Starting point is 00:00:34 Hey, I'm Dr. Maya Shunker, a cognitive scientist and hosts of the podcast, a slight change of plans, a show about who we are and who we become when life makes other plans. I wish that I hadn't resisted for so long the need to change. We have to be willing to live with a kind of uncertainty that none of us likes. You can have opinions. You can have like a strong, dance. And then there's your body having its own program. Listen to a slight change of plans on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you
Starting point is 00:01:11 get your podcasts. On a recent episode of the podcast Money and Wealth with John Hope Bryant, I sit down with Tiffany the budgetista Aliche to talk about what it really takes to take control of your money. What would that look like in our families if everyone was able to pass on wealth to the people when they're no longer here? We break down budgeting, financial discipline, and how to build real wealth, starting with the mindset shifts. Too many of us were never, ever taught. If you've ever felt you didn't get the memo on money, this conversation is for you to hear more.
Starting point is 00:01:44 Listen to Money and Wealth with John Hope Bryant from the Black Effect Network on the I'd Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. What's up guys? Welcome to Friday show. Morning studio. Morning. All right. Around the room. Give me your favorite story you found this morning. Amy. I saw this whole article about body doubling. And what that is, it's a strategy that may help people with ADHD stay focused and motivated while they're working. And as I read through the article, I was like, I've been practicing body doubling for years, but I didn't know that's what I was doing.
Starting point is 00:02:28 And now it makes sense why I always just want someone near me when I'm trying to complete a task. Oh, it's not being lonely. No. It's not being lonely at all. And you don't, like, if you were my, they say oftentimes sympathetic family members or friends will participate to be a body double. So what do I do as a body double then? You could, you could just be there with me next me. Like, let's say.
Starting point is 00:02:48 As you work, I just sit beside you. That sounds boring. It doesn't even have to be just work. Let's a pay. Say I have to hang a bunch of stuff up in my closet. You want me to come over and watch you hang stuff? I have to focus and hang them all up. Like, if you were just sitting in my closet with me.
Starting point is 00:03:00 You don't even have to. A real body double do the work. Right, right. And you can watch them do the work. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, it could be everything from work, work, school work to closet work. Lunchbox, what do you have? I got the baby shower for the ages.
Starting point is 00:03:12 This dude is having a baby shower because he got five chicks pregnant at the same time. But not the exact same time. They just all were pregnant. They're all due around the same time. That's crazy. And the baby shower says... Is that a reveal like you put the balloons on a wall with darts and you had to each of them? And it has pictures of him with all five wins.
Starting point is 00:03:34 women and it says welcome little Zetty wills one to five wait but do they all know of each other it's just like an organized thing no no they didn't know but they said we just have to accept the fact that he was getting around and that we are all in this situation we're gonna glamour shot together basically he's sitting on a stool and they're surrounding him wow okay how crazy wow man who got five women pregnant at the same time host a joint baby shower for all the mothers to be he's gonna need a buddy double I bet he is for sure wow Wow. He must be, I mean, I mean, that,
Starting point is 00:04:09 potent. Yeah, and busy. And just imagine if those five got pregnant, who, how many did he did? What else is out there? Wow, good point. Or how many did this out there, but how many didn't at the same time?
Starting point is 00:04:19 Because it's not like that's only five people he's with. Man. Eddie, what you got? So we were just talking about this, but a group of Japanese scientists just caught on camera, plants communicating. So apparently there's this thermal camera that can kind of see the way plants
Starting point is 00:04:34 are like their insides work. Well, when one plant noticed a toxin or an insect coming to them, they alerted all the other plants in the area and it's all on camera, dude. It is crazy. So you're right. Trees, plants,
Starting point is 00:04:47 they're all talking to each other. That's cool. I'm not associated with this story. What do you mean? Thank you. They just proved it. That's cool. I like it.
Starting point is 00:04:54 Why do you not want to be associated with it? Too early in the morning. Huh? Yeah. I like to my plant talk later. Oh. I'm quite there. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:00 Okay, we'll say it for that bit. My story from KDBR family in Colorado left a deep freezer on their front lawn for anybody to take. They're like, hey, this is ours. Put it out there by the curb. You can have it. Turned, somebody went and got it. It's like, I'll take it. Open it up.
Starting point is 00:05:12 There's a human head in it. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. The freezer was supposedly from previous owners and the police are investigating if it's a possible homicide. Yeah. How do they never look in it before they give it away? Wow. Mesa County Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a suspicious incident on the road.
Starting point is 00:05:27 New homeowners were cleaning out various leftover belongings. I still think you'd open and look in it before you gave it out. Let's like money in there. Or a head. Maybe there's a lot of meat. Is there a lock? If there's a lot of meat, you look as if it's good. Right.
Starting point is 00:05:38 But if you have a lot of meat, you're just like, ah, it's just chicken and steak. No, no, but if you're the one moving out, how do you forget the head? I know. If you're running it to hide the whole body and you're like, okay, we got it all out of here. And you're like, oh, God, the head. That's the main, that's the big one. Like, who cares about your couch? Who cares about anything?
Starting point is 00:05:53 The head. We're going to need an update on that. That's crazy. Yeah. That's our favorite news of the day. Let's open up the mailbag You send an email and we read it on the air It's something we call Bobby's mailbag
Starting point is 00:06:07 Yeah Hello Bobby Bones Before my dad passed away four years ago He gave a substantial amount of money to me I don't know exactly how much it was But he left his entire estate to my stepmom And their two adult children And I'm pretty sure that's also worth a significant sum
Starting point is 00:06:22 Now my stepmom is asking me To give her some of the money that my dad gave me I wasn't included in his will, so this is all I have from him. I'm pretty good in my finances, so I can't afford to give her money, but I don't feel like I should have to. She lives a very extravagant lifestyle. It could easily do with a lot less. Should I refuse to give her money, even if it might ruin our relationship? It's a weird dynamic.
Starting point is 00:06:45 She ain't your mom anymore. Maybe even your stepmom anymore. Also, she's got her own money. And it's going to ruin your relationship because you won't give her money. That's obviously her decision. And that's not a very valuable. relationship to her if she's going to let me be ruined by that. Right.
Starting point is 00:06:59 What are your thoughts? Oh, I don't think I would give her money unless it was a situation where she really needed it. It sounds like she had it and she chose to spend it in a way that was reckless. So unless you want to be the rescuer, I guess you don't have to. I would say the same thing. It's not on you. If you want to, that's great. Right.
