Starting point is 00:02:07 Air Tasker, get anything done. Come on, Bobby. Hey, welcome to the show. Let's see what's happening with everybody in our segment we call What's the Haps. Hey, what's the Haps? Oh, by the way, morning studio. Morning. Sorry about that.
Starting point is 00:02:32 It's all right. I'm so excited to hear what's happening in you guys' lives. Amy, you go first. Okay, so I guess what I need to know is do you want my cousin to come back on and give you a 2020 psychic greeting? Why, what's the deal? Well, because I've been messaging with her and I don't know if I should for sure book it or not. I know you mentioned it, but then I didn't know she was out of the country and then now she's going to be back. Shouldn't she already know I want a psychic greeting?
Starting point is 00:02:57 What I need to know? I mean, what is she just going to call in? No, she's not just going to call it and be like, I know you want this. Well, if she knows what's going to happen in the future. Listen, I don't know. But I don't think that's the kind of readings she does. Not. Amy's cousin is a psychic.
Starting point is 00:03:13 Now, I don't believe in psychics, but it's fun for me. I also don't believe in psychics, but I love my cousin. And she did nail a couple things last year. So, yeah, let's get her on. I mean, we can do it either later this week or early next week. Okay. Does she want to come back on? Did she feel like we treated her fairly when she came on last time?
Starting point is 00:03:32 Yeah. I mean, I think it's just great. Okay. So it's fine. But yes, of course. Okay, so I'll try to line that up. Okay, so we will have your psychic cousin on. Probably maybe this week or next week. All right, there you go. Hey! Hey, what's the hat? You know me, I am always washing my hands. I don't touch door handles. I'm trying to avoid. You know, even cups, you don't keep them open up, right? Oh, like in your counter. You don't keep them sitting on the bottom, open up, right?
Starting point is 00:04:02 If all that dust gets into the cup, it falls into it. Oh, I'll keep them up. It actually grosses me out that people put them down. Why not put them down and just wipe the edge before you use it with the paper towel? I guess that's true. But I never wanted to, I don't want to, I just think of like what's down there and now the lips. Like I stay at a family friend's house over Christmas and they put them down. And then when I unload the dishwasher, I put them up.
Starting point is 00:04:24 And then I open up the cabinet and somebody has turned them back down. Well, I turn mine down for that. I don't want dust falling all into the bottom of the cup. I'd rather wipe it off the ring with paper towel. Okay. So I'm always looking for little things like that to be a little bit cleaner. There was a whole story, too, about your home coffee maker. Now, I don't have a coffee maker per se.
Starting point is 00:04:41 I do have one of those. Curings. Yeah. And they say if you have one of these, you're not cleaning the inside of it, near as much as you should. And there's so much bacteria inside of them that can make you sick. Oh. The National Sanitation Foundation says bacteria mold, even yeast, love to grow in these machines.
Starting point is 00:04:58 That's why you have to clean it. they're like if you clean them they're safe but you have to clean it it's like also your dryer sometimes you don't clean your lint dryer for a couple of months and nothing could catch fire oh yeah do you clean your lint dryer enough
Starting point is 00:05:13 yeah after every cycle I guess oh look at you I'm gonna brag anyway this is a PSA the more you know to make sure to clean your coffee maker too and keep your cups upside down there you go
Starting point is 00:05:27 hey what's the Lunch bikes. Looks like my super athletic abilities have spread around the world because the Harlem Globetrotters have recruited me to play for the Globetrotters. They sent me an email and said, hey, you know what? We've heard about you. And we want you to come play on the team this Saturday. So I was like, what?
Starting point is 00:05:44 Okay, guess I'm going. And they got me, you know, a custom jersey with my name on it, said, you're going to suit up, be in the warmups. I'm playing with the Globetrotters. That may be leaving the show, folks. Is that a sales thing? Like a local sales thing? It's got to be.
Starting point is 00:05:57 Yeah, it's like for work, right? I got an email straight from the Globetrotters So I mean To me that tells me They want my basketball skills on the court But are you playing in the game? Because it sounds like you're just doing warm-ups No, no, no, I'm going to be in the game
Starting point is 00:06:10 I'm not going to play the whole game But I will be in the game They said... This is a joke? I know every city they go to They try to grab people from radio or TV You put them in so they promote it So they come to the game
Starting point is 00:06:21 I don't know if it's a superior athletic ability Because you're not a very good basketball player I haven't played Probably since seventh grade That was the last time Maybe they got a tape from you in seventh grade That's what I was going to say I did have skills back then
Starting point is 00:06:33 I mean I wasn't in the starting team But I was in the second five And we did go undefeated as the Chicago Bulls And I mean they said Hey we'll make you a jersey Put your name on it And I'm like well yeah Because I mean I'm a big deal
Starting point is 00:06:42 Is this a second Is this a sales thing? Do we know? Anyone from the show now? No All right well let us know how it goes Yeah Saturday 7 o'clock You want to see me on the Globetrower
Starting point is 00:06:51 This is why right there That's why they do it right there And it's a good plan But that's it right there That's a good plan they want you to talk about it No, what if I go out and drain If I go five from fire from deep
Starting point is 00:07:01 Like hit three, three points Boom boom boom We're rooting for that you do And then they're gonna probably Say all right, let's go This is my tryout You would leave this for that You would leave the show to go play for the Globetrotters
Starting point is 00:07:12 You just said this might be my chance to go Guys don't be jealous Because you haven't been recruited by the Globetrotters True Did you get the email? No, I don't know I don't check my work email Yeah you didn't get it
Starting point is 00:07:23 Did you get it? No, exactly All right, we'll find out this weekend. Rayno. Hey. Hey! What's the hat? Eddie? It's probably my famous last words, but I've been kind of battling a congestion, chest congestion,
Starting point is 00:07:36 sinus, but I think I'm finally over it, and I didn't take a single antibiotic. I didn't go to the doctor, and I'm like, I can do this. I slept more. I drank lots of water. I ate well. How long did it take?
Starting point is 00:07:52 About a month. That's good, though. Yeah, okay, good for you, Frou-Fru. I'm going to take every chemical I can take to make me better quicker. Okay. Okay, I just thought. I love it that you did it. I wanted to prove to myself.
Starting point is 00:08:05 Okay. So I could do it. And maybe it just ran its course. Amy, you're very. More holistic then. But I'm Western and Eastern medicine. I like both. If you have to talk about medicine in a Western or Eastern sense, you're a little too nutty for me.
Starting point is 00:08:20 Like, just give me the medicine. Right. Give me the pills. Yeah. What is it, Doc? All right. Yeah. Let's get this over with.
Starting point is 00:08:25 Stumato antibiotic, I'll take three. Well, I'm glad you're able to beat it. Yeah, thank you. I mean, I may have pneumonia or something, but. You know when Ronnie Dunn played our million-dollar show, The Raging Idiots, last week, he had pneumonia. Yeah. Dang. And he was singing anyway.
Starting point is 00:08:40 He was out crushing. He's like, I got pneumonia, but I'm still out here. And then he'd be like, Nia-a-moo! And just singing wonderfully. That pneumonia is serious. That's like lungs, right? Lung infection, yeah. Here's the Bobby Bones Show podcast.
Starting point is 00:08:55 Highlight segment of today. Ramundo, our audio guy is getting married. Been with this girl for basically seven years, finally proposed right before Christmas. And you told us a few days ago that your first dance song is going to be lover Taylor Swift. Who's paying for the wedding?
Starting point is 00:09:19 It's 50-50. I believe her father and then my father. Correct. Is that traditional? No. No. Her father's supposed to pay 100%. Okay, so I guess her father's paying for a majority.
Starting point is 00:09:30 I think my dad's at 25%. He does the reception the day before. Okay, yes. That is tradition. For the groom's family to do rehearsal dinner the night before and cover all those costs. And then the bride's parents or parents to do the evening. We keep saying father. So the wedding is paid for by her folks.
Starting point is 00:09:49 Yeah. All the other stuff paid for by your folks. Yeah, beer tab and then maybe the groom stuff. What are you going to do as far as the registry goes? Are you going to get wedding gifts? Are you going to have us like pay for your Ubers? No. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:02 We are building this registry. We're going to have the finest appliances, kitchen you can ever imagine. Appliances. Yeah. My girlfriend told me, well, fiancé, explained it as, this is where you upgrade your stuff,
Starting point is 00:10:14 even though we already have a blender. Boom, this is when you get the William Sonoma blender. Oh, no, you need a Vitamix. Well, but here's the thing on the expensive gifts is it's hard for someone to buy a whole Vitamix for you. True. They need to somehow be able to add money to get it. Because if you're asking for top of the line stuff,
Starting point is 00:10:30 nobody can afford a whole vitamin. Bobby, you're going. You're invited. You can get into the Vitamix. Why do I have to get the expensive stuff? I'm awesome. Because I would pull myself up my bootstrabs. It made it.
Starting point is 00:10:42 Now you're going to make it. No, gift giving is your love language. You're a giver. Oh, but Ray, Bobby makes a good point. Y'all could do, if you're at William Sonoma, you could do gift cards too. But people know that. Yeah, we're still setting up the website.
Starting point is 00:10:55 My girl's balled out. She paid $14 and now we own this website for a whole year, but we haven't finalized the website yet. We're still designing it. Okay, so what you have, though, is your hashtag is six years Slater. Yes. Your last name is Slater.
Starting point is 00:11:09 Mm-hmm. And her name's going to be Bay Slater. Yeah. Yeah. Okay, so we have the hashtag, the first dance song. He's working on the registry. But now I think the question is, we mentioned this.
Starting point is 00:11:21 How many groomsmen versus how many maids? Bridesmaids. Bridesmaids. Bridesmaids. We're perfectionists, so we want it to equal out. So it's going to be the same number. So she gave me a number and then I finalized mine. Which is?
Starting point is 00:11:35 Oh, it was five, but I was able to push it to six. Oh, wow, you got me in. Yeah! He didn't say yes or no. I'm just kidding. Yeah, he's just yagging. I also had to fit in the junior brides, groomsman in there as well. In that six?
Starting point is 00:11:50 Yeah. So, okay, so it's not six and a half. So you said your, what's the guy called? Groomsman. Best man. Yeah. It's going to be some guys. guy that you gamble with. Billy. Billy.
Starting point is 00:12:02 Yeah. Definitely going to be Billy's best man. But is South Beach going to be in the wedding at all? South Beach has been cut out of my life, so no. And you guys used to roll hard together. I know we did. That's what happens. Like tank tops and tanning all the time. That's right. When you do stuff like that with friendships, you get cut
Starting point is 00:12:18 out of people's lives. So you have six, but it's one of those going to be a little guy? Yeah, one's the miniature. Okay. So five groomsmen plus... So is she having five bridesmaids and a miniature? And a junior? Yeah. Oh, cute. Who's the miniature? Is this like a... His nephew? Okay, got it. Got it.
Starting point is 00:12:33 Mm-hmm. Do you have your list already? I believe I just snuck in that other one the other day. So yes, it's been finalized. All right. What are you going to wear? Do tuxes? I'm still pushing for cowboy boots and then I want to wear the bolo. I want it to be casual. I hate tux.
Starting point is 00:12:49 I don't know that a bolo is casual, though. It's not. And it's a western formal. Yeah. So that's an option. Does she want to go western? Well, I was already talking to our dress? I was already talking to our event planner,
Starting point is 00:13:00 wedding planner. She's not all for the bolo, so she's pretty much going to make me wear a tux. But I think they said blue. They've given me tucks that I have to wear, and it has to be blue. Like light blue with ruffles? I think the colors are champagne and blue, so.
Starting point is 00:13:13 Probably navy blue. Okay. I have to guess. So you are going tucks. Yeah. So we walked all the way through that. But he just wanted to be known that he really wants the ball off. I push for other, yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:25 And one through 10, how excited are you right now? I'm getting there, especially, apparently we can just start creating this website and getting a bunch of free stuff. It's amazing. Just because we're getting married, I love this. Yeah, so I'm, he's like, I'd have a post three years ago if I don't want to get the free stuff. I'm up to a seven. I'm ready for us to have this website ready to go. October 24th.
Starting point is 00:13:43 Yep. Will you ever reveal the secret details? Oh, yeah, yeah. You will as we get closer to it? Yeah. Okay. What secret details? I'm not, I don't fall for that.
