It's also us just hanging out, having Guy Talk. And earlier this year, our NFL player friend, I mean, he's a long snapper, plays in NFL, Matt Overton, stop by, and we get the ins and out of the NFL from him. If you like this episode, you should subscribe to hear a lot, lot more.
Starting point is 00:03:23 Yeah, you can subscribe on Apple Podcast, listen on IHart Radio, or wherever you get your podcast. Yes. And here's our episode with the one, the only Matt Overtin. What up, everybody? I am Lunchbox. I know the most about sports. So I'll give you the sports facts, my sports opinions, because I'm pretty much a sports genius. Sports genius. Oh, my gosh. Hey, what's up? I'm Eddie, and I know the least about the sports, but I'm your average sports fan, your sports watcher. I just don't know the who's who's or the what's what. What up you guys? It's Sisson Raymundo. I'm from the North. I'm an alpha male. And when I go to the clubs with my entourage, I don't just drink a beer normally.
Starting point is 00:04:02 I shotgun it. Hashtag sore losers shotgun. And guess what we have today, boys? Let me drop the audio. We got car keys and a beer right in front of you, Coach. Let it rip. Come on, I got my phone. We need video.
Starting point is 00:04:15 That's how he wants to start the show. Yes, absolutely. It better not be gross. I don't know how old it is. I got it from upstairs. Oh, you're going to have him shotgun. Come on, Chip. Coach, do not get it on the board.
Starting point is 00:04:27 Let me do it on the board. Okay, get it too, Madillo? Introduce Matt. And ladies and gentlemen, also. Oh, yeah, either one. Also joining in the podcast today. Yeah, we have a special guest. Yeah, these guys forget to introduce people and stuff like that.
Starting point is 00:04:39 On radio, they can't see. NFL veteran, long snapper for the Colts and Jagwires. Dude is currently a free agent, and don't worry, he'll be on a team shortly. And his name, look, Adam Vanitari wouldn't be as good without him. So this is Matt Overton. Welcome. All right, they both have beers. I'm getting the camera out.
Starting point is 00:04:58 Here we go. Oh, yeah. We are shotguning live on. a Friday. Ramundo is piercing the can. I mean, dude, hey, some guys just bite it.
Starting point is 00:05:07 You know that. The claws do it a lot easier than this. Sorry, guys. They're not used to a booed light. Yeah, I'm ready for. Coach, just,
Starting point is 00:05:13 yeah, it's fine. Do you think Ray is going to puke on the board? No. Yeah, it's a little early, guys. I know you listen to this podcast and you're going home from your crappy jobs,
Starting point is 00:05:21 but right now it's like 10 a.m. Coach, poke the hole and let's do this thing. Do you use these keys to get into your house? Yeah, those keys might be the dole things I've ever seen.
Starting point is 00:05:32 Our keys usually sharp. There we go. There we go. It's Friday, baby. Gross, dude. I rarely do this, but this is a special occasion. This is so gross. What are you talking about? This hour. So you do this every Saturday. All right. Three, two, one. Boom. Oh, guys. Oh, my gosh. Oh, my God. They spilled half of it. No, they did great.
Starting point is 00:05:52 There we go. It's Friday. Yeah. Oh, that was. Nice. Hey, Maddieo, let me ask you a question. Have you ever shotgun to White Claw? That sounds awful.
Starting point is 00:06:09 I don't like White Claw. Is that even possible? Whoa, don't ever say that statement again, you don't like white Claw. I really don't. Okay. Dude, you are in the minority. You're the 1% of Americans. No, I told you I don't like it either.
Starting point is 00:06:21 Really? You don't like the hard cellar? No, I bought a six-pack. I bought Black Cherry, I think is what it was. And it was fine. But no, I didn't really like it. All right. You know who likes it?
Starting point is 00:06:29 Sororities. Typical guys in the west side of town in the suburbs. Love them. Okay. That's me. How are you feeling? That was great, dude. You're good?
Starting point is 00:06:36 You ready to do this? That was a blast with shotgun with my boy. Ask him, then. Are we going to do the menu? Oh, dude. The menu is all screwed up now because I didn't know we were going to have a special guest. We had an appetizer of shotgun beers. I know, but I didn't know Matt Overton was stopping by.
Starting point is 00:06:50 So now that Matt's here, I mean, we're going to have to talk NFL. We're going to talk about his journey because he's a free agent right now, waiting for a team to call and say, hey, let's go. I mean. But I also want to hear his opinion. on like regular stuff. Well, that's why I got Kevin Durant. He's coming into?
Starting point is 00:07:04 No, it seems like a bitter dude. Like, I don't know what is wrong with the guy, but he's just weird to me. And I'll tell you why. He is a strange fellow. Yes. And how confident are you in the Astros? Okay. There was a bet that was placed back in April and it could net the guy like $40,000.
Starting point is 00:07:24 Are we still talking about Mattress Mac? No, no, different dude. And so he put. So here's how he had. So I want to know how confident you are in the Astros. And there's a bet on Burrow to win the Heisman. And the casino wanted to settle with the guy up front because he bet when he was 200 to one odds. They're like, hey, hey, hey, we'll give you this amount of money if you cash out now.
Starting point is 00:07:47 And I want to know if you'd cash out. Interesting. He's got to be the frontrunner. And then we were supposed to do our speeches, but I guess we're going to have to hold off on that. We can do the speech too. Do the speech tonight in front of your wife and kid. Don't have to do it on the podcast. All right, that too.
Starting point is 00:07:59 Okay. Hey, he spent five hours putting this together. Dear David Ross. Or what were we giving us to? No, no, because what happened is the Cubs hired David Ross as their new manager. But let's, I mean, preface this. The Cubs are your team. The Cubs are my team.
Starting point is 00:08:16 This is your new manager. Yeah, and my new manager of my favorite baseball team. And they said that what set him apart was his pep speech for spring training, like what he would give to the team. And I'm like, really? So that's what you. looked forward to managers who could walk into spring training and give a good pep talk. That's what got him the job. To me, that just seems like the most baffling requirement in a job interview.
Starting point is 00:08:40 Okay, hey, David. So spring training starts. What would you say to the team on the first day of spring training? And he gets up and gives a speech and that's what got him the job. Yeah. Seems weird. So I thought we would give our speeches about the podcast. That would be interesting.
Starting point is 00:08:54 But, I mean, we were so jam-packed, dude. I know. Matt O, is your fiancé? Are you guys married? She's in here. Is that a cult cheerleader? Is two cult cheerleaders or what? She's an ex-X.
Starting point is 00:09:07 X. X, ex-Colts cheerleader. I knew it, dude. Pro-Bore, too. We got a pro-boer in the house. You letting her sit next to lunchbox? Brie, my fiancee. Okay, okay, Bree.
Starting point is 00:09:20 Got you, got you. Sarah did not have, she did not. She was not cheering. Wait, so we have to talk about this. Like, did you guys meet on the field? Like, did you, like, accidentally run out of bounds? Like, oh, excuse me. Coach, we've already said this.
Starting point is 00:09:32 They weren't allowed to do it talk when he was playing. They were friends. And then after the fact, when he went to a different team, right? Or she retired. That's when you guys ended up. No, no, no. We dated while I played. See?
Starting point is 00:09:44 But you're not on any team anymore. So you can say all the real stuff now. It's like writing a book. She wasn't, she cheered for what? A half a season while we dated? Three months. Oh, that's it. So how do you, do you meet at like a charity of function?
Starting point is 00:09:57 Or do you just see her? Oh, dude, on the field. She saw him tackle Edelman. We all saw the picture. Yeah, great picture. Great picture. But no, for real, like, how does that work? Like, because do you see the cheerleaders that often?
Starting point is 00:10:10 No. Well, we do appearances together. That's what I mean. So you met in an appearance. No, we didn't. We met through a mutual friend. She was living with her at the time. Okay.
Starting point is 00:10:18 And a teammate and myself, we would go over on Monday nights to watch a bachelor and have wine night. The bachelor brought you together. That's where it's at. That is what I did. And you know how much. I'm not talking about. I love it. I used to go over Monday nights.
Starting point is 00:10:32 Monday nights, right? And we'd go watch the show. And at the time, she, the girl that owns the home had other cheerleaders that lived with her, like a little sorority. It was a freaking cheerleader house.
Starting point is 00:10:43 And my fiance and Bree moved in like a year later or something like that. And that's kind of how we initially met, right? Yeah, through a mutual friend. She hated the fact that it came over. She'd like... Were you the only dude over there? Or were there other guys?
Starting point is 00:10:55 There's other dudes. Okay, okay. You know? And, uh... Still a smart player? on your part, good job, dude. It was fun. We had a good time. It was like a tradition. Did you go because you knew what kind of house it was? Be real. Yeah, the cheerleaders are great people.
Starting point is 00:11:09 But of course you go over there. Listen. But they're also on the same team, coach. It's a bonding experience. If there's hot chicks watching The Bachelor and you watch the Bachelor and you want to be around hot chicks, of course you're going to go to the house. I mean, it's a foolproof plan. Yeah, when I was in a frat, I was in one for a little while, the girls would invite us over to their house and the house mom would make us brunch. Did we really want to go over there and have pillow talk with chicks?
Starting point is 00:11:30 No, but they're all hot. And the house mom cooked for us. Exactly. Same comparison, Matt. Kind of the same thing. Okay. So what season of The Bachelor are you, do you guys meet? Like, do you remember who was The Bachelor?
Starting point is 00:11:42 Oh, man, this was 2014. Probably a farmer. So it might have been that dude. Yeah. They got arrested. Yes. Drinking and driving. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:50 The guy that killed somebody. Well, no, he did. Well, he did die. Well, yeah. And he was drunk. But no, he didn't get charged with DWI, I don't think. Right, because he fled. I mean, there's an answer to all of that.
Starting point is 00:12:01 Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I think. Because that's crazy because my wife, she went into labor when we were watching The Bachelorette. Oh, really? Yeah, Becca season. And that has nothing to do with this story. No, no, but it's like we're on the same level. Life moments happened during the Bachelor of the Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise.