Starting point is 00:07:22 But you definitely do not have to. There should be no guilt. she ain't your mom. Also, she was left what she was left by your dad. The end. But also know if you have the money and she would like it and you don't give it to her. The relationship probably is gone. But that's what it sounds like because I don't think I'd want to be in that relationship.
Starting point is 00:07:44 Yeah, I feel like I'm picturing me coming to you asking to borrow money. Like say you know that I went crazy and bought this, this and this or whatever and then I'm in a little bit of trouble. And I'm like, Bobby, can you help me out? I need some money. And you tell me no, and I'm like, fine. But I would help you. I'm not going to be your friend. You shouldn't, though.
Starting point is 00:08:00 But I would, though, because you're my friend. I know, but I would, though, because you're my friend. I hope I would understand if you didn't. Yeah. I'd be like, I get it. Don't be guilty. Don't feel bad. You do not owe her a lick.
Starting point is 00:08:10 If you're not close to her, I wouldn't give her a lick. If you are close to her, that is you need to get into the nuance of the little things that are going to be gone from your life if you don't. But I wouldn't. I don't like the precedent that sets. And gosh, that's probably, I know that you did get some money from your dad in another way, but to be left out of the wheel completely. Yeah. But maybe that was purposeful.
Starting point is 00:08:31 Like, if your dad leaves you the money, maybe there's some, I don't know. Yeah, yeah, yeah, okay. Like, why don't it leave everything to him? Well, no, I mean, I get him wanting to leave it to the. Oh, yeah, the stepkids. Ooh. Yeah, that's tough. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:46 All right. Thank you guys. To the emailer, you're good. You do not have to do a dang thing and do not feel guilty about it. Now, if she needed surgery or something, I would say, please reconsider. But it sounds like she just needs another prodig bag. We got your email and we ran the clothes. Bobby's mail bag.
Starting point is 00:09:07 All right, we got this voicemail for Fun Fact Friday. Hey, Bobby, I have a Fun Fact Friday for you. So everyone knows Woody's voice is Tom Hanks. But did you know that Disney uses Tom's brother Jim for virtually all of Woody's non-movie roles, games, toys, ads? Everything that's not the movie is actually Jim, his brother, not Tom. so many of you probably hear Jim's voice more than Tom Hanks. That's a fun fact for you.
Starting point is 00:09:34 How lucky that Jim kind of sounds like Tom because not all brothers sound alike. Right. Is that real? It is real. He has a real brother? Yeah, Jim. No idea. And how lucky he has such a famous brother that Jim just rides his coattails?
Starting point is 00:09:47 Would you rather be the famous one of the coattel rider? Oh, famous. Out in the public eye. But would you be jealous if your brother was super famous and you were coat tail riding? Would you be jealous? Does it have to be called coat d'all riding? That's what he called. I'm just saying if he'd read 100%.
Starting point is 00:10:00 You said Jim is lucky. Yes. And you said how lucky to be Jim, but would you want to be Jim? I would take it, but I'd be disappointed. I mean, I'd like that money. But Jim's got the best. He doesn't have to do all the work. He just does like whatever Tom did.
Starting point is 00:10:15 I don't know he works really hard. Oh, I don't know he works hard, but that's pretty cool. Being the voice to all those different things. Come on, you just read stuff. Yeah, but I mean, you just fall into that. Yeah. Okay, let's go with Fun Fact Friday. I'll start and I'll close.
Starting point is 00:10:28 Jello created four flavors to use in salads in the 60s. So think of jello, but instead of like the fun fruity flavors, celery, mixed vegetables, Italian salad, and seasoned tomato. But nobody wanted to eat that kind of jello, so they discontinued that's gross. Good idea. Amy? Discontinue. Rats will laugh out loud if you tickle them. Just like humans.
Starting point is 00:10:49 I'm not tickling a rat. Okay, they have their ticklish spots that can bring out their high-pitched laughter, but it is so high-pitched. We're not able to hear it. But do they stick their tongue out and like open their mouth? So how do we know they're laughing? Maybe like Eddie said, their mouth is open in your legs. And they slap your hand. There was a story, this is not mine, but the Beatles, when they recorded songs,
Starting point is 00:11:18 especially in a day in the life, they used a high-pitched tone that only cats and dogs could hear. I've tried this, though. I've tried this. Is your rat laugh? No, the dog didn't do anything. Okay. But I play my dog, lots of songs didn't do anything. Yeah, but apparently this one, the dogs can really hear.
Starting point is 00:11:35 It's a good. Yeah. But because you hear something doesn't mean you react. What do you mean? If someone says Eddie, I turn around and be like, what? But they're not calling the dog's name.
Starting point is 00:11:44 Practical joke? No, they put this in, it doesn't matter. Lunchbox, go with yours. Yeah. The smell of books makes a lot of people need to poop. It's called the Mariko Aoki
Starting point is 00:11:54 phenomenon. And it is the urge to defecate when visiting a bookstore. I wonder what that, the tree, like maybe the tree smell, the paper takes us back to nature. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:12:04 We've got to go back to the bathroom. Oddly, I've heard this before and I don't know why. Eddie? They paint the Eiffel Tower every seven years and it's 60 tons of paint that they use. And here's the rule. They can't use rollers or spray. They have to just use paint brushes. Wow.
Starting point is 00:12:21 So a bunch of people are doing that. I saw it for the first time finally last year. Not as big as I thought. What do you mean? It's not big? Yeah. Okay. I've seen the one in Vegas.
Starting point is 00:12:29 Compared to that, how big is it? Just a little bigger. A little bigger? I don't even know, but I just thought it would be like a monster. it's big, but you just hear your whole life and you never think you're going to go see it. Then you see it. You're like, well, look at that. That's big. I feel like that whole trip because you saw the Mona Lisa and I think you saw like a starry night by Van Gogh. Everything was like, it wasn't as big as I thought.
Starting point is 00:12:47 Well, we just have our whole life being told about it. Yeah, like the White House. Not that big. It's not that big. It's not that white. It's more like a, you know, egg shell. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Morgan. We all know there's like Michelin Star restaurants. Those Michelin stars are actually given out by the Michelin Tire Company, like the marshmallow man. The whole reason is because in the 1900s, they released a ranking of restaurants to encourage people to drive more. No idea.
Starting point is 00:13:11 I thought it was a different, like, fanciergeal. Same. It is the Michelin' car. And the whole reason. So like old Chuck that works down over in the... The tire shop? Three Michelin's. Yep, that's his giving the stars.
