The CMT Awards were a couple nights ago, and they asked all the artists a really generic question, but I loved it because I liked hearing all the responses. They said, hey, what's your favorite country song? Talking to country artists, what's your favorite country song? So I'm going to just ask you guys around the room, in some form or fashion this has been talked about on the show, but back to the basics.

Amy, what is your favorite country song? George Strait, Amarillo by morning. Oh, from Santa Tom. Can't argue that one. Eddie, yours? Man, I can't believe she answered so quickly. This was hard. Really hard, but I'm going to go with

Johnny Cash, Folsom Frism Blues. Just because it just takes me back to being a kid. You were born in the 60s. My dad would listen to it. And my dad hated music, but he liked this song. There are only two people I've ever heard that didn't like music. Your dad and Lunchbox. Yeah, so weird.

Who's like music? Who cares? I mean, it's there. Okay. Lunchbox's your favorite country song ever? It's easy, guys. to everyone. How do you like me now? Toby Keith. I mean, it sends a great message. Morgan? Well, everybody knows I love Shania Twain, so it has to be Shania Twain, but any man of mine. Raymond, we know what about yours? Yeah, I'm always the latest Sam Hunt song, so I went hard to forget.

Hold on a second. Your favorite all-time country song? All time. Is Sam Hunt hard to forget? It was Body Like a Back Road, and this has now replaced it. Hey, can't argue. It's his pick. Whatever Sam puts out, it just takes off. Ray, do you get star-struck when Sam comes by?

Honestly, of all the artists that do come in here and actors and movie stars, he would be the one person that I do stumble over my words. I feel a little bit out of body. And it's awkward. I'm usually not an awkward person, but around him, I'm like, hey, man, and I'll answer questions that he didn't even ask me. I'm good, I'm good, how are you? But he never asked me how I was doing.

Why do you think that is? Do you want to be him so bad? I think he's really cool. I love his music. Honestly, it's just an aura about him. It's really just stops you in your tracks. I'm honestly starstruck when he comes in. He's a good-looking guy. He's a really nice guy. Yeah. We went to lunch a few weeks back. Palin and I did. And Sam's such a chill dude. He was he walked in by himself. Came up, said, hey, walked to his table, sat down, eat lunch by himself right behind us. Awesome. Walked out. He's just such a even-kill guy. Sam Hunt ate lunch by himself.

He just walked in and got some food, but it's where I go a lot. I know, but Sam Hunt can be seen in public, eating by himself. Like, just go eat in the car. No, how embarrassing would that be? Sam Hunt eating in his car. Why would he do that? My favorite all-time country song is Garth Brooks, if tomorrow never comes. Where it wasn't hard for me, my second would have been blue eyes crying in the rain,

Willie Nelson. but this is just kind of my introduction to Garth as far as like, oh man, that's an amazing song. So this is it for me. Some of the other ones, Jimmy Allen went with Kenny Chesney's Don't Blink. Oh, good.

Which is a great song. Morgan Wallin picked Keith Willey's Don't close your eyes. Is it? Let it be me. Great song. Sam Hunt. Speaking of Ray, pick George Jones.

He stopped loving her. Do you know why that's a love song? Yes, because he died. That's right. The only way he was going to stop loving her is because he died. Yeah. When you read the title, you're like, this song does not sound nice. No, it's because he loved her so much.

The only way you could get her to stop was by dying. Get him to stop by dying. Yeah, jam. Well, there you have it. You just can't go wrong with Garth, though, right? No, and I wasn't going to pick Garth, but I just feel like if you would have asked me in junior high, Garth for sure, 100%. But now that I've kind of learned all country music, I've got to go back to Johnny. Okay, the question is, should Lunchbox have called 911 for this?

What happened? So we were out for a walk, and we're walking, and we walked by this one house, and there's like this little three-year-old girl just in the front yard, in her underwear, no one else around. and my wife and I look at each other and I'm like, man, that's weird, but the parents must be just coming right back out. And we walk down a few houses and we come walking back because my wife is like, I just don't feel right about it. Still no one out. Just the three-year-old girl.