Starting point is 00:12:17 Yeah, but she hated the fact that I was at the house. When we would watch, she'd be up in a room because she didn't want to, she was the captain. And as the captain, she had to make sure that her girls were responsible. expecting the rules of the game. And they weren't. Oh. Okay. So she was a little bitter.
Starting point is 00:12:32 She was a little upset. So she hated the fact that I came up. So who was there? Manning. You, Manning. Dallas Clark. Hey, Reggie Wayne. Reggie Wayne.
Starting point is 00:12:40 Dwightie. T.Y. Fittary. McAfee. That's what I picture in my head. I'm like, all right. All the greats are there. Everyone James is there.
Starting point is 00:12:50 Before we get into everything, we got to play the game of America loves. It's called, Would You Rather? Would you rather? Oh my God. It's okay. The audio's not working. Guys, the audio will work sometime this year. Sorry about that. Would you rather Halloween always be on the last day in October or the last Saturday of October?
Starting point is 00:13:11 I don't give a crap when it is. It doesn't matter if it's on a Wednesday, a Monday, a Sunday. I have kids. Four kids. We go trick-a-treating and then we call it a night. But the whole point of the question is, would you rather it always be on the last Saturday of October? Or what? Or the date, October 31st.
Starting point is 00:13:29 I don't care, Coach. October 30. first. This may be the dumbest would you rather ever. Saturday. Because people have petitions to get it on the last Saturday so kids can stay out later. Well, that doesn't mean. The kids aren't going to stay out later. My kids go to bed at 9-9 any day of the week. Saturday, they don't stay up later. It's like they're tired. They wake up early. They go to bed at a certain time. Saturday.
Starting point is 00:13:53 But you're speaking from a single dude. He's not single. No, but I'm going into parenthood soon. His fiance is next to him. Okay. No, I'm talking. I'm talking like, you know, you want to go to a party and stay out late, right? I'm just saying I would rather prefer to have my doorbell ring Saturday evening than Tuesday evening until midnight. There you go. Okay. In the suburbs, lives on a lake. He doesn't
Starting point is 00:14:13 want the doorbell being rang. Guys, listen, here's the deal with the Halloween's in the middle of the week. So I'm all about Saturday, because then you've got two guaranteed party days, Friday, Saturday. But if it's a Tuesday or Wednesday, the weekend before, do you dress up in Halloween costumes? Trust me, I've been there before. You wear the costume? Nobody at
Starting point is 00:14:29 the bar is wearing the costume the weekend before. Learn that the hard way. It's apparently the weekend after when they go hard for the Halloween costumes. Lunchbox? I think you are mistaken your dates because it's always the weekend before. You're not going to go out in November in the costumes. You don't wait until the weekend after Halloween. Yeah, once the day comes.
Starting point is 00:14:48 I guess there's a day. So if it's a Thursday that's Halloween, it's the weekend after. Now that may, it just depends where it falls. But I'm good with Halloween being on the 31st. Don't change it to be on a... Quit being sissies. Let your kids stay out late on Halloween. It's one day out of the whole year.
Starting point is 00:15:06 Who gives a crap? I don't think it's about the kids. I don't. These are just people that want to party on Saturday. Well, they can still party on Halloween. It's not, you're adults. Yeah. I mean, you go to work at 9 a.m.
Starting point is 00:15:17 If you roll in 30 minutes late, what's the big deal? Yeah, most bosses don't care. You can have your, like, costume smeared on your face a little bit. Just as long as you show up for the day, you're good. And most companies have a costume contest. Yeah, show up in your sexy catwoman outfit. it. No one cares. No one's going to bat an eye. You know the sales ladies upstairs are doing
Starting point is 00:15:34 some costume context. Sexy cops. Sexy or sexy Dorothy? Hey, if they're doing door prizes and they want to win it, they'll show up. Sexy Dorothy? Yeah, you never seen sexy. Oh, yeah, dude. My fiance works at Lids Corp. So what do you dress them up as for your party? Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:15:52 Well, you have less than a week. Are you talking like, are you trying to go skimpy or you trying to go like cool creative? They have to be sexy. Oh, we work at the corporate. Her boss is there, so they're going to keep it appropriate. Yes, Coach, they're not showing up in lingerie. Can't be the devil?
Starting point is 00:16:06 Can you, can you, I don't know how you can make it. One of the best costumes I've ever seen, I was in Arizona for my cousin's wedding. It was Halloween. We go out to the bars. Someone was a tube sock. It was genius. Like, it was very simple. They're not going to be tube socks.
Starting point is 00:16:19 No, but it was life sock. You know what I mean? I had the one green ring around the, you know, those old white tubes up? Like a clean tube sock or like already one? No, no, no. a clean one. But it was just, it was creative
Starting point is 00:16:31 because you would nothing, you know, something simple. You know one that I did see? Just some random guy at the bar. Well, you're giving a guy costume to a girl. No.
Starting point is 00:16:40 It could be, it could be either or. I'm saying it could be something simple. It could be either or. I saw one homemade. It's kind of cool, but it's got to be a night thing. It was like a stick man.
Starting point is 00:16:48 So they wore like a regular, like a regular tight skin thing or whatever, and they taped glow sticks all the way down. So at night you would just, it would be a stick man walking. Love it. That's cool. So that was cool.
Starting point is 00:16:57 Or they, it was, either glow sticks or like rope lights either way. Okay. Here's the thing. Girls are all into the unitards now. Whatever you got to do with the unitards. It's where they do they wear this.
Starting point is 00:17:06 It's like Catwoman like a body suit. Those are really, really popular now. So anything you got to do wear the Unitard in some sexy way. But obviously it's a corporate office. It's a corporate office. It's fine. You can still be sexy in the corporate office. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:17:19 Yeah. And then obviously on top you got to have the lid. You got to support your company or something like that. You got to work the lid. Well, see, I, that's what my first thought was. you work for lids is if you could make a life-size hat, like be a hat. Like the tube sock. That's where I was trying to go. I got you. I got you. The tube sock would...
Starting point is 00:17:36 I like lids, by the way. Like, I own probably four lids hats. Mostly because I were... Okay, you don't have to suck up to them. I'm not, but mostly we were in the city. Hey, guys, I like lids. I go to lids. I go to lids. I go to lids. You know I wear hats. Yeah, yeah. So I go to lids. This one's not... What is this one? No, it's not a lids. Somebody gave me this one. Hey, guys, I go to lids. Oh, this isn't a lids. This is a surferferferfer. Hey guys, you weren't going to lids?
Starting point is 00:18:00 Oh my gosh, I love lids. Like, I've been going to lid since I was like 14. Do I sound like that? No, you don't. Thank you, Matt. Matt, what is that hat? Is that Pittsburgh Pirates? That's Puma, dude.
Starting point is 00:18:11 No, Puma, man. That's Ricky Fowler. Ricky Fowler fan, man. You would, dude. Ricky Fowler has swagged out, man. Are you playing a little bit more golf now? No, no, no. In Florida, I was.
Starting point is 00:18:21 Wait, wait, Brie just said yes. No, in Florida I played, I played twice a week in Florida almost. Oh, nice. Nice. That is awesome. I mean, for 30 bucks, you have some of the best courses in the world. I've heard it's real cheap. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:33 Really cheap because I've had buddies go on vacation there. Eddie included and say, man, there's so many golf courses. It's 25, 30 bucks. Boom, you're on the course. And they're beautiful. Here we pay 50 bucks for a crappy place. Oh, my God. The munies here are ridiculous.
Starting point is 00:18:45 But in India, I played twice in the past. I played with my dad last weekend. And then I played at the Lids Corp outing. Oh, they had an outing. Oh, great outing. The best I've had, the best I went to. Do you love Lids too? I do.
Starting point is 00:18:58 You've been going to lid since you were 14? No, about, I was probably 17, 18-ish. He's making fun of me, but thanks for your honest answer. All right, let's talk. Matt, you, NFL, okay, I mean, I don't want to bring up bad memories, but the season's about the start. Yeah. And you get released by the Jaguars.
Starting point is 00:19:17 Did you have any idea? No, blindsided. Blindsided. Yeah. So how does, like, for people that are listening that have never, you know, how does that happen? Like, how does it go down? If you don't want to talk about it.
Starting point is 00:19:29 You just get that dreaded phone call, man. Oh. It's a phone call? It's a phone call. Yeah. Dang. Is it a phone call like while you're. No, coach, it's a FaceTime.
Starting point is 00:19:39 Of course it's a phone call. What? No, is it a fake. Is it a phone call like when you're expecting to do something right before you're expecting to do something or when is that? So Saturday. So Saturday. Is it like 6 a.m.
Starting point is 00:19:50 They wake you up or is it normal time? It was on a Sunday that they called me. But Saturday they announced the 53 man roster. Right. So I was on the roster then. Right. That's what I'm saying. And then so by, I think Sunday by 4 p.m., they had to have the rosters finalized.
Starting point is 00:20:03 So they do a lot of acquisitions from other guys that are getting released from teams. And so on noon that Sunday, the GM called, hey, Matt, it's one of those tough days. They called you a church of all time. That's what they say. That's how the conversation is, hey, it's one of those tough things, you know? One of those tough days, man. So right when you see it's the GM calling you, do you know immediately? Oh, yeah, for sure.
Starting point is 00:20:27 Who was it, Urse? No, this is in Jacksonville. Jacksonville. Dave called Will. If you don't know, just stop. But he called me, hey, you know, when you get a chance, come and see the coaches, get your stuff. You got to hit him with the, nah, I'm good, dog. No, I'm busy today, man.
Starting point is 00:20:44 Hey, you know, I'm trying to get that tomorrow. That's cool. Oh, hey, hold on real quick. Somebody else is calling. Hey, the Broncos are calling, dog. And then my coach called. Okay. Hey, tough day, huh?
Starting point is 00:20:57 Yeah. It is. Would you rather your coach not call? After the GM calls, is it just kind of like, okay, they're just trying to be nice? Or do you, is it like the? I don't know, man. It's just, that was, I've been through it before. Every team's different.