Starting point is 00:13:54 I will hold a secret until I pop. You know secrets about. The wedding? The wedding. Oh, yeah. And there's a part of it that you're going to be like, holy crap. Yeah, yeah. Even I.
Starting point is 00:14:07 It was like, wow. Like maybe it gets in a magazine. Really? There's a possibility that like it could be in people magazine. Yeah. If they want to do a TV show out of this, I'm all for it. Yeah. I wouldn't say probable, but there's a possibility it can be people magazine because of something about this wedding.
Starting point is 00:14:23 Are you going to ask an artist to sing at it? I thought about that, but I mean, at the same time, is that kind of using our relationships, the wrong way. Yeah. Yeah, but you gotta hit your boy Sam Hunt and say, hey. Oh, no, no, no, no, yeah. Do you not have a relationship with anyone, though, that you would ask? You'd have to be a big artist.
Starting point is 00:14:38 Chris Lane. Why not ask Chris Lane? Because also I love the song, Big Big Plan. That was one I proposed to. Yeah, what is your relationship with Chris Lane? Me and him randomly worked some charity event. I didn't even know he was going to be there, and we were both there, and I hung out with him for two hours.
Starting point is 00:14:50 Oh, just one time? Yeah. Okay, that's not a relationship. Oh, I thought you knew. More like, what about, like, Eric Dodd? Yeah, but he is going to be in the, wedding, so I don't want him to also have to perform and stuff like that. He's a groomsman.
Starting point is 00:15:02 So you just met this dude? He's going to be a groomman? I didn't just mean him. It was years ago. We wrote vacation in the summer. That was in... How long have you known Eric Dodd? I know him for a year.
Starting point is 00:15:14 But they forged a special relationship because his wife was his fiancé's nurse during cancer. So, yeah. Well, when you put the cancer in that, I feel like mean for saying that. But you only know it for a year! Oh, but... So, Ray, I had a bridesman. because I had men on my side perform at my wedding
Starting point is 00:15:32 and it's fine he just stepped over got his guitar sing and then went back yeah the performance thing I mean this is all fluid yeah we work in the country music industry I'm sure I'll have some people lined up
Starting point is 00:15:42 I can tell Dodd to do a guitar thing Can I do stand up? Hey everybody welcome to the wedding wedding stand up that would be so good dude if somebody came up and roasted me that'd be hilarious that'd be the funniest stand up
Starting point is 00:15:53 I'm here I'm here okay I love the updates so we know Eric Dodd Herman, your gambling buddy and your nephew. That's three. So there's three other spots. Oh my gosh.
Starting point is 00:16:06 Can we bid? What? What do you mean? He sells one. We do a prize yo. We can't hang with you. We can't hang. No, a prizeo.
Starting point is 00:16:16 Oh, okay. No, prizio means you. There's one ticket prize. That's all we did it with our listeners. I'm just kidding. Raymond. I didn't get that one. Billy.
Starting point is 00:16:23 Oh, Billy. He forgets his name. Bobby's just acting like he has no clue who these people are. I don't know who they are. He's never met Billy. I don't know Billy. No one's met Billy.
Starting point is 00:16:29 I met Billy. Billy and Eric Dodd raised friends he met three months ago. All right. Raymundo, thanks for the update. The Bobby Bone Show. Big three stories. Let's go over to our producer, Raimundo. Ramundo, what you got over there?
Starting point is 00:16:42 In sports news, in Florida, police swarmed Antonio Brown's house and arrested his trainer following reports of a battery and burglary with an 18-wheeler moving truck. Starting point is 00:19:56 Mailbag at bobbybones.com. Let's open it up. Bobby's Mailbag. Hey, Bobby Bones, I need some advice from you and, for sure, Amy. My children were two, four, and six at the time of their adoptions. The two-year-old has a very complicated name, and it was difficult to spell. After two years in foster care, we found that everyone had been spelling it wrong. The four-year-old couldn't say her name at all, so we've come up with a nickname,
Starting point is 00:20:27 and our six-year-old wanted to change his name to a variety of superhero names. I wouldn't let him. My husband and I are now considering going through the process of changing their names legally. I know Amy chose to keep her kid's names when she adopted, but my question is, when you adopt, is it sometimes okay to rename the child? Thank you, and she signed her name. You know, this is right out of my wheelhouse. I'm going to step out.
Starting point is 00:20:53 Amy has adopted children. Eddie's fostering two kids right now. So I'm curious to know, Amy, you go first. I would say it's okay. It's case by case. Ultimately, I say that because it's up to you. I think it's fine. I would keep their birth-given name somewhere in the mix. Like, keep it as their first name.
Starting point is 00:21:13 Add a middle name. What we did is we, since they were given our last name, which wasn't their birth-given last name. Like, my son wasn't born a brown, and my daughter not a brown. So we added that. That changed for them. So we kept their first name,
Starting point is 00:21:27 and then we moved their birth named as a middle name. So, oh, you mean their last name. It's now a middle name. But then also, we had middle names that were special to me and my husband. So we gave them those as middle names too. They have four names.
Starting point is 00:21:43 And that's okay. Like on their new, their social security cards, like when we did all that jazz that we had to do here, we gave them two middle names. and they like it. The kids appreciate it. And then their name is still all a part of their name.
Starting point is 00:21:58 And then they can choose even later what they want to be called or now what they want to be called. But it's all still there. You don't eliminate it because that's part of who they are. Your son's name is Stevenson, which could be a Haitian name or an American name. That's a pretty easy name. Right. Your daughter, though, her name is Shira. It's Ashera.
Starting point is 00:22:15 And she's gotten frustrated before because nobody can say it. And not in a bad way. She's just like, nobody knows my name. Can I just be Sabrina? And she's asked before if she can be Sabrina. But no. I mean, no, we're not changing that. But she is, yeah, Stasheera, Elizabeth.
Starting point is 00:22:30 You don't, don't say it all. Oh, really? Yeah, don't put it all out there. Okay. Yeah, yeah. You want to give her social out? You got to call LifeLock. Got a whole thing going here.
Starting point is 00:22:37 We have LiveLock. But, yeah. So you say it's case by case, but if you do change it, keep the real name in there somewhere. Yes. I think it's totally fine. And that's what I would recommend. But again, it's up to you case by case.
Starting point is 00:22:48 Eddie is fostering two children right now. has this come up at all? This is actually the first time I've ever thought about this. And I have, I guess, thought about maybe last names because last name is big. And like Amy said, that is a part of their life. And I don't want to change that. And if they were to join our family, like if we were to adopt them, I wouldn't mind them keeping their last name. And again, they have regular first name.
Starting point is 00:23:14 So, man, this is really the first time I've ever thought about that. So this is a good question. I think if you adopt them, though, you would change their last name. your last name. I don't think so though. You don't? I don't know and I haven't even talked about this with my wife. Who knows what she thinks about it? I think I would like to keep their last name because again that is who they are.
Starting point is 00:23:31 I'd like to change my last name and I haven't been adopted. Although I was adopted by my grandmother and my name was changed for a while. But then change back. And then also you might legally change your name. Oh yeah, put bones in there legally. Yeah. That would be three times that you change your name. Well, if I run for office, I will put bones as my middle name. I'll just add it so I can use it on all my material.
Starting point is 00:23:51 How is it? Is it easy to change names of the process? I don't know, Amy, you've changed your name when you got married. Oh. I mean, I don't think it was that hard. It must not have been too hard because I did it. The idea of letting them be superheroes for like maybe a month or two.
Starting point is 00:24:08 Oh, you mean it's like a temporary. Not a bad idea. My little Iron Man Wilson. Like what other the, Chad Ochocinco changed his name like 50 times, right? Yeah, Chad Ocho Cinco, Meta. Meta World piece did that. That's right. I wonder if Puffy is doing it.
Starting point is 00:24:21 Puffy, ditty. Legally daddy. John Cougar Melanchamp. John Mellencamp. No, I don't think that's a thing. The Cougar. But I think Johnny Cougar was his stage name. I don't think he legally changed it.
Starting point is 00:24:32 Oh. Whereas these other people, I think it was like, they did that. He was Johnny Cougar. And then he was like, well, this is going to not meet. Then he was John Cougar Melanchamp. Then he just dropped Cougar altogether. Okay, okay. Well, listen, it's a lot of advice.
Starting point is 00:24:43 It's heavy stuff. And there's a way we find heavy things and actually make it trivial. And congratulations to us for doing that again. But thank you for your email. Morgan, number two again, if they have a question, what is the email address? Mailbag at bobbybones.com. There you go. And that was Bobby's Mailbag.
Starting point is 00:25:01 Oh, yeah. Yes, Bobby Bones. I was talking to Shay from Dan and Shea. And I was real curious about this song called 10,000 hours with Justin Bieber. And how they had been wanting to do a song with Justin Bieber for a long time. And they had the same manager who's Scooter Braun. who has Justin, who has Dan and Shea, and Shea said they finally found a song
Starting point is 00:25:24 that made sense for them to do together, so they sent it over to Scooter Braun, Bieber's manager, he loved it, and that Shea had to hold it in his phone forever for months, and no one could know about it. And he was also talking about how country music doesn't really leak, but if a Bieber song leaks, like that's big news. And so this is me and Shay talking about that.
Starting point is 00:25:45 It all started, I mean, we obviously through Scooter, we had met, like some people, Like we had met Ed Shearin through him. We had met Justin through him. We had been to L.A. a bunch of times. And we had met Justin a few times. And we always thought, like, man, it'd be so cool to like to get Justin on a song. Because it's like, you know, he's one of the biggest pop stars in the world.
Starting point is 00:26:03 You know, and it was like that in our mind was like, we, of course we want to do a song with him. You know, especially since we have this connection. No one in country has this unique connection that we do, you know, through Scooter. And early on, we definitely, we wanted to try to, you know, do something with him. We had pitched some things. And I'm really glad that it didn't have. happen whenever, you know, it might have happened like a long time ago, would not have been this.
Starting point is 00:26:25 This was kind of the first time we had written this song in Nashville, Jesse, Joe Dillon, Jordan Reynolds. And it was kind of that point where we had written a song, we're like, this, this actually might be perfect for Justin. Because in that time, like the timing of everything of him being, you know, just getting married and all this stuff. And it was the first time that we felt like we were bringing something to the table where it wasn't just like, can we please get Justin Bieber on our song?
Starting point is 00:26:48 It was, this would make sense for both. of us. This would be, I think, big for both of us. You never know what's going to happen. It's not like, we were like, okay, this is time. We didn't know what was going to happen when we sent the song to him. And he just... Did he send it to Scooter? Or did he technically us to? Yeah, we had sent it to... J.B., we had called
Starting point is 00:27:04 them. No, we just sent it to scooter to see if, like, it was something that he would like before we just, like, you know, send it over to Justin. And he was like, I think that this makes a lot of sense. And Justin heard it and he loved it and he resonated with it. I think, like we said, in the same way as we thought that he would like
Starting point is 00:27:20 it, he liked it. And yeah, I just kind of, we couldn't believe it whenever they were like, yeah, this is going to happen. So for months, like, we had his, we got his vocal and they had like changed, changed some things and kind of made it his own. And it was crazy like getting that back. We had to sit on that for months and months. And it was not telling anyone. You're not telling anybody about it. It was like the hardest thing we've ever done. Because it was like, you know, I've literally, like, in my phone, I had, you know, a song with us and Justin Bieber. And it's like, I couldn't even talk about it. But it was just like, because if that gets out, you know, that's like a big, that's a big leak. Maybe if like they found out, we're coming out with
Starting point is 00:27:56 new song, like, that's probably not going to, country songs don't really like leak. But songs that Justin Bieber on, I'm like, that's a, you know, worldwide. There's a lot of people trying to find that kind of stuff. So, you know, and it was just crazy, man. The latest from Nashville and Hollywood, Morgan number two's 32nd Skinny. Gary LaVox of Rascal Flats is really thankful for the band's lengthy career. It's amazing because You know, I mean, I think when we came out, it was just Brad, Keith, and us that are left from that class. But to be here this many years later and still be relevant and still creating music that people want to hear and they still want to hear what stories we have to tell is just, it's phenomenal.
Starting point is 00:28:34 Thomas Wrett revealed that his wife's due date is February 3rd in a cute Instagram post, but she said she hopes it's something much sooner than February 3rd. Florida Georgia lines said that they're crossing off a bucket list moment by going on tour with Keny Chesney this year. Well, being asked to go on tour with Chesney was a bucket list moment for us, no doubt. I mean, we both grew up listening to Kenny, you know, as kids. And obviously, he's a legend, but still doing it at a great level, at a high level. And he's somebody that we've been learning from. We want to learn more from.
