family podcast.
Not now.
So you go into to leave your sample.
Listen,
I'm not the only guy leaving samples.
Obviously,
it's a whole clinic.
Okay.
So when you walk into this place,
you know,
if you see a guy there,
you know why he's there.
Don't make eye contact.
to leave the table. Yeah, and don't shake hands. So I go. I go back to these.
True. I just snorted. You don't shake in. Yeah, no, I don't want to be there. I'm good.
I didn't even do a fist bump. And this was pre-COVID. So I, you know, you go into this hallway and
the nurse takes you back. And I was so embarrassed because the nurse knows why I'm there.
And she knows what I'm about to do. Yeah, it's like awkward. Yeah, she knows. So she takes me
the nurse takes me into the room and she goes all right and she puts this paperwork in front of me
she goes you're going to do this this fill out your name make sure the date now you're going to take
this cup make sure the name matches exactly that and then date matches exactly here and you're going to
and then you're going to twist it and you're going to put it in this little thing there and then she walks out of
the room so here I am and I look around and I'm like what a sterile environment it's super quiet
okay don't make any noises don't make any noise so I start looking around they have a little portable
radio. Oh, no. And the corner. I crank it up. I crank it up. I put it. I never heard about the radio.
Oh, yeah. They had a little portable radio. Like, this is brand new information. Oh, yeah. I crank it up.
I put it on soft 90s or something. Oh, my gosh. Smooth jazz. Yeah. Delilah. I mean, I found something that was,
you know, romantic. And I dim the lights. Okay. Did you set the mood for yourself? I did.
Because it's such a sterile room.
Yeah.
It's such a bathroom.
It's a bathroom.
It's like scientific.
Yeah, it was a bathroom.
So you go in there and I looked around and I turned a radio on and I look around and I knew it.
I always wondered, do they have, do they have magazines?
Oh, they do, right?
And they do.
Of course they do.
I immediately thought to myself, why would I ever touch this magazine?
Oh, yeah, I didn't think about that.
someone else touched.
Thank the good Lord for the internet.
So I went back and forth.
And his charged self.
His charge, which is a,
for anybody who doesn't know, Chuck, is hard to come by.
He never has a charged cell phone.
Let me tell you something.
In the sample days, fully charged.
You got to have your ammo ready.
You don't want to run out of battery in the middle.
Yikes.
And then it's just a black screen and you're staring back at your face.
I can't.
Oh my goodness.
So I did this five times, right?
Can you believe you talking about this?
We're getting deep.
So I had to leave five samples.
And what they do is they freeze them, okay, until we're getting you ready for.
I do an egg retrieval.
Yeah, egg retrieval.
Yep.
So we do the egg retrieval.
And they get like eight eggs for me.
Then I got 10.
Or 10.
No, yeah, they got 10 eggs.
And then.
No, wait, me, this was.
Hold on.
How do you just have?
10 eggs chilling.
No, no, it's a much bigger ordeal.
Well, you take shots, like you simulate your body, and then they go in and take them out of your ovaries.
Yeah.
So they, that's how many I had.
So when they do that, then they take the sperm and inject it into each egg.
Yeah.
And so, but there has to be something to inject.
So I was like, to myself, I'm like, all right, cool.
I got five frozen samples, vials of stuff.
And plus they want to take.
the fresh sample that day when they retrieve her eggs because that's the best way to do it.
Right.
So they say, hey, got some good news and some bad news.
Oh, God.
Let me the bad news first.
The doctor comes, well, you really?
The doctor comes in.
They go, we did not find anything in the fresh sample.
That's the bad news.
So I'm just like, and honestly, gut wrenching.
Of course.
Because it's been such a process, you know,
being a man, you don't want to hear that you don't have any swimmers to begin with.
Right.
Because you feel like you're just not living up to your manhood.
Sure.
I mean, you feel like you let you, I felt like I was letting my wife down.
Mm-hmm.
And I felt like that I was like, why, why?
You know, like, why is this happening?
Of course.
And anyway, it is, it does get emotional when you think about it.
And it's like, but now fast forward, you know, the doctor comes in.
He says, we're going to go to the frozen sample.
The good news is that we found 10 really good eggs from your wife, from Cassie.
And I was like, that's great.
Because they're all graded.
Yeah.
Well, they don't.
I don't think they grade until later.
Okay.
So she had 10 eggs and they go, listen, we're going to have to go in and see if we can find some stuff in the frozen stuff.
And they come back about 20, 30 minutes later and they go, hey, so none of the frozen samples survived.
Oh, my gosh.
So now we're just like, oh my gosh.
Well, now what do we do?
What do we do?
And because there's, in my mind at this point, we both looked at each other.
We're like, what do we do?
So at this point they're saying we can, what we will do is go ahead and freeze your eggs.
Sure.
And then try to get samples that are viable.
Yeah.
So we'll just like kind of pause.
But then they said, we have one more thing that we want to try.
And it was something to do.
It was like almost they said they, they told us so we would understand.
understand it. They put basically a caffeine drip, a caffeine like droplet. It's like something that
helps energize the sperm. It reminds, yeah, it reminds the sperm that they're alive and that
they're supposed to be swimming in the frozen sample or within your body. They went back to the fresh sample.
The fresh sample. The fresh sample. Okay. In the vial, they inject this medicine. So they do this,
right? And they go, we found two. Stop. Like one, two. That's it. That's it.
Not, again, supposed to have like 20 million.
Correct.
They found two.
So what they did or go, we're going to freeze the eight eggs and we're going to take the two eggs and the two sperm.
And what we're going to do is we're going to see if they fertilize overnight.
So we waited overnight and we're like, please, please, please.
They already told us it's already like a, hey, whatever amount you have, cut that in half, right?
Yeah, that would survive.
And then what it's like, it continues to just go down.
And once you cut it a half,
Then they got to see if it turns into an embryo, cut that number in half.
I'm so stressed right now.
We're thinking to ourselves, well, we only got two, so we're already down to one.
And then that one, if that gets cut, well, then we have nothing.
So we have a kid.
The next day they go, good news.
One fertilized.
We got one fertilized.
And we're like, oh, great.
So now we had to wait six or seven days, right, to see if it turned into an embryo.
So now it's another.
And this is still not inside your belly.
This is all still there.
All in a dish.
You have to talk to me like I'm an idiot because I don't know any of them.
I didn't know any of this either.
I mean, I know maybe the basic gist at most.
So it was basically, so we had to wait five or six days.
It was, I mean, that's the longest five days of your entire life.
