Starting point is 00:02:30 Hi, Stacey, what's happening? Nothing much. How are you? Really good. I'm glad you called. What do you want to say? Well, I just wanted to ask Bobby how his dog hunting is going. Oh, like looking for a dog, not dog hunting. Yeah. That would be the worst kind of hunting. Yes.
Starting point is 00:02:49 It's going. I mean, I am very open to it. I mentioned to Amy that, well, first I said on the year, if I got a million followers on Instagram, that it was time to get a dog. and so I did get a million and so I'm there right like I'm looking for a dog I did have a friend who said we have a puppy my dog had puppies we had a puppy would you like one of these puppies and then I said possibly so I'm really close Stacy I'm really close I would say so is it a Frenchie that you're getting it is not an English bulldog and they are wonderful it's not a Frenchie I'm going to wait and before I say what kind of dog it is Make sure I get it. Because I don't want to say. Oh, got it. But who, what happens first? Do I get a dog or does Ramundo propose to his girlfriend?
Starting point is 00:03:37 What happens first? You get a dog. I think, I think you should get a dog first. Ramundo, are you going to propose in the next month? Most likely not in the next month. Okay. Maybe a couple months. Give me that, yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:50 A couple months. Oh, really? Wow. Okay, do I get a dog in the next? So let's go again. Do I get a dog first or does Ramundo propose? I think you should get a dog. I mean, I think you should get a dog.
Starting point is 00:04:00 I think that you're probably in end up with a dog before he proposes. Okay. There we have it. That's the update, Stacey. Stacey, what would you recommend? What kind of dog are you saying? I have an English bulldogs, and I think Frenchy bulldogs are great also. And I'm open to lots of things.
Starting point is 00:04:17 So we'll see what happens. I feel like whatever dog that is is going to step in my life and be like, and be like, that's the one. So thank you, Stacey. Hope you have a wonderful day. Thanks for calling the show. Speaking of Ramundo and engagement, you know, later on Dave Ramsey, he's going to be in. Mr. Money Guy himself.
Starting point is 00:04:32 He sold like 11 million books. He has a national radio show. And we'll ask him, how much should you spend on a ring? Because they say two or three months salary, whatever that commercial is. We'll talk about how much you should spend on a house based on how much you make, your car. We all have questions for him. He'll be in on the Friday morning conversation
Starting point is 00:04:47 later on, so I hope you be here for that. Here's the Bobby Bone Show podcast, highlight segment of the day. I was watching the office last night before I go to bed. Starting point is 00:12:23 King Callaway. Here they come back in the studio. Hey, what up, boys. Hey, Captain. Hey, Caleb, where are you? Come up, come on this microphone, Kayla. Let me talk to you first. I'm a big fan of this band,
Starting point is 00:12:33 but Caleb just graduated high school. Yeah, I did. Oh, congrats. That was cool. That was cool. Yeah, all the guys were there for it. Yeah, and the whole band goes to your high school graduation. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:42 They were, like, celebrities there. They, like, had security and everything, and, like, the whole town went insane. It was so cool. And I was number one in the class. So I gave a speech. What? So that was cool, yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:52 So like valedictorian? Yep, that's it. How did you remain valedictorian even though? I kept a 4.0. So even though you're traveling with the band? Yeah. Remember, Caleb's the one who when he was 13, he started playing like session guitar. Like he's super smart.
Starting point is 00:13:07 Well, obviously. If you wouldn't have done King Calloway, like what was the plan? Literally nothing. I had no plan B. It was just do music or I don't know. Do nothing. I literally had no backup plan. King Calloway's here
Starting point is 00:13:20 And by the way I'll play a little bit A world for two This song is such a jam boys You know I love it right You guys know I love it right So much has happened The first ever interview you guys did
Starting point is 00:13:33 In your whole world Was here on this show And so I'm excited to talk to you guys To talk to you guys Got to open for Garth Brooks Which has been crazy Chris I'll talk to you for a second Yeah
Starting point is 00:13:43 You go out to open for Garth What city was that Was that Minneapolis? Yeah that was Minneapolis And how many people are there Like 77,000, something like that. And Garth is really cool too. Like since we were opening for him, he said, we're going to wait until it's full.
Starting point is 00:13:55 I don't want you to go out until like, you know, like only a third of it full. He was like, I want to wait and you guys go out to a stadium full of people. Oh, wow. And you know what else Garth did? I'd never heard of Garth doing this before in my life. But Garth went out before his show and like set them up. He did, yeah. So, yeah, all of a sudden we were walking through the tunnel and it was all of a sudden we started hearing.
Starting point is 00:14:18 how loud it was, and then we take a peek out, and there were so many people, and I think all of our hearts fell into our stomach. And then all of a sudden, Garth was there, and he asked for a hot mic, and we were like, what is he doing? This is before the, by the way, the opening act goes on, the main act goes, hey, I want to go out. Yeah, and then he said, I'm going to do something I've never done in my career before. And then all of a sudden he just leaves. We're like, what? What is he about to do? And he goes out and talks. He goes home? Yeah, yeah. But he did, and that kind of gave us. a lot of, like, you know, energy to go out and kill it
Starting point is 00:14:50 because he was kind of telling them like Vaginforce, like, hey, these guys, I like these guys. Which, you know, his fans are so loyal to him. We were like, that was cool. Yeah. That was awesome. On the Bobby Bones show now. King Callaway. You guys have done so much.
Starting point is 00:15:03 You made your Opry debut, which is pretty cool, right? So, I mean, and I've walked out, and I've played the opera a little bit now, which for me is crazy because I listen to it growing up my whole life. And so, Chad, I'll talk to you for a second. What's it like going out and hopping on the opera stage where like hundreds of superstars have been. And nerve-wrecking.
Starting point is 00:15:22 Like, it was very, walking out on stage, I was probably the most nervous I've ever felt, and most of us ever felt. But finally getting out there, like, seeing that we had, like, a good amount of people there who were there to support us, basically. Like, that was really nice,
Starting point is 00:15:36 like hearing them out in the audience. And so we got to do that in March. We just recently got to do that in June, both times with Ricky Skaggs, who was just amazing. The second time we got to play with him, actually, which was unbelievable. and he's just been such a big supporter of us, big influence for us,
Starting point is 00:15:51 and it was amazing, amazing opera experiences. And you guys are coming back in a few weeks, and we're actually going to do the actual release of Seven Bridges Road, what you guys did with Ricky Skaggs. I actually have a little bit. I'm going to play just a little bit of it now. It's not out, but I'm going to play a little bit of it for our listeners now, just so they can hear.
Starting point is 00:16:07 By the way, Seven Bridges Road is an Eagle song. Yes. And you guys are, because you guys all, which is crazy about these guys. There's six of them, but you all sing. You all sing, and you're all proficient players. and Ricky Skaggs, who is in the country music Hall of Fame, comes out to play with you guys.
Starting point is 00:16:22 And I'm just going to play a little bit. Okay. It's not available yet. Just a little sneakie. Down the seven bridges road. That's the opera crowd getting hyped. So you guys are going to come back when we officially get to premiere that. Everybody good for coming back?
Starting point is 00:16:46 Yeah, absolutely. I know we've got to line up six schedules, boys. Guys are going to be a big deal. All right, King Callaway is here. We're making the promise right now. You're coming back, though. Everybody good? Good.
