Hopefully we bring our ag-grain. I mean, how depressing is it as a Longhorns fan to see A&M be so good? They're good, man.

They're really good. But I think we could take a little pride in ruining their season if we'd come up with a win too. Arch Manning really looks like he is growing into a real quarterback. So I wouldn't ride us off. I wouldn't write us off for the game. My question is, though, it's not really ruining them. their season now because the playoffs they're in no matter what they're going to make the playoff but they'll but the fans will be happy and i'll say this man i i don't dislike a and m like i do

some other teams like if texas and if texas and am aren't playing i'm rooting for a nm whereas like if i'm watching oklahoma like i don't care who they're playing i hope they lose like yeah dang that's hardcore yeah well i mean they feel the same way about us they feel the same way about us that's what i'm saying is like that's what makes it good sports you know a little rivalry Yeah, so I got a question, if you become rich enough? He's already rich enough, dude. Well, I mean, 10 number ones, you know, are you going to be a big booster to the football team or the ball team? Oh, that's a great question.

Like, are you willing to give your money back to the university? And how much? Yeah. Man. Like, how much would you have to make to start being an NIL booster? It's hard for me just because to be rich enough to be a booster at Texas, you're talking about 10 number ones. You're a peanut, man. Those guys got that oil money.

They got the tech money. I mean, those guys are donating crazy, crazy money. So I don't know if I'll ever be that rich. And then if I am, I'll probably give it to St. Jude instead. I don't want to be that invested, man. I'm just here to watch the game. I find it crazy that these people give their money. I'm like, dude, you worked for that.

Like, it's like the Alumni Association hits you up. Hey, would you like the Alumni Association? Let's get that out. They want you to give money back. I'm like, well, I paid for my school. Why would I give you my money now that I'm, you made me pay for my school? funny. I was getting calls before we'd even finish paying our student loans off being like, yes.

I was like, bro, I haven't finished paying for my school. When did you pay those off? About two years ago. Dang, dude. How did that feel? Great, great. Yeah, and then Carol wanted a new car right after that. So I took back at it, man.

That's life. I mean, here's the, my student loans is I paid $100 a month or whatever. And finally, I had like $5,000 left. And the company, I guess I was more expensive to be on their books. And they just sent me a letter and said, hey, we forget. in the rest of it. You know you had to pay it back. I'm like, yeah. Playing the long game, baby. I played the long game. I probably played more in interest. But I mean, I couldn't afford it. It's like, how do you do it?

Man, that's it. You won the race? I did. I won the race. I got it back on them. Hey, do you know lunchbox is three hours shorter graduating? Like, he never graduated. What course would you need? I don't even know the name of it now. Like, it was, it was supposed to, like, so I walked the stage in the spring, right? And I got to get my, what was a diploma, but it was really just an empty thing. They called my name out over the, and I was in front of everybody. I hug the president of the university, Dr. Ricardo Romo, UTSA, shout out. He's no longer the president. But, uh,

Rick Romo, baby. And I got off the stage and I was like, oh, I'll take it in the fall. You know, it's not offered in the summer. So I was like, I'll take it in the fall. And then I got on with Bobby and I was like, well, man, here we go. I mean, you made the right call. Yeah, you made the right call. Did Bobby make the right call?

I would say it's worked out. Okay. Yeah. I would say he's doing all right. Like you would say you wouldn't go back, right? No, no. It's three hours though, dude. It's one clock.

But who cares? You just do it on the computer and say, like, I graduated? If it's calculus or something, no, screw it. But if it's like, I don't know. Like golf? Yeah, I can do it. History of country music. Go take it, man.

I'd probably fail that, too. Let's be real. But here's the thing, back in the day, they didn't have online courses. So it was like, I was going to have to go in person. Yeah. So I really haven't investigated it really since then because I was just like, all right, man, I'm good. Like, do you have your diploma hanging up in your house? No.

It's on the bus. I don't know where my diploma is. I have no idea. But in my heart, I know I did it. There we go. Do you have your records hanging on your wall? I do. I do have the records.

So it's like you have your radio success on the wall. The college forget it, man. Like, yeah. Yeah. Okay. All right. Yeah. Same thing.