It's all you think about.
We would call each other.
We were like, hey, listen, you know, it's in God's hands.
It's not in our hands.
If God wants this, it will happen.
At that point, I feel like that's kind of all you can do.
Right.
Literally all you can do.
You guys have done absolutely everything.
You lost everything off the list.
So we get the news in five or six days.
They go, guess what?
You have an embryo.
Well, now we're like, what's the sex going to be?
Because we secretly, honestly wanted a boy.
Yeah.
Because we already have three girls, right?
We're like, I'm like, God.
if you're listening right now.
Chuck needs a little evening out.
I need a meal.
But at that point, you really did not care.
Like at that point, one, we were like, it does not matter.
I mean, it truly did not because it was just so much.
We just wanted a healthy baby.
And that's all.
That's all we wanted.
And I'll never forget.
They're like, the embryo is a good grade.
This is when I do grade them.
And they wanted to be a good grading system, like just like you would get A, B, CDs.
in college or whatever it is.
It was a good grade.
So we're like, oh, great.
That just means it's a healthy embryo.
And, you know, it has a great chance of survival and all that good stuff.
So I'll never forget when we found out the sex of it.
They give it to you in an envelope.
Well, we asked them to do that.
Yeah.
She wanted to tell me on the phone.
But I was like two hours away from homeworking.
And she's like, do you want to know?
She was so excited because she knew everything we had been through.
and I was like, oh my gosh, no, I cannot get this over the phone without my husband.
And so I said, will you please just put it in an envelope.
And I'm going to have him pick it up on his way home from work.
And then we'll open it together.
And didn't you post a video on your Instagram?
Yeah.
So she posted at Cassie Rosa, right?
Yeah.
At Cassie Wicks now.
Cassie Rosa.
Interesting.
Oh, we'll talk about that later.
Okay.
Got a new last name.
Roses is her middle name.
So at Cassie Rosa and it's up there.
I'm wearing, we're just sitting together on a couch.
Anyway, we'll have to repost it.
Okay.
Not to repost it.
But we found out it was a boy and we like flipped.
We like hit the ceiling.
It was just a feeling I'd never.
I mean, I have all girls.
So to think of me having a boy was just insane.
It still is.
Is this a different photo or I'm sorry, photo video of when you put something in like a paper bag?
you put something in a paper bag and it's like looking at it.
Okay, so rewind before that.
Okay.
I'm getting my story is confused.
We found out the sex before it actually took.
Was put inside of me, the embryo.
Okay, okay, okay.
So we knew the sex before and then they do a transfer.
All right.
I jumped a gun.
Apologies.
I jumped the gun.
I think I jumped.
I was like, I don't know how this works.
When they do the embryo transfer, so they, you know, put it inside my body, it still
has to take. So we knew as a boy and everything, but then you still have to have it take within my
body. My gosh. And so how much anxiety medication have you guys been on? I seriously. We need some.
I got Tos. That's all I got. So I, that works. Hey, not for gassy. Um, it's true. So she wants a drink.
So I don't blame her. I just want like a glass of wine. Yeah. Listen, on December, what, 12th, 13th, 4th,
whatever, I'll be there.
You're like red or white, baby?
I hook me up with the right.
She says yes.
So yes.
I know where you live.
So the embryo, the embryo has attached to the wall, right?
Yeah.
And that's when you get.
My uterus.
Your uterus.
How you doing?
Geographical location.
Tag that on Instagram.
Hey.
Hey, what's your name?
Uteris.
Hey.
So they do the transfer.
Oh, my goodness.
I was pretending I was the embryo.
Hey, how's it going?
Mind if I attached to your wall?
Okay.
No.
moving on.
Transferred.
And then you have to wait five days to see if you're actually pregnant.
So that's another waiting game.
And then so the video you're talking about Sammy is I secretly took a pregnancy test without Chuck knowing because my brother and sister-in-law were like every day, take a test.
Just go do it, whatever.
And so I got the test, took it.
And if it was negative, I was just not going to say I even took it.
You know, because honestly, I took it earlier than I was supposed to.
And then it showed positive.
So then I was like, oh, crap.
No, what do I do?
I wasn't ready.
She put it in an Amazon.
I know.
I saw the video.
I went to get for me Amazon.
This is great.
I was like, you're going to love it.
It's so good.
And it was a positive pregnancy test.
And it was awesome.
But Chuck's reaction, I mean, not going to lie.
I think I watched that video six times in a row.
The confusion is very genuine.
but the reaction of him being like, no way.
And you just like fumbling over your words, like, I got you this thing.
And he's like, what did you get me?
And you're like, this package.
I'm a terrible liar.
Yes, but it's very evident in this video that you are a terrible liar.
But it was so cute.
And he's just like, no way.
And then he just stands.
He's like, yay.
And then I'm just like, okay, I have a little bit.
My eyes are sweating.
But like we're good.
We all circled back.
I feel like everything that Cassie and I have been through thus far has been so in the best way
possible emotional.
Like our wedding, super emotional, the love.
It's just, it was just so intense.
Having this beautiful baby, December 4th, we're going to be induced.
I mean, everything has been so intense.
Our engagement.
Our engagement was, everything was super cool.
It was just, everything's been so awesome.
So that's why we just wanted this to happen so bad too.
And the fact that we're 35, four.
34 weeks. 34 weeks, 35 weeks this Friday. I mean, it's right around the corner. It's getting real. And I think that day is going to be like, that's going to top all the emotions of everything we've been through. He has no idea. Like I do because I have Avery. And but to go through it together is going to be really cool.
So I let see, I'm a dog guy. I love my dogs. Okay. Like I will. Cooper Duke. And Gunner. Don't forget about Dunner.
And, you know, I will cradle my dogs like their babies and kiss them.
And, I mean, if they don't sleep with us in the bed anymore, they did for like, what, two nights?
And then that changed.
Yeah, real quick.
And actually, it was good because they made the dead, the dead.
They made the bed dirty and, you know, I get it.
I'm with you now on that page.
That's great.
Yeah.
It's about time.
Cassie's not a huge dog person.
I'm fully aware.
because, right, you got attacked when you were younger.
Is that why?
I got attacked when I was younger, but I think it was more about my dad.
My dad never let us have dogs and he's still like a say off me kind of like.
Listen, I was also not a big dog person until probably like four years ago.
So I can relate to that.
And people look at you like you have nine heads.
I know.
How do you not like dogs?
And I'm okay, well, I'm not a terrible human.
Let's start there.