Starting point is 00:16:55 Good bells on. Good to see you, boys. Thanks for stopping by. And we'll see in a few weeks. Any of anything you want to say to King Callaway before we... Well, I mean, they're just... I'm picturing them like, well, you know, when you see something in the beginning, like the beginning of a group that I loved a long time ago,
Starting point is 00:17:12 I feel like we're seeing the beginning of something like big, and I'm like staring it all of all... Especially you just graduating from high school. Oh, my gosh. Like, this is the beginning of something like really cool. and they're like the next big thing, and we had them in here first. There they are. The Bobby Bone Show.
Starting point is 00:17:26 Big three stories. Let's go over to Ray Mundo in the glass room with the news this morning. Yeah, in sports, congrats to Zion Williamson. He got drafted number one last night by the New Orleans Pelicans. In other news, officials are warning, be careful on the roadways today, dangerous weather in the Midwest, rain, hail, thunderstorms, all the things. And finally, if you didn't hear wildly popular avocados have been recalled, in particular if you have frozen signature salisels.
Starting point is 00:17:51 collect avocado chunks. Taking back for a full refund, you could get sick. Starting point is 00:21:07 That's AMU. That's a bobby-bonne show. We're bringing in the girl group here. The question is, Is it a red flag for you if your friends or family does not like the person you're with? So if you're with someone and your family's like, ooh, or your friends are like, ooh, is that a red flag? We'll bring it in the girl group now. First, to my left, my co-host, everybody's sad.
Starting point is 00:21:36 Amy, there she is. Amy, how are you? I'm doing really good. I am a mom of two, married for 12 years, and I am currently addicted to oatmeal in the morning. my new breakfast of choice. I have it. I keep it in a Yeti mug to keep it hot because we don't get to eat during the show. So, maybe I'll take it in the hall in a minute. In front of me, she sits her every day. She is the social media keeper, the website keeper, does all the digital. Morgan number two, everybody. Welcome, Morgan number two. Hello. Well, I'm 25 years old,
Starting point is 00:22:10 and I currently have a pet groundhog that's hanging out in my backyard in my new house. So cute. hilarious. I watch her into stories. That groundhog just, she's just, she's, chills. Oh, it's like he's my little pet now. He just hangs out back there. And also, finally, on the girl group, she works, and she does a lot of stuff from working on the countdown to editing to just all general show. That's what we call her Utility Hillary, because she does it all. There she is. Utility Hillary! Hi, I'm 26, and I would say my favorite album of all time would be Marin Morris's hero. Of all time. Yeah, I love that album. There you go. Okay, we're going to start with you, Amy. The question is, is it a red flag if your friends or family doesn't
Starting point is 00:22:48 like the person you're with? 100%. Wow. Yes. I mean, if you're close to your friends and family and you value their opinion and, like, if I guess if it's like friends, you don't really, you know. A friend is a friend though. A friend is a friend.
Starting point is 00:23:00 I mean, family you're kind of stuck with. But like for me, my family means a lot to me. Like there was a guy I brought home once that I had gone on a couple of dates with and I took him out to my dad's and like literally my dad kind of pulled me aside and he was like, what's up with this? He's like, not feeling it. Like, this is, are you serious right now? And I didn't go out with the guy anymore.
Starting point is 00:23:21 Like, it meant that much to me. Like, my family had to, like, be down with it, for sure. Would you have spent extra time trying to convince your dad, though? Maybe he just was a bad first look. No, my dad pointed out some things. I was like, you know what? Yeah, I think you're right. Like what?
Starting point is 00:23:33 Like, I guess, I mean, he's just, my dad, first of all, he's like, I have nothing in common with this guy. Like, I can't talk about anything. He's like, I tried to talk about the football game. And he said, what football game? And I'm like, okay. Like, I get it that it's just like a football game. But, like, my dad was just picking up on. signs that maybe it just wouldn't like the environment like he was sort of different than me
Starting point is 00:23:54 okay and he was like I just probably wasn't the right girl for him and that guy Matthew McConaughey that's right no he would know it is right like Morgan number two what do you think well I have dated two guys that my parents did not like and it did not last for much longer after I found out they didn't like them so I kept dating them against my parents' wishes and they were right I mean, they both ended up to be terrible people. Whoa. Dang. What was they say about you?
Starting point is 00:24:24 I mean, look, I'm sure I wasn't a saint in all situations, but they did some terrible things. And so my parents, they saw it coming way before I did. And they're like, you should probably break that off. But being the little bad child I was, I didn't listen for a couple months and then got my heartbroken. Interesting. You guys are kind of saying the same thing, but not really. Because Amy broke up immediately. Like, no more for me.
Starting point is 00:24:48 And mine wasn't really like, hey, this guy seems like he's bad. Like, we're not getting good vibes from him. It was that, like, he doesn't fit in with us. We can't have conversations with him. And yours was you should have listened and you didn't. Yeah. So now you look back and go, that's a red flag. Yeah, well, and I will say, like, if I would have broken it off when they said,
Starting point is 00:25:06 I probably would have regretted it. So, like, me doing that, I figured out for myself that I needed to do it. Twice. Yes. Would you do it again, though? No, I will listen. I will listen to my parents. You tell it to Hillary, what do you think about this?
Starting point is 00:25:18 I would listen to my family and friends because I feel like they know me better than anyone. And there have been guys before where my family and friends have all said he's not a good person or I don't see that working. Man, you guys have some hardcore people. Yeah, there was one I talked to for a little while and my friends and family tried warning me like he's just not a good guy and he ended up not being a good guy at all. So they were right. So I will always listen to my friends and family. You ever met a guy in me where you were just like, I'm going to do it anyway? I know what's in the
Starting point is 00:25:45 I mean my mom didn't like one of my boyfriend she didn't have a reason not to I stayed dating it like her reason was just like I just don't know she's like I really like him but I kind of felt like oh like this is someone I could be with forever and she didn't she called it she's like I just don't think that he's the one for you I remember her saying that
Starting point is 00:26:03 and I was like well mom you're wrong I mean we ended up breaking up but she never Mattie McConaughey No but she didn't have like a she liked him as a person she just thought he wasn't right for you. It wasn't right for me. And she was right. So what do you think? So we all say if your friends and family aren't down, you shouldn't be down? Is that what you're passing along to the next generation listening right now? Yeah, 100%. Are there any other red flags?
Starting point is 00:26:27 If a guy does something, you're probably like, ooh, you should probably check out. If I, if I, if I, I mean, like, well, you're a friend. Because I feel like, what you feel the same way? Do you take your friend and family's opinion? Not at first. I'd be like, you're not seeing what I see. wait a minute Wow Because I feel like If I were dating a guy And you were to be like
Starting point is 00:26:46 I'd be like your husband Amy I'm friends with your husband This is not cool No I mean Hypothetically If you being a good friend That knows
Starting point is 00:26:54 Like I feel like I would I would be like You know what If Bobby sees something weird Like this probably isn't gonna work Well if I knew something It'd be different But if I see something
Starting point is 00:27:01 I need to Not judge people so quickly I mean Morgan's parents Are just intuitive They like just knew Like mm-mm They're bad Background checked them
Starting point is 00:27:08 Probably And they're like waiting Yeah, you know, be, I'll say this, be a little weary around a guy that's always hiding his phone. Like, he shouldn't let you in his phone, but if he's at any point, there's a reason why. Like, if a guy's always got his phone upside down. Oh, yeah, technology these days. See, I didn't have to worry about that when we were dating. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:27 A guy that's always hiding his phone. Again, he shouldn't give you access to his phone. But if a guy's, every time you're with him, his phone's upside down, thumbs up. He doesn't want you to see something. Now, not if you're in a movie. Have you ever given it? access to a girlfriend like passcode? I haven't had a girlfriend since the pastcode.
