Starting point is 00:02:53 This is a. Hey, welcome to Friday show. More studio. Morning. Rodney Atkins comes later. That would be fun. That guy's got a lot of hits. Make me won't take back road.
Starting point is 00:03:13 That's good. We'll have them play a little bit, too, so that's going to happen. You know, let's do a Flashback Friday to start the show. I always like doing these. And now, da-da-da-da-da-da. Flashback Friday. The year is 2004. Where were you in 2004?
Starting point is 00:03:28 I was selling Granite. It's a year before I met you. Yeah? Yeah. I was living in an apartment in Austin with two of my girlfriends. Yeah. Great at sales. What about you?
Starting point is 00:03:42 I guess I had just kind of started the morning show? Yeah. I'd been on for about a year or so. Lunchbox and I were already doing it. Yep. But we hadn't found you yet. We hadn't found her lucky treasure. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:03:54 I was listening to y'all, and y'all had Jill. She was awesome. She was my favorite. Yeah. She's still a lot of people. Oh, dang. I'm sure. I'm just kidding.
Starting point is 00:04:05 Nobody remembers. That's a long time ago. I'm just kidding. 2004 Flashback Friday. Flashback Friday. The biggest country song in 2004 was Take your record. Take your memories I don't need.
Starting point is 00:04:22 Keith are, but you'll think of me. And the cat is a cat. Take your cat and leave my sweater. Take your cat, but leave my sweater. And we debated. And then Keith hit me up on text and was like, yeah, it's cat. Because we thought it was cap. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:39 Yeah. So take you a cat. The biggest pop song was from Maroon 5 in 2004. For 15 years, these guys have been nailing it. This love for Maroon 5. And the biggest thing in pop culture, 2004, the Friends series finale, said a TV ratings record. It was revealed the finale was watched by 52 million people. I remember watching it.
Starting point is 00:05:10 They're having watch parties. And I remember the radio station at a watch party. they're like, we're going to go out to this restaurant, invite people. It was a big deal. I was like, I'm not going. I don't want to watch it with much people. I want to watch it at home. And I did.
Starting point is 00:05:20 I was kind of a bad boy back then. Rebel. And the series finale aired and it had 52 million people. So I thought the Friends Finanella was good. Did you guys like the Friends Finnelly or no? Yeah. They let the keys on the deal. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:35 I still hoping they do a reunion at some point. I don't want them to. I don't think it can be as good. I mean, just one little get-together. There's no win. It can't be as good. That's why I don't want to be an office reunion. It can't be as good as people want it to be.
Starting point is 00:05:48 Yeah, I just want to know what's going on, though. Okay, well, they should write a blog. Because at the end, what, they move out? Yeah, they all move. They're in different ways. Yeah, so, there you go. That's Flashback Friday. Here we go.
Starting point is 00:06:00 Flashback Friday. Hey, welcome to the show. We got a big one today. Here's the Bobby Bones Show podcast, highlight segment of the day. The Bobby Bones Show. Lunchbox took a hidden mic out. What did you do? I want to get my mom.
Starting point is 00:06:13 something special for Mother's Day so I went to stores and asked the salespeople to help me pick out a bra and panties for my mom. No. For your mom. No. No. No. No. All right. Yes. This would be creepy. Yeah. So I'm trying to get my mom
Starting point is 00:06:29 something for Mother's Day and I need help picking out like a bra and panties set that'll make her feel like man, man I still look good after having three kids. Your mom? Yeah, my mom. You want to buy your mom my thickly panty and bra? I don't have a son
Starting point is 00:06:44 but I would probably feel something like a way if my son got me telling them bra. I mean, what size brush are you? You know what size you'd? Like double D like She's got them bouncing. 36 D. Okay, 36 double D. Okay, 36 D. All right, I'll just go braw.
Starting point is 00:07:00 All right, thank you. Did you buy it? So that's me with the clerk, okay? And then I go to the cashier and make sure the cashier likes the bra for my mom. Oh, same store. Same store. So I'm trying to get this for my mom for Mother's Day.
Starting point is 00:07:15 I just want my mom to know she's beautiful. Yeah, it's sexy, yeah. Yeah. That's cute. Yeah. Would you get your mom something like that? Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:07:23 All right. That's all I need to hear. She's not going to like to think it's weird though, right? Not saying. All right. That's what I'm talking about. They never go wrong with a good bra. That's right.
Starting point is 00:07:33 You know what I'm saying? Never go wrong with a good bra. Thank you. That's funny. What else you got? So this next tour I go to, I go up to a lady and ask her if she can help me pick out a bra and panties for my mom. And she doesn't think it's a good idea.
Starting point is 00:07:46 Different store? Different store. Trying to buy my mom like a nice bra and panties set for Mother's Day. Pannies and bra probably wouldn't be my thing from my son. Like if your son got you that, like what's the reaction? I wouldn't want my son to buy me my panting and bra. Oh. I thought I was being creative, but that's not, that's too creative?
Starting point is 00:08:07 Most men are about a little suit or dress? or you mean roses I wouldn't say panas or lingerie anything So I should change directions
Starting point is 00:08:19 Yeah All right And one more Give me one more So this last one I went to the store And the clerk on the floor Didn't really help me
Starting point is 00:08:25 She just pointed me In the direction So I got lingerie With some lace And cherries on it And this is the cashier Cherries Oh
Starting point is 00:08:34 Lace No cherries And cherries For your mom Yeah For my mom So I got this lingerie for my mom for Mother's Day.