And we're like, okay, so we go up and knock on the door. Nobody answers. And we're like, hello, anybody there? You know, there's this young girl out here and we stand there for like eight minutes and knock again. No answer. So we walk around the side of the house and we start yelling in the backyard. Is anybody back there?

Hello, there's this young girl out here. And a lady comes out the back door and she goes, what's up? And I was like, oh, this girl was in the front yard. And she's like, oh, how did she get out there? I had no idea. You know how kids are. And she kind of laughs it off and opens the gate

and the girl goes in the backyard. And so I was thinking we should call 911 and we didn't. But now I'm like, should we still call 911? Because the kid was outside. The parent had no idea. And we're knocking on the door. So it's not like they were like listening. Well, you shouldn't call 911 now

because that's an emergency number. If you decided you needed to call someone, it wouldn't be 911. You could call a bunch of places. But that's tough. But once, I mean, you better, if you call child services and open up something that,

I get it. Like, it's a fine line of if that child needs help, then great. But if it was an isolated incident that was just unfortunate and that is the result of it, it could cause that family. a lot of.

Yeah. I understand that. I just did. I was having that internal struggle that that kid was out there and the parents had no idea. And when we knocked on the door to try to get the kid inside because the door was obviously locked because the kid tried to turn the handle and it was locked. I think you did the right thing by going back, waiting with the kid, knock on the door, knocking on the other door. Like that was the right thing to do. My suggestion would be if you see this happen again, then maybe you call because there is a pattern of neglect.

Yeah. And if you are near this house, like keep an eye. eye out. Like, that would be a way you could contribute. Just make, like, keep an eye out. I'm sure there were isolated incidents when I was a kid. Oh, yeah. Where I was doing, God knows what. So, I forgot my kid

in the car one time, I mean, in the front yard. Yeah, it happens. I didn't know he was out there. How did that happen? I just, everyone got out of the car except him. I think he was on his phone or something. And I just, we all got out and I clicked it. Done. And then the pest control guy came. Luckily,

like five minutes after we all went inside. said, I think your son's in the car. And he was like, I'm in the car. And so, yeah. But again, but again, that from the inside? No, that was what? A couple of years ago, just maybe didn't have that strength or know how to do it. Maybe child locks.

Yeah, all that. But I mean, again, I don't do it all the time. That happened one time. And if you had to call Child Protective Services on me, what wouldn't you have my kid? Oh, you wouldn't be a foster parent. Exactly. Yeah, so, by the way, good on you and good on your wife.

Because what you did was exactly right. But I'm like Amy, I'm saying it could be isolated. We all screw up. That's a big screw up, but we all screw up. If you see it again, then maybe. But now I would say no. All right. Yeah, and I would say, yeah, if it's in your neighborhood,

make a point to drive by and just make sure that you can do. I'll be a neighborhood watch because it is a few. Like, go deliver things like fake Amazon. Do your car. Just take a look at the house. By the way, Ray's wedding is tomorrow. What's up with your hair? I mean, I think it looks good.

I was told that Bay, Ray's fiancee is okay with my hair. Right, Ray? I guess she's really understanding right now and she's relaxed in this moment because she honestly said on Twitter, you can do whatever makes you comfortable in your own skin. Well, the big debate was, is he growing it out as a joke? Because it is out of control and his beard's out of control. And you love it. I love it.

I think I look good. And Ray was telling me that I was going to be kicked. He was saying, cut, get a cut or get cut from the wedding. And I was like, is he serious? And now the fiance is with me. I mean, I don't know why he can be upset with my hair and my face and my beard when umpa lupa back there. I mean, it's so brown that he looks like

the situation from Jersey Shore. Oh, Ray is tan. Thanks on tan city. Get you some. Umpa lupa. I mean, how dark are you? Cavs are here? Did you get a spray tan or no? Yeah.

He looks like that episode I'm friends I've seen that what's his name? Yeah, that it gets, oh my goodness. It'll tone down in the showers with they told me at the salon, so we're good. No worries. You look, well, you look orange right now, but it will end up looking pretty good. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He does

look oddly orange. Yeah, but I think it'll be perfect by the time he is walking down the aisle. Will one of you guys let him know if it's not perfect before he walks down there? What are you going to do, scrub him? Get a wet wipe and try to like... Big wedding weekend. Fun fact Friday.

