Starting point is 00:00:12 my basketball and college football journey, or my career in sports media. Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifers Show. This is a place for raw, unfills of conversations with athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated.
Starting point is 00:00:28 So let's get to it. Listen to the, the Clifford Show on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok podcast network on TikTok. This is Julian Edelman, host of Games with Names. On our latest episode, we got comedian Blake Anderson from Workaholics and The Hilarious This is Important Podcast. Let's go.
Starting point is 00:00:50 We did beat them in improv. You had an improv against the team? Yes, we would pull up their schools would be there with signs for us. It's competition. What you would win is a boss. of Goldschlager. James Fester threw it out of a van because he didn't want us drinking it. For more games with names, visit the Iheart Radio app or wherever you get your podcast. Hey, I'm Dr. Maya Shunker, a cognitive scientist and hosts of the podcast, a slight change of plans,
Starting point is 00:01:15 a show about who we are and who we become when life makes other plans. I wish that I hadn't resisted for so long the need to change. We have to be willing to live with a kind of uncertainty that none of us likes. You can have opinions. You can have like a strong stance. And then there's your body having its own program. Listen to a slight change of plans on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Come on Bobby. Bobby Ball. Transnitting. Hey guys. Welcome to Friday show. Morning studio. I got asked by a listener on TikTok, which I just do a big old Q&A on TikTok all the time.
Starting point is 00:02:06 Like, what are the five dream interviews if I could do them that I would do? And I made this list. And here's why. I put Casey, by the way, when I say this, I want like an hour, like a Bobbycast, like my podcast I do at my house where you sit for an hour and you just have time to like get in it. Go places that you probably wouldn't go on this show because we got at times commercials after 12 minutes or 18 minutes. So all these are hour long. Casey, because we haven't really interviewed her since early, early on in our show, like 2014, 2015, right? Casey Musgraves?
Starting point is 00:02:46 Yeah. Yeah, it's been a bit. It's been a long time. So I would go an hour, and we've had opportunities to do radio stuff, like quick, pop by, but I would want like an hour with Musgraves. That would be awesome. Then I put Sting at number four. Don't be confused. Not Sting the singer.
Starting point is 00:03:03 Sting the wrestler? Sting the wrestler. Once I ordered a sting signed piece of memorabilia and got the singer. And I was like, wrong sting. I see how they can get confused, you know? I would put Sting the wrestler from WCW. He's an A.W now. My favorite wrestler of all time.
Starting point is 00:03:21 Wrestling was a big part of my life in like the 90s, early 2000s. I put Sting at 4. Steve Martin at 3. Nice. And by the way, I don't want to do any of these on the phone. I mean, I would. or Zoom, I would, but that doesn't count. I want them one-on-one for an hour.
Starting point is 00:03:38 Steve Martin at three, I would say funniest man ever, only because, one, I think he's hilarious. I've read his book, Born Standing Up, probably more than any other book, except how to make friends and influence people. But he was the first, like, comedian to do stadiums. And they didn't even have really the technology, the sound, the video board. Like, he sold stadiums out doing stand-up. Born Standing Up, that's genius. He's a stand-up comic. Yeah, it was like a magician at Disney World, a Disney, and like Steve Martin at three.
Starting point is 00:04:08 Mark Grace at two. Baseball player. Yeah, and I didn't even really put these in one through five, but on my list here that I wrote down. I have Mark Grace, who was the first baseman for the Chicago Cubs, who is my favorite all-time baseball player, who now does TV for the Arizona Diamondbacks, who I can't get to respond to anything I send them. Love letters, smoke signals. Well, maybe it's too much. I know, I know. Once, though, he sent me.
Starting point is 00:04:30 I think he sent me It was either him or Sting, I forget. Because I wrote about it in my book, Bear Bones. And I wrote about them, and they like signed their name over a page I wrote about them. It just mailed me the book. I didn't even mel in the book to begin with. Wow. I don't know which one it was.
Starting point is 00:04:47 It's like, who showed them that and was like sign here. I know. Mark Grace did an intro for me at a charity event that I hosted like four or five months ago, but I didn't know him. Andy Erotic was like, hey. And he got it right, Bobby Bones. He did. it, well, I don't know how many takes it took, but I don't want to talk to him.
Starting point is 00:05:04 Chicago Cup's first baseman. The number one is David Letterman, who has been my hero since I was able to see people that didn't look like models on TV being kind of goofy and irreverent. And I'm going, oh, man, he could do that. I'm no beauty queen either. I could do that. So David Letterman would be number one. And he loves music, right?
Starting point is 00:05:27 I think everybody loves music except Lunchbox. Like in life, everybody loves some kind of music. But I would say David Letterman is number one. David Letterman now has the show on Netflix too, which some people only know him as that. Yeah. My niece is living with me for the summer. She's 21 years old. And I walk in the living room and I was like, oh, what are you watching?
Starting point is 00:05:47 She's like, oh, it's this guy. He sits down with some of the most famous people ever. And this is an interview he did with Billy Eilish. And I look up and I say, oh, David Letterman. And it's his show that he's. has on Netflix. And I said, you don't know who David Letterman is?