Starting point is 00:29:03 He's been doing stadiums for like 15 or 20 years, which is crazy when you think about it. I'm Morgan number two. That's your skinny. It's time for the good news. With lunchbox. Tell me something good. Terry Ingram is a photographer in Nebraska, and he's out shooting some pictures of Eagles
Starting point is 00:29:21 when all of a sudden this car flies past him loses control up over a railroad track into a frozen pond flips over three people trapped in the vehicle he's like what am I gonna do
Starting point is 00:29:33 he calls 911 and he hears the people going help help he jumps in the water pulls all three out of the seeking vehicle wow I think of his own life right there it probably didn't even have to think about it right it's probably a instinct
Starting point is 00:29:45 must be for him crazy and again I don't know if I have that instinct I'm worried I don't. That I would be like, I hope not. I don't think you would whistle, but you might like, go find other help.
Starting point is 00:29:58 He means, like, put his hands in his pocket, a whistle, walk the other way. I know. I know. I don't think you would be like, okay, I don't see anything. I don't think you would be like, okay. I don't know. Nothing to see here, but you would find help. It may just not be you.
Starting point is 00:30:10 I don't know. I don't know if I do any of that. That guy, that's a hero right there. Risk his own life for them. That is what it's all about. That was tell me something good. Bobid Bones show. Bone Head.
Starting point is 00:30:20 Story of the day. This story comes to us from Arizona. Someone is a big idiot. They could have been super rich. They had a $14.6 million winning lottery ticket. Time has come. It's expired. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:30:35 No, no. So maybe someone wasn't an idiot because they didn't know. They just probably lost. They just didn't know. But, you know, if they find that next month or something. I bet it's lost. I know. Or thrown away, right?
Starting point is 00:30:47 You must play the lottery a lot to lose a ticket, huh? I mean, but I could see how randomly I almost bought one the other day. I don't ever buy lottery tickets. But they were right there and I was checking out. I was just getting gum, but then they, I couldn't put it on my credit cards. I was like, never mind. You can't gamble on credit. I know.
Starting point is 00:31:03 I was like, ooh, that'll be fun. Get me one of those. She's like, cash. I was like, what about debit? She's like, cash. Because what you could do is you could put it as a debt and then win and never pay the debt or lose and never pay. I didn't understand why that was.
Starting point is 00:31:20 I can't gamble on credit. If you're addicted to gambling, you're in trouble with credit card. But I would imagine they just lost the ticket and they never knew. Like they never knew. I don't think it's somebody who knows they're an idiot. They probably just never knew. Or they just were happy with the win and they decided they didn't want the money. It's just the experience of winning.
Starting point is 00:31:37 I got all the numbers. I'm Lunchbox. That's your Bonehead Story of the Day. People are still tagging me on their Instagram stories because they're watching my episode of Running Wild with Bear Grills. I'm so grateful. I'm so appreciative. You know, I see your tags. You can watch it on Hulu if you have Hulu. I'm sure if there's Nat Geo on demand.
Starting point is 00:32:07 Just, you know, the ratings were so good. It was their biggest episode. And I'm just so thankful to you that listen to this show, that allow me to be your leader for a minute. If we're raising money for good stuff, if I'm telling you to watch me on a show, I just appreciate all of that from you guys. And Lunchbox actually brought up a somewhat interesting question
Starting point is 00:32:27 because I did go on this show and I didn't look like a total goof. Would you guys agree? Yes. It was funny stuff. So tell them what you told me, lunch, well,
Starting point is 00:32:35 I wonder if your DMs have been filling up because, you know, you haven't got a lot of chicks in the past because they look at you as kind of a sissy and a girly boy. And so you have a hard time with the ladies. And so you go out there and you're climbing down, you know,
Starting point is 00:32:49 mountains and climbing off cliffs and raging rivers and, you know, you're cutting up, you know, animals and sleeping in the wild. So I figure, women are like, hey, maybe this guy's kind of manly. So I just wondered if your DMs have been going,
Starting point is 00:33:01 ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. Well, no, they haven't. Oh, no. I can say, that's weird. I've never been the guy with big successful things or my lowest of low that people, girls were just throwing themselves at ever. So I, one dance with stars, no, I never,
Starting point is 00:33:22 it was never, girls going, I just didn't want to date you know. When I got put on a merry car nado full time, It was never that. It's always like our people going, congratulations, we're with you, we're doing it together. Or my kids look up to you. But it's never like, hey, I want to come over.
Starting point is 00:33:38 Never. But I'm okay with that. I now am 39 years old. I know who I am. I'm just not going to be someone that exudes sex appeal. Dang, even with a show like that? I did think on the show I came across at time. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:52 I was also goofy a little bit and scared. But I thought I handled it. it fine. I know how to clean an animal. I think that was a big surprising part of the show. Because I didn't want to eat that disgusting sheep that we have to eat. It's rotted. But I'm like, all right, well, if we have to do it, I know how to go and find the good meat. Even Bear was a bit shocked. He was, and they didn't show it on the show, but had a knife pulled it down. I started cleaning. He's like, in a strange ton of events, Bobby knows how to clean the animal. And so, but no, the answer is there aren't, although I'm not looking for that right now,
Starting point is 00:34:23 but there aren't a lot of girls there were, by the way, I'd say zero. There were zero girls. Yeah, he said a lot of girls. There were zero girls that hit my DMs going, hey, I saw young beer girls. That's what commits me to, like, be attracted to you. Dang, man, that's weird.
Starting point is 00:34:38 So, if I'm good though, I'm a good place. I don't need it right now. That's all. That's it's it. So, thank you. That's an interesting question. But thank you very much for watching the show to everyone there.
Starting point is 00:34:50 Did you, who, Raymond, did you ever see it or no? Yeah, my girl. Girlfriend, she watched it twice, and she said it's so good. You have to sit down and watch it with me one night, and I did. Uh-uh. What? Uh-uh. Fiancé.
Starting point is 00:35:01 Thank you. Oh, my. I was like, wait, what did he say wrong? You got to get with it, man. He said, as a girlfriend. Yeah, good catch, Bones. It just felt weird when I said that. I was like, you have a fiancé and a girlfriend?

Starting point is 00:38:13 You can get married at a Waterburger, which, by the way, is a burger chain in the southwest. So now they're inviting couples to come get married on Valentine's Day. You have until February 2nd, if you want to get married at Waterburger, go to waterburger wedding.com to make your case. By the way, it's spelled like What a Burger. But I call it Waterburger.
Starting point is 00:38:35 Is that normal? Yes, I call it Water Burger. It's Waterburger. But it's What a Burger. They had an ad for a while that it was just like, what a burger? But it still didn't change it? Nah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:45 So you take the rings and the marriage certificate and they'll take care of the rest. So one couple, we'll get $5,000 for a honeymoon. There are vow renewal options too. So Eddie, I know you're already married. Yes. But you could take your wife and get a vow renewal at Waterberg. What if you went to your wife, though, seriously? Yes.
Starting point is 00:39:03 And said, I'd like to renew our vows at Waterburger on Valentine's Day. I was just thinking about this right now. What was her real response to be? 100%. No. 100%. You're crazy. Stop it.
Starting point is 00:39:13 Why? That's just not her style. but me, that is my dream. I love Waterburger since I was a kid. My whole life has been Waterberger, so why not renew our vowels? She's my wife.
Starting point is 00:39:24 She's my life. It makes sense to me. That's your life. She's your life. Yeah, Waterburgerwedding.com. You get married on Valentine's Day. By the way, Valentine's Day is coming up. Let me just put a note out there
Starting point is 00:39:36 that if you don't remember, you're in trouble. So I'm telling you now, if you give your phone, write something down, Valentine's Day is coming up. either start thinking about making plans or you can even make a dinner reservation today even call somewhere because if you wait too late you'll get nothing except like 9.45.
Starting point is 00:39:53 That's right. So, and I know you've been married a long time. Yeah. So get on it now. Because you don't have to worry about it until the day of. I'm just telling you. It's hard. You're right, man. It's hard to remember.
Starting point is 00:40:07 And then it's the day before and you're like, crap. So thanks for the reminder. Amy, what do you expect on Valentine's Day? Gosh, I mean, we've done, normally we go to dinner somewhere, just us. But this year, I don't know what he has in mind. Or if we'll try to do something with the kids, like is it on the weekend, I think, this year? Oh, man, do you know restaurants hate Valentine's Day on the weekend? Oh, yeah, because it's like they're normally busy on Friday or Saturday night.
Starting point is 00:40:34 So it's like, okay, what's new? But if it's like a Tuesday night, they're like, what about? Yeah, they get that extra business. Yeah, that's true. It's on a Friday night this year. So, oh, that's even a double reason. Get your reservations now. Oh, yeah, because it's just like double busy.
Starting point is 00:40:46 Because even all the single people are still going out. Yeah. So now you're finding all the singles. Are helicopter rides expensive? What? Why would you want to do that? Just crossed my mind. Like a helicopter ride across the city?
Starting point is 00:40:58 How cool would that be? Yeah, it's probably expensive. And then lands on a restaurant and then you eat? Yeah, and then do you really want to get an helicopter? What are you watching over there to make you think about that? The Bachelor? I was just thinking like I should do something special this year. And now I have time to plan it.
Starting point is 00:41:10 How long have you been married Eddie? Oh, it's going to be 15 years. So not yet. Yeah, no, no, that's not 15 yet. Amy? What, how many years? 13, and I don't know our plans. Lunchbox?
Starting point is 00:41:21 Four and a half. Here we go. Here's Eddie the tour. You can get, that's what I'm talking about. A helicopter tour. It doesn't say about Valentine's Day, but it says helicopter tour of downtown for 65 bucks.
Starting point is 00:41:33 That's not bad at a person? Probably, yeah. Is that a couple? I would have, listen, I think you probably get what you pay. Listen, I think you probably get what you pay for. What do you mean? Like a first-time flyer? for a helicopter ride,
Starting point is 00:41:45 I'm gonna bet Captain Soling ain't flying that copter. Yeah, that's a good point. You might not get the experienced pilot. You might, yeah. Huh. All right. Yeah, it looks like it's about 140 bucks all in. That's affordable.
Starting point is 00:42:01 But you get... But no dinner. It's a 15-minute helicopter ride. Then we're done. Then, like, drop us off of the house. We're done. No dinner after that. How about you fly you home?
Starting point is 00:42:10 Put the rope out and you go right back down into your front door. Happy Valentine's Day. Here's Amy's pile of stories. So Eddie is notorious for hanging out at the restaurant table way after the bill has come. Right, Eddie? Yeah, I like doing that. It's an experience of hanging out at a restaurant and talking after. What do we learn on this show from someone who worked at a restaurant, me?
Starting point is 00:42:33 If you're going to stay longer, tip them better. Because? Because they work off tips. And the more you hoard a table, the less tips they get. Because you're sitting there while someone else could be in eating a meal, tipping them too. Thank you for teaching me that. You're welcome. Why, Amy?
Starting point is 00:42:49 Well, so get this. There's a restaurant in San Francisco that's testing out a new policy where you have to keep your meal to 90 minutes. If you stay longer, they're going to charge you per person sitting at the table. I love it. I had dinner this weekend. I'd tell you what happened. I go in. I'm on date.
Starting point is 00:43:07 I go in and we have dinner. And by the way, when I'm out with someone and they see me for the first time, and by the way, I've been out with this girl more than once. So now she knows my style of restaurant. I go in. I immediately, they go, what would you like to drink? I know my drink. And I know level two as well.
Starting point is 00:43:22 I know my appetizer. As a matter of fact, if I need to, I can run the whole thing. If I need to. But I don't want to scare them too early. So I go out, here's my drink, which my new drink is, even at restaurants, is a, a grapefruit. Like one quarter sparkling water, three quarters grapefruit, right? Yeah. What?
Starting point is 00:43:41 Nothing. Do you order it that way in public? And I tell them the ratio, too. It's not Starbucks bones. Yeah, no, I do. Eddie, you were with me once when I did it. I know. Amy, Eddie got one.