The five most fun facts Amy's found this week. Let's go. Number five. So the Dallas Cowboys are the first NFL team to make nachos popular at stadiums. I guess, do you know who Howard Costell is? I know Howard Cocell is, the announcer. Oh, well. Howard Cocell, he ate them and then talked about them during a slow Monday night football game in 1978.

And then the rest of the NFL got on board and now it's a staple. I do love a great nacho. Do you really? I love a nacho with a lot of cheese. I love a nach with a little bit of meat. I can do just a cheese nacho and it's fantastic but I like a nacho with a lot of cheese and a little bit of meat and I like

peppers. Halipinos. Yeah. I don't really eat peppers anywhere else but a good nacho and a good frito pie which reminds me a high school football. Yes, of course. There should be more frito pies out there. It's fantastic. Number four. So you can send a coconut, a

potato, a sombrero, a brick, a frisbee. The list goes on. through the U.S. Postal Service without a box. What? You just stamp a brick? Yeah, you just have to make sure that you've got enough postage on it and an address label and it will go.

A pillow? That would be disgusting to get a pillow that's been run through all the trucks in the mail. I'm going to try to mail you a potato and see what happens. Okay. Next one up. Number three. So this is ironic and no one knows for sure

when the fire hydrant was invented because the patent was lost in a fire at the U.S. Patent Office in 1836. Don't you think? It's like rain. Number two. So the recipe for Dr. Pepper is a trade secret, and it's allegedly stored in two halves

in safe deposit boxes in two different Dallas banks. It can't be that hard. Can't you reverse engineer that? I mean, Mr. Pips, it tastes pretty close. Wow, that's a good point. You've got to figure that out. I don't know. It was right on it.

They were. Oh, yeah. Of course, that was the, I guess, the generic version of it. No, or I think it's a regional thing, right? Because my family just in Alabama loved Mr. Pibb. Dr. Pepper was Texas for a long time only. And then you got Mr. Pib and you get a parade and everything? No, if we ever traveled outside of Texas, they only had Mr. Pib and we'd be upset.

That's why I think it's a regional thing. Really? Well, for those that don't know, Mr. Pib tastes like Dr. Pepper. Yeah. It may be the other companies. Or it's just Dr. Pepper being like, we can sell more if we create this Mr. Pipp. They create their own rival. Yeah, here we go.

He got about six stories up and he got tired and he was like, hey police, come get me, come get me, come get me. So they had to cut out a window and pull them into safety. Open up the mailbag. Bobby's Mailbag. He writes Morning Studio, my name is Paul. I'm emailing you after having a really awkward moment picking up my daughter from school yesterday. I met her teacher outside, and when we looked at each other, I realized I ghosted her about 10 years ago after a couple of dates. Oh, that is so awkward. What? All she said was, nice to see you again and then walked away.

Dang. Let me pause this email for a second. Morgan, explain to listeners who may not know what ghosting is what that means. So if somebody you were talking to or went on a few dates with decided they didn't like you, they just kind of disappear without a trace. Like they don't say bye, they don't say why, they just straight up disappear. Poof, you're a ghost. Good.

Back to the email. I remember feeling bad that I ghosted her at the time, but I was dating another woman. I decided to commit to her. Well, that didn't work out. But I did meet my wife the next year and now. Well, we have a six-year-old daughter. I didn't tell my wife that I once dated our daughter's teacher, but I think I should. I'm just wondering if I should talk to my daughter's teacher and explain myself.

I'm not sure if that's going to make anything better, but maybe... It is crazy. It will clear the air. I'm just happy. I never pick her up at school, so I don't have to feel this way every single day. Signed Paul. Hilarious story. probably a pretty smallish town

that's like something that happened nearish where I grow up you know here's what I'm going to say maybe you mention it to the wife but you don't talk to the teacher about it you probably tell the wife like hey I went to pick up our kid

did you know I went on two dates 10 years ago with the teacher you tell her because if the wife tells her later you get in trouble if the teacher tells the wife later yeah excuse me if the teacher tells the wife later you get in trouble. So you do a little preemptive strike.