Starting point is 00:08:42 It's not too revealing, but it's kind of revealing, you know, to make her feel beautiful, but also say, I love you in a non-creep way. You know, got the... She's the old one. Yes, my mom. Like, with the cherries and the lace on the bottom, does that say, I love you, but
Starting point is 00:08:58 like, not a creepy way? I'll just make a sure. Like, if your son gave you that, that'd be okay? Okay, let me get a high-five on that one. Thank you. They're just trying to get you out of there. They're trying to sell that. thing.
Starting point is 00:09:11 They're just trying to get through out of there. Lacey panties were good cherries for your mom. Yeah. That's funny, though. That's a good one. So what did you do with all that stuff? Hey, where? He's not, you got it on now.
Starting point is 00:09:26 Watch this. Next week I'll have to take it back because my mom thought it was awkward that I bought her bra and painting. You will take it back. No, you should say next week when you do it, like, I had her try it on for me. It didn't fit. Starting point is 00:13:16 Our producer Raymundo from the glass room with the news. Raymundo, what you got? Uber is going public today so you can buy and trade Uber stock. The Uber market debut is said to be the biggest in five years, so that's pretty cool. You can get a share for $45. In other news at Camp Pendleton near San Diego, a Marine was killed.
Starting point is 00:13:34 Six others were injured. in an armored vehicle rollover accident, authorities are still investigating the cause. And finally, in tax refund news, there have been some delays in Missouri due to computer problems. So heads up if you're expecting money back. In a show earlier this week, Lunchmark said that when he goes to a hotel, he takes everything. He takes all the soaps, all the shampoos, he goes to the pool, takes towels. Like when he goes to a hotel, it's basically a shopping spree, right? Yeah, well, everything is free.
Starting point is 00:14:03 You pay for that when you stay there. And how do listeners react to that? Well, guys, I have to say I got a lot of negative feedback and I wanted to apologize to everybody on the show because I had numerous people tell me they were no longer going to listen to the show because of my dishonesty. One person was a part of a carpool group and they cannot subject their carpool people to that kind of behavior. Do you feel as dishonest though? No, absolutely not. They put it there. They put it in small bottles because they're saying, hey, these are travel size so you can,
Starting point is 00:14:34 put them back in your suitcase and go through the airport with them. That is what a hotel is telling you. What about the towels that you take? The towels at the pool, maybe that was probably bad. Maybe that was bad. What about the soap that you, no, no, not the soap. The toilet paper? The toilet paper that you take.
Starting point is 00:14:52 No, they throw that away when you were at a hotel and you pay for it in your fees. So that hotel, once you go into that room, that toilet paper is yours. So are you ready for a little knowledge? bomb? Yeah. You got knowledge bombs? I had a couple people reach out that run hotel chains. Okay. And what they told me was, so the toilet paper that's half used, even some that's full used, even some of the shampoo stuff that's left behind,
Starting point is 00:15:18 they donate to homeless women shelters. Oh. So they're not getting those. Well, I didn't know that. Maybe I'm not staying at those places. Because usually I just see them in the trash can of the maids cart. And I may walk by the maids cart. And I may walk by the maids cart, I always have. Can I connect you take down to the maid's cartoon? I ask her. That's not part of your fee, though. Can I get an extra shampoo? Can I get an extra body wash?
Starting point is 00:15:43 Does it affect you at all that I'm telling you that a lot of this stuff goes to homeless shelters and women shelters? That's awesome. That makes me feel good that it's not just being wasted. Because I always worried that it was just being wasted. But for you? No, it still goes to good use in my house. Like when I have guests come, I want them to be clean. Will you stop taking towels? Yeah, I'll stop taking towels. You promise? Yeah. I mean, I'm kind of grown up now. I don't need towels. I got a couple towels.
Starting point is 00:16:08 I try you can buy your own towels. I still got Marlboro towels. Excuse me? Yeah, my parents used to collect miles off the side of Marlboro boxes and you could send them in and get prizes. And we got Marlboro towels and, man, they're still together. They're intact. Yeah. It's a good little thing. We got a leather jacket one time. Got a couple chairs. I mean, I got a lot of things from those Marlboro miles.
Starting point is 00:16:28 Yeah. Yeah, it was five miles per box. just to update that listeners have stopped listening because of that segment and you've also learned that maybe you shouldn't take all that stuff. Well, no, no, no, I just learned that if it is left behind, that it doesn't all go to waste sometimes. But you're still going to take it. I'm still going to take it because I need to provide my guests at my house with shampoo and soap.
Starting point is 00:16:49 Do you have a lot of guests? No. All right. I dare you. It's a Bobby Bones show. I want to go over and talk to Terry, who is in Alabama. Alabama. Terry, good morning to you.
Starting point is 00:17:03 Good morning. How's your day going? It is going great. We are actually on our way to school. We are long-time listeners, but first time callers, the kids are in here. And I think for a while they actually wondered if Bobby Bones was a real person. You know, we had a call the other day. It thought the same thing.
Starting point is 00:17:19 Watch this. Ow. See, it hurt me when I did that. I'm as real as can be. Yeah. What would you like to say? We just wanted to tell you that Hobby Lobby Bobby was our favorite. Out of all of them, that, and when I taste Chipotle.
Starting point is 00:17:33 I think either one of them you can't go wrong with making your single, because Hobby Lobby Bobby is fantastic, but when I taste Chipotle, sort of trumps when I taste tequila. Because, I mean, now I kind of wonder if Dan and Shea sort of slip up whenever they sing it and they throw your words in there. So, you know, you kind of get advertisement both ways, and then you pass Chipotle, and so it's just, it's Bobby everywhere. How funny would that be if Dan and Cheate are on stage somewhere,
Starting point is 00:17:58 like one of these big award shows? and Shay messes up and goes, When I taste your pot, tequila, that'd be a real feather in the old cap of this radio show. Okay, so you do like our latest single, well, we're still deciding on a single
Starting point is 00:18:11 Hobby Lobby Bobby from The Raging Idiots. It is fantastic. Okay, I'm going to put... So the kids were singing with you in the back, so they were fans. Okay, I'm going to, we'll play it again coming up in a second then. Thank you very much.
