Starting point is 00:02:06 Hey, oh, welcome. Hope you had a great weekend. Morning studio. Morning. Hey, coming in the next 10 minutes, Dirk's Bentley and El King will perform, which, by the way, you may remember different for girls from these two. And then obviously, Elle had,
Starting point is 00:02:24 I'm drunk and I don't want to go home. So they have a new duet. They're going to perform in here in the next 10 to 15 minutes. So since they're playing early, let's go over and open up the mailbag. You send an email and we read it on the air. It's something we call Bobby's Mailbag. Yeah. Hello, Bobby Bones. I'm 25 of I'm recently engaged. What was once a celebration has turned
Starting point is 00:02:53 into a debate over who should pay for the wedding. I understand that it's traditional for the bride's parents to pay, but my parents help pay for both of my college degrees. They haven't volunteered to cover the cost of my wedding. I don't see a problem with this, but my fiance is upset. They haven't volunteered to pay for the whole event. Thoughts, suggestions, sincerely stuck between a rock and a hard place. The idea that her parents should always have to pay the end unequivocally, that's the only answer.
Starting point is 00:03:23 That's wrong. Now, if you are someone who wants to go by tradition and it's comfortable, great. I don't hate you for it. But just because you have ovaries doesn't mean you're, Pops has got to pay for the wedding. It doesn't. Maybe broke. Maybe a lot of factors. He may be rich. Maybe easier on them to come together and do it. There's just not, this is 2022 at this point. If you want to have tradition for tradition's sake, good for you, but it's not a sticker.
Starting point is 00:03:58 You just don't, oh, right, here we go wedding. Boom. She pays, especially when there are real life humans and a lot of factors into this. So I would say that great, it's traditional, but you don't. want to go by tradition, it ain't a tradition for you. You need to have that talk with him. Hey, I don't think this is fair. And here's why it's not fair. That's it. Yeah, and if he's not able to see that, then I don't know.
Starting point is 00:04:19 Break up! I rethink this engagement. Break up! So that's how I feel. I don't ever hate anybody for going, you know what? This is how it's supposed to be. So it's how it is. Great.
Starting point is 00:04:31 If you can do that, you can pull it off. Great. Money, though, is just not universal. Everybody didn't have it. everybody didn't have it the same. It's a lot harder for some people to get it again. And if that affects this, then don't let it. Now, I know lunchbox, you're going to weigh in and probably be on his side, but I'm willing to take that.
Starting point is 00:04:54 So your thoughts? It's easy. It said it in the email. The parents paid for both her college educations, her degree, so they have the money. So you need to take them out to dinner and say, hey, look, we got engaged and now we need to know where to send the bill. for this wedding because you guys are responsible for your daughter. You paid for her college education. You raised her. You knew that this day was coming when we started dating. Hopefully you started saving and now we are here to collect. I guess we just interpret things differently.
Starting point is 00:05:22 When I say, by my parents helped me pay for both my college degrees, I just feel like they're broke now. You feel like they did it because they're rich. I feel like they're probably squeezed out of money. They got no money left. That's not my problem. They knew from the moment she was born, when she got married, they were going to have to pay for that wedding, so they should start a little wedding fun. Unless they don't think that the tradition is on them. Maybe that's not how it worked for them. And they're like, okay, yeah, this isn't how we do things.
Starting point is 00:05:46 I don't know. My point is... The father of the bride should pay for the wedding. That's it. What if the bride doesn't have a father? Then the mother. My wife's dad didn't pay for the wedding. Which is crazy.
Starting point is 00:05:57 But he would have. Yes, he would have. But you stepped in. You stepped in. Tried to be the hero. I don't know what. I don't want to ask anybody for money. Never.
Starting point is 00:06:06 I guess what? Never. My father-in-law paid for everything. Every single thing. You squeeze them out of them too? Oh, man, let me tell you. Oh, is that costing extra 20 bucks? Who cares?
Starting point is 00:06:16 My father-in-law is paying for it. I don't see one bill. Not a single bill. I don't know how much a single thing cost. And lunchbox has had a nice wedding. I'm not going to lie. No idea. Okay, but who paid for the honeymoon lunchbox?
Starting point is 00:06:29 My parents. Okay. That's right. If you're going by tradition, that's what it is. Yep. But the honeymoon doesn't cost nearly much as a wedding. Exactly. So let's, okay, here's my answer.
Starting point is 00:06:38 Rock and a hard place. You need to have this talk and say, hey, this isn't a tradition of my family. And money gone, bye. No, no, no. Sorry. What about taking the parents out to dinner and saying, hey, we'll pay for this dinner. You're going to want them to pay according to your rules. Take the parents out for dinner.
Starting point is 00:06:53 Make them pay and then say, hey, keep it coming. You got a wedding to pay for it. That's right. Now, listen, if you don't want to have a tradition, you don't have to have a tradition, generally. Just generally traditions, they only last if you want them to last. Or they're forced upon you. And you don't have to be forced to win this one. But yeah, but also for the guy or whoever proposed, he's kind of like, oh, man, he probably thought his whole life.
Starting point is 00:07:11 I'm not going to have to worry about it. Whoever I proposed to the family pays for the wedding. I don't think about that. No, we didn't think about that. Never once until it's time to pay and we're like, oh, I'm happy. No, never. All right, thank you. That's the mailback.
Starting point is 00:07:22 Close it up. We've got your email and we read it on the air. Now it's time to close Bobby's Mailback. Yeah. They're getting set up in here now, but it's L. King and Dirk's Bentley. Let's play a few things. You'll know Elle from, Drunk and I don't want to go home.
Starting point is 00:07:41 You'll know Elle and Dirk's from their last song together, which is different for girls. You may know L from this song, X's and O's from 2015, or America's Sweetheart from 2016. So she's awesome. They're here now, and we are ready. Let's go.
Starting point is 00:08:10 On the Bobby Bone Show now. El King and Dirk Spentley. Elle, it is really good to see you again. Nice to see you too. Good. And we come on it. Apparently, Dirk's has a residency here on the show. He's here every week. So for different reasons. Did you know he just comes in randomly? No. Sometimes they come in and don't even sing. I just hang out. You know? Kind of judge the show a little bit, see how it's going and want to keep listening or not. He's like the voice. But for this show, he comes on and it tells us that the show's good. Oh, smart. Yes, yes, yes.
Starting point is 00:08:36 Ella, you are here. We just spent some time together in my house. We were doing a Bobbycast. And Mike, who produces that, told me that, that I went hard on her? Did you think I went hard on you? I would rather someone be honest and real with me. I would rather take something, you know, genuine than fake, I guess. And I wasn't meaning it in any way that I had a whole different. I was wrong about my perception of all. I thought she was fancy Hollywood, girl. And I said that, I said, my perception was totally wrong on you. And I admitted that.
Starting point is 00:09:07 I said, I thought you were from Los Angeles. And, you know, you came to, and I said, I was completely 100% wrong. And from, you know, growing up in Southern Ohio to living on a farm now. And I was like, I apologize. And I'm really sorry that I felt the wrong way about you. I think, too, you're so talented. I think that can be intimidating at times, too. To someone like, well, I'll say it.
Starting point is 00:09:28 Charlie Warshum. No, me. I'm just kidding. My first time being in the studio with Bobby, and you made me sing the YMCA theme song. How to go? Terrible. Yeah, it's the whole thing.
Starting point is 00:09:39 We're just now getting over that point, our friendship at this point at this point. It's a thing. So Elle King is here. And, hey, Dirk's, I'd ask Elle. I said, hey, since you had asked her to do different for girls, right? And she did it. Did she have a coupon at any time she could have cashed in on you?
Starting point is 00:09:54 Like at any time, regardless of how good, amazing, a polka song, it didn't matter. If she said, I'd like to do this song with me, you have to do it. Oh, man. Would you have said yes? I would say yes to anything she asked me to do because I love Elle to death. But I feel honored to be on the songs. It's a big old smash hit song that I love now that I get a chance to be on with you. It's just, I feel like Elle's got so much good things happening for right now.
Starting point is 00:10:16 I'm kind of like, yeah, let me be part of anything you have happening right now because you're hot. What was it about her initially that drew you to her? Yeah, see, now, but you all are just talking about that conversation. I only knew Elle since I met her. I knew the X's and O's in that song, and I had that song different for girls. The Shane McNeillie song that I loved, and I was trying to find someone that could sing that song. It's kind of a weird song, you know, different for girls. It's talking about, I mean, the reality of things of life is, a lot of things are different for girls, but not for Elle.
Starting point is 00:10:42 It was kind of weird for her to sing on it because she's like, you know, rolls her sleeves up and fights her way into the room and not girly girl at all, but she has enough confidence, as you were talking about earlier, to build a take on that role. She's the only one I really could see singing that song and playing it off and not, you know, it's just such a juxtap position for you in a cool way. It was because everything we were singing about, like, I do.