How bad can you beat Eddie at golf right now? Oh, do you murder me? Eddie's sneaky, man. No, no. I give him a nickname, though. Like he's sneaky. I call him P. I call him P.

It's a very smart thing to do that we just now figured out after. after a pretty embarrassing wardrobe out function. Really? So I probably should have thought about that before right now. Well, no. I mean, I was just thinking about it. I'm like, gosh, I get nervous when I'm just like hanging out with one person and it's like, maybe I get food in my teeth or like I have that happen.

Yeah. I can't imagine being on a stage and you have things happen and you can't really know or do anything about it. I mean, it is what it is. You just get used to it at that point? It's kind of, it's life. Things happen, you know, whatever. Luckily, I was wearing underwear.

So I think that's a positive. Oh, yeah. You weren't commando. That would have been bad. I feel like that would have gone viral. Definitely. Definitely would have been in that moment. Okay, so talk to me about live and stuff right now,

because you've had a crazy year. You've been doing awesome stuff with your music. Yeah, it's been great. It's been the busiest year I've had since I started touring. I don't know how many shows we played, but it feels like probably, you know, close to 100. I don't know. It was.

It was busy. We did Australia, Canada, the States, Europe. So it has. It's been wild. and then added a new kiddo to the fam, so up to four now and done. That's my last one. Does that mean like now it's like your wife is like, okay, time to go take care of this so we don't have another? Here's soon.

Yeah. Here soon. It's over. Thomas Rett wins that one. He's got five. So, yeah, it's been great. It's been great on the family side. It's been great on the professional side.

And now coming into my favorite time of year. So, Are you already decorated for Christmas yet? Oh, yeah. I would have decorated in July if I could. Why don't we just keep July, just keep Christmas going year round? That's what I say. The decorations are going to be happy all the time.

I don't know why we give so much hate to early Christmas decorations. Well, the tree's not up. There's like remnants of Christmas around the house, but Christmas music has been played since November 1st. Okay, your favorite Christmas record? Probably the Nat King Cole Christmas record. Oh, that's a good one. But you know who has got a great record, Casey Musgraves?

That Casey Christmas. Yeah? She did that whole TV special thing too. That was really cool. I mean, the record is awesome. Okay, I'm going to have to check out. Bing Crosby's is also like a candy cane. Yeah, that's like, that's classic.

Yeah, that's a good one. Okay, so the kiddo and touring, like you were just everywhere. So what's your favorite place to play now? Of all the where in the world? I'll be honestly. Australia is wild. Really? Like the fans over there are awesome.

Did they make you drink out of a boot, like the cowboy boot? Yeah, but you just buy a new boot for each show. Do you not wear the boot? No, no, no, no, no. You do like a slight, you know, what do it, slight a hand. Oh, you trade out. So you're not actually. To avoid them throwing you a boot and you have to do it, you just have like somebody from your team bring out a boot and be like, hey, there's a beer in here.

And it's a new boot, so you're not actually doing this full shoeie. And this brand new boot that may have a Ziploc bag in it that's whole. holding a beer. Oh, that's a lot of hand. I don't do that. Thomas Redd does that either. Called out. Thomas Red.

Okay. And new dad. Give us your best dad advice. I don't know. I'd like, what do you? I mean, keep them alive. I'm like, I'm barely there. Yeah.

You know, we missed, I mean, a lot of these songs were written because I have missed a lot of stuff. So, you know, you kind of, when you get back, you can't deal with work and it's okay the world keeps spending you know you don't have to deal with work Monday through Sunday like we feel like we do so I lock the phone away spend time with them take them somewhere and just be present with them and offer the credit card as well yeah and let Kristen go do whatever she wants to do okay we're going to wrap this up on because Thanksgiving is coming up what are you not thankful for not thankful for I heard you mention