Starting point is 00:43:51 It's so good, Amy. Eddie's such a hypocrite. He's laughing at me, but he got one. Okay, okay, okay. So I say, I would like a grapefruit and sparkling water, three quarters grapefruit, one quarter sparkling water. Oh, my gosh. Inevitably, the waiter goes, would you like alcohol in that? I'm like, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:44:05 To me with that, 75% grapefruit juice, one quarter sparkling water. So it comes, the appetizer comes at the same time. and then I do, when I order the main course, I also go, I'll take the main course, and you know what, we got to get to a show. Even if there's no show sometimes, I'll go, we got to get to a show, can I get that check too? And so they'll bring the check right after the meal.
Starting point is 00:44:27 Sign it. Dude, big, big tip. If that check comes quick, big tip. So you're the opposite of hanging out. Big tip, yeah. And so I like when I'm doing my last bite, as soon as I go and swallow it, one of my legs already out of the booth,
Starting point is 00:44:41 walking toward the door. That's what I like. Now, it doesn't always go that way, but this 90-minute rule means they're expecting that. So where is this restaurant? Because I'm going to make a vacation to wherever this is next time. Well, San Francisco. It's where it's starting out.
Starting point is 00:44:52 So we'll see if it spreads. Ooh, you would like it because you could visit the full househouse. But isn't everything so expensive up there? Probably. I mean, yeah. But also, I mean, you can make your way around town and not have to spend a lot. Now you're going to have to walk a lot of hills. I don't want to be, because it's so expensive,
Starting point is 00:45:09 a hobo with a stick and a thing on a stick, a bag on a stick. They're the olders. Trying to take the train around. Yeah. Well, that's interesting. I like to go to a restaurant, eat, and then get out. So good for them, 90 minutes. After that, they charge you what?
Starting point is 00:45:20 Is it like a parking meter? Yeah, per person. It says right here that they'll charge you $30 ahead. Oh, my God. So I think they're serious about you getting out. There you go. So it looks like smart contact lenses that project a screen in front of your eyes could be coming sooner than we think.
Starting point is 00:45:39 So, you know, Bobby, you use one of those. Like a teleprompter? What's that screen thing you use? I know it's a teleprompter, but don't you have something you do for talks or? Yeah. Well, I mean, they're the prompters. But when you see President Trump, President Obama speak, and they have those clear prompters, that's what I have. But instead of like a TV prompter where it's putting it into a literal TV screen where it scrolls, these new fancy prompters, which I bought two from when I do like TED Talk type stuff, motivational speeches, they are reflective of the ground. So in that clear screen is a reflection from a TV screen on the ground.
Starting point is 00:46:15 So, yeah. But these are what, the same thing with these contacts? Lenses. So they would go in and when you're looking straight ahead, you see what's happening. I mean, I don't know if you're using it as an app. If you can switch the location and have it straight ahead so your eyes aren't moving. But if you want to like check the weather, you can like look to the right and then boom, the weather will pop up.
Starting point is 00:46:34 That is awesome. If you want to check something else, you look to the left and it'll whatever information you need. Like you could be in the middle of an interview and they said you could program different questions or answers to have in there. And that way they think you're still focused in paying attention. The problem is like I probably be like left, right, left like my eyes. Like I'd be trying to act like I wasn't using my new smart lenses, but I'd be all over the place. We already are in trouble because we don't know people's phone numbers because of our phones. We're losing the ability to know where people live and where locations are because of GPS.
Starting point is 00:47:08 We have all these things that are. because they're being programmed for us so easily, I would definitely wear them. But if we don't start reading books and keeping up with ourselves, we're going to be completely lost and just be a little numb. And then power's going to die. Power's going to go out. We're not going to have a function.
Starting point is 00:47:25 It's going to be at the end of the world. I'm going to be like, I don't know. I would be into it, though. I would wear that. We already have it on our phones. If you would have said the same thing about our phones 10 years ago, it would be like this now. On our phones, we'll have the Internet.
Starting point is 00:47:36 Right. We'll be able to get on Twitter and talk to our friends and we'll be able to video each other on our phone? My point is, yes, that does seem crazy, but our phones having all the skills they have right now would have seemed that same way 10 years ago. Right. Yeah, but I'm into it.
Starting point is 00:47:50 I would do it now. What else you got? Okay, so this is kind of a little, tell me something good mixed in here because there's this guy named Howard Kirby in Michigan and he bought a couch from Habitat for Humanity. He got home and he was like, okay, I mean, I know I only paid 70 bucks for this,
Starting point is 00:48:05 but something about it just feels uncomfortable. So he started digging through it. And that's because the couch was stuffed with $43,000 in cash. Whoa, wow. And so that made it hard and uncomfortable. That's all right. I can do with that. And then what do you do with it?
Starting point is 00:48:21 Well, so I found this interesting. His initial reaction was to keep the cash. So he even contacted a lawyer who said, yeah, you have the legal right to hold on to it. But he said that his faith made him look for the original owner of the couch. And that's what he decided to do was tracked down. the owner and give the money back. But legally, all his. You know, and that's the main story, but you know, lost in the headline is the fact that some guy, I wonder what he was doing to put that thousands of thousand dollars in the couch. Well, like some people don't use banks. Maybe that's
Starting point is 00:48:54 how he was storing his money. But I get that. But again, if I had my money in a non-bank, I would watch that non-bank like a hawk all the time. And when I moved, I would make sure that I would just always think about it. I would watch everybody sitting on it, watch their hands. I would just be constantly watching my non-bank, which is that couch. Well, is lunchbox still keeping money in his mattress, or where do you put it? I had it all over the place. Put in the drawer, oven, mint, things like that. And it's just scary because you forget where it is. And then you end up, like, donating a bunch of stuff and then goes, bye-bye all your money. All right, is that it? Yep, I'm Amy. That's my pile.
Starting point is 00:49:34 That was Amy's pile of stories. It's time for the good. Good news. With Bobby. Tell me something good. When Chase Hanson of Salt Lake City was four years old, he noticed a homeless person and asked his dad why the person didn't have a place to stay. That question and that compassion inspired John to work with Chase to help the homeless by donating food whenever they could.
Starting point is 00:49:58 Now Chase is 10 years old, so it's been six years, and they've been working to help those in need. The father and the son take homeless people out to lunch once or twice a week every week, not only to give them a hot meal, but also to learn their stories. Oh, wow. Over 150 lunches later, they now run a charity called Project Empathy, hoping to get others to create friendships with homeless people. And that's what the basis is.
Starting point is 00:50:18 Like, just create a friendship because it will invest you into lives. And then hopefully, probably you'll care a bit more. And so it's just a great story about a kid and a dad and great parents too. Yeah, I love that. Sometimes we go, these kids are great. They're one. This kid's one. And he just built an orphanage.
Starting point is 00:50:35 and we don't acknowledge the parents and the parenting going on so I love that story that's what it's all about that was tell me something good about 20 minutes away from Little Big Town being in studio they have a new album out this week
Starting point is 00:50:59 and we're going to come in and talk about that play some songs from it by the way if you're new to our show or new to country music here's a Little Big Town song called Pontoon and this is their new song their current single called Overdrinking I'm over drinking
Starting point is 00:51:18 They'll be in. In studio, I have a game in mind where they're going to draw from a bowl and whatever TV show theme song that they get, they'll have to play. Oh, that's awesome. On the spot in Korea. So a little big town on the way. Amy, now with the Morning Corny. Here we go.
Starting point is 00:51:34 Morning Corny. Why did the Energizer Bunny go to jail? Why did the Energizer Bunny go to jail? He was charged with battery. Oh. Nice. Nice. Nice.
Starting point is 00:51:49 That was the. Morning Corny. Maybe the best one in months. Pretty good. Charged with battery. This is pretty good. Lunchbox, what happened on your flight? So I was saving a seat for my wife.
Starting point is 00:52:04 You know, it's Southwest, so you get on and you get any seat you want. And my wife was one of the last ones to board the plane. She's pregnant. And I'm trying to save her a seat. And this guy comes, and there's only middle seats left. And he goes, oh, I'm going to sit right there. And I said, well, actually, I'm saving that for my pregnant wife. and he goes, no, Southwest, you get to pick any seat you want.
Starting point is 00:52:23 I'm going to sit down. And he sits down. Oh, man. And so by that time, there's no two seats together, so my wife ends up having to sit 10 rows behind me. Okay, so here's the Southwest rule. They say that, because I've asked to, like, can we really save seats? And they say, we have no rule either way about saving seats, which means save away.
Starting point is 00:52:47 but if someone enforces their note, they can sit. Oh, that stinks. He didn't want to find another middle seat. I mean, how awkward to sit next to him the whole flight then too? Oh, then you got a two-hour flight of him just sitting there next to me and me looking at him going, yeah, you know, I'm going on a trip with my pregnant wife. I'm trying to go with my pregnant wife and you're going to sit here next to me. It was just really awkward and he put his headphones on. He didn't have a care in the world.
Starting point is 00:53:12 Why didn't he want to sit by you? Was it so far in front of the other seats? I mean, it was. I mean, my wife ended up 10 rows back. So, I mean, I was closer to the front of the plane. Maybe he was in a hurry to get off the plane when we got there. I don't know. But he just saw the seat and he was like, yep, that's the seat I'm taking.
Starting point is 00:53:28 And you did put the word pregnant in your explanation. Oh, I said, oh, yeah, I'm saving the seat for my pregnant wife. And he was like, oh, yeah, well, it's Southwest. You don't save seats. That's the seat I want. Oh, man. I would be like, I don't want to sit by you anymore. I'm getting up.
Starting point is 00:53:43 Yeah, show him. Yeah. But show him what? I don't know. Exactly. I mean. Because I would be so frustrated. Why weren't you and your wife together?
Starting point is 00:53:53 Because I checked in and I'm A list and she's not. And so I was A something and she was C something. And so there's a long gap in between. I tried to save as long as I could. So there is, though, an option to pay $15 to have her jump up to A list. Oh, yeah. I could have done that. Or wait for her and board her with a C.
Starting point is 00:54:13 But the problem with that is that they may be split up. Like I'm on lunchbox aside of you can sit and save a seat because people do it all. And you're saving a middle seat. Right, right. It's a middle seat. No one wants a middle seat. Wow, you must have looked really hot that day, lunchwise. I mean, just so rude.
Starting point is 00:54:31 And I didn't know how to handle it. Like, I didn't know what to say. So I just, I mean, I just sat there and took it. So I know this girl, and she was getting on her airplane. And she was at the airport. She's a very attractive girl. She was at the airport, and she was getting coffee. and there was a pilot behind her
Starting point is 00:54:47 as we're going into the air speaking of awkward at airports right there was a pilot behind her and so they're going to the coffee line and he's like no let me get that coffee for you and like he is flirting with her trying to get her coffee to like hit on her a bit right
Starting point is 00:55:00 no no shame in that but she could tell he's a pilot he has the wings the whole suit everything she's like no that's okay that's okay and he was a bit awkward because she was like no no no no no so anyway they go and they split apart well then she goes and sits in her section
Starting point is 00:55:15 to get on the airplane and then you know the pilot comes out and stands by sometimes by the door it was him oh no she had to get on his flight he was and she was like oh awkward she was like I felt so awkward and she was like did she almost said she felt like she should maybe jokingly because you know if like your teacher or your boss tries to flirt with you you should report them she's like I don't know if I should report him or not no she was kidding she was yeah yeah yeah that was funny well lunchbox and then you got what your wife say when she walked by your seat I said, sorry. She goes, it's okay.
Starting point is 00:55:47 I mean, my wife was just... And he didn't see that and go... Oh, no, he had his headphones on. He just had like he didn't care. I didn't even see me looking at my pregnant wife. You know, she waddled down the aisle. It does seem like a lunchbox thing to do, though, what he did. It's what's funny.
Starting point is 00:55:59 Oh, yeah, that's true. Yeah. Maybe. Kind of like a drink of his own. Because I feel like you would do that to someone. No, I mean, it's a middle seat. If it was a window, I can understand. Like, okay, look, that's a window.
Starting point is 00:56:11 I'm taking the window. But a middle, and especially she's pregnant. I mean, you can see the baby. You can't? You can see the baby? There's a foot? It's a foot out? What do you mean?
Starting point is 00:56:20 No, she's a pop. She has a bump. Yeah, she has a baby bump. Okay. Well, the rule is in Southwest, there's really no rule. So you can save it as long as someone will let you save it. But if they demand to sit down, you got to let them. But what a jerk go, huh?