Starting point is 00:27:45 No, I guess my last girlfriend with passcode. But you ever think passcodes on iPhones have been around for a few years. That's true. I've only had one girlfriend in last few years. Facial recognition. Now I'm going to give every girl a mask in my face. They can also get into my phone. I was going to be like, did phones allow more than one face to check into a phone?
Starting point is 00:28:04 Oh, they do? Oh, wow. That's what the kids these days. Are you going to give me facial recognition? How serious are you? it's like Amy's own black mirror episode right there. Yeah. The girl group, thank you very much.
Starting point is 00:28:17 Clap your hands for a girl group. There they are. I always felt like we learned a little something here. Starting point is 00:44:22 To go down the trash chute So everybody's standing around She gets in the trash chute And She goes down 16 stories into the trash Wow I mean, I wonder if she thought it was fun the whole time or if she thought a bad decision.
Starting point is 00:44:36 At what point are you freaking out or is it like, yeah. Haven't we all want to be like to go to the trash shoot? Yeah, sounds like a big slime. I guess I haven't really. Yeah, so what's the deal? She's expected to live. She's in the hospital, though? Yeah, she's in the hospital.
Starting point is 00:44:50 She got a couple bumps and bruises. Maybe like story four you think about it? 16's a lot. That's pretty high. All right, there you go. Lunchbox, thank you. I'm Lunchbox. That's your bonehead story of the day.
Starting point is 00:45:04 Here's Amy's pile of stories. Fun fact Friday. All right. Now, you keep going until they're not fun. I know. I feel like they're pretty fun today. All right, let's go. So when a secretary at Apple was late because of car trouble,
Starting point is 00:45:15 Steve Jobs gave her a jaguar and said, don't be late anymore. Wow. You don't do that. Like, if we're late, it's like. Yeah. But yeah, you don't do that. Why not?
Starting point is 00:45:26 I go, stop being late. The end. No, no, I go, go home. Right, you do. Yeah. Speaking of Steve Jobs and cars, he got a new Mercedes. every six months because a car didn't need a license plate until it was six months old.
Starting point is 00:45:38 Yeah, he didn't want people tracking them. So he just rotate them out. Yeah. That's another level. What else? So tennis balls were originally white, but they switched to yellowish, greenish in 1972 so they'd show up better on TV. Wimbledon kept using white balls until 1986.
Starting point is 00:45:56 Oh, I'm still using them. Got them. Good one, man. I haven't heard Ramo to chuckle on the very back. He's a tough laugh. All right, what else, Amy? So Target has its own forensic labs in Las Vegas and Minneapolis where criminal justice experts and forensic scientists solve crimes that happen at Target. What?
Starting point is 00:46:16 That's real? Yeah. And they also help out real law enforcement agencies when they need extra manpower or facilities. They'll volunteer. That's a TV show. That's a reality show. Yes, it is. Because I'm so intrigued by also true crime.
Starting point is 00:46:29 But true crime in the men's polo shirt style? Yep. Forensics. That I'm into. Wow, that's good. This is so fun. Give me more. Okay.
Starting point is 00:46:39 There's a phenomenon called latchkey incontinence. Okay, hold on, like a latchkey kid, but incontinence. To this. Go ahead. This describes the feeling that you feel when you have to pee worse, the closer you get to the toilet. Oh, yeah, that's a real feeling. Yeah. It's just your latchkey incontinence.
Starting point is 00:46:59 Not just number one, number two, too. Oh, I don't. But I would put that, like, when I work out. When I work out, I get so much more exhausted right when I'm about to finish, just because I know it's coming. Yeah. Same concept, I bet. That's where it goes to me. Like, I'm in, I've been doing the same. I should be fine. Right. I got like, I got like, oh, I don't know if I can do it. But if I had 10 minutes, I'd be fine doing it. With this, you've already held it for 30 minutes. But right when you see that toilet, you're like, I gotta go.
Starting point is 00:47:23 For me, the minute I start jump roping, I have to pee. Well, that's a whole thing, though. Amy got a trampoline to it like in one house. Yeah, I know. A little miniature one. Like, and I'd be like, and I'd be like, this is so annoying because they kept having to pee too much. All right, well, I'm going to call enough fun facts after that one. What? That one wasn't very fun to me.
Starting point is 00:47:40 It wasn't? I just thought it was interesting. Yeah, our bodies. That was good. Our bodies, our friends. Yeah, what else? Okay. So, Krispy Cream is giving away new filled donuts.
Starting point is 00:47:50 So the person. Yeah, Chris. Pea cream. Not Krispy Cream. But, so, Krispy Cream is filling their donuts to mark the 50th anniversary of the moon landing and to celebrate, they're giving these away for free. You can get your donut filled with either classic cream or chocolate cream. It's Saturday, June 22nd.
Starting point is 00:48:12 So that's tomorrow. Okay. So make sure you go by and get your donut and celebrate. We'll see how many much bucks can get without getting arrested? How cool that it's been 50 years since we landed on the moon? Or did we? I'm just kidding. I'm not starting that.
Starting point is 00:48:23 Oh, or you could, I guess to celebrate, you could watch that Lamo movie that Ryan Gosling did. Archie? Yeah, first walk or first step. And Amy hated it. I went over the house and I was like, oh, this is interesting. You have I was so excited to rent this. No, I thought what I saw was pretty good. I went to Amy's house and watched it. And I was like, it's pretty good.
Starting point is 00:48:39 She was like, this is the worst movie I've ever seen. Granted, I saw the last 20 minutes only. Yeah, Bobby got there for the good part where they like landed on the moon. But then everything before that, I'm like, God, you would think. I mean, Neil Armstrong had a pretty fascinating life. Just the way it was done. I just felt like it was a little boring. But who am I?

Starting point is 00:49:40 be so fun because I got to pee and it's close to I get to the toilet. Right. You can't hold it. It's fun to do this on a Friday. Go ahead. We can save it for a whole other segment. Fun fact, Friday segment. How many more do you have over there? Oh, a lot. Oh, save it then. Why don't we do? Okay, this is what's called a spin-off. Oh, okay. Oh, is that what it is? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:57 This is like class right now. Like, yeah, Laverne and Shirley, all of a sudden, Mork shows up. Morke and Mindy then happens. Oh, someone from another show comes into... A spin-off from, like something happens during this show, it goes like that show. But really, that was Happy Days, not Laverne and Shirley. But happy days happens. Mork shows up, then they go have Morke and Mindy.
Starting point is 00:50:16 Super dated reference, not the coolest. But we'll have our own Fun Fact Friday segment going out. Okay. Okay. So recollect your facts. Okay, feeling good. All right, that's Amy's Pyle. That was Amy's pile of stories. It's time for the good news.
Starting point is 00:50:30 With Bobby. An older man was treated by paramedics After his quick-thinking dog Showed emergency services Just where he was following a fall The man was out walking his dog Jack one night He fell into a ditch Jack ran into town
Starting point is 00:50:48 Just barking, barking, barking Goes up to some cops Barking, barking, barking These cops were like, I think sometimes I was up with this dog, we should follow him I gotta tell you, I don't know if I would be the case of me If a dog came barking to me I'd be like, you hungry? Come with me!
Starting point is 00:51:01 I would take the dog somewhere else. But yeah, so they followed Jack right to his owner. That's crazy to me. Yeah. And so the cops are like, all right, we need to help. They call paramedics. And then even when the ambulance arrived, the dog would not leave his owner's side. The man's
Starting point is 00:51:16 injuries were minor. He's on the men, but without the dog, you could have been there longer. That's an amazing story. I love that one. Go for that dog game. That was Tell Me Something Good. Now. The Morning Corny. What did one What do one volcano say to the other?