Starting point is 00:21:11 You know, sometimes they'll call, a scout will call or somebody will call to say the GM wants to see you. Like when I got released from the Colts, I got a text message. Oh, on a Monday morning before. A text day. From one of the front office people. hey you know when you get in when you get into the office come see the GM bring your bring your playbook kind of thing bring your iPad okay so I knew what it was right so you get you get released and what's the like what's your immediate thing do you go to the bar and get hammered
Starting point is 00:21:43 like to drown your feelings or do you just get on the phone with your agent start I mean how does it work I called my fiance told her she was you need that comfort yeah I needed a little She's got that. And as a fiancé, what does a, what does she say to you? Like, what do you say when you get a call? She was upset. She was devastated. Right.
Starting point is 00:22:05 No, no, I'm just, I'm, this is, because listen, I hate to bring up the bad memories, but this is an inside look that our listeners have, would never understand how it works and what the feelings are. And so I just wonder where you go from there. Do you immediately fly back to Indy or do you immediately start calling other teams? How does it work? I bet that dude was training that day. What's that? Right.
Starting point is 00:22:26 No, I was actually at the beach. We had a hurricane coming, coach. Oh, God. That's right. Week one. Yeah, we had a hurricane coming. So I went, so I lived. Was it Nestor or what?
Starting point is 00:22:36 What was flying through? What was it? I don't remember. It doesn't freaking matter. Coach, I'm a hurricane officiantado. So. Irma. No, I was it.
Starting point is 00:22:49 Irma was last year. No, I'm at the beach because like before my first year in Jacksonville, we actually got hit by a hurricane and like the the surf and the weather's crazy it's like kind of cool get the boards everyone's out there yeah you're right yeah yeah you're right thing's good best surf of the year so i got at the beach and i'm walking around and everyone's out taking pictures because like the clouds are crazy the waves are crazy and this is like three days out before it actually hits the mainland and so i was out there and um got the got the phone call out there so i immediately called her walk back to the house called my mom my dad called the couple might like my kickroom punter told them okay and then
Starting point is 00:23:26 um kind of just sat there and chilled for a couple hours because i had to figure out what i was going to do am i going to wait this hurricane thing out or i'm just going to say deuce is and pack my stuff and hit a flight home you know but i had my car there too so yeah what do i do so talk to her a little bit um talked to my agent too uh went in and you know going into the locker room sucks you know because the only people that are in there on a Sunday are dudes that are getting released. Oh. Guys walking out with black trash bags
Starting point is 00:23:55 with other stuff, walk in. Do you guys talk to each other or is it just kind of give each other a look like you know what you're going through? A little bit. If you don't know the guy,
Starting point is 00:24:03 it's kind of like, hey man, good luck. Yeah. You know, but if you know the guy, you kind of just say, hey, man, what happened? And like, what they say? You know, it sucks. Right. But so I go in there,
Starting point is 00:24:12 clean my locker room out, give some big bro hugs to like the equipment guys and, you know, medical staff people. And it sucks because I don't even get to see like the dudes that I really want to see right you know like the teammates you never got to say goodbye to like the jaguar mascot no jacks no no no dang that sucks
Starting point is 00:24:28 yeah like even my kicker and punter that's up I didn't even get to say him out of con lambo no no lambo no lambo you know I mean it sucked you know but uh so I packed my stuff I said I'm not gonna sit I'm not gonna sit around because they were closing the beaches okay you know so you don't want to be around no no a hurricane Canes coming through and you got got by the team. Coach, and you made it out on the other side. Talk about a storm coming, bro.
Starting point is 00:24:54 Yeah. So I got on a flight. I left my car at the airport. Figured that was the safest place for it to be. And yeah, I got all myself in my locker, said my goodbyes to the coaches. It was crazy, too, man. It was like, I talked to the GM. Me and the GM are cool.
Starting point is 00:25:10 But Tom Coughlin is essentially like the GM too. Right. I thought that's what he would call you. He wasn't. And he walked past me in the hallway. the first person that I saw when I walked through the hallway. Oh, okay. And he didn't say nothing to me. He probably didn't know.
Starting point is 00:25:25 No, he's the one to make decisions. He makes the decision. Yeah, but, okay. But he didn't even like. Did he, did he look down at the ground or did he make eye contact? Because I wanted to. I said, hey, T.C. And he said, hey, Matt. And that was it. Okay. He knows. He better know. I mean, yeah. He knows everything, everybody on that team. Like, he's the one that makes personal decision. But I respected him so much, right? And so that hurt. And I loved playing under him because everybody that I knew that had played with him in New York had great things to say like the great he's a hard note coach he's he's old school but like
Starting point is 00:25:56 you love to you run through a brick wall for the dude and so I kind of lost a little bit of respect because like he didn't even like say nothing and I figured that hey because I'm the oldest dude on the team right oh dang yeah I'm he's grandpa yeah I'm I'm I'm the oldest dude on team and I know I've kind of been a guy that's been back and forth
Starting point is 00:26:16 on the squad and whatnot but I thought at least he'd say something, but he didn't. So I was a little man. TC didn't even like. But hey, there's still a chance you can play for a 19- right. He didn't even get me up or nothing. Right.
Starting point is 00:26:27 So now the season starts and you're thinking, okay, someone's going to call. You know, your agent has probably talked. No, I never, it's, I've been through before. I knew that in my position, there's only one dude on a team. So it's 32 guys. So 31 other teams, if, you know, what sucks is someone has to get hurt essentially. Which is terrible.
Starting point is 00:26:45 Yeah. It's terrible to think. In the past two seasons, that's how I've been re-signed. It's someone got hurt. It just will happen to be in Jacksonville. So, I mean, this is a terrible thing to say, but does a little bit of you deep down, like, when you watch football? Don't ask it. Don't ask you.
Starting point is 00:27:01 You hoping somebody gets hurt? No, do you check the injury report every Sunday? I mean, I do. That's what I'm asking. I do check because if something does happen, typically on a Monday is when I'd find out if a team's going to bring me in. So, like, last week I went to Houston. The Texans brought me in for a workout. and their guy was kind of banged up in the game before.
Starting point is 00:27:21 Yeah, he was sucking, dude. He was throwing it left, right, all over the place, dude. But he got a little banged up. And so, and then nothing came. No, they worked out, and it was just kind of like a precautionary thing. Like, they bring in guys to see who's in shape and who's ready to roll if, like, their dude, like, can't go no more. You ready to roll?
Starting point is 00:27:37 Yeah, absolutely. You see me shotgun on that beer? Well, dude, and he's still training. He's always ready to roll. Then if you follow him on Twitter or Instagram. He's always. Yeah. But I'm doing it.
Starting point is 00:27:46 doing real estate now? Of course you are. Coach, you have an amazing life outside of football. That's why you were one of the smarter NFL players. Dude, you're so busy outside of the NFL. I mean, you just flowed right into it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:59 I mean, this is the same. temporary. I mean, you know the NFL's short. It is. Absolutely. And I'm 34 and I've been lucky to play a kids game this long. So like, absolutely, there's a lot of blessings. But deep down, you still want to play.
Starting point is 00:28:10 That's why I was to say deep down, you still want to play. And me and my fiancee have had those hard hitting, you know, tough conversations, about like when? When is it time to kind of hang it up? And I told her this year like my heart still wants to play and I can do it and I'm physically in shape. I'm ready to roll. Now it's hard leaving her, right?
Starting point is 00:28:29 Yeah. But, you know, there's sacrifices on both ends, you know, and so she's my number one cheerleader. Yeah, yeah, the captain. And, you know, if it comes, it's hard, but she's going to support me and we're going to make it happen. But. Question. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:44 Are you a football fan? Like, are you watching on? Sundays? Yeah, for sure. Yeah, I watch Colts games. No, coach. He's watching. No, no, no, because some people, once you're in the game, you lose that fandom.
Starting point is 00:28:53 Like, you don't, you don't watch as much because you're in it and you don't. There's times where I don't watch, I mean, I have it on the TV. Did you watch last night's Thursday night at football game? No, I was driving down here in Nashville to be on this podcast this morning. I mean, it was kind of, yeah, exactly. It's a boring game. He's busy, dude. He doesn't want to watch the crappers, dude.
Starting point is 00:29:11 He doesn't want to watch the, you know, when it's going to be ball. I just, so you watch the Colts. Do you? Okay. Since you got cut from the Jaguars, do you cheer against them? No, I want them to be great. I want them to win. I love Minchu coming in and being a baller and dominating. I mean, they've had kind of a rough year. They've only won two games. Did you know Menchu? Yeah. Yeah, he's awesome.
Starting point is 00:29:36 So when he took over, when Foles gets hurt, are you thinking like, oh man, this is good? He can really – he had a rough preseason, and it's not a knock on him. It's just the fact that when he's – you have a guy playing with the third string O line, running backs, receivers, you can't really can't really shine because they don't have the studs around you, right? Now that he's playing with the ones, he's a good quarterback, obviously, and putting up record-breaking numbers and Minchinia's rolling and all that kind of stuff, and it's awesome to see him step up and just ball out. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:08 As a six-round pick. What about Jaylon Ramsey? Is he just a- Did you see him roll up with the Brinks truck? Dude, yeah. That was a-old. That was a ball and move. That was a ball and move.
Starting point is 00:30:18 But is he just a, I mean, God, get this guy off my team? No. Best, probably the best athlete I've ever been around. Wow. Yeah. You want him on your team. But this is, I love this conversation because what he, lunchbox, gets from the media and social media and videos and what everyone else is talking about, you hate the dude. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:30:39 No, no, I don't hate the dude. No, lunchbox, let me finish. Everyone hates on you on social media, but you're one of the greatest guys ever met. See what I'm saying? I don't hate Jalen Ramsey. I love the Brink's truck. Like when he brought the Brink truck to a training camp or whatever, I on this pocket, I said that was an awesome, like, entrance baller.
Starting point is 00:30:58 Yeah. Now, Antonio Brown is the exact. I'm like, this dude's an idiot. Like, I think he's an idiot and I don't think anybody wants to be around him. Yeah. I mean, I don't think Jalen Ramsey's on that level. Of being what? But being Antonio Brown annoying and causing distractions.