Starting point is 00:18:23 All right. Hope you have a good day. Tell the kids and say hello. What's their names? Jackson and Gillian. Jackson. Hey, did you name me? him after the town? No, it's not
Starting point is 00:18:31 Jack and Jill. No. Oh, I didn't think about that Jackin. Oh, I was thinking like, they're going to Jackson. Why did you name him Jackson? He's a family name. Okay. His is a family name and hers was a random pick a J-letter name and that was falling the one we decided on. So, if you
Starting point is 00:18:48 were going to have another kid now, would you name him Archie? Like Bob or something totally different. Oh, Bob. Okay, but there you go. I know. Just, yeah. Hey, thank you. Terry. Have a wonderful day. Appreciate you calling, all right? You got the archie reference, right? Yes, I did.
Starting point is 00:19:03 A scientist said the human lifespan could be 100 years soon. Oh, wow. What do we need to do? Well, it's not even super nutty now if humans live to 100. It's like, wow, check it out. But back in the day, it used to be 30. I told you that science that our bodies aren't really meant to be over 35 years old because that's when we start to get injured all the time.
Starting point is 00:19:21 And it doesn't heal back. But science, nutrition, we've gotten better. But, yeah, one of the 100 years old, they say in the next 30 years. to 40 years could be the new average lifespan. Oh. As long as I'm healthy, I'll live until whenever. I'm selfish. Like, keep me on earth. But if I'm not feeling good, I'm kind of ready to go now.
Starting point is 00:19:39 What? Sometimes I wake up and I get like a tickle on my throat and I'm like, I'm ready to mail this this end. Take me now. Yeah, it's just like, you know, I'm good. I'm good. Yeah, I guess for me it depends on what the quality of life is at 100. Like, am I alive?
Starting point is 00:19:52 That's why I'm like, I get a tickle on. I don't want to be here now. Yeah, grandma, she wasn't much of it. She influenced my singing, but she definitely wasn't the biggest singer in the family. She kind of sounded like a hummingbird.
Starting point is 00:24:30 If you can mix a hummingbird in Aaron Neville, it's kind of like what my grandma sounds like, She used to be an usher at the church and just loved music. She was staying at the back of the church and like point her finger but not to the beat. So if you were singing, don't watch her because she'll throw you off. I'm Morgan number two. Starting point is 00:24:49 With Amy. Tell me something good. So shout out to this guy, John, in St. Petersburg, Florida. He lives there. He's about to celebrate his 26th birthday. But instead of like having a party just for himself and his friends, he's giving the entire city of St. Pete, ice cream. He's rented a truck. First birthday is coming up May 29th, and he's going to hand out to ice cream cones to as many people as he can in the city. And he's asking for
Starting point is 00:25:18 nothing in return, but if they want to make a donation for the ice cream, he is accepting donations for birthday candles for kids, which is a West Central Florida-based nonprofit that throws parties for homeless and foster kids in the area. Wow. Wow, wow, wow. I got like a chill go down my I know because it's like it's his birthday and that's so creative. Like he's like paid for the ice cream track. People can take the ice cream for free or they can be like donation and then boom, it goes towards kids' birthday parties in need. That's such a good one.
Starting point is 00:25:46 Such a good idea. That's what it's all about. And he's only 26. He's wise. I mean, that's an adult. They're like he's four. And he's two. Yes, that's good though.
Starting point is 00:25:53 Okay, okay. That was tell me something good. I'll be bonn. Yeah. Lindsay. Hello? What's happening? Hi, so I'm Lindsay from Amarillo, and I'm taking my nursing finals today, and I just wanted to call in and say that I'm so incredibly grateful for your show.
Starting point is 00:26:14 It's such a distresser for me, and we love the morning corny. I always go in and tell my classmates the morning corny, and I'm such a horrible deliver of joke, so it just makes it even more corny. So I just wanted to call in and say thank you. How are you feeling about that final today? I feel pretty good. Yeah. So hopefully I can pull it out. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:39 What I'm not saying. There you go. There she is. Thank you very much. Hey, listen, good luck. Let us know how it goes. Will you please? Oh, yes, I will.
Starting point is 00:26:47 Thank you. All right. Thank you for the call. Appreciate that. Bobby Bone Show. Bonehead. Norrie up the day. This story comes with us from Lincoln, Nebraska.
Starting point is 00:26:57 A 32-year-old man was walking with a buddy down the sidewalk. He's like, oh, you want to see my new gun? so the 32-year-old goes to pull it out of his pocket, drops it, hits the sidewalk, and boom, goes off and shoots them right in the genitals. Oh, the genitals. Oh, such a technical term. Yeah, non-life-threatening injuries, though. Oh, it's life-threatening. It may not die, but that's still, there's some life of his that's been threatened.

Starting point is 00:30:58 Dot E-D-U-S-Military. I'm going to grab this call from Shana in Florida. Shannon, welcome to the show. What would you like to say? Well, I was listening to you this morning and a couple different things that you said made me think that you might have something called Asperger,
Starting point is 00:31:22 so it's high-functioning autism. Interesting. Which is probably not something that is the best thing to talk on radio, but I just wondered if you've known much about it or if you've looked into it. Somebody read me, Eddie, read me what Asperger's is officially. It's a developmental order affecting ability to effectively socialize and communicate. You're saying a lot of the same words in the same sentence. It's a disorder, not an order.