something about your team maybe they're not winning that could that could be something oh yeah I'm not thankful for the situation that LSU football has found themselves in. That's a good one. you've been with nickel bag you've been touring alone doing other things yeah we've had a i mean it's been a great year we we got to start the year off at jelly roll um did a bunch of i think it was like 15 and 20 shows with him moved in the festivals did some stuff with riley did some stuff with dylan scott some of my own headline stuff complete released a debut record which was incredible um i can't believe it took more than five years of living in town to to do that but uh you know i've just been i guess patient on it and then uh first number one song at country radio which was awesome too so it's been it's been fun and why did it take those five years to come out with the record i think i'm starting like actually kind of figure it out today we were just kind of talking about everything reflecting and

i think for so long i was everybody was telling me like you have to figure out what your sounds going to be and what you want to be like and i was i'm a very confused listener of music like i listen to rock and roll growing up i listen to country i listen to pop and rap and the project finally just became a bunch of all that like you can go from one song that feels very you know more pop say heavy to And then it goes to like slamming rock. And I kind of wanted it to be that way because that's just who I am as a person, as a listener. And yeah, I just like to have the diversity on the project and allow people to kind of come to the project for what they, what version of me they like, I guess. Yeah, no, for sure.

Well, Anne, you have toured with a bunch of different people. So what's like the coolest thing you've learned about touring because you have learned from multiple different types of people? I think, you know, the best thing is just like it is your family. legitimately on the road. I'm gone 300 days a year or so. And that's the number one most important thing. And then longevity. I mean, touring with acts like Nickelback and Luke Ryan,

you start to realize that like 20 years is a long time, but it goes by very quick. And to have a career for that long, you know, you really need to not think about the things you need to do, but, you know, you're better off to take, like, for me, it's like I'd rather the steady climb and, you know, build a great foundation, have great people around me,

team, great band. And yeah, just, you know, I'm very blessed, so. Yeah, I totally get that. Okay, I wanted to ask you some social media questions. Do you hang out on social media at all? I do. Okay. Do you know what six, seven means? Yeah, I just did like the six, seven thing. Yeah, yeah. Do you know what it means, though? Like, do you know the definition of six, seven? No, what is it? There is no meaning. Okay. You're in the clear. No, the other day we went to, like, walk into the locker rooms, and it was like six, seven, so I got that did the little thing. Passed to the end zone so I could spike in. In Gillette. In Gillette. So the pressure was on. No way. He's doing all these stretches. Can you throw a football? Oh, I could throw football.

Chris. But can throw. throw a 60-yard pass. A lot of people don't know this about Chris. I win a lot of money. You see his eyes? 60's not bad. No, I could put him up against so many people and win money.

Dude, that's awesome. And I did for a long time. So I threw it and it was right in his hands. Perfect. It's viral. In his hands. But he spikes you. So there's only one other person that's throwing a touchdown pass.

How's life going? Because you are just having a year. It's pretty livable, honestly. I feel like everything good that could happen is happening right now. And I'm just, I'm super blessed to be a part of it. And I'm excited. A little nervous for tomorrow, but I'm excited for the whole thing. Okay, tell me why you're nervous?

Because I'm performing. Yeah, but on the CMA Awards. This is the moment that you've been waiting for. Oh, 100%. Absolutely. Definitely more excited than nervous, but still that those nerves are still there. But I feel like once I get up there and I hear, all right, one, two, three, I'll be, I'll be riding. It just is going to switch on and off.

Does that ever happen on stage normally? Or are you just out of that now? All the time. You know, somebody very wise once told me, Thomas Wrett, he told me, if you're not nervous, you don't care. And I feel like that's very true. You know, it's one of those things that there's just a switch that flips, and it's showtime. Okay. So if you're nervous, you care. What else do you care about? What else makes you nervous besides being on stage? Or are you like cool cucumber? You strike me as somebody who is kind of a cool cucumber.

I try. Blondes make me nervous. So am I making you nervous? No, we're cool. We go way back. I was like, we know each other at this point. No, I'm just kidding. Yeah, I know. I trust me, your song, Brunette. I'm well aware you actually don't like blondes anymore. I love everybody. I'm a lover of all of all women.

I try to stay away from the whole social media thing. Okay. Well, question. Are you a part of group seven? I don't know what that is. What is that? Okay. It was a video that an artist put up and she put like seven of them up.