Starting point is 00:11:02 Yeah, like she's the one drinking Monster Energy Coffee drink this morning, and I'm drinking a decaf coffee. It's like, our roles are totally actually reversed. But I just, I've only known her as like playing the banjo. You know, she to me is, as all. always been like a country kind of singer or girl and that's we know each other now for about five years I don't age me come I can't remember but um I would have sung anything she asked me to do I'm thankful she asked me to sing on a big hit um but uh yeah I'm a huge fan did you know she started
Starting point is 00:11:29 she saw a guy in a park in Philadelphia just randomly playing it then out started yeah I saw him and I was like anything you can do I could do maybe okay and I was like let me play it and you like let me borrow that banjo for like I need listen to bobby cast oh it's it's really good yeah it's really good because especially after this little thing I need to go back and check it out I didn't know there was a thing I was just like hey did you feel like and then Mike was like yeah you just kind of but also the air was out of my house and I think I was a little crabby yeah he was warm I was fine well I try no stop you stop we don't need that she can't I was like I'm so I'm so embarrassed that the air is out of my house it's 80 degrees and she's like I don't care let's let's go and I'm you know me I'm Beyonce I don't know the temperature's not exactly right with my water and so but she rocked it and it was awesome and I hope you guys check it it out. We talk a lot about this song too, which is what we're going to play here. And so worth a shot, it's Elle King with Dirk Spentley. So Elle, what drew you to this song? You heard it and thought, I love it. Why? Well, I mean, it's very, very catchy. And it was, it happened really, really quickly. We had done like five, six songs all just slammed into one day. And we were
Starting point is 00:12:41 kind of scrambling, just trying to find songs. And Ross was like, hey, I've got to this one and Dirk's was going to cut it and and I don't know why it didn't make the record probably because you were waiting for me. I knew it found the right home. He was just like waiting to deliver it on a platter. But Ross played it for me and I was like, dying, that's catchy. Yeah. It's just like, hey, Dirk's like, will you?
Starting point is 00:13:03 And then I sent the text that we talked about like, hey man, you don't have to say yes, but like, if you really wanted to, like, I can't put it on a country record and like, not have you sing on mine. and it's not like he doesn't like owe me anything this is all like forever indebted to him and also saying like you brought me here
Starting point is 00:13:24 will you still be a part of what you like led me to yeah well thank you and the story of the song is interesting for everyone out there listening because it's cool to see how songs find their home you know it's like Shane McAnnelly and Ross he's a great songwriters but they probably only get like three or four great songs a year and I feel a huge
Starting point is 00:13:42 responsibility and I'm writing my own record and then someone pitches me a song and I hear it it's a big hit but I kind of want to put this one out that row because I'm really attached to it but I don't want to like jeopardize these guys one baby of a song it's such a good song so I was kind of sitting on it and then I heard they like loved it and I'm like yes give it to Elle she'll make it a hit and I just I care about those guys my friends are songwriters and you care about them you don't hold their song up you know you get this song you just sit on now I'll think about that let me come back in a year and then the song's lost its moment it doesn't have any heat left and you just like destroyed somebody's chance to have like a hit song so
Starting point is 00:14:12 So I was super happy this song found the right home. And then kind of karma, I think, it came back to me with a chance to be part of it. I still get it be on the song, but it's your song. Finally, finally. Too deep. Gone too far. This is Elking with Dirk Spentley and the band doing Worth a Shot. Superficial conversation because I got is always up.
Starting point is 00:14:56 I'm not ready to give up on us. Yeah Last try It might just do from the past Don't know Whiskey Can fix it or Baby is worth a shot
Starting point is 00:15:31 One shot from the top Of the shell Maybe two What the hell Because we've been on the ride Just one shot Maybe all that we got I don't know about you
Starting point is 00:15:42 But I think it's worth a shot I think it's worth a shot I think it's worth a shot That's awesome guys El King and Dirk Spentley On the Bobby Bones show now El King and Dirk Spentley Elle how's your ankle?
Starting point is 00:16:09 Like broken or something? I don't know I got healed boots on, it's all right She says she's always hurt We were talking, she said I'm always hurt And she has a sprained ankle right now Yeah, we were doing the video shoot for the song She was hobbling around pretty good
Starting point is 00:16:21 Yeah, I re-spranged it that day Black and blue was pretty nasty Yeah, it still is Yeah And so you just strapped up a boot And said let's go Yeah I got a thing on it like a brace
Starting point is 00:16:31 yeah you two are hosting uh cMA fest together yeah that's pretty cool yeah yeah so how what's that situation how'd that how that get come to you you know i've seen people do it in the past
Starting point is 00:16:42 and it looks like a lot of work so i was like ewf i don't want to do that but uh you gotta be her all week but then i heard you know there's an opportunity for us to do together and I was like of course i'm gonna do with that because it's just fun you know i have to leave for a day to go to a bluegrass festival right where which one i can't do you know you have to work
Starting point is 00:16:56 you have to pick up my duties yeah because that is her and I were talking about it. Yeah, it's a lot. You guys, it's a lot of work. Yeah, she was like, what is? I was like, you're there all there. I know. Four days. But you guys are bigger stars, though. With me, I think they just kept me around. Oh, come on. Like to fix walkie-talkies and the whole thing. Somebody's got to do all the stuff. Yes.
Starting point is 00:17:16 No. She's so fun to be, you know, she's so fun to be around. It just makes, you know, we're back there rehearsing the song, you know, having fun. And she walks the room, just like, the sun comes in with her. So it's just fun to be around her. That makes, at this point in my career, it's just like, I just want to do things that are fun. And that's kind of like the main, like that's how you sell it. Is it going to be a good time or not?
Starting point is 00:17:33 Oh, it'll be, L King. Okay, it'll be fun. Are you guys playing the fest as well together? I'm assuming you have two songs at this point. One, number one hit at one that's about to be massive. So I'm assuming you'll play them. I think we'll do this, right? I would assume.
Starting point is 00:17:45 I don't know if it's, I mean, I would hope so. Yeah. Yeah. It's going to be a fun show. They've done it a little different this year. It's like, we get a 45-minute set. Usually it's like, you know, two or three songs and you're, this is like, we have a longer set. So we'll just come out.
Starting point is 00:17:57 I get two songs. You get my guys. Maybe it's me, but we're bringing you out. And we're bringing us another guest out that I know the hot country nights are going to be excited about. I was talking to Elle and she said that drunk and I don't want to go home. So good. Had actually written years prior. Did you know this?
Starting point is 00:18:12 I didn't know this. That song is so good. The song is so good. The vocals are so good. It's a killer song. The more I hear it, the more. I mean, I always have loved it. Every time it comes on the radio now, I'm just like, I just dig into something else that I love about that song.
Starting point is 00:18:24 But yeah, I didn't know you written it a long time ago. Is that on the Bobbycast? it is but but the interesting thing was and I want to ask you the same question Dirk's but oh you wrote that how many years ago? I was about 24 so eight years ago so if you write that eight years ago and she sat on it but she had the she that she rewrote it right with I hated I hated the verses yeah the verses were crap did you ever do that Dirk we have a song no okay okay all right no usually the song is written and then it's just like oh such a great song and then time goes
Starting point is 00:18:52 on I've just trying to think about I don't even know where my catalog I want to go back and I mean I've written a lot of songs a lot of people people that just for some reason the song just doesn't make it to the the album which is crazy because it's just kind of like almost a timing thing you write a you know this record i'm working right now i'm my third version of it so there's a lot of songs that just didn't make it for some reason to the next phase and they're just great songs and you know they just kind of disappear did you have a song dirks that lasted a long time and made it and you're like i can't believe the thing lasted that long and then was a big hit like years and years because again
Starting point is 00:19:21 written a long time ago yeah sure because that's her situation with drunk and i don't want to go home and she wrote it but you knew right, L, that the hook was so strong that eventually it would be something for somebody, right? Oh, hell yeah. And so you even tried to, you thought about selling the song to like a DJ. Yeah, I mean, my manager right there, I've been, we've been messaging for like a year before that. Like, we have to give us to a DJ or somebody. I can't, I can't just let this chorus, like, die. And so it was like, let's just rewrite it. But it taught me a lot because now we have other songs and now you can really kind of shift and open your mind about
Starting point is 00:19:58 songwriting process and like I love this one thing about this song but this is where it doesn't hit so it's okay to you know throw the baby out and kind of restart it yeah you could always fall back on what was there it's hard though man it's hard to I mean you guys Charlie about this too
Starting point is 00:20:13 it's hard to take a song that's like ah I don't like it I'm gonna go back and read purpose the song I think once it's written it's kind of like for me it seems like it's locked in it's just kind of like on to the next one damn it but did you have a song that lasted the test of time, meaning it sat around, maybe you forgot about it for a long time, and then it came back. You're like, oh, man, that was a good song. Let's record it, and then it was a hit.
Starting point is 00:20:33 No. Okay. All right, cool. But I've had songs. I've had songs of albums. I've had songs that I wish had been singles, and I've tried to, like, put them back on a, you know, because it's a great song, it's a great song, I can't believe it was a single. Let's recut it and put it out on this next record. And it just feels like there's some, just the, everyone's just kind of like, eh, no, this song had its moment and just write something new. I don't know. It's hard to do that. Well, not for L and myself.
Starting point is 00:20:56 That's why we're supporting her. That's why we're on the wings and she's in the center. El King is here. She's got a brand new song. You're all over. I mean, are you playing more Stapleton shows too? I was looking at you. I mean, you're on the road a lot.