Starting point is 00:06:03 She's like, no, I have no idea. So then I tell her about all the late night. And I'm like, you know, start rattling off other hosts. And she doesn't know who anybody is. She's like, I think I missed all that. Yeah. It's like, okay.
Starting point is 00:06:15 Crazy. Well, that's like my kids in Charles Barkley and, like, Shaq. They're like, oh, the guys on TV. Like, they were some of the greatest basketball players ever. To us. Yeah. Yeah. They shouldn't know Johnny Carson or Jay Leno.
Starting point is 00:06:27 But she did know the Jimmy's. like Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon. They're probably old to her. They're probably like Johnny Carson to us. It's something we call Bobby Mailbag. Hello, Bobby Bones.
Starting point is 00:06:43 I've been in a long-distance relationship for a year. My boyfriend recently asked me to move to a city. I love them. Want to be with them. I have a great job, though, in a support system
Starting point is 00:06:52 where I currently live. Moving would mean starting over in many ways. Should I take the plunge and move for love or is it too big of a risk? Does my boyfriend asking me to move
Starting point is 00:07:01 knowing what it will cost me means he cares less about my concerns signed long distance lover okay so on a long distance relationship i've often made the terrible analogy of it's like a hamburger um you have to have you know the bun that's the meeting the beef the love the the whatever does it keeps you together and the other side of the bun which is how you're going to end up completing that hamburger are you going to move to the same place are you going to live in two different you have to have some sort of end in sight. And if you've been together for a year, it's probably time to start figuring out how this relationship is going to be whole or not whole at all. Now, I don't know the specifics
Starting point is 00:07:42 on whose job won't let them move or why or how important it is. However, if this is something that you think you could, I would say probably with the probability percentage of over 84% being, this could be the person you marry. One of you needs to move. That could be you. The third, the things that you will regret most in life, and I'm not just saying this, the things that you will regret most in life, not making bad decisions, but not making any decision, not trying something, not putting yourself out there, not being vulnerable, not moving. You'll hate those more than you would if you move and it doesn't work out because then at least you know. So I'm going to encourage you this support system that you have. You're going to have two or three different support
Starting point is 00:08:28 systems as you get older. Some of them, some people will move in, some will move out. Sometimes you'll move. The support system will be there for you. Regardless, that job, you have to figure that out. But I'm going to say, if you're even thinking about it, it means you probably want to, don't let a job and a support system that will support you. That's why they're a support system. Don't let it hold you back from, you know, taking a big risk. You don't get, you don't have great wins without great attempts. So go for it unless you decide to do like a credit check and he's way in debt. No. That's a big one.
Starting point is 00:09:05 But I say what you will regret is not doing something. Not doing something and then doing it wrong. Which ultimately that's the bigger risk is you risk later in life. Like, oh man. What did I miss out on? Because I wasn't willing to take a risk at the time. So many desserts I didn't eat that I was like maybe I regret just not doing it. But seriously, to everybody else.
Starting point is 00:09:26 out there that's listening. You will regret so many things that you didn't try more than you did trying and doing it wrong. Because even if you do it wrong, you learn something from it. Go for it. Or make him move. But I don't know those dynamics job-wise. But you need a plan too. Like I get super practical here. You have to have a plan. You've been together a year. Even if you don't move, you need to figure out a plan for you too. Whatever it is. All right, thank you. That's the mailbag. Close it. We've got your email and I'm to close Bobby's mail bag. Eddie has a hair system. Some people will call it a toupee.
Starting point is 00:10:00 Some people will call it a wig. It's not called a hair system. The system. Dude, it does look good. Thank you, man. And yesterday I was giving you kind of a hard time because you don't know how to fix it yet because it looks like a dweeb. I thought it looked good. The hair looks good, but this is the great thing about hair.
Starting point is 00:10:15 You get to like do different stuff with it. You style it, man. Because you have it just like right across the front. No, no, no, no, no. It's got on the side. And like smushed down for that. You just need a little bit of texture in that, not. a cut.
Starting point is 00:10:30 Amy, how would you explain? Just not as straight of a line across the front. It's smushed down with a straight line. Like there's gel and sweat or something. And then it's like... You just need a little messy. It just needs a slightly messier. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:43 So tell me about your new hair and what life has been like. You've been bald for a long time. And you've only been wearing a hat or been bald. What's it like having hair? It's different. I mean, it's a lot to get used to, man. I mean, I think the first thing that stands out is that I have to set my alarm a little earlier now because I have to fix my hair.
Starting point is 00:11:00 Okay, 45 seconds. No. Dude, it takes a little while to get this thing going because like she said when she put this on, I'm going to have bedhead. I wake up and my hair is boom. That's cool. And I look in the mirror like, who is this guy? Welcome to the world, baby.
Starting point is 00:11:14 You've arrived. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. There's that. But you don't remember because at one time in your life you had hair. It's not like you grew a third arm. I'm going to say when I graduated high school is probably the last time I had hair.
Starting point is 00:11:23 Okay. Okay. Also, too, a bad hair day is a real thing. Some days it's just the humidity. I agree. It's wrong or whatever. And the hair starts getting out of place. And you look at it, you're like, ooh, got to get my comb out and fix that.