You didn't do anything wrong. But I don't talk to the teacher about it. I just let her live her life. Because it's an awkward conversation for her too. Do you think she wants someone who goes to her to be like, hey, let me tell you why I didn't want to go out with you anymore back in the day? Of course not. You just avoid it. What do you think?

I mean, yeah, I think that that's smart. Talk to the wife about it and then avoid it. But if your kid gets started treated differently because of things, then you might have to go to the principal. And tell the principal what happened. The whole story. Can you imagine? I'll tell you, I just play this clip back for the principal. Paul, quote unquote.

So Matt Stel was recently in Vegas to celebrate a friend's 10th wedding anniversary. And I guess part of the trip and the party was a tattoo artist was on hand inking people there. And so he'd always been thinking about getting a Galileo quote, and yet it moves. So he did it on his chest. And it looks like it's in a different language.

Because it says, be per se move. Galileo was what? Was he Spanish? I would assume that was maybe Latin? Yeah. Because it sounds moving. Like we have any idea, Eddie. We're breaking it down.

I can't believe you got to a party. I mean, I think Galileo was Italian, so maybe Italian. Possibly. Yeah. Matt, I think's coming over to the house on Sunday in our final basketball game of the year. He played college basketball. And the last time he was going to go play with us, I got sick. So it won't be pretty. Great.

But he's going to probably come over Sunday and play with us. All right, what else? So this guy proposed to a woman and she rejected him, so he threw her down a well. And she was down there for three days. Oh, she didn't die. She did not die. Of course not. I wouldn't put death in the pile.

Wow. But people heard her screaming. And luckily, they decided. to figure out where the screaming was coming from. They called the fire and rescue department, a team of police, fire, other emergency people had to show up. They had to use a crane to rescue her. She had fractured her hand during the fall,

but police say they're so lucky that she survived. And again, it's all because a man proposed to her, and she said no. What a punk? Yeah. What country is this? Indiana. Oh, not a country.

I mean, not a country. I think America. I just, that sounds like something that these countries. It says India. Oh, it's India. Okay. That's what I thought. Very far from Indiana.

I was like, that'd have been national news in Indiana. It's not as shocking because it's India. In parentheses it says in Indian. Amy's like, I think Bloomington. Bloomington, Indiana. Okay, what else you got? Okay, I saw this is something cool that funeral homes are doing. They're offering up limo rides for older voters on Election Day.

What? It's the national funeral directors and more. The Politicians Association that thought up the idea. And they anticipate giving about 300,000 people ages 55 and older a lift that day. Good for them. Yeah, cool. The vehicles will be clean between rides and masks will be required. But they'll be able to go vote and they're trying to just do their part.

You guys saw the FBI director came out night and a half ago and said, hey, Russia and Iran had hacked in and they have a bunch of voter information and they were sending threatening emails to people. Oh, boy. They were like, if you don't go vote for, that. I think in this instance it was Trump, we're going to come and hurt you. Wow. That was the irony. It's, it is nutty right now. The debate was last night.

It's just a nutty situation. Go vote. Be safe. Then you have one of those emails? Can you tell people? What do you mean? Like, did they say like, don't, don't go to the police or we'll? They signed off that they were the proud boys that kind of white supremacist group.

Oh. But it was, it wasn't. It was. Anyway, the whole voting situation, like, I'm just ready to get through this. Probably going to take a couple weeks after the election night, too, to figure it out. This is going to be not a great time. So take care of your mental health. That's what I'm going to say here.

Don't immerse yourself an extreme amount because it will not be good for you. I'm trying not to. Probably won't, but I'll pray. All right, is that it, Amy? Yeah, but maybe. That's my pile. That was Amy's pile of stories. It's time for the good news.

With Amy. Tell me something good. So a medical emergency came up and this dad in California had no one left to care for his two young children. And that's when two San Diego police officers stepped in to save the day. They actually responded to the dad's call for help when he was taken to the hospital. And then they stayed behind to babysit his two-year-old and four-year-old daughters for a couple of hours. That's extra help. I know.

That's great. That's what it's all about right there. That was Tell Me Something Good. I know, and it's crazy. I can't believe it. But I got an email reminder from our adoption agency that our 36-month review is due, and we need to start compiling our photos and drafting our report to submit to them. How important is this review? They do them every year.