Starting point is 00:21:08 Yeah. Do you feel like you're living on the road? Yeah. Is it more like a rock tour since you're on the road so much than a typical country tour where you're out for Thursday, Friday, Saturday? Well, I mean, now that festival season is going to be coming up, the days will get filled. but I mean, I'm here in Nashville Hustland and I never really get days off.
Starting point is 00:21:30 I like country tours. When it's slower, I like to have a couple days off. I had Sunday and Monday off and that was real nice. It was in a pool. But like I just, I like to work. You know, what is it? Idle hands are the devil's playground.
Starting point is 00:21:42 I don't do well with too much time off. So it does feel like a rock thing, I guess. I don't know. El King, listen to this. The first female artist in history to have scored four radio number one singles on different formats. for country, for alternative, adult, alternative, and adult pop songs.
Starting point is 00:21:59 So that's awesome. It just shows how versatile your message is, more than any certain instrument or sound. Yeah. Yeah. But like it shows how versatile the message is and that all people, regardless of what, yeah, I'm not a big genre guy myself, but it just shows that you're connected in a lot of ways. That's really cool.
Starting point is 00:22:16 Yeah. Thanks. So I think that's it. Dirk's L. Charlie, the band. Great job. As always. I feel like in different forms.
Starting point is 00:22:23 I see everybody here about, I don't know, twice a week. Somebody from some this group's coming in in some way. It was a killer band. You guys are sending it great today. All right, go look for Elle on the road. Also, Dirk Spentley. He'll be in next week with who you think he'll come in. Well, who's supporting Charlie next week?
Starting point is 00:22:39 Yeah, yeah. Maybe we should T.J's, yeah. Yeah, or did John. Yeah, yeah, both the brothers a chance. I'll end with this because something Elle and I were talking about was asking people to do uh, collabs or like to feature on a song. and, you know, we had opened for Garth Brooks, and we did this song called Opening Act,
Starting point is 00:22:58 and so I had to reach out to people and be like, hey, we're looking for somebody to hop on this verse, and it's a very awkward thing for me, and I do comedy music? And I was like, I'm always like, hey, do you want to get on this song? If you don't want to, you don't have to, I know it's stupid.
Starting point is 00:23:09 Who wants to do? When you reach out to somebody, Dirk's, are you always like, hey, man, this is a great song, you should be on it. No. Or are you all the same way. I'm like, man, because it's a big responsibility, it's a big obligation.
Starting point is 00:23:19 You're asking somebody to kind of, you know, be in with you for the next year. If you're as far as like, you know, if you can make it to an award show or make the video shoot or you're going to go, there's a lot of responsibilities to come with being on a song. It's not you just go in there cut it. Like, all right, see you. It's like, hey, I'm going to need you next month these days. It's going to need you with the video shoot and all this stuff.
Starting point is 00:23:36 So it's kind of, you're kind of, I think it's a favor to be, even it's a big hit song, you're kind of saying, hey, you know, would you be, I really appreciate if you take a look at being on this. So I come to the other angle, you know. But is it, then do you get nervous? Has anyone ever said no to you? Yeah. And I've said no to other people too, you know.
Starting point is 00:23:52 I've had some people pitch you songs. I'm like, I don't know. Friends, good friends. Yeah, be like, I don't even know if this is a good song for your career. I mean, I'm just as an outside of, you know, as a friend of yours and outside looker, I'm like, I don't know if you should be putting this song out. Oh, so you just tell them you don't want to do it and they shouldn't do it. I like, he goes to. And I just don't know this.
Starting point is 00:24:10 The song has been good for your career. He's like, I don't even know if you be a singer. I'll be honest with him, regardless of the song. But, yeah, I've had to go both ways for sure. Well, Bobby, wasn't it? Breeland on the Bobbycast that said when Dirks reached out to him about beers on me, like you texted him
Starting point is 00:24:26 and you said, hey, this is Dirk's Bentley you know, the country artist, or the country singer, and like you were defining who you were and Breeland said that he was like, dude, you don't have to explain who you are. Even like, I remember Taylor Swift, I've known her song with her on stage and done some stuff with her. Every time I see her, I'm just like,
Starting point is 00:24:42 hey, Taylor, Dirk's Bentley and I know who you are. Well, I'm just making sure, you know, I don't know. But yeah, I've had, I've been I've cut a song with someone before and had to call Mary Hillier and be like, you've got to get me out of this song. So you've cut it. That's not a good song.
Starting point is 00:24:57 You got to help me. That's dicey. That's a dicey situation. We've got a couple people that were going to be in this little song. And one of them was like, yeah, immediately. The other one I sent a message to, and I still haven't heard back. It's been like a day and a half.
Starting point is 00:25:10 That's because you send voice notes. But what do you mean? It's because of that. Well, you've got to type it out. No, I don't want them to keep it, though. They can keep it. Keep it. No, but they don't. I told Elle. People remember that usually after. Do you think at one point
Starting point is 00:25:23 all our text messages are going to be totally public? I do. I think one point you'd be like, how much Crap is Bobby Bones talked about me and they're like everything you've ever said about You just search it? Boom, yes, yeah. I search. Bob Bones, my name. Oh my God, Dirk's. He's mouth breathing into the microphone. He's got to be a lot. Okay, listen.
Starting point is 00:25:39 Great job. Dirk's sound wonderful. Great new song. You guys, appreciate you. And we will see you if not on TV sooner than that. Okay, guys. Dirk's and L. Thank you. This music really fits the country music landscape currently, so I feel like it's going to be, It's something that we feel passionate about, but that's something that our fans who've been with us since the beginning can really enjoy and latch on to. The people that are listening to new country artists can listen to it. Be like, yes, this is right in that lane. Kane Brown talked about writing his latest single, Like I Love Country Music. We had two different songs going, one in the back of the bus and one in the front of the bus. And I was in the back, and as I came up front, the writers had this great idea, and they already had some of the first verse.
Starting point is 00:29:11 And I just remember thinking this could be a smash. I'm Morgan. That's your skinny. It's time for the good news. With Bobby. Tell me something good. So this kid Brody transferred to a different school in Colorado because he was getting bullied at his old school. He's a very shy sixth grader. He says the situation at his new school isn't much better.
Starting point is 00:29:33 When Brody got his yearbook at the end of the year, he went around asking for his classmates to sign it. And a lot of them said no. Three classmates who did it only signed their names. wrote nothing else. So Brody wrote a message to himself. The message was, Hope you make some more friends. Oof, that's sad.
Starting point is 00:29:48 When his mom saw the note, she went to social media and was like, hey, this is going on. So when fellow academy student, where he's at, Logan South's parents, saw this, they said, hey, let me talk to our son. So they get him in,
Starting point is 00:29:59 they say, hey, these kids going through this. You know, we don't want other kids to suffer like this. So the other kid went in, got his yearbook, signed a long message to him, and then went to his friend,
Starting point is 00:30:10 I was like, hey, you guys might hop in here? And so at the end of the day, his yearbook was completely full of paragraphs of kind messages, words of encouragement, and people just hanging out with them all day. And hopefully that would kind of be the springboard and more friendships for this kid. Yeah, that's awesome. Good for Logan South and Logan South's parents, too, because I know that as someone who's going to go in and be like, hey, I'm going to help you out. It's not always the cool thing to do to go in and be friends with somebody who's getting picked on.
Starting point is 00:30:36 I know I got to crap beat out of me, and I was always very appreciative when somebody, they didn't have to be cool. they could be anybody was like hey man hang out with me hang out with us that wasn't easy for them because then they got made fun of they're like oh you're hanging out with bobby oh loser you know so that I like that I like Logan South if you listen to this that's awesome your parents are awesome and hang in there Brody it definitely gets a lot better you're probably shy and super smart and all those idiots be working for you soon enough yeah no offense to you guys yeah no offense to you guys
Starting point is 00:31:05 at any way whatsoever all right that's what it's all about good. We're going to play two truths and a lie. Ailey is on in Utah. Ailey, how are you? Great. How are you? Doing pretty good.
Starting point is 00:31:18 So we're going to give you a prize if you can win. I'm going to give you three statements about my life. Can you find the one that's a lie? Okay, ready? Yes, ready. Statement number one, I once rode in an elevator with Prince, the artist. Do you have Prince is? Yes.
Starting point is 00:31:38 Statement two. I was once pulled on stage at a concert to sing with Alan Jackson when I was 10 years old. Statement three. Elton John once kissed me on the lips. Okay. So we got three superstars here, musical superstars. Mm-hmm. I definitely know the Prince one is true.
Starting point is 00:31:59 So you think I rode in an elevator with Prince? Yes. Okay. So then which one is not true in your mind, is it? I was once pulled on stage at a concert to sing with Alan Jackson. or Elton John once kiss me on the lips. I would have to go to that Elton John kissed you on the lips. So you think that one is the lie?
Starting point is 00:32:23 Yes. Okay, she's going. Lock her in, Ray. She's going, Elton John, kiss me on the lips. That's a lie, she says. All right? She is locked in. Ray didn't hit any sound.