I think it happened because when I was opening up for Kane Brown on tour, gosh, was that this year? Whatever. I think that was this year. This time is flying like crazy, but I met some of the owners of WWE at a show with him, and I think they became fans and it just kind of all like happened. But it was, it was wild. I mean, yesterday, yesterday, well, first off, Friday night, I put out my project called Ace and then we had a crazy busy week.

Saw you at the Red Bull Jukebox show. And then we just flew to New York and I played the Today Show first thing in the morning yesterday. And then I went to Madison Square Garden to sing for WWE. Are you breathing? Are you alive right now? Or is this like a AI version of you? Yes.

Weirdly, I'm like beyond great. I'm not sleeping much just because the nature of release week and awards week. We all are, you know, trying to fight through it. But I've just, I'm having so much fun, you know? It's just a fun time. I love this for you. Are you, like, what is the moment where you're, looking at your career right now because this is all kind of blown up in the last few years.

And you look at it and you're like, I don't even believe that that happened and I'm still trying to kind of grasp that it's real. Right. For sure. Have you had any of that moment yet? I mean, I think to like yesterday was one of those where I was like, this is just insane. But yeah, I think all of it. You know, I think getting to play headline shows and and hear people singing the words back to the songs and even just like recently my song, Baby Blues, off of my project. Oh my gosh. Okay, I've been seeing you do the baby blues to guys in the audience.

It's so fun. Is that a funny experience? Are they trying to hit on you back? Because I feel like it is this very flirtatious song. For sure, yeah. But then are they like, well, it's like the parisocial thing. Right. Because Ashley Cook is talking to me.

She recognized me in my eyes. For sure. I mean, kind of, but I will say like, everybody's very respectful. Nobody like gets weird or touchy or anything like that. Okay, this is good. But also, too, what I love, my favorite ones are when I'm, I, see a crowd and I see like a girlfriend and a boyfriend and the girlfriend's like pick him like he wants it like she's holding up a sign like my boyfriend has blue eyes like they want that to happen so it's

like I know it's respectful because they're clearly taken but it's just like a fun exchange of something that's like goofy and silly and something we can do together but I say well TikTok ships everybody I know every video they're like what about Palmer and what about this what about Casey everybody's like obsessed with the people that I pick which I love because it's just like a fun storyline Because everybody's objectively pretty attractive that's been showing up with a baby blues. I know how to pick them. You got great taste. Thank you.

That's so funny. So you're having a girl's girl moment where it's like the girlfriend's helping, but also you're having like a fan moment with someone. Yeah. Happens to be their boyfriend. And some of them are single and DM me afterwards and want to hang out and whatever. But, you know, it's regardless. It's very fun. It's fine.

I love this for you. Yeah. It's a good time. You're just in such a fun era where life is just kind of happening all around you. How do you stay grounded in all of that? I think just because I signed my record deal in like 2021, I want to say. So I've now been assigned artist for about four years. I've had a number one song, all the things.

And I just feel like I kind of went through the initial shock of it all. And now it's just knowing that God's got me and just taking a breath in it and praying that he opens the doors he wants to have open and he closes the ones that are not meant for me. And if I don't understand why they're closed, so be it. It's his plan. And I think I just have a lot of confidence in that where I used to stress about. how things are going to go and when things are going to happen and what needs to go down and if if things are not happening the way they should be happening and now I'm just like you know what

I'm going to show up my best put out the best work that I possibly can and God's got it that's it's it's the confidence I love that and hopefully that'll help other people too because it's always always the hope too I want to ask you some social questions that's go are you part of group seven yes isn't everybody though isn't that kind of the joke kind of a little bit now I don't know because I don't even know if everybody technically saw the video it's just now we're all collectively a part of the group seven that we now know about it? You saw the first video. I saw the series of videos.

I saw a few of them. Group seven was one of them because it was the most viral one. But I was like, well, I guess I'm in group seven, three, and one. So here we are. You're a woman of many groups. Exactly. Do you know what six, seven means? Okay, I don't know what it is.