Starting point is 00:55:25 There. Come on over here, my friend. Let me read your resume as you walk in here. Dave Resumet, Dave Ramsey, I might as well call him Dave Resumet, has seven bestselling books, which have sold more than 11 million copies combined. Are you kidding me?
Starting point is 00:55:40 Is that real? Sometimes I'll inflate numbers. When I grow up, I'm going to be Bobby Bones. 11 million. By the way, the total money makeover sold over 5 million copies. That is insane numbers. Like, there are major artists. They can't sell that many records.
Starting point is 00:55:56 Yeah, if you work 20. 25 years, you're an overnight success. No, that I relate to. I'm so happy. I love it when you come in. You know that, right? Man, I love being with you guys. I even feel guilty.
Starting point is 00:56:05 Because I ask you about... I'm such a fanboy to the show. I just listen to it every morning than the way to work. You guys are awesome. Thanks. Let us ask you some questions. Then we'll let you lecture us a little bit.
Starting point is 00:56:16 That's what we do. We feel like we can only bring in a couple of times. Confessional on the Bobby Bone show. So let's talk about engagement rings for a second. Okay. Raimundo's about to get married. Hey, way to go, Ray. Congratulations.
Starting point is 00:56:28 He's about to propose. Engaged, yeah. Thank you. So it's a big secret, apparently. Well, she's ready. You're not saying when, right? We just don't say when, but it's obvious that it's going to happen very soon. Okay.
Starting point is 00:56:39 Okay, so the win is the surprise, maybe. She says she would accept just a ring pop at this point. Like, she's been vocal about wanting a proposal. Mm-hmm. And you've started a ring fund, which is up to $100. He's got $100 in the ring fund. Whoa. Right.
Starting point is 00:56:52 That's almost as big as his gambling fund. So what's kind of the rule. because you see on TV they say what, a couple months' salary? Yeah, the jewelry stores say three months, but I say one. One month salaries and engagement ring. Yeah, and diamonds are like jewelry. They, or diamonds are like jewelry. Of course they're like jewelry.
Starting point is 00:57:10 Diamonds are like furniture. They've got huge markup. And so where you buy it can be very, very important. Like a diamond broker or if you know somebody that knows a little bit about diamonds, even a high-end pawn shop, you can get stuff like a quarter on the dollar. and really legit stones in a good situation. And this idea that they go up in value, that's a bunch of crap. You know, Sharon, my wife's got, she's got them on her fingers,
Starting point is 00:57:35 she's got them in her ears and all that stuff. And the only thing goes up in value is her wanting them. That's it. They have everything easier. Okay, let me ask you this, because we were talking on the show about houses. And I was always told two and a half times your salary when I first started thinking about buying a house. When you buy a house, kind of what's that number based on what you
Starting point is 00:57:54 make. Well, the most you should buy, we say, is where your payment is no more than a fourth of your take-home pay on a 15-year fixed. And the reason for that is you want to get the house paid off because all the studies we've done with Chris Hogan's book, Every Day, Millionaire, and all the stuff on millionaires. The average millionaire is paying off their home in 10.2 years. And so you want to have the goal of getting the house paid off because that frees up a ton. That's your biggest payment, right? It's the biggest thing coming out of your budget. And if you don't have that, and instead, that goes into investing, boom, wealth happens. So we do want to get that house paid off as the goal.
Starting point is 00:58:27 It's not keep a mortgage forever and what's the most I can possibly choke down. No, we don't want to do that. So get it in a position on a 15-year fixed and then go ahead and work a little extra on it and get it knocked out in about 10. So because what I try to do a bit is pay off that interest? Oh, yeah. Boy, that's what it gets you. Man, it's real. I mean, and, you know, like Chris Hogan says, he's an interest when you pay it is a penalty.
Starting point is 00:58:50 And when you receive it in terms of if you've done investing, that's what's. It's called a blessing. So we want to be on the receiving end of that stuff rather than the giving end of that. Okay, we talked about engagement rings. We talked about houses. Cars. I was reading this thing that you had posted on social media. It says you shouldn't own anything with a motor that's worth over 50% of your annual income.
Starting point is 00:59:10 Yeah. Really, all the things with a motor added together. Motors and wheels. And, you know, I've got boats and C-Dos and cars. I love cars. I love cars. Especially loud mufflers. I drove down here in my Raptor, you know, that kind of stuff.
Starting point is 00:59:21 So got mud all over it. You know, so I'm that guy, right? But the problem is the stupid things go down in value, like a rock. That's where Chevy gets that. I mean, they go down in value. You know, it's unbelievable. And so you cannot get, you cannot build wealth when you're buying these huge things that are going the wrong way. So, you know, just got to be cool about your car.
Starting point is 00:59:41 Keep your total of your vehicles, including your John Deere mower, you know, everything with a motor in it at about 50% of your income or less. Everything. Everything. Everything. Boats, cars, sea dues, their sisters, the lawnmower, the tractor, whatever it is. you got to own, you know? Because if it's got a freaking motor in it or wheels on it, or it's going down in value. Like, Dave Ramsey is here. You say the best vacation is one that doesn't follow you home. You know, isn't that true? You ever get home and you get like a financial
Starting point is 01:00:07 hangover from your vacation? That's like Christmas, Christmas and vacation. It's like you finish and you have all these bills. It's got this bad taste in the back of your mouth. You got financial cotton mouth. You know what I mean? It's just like, ugh, gross. That was so fun, but I feel like a child now. I feel like I feel like I was inept. You know, I feel like I was four years old and just threw a fit in the candy store and now I got a tummy ache, you know? I mean, it's just, yeah. So, but when you can go on a really cool vacation and, you know, we've lived like no one else, so now we can live and give like no one else. So now you go on vacations and, man, they're pretty cool. It's fun. So you're saying when you, if you're not completely financially set, maybe you shouldn't go on this
Starting point is 01:00:45 crazy vacation that you have to put on the credit cards. If you got to put on a credit card, it means you can't afford it. I mean, you're borrowing money on vacation, really? I mean, you're going to, it's going to bite you later. What about points? What about points? Yeah, I know you hate points. Well, I don't hate them. I just think it's hilarious that everybody walks around and acting like they're getting rich on points. I mean, I've met with thousands of millionaires. Never did I meet one that go, Dave, you know, I made it all my travel points. That was my financial breakthrough, you know, never meet them. They just go, Dave, we lived on less than we made, and now we go anywhere we want to go. We drive anywhere we want to drive in whatever we want to drive. And we live in a
Starting point is 01:01:18 house and buy a diamond that we want to buy. You know, but for a while, you have to live like no one else. You got to pay the price to win at anything. You guys have paid a price for the success on the show. I mean, you guys have worked your butts off. I've watched you for all these years. And there's a price to be paid to win. You show up every day doing the smart things.
Starting point is 01:01:36 And that's true in the gym. That's true in the checkbook. And it's true in your career. It's true in your marriage. Dave Ramsey is here. Everybody has a question. They've all sent a question. Amy, your question for Dave?
Starting point is 01:01:45 Yeah, so we have two kids. We've had them for about a year and half and they're in a junior high elementary school. And like when should we start saving for their college or even though they're years from it? Or should we? I mean, what if they decide not to go to college, which I guess we would have to be okay with? But I don't want them to feel like they have to and then we can use that money for something else. But do parents need to be on top of this? Yeah, sure.