Starting point is 00:32:32 But I don't know. There is a sound. I just yelled that at him. I don't know. Okay, so I once rode an elevator with Prince. That is true. It was an accident. I was in Austin.
Starting point is 00:32:40 It was like a bar club. He was a secret show I got on. huge guys and one little guy and I was like what did I get myself into that's cool that's a weird one that's a weird one uh the Alan Jackson one I was once pulled on stage at a concert to sing with Alan Jackson when I was 10 that is not true I have never as a kid I didn't really go to concerts I mean my first show ever was Diamond Rio I think I was 12 or 13 with church at magic spring's theme park and so that did not happen it is true Elton John once kissed me on the lips it or not. I was at a charity event and I sat beside him all night and he showed me pictures
Starting point is 00:33:18 of his new baby and he went up and he played the set and he came off and he was shaking people's hands and at the end he grabbed my head and kissed me around on the mouth and he keeps walking. And I was like, woo! That's crazy. It's crazy. Yeah. It's crazy. So you, okay, you didn't get that one, so you got to get the next two right. But the lie was the Alan Jackson one. Okay, next up, I'll give you three statements. Remember one of these is a lie. Statement one. I've had dinner. with Orlando Bloom. Statement two.
Starting point is 00:33:48 I'm in a group chat with Keith Urban, Dirk's Bentley, and Luke Bryan, where we share industry secrets and make fun of other artists. Statement three. I've played ping pong with the lead singer of Creed. With arms wide open.
Starting point is 00:34:06 A little texture there. I've had dinner with Orlando Bloom. I'm going to group chat with Urban Dirk's and Luke Brian. And I've played ping pong with the lead singer. of creed. Which one of those you think is the lie?
Starting point is 00:34:18 Okay, well, I know the Orlando Bloom one isn't because American Idol with Katie Perry. Probably the group chat with Keith Urban, Luke Bryan, and that's whoever else he said. You think that's the true one?
Starting point is 00:34:38 No, I think that one's a lot. You think that's the lie, got it. Okay, so she is locking in as the lie that I'm in a group chat with Keith Urban, Darks Bentley, Luke Bryan where we share industry secrets and make fun of other artists. All right, Ray, lock her in. I hung up the phone.
Starting point is 00:34:51 Was that her? That's the sound effect you play with. Okay. All right, all right. Interesting. Well, it is true I've had dinner with Orlando Bloom because at the end of American Idol, we all went to dinner, Katie Perry, Orlando Bloom. Really didn't fit in, but I went and I had some good food for free.
Starting point is 00:35:09 And it is true that I've played ping pong with the lead singer of Creed backstage way back in the day. And he beat me like 22 to nothing. I was like, get this guy out of here. and you are right I am not in a group chat with those three nor do we talk bad about other people
Starting point is 00:35:21 because they wouldn't but they wouldn't so that is correct good job all right one more to go and by the way if somebody
Starting point is 00:35:29 could tell me what price she's going to win that'd be pretty awesome oh $100 gift card since you're a Sonic guy a $100
Starting point is 00:35:35 do you have a Sonic near you Ailey I do yeah $100 at Sonic you're gonna OD unslushy you know
Starting point is 00:35:43 all right here we yeah last one Yeah. Last one. All right, which one's a lie? I turned down Justin Bieber for an interview before he was famous. I was once catfish by a man posing as a model online.
Starting point is 00:35:59 I've trademarked the saying 69. Nice. Which one's a lie? I turned down Justin Bieber. I used catfish by a man posing as a model or I trademarked the saying 69. Nice. The lie is that you trademarked the line 69. Why are you so sure about that one? Because I'm a long time listener.
Starting point is 00:36:22 I know you turned down all of this. Yeah. Yeah, Justin Bieber. Hey, right, lock her in on 69 Nice. That was at least not me thinking she hung up. Was that breaking news? Yeah. Yeah, she's right.
Starting point is 00:36:38 It's that. I'd never trademark 69 Nice. I did turn out, Justin Bieber. It was a YouTube kid. They're like, hey, YouTube kids up here. You want to interview him? No. Dang.
Starting point is 00:36:47 I know. I was an idiot. Yeah. another one oh funny I've thought about this in years they said hey there's some girl this performing do you want to interview her she has a song about kissing under the girl and I was like no it's Katie Perry I kissed a girl and I liked it and then I did once get catfish by a man posing as a model online but we'll not go
Starting point is 00:37:05 into that any further right now you are the winner Ailey nice job thank you we're gonna hey well you lock her in as a winner Ray there you go we're locking her in as a winner oh boo okay hey Ailey we're going to to send you this $100 Sonic gift card. I love Sonic. You love Sonic. So go have a Sonic day. Okay? Awesome. Thank you. All right. Thank you for listening.
Starting point is 00:37:27 We'll put you on hold. We'll be back in a second. So Morgan was telling me about taking an Uber. She hit her app. Car came picked her up. And so what the Uber driver say to you, Morgan? So when I got in the car and I had gotten in the back seat like I always do, he was like, oh, you can just get in the front seat. That's weird. So weird. In no way. I'm like, and I can also just get a new Uber, Creepo.
Starting point is 00:37:49 Yeah. So did you get in the back seat all the way before he said that? Yeah, like I was sitting in there. I was about to put my seatbelt on and he was just like, no, you should come to the front seat. And I was like, no, like, I'm more comfortable back here. And he was like, no, you should come to the front seat. That sounds like, no, he can't. He's like, no, this is a candy.
Starting point is 00:38:07 Oh, my God. Get in the van. You'll like it. Oh, no, your parents said you should get in. That's what that almost sounds like. So do you feel like he was hitting on you or was his backseat just like ripped up or something? Like it wasn't functional. No, like the car was clean, totally fine.
Starting point is 00:38:23 I didn't suspect anything was weird. But I don't know if he just wanted the company in the front seat or it made him feel like more of a taxi situation. But I like more of a friend. Like less of a taxi maybe. We find out every car asked Morgan is sitting in the front. Okay. So here's the thing. Have you guys heard this story yet?
Starting point is 00:38:41 No. No. What do you think she did? Do you think she, A, got in the front seat and road. B said no. I'm a chill in the backseat here. See, you can go on. I'm not taking this Uber.
Starting point is 00:38:56 So you've got three choices. Morgan is, if I could describe Morgan. She's, I'm going to just, five foot two, blonde, very athletic. Just, I mean, she's short. I don't know. Who's always smiling? What celebrity does she look like? What we've talked about before?
Starting point is 00:39:14 What celebrity do you look like? You've said Bree Larson and Kristen Bell. Think of that. Think if we smash those two together. I don't think of the blood that would happen if you literally did. But if somehow... I was trying to think... Yeah. So, that's Morgan for you.
Starting point is 00:39:28 She's like, all right, ready to take an Uber ride. What do you think happen, Amy? Well, I mean, Morgan's super nice, and maybe she doesn't want to make it awkward. Because I have had someone asked me to sit in the front before, and I just did. What's wrong with that? Because I just didn't. I was like, well, okay, I guess. And it ended up being fine.
Starting point is 00:39:43 But I feel like Morgan just said, oh, it's okay. I'm comfortable in the back. And sat in rows. Yes. Lunchbox? Oh, listen, she just sat in the back seat. It would be too awkward to say I'm getting out of the Uber and leave them drive away because they know where she lives
Starting point is 00:39:59 so she doesn't want it to be awkward. Wait, wasn't it at your house, Morgan? Yes. But you think if an Uber driver goes, hey, is in front of either can I kill you? They're going to go A to Z like that, possible. I mean, good thinking, lunchbox. It could happen.
Starting point is 00:40:13 It happens. I mean, things like this happens. You watch Dateline? And so, yes, she stayed in the car because she didn't want to make it too awkward and for that person to come back mad at her house but she sat in the back seat. Eddie?
Starting point is 00:40:24 Yeah, that's a big difference. The fact that he went all the way to her house to pick her up, she didn't want to wait for another one, so she just said, no thanks, I'll stay in the back seat. So, okay, three of those. Yeah. Morgan, you have three votes, stay in the back seat. Was that what you did?
Starting point is 00:40:36 Did you stay in the back seat and ride to your destination? Yes or no? I did not. Okay, so she either sent the car away or she got in the front seat. Okay. Let's re-vote. Okay, Amy.
Starting point is 00:40:49 Front seat, she got in front seat. Amy's clapping like she has somebody that's doing it with her. Yeah. Eddie. She asked for a new Uber. Lunchbox? It's front seat because I get in the front seat every time anyway and when I'm by myself, so why wouldn't she get in the front seat? Nobody wants to make out with you.
Starting point is 00:41:03 Correct. Okay, so you had two front seats and one, you sent the car on the way. Morgan, what did you do? Well, because it's so hard to get Uber's at my house, I reluctantly got out of the car and got into the front seat. No! No, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible thing. Terrible, terrible things. Hey, I understand.
Starting point is 00:41:20 No. Morgan, why would you do that? And what happened while you're riding? Well, so I, it's so hard to get Ubers to my place and, like, not expensive Ubers too. So I was like, I'm not going to go through all of this again. I'll just get in the front seat. And then I didn't talk to him. I stayed on my phone the entire time.