He teaches me all the kind of things. Like he teaches me everything. I told him about yesterday at WWW. Oh my God, who's the comedian that was engaged to Ariana Grande. Oh, Pete Davidson. He was there in the ring and my dad told me, I can't say it on air because it's like not clean to say. But my dad was like, oh, he's the guy with the, and I was like, I think you know what I'm talking about. I don't know if you do.

But I was like, dad, why do you know this? I was like, I don't want to know this. Why do you know this? I love your dad. You know what? He's always with the times. He knows. He's doing so good.

Okay. Last question for you. Thanksgiving is coming up. What are you not? thankful for. Not thankful for? Oh gosh. That's such a good question. And you can take it so many different directions. Like I've said I'm not thankful for bad drivers or people who stay in the slow lane. I like that. Yeah. I would say I'm not thankful for plane turbulence. Oh, that's a good one. We just had some rough plane turbulence. I love that one. Ruff plane turbulence on the way to New York.

Cody Johnson here with us. Cody, I was just jamming in the car to your new cover of Travel and Soldier. That seems to be the topic of the day. I think I killed my own single. The single's the fall. And I have not interviewed a single time today about the fall. It's all been about Travel and Soldier. Okay, so we'll get to the fall.

I think we accomplished what we were trying to do with that song, obviously. Yeah, but what was the reason? I mean, the chicks, that's a song that came out, gosh, several years ago. What happened there? Well, that song didn't get the credit it deserved, first of all, like whenever they dropped it off the charts after some, whatever they did politically and everybody dropped it from radio. But I knew this song from Bruce Robinson and being from Texas. Yes, I'm fellow Texas girl here. Yeah, rest in peace, Charlie Robinson.

So we decided, me and my band decided to cut the song after we did the world tour. earlier in the year. Ireland, Scotland, England, Australia, New Zealand, everywhere we went, all they wanted to hear was traveling soldier. I mean, there's signs in the crowd. They come to meet and greet, traveling soldier, traveling soldier. And then it hit me. I was like, dude, this is not an America song. This is a world song. This is that everybody relates to this narrative, to this message, even though we may believe differently, we still get the feeling of this song. And so we just, my band and I went in the studio and did it exactly like we do it on stage. Oh, I love that. That's such a cool moment, too.

In case you already talked about so many times, what is happening with the fall? What's the inspiration behind the fall song? I think that it is yet another narrative that everybody can agree with, you know, the highs and lows of whatever it is, whatever your life, whatever your story is, in the end, the ride is worth the fall. And I thought, what a great message to put out. And for me, it was the one song that when I would play live instantly as soon as we started, everybody's got their phones out. And I thought, man, like, what an impactful moment. Because I noticed that in the big high adrenaline show, I noticed this is the song that we play that all the phones come out.

Unless you're, you know, like, aside from prompting them to light it up with the flashlights or whatever, they all had their phones out. And I was like, the world needs to hear this. Well, and that's cool because you're really gauging what your audience and your fans want, and you're just rolling with it. And I think that's such a cool part of it. No, I mean, we, in this industry, we have so much research and data and all these things and algorithms that tell you what you're supposed to do and what you're not.

I literally just pay attention to the fans. That's your data. That's my live data. With Thanksgiving coming up, we are very curious to know Cody Johnson's favorite dish. Like, what are you looking most for, too? The stuffing and the cranberry sauce. Okay. Wait, do you put cranberry sauce on your stuffing?

Yes. Okay. I am in my heart and in my soul, I am a 600-pound man. I'm telling you, when it comes to Thanksgiving, I just go ahead and wear sweatpants. anything elastic and just go all out. You put cranberry on your stuffing? I'm not a big cranberry person, but Hudson Westbrook said that he puts grape jelly on his stuffing.

I'm going to try that now. Yes. I was like, yeah, same. Sounds good. A whole argument because I've never actually seen anybody eat gravy or cranberry something, but it's always at the table. So now you're my evidence against it. No, yeah.

I can drink the gravy and follow it with the stuffing. Really? Like shooting with an IV, giving the gravy? Absolutely. I did have a... Those are the football sweats. Follow up to the stuffing or the dressing question because there's cornbread and then there's like white bread. Do you know the difference?