Starting point is 01:02:12 Because you want to have the option. Yeah. I mean, if you're sitting there with a pile of money, there's options. If you're sitting there broke, you don't have options. So go ahead and pile up some money and get ready. And then you can choose to be a blessing. In our case, our kids got their college paid for because they were behaving. But the way you earned the Ramsey scholarship from your dad, Dave, right, from your Rachel Cruz, right?
Starting point is 01:02:38 Right. Is you, you were freaking walking the straight and narrow. You're behaving because I'm not going to finance you going down there and playing beer pong. Right. You know, so you got, you know, these are good people. now, and they know how to work, and they know how to save, and they're responsible young adults. That was a precursor to that. In that case, then, we weren't, quote, spoiling them by paying for their college. So we paid for their college. And it set them up to come out, of course, school, debt-free, and then they get to start their lives.
Starting point is 01:03:04 So it's a cool thing to have as an option. Isn't it weird you can be 18 years old as you talk about college and debt? And I think a lot of people run into a lot of debt quick because they say, hey, you're 18. You're not old enough to go by alcohol, but you are old. enough to make a decision to put yourself $60,000 in debt for an education. 160, yeah. And the dumb thing about it is we the taxpayers are doing this. Everybody's walking around saying how bad the student loan program is, how it's an epic failure, how it's a plague on society. And yet Congress just continues to write these deadgum checks. I mean, we've lost our minds. I mean, we're letting an 18-year-old go $160,000 in debt to get a degree in left-handed puppetry. I mean, this is stupid. This is just dumber than dirt. It really is.
Starting point is 01:03:44 And so we've got to stop. And, of course, the colleges, they'll feed on this money like a hog of a trough, right? So they jack the prices up because they got money coming at them like they're printing it. And so the whole thing is seriously broken. Congress needs to end the student loan program. It's a disaster. It's an absolute disaster. Lunchbox has like nine questions.
Starting point is 01:04:03 Lunchbox, you know, you can ask. He has a bunch. Which one would you like to ask him first? Well, I'd like to, we talked about motors. You know, you said cars and boats and C-Dos. what is a better investment? A fancy car or a fancy boat? Which one has a higher resale value? Probably depend on which boat or which car. You just look at it and watch it. Both of them are going to go down. I mean, I've got Mastercraft ski boats. They're expensive, nice boats. And then I've got nice sports cars and stuff.
Starting point is 01:04:30 And they just both. It's just horrible. I mean, you just have to enjoy them. And it's a toy and it's just an expenditure like going out to eat. But you have to be able to afford to take that hit. Because I love the water. So is it a good investment? Like I haven't even. paid off my house or anything, but I started looking at a lake house. Like, is that a good man, lakehouse? I got to tell you, that's my soft spot. See what I'm saying! That's my sweet spot, it's my lake house. But yeah, pay cash for the lake house after you get your house paid. A lake house is a toy. It's a toy. It's a toy. Pay cash for a lake house after I pay off my house. Wait, so if your house is paid off, you shouldn't, if you have a second home, like a vacation home, you shouldn't put a mortgage on a vacation home. The whole thing is the debt keeps you from building
Starting point is 01:05:08 wealth. Okay. And when you can stay away from payments and you're not giving other people all your money, there's a direct correlation between that and becoming wealthy. And so it's just like, it's just like, it's not, it's not that you never get there. It's when you get there. And so, you know, in our case, we saved up and one of our first purchases of a toy like that when we kind of got over the top, you know, years and years ago, some of these books started selling, we're cashing some pretty good checks and that kind of stuff. Finally, you know, I'm from Antioch, Tennessee. I grew up, you know, not that, I wasn't that guy, but finally I got a little pile of money. We bought a $103,000 lakehouse, and you know what that thing's worth now.
Starting point is 01:05:43 Ding, ding, right? How much? And so it's a lot. Because you said how much? I don't know. Probably 600, you know. That's what I need. You'll get there.
Starting point is 01:05:54 You'll get there. And, you know, in the meantime, our kids have grown up playing down there and playing on the water. Now the grandbabies are down there playing on the water. And it's a wonderful, it's a wonderful toy to have. And a lot of people do that with a beach condo or whatever. But pay cash for it. It's a toy. It sits there.
Starting point is 01:06:08 eight months a year. You know, it just sits there. You know Airbnb yet? No, no, no, no. Anything else for Dave Randolph? I don't need the money. That's the point. It's not, you know, I'm not being snobbish, but I'm saying that's the point of doing it this way.
Starting point is 01:06:25 Then you don't have to do junk like that and have other people in your home. Yeah. I get it. I'm OCD. It wouldn't do well for Dave to have people on my house. Amy brought up her kids college. I have a 10-month-old. How much money a month should I be putting into an account if I'm going to pay for his college?
Starting point is 01:06:43 Well, if you did an ESA, an educational savings account, you can do up to $2,000 a year. That's $166 a month. If you did that from 10 months to 18, that'd be 18 years, 2000 years, that'd be 36,000 you put in. If that's in a good mutual fund, that would have grown to about $126,000. So that would send up a good state school 18 years from now. And staying in state is the smart thing. to do. Yeah, sure. Sure. You go across the state line and, you know, it triples or quadruples. It's the same stinking school, basically. Some are better party schools than others.
Starting point is 01:07:15 Well, this is true. This is true. But what is your goal here is the question? Well, you want them to have a good time and experience life, but you also want them to get an education. I don't want to write a lot of checks for them having a good time and experiencing life. They can write those checks. Raymond, a question for Dave Ramsey? Yeah, so Dave, I have three credit cards right now, and they're totaling like $7,000, so I'm making three different payments. And I keep getting these offers in the mail. hey, do whatever, maybe it's like an $8,000 loan, and it consolidates, and then I just make one payment every month.
Starting point is 01:07:43 Is that smarter? No, the payment doesn't matter, whether it's one payment or three payments. The total is what matters. It's $8,000, so $1,000 a month, and you're done in eight months, plus or minus a little interest, right? So one payment, three payments doesn't matter except just the inconvenience of making the payment. But the math doesn't change. Three payments, the total $1,000 is going to pay off exactly the same period of time that one payment that is $1,000 pays off. Exactly. The math is exactly the same.
Starting point is 01:08:08 But they make it sound like I can do it faster through them. Yeah. I mean, called advertising. Because they want you to loan you money. And then they're hoping that you don't end up paying it off. My grandmother, don't you have big teeth? Mike D, one more question. Here's Mike D. our writer asked Dave Ramsey. Any question you want.
Starting point is 01:08:29 Go ahead. Yeah. How do they determine celebrity networks that we see online? Are they accurate? No, it's not accurate. I looked up Bobby Bones. It ain't even close. Shut up. Shut up. Listen. Let's talk about Chris Hogan's book for a second.