Starting point is 00:41:37 I was like, I need to get out of this car as fast as I can. And I just ignored him. He kind of talked a little bit, and I'd be like, mm-hmm, mm-hmm, yeah. And then I just like went back to my phone and really tried to show lack of interest. Did you feel like he was wanting you in the front seat so he could flirt with you and hit on you? No, I got more dad vibes from him.
Starting point is 00:41:56 Like, I don't know if he was just trying to like, you know, have a connection. They're a creepy dad. I don't know if I like that. The dad vibe you got was not. Hey, guys, what if, like, his ex-wife lived in that neighborhood and he's like, oh, maybe she'll see me driving with his hot blonde. No, we're doing a lot of this time. The only thing I know is this isn't safe and we shouldn't be doing it.
Starting point is 00:42:12 Yeah, I agree. But still, it happens. The only because it happened, do you made a bad decision. So now you're trying to justify more. Morgan, let's not Listen, let's not do that I would prefer you not do that You're your own adult
Starting point is 00:42:24 But that is not safe I know I just felt so uncomfortable I didn't really know what else to do And be like, okay leave I'm gonna get a new Uber I just I didn't I'm not good in uncomfortable situation So that's why I reluctantly
Starting point is 00:42:37 Like just got in the front seat And just kind of kept to myself As much as possible Here is your ticket to get out Of any situation like that Okay? All you have to do is go Oh no
Starting point is 00:42:47 I got a poop and run off. What? Because he'll be like, wait, what? And then he'll be like, oh, thank God. All of it. He's shocked by it. He didn't want you in there anyway if you got. You do that?
Starting point is 00:42:58 He can't be offended. Yeah, he won't come murder you because you know your bathroom's going to stink, you know? That's genius. That's it. It hits every part of your like, ooh, and oh, okay. And, oh, I feel sorry. I've been there. That's it.
Starting point is 00:43:08 Yo, oh, my goodness. I'm so sorry. I got a poop and then run off and that's it. Thank you. You're welcome. Thank you and you're welcome. That's more uncomfortable to say. You'll never see him again.
Starting point is 00:43:17 So smart, though. But you're not going to get murdered. Okay, okay, okay. And now a voicemail from Cassandra in Santa Cruz, California. This question is for Morgan number two. My girlfriend is having a bachelorette, and she's having a Shania Twain outfit-inspired party, one of the nights. And I know you're a huge fan of Shania Twain, and so am I. But I have a feeling you know her better than I do.
Starting point is 00:43:42 So I was wondering what I should wear for the Shania-Twain outfit-inspired night. I would love any advice that you have so I could start shopping for it and plan my outfit. Love the show. Love you all. Thank you so much. Morgan, what you got for? Well, definitely leopard. I mean, anytime I wear anything leopard, people are like, that's Shania. But if you don't want to do leopard because the bride may be doing that, then go like bright red leather, like a crop top and some tight pants.
Starting point is 00:44:09 Those are both like iconic Shania. Okay. How well does Morgan know Shania? This caller made it seem like Morgan really knew of Shania. She's her favorite. Remember she wanted to go on that show, Shania Twain's Superstalker, whatever it was. What was it called? Superfan.
Starting point is 00:44:24 All right, thank you, Cassandra, for the call. Thanks, Morgan. Here is Mel from North Carolina. Morning Studio. So, Bobby, I think I've got your ghost dog situation figured out. You've recently been talking about having foxes in your yard. I'm pretty sure you're just seeing a gray fox or a white fox. My grandfather claimed to see a gray fox running around his yard.
Starting point is 00:44:45 And we thought he was crazy until we moved into his house and we also saw it. Okay, bye. Thank you for that. Thanks for thinking about me. It's too big for a fox. We have foxes all in our yard. They're small. This dog is three times the size of a fox.
Starting point is 00:44:59 This dog will be outside the window. And then I'm like, okay, let me walk over to the door. And by the time I walk to the door, 2.1 seconds, it's gone. And I don't even see where it's gone, where it's gone. You would think you would see like its tail running off. If it ain't a ghost dog, my name ain't Bobby Bones. Well, that's tricky because my real name is Bobby, but it's not bones. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:20 All right, here he is finally. Kaylee from Kansas. I was listening to the segment about Lunchbox being embarrassed by his wife having the grass sale. And I was like, why doesn't Lunchbox elevate his celebrity status and sell headshots or set up some sort of mystery booth where people pay $20 to, like, see the celebrity and meet the celebrity? Just the thought I thought lunchbox would want to make more money. money by the huge listener of the show. Shout out to Hannah Katrina and my mom. Love the show. Thoughts, lunchbox? Well, I like that idea, but the problem is you want to be incognito.
Starting point is 00:45:55 You don't want everybody to know where you live because then the tour buses are going to come by your house and they're going to put them on the route. Like, oh, this is where lunchbox lives. And you don't want that. So yes, I'd like to sell headshots, but then guess what? When there's not a garage sale, people are going to be going, knock, knock, knock, hey, lunchbox, I know you live here. I came to your garage sale. And I don't want to. But aren't you worried about people knowing you live there anyway because you're having the garage. That's the whole point of this. You don't want your wife to have a garage sale because people are going to know it's your house. Oh, man. Then maybe I'll set up an autograph table.
Starting point is 00:46:23 He turns like that. Wow, that was easy. I thank you guys for the voicemails. Hit us up. 877-Bobby. If you don't get through on the show, hopefully you get through the voicemail line. It's the same number. Starting point is 00:49:28 your family with the help of American Military University. That's AMU. APUS.edu slash military. Here's Amy's Pile of Stories. There's a hacker group that is forcing victims to do charitable deeds and then they'll get their data back. It's like the Robin Hood of hackers. It's called Goodwill.
Starting point is 00:49:52 And it has been identified by cybersecurity analysts. and there's a list of charitable tasks that you have to complete, maybe even take a selfie to show that you did it, and then, voila, you get your stuff back. It's funny. It's not funny. It's not. It's wrong. And here's why I say Robin Hood, because Robin Hood, for some reason, is a hero. But he stole.
Starting point is 00:50:12 And yes, he stole from the rich to give to the poor. I understand that, but he still stole. Right. That wouldn't really fly. But I think because I grew up so poor, I was like, that's my guy! He's got to come and take care of me! But you can't steal. Right.
Starting point is 00:50:23 It's like these guys, we laugh. We're like, ha, ha, they're making people do nice. You can't. But hopefully they're only doing this ransomware to really rich people. But even then, that's not right. It's not. It's not right. It isn't.
Starting point is 00:50:33 I know. It isn't. Because what if somebody worked really hard to be rich? They shouldn't be penalized for that. And they probably do a lot of giving themselves. They shouldn't be forced to get. I mean, I like it. I'm not going to lie to you.
Starting point is 00:50:43 I like it. It's tough. I'm on the fence here. So we should move on before I go back to liking it more. Okay. Well, I have a list of gifts that you should never give to someone. Okay. All right.
Starting point is 00:50:55 Pets. you mean okay these aren't dirty gifts got it oh yeah no not dirty like I think of a lot of gifts you shouldn't give someone okay pets because they have to take care of it they may not know what's coming then the pet may not probably get good treatment right it's a major responsibility like even if you're thinking like oh I want to get my my child one or something make sure they're ready for it or a boyfriend or girlfriend yeah I would think more like a Valentine's Day or birthday a kid you know you're probably going to do it anyway yeah yeah what else well it's interesting you
Starting point is 00:51:24 mentioned dirty I something on the list is anything sexy unless it's your spouse. You know, you guys feel free to get me anything sexy. I'll open that up. Come on. All right. Yeah, anything you see. Do get me something sexy.
Starting point is 00:51:34 I have nothing. All right, go ahead. Clothing, when you don't know the person's exact size, because if you buy too small, it's awkward, and if you buy the opposite way, it could be insulting. Well, yes, for the most part. They do make oversized clothing now purposeful. So you can always go one size bigger and it's oversized and be like, hey, it's oversized.
Starting point is 00:51:53 It's going to be too big for you. That's in style. Yeah. And if it's like a team they like, I think that's okay. But yes, you don't want to go buying jeans for somebody. Unless they're sexy and you guys give me that size 32. 31. Okay, 31.
Starting point is 00:52:06 I like to still wear a 32. But, Kate, I was like, you know you're a 31. Stop wearing 32's. So everything's growing on me except my waist. All right, what else? Anything that deals with losing weight or working out. Okay. Just only give fitness gifts to like legit fitness fanatics or maybe if it's their job.
Starting point is 00:52:21 Okay. And then a re-gifted gift card. It doesn't say gift card. a bad thing to give. I don't even think re-gift it's bad. If it's not your close, close, re-gifted a gift card's fine.
Starting point is 00:52:31 It's still a gift card. It's still getting the gifts. Like, if you're someone, like, for example, and you're getting me a birthday gift. Is it a random example? Yeah, just something out of the blue. Let me pull something out of the sky.