I think the three-year might be the final one. They don't do it every year for the rest of their lives. But, yeah, we've done it every year since we've had them. If you bombed out, would they take the kids back? I don't know. How honest do we have to be? I hope not. Talking to me or talking to them? I'm just kidding.

No, I think it's fine. They just want an update. They look forward to it. I think it's just for their records. Make sure everybody's healthy and doing good. Three years has flown by. Floan. Remember when you came from Haiti to the airport, we were all waiting on you?

Yeah. That's wild. Stashear was only 10 years old, and now I look at her, and she's like a woman. It's crazy. And Eddie is about to, hopefully? Well, I don't know. We kind of got a little. setback. We found out a couple days ago

that they've scheduled the termination trial date. This is just the date to say that, all right, we've reviewed all documents and the parents have terminated their rights and now they can move forward with adoption. And they're not going to do that until 10 months from now. It's a bad deal, man.

We were really looking forward to doing it a lot quicker than that and it's just tough. Both foster kids? Both, yeah. That stink. I know. So that's where we're at with that. Why so late? COVID backed up a lot

But they I guess the state just wants to give Parents as much time as they can have to prove that They were able to get their kids back before it's final But that's tough for the kids man You think about the kids and what they have to go through It's that's a lot of time Because the baby you guys have has only known you guys The baby I'm sure considers us

His only parents like he's met no one else but us Since the day he was born The older one though You know, like he's still in limbo. He asks a lot, hey, what's happening with me? How much longer am I going to be here? That's a hard question to answer. Wow.

What do you say? You're going to be here as long as you need to be. Like, this is your home. That's what we keep telling him. He's like, okay, and I think that's good enough for him at the moment, but he still wonders, like, what's happening? Something's not right and what's happening. Well, that stinks. Yeah, it does.

So just, I mean, it's really. are awesome Eddie though. Thank you. To just keep loving them through this. Like, that's hard for everybody all around. It reminds me a lot of what Amy went through, you know, with just the adoption process and waiting and waiting and then like, oh, you get told this date and you get excited. And then it's like, no, they pushed it back another day. And I'm like tempted to be like Amy like, let's call governors.

Like let's call everyone we know to try to get this thing, you know, do it right. Well, I mean, sometimes that honestly might be what it takes is writing senators and congress. people and just seeing anybody that could help our listeners are amazing. They would send me different people and I would draft a letter and sent a lot of them I never heard back from and then some people I would hear back from. So you never know. Tweet Trump. It's just weird. Yeah, I know Tyler and Rob do. Yeah, it's just weird. I don't know to listen to yourself. I mean, I just, by the time something is out and then by the time it's on the radio, I've heard it so many times. Do you ever hear something new, though, when you're hearing it on the radio? Like, oh, I didn't know that was...

mix like that or definitely not no because you've listened to it so many times yeah yeah yeah definitely not uh you've added five new songs by the way luke combs is here because the deluxe album is out if you would have added all the songs that you had written during the last five or six months during the pandemic if you'd added all of them how many tracks will be on that thing probably 40 40 or 50 what do you do with these songs that you don't end up cutting uh hope that no one hears them because they're not good really if they didn't get cut i mean they're but you don't There aren't some of them where you're going, this just isn't for me right now, but maybe this artist would like it. No, there is a lot of that, but I think there's like a, there can be like a stigma in town a little bit with.

So, for example, I can only put out, you know, so many songs in however amount of time. So then if another artist were to hear this song, and they go, man, I really like that song. And then they see that my name's on it or whoever's artist's name is on it, they would go, well, then why didn't that guy cut it if it's so good? but really it's just impossible to put out as many good songs as you could write because you would never be able to you wouldn't be able to promo stuff correctly and have it be in the spotlight long enough

so I think there is a stigma to that like if you see another artist's name on it you go well if he didn't cut it then it must not be that good so even if you really like it you're kind of thinking to yourself well what's wrong with it if that guy if it was really great he would have cut it would you ever use a pseudonym

a different name if you weren't going to use it for yourself and go, you know what? I think Larry Zonka is going to. I think maybe already do that. I couldn't say. Nice. Couldn't, you know, legally couldn't say if I already do that. All I know is that he got slapped on the leg right when I ask that question. Yeah, so, no, I think that's a good idea for any writers out there.