Do you care? Okay. I got cornbread. Okay. You know, my dad, South Texas boy, grew up like South of San Antonio in Dilley, Texas, loved to cook, and he would do a combo. Cornbread and white bread combo. And I know some... That's basically stuffing.

That's stuffing, right? Well, no, he would call it dressing, though. Isn't dressing and stuffing the same thing? They're just different. Cody's acting like they're not. We're at tomato tomato at this point. Okay, I don't know. I thought that was like the same thing.

Ham or turkey. Oh, turkey. Really? I'm ham. My dad is like a ham guy, so I don't think I've ever had a turkey at my Thanksgiving for like the last five years. Last year for Thanksgiving, we went to our neighbor's house and Ms. Trudy cooked some fried chicken. Oh, my God. As my grandpa would say, it said, it'd make your tongue beat your brains out.

out is so good. So when you say neighbor, I'm probably picturing, like, your neighbor is probably not, like, next door. No, you take a buggy ride. Yeah. For sure. We're not, like, close. Yeah, yeah, because I'm like, I'm sure there's some, like, acres of separation. But, like, I love that you still go to your neighbor's house.

Some of that is lost. I only have four neighbors within 10,000. And you, I bet you know them all. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Do you bring them cookies or, like, baked goods ever? No. Did they bring you cookies or baked goods?

I don't know. My wife, let me take that back. My wife does. I don't. Okay. There you go. I'm more like, hey, your bull's out. Do you want him back?

Like, now that all of this has happened in the past year, are you still paying for everything and doing the whole record label on your own? So I've kept, it's been really fun. I've kept my record label. It's called Lyric Ridge, and we partnered with BMG, which is an amazing label, and we sent tough people to country radio, got top 10, which was super exciting.

And just a couple weeks ago, we sent a new single called Rebel. But what's been so special, I kept this radio team, and now we've been working Brandon Lake and Jelly Rolls, hard fault, hallelujah, to Country Radio, and we just sent a new artist named Julia Cole to Country Radio, too. She's one of my good friends.

She's awesome. She's amazing. And so our little label is now getting to help other artists along their journeys and along their paths. And it's been really special to me. It really means a lot to me that, like, not only did we have success, but now hopefully we can help other artists careers and paths along the way. Yeah.

Does your bank account look a lot different? Man, I don't have to, like, fund this alone anymore. And that was very scary. I remember there was nights at like 3 a.m. being up and crying, like tears in my kitchen. Like, how am I going to pay for this? How do I have this staff now? And yes, she's somebody's daughter streaming and I own this song. And but how knowing I have a little boy that was like six months old at the time.

And I'm spending all this money trying to navigate it. I got a new wife and very, very scary financially to figure out how to pull this off. And then here you are. Here we are. Have you upgraded houses? or have you stayed in the same house? We got a new house now. That's big time.

That's a big time. And I got a new truck. I got a new truck. That's when you know what's real. It's great news. And we got a vacation house. Oh, not a vacation house yet.

No, but he's now investing in other artists, which I bet is a cool experience just in general from going from what you started at and you were talking about crying in a kitchen to now being able to put effort into other artists because of all of this. Yeah. And I just feel like it was such an answer prayer for me and just talking to God. and I just think, you know, I know what it's like to be an artist that is struggling,

that is trying to figure their path out and how to get on radio. And, you know, I feel for them in such a way that I, that no other person, no other record head can feel that. And it's been really special to watch Julia hear her song on the radio for the first time and be a, I mean, just a small, I mean, we're such a small part of that. But it's, I hope that we get to help other artists along the way and also, you know, have more music of our own, go up the chart and keep, touring and going out on the out on the road but yeah it's a joy of mine for sure of helping other artists so what are some of the cool things like now that you have that number one song and everything you're starting to blow up cool events that you've gotten to go to that you're just like man

i can't believe i'm here oh man um i think the after party of the acms was a special moment it was like i remember sitting at the table and it was like everybody was around i mean i was hanging with post and Jelly and Avril Levine and I was just like, what the freak am I doing sitting here at this table and all these cool people are around. And that was one of those moments that was like, oh crap, like we're in the game, coach, you know, and we get to be obviously a small part of that, but it's just that has been one of those moments that I go back to. I'm like, you know what? We are in the game. We get to hang out with all these people now. And not that that's everything by any means. but that was one of those moments for sure.