Starting point is 00:52:38 You probably don't want to get them a gift card because that's your best bud. You probably want to get something with your heartfelt. But other than that, all good. I think the funier part about Eddie's gift card. It's not like you got you got you a gift card to like your favorite golf store
Starting point is 00:52:50 so you could go pick out like a new club or some balls or whatever. Gift card to that. Okay, a store you might like. But he got you a gift card to Uber Eats. That way, he eats every day. It means food. We're trying to do less of that. It was just funny.
Starting point is 00:53:06 Okay, so it is wedding season. So a recent survey was done to find the most popular recent country songs used at weddings. Oh, recent. Because I was going to go like Lone Star, amazed. Okay, recent. I don't know how recent you're talking about, but Dan and Shay have just generally the best catalog for wonderful wedding. songs. But when you go recent, are they on the top list there? I will say Dan and Shay are at number
Starting point is 00:53:29 one. They are. Yeah. Okay, well, let's get to what that is in a second. What's it number three? Lee Bryce, I don't dance. So it's not super recent. It's like last 10 years. Yeah, it's not like you were saying lone star mates. Yeah, but it's not also the last year. Yeah. Okay. Since we've been in Nashville. Got it. All right. Number two. Thomas Rett, die a happy man. It's good. I like the Lee Bryce one better than the TR one here because this one has been done so much. It's almost cliche. So Libra is pretty good. And then Dan and Shea, which one would it be?
Starting point is 00:54:06 It would be probably, uh, let's you, me. Hey, can you turn that song down? It's hard to get a song to my head with a song that's playing in my mind. So it's probably like, I want to marry you and I ain't even met you yet. That's not a real song, but it should be.
Starting point is 00:54:20 Dan and Shay, you can have that. It's like, well, I've never heard that one. Speechless. Okay. My song could probably go stalker real quick, though, because it's like, I won't marry you. I never even met you yet.
Starting point is 00:54:38 I'm on your Instagram and I'm going to send you this. It's not a threat. It's just a love, love, love. You know, I could go. I just get off the dome. That's what happens there. It gets creepy real.
Starting point is 00:54:50 Yeah, it's not a threat. But I want to sniff your hair because it's beautiful. Yeah, there you go. Take that, Dan, and Shay. Put that in the little thing you do. All right. I'm Amy.
Starting point is 00:55:00 That's my pile. That was Amy's pile of stories. It's time for the good news. With Amy. Tell me something good. There's a dog and a pig and their best friends and their names, Timone and Bumba. Oh, like Lion King.
Starting point is 00:55:18 Yeah, and get this, they're not going to have worries for the rest of their days. Okay, Kuna Matata. Because an Arizona animal shelter made sure that they were placed in a home together forever. Did they name them after they were already friends? I think once they got to the shelter, they formed a friendship. They realized, oh, wow, this dog and this pig, they're really getting along. They named them. And then when it came time for an adoption, they made sure that it went to a home that would take both of them.
Starting point is 00:55:46 So that way they weren't separated. I'd take both of them. If I was going looking for a single dog and it's like, I can't take more than one dog, I'd still take the pig. Because that would be awesome. Yes. Yes. So shout out to Mone and Pumba. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:58 And then shout out to Better Piggy's rescue. because that's who decided to adopt the pig and they were like, okay, yeah, we'll take the dog. Oh, they did the opposite. Yeah. That I would have done. So in the real Timoan and Pumba, one is a wart hog.
Starting point is 00:56:12 Yeah, that's Pumba. And then what's Timoan in real life? He's a, I believe, a Mere Cat. A Mere Cat. Yeah. Oh, okay. They're awesome. I've never seen Lion King.
Starting point is 00:56:21 What? Oh, it's so good. Okay. I believe you. Yeah. All right, that's what it's all about. That was tell me something good. Over to Amy.
Starting point is 00:56:30 Now with the Morning Corny. Morning Corny. Will glass coffins be a success? I don't know. Will glass coffins be a success? No, no, no. Remains to be seen. Remains to be seen. That was the Morning Corny. What's happening? Time now for your big stories.
Starting point is 00:56:58 Bobby's Big. Stories. Check, check cheese. drawer, that's a lot. Check your cheese drawer because a lot of cheese are being recalled because of listeria. Cheese is delivered in nine states are recalled because of potential listeria, which will make you very, very sick.
Starting point is 00:57:14 Paris Brothers in Kansas City, Missouri is recalling a few cheese products because, again, it contains this, the voluntary recall of all these cheeses. It doesn't say what cheese is, but it does give you states. Ready? Okay, yes. Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas,
Starting point is 00:57:30 Iowa. Oklahoma, Nebraska, South Dakota, Mississippi and Florida. Check your cheese. NPR has that story. I would also think if you're anywhere near those states. Just check your cheese. Just check your cheese. Because
Starting point is 00:57:46 we've had cereal get recalled. Yeah, Lucky Charms. Because we're getting sick. Lucky Charms! You can't even buy Lucky Charms in peace anymore. To save his dogs, an Australian man took down a kangaroo. I felt that. I could beat up a kangaroo. There is no. doubt. I watched Ray's Instagram story with some kangaroos at the zoo this weekend, and I was like,
Starting point is 00:58:07 I could take that thing. I'm just smarter than it. In person, they're very impressive looking, and I finally got the kangaro's perspective, and they look pretty mean, they're going to take you. Okay, so let's say we did an event. I was fighting a kangaroo, and you got to bet on it. I gave you $100. You can bet on either one. Me or the average kangaroo, right? Kangaroo. Okay. In person, they're kind of terrifying. To save his dogs, an Australian man, fought a kangaroo for six minutes. Wow. Six minutes. No problem.
Starting point is 00:58:35 Cliff Dez was at his home when a, quote, six-foot buckaroo in a bad mood attempted to grab his dogs. He tried to frighten the animal away. No luck, so it went out. Slapped it. Oh, in the face. Then it slapped him back. Oh, see, they're smart. And then he tackled it.
Starting point is 00:58:54 The fight left him with a few cuts and bites. But if this, I mean, they're going at it under this tree. I just know I could beat it up. This guy's kind of a putt anyway. Really? Yeah, I ain't nothing compared to this. But man, this kangaroo is like in for business. It's like the UFC when they finally go at each other at the end of a fight.
Starting point is 00:59:13 When you're like, finally they're actually standing up fighting each other. The kangaroo goes right for it. And then he holds it down. And then he wins. Easy as pie. Okay. I have some game tape here on how to beat the next kangaroo a fight. Top Gun crushed again at the weekend.
Starting point is 00:59:27 Eddie saw it. Awesome. Dude, awesome. I mean, really, really good. I didn't really go in with a lot of expectations because Top Gun is just cheesy. Like, it's a cheesy movie, but man, I loved it. Was this one cheesy? It was still cheesy because it's got the cheesy elements because it's Top Gun.
Starting point is 00:59:41 It almost keeps kind of the 80s vibe at the very beginning. So it's really cool that it has that. But man, the storyline's really good. And at the end, I'm just like, wow, this was really, really good. And that action, dude, it's amazing. Was it so cheesy, though? You're like, oh, come on. Some parts.
Starting point is 00:59:56 Some parts are like, oh, my gosh. But then you roll your eyes. You're like, well, you know what? It's Tom Cruise. It's supposed to be cheesy. in 10 days, Top Gun Maverick is Tom Cruise's highest grossing movie ever, which is crazy. Dude, and he looks like he's 45 years old. I don't know how they did that.
Starting point is 01:00:10 You know he invested in some sort of filter technology. He's got that coconut filter. Yeah, he's like, hey, can we get this Instagram filter on the movie camera? You know that happened. Joe Don Rooney from Rascal Flats will spend two days in jail because of last year's DUI. He has pleaded guilty to last year's DUI arrest. He'll spend 48 hours in jail starting this Wednesday. He'll also be required to complete DUI training and will lose his driver.
Starting point is 01:00:30 license. When you spend two days in jail, that's not the pen. That's like... City jail? I feel like that's downtown. Yeah, that's like you go hang out. Okay. Right? Yeah, and it'll be a couple hours because he'll get good behavior and he'll be out. So when he'll be two days? I don't think so. Hopefully, he does...
Starting point is 01:00:46 What if he goes in with bad behavior then? He goes in... He talks back to everyone. He's like, I with me, Barry. Joe Don, stop singing. I will not. I will you. I will sing you all the hits. Joe Don, you're not the lead singer. You're the guitar player. I know. Well, we hope Joe Don.
Starting point is 01:01:04 I know Joe Don. I like Joe Don. I hope he gets back on track, gets the help he needs. A game-worned Kobe Bryant jersey auctions for $2.73 million. A game-worn jersey worn by the late Kobe Bryant, almost $3 million through SCP auctions. The jersey was worn by Bryant at least five times, including two home games during the 96-97 NBA playoffs. What I'm saying is this wasn't even like a finals or an MVP. This is just a random game worn in Jersey. $2.73 million.
Starting point is 01:01:35 Wow. That is from TMZ. If you're over 5'9, you're at higher risk for more than 100 health conditions. I guess our headline is, Ray, you're going to be healthy forever, buddy. Five, six never felt so good, did it? I told you guys. My dad, I mean, he's already got back, leg, a lot of issues
Starting point is 01:01:53 just because there's so much weight on your feet, and it's a very tall structure. All his bones are longer and stuff like that. How tall is your dad? Six, six. Oh, he's big. Oh, that's a big one. Yeah, he's a big boy anyway, right?