Starting point is 00:31:12 I think Antonio Brown is a different meaning now. plays. Like, he plays hard and he played. Antonio Brown is still just like filming in the locker room and just causing distractions that are unnecessary. Ramsey, he just wants to get paid. He wants his contract. And when he's there, he's playing. Yeah, I agree. And so
Starting point is 00:31:28 I don't put them on the same level. I feel like you're backing up from your statements whenever no one's around. I get it. No, I've always said. So what has he been saying? Well, I said I love Ramsey. No, he has opinions on a lot of these players. Like, he's going to talk about KD in a minute. Like, he has
Starting point is 00:31:44 these opinions of players based on what he sees and what he reads. Well, that's what you get it. Right. But in reality, like, we don't know these dudes. We don't know. Nobody knows you. Nobody knows us. Yeah. But they think they do. Touch, they know us. Let's be wrong. No, like, he just said about lunchbox. Like, this is one of the sweetest dudes ever. Yeah, some people hate on him because he has strong opinions. But it's not the case. The same with a lot of these athletes. We don't know these dudes.
Starting point is 00:32:09 But I went to, when I was no longer part of the Jack's team, I went to Twitter and I said, Listen, you do not let Jalen Ramsey go. Oh, I saw you say that. He's a generational player. He's a generational player. Sort of like the Raiders with Khalil Mack. Absolutely. Players like that, you don't let go.
Starting point is 00:32:28 You do not let go. Coach. Oh, I have a question. Yeah, go ahead. Hey, you said when the indie fans turned on, what's his name? Luck. Luck. You said that you pay for season tickets.
Starting point is 00:32:38 Did you have to pay for any season tickets? Yeah, I got some. Hey. Hey, brother. It's funny. He went on a lot. limb and he said that he would pay for any season ticket holder if they wanted to get rid of the tickets because luck left the team or whatever it was just it was disgusting what the colts
Starting point is 00:32:52 he went on a limb dude i i found out about this on sports on watching the game it was on the crawl on the ball up it said it on the crawl on the crawl on the call it was matt overton tweets this and i was like holy i took a picture and said to you're like baller dude and then the sad part is he gets cut like a week later and it's like oh i still got to pay for these yeah but what you're doing is a great thing you're doing a great thing you're doing a great thing. But what the Colts fans did, Coach, I was just... Those are sports fans for you. No, no. Absolutely. Those are just in, those are just idiots. Coach, they had a couple beers. Yeah, there was that,
Starting point is 00:33:27 listen, it's the third quarter of like the third preseason game of the season, right? So, you probably have 30,000 fans there, right? Jacoby's not even playing. All the third stringers are playing. Right. Guys are on the bubble, right? luck is on the sideline in shorts like this is when the ankle issue was like you know we don't know his timeline we're hoping he's back for week one he did a he did a on-field workout pregame which went viral because everyone was like oh he looks good you know like he looks strong and the dude is probably in the best shape of his life right so for the news to break third quarter of a meaningless
Starting point is 00:34:06 game when people probably just go there to drink right and he's physically on the sideline right and everyone's like is this a joke like is Adam Schaefter like just pulling one here to get hacked or whatever the deal is and then I mean the whole place just went like bonkers yeah booing them
Starting point is 00:34:25 and all this kind of stuff and like I mean it's not a confusion right I mean I don't blame the fans for reacting that way because if I was a normal fan I'd probably be pissed too the dude's on the sideline he retires did you think it was the wrong time to send that do you think sheffter should have never The only person to blame here is Schaefter.
Starting point is 00:34:44 Like he knew that was going to cause something. Yeah, but somebody in the inner circle, someone in the trust nest should be, you know, the rat needs to be exposed. Exactly. There was a-shirt had it auto set to report later. It actually went off early. He does it during the damn game. He had the Eastern time zone. Coach, he's pretty respected.
Starting point is 00:35:03 Like, everybody. Oh, and he has his finger on the pulse of everything, right? Like, he knows what's going on. But it also is a preseason game who gives a rip. Yeah, but he's on the... He's on the sideline. The last time him walking off the field is him getting booed and like that and rushed off the field. That sucks.
Starting point is 00:35:18 Oh, gosh. You know, and then watching the interview, you could obviously see how distraught and, like, mentally worn out luck was, right? And I had no idea that it was that bad, you know, but I played with the guy for five years, and the dude... The dude went through a car accident every single Sunday. So I love the dude to respect him, and he's an awesome, incredible player, and I think the decision to walk away... You talk to him? Since? No.
Starting point is 00:35:41 Oh, Coach, I wanted to tell us the secret. He's showing on the couch. He's got a beer belly now? Their neighbors, do they live out by the lake with each other. They're sitting on their luncheon. Remember those days? I wish, man. But everything I've heard is he's in good.
Starting point is 00:35:51 He's still at the facility, like helping Brissette out. And Brissette looks good. Brissette's great. As a Colts organization, do you think they did that on purpose to make Andrew feel bad? I hope not. They put it out at that point? I don't, I don't know. All I knew.
Starting point is 00:36:10 All I know is that they already had a scheduled media day Sunday. It was supposed to be Sunday afternoon or something like that. So what's the theory that the Colts let Adam Shepter know at that time? Someone in the circle of days in advance. This was known about a week ahead. Everybody in the Colts knew days beforehand. Right. So it just leaked.
Starting point is 00:36:31 And then Shepter's like, well, screw it. I'm going to send out my tweet. It got to Word got to Shepter. Hey, this is about to leak early. And Shepter's like, screw it. I'm sending out the tweet. I'm dropping the bomb right now. Is that true?
Starting point is 00:36:40 I'm the NFL guy, mother, fucker. Is that? I got to be on top of this. Is that true? No, the Colts knew days in advance. I have an inside person told me. But they never released it. No, but there's word.
Starting point is 00:36:51 Did Gorman tell you? Yeah. Someone inside that organization leaked it to Schefter. That's what happens. Someone in the organization. Someone in the trust circle. Went to Sheffter and said, hey, Andrew Luxe's retiring. You're good to go?
Starting point is 00:37:04 Because don't you have to tell Adam, Shep, you're good to go? Like, doesn't he have to have that respect for them? And they have to have that respect for him. Well, that's why he got so much backlash. Like, dude, there's got to be some integrity here. Like, we understand that you break news. I know, but somebody had to have told him like, dude, you're good to go. I think someone has to tell him, hey.
Starting point is 00:37:21 Because he would be an idiot to be like, oh, you're just telling me and I can send it whatever. I'm going to do it right now during this game. Well, I think they say someone in the organization probably tell, in my opinion, this is what happens. Whenever you have breaking news, you want to get out there, you say, hey, you release it when you want, but don't associate me with it. Yeah. And then Schaefter's like, well, I've got to be the first one to. That's why they always say per source. You know, it's like per source.
Starting point is 00:37:43 You know, like, Schepter probably knew days in advance too that this was about to happen on Sunday. But he wants to go viral with the news and be the man to do it and he did it. You know, that's his job. He really is like the insider, right? Yeah. Now, it's like, where's the integrity? Do you give the man the opportunity to at least exit the field after the game? Yes.
Starting point is 00:38:04 You know, he deserves that. You could have done it right after the game. Absolutely. Right after the game. Yeah. No need to do it when he's. stand on the sideline. So question away from this.
Starting point is 00:38:12 Are you guys ready to move on? Yeah, I'm ready to move on. I've always wondered, after the game, when everyone starts hugging each other and meeting each other from different teams, like, what, who are you looking for? Do you go for like, I go straight to the kicker, punner snapper? Okay. Yeah, that's like, you never go to Brady? I mean, I'll probably just tap him on the back and just walk by.
Starting point is 00:38:31 Yeah, yeah, yeah, just touch him, touch him a little bit. So you have touched Brady? Oh, yeah. Yes. Have you ever touched his butt? That's awesome. No, but I, specialists go straight to the special. That's just, that's just the unwritten law of like respect.
Starting point is 00:38:47 Coach goes to coach. Wide receiver goes to wide receiver. You go to your boys and you kind of mingle at the 50-yard line, see who you went to school with. I went to a school that has nobody in NFL. So like I'm, okay. So it legitimately is like I haven't, dude, I haven't seen you in like a couple years. Former teammates, you know, all that kind of stuff. And then, and then we do like, you know, we do a prayer circle too.
Starting point is 00:39:07 So that's kind of a thing at the end. Yeah, I've seen you. The chicks like that, dude. Every time my girl's like, the prayer circle. Yeah, she's like, those guys are awesome. That's why they do it. Obviously, they do it for the chicks, you're just telling you, dude. But yeah, to answer your question, we go out there, we go straight to the kicker-prone and snapper.
Starting point is 00:39:25 Former teammates, former college teammates, just your boys. Yeah, you know, and what do y'all tell each other? I don't know. A lot of guys jersey swap. When did that become a thing? Because it's just recent. Much Fox hates it. No, no.
Starting point is 00:39:39 Who does it? NBA. Who was the first thing? Oh, Dwayne Wade, right? Yeah. He gave a jersey to every single person in the NBA, basically. Kobe did too, right? Well, I don't mind when you're a superstar, but when Dwayne Wade's trading jerseys,
Starting point is 00:39:53 what if he gives his dirty sweatshirt after every show? The number three guy off the bench. I'm like, get out of here. Like, that's just dumb. So I don't know. So, because you're charged per jersey. So if you, yeah, and some teams have certain rules saying, like, if you are going to give you a jersey away after that, you let us know.
Starting point is 00:40:07 If not, you were going to find you. But how? Some guys don't have... NFL.com, like, prices. $5.99. 350 a jersey. They have to get on NFL.com and order. $350 a jersey?
Starting point is 00:40:17 What on earth? Can't you just buy one then on NFL.com? Overton. But there's some guys that don't have reserved jerseys. Right. So you put your guys in a tough spot like, hey, man, our third string cornerback just gave away his jersey. We don't have one for next week.