Starting point is 00:59:20 with the help of American Military University. That's AMU. APUS. slash military. Go! On the Bobby Bone Show now. Little big town. Hey, look who's out.
Starting point is 00:59:34 Hello. Hello. We've seen you a few times, but the first time here in our new studio. This is so fancy. There's always a lot of pressure when someone comes over to your new house. Yeah. Because we got to, you know, we have screens and fancy microphones. I know, I feel like if I was a new artist, because I'm sweating right now as it is, and I've done this, like, a lot of times.
Starting point is 00:59:54 But I do have a fur fur fur. She's bare-legged, though. It looks good. Thanks. I don't know. I want to try one of the legs. You know, is this like, um. The wall.
Starting point is 01:00:04 Is this healing properties? Because I have a pair of Tom Brady P.Js that have this on the inside. Like a honeycomb print? Supposed to repair your muscles as you sleep. Oh. Pajamas. Yes. These walls are actually for acoustic reasons.
Starting point is 01:00:20 It's some kind of fabric that keeps the acoustic in. But thank you for noticing all the fine. It's very fine. There's a lot of details. But I was saying if I was a new artist, do they just start sweating when they walk in here and like, oh, God. I don't know. Mostly, I think. when new artists come in, regardless of the situation.
Starting point is 01:00:37 I think it's pretty exciting for both of us. For me, too. And so, I don't know, I hope they do a little bit because I hope they do in a good way. Like, anytime I'm put on somewhere, I'm like, man, and when I'm feeling nervous, and I, even when I talk to these young performers now on American Idol, I'm like, hey, when you're nervous about something good, that's such a rare feeling that you get to have and stop looking at it as a negative. Like, you should be nervous right now.
Starting point is 01:00:59 If you weren't nervous, you would be broken. So we've been trying to tell our son that he throws up before every basketball game. And because he gets so nervous and worked up. And his coach is very intense. But we keep telling him, you got to use that to your advantage. But that's really hard to understand at nine years old. But you're right. It's a catalyst, you know.
Starting point is 01:01:22 It's like it's good for you. It keeps you, makes you achieve your highest goal, your highest optimum self, I guess. They'll ask me, how do I not be nervous? And my answer is, you don't not be nervous. No, that's not possible. And you're eliminating a step and your climb if you just go, I'm going to be nervous. Instead of going, I'm not going to be nervous, then you get nervous and you got to just go like, I'm going to be nervous.
Starting point is 01:01:43 And when it hits me, I already expect it. Then you can perform away from it. And the more times you're exposed to it, the lesser you'll be. Yeah, the hardest thing I think for a singer getting nervous is the rapid, like, heartbeat. And it's hard to, you know, it's hard to sing when you're like running a marathon, you know. But you're right. You have to find a way to use it to your advantage. A little big town's here with the Stephanie Recordout.
Starting point is 01:02:05 We're going to talk about nightfall coming up in one second. With you guys, when's the last time, Karen, that you got really nervous about a performance? I feel like you guys have done everything at this point, but there are still things that are so cool. It may not even be the biggest things that make you nervous anymore. Gosh, I'm pretty nervous right now. Oh, stop it. Stop it. I'm always nervous right before the show.
Starting point is 01:02:28 Yeah, there was a recent national anthem that I got unusually nervous and I usually don't get nervous. It was at the Titans game. Remember? The buzzer kept going off and we sing at Acapella and I had a pitch pipe in my hand. And we, Kimberly and I obsessively blow the pitch pipe like a thousand times because they'll start playing, Hey Panini. And it's in a different key. Oh, true.
Starting point is 01:02:52 Oh, crap. Here we go again. And then they'll ring the buzzer will be like a B flat or something. Or like, crap. Or a plane will flow. and it'll have a tone. And it kept happening, and I think it just like,
Starting point is 01:03:01 Go, Titans, go! Yeah, it made me crazy. And then so they said, ladies and gentlemen, a little big town, and we went one last time, free! That is the key in case you want to know.
Starting point is 01:03:12 It's memorized pitch. Close. Isn't that right? Is it E. Flag? You guys do in each other's ear? Oh, yeah. Over and over. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:20 The new record is called Nightfall. I'm going to play a little bit of that song here. Here is Nightfall from Little Big Town. So you Nightfall's name of the record, and it's a song, how do you pick the song that you named the record after? Like, what's that process? Because one of them, maybe, is that record.
Starting point is 01:03:53 Why did you pick Nightfall, the song in the record? I don't know. Sometimes I think an album starts telling on itself throughout the process, and this one kind of did that. And we had the song, but it just started that concept of what happens at nightfall. all the things that go on during that time and how beautiful.
Starting point is 01:04:12 So many memories we make during nightfall. And so that was just kind of like where it started. And the songs kind of fell around it. Yeah, I mean, nightfall can be romantic and then can be lonely. Why'd you look at me when you said lonely? She was looking at the rest of the room for the first part. And then she looked at me and goes, or lonely. I know that your New Year's resolution that you're going to have a relationship.
Starting point is 01:04:38 this year. I heard that. Well, my first one is to be on my phone more. That's my first year's resolution. Seriously? You be on it more? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I feel like I, but that's probably how you're going to meet somebody. Yeah, yeah, why not? I feel like phone gets a bad rap, honestly. I do too. I wouldn't connect with 90% of the people that I know in my life without the phone. I do too. Interesting. I'm such a visual person that I love, like, Instagram and stuff. And it doesn't keep me from my life. It honestly doesn't. And I'm pretty good at going, all right, it's not phone time. But I feel like I learn a lot.
Starting point is 01:05:09 The phone gets a batter app. I agree. I'm with you. Thank you. We all use it. You're going to meet your love on the phone. It's coming in the new year. Is that like what, excuse me, Tinder?
Starting point is 01:05:20 Tinder was the thing for me. Tinder now has turned into a hookup app. There are like different levels of apps and what you use them for. First of all, you can get on Craigslist and who knows what you're going to get. All my behind the Waffle House meetings were on Craigslist. Tinder Tinder is where you go If it's just a hook up
Starting point is 01:05:39 And then you know You just kind of What do you do? Are you allowed to do Amy? Why do you look at me? I have a question Are you allowed to date on American Idol? What do you mean date?
Starting point is 01:05:48 Each other? Well, me or them or them each other? Well just anybody like if you If there was a Yeah, a great singer on the show And you had chemistry Would you be allowed to Or is there like some huge thing
Starting point is 01:06:01 Like Or like if Orlando didn't love Katie anymore. Could you you and Katie? There are no rules. There are no rules against it. They haven't come to me. You mean, you could mentor a contestant.
Starting point is 01:06:16 Mentor. Well, I would wait until the show was over because I would, because I, on that show, they let me tell them what to do and they have to do it. It's crazy with the bound of power they came out. So I could like make other people do bad things and be like, no, you should really go do I'm a little teapot, try to get my
Starting point is 01:06:32 person over. So I would But there are no rules. So you'd have to wait and just let this show be over. I'm kind of shocked there's no rules. Well, I'd also like to say this is interesting because Luke Bryan are dating now. And I'm glad that you guys. I knew and I could see the way y'all looked at each of them. Bring that up.
Starting point is 01:06:47 That's awesome. With all the hits you guys have, how are you now doing the play the hits versus the new music? Like what's that process, Jimmy, with Little Big Town when you make a set list? Oh, man. You know, that is a hard one because it's all just about flow. and how the show moves, you know, through from beginning to end. And, you know, sometimes, you know, we're in that process right now with making this new set list with the new songs.
Starting point is 01:07:17 And we have most of the, actually all of the record in the tour show that we're probably going to have to go back and pull some of those out. We get very romantic about music and the songs and wanting the fans to experience something. different than the last tour. So, you know, sometimes we overestimate and then we learn lessons on the first run of shows. Well, we're not doing that song. That's not going to flat.
Starting point is 01:07:45 You learn the hard way in a way, you know, because you'll play something and be like, well, we do tend to love the moments that people don't know as much. Because it's new to you. It's new to us. You've done these hit songs a thousand times. Now, just speaking as a fan, when I go to a show, the great thing about going to a music show is that I love to hear the hits over and over and over again, right?
Starting point is 01:08:08 Because I may only get to see you guys once every two years. Absolutely. So, but do you ever see when it's a new song, people like not caring? Are they get up a good, get beer or something? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:19 And it is hard and painful. But I'm still having a great time. It's okay. You'll get your beer. I like it. You'll get that beer. I get my feelings hurt. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:30 I'm like, oh. But I bet they also did that. You sit down, mister. The first time you guys did Better man. I mean, it's with people hearing music, because we are in a different way in the music industry, we hear songs so many more times than if someone were just listening to the radio or getting on their Apple music playlist.
Starting point is 01:08:48 So we hear it 10,000 times. I may hear it for four, and they don't know this song. That's true. And so it's probably a bit of a check, like you said for you guys, when we jump out and do a bunch of new, exciting music and people are like, play girl crush. Boom, knocks. And you're like three songs in and they're screaming. They're screaming boondocks.
Starting point is 01:09:04 We'll get there. We'll get there. We're going to play it. What do you think? We're not going to play boondogs? Here's the question for you guys. Little Big Town is in studio now. If you had to eliminate one, which you do not have to, but for this exercise, you have to eliminate from the show, Girl Crush, Pontoon, boondocks, or Better Man.
Starting point is 01:09:23 Which song do you not play? Girl Crush, Pondoon, boondogs, or better man. Which do you eliminate? Pondoon. Or better man. Oh, Amy just left the show. Amy's mad. I would say that.
Starting point is 01:09:38 Nobody said the one I would eliminate. Better man? I think better man. No, boondocks. Yeah. No. You would eliminate that. No way.
Starting point is 01:09:45 Because I would keep pontoon. Are you kidding? I think we would have an uprising if we left out girl crush or boondocks. So those have to be? They would riot. You have to do. You get a lot. If I go to your show and you don't do that, I'm going to Yelp and giving you a bad review.
Starting point is 01:10:02 We can't leave help. Boondogs. We would never do a show with any of those songs. See, it comes down to those two. Betterman Better Man or Butterman. Butterman. Or yeah, pontoon. It would come down to those two. What? No.
Starting point is 01:10:16 I know. Like, I would have to have that. Okay, the guy that went to get his beer on the other song, if we didn't play Boondocks, he'd be really mad. There are a lot of artists here in town that have open bars. Have you guys thought about doing one of those down in Nashville? Yeah. We have thought about it.
Starting point is 01:10:33 it? We have a wine and we have four sellers wine. We have four sellers which is like the more sophisticated wine and then we have day drinking which is canned wine and it has taken off and it's like those things that you don't know are going to happen and now it's in Publix and Croger and Target and so we're super grateful that people like to drink I guess I don't know. But yeah we've thought about it because of that
Starting point is 01:10:57 reason but it is it's overly saturated. There's a fine line Like Luke and Jason, they've done it really well, and FGL House and Blake. So, but there is no female presence down there. Can I suggest a name of a part? Yes, please suggest the name. Maybe the Little Big Town Pontoon Saloon. That's so cute.
Starting point is 01:11:19 Pondoon Saloon. Why don't we just put it on wheels and go up and down Broadway? No more of those. You talk about oversaturation. Here in town, I used to live downtown and I would come. And I wouldn't be home on a lot of weekends because I would be out doing comedy or music, and I would come back on the occasional Friday or Saturday and I couldn't get to my house
Starting point is 01:11:34 because it was all of these mobile bachelor at parties. There are swimming pools that drive around. There are tractors. There are buses. See, a pontoon would fit, but I'm with you. It's so annoying that we just can't do it. We can't do it.
Starting point is 01:11:51 How many buses does Little Big Town take out? I think we have. Because there are a lot of families now involved. I think we're five or six right now. And so that means there's one for probably Jimmy and Karen because you're married there's two that's on you good for you
Starting point is 01:12:05 hey listen there are boundaries for every relationship but I'm assuming you're on this give her any ideas I'm assuming you're on the same bus we're on the same bus yes Kimberly you and you have family bus and the Jimmy have family bus yes Philip sorry I answer to both names he was already answering yes okay and so but who the crew has a bus
Starting point is 01:12:24 the crew has a bus the catering and slash like well the crew divides up so it's like band and tour management crew catering it's always so interesting you ever think about putting your own face on your own bus
Starting point is 01:12:42 we had that that was our very first bus experience so wait but why people know that you're on it well that and because it was sponsored by someone and so they put our faces all over it and it was massive it was embarrassing
Starting point is 01:12:57 it was embarrassing and then we lost our record deal after that and we literally waved goodbye to that bus and we were like it's gonna be a... It was a piece of... It was gonna be a long time before we get on a bus again
Starting point is 01:13:10 and it was... People thought we were Trick Pony on that bus. Remember Tric Pony? I do remember Tric Pony, yeah. The funniest part was the back window opened up right where my face was so I could pop my head. My real head was.