Starting point is 01:02:04 Yeah. And he's also working at the, is he working at a mill? No, he retired. He did. But I'm saying he did, right? He did. Well, he was in the office, though. Ray keeps talking about it.
Starting point is 01:02:14 He didn't do much. I mean. A 12-year-old boy robs a Michigan gas station. Oh, my God. A 12-year-old boy was caught on surveillance holding up a Michigan gas station with a 9-millimeter pistol. The boy waits his turn in line and then pulls the pistol and says, hey, put the money in the bag. And the cashier because the kid's 12 was like, are you serious?
Starting point is 01:02:32 He was and he fired around to the ceiling to prove it. The cashier gave him the money bag and said, hey, get out. The kid was picked up by police just a few minutes later. He was charged with all the things as far as armed robbery, assault, the dangerous weapon, discharge of a firearm. He got the gun from his grandfather's locked gun safe and told police he didn't do it for the money. He said he would have thrown the money into the sewer,
Starting point is 01:02:52 but they have no explanation as to why he robbed the store. But if you're 12 in doing that, you just hope at some point he has some good influences coming to his life. And they're still able to hop in and do some of that shit. shaping at this point. That's from the Daily Mail. Finally, a woman spends $5,000 to stuff her cat after it's killed by a car. 5,000 bucks.
Starting point is 01:03:13 Man, I knew a few taxes. Ermus growing up. It didn't cause that for any animal that Arkansas Keith killed. And much bigger than a cat. Much bigger. I mean, I've seen like 14 point bucks. Big old bucks. Maybe because it's what they're not used to.
Starting point is 01:03:26 It's like, hey, I guess. I mean, that's like 800 bucks for like a big one. In September of 2021, Harry, a Pieces Cat Tangle. was hit by a car and died as a result, but the 28-year-old nursing assistant decided she wanted to spend $5,000 to have her late feline friends stuffed instead.
Starting point is 01:03:44 The grieving owner asked for the cat to be put in a position that made him look like he was asleep. Really? I mean, I don't know. I mean, she's just that she's that, I mean, but this is part of her grieving process, so, you know, no judgment, but that's just... I mean, a little judgment.
Starting point is 01:04:01 That's a lot of money. I mean, you could have went to a taxidermist right outside of Jessville, Arkansas. and got that done for much cheaper. Yeah, well, that's what I mean. Did someone swindle her in a time of grief? Probably big city folks. Oh, okay. L.A.D. Bible has that story, and that's what's up.
Starting point is 01:04:16 That's your news. Thank you. Those were Bobby's Big. Stories. They did this poll with thousands of people in America only, and they said, hey, what's the thing you'd change about your spouse? What's the one thing you would change? What do you think?
Starting point is 01:04:31 That's dangerous. What do you think their answer was? like normal like the generic answer like what would most people in America change about their spouse you had to guess right now somebody give me one guess be more on time
Starting point is 01:04:44 be more on time okay that's what I know mine would change about me I like that maybe their bad attitude okay I feel like you're all now projecting what was on you what they would say blanket statement I'll tell you what it was in a second and then I may we'll see I may wait into that water a little bit
Starting point is 01:05:01 yeah yeah all right back in a second So they did this in America only, thousands of people, and they found the thing they want their spouses to do differently. What they would change the most about them is... Being on time. You said? Yeah, like change your bad attitude. You? Cooking skills.
Starting point is 01:05:19 None of those, it was just to communicate better. That's one. That's what we... Okay. What? It's just like you get advice from everybody all the time about how important communication is, and yet we still can't. It is generic. Let me give you some advice.
Starting point is 01:05:31 All right. I mean, I've been married quite a year. Sit down, little Bobby. Let me give you some advice here. I know you've been married quite a year yet, and I'm married a long time. I tell you the number one thing you can do. And I sit up taller. I'm like, oh, I'm about to get my pen, my notepad out.
Starting point is 01:05:43 I'm going to give you this advice here. It's going to take you all the way to 20 years, 50 years in. I'm ready. Communicate. What? Just talk. You know, and just communicate so much. You can't say anything else.
Starting point is 01:05:56 No. I'm not going to talk myself out. And then two, I don't know what that means. I feel like I communicate pretty well. Kayla may disagree with that But I need specific advice when it comes to Like, just know, Bobby When you get married, your showers can have 97 bottles
Starting point is 01:06:12 Of different conditioners and creams and shampoos That you can't tell the difference between That's true But there will be a difference Somehow So the answer is Number two, help out more, number three, not boss them around Oh, like nagging
Starting point is 01:06:26 It just has not boss them around Yeah Change something about your partner, go No, no, no, no, no I'm out. Okay. Close the drawers. The drawers.
Starting point is 01:06:35 Yeah. That never closes them? No. It's like he's rebelling against all his years in the Air Force or something and going to the Air Force Academy. It's like when he got out, he's like, yeah, you're not going to tell me to close a drawer or make a bed. You're not. Dang it. Mine would be don't have such a good memory.
Starting point is 01:06:51 Oh, that's a good twist. Oh, that's, you gave a compliment. No, no. She, first of all, she knows every lyric to every song and she remembers every dumb thing I do. She'll quote me. She'll reference me. Oh, yeah. Remember this?
Starting point is 01:07:00 August 13th. 2020. You said, I will make you macaroni and cheese. You haven't. Where is it? Everything. She knows every lyric from every song. She can spell words backwards, but she also remembers every dumb thing I say. And I never knew, I'm telling you, I never knew this. I never knew that I said so many dumb things, period. Just in general. She's got them all. She remembers. Yeah, and she's right. It's probably didn't even give me half of them that I really say. Eddie? Ah, man, you know, I have to think really hard about it, but I got one. Oh, gosh.
Starting point is 01:07:31 Just finish what you start. What she likes to do, she's like, oh, I'm going to start cleaning out the garage. And then she, like, goes about a fourth of it and then quits and does something else. The next thing you know, the garage is messy. And I'm like, hey, just finish what you start. I don't care what you do. If you start it, finish it before you move on in the next. That's it.
Starting point is 01:07:47 Interesting. I think I would also change. She's too pretty. Okay. What? You want your wife to stop being so pretty? You know, I just wish I make me jealous. You don't, though.
Starting point is 01:07:56 I wish, it just makes me jealous. I just want to be pretty, too. Lunchbox, what you got? I mean, anything? he's right. Finish what you started. My wife has had these lantern sitting on the front porch. She's going to paint. They've been sitting there for seven months and she hadn't painted them. She's going to plant, you know,
Starting point is 01:08:08 a garden in the backyard. She bought all the seeds, you know, hasn't planted anything. And also, maybe go get your hearing checked because I have to say things. Five times. You said one thing, right, Bones? One thing? Five times. And she's like, what? And I'm like, never mind. And she goes, no, no, no, I really want to hear it. No, you don't really want to hear it because
Starting point is 01:08:26 you can't hear me and I don't understand how. Okay, since you have a couple. I'll do another one. Like, just chill out on being so funny all the time. Okay. All right. You know? And maybe start dinner earlier. Oh, I'm going to cook dinner. And then it's like, oh, it's like, oh, it's like six of us. Oh, it's maybe too late. Maybe we should just or something. I'm like, well, you've had all day to cook. Where? Can you fit in here and help with the lanterns or plant some seeds? I didn't say I was going to plant seeds. I didn't say I was going to paint any lanterns. It's true. I didn't say I was going to do any of that. Y'all don't want to jump in and help your wives or things. I said I was going to mow the yard. Guess what? I mowed the yard. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 01:09:03 Guess what? He's fired up. Eddie, do you always finish every project you start? I try to. Dang right. Keyword try. Yeah, I do. So you're admitting you don't.
Starting point is 01:09:12 Like, if I start the dishes, I don't stop halfway. I finish them until I'm done. Who stops halfway? Well, who does? She does sometimes. Oh, my gosh. You guys don't know real problems like I have. Yeah, well, what's another one of yours?
Starting point is 01:09:23 Oh, man. She's just way too athletic. We played horse yesterday? Oh, God. She beat me H-O-R. I had horse all the way through and she had H. She may have just had H. That's how annoying it is.
Starting point is 01:09:35 What else? I mean, she sounds pretty perfect. I can go on all day. A lot of things. A lot of things. Starting point is 01:13:24 Oh. You can't unsee it. But what kind of snake? I don't know. They're good snakes. They're probably good snakes. You probably need that snake. It went straight over to my neighbor's house.
Starting point is 01:13:33 I gave her a heads up. She goes, oh, that old thing, it's been there for years. I'm like, what? You know it? I'm like, it's around a lot. So now I just, I can't even go just sit in my backyard. It ain't going to bother you. I saw the fox this morning in our yard.