Starting point is 00:13:21 All because they wanted us to drive more hints than get more tire business. I did not know that. Wow. And he's not a marshmallow man. He's a tire guy, right? Yeah, but he looks like the marshmallow man. Well, they call him the Michelin Man, don't they? No.
Starting point is 00:13:33 different. That's Ghostbusters. He's the Michelin man. Those are two different people? Yeah. I always love the same person. Oh, that is the different. Yeah, I see the Michelin man in my head. He's got like rings on them. Tires. He still looks like a marshmallow. Yeah. Okay. In the Canadian Football League's championship game, they give out an MVP award, and they also give out a second place award called Most Valuable Canadian for the best player in the game who's actually from Canada. Oh.
Starting point is 00:13:56 Good for them. That's it. That is Fun Fact Friday. Fun Fact Friday. It's time for the game. Good News. With producer Eddie. Tell me something good. Jay Rand is a retired San Francisco police sergeant, and he's a huge football fan. He loves the NFL.
Starting point is 00:14:15 And this weekend, he went to the Chiefs Dolphins game at Arrowhead Stadium. And the reason that's so cool is because that was the 32nd NFL stadium that he's visited. Oh, we hit them all. His goal was to go to every single stadium, and he did it. It took him years. He said it was very, very expensive. About to say, he was going. bunch of money. But he's so happy about it. That's super cool. I look at the state map sometimes
Starting point is 00:14:38 and see all the states that I've been to. I've been to almost all of them. Yeah. I haven't been to Alaska or Maine. No, I went to Maine. Yeah, you did. You did go to Maine. I sure did. And New Hampshire. Alaska's tough because it's like separated. Yeah. I know. It's out there. Takes a little while. Can't drive. And I have been to Rhode Island, which that's the smallest one. I think it's Alaska, maybe. Is it the only state I haven't been to? You've been to Delaware? You've been to Delaware? Yeah. I went there with you. did a show there. So I think I'm almost,
Starting point is 00:15:06 I'm like this guy. It's not as cool. That's a cool story. Good for him. That's got to be super cool. I like to see a spreadsheet or his PowerPoint like Morgan did all the guys she dated. We should all go to Alaska. And their food. Why are we going to go together? Why would we go? We spent a lot to check Bobby's final state. I'm good about it. He could go.
Starting point is 00:15:22 He can go by himself or with his wife. I'll let you know if you want to like follow us. You can. All right, there you go. That's what it's all about. That was tell me something good. A win is a win. A win. A win is a win. Yep, that's me, Cliver Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football, or my career in sports media.
Starting point is 00:15:45 Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined. And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show. This is a place for raw, unfiltered conversations with some of your favorite athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated. The Clifford Show isn't just a podcast, it's a space for honest conversations, stories that don't always get told, and for people who are chasing something bigger.
Starting point is 00:16:18 So if you've ever supported me or you're just chasing down a dream, this is right where you need to be. Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok Podcast Network on TikTok. On a recent episode of the podcast, Money and Wealth with John Hobriant, I sit down with Tiffany the budgetista Aliche to talk about what it really takes to take control of your money. What would that look like in our families if everyone was able to pass on wealth to the people
Starting point is 00:16:50 when they're no longer here? We break down budgeting, financial discipline, and how to build real wealth, starting with the mindset shifts too many of us were never, ever taught. Financial education is not always about, like, I'm going to be able to. get rich. That's great. It's about creating an atmosphere for you to be able to take care of yourself and leave a strong financial legacy for your family. If you've ever felt you didn't get the memo on money, this conversation is for you to hear more. Listen to Money and Wealth with John O'Brien from the Black Effect Network on the I'd Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever
Starting point is 00:17:30 you get your podcast. Hi, hi everyone. I'm Cheryl Strayed. author of wild and tiny beautiful things, I'm excited to share that I have a new podcast called Mind Over Mountain. In each episode, I interview athletes, adventurers, and adrenaline seekers to discuss the inner landscapes and life experiences that informed and inspired their extraordinary feats. I also bring a bit of advice into the mix so we too can better understand how to face our own seemingly insurmountable challenges.
Starting point is 00:18:01 Do you know what I'm going to do? I'm going to pull out what you already have inside. We're coming into this world, fighting for our lives. All I'm going to do is pull out what you already got inside. We're there to support and celebrate each other. And that's not like your story versus my story. You're going to walk up and over that dang mountain. You're not just going to put your mind over it.
Starting point is 00:18:20 Yep, yep, exactly. And if I can't walk up and over it, I'm going to go through it. Listen to Mind Over Mountain every Thursday on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. In our studio now is Abby, who answers our phone. produces a bunch of segments here on the show. Abby, can you tell me what happened? Okay, so the other day I did something that I usually don't do.
Starting point is 00:18:43 But I was like, I can't walk in the store and not do something about this. So where are you? So I was at Kroger, getting groceries, and I was walking in, and there was this dog like tied up. We had, what, seven inches of snow, right? Yeah. So this dog was tied up on the bike rack, on a leash, and it was standing in the freezing ice, like on top of it. It had nowhere to go, but be on the freezing ice.
Starting point is 00:19:02 So the dog was in the snow? Right. Yes. Like all pause in snow. And it kept like picking its feet up and I was like, oh my gosh, you're so cold. Like I feel so bad. So I kind of stood out there for a while and no one came out. And I was like, oh my gosh, what do I do? How long did you stay out there with the dog you think? Oh, it was like, 10 minutes. I kept kind of going in and out. And did the dog looking miserable? Yes. Oh yeah. But I tried to like call her over and be like, are you okay. And she was like, she was scared of me. Did she know English? Probably not. Okay. Go ahead. Good question. Obviously because she was scared. And so I like walked around. I was like, do you. Do I go to every person and be like, is your dog out there? But I was like, I'm not going to do that. So I went. What did you guys have done at this point?
Starting point is 00:19:40 Gone in and gone shopping and left the dog there. What? Dog in snow. Yeah, it's right in front, right by the door, I'm assuming, right? But it was outside of the door. She's concerned because the dog's standing in the snow. Right. And it's like clearly uncomfortable.
Starting point is 00:19:52 I mean, we stand in the snow for 10 minutes. We have shoes. They have paws. Okay. Okay. Let's watch box, what would you have done? I probably would have gone shopping if it was still there when I got back, then raise the red flag.
Starting point is 00:20:03 But besides that, you think, oh, they're in and out. But she waited 10 minutes. They didn't come out. 10 minutes isn't that long. Okay. Abby, go ahead. Okay. So I went to an employee and I was like, hey, can you like announce it on the overhead speaker in here and just be like, hey, someone check on their dog?