Starting point is 01:13:21 I had fun with that. A lot of times when you guys play you have the guitar and you do this morning as well. I don't know why I have it. I just... I was slid with it. Is he the best guitar player of all four of you?
Starting point is 01:13:33 I don't know about that. I'll ask you, is he the best guitar player? They're both good, but yeah, he's the most seasoned, for sure. I've been playing a while. Yeah. When did you get your first guitar? Ma'am, when I was about 14. Actually, kind of later, though.
Starting point is 01:13:50 Yeah, right? Yeah, I didn't start playing guitar until I was in this band. Really? Yeah. I started when I was 30. You weren't 30. I was 20. Okay, hold on a second.
Starting point is 01:14:02 So, Philip, Jimmy, the band that you're talking about was what? What's that? This band. I think he said his band. I was like, was there another side project that I know what's happening there? No. Back in the early days, just out of necessity, I started playing. Do you know all the opening licks to all the songs?
Starting point is 01:14:18 I don't know. I would freeze in the moment. So if we were to say pontoon. Let's see. I can't do that. Well, I already gave it to you. That one's hard. That one's on a mandolin
Starting point is 01:14:30 That's on a mandolin And it's a scinthe weird Hey move down the front board Don't you got it Pretend it's a mandolin Yeah There you close enough There it is nice good
Starting point is 01:14:43 Okay okay okay Let's run out of the one What about girl crush? Let's see What about Better Man Let's see That's see That's another weird one
Starting point is 01:14:58 Because it's played on That little electric Mando It's like Da da da da da da da I know. I don't have the key. I know. That's the problem with Bill of playing guitar
Starting point is 01:15:10 is that he starts things in his own key. You know? And then I'm like, I've got to go through the file. What's your favorite song to play, Philip, of all of them to play? When you just get to take the guitar and like this is the one,
Starting point is 01:15:20 I look on the set list that I really get to lay into it. You know, right now it's... Oh, yeah. River Stars. Nightball. No. Oh, baby.
Starting point is 01:15:40 Nightfall That one. And that's track nine on the new record, by the way. I have the whole list here, by the guy, yeah. Let me play a little bit of Next to You. This is the first track on the record. By the way, Little Big Towns here. The album is Nightfall.
Starting point is 01:15:53 Here is Next to You. I don't say it enough. I've been down on my luck. But I'll be fun. Next to you. You know, I was looking at you guys' tour. You're going to be. in a lot of cities.
Starting point is 01:16:20 January through May, like rolling, right? Yeah. And Caitlin Smith, a dear friend of mine who I love, you guys have out opening, she's so good. So good.
Starting point is 01:16:30 With all of these dates, and you're doing, like, some of these cities twice in a row, that's pretty cool, right? Is that risky to you, though? Because I would be scared I'll put a show up
Starting point is 01:16:39 and everybody coming to the first and nobody coming to the second one because everybody showed up to the first one already. It's scary. But, you know, having the same city, you can kind of settle into a place
Starting point is 01:16:47 and also we can do different things on the second night than we did the first night, add in different songs, and that's exciting. What's rehearsal like for a tour? Brutal. We've been... It's been intense. Yeah, we've been, we set up at the Opry. They have a backstage area that you can rehearse in and to see production for the first time. And and then we rehearsed in there for a few days. Then we moved it to T-Pack. And there's another fuller room over there, the Polk Theater or whatever. And so then we, we rehearsed in there for a few days. And so then we can see the production more full scale like it will be it.
Starting point is 01:17:21 Well, we're playing Carnegie Hall and then we're playing the Apollo. We have all that marked off where we know where every city, like the Chicago theater, the dimensions of the stage. The show is very immersive, so it like takes you on the journey of nightfall visually. And it's just been a lot to figure out and tweak and get right. And then you change songs and then you change content. And there's just a lot that goes into it. It's super fun.
Starting point is 01:17:49 It's like I love the visual side of what we do and even thinking about like what will wear at Carnegie and down to every last little detail and hoping that it all comes together for the fans. So there's a choreography to the tour more so than just going up and singing songs. What you're saying. You're moving with like the screens
Starting point is 01:18:08 and that's what you've been practicing. And I mean we're just playing this record for the first time outside of the studio so it's kind of always a relearning. and so it's all of that. And making the hits feel different for the fans. Like some of them, you know how it is when you play something like, they want to hear Pontoon a certain way.
Starting point is 01:18:28 But then we want maybe like Little White Church to feel a little bit different than it did before. So changing those up a little bit, you know, I don't know. Another dangerous thing. People are like, that's not the version. I'm going to tell you, like I love Counting Crows. And I would go to Counting Crow shows and Adam Dirtwood would sing a whole different song, a whole different key. He'd extend words.
Starting point is 01:18:46 I'm just trying to sing along. All I want to do is go, it's been a long December, and he's like, it's been a long long distance. I'm like, it's not even the same song, man. Yeah, we're not doing that, I promise. It's a chandelier version of Little White Church. Take me down to the Little White. That would be amazing.
Starting point is 01:19:07 A Little Big Town is in studio with us. Their record is out. It is called Nightfall. We're going to play over-drinking, which is, a bit tricky with the title because you think you know, a little play on word here, right? You're thinking like you're drinking too much
Starting point is 01:19:23 but it's not. It's like over drinking. Yeah, I'm done drinking over you. I'm still drinking. I'm still drinking. It's just not about it to drink for me. If I'm drinking, it's because I'm happy. It's not over you anymore. When you heard this song, who was, of you guys, who heard this song first? Or did you guys hear at the same time? Jimmy did.
Starting point is 01:19:40 I heard. Only because I was still awake and got a text. Karen was in bed already. and I got a text from Jesse and his wife Stevie, and it was just a little clip, video clip of them cutting it at the beach. And I was like, ah! And Hillary Lindsay just singing her booty off. I didn't hear it, but I was like, oh, I'll listen to it in the morning.
Starting point is 01:20:02 And then when I got up and heard it, I was like, oh, my gosh, I want to hear this whole song. So I started texting all the writers. It was like Ashley Goreley and Carrie Barlow. And I was like, somebody please send me the full song. Like, that sounds incredible. And they were all hung over. so nobody was texting me back except for Ashley who doesn't drink and so I finally got him and I was like will you wake up your drunk friends and tell somebody to send it to me is it ever a race to
Starting point is 01:20:29 we'll just call it calling dibs called dibs on a great song that you hear well see that's what I never heard back that night and I was like there is no way that they have already gotten that song to somebody we were like oh great Carrie's got it or somebody's got it somebody's already because that's happened so many times we called dibs on girl crush immediately or it would have been somebody else's fast. We actually called Dibbs so hard on Girl Crush that with the girls we were writing with them
Starting point is 01:20:56 we said please don't ever play it out please don't ever don't play it for your publisher like act like the song doesn't exist when you do that is there a commitment then to cutting it because there's a process between putting a song on hold which is calling Dibbs on it and getting it and then going we're really going to invest and tracking and cutting the song But when you jump on it quick, do you feel like we've made them put this so we now owe it to at least cut the song?
Starting point is 01:21:22 It's an unspoken commitment. But both sides know, okay, you pretty much committed. You better make it happen. We're writers, too. We would want to be honored the same way. So, yeah, we're like, we mean it. We say we're going to cut it. We want to cut it.
Starting point is 01:21:34 And sometimes things don't work. Like, I'll tell you right now, we had American kids. Yeah. We cut that in the studio with Jay Joyce. And it wasn't our song. and we heard that Kenny wanted it and we were like that's Kenny's song
Starting point is 01:21:51 and we just didn't force it because it was like it seemed obvious to us now a lot of people would say we're stupid for that because then that ended up selling like a massive amount of records but it might not have if we had sung it
Starting point is 01:22:07 you know so I don't know songs end up where they're supposed to I think is that version existing somewhere I don't know on it a hard drive at Jay Joyce's play Yeah, that's what I like to have. It was cool.
Starting point is 01:22:20 It was cool. Just to hear that. A little big town is here. Well, I know you guys, you're pretty tired from touring for the, or rehearsing for this tour. But would you play a little game with us? Because you have your guitar, fill up. Yeah, I don't know if it's useful in this moment, but. In this bucket here, I have a lot of TV theme songs.
Starting point is 01:22:43 Things like the Jefferson's moving on up. Cheers. Fresh Prince of Belle Air. There are like 20 shows. And so what if we draw three of these separately and then you perform the TV theme song that comes up? How do we feel about this? Give it our best. Okay. All right. We walk this bucket over to them. A little big town is in the studio. This is what's making me sweat. I'm sweating now too. This is just music. I have feelings about this. This is dramatic music. We can't sing anymore. We've been told not to sing with the real artists. Really? I love it when y'all sing. You've been told not to sing. Oh, we're picking three. Just one at a time. We'll do one at a time. You have one. What is the first one that you drew?
Starting point is 01:23:19 Brady Bunch. Okay. And now, Little Big Town. Oh, wait, what's the key? The Brady. No, wait. What is the key? I sing a country. We're going to sing it, like, different.
Starting point is 01:23:33 Is that a good community? Get a good country, G. It starts with here's a story. Remember? Yeah, you got it? I don't know. Here's a story about a lovely lady. Who was bringing up three very lovely girls.
Starting point is 01:23:51 And all of them had air of gold. Just like their mother, the youngest one in curls. How far do we have to go? That's good enough. I like that. That's good. All right. Good, good, good.
Starting point is 01:24:04 I don't want to even look at your Instagram because I feel like people are going to be like, they suck. Nope. Get old dominion in the studio. That was so good. That was so good. Yeah, it was so good.
Starting point is 01:24:13 Okay. Here's the second one, right? That's right. Little Big Town in the studios. The second one is... I know like one line from now. Oh, the Jefferson's. To Lisa.
Starting point is 01:24:25 So the first line would be... What is the first line in the first? Beans don't burn in the kitchen. That's the bridge. It is? Bees don't burn on the grill. Took a whole lot of trying in just to get up that hill. Now we're up in the big league.
Starting point is 01:24:41 It's not turn out that. Longed we live That you and leave Ain't nothing wrong with that Well, we're moving on up Moving on up To this time I don't think those are the right guitar
Starting point is 01:24:53 We suck We don't know the difference That sounds great We don't know the difference You're killing it To the least side I'm finally got a piece of the power That's so good
Starting point is 01:25:09 Yeah don't overthink it It sounds so good That's awesome This is making me sweat. I'm having a house. One more, a little big town here. They're drawing from the bucket. Karen is reaching in and she has...
Starting point is 01:25:21 I don't know that key. I had no idea where you're at. I'm cheating. She has chosen. I can't believe I remember all those words. Isn't that crazy how that stuff sticks in your head? Almost muscle memory. Like, yeah.
Starting point is 01:25:30 Oh, here we go. Up and down the road and back again. You're my pal and a confid on. Go golden girls. Thank you for being a friend. Lunchbox, what are the rest of the words? Come on. No idea.
Starting point is 01:25:50 Back again. You're a pal and a confidence. Go high. Here it goes. You know it? And if you threw a party. Oh, yeah. And invited everyone.
Starting point is 01:26:03 I don't know that part. You know? I don't know that part. So the real thing, like, Andrew Gold wrote that song, and it was like a four-minute song. It has so many verses, and you would have no idea. And they just took that first verse of that. Yeah, I didn't know.
Starting point is 01:26:15 That's a great verse, though. I love that verse. Which one? And if you threw a party. Invited everyone you knew. You would see the biggest gift would be for me. And the card attached would say, thank you for being a friend. That's good.