Starting point is 00:40:34 We need to go get one, right? So, like, Peyton Manning. Peyton Manning was always known for, he would wear a jersey pregame, and he would always give his pregame jersey away and come out in a fresh jersey for the game. Okay. So all the signed jersey stuff was always a pre-game, game-worn jersey. Yes, and that's sort of like game used baseball.
Starting point is 00:40:54 Every pitch they throw it in the dirt, they throw it out so you can say, I got a World Series baseball. Exactly. I mean, it was in there for one pitch. Still cool. But I've jersey swapped. I swapped with Vinuterry, had to do that. I mean.
Starting point is 00:41:05 Oh, that's, okay. That's cool. And then Luke Rhodes, the snapper for the cold. now we've jersey swapped and then uh and with those jerseys do you frame them put them up in your house or do you just put them in a box frame them for sure okay yeah yeah yeah and then when i went to the pro bowl i swapped with goshowski and the specialist there for their pro bowl so that's cool too but so you don't have your own pro bowl jersey no i do but i swapped i swapped i swapped game jerseys i gave a colts jersey to goshowski goes hey coach i got a question was something we
Starting point is 00:41:35 did a couple weeks ago maybe lunchbox did a would you rather and i'm This is a good one for you. Would you rather be a kicker or a punter? A punter. 100%. Yeah, that's what I said. Yeah. You don't want the pressure?
Starting point is 00:41:47 You think I've got to play like five times a game. Well, a kicker, right, there's way more pressure on a kicker because there's points on the line every single time, right? And I just think it's, to be honest with it, I think it would be cooler to be a punter. Huh. You'd be the punter and holder. Yeah. Which is a huge task. The holder.
Starting point is 00:42:03 Oh, the holder is, no, that is so stressful. Yeah, yeah. I mean. Definitely a punter because I feel like you can just like, if you'd be a punter. if you shank one it's all good it's it is what it is oh well yeah
Starting point is 00:42:13 like you get pissed you move on no one remembers that for five seconds yeah and then a double doink I mean they'll remember that for two years we don't need to get on the double
Starting point is 00:42:22 doink because that's my boy man okay okay dude if you would have been if you would have been snapping he wouldn't a double doink you're right hell yeah but here's my thing
Starting point is 00:42:31 here's my thing I brought in I'm like they why do they keep calling him double doink like it's just a rude term that all these announcers anytime his face is on the screen. Because he's kicking for the Titans now.
Starting point is 00:42:41 Of course. So they call him that out here? There is. Double doink. Oh my gosh. Every time he shows up on TV. There's double doink. Okay.
Starting point is 00:42:47 It's the same reason they call Mark Sanchez butt fumble. I mean, they even brought it up on Monday night football when he's not even playing. It's rude. Oh, you know, it's like butt fumble. You know, I remember that play? Well, it's like my boy, Colt Anderson and Griffville England. They're going to be known for the worst NFL play in history. They just talked about it.
Starting point is 00:43:03 It was like the four-year anniversary for the four-year anniversary for the fake punt that we ran against with New England. Well. Well, okay. You know, and those two guys get, they get, you know, exposed every year. Like, oh, this is the fifth year anniversary for the worst NFL play in history. And they show it, it's like, you know, it sucks. But if I was, if I was Parky, double doint, double doint, I would trademark the heck out of that.
Starting point is 00:43:27 And I would turn it into an awesome thing because people would buy, people would certainly buy a double doint t-shirt. Right. Absolutely they would. Especially Packer fans, Eagles fans, because it. let the Eagles go on in the playoffs. Bears fans are not going to buy it. Just turning it into a positive thing. But I'm just saying, as a Bears fan, I'm not buying a double-doin t-shirt
Starting point is 00:43:44 because it's going to remind me of us losing to the damn Eagles in the playoffs. I'm not buying it. What's he like? He's a great kid. Tell me, Parky. He was in the Colt. He was with us of the Colts, 2013, 14 or something. And he had an awesome preseason.
Starting point is 00:43:59 Obviously, you're not going to beat out Venetary. And they ended up trading him to the Eagles that year. And he was a pro bowler that year. People don't remember that. People do not remember he was a pro bowl. For Philly. I don't remember him. Tough place to kick.
Starting point is 00:44:13 And then he went and signed a great deal with Miami, you know, and then signed another great deal with Chicago because he had another great year. Wow. He's a good kicker. Chicago is just a tough place to play. It's a plus tough place to kick. It's called the Windy City. The ball hit a finger, folks.
Starting point is 00:44:27 Let's not forget that. You're right. The ball hit a finger. And it hit a couple posts. Yeah. You know, so I mean like in what. the coach naggy has you know
Starting point is 00:44:40 Pinero has done a good job Eddie Panero has done a really good job he's composed and my inside source he didn't know of the situation prior so he didn't know about Parky he didn't know the significance of the 43 yard right hash kick
Starting point is 00:44:56 when they made these kickers do it every single day in practice he didn't know the significance of that kick he was like from my source he was they were made these kickers and tryouts They had a kick. Oh, they had like 12 kickers in there through the off season. So he didn't know. He had, it's like, coach, why do you keep making me kick these 43 yards from the right hash?
Starting point is 00:45:15 And he's like, are you serious? Like, you don't know like why we're doing this? No. What's the deal? It's like because double doink. Yeah, double doink missed it from the 43 yard, right hash. Yeah, that was a freak accident. I know.
Starting point is 00:45:29 But my point is that they have blown it up into such a big deal. It's not a big deal, right? Yes. And you have tainted that position for the rest. So whoever was going to fill that, whether Robbie Gould came out from the 90s and. That's the dumbest move we made is getting Robbie Gold anyway. We didn't want to pay him originally and we let him go. And then we've been going through kickers because we had one of the best in the NFL and we think, oh, he's not worth it.
Starting point is 00:45:54 It's hard to find a kicker. That's why the Patriots. That's why the Colts, you don't see them switching kickers every year. They find one. They just got Nuget. Because I are. Because I are. Facts.
Starting point is 00:46:05 Yeah. Because I are. But this is my debate. When people get pissed off that a team drafts a kicker, punter, or snapper in the fifth or six round. How pissed do you get when they don't? They sign these people and they keep missing. They got to turn over kickers. Well, my argument is people are like, why do you draft a specialist?
Starting point is 00:46:20 Listen, because that person has a great potential to be there for the next 10 to 15 years. When a cornerback, running back, low lineman probably won't make the team. That's what people don't understand. A lot of those draft picks are wasted. Like Sebastian Janakowski, second round pick or first whatever he was. That was before all the cheeseburgers though. Dude, he's got to be crushing beers somewhere right now. He's living life in Jacksonville.
Starting point is 00:46:43 He lives in Jacksonville. Does he really? Yeah, yeah. Smart. But I think he was a first round pick. I believe so. But people looking back, are you going to complain that you drafted a kick? Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:52 The dude. That was the dude. Yeah, right? You got 20 years out of them. If you draft someone else, they're probably in the league maybe three years, four years, five years, and they can be out. A lot of first round picks are washes. But let's move on from the NFL.
Starting point is 00:47:03 Let's talk Matt over and let's talk basketball. Oh, well, yeah. Kevin is all my favorite, my favorite topic. Do you watch basketball? No. Have you ever talked tennis before, Matt? You don't watch basketball at all? No, the NBA is the worst.
Starting point is 00:47:14 No, I'm not going to watch that. Whatever even championships? I don't know. You'd watch the playoffs, right? Maybe if Golden States in it because I'm from the Bay Area. If the Pacers are playing well, I'll watch that. Pacers are good. It's just such a long season coach.
Starting point is 00:47:27 Like baseball. I'm not going to watch 162 games. You don't watch baseball? No. Do you like the postseason in baseball? Sure. It's fine. It's all right. It's average. So you just watch football and that's it. That's what I'm saying. Yeah, because every week counts, coach. Every week counts. College football. You can't lose one game.
Starting point is 00:47:47 No, you can lose one game. Maybe if you're Alabama. Now that you have playoffs, you can lose one game. Yeah, but you can't be Michigan or a team that's a top 10 team. My thing with college football, here's my problem with college football. There we go. is they don't play anybody. I hate games. Like, they just play these, like, they play nobody a lot of the times.
Starting point is 00:48:08 Like, Clemson in the preseason, you know, that you play Wofford State and the Mexico State. It's just terrible. Like, I wish we just, like in the, like, before non-conference, Alabama played Clemson. You know, that's your playoff game, though. Okay. That's, you got to save that. No. You can't blow that in the first week.
Starting point is 00:48:30 What's a load right away? is going to do after that. I give LSU and Texas credit because they made a home and home. So, LSU went to Texas issue. Oregon played Auburn first game of the year. Those are good. But then the next week, they go and play. Little sisters of the poor.
Starting point is 00:48:44 And it's like, this is so stupid. Whose little sisters of the poor? They're good. But then, hey, on the flip side of it, on the flip side of it, I mean, you got teams like Georgia State coming in and smack in Tennessee. Like, I mean. Exactly. Great point, coach.
Starting point is 00:48:56 I mean, hey, that's pretty cool. App State back in the day beating Michigan. App State, still good. I mean, that's a legendary game. Take the plus 35. I get it. I get it. I just giving Corey Lynch shout out, blocking the field goal, taking it to the house.
Starting point is 00:49:08 And the thing, too, is they can't predict how good anyone's going to be, so they can't schedule these games out. I mean, and it's a moneymaker for the small school. Sure. But they really should aim to have five really good games a week. Well, my problem is. They really should, but it's hard. Listen, I know it's hard to predict who's going to be good, but you know New Mexico State of the Valley is not going to be good. So don't put them on your damn schedule.
Starting point is 00:49:31 Like, just don't put them on the schedule. Those are the moneymakers, like Matt just said, though. Yeah, but if you... My problem. My problem. Nick Saving gets mad when students don't come or they leave early because, yeah, you're playing the little sisters of the damn poor. That's why they don't want to sit there.
Starting point is 00:49:44 Yeah, it's 40 nothing at half time. I get it. I don't like how Notre Dame and these other schools don't have a conference. That's what they cherry put through it. But at least Notre Dame plays tough schedule. They go to Georgia. They play USC every year. That's right.