Starting point is 00:20:19 And she was like, yeah, I'll do that. And then I'll get a cardboard box and take it and put it under his feet. And I was like, okay. And so I waited around and I heard it on the overhead speaker. And I. What did they say? Do an impression. It was kind of like, attention shoppers.
Starting point is 00:20:32 If that is your dog outside. side, can you please go check on it or something? It was really faint, but I could still hear it. And so I was like, by the front door and I saw this lady with her cart full and she ran out. And I was like, oh my gosh, this is her. And I was like really mad at this point. Maybe a little more mad than, no, no, I'm justifying myself. Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:20:49 Yeah, okay. And so she went out there and like just pet the dog and then started to come back in and go shopping more. And I was like, is that your dog? Did you step in? I did. Wow. Wow. You just talked to her.
Starting point is 00:21:01 At this point, is it on cardboard? No, no, not yet. They were still getting the box. They were still in the process of this. And so she turned around. I was like right there. I was like, oh, shoot. And I was like, is that your dog?
Starting point is 00:21:12 And she's like, yeah. And I was like, oh, you're just going to leave it there? Oh, dang, dang, dang. She's like, yeah, she's fine. I was like, she does not look fine. She's like picking her paws up right now. You cannot tell me that she looks fine. And she's like, she's a mountain dog.
Starting point is 00:21:27 She's fine. And I was like, okay, you take your shoes off and go stay on barefoot for 20 minutes. Yeah, that's true about like wolves and stuff. Like, yeah. Yeah, it was not a husky. It was not a husky. It looked like a doodle or, you know, one of those. It looked like Mountain doodle.
Starting point is 00:21:42 Oh, Mountain doodle. The famous Mountain doodle. They do make Bernice Mountain doodles. So did you think she was going to punch you or anything? She just kept saying she's fine. So it's like she didn't have any like valid things to come back with. And I was like, you go stand out there in your bare feet for 20 minutes. You didn't say that though.
Starting point is 00:22:00 Yes, I did. Let's go. Abby. Yes. That's not okay. That's not okay. I will defend things that don't have a choice. Did you release the dog? I didn't release a dog. No, that'd be the worst thing for it.
Starting point is 00:22:13 Did you have the dog outside? No, there's nothing really else I can do. The owners there. I mean, that would be carried away if I went and grabbed the dog. What did you do then? I basically just said that and she was like, she's fine. And we just kind of stood there and I was like, okay, you're really going to do that. Okay. And then you left?
Starting point is 00:22:27 Yeah, I just kind of walked away because it was causing a little bit of a scene. I bet. I think people were leaving and coming in. But there was a lady on my side that walked in with me and saw the whole thing. And then she talked to me later and was like, I agree. I would have done the same thing. I applaud you for standing up for something you believe in. I don't know the answer to can a dog stay in the snow that long.
Starting point is 00:22:46 I thought you can take a dog in the store now. I don't know the answer to that store in this dog. See, that's what the employee said to me. She was like, oh, the owner probably just didn't know they could take it in. And I'm like, well, then why would you even bring it? You could even left it in the car instead of like trapping it on snow. You know, like, dogs in the car. No, I would know.
Starting point is 00:23:01 I wouldn't do that. Just because you stood for something, I like it. And you stood for something and nobody got hurt, but had you not, maybe the dog would have got hurt. Maybe if paws would have gotten cold. Yeah, they could get hypothermia. They could freeze. And if they put the dog's feet on a cardboard box, I'm sure that good.
Starting point is 00:23:21 That's good. Dogs can generally plan the snow safely for around 30 minutes to an hour, depending on factors such as the dog's breed age and overall health. It's important to monitor your dog, what you were doing. For signs of discomfort, though. The signs of discomfort or distress, such as shivering and able to provide them breaks to warm up. Was the dog shivering at all? Yes.
Starting point is 00:23:37 And there were no breaks on the paws. They had nowhere to go to run and pick them up. Yeah, because the dog was picking up a pause. Yes, exactly. I took a picture, too. I was like, I will get picture proof of this. I was even going to post him. Is this, like, not her chilly kind of situation?
Starting point is 00:23:51 No, because it's a dog involved or another human. She's speaking up for someone that can't speak or something. I'd rather be wrong to speak up for something than not say anything at all. And it die or be sick. Right. So I applaud you. Yeah. Nobody got hurt.
Starting point is 00:24:07 Right. And I didn't cuss her out or anything. Well, good for you. Oh, yeah. That would have been over the far. You told her to take her shoes off and like go stand outside. Yeah. You really said that?
Starting point is 00:24:15 I did. I was kind of proud of that one. I mean, I was just like, whoa, okay. Pretty good. Well, thank you, Abby. We are proud of you. Okay, good.
Starting point is 00:24:23 I usually don't do that type of thing. So I was very. And that's why we're proud of you because it wasn't your comfort zone. You were looking out for somebody else. Yes. Even if somebody calls, a vet calls, he goes, no, it's fine. I still like it that Abby didn't quite know, so she was going to send up just in case. Right.
Starting point is 00:24:35 The dog was safe. Good job, Ed. Like, 25 people walked in the store right past it. You guys would have done? This feels like a ploy the month type stuff right here. I'm just saying. Oh. That's a good one.
Starting point is 00:24:43 That's a good one. All right, voice mails from last night. Let's go. Hey, guys. Good morning. I'm calling from Grand Forks, North Dakota. And it's a cold one here. Negative three.
Starting point is 00:24:55 I listen to you every morning on my way to work. Just had to say, good morning. I'll be listening. Thanks, buddy. Appreciate that. Wow. That is cold. Here's Alex from D.C.
Starting point is 00:25:04 Morning Studio. I am turning 30 years old tomorrow, and I am a little nervous about it, and I was just wondering, what did you guys do for your 30th birthday? My friends are trying to get me to, like, really celebrate, but I don't know. I just don't really feel like celebrating it.
Starting point is 00:25:19 So just wondering what you guys did for it. Love the show. No idea. No clue. I will never forget mine. Go ahead. Uh-oh. So we lived in North Carolina.
Starting point is 00:25:28 because that's where Ben was stationed in the Air Force. And we were, yeah, he was really trying to do something special for my 30th birthday. And he got all my friends together at an art gallery downtown and put up an easel and a blank canvas. And the artist at the gallery had sketched me out. And my friends painted me in front of me. And I have the painting. No, it's just my face. It was like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:54 She's got an apple. I mean, there was like, you know, snacks and champagne. pain and like a cake. But you didn't like to have to sit there and make people. It was awkward. I mean, he looking back thought, well. This is kind of a sweet thing to try. Definitely risky.