Starting point is 00:31:45 Yeah, it's a developmental. Lunchbox, do you know what Asperger's is? Oh, my goodness. Yes. Go ahead. It means you have a very hard time interacting socialism. Okay, Amy, do you know? God.
Starting point is 00:31:55 Good job, Lexington. Hold on, we're going around the room here. Eventually, somebody's going to get this right. Amy, I'm going to come to you. Do you know what Asperger's is? Well, it's a developmental disorder characterized by difficulties with social interaction, nonverbal communication, and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests. Okay, well, I think I do fit on that spectrum a bit.
Starting point is 00:32:19 That's what I'm trying to say. I'm not sure if I actually have it. Wait, did you ever watch Parenthood? No. Oh. So I You just have to understand though My life's a bit different
Starting point is 00:32:29 Because I am on so much Radio show or TV show Or if I'm doing comedy Then when I'm out of this place I got nothing to say to anyone And maybe that comes off as Not good at socializing Oh I'm not good at socializing
Starting point is 00:32:40 Whenever it's not showtime What's another one? I'm so OCD about certain things Right repetitive patterns Just if I don't do it right Exactly right Or even numbers Like I'm probably going to have a car wreck
Starting point is 00:32:53 Like that's a, oh, whoa. You have difficulty. How do I get checked for that? I'll go get checked for Asperger's. Because I don't think that I have it, but I don't mean, I'm not, I'm not. Well, and I'll tell you, it's not a, I mean, it's not a bad thing. No, I don't think it's a bad thing. I think it, whatever I have.
Starting point is 00:33:11 Anthony Hopkins has it, there's a lot of stars. Oh, you want to get tested? I got a three-minute test right here. Three minutes. I'm not taking an internet test for Asperger. You need to get, go to your doctor, get a referral to a psychiatrist, and, you want to get a and preferably one with diagnosing autism and then take it from there. Well, Shanna, why do you think this?
Starting point is 00:33:33 What do you know about Asperger's? My son, who's 11, has it. And do you hear things in me like he does? Oh, exactly. And he listens to you two. And so he said this morning, does Bobby have Asperger's? Because you talked about giving interest when you take money from your kids. my son just told me that yesterday.
Starting point is 00:33:55 I borrowed like a dollar from him and he goes, am I getting interest on that? Well, that just sounds like a bright kid if you ask me, someone who knows. That is, Asperger's, they are very bright. Oh, well, I hope I haven't. Very smart. Very smart. Almost like so, so smart for.
Starting point is 00:34:12 Yeah, they're a little smarter than the average. That's why they have it hard time interacting with people because they're smarter than them and they get frustrated like, why do you not understand? So is that, it's like Asperger is the highest. level. Is but burgers below that? Oh, what? No, it's only one S. A-S-P. Bobby makes jokes when he's uncomfortable.
Starting point is 00:34:31 I'm not even uncomfortable. No, I know. But, well, the reason, I'm curious about your opinion on this if you ever saw since your child, you're living anyway, do you ever see parenthood? Is that an accurate depiction of Asperger's? Because the sun has it. I haven't seen it. Okay, never mind.
Starting point is 00:34:52 Shannon, I'll tell you what I'm going to do. And the next fit, almost American Idol's over. I'm going to go get checked for Asperger's. And I don't even say that jokingly. I may have it. That'd be cool if I did, then I can actually tell other people it's all right to have it. It is. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:05 Yeah. Introverted and creative. All right. All right. Thank you for the call. You're welcome. Thanks, guys. Appreciate that.
Starting point is 00:35:13 Here's Amy's Pile of Stories. Fun fact Friday. So did you know that Robert De Niro turned down the part in Big that eventually went to Tom Hanks? I did not. Yeah. I think you would have done fantastic. I think we know the roles as the actors that did the roles. But if Will Smith would have done it.
Starting point is 00:35:32 Or, well, Smith's probably too young. But it would just be their role. I think Tom Makes is wonderful. But Robert Inner was a fantastic actor. Wow. Yeah. Yes. Okay.
Starting point is 00:35:41 Queen's original title for Bohemian Rhapsody was The Cowboy Song. I didn't know that. Yeah. Wouldn't have minded that. I'd like that movie name better. And now, Remy Malik and the Cowboy song. Yeah, what else? Okay, polar bears, they don't have white hair.
Starting point is 00:35:57 It's transparent fur that reflects sunlight off the snow makes them look white. Oh, is that right? Isn't that cool? I didn't know that. I know. It's still pretty fun. Keep going. Fun fact Friday.
Starting point is 00:36:08 I'll let you know when it's not fun anymore. Walmart store managers, do you know what they make a year? A lot of people happy. $175,000. Oh, wow. Fun fact. Manager? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:21 Like, I think probably their whole store. Yeah, I think General Man. Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Not just the produce. Not pro, yeah. Okay. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:31 That's cool. That's awesome. That's awesome. That's the funest fact I've ever heard. That is so fun. I want to be alive. Wow, wow, wow, wow. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:38 And 2% of Americans say they've never eaten a taco. That's not fun. Yeah. Yeah, that's a worst fact ever. Yeah. That's the one you end on. All right, what else? Okay.