But it depends on how you grew.
up. I had a dog, not to get morbid, but we had to put her to sleep. I was like 13 and it was the only
dog I ever had and it was traumatizing. And so you just kind of like react from that age differently.
But did you love that dog? Oh, I loved that dog. That was like, that was my thing. I like
dogs and like if something happens, like I did have a dog, a lab growing up, peaches. And I was,
I was shocked how upset I was. I was in college when they had to put her down. And I mean, I lost it.
For like a whole day, I was like, done.
That's how I was.
But I didn't expect that.
That makes me feel better.
I didn't know the story.
Yeah.
So I do like, look, she's human.
I care about the dogs.
I just don't want their hair on me.
I don't want them barking.
Cassie is a woman after my heart.
I am the exact same.
That is the thing.
Love it.
That is why you, you don't like the messiness of dogs.
That's more of it.
And the barking.
You love dogs.
You just don't like what they come.
Yeah, I think they're cute.
Yes.
All that.
I just don't.
No one to drool and not to drool.
is drooling. Luckily, our dogs don't really drool at all, because that would probably send me
over there. No, you're good. But they bark a lot, especially the little ones. Right. And she's been on
me. She's like, we got to figure this out. Did you buy bark collars? I'm going to. Duke can't hear
hear himself bark. So how does that work? I know. It's so hard. Like, I start having panic moments and
maybe it's the pregnancy and the hormones, but I'm like, how is this going to work with a baby? If the baby's
trying to sleep. That's what she's worried about. Yeah, Cassie's about to drop kick this dog in the kitchen.
Chuck is not laughing. And he just looks at me. I'm like, do something. He's like, I don't know what
you want me to do. I feel like your dogs are like, I mean, I don't know. Is there an age limit on like a
barc collar? I don't know how that works. I did. I did warn her. It does not shock the dogs.
What does it do? It like sends a sound way. Like, I don't know. Really? I do think that if, oh,
I mean, like, I'm such a professional dog trainer. However, I have heard.
from my friends that have dogs that say eventually when they are shocked once or twice,
you just don't even have to shock them anymore.
You just hold up the remote.
And then the dogs get scared and they don't make any noise because they're like,
don't do that to me.
So I'm not saying that's 100% factual.
I'm just saying, based off personal experience, if you do it once, they kind of learn
their lesson, kind of like you don't put your hand on a hot stove after you did it
the first time.
We have about five weeks to get this figured out.
You got time.
Well, that's why we're building a barn.
For the dogs or for you.
Pretty much.
No.
Well, maybe.
We're going to have a little walked.
Maybe it'll be you and your dogs.
We don't know.
That would fix everything, I think.
Maybe.
No, we have a little dog area in the barn.
Are you building a barn in your backyard?
In the backyard.
Where the dogs like to run away from you?
I know from personal experience.
Wait a minute.
When you watch the dogs, the dogs ran away.
Oh, my God.
I chase them barefoot.
I don't know this story.
Where did they run?
Listen, I was trying to be a cool dog sitter.
And I knew you said,
450,000 times.
You need to watch them.
They will run.
And I'm like, okay, I get it.
Gunner comes out to the pool.
He's, like, sniffing around the side.
I'm sitting with my feet in the pool.
I just worked out, died in the garage.
Wicks workout, by the way.
Kill myself.
Okay.
Feet you're in the pool.
And I'm watching Gunner go by the trampoline.
And I'm like, he's good.
Okay.
And I just kind of yell.
I'm like, Gunner, get back over here, whatever.
Well, the other two, Cooper and Duke, for anybody listening,
Duke can't hear anything.
Anything.
So if Duke is gone, Duke is gone.
Like he cannot hear you calling.
He cannot hear you hollering his name.
Nothing.
Well, Cooper's little mischievous ash.
Ash, what ass, goes through that little like, oh, the gate.
Yes, you know exactly what I didn't even finish my sentence.
You know exactly what I'm talking about.
He starts going up towards and I'm like, I'm going to let them roam.
They're a huge backyard.
No, I was going to say, like they were sniffing, not running.
They were just like sniffing, shuffling a little bit, sniffing.
And I see Cooper eyeing that little gate and I'm like, you better not.
Well, he did.
Yeah.
And then Duke is like, oh, well, I got to come.
And so I got out of the pool and I'm sprinting up, which, by the way, I was wearing no shoes because I was in the pool.
And there's gravel there.
Yes.
Yes.
Yeah.
Yeah, it feels great.
Gunner tried, but I just like snapped at him.
He went back to the porch.
He was a good little boy.
I got the rest of them, the rest of them, the two of them back.
Did they get all the way to the pond?
No, no, no.
They made it through that little like passageway.
Oh, yeah.
And that's when Brian, the web guy, we talked about him so nicely.
earlier in the show, caught up with me.
He was there and he was just like, what's going on?
I'm like, yeah, well, I was chasing dogs.
Where were you?
Because we were supposed to divide and conquer.
You were supposed to be attacked?
Yeah, I know.
And he was inside for doodling.
I don't know what he was doing.
But I got the dogs back.
But anyways, sidetrack, sorry.
Were you supposed to get paid for that gig?
No, I don't think so because we 100% used your home.
I went in the pool.
I sat outside the city.
I used all of your workout equipment.
Great.
And we had a good time.
Yeah.
If you ever want, Abby, if you ever want to watch our dogs,
you just have access at the house.
This sounds like a good gig.
It is.
It's very, very, very relaxing because I specifically live, like you can see my apartment
from these studios.
I live on I-40.
I'm not even joking.
Like, I live on the highway.
So I can hear absolutely everything.
You go to Chuck's house.
You can hear anything.
And you can see the stars.
You can.
And you can.
I love it.
I loved it.
We love it out there.
We live outside of Nashville.
And we have like 22 acres.
and it's just kind of, you know, it's kind of crazy how it is because you go down our driveway
and it's just this long driveway and you don't, and then it just opens up into quarter mile there
and back if you're jogging.
That's right.
Wicks workout.
That's right.
Wicks workout.
And then it just opens up into this.
That's my first date with Cassie was she goes, do you want to, I, did I offer to pick you up or
did you say, did you want to pick you up?
No, I think you offered.
I'm sure I would, I would have met you.
Oh, she lives so far away because I live downtown.
She goes, oh, I live in Columbia.
I'm like, what?
Columbia is like 45 minutes.
Where is that?
No, I knew it was far.
So I go, I'm not going to make her drive all the way in the town.
I said, listen, I'll come pick you up.