Starting point is 00:26:08 I get it. But he said he wanted to have a painting party. And it was the art gallery person was like, why don't we paint her and she could have a portrait? Y'all could hang up. But he didn't hang any portrait. It's still in my attic. It is like Andy Warhol vibes.
Starting point is 00:26:22 And my friends all signed the back. But it's just awkward to have all your friends there painting you. Maybe you got to put a picture. up and sat with them and they painted right picture yeah yeah here is catherine and amarillo Texas how do you organize a space party you plan
Starting point is 00:26:38 it that's good here's Amy's pile of stories anybody here trying to have a baby men right now yeah the second well you want kids
Starting point is 00:26:50 no more eventually okay well beware of heated seats because according to a new study heated seats in cars can mess with sperm production oh give me a hot seat I'll sit on it every day He doesn't want more kids
Starting point is 00:27:04 But does that mean that you won't be able to have a kid or the kid may have complication? Well, probably reduces your count Which is you need all you Yeah, even though there's millions and millions and millions you need them all Okay So like half of a, you know, half a sperm Exactly Half a kid? Yep
Starting point is 00:27:23 So men who are trying for a pregnancy stay away from Heated car seats, heated blankets, and tight pants. And heaters in the house during winter. Just stay cold. Like your laptop? Like when you're not supposed to put that on your junk. That too.
Starting point is 00:27:36 Yeah, yeah. That's why I do it. There you go. Always. Yes. Okay, Bobby, I'm going to go over an article I found. It was for kids and parents. Seven signs.
Starting point is 00:27:45 Your kid may be addicted to social media or their phone. I'm not, but I love it. I'm not addicted, but go ahead. I'm going to do it on you. Hobbies take a back seat. No. Not hobbies. My hobby is my phone, though.
Starting point is 00:27:58 Right. So it wouldn't really be a back seat. Fix the front seat. Yeah, no, it's my hobby. It's a lot of stuff on my phone, but no, that's it. Constant need for validation. No, not on social media. It's the opposite.
Starting point is 00:28:08 People just hate me over there. Okay. Mood swings. Like, do you get anxious when you don't have it? Only if I can't find it or it's nowhere near me and I can't touch it. Okay. Decline in physical activity. No, I work out with it in my hand.
Starting point is 00:28:23 Sometimes I read it. Neglecting responsibilities. I'm pretty responsible. Disrupted sleep patterns. Yeah, but I've been staying off my phone and sleeping and turning blue light off. I read a book on the iPad, but I've been turning the blue light off the iPad, and I'm going to tell you something. It's harder to read with no blue light on.
Starting point is 00:28:40 Yeah. You think you just turn to wherever the blue light is, and you'd be like, same thing. Just don't read blue light. It's harder to read. I have bad vision. But I've been doing okay with no phone like 30 minutes before bed. Okay, that's good. I think that one's a check, Amy.
Starting point is 00:28:52 No. Shut up. Yeah, check. I do wake up in the middle night, though. And if I, when I wake up four or five times. and just play a podcast. On your phone? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:02 Yeah. The final one here is... What do you have Bill Simmons come to my house? The final one here is social withdrawal. No, not withdraw if you never get draw. It says... I never draw so I can't withdraw. Okay, it makes people more and more uncomfortable with face-to-face communication.
Starting point is 00:29:19 They prefer interacting over a screen. Oh, no. No, I prefer not being face-to-face. It doesn't mean a screen. You prefer not being mouth-to-ear. I don't like talking on the phone. you like FaceTime. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:29:30 No, on the screen. I'm only half addicted then, according to this. You guys are just looking for a target and I'm it and okay. I'm an easy target. You took the test, but I don't deserve that. All right,
Starting point is 00:29:39 what else? In all seriousness, yeah, we were going over that with Bobby, but parents, this is a good checklist to pay attention to for your kids. Don't make your kids feel like Amy made me fill though. No,
Starting point is 00:29:47 go ahead. You mostly, go ahead. Okay. Miami Heat Star, Jimmy Butler. You know him? He's been in a town writing a bunch of songs
Starting point is 00:29:54 for the last couple years. Really? Boom. It says here he's been working on his own country album. for over a year. He says he already has about 60 songs, but he's aiming to record around 200 to have more to choose from. That's a lot of
Starting point is 00:30:06 songs. It was a lot. It's a lot of songs. I like that guy. Yeah, Jimmy Butler's cool. All right, is that it? I'm Amy, that's my pile. That was Amy's pile of stories. It's time for the good news. With lunchbox. Gavin Tucker is a 13-year-old who lives in St. Clair, Michigan, and he woke
Starting point is 00:30:26 up, and it was Snow Day, no school. And him and his buddy were throwing snowballs at each other and he's like man we should have a big snowball fight everybody in the community should come so he got on facebook and said kids spread the word rosavout elementary two o'clock snowball fight let's go and all the kids showed up big snowball fight do you pick teams it it doesn't say but he just organized it he just organized he was like i don't want kids to be stuck at home and i want every kid to feel like they're invited so he would just boom put it on Facebook and then said, hey, invite your friends, invite your friends, invite your friends.
Starting point is 00:31:00 Could you put, and I don't know that I've ever really been in a snowball fight. I've like throwing them at people. But do you ever put like stuff in it? In the ball? Like a rock? Yeah, like no. Not like mean if you were mean. Is that like those eggs that you open and like, oh, look like I found out of the egg?
Starting point is 00:31:15 Oh, maybe an egg. Or even an egg in the snow? Well, you might crack that one. But was that something mean, mean, kids did to put rocks in them? Not that, I mean, growing up in Texas, we didn't have them. Oh, that's true. You didn't have snow. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:25 As more again. Ramundo. Ramundo, do you guys ever put rocks and snowballs? No, I don't think I ever did. Yeah, you just can't do the ice. I mean, people can feel when you got one of the more iced snowballs. So it's got to be a puff. It's got to be fresh powder.
Starting point is 00:31:38 But any rocks? No, I mean, you can't do that. Kill someone. Yeah, that's so dumb, man. Just asking. All right, thank you. All right, good story. Good job, kid.
Starting point is 00:31:46 That's what it's all about. That was tell me something good. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what you're saying. Yep. That's me. Cliver Taylor the fourth. You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football, or my career in sports media.

Starting point is 00:34:10 I'm not worried about Policic. I'm not worried about Balagan. I'm not worried about McKinney. My only concern is what happens in the back. The biggest decisions. If you're going to look at stats and numbers, he has no shot at making this World Cup team. and the truth about the U.S. national team.