Starting point is 01:26:32 I love that song. Yeah. Go, Andrew Gold. I don't feel like we finished well, but thank you for helping us, Bobby. I'm excited to you guys have new music out. I want to play one more from the record before we play another one of your songs. This is one that I really like. Bluebird is right? And that's, that's, because I listen to the record through and there's always a
Starting point is 01:26:53 couple songs, the first listen where I'm like, man, that one kind of hits me the right way. This is Bluebird from Little Big Town. Bluebird flying beneath the clouds she's got somewhere. And that's, that's, right, that's, you guys all kind of reacting like I did when I, that, that is one of my favorite songs on the record because it just feels like a Ray of Sunshine. You know, it's kind of like that break after a dark night and the sun starts breaking through. That's what
Starting point is 01:27:47 that feels like to me. Thank you for playing that. Did Casey's record, wrote that with him. Daniel had me do almost like a therapy session that morning. He was making me lunch and he was like, write down everything that you love on one piece of paper. Y'all should do this. It's really
Starting point is 01:28:04 fun. On one piece of paper, write everything that you love. So like, it could be like, whatever. Anything, right? Anything. Fashion, whatever. Coca-Cola, wine. Jimmy, you know, so you just write down everything and we were just talking about it and then I folded up my little piece of paper and we went in and we wrote Bluebird and I was like, that's so affected the way we wrote that day. We wanted to write something that felt like a positive, you know, statement. Something we would say to our children, you know, that you can't ever get away from. from our love. I'm always going to be there for you.
Starting point is 01:28:42 Now you're talking to me now? Either way. You were my child, yes. Okay, so Little Big Town, all their tour dates are up, and man, you guys are all over the place. January through, January through May. So go check out the tour, and the record is out now. It's called Nightfall, and, you know, we appreciate you guys coming in.
Starting point is 01:29:00 Thank you. We love you guys. Thanks for all the support all the years. And I want your fans that are streaming to know that I have a dress on. It looks like I don't have clothes on. You're sitting in your coat. You do have a fur coat over a dress.
Starting point is 01:29:12 I do have a fur coat over a dress. And if I didn't know when I was going to be on a tall platform, I should have looked up the dimensions. My apologies. It's a dress. She looks cute. And it's faux fur. I know you wanted to correct that.
Starting point is 01:29:23 It's faux fur, for sure. No, listeners that are about to, for sure. But if it was vintage real fur, how do you feel about that? Well, my mom, I got something from my mom that she had from the 70s, and her name is engraved on the inside, or embroidered on the inside. It says Judy Moffitt, and it's box. And it's just like that. It's that cut.
Starting point is 01:29:41 And I love it. But I feel bad sometimes are weird out because I feel like I'm getting judged. But I just want to be like, it's my mom. That's the ultimate recycling. I did get judged. I had on a vintage fur one time. And I was like in a, sometimes I'll go out like flea market shopping when we're on the road. And I remember that lady came up to me and she was like, is that real fur?
Starting point is 01:30:03 And I say, well, I didn't. In public someone came up to you? I didn't kill the animal. Like, this was passed down. It's like vintage. She's like, okay. Yeah. I didn't know that that was a thing to where you could credit vintage.
Starting point is 01:30:16 Because I have a friend who's run a leather jacket the other jacket the other day. And I was like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. You're like good for whatever you want to do, but that's not consistent. And he said that it's from like the 70s and he's not helping the industry it already existed. Yeah. But that's the case. Well, all these plastic water bottles exist, too. I'm just drinking out on there.
Starting point is 01:30:36 I know. I have some of my grandmothers, too. And they're so special. I don't care if they were made a plastic. They were my grandmothers, and they're just special. So I feel like we should get a little grace in. That's how I feel like with the asbestos house I live in. I feel like it's been there for years.
Starting point is 01:30:50 You'll be fine. I love, too, that you guys are having Adam Bobo on. Nurse Bobo. Yeah, he's like one of my dearest friends. He comes over. I mean, he works with me probably like he works with you guys. Bobo's a good. Just keeps me healthy because I'm on the go all the time.
Starting point is 01:31:06 I text him. the day, and it was probably stupid, it was during the Titans game and he was working, but I was like, I'm intermittent fasting right now. So I was like, hey, if I put cream in my coffee, can't do that. And he goes, L-O-L, you're busting your fast. And I was like, oh. Only black coffee and like whatever tea. Water, black coffee, black tea.
Starting point is 01:31:30 Yeah, Adam, well, Bobo's serious about the fasting because to me, lemon water doesn't break a fast? But he says it is. No, I have a little bit of lemon because it's not really, there's a certain amount you can stay under and it shouldn't break it. I agree. That was part of it. He's like, no, no, no. That was my next text to him was like, can I put a slice of cucumber in my water? And he was like, no. Oh, my gosh. You can't put anything. Okay. I mean, he had a little too much. Like right now I'm on hour. What hour are you on for you? Actually, I can get in it right now because I do 5 p.m. I'm done eating. And the 9 a.m. Holy smokes, you stop eating at five in the afternoon.
Starting point is 01:32:06 To be fair, Jimmy, I go to bed at like six? Well, I go to bed at 8, 8.30 if I'm not traveling, because I wake up at 3.30. You know what? That would cut out a lot of calories if I went to bed that early. And I was reading about fasting. For some people, it doesn't work the same, right? But they say, even if you're not doing it for the fasting reasons, it limits your calorie consumption because you're watching exactly when and what you're eating. I've been doing it for years.
Starting point is 01:32:29 And then do you have restrictions as to what you can eat? Oh, sorry. I don't really eat. I try not to eat a lot of sugar anyway, so I eat pretty healthy. My normal is right. But what are the rules for that? Like in that... If I'm doing, before I have to do like a whole American Idol live show thing,
Starting point is 01:32:46 I'll go like do like keto for it, because it's not sustainable forever, but I'll do like keto. I did keto for three months up until just a couple weeks ago. That's a long time. Yeah, I loved it. I felt great. And then what, though? And then my cholesterol was through the roof.
Starting point is 01:33:02 See, we wanted to ask you guys All you health gurus in the room I'm looking at you lunchbox About that Like keto I feel like it's great For when I want to Be healthy in a reduction
Starting point is 01:33:17 But it's not going to stay And I think to try to maintain that life Any of these Fad type Some of them are healthier than others And they're for short bursts Whenever you need to them Yeah
Starting point is 01:33:29 So Keto I felt amazing. That's the best I felt a long time. Something else that I do that is good and I've been reading about is instead of running 30 minutes you can actually jump rope 10 and it's really the same thing. Cardio-wise and fat burning.
Starting point is 01:33:44 I call it microbursts. Yeah, so you've read about this too. So jump rope's easy. I hate running. I hate it. I hate it. Jump in road. The hardest part for the intermittent fasting thing for me is working out in the morning and making day. Yeah, because I would need something.
Starting point is 01:33:59 But as a female, how many hours are you all going? Bobo kind of thinks 14 for a woman is better than... 16. Yeah, than 16. Well, hormonally, but Kimberly, you've been doing it for a long time? Probably 16. But, I mean, I've been doing it for a long time, but I put cream in my coffee. Okay.
Starting point is 01:34:15 I've been doing it all the time, but I break the facts. She stops eating at 3.30. No, I stop eating about 8, and then I don't really... Very disciplined. She's been doing that before anybody even called it. Why didn't I write the book? That's called being broke when I was a kid. We just didn't eat dinner.
Starting point is 01:34:30 Back before intermittent fasting. thing about time for the rich. It was just called being broke. One hour 22. True, true. If you want to eat tomorrow, you better save that portion. What do you guys do for physical fitness? Anyone have a Peloton?
Starting point is 01:34:44 I do. We do. I do yoga. You do yoga too? Pelotone's great. I do it. I have one in my house. I do it a couple times a week.
Starting point is 01:34:50 Yeah, it's great for when you can't get to the gym or whatever and you need to get a But do you all go to the gym, like Little Big Town at the gym? I do. I do. I go. But do people, is it a gym where it's like? Like only famous people or normal people? No, no, there's everybody.
Starting point is 01:35:05 Everybody's in there. We're in with, like, there's a couple of guys training for the NBA right now. They're in there. And then there's old, then there's, and then there's granddaddy that's been coming to that gym since he was like 12. And he walks up and down the little track in the middle, and then you'll walk by and pick up the fives and do this for a minute. And he puts him back down.
Starting point is 01:35:25 I was like, I want to be that dude. That's me. I think you guys are watching me working. You know what? I want to do the. I want to get a little trampoline. Oh, I have one. You have one?
Starting point is 01:35:34 You love it? Yeah, it's good for your lymphatic system. Yeah, but I have some back issues, and apparently if my back's inflamed, I shouldn't do it. But when it feels okay, yes, it's really good. Gwyneth does it. Trampoline. I feel like anything Gwyneth does. My sister got me one.
Starting point is 01:35:49 Lecfit, I know. I've signed up. I get the emails. Lexfit. But have you gotten on there and tried to do what she does? Yes, it's hard. I feel like I'm going to fall off. Like go flying into the mirror.
Starting point is 01:35:59 So why is trampolining good for your lymphatics system? and bouncing is good for it. Well, any kind of jumping, but it's like something about the trampoline and shakes all the secretions. I box like four times a week and then ride the Peloton a couple times. You do? Yeah, Tidal. Yeah, he used to go to Tidal. Yeah, I love that too.
Starting point is 01:36:17 That jack my neck up there. Does it bother your wrist? No. I also. Jared, he's awesome. Yeah, yeah. I mean, I have pretty wimpy wrist, so I just, I punch with my elbows. I do this the whole time.
Starting point is 01:36:29 Yeah. Pretty fun. That's good cardio That's how I would punch And also I'm not trying to fight anybody Right Me either This is not
Starting point is 01:36:39 It's cardio I'm not trying to punch through holes Through walls through wall Okay a little big town is here Listen always a pleasure Talk to you guys Good to see you Love your new digs
Starting point is 01:36:47 And check out nightfall And they'll be on tour all over the place For sure they're coming to you And they will play the hits But they may play them in a different language Or slower You heard it here As long as they're entertained
Starting point is 01:36:58 They win Yes They are now K-pop band called Little Big Town. Thank you guys. They are a little big town. The Bobby Bone Show is proud to be supported by Grand Canyon

So what he did was he trained and started using a robotic, exoskeleton that straps to his legs. And he completed a full marathon walking. It took exactly 33 hours, 50 minutes, and 24 seconds, which beat the previous record holder. And it took him a year of training. And this wasn't his first attempt.
Starting point is 01:40:42 He actually tried walking the Los Angeles marathon last year, but he had to stop 17 miles in. But he didn't let that set him back. He continued training. And he says he did it simply to send a message to people that your disabilities and adversities should never define who you are. A couple messages here. First of all, it's, okay, he didn't complete it the first time. Get up and keep working and do it again.
Starting point is 01:41:05 Regardless of the situation, like, that's the first message. And the bigger message is that, too. Yeah, and then also how friends and family can come into play. Like, if you have a good support system, that helps too. Like, Charleston is his hometown, so he had a lot of people he knew, like, they're cheering him on supporting him. And they would walk a mile alongside him and, like, take turns on the marathon, just being, like, by his side and cheerleading him on.
Starting point is 01:41:27 That's a good one. That is a good one. That's what it's all about right there. That was Tell Me Something Good. Here we go. Come on, Bobby. All right, time now for a segment we call Overrated.
Starting point is 01:41:46 The whole thing here is to find things that, by the way, are loved, but you think are just overrated. And we should all be offended at what you're saying. Like, if you say something, we all should probably disagree with you. Because what I'm going to say, I was recommended highly. And it was like, wow. So much so. Someone brought some of my dressing room this past weekend in D.C.
Starting point is 01:42:08 and left them for me because they were like, you are missing out. So I'll start now with our segment we call, Overrated! I'll go first and I'm going to go out there overrated Flaming Hot Cheetos. Oh my goodness. You tried. And you know what? They were pretty good.
Starting point is 01:42:24 Yeah. But they weren't what everyone was, like you never tried it? You don't think they're better than regular Cheetos? They're fine. Wow. And they were still fine to pretty. good, but I say from the bottom of my heart, they are overrated. By the way, who disagrees?
Starting point is 01:42:43 I do. 100%. Anybody else disagree? They're a little hot. They're okay. They're a little hot. They're a little hot. Okay. All right.
Starting point is 01:42:51 Amy. Well, okay, so I tried this again because I wanted to give it a goal, and I still stand by my decision that I don't get Game of Thrones. It's totally overrated. I was flying, and I, I had downloaded episode one of season one a long, long time ago and tried to give it a go. And then when I was on a recent fight, I was going through my iTunes being like, oh, what can I watch that I already have downloaded?