So you drove all the way from downtown.
I drove all the way from downtown Nashville.
A gentleman, Charles.
No.
Oh, that was a laugh track.
Do we have a clap truck?
We do.
Oh, no.
No, that's not it either.
It's the red.
Which one is it?
Isn't it that one?
No, this is the beginning of the show.
Oh, geez.
Oh.
Well, I got it's clapping.
Hey, I got you.
I got you.
We need to get a clap track.
Hell, yeah, especially we do gentlemen and stuff like that.
Yeah.
So anyway, I go, I pick her up and I'm going down this long driveway, and I don't know what it's about to be.
So I'm like, man, where does this girl live?
She's setting me up.
I thought it was a joke.
And this, oh, man, the field opens up.
And I see this beautiful.
country style white house with everything that I've ever dreamed of. I look, I'm like, I'm going to marry
this girl. That's weird. I felt the same way when I pulled into your driveway. You're like, I'm going to
marry this girl. I'm going to marry this family. You can ask my cousin. I came home from the first time
I ever came to your house. I came home and I told Kelsey, she's my roommate, my cousin, and I'm like,
Chuck and Cassie live in my dream home. And it's in the middle of nowhere and nobody can hear you.
And she was like, okay. I don't know what I'm supposed to do with this information, but thank you.
I was like, so, you weren't alone?
I went and picked you up.
And I'll know, I, it was so far out.
She got into car.
I said, man, I'm sorry.
We got to go back into town.
I didn't bring any snacks.
I mean, it was that far out.
Yeah.
And that's when we, that's first date.
First date.
And what did you, when we first, a lot of people asked like how, how we met.
I thought it was whiskey row.
Am I way off?
100%.
No.
No.
Oh, I thought you're 100% off.
I'm like, oh, okay.
So for a long time, I would see.
her just out and about and nothing would come of it and you know I would I was like I would always say
who there she is there she is the because Cassie you have like hair that's very recognizable a lot of
people they're like is that your hair is that your hair and it is um thank god because that would be a long
time as you got to take the extensions out and then you know set them on the counter let them dry
anyway so you know I would always recognize her when she walked into the room from her hair
and it was at the ACMs three years ago, three years ago.
So three ACMs ago.
I met her and had my first conversation with her.
And the conversation was this long.
How you doing?
That was it.
Is that because you couldn't think of anything else to say or is that just what time allowed?
Well, she was married before and that's why we had never spoken before because she was always
married. And I didn't know at this time when I met her that she was single. Oh, the single ladies.
So I just assumed in my mind, I'm like, well, she's married. I'm not going to pursue anything because
she's married. I found out. He was talking to Jason. And Brittany was standing next to him. And so I
kind of like just shuffled over. And you said that you noticed Brit going like doing her head.
Oh, that's right. To me like to talk to you. Yes. Brittany Aldeem was not.
not like smooth about it at all.
She's just like, here, over here.
She's trying to be a matchmaker, but with a Twitch.
Hello.
Yeah.
Chuck, Cassie, right here.
Say hello.
Basically.
And, you know, we did say hello, but that was it.
And I just ignored it.
And then we didn't see each other the rest of the time in Vegas.
But something told me from that night, I felt something.
I was like, something's different about this night.
So I said, now that I know that her and Brittany, Alde, our friends.
Because I didn't, I didn't know, I didn't even know Jason Aldeen had a
sister. And I've known Jason for 14 years. I mean, we knew, I knew him when his first single came out.
So well, I hear. No, I, but we never talked. We never talked about when we saw each other.
I was friends. We didn't, we didn't talk about our siblings. We just talked about whatever. It just
wasn't our siblings. So I always thought you were Brittany's sister. So I went to Brittany Aldine's
Instagram page. I'm looking. I'm looking. I find her. I go, there she is. Oh yeah. The Instagram
And then I click on the old thing, the tags, and I go, huh, Kiyosu.
Did you slide into those DMs?
I did not.
Charles, you gentlemen.
I did not slide into the DMs.
You picked her up.
What I did was I found a photo that I felt was engaging.
And then I engaged.
Tell me more.
I commented so everyone could see it.
And I said, she was at Topgolf and you did this swing in high heels.
Okay.
And I said, wow, that's pretty impressive.
I'm into your swing, lady.
That's a pretty good swing for high heels on it.
And I set the bait.
I set the trap.
I said, if she responds, I'm in.
Hell you.
She responded.
Yeah, she did.
Cassie, what did you say?
No, no, you can't just cut the story out right there.
I have no idea.
You made like a joke back.
And I'm sure I called a few girlfriends like, oh my God.
He just texted or like messaged on my thing.
What do I say?
Which makes sense, knowing you now.
I don't know how to comment back.
Well, I was so out of the game.
I had been married for 10 years.
I had not dated anyone.
Right.
I'm like, I don't even know how this works anymore.
It was like so awkward.
And so just even like him commenting.
I'm like, I don't know what to do this information.
Do I like this?
I don't know.
That's who is this guy.
That's actually really cute.
So this is what I want to get to.
I want to know when you first saw me, what did you think like, oh, what did you think?
Um, well, like you said, we always had seen each other at events. So like, I was very aware of who you were. And obviously you're attractive. So like married or not, you notice people who are attractive. And so, but obviously nothing, you never even like made eye contact. I actually disagree with that. I haven't seen an attractive girl since I met you.
Oh, Lord.
And there it goes.
Thank you so much.
But after you commented, what do you mean?
Like when I saw you like at Whiskey Row or I guess looking at your page, I was like,
I don't know about this guy.
Like I just didn't know.
That's what I wanted to know.
So you had questions.
Because he's an artist, you know.
Yeah.
I know.
I just was like, I don't know.
I wasn't like sure.
I really wanted to go there.
All right.
but look how that worked out for you i mean it worked out well here we are here we are
knocked up oh my god yes and it took three nurses to get there how romantic well you know
you know what it was funny or not funny but it was so crazy and surreal was when um we did
you know put the embryo in the cassie into
hopefully get pregnant. I felt like I was in a delivery room. I've never been a delivery room in my life,
but what they do is they, that is not what a delivery room is like. Cass is like you were in free.
Road awakening my friend. Like all these surgeons around us. Yes. Like I said, I've never been in.
I'm assuming that's what a delivery room looks like. It doesn't look like that.
No. Check me on December 5th. All right. Well, here. I'm in a very emotional. I'm super emotional guy.
You can say that. You can say that. I'm not married to you. But like, yeah.
I like that emotional.