Starting point is 01:08:44 Okay. Tell me about that one. That was a fun project. I started taking calls on my show and just said, hey, if you're out there and you have a million dollar net worth, what you own minus what you owe is your net worth. So if you're a millionaire, if you have a million dollar net worth, call me and tell me how you did it. Did you inherit it? Did you hit the lottery? Where do millionaires come from, right? It's a good idea. I talked to real millionaires. It's not. talk to your broke brother-in-law who has an opinion, right? So let's talk to real millionaires. How'd you do it? And they started calling. Then we developed to turn it in a millionaire theme hour. And then we said, hey, we keep hearing these same themes over and over. Let's do some research because everybody believes out there that it all inherited. And when we did the largest study of
Starting point is 01:09:22 millionaires ever done in North America, over 10,000 millionaires we talked to, studied in-depth research with them. We found all kinds of very cool stuff. And then Chris Hogan did the book alpha, the statistics, 140 of the statistics from the study are in the book, Everyday Millionaire. But the big one was 79% of them inherited zero. Another 5% inherited under 100,000, which means mathematically that it did not cause them to be a millionaire. And another 5% inherited less than 200,000 and got it so late or in the game that it didn't cause them to be a millionaire. So 5 and 5 and 79 would be 89%. 9 out of 10 millionaires are first generation rich. They did not inherit their money. It's a lie. And the beauty of that number is that it says to a guy
Starting point is 01:10:01 like me that grew up like I did, you know, you can do it. As a matter of fact, I have done it twice. I'm so dumb. I had to do it two times because I went broke. So, you know, you can win if you pay a price to win. And that's what the essence of that book is. It's a hope-filled, joy-filled book. But boy, people are ticked off because they want it to, they want everybody to be a victim. There's a whole political agenda around it, you know, all this stuff. You know, you need the government to save you and all this stuff. And turns out what happens at your house is more important than what happens in the White House. Well, I'm going to wrap with this.
Starting point is 01:10:33 By the way, again, the name of the book is called Everyday Millionaires. Everyday millionaires. And what I would like for you to do, which I hit you about every single time before you leave, is talk about your snowball, like paying off your smallest first. Because I think if anything that we take as a group, and we talk about it all the time, like that resonates with us so much. So what do you call it? Your snowball method?
Starting point is 01:10:55 Is that what it is? That's snowball. It's quintessential Dave Ramsey. I mean, it's about a wheelhouse for me as it gets, and it's what we've taught for 30 years. And what I figured out was, because I'm a math nerd, I kept trying to fix this stuff with the math, with the math. You know, like we're talking about with the debt consolidation. Do I have one payment or two payments? Do I have a lower interest?
Starting point is 01:11:11 I always tried to figure a way to scam my way out of it, you know, figure out some angle. And it turns out the way you get out debt is you pay it off. You know, duh. And the problem with my money is the guy I shave with. He's got issues. If I can get the guy in my mirror to behave, he can be skinny. and rich, but he's got issues. You know? So, you know, I gotta, and when we figured out personal finance then is 80% behavior,
Starting point is 01:11:37 20% head knowledge. It's what you believe in what you do matters more than some little math trick, in other words. So we just list the debts, smallest to largest, pay minimum payments on everything but the little one. Attack the little one with a vengeance. Beans and rice, rice and beans, no life, scorched earth, no vacations, don't be on the inside of a restaurant unless you're working there. Get out of debt. so you get your life back. And you got to get fired up. You can wander into debt.
Starting point is 01:12:02 You can't wander out. You've got to get ticked off in a good way. And when you attack that little one and that one's gone, you're like, huh, there's one down. And chop that card, right? You tack the next one down. Every time you pay off one, the payment that used to be there now rolls over, picks up more snow. The snowball picks up more snow every time it rolls over and attack the next one down. Attack the next one down.
Starting point is 01:12:20 And what happens invariably is as people go down that list, the little one, they're like, and that's cool. The next one's like, huh? The next one was like, wow. And by the time they get down in it, they get so fired up because they get hope because they thought they were stuck. They thought there was no hope. They thought they were going to live a rat in the wheel their whole life. And the more fired up you get, the deeper you sacrifice and the more extra jobs you take and the more stuff you sell, you know, because I'm getting out, baby. Hallelujah. You get going, you know. But when you start off, it's kind of like, yeah, maybe this Ramsey guy's got something. We'll see. But by the time you're at the bottom, you're like preaching to the neighbors, you know. So that's why it works because you get more and more fired up because hope kicks in. Man, I want more debt now just to pay it off. You got me so motivated. Run up some bills, baby. Come on.
Starting point is 01:13:06 Listen, Dave Ramsey, you know I'm your biggest fan. I think what you do is amazing. Well, this is a mutual admiration society around here, man. This guy. So let's do a couple things. Again, give us the two. Tell us about Chris's book. It's called...
Starting point is 01:13:20 Everyday Millionaire. By Chris Hogan. By Chris Hogan. And if you're going to send everybody one of your books, of all of your 11 million. Which one? A newbie who's going, wow, this Dave Ramsey guy knows what he's talking about. Like, which one is the beginner guide to kind of getting out of debt? You know, the total money makeover sold the most, and I think the reason it has is it's the
Starting point is 01:13:39 step-by-step guide through the baby steps. It's just the process book. This is what you do. Do this. It'll work. Just submit yourself to the plan. Do this. It'll work. Well, I'm going to open up seven more credit cards today. Just to pay them off. I don't think this worked out, Amy. I don't think that's what he meant. He's passionate about paying off debt, baby. Dave Ramsey, at Dave Ramsey.
Starting point is 01:14:01 He's a great follow on Twitter as well. Always great to have you, my friend. Thank you, sir. There he is. This People Magazine article came out. Lunchbox, you watch your Bachelorette. Yeah, every week. It's all right.
Starting point is 01:14:17 She's a little cryy. She cries a lot. You like that or no? No, I don't like the emotional. I like the drama, but she is a cry baby. That dude, Jed Wyatt. Do you familiar with him? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:14:27 He's from Nashville, and he tells her early on, he said, look, I came here to promote my music. Oh, wow. He told her that, and he goes, but I'm falling in love with you. Oh, wow. Yeah, so he said, I'm being straight up. Like, I came just to promote my music to further my career, but I'm having feelings for you. I'm only seeing this story because the episode was a few days ago. Is he still on the show?
Starting point is 01:14:50 Yeah, I believe he's still on there. Jed Wyatt's ex says they were still dating four months into the relationship. When he went on The Bachelorette, he said, hey, it's just a plat. I have more for my music. Ouch. Then he ghosted her when he got back to Nashville. Dang. Ooh.
Starting point is 01:15:03 We spent the night together the night before he headed to L.A., whoever this is. I'd have her on it. If she's angry. If she wants to talk. We got a lot of microphones. Yeah, you can talk here. Her name is Stevens. I don't see a first name here.
Starting point is 01:15:16 She tells people exclusively. The issue is out today, they say on stands. Opening up publicly for the first time. He told me it was just an obstacle, and we'd be stronger on the other side because of it. Got her. I mean, how'd... In fact, she says that Wyatt was unequivocal about his motives.
Starting point is 01:15:32 He told me early on that he had applied. He said, it's probably not going to happen, but it's a huge opportunity. I'm only doing this for my music. He did it for his career. I mean... I mean, he said it on the show, so she ain't lying. Because he admitted that on the show, so I'm believing this chick. You want to hear if he's anything good or not?
Starting point is 01:15:50 I got some of music. Yeah, Jed Wyatt. What's... Let me show me what he looks like. Jed Wyatt. Here we go. Oh, here he is with his chick on the beach. That's like a jazz singer.
Starting point is 01:16:03 Okay. Is he a country artist? Or does he play like Hot A.C. Sounds like Hot A.C. Coming up, Chicago. Peter Frampton, a little Billy Squire. But right now, Jed Wyatt. It's kind of what that sounds like, huh?
Starting point is 01:16:22 Yeah, it does. And we'll follow that with the Goo Goo Goo Dolls Iris here on Delilah. Delilah. I mean, not bad. It's good. It's actually pretty good though. Read to me what kind of artist he is. What's it say?
Starting point is 01:16:36 Say country artist? Here's a song called vacation. Uh-oh. Did you, what do you say? Did you say, Bay or Bay? Vay. Vacation. You feel like vacation.