It was like, oh, crap. What about, like, a Cracker Barrel bathroom or something when you're at the urinal? Have you heard your song over a speaker anywhere? Yeah, I mean, I've been in a pilot bathroom out on the road at a gas station and have heard it. Not a Cracker Barrel is high class. You know, I was in a pilot and heard it. That was pretty sweet. That's pretty cool.

Like, you're sitting there and probably looking at the guy next and going, hey, trucker, you know, that's my song. That's right, bro. That's really cool. Well, we do have Thanksgiving coming up, so we have to ask you a very intense question. What you got? What are you not thankful for? Oh, my gosh. What am I not?

We just heard all about all the things you are thankful for. So we got to mix it up a little bit. What am I not thankful for? Hmm. I don't know. That's a, that's a throw me off question because I had all my things that I'm thankful for. Yeah, that's too easy. In my head, that's too easy.

That's too easy. Everybody can come up with thankful things. Like, you know what I'm really not thankful for is people who suck at driving. Like, they really, they really, didn't go to school to drive at all. That's a good one. And they kind of just really make life harder sometimes. So that's what I'm not thankful for. Is people

that change their kids' diaper and then just throw it in the parking lot? Like that is disgusting. Yeah, that's for that too. As a former cart guy at Sam's Club, and I'd have to pick those diapers up. It's just like, just throwing the trash gear or leaving your car so you find a trash can. Like, what are we doing throwing it on the ground? What I'm not thankful for is the people on the airplane to get up in the back and walk sprint to the front when you're trying to get off.

But you do. autographs so you're still right yeah I'm still but I get the smud look I have smudged on there from that because you go over you push with it sucks what I've heard you know a guy that's left-handed we do glasses like you yeah comes with the territory yeah we know it do how are you how are things

going I mean you're rocking and rolling lately does it feel good it's good yeah it's good we just wrapped up tour not too long ago and it was really like a really cool end of the tour a couple of really big shows and um I actually took a long break in October with my wife, my daughter, and just sort of, you know, getting geared up again to just do a bunch stuff until Christmas and, you know. Do you all go anywhere, cool? Like, isn't it weird? Like, you travel so much, so when you were like, let's go on vacation, where do you go?

And my wife stays, she's home a lot, so she's like, let's go somewhere. I'm like, please. But we have a place in Florida that we just, but we just got it. So we went, so, like, we bought it and then, like, did not stay in it. So the second, I got off tour, we went down there for like a month and just sort of broke it in and it was awesome. So that's, now we're, we're, we're, we're forced to go there for a while since we have it, you know, but it's fun. Are you, do you feel like you kind of have two different personas, like one that's this road life party? And then you go home and you get to be a dad and a husband and just chill?

Yeah, certainly. Yeah, of course. You know, I mean, it's, it's kind of similar to, you know, it's weird. I get this question a lot. There's a lot of me on stage and stuff that is still very much part of my personality. But it is somewhat of a kind of like a professional wrestler thing, you know, where the show is the show. And that's kind of my, that's who I am as an entertainer.

And who I am as a person is just a little different. But tell me, are you singing like rock and roll lollivis to your kiddo? Yeah. So there's a spot a Spotify playlist that's called Twinkle, Twinkle Little Rocks, star and somebody went in and they, they lullabide all these cool rock songs. And so I saved all of my favorite ones. And thankfully now Rosie

is like, she's like in a thing where we just, when it's bedtime, we just put her in bed, she falls asleep. But for a long time when we had to rock her, I would just play twinkle, twinkle little rock star. It's like black hole sun by the sound garden, but it's like playing lullaby. It's like little bells and stuff. It's sick. It's cool. That's really cool. So are you hoping she kind of grows up to be a rock star like you?