Starting point is 00:36:49 So, this is kind of cool. A college is using therapy donkeys, and I'm into it. Because, you know, how some schools have set up puppy play areas during finals or kitten cafes and whatnot. I'm totally into the donkeys, and it's going down at a university in upstate New York, and they bring them in to relax for finals. You know, if they're bringing animals in and they're treating the animals right, I'm okay with it. They're little miniature donkeys, Celeste, Jesse, and Cookie. students get to pet them, hug them, take photos. I mean, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:37:21 If you're just in charge of any of this at your school or university, like it's something to keep in mind. Like, yeah, like Bobby said, whatever the animal, as long as you're treating them good, I think it's something, it's a really stressful time for college students. And if you can, like, have an activity, like a little petting zoo. If I'm trying to get in binals and you walk in an ostrich, I'm like, what is happening here? An ostrich is not.
Starting point is 00:37:44 I know, but I don't really think that's a therapy pet. I wouldn't see that. That is relaxing. I'd be scared, sort of. Too weird. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, but like pigs or minter ones. Why do you get to pick what's therapy and what's not?
Starting point is 00:37:58 Okay, fine. Try the ostrich. See how it works. Okay, so Mother's Day is Sunday. So heads up. I saw a survey that looked at what moms want for Mother's Day. And three things made the top five in both, like, two different surveys. And that was flowers, a card, and something sentimental.
Starting point is 00:38:16 So if you can pull that off. you're in good with the moms. With your wife lunchbox? What do you have going? I got her a card. Did you write a long note? Yeah, well, I mean, a couple sentences because she can't really read my handwriting. It's pretty bad, so I just wrote a little couple sentences.
Starting point is 00:38:33 Kind of a funny card. Why you type it out? Well, you can't type it onto a card. Put in a typewriter, roll it. I guess I could type it on the computer, print it, and then blew it in. Tape it in. That would be cute. Maybe I'll go back to that.
Starting point is 00:38:47 the drawing board. What kind of note did you write? Hey, just think, thanks for the last 10 months. You've been a great mom. I hope it's been the best 10 months of your life. That's pretty good. Sweet. Yeah. Short, sweet to the point and let her know she's a mom. You should write her a poem and share it with us. You'll write her a poem. I'll write her a poem. Yeah. I'm good at poems. You are? Yeah. See, I think you should give it to her on another say and then bring it back and share it with us. Yeah, I can write it and share it to you Monday. Mm-hmm. Okay. Yeah. Home to my wife.
Starting point is 00:39:18 Oh, he's already titled it. Home to my wife. And his voice changed. All right, Amy, is that it? Well, I have one of their Mother's Day thing. Bonus, go ahead. It's kind of a bonus because I just found it to be interesting. But another survey asked people which actress should play their mother in a movie.
Starting point is 00:39:32 And the number one answer was Merrill Street. And Sally Field came in second, which is so funny because I would pick Sally Field. Like, if my mom was played a movie, I pick Sally Field. Oh, wow. I pick Kate Begantzel. Wait. Just talking to do a movie with her. I just saw her.
Starting point is 00:39:45 But it would be your mom. I don't care. She's just playing the mom. Yeah, really my mom. Okay, yeah, that's it. We're done. Starting point is 00:43:34 When you lose something, how long before you think, okay, it's gone forever? Like six months, a year? What are we talking? A week. One lady lost her wedding ring 11 years ago on the... the beach in California. Wow. She had given up.
Starting point is 00:43:49 On the beach too. Wow. It's gone. Two weeks ago. She's scrolling through the local Facebook page, the community Facebook page, and she sees a post about someone found a wedding ring on the beach. She goes, no way. She sends them a message on Facebook, describes the ring.
Starting point is 00:44:06 It's her ring. A daughter and mother walking on the beach found it. She described it perfectly. Went and met them. Ring fit right back on her finger. I love that. song, too. What?
Starting point is 00:44:18 It's her ring. Thank you. What? It does something to her. Send a shot right through her. Lensbach's the only one who got the melody of that song. You guys don't know that song? I got it.
Starting point is 00:44:30 I got it. Oh my gosh. But yeah, 11 years later, she gets her ring back. Yeah, that's cool. Amy once lost her wedding for a year. Almost. It's a couple seasons, maybe. Winterda.
Starting point is 00:44:41 It fell off her finger when she was living in North Carolina. She went to Austin. And it was in the snow. My mom and I couldn't find it, and we were on a road trip back to Austin, and we had to leave. Yeah, came back, got a metal detector, found the ring inside her house. The snow melted. It was a different season. My husband was in Afghanistan.
Starting point is 00:44:58 I never told him the whole time it was missing. Because, I mean, he doesn't need to worry about that way. That's over the scenes, you know? Busy. Yeah, yeah. Anyway, good story, lunchbox. That was tell me something good. Folks, it's your buddy and mine.
Starting point is 00:45:11 Mr. Bobby Bones. Let me know. I'm a transmitter. Over to Amy and get the Morning Corny. The Morning Corny! Did you hear about the population of Ireland? No, I did not hear about the population of Ireland. It's Dublin.
Starting point is 00:45:39 There it is. That's good. Dublin. It's Dublin. That was the Morning Corny. The Friday morning conversation with Rodney Adkins. There he is. Come on in here. Look at this guy.
Starting point is 00:45:54 You guys come on and have to see where I've on here. Rodney, sit right over here, bud. Look at this guy. Let's go out through Rodney's library. You got so many hits. You got so many hits. You got so many hits. I forgot about some of the hits, Rodney.
Starting point is 00:46:05 Bless your heart. Yeah, bless my heart. I appreciate that. How are y'all doing? Good, man. Everybody good? Good. Yeah, good.
Starting point is 00:46:11 Look at you. Rodney, how you been, bud? Great, man. Yeah? What's been happening in life? Yeah, man. Just finishing this album and taking like, what, four and a half years.