That's a good idea to do. You should do that. You had to change wedding venues a week before your wedding. Yep. If you had to offer someone a piece of advice because Ray Mundo's wedding is tomorrow. our producer. Oh, nice. Yeah. What is your piece of advice? Just do it. Just go. It doesn't matter. I mean, as long as the two of you're there, that's really it, you know. I mean, it was nice. You know, we had a small group of our family and friends there, so that was still really great to

have them there. And it wasn't the big gigantic thing that we thought it was going to be, but it kind of ended up being even better, I think, the way that we did it. Is there a difference with you and Nicole's relationship since you've been married? Is there a different feeling about it? I think so, yeah, a little bit. Like you kind of have that. You just, I don't know, it's like a, it's like a comforting thing.

You know, I don't know. Like regardless of what happens, you're there. We're in it together, right? You know, there's that feeling, which is really nice. It's been, it's been great and it's been a blessing in disguise to have this much, you know, time away from the road and stuff to, you know, really kind of dig into that.

part of our life. So it's been, it's been awesome. I was watching your Twitter and you had posted, the name's going to slip my mind, but it was like lonely in a hotel room or... Sleepless in a hotel room. I saw you playing that. And it's not on your record. So you're releasing new songs, the head of the new songs you're releasing.

It's coming from all directions here. When you're, when you have something you're going to put out, are you like, hey, I'm just putting as much as I can, period, for my fans? Yeah, and I think, you know, I think that one, especially, I was in, LA, when I put that up, I was for the Billboard Awards. And so it was like, I was just in a hotel room kind of like, we can't go anywhere. I mean, LA's like super locked down.

And so I had written that song previously, like in maybe in January or something of this year. And then I was like, oh, yeah, I have a song about this. So I just put it, I mean, there was no ulterior motive other than. Watched you at the billboards. And, you know, now you're on these multi-format shows. Sure. And there are artists from all over the. place to do all kinds of music. Any of the artists come up to you and go, hey, man, I know I'm not

a country music fan, really, but I love your music. I mean, definitely not at that one. It was like, I don't even think I saw another artist. Oh, because of the pandemic. They kept everybody apart. Yeah, they did. I mean, it was like I literally didn't see another artist at all. I think I saw Jimmy Butler on TikTok listening to your music. Yeah, yeah, Jimmy Butler's awesome, man. He's a great dude. Yeah, I was watching him on a boat and he was singing along to your song. on like a pontoon boat. Yeah. And I was like, that's awesome.

You know Jimmy Butler? A place from Miami, by the way? I was about to ask him was Jimmy Butler. Yeah, I do. He's great. Did you root for him? Oh, of course. Yeah.

Yeah, I think I sent him a good text before the series started. I saw your TikTok where you were like where it started and where it is now and you were playing in a club. I think you were singing Hurricane and it was some old club footage and then where it is now and it was you in an arena. Does it feel like that's just, been such a runaway train or does it feel like it took forever? I think a little bit of both, you know, I think it was in a lot of ways, it was like, man, that feels like two lifetimes ago because we've done so much in that amount of time. But then, you know, I'll be talking with these guys and we'll be talking about something.

And they're like, you know, that was like two years ago. And I'm like, man, that feels like it was 10 years ago, you know? I don't know. It's just a lot has happened in such a small amount of time that it's all just really, jam-packed in there. When you were playing clubs, even before you came to Nashville full-time, what was best-case scenario that you could see for yourself? I don't know what it was going to be.

I mean, I think anything would have been fine. As long as I could have made a living doing music in some capacity, whether that was being like a full-time staff writer somewhere or I don't know. Being a demo singer would have been cool. I mean, really anything to, like, not have to, like, do the grind, like, the 40-hour-week thing, I would have been cool with, I think. Did you in any of your wildest dreams see this? No, I don't think so. I mean, I had a, you know, I always was very confident in myself, and I believed in myself.

But it was never like, I think I'm going to be doing. Setting records. Yeah, no, no chance that I think that that was going to happen. But here we are.