Starting point is 00:49:56 They play Michigan. You're going to go outside them. inside and mouse at him I'm going to go I'm going to go go I mean it's taking to Notre Dame and Michigan this weekend I mean this weekend
Starting point is 00:50:08 college football is good because you have LSU Auburn you have Michigan State Penn State Yeah You have Arkansas Alabama Stop You have Ohio State
Starting point is 00:50:19 And Wisconsin Yeah Big games yeah Big games this weekend Ohio State and Wisconsin What's the line on that one 13 and a half or 14 Wow
Starting point is 00:50:28 Give me the Buckeyes a conference game what would the line have been if Wisconsin did not lose to? Exactly it had been like seven. Exactly it had been five six and a half yeah I was pulling for Wisconsin I thought they were going to run a table but Ohio State I think they might
Starting point is 00:50:43 be the team to win this year I I would be the one I was saying if it's not Alabama or Clemson it's going to be them I think they might have a good chance I said Ohio State Wisconsin that's all that matters in the big 10 and then last week I'm like okay it's only Ohio State Ohio State to me watching college football is the best
Starting point is 00:50:59 team in the country. Number two is LSU. Because LSU's actually played someone so I can kind of tell like, I watch him, I'm like, okay. You're going to take LSU over Oklahoma? Yeah. Who's the who's the Hysman frontrunner right now? Burrow. It's got to be Brussels. Or what's his name? Joe Burrow. Yeah. From LSU, the quarterback. Oh.
Starting point is 00:51:19 So Jalen Hertz isn't? No. He's good, but I don't know if he's Joe Burrow good, like in the Hizman reason. So here, thank you for bringing up the Hizman. there was a guy that bet $50 when Joe Burrow was $200 to 1 odds to win the Heisman trophy. Okay. So the casino just offered him $3,800 to cash out now. Said, here, dude, we'll just pay you $3,800. This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. Would you take the $3,800 or are you going to let it roll?
Starting point is 00:51:47 It's $50. Let it ride. What was the line? How much was he going to win? He's going to win 10K. Yeah, you're right, though, with Jalen Hurd, so he's number two. Burroughs 1, Hertz is right behind him in the frontrunner favorite. So if he was a...
Starting point is 00:51:58 Two is third. But two ain't going to win. He's injured. He's injured. You can't accept the Heisman injured? How long is his injury? I mean, is he? Well, he's going to, I think he's going to be back for the LSU game.
Starting point is 00:52:08 Yeah. Oh, Sam Ellinger, 75 to 1. Sam Ellinger is not even going to. So is this guy going to take the cash out right now? No, he's turned down their offer. Good for him. Why would you turn that down? Right.
Starting point is 00:52:19 Why would you take it? It's $50. At $50. And he's the leading candidate. So. Yeah. Let it right out. But he loses one game coach.
Starting point is 00:52:26 That's the problem. That's going to be awkward. Tua and Jalen both on the Heisman stage in New York. No, what I want is I want Oklahoma to play Alabama in the playoff. That's what I want. Oh, hell yeah. And I'm rooting for Jalen. Oh, 100%.
Starting point is 00:52:41 100%. I'm cheering for Jalen. Are you kidding me? They did him wrong. They did him wrong. Yeah, they did. I don't know if they did him wrong. Savian did him a year?
Starting point is 00:52:51 Yeah, you did. David did him wrong. No, no, no. Well, they did do him wrong that whole offseason because he said, I'm not going to name a starter, even though we knew after that national championship, Tula was going to be the starter. But he kept saying in the media and probably at practice, oh, it's a battle. It's a battle because he wanted Jalen to stay around.
Starting point is 00:53:06 But Jalen, I thought, handled everything so beautifully. What does suck, though, is that you do see a different Jalen in Oklahoma. He's got a little edge to him. For sure. Something you didn't see in his personality in Bama. Yeah. And that is cool. He's a little angry.
Starting point is 00:53:21 Great call. He took a team photo with the cheerlears off the big one against who they beat Texas. Love it. That's swag. I like Jalen. And I think maybe he realized, you know what, if I want to be good enough, I got to learn to throw the ball better. Or Saban didn't trust him throwing the ball and he was good all along. But I think he took that time away when he went to, hey, you know what?
Starting point is 00:53:44 If I'm going to be a quarterback, I got to learn to throw the ball. I'm under the impression that playing for Sabin's probably pretty stressful. Yes. But I look at Tua and he lets Tua throw the ball. So he knows Tua can throw it. So I wonder if Jalen just wasn't. I never thought Jaylin was good at throwing, but I mean, they didn't really let him air it out like they do now. Coach, Oklahoma's put two highs and trophy winners in the row.
Starting point is 00:54:03 Love it. Like, this could easily be the third. Could. In a row. Baylor or Baker, who is the second one? Tyler Murray. Murray and then now Jaylen hurts. Number one overall picks too.
Starting point is 00:54:15 Wow. Now, Jaylon's probably not going to be a number one over. No, but they're talking about him first round in the NFL track. Where are Jackson? Phil. Coach, Miami needs a quarterback. No, they're tanking for. He didn't see a quarterback too.
Starting point is 00:54:27 Tight. Okay. Who all needs a quarterback? They got Tannahill, dude. Stop. He's not the long. He's one and O is the starter right now. He is.
Starting point is 00:54:34 Yeah, he's not the long-term solution. Tampa Bay needs a quarterback. Cincinnati, Tennessee, Chicago. Oh gosh, the Saints. No, they got fridge water. But I mean, yeah, look at the quarterbacks gone. I mean, there is a lot of teams that need quarterbacks.
Starting point is 00:54:49 Do you look at the Falcons? I would get rid of Matt Ryan. I'd get rid of them. Get out of here. I would even I would trade Julio I would I would trade Philip Rivers too
Starting point is 00:54:59 Oh he's done It's over I think he'll retire I think he's one of the I mean he just He's 37 man He can't get over the He can't win the big games
Starting point is 00:55:08 And he's like 37 years old It's just not going to get any bad And he's done an awkward arm motion Hey Matt Who do you have winning the Super Bowl There it is There it is Of course
Starting point is 00:55:19 I mean This is the best they've looked Ever ever It's stupid. No, they've played the Jets and the Dolphins and the Bengals. The beat up Steelers and that kind of stuff. So I, it'll be interesting.
Starting point is 00:55:35 I don't know who, did they have the Ravens at all or Casey? They play Casey. Okay. I don't know if they put. We don't need to bring pits in here for this one. No, no, no, no. Casey is talking about Mahomes may play this weekend. Not this week.
Starting point is 00:55:47 He dislocated his kneecap. That would be the stupidest thing ever. No, they're not saying this week. He's practicing. He is practicing, and they are saying next week. He did not look good in the video I saw on. He was still limping, for sure. Like, I just think it's so dumb.
Starting point is 00:56:01 So dumb. Yeah. Okay, you want to talk about Kevin Durant real quick, just so we can talk about this? What's the Kevin Durant? I mean, he's not even playing. Let's talk about the first week of basketball. Send out a tweet. And he said, can we talk?
Starting point is 00:56:15 What? What do you want to talk about? I think World Series would be more important. He had a burner account, y'all. No, he's on a podcast for the Players Tribune. and they said name your all-time starting five with the players you've played with. And he put Sir Jabaka, Draymond Green, hell yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:32 Himself, James Harden and Kyrie Irving. So he put himself in the list. Is that the argument here? No. What would he upset about? Where is Steph Curry? Oh. Where Steph Curry is better than Kyrie Irving.
Starting point is 00:56:44 He's better than Hardin. I mean, get like, is he bitter because Steph Curry got all the love when he was in Golden State? and Steph Curry gets all the love. So I'm from the Bay Area, so I get a little more of like the local media attention. And it's always been Steph's team, right? That's what I'm saying. But KD. Didn't like that.
Starting point is 00:57:06 Okay, Katie carried that team, right? I agree with you. Same with the show. Excuse me? I don't understand this point. He's in Ray carries the show. But he, coach. You could argue that they probably would have had a good shot to win a final.
Starting point is 00:57:22 if KD wasn't hurt, right? Oh, 100%. What he did before he ruptured his Achilles was stupid, right? Yes. So I think he was never, and I'm going to compare, I'm going to go out on a limb a little bit here
Starting point is 00:57:34 and kind of compare the situation with Nick Fools and the Eagles. All right. Okay. Now, Nick Foles was never intentionally going to be, they didn't acquire Nick Foles to be like the dude that's going to take his team next level, right? Because the Eagles have never won prior to him getting there.
Starting point is 00:57:51 So Katie came into a, situation where Katie wanted to win, right? Katie wanted a ring. That's the reason why he went to gold. Oh, absolutely. Crown his eyes. So now after the fact, Golden State has a ring. Eagles have a ring.
Starting point is 00:58:04 Now you kind of compare the Nick Full situation with Katie, right? How they're respected, right? I heard from a very reliable source that when they went to the Super Bowl, so he's Super Bowl MVP, right? Yeah. Came off the bench and filled in for, uh, uh, Wentz, went, and did an incredible job, right? And he was MVP? Yes. Oh my God. He played lights out. Yes. Against who? Tom. Tom Brady. You didn't know that. You didn't know that. I didn't know that who's who or the what to us.
Starting point is 00:58:33 So the Eagles, the Eagles always treated Wentz as their guy regardless, right? Even though Nick Fools won in their first Super Bowl and was Super Bowl MVP. So going into the offseason, he is now demoted to second string. they go to the Super Bowl Ring Ceremony who was all over the pamphlets and the itinerary and picture everywhere Wentz once There was not one photo of Nick Foles
Starting point is 00:59:01 holding up the trophy Super Bowl MVP mentioned nothing How awkward is that got to be right It's got to be awkward So you got to be a little bitter in that sense And Katie I mean
Starting point is 00:59:11 These comparisons are a little No no but I see what you're saying But I just think that's what I'm saying I say Katie is a bitter person Because Katie was the MVP as well Oh, yeah. Two time. But it's always been Steph's team. But it's still to me that he's just bitter.