Starting point is 00:46:20 to work on. Why this album takes so long? I like to say because I refuse to settle for anything just to say I have something. I just wanted to I think you owe it to the fans
Starting point is 00:46:36 to give them something great. It takes a while to accumulate tunes that'll be around for a long time. I'm going to play some of these hits real quick. Put those headphones on right there. All right, so let's do this. He said I've been watching you. That ain't that cool. What's thinking about that?
Starting point is 00:46:56 Just the boys, man. Think about my son who is 17 now, who is, that, he's always going to be my little bear that I wrote that song about. Just never forget him. He was in pre-K, and his teacher told me he was singing if you're going through hell in the lunch line.
Starting point is 00:47:16 And that's what spurred that whole song idea. You want to play a little bit of that one? I'd like to hear some of that one. How's your morning voice? We'll see. We'll see. Ladies and gentlemen. Rodney Atkins. Yeah, just give us some of that.
Starting point is 00:47:32 Give us some of that watching you. Hey guys, so because of licensing rules, we can't play anything with music on this IheartRadio channel or podcast anymore. But you can go to Bobbybones.com to see it. We hate that we had to take it down. It wasn't our decision. But I just wanted to keep you up and we wanted to keep up as much as possible. So go to bobbybones.com to watch or hear whatever you're missing right now.
Starting point is 00:47:53 and thank you for listening to the show, and sorry about all the legal stuff. Holy kill, that's so good, man. Oh, thank you, man. By the way, the new record caught up in the country. And this song, by the way, blowing up the chart, man. Look at you. Back again. Would it expect nothing less?
Starting point is 00:48:09 It keeps hanging around out there. Hanging around. This thing's moving, man. It's fun. It's been a blast to see, you know, every show there's more and more people sing along with you. And now they can even clap and stomp where they're supposed to. The Friday morning conversation with Rodney Atkins. I have a question for you, Rodney.
Starting point is 00:48:28 There's so many guys that have almost your name. There's Rhett, Red Aiken, there's Trace Atkins, there's Rodney Ackon. There's a lot. Was that ever like a hurdle in your career that you were just getting confused all the time with these guys? Yeah. So when I was taking meetings with record labels early on, I was asked to change my name several times. And then when I met with Mike Kerb, he said, would you consider changing your name? And I said, you know what, man, I was adopted when I was a kid.
Starting point is 00:49:01 I'm lucky to have my last name. And, you know, it really kind of means something I'd rather not. And he said, well, that's the reason not to right there. And that's how you kept it. Yeah. Oh, I love that. Amy's adopted two kids. We were talking about it because you were adopted a few times, huh?
Starting point is 00:49:14 Yeah, two or three times I was adopted and returned. So what was that about? They kept their receipt. From what I understand, I was pretty sick when I was little. And I think if I was colicky, then that would be a loud, really, you know, rough-sounding baby, I think. And I don't know. I think that actually one of the couples, the reason they took me back was because they said I was too pale. And that people would know I was adopted, which now that's kind of not a thing.
Starting point is 00:49:49 thing. And I just think I was kind of hard to handle. You still feel like you're hard to handle? Absolutely. Yeah. Yeah. Let's see. Caught up in the country.
Starting point is 00:50:03 Let me run through some of these hits real quick before we play some of the new stuff here. Let's see. How about... I bet that's like a rocker, right? Absolutely. People probably love this one live. Or maybe this one?
Starting point is 00:50:18 Come on in more, shit on down, and tell me about your gun. Tell me about this one. What do you feel when you hear this one? Oh, I go right back to the first girl that I ever called on, you know, back home. And I went and I pulled in her driveway and her old man who was a Kentucky coal miner, big six-foot-four monster of a guy. He was shooting bottle cats with a 357. Oh my gosh You see the ground blow up
Starting point is 00:50:51 And He's the first guy He's actually the guy that taught me How to play guitar Rodney Atkins is here This one is the jam I still play this on our Friday morning Dance Parties
Starting point is 00:51:06 And it'll be like It'll be like Drake And then Garth And like Kendrick Lamar And then Rodney Atkins And I'll throw this one in It's just such a good Feel Good song still
Starting point is 00:51:15 That's a jam I love that song You guys will play this one? You mind playing this one? Yeah, man. That's a jam. Look at you. Let me play some of this new stuff here.
Starting point is 00:51:26 How about this is called My Life? Talking about that one. Wow, that song, so my wife rose that you know. When we met and knew we were in love and like that's the one and we were both, we were down. This is it. And we started having conversations about, well, what do you? want in a relationship. And she said, I won't want my grandparents have.
Starting point is 00:51:59 And I didn't know what that meant at the time, but found out it meant being married for 71 years and being completely unselfish, considering another person. And they just have an amazing love, man. And so her grandmother and I after we met, we related in this different way because she was an orphan also and bounced around. and we used to talk and when she passed, she couldn't speak in her final days. She could only write these little notes, and she scribbled out things like water and cold and hot. The last note she wrote, though, was to Rose's grandpa, and it said, I loved my life.
Starting point is 00:52:43 And he gave us that note. And so Rose and I got together, and I said, I think there might be a song in this. And we started to try to write the song about her life, but we kind of couldn't get anywhere. So we wrote my life, and it's pretty much my story. Wow. It's that thing about my heart because you stole it. My kiss cause you want it. My mind cause you're on it.
Starting point is 00:53:10 Every minute, life calls you in it. It's that thing about when you are adopted, even if you get incredible parents, you still struggle with with self-worth and how you see yourself, that you don't belong, that you're not worthy of good things. And sometimes it takes seeing somebody else love you in order, you just have to believe them. I have to believe that my wife is, she's right, I'm okay. And that's what that's about.