Starting point is 00:11:35 So I didn't know that. You'll really ruin your day. What about hats now? Will you wear hats at all? Yeah, I have to wear my hat when I drive in the Jeep because if I don't, it's going to like throw up. I saw an Instagram story of you driving with your top down and your hair blowing in the wind. Yeah, yeah, that's cool. Yeah, I like that's cool.
Starting point is 00:11:51 It's cool. It's cool while you're driving. But then when I get there, it's like, whoa, man, the hair really got up there. I got to fix it. I mean, it's real human hair. So I'm wondering if the person who's hair that was. Like, did they, because, like, my hair's really curly. We have the guy on the phone that gave you the hair.
Starting point is 00:12:05 And so, like, yeah, I've always been jealous of girls who, when they go outside and it's humid, their hair doesn't impact them at all whatsoever. And so, dang, it looks like you got some maybe curly hair. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then you guys a little stranglers that kind of hang out, that poke out a little bit. Overall thoughts on having hair now for the first time in your life. I mean, overall, it's pretty cool. Like overall, this is a life changer for me to even...
Starting point is 00:12:30 One through 10, 10 meaning your life is fully changed. I'd say seven. That's pretty solid. I'd say seven. Has your wife come around? No. No. No, my wife still don't like it.
Starting point is 00:12:40 Anyone else? Like, my wife's the only one where like still yesterday she looked at me and laughed. And that's like, sometimes I forget I have hair. Like, so I don't even know. I'm like, what are you laughing at? And she says, I can't do it. I can't do it. My working theory, though, still is she can't like it too much.
Starting point is 00:12:55 because if she does, it's going to make you go, well, if I don't wear... I mean, we met when I was a senior in high school. If she loves it so much, you're going to be like, Amanda, so does she think I'm ugly if I don't wear this? I think she's playing it perfectly. And I know your wife, brilliant.
Starting point is 00:13:13 She's brilliant. She's hilarious. Wait, you don't think, because also knowing his wife that it's just genuine and she loves him for exactly how... I think she's strategizing right now. Oh, okay. She said that she misses my forehead, because like she said that this hair covers half of my forehead for most of my life dude
Starting point is 00:13:30 that's that the way you haven't styled. Yeah, there's a lot on your hair like that. Guys, the cap starts right there. I can't do anything else. This is what it is. No, I think you can do a little bit with this down here on the coin. You can. Here's another thing too.
Starting point is 00:13:45 It's starting to peel a little bit. I've had to re-glued it. There was one night I was like turning around in my bed and I kind of felt a little shit like, oh no, it's going to fall off. Oh, you fell in a cap? Yeah, because it's kind of a cap. cap and with hair on it. Oh, it doesn't look like you're wearing a hat.
Starting point is 00:13:58 Anyway, I like it. It's not even weird to me anymore. It's a little weird still to me. But it should be. But I think you look 10 years younger. Agree? Yeah. You don't think 10?
Starting point is 00:14:11 I don't know. I feel weird now commenting about Eddie's hair. Why? There's a whole bit on the show that it was free and open. Yes, free and open. But then now I'm just like, I, similar to his wife, want him to feel good no matter what. This is what good people do, Eddie. They want you to feel, I'm telling you it looks awesome.
Starting point is 00:14:25 Awesome. It never changed. I feel like whenever I watched it back, or listen to it, like my reaction, I was like, that was a, I went a little too hard because then it made him feel ugly in the past. Yes, and that's not the case. Like you looked good before too. Yeah, because you were really excited. Hey, let's be honest, you look fine before. You look great now. You're a great person though. And that's all that matters. Thank you, man.
Starting point is 00:14:48 But it does matter a little more. Your hair looks good. I have hair, dude. It's great. Do you want to keep it? I think you should keep it. I don't know. I'm still on the fence. We'll see. We'll see. I mean, I'm enjoying it that I have it.
Starting point is 00:14:58 I'm not like taking it for granted that I have this. Dude, I'm going places. I'm wearing the hair out and showing people that I have hair. If you walk around the mall, that's where those model scouts find people. Oh, yeah. Just go walk around the mall and they'll be like, hey, you ever talk about modeling? I got a feeling that's coming your way, buddy. All right.
Starting point is 00:15:12 It's time for the good news. With producer Eddie. Yeah, home it's not been good. Xavier is six years old. He lives in Orlando, and he was going to graduate from kindergarten. But you know what? His mom said, oh, but I'm so sorry. your cousins getting married in Puerto Rico.
Starting point is 00:15:29 So we're going to have to miss your ceremony. He was bummed. But she said, you know what? Let me pack your cap and gown. And maybe when we go to Puerto Rico, we can like do it over there. Better. They go to the airport. They're getting on the plane.
Starting point is 00:15:40 They're flying frontier airlines. And the mom's like, hey, let's take a picture with the pilot. And the pilot goes, oh, look, you're cute with your little cap and gown. What happened? Oh, I miss my graduation ceremony. So what did the airline do? They said, don't worry. We're going to have one on the plane.