Starting point is 01:16:51 You take me away from. There's no way he's a country artist. This is pretty good. It's good. Yeah. Want to make reservations. Take you to the places. You ought to meet
Starting point is 01:17:05 You like vacation A lot happening there Pretty good Does it say what kind of artist he is? I said it's a singer-song right here. I mean, he's definitely not a country artist. Is there a chance that he's telling the truth And he just got to change of feelings
Starting point is 01:17:23 Once he was on the show? Yeah. But yes, but here it did deal. Come back home, you got to say, Sorry, girl that my girlfriend and I left. My bad. You don't believe in the ghosting thing that he did? That probably is not.
Starting point is 01:17:34 And I've ghosted before, too, and been ghosted. Okay. It's something we've all done. But it's not the healthiest. He should have said, I went on the show and I went for this reason. I'm sorry. I came back and it's not my thing.
Starting point is 01:17:46 I don't know. But if she wants to come in, heck, if they want to come in together, he can play a song in here. As long as she watches, we're good. Lario Speedwagon on the way. If we call this history. Hey, are she cute?
Starting point is 01:18:07 Yes. Give me hit her up. Oh, wow. This is how Bobby finds his girlfriend? I go and get Jedd Wyatt's girl. Although, you kind of don't want somebody who's crying to People magazine about anything. Something goes your way, you probably don't go to... Unless they're offering you like 10 grand.
Starting point is 01:18:26 Then I make up stuff. What is it? Oh, nothing. She's cute. Yeah? She's very fit. Yeah. Just my type.
Starting point is 01:18:34 Fit. He has some suit pictures at this. That's why. All right. Hey, Jed Wyatt, you and your girl are welcome to come up together. And you can play and she can chill. Yeah. What says?
Starting point is 01:18:45 She's a musician also. Oh, wow. They can do dueling. Battle of the bands. Oh, battle the band. Yes. I know who wins that show. You do?
Starting point is 01:18:55 Mm-hmm. Well, don't say. I'm not. I would never. I'm not like Amy. I don't just yell things out. What? Exactly.
Starting point is 01:19:02 All right. A new episode of Amy's podcast called Four Things with Amy Brown. It's up. What are the Four Things, Amy? Well, benefits. doing the sauna at the gym. Some people don't realize most gyms have it
Starting point is 01:19:16 and you should be going in there. The pringle effect with food and how... The pringle effect. I like pringles. Wow. Really has nothing. Would you eat more pringles?
Starting point is 01:19:24 I got to listen to this podcast. Reasons to eat more pringles? That's pringle effect. You know how once you pop, you can't stop. Yeah. It can, yeah. And then, um, also,
Starting point is 01:19:33 you know how like sometimes you just want to get a human on the phone? Like I have... No, no, no, no. No, if you're calling a company. Yeah. Yeah. I have like a way, like, there's a way.
Starting point is 01:19:42 Like there's a place you can go and you can like skip being on hold and you get the human. It's so great. And then I have a person coming on to talk about the benefits of glutathion because it's like super popular right now. Is that in Pringles? Because I love it if that's the thing. Is that another word for a butt? In IV form or in pill form, but it's definitely a hot health topic. So we break that down.
Starting point is 01:20:02 All right, four things with Amy Brown. One of my favorite shows. It's time for the good news. With Amy. Tell me something good. So there's this woman in New Jersey named Lindsay. and she has this pet turkey named Brady after Tom Brady. And this turkey is fully domesticated.
Starting point is 01:20:21 So it had gone over to like a neighbor's house for a pool party or in this turkey's case it waddled on over. And it then went missing. So, and this is something the turkey used to do all the time. The neighbors were having a good together. So it was like, I want to go be part of the fun. But like she got a phone call from the neighbor saying, hey, I got good news and bad news. We found Brady.
Starting point is 01:20:42 but he's missing most of his tail and feathers has a damaged wing and an infected injury. So it looks like Brady got into a little fight while he was out in the wild missing. Again, domesticated turkey. But now he's been treated by vets and he's going to make a full recovery. Brady the turkey.
Starting point is 01:20:58 And that was it? It was an alligator or a fish. It was a turkey. And also, I just thought, I didn't know that turkeys could be domesticated. So that's super cool to know. I would assume that anything, most anything, if started,
Starting point is 01:21:12 domesticated can be domesticated. Doesn't mean they'll stay. It doesn't mean that they're going to not snap. Because turkey might go turkey. What does that mean, though? They just get on your table for Thanksgiving? Don't stop gobbling. That's a good story, though.
Starting point is 01:21:25 Shout out to the vet, whoever helped that turkey, because you know they ain't doing a lot of turkey work. Right, I know. That was tell me something good. Man, I hope everybody has a good weekend. I know you got a whole day ahead of you here, but Fridays are always exciting. Get a couple days off.
Starting point is 01:21:42 But it's also... Flashback Friday, the year is 2003. Amy, talk me through your 2003. I was graduating from Texas A&M. Had a boyfriend. I don't know. It depends on where we were in 2003, but that's the year that I graduated.
Starting point is 01:22:01 Moved back to Austin because I was living in College Station. And then started, well, I didn't really have a job. Graduated, no job. What about you? I was at Q100 Little Rock. Yeah. Playing all the hits. Here's the new one.
Starting point is 01:22:13 Can you believe this? Justin Timberlake went. solo, Here's Like I Love You on Q100. Yeah. That's how he said to do. That was me in 2003. And then that same year I was over, I moved to, and then went to Austin and started doing nights in Austin.
Starting point is 01:22:26 Yeah. And I was like, here's Joseph Like I Love You, but just later at night. Right. Yeah. From 2003 on Flashback Friday, the number one song on this day in 2003 was Beer for My Horses. That justice is the one thing you should always find. You got to saddle up your balls.
Starting point is 01:22:43 You've got to draw a hard line. The gunswoked settles, we'll sing a victory tune, and we'll all meet back, and we'll hopeful so low. We'll raise up our glasses against evil forces singing. Whiskey for my men, beer for my horses. I'm kind of a jamming, heard that a bit. The biggest song in pop was 50 Cent, 21 Questions. Man, the best line in this song was,
Starting point is 01:23:10 I love you like a fat kid love cake. That's this one, right? Would you love me if I was down and out Would you still have love for me And would you leave me if you father Find out of what's talking Do you believe me when I tell you You the one I'm loving
Starting point is 01:23:25 Are you mad cause I'm asking you 21 questions Are you my soul made If so girl you're a blessing Do you trust me enough It's telling me your dreams I'm staring at you're trying to figure Like a fat kid loves cake There it is
Starting point is 01:23:37 That's the right song Yeah what's the line of that one Do you have it up there? Here you go This is the line from You get to set it. Here we go. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:23:47 It says, we only humans, girl. We make mistakes. To make it up, I do whatever it take. I love you like a fat kid love cake. Yeah, I bet that one came easy to them. That's not funny, man. I just love that line. That's all I remember from it.
Starting point is 01:24:02 And in pop culture, 2003, the fifth Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, goes on sale. Interest had risen at such levels that bookstores around the world were offering midnight parties to welcome customers where people would camp out to get the book. To receive their copies of the book, booksellers had to agree to rules where they had to keep the books in a secure area
Starting point is 01:24:21 until 12.01 a.m. It was a whole deal. Bookstores couldn't... They had to, like, lock them down. Wow. Days before the release, the entire book leaked online. People took pictures of every page. Oh, my gosh. And put them on the Internet. J.K. Rowling is the second highest-paid author
Starting point is 01:24:36 with $54 million made last year alone. She was homeless in her car for a while. Wow. I respect to Harry Potter. I haven't read it. Morgan number two loves it. Oh, if you haven't read it, you should still read it. I still think that.