Or is that just hoping she likes the music? As long as she likes the music, she's not going to have a choice. She's literally not going to have a choice. As soon as she kind of gets old enough to understand music, like really understand it, it's on. It's just going to be a lot of the good stuff. But, you know, I'm thankful for my dad for pretty much forcing rock and roll on me because of how much I love it now. And I'm going to certainly do the same to her. You know, she's 13 or 14.

She doesn't like it. That's fine. But I'm not going to give her a chance at the beginning. What's going to be weird is when she's going to try to get you into her music and you're going to be like, that's cool. but I'm just going to be a hipster about like the wheels on the bus Yeah, that's all right

in the last couple years and I don't know why, but just the sensation of being like extremely nauseated is something that I will never ever, ever, ever, ever wish for. So that's, I don't know if that's the right way. I'm not unthinkful

for it. I just don't want it to exist. No, you got it. You got that. In the circuit of eating a lot of food and Thanksgiving and food poisoning. That's perfect because mine are the people that don't thank you when you hold the door for them. That's mine. I'm not thankful for those people. Oh, man. You know what I mean? Dude.

It's like you take you go out of the food. I'm not. the way, hold the door for them, and they just walk in. Another one that very similar is when you let somebody in, and they don't wait that you do. And I was like, I don't know yet because I'm trying to figure out if, like, both my kids will come or what we're going to do. But I have a lot of family going. And they're like, yeah, I think we're going to go see Riley Green on Friday night. Did you know that you're playing there? I did.

You decided not to go? No, I still don't know yet. But that's how it came up. And they just said that to me last night. And then I saw you walking up and I was like, and then I was like, wait, I think you, did you go to Auburn? I didn't go to Auburn. I'm an Auburn thing. Being from Alabama, you always got to kind of ride the fence a little bit as an artist because you can completely split your fan base.

But I love Auburn, and there's not a great venue down there. You know, there's a sky bar and a few bars I played when I was coming up. But we're playing the basketball arena. And it's a charity show. And it's right before the Iron Bowl. So that's the only way I was going to get to go to the Iron Bowl, have a Saturday off to go is, you know, go play a show down there. Go play. And so you will go to the game.

Yeah, I'm going to go to the game. Probably, probably try to beat like the Matthew McConaughey of Auburn, walking on the sideline with a cowboy hat on, you know, with like a real stiff leather jacket on. Yeah. That'd be cool. He's definitely coined that role with UT. Like, he's like Matthew McConnorah has, he's like a vibe on the field for UT.

It's cool. It's cool that it's like, it's just a fictional character that's there and he's just hanging out. He's definitely very real. So I wonder, yeah, splitting your fan base, you're like, obviously they know your Auburn, but sometimes like, do you ever like, Do you ever say Roll Tide? I don't say it, but it's inferred sometimes. You just say like, oh, roll.

Yeah, I don't even get the R out. No, I've got some songs that I wrote about my Grandaddy that, and he was a big Alabama fan. A lot of my family is Alabama fan, so I kind of use that, like Alabama, beating Tennessee, and a song, Hella Way to Go. So it's a little gray. Yeah. People don't really know. So you said Grand Ditty, and I have family from Alabama, and they say I grew up in Texas,

but my all my cousins say Diddy. Diddy. Mama, Diddy. And so we were talking to Bobby because Bobby's having a baby. Yeah. What is he going to be called? Well, that's the question. What is he like is your dad, dad, daddy or diddy?

See, well, he's not Diddy. Let's put that out there first and foremost, folks. I mean like Daddy. Daddy. I call my dad pops. Okay. Oh, okay. You're another pops.

Okay. Because Eddie does pop. Well, I like Fresh Prince of Bel Air when I was growing up. and I feel like he would call people pops. Okay. So you do pop. Okay. Well, I just know if you wanted to put your intake on what Bobby should be called.

Like, this year. If you said you're grateful for something that happened this year, it'd be something that happens. Disease didn't happen this year. Political tension, division. Oh, ooh, you could be like. You said division, like math? Oh, did you just have? No, division of people.

Like, that didn't happen this year either. It's like, that's always been going on. Fine, like, elephants? How about like I lost my finger? Okay, but you didn't. Yeah, but that's a good example. See what I'm saying? Okay, yeah.