I'm not hating on it.
No, I like it too.
I'm just saying I recognize it.
I'm sitting in the room.
I first get in trouble because I'm filming.
And the doctor goes, no cameras.
It clearly says on every door.
I'm like, but it's my kid.
It's my kid.
Why can't I take it?
Anyway, so Cassie, they roll her in.
And then they open up this door.
And they roll in like an incubator looking thing.
Yeah.
And I knew that my little guy,
I'm a little embryo was in that incubator.
I start crying.
I'm like,
I start crying.
I thought I was like in the movie E.T.
or something.
They're rolling in this little incubator and there's this little teeny embryo that it's
going to blossom into this beautiful baby boy.
Tucker,
Elliot Wicks come in December 4th.
That is a beautiful moment.
December 5th, if we have to wait that long,
he might come earlier.
December 5th, December 4th, when we get deuce, but December 5th,
that day, I'll probably be crying for a week straight.
Every time you see him, I feel like you're going to be tears.
I'm going to get a tattoo, by the way.
No, you're not.
No, I, I'm seriously, yeah.
You've chosen?
No, I was talking to Brett Young.
We love Brett Young.
Uh-huh.
And he said what kind of tattoo he might get.
And he started talking about like a heartbeat.
Oh, yeah.
A wave file of the heartbeat.
Yeah.
And because Tucker is like the one, we had one.
We had one embryo.
Literally the one.
I think maybe like the heartbeat.
You get a copy, Brett's?
I told him, actually.
I said, if you get, he's like, oh, I'm thinking about getting his tattoo.
I might get it.
I was like, if you get it, we send me a picture.
I'm going to copy.
I'm just going to let you know.
Oh, my God.
I was like, I don't have any tattoos.
I was like, if I get a tattoo, it will be around my son.
And it will be like.
I feel like you got to be, you need to be creative and come up with your own idea.
Okay.
I'll record one of his, I'll record his first fart.
And I'll take the one.
from that. I'd be like, what's that? That's Tucker's first fart right there. Oh my gosh. Well, that's
creative. I mean, I don't hate it. And I feel like your energy, I don't know if you guys follow
Russell Dickerson on Instagram. Oh yeah. But he is also a new father. And the amount of hype that
that man brings to fatherhood, I feel like Chuck Wicks might give him a run for his money.
Brittany and I actually brought up Russell before we talked about them too. What a hype. Like,
I would love to see them together with their little like. They're just going to be like,
body strapped children just like going on a walk and loving every moment of it so like literal
children hype man I feel like that is the closest thing that I can imagine you being a father
would be what Russell's doing right now in real time oh we're doing everything together Tucker and I
yeah oh every every not every time but like a lot of times when Russell have an Instagram story
he'll just like this is my best friend it's me and REM dog and he's just like super cool it's my REM dog
check his fit and I'm just like wow I
like kind of want to be your kid's friend too.
And I feel like that is 100%
going to be Chuck Wicks.
Yeah.
It is pal Tucker.
I have no idea what to expect,
but I just know I want to expect it.
And I can't wait to just
It's going to be awesome.
Be in that moment.
All right.
I want to switch gears to music.
So Cassie,
I didn't know she felt this way
until after the first time you heard me sing.
Because she has heard brother Jason.
is one of the biggest stars in country music.
And she's seen him since you were 12, selling his T-shirts.
In the bar illegally.
Yeah, I mean, you've seen him blossom into the biggest star ever.
And he's awesome and he deserves it.
And he's a great singer and he's great songs and all these things.
When we met, you had really, you didn't really know too much about me musically.
Right.
So it was the, I did a show someplace.
He did like a fan club show.
Was it a fan club party?
Yeah.
At CMA Fest?
Yeah.
And I took Avery and I was real nervous.
She was really nervous because she was, I'll let you say it.
Well, I was nervous because if he sucked, then like, what was I going to do?
Absolutely.
And I mean, my brother's my brother.
But, I mean, I love Jason and I love his music and I have like so much respect for him because, I mean, he's one of my favorite artists.
So then for me to even think about.
dating an artist and then he's not really good like how can we even do that in our family like that's
awkward i mean did you not do any homework i not no i guess i didn't okay but i also give her props
in the fact that aren't you kind of happy she didn't do homework like she didn't know all of the
things you care like she just loved you for you like she didn't love you because you were a great
performer she didn't know that yet well thank god i didn't have an off night we may not be here
Talk to Chuck would be real different episode too.
I'd be like, well, I'm so looking for my wife out there.
You and me both.
Luckily, you were amazing.
And I actually, I brought Avery to that show.
And it was cool.
And I was like, okay, he can actually sing.
Like, so, and we have a lot of fun at the house to him singing and playing the guitar.
And Avery loves it.
So it's good times.
It worked out.
And it's not awkward at our house.
And they do karaoke.
But Chuck does try to take over karaoke.
be at Jason's house.
I've seen videos.
I don't,
I'm so,
I'm not,
I'm not like,
like sloppy drunk,
but I'm just,
I'm having such a good time.
He gets,
yeah,
he starts having so much fun.
He literally doesn't let anybody else have a chance.
Listen,
when I say,
I don't,
Kane Brown,
they,
one night,
they like took over.
Those are the videos I've seen.
But then they shove themselves
in other people's songs like,
no,
this is not your moment.
This is not it.
It is not your turn.
Listen,
when it's time to take over.
You just know.
What's funny when she says, he wouldn't let anybody else sing.
We're talking about like Lauren Elena, Jason Alde, all like these, the best singers in country music.
We're like, King Brown and I are just hog in the whole mic.
Yeah, it's our turn.
Okay.
Listen, we rock some boys to men, Brian McKnight.
Oh, yeah.
I hope your dance moves.
The crappy thing about our family that is awkward is that I am the only person in our family who does not sing.
Like, Brittany can actually really sing well too.
She's great.
A karaoke.
I'm like.
You're like, I'll be at the bar.
The pregnant lady at the bar.
Well, when Jason's new house is just like, it's so funny, he's got everything you could possibly want.
A bowling alley, a pool that looks straight out of Cabo, all the room in the world, all the, all the bells and whistles, right?
But when it, for some reason, he does not have a great karaoke system.
It literally is from like Walmart.
Brittany brings it out of the closet.
It comes on a wheel.
It's not even surround sound.
It's like the craziest thing in the world.
It's literally like one speaker.
But they have the best time on it.
Everybody.
It's an amazing time.
Yeah.
And we always have our go-toes.
And it never changes.