Starting point is 00:15:54 So 30 minutes before landing on the flight, they play. And they called them down the aisle and the game is diploma. That's super fun. A. B. If I'm trying to take a nap, I'm probably not a fan of it. But otherwise, I love it. But you're about to land anyway. I like that. I like that. That's super cool. They didn't have to do that. That is what it's all about. That was Tell Me Something Good. The easiest trivia game in the whole wide world is next Easy Trivia.
Starting point is 00:16:22 I'm going to ask you a question that I thought was too hard for Easy Trivia, but barely. Ooh. You guys can just buzz in with your name. What's the largest organ inside the human body? Eddie. So skin is the biggest period. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Inside, go. Your intestine.
Starting point is 00:16:39 Yep, large intestine. One of them. No, go ahead. Liver. Okay, did you just mimic me? I swear, that was coming out. Did you just mimic me? No, that was too close.
Starting point is 00:16:52 I can't prove that you were mimicking because that was so close. That was so close. I was delayed. Say a number one through 100. Sometimes I'm delayed. Four. Four. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:17:01 Oh, you didn't just guess four? No, see. But see, you always say four, so that's why I said four. Got it. Okay, I don't know. It just is a little delayed. So that was a little too hard. But the easiest trivia game ever is coming up next.
Starting point is 00:17:14 It's called Easy Trivia. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what you're saying. Yep, that's me. Clever Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits. the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football, or my career in sports media.
Starting point is 00:17:30 Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined. And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show. This is a place for raw, unfiltered conversations with some of your favorite athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated. We break down budgeting, financial discipline, and how to build real wealth, starting with the mindset shifts.
Starting point is 00:18:42 Too many of us were never, ever taught. Financial education is not always about, like, I'm going to get rich. That's great. It's about creating an atmosphere for you to be able to take care of yourself and leave a strong financial legacy for your family. If you've ever felt you didn't get the memo on money, this conversation is for you to hear more. Listen to Money and Wealth with John O'Brien from the Black Effect Network

We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games in the back of my Honda Odyssey. With all the snacks and drinks. Sidebar. Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? Oh, they had a bogo.

Starting point is 00:25:21 Step by step. That's what it's called. Oh, it's step. He added in his head. Eddie. Come on TV. What city is Family Matters set in? Chicago.
Starting point is 00:25:32 Correct. Let's go. Two left. What up, Amy? What's up? The category is science. Oh, boy. My favorite.
Starting point is 00:25:43 Amy, what's the freezing point of water in Fahrenheit? I'm going to say that, Amy, you got the good question. Eddie got the hard one. This is how it falls here. I don't want people to be yelling at me. Eddie, got the hard one coming around. I really yell. 32 degrees.
Starting point is 00:26:00 Eddie, what's the powerhouse of the cell called? What? Oh, I know this. The powerhouse? Of the two, you definitely got the harder one, yeah. What's a power house? What's the power? Well, and I can't give a hint.
Starting point is 00:26:10 What's the powerhouse of the cell called? I mean. The only thing I can think of is the nucleus because that's the brain of the cell. And the brain is the powerhouse. What a powerhouse is. All no, it's like Alabama, powerhouse. You know what I mean? What?
Starting point is 00:26:30 Like Alabama football. The powerhouse, a football. Okay. So is the nucleus, the Alabama of college football. Give me nucleus. So if I say if it's mighty, what is it? Mitochondria. No, no, no, you got the old S-end of the state.
Starting point is 00:26:46 Oh, no. Yeah, you got the old S-end of the state. stick on those questions. That's how it falls sometimes. Amy is our winner. Nice job. Here's Amy's pile of stories. So the Surgeon General wants to put a warning label on social media. There was a whole ride up in the New York Times about
Starting point is 00:27:03 it and he says it's time to require a warning label on social media platforms because it's associated with significant mental health harms, especially for adolescents. And so he feels like if every time you log on to it, if parents and kids see it, they'll be reminded.
Starting point is 00:27:20 Oh yeah. This is a quick. warning because stuff like that's effective on cigarettes. They've done the studies. And even though people still smoke, they are sometimes deterred because of the warning. I don't think it's the same cigarettes. You have to actively, physically, be a certain age to even go to the store. And pay for them. Yeah. They didn't do that to internet. They didn't do it to chat rooms. Highly addictive too. We could put that one on there. Listen, I honest to God, I can take my phone and throw it in a river and not even need it for eight hours. If I wanted it. I love my phone. I love it. I love it. If I could, and I never met my wife, who knows?
Starting point is 00:27:56 But I'm not addicted to my phone. There have been times where I've had to give my phone up for a week. This is what addicts say. Exactly. I heard someone say that about their cigarettes the other day. Right. I had throw these cigarettes away. It's called denial.
Starting point is 00:28:10 I for sure could take my phone, put it in a passing car, and let a drive off. And then you'll buy another one. And chase it. And then chase it. Whatever. It's fine. How long until you start, you know, shaking? Never.
Starting point is 00:28:25 I'm fine without my phone. I can't even say it. Okay, I get it. I get it. Okay, what else? Cops in Minnesota are no longer allowed to ask. Do you know why I pulled you over? And there are two main reasons for this.