Starting point is 00:34:29 It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run into the semifinals. The World Cup is almost here. Experience it all with us. Listen, Inside American Soccer with Tom Bogart and Tab Ramos on the iHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcast. This is wild. Starting point is 00:34:55 I listen on the podcast, and I must be all caught up because my podcast went all the way back to an episode from October 17, 2017, in which I'd like to give Amy huge props because there was a morning corny on that episode. She has done over 2,55 morning corny. So Amy just calling to give you props because when the boys give you crap, you just need to say, listen, I've been doing over 3,000 jokes. That's a lot of jokes, Amy. You rock.
Starting point is 00:35:28 Bye, Studio. Good point. Is she going back to that? I don't know the very first show we ever did a Morning Corny. Oh. Wow. I feel like it was. But if we could ever find that, on that day it was 2,555 since then.
Starting point is 00:35:41 Amy, how do you do that? How do you write all these? Yeah. Funny. Every night pin in a pad. Very busy guys. Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right, let's get to that morning corny now.
Starting point is 00:35:52 The Morning Corny. Why are Peppers the best at archery? Why? Because they have an arrow. That's pretty. God, that's new and fresh. Nice. That was the morning corny.
Starting point is 00:36:06 It's time for Taylor Swift, blind karaoke on this wheel. I have a bunch Taylor Swift songs. We'll spin the wheel. The Landz on, you got to go sing it immediately. No words in front of you. Let's go. Let me spin the wheel around here. Let's see the songs.
Starting point is 00:36:19 The songs up for spinning are, love story. You belong with me. Shake it off. Our song, Tim McGraw, me. There's a lot. Okay. And so we have three judges. Mike D, myself,
Starting point is 00:36:30 and our resident Swiftie, Lauren. Lauren, how are you? I'm feeling great. She's sitting right by the stage too. So we roll the dice up first. We'll be Morgan. Morgan up to the microphone. You'll sing a verse and a chorus of whatever song we land on and then we'll judge and at the end. Let you never know
Starting point is 00:36:47 any song. Why is this one so different? He's like, I don't know them. Yeah, you're right, I don't know them. It's always hard. Every time he does the same bit, we're like, I don't know that one. Everybody good? Good. Morgan, is there a song you prefer? I ain't none of them Maybe
Starting point is 00:37:01 Maybe our song Our song would be good What about tear drops on my guitar I mean I do It's just slow I need some energy True Okay
Starting point is 00:37:07 Ready Let's spin that wheel Oh Here you go Morgan will be performing Is Tearrops on my guitar Oh
Starting point is 00:37:16 Would you play a clip Of the real song Ray? I don't even know All right Morgan are you ready Yeah Here's Morgan performing
Starting point is 00:37:32 Taylor Swift Tear drops on my guitar Thank you man Is that a real question or is that Colby Kelly? Can you come in? I'll try. So he won't see that I know. He loves me and just like it's so funny.
Starting point is 00:38:01 And that is why I have tear drops on my guitar for the tear drops on my guitar. on my guitar the only one that's got enough for me to break my heart he's the song, he's the sound, he's the reason I don't know why I do All right, there we go
Starting point is 00:38:32 You're going in there though You stayed in the ring You fly to the bell And I can appreciate that You know if those aren't lyrics Those are pretty good, I'm not gonna lie I don't think a lot of them were lyrics I mean honest
Starting point is 00:38:44 I felt like they were really good I don't know You're close Yeah I think we're just feeling around the dark You know you get a wall every once while Blind squirrel finds a nut. Yeah, you know what I did. I found one.
Starting point is 00:38:52 But I do admire you staying in and not giving up. Everybody submit your scores. Okay. Thank you very much. Let's go to our Swifty though. After you submit your score, what did you think about Morgan's performance? She hit it on point with the teardrops in my guitar. She got the name right, Drew.
Starting point is 00:39:05 Yeah. But she sang from the heart with passion and that's all that matters. That's a lot. That's a lot of fun. Yeah. That's a lot. All right. Morgan, thank you very much.
Starting point is 00:39:15 There she is. Everybody put your scores in. Thank you. Right, next up, we rolled the dice. She came in at number two. It's Amy. Amy's going to pull this. Wow.
Starting point is 00:39:26 Okay. Big Taylor fan. She once painted a picture for Taylor Swift. Let me take a step back. She once took an art class so she could paint a picture to give Taylor Swift. And then Taylor said, wow, this is so good. Amy recorded it. And then turns out later, it was just like throwing a bus or something?
Starting point is 00:39:44 Yeah. Private art lessons. So not a class. That was worse For six weeks Wow Yeah Also I just feel like
Starting point is 00:39:53 It's been a minute Since I've been a hardcore Taylor fan so we'll see But you went to the concert right Oh for sure But I don't Doesn't mean I know all the lyrics Yeah but some of these songs
Starting point is 00:40:03 You should know all the lyrics too Which one would you like? Tim McGraw Sure But even right now When you're up here Like I can't even think How that starts
Starting point is 00:40:11 Oh no Okay here we go Let's spin that wheel Oh Oh here we go Here we go Here it is Here it is. There is. There is. Give her Tim McGrath. Love story. Love story.
Starting point is 00:40:21 Here's a clip of love story. I'll be the princess. Okay. Ready? But how does it start? There to go. Both young when I first saw you. Get it right here. Here you go, right here. We were both young when I first saw you.
Starting point is 00:40:59 You rocked wide in and I couldn't take my eyes off of you. You were just so cute I was wearing black And you said I was pretty You asked me to dance And I said, okay, fine, I'll dance with you Underneath the Moon Olmeyosa and I just want to be you
Starting point is 00:41:33 With you forever and ever This song One you can be, sis, and you'll be my prince and we'll have grandchildren. Okay, there we go. Yeah. Grandchildren? All right.
Starting point is 00:42:04 How do you feel about that, Amy? My mind is playing, because I know you played the hook, and I knew those words, but then they weren't coming to me. So I don't feel great about the lyrics. But I don't know. I just try to keep going. Swifting, Lauren, what do you think? You came in strong, and you got some good rhymes in there, but overall it was pretty none of the words, right? Wow.
Starting point is 00:42:28 You really went for it. I liked that. Oh, man. Hey, are you hassling a judge right now? No. A new judge has never done this. Wow. Remember, she affects the points.