Like every karaoke night, it's the same songs.
Sometimes you just got to go back to the basics.
Same songs, different week.
And we haven't gotten you on the mic, really.
She just said.
Do you think I'm ever going to get on a mic with all those people?
As a mother of a soon-to-be.
boy.
Great.
I think you need to learn to, do that make sense?
Nope.
But I'm following the story.
So keep on.
You're going to be a mother of a boy.
You need to,
you need to step outside the box every once in a while because your little boy is going to
challenge you to do so.
To sing?
No, just to do things outside of your company.
Yeah, but I don't think she'll be surrounded by like professional singers at the
moment that she's also trying to sing.
She has nothing to worry about.
Okay.
You know who is one of the best singers I've ever heard is Lauren Elena.
She really is flawless.
I feel like it's effortless.
It's ridiculous.
I would agree 100%.
And then the male version of her is Shea Mooney.
I was literally just going to say that.
Ridiculous.
So good.
Gives me chills.
We were at Jason's watching the Georgia Bama game.
And we're doing shots, of course, of tequila.
And Jason goes and Shay is, you know, it's me, Jason and Shay's in the mix of taking the shot.
And Jason goes, do a vocal run for us.
and we'll do a shot.
And that was the way the cheers was.
And Shay does it.
That was the toast.
She was like, yeah.
And then Jayzie goes, yep, that's it.
Yeah.
That'll do.
That'll do.
He's ridiculous.
Shea, his voice is insane.
So good.
And we weren't you at the,
we were all at the dinner and he sang Whitney Houston?
Do you remember that?
Oh yeah.
They had closed down this restaurant that we all love in Nashville.
Yeah.
We just all happened to be there the same night.
It wasn't planned.
And so we're like just having the best.
time and he just starts blaring like Whitney Houston as long but it sounded so amazing you're like
people are missing this moment like people need to see this he is he's the funniest human when
I'm around Shay Mooney I they're idiots together they're like huge idiots together I laugh he's probably
I laugh more than I should I rat you guys out what oh yes what about your toast oh
Oh, he does not seem happy about that.
So the toast, it was like everybody's having a great time, drinking, having the best time.
And these two, Shea and Chuck, my brother's going to kill you.
So they...
I don't know.
Well, I don't see J.
We're 54 minutes into this podcast.
I don't see him listening this long.
But they fix the shots for everybody.
Well, there's where.
water. I did not know this, but I was watching them the whole time.
Cheers to that. They cheers. And those two make the worst face. Like they just took the worst
shot of their life. Over actors. What? Overachievers. No, watch. Watch this. Ready? Cheers. Oh, yeah.
Oh, my God. That all. Real. Right? And they were so proud of themselves.
We were because we did like three. Everyone else's tank. We got, we got, we got. They're blackout.
And you guys are like, yes, too.
I'll drive home.
We got so many text messages next day.
They're like, man, that last shot did me in, man.
We're like, yeah, that's too.
It's rough.
The good news is that Shay Mooney did not have to leave his car at your baby shower.
And I did.
Oh, was that you?
We were wondering who one car it was.
One car, and it was Sammy's.
They listen, Brittany Aldean is one of the best hosts.
Hosts.
Amazing.
You'll ever meet.
I double checked with everyone who lived on the premise.
and probably people who didn't live on the premise.
I'm like, listen, I can stop drinking right now.
Or I can just, like, have this drink that we're about to have
and go bowling in the corner.
Right.
But I just need to know if I could leave my car here on this 47 and a half acre driveway.
And Bernie was like, go hey, girl.
And I was like, okay.
And I double check with Cassie.
I double checked with Jason.
And he was just like, honestly, please don't ask me these questions.
Yes, I don't care.
Like, leave your car, whatever.
It was amazing.
And we did.
The baby shower was amazing.
We had a valet service.
I call them.
they're butlers, but they're not,
butlers.
What are they when they,
caterers.
Caterers.
For the love of God, Chuck,
they're caterers.
Caterers.
But, you know,
to me,
it was like,
it was like butlers.
Right?
That's what all the rich people do.
They get butlers.
Do you want to know a story about one of your fake butlers slash caterers?
I know we're like 50,
six minutes into this.
However,
this kid,
his name was Mike,
and he was a caterer at your baby shower.
This is a true story.
This is a true story.
Okay.
This happened however many weeks ago.
And I'm standing there,
and he comes up to me with this,
I assume some sort of like chicken
with like a yellow orange sauce.
Looked delicious.
He comes up to me, he's like, man, would you like some?
And I said, you know what, Mike?
I'm going to be real with you.
You see this piece of tile I'm standing out right now?
It costs more than my rent.
So if I eat this chicken with this sauce and I spill,
I cannot replace this.
As soon as we are allowed to sit down on furniture
because everybody was still standing,
we were like right by the front door
and I was like, I don't do these parties.
I don't know what's happening.
I was like as soon as we sit down, you find me, I will eat that chicken.
We went outside.
I was with Cassie's 754 aunts.
We were all outside by the pool.
The Cuban mafia.
Chi, Mimi, TT.
I don't even know the rest because they all call each other different names, which is a whole other podcast.
Mike found me.
He goes, ma'am, would you like this chicken?
And I said, sure would, Mike.
Thank you so much for finding me.
He listened to directions very well, and it was worth it.
I am a clumsy girl.
I'm not trying to spill my sauce on the time.
That's...
Was it cute?
I don't really remember.
I was really focused on the chicken.
Really?
I'm not joking.
Did you kiss them?
I did not.
I ate the chicken, though.
Okay.
Okay.
Cassie knows.
She's mad out with some people.
I'm pretty sure not that Mike the chicken guy.
I don't know what it is.
It's always something with Sammy.
I always wonder who she's going to hook out with.
I know.
I don't understand.
I'm not like that mysterious.
I feel like I'm pretty normal.
I feel like you're pretty open and out there.
there, yeah. I mean, yeah, I mean, I wouldn't say that I'm a cookie cutter type of gal. Yeah. I got opinions. And I let you know
them. How are you doing, baby? You're doing okay. Great. Are you tired? You know, you getting tired.
She's literally creating a human. She's always tired. I feel bad because, listen, we do these podcasts.
He's moving around so much. Is he really? It's like insane. I love it. She'll be laying in bed.