Starting point is 00:28:40 Oh, that's funny. What if people, because maybe people will say stuff like, I just rob the store. Oh, no, your tell I was out. But all right, get out of the car. Right. The state doesn't want people incriminating themselves by making spontaneous confessions. I thought you want them to do that.
Starting point is 00:28:55 That's the whole point. I would say I figured it would be a group like ACLU that would say something like, hey, we don't want people confessing to stuff out of nowhere. Like, if they I mean, yeah, you kind of do want that. But that's a great point. Well, it is. Criminal justice
Starting point is 00:29:11 activists are definitely on board with this. They want people to be Mirandized. Which is your right. So if you have a right to be quiet and shut up or they'll take what you just said. That's how they say. He's in a court of law against you, stuff like that. So, this is only in Minnesota, so in any other states, they can still say, do you know why I pulled you over? Okay, then we should eliminate parents from asking kids.
Starting point is 00:29:33 Do you know what you did? Oh, no, no, no, no, no, we do. We need to pass that law, too. You tell your kid what they did, so your kid doesn't have to confess something they didn't do. Yeah, we don't have to Mirandize our kids. That's right, no culture. You have the right to shut up. Yes.
Starting point is 00:29:46 All right, go ahead. Post Malone finally shared a release date for his country. album. It's exactly eight weeks away from today, August 16th. Thank you very much. I think that's it. I'm Amy. That's my pile. That was Amy's pile of stories. It's time
Starting point is 00:30:03 for the good news. With lunchbox. Tell me something good. Virginia Hisslop is 105 years old, has two children, four grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. But she has one regret. Never getting her
Starting point is 00:30:21 master's degree from Stanford University. She did all the work back in the 40s, never submitted a thesis because of Pearl Harbor, the bombing World War II. So she married her husband, started having a family, never went back. But Stanford said, you know what? We no longer require a thesis. So you have completed all requirements to receive your master's degree. Oh, that's cool. I thought she was going to write a thesis.
Starting point is 00:30:45 Nope. And so she'd donned the cap and gown and she had a cane to walk up on stage. they gave her her master's degree. That's awesome. I mean, why didn't they do that back after the war was over? They probably just didn't think about it. They had to do a thesis back in. They changed the requirements.
Starting point is 00:31:01 And also, I'm sure that's not on the top of it, somebody's desk. Right. Somehow it got to them. And then they're like, let's do this. Good point. But it reminds me, and again, this doesn't end wonderfully yet, but it's setting itself up for quite the story. There was this guy that I knew who had gone to college and mostly graduated.
Starting point is 00:31:19 And it's three hours away. And he took a job on a radio show and podcast. And it did pretty good for himself. And still three hours away. And everyone was like, you should go back and get your degree. Your kids will think a lot of you maybe. And he was like, I don't need a degree. And he says, degrees are stupid.
Starting point is 00:31:37 And then he still doesn't have it. And that person is lunchbox. All he needs is one class. He can be her. Or when he's old, the University of San Antonio, whatever. University of Texas at San Antonio. What are they going to say? We don't now require you to finish.
Starting point is 00:31:49 to get your degree? Oh, they may change requirements. Maybe you need less hours to get a degree. But don't count on that. You should just take the one class and get your degree. Man, when would I have time to study? You take three hour and afts every day. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:00 And that's why you don't have time. Exactly. All right, there you go. That's what it's all about. That was Tell Me Something Good. This is Alan from Southern Oregon. Why is it so hard to lie to an X-ray technician? Because they see right through you.
Starting point is 00:32:15 Anyway, a long-time listener, first-time caller. I love you guys. This show is awesome. I start every day with you guys, and I appreciate you. Thanks, buddy. Here's another one. Hey, guys. Retired law enforcement here.
Starting point is 00:32:26 Lunchbox got a ticket for it's the wrong way on the street. I'm guessing that someone might have called. I'm sure it's a neighbor that's not too happy with them, and it's just using that to give lunchbox a little tickle. Wow. A neighbor that you know has you in the crosshairs. I don't think so because a neighbor across the street also got a ticket for parking the wrong way. And she said, I've been parking this way for 15 years.
Starting point is 00:32:48 You're going to represent her in court too? Oh, maybe I could do a... Class action lawsuit. Is that what it's called? Two people. I like that. What's the thoughts as of today? Pay it?
Starting point is 00:32:59 I still want to go to court, man. Lunchbox got a ticket for facing the wrong way in front of his house on his street. Yeah, and all the listeners are like, you had to park that way. You're so stupid. I didn't know you... I didn't realize that care. All the listeners? Every single one. Wow.
Starting point is 00:33:14 You guys. Like, I can't believe that's really a law in the neighborhood. Like, who cares in the neighborhood? I'm sure there's a reason as to why, like, pulling out against traffic, you hit somebody. I don't know. But I'm sure there's a reason for the law. But let us know whenever you decide what you're going to do. I will.
Starting point is 00:33:29 All right. Morning corny time. Let's go. The morning corny. What do you call a Spanish pig? Oh, feels risky. Come on. Go ahead.