Starting point is 00:59:25 That's why he's not putting Steph on this team. Probably so. It's a little childish. It's a little diva move. Yeah, yeah. He shouldn't have put himself on the list either. Oh. Oh, he's one of the best five he's played with. Yeah, but that wasn't the question. Like, right? I mean, he was asked like, who would you, what five would you assemble? Yeah. I just think you.
Starting point is 00:59:43 I see what you're saying. But I just think it's funny. You humble yourself and you don't put. Of course he put Kyrie because they're just teaming up and broken. Of course, he wants that brotherhood to be strong. Absolutely. And that's a good move. That's a power move. It's a power move.
Starting point is 00:59:55 And Kyrie's dope, though. He's not a team player. He's a cancer in the locker room. Better be a team player tonight. That cancer in the locker room right there. I love it. You better cover it. So he put Hardin and Westbrook in front of Steph.
Starting point is 01:00:11 No, he put Kyrie Irving, Hardin, Dremon, Green, and Sarge Abaka. So he didn't even put, he didn't even put. Clay Thompson, Steph Curry, Russell Westbrook. I mean, in him, yeah, so I, yeah, that's tough. That's a tough question, I think, to be able to, I know, but it's a little bitter Betty syndrome there. Yeah. On that.
Starting point is 01:00:30 He should have put Z on the list, you know what I'm saying? What? Big Zion, dog. He's never played with him, you idiot. You want to make a splash, baby? Put him on that damn list. Crown his ass. You guys are losing interest.
Starting point is 01:00:43 You guys are done. Yeah, absolutely. What the girls are doing on their phones is what our listeners are doing. Why do you slap the mic? That's pretty funny. It's been my thing the last couple of days. Because we've talked about if you want to crown their ass, crown their ass. Denny Green said that back in the day.
Starting point is 01:00:57 Eddie, here's the thing. So someone back in April. Would you rather? No, no. Someone back in April put $5,000 on the Astros to win the World Series. Seven to one odds. That was me. So if they win, you go in cash in for $40,000.
Starting point is 01:01:12 All right. What's the bank deal in? What's the deal or no deal? So there's this thing called Prop Swap, where you have these prop bank. you can sell the ticket. Oh, swap away. So the person put it up for sell. Someone last night paid $10,500 for it.
Starting point is 01:01:24 Absolutely. Give me $10,000. So he made $5,500 and the Astros may not even win the World Series. They will not win the World Series. It's over? In my eyes, it's over. It's over. And you know what, baby?
Starting point is 01:01:35 We got the Nationals plus one and a half tonight against Grinky. He's horrible. Grinky has been terrible this postseason. Terrible. But this is the game they got him for. Listen, they're in the World Series. Is this your pep talk? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:51 Because you ain't got no faith. Whatever you're saying has no faith back in it. Get them, David Ross. Get them, David Ross. Get their ass. Zach Grinke, you were acquired for this game right here. You don't expect Cole and Verlander to lose. Okay, so you're down 2-0. You're supposed to be one of the best pitchers in Major League Baseball.
Starting point is 01:02:10 You have a 6-ERA in this postseason. But if you want to earn your stripes, is where you put the Astros on your back and you go out and throw seven shutout innings and get the Astros back in the series. This is why they made the trade right here. Grinky has to step up tonight and listen, Zach Grinky is a weird dude, he's a quiet dude, and he's a- Why is he weird? I'm just- He looks weird. I don't really know anything about Grinky. I'm just saying it. But tonight, he is going to have all of the Nationals Park yelling at him. He's going to be on center stage and he's going to shut that stadium up.
Starting point is 01:02:48 And then he walks out of the room and leaves Grinke there and he's like, has no chance to get away. So what happened to the GM just got fired, huh? The assistant GM got fired because after they clinched the ALCS, they're in the locker room and there's some female reporters. And he turns to them and he says, aren't you glad we got OZuna? Aren't you glad we got OZuna now?
Starting point is 01:03:10 See, isn't it a good thing we traded for him? Azuna had to serve a, I think, 50-game suspension last year for domestic violence. So he directed that towards female reporters. So it was a very, you don't do that. Like it's saying, yeah, women you see, it's a good thing we got them. And boom, gone, fired. So like the videos came out recently or something? The women reported said.
Starting point is 01:03:35 Who's that? Read Ryan? Who said that? No, I don't know his name. You'll have to look it up. Just Google it. Assistant GM. and so
Starting point is 01:03:42 the women came out and said the mic almost fell off the mic just slapped the mic the women said that this happened and the Astros were like oh we don't think it did blah blah blah but doing some further investigating they found out that it was true
Starting point is 01:03:55 and so they let him go all right in closing join with me brothers amen amen it's called a day
Starting point is 01:04:05 anybody got any locks yeah you guys want to lock look this guy right here to my right he used to play for a team up an indie called the Colts. And they're welcoming a Broncos team who I picked to make the playoffs. Decimated team. Exactly.
Starting point is 01:04:19 Decimated team. They are folding up camp for the year. They just gave away one of their best players. Thank you very much. You just took my line. They traded away Emmanuel Sanders. Joe Flack was running for his life. They can't block anybody. Their defense didn't get any pressure on the quarterback. And with that Colts O line, you're not going to get
Starting point is 01:04:35 to Brissette. Marlon Max going to run left. Ty Yelton across the middle. We're going to hit Pascal down the line. down the sideline. And they're only having to give up six points. You're like a child in your bedroom. And I'll make, this is, this is another thing that's going to put in their favor. They're doing the color rush, which is never done, hardly ever.
Starting point is 01:04:55 The visitor or the home? No, no, the Colts are coming on in all blue. All blue. There you go. Did you ever go? No. Oh, never been done. We were so old school.
Starting point is 01:05:02 We never switched it up. Listen, guys. So you don't, the Colts are on a roll right now. They went to Kansas City, beat the Chiefs. Then they come home and they. they beat their division rival, the Texans. They're going to keep this bus rolling. Frank Reich is a top six head coach in the NFL in my eyes.
Starting point is 01:05:19 He is really good. He knows what he's doing. They're not going to be fat and happy. They are going to keep marching towards the playoffs. Everybody thought the ceiling was falling. The sky was falling. Andrew Luck retires. They said, don't worry.
Starting point is 01:05:31 We got percent. We believe in you. And we only have to give up six points to the giving up Broncos coming on the road. Give me the Colts minus six. at home, take it to the bank. Guys, I'm going to lock one up. We're going to go across the pond. We're going to go to England at noon, our time, locally,
Starting point is 01:05:49 here in America. Central time. Yes, noon. Guys, I love the Rams. They're minus 12 and a half. That's a couple touchdowns-ish. Minus 12 and a half. Go ahead and lock it up. Who are they playing? The bingles are trash. The bingles have a hard time tying their own
Starting point is 01:06:06 shoes. They can't complete a pass. Joe Mixing, he can get three yards. of care three yards on the whole game because the offensive line is trash Andy Dalton the red rifle I don't know if it's AJ Green playing no yeah he's playing on the I don't know I don't know if he's just putting that thing away over the season but they are god awful and who's going to be in their groove Jalen Ramsey Jalen Ramsey I mean they are going to he is going to lock down Tyler Boyd I love birthday weekend too I love Tyler Boyd but that's the number one wide receiver and here's another so he's now
Starting point is 01:06:41 rejoined his former teammate Dante Fowler. Last time Fowler was in London, he got arrested. So this is like his redemption game. Okay. You know, last year he got arrested. Oh, that's why the Jags got, that's why. That's why the Jags got, that's right. They're waiting for his ass.
Starting point is 01:06:56 They didn't want to pay the tab. They're not going to be in the club tonight, right? No clubs. And I think, I think Dante Fowler is going to have another three-set game. I love the Rams. He went against your lot. No, he took the right. No, no, I'm taking them out.
Starting point is 01:07:10 I'm just saying like... Coach, try and follow along. I don't know if the Bengals are in school. We're an hour and three minutes into the podcast. I'm sorry you're bored. I thought this was a fantastic. It was great. It was great.
Starting point is 01:07:20 But by us saying that it sped it up a little bit. Now, Eddie, do you have a door? I do. I do. You guys want to wait until Sunday? I don't have that time. I want to do it Saturday. Saturday morning 11 a.m.
Starting point is 01:07:32 Put all your money. And it's funny, Matt mentioned them today. Appalachian State. What the actual? Yeah. And it's during the Wisconsin. in Ohio State games, so you may have to go back and forth. Or maybe not even find it on TV.
Starting point is 01:07:44 Follow it on Yahoo Sports or something. ESPN3, guys. Make sure you have the app. Guys, they're playing South Alabama. So take them. App State minus 27. They're going to blow South Alabama out. Oh, my. That's easy money, guys. Did you just take App State because he mentioned them?
Starting point is 01:08:01 No, man, they've been good this year. And they're playing, who is the South Alabama? Who are these dudes? I love that when Vegas gives you a 27 line for a team that's that's going to blow them out by 50. Take the money. Shut the door. Wow. I mean, you just looked up App State's line because he mentioned App State earlier. Where is the game at? It's in Georgia. But here, or Alabama. But here's it. He has no idea. Here's the deal. If you want to double it up. What's App State's record? Let's just parlay it.
Starting point is 01:08:30 Let's just parlay it. Oh, screw. Let's do a parlay shut the door. But sore losers locks. This counts as two individual bets. No, no, no. Parlay it is one. All right. Cool. One bet. And I want it times two on my record. No, no. No, no. It's parlayed. Let's do it times three on my record.
Starting point is 01:08:44 No, no. If you miss it, it's minus one. If you get it right, it's plus one because you're saying parlay. You've got to bet them together. So you've got to win both to get it right. Right. But then I got to win something better than just one win. No.
Starting point is 01:08:56 Okay, then don't parlay. At least that wasn't confusing at all. Well, do separate then. But if you want a game that you can watch on TV, take Ohio State. They're favored by what? 14 and a half. Take it. It's not going to be close.