That stresses me out. She'll be laying in bed and I'll press my back up against her belly.
and she'll be sleeping she won't even know and and little tuckers in there doing some kind of like gymnastics routine
and I feel everything and I just sit there I lay there it could be three o'clock in the morning and I'll just be smiling I'll be like that because it makes me feel so good that he's in there and he's moving around and just it just getting his morning stretches in very early morning stretches he's an early riser watching Cassie pregnant and as we get you know later and later in this pregnancy
she has developed a pattern.
Mm-mm.
She laughs a little too hard.
She will full on
pee her pants.
Absolutely.
Her and every other pregnant woman.
And the everything that I'm sitting on.
I mean,
she's starting to,
it's kind of irritating because she always,
she always gets on the dogs for peeing in the house.
Now,
I mean,
okay.
Honey,
stop peeing on the furniture.
I would be,
yeah,
but come.
on. What? You're going to give her a hard time about that. Actually, when she pees her pants,
I think it's adorable. Well, most of the time I'm laughing at him. And so I'm like, please stop.
Yeah. So you induced this. So it's your fault. Well, I mean, all of the things are your fault.
It's your fault. You're making her laugh. It's your fault. You're making her laugh.
It's your fault. She's peeing. One, two, and three. I feel like you've laughed more during your
pregnancy. Yeah, I don't know. Am I just? Have I gotten funnier? No, I don't know. Let's not get carried away, Chuck.
Kind of funny or no?
Just happier.
Where's the cricket noise?
Guys, keep it down.
It is not crickets.
That's my laugh track.
This is the cricket noise.
Nope, let's that.
Yeah, that was what you needed.
Oh, sounds like your backyard, honestly.
It does.
It sounds like me chasing your dogs.
What a time.
How long does it go?
I don't know.
Is it stoke over?
Abby's like, please turn that off immediately.
So here's the deal.
I just signed my third record deal.
and I have a beautiful wife to have by my side to support me in my journey.
And she knows me very well.
And I want to talk about this because I don't know how to feel about this.
I was just on, I sing around the house all the time.
And I will sing my heart.
And I've, I've done arena shows.
I've sang in big arena.
I tore with Brad Paisley for almost two years.
I've sang, you know, one of the most nerve-wracking songs to ever sing is to now.
I sang the national anthem at NASCAR events where it's just you and your voice.
I've sang the national anthem, uh, CMA Fest inside Tennessee Titan state, Nissan Stadium, 60,000
people. All these, I've done speaking events in front of 12,000 people. And you see me do all these
things. And you've seen me get the record deal. And you see me in the studio and you see me do all
and I do it with with, and I'm glad to do it and I'm excited to do it. And I, I think I do it pretty well.
you do um while i was on the bobby bone show last friday to talk about this podcast and for some
reason why you laughing at me do you know what i think i do you mentioned it i don't know what it was
i got there and i was i started to get this uh nervous feeling and i was like why am i getting
nervous yeah i'm getting nervous i used to do a morning show for six years i shouldn't be nervous about
jumping on a morning show to talk about stuff.
And I get there and I sit down and I'm talking and everything's fine.
And then I, he goes, hey, you know, a lot of people know you, Bobby goes, you know,
a lot of people know you about, you know, from stealing Cinderella.
He goes, play a little bit of stealing Cinderella.
So I start playing it.
And I'm, I all of sudden get like super nervous.
And I'm like, what is happening to my body?
And I'm like, I could.
I was like, I'm barely getting through this.
song. I'm not singing, like, I had headphones on. I couldn't really hear too well, because when I
first went into the studio, I didn't have headphones on it, and I'm just singing and making sure everything
works and all that stuff because they had plug-ins. And I get, and I get through Stealing Cinderella,
and I'm like, oh my God, that was probably horrible. Like, I, because you know, when you get
nervous, you can hear your voice shaky and, like, shaking a little bit. Yeah, but you're also your
own worst critic. He definitely is. Yeah. Well, and then I was like, then it started
messing with me. And I knew I was going to sing another song that's, we're releasing in the
December. And this song that we're releasing in December is, I think will be the biggest
song in my career. It's that good. Like, I just feel like it's, it will be a just a giant. I mean,
I've been in the music business long enough. I've been on both sides. It's been a radio world.
I've been on singing world. I've been all that stuff. I was just like, man, if this song gets
the shot it deserves, it will be a big song. Well, when we started playing that song, I brought
up the guy that I wrote it with, another great artist.
Seth Ennis was there.
He's playing piano.
I'm like, oh, my God, I can't hear the piano.
Oh, no.
And because I had the headphones on it, I didn't check the levels.
Like, you know, I was like, hey, can you turn?
I didn't do any of that.
While we already started at this point.
So I'm like, here we go.
I sing this song all the time in the house, like full out, like, you know, all the time.
And I'm like, all the time.
And then here I am and I just got, you know, I just got really timid.
I was like, what did I ever do?
Be the one of you.
Did you really do that?
Or did you think that in your head?
I think I was singing, like, I mean, usually I'm in, what did I ever do to be the one
on you?
I'm usually like that, right?
But I felt like I was, what did I ever do?
I mean, when you can't hear it, though, yeah, it was easy to do that.
I was like just quieter and I felt timid.
And I, and I got through it.
And it ended up being funny because, you know, then Bobby chimed in and started singing.
And we got through it.
But I came home and...
He was so upset.
I was so mad.
Well, he was just like mad.
Like, he was in a bad mood about it.
I'm like, I'm sure it was not what you have in your head.
I was so mad.
It's always worse in your head than what it is in reality.
Yeah.
Always.
You're going to be your harshest critic and you're going to be overthinking literally every move.
Like things that other people aren't even going to notice, you're going to like harp on.
But see, this is what I want to get at.
Are you guys just saying this because you're my friends and my family and people that love me?
Are you just saying this to be nice?
Or,
You know, you got Abby over here that was there in the studio.
And did you think that I've sounded weird or like timid or shy?
No, I mean, it may have been a little.
I think because you probably couldn't hear.
Timid, like, or?
Maybe a little, yeah.
It wasn't really like you as much, but it wasn't the boisterous personality,
but that doesn't mean that it's bad.
Yeah.
So you felt like I was just like just, it still sounded good.
Yeah, it still sounded good.
But I was just a little more timid because yeah, you're not shy at all.
Ever since I met you, you're not trying at all.
You're associating the word timid with like subpar performance.
Right.
And I feel like we need to like disassociate those.
Okay.
Just because you were timid doesn't mean that it was bad.
Like she was saying like, okay, you might not have been.
I was going to say obnoxious joke.
But I feel like that's also not nice.
But I feel like you're being too hard on yourself.
No, I thought it was great.
I really did.
I was there.