Starting point is 00:33:40 4K. I like that. That was the morning. That was the morning. Corny. My limit is Spanish. Porque means why? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:51 Why? Yeah. Yeah. I got real good going, bonjour. You don't say bonjour. It's bonjour. What do you mean?
Starting point is 00:33:58 Morning. Good morning. Bonjour. As in France. Bosois. Bonsova. Oh, we, we, we, we, we. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:04 Merci, miz. Misi, mizzie. They just kind of underneath their thing. Oh, Womomom. Parikwa. No, no. No. What is that?
Starting point is 00:34:13 No. What is it? They kick you out of France for that. You would not be welcome with France. Well, no. I mean, my children came here. Trust me, that's Creole. Did you learn any bad words in French?
Starting point is 00:34:22 Because you know, like, when people, they learn Spanish, they're like, oh, give me a bad word. Yeah, soccer. Call it football. Do not call it soccer. That's a bad word. I'll give you a little teasers. Number one, get this. Kmart, man, I used to go to Kmart all the time.
Starting point is 00:34:40 Walmart was first by far, but there was also a Kmart where some reason parking was bad at Walmart. Like a super full. You're going down to Kmart. But back in the day, there were 2,500 Kmart. K-Mart stores. Now there are six. Dang. They're three in the U.S. Virgin Islands and one
Starting point is 00:34:56 in Kendall Lakes, Florida, Long Island, New York, and Guam. That's wild. Six Kmart's. I've seen the one in Florida. Really? I mean, it's so rare. That's pretty cool. That's pretty cool. Get this. Cryptonite was invented by the people
Starting point is 00:35:09 behind the Superman radio show in 1943 so Superman could just groan in pain for a few episodes, and the voice actor could finally take a vacation. So they invented Kryptonite as the thing that killed him, just so He could go on vacation and the people could be like, ugh, that weren't him.
Starting point is 00:35:23 That's funny. And then finally, square dancing is the official dance in 24 states. Wow. Yeah, mostly because no one's updated. They're dancing, official states, but square dancing. Here's one more. Golf balls have an average of 336 dimples, but there is not a set number on a golf ball ever.
Starting point is 00:35:41 They have anywhere between 300 and 500. Wow. 500 dimples? But there's no set number on the golf ball. The dimples are just different sizes. Yeah, yeah, they'd make them smaller. Ball stay the same. It's fun to talk about it, though.
Starting point is 00:35:50 It's fun fact Friday. We all have our own. It's coming up next. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care which I'm saying. Yep, that's me. Clifford Taylor the 4th.

On a recent episode of the podcast Money and Wealth with John Hobriant, I sit down with Tiffany the budgetista Aliche to talk about what it really takes to take control of your money. What would that look like in our families if everyone was able to pass on wealth to the people when they're no longer here? We break down budgeting, financial discipline, and how to build real wealth, starting with the mindset shifts. Too many of us were never, ever taught.
Starting point is 00:37:24 Financial education is not always about, like, I'm going to get rich. That's great. It's about creating an atmosphere for you to be able to take care of yourself and leave a strong financial legacy for your family. If you've ever felt you didn't get the memo on money, this conversation is for you to hear more. Listen to Money and Wealth with John O'Brien from the Black Effect Network on the I'd Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. What's up? I'm Miles Turner. And I'm Brianna Stewart. And our podcast, Game Recognized Game has never been done before. Two active players giving you a real look at our lives and what
Starting point is 00:38:06 we actually think on and off the board. Nothing's off limits. We talk trade requests. What's the vibe of that when it's like your star players? like, well, I want to leave, and then actually now I'm going to stay. We talk tanking. I mean, honestly, like, I might get in trouble for this answer, but I think it's, like, definitely happening in the WBA. And yeah, we talk about our mistakes, too. They pulled me to the side and was like, hey, man, we got a call last night,
Starting point is 00:38:33 man, you can't be rolling around the city like this tonight before games, no, you know, doing this, doing whatever. And, of course, family stories. And we'll be like, mommy, why did you miss that? Mind, do you play basketball? Check out Game Recognized game with Stulian Miles on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Around the room with the most fun fact that you can find, I'll go first. Fun fact Friday, Wendy serves square patties.
Starting point is 00:39:03 Everyone's familiar, right? Yes. Do you know why they serve square patties? Because I did not. I thought maybe it was a packaging thing or it was just to be dead. That's what I thought. Anybody know why Wendy's started doing square patties? No.
Starting point is 00:39:21 It would be different. Yeah, I thought that too, and I was wrong. Who knew? To show their company doesn't cut corners. Oh. Symbolism. Come on. Come on.
Starting point is 00:39:32 Tell me that ain't cool. We don't cut corners. We don't cut corners. How about, let me give me another one. Sardines. Anyone never caught a sardine? No. Like fishing?
Starting point is 00:39:39 No. No. Sardines are not a species of fish. What do you mean? What? There are at least 22 different types of fish that are used to make sardines. Oh. Oh.
Starting point is 00:39:50 So when you buy the can, they're all different kinds of fish. Sounds to me like they're just smushing up a bunch of fish I didn't want to use anywhere else. It's like a hot dog. Do you guys like sardines? No. No. But I think that I was soured on them before I even knew what it was because they were like in jokes. I always like, oh, you like sardines on your pizza?