Starting point is 00:42:40 Yeah. This new judge seems amazing. Yeah, see, that's what you do. Everybody send in your, yes, go ahead, Amy. No. You have your mouth open like you're about to say something. Well, I'm deciding not to because I don't want to get a yellow card. Smart.
Starting point is 00:42:55 Wow. That's a good idea, Amy. She was about to bash. walked off. Oh, I thought it was this swap-off. You are, but you like, you like marched off. Are you mad? Dang.
Starting point is 00:43:04 Coming up. Huh. Lunchbox and Eddie. Yours truly. Yours truly. The headliners. Taylor Swift, blind karaoke. Woo.
Starting point is 00:43:12 Tally these scores. We'll come back. These two will go next. Bobby Brown show. You went to the Taylor Swift show, right? Oh, yeah, I did. I rocked it in a suite. Did you feel like you sang most songs with her?
Starting point is 00:43:23 No. You didn't? No, I felt like I sat there and watched it and was like, I can see how people like her. She's entertaining. But you didn't know the songs? No. I knew like a couple.
Starting point is 00:43:32 Yeah. And I was like, she looks pretty hot. Like she had a huge stage. And I was like, I am impressed how one person can command that entire stage and walk it. And the stage was going up and down. And she was in the right spot every time. And I was like, man, she could break a leg if she's one inch to the left, one inch to the right. But she didn't.
Starting point is 00:43:52 She didn't. So we're doing super impressive. Taylor Swift, blind karaoke earlier. Morgan and Amy perform their songs. Now Lunchbox will perform and then Eddie, which we roll the dice, this is all random performance slots. On this wheel are all the songs you could be performing,
Starting point is 00:44:06 so you don't know what you're going to sing. That's right. And you also don't have words in front of you. Correct. Are you ready? All right, let's spin that wheel, baby. Is there one you'd like to have? I guess shake it off.
Starting point is 00:44:14 You like that one? I feel like he'd be good at that. Yeah. Well, just because I know that you say shake it off. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's go. Let's spin that wheel. Give them and shake it off, fun.
Starting point is 00:44:25 Let's go. Shake it off. What? You got it. Oh, you know what they say? What? Manifest it. That's what Amy says?
Starting point is 00:44:37 Amy says that, yeah. Put that on your vision board. And now lunchbox with no words in front of him. Wait, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Now perform. Hey, you're going to have to point me in. Shake it off. Shout out, this goes out to my kids.
Starting point is 00:45:02 Okay, start again. Hold on. Lauren, he was looking at all of us. Lauren, you cue him in. Lauren. Yes. Okay, ready? Yeah, what's to start out with?
Starting point is 00:45:16 No, no, no, no, no, no, no, I'm telling them. Shout to my kids. They say I stay out too late. They say I go on too many dates. They say I kiss with too many dudes. And you know what I say? The head is going to hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate. So you know what I do?
Starting point is 00:45:35 I shake them off, shake them off, shake, shake them off. They say me and Travis ain't real. They say I don't believe in love. He tried to give me a bracelet. And now I steal, steal, steal, steal. And they'd shake it off. Shake, shake, shake it off. And when a defender tries to tackle my bow,
Starting point is 00:45:53 I tell him, you know what you need to do? Shake, shake, shake it off. Because the haters going to hate, hate, hate. The play is going to play, play, play, play. And Kelsey, he played, play, play, play. And me and Casey, Kelsey stay up late, late, late. And you know what the haters say? I say, shake them off.
Starting point is 00:46:08 Shake, shake them off. I'm trying to say girlfriend. We're going to get engaged. this summer and then people are going to say we ain't freedom and I'm going to say you just hate hate hate hate it. All right great great chicken ball that was good.
Starting point is 00:46:23 Wow, wow, what a performance. Wow. That's deep song. Took us while to get there but we got there. What did we ever? That's good. How do you feel about that? Thought it did pretty good.
Starting point is 00:46:31 Yeah. You almost hit the chorus too like on time, almost. Close you've ever been by yourself. Which part is the chorus? Shake, shake, shake, shake. I thank you, thank you, thank you, my kids.
Starting point is 00:46:41 Hope my kids like that. They like this song. All that's for your kids? Yeah, they like that song. We didn't know. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Lawrence and Mitch your score. What did you think about Lunchbox's passion level?
Starting point is 00:46:49 The dancing was great. I love the tie-in with Travis Kelsey for Nadden. What about his lyric? Yeah, you hit some points. Thank you. You got the main overall message of this song. Shake it off. Does she stay out too late?
Starting point is 00:47:03 Does she go on too many dates? With Travis now, yeah. Yeah, exactly. Thank you, Lunchbox. Next up, our final performer. All right. Eddie! Let's go!
Starting point is 00:47:12 Okay. Eddie, what song would you like? Oh, man, I'm looking at that list. I don't really know the worst for a lot of those. And he's still wearing a cowboy's hat, which is not a good sign. Come on, come on. Give me a good one. You'll do.
Starting point is 00:47:29 I don't know that. You belong with me. Yeah. I don't know that. What's that song? Here it is right here. He feels good about it. Now remember, he has no words in front of him, and he did not know he's going to sing the song until right now.
Starting point is 00:47:52 Our final performance. Then we'll do the judge of scores. Ready, go. Yes, this is the, oh, you're on the pleases. I'm the cheerleader captain. He said you didn't know it. I'm on the bleachers. You look upset and I see you looking at that chick and I'm thinking she doesn't have what I do.
Starting point is 00:48:16 A quarterback and I'm not the cheerleader. You laugh at all my songs because they're in D but you know you need someone like me. They got high there for a little bit. You know, that's good when you're done. What do you mean? I mean, I felt good. Yeah, that felt good. Okay, yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:12 Felt real good, yeah. Eddie is the reigning champion for the last one. He did win the 90s version. We did 90s songs last time. So, right, put your scores in. Eddie, you feel good. I feel good. Dude, that's crazy.
Starting point is 00:49:23 That song just came to me. I don't know that that's true as you think it is. Well, I felt like it did. I don't know that it all came to you as easy as you think it did. All right. He's going back to a seat, Eddie. Yeah. Okay.

Starting point is 01:03:00 We have to X that one because the Bible is not easy trivia. Not everybody went to church. But not everybody knows all the movie stuff. Not everybody knows everything. Right. But this is general Bible trivia. Let's see if you would get it. Number one.

Starting point is 01:03:42 Because like when people say, oh, my favorite scripture is, but I don't know what that means. No, I hear you, but you went four for four. Oh, you would know John can support John 316. Yeah, Stone Cole, Steve Austin used to say that. No, I thought he made that. No, no, no, he didn't say that. He would say Austin 316 is a funny way, but he didn't say for God's love the world that he gave us long God's up.