Starting point is 01:09:07 So your bets are the exact same. time and you could be cleaned out by 2 p.m. Correct. That gives you time to put more money in the bank. Banks are closed. Put more money in the bank if you lose those two games. You've got a bunch of games by the rest of the day. Listen, college football is good tomorrow. LSU, Auburn, get ready.
Starting point is 01:09:23 A sleeping game that you're sleeping on is TCU, Texas. It's going to be better than you think. Everybody thinks, oh, TCU's not very good. They're going to play Texas tight. Yeah, tease that down to 54. Can't wait for Wisconsin. Ohio State. That's early in the morning. You don't
Starting point is 01:09:38 to wait for it. You wake up and boom, let's turn it on the TV and let's go. Where's that game at? Ohio State. And Lunch's favorite is going to be there too. Oh, my favorite, Urban Freaking Meyer. Mr. Oh, I need to spend time with my family. Then he comes out this week. Yeah, I'd be interested in the Dallas Cowboys job. We don't want his ass. Oh, Mr. I got to go spend time with my family. He doesn't spend any damn time with his family. I think Urban Meyer would be a good NFL coach? No, I hate that guy. Wait, who asked him to be the Cowboys coach? No one. Right. So where did this question come up? I don't know.
Starting point is 01:10:08 Some stupid sports writer. Watch Harbaal will be the Dallas Cowboys coach next year. No, Harbaugh said he is not going to the NFL. He wrote a letter to the parents. Is he done in Michigan? No. Really? Because they're about to beat Notre Day in this weekend.
Starting point is 01:10:18 Where is that bad? That's a pretty even line coach. Is it? Michigan minus one. What's a Harbaugh's record against ring teams? Like Owen. Eight? Anytime you start with the first name, Owen.
Starting point is 01:10:31 Owen, not good. Wilson's not good. Owen's not good. Oh, Owen's good. And we owe in our. gratitude to these people that listen to this whole podcast because it was excellent. Matt Overton and your ladies that you brought with you, your fiance
Starting point is 01:10:43 and her friend. I think she went home. I think they're probably boring. I mean, she got on her phone within 20 minutes in the podcast. She works hard, man. Sarah, is this her name? Sarah. Sarah, how boring was this? She's a sports fan. She's avid. So she's... Oh, are you really? Hey, dude. And she's... It's her birthday
Starting point is 01:10:59 weekend. It is. Happy birthday. First time to Nashville to really experience Nashville. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday. birthday to you happy birthday dear Sarah happy birthday to you yeah should we take Sarah on the
Starting point is 01:11:16 the pedal tavern what's the one you like the one the hayrides oh my god that is the stupid you like hayrides no there's a tractor that has hay yeah with the DJ in the back and they hold up track it is the most annoying thing ever all of those Matt knows he he lived down there and that one is the most
Starting point is 01:11:35 annoying it is no no no they're all annoying where they stand on a bus so that doesn't have a top on and they're just standing there. And it's raining. It's going to be a little damp. It's supposed to be raining all week. Why do people do that? What's fun about it? Coach, there's no ones now they rip out the top of a fire truck. I'm dead serious. Really? Yes. Dude, you think it's a fire? It's an emergency vehicle? No, it's just kid partying, getting crap-faced on top of a fire truck. You know, your old white truck. They have those
Starting point is 01:11:58 jacked-up trucks now where they just put benches in the back and people sit in the back of a jacked-up truck. It's not even a theme. It's just a jacked-up truck. I love it. I think that's what it's called. Jacked-up truck. Yeah. I think I might do that this weekend. Put some benches in my truck. There you go. Hey, coach, where should I take Sarah on down lower Broadway?
Starting point is 01:12:13 Oh, I mean, dude, all the artist bars. You got to go to Aldeans, Florida Georgia line. Johnny Cash just opened his. You still working out of Aldeens? No, I haven't done that for about six miles. Johnny Cash. What happened, man? I got kicked out of there.
Starting point is 01:12:25 Really? Yeah, I got way too drunk. They booted me out. And that's because he was working for him. You got drunk on the job? No, it was just a different event, but I got bounced out. Really? Yeah, dude.
Starting point is 01:12:33 Yeah. Hey, are you single, Sarah? We'll put your picture on sore losers' Twitter. We'll finally do a date this weekend. Don't do that. She's like, no, no, no, no. We can take a picture, guys. Mo and Temple will play.
Starting point is 01:12:47 We're going to have a good time for her birthday. This is her first Nashville true experience. Yes, it'll be fun. We might go to the Titans game on Sunday. I'll be there. I'm not sure about that. You're going to be there? Yeah, me and Ray.
Starting point is 01:12:58 Who do you think Titans are Bucks on the way out? Bucks. Titans? I mean. Coming off a bye, I love Ariens as a coach. I love that, dude. I do too, but the quarterback's been throwing like... Winston is an idiot.
Starting point is 01:13:08 Interceptions of the game, so I'm going to go... Do you bet? Do you bet? No, no, no. No, no. I'm going to take Tanna Hill in the Titans. Yeah. Hey, good news. I heard that Ryan suckups coming off I are soon. That's a good. Double doink will be out of a job.
Starting point is 01:13:21 No, double doing. He's in a game winner. No, no, I don't care if he hits a game. He's going to win a game for the Titans. No, they're not because after this week, he's out because that's when suckup comes back. He's going to win a crucial game because that's going to win a crucial game because down the road, the Titans may need this win to even sniff the playoffs. They can win.
Starting point is 01:13:39 They just can't win by five and a half. Did you tease it up? Yeah. Okay, because I was going to say it was only two, two and a half. Hey, are the Cowboys going to go to the Super Bowl? No. Are they going to pay Dak? I mean, does that matter? I thought you wanted to play guys the end.
Starting point is 01:13:54 Does that matter? Does that matter right now? What do you think of Dak as a quarterback? He likes him. I always thought he was like average. There you go. 25 million a year, I think. That's what you pay him. The thing is, you're going to, the next quarterback to get a deal is going to get more than Jared Goss just got. You can't pay DAC that much.
Starting point is 01:14:10 But they're going to. Here's the problem. When you pay your quarterback that much, what happens? You stop winning because you can't afford. I mean, look, Seattle's doing it. They're winning. How much does Tom Brady make? He's like the 12.
Starting point is 01:14:22 How much does he make? I want a number. He's like 15 million years. 15 or something. He's down in the middle. He's like the middle tier. And that's how they're able to win because he's sacrifice. That's the key to winning.
Starting point is 01:14:34 They have cap space for other players again. Or you win when your quarterback's on a rookie year. Because once you pay them, you can't pay the other guys. Once the Falcons paid Matt Ryan, guess what? They don't have anybody to protect him because they can't afford anybody. Julio Jones, a full of gear. That's what I'm saying. That's why you got to get rid of Matt Ryan because you can't afford anybody else.
Starting point is 01:14:50 Get rid of him and start over. But as a player, Matt, don't you just want to make the money now that the iron's hot, man? Of course. Just give me the money now because I'm not going to be playing in 10 years. Of course. Yeah. No, I understand. I'm saying as a GM.
Starting point is 01:15:05 But you realize at one point Brady was like that give me the money right now. But now he's toned it back a little bit. Because he already has the money. And he looks all cool. He's not even the breadwinner. I only do it for $10 million. I just think that if they were to change some kind of structure in the whole CBA, they need to put the quarterbacks in their own category so that you don't.
Starting point is 01:15:23 It doesn't count against a cow. You don't screw the other players that deserve to be paid. I agree with you. That's an actually interesting theory that they could do that. That's for a whole other podcast, I don't know. Hey, man, we'll go two hours. Lunchtime, I'm doing that. Do you see how, do you know how frustrating it is?
Starting point is 01:15:39 Because they are ready to go after 10 minutes every day. 10 minutes. I could sit here and just talk to you about all this. Why don't you just bring pits in every time you guys can talk for three hours? They'll have a three-hour daily podcast. Oh, bro, that's not what I'm saying, brother. And then he yells at him. But we have an NFL player here that has insights and things.
Starting point is 01:15:54 Like, that's a great theory about how the quarterback should be separate. And I brought that up at a PA meeting with our reps. Where it really matters. And they pretty much. just looked at me like I was really, really dumb. I had nothing to offer it. I'm the long snapper, first of all. I'm asking a question in a meeting about salary cap and all that kind of stuff.
Starting point is 01:16:13 And the guys that we paid to make decisions are doing a horrible job at it. Horrible job. Do you think you should go outside? Because usually it's a lot of former players that are the head of the NFL Players Association and all that. Do you think you should go and just get smart people in the real world and bring them in? No, because our president is a lawyer, is an attorney. Okay. background and D. Marie Smith, he has no interest in players, you know, he's not a former player. He doesn't understand.
Starting point is 01:16:40 Yeah. I think that position needs to be held by somebody who's been in the game. Okay. Interesting. So whenever Tom Brady, Drew Brees. Peyton Manning? Yeah, those guys need to be up there. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, absolutely. Gene Upshaw was our former president. Referee? No. He was a, he's a. All-fame leader player. I'm thinking about Tess is Tori. Sorry.
Starting point is 01:17:06 All right. All right. Anything else coach him? No, because you're already annoyed and I get annoyed when you get annoyed. I got to go train, man. Yeah, you got to get out here. These girls miss brunch by an hour. Yeah, I need to, I need to be ready for a team, dude.
Starting point is 01:17:20 I need to get back on the field. Hey, hit us up on Twitter. At Soar Losers Show. Matt, give out your Twitter. Dude, follow me on Twitter, dude. Hey, he'll buy you season tickets. He doesn't even follow me on anything. I don't. I follow you on Twitter.
Starting point is 01:17:36 No, but the Soor Losers podcast doesn't. Why are you going to be? All three of us are on us. Because I know. We don't follow anyone. We need to talk to sore losers locks. Yeah, there's that. And also, our email. No, it's Matt Overton underscore LS. L.S is long sapper. We are the sore losers at gmail.com. Happy birthday, Sarah. Sorry for this. And Matt's fiance. She's wonderful lady. She's awesome. She had a great time.
Starting point is 01:17:59 Look at her as probably our average listener.