Starting point is 00:40:07 Like old, like 90s TV shows. So I think my brain was like, you won't like them regardless. But they're pretty salty, right? Like, it's just a little whole fish, man. I mean, it's the whole thing. You just put it on a cracker or in your mouth. How is that not a real fish? Are they shaping a fish?
Starting point is 00:40:22 No, I think they're just saying they're different kinds of fish, not a sardine fish. Oh, I thought they were like taking like little part, like just like hot dogs. No, man. Yeah, that's what I'm seeing. That's what you're just saying. I think you interpreted it correctly, Eddie. There are 22 different types of fish that they take and they can say this is a sardine. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:38 Oh. Amy, fun fact. Go ahead. So NASA had to rename the sizes of the apparatus that they used. used for male astronauts to urinate in. There was a small, medium, large. Oh, wow, no, you don't want that. I'll take the small.
Starting point is 00:40:52 No, you're going up to space. You say large, so you don't embarrass? You have anything bigger? What's the biggest size? You got the magnum? So the original sizes were small, medium, large. Oh, no. Then no, no one wanted to pick their actual size. So they changed the sizes to large, gigantic, and humongous.
Starting point is 00:41:11 I'm still going, humongous. Humongous. But at least if, yeah, you can say large. Dudes are stupid. I know. Yeah, yeah, yeah. While we let dudes control astronauts. All right.
Starting point is 00:41:22 Next up, lunchbox. The world's oldest divorcees were a 99-year-old man and his 96-year-old wife who separated in 2011 after more than 75 years of marriage. Wow. Because the 99-year-old man found love letters she had written to a secret lover back in the 40s. In the 40s. You can't even blame. like AI. No, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:41:49 Love letters. After being together that long. 75 years, 99, he said, I'm out. I made it that far, man. Why just kind of let it go? Does it hurt you that much? I mean... I'm trying to do the math.
Starting point is 00:42:01 Were they together in the 40s, or was he... Obviously. Yeah, it's 75 years. Well, some people get upset about things you wrote before. Okay, you can't do that. That sucks. Yeah. Like, imagine her.
Starting point is 00:42:13 She's probably forgotten about it. She's probably forgotten everything. Oh, yeah, yeah. Well, why would she keep the letter? Okay, Eddie. The average adult spends more time on the toilet than exercising. So on average, an adult will spend over three hours on the toilet per week, but only half an hour exercising. Come on, guys, we can do better than that.
Starting point is 00:42:31 Which part, toilet or extra? The exercising. Morgan. The Matrix Code. Has everybody seen The Matrix movies? Yeah, little green numbers that come down? That comes down. It's actually sushi recipes.
Starting point is 00:42:41 So they, like, created it just to show a complex code, but it's actually sushi. Shushi, I can't say sushi. Sushi recipes. You can't, and that's fun. It's fun that you can't say that. Lamborghini originally made tractors and air conditioners before they got into cars. So if you had a Lambo air conditioner, you'd be like, I got a Lambo. Or a Lamborghini tractor.
Starting point is 00:43:02 That goes really slow. So, baby, I got a Lambo at the house. She gets there. Check it out. There's only one person who ever played in the World Series of baseball, Amy. And the Masters golf. Yeah. Did both.
Starting point is 00:43:17 played in the World Series and competed in the Masters of Golf. It must have made a long time ago. Sammy Bird played with the Yankees. They won the World Series in 1932. Then he quit to play golf. Then he won 11 tournaments and finished third in the Masters in 1941. Thanks, Sammy. Also, he was a guy that old lady wrote to, got her divorced from my husband.
Starting point is 00:43:33 He's the dude. Dear Sammy, I watched you on the Victrola. Fun fact, Friday. A reminder, Amy has her own show. It's called Four Things with Amy Brown. They get deep into the weeds. They do therapy stuff. They do crying.
Starting point is 00:43:48 They do, I don't know. I think you'll like it. It's not always like that. So, so, like, emotional. But it's really good. And for those of you guys that haven't checked it out, I just want to play you a clip. And maybe it makes you go and subscribe to Amy's podcast called Four Things with Amy Brown.
Starting point is 00:44:03 Because something that is launching today as you're listening to this, our patriotic pimping joy line went up today. And this is something we've been doing for years. This fall, 10 years ago, my mom, Adeline's Marmee, her grandma, passed away from cancer and Pimpin' Joy was born. And it was born because of Marmee's journey and her ability to spread joy while she was at M.D. Anderson undergoing chemo, radiation, all the things. And the joy did not come from her. Joy came from the Lord. And her mantra was Nehemiah 8.10. That was a difficult season for us for sure. But it's so bittersweet now to have these
Starting point is 00:44:44 launches where we put out hats and shirts where 100% of the proceeds go back to whatever the cause is. And every summer the Bobby Bone Show and the shop forward, we partner with building homes for heroes and build a veteran a home, an ADA certified home. So those shirts went up today. We called the veteran, he's on the Bobby Bone show and the veteran had no idea he had been selected. So it's really special and fun to see that this movement started with mom's decision to spread joy during a very difficult time and to choose joy for herself mostly. It wasn't always. Like, we acknowledged the hard times for sure.