Starting point is 01:13:48 When I was leaving, I actually got Eller barking at it. And I got a video of the fox. Oh. And it was five feet away looking right at my dog. It wasn't moving. Because there's a gate in between them. And that fox knows the backyard so well, it was like, what are you going to do, dog? Come on, what are you going to do? So anyway, this is the video of the dog. And this fox? That's Eller, just going crazy. The fox's like this. What are you going to do? Do something? You got a gate between us. Just looking at it. So I got a video so they don't think I'm crazy in my yard now.
Starting point is 01:14:18 I texted my dentist a picture of my tooth yesterday just kind of out of nowhere. I got some of my top gum. It feels like a tooth's trying to rip out of the top of my gum. I don't know if I'm a wisdom teeth out or not. You don't know? You would know. I don't know that I know.
Starting point is 01:14:33 I had so much dental problems because I never went to the dentist until my 20s. So they were just pulling teeth every day. It was all the time. So I don't know because I've had seven teeth pulled. Oh, wow. All these are all fake up front. Okay, well maybe you don't...
Starting point is 01:14:52 Yeah, the highlight of my career has been able to buy teeth that actually are not in terrible shape. Yeah, I just feel like, well, maybe I know my wisdom teeth experience so well because I did one of those studies where they pay you. Did they... So, I'm going to ask you your dental advice here. Can a tooth, wisdom tooth go under another tooth? I don't know. I feel like it could go, yeah, up and in. That's why they're so...
Starting point is 01:15:15 They need to remove them because it ends up too crowded. Well, I text them a picture of it. unsolicited. I was like, hey, hope your weekend's good. What is this? And then I thought, was that over the line? What do you think? On a Sunday? Mm-hmm. I did say, hope you're having a good weekend. I let out with that. Does that helps. If it's a dental emergency, but if you're just curious and it could wait until Monday, you probably should have sent it today. But I mean, let me read you my text. Okay. As long as you said happy weekend.
Starting point is 01:15:40 Well, that's my point. Yeah. And he's been on the show before, Dr. Trembly. All right, here we go. I said, and I was kind of funny about it too. I said, hey, hope you're having a good weekend. I'm going to hit up your office tomorrow. I don't know if it's wisdom teeth or not. Or even if I've had mine removed, but I got something in my upper back gum that's starting to force its way out. Feels like a tooth fighting to break out of the gums.
Starting point is 01:15:59 There's an alien in there, some bones or teeth are running scared. And then I sent him this picture. Is that too close? And I circled it. That's good. I did a little editing on the picture. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 01:16:09 I mean, you did say I'll reach out to your office tomorrow. So it kind of gives him an out like if he, it's not like you have to reply right now. Like butt doctors? They get somebody just going, hey, check this out, Doc. bent over. With the picture? Yeah. Like if they like kind of know the doctor, like, hey, I've circled this here in Microsoft
Starting point is 01:16:25 Paint. Can you tell me what that is? Probably not, right? Let's go over and take a call from Heather in Knoxville, Tennessee. Heather, you're on the Bobbybone show. What's going on? Good morning, studio. Morning.
Starting point is 01:16:38 Morning. I just wanted to touch face on the communication thing and give you my personal experience. For me, when my husband and I get into an argument, a lot of times, it's because I'm passive aggressive and I can't communicate when something bothers me. So when people say for me to communicate, it's really hard for me to get out
Starting point is 01:16:58 there what I want to say. And it just kind of goes downhill from there. But when they say communicate, I think that a lot of times it's when something bothers you, don't hold it in and just have a safe way to communicate it. No, I get it. I just wish advice wasn't so generic. Like if someone's
Starting point is 01:17:14 going to give you advice, I need it to be a slightly more pointed other than just like, You know, just enjoy the day together. Some advice! And I'm trying to enjoy the day. Like, give me direct. I need to go A to B. How do I get to B?
Starting point is 01:17:27 I feel like would it be better if people just asked you to focus on listening? Because I feel like that's part of communication is actually hearing what the other person is saying. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, listening's good. And then repeat it back. Because sometimes we hear it completely wrong.
Starting point is 01:17:45 Wait, like, so if they say something and you got to be like, All right, let me see if I got this right. Well, what we do in therapy is when one person says one thing, the therapist has us say, okay, what I heard you say was, and we repeat it back, and then sometimes we don't repeat it back correctly. And then he'll be like, actually, that's not what I was saying at all. And then you work through it, and then voila, that's a recipe for success. That sounds like a really easy game of telephone. You know, it would get passed through, but there's no passing through.
Starting point is 01:18:12 You just say it back immediately. Yeah. But, I mean, we could even do that here on the show. sometimes we say things that get misunderstood by the people in the room. What I hear you saying right now is sometimes you say a lot of things you wish we wouldn't come at you for. Well, I don't know. Is that correct, Amy?
Starting point is 01:18:27 Is that correct, Amy? I don't know that you're guessing where I was going. I'm saying it can be a helpful tool in any relationship. Friendships, you know, romantic, business. It's like, because sometimes we take it through a filter and then when it comes into our brain and out our mouth, it's like literally not what the person said. But we just take it the wrong way. Hmm.
Starting point is 01:18:45 It happens. Okay. But good self-awareness on the caller knowing that she's passive-aggressive and she's going to try to work through that. Because sometimes it just takes self-awareness to even know your communication style. Yeah, I'm very self-aware and I realize I don't really do anything wrong. That's not very self-aware. Oh, it's not. That's not self-aware at all.
Starting point is 01:19:01 You're perfect. No, that's like denial or anything. Thank you for the call, Heather. Let's go over and take this call from Jackie and Madison, Wisconsin. Hey, Jackie, you're on the Bobby Bone Show. What's going on? Okay, so I have been bothered by something. Go ahead.
Starting point is 01:19:16 The issue of the Ruth Chris gift card keeps coming up, but a crucial item has been eliminated. When Chris gave the card to Lunchbox, he specifically told him he had to take his kids and that he knew people at Ruth Chris that would let him know. Yeah. And Lunchbox has been trying to get out of taking his kids now. Yes, I've been looking for every angle to figure out how my kids can't go to Ruth Chris. When are you going? I don't know.
Starting point is 01:19:42 Amy said she would hire a babysitter for me, so I'm just waiting for that. Did you say that? What I heard her say was interesting. Is that really what I said? No, no. You literally said. Oh, I probably did. Yeah, and I said, can you do it on a weekend and we can get it for eight hours?
Starting point is 01:19:56 Okay. Okay, yeah, because the eight hours was ridiculous. But if you want to go enjoy a two and a half hour dinner with your wife, I can support that. Oh, so three hours of babysitting. Sure. You heard it here. Yeah, that's what I said. Bobby Bones Show.
Starting point is 01:20:12 Boney up the day. This story comes to us from San Bernardino, California. California. Guys, this might be the biggest bonehead in the history of boneheads. Okay. So a guy shows up at the county jail on Sunday and hits a little buzzer. And they say, yeah, and he goes, I need to come in. I got a delivery. And they're like, oh, what are you delivering? And he goes, I got drugs for the inmates. And they're like, yeah, just wait outside. Someone will be right out to bring you in. And they go outside. And he has two pounds of marijuana in his back pocket. You really had drugs for the inmates?
Starting point is 01:20:42 Don't doesn't he know you should get tennis balls and stick the drugs in the tennis balls and hit him over? over the walls. Is that? Never heard of that. A lot of people do that or they're doing drone drops? Anything. You don't just show up and has to be buzzed in. Maybe he thought the guard, whoever was working the buzzer was cool.
Starting point is 01:20:58 Or hiding in plain sight is like, they'll never believe I'm really here for it. That's why. Was he under the influence of drugs and alcohol? They believe he was under the influence. Okay. Wild that he would just be like, I'm here and it's all illegal. But I like to bring it in. Hey, come on in, buddy.
Starting point is 01:21:13 Even the cops had to be like, is this Trent messing with us? Go out there. All right. I'm Lunchbox. That's your bonehead story of the day. All right, let's count it down. Come on. It's the good news countdown.
Starting point is 01:21:26 Counting down the biggest good news stories across the lab. And we'll start with number three. Number three. A woman in California got a free couch and matching chair on Craigslist. And then found $36,000 hidden in the cushions. Oh, wow. And then gave it back. The guy who put it there recently passed away.
Starting point is 01:21:44 His family had no idea that he, put that money there. The woman had also been looking for a fridge, so they gave her about $2,500 of the money to go buy a new fridge. So that's pretty cool. She gave it all back. They would have never known. That's wild. Number two. A Boston suburb is using some of its leftover stimulus money to help young people heading off to college. The mayor gave a speech at an award ceremony, and people expected him to announce the winner of a $1,000 scholarship. But instead, he said everyone won it. All the students and parents went nuts. Here's a clip.
Starting point is 01:22:16 This $1,000 scholarship will go to every single Malden graduating senior going on to attend college. That's pretty cool. That's great thousand bucks. Dang, you left thousand bucks rich when you came in. Here we go. Number one. Number one.
Starting point is 01:22:34 U.S. Marine Corporal Trent Lassard hadn't seen his mother, Cindy, in a very long time. Then he couldn't visit after because the pandemic. So when he finally got to Oklahoma to visit his home where his mom was, he surprised her by visiting her work without telling her he was back home. Here is that moment where he surprised her. That's awesome. That was the Good News Countdown. Okay, that's it.