Starting point is 00:53:44 Wow. Records out today, Rodney Atkins. I'm going to tell you, man. It's been a pleasure talking to you. My pleasure, man. you came in and you were like, let me see if this morning voice worked. Let me tell you, it worked. Thanks, man. Thanks for having us, man. I think I want to end on that because you can't go. That's just the greatest story. And wow. Thanks, bro. I'm moved. All right, Rodney Atkins and we'll be back.

Starting point is 00:57:46 There's a lot of our production, and it comes in and reads the news. He's on that song, Vacation, that was a hit for about two days. Congratulations on that, by the way. Thank you. Thank you, guys. It's still a hit. But, you know, for a long time, he's been with the same girl.
Starting point is 00:58:00 You guys have been together how long? Five years now. Wow. And how old are you? I'm 33. And is she the one in your eyes? Absolutely. That's why I've been dating her for this long.
Starting point is 00:58:09 I wouldn't just be chilling with somebody for no reason whatsoever. Has she been pressuring you at all to get engaged? She really hasn't. She's been laying back. I told her just give me my. space and you know I'll make the right decision. She trusts me. Not in a mean way, but I just told her that pestering doesn't do anything to anybody. It was a little bit. And so I told her, hey, naturally this is going to happen. It's a fun. When did you tell her that though?
Starting point is 00:58:32 How long ago? Months ago. Okay, just months. Yeah. Because there's a lot of family pressure, news pressure, media, celebrities. What? Who? What celebrities? I mean, all these country stars are getting engaged, this, that, turn on Instagram. Oh, they're engaged now. Everybody's engaged. You're saying because of all the people around us, you're feeling the pressure a little more. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But you said, give my space. Not in a mean way, but just a... But in a nice way.
Starting point is 00:58:57 Give my space. Please. Higher pitch. So what's the latest on that? Well, I decided to finally start a ring fund before it was just casual. So the money would just be in my pocket or it's at my house in a drawer. And next thing you know, I go to Fort Lauderdale. I spend it.
Starting point is 00:59:13 I go to the bar, be an Eddie, you're buying $18 beers for the NFL draft. And so I thought, why don't I get with my bank and have them auto draft money for my account every paycheck? And so that's what I'm doing. Wow. So $25 every paycheck, that's $50 a month. Did you get married by the time you're 50? Well, then that's going to build for an amazing down payment. Huh.
Starting point is 00:59:36 And I thought this is going to whip me into shape. So 50 bucks a month is going. And are you going to want to buy the whole ring or just a down payment? Because if you're going to buy the whole ring, then you're going to get married. Honestly, I was hoping for some deals through the radio deal. We have ring endorsements that are going on on the show all throughout the show. So maybe I can get them down a little bit. But yeah, this is a start.
Starting point is 00:59:57 I'm not doing 100 a paycheck. And next thing you know, I'm, you know, pinching pennies to get by. How much you're looking to spend on a ring? I mean, $1,000 is an amazing amount of money. And I think that will get top of the line all diamond-encrusted. Honestine is... Diamond-incrusted. No, you're maybe getting one diamond.
Starting point is 01:00:15 It's like a whole ring encrusted in diamond. I just tried to get a ring that was in the same shelf with a ring with a diamond Wow. Okay. So you're saying you want a ring that
Starting point is 01:00:25 bumped into a ring with a diamond at one point. Yeah, it encountered a... Like it rubbed up against a diamond at some time. Like it used to have, a band that used to have a diamond on it. Maybe it was in the same case as a diamond.
Starting point is 01:00:35 Yeah. I just know how money builds. 25. Next thing you know, you've got tons in the account. The next thing you have 75. The next thing you have 100. And that's two months.
Starting point is 01:00:44 What month We are we in? We are May, May 10th. So, oh, so that's, okay. So when do you want to get engaged by? So I'd say Christmas is a pretty darn good deadline. Let's do the math on this. Okay, please, Bobby, you're good at math. 50 bucks a month is what he's at. And so we're at May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December. That's $400. Yeah. That's to get the ball rolling. Yeah, I figured, I didn't know if you got it set up in time for this next page. So I put 350 in my calculator. what I got because I said, wow, you're going to be well on your way. Hey, and then Bones maybe funds that account
Starting point is 01:01:21 just to get started, babe? Oh, good idea. Why would you want money from him for an engagement ring? I would put money in your ring account. I don't know, just to pad that thing, just to get it going. Would your girl be upset if I put money in to buy her ring? She'd think it was awesome.
Starting point is 01:01:38 Oh, then I guess we could all pitch in. Yeah. If, um, I put in for the ring. Hold on. If I put it in a ring, will you put a big Bobby Bone Show logo at your wedding? Like in the... Yeah, sponsor. Oh, I think she's going old school with this.
Starting point is 01:01:56 She's already playing the wedding in her head and it's churches and stuff like that. The logo would be tough, but I could pull it off. Bones, if he takes your money, you can decide lots of things when he proposes, how he proposes. Okay. You know what I'm saying? How much Ramundo for me to choose how you propose? Oh! Yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:13 Money tops, baby. Money talk, money, time, money to talk. And you write the lines that he has to say. Ray, go big. No, Amy, be quiet. What? No, no, don't, don't, don't, don't. It's just a location.
Starting point is 01:02:24 No, no, I tell you how to propose. Like, where to go? That's how good. How much do you need? $1,000? Yeah. If I were to put $1,000, I get to pick wherever and whenever and however. That's it.