Starting point is 00:45:25 Adeline and I were talking about bittersweet moments in life. Marmee's definitely a bittersweet moment for you. You were 11 when she passed away. The first hard thing that I had ever really gone through in life. And then now here you are living with me in Nashville, helping launch the new patriotic line. We did a fun reel together that went up. Adeline did the creative work on it. She put together the reel. And so for you, when you're looking at that, I don't know if you're like, oh, this is so neat.
Starting point is 00:45:53 Sort of a complete moment. You're grown up. You're doing an internship and still working on a project that has to do with your army. Yeah, it's crazy. Listeners are a crucial part of the give back component of this. All proceeds go to the cause. But without listeners, we don't have donations to make. you can spread joy to others and it doesn't cost you a dime. A lot of the joy that my mom was spreading at the hospital. She would talk to people in the waiting room that didn't have family members there with her. One thing about mom is she never attended any appointment alone, ever. There was always somebody. Oh, I did not know that. There was always somebody that went with her, including dad, my dad, your papal. And they were divorced. But he was part of her team. She had to drive from Austin. to Houston and he was her escort at times. And so that was a cool full circle moment. You know, that's bittersweet. Cici and I, your mom, we had to go through them getting divorced and not having a relationship at all to then when she's on her deathbed, dad finally apologizing for some stuff that she had forgiven him four years ago, but she waited for him for a very long time to come back.
Starting point is 00:47:08 And he never did. And that was her choice. And I think she probably regrets that. I wish she would have moved on and dated and done her own thing. And then when he got divorced from his fourth wife, you know, Pappall was trying to come back and date Marmee when she had cancer? Yes. Okay. Yeah. And she was like, I'm a little busy now. But really, it wasn't that she was just busy with the cancer. She knew in her heart, like, oh yeah, I would have taken you back. But also now at this point in my life, I have forgiven you. And if I'm going to date somebody, I want to be with someone that can ignore. knowledge when they've hurt somebody and say they're sorry. And he had not done that yet. And when
Starting point is 00:47:46 Marmee was on hospice, he went up to her and he was brushing her hair and Christine and I got to witness it. I keep using different names. I keep saying, your mom, Christy, C, C, that's all the same person. And Marmee and mom all the same person. Pau Paul is my dad, Adeline's grandpa. So, also known as Harvey. I don't know. There's so many names. K. Bueno. So, we got to witness that. That's a bittersweet moment. Like it sucked. We were sitting there watching our mother die, but we're seeing our dad finally say, I'm sorry. I messed up. That wasn't fair to you. Will you forgive me? That's an example of something that's bittersweet. And so, yeah, on a Pimp and Joy launch date, it's bittersweet. Do I wish my mom was here? Absolutely. Yeah. Is it cool to see all.
Starting point is 00:48:41 the good that has come from Pimp and Joy. And that Pimp and Joy wouldn't exist without her cancer journey. And then ultimately her passing away, she never even saw any merch. Like the two weeks before we launched the hat, she passed away. She got to see the prototype. Yeah, yeah. She only saw it like with the patch, like stuck on with tape. It wasn't even done. But she made it ourselves. She did get to see it. And the shop forward's been an amazing partner on that. And the Bobby Bone show listeners just blow us away every time. Like it's just really, really cool. And this line that launched today, Bobby's wife, Caitlin, designed it. It's so cute. You have to go look at it. Go look at the reel that Adeline Healthwood. At Radio Ameet is my Instagram handle. And you can hit
Starting point is 00:49:28 up bobbybones.com or the shopforward.com. But it's such a, it's a bittersweet day. These launch days are bittersweet for us. I have on the, it's American shirt right now. It says it on the front and on the back it's a statue of liberty with Pimp and Joy. The material is so great. Like I love the hoodie option. There's a beautiful burgundy sweatshirt color. It's like maroon. Maybe I love it because I'm an Aggie. It's beautiful. I liked the alliteration of beautiful burgundy. But go check it out. The burgundy hat too with the red Pimp and Joy. It's so cute. I just want to wrap up the whole with the Pimp and Joy launch and talking about dreams and bittersweet. the research paper I did, I think it'd be good to read my short little conclusion paragraph
Starting point is 00:50:15 because it sums up everything we've talked about. Yeah. And Pemjoy. But I just wrote, my grandma passed away one morning just hours after I kissed her on the cheek before getting dropped off at school. I remember her so delicately whispering, I love you in my ear, struggling to say it loud enough for me to even understand. My grandmother is the reason that I want to live a life where I fall on my dreams,
Starting point is 00:50:34 where I stay in touch with friends, and where I remember to never let work take control. The thing is, I would have never. guess that she had regrets nearing the end of her life. I was just 11 and thought that she hung the moon. While she may have left with regrets, I live in her legacy to love the way she did and to write a story that is worth telling generations down the line as she is done with Pimp and Joy. And that is exactly what she has done through the story that she lived and now through Pimp and Joy. And even with regrets that she did have, she still has left a legacy that we all get to follow. And that is the end of the first half of the podcast.