Starting point is 01:43:16 And I was like, oh, there it is. I'm going to give it a go. Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope. I'll speak on this and that I am a Game of Thrones lover, but it takes more than one. It takes about four or five episodes to really love it. And I do think as a lover of Game of Thrones, it's also a bit overrated because the hype kind of became what it was more so than the show. still I think the best show of not my favorite show
Starting point is 01:43:37 but I think the best show of my lifetime Oh man I feel so bum that I'm missing out on the best show of your lifetime But it's just not gonna happen The storylines, the money, the actors, what it did to pop culture I think pound for pound probably the biggest And best show of the lifetime
Starting point is 01:43:51 Not my favorite But I can get why you would say that Amy From someone who loves it But we will sing it for you now One two, three, four Overrated Lunchbox Oh, there's a TV show that everybody loves
Starting point is 01:44:09 And I was late to the train on this one And I watch it and it's okay But I don't think it's one of the best of all time Like people say And that's Friends Like... What? I think if you didn't watch Friends back in the day
Starting point is 01:44:21 It's not that good now. It doesn't hold up wonderfully unless you were in it when it happened. Right. And so I watch the reruns is how I catch it And I'm like, oh, this is okay But all the hype it gets people act like It's the greatest show to ever grace our TV. I love friends, but I was having this conversation with someone who is 28, 29 years old.
Starting point is 01:44:41 And she's like, it's fine. I said, oh, because you didn't get to experience it while it was on. If you, it's, I would say, like, the Fresh Prince of Bel Air is what I would compare it to to me. Like, if I watch it now, you're like, this is the stupidest show I've ever seen. But because you watched it when you were a kid and it was so cool, then you still have those feelings about it now. And so I'm watching it now. I love it. But I get why you would say that.
Starting point is 01:45:03 Now, it's not overrated to me because I still get the joy that I've always had from it. Friends, is it overrated anybody? No, I like it. I don't even know that, should we chant to that? Oh, yes, it's his. Oh. We chant to all of them. Yeah, Amy, I might not.
Starting point is 01:45:19 One, two, three, four, overrated. So far we have Flaming Hot Cheetos, which is a great one. Game of Thrones. Eh, friends. Eddie? I feel like you guys are going to agree with me on this one. The first time I've done this ever in my life. I've gone to people's houses while they do this,
Starting point is 01:45:39 but I have never ordered a pay-per-view anything in my life. A boxing match, a UFC fight, a live golf event, nothing. I did it for this Connor McGregor UFC fight last weekend. Oh my gosh. This fight lasted 30 seconds. Well, that's why. And it was over and it spent, I spent $60 on it. I'm like, never again.
Starting point is 01:46:02 this crap was overrated. Only because the fight was so short. Yeah. I think that's about the experience. I think if you had a bunch of friends over and you did a whole night, because I remember once Lunchbox bought a UFC fight, and we watched every fight, and we gambled on every fight, and it was actually a lot of fun.
Starting point is 01:46:17 But yeah, if you're going to pay $60 bucks and watch one fight, and it takes 40 seconds. Yeah, I was, I'll use a better word. I was mad. But no, when I saw the fight go down, I used the real word. I was like, what on earth? That's crazy. Never again.
Starting point is 01:46:32 It's overrated. We'll chant it for you. One, two, three, four, overrated. All right, Morgan, over two. Mine has to be shaking hands. I think we're past the point of having to always shake hands with people. Like, especially at social gatherings, when you meet somebody new, I don't want to shake your hand.
Starting point is 01:46:49 I can just, you know, give you a little wave or give you a hug. But shaking hands is so formal to me. I can sign up for this. Mostly because I don't like to touch other people's hands. You don't. But also, and a little bit on, to her point, if I'm somewhere and I see someone from work or someone, that I see all the time.
Starting point is 01:47:03 Just because we're in a different atmosphere that I may have to hug you. Oh, I feel like you more so hug people because it's like, whoa, hey. No, no, no. If I wanted to hug you, I would hug you at noon today when I saw you by the vending machine. And I didn't.
Starting point is 01:47:14 I'm going to tell you something. There's another man and he's looking at me and he doesn't shake my hand. I think a little less of him. Like, if he doesn't shake my hand, like, how are you doing, Eddie? I'm just like, why didn't you shake my hand? Do you judge a grip?
Starting point is 01:47:26 What do I come about the knuckle dad? That's fine. That's fine. That counts too. The knuckles's fine. Amy asked if you judge grip. I judge grip, yeah. It's got to be a tight, good, good tight grip.
Starting point is 01:47:35 What about the guys that squeeze a little too hard to let you show their knowledge? Then they're trying too hard. Yeah. Handshake's important, though. I'm not into it. I'm okay without it. I like to bow. Like I said, Eastern Culture has it.
Starting point is 01:47:48 There's no germ exchange. Yeah, there's still, you know, bow, but still respectfulness. Yeah, yeah. And also, if I'm doing the DAP and someone's going to shake a hand, I continue with the Dap. If I, for some reason, and I'm going to shake someone's hand and they're coming at me with the dab, I just do the turkey
Starting point is 01:48:02 and just grab the hand. Because it's more awkward to do the, oh gosh, we're trying to figure it out. Just commit to what you put out there. Even if it's the fist and the palm, it is what it is. It's more than the palm fisting to the palm fist, if they don't really know
Starting point is 01:48:16 and you're like, oh. Okay, one last time. One, two, three, four. Overrated. Raymond, do you want a slice of this or no? Yeah, sorry. One of the things to me that I just realized the other day
Starting point is 01:48:27 I've been going to these formal event, necessarily formal, but where you're in public and they're trying to find foods for everybody to eat, and they'll put nachos out there. They're almost impossible to eat in public. You look like a clown. You're spilling it on your shoes. And then also other people are touching the same. You just, when you're at a table and it's a group setting, you just can't eat nachos. I love that my, I'm rubbing off on you guys. I love that you guys are bringing up germ things. All right, that's the last one. Overrated. All right, very good. Thank you guys. You can add yours. No, let's not put those on Instagram because that's going to turn into our,
Starting point is 01:48:59 Facebook. He's going to turn it to a fight. This is one of those that I don't want up because these people are going to be fighting about it the whole time. I'd rather you put up, who's your favorite political person? Oh, even better. Okay, great. We played this game where I play a song, you tell me the movie it's most known from. Amy,
Starting point is 01:49:19 Lunchbox, Eddie, I will give you a song. All you have to do is name that big movie it's from. Ready? Write your answer down if you miss it, you're out. Song number one. That is Cups by Anna Kendrick. Oh, that was just the example? No, no, it's a song.
Starting point is 01:49:46 We're looking for the movie. Oh, dang, I thought the name of the movie is Cups. Okay, let me start over. I had that too. I'm in for the win. Anna Kendrick Cups. I'm so glad you said that. Shoot.
Starting point is 01:50:02 All right, I'm in. What movie is that from? Amy's struggling right now. But, I mean, I know what it is. Five seconds. Amy? Singing club. Oh, the old singing club.
Starting point is 01:50:21 Lunchbox. I put pitch perfect. Oh, that's it. Oh, good. Pitch perfect. Oh, am I out? You're out. Golly, this whole elimination matter of date.
Starting point is 01:50:30 Bye, Amy. Bye. Na, nah, nah, nah. Hey, hey, hey, goodbye. All right, next up. Six pints none the richer. Kiss me. What movie is this from?
Starting point is 01:50:49 She just played the show. I know. And we just talked about it. We got it. Oh, gosh, I don't know. I'm in for the win. Did you write anything down? I did.
Starting point is 01:51:13 I'm in. Lunchbox? Shrek. Eddie? Well, I said parent trap, but I don't know if it's the she's all that. She's all that. Oh, my gosh. She's all that?
Starting point is 01:51:24 The one she comes down the stairs? Dang it. I thought that was the other one. We both got it wrong, though, so are we still in? Yeah. Yes. We'll do a sudden death. between you two.
Starting point is 01:51:32 Buzzin with your name. Are you ready? This is number three. I'm not even, I'm going to say nothing about it just I need the movie that this is from Buzzin with your name.
Starting point is 01:51:40 Here we go. Lunchbox. Bohemian Rob City. Yeah! Nice, nice. Eddie, I need the movie. Go ahead. Wayne's World.
Starting point is 01:51:47 Correct. What were you thinking? There he is. What were you thinking? No, that's the movie just came out about Remy. No, it's Wayne's World. Wow.
Starting point is 01:51:59 There you go. I totally thought you were going to have that one. Hey, I'll take the wind And to be extremely accurate, that is actually Queen singing Bohemian Rhapsody. In Bohemian Rhapsody, the Freddie Mercury movie, that wasn't really Queen singing. Correct. Yeah, that was, so. Dang.
Starting point is 01:52:15 Eddie, nice. That's nice work. What a great morning. You know who sang it in the movie? The guy that was in here, the Bahia Rhapsody, the guy that came in here and sang. That's a stick you in Mike. I didn't even think about that. You didn't think about that?
Starting point is 01:52:27 Did you, Mike? Eddie, you're the winner on that one? Thank you, I have more, though. Amy, you don't play another round? Yes. All right, here we go. Let's play again. Okay, come on, come on.
Starting point is 01:52:33 Hit it. I believe I can fly by it. Unknown artist. An artist who can't love? Does it actually really matter who sings this song. I'm in for the wind. The air singing. Just a good song.
Starting point is 01:52:50 It's just a song we still like this. For no reason, this song's good. We have no idea who sings it. Amy, what's the movie? Space Jam. That's fine. Space Jam. Eddie.
Starting point is 01:52:59 Space Jam. I'm moving on. That is still the jam, though. So good. It is. That's the problem. I tell you. I tell you. I tell you. Next up.
Starting point is 01:53:18 This is Over the Rainbow by Judy Garland. Lunchbox, don't be dumb. In. I know. I know. And then he gives the answer like no problem. All right. Amy.
Starting point is 01:53:45 What do you have? Wizard of Us. Oh, nice. Lunchbox. Home on the Prairie. Home on the Prairie. Oh my goodness. Eddie?
Starting point is 01:53:50 Wizard of Oz. All right. Two remain. Name the movie this is from. See, I wouldn't play. Accidentally on Love by the Counting Crows. Oh, man. And Shrek.
Starting point is 01:54:08 There you go. God. Shrek. Shrek. Oh, man, you're so close. Okay, name this one. This is the hanging tree by James Newton Howard featuring Jennifer Lawrence. What?
Starting point is 01:54:24 What movies is from? So we'd both be free. Strange things did happen. No stranger would it be. If we met at midnight in the entry. Amin. Amy? Hunger Games.
Starting point is 01:54:41 The Hunger Games. Nice. Okay. Name this one. That's Maniac by Michael Sembello. You know this? Yeah. I'll accept two answers on this one.
Starting point is 01:54:55 Okay. Oh. I think I have one. Amy? Tommy Boy. Correct. Eddie? But loose?
Starting point is 01:55:03 No, you were thinking of Flash dance. That's what? That's it. Dang. I would. Did I just win? Yeah, Amy, you are now. Hit it.
Starting point is 01:55:16 It wasn't straight. So who? Amy won, one, Eddie, one? That's right. All right. Sudden death for the total championship. Amy, Eddie, speed round. Okay, I'm going to play this.
Starting point is 01:55:24 I'm not going to tell you anything about it. I just need for you to get the movie. Okay? Say our names. Say your name. And then the movie it's from. Here we go. In three, two.
Starting point is 01:55:33 Eddie. Oh, my. Ray. Oh, no. She was right. Amy? Bodyguard. Ridiculous.
Starting point is 01:55:42 So much controversy. in this audition. This is terrible. I'm riding the committee on that one. So, his finger slipped. You still could have said your name. That's true. A lot of controversy. Man.
Starting point is 01:55:55 Never know. I'm calling the 1-800 number. Dang. Say it right. Okay. Amy, congratulations. Thank you. You are the winner in the movie and music game.
Starting point is 01:56:04 Yeah, enjoy that win, Amy. Starting point is 01:59:38 You've already said your piece. A study that compared the relationship between well-being and age said that the typical individual reaches its minimum point in midlife around the age of 47. Oh, okay, not too far off. Men, because they had to do an average, men reach it in their 50s and women experience in their 30s. So they found that spot at 47, but men a little older because, you know, And then women a little younger.