Starting point is 01:02:40 That's it. Whenever. Yes. What in the world? Whenever. He is in control. That it's rushing. me. You want the money, right?
Starting point is 01:02:47 Do who, what, win, where? Why? I thought we were just doing maybe location and I'm not giving a thousand. Bobby? What? What about 2000? What? That was about to be so good. That was going to be awesome. If I do a thousand. Oh my gosh. Yeah. Yeah. What do you do? Bones, you gotta do the whenever.
Starting point is 01:03:05 Just, and however. I say you, I say you. And whoever. Oh, no, no, no. I got it. I got it. Bobby. Bobby, no, no. I guess I don't like this game. I'm not doing it. How about you get to officiate. the wedding. He probably wants to do that anyway. Yeah, she probably wants... I'm not going to give you any money for your ring account.
Starting point is 01:03:23 All good. It was just an idea. Totally cool with that. What I would suggest is save your money. Yeah. Which I'm doing. I would probably do maybe 50. You can do that. You do fine. Instead of 25. But are you still gambling? What's he doing 50? You say 20 for $20? He's doing $25 per paycheck.
Starting point is 01:03:39 50 a month. Okay. Do 50 a check. Okay. Get to the end of the year and put that on a down payment and go. That's a crap lot of money. That's a good advice. Thank you. Maybe I can call one of our people. Yeah!
Starting point is 01:03:51 And see what kind of deal they would give you. I did have one of our sponsors come up to me, one of our ring sponsors, and go, will you please get engaged so we can get you a ring? And I was like, I don't even have a girlfriend. What do you want for me? Trying to rush you. Yeah. They're like, we would really love for you because you talk about it.
Starting point is 01:04:06 We would love for you to have one of our rings. Oh, that's awesome. Let me see. How much you're willing to spend total? G, I could stretch to 2G. You don't want to go crazy anymore than that. But with a deal, let's be real. I mean, that's going to be cool.
Starting point is 01:04:22 What does she want? Simple. Simple. Okay. Yeah, nothing crazy. We're just talking. It's engagement, a diamond, a ring, and make it thoughtful. Have you talked to her about this? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:33 Girls like that, what do you like? Don't pressure me. It's like halo top or something like that. What? Princess cut. You're talking about like an ice cream cake. Yeah. But it's like she wants sprinkles.
Starting point is 01:04:43 No, that's a cupcake. Spriggled in diamonds. Oh, I see a Halo top engagement ring. How much? How much is that? French set halo diamond. $19,931. Well, I mean, that's good.
Starting point is 01:04:59 Do you know how many $50 do you have to take? I got you. A lot of $50. Yeah, yeah. I think you should put money back and then do a down payment on the ring. We'll do. Okay, let me make some calls
Starting point is 01:05:12 and see what I can do for you too. You also have the, when you're buying the ring, don't forget to say, is that the best price you can give me? Oh, done and done. I'll make sure it's the best price they can give them. I'll go to one of my people. Oh, yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 01:05:22 Sounds good. We'll get an update in a week or so. All right. 25 bucks. That's crazy. This guy. It's time for the good news. With Bobby.
Starting point is 01:05:34 Tell me something good. You know, those ring doorbell apps, pretty inexpensive way to, one, have a doorbell, but two, be able to see what's going on. Yeah. Like, I have one. I was watching, by the way, not to do with this story. One of those ring doorbell apps that caught an Amazon guy coming and dropping the package off.
Starting point is 01:05:52 And what they do is they take a picture of your package on the ground to show you it was delivered. And then after he took the picture, you picked the package up and stole it. Oh, my gosh. The same Amazon guy. Oh, that's so wrong. But the ring app caught him. And so I was going to read this story. A couple of New Jersey said that their doorbell system, one of those ring apps.
Starting point is 01:06:08 Because, again, you can push it as a doorbell or it's a camera. You can watch through your phone. It alerted them that something was going on outside. their house so they hit the camera and they look at it and all this is a big flame and big smoke and so because of that app they're able to get out and so their house, I mean
Starting point is 01:06:25 their house kind of fire but had they not had that little camera on their ring app they would not be able to make it out. Wow. So I saw that. They said their home had working smoke detectors but they didn't even go off until they were already outside so they had that app and that camera on their phone to think. And again, when you think cameras and homes, this is not a commercial by the way. I do
Starting point is 01:06:43 have one though. That you think Oh man, that's got to be super expensive. But the ring app's actually relative. That's from Shark Tank, huh? Shark Tank got rejected. They said, no one will ever do that. It's too expensive for a doorbell that's just dumb. And he sold it to Amazon for $1 billion.
Starting point is 01:07:00 And he was the first person ever to go back on the show as a shark. So someone that was rejected to go back in the shark? Yeah, he went and sat in one of the chairs and we got to be investor in other businesses. That's cool. Because it's not just a doorbell. It's also a security. It's pretty awesome. Yeah, well, I thought that story was good, and them using that to actually save their lives.
Starting point is 01:07:19 That was Tell Me Something Good. Mother's Day Sunday, if you're just now hearing about it, ooh. Yeah. Yeah, bad news. You still have time, but... And by the way, your second year of celebrating Mother's Day. Yeah, this will be Mother's Day number two for me. Yep.

Starting point is 01:11:28 There we go. And more difficult. I know the way Glenn Miller played. Songs that never hit parade. I don't know what this is. It's Archie. Bunkers of the day. Any guess?

Starting point is 01:12:43 Not my sister. Why is that? I don't know. It's like a tie. You know and do that with her? Yeah, I guess we just haven't done that yet. We're not to that level yet. Well, congratulations to both of you.