I thought it was great.
This was a test for Abby.
I'm not, I mean, I feel like she was being honest.
I'm trying to be honest.
Yeah.
She's being honest.
Yeah.
She's being honest.
And even if you're less, I don't know what you're trying to even say, like, loud,
that doesn't mean that your voice quality was worse.
I guess that's true.
Yeah, you're being like way too harsh on yourself right now.
So it was just a little quieter than.
Because when I was speaking, I was just like.
Yeah, you were good.
I'm going to say, I mean, that studio is a little intimidating.
I'm not going to lie.
All the lights and everything.
It just is.
Oh, we got tons of lights here.
That's true.
We got a train.
Yeah, but this is going to try.
There's a train apparently in the parking lot.
But this is your home turf.
It's different.
That's right.
That could be, yeah.
And I think you wanted, you know, you're working with Bobby now, and I think you wanted, like,
him to really like it as well.
And I think you put too much pressure on yourself.
That could have been it.
Do you think you got in your head?
I think I can do that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I need to talk to.
I'm going to leave Bobby a message.
I'm going to be like, hey, dude, sorry, I got my head and I was timid.
Do you think I should do that?
Why not?
No, I should ask him.
I should just ask her.
You should.
Can you?
Hey, do you think that I was...
He'll be honest.
And report back.
Well, I'm going to say, if you need an honest opinion, I feel like Bobby will give it to you.
Yeah.
Well, Amy did actually...
She would kept singing the song.
Yeah.
She liked it a lot.
I also feel we need to remind ourselves that timid Chuck is on the same level as average humans.
Normal people.
So, I mean, yeah, you might have been timid, but like, you're still mobbing at a really great pace.
Right.
I think you're overthinking it.
Do you remember when I did...
I speak at different things if I'm asked to.
And there was this one event for Rodan and Fields.
Yeah.
And I, it was just me.
Okay.
That was when I first met you.
I had to, like, at the beginning of me knowing who you were.
Yes.
I had to do a 10 minute monologue, okay, of my life, how I got started, what I, you know, all
this stuff.
And it was basically to talk to all these people for Rodan and Fields to inspire them to keep
going, go after it.
Because I follow your dreams.
Follow your dreams because the journey of my music, you know, and overcome breaking my neck,
all these things, right?
I was so, I was nervous of that, but I did the whole, I had time to like get ready more
for like a performance.
Hype yourself up.
I did the whole like breathe through the nose out through the mouth.
And I kept doing it and I kept doing it.
And I didn't realize that to me had to be so nerve-wracking.
I don't know how he did.
Like I would never be able to do that, especially because I feel like,
Rodan and Fields is the most Chuck Wicks market there could ever be.
Oh, it was 12,000 women.
Oh, and they knew everything about you.
They knew every song you've ever sang.
They knew probably way too much about you.
Oh, I got 12,000 Instagram followers after that.
Debbie from Desmond.
Hey, Chuck.
Did they spot in your DMs?
Actually, they did.
They were like, you were great tonight.
Oh, my God.
Thanks, Deb.
But to keep it real, all those DMs like,
that I was sharing with Cassie.
I was.
You guys probably applauded them together.
All right, listen, my wife is very pregnant and she's tired.
And little Avery, who's nine years old, is sleeping in the other room right now.
She done Ben's sleep.
Like a model pose, by the way.
Are the in-law still here listening to this?
I think they're in there.
They are in here?
Oh.
Okay.
Are they watching?
Since Barry and Vivian, now Barry Williams,
also was, you know, Jason Aldine's dad, and he was on tour with him.
He was. He still is.
I don't mean it like that.
I mean, he was also on tour with him in the beginning.
Well, I wouldn't call it tour.
I would call it more like clubs.
He was clubbing it.
He was clubbing it.
When he was sneaking Cassie in the back door.
Hey, so all these T-shirts, girl.
I can only imagine.
You know, Avery's only nine.
Listen, look how it worked out.
I was nine when he started probably, nine or ten.
Because Jason would do
like competitions,
like talent competitions at bars though.
Right.
So I was at those.
Wait, so then how much older is Jason then to you?
He's seven years older.
Oh, seven years.
I didn't realize it was that big of an age gap.
I thought you were.
And we're five years apart?
Six.
You cradle.
Five years.
Five years.
Yeah.
Perfect.
Perfect age.
Difference.
Same.
Same what?
Just looking for a man five years older.
Oh, that's what?
Is there something we need him now?
Surgeons.
I wanted to talk about this because your dad, I love your dad.
And see, Barry Williams will come over and Vivian.
They'll come over and they'll come over unannounced.
Okay.
As in-laws do.
And we love it.
We love it.
But they come over unannounced and I always say, well, I'll just put the pants on.
I always mess with him.
But he always comes over and they'll do yard work and they'll help us around the house.
And I mean,
They're the best.
And when it comes to lawn mowing,
okay, you know where I'm going.
When it comes to lawn mowing,
Barry Williams will always say,
hey man,
be careful in that front area of the yard.
There's a lot of rocks here.
You don't want to be messing up that mower.
You don't want to be messing up that mower.
And he'll say this over and over again.
Every time we mow the grass in the summer.
And it's once a week.
We've got a big, big yard,
a lot of grass to mow.
Enormous.
And, I mean, he,
I think he loves it.
do it. He does. He loves. I think. No, he does. No, I feel like Barry's the type of guy that
mowing the lawn genuinely gives him joy. Well, he, he loves to do it. So we got five minutes
and the camera's shut off by the way. Okay. So he loves to do it. And we always, when he leaves,
I go, hey, your dad told me to watch out for them rocks again. And we always just kind of
these inside jokes. Well, one of the best phone calls happened today. Barry will
Williams calls me.
This is a guy that always warns me about the mower.
He goes, hey, man, when you come back to the house?
I go, man, I'm pretty busy all day.
I'm not going to be back to about 3.34.
All right, well, I got the mower stuck in the front yard.
It's like, yes.
Talk to yourself, Barry.
Do you not watch out for the rocks.
Now every time we mow the lawn, I can't wait.
I'm going to say, hey, Barry.
Watch those rocks.
Watch those rocks.
Watch them rocks up in the front and make sure on the front part.
Don't get it stuck, okay?
All right, we got a couple minutes.
We're going to end it because I am going to be a father to your child, Cassie.
That's right.
We're going to end on.
Did you want to talk about anything?
You're good?
I'm good.
She's so tired.
She's like, I've been trying to go to sleep for at least 30 minutes.