Starting point is 01:04:28 Thank you. All right, nice job. All right, thank you guys. Bobby Bone Show. Story of the day. This story comes us from Mountain Brook, Alabama. There was a house party going on, people drinking, and there's this big urn. Like a huge urn.
Starting point is 01:04:43 This guy's like, you know what? I should get inside. that? Like an urn where you put ashes of dead people? No, it's like A decorative urn that's too big. There you go. That's what it's called. Got it. He climbs in it. Take pictures. Take pictures. All right, I'm gonna get out.
Starting point is 01:05:02 I'm stuck. Stuck in the urn. Right, take off your belt. I took off my belt. I can't get off. Takes off his pants. Can't? No. They got to get the hammer and chisel. So they got to bust the urn? Yeah. And there were no ashes in there, though. No ashes. But they say the urn costs about $3,000. What a party, though. Why would you get in someone's lamp?
Starting point is 01:05:22 I don't know. It's basically you're at somebody's house. Let me get in their lamp. Dude, you do crazy stuff at parties. I never have. I remember I went to a party and they had like a fish tank with 20 fish in there. No way, no way, no way. Somebody dared me to eat one.
Starting point is 01:05:36 You just swallowed it? I ate one. And then before you know it, the whole party was like, dare me to do it. Dare me to do it. Everybody was eating all the fish? Everyone ate all the fish. What? What is wrong with you?
Starting point is 01:05:47 All 20 fish. All 20 fish. I've heard of people doing this. I cannot believe that you guys did that. We were in high school. I can't believe you did it first. And by the end, the whole the fish buffet.
Starting point is 01:05:57 Yeah. And the girl, the owner of the house, she walks in, she's like, where are all my fish? Ever. Yeah, those are her pets. Yeah, I know. We didn't think about that.
Starting point is 01:06:05 If you come to my house and eat Stanley, I'd be ticked. I mean, look at that dude in the urn. Yeah, that's crazy. All right. I'm Lunchbox. That's your bonehead story of the day. I was reading this story about
Starting point is 01:06:14 Nicole Kidman from The Guardian. Nicole Kidman, by the way, a lovely person. I've been lucky enough to know her a little bit and talk to her in situations that weren't professional always. She's awesome. Never not super kind and like committed to having the conversation with you
Starting point is 01:06:32 and not everybody else around. You know, it's just awesome. But she was told, she was talking about people that had doubted her. She said, I was told, you won't have a career, you're too tall. Like she really couldn't act with other dudes too because they were shorter than her. She was too tall to make it as like a big actress. So obviously that's not true and she's awesome. But finish the sentence.
Starting point is 01:06:49 People always told you that you were too blank to make it. Amy? Spacey. But I mean, I clearly can get things done. Clearly. So, yeah. I mean, I think just like too social, talky, like couldn't focus, stuff like that. Eddie?
Starting point is 01:07:09 That was mine. Too silly. Didn't take things seriously. School. I was terrible at school because I just joked the whole time. Okay. Spacey and silly a little different, though. Yeah, I wasn't like class clown.
Starting point is 01:07:19 Yeah. I was class clown. Lunchbox? Who was I, ma'am. Man, no one. The battle of the class clowns over here. Two clowns just battling it out. People always told you that you were too blank.
Starting point is 01:07:30 Hot. Okay. Stop. Okay, be serious. I mean, no one. I mean, my parents told me I was too stupid to do. Go to college. Got it.
Starting point is 01:07:40 See, there you go. Yeah, they were like, you know, college in for everyone. I guess. Do they tell you were too stupid though? Or they just say college isn't for everyone. Big difference. They said college in for everyone. now you're paying for it.
Starting point is 01:07:51 Like, maybe you should just get a job. Okay, but they didn't tell you were too stupid. Oh, so maybe they were saying I wasn't buttoned down. I wasn't... Maybe they were just saying that based on what they knew of you, maybe that wasn't the appropriate thing for you to go and pursue and spend your time. Yeah, it's like Dr. Evans, my pre-Cal teacher in high school, he said, man, I'd love to be a fly on the wall your first college classroom.
Starting point is 01:08:16 And then what are you like, why do you want to be a fly? They're on poop. That's what I would have said, back. Well, he was like, you know, because he probably thought, I'll just want to be a camera. I don't want you to fly. He thought, man, I'm in for a rude awakening is basically what he was saying. Were you? I mean, nah, college was easier than high school.
Starting point is 01:08:30 Because they don't make you do stupid busy work. High school, it's like, here, here's a worksheet. You finish it? They give you another worksheet. We had some busy work in college, but not a bunch. Mine would probably be too, my accent was too thick. Ooh. Or I talk too fast.
Starting point is 01:08:44 Which I'm often still told, and haven't fixed it. You're like, I am who I am. I went to a speech pathologist when I was younger in college to try to, so I could be in other parts of the country. But in the end, the accent never fully goes away, not for me. And then I don't talk any slower. And half the time, I have no idea what I just said. Well, what you like to do, maybe people have heard you say this before, but it's funny when you're doing spots in the morning that people don't hear or liners. You finish words before you've finished reading them.
Starting point is 01:09:13 Like, that's how fast you're reading, and then you're speaking that quickly. and then you end up just saying whatever word. Some sound. Sometimes I don't even read the end of the word. I'll just read the first two letters and assume that's the word and just keep going. Yeah, I'll be like, just a running and then... But you mostly get it right. Racing.
Starting point is 01:09:29 Mostly. Even if you're guessing the word. But sometimes he's kickoff Kevin. I'll be like, hey, redo that again. I said every... He's like, no, but like eight words, dude. Like you just guessed on like eight words. We're done.
Starting point is 01:09:39 Thank you. Have a great weekend. We will see you on Monday. Bye everybody. Bobby Bones. This is Amy Brum. Rovok alongside TJ Holmes from the Amy and TJ podcast. And there is so much news, information, commentary coming at you all day and from all over the place. What's fact, what's fake, and sometimes

I wish that I hadn't resisted for so long the need to change. We have to be willing to live with a kind of uncertainty that none of us likes. You can have opinions, you can have like a strong stance.
Starting point is 01:10:44 And then there's your body. Having its own program. Listen to a slight change of plans on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. On a recent episode of the podcast, Money and Wealth with John Ho Bryant, I sit down with Tiffany the budgetista Aliche to talk about what it really takes to take control of your money.