Starting point is 01:24:51 What's the big takeaway from Harry Potter? What do you learn? I mean, I don't know that it's that. I think it's more like, you guys know, like, Lord of the Rings, right? You guys love those shows? No. I don't think I ever saw those movies. No.
Starting point is 01:25:04 Well, if you're a fandom of something, Hunger Games. Oh, now we're talking. Okay. Love it. It's just like that. You become, like, a fan of that, and then you like the whole concept, and then you become invested in those characters in that life. I did watch Lord of the Rings because, and it wasn't for me.
Starting point is 01:25:18 I liked it okay. They're just long. And the movie would end the Lord of the Rings. Nothing would happen. It would just be walking and then the credits would roll. And I'd be like, that's terrible. I just spent three hours and it ends up you guys walking down a road. I did like Hunger Games books.
Starting point is 01:25:35 I didn't watch. What's the other one? I guess Harry Potter's the movie that I didn't see those either. The movies go to? Oh, yeah. I mean, I like movies more than I like books, so I like the movies. You know, you are 25. All right, there you go.
Starting point is 01:25:48 That is on this day, Flashback Friday, 2003. Flashback Friday. We have it. The Bobby Bones show. All right, Fun Fact Friday. Amy says she's got a bunch of them today. It would be fun just to sit back and go through it. What do you have?
Starting point is 01:26:03 Okay. It would cost you only $140 a year if you ate ramen noodles for every meal. Yeah, but I bet your doctor bills, if that's all you were eating, would be high. I can't imagine that would be that healthy for you. You probably get sick. But yes, I, yes. I'm just saying if you're on a budget. Listen, when I was in college, there were two things that ate on the rig.
Starting point is 01:26:28 Bologna sandwiches and ramen noodles. Sometimes for lunch dinner, sometimes I'd switch it up. So, yeah. Those ramen noodle cups, kill it back, fill the water, put in the microwave. You're rocking, man. Even the bag, I think, was a quarter. Oh, gosh. I just dated myself.
Starting point is 01:26:45 No, no, you're right. Even the bag was a penny. Gosh, that sounds so old. We'd go down to the mall shop with their best girl. All right, what else, Amy? So Weezer got their first gig, like their first show, only five weeks after being formed, and you know who they opened for? Who's that? Kiana Reeves van Dogstar.
Starting point is 01:27:04 Dogstar. You know that, Bones? I knew they opened for Dogstar, but I didn't know that was, like, one of their first deals. Wow. Yeah, Keanu was, I believe the bassist and Dogstar. Yeah, is that right? Hey, listen, I love Weezer, I love Keanu Reeves. Yeah, you do.
Starting point is 01:27:16 And I love rock and roll. Yeah. What else, Amy? So while playing rock paper scissors, choosing paper on the first go is the best option. People often choose paper first, which leads to a tie. And men tend to favor rock, which leads to a win. That's so masculine.
Starting point is 01:27:33 Yeah, man. We pick a rock. Yeah. Do you have a go-to? Or you shouldn't give it away. I read a whole book once. It taught you how to win every time of Paper Rock scissors? You did?
Starting point is 01:27:41 I won 30 games in a row on the show. People used to come and make to play. I won 30 paper rock scissors in a row. Because you read that book. Yeah, because you don't play the paper rock or the scissors against the person. You play the person. Wow. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:27:53 This is deep. I'm pretty good at paper rock scissors. If ever where you want to go, and put a little money on it, let me know. You want to go around? You think you're still good? You want to go around? Let's go right now. All right.
Starting point is 01:28:03 Here we go. Eddie and myself. Come on. Here we go. One, two, three. Go. Taper. Got your scissors.
Starting point is 01:28:09 Boom. Well, you didn't do it. I did it too, scissors. No, you didn't do it with your hands. Yes, I did. Is that part of your technique to not do it and wait for me to do it? To watch. They do what you do and throw it up.
Starting point is 01:28:18 That's cheating is what that was. You didn't see I'm over here on this other table. Which, by the way, next week we're going to our new studio. That's going to be crazy. That's exciting. I know. I know. What else, Amy?
Starting point is 01:28:27 The longest English word is 189,819 letters long. So I'm not going to say it or spell it out here because it would like take forever. Evidently, it would take three and a half hours to say it out loud. Cool. But it's the full name for the protein, nickname Tintin. What's Mike D handing you right now? More fun facts. Oh, more.
Starting point is 01:28:50 I got about two more left in me. Okay. Eddie Challenge for Paper Rock scissors win. I'm a little upset now. I mean, you cheated. Okay. So this is kind of cool because, you know, this might motivate you to take a correspondence class or something. So Ben and Jerry learned how to make ice cream by taking a $5 correspondence course offered by Penn State because one of them couldn't get into medical school and the
Starting point is 01:29:11 The other one couldn't sell enough of the pottery they were making. So they're like, let's take this correspondence class. Next thing you know, Ben and Jerry's. Ben and Jerry sounds so cool to me. Those two dudes. I don't know much about them. They're like hippies, aren't they? One was a mouse.
Starting point is 01:29:22 One was a cat? No, no, that's Tom and Jerry. Oh, oh, oh, oh. This is the ice cream guys. My husband's taking a course sort of like this, but you don't get credit, but it's from MIT. Isn't that crazy? Like right now? Your husband goes to MIT?
Starting point is 01:29:36 Your husband's making ice cream at MIT? That's right. He does everything. This is amazing. No, but he started it a few weeks ago. It's about AI. Artificial intelligence is like something to do with like, because he also has a company with like drones.
Starting point is 01:29:49 He's trying to learn this. And one of his old Army Air Force buddies, like, told him, oh, there's this class at MIT you need to take. And you can take it and you just pay the fee, but he doesn't like get a grade, but he gets all of the information and has to turn stuff in. But he's not like a student at MIT. But I thought that was cool he could do that because I was like,
Starting point is 01:30:05 now you can say you go to MIT. Well, listen, did you guys have fun with all these fun facts? Oh, that was fun too. That was so much fun. I won paper like scissors, which is fantastic. This is the Bobby Bones show. Bobby Bones. All right, it's going to wrap it up for us.
Starting point is 01:30:23 Hope everybody has a great weekend. Amy, you're going to Texas? Yep, going to Austin. So see my dad, going to go to the lake, just hang out with the fam. It should be fun. Yeah. Well, listen, I hope that you spent some time with us this week and you had fun. We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.
Starting point is 01:30:42 Do you know that one? No. No? What is that? Bad for you, then good for me. You know that's that movie that's coming out about the yesterday, is that I called? Oh yeah, the Beatles movie? Yeah, where nobody knows the Beatles except him.
Starting point is 01:30:51 Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Everybody forgets the song. It looks so good. And then he's the only one that knows it, so he turns to a big star because he's just singing back songs that the Beatles wrote. Yeah. Yeah, that does look good, right? Yeah. Does I have a rating yet, Mike D on Rottenmados?
Starting point is 01:31:03 63%. Oh, that's not great, is it? I mean, it's not horrible, but... What do you think about that, Mike D? I think it looks pretty good. Yeah, what do you think about that rating, though? Does that make you... You think it'll go up?
Starting point is 01:31:14 Oh, because not as many people have seen it yet. Yeah. What does? Next week. What are you doing? Traveling. Nice.
Starting point is 01:31:22 Putting it there. Just traveling. It's all I can say is it right now. Going somewhere else. Just traveling for now. Have a great weekend. Thank you guys for hanging with us. See you next week.
